Veraga Prime was nearly as busy, if not more in certain districts, during the night as the day. The air was filled with a damp mist from an earlier storm and the cacophony of the starport as hovercraft rumbled and raced overhead, a siren wailing somewhere in the distance, the occasional crack of a gunshot or snap of a blaster ringing out. Laughter and cheering leaking out of bars and entertainment dens with broadcasts and gambling covering events from a thousand worlds. Lights from countless advertisements provide better illumination than the flickering lamp-posts that lined the walk-ways that wound through the towering megastructures. Highways for wheeled vehicles twist through the city like veins of some gargantuan organism, an always moving stream of vehicles ferrying bodies and goods from one point to another.

The lights from shuttles and freighters rising and falling through the atmosphere shining like beacons. Many swarm around the various docking pylons that rose up like colossal trees whose branches supported sub-capitals, looking very much like glowing insects from a distance. It was one of these pylons that the smugglers dispatched from Horizon's Drop made their way toward.

"Okay, my contact said the first of our ships are located in..." Clud pauses to glance at the datapad in his hand as the automated taxi rolled down a busy highway, "Dock 56, should be about midway up. Three freighters waiting."

The handful of crew and Legionnaires with him in the taxi nod, the message relaying through their collective Control Worms to the others in the other taxi following them. Several flinch as Eigha's voice sounds in their heads, still not used to the literally intrusive thoughts, <We should not take too long with this. I've seen the same pair of aircars tailing us the last few blocks> she says as she looks out the window of the rear taxi, its window foggy.

Buran, a densely muscled epikor woman wearing a visor to shield her light-sensitive eyes, peered through the window and gave a nod, her mental voice ringing out through the others, <If they're a threat, we'll deal with them when the time comes,> she says while checking the firing mechanism of her pirate traded pulse-rifle, the other Legionnaires doing the same.

Clud sends a private thought to Eigha, the netu adapting quicker to the subtleties of telepathic communication than the others, <Buddy is going to be glad he missed out if this turns sideways.>

Eigha gave a nod even though he couldn't see the gesture, <Probably. Still, we have a job to do, ordered by Jadyk himself and I plan to make him proud.>

<You almost sound like a Legionnaire>

The vorh scoffs, drawing a look from the human across from her, <After that announcement, being one doesn't seem so bad now>

There was a delay before he replies, <You might be right...> before turning to checking over his own gear as the pylon loomed closer against the skyline.

Seated in the Charnel vault you oversee the movement of fleets, moving them in preparation for the Ahkam invasion. There was much to do and tend to still.

After the announcement and reveal of the Immortals the Legionnaires return to their tasks, spread out across the sector and beyond. In Iti'a'Ropku and Vyi'a'Rthun, however, there was an almost immediate sense of celebration among the Legionnaires on leave and the citizens that had been present. Their jovial mood was questioned by their Pirate and Armatocere guests but they kept the news silent, just turning their attention to the festivities of gambling and narcotics.

It had only been a few hours of relative time but there were sudden alerts of approaching gravity wells to Horizon's Drop and moments later in Bastion. The battle alerts fade after the Eyegores confirm the gravity wells as the arrival of several Treeships in both systems, the capital sized craft appearing at first as an impossibly stretched object that snaps into fullness at a sickening speed on the outskirts of the systems before accelerating forward with sub-light engines.

A message is sent from a Treeship slightly larger than one of your own battleships, its rough hull scarred from battles past. An equally scarred Cacti appears on the screen, a mechanized voicebox similar to Sapling Slrrts embedded into the armor that appeared bolted to its form emitting a synthetic voice, "I am Warleader Caecet. It is a privilege to lend assistance to our allies. We will follow your commands when the battle comes. May your roots drink the waters and blood of your foes." The message was brief but to the point, much like many of the cacti your Reconstructed or servants had interacted with.

Beqor and Raakah continue to make their plans with the other Blackscale, many of their plans heavily involving the use of their collective Knight constructs supported by zombified Sunscale. Other plots included the use of the cybernetically enhanced cyborgs they kept in storage or the release of virulent plagues. From what you gleaned in passing you began to feel pity for the Confederate laboratory they were targeting. Their message still stood, asking if you would like to involve yourself with the plots to provide guidance or to introduce yourself to this new Cabal.

Through the sub-space communications relay an urgent message from the Dagger Clan on Myrshyn arrives, stating that they request a line of communication regarding a new undead outbreak potentially related to the Refuge Crisis. The message appears to have originated from Dagger Lord Erex themself.

What shall you tend to first?

We've got to keep being good neighbors as well as fighting off the well-justified stigmas about the undead in general. Fighting off an undead outbreak that's hurting neighbors/allies has already proven great for that, and we shouldn't stop now.
>>
>>1721716
Realizing the urgency of the message you have the relay link to the Charnel Vault and a return message sent to Myrshyn. Moments later a holoscreen is projected to a simple blank screen as the time dilation was adjusted for the interstellar contact before it materializes into the image of the Netu Clan Lord, the background an indistinct wall they were sitting with their back against.

They bow their head in greeting, "Greetings and clear skies. It is good that you agreed to speak with me, Lord Jadyk. I bring grave news."

"Of course, Lord Erex. Tell me what vexes you," you say motioning for the netu to speak.

"We believe that there may have been a breach in containing the undead within Refuge. There is a space city in the next sector along the Nebula Wall called Barqalan, or Passage in our old language," they say and tap at something offscreen, a simple image of a space city much larger than the orbital platforms orbiting your worlds set against the backdrop of the turbulent nebula, "It is a neutral location our of necessity, members of all factions seeming to pass through due to it being the safest place to cross the Nebula for many lightyears, but also as a common place for our ships to retreat to for repairs.

"During the Refuge crisis, one of our corvettes went dark after being attacked by a swarm of strikecraft near Junkyard's debris field. We believed it to be destroyed. That is until it seemingly reappeared a day before your final encounter with the Necromancer and was picked up by a salvage team and brought to Barqalan. Due to the nature of the nebula and nearby solar bodies, there are many injured ships that need rescuing," the image changes to show Barqalan again, this time in clear disarray as it lacked the traffic of the ships in the previous image, sections of the city noticeably suffering damage of some kind with fire, smoke, and atmosphere venting out of various sections.

"We received a message only today, a distress call saying the corvette been packed full of undead that were in hiding but went feral and swarmed into the city, likely after the Necromancer was slain. We believe there may be still survivors sealed away in protected sections, a scout sent to investigate picking up numerous short-ranged broadcasts calling for help," the image is fades and Erex appears once more, "We assume the worst. Our forces are much too weak to attempt retaking Barqalan but we hope that you may rise to the challenge. Be warned though, we have detected Osjiic scout vessels watching the location as well, possibly in preparation to claim it for themselves."

What shall you say to Dagger Lord Erex?

I had written something up, but then I remembered that we had already told the Voidknights to fortify B'Nan against a possible Osjiic attack, since they won't be much good against the Ahkam. My main concern was that we can't spare forces that are defending our systems alongside the Armatocere - it'd be a real dick move to have them defend our homes while a portion of our forces just bugger off elsewhere.

Could the Voidknights in B'Nan possibly spare any forces for this?
>>
>>1722389
>>1722221
Something like this then?

"We are expecting a massive attack by the Armatocere very soon. They are already on their way, and allies have come to our defense. We can't redirect forces that would otherwise fight alongside them without their permission. It would be abandoning our allies who have faithfully come to help defend our home.

We do however have some forces will not be participating in the defense on that front, and they may be able to spare some forces to aid you. We will contact them immediately to see what they can spare.

What forces do you have in the region to help contain this outbreak? If you and and whatever forces we may be able to spare can rescue survivors and stabilize the situation until after the Ahkam attack is repelled, we will then gladly send whatever forces are necessary to retake the station with minimal further loss of life."

You have a little under half the Legion helping out in Refuge with the others spread around the Armada territories. The majority of the Solar Arbiters are still on the frozen world that the Blackscale cloning experiments are taking place in the Urdir system. Only a few have been sent to the Armada cities on HD and Rukor with Sur-Quro to teach the Ructu and Armatocere initiates.

You then have forces that are in the Drakon system as the closest, the sector they're speaking about being "NorthWest" to our current sector I really need to update and make more maps

You believe that you do have enough forces you could skim from systems like Drakon, B'Nan, Andai, and Refuge to handle the operation.
>>
>>1721479
Im gonna say it again,

can we or can we not make a new special project for deep rot to examine the source of the emerging individuality of our reconstructed.

It bears looking into
>>
>>1722518
Since the Legion at Refuge, the Arbiters in Urdir and the Drakon forces are all in systems that Ahkam aren't expected to attack immediately, I vote they each send what isn't needed for immediate defense. Some will be arrive sooner than others. The priority is to rescue survivors, then to contain the outbreak. Once the situation is stable we can wait until after the Ahkam attack for cleanup.

I just hope these are actually all feral undead and not another rogue Immortal or necromancer. If it's just feral we've got a better chance of containing/stabilizing with a smaller force.
>>
>>1722542
I agree that we should, although I can't think of any useful tech we would get out of it, mostly just interesting fluff

Also when was the last time we upgraded deep rot? Have we ever upgraded it? Can it even upgrade?
And we should make a deep rot on all 3 of our core worlds. Redundancy is key for longevity
>>
>>1722542
>>1722559
I don't know what there is to do that isn't already being done by just waiting and watching. If there's anything to do it'd be more like a survey or study of what's already happening rather than any new or controlled experiment, I'd think. It might end up with just waiting for more to happen, if anything.
>>
>>1722221
"Thank you for this information, Lord Erex. While much of my forces are occupied with defending against the Ahkam, Matriarch Vrix herself coming for me," you see the Dagger give a nod, the highly ranked pirate likely knowing of her approach, "I believe I can spare enough forces to assist in this. Our first priority will be rescuing survivors then handling containment until we can send a proper extermination fleet to fully retake Barqalan after we deal with the Ahkam assault."

"I will speak with the other Clan Lords. The loss of Barqalan would be a great blow to us all and the free people of the galaxy. I will be sending for Captain Troma to join your forces in the field if you will allow it. Until then, good luck and clear skies, Lord Jadyk. I pray to my own gods and yours that we are not too late," the Netu Clan Lord gave a polite bow of the head and you return the gesture. A datapacket containing intel about Barqalan is transferred before the interstellar connection was severed and the holoscreen flickers out.

In the datapacket there were blueprints and maps for the spacecity but many were decades old by this point or hand-designed by locals and visitors. There were sectors dedicated to vast hydroponics farms, manufacturing and ship salvage along with residential blocks. Multiple reactors of various make and model were detailed on the maps, even the designs of several models of artificial gravity used throughout the superstructure. There were also population estimates, ranging from the low thousands into the tens of thousands depending on current migratory traffic through the temperamental passage through the Nebula Wall that would seal for solar days at a time. Intel seems to show that a population of at least 9,500 had been present on the initial day of the outbreak.

How shall you deal with this problem?

Well we could test them to see if they have higher amounts of life energy.
That's probably it
In the old armada there was little to no living among the reconstructed, but now there are thousands. The reconstructed must be absorbing some of the ambient life energy and slowly becoming more alive themselves.
>>
>>1722542

Valresko is currently in Horizon's Drop. He showed up to gain your assistance in creating the first Solar Disciple (who I forgot to add to the list of potential people to send).

Not sure about the necromancers. If they would be part of the defense against the Ahkam otherwise, I vote no. Necrotic is the natural counter to arc, and we've got a whole lot of arc coming our way.

Sur-Quro was in Iti'a'Ropku and walked along a canal after being given the day to herself after the announcement of the Immortals. She'd been in attendance with the handful of other Solar Arbiters in the city who helped her train the Armatocere in controlling their new powers, witnessing the grand announcement and finding herself swept up in the moment as well, shouting out the chants and stomping her feet. She felt almost silly about it now, wondering if the Spinal Tap symbiot newly attached to her spine was to blame but her thoughts were interrupted as she realized you were walking alongside her.

"Lord Jadyk?" she asked sharply and rose up to her hind legs in surprise, causing a few nearby civilians and Reconstructed to look at her curiously before moving along.

"In a manner of speaking. A psionic hallucination, projected for your convenience," your illusion says matter-of-factly and she nods slowly, "An urgent matter has arisen and I am assigning you and your Arbiters first mission. Valresko has already signed off on it."

Sur-Quro was silent for a moment before giving a nod, "Very well, what do you need," she asks while folding her arms across the chest of her pale Solar armor.

"An outbreak of believed feral undead derived from the Refuge Crisis. I know Valresko had you study the reports so you know the capabilities of the undead infected with the Blight Hunger. The location is a space city by the name of Barqalan," you say.

The yuyut nods, "I know of the location. Marks the path through that violent section of the Nebula Wall."

"Due to the approaching Ahkam threat the forces we will be sending you with will be reduced to what we would normally send but I have confidence in your abilities. You will be joined by the Dagger Captain Troma, you may have seen or met him here in Iti'a'Ropku. His people are the ones that alerted us to this threat and have provided intel," the illusion shifts momentarily, a shadowy visage of the pirate Netu appearing beside your form then disapates, "Your initial parameters are to rescue any survivors while attempting to discern if this infection purely an out of control feral outbreak or if there is a guiding force. Containment and extermination will come later."

"Very well, I will depart as soon as I can, Lord Jadyk. This will be the perfect chance to see if these other Arbiters I've trained have retained anything that I or Valresko have taught them," she salutes with a fist thumping against the Solar emblem on her armor, "To Death and through it to Eternity," she says without prompting from the Spinal Tap.

Your illusion gives a nod, "Go with my blessing, Arbiter," before it fades into a dissolving mist, leaving her alone beside a canal.

Sur-Quro begins to walk toward the starport, but pauses to watch as a Loom floats just below the waters surface, its bone-chain tendrils drifting in the current before its sting whip leaps out to harpoon a passing piscine and drag it back to its beak quickly.

There comes a message from the moon that you had been waiting for some time to receive. A simple request from Vle'Karak stating that they were ready to speak with you, insisting that you arrive in person to show that you consider this event to be of utmost importance.

From what you can see on the surface of the moon is Vle'Karak and the two younger Ahkam sitting in silence now that their conversation had come to a close. They do perk up though as several cloned herdbeast from Horizon's Drops surface were forced to the surface, allowing the trio of massive serpents to feast under the stars and protective bubble of energy.

You also notice that Predator Eiton had sent in a report several minutes prior that more anomalies were being detected in areas of high Arc concentration. Motes of crackling static seemed to dance through the chambers of the Arc Condensers and the Arc Fount of Rukors moon. Even the Arcdancers seemed to be having moments of difficulty in restraining their powers. The Deep Rot adds in with their own note that Arcdancers in the Refuge and Urdir systems do not report the same sudden increase in their abilities but their locations lack powerful concentrations of Arc energy that the others do.

Do you wish to answer Vle'Karak's summons to meet him and the other Ahkam in person?

The trip to the biodome from the Charnel Vault was short due to its location in orbit around the moon, traveling into the tunnels first.

Eiton and the Arc Disciples bow before you as the Throne floats toward them, "Lord Jadyk, the serpents have stopped talking. They are waiting for you."

The Disciple that had once been Orvca nods their head, "Should they attempt to harm you we will jump in immediately."

You give a thankful nod to the Disciple, "I appreciate the concern but I believe your fears may be unfounded. I am confident in Vle'Karak's loyalty, we have what he desperately craves. In the chance they do attempt to betray me, I doubt he will join them."

The Throne floats past them and the groups of Dirges and Requiems waiting for their signal to attack, emerging out into the small transplanted plot of landscape.

Vle'Karak lifts his head from where it rested on a coil of his body, "Lord Jadyk," he says and bows his head briefly.

The other serpents raise their heads and turning to look as you approached, tongues flitting out to taste the air as they stared. The herdbeasts, which could each feed a group of of tyrre for several days, had been consumed without effort long before you had arrived.

Passing between the younger serpents you move around to Vle'Karaks side where the large serpent relaxed in the pond of water, "I hope your discussions have been fruitful," you say and he lets out a clicking laugh deep in his throat as you looked to the other serpents, "What do you have to say about Vle'Karak's words to you this day?"

They glance at each other before the blue scaled Cve'jok hisses, "If I were to hear these blasphemies a year prior I would have devoured the perpetrator myself," she glances up toward the stars for a moment, "Now I am uncertain. My mother would not welcome me back after my failures after so long, but if I were strike you down, here and now, she may accept me back," she says but makes no move to strike, empathic sensors built into her Domination Collar detecting no hostility.

Dne'tec's head sways as he looks at you, the emerald scales shining in the light emitted from the protective dome, "I long ago accepted my death by your hands, thinking I was left to be forgotten in your prisons as your Think Tanks stole secrets of the Arc from me in my despair. Now I learn my mother Quantac'Vrix is on her way to slaughter you and all your subjects while simultaneously hearing the Ahkam I personally viewed as a paragon of our species speak these words in attempts to sway us," he falls silent, his red eyes locked onto you.

Vle'Karak hisses as he looks to you with his remaining eye, "They need to hear from you. Convince them why they must accept your generous offer rather than attempting to strike you down right here. It took time to convince them to even listen to this offer after I revealed my intentions."

The Ahkam serpents Cve'jok and Dne'tec must be convinced to renounce the Dynasty and pledge loyalty to you

Long, but here goes.

"I am sure that through your time with us you have seen that we are... not what you would normally expect from a lich. And indeed once I was very different. I am ancient. Long ago I was a great general in the old Necrotic Armada. I then lived only to increase my own power, and to glorify what we called gods by destroying all else. And when we were finally defeated, all our claims of ultimate supremacy were exposed as the vanity and foolishness they truly were.

During my long imprisonment, I thought much on our failure. I eventually realized that we had failed even before we had begun, by choosing a path where even victory would be hollow, all worship false, all praise lies, all loyalty duplicit, for force and threats cannot produce any of these things in truth.

I have now chosen a different path than that which had been chosen for me since I was a small worm. I have chosen now to build up rather than tear down, and to create rather than destroy. I have chosen to win true friends and loyal subjects by using my powers for them, rather than against them. I have chosen to spread not fear, but hope.

Like I once did, you have served a power that only truly serves itself, that pretends to greater powers than they truly possess, and that seeks false worship by force. You now know defeat, as I have. You have had some time to think, as I did.

I now ask, to what are you loyal? What do you love? What do you strive for?

Your dynasty? It has no loyalty to you. You fought greatly in its service. You served faithfully to the last of your powers. And yet you know that Vrix would destroy you if you returned, simply for not having enough power, for being unable to maintain her facade of divinity. You were betrayed even before you were defeated.

I now offer you a new path. To build a dynasty of true comrades and subjects, with the greater uplifting the lesser, and the lesser freely serving the greater in return out of true love and loyalty. Those who now revere me do so not because they will be killed if they do not, but because they see and believe in what I have led them to become, and in what we have achieved together. We do not fear betrayal or insurrection, for we live to build and protect each other. We each benefit not only from our own strength, but from the strength of all.

I now invite you to be part of that. To achieve glory through true merit, to gain friends through true service, to gain lasting dynasty by being truly loyal to it yourselves, and if you desire it in time, to gain immortality and eternal praise through the love of those you truly protect and empower.

Despite being born into strength, you were also born into captivity, for your path has been chosen for you from your birth until now. But now, you are free to choose another. Will you join us?"

Claws tapping against the armrest of your throne as you gathered your thoughts for a few moments, the unfaltering stare of the two Ahkam that swayed before you. Steepling your fingers before you finally speak, "I am sure that through your time with us you have seen that we are... not what you would normally expect from a lich. Indeed, once I was very different.

"I am ancient, older than the rise of the first Ahkam perhaps. Long ago I was one of the greatest admirals in the old Necrotic Armada. I existed only to increase my own power by consuming the living, and to glorify what we called gods by destroying all else. And when we were finally defeated, all our claims of ultimate supremacy were exposed as the vanity and foolishness they truly were."

The pair are silent, their tongue flitting out as they listened, "During my long imprisonment, I thought much on our failure. I eventually realized that we had failed even before we had begun, by choosing a path where even victory would be hollow, all worship false, all praise lies, all loyalty duplicit, for force and threats cannot produce any of these things in truth. This is a truth that you honored kin Vle'Karak came to understand even before his fateful battle with Nekris," the elder serpent bowing his head while the younger serpents hiss softly at the name.

"I have now chosen a different path than that which had been chosen for me since I was a small worm living in corpses. I have chosen now to build up rather than tear down, and to create rather than destroy. I have chosen to win true friends and loyal subjects by using my powers for them, rather than against them. I have chosen to spread not fear, but hope.

"You have seen my cities, the metropolises where members of all races and creeds no live. Living side by side with the undead, not in fear, but in respectful coexistence," deep under your feet, in Vle'Karaks old cell, the captive Ahkam Nru'jok watches the projections that had shown Vle'Karak's conversation with her brother and sister. She now watches your image in silence, coiled around the heated pillar while still mindful of her healing wounds.

"Like I once did, you have served a power that only truly serves itself, that pretends to greater powers than they truly possess, and that seeks false worship by force. You now know defeat, as I have. You have had some time to think, as I did.

"I now ask, to what are you loyal? What do you love? What do you strive for?"

The simple question you posed causes the pair to glance toward each other, empathic sensors detecting brief confusion at the question. They look back as you continue, "Your dynasty? It has no loyalty to you. You fought greatly in its service. You served faithfully to the last of your powers. And yet you know that Quantac'Vrix would destroy you all if you returned, simply for not having enough power, for being unable to maintain her facade of divinity.

"You were betrayed even before you were defeated."

You lift a hand toward the fleets that amassed above, the Charnel Vault a dark blot against the stars and Horizon's Drop framed behind it, "I now offer you a new path. To build a dynasty of true comrades and subjects, with the greater uplifting the lesser, and the lesser freely serving the greater in return out of true love and loyalty.

"Those who now revere me do so not because they will be killed if they do not, but because they see and believe in what I have led them to become, and in what we have achieved together. We do not fear betrayal or insurrection, for we exist to build and protect each other. We each benefit not only from our own strength, but from the strength of all.

"That is how my Armada continues to grow and yours suffers defeat, even at the height of the Arc Surge. I am strengthened far more by the loyalty granted to me freely, rather than coerced through fear and false idoltry," you wave a hand, "But that is the point of this meeting. I wish to include you, to make you part of this strength.

"I now invite you to be part of that. To achieve glory through true merit, to gain friends through true service, to gain lasting dynasty by being truly loyal to it yourselves, and if you desire it in time, to gain Immortality and eternal praise through the love of those you truly protect and empower."

You reach a hand out to them now, "Despite being born into strength, you were also born into captivity, for your path has been chosen for you from your birth until now. But now, you are free to choose another.

"Will you join us?"

They are silent as they stare at you unblinking.

To you immense surprise it was Cve'jok who bows her head after several silent minutes, her hood folding in against her body, "I...I am considered dead to my mother and Dynasty, I know this. We are told this from nearly the day we are hatched, failure is death, death is failure," she looks to Dne'tec, "We are the dead already. We may as well rise up, like the undead that imprisoned us," she says turning her gaze back to you, "I do not wish to die by the fangs of my mother, I will serve you to avoid her wrath and gain glory of my own that I could never under her all encompassing shadow."

You give a nod to the blue-scaled serpent as she bows her head once more to you, then look to Dne'tec, "And your decision?"

They were silent for a long time before a long, defeated sigh escapes them before they rear their head up proudly, "It is as Cve'jok says, we are already the dead. I do not wish to die a prisoner, nor be contained any longer. If we must figuratively become like you undead to survive, free to live outside of a cell, then yes, I shall renounce my mother and the Dynasty, even though it may pain me," he says, casting his gaze to the ground as he bows his head before you.

Vle'Karak slithers forward then twists around to face you from his place between the two younger Ahkam, his single eye focused on you, "You have your weapon now, Lord Jadyk. We three Ahkam, disgraced false gods, humbled by your powers, pledge ourselves to you," he says, bowing his head and touching his forehead with the bladed tip of his tail.

"We three Ahkam, pledge ourselves to you," Cve'jok and Dne'tec intone together, repeating the motion of the elder serpent.

With a wave of your hand the collars sealed around the pairs necks gave audible snaps before they were removed by unseen hands carefully to avoid any extra damage as the long spikes were drawn from their bodies. They keep their heads bowed as you let the collars fall and watch a near instant pulsing of Arclight race along their forms, "May the Wormstar watch over its new children. I swear I shall fight my hardest to shield you all from Quantac'Vrix's wrath."

They lift their heads, the younger pair's excitement and relief at having the collars removed after their weeks imprisoned bubbling up, "Rest for now. I am uncertain how long this peace will last.

"Welcome to the Necrotic Armada."

I'm not so sure we should do that, not now anyway because of those voices but we WILL have another chance to seize the arc.

A simple voiceless tune plays from the plastic speakers set into the walls as the lift carried the group of smugglers and bodyguards upwards, a lighted display above the wide doors ticking off each floor they passed with a brief notification of the different numbered docks linked to each level. The other wall was a transparent plasteel to offer a view of the mega-city below, most buildings around a ship pylon such as this regulated to a lower height for several miles allowing them look down on a field of lights and mist broken by streams of traveling vehicles.

Eigha stood at the window with arms folded and her psychic voice fills the minds of the others, <Alright, we're supposed to meet a rep of the Cartel who will turn over the controls of the freighters. Let Clud and I do the talking with them and we can get off this system and back home.>

They give nods or grunts of acknowledgement while they hide their weaponry under the long raincoats and parkas from the simple camera set into the lift. Coming to a halt with a slight jerk as the display read Level: 19 Docks: 54 55 56 57 before the doors slide open and they filter out into the thankfully empty chamber alongside several other elevator exits.

Pylons such as these were constructed similar to a conical tree, a sturdy central pillar providing support and structure while each level has a number of docks situated around each that reach out like branches. Each "branch" consists of a sealed dock allowing for shuttles and most sub-capital sized craft to enter, where depending on the level or pylon, can provide repairs, refueling, upgrades, or even just simple storage. The larger, sturdier docks of the lower levels are typically used for the heaviest of craft or often serving as parking for local shuttles and vehicles. Each dock shrinks in size per level to easier distribute the weight of the building, many of the smaller, higher level docks rented out or out-right owned by corporations, wealthy individuals, or government contracted.

Following a sign indicating Dock 56, Eigha and Clud at the lead while the netu does one last check through the info sent by the Cartel to hsi datapad for the dozenth time as the Legionnaire guards keep an active eye out for trouble but to their relief the short trip was uneventful. The entrances to the dock were several doorways the size of the lifts with a single central gate allowing for cargo to be ferried to the industrial lifts at the center of the support pylon.

Standing outside of the smaller doors were a well-dressed osjiic and netu pair that Clud recognizes as the personal bodyguards for one of the Cartel reps he had met. The two brutes tense at their approach but they visibly relax when the also seem to recognize the netu. The osjiic looks over the group, the visor shielding their eyes likely scanning them, as the netu gives a nod to Clud, "Good, you're on time," they say and turn to place a palm against a console in the door.

>>1728609
The door creaks open and the guards motion for them to enter. Inside the dock it was similar to the one the Wick was moored but rather than open to the air there were three currently closed hangar doors. Three freighters similar in size and carrying capacity to the Wick, but clearly older and lacking the polish, sat there waiting for them. One had it's cargo bay open with the ramp extended where a group of the Cartel stood and they turn to look at your agents as they entered.

Three of the selected captains stood back with their five crew members each and their guards as Eigha and Clud approach the group. There was the older netu by the name of Borze who sported faded Pike Clan engravings in their chitin under their very expensive outfit, two of their netu officers, and a handful of enforcers of varied race. Each was well dressed and Clud knew that each likely had impressive firepower hidden under their armored clothing.

"Perfectly timed," Borze comments as he turns to the pair, "Three freighters, half of our agreement with the others held in storage for the moment."

Clud gives a nod, "Excellent. They will exponentially increase our shipments."

"Couldn't spring for anything newer?" Eigha questions as she looks up at the freighter.

Clud shoots her a look and telepathic warning but he looks back in surprise as the criminal laughs, "We could've, but fancier ships are more prone to notice and inspection. At least we're providing the fuel for them as well," they say then look back to their guards, "Speaking of which, go help out their crew with the fueling."

Several of the brutes give quick nods and move off to help the smugglers begin fueling the ships. Borze looks back to the pair, "I must say, my partners in the Cartel are quite eager to see these profits your kelp promises. The narcotikelp is quite popular, we've already had several of our low-level dealers and supplies hit by rival gangs. A definite sign of its demand," he says with a chuckle.

The pair glance at each other with a brief telepathic exchange before Clud looks back, "There shouldn't be any danger, should there?"

This made the group of professional criminals laugh, one of the netu officers thumbing her beak, "You picked the wrong line of work if you're worried about danger."

>cont
>>
>>1728617
"Indeed, there is always danger when it comes to money and supplying what the people are demanding. Besides, it's low-level bruiser work, they won't be bold enough to go after you folks just yet," Borze says while rubbing fingertip and thumb together but a rumbling in the dock draws his attention as the hangar bays begin to creak open letting in the newly falling rain. He begins to shout as he turns on them, "Who opened the doors?! We aren-" he was cut off suddenly by gunfire sending everyone in the hangar scrambling for cover.

Floating just outside the hangar doors were a pair of black shuttles with their sidedoors open where one sported a mounted chainrepeater that spit bursts of gunfire from its rotating barrels. From the shuttles dark-armored forms leap the gap to the dock as several that were clearly esat take to the air while opening fire with handguns and blasters.

Borze shouts out to Clud as they hid behind a stack of crates holding ship parts, "Okay, maybe they were a little bolder than I thought!"

The hangar quickly became a warzone as the attackers departed from their shuttles and took up firing positions. They attacked with the typical mix of slugthrowing guns and energy blasters, armored in dark plating lacking any noticeable insignia. The gunner in the shuttle provided cover for the ground based attackers, pinning the smugglers and cartel members behind stacks of crates or moving equipment who pop out to fire off a few retaliatory rounds before they're forced back with a hail of weaponsfire.

"Keep those ships fueling!" Eigha shouts out both vocally and telepathically as she fires around an idle cargo loader with an energy blaster. Her allies give shouts of confirmation as they hunker down to prevent the attackers from approaching the armatures that rose from the ground to pump the refined fuel.

A human Cartel member attempts to dash from behind a crate that was smoldering and shaking from the impacts but they only take a few steps before they are sent toppling to the ground in a spray of blood as they find their legs severed just below the legs by a burst of gunfire from the mounted gun and bullets riddle their chest. There was a shout of rage from one of the other criminals, a kosda who stood up and opened fire with a rifle that had seems to unfold from the sleeves of their jacket. One of the attackers rushing forward has their head snap back suddenly and stumbles as a bullet strikes the ballistic glass of their faceplate before another round punches through the weakened material and a spray of gray matter splatters from the back of the skull.

<Above us!> came the psychic shout a moment before the esat attackers that flew up and over the freighters opened fire. A pair of the Cartel guards fall, one gurgling on their blood as a serrated circular blade lodges itself in their throat from some magnetic catapult, along with a Necrolyte osjiic who swears profusely as their Control Worm begins pumping healing bio-gel and painkillers into their system to overwrite the pain of the bullets lodged in their arm and torso.

An esat carrying a vibroblade in hand gives a shrill shout as they tackle Eigha to the ground, the enhanced reflexes granted by the symbiot attached to her spine allowing her to react in time to catch its wrist with the blade quivering from its internal motors inches from her face. Its freehand tries clawing at her throat but the adrenaline the Control Worm was pumping into her gave her the strength to hold it back. Her hand slips though and the blade plunges into her shoulder, the vibrating edge slicing through armor and chitin making her scream out in pain. Yet the distraction was what she needed as she pulls her own thermal knife from her belt to slide the blade into the seams of its neck. The esat falls limp on her with a sharp gasp as it died, the vorh starting to push them off.

>cont
>>
>>1728899
Buran, the epikor Legionnaire, had dashed over dodging bullets and blasters when she saw the vorh in trouble and tosses the body off her before dragging her back to the cargo loader. Eigha hisses as the blade was pulled from her shoulder with a spurt of blood and bio-gel that sizzles faintly, "Fuckers are sneaky," she mutters mostly to herself but Buran laughs.

"That they are," she says before hauling her pulse rifle up and squeezes off a burst and across the hangar to drop a flying esat as its wings were shredded. It lands close enough for a Cartel osjiic to swing the vibroaxe they had somehow hidden in their clothing down into its back before wrenching it out to charge an attacking osjiic that swung their own ax with shocking speed.

Telepathic shouts of pain rang out along with the vocal as Legionnaires, smugglers, Cartel members, and the attackers all suffered injuries or losses. One kesh Legionnaire who had already suffered several blaster bolts to their torso with wounds still smoking, had thrown themselves onto a tossed grenade that fell among their group while shouting in their mind, <For Jadyk!> a moment before it detonates and scatters pieces of them across the hangar.

<We need backup! They're getting into the ship!> came the mental shout from one of the crew members attempting to defend one of the freighters, pointing at several esat who had opened an airlock and were filing in. Clud gives a quick glance to the others and saw the esat were attempting to gain entry into the others as well while the land-bound attackers held their positions or attempted to push them back. The Legionnaires and Cartel members held their ground despite their losses though, preventing any from nearing the fuel ports.

"Ships are seventy percent fueled! You can take off!" came the shout from a Cartel guard, Borze shouting curses at them as the attackers seemed to hear this and the engines on one of the freighters began to spin up. This seemed to be a signal as the shuttle without the gunner sets itself down and a few more of the dark armored attackers rush out, this time each going to one of the still closed hangar doors to tamper with the controls now that the emergency locks were engaged with the outbreak of combat.

You watch the events through the Control Worms, curious to see how this confrontation would play out but you spy from the corner of a smugglers eye a group of esat creeping along the hull of a freighter toward where Borze and his officers were hunkered down, each of the flying arthropoids seeming to carry stunsticks that crackle with energy between the metal studs along the clubs length.

Save yourselves, my children. Protect our allies.

Each of the smugglers and Legionnaires heard those whispered words, knowing you were watching them. A smuggler turns instinctively, firing without properly aiming with their auto-rifle and opens fire from across the hangar to hit the first esat that had leaped from the freighter toward Borze and his comrades where a ghostly image of yourself pointed a skeletal hand toward the ambushers. The esat's stunstick fell from its grasp as it clutches at the bullet holes in its chest as its wings struggle to keep it aloft but it was quickly gunned down by the alerted Cartel guards. The rest of the would be abductors dropped the the electrified clubs as in favor of their guns but they too were cut down by the crossfire from the smugglers and Legionnaires.

Clud scurries from his cover toward the pinned down Cartel members and shouts out, "Get in the freighters! We're leaving!"

Borze switches shut the small holodevice he was shouting orders at, the image of an epikor flickering out as the netu nods, "I concur! Back-up is en route!" the netu tucks away the communication device and stands up swiftly with his officers, their collapsible blaster rifles firing bolts of blue energy to strike down several black armored attackers rushing toward them. They leap over the pile of bulletridden crates they had hid behind and dashed up the extended ramp.

<Do we just take the one?> came the question through the symbiot link from one of the smuggler captains

They belong to me. Take all three.

Your voice echoes in their minds as they each see an apparition guiding them. Clud's voice rings out over the din of the battle and the alarm sirens wailing in the hangar, "You heard him, get these tubs in the air!" he shouts while vaulting the cargo loader and opening fire with his carbine, a bullet catching an attacker in the knee sending them spinning with a spray of blood as they dashed for cover.

Smugglers and Legionnaires, emboldened by your words and the cocktail of stimulants rushing through their veins, rush from their cover with shouts and bellows that seem to stagger their foes with the fury in their voices. The fueling connections are shut off and retracted as fire was drawn away from them, the smugglers and Cartel members fighting to board the freighters.

>cont
>>
>>1729423
Clud was the first on board one of the freighters, rushing into the airlock as a compact thermal spike snaps out from under under the barrel of his carbine. His feet stomping down the corridor as he charged an esat turns a corner and opens fire with an auto-pistol, several bullets ricocheting off the high quality armor he'd traded for in Iti'a'Ropku from a Dagger officer. The arthropoid recoils as their attack seems to do nothing to stop the charging netu as more of the smugglers follow in his wake but the thermal spike was driven into the weak joints under their arm with a faint hiss of the armored weave melting.

Kicking the twitching esat from the spike he fires a round into its faceplace to silence its shouting then nods to the Legionnaires that flood in past him pulling thermal or vibro weapons or attaching blades and bayonets to their guns due to the cramped passages. You almost felt pity for the esat trapped in the freighters as the trained Legionnaires fell upon them or the cruel Cartel soldiers got their hands on them. It was clear they hadn't expected such resistance nor such experienced soldiers.

The Legionnaires had been trained in ship to ship combat and boarding actions, several feeling more at ease and confident fighting in the confines of a ship rather than the openness of the hangar. It did not take long for the freighters to be taken control of, the esat boarders butchered with a handful subdued at Eigha's command.

The hangar doors had opened halfway but they halted their progress when everyone had retreated aboard the ships. They attempted to charge aboard but they were forced back from weaponsfire and several grenades tossed from open airlocks the defenders were taking shelter in.

Your agent Marlob, a netu who was selected as the captain for one of the freighters, slides into the pilots chair of the freighter in the center dock after pushing the corpse of an esat out of it. Their hands fly across the controls as one of the Cartel officers takes the co-pilots seat with Borze standing behind, a hand on each chair. Marlob curses as they look through the diamond pane of the cockpit to where the gunner shuttle was hovering before them, the weapon trained on the cockpit, "Fuckers are blocking us and the doors are still closed on the others," they say while bringing the engines up to speed for a hasty exit.

Borze pulls out the holodevice and punches in a code before the image of a human appears, "Open all hangar doors in Dock 56!" he shouts at the startled dockworker

"H-How do you have this frequency, what's going on up there?" they try to work out but Borze silences them with an ancient netu curse entailing throwing someone from an airlock.

"Listen here you softskin shit! Open the doors for Dock 56 or you'll find out what explosive decompression feels like, I swear upon my Clanship!" he shouts and the human recoils.

>cont
>>
>>1729432
A moment later the other two hangar doors begin to slide open much to the shock of the attackers who were struggling to seal them. Marlob and the other pilots let out cheers at the sight as the finish last minute preps but a note of dismay floods through the psionic link as the now opened hangars show at least three more shuttles hovering outside, one with a primed missile pod aimed right for the freighters.

Clud slams their fist on the console of the freighter he was in and calls out over the radio to the others, "If you got a trick up your sleeve, nows the time to use it, Borze!"

"Just give it a second, back up should be-" Borze was cut off and looks up expectantly from an indicator from his holodevice that let out a series of beeps.

The barrels of the chain repeater spin rapidly and fire off a burst of bullets that scrape and ricochet against the reinforced panes of the cockpit, Marlob and the officer co-pilot flinching at the attack but the gunfire was cut off by a sudden explosion. The gunner shuttle is struck by what appeared to be a rocket that detonates against one of its engines, sending it careening out of view as its engine trails smoke and fire.

The attackers shuttles try to scatter but more attacks rain down from above and the night sky is lit up as the shuttle with the missile pod is struck and detonates in a ball of flame large enough to send the neighboring shuttle plummeting as its own engines catch fire.

Borze slaps the back of Marlobs chair excitedly, "That's our signal, go go go go!" they shout.

<Brace yourselves!> came the psychic shout from the pilots as the freighters lurch forward out of the hangar doors. The central freighter with Marlob and Borze smashes through the parked shuttle, crushing then pushing it off the edge of the hangar to crash into the roof of a lower level dock. Another freighter piloted by the kosda Verri clips one of the few remaining shuttles and the small craft swerves away erractically from the blow.

The pilots felt a spike of alarm as sensors in the freighters showed them being followed by several targets but Borze reaches over to radio to the other freighters, "We've got an escort, lets get these into high orbit!"

As the freighters began to ascend into the raining sky Marlob glances out the cockpit to where the flashing lights of a local PDF airdefense strikecraft drew their attention. A double check of the sensors showed that several more were keeping pace and they look to Borze, "That's Veraga Prime PDF, why are they helping?"

The netu chuckles and moves to seat themself in a chair, "I bribe them enough, they better be helping. They'll just chalk it up to an attempted shipjacking. Stuff like this happens with shocking regularity, you'd be surprised."

In the cargo hold of the freighter carrying Eigha she looks away from the already healing wound in her shoulder to the handful of the attackers were disarmed and bound. Several very angry Legionnaires stand over them, resisting the urge to kill them.

"Keep them alive. I'm sure Borze will want to speak with them. So will the Boss," Eigha says, glancing at the phantom sensation of your hand on her shoulder, your ghostly image nodding approvingly before fading from view.

>>
>>1729440
That was eventful.

Anymore tonight?
>>
>>1729471
To be fair, the freighters we "gained" are just part of a contract deal with the cartel, right? Like they're on loan to us for as long as we're using them to smuggle more product to them?
>>
>>1729440
Turning your mind from the events on Veraga Prime with a note that you may need to send more Legionnaires next time you look to where Dne'tec and Cve'jok were having their wounds from the collars tended to by medical Reconstructed in the cargo hold of the Corvette ferrying you to Iti'a'Ropku. The long-limbed hovering undead peel away infected flesh, small hardlight scalpels slicing off diseased scales and cauterizing with the regenerative bio-gel slathered on to stimulate new scales to grow in their place. Vle'Karak was coiled loosely before a demi-Think Tank as he looks through lists of formerly high ranking soldiers that now served the Legion or lived in peace.

"Are you prepared for your announcement?" you question as your Throne slides closer to him.

Glancing toward you for a moment he gives a nod, "I believe so. Not sure what I'll say yet but I'm sure I'll think of something grandiose to say," he lets out a chuckle and with a twitch of his tail the demi-Think Tank shuts off. Coiling himself up into a more comfortable position, a faint crackling of Arc energy pulsing along his form due to the Surge, "Truth be told I am somewhat nervous," he says quietly with a glance to the younger serpents across the bay.

"Only natural considering the situation. I have faith you will say what needs to be said, my friend," you say, glancing at a small notice from the Deep Rot about how the smuggler freighters were going to meet with Confederate picket forces to escort Borze and his associates back to the surface.

Vle'Karak's tongue flits at the air in silence for several moments before he speaks in a hushed tone, "I do not know if Eiton has informed you, but the Arc is acting...bizarrely."

Your attention is drawn to him once more, "Bizarrely? They spoke of anomalies around sources of increased Arc saturation, assuming it is the Surge."

"I believe it is tied to the Surge, yes, but it moves strangely these last hours," he says, the cluster of blades at the end of his tail waving slowly in front of him as Arclight leaps between the blades, "It could be the Arc Surge, but I do not remember it acting this way the last time," he lowers his tail and gives a short yawn that bares his massive maw of teeth, Arcligh leaping between the fangs before he speaks again, "I am no expert on an Arc Surge, Lord Jadyk. I have not lived long enough. This could be a sign of it's end being near, a spike in activity before it's fading."

You give a nod, trusting the elder serpents advice on the Arc, "I hope that is merely the case." There was a shudder through the corvette as he begins to enter the atmosphere, angling toward Iti'a'Ropku that shined like a jewel perched atop the mountain range.

The serpents prepare to disembark, the medics floating away as they speak among themselves. You turned your Throne toward the cockpit, drifting through the halls of the small ship.

>cont
>>
>>1729750
You nearly miss it, a sound like a blade scraping against another almost drowned out by the sounds of the ship. Pausing you focus and hear it once more, like a pair of long bladed scissors closing slowly. There were no Reconstructed crew nearby that you could sense and the three Ahkam remained in[/ the cargo bay but the sound rings out again, clearer and faster.

Kyn'tk slithers out from your ribcage and reforms into a spear in your grasp as you listen to the strange sound, the Dirges fused to the throne creating a protective bubble of telekinetic force around you.

Yet no threat manifests before you. Only the taste of Arc energy upon the air, your Necrotic power giving the distinct static when in the presence of a powerful Arc presence. A quick glance through the demi-Think Tank with the Ahkam show they cease their conversations, looking in your direction through the walls as they seem to sense this presence as well as the Arc concentration climbs severely.

There was the sound of shearing blades once more but they continue, chattering on chaotically but somehow in that chaos words manifested, carved into your psyche like a pick through ice.

You must give in to your hunger. Heed only thyself. Slaughter the forsaken Heir, consume their flesh, devour the Arc. Become all within one, become Abomination!

The pain in your skull was unexpected and severe, but fleeting, leaving only a dull ache behind your eyes. Fading just as fast was the concentration of Arc energy, reduced to no more than the already increased background radiation of the Surge.

An alert comes from the Pilots, stating that they would be setting down momentarily near the Colosseum where members of the Armada were funneling back into, this time inviting their Dagger and Armatocere guests as well.

You ran a hand across you face, muttering to yourself, "Things just get more complicated without ever having lifting a finger."

>>1729606
Pretty much yeah. The Cartel isn't charging for the ships since they expect to be the sole recipient of both Kelp crops.

The edible Drop Kelp is almost in as much demand as the Narcotikelp
>>
>>1729752
>Both sides of mysterious voices are consistently using the word "Abomination" to refer to claiming all the elemental powers, and associate it with selfishness, greed, gluttony, and cruelty

Welp. At least Element Satan isn't pretending to be a good guy.

If both sides of this are actually just some kind of con, it's still by forces more powerful than us.
>>
>>1729764
>>1729752
Also I notice that time didn't stop. If it's two different sides like they present themselves, this one may be less powerful. It has some Arc influence and can cause pain, but the Three could stop time and immobilize us, something the Masked have never done (that we know).

I've got nothing on figuring out whether the sound associated with the voice means anything, but IIRC it's different from the Masked and the Three didn't have one at all.

Perhaps it's a sign language..

>Slaughter the forsaken Heir

Forsaken by whom, and Heir to what? It's got to be a reference to the Matriarch, but that doesn't change the question.

Are there gods of the three elements?

OH WOW.

Are the Three the gods of the elements we've already claimed, and the throne of the fourth (Arc) is currently empty? Was the Akham Matriarch once a candidate for ascending to become the Arc god, but has since been "forsaken" by someone with power over that process?

Oh man, what is going on
>>
>>1729807
>Are there gods of the three elements?

*four elements. Clearly.

This would all unravel if the Matriarch was going to inherit some higher Dynasty throne that I've forgotten about.
>>
>>1729772
>>1729764

Yeah I notice that, the arc surge is clearly related somehow.

I am leading on not taking the arc, as it being associated by both sides with selfishness, hunger and gluttony. Vices more in line with our past and the Armada original mission of ending all live. Restrain and control seen to be the higher path, and more congruent with our new vision of coexistence between the living and the undead.
>>
>>1729752
You drifted out of the corvette, your throne carrying you over the heads of Reconstructed sent to help ferry the Ahkam the short distance from the landing platform to the colosseum inside covered hovercraft.

The strange occurrences vexed you. When it was just the Masked they were frustrating but tolerable for the time being. Now with the Three threatening you against attempting to consume the Arc with a new unknown Arc presence urging you to do the very thing they forbade. The ache from the contact with the presence faded quickly, whatever lingering Arc energy likely consumed by your Necrotic aura. Still...there was something oddly familiar about the psychic contact you couldn't place.

Finding yourself entering the Colosseum already you wind your way down to where the hovercraft were landing in a cargo bay with the Ahkam. The trio of serpents emerge, their scales rasping against the stone floors with faint crackling of Arc static across their forms. The Reconstructed watched them warily but you wave a hand and most disperse to resume their tasks after gaining a look at them. You motion for them to follow, "This way. Best to have you make your announcement where all can see and hear you."

Dne'tec and Cve'jok were conversion in hushed voices as Vle'Karak moves to follow alongside you as you lead them toward your personal platform by way of the forbidden halls were nothing living beside the Necromancers walked.

You glance sidelong to Vle'Karak who was clearly deep in silent thought, "You felt the presence as well?"

He answers with a faint hiss before the speaking, "We all did. A powerful Arc entity. Did you see anything?" he questions and you can tell the other two had fallen silent as they listen.

Shaking your head you rub against your temple, "Only a telepathic communication. Left a headache. It was not like the...others. No freezing of time," you hesitate to voice your concerns.

Vle'Karak makes a disgruntled sound deep in his throat, "I am unsure if I am relieved or unsettled. They never gave off a sense of Arc energy, nor any other kind so I believe we can rule "them" out of this mystery."

From behind Cve'jok mutters a single word but you hear it clearly, "Nekris..."

The older Ahkam seems to hear it as well, glancing back as Dne'tec nods in agreement with his sister. Vle'Karak hisses softly as he looks to you with his remaining eye, "You did say his body was never recovered. I did not wish to say it, but the presence had felt...familiar."

The thought had occurred to you as you had flown over but you didn't want to place hope into something that may be pure assumption, "I felt his mind be severed from my own, from the Deep Rot. Few things beyond death can accomplish this."

Your throne halts with the serpents at the bottom of a stairway that leads to the platform, music and cheering filtering in from the colosseum as the seats filled and replays of recent hoverraces were projected for their amusement.

>cont
>>
>>1729914
Vle'Karak looks to you, "I won't ask what they said to you, that is your business alone if they waiting until you were alone. There are many things in this universe that do not make sense, Lord Jadyk," he motions with his tail toward you, "You are the biggest example I can think of," he says, drawing chuckles from both serpents.

You glance at them and they stifle their laughter then back to Vle'Karak, "Should I be insulted?"

"Not unless you wish to be. You are a Lich, yet you care for the living. You are the Necrotic Armada, yet you fight to protect the living rather than consume them. A powerful Necrotic entity who somehow can manifest the Solar and Void, making you Anatheme to many cultures just by your existing," he hisses, glancing toward the stairs, "You conquer, yet those conquered come to love you. Many things that would have been considered unthinkable and blasphemous, occur around you unceasingly yet turning them to the furthering of your cause rather than letting them break you.

"That is part of why I have vowed to serve you, Lord Jadyk. You are changing the galaxy, and I will be there to see the course it takes."

The other two serpents nod, Cve'jok and Dne'tec adding their agreement to his words.

You rub your chin with a finger in thought, Kyn'tk shifting in your ribcage in response to your racing thoughts before you look to the serpents, "You are not wrong. I am changing the galaxy, and you shall be there to watch it change with me, to help guide it," you motion to the staircase, "Your audience awaits you, history shall remember this day."

Vle'Karak looks to the other two Ahkam, all three feeling the weight of history pressing down on them in that moment, each suddenly aware of the potential repercussions their next actions would spark across the galaxy. With a final hiss he nods to you, "Come, niece and nephew, let us commence blasphemy and become abominations in the eyes of our family," he says with a dark chuckle before your throne glides upwards while questioning his wording.
>>
>>1729916
Ok I meant to get the introduction of the Ahkam wrapped up tonight but it took longer than I thought, terribly sorry for the relatively sparse content of tonight.

We'll handle the speeches tomorrow afternoon to wrap up the thread

Great, Vle'Karak just unintentionally made a better pitch for us claiming the Arc than even the Arc entity did.

Just in case anyone gets eager to take the Arc from the incoming Matriarch, just remember that we can wait to find out more about the voices.Once we know more we can just find another suitable source of Arc...or not.Either way the 4th voice said to think only of thyself, and that isnt our Mo.
>>
>>1730097
What if this voice is Nekris like the snakes suggest?
>>
>>1730097
No offence but can you do me a favour and check the date of when we first encountered an Arkham for the first time and now. We've waited enough

Besides if you start listening to voices in your head that only you can hear you need to start being concerned

At least the sneks heard the arc one that reminded (the three arc attuned individual of great power,) of Nekris

What if the three are like the mother in the void the father from the solar and... random necrotic God.. Bob the incarnate. You really gonna listen to Bob's advice when he's buddies with sunscale deities?
>>
>>1730147
It could have been Nekris in the same way that reconstructed used to be other people. It doesnt mean that he is loyal or even completely the same anymore.
>>1730175
Oh yes, ignore entities taht can freeze time, not to mention ourselves(something the Masked have never done),and instead listen to what sounds like the Id made manifest. As to the identity of the voices, they might be the Mother and Father, though I doubt it. If they were then they would probably sounded less polite. And if they are, then they arnt as dogmatic as we thought.
Im not saying we never get the Arc(if the voices tell us that and not that it isnt ours to "take",then they can go fuck themselves),all im saying is that we should find out more before we we fill ourselves with four fundamental forces that could potential devour each other finally or some other bullshit.
>>
>>1730247
I must agree with this anon, we shouldn't take risk with those three weirdo right now.
>>
Have you guys forgotten how we almost killed ourself with the solar? We achieved a delicate balance now and we should try to keep it. Getting the Arc now could break it.

We should just let someone else drain her or turn her into a reconstructed unit
>>
>>1730661
Ruscuv is a decent bet
>>
>>1730661
Honestly I kinda want this >>1728303
Especially this >>1727606

We will tame the Arc a other day, it's seems that we are not yet ready.
>>
Quest isn't resuming just yet but thought I'd clear something up that I realize wasn't very plain during the battle.

>>1730756
Ruscuv already attempted to consume the Arc when she devouring the Ahkam female when she attacked Tura with Tlacex and Muic. It gave her a pretty potent powerboost to her Necrotic energy, but she appears unable to steal the Arc and personify it the same way that Nekris was able to.

Since Clanship Krotur was (retroactively) an Arc potential himself, Nekris was able to steal and integrate the Arc into himself, becoming the first known hybrid of Arc/Necrotic

In all the time of the old Armda Jadyk only knew of the Void being able to coexist with the Necrotic since they are complimentary elements rather than adversarial. Until Jadyk stole the solar from Sunblessed Glucors and Reconstructed him into Dominator Valresko, there were no known Solar/Necrotic hybrids.

The fact that Jadyk is already capable of stealing and containing the Necrotic, Void, and Solar in one entity has never been seen before in known history, making him unique as far as he knows. The Sunscale in particular, find the idea of a single entity being able to manifest more than one elemental energy, to be one of the highest levels of blasphemy against their Gods and the natural order of the universe.
>>
>>1730917
With all our delicious and fancy toy, our cute and powerfull general and our gigantic army, I often forgot that Jadyk is no joke at all. He is a crazy powerfull Necromancer, especially with Necrotic, and can use Void and Solar on top of telekinesis. And he is also a powerfull fighter with his spear.

Gosh, the Matriarch is lucky to be powered by the Arc Surge; Jadyk could probably eat her otherwise.
>>
>>1731025
QD and I kinda came to the conclusion that the Armada is becoming an enemy in a MMO

Each general would be their own boss or raid instance, the Reconstructed would be the common enemies and the Legion are the PCs for when the expansion where the Armada becomes a playable faction
>>
>>1731038
>becoming an enemy in a MMO
fund it, I would totally play an MMO with this universe
>>
>>1730917
All the more reason to go beyond even the gods themselves.
One can not achieve apotheosis if one doesn't risk it all.

I'm all in favor of getting the ark, preferably from the matriarch for thematic reasons although it would probably be safer to get ark from the weakest source possible, too much and we can it can consume us
>>
I an in full support for Jadyk absorbing the Arc. Like Grave said, there has never been a figure capable of controlling multiple elements, and change follows him wherever he goes. By bringing together the Necrotic, Void, Arc and Solar, he shall become a central hub the entire world can revolve around. A power to which the universe shall bow with trembling and rejoice in the new order he shall bring.

Some of you argue against doing so because of the risk posed by foes like the Masked, but I say that their threats and posturing are empty gestures. Jadyk will soon become too powerful for them to manipulate or destroy. They have enjoyed playing their games, feeding on the universe like bloated parasites hiding in the shadows. Treating billions of lives like expendable resources, and reveling in their imagined superiority. But now? Jadyk is going to toss aside the chess board and drag them screaming into the light.
>>
Idea, we still have the necromanser that caused the outbreak right?
Can't we use him as a conduit to connect to all the undead he controls and make them kill them selves?
Surly us and all our necromansers can do it
>>
>>1731161
I want Jadyk to get the Arc,but I can wait for it. The mystery entities are an unknown quantity and should be treated carefully, especially since they can freeze time and we dont know enough about them to predict their personality. Just dont sap the Matriarch and wait until we know more. We are already extremely powerful on a personal level so we can afford to wait. Also you mistake the Three Voices for the Masked. While the Masked diddle around with events and people, these new players are different in that they dont sound as if its a game to them and that they also froze Jadyk, the person they were speaking to,something the Masked never did. Some anons have gotten a high on how powerful we are,but seem to forget the abnormalities in the Arc,the disappearance of the faction that gave us an anal pounding before(we have more diverse powers, but we have not returned to what we once were in terms of raw power),and that the Sunscale, experts in killing the necrotic, have largely ignored us.
We are just the largest fish in a pound that is about to be introduced to a larger pond.
>>
>>1731290
This
I don't think Jadyk is weak or anything, but we must be carreful, as Grave said, we are the first to ever do this and to attain such power. We don't know what can happen, and act with patience in this.

The Arc will be us, just not yet. But soon, we should begin by taking answer from this misterious trio, for we can be patient, but don't like being toyed with.
>>
>>1731290
I think the wraith bitch is one of the 3 voices.

Just gonna throw this out there, the first thing I thought from when this whole non-sense with the three jumped up was that it was the representatives of our non-native elements telling us off, EI the mother, the Arc, and whoever Ghuls patron was/thefather.

Furthermore my guts telling me this Nekris talk is a red herring and the last voice is the echo of the wormstar, or whoever is in the necrotic throne right now.

Just saying, it seems much more likely that the element telling us to go out and consume, and generally not threatening us like the other assholes would be our home turf. Doesnt seem right that the Arc would call out to be conquered.

Not quite sure how the necrotic would manifest through arc energy like that but Im just throwing it out there as my bet.

"You must give in to your hunger. Heed only thyself. Slaughter the forsaken Heir, consume their flesh, devour the Arc. Become all within one, become Abomination!"
Giving into hunger and only heeding ourselves goes utterly counter to our MO. We try to build and not only consume. We care for the well being of others and not just ourselves. The three other voices could still be bad,but at least they dont immediately sound like what a parent would say is "no good for you".You say that the voice might be necrotic, but we have repeatedly said that giving into the basest part of our necrotic nature would have a meaningless end.
If some of the three voices are the Mother and/or the Father then they arnt as immediately assholish as their greatest followers. If they are not but still embodiment of the Solar and Void, then we know that the Mother and Father do not have a monopoly on those Energies.
>>
>>1733443
Grave has said before that no one single elemental "God" has a monopoly over the elements.

What would convince you that we should attempt stealing the Arc?
>>
>>1733553
In terms of stealing the ark
if you want to meta game it, stealing the ark won't kill us. We and grave are having too much fun for this quest to end. It might change us and the quest but we won't die
The only real downside is we might piss off some people that we would eventually piss off anyway, so might as well take the power now so we can have time to get used to it to use all out powers to there full potential before the living factions side together to stop us

As time goes on more and more forces will come to kill us, our only hope is to be powerful enough to kill them first.

Take the power, take our throne and the king Ethereal balanced on a razors edge
>>
>>1733768
It could corrupt us tough, Abomination hint that. We shouldn't take any risk. It's not like that will be the only Matriarch ever; we should make thing clear before, and steal the Ark latter.
>>
>>1733772
But becoming an Abomination seems like a good thing after Vle'Karak said that them three becoming loyal to Jadyk makes them Abominations as well.

I'm just worried the Arc Surge will fade and we lose our chance to take the Arc
>>
>>1733795
We didn't needed a special event to take the other elements tough. Nothing tell us we will be unable to take the Arc after the Surge.

Beside Gluttony and letting our instinct have the better on us is kinda the opposite of what we want to do.
>>
>>1733807
I'm thinking we might need it because otherwise our innate Necrotic power would just eat it rather than absorb it.

Guess all this debate is pointless until the moment comes and presents itself to us. There might be new info by then that determines our choices
>>
>>1733823
>I'm thinking we might need it because otherwise our innate Necrotic power would just eat it rather than absorb it.

What ever gave you that impression?
>>
>>1733828
Mostly guessing since the Arc is naturally weak against the Necrotic.

The Solar nearly consumed us from the inside out by feasting on our Necrotic energy. So I'm mostly guessing.

Also this whole thing stinks like Nekris' doing
>Disappear without a corpse
>His soulbound sword is missing
>The Surge starts right after
>The Ahkam that Tlacex fought claims that "something" blocked her from the Surge
>Arc anomalies begin manifesting in areas of intense Arc energy because of devices created by Nekris
>The Arc entity is recognized by the Ahkam prisoners

I dunno, seems like too many coincidences
please don't be mad if I guessed the plot, Grave
>>
>>1733886
The ark surge is nekris calling to us
Lets bring him home
If we absorb the ark in the ark surge we might be able to connect his soul to our telepathic system and let him be reborn in a new body
>>
>>1733768
>before the living factions side together to stop us

That's just it though, we're on the path to having that never happen at all. We're allied with the entire armatocere, stonestar, and ructu species, as well as significant factions of other species. They aren't going to just turn on us. Why would they?

The endgame I see isn't us vs. the galaxy. It's us vs. the Masked, with a side of Suneater.

Ok, here is why I say we should get the ark from the matriarch
At our core we are necrotic, that is why it was so dangerous for us to get the power solar, it was a fire and we where like gas.
But we did it, the hardest power to get we already have
Now with the ark we are the fire and the ark is the gas.
The hard part is getting enough of it to take hold in us before our natural necrotic powers eat it all
So we need to suck the ark out of a matriarch in an ark surge if we have any hope of ever getting it.
It's now or never guys
tfw getting the power ark gives us a glowing blue light in our eye sockets and makes up talk in all caps
>>
>>1734902
All the more reason to take the power now so that we are strong enough to take what's coming.
The matriarch is a key player in the masked game, and we have been told that there are many who want us taken down a peg. When we win this fight even if we don't take the ark that faction of masked will throw everything they have at us
>>
>>1734932
There's something to be said for not declaring war until you're ready to win it.

I think grabbing the Arc at this point messes up the Masked's game too much. We want to use them against each other for as long as we can.
>>
>>1734947
Beside, the very thing that want us to eat the Arc claim it will make us a Abomination falling for his Gluttony; while the other say we are doing good bringing hope but warned us about the danger of eating the Arc right now.
>>
>>1734947
There is also something to be said about opportunity knocking only once
Necrotic consumes ark. If we have any hope of getting the power ark we are going to need a damn big well to drink from because our necrotic will be eating it almost as fast as we consume it
>>
>>1734958
Yes but just after that papa snake said >Come, niece and nephew, let us commence blasphemy and become abominations in the eyes of our family,
We will become an abomination, but in who's eyes?
It is our gluttony and greed that got us this far. Our gluttony for tech, our greed for the happiness of our people.
This galaxy is filled with pain and so empty of hope. An abomination in the eyes of such a galaxy would be a paragon of good
>>
>>1734987
>It is our gluttony and greed that got us this far.
Not really when you think about it, this is what leaded us to be defeated, what leaded to the destruction of the First Armada.

Also this is from the point of view of BOTH the thing that want us to eat it and
>This galaxy is filled with pain and so empty of hope. An abomination in the eyes of such a galaxy would be a paragon of good
The guy who think this is true, and that we are bringing hope to the galaxy while it REALLY need it.

I don't think the trio want us harm, they where pushing us to continue what we are doing while warning us about the Arc.

>Now or never
You do realize that this is just one sector. We have several more matriarchs that we can sap the Arc from later. We have been warned by entities that can freeze time and us,thus rendering us helpless. They have warned us that we would become an Abomination, with the third saying this would involve us giving into our hunger and only heading ourselves.
I WANT the Arc.We WILL get the Arc. We just dont need it now. Let us not be hasty for a power boost that we can get later. There is still so much we do not know and we should wait and learn more.
In regards to our innate necrotic power growing to great to accommodate the Arc,the voices said it wasnt ours to "take". I believe that their might be a way to be gifted with it. Our core was necrotic, yet we gained two new energies,so we do not need a spark to cultivate. The universe is big with entities that have been able to manipulate energies before us,so it is not impossible that we can find another way to gain the Arc. Im just worries that you anons are so focused on power that "might" soon be unobtainable that you seek it without consequences of what "might" also happen.
>>
>>1735026
Also consider that the voice the encouraged us to take the ark is strongly implied to be nekris.

You are so concerned that the 3 voices are a threat to us, but consider that they like the masked could be manipulators, and they seeing that we are good try to appeal to our good nature in an attempt to keep us weak enough to not be a threat to them.
Granted that that's a weak argument, but if nothing else I support taking the ark from the matriarch for thematic reasons imagine the in setting mysth and story's of us taking the power from a matriarch at her strongest
Because if we are a pawn in a game of many players than being a fan favorite is in our best interest
Remember, don't be boring
>>1731038
Will us being necrotic make it more difficult to get the power ark from someone?
>>
>>1735095
Honestly I don't think trying to steal the Arc just because it will look cool and put everyon on their ass. They are too many risk and beside, the voice where noot looking like they where threatening us, but more like WARNING us; that they appreciate what we are doing but that we shouldn't be to greedy in such a short time or we could become something we would not like.
>>

>is strongly implied to be nekris.

This wishful thinking that leave us vulnerable to manipulation.

Its pretty simple, if we take the Arc we are act like the old Armanda and the old habits that let us to our original defeat. If we do other wise, we set ourselves above the predations of our old self.

We don't need the Arc, let us draw a line here, show ourselves capable of restrain and set an example to our followers
>>
>>1735182
And it is this paralyzation by caution that also leaves us vulnerable to manipulation

Talking the ark is not like acting like the old armada, the old armada never mixed powers with the exception of void and necrotic.
And how is acting like a predictor a bad thing? Yes the wolf is the predator but so is the sheepdog. We take so we can better protect and give. Do not mistake a lack of fangs for a moral good.
"Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and their freedoms."

And we do need the ark. We are still too weak, we couldn't even beat our sister litch in a one on one fight how will we be strong enough to protect our people.
>>
>>1735178
Also it hasn't been a short time, we have had captive live akham that we could have drained for well over an irl year. Us getting the ark is beyond over due
>>
>>1735095
>Will us being necrotic make it more difficult to get the power ark from someone?
While you have never tried to take the Arc yourself, you believe that Nekris being able to attain it was because of Krotur having the Arc potential.

For yourself however, you lack this potential, the same way that you also lacked the potential for the Void and Solar. Until you were actually attained the Void you believed you were purely a Necrotic being.

So short answer for if you believe it'll be difficult to attain the Arc normally, then yes

>So short answer for if you believe it'll be difficult to attain the Arc normally, then yes
So the normal situation where we would get the ark would be more difficult.
Than an abnormal situation like the one we face now would be easier, not including the fight with her to get her to the point we can take the power of course.

I understand the reasoning everyone has for caution, and yes there is a legitimate risk.
But seeing as we have delayed over a year to take the power ark I don't want to risk needing to wait another year for it

Although an idea did strike me when I was reading the arguments against it. "The power is not ours to take"
Is taking the power lethal for the one the power is being taken from? And dose it strip them of that power?
Luckily we already know. With the creation of our first solar undead we took the power from someone and they didn't die or loose there power

So why not ask a rather large snake that we have on our side to give us the power? Would that satisfy all?
And imagine the surprise on the matriarchs face when we give her quite the shock
>>
>>1735415
So we ask all 3 snakes to give us a measure of there power right after there proclamation to the world.

We would satisfy both the 3 voices and the ark entity

>>1735342
And it would not be attaining the ark normally so it fits that as well
>>
>>1735265

We got two unknown entities.

One underlines how the masked tell half-truths and deceive us to amuse themselves and that some of them wish to see us destroy along with our works, it admits being uncertain of our path, but that it seems to lead to bringing hope to a galaxy. Then it gives us advice and warning about deny our hunger and vice for consumption. And that consuming the Arc will have consequences. It tell us to fear becoming an Abomination.

What do we get from this? It admits not being all knowing but is well inform about us and the masked, it acknowledges our recent work with the living, and its trying to warm us against doing something for the consequences it will bring.

The other tell us to give in to our hunger, not to listen to anyone, to kill and consume the forsaken Heir and devour the Arc. And encourage us to become an Abomination.

What do we get from this? He is telling us to ignore everyone, to throw all caution and restrain to the wind and become an Abomination. It gives no warming about what might happen or who it might upset.

You could make an argument that the former is trying to manipulated us by mentioning our new mind set and work with the living. But the second doesn't care about anything beside us consume the the Arc, not even a warming against what doing so might bring.

One is telling us this is dangerous, don't do it; the other is telling us don't worry or listen to anyone, just do it.

The smart thing should be testing if putting the four elements in one body is dangerous before doing so in ourselves.

Or you think this course of action is being paralyze by caution and being vulnerable to manipulation?
>>
>>1735476
No it's a liability good idea, the the problem is how? We are already an impossibility, how will we find a test subject?

But would being freely given the power by one or more of the 3 akham now on our side satisfy your concerns? The 3 voices warned among other things against taking the power, but being given it might work
>>
>>1735516
*legitimately good
Sorry auto correct
>>
>>1735523

We have Think Tanks and Deep Rot to run theoretical simulations and Reconstructed to do experiments with. Any ounce of information we can get should helps us make an inform decision.

Just note one thing, if we were to follow the advice of the second entity, we shouldn't even do this. It told us heed only ourselves. What if Deep Rot told us it was a bad idea? Should we still listen to the second entity?
>>
>>1735438
>>1735516
I'm avoiding saying anything else because I don't want to influence the decision any further beyond what occurs in the story because I think allowing everyone to use metagame knowledge kinda loosens the impact of stuff

But, from your experiences and theories of the Deep Rot, it appears that in order for you to attain an elemental power, it must be done so the same way you would steal someone's life force.

Sunblessed Glucors was taken to the brink of death and it was only their own very formidable stamina and power that let him to cling to that spark of life allowing his Reconstruction into Valresko.

The Deep Rot even has a theory that it was only because they were so weakened and their internal flame nearly extinguished, that allowed the Necrotic to take root in their biomass allowing for Reconstruction then reigniting the Solar spark with their new Necrotic energy.

>>1735599
The kind of research you are proposing would require up to make several multiple month long tech advices before we get into the right category of study to get the answers you want, and would likely alert the same people you are trying to avoid
Because to have a theoretical research you need something to go off and there is no source of data on what would happen, our existence is already as cutting edge knowledge on the subject that has ever happened and the only way to know more is to just do it.

I understand the want to study what would happen first but right now there is nothing to study
also to meta game this choice is clearly a split path thing, nether leads to death but lead to embracing our unknown potential and introduces new enemies and factors into the game that we would then be powerful enough to fight or to stay the course and carry on as normal
He won't force us down an evil path if we take the ark, he is already self conscious about railroading. No matter what happens we will be in control of ourselves[/spoilers]
>>
>>1735613
So in order for us to be given the power we would need someone with the power willing to die to give it to us
Dose it have to be an akham or could we ask a particular fanatical person in our military with the power ark to give it to us?

>>
>>1735892
>N

We've got Arc-powerful elements in our faction already, especially now that we've got Ahkam on our side. Leaving it until later deprives us of little, and avoids a lot of unnecessary risk. We don't need to personally have arc powers right now to accomplish our goals, and claiming them might actually screw up our goals. I think most of the reason for claiming Arc for ourselves right now is just ego.

If the voices are being honest, leaving the Arc alone for now is aligned with our goals and avoids them being frustrated by powerful forces.

If the voices are just saying what they're saying as a test of what we value and whether we've really changed, the decision is still the same.

There's a chance the voices are just fully convinced of what motivates us now and are trying to use reverse psychology to make sure we don't claim the Arc by associating it with things we don't want to be. But I think that's much less likely.

The risk/reward just doesn't make sense right now. Besides, prudence, selflessness and moderation are what we lacked historically, and mastering them is a prerequisite to becoming what we ultimately want to be. Gods aren't just powerful. The Wormstar was powerful too, and it's dead. We don't just want to be powerful, we want to be capable of getting everyone possible on our side. Once we've learned all that's necessary to do this right and gotten everyone on our side that can be, we'll go for it.

We almost took over the galaxy and got shit on by rocks and bugs. Our literal god got eaten by our old ally the crazy space bitch, time pausing ninjas have been fucking with us since day 1, and we still haven't put on their mask we took. We are one of the absolute smallest powers in the whole galaxy and our ship levels are puny as fuck right now. Cautious is good, Jadyk is cautious, and we will find a way ebentually, because we always do. If the best argument is "our plot armor won't let grave kill us so lets do it!" Then we shouldn't be doing it because that is shitty. I love the quest, it is something I always look forward to, but if we use abusing the QM's love of the quest as a way to get away with shit we are ruining the sense of danger and mystery that I enjoy so much. We are an awesome space lich, but we are still a small fish, and every time we grow we find a fish bigger than us, so let's continue to be sneaky and crafty and not just snatch things without checking it out first.

Winner,winner,chicken dinner!
Jadyk has had to be defensive, had to be cautious since light first entered his tomb had he had to PLAY DEAD! We have tried to avoid actions that would have large scale consequences in the past.
As for the [people complaining that Jadyk is afraid of spooky voices, these spooky voices stopped time, something only one other group has been capable of, and also froze us,something that has never happened before. They dont seemed constrained by the Masked lust for shenanigans so we cant play with them since they wouldnt want to play. Finally, they seem to care for the galaxy while also giving us the benefit of the doubt. Thes voices arnt some whispers in a spoopy tomb;they are voices of Power that have given us a warning that we would be fools to go against simply because it goes against our MO and our cautious(if at time flamboyant) nature.
In regards to the 4th voice, I doubt its Nekris,or at least the Nekris we know. Nekris wasn't Krotor,so this voice may have simply come from what was,but is no longer,Nekris. It didnt sound like him either. Nekris wasn't known for using exclamation marks for one

After receiving her orders from you directly Sur-Quro had hastened to gather her equipment and her subordinate Arbiters. She found them already waiting for her at the landing pad, each having their own psychic visit from you but to both your surprise and hers there were also a handful of the Armatocere initiates. A pair of Solar infused Cacti stood with one that had been infused with the Void, all three veteran warriors along with a Solar Mindvine that showed great potential. They volunteered to join after hearing of the disaster, Sapling Slrrt already signing off on their request.

Sur-Quro pondered only for a moment before allowing them to join the Arbiters but she made a note to ask you later if they were allowed to be deployed into combat, not seeming to remember that the symbiot attached to her spine allowed you to hear her thoughts.

Their corvette takes off after they had boarded along with a contingent of newly forged Solar Wardens and volunteer Legionnaires. As it climbed out of the atmosphere Sur-Quro and the other Arbiters found their newly forged Solar weaponry waiting for them. They began to pass out Solar Flails and sunthrowers, each Arbiter taking at least one of the handheld spitefires while others intended to wield two. Or in the Mindvines case, a multitude carried in their dexterous vines.

Waiting for Sur-Quro was a sealed crate that her symbiot informs her was sent by Valresko himself and within were several finely crafted and potent weapons. The yuyut mentally voiced her approval of the Arbiter Gauntlet she had helped design and inspire, the powered gauntlet flexing its claws as they glow with heat. The Solar Flail looked like wrought bone reminiscent of Valreskos soulbound weapon Anathema. A pair of spitefires that she could either wield in each hand or attach to her forearms like most yuyut weaponry but she was mainly impressed by the heavy Sunthrower that required her powered Solar Armor to move with any sense of ease.

Valreskos voice sounds in her head, the symbiot providing a direct link to her mind, <My chosen Arbiter should be equipped with the tools appropriate for her station. Wormstar guide you, Sur-Quro. I have confidence in your capabilities>

The corvette wraps itself in twisted space-time, it's combi-drive spooling up as it accelerated away from Horizon's Drop before disappearing into the cosmic distance with a flash of light and radiation. Not far away nor long after the Clanship of Captain Troma and multiple Dagger ships depart from their docks at the Wormstars Finger and spool their Skip Drips to follow.

The sound of the crowds and the music filling the colosseum grow louder as you ascended to the platform that Rethak had made his proclamation only hours before. It was shrouded mostly in darkness under the night sky, the crowds attention drawn to the large holoscreens showing replays of recent races. The smoke of narcotikelp and other inhalants rose up from the crowds made up of Legionnaires, Armada citizens and visiting Pirates.

The screens flickered out and the music faded while the lights dimmed. There was a moment of confusion among the crowd before the holoscreens are projected the same moment you are illuminated standing at the edge of the platform by bright lights that would have been painful had you any eyes. A hush falls across the crowd as your skull is projected across the arena.

Your voice rings out, projected by the countless Chitin Choir statues that decorated the colosseum, "Today is and important date for many reasons. You already learned one of these grand reasons as hours ago Commander Rethak announced his ascension and the glory of Immortality," there was cheering from the Legionnaires in the crowds as the pirate guests look on in confusion.

You continue, "I have my own proclamations to make. First of all, I know that many of you that now live as citizens of the Armada or as loyal Legionnaires were once under the thrall of the Ahkam Dynasty," there was loud booing and jeers from those very people you speak of, their anger at their former rulers well known and expressed. Not only a day prior there had been a demonstration of former Ahkam soldiers and Stonestar burning an effigy of the serpents in Iti'a'Ropku.

"Many of the battles the Armada have fought have been against the Dynasty, the bones of defeated Ahkam serpents decorating our plazas and memorials, their scales forming the armor and weaponry of our elite Arcdancers," the cheering returns, emboldened by speaking of the Ahkam's defeats, "But as with all actions, these victories have repercussions.

"Matriarch Quantac'Vrix heads for our territories this very moment, intent on seeking revenge for slaying and capturing her children," an audible intake of air was heard from the multitudes and you raise your hands as you continue, "Compounded with the loss of the Bastion system and it's peoples the Ructu and Stonestar, her rage is formidable and worthy of unease." The crowds begin talking among themselves rapidly, a sense of alarm racing through them.

"But fear not!"

Your voice, projected loud and firm, silences them and draws their attention, "I recognize the strength of the Matriarch and know that this battle shall be fierce, but I have faith in all of our capabilities, faith in my Reconstructed Generals and faith in my Legion. The Armada shall not die or be broken during this conflict, but we shall rise up stronger than before."
>>
>>1745713
Tell 'em Jadyk!
>>
I wonder how they will feel about our new snake friends?
>>
>>1745713
"For that is the way of the New Necrotic Armada?

"Every battle that we face, we grow in strength. Just look among you now, many of you were once enemies sworn to conflict by generations of warfare and pain, but now you stand side-by-side in both battle and peace. Friends and allies, a new family," you say and watch as those in the crowds glance at each other, realizing the truth of your words from the members of a dozen species collected there under the night sky.

"I know that there are some sins that can never be forgiven. I myself am guilty of the deaths and razing of countless worlds and peoples in my past, I am a Lich, antithesis to Life itself. Yet I struggle to atone for my past sins, hoping that someday the good I can create will someday outweigh the evil. I will never be fully free of the guilt of my sins but I struggle each moment to make up for them in some way.

"If you can forgive and accept me as your leader, serving to help bring about my vision of the future for this galaxy, then I hope that you can forgive and accept my friends, as well" you say as the rest of the platform is illuminated and Vle'Karak slithers out of the starwell with Cve'jok and Dne'tec following close behind.

Many in the crowd let out gasps of alarm at seeing the serpents, many recognizing the dreaded Vle'Karak, while others began shouting insults and jeering as their hurt and anger bubbled up to the surface.

The three serpents coiled themselves up behind you, the younger serpents on each side of Vle'Karak. The older Ahkam kept his head raised proudly as the other two seem more reserved. Cve'jok's hood partially flared but consciously held back to appear less threatening despite her unease.

"Silence!" your voice rings out in the old Wormtongue filled with annoyance and a stillness falls.

"Today shall be one of proclamations but this one is not my own. I know that I cannot expect any of you to forgive or accept them immediately, but please, respect my wishes and hear them out," you say and motion to Vle'Karak, the holoscreens shifting to focus on the serpents.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Cyf8kPsoMM

Vle'Karak was silent for a time as he looked out across those gathered. Finally he speaks, his voice carried through the colosseum and broadcast to all Legion outposts, "I was known by many names. Butcher, Terror, Worldeater, among those that are less complimentary. But now, I only have one name. I am Vle'Karak.

"Known and feared by many, even by those that served me loyally, I am known mostly as a monster. For many years I proudly served the Dynasties, leading campaigns against our enemies and terrorizing the galaxy in victory after victory. It was during my campaign invading a system held by the Osjiic Empire that I was finally met with defeat," he speaks, his voice steady and firm in the otherwise silent colosseum, "I was defeated by the Predator Nekris, a formidable foe who in time became a friend."

"In my time as a guest of Jadyk since that time, I have had ample opportunity to think on my life and the purpose it serves. I thought on what it means to be an Ahkam now that I had been so thoroughly defeated. I knew I deserved death and more for the atrocities I inflicted upon the galaxy. Yet, Lord Jadyk and Predator Nekris delayed my execution and helped open myself to the truth that we Ahkam have deluded ourselves into ignoring."

He looks directly at the Scourge that flew in front of him with its camera, "We Ahkam believe and claim that we are divine beings, that we are gods made flesh. I say this, here and now, backed up by my kin Cve'jok and Dne'tec, that we Ahkam are no more gods than any of those that serve us. Only because of our immense strength at manipulating the Arc, once granted by a now extinct race who created us from mindless beasts, are we able to maintain this charade."

The other two Ahkam bow their heads as they were mentioned but they look to Vle'Karak in surprise as he shares the Ahkam's greatest secret, "We Ahkam were manufactured as weapons but we were too strong and destroyed our creators, believing ourselves greater than them in our ancestors megalomania. As a species we have caused much suffering across the eons, enslaving and eradicating many in our pursuit of power and greed.

"It is only now, after my time under the tutelage of Lord Jadyk and Nekris, that I have come to realize this truth," he says, raising himself up as Arc energy crackles along his scales, "It is my solemn belief that his New Necrotic Armada and Lord Jadyk are the most capable at righting the very many, many wrongs my species have inflicted upon the galaxy.

"That is why I, Vle'Karak, formerly a Champion of the Ahkam, renounce the Dynasties and pledge my eternal loyalty to Lich-Lord Jadyk and the New Necrotic Armada!"

His voice carries out through the colosseum in the stunned silence. Cve'jok lifts her head, her hood flaring out, "I, Cve'jok and daughter of Quantac'Vrix, renounce the Dynasties and pledge my eternal loyalty to Lich-Lord Jadyk and the New Necrotic Armada!"

Dne'tec bows his head, touching his bladed tail to his brow before lifting it to speak out firmly, "I, Dne'tec and son of Quantac'Vrix, renounce the Dynasties and pledge my eternal loyalty to Lich-Lord Jadyk and the New Necrotic Armada!"

All three bow their heads, Arc energy crackling along their forms. Vle'Karak raises his head to speak once more, "Hear our proclamation and spread it far and wide! The Ahkam are no more gods than any other being that they have enslaved! Spread this proclamation and let those they enslave hear and know this, their liberation is coming!"

There was silence for a brief moment before the colosseum erupts into cheering, those gathered hardly able to believe what they have heard.

Vle'Karak looks startled at the reaction, even more confused as former Ahkam soldiers began to chant his name. He looks to you as you float up, drawing the attention of the holocameras, "It is with my blessing and the through the guidance of the Wormstar that I welcome these three into the New Necrotic Armada. I can only hope that they are only the first of many future Ahkam who shall see the error of their ways and join us in our crusade for atonement.

"By the Wormstar, to Death and through it to Eternity!" you call out and are answered by thousands of voices and they were joined by three new voice repeating your words.

No sooner had the Ahkam made their proclamation you were alerted by the Eyegores in the Bastion system and shortly after the Urdir system.

You look through their multitudes of eyes and watch with alarm as Storm Gates billow and grow, lightning flashing within as they grow larger and larger. The silhouettes of warships were highlighted within moments before they burst forth as the Ahkam fleets emerge from the Arc.

Alarms rang throughout the Armada worlds as picket fleets moved in reaction, their Think Tanks calling out to the Deep Rot for advice as the fleets moved to attack.

In the Urdir system the Storm Gate appeared in orbit over one of the rocky worlds that harvested much of the Armadas ore and built many of it's warships. The attacking fleet had many ships within, nearly a dozen Battleships at it's core as they rapidly move to engage the local picket fleet.

In Bastion a much larger Storm Gate appears in orbit around the inhabitable world of chlorine lakes between Rukor and the asteroid belt. The fleet that emerges dwarfed the invasion fleet that Vle'Karak had led against B'Nan, the Eyegore shocked by the number of warships that emerged from the supernatural storm. Nearly thirty battleships and hundreds of sub-capitals raced out of the Arc, the Arc signatures of a multitude of Ahkam serpents present. They split their forces, a third departing for Rukor highlighted against the star as the rest make their way toward Bastion on the outer edge of the system.

War has come to the Armada!

Did we ever get to build ships? We stopped ship production since op made new system waiting for ship system revamp which never got made.
>>
>>1747212
Well that's just not true.

Ships are orderable and in fact with the next thread some ships will be just rolling off the assembly line just in time to defend the Armada.

I may forget to ask for ship build orders but that doesn't mean people can't remind me by placing orders

Okay, that's great. I think there was a list couple of threads ago

Man, that was beautiful. That endless space ost gave it a nice impact too.

>>1750351
Yeah, it was a great choice.

It's sort of become what I consider Vle'Karak's (redemption) theme

NEXT THREAD WHEN
>>
>>1755008
Saturday
>>
>>1747212
No, because any time anyone posts a ship order Graves ignores it.

Even if you come up with a novel ship design, that you hashed out with the other players.

Even when you repost the order for three consecutive threads.

At this point I think we should face the fact that ship construction and production simply aren't aspects of this quest anymore. Graves is totally into the story characters but suffice it to say he's given up on allowing us input into the growth of the New Necrotic Armada.

Nah, just wait until the next ship-to-ship engagements and he'll probably throw the new designs in when it's cinematically and strategically important enough.

Are you going to say what these ships you are vaguing about?

I've said time and time again that to fucking remind me if you want ships built or designed. Repost it before the thread falls off the board and it'll be in the pastebin before the next thread.
>>
>>1758996
Also what do you mean I've given up allowing you folks to give input?

This is quite honestly a little insulting

And I have tried, plenty of time before I got the hint and gave up. I still have a list of multiple ship designs saved that I gave up on trying to push because I couldn't see the point. Half the time I can't even figure out when exactly the end of the thread is, or when you expect us to post them, because you don't tell us. You just leave, and after an hour or so has passed since your last post it becomes clear you're not coming back until tomorrow, and that we've missed our one one chance in a thread to discuss ships with you.

Because ships don't seem to have any sort of role in the quest at this point, in either design or the number we deploy them in. None of the ships we've designed (or the ones you designed for that matter) are ever mentioned in the quest even during the battles. You might fluff the encounters by saying they were present there but we have no idea that happened, or what role they had in the fighting, or how many were shot down, etc. The ships that you did notice and add to the pastebin may as well have gone the way of the shockdrome, or any of the other features you've dropped from the shipbuilding pastebin without notice for all we know. Just because they're in the pastebin doesn't mean they're in the quest.

Honestly man, if you're not down to deal with the hassle of translating the minutiae of individual ship features into blow by blow accounts of space naval combat, that's fine, just please be up front about it with us. It's your quest, we can't force you into doing things you're not up for.

You do realize that the threads stay open for quite some time and that he lurks the thread constantly as long as it's still on the board right? Why do you think he was able to reply so soon after your post while the thread is on page 10

You're just butthurt that your special designs got overlooked. Why don't you post those designs like Jyoti said?

Not trying to be confrontational but why stick around if Jyoti pisses you off so much?
