Character info pastebin in progress: http://pastebin.com/iB0tb7rz
Dice odds for best of 3: http://pastebin.com/994WTT3g

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.

Combat mechanics involve three rolls of 1d100, taking the best, and using the base accuracy and crit ranges of the the PTU system, roughly, but the 'turn order' will be more like the anime, where sometimes you can do a few moves in a row or be hit by a combo of moves yourself, all depending on circumstances. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves and also may leave you open to an interrupt, so beware of that timing. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first.

Pokemon and trainers are unique, and may have certain specializations, skills, or other things that the video-game mechanics might not allow. Some examples: That kung fu Bellsprout in the anime, that crystal Onix, or a Roggenrolla that can fly. Herb's perception skills, pokemon knowledge, context clues in general, and other things will hopefully come into play to avoid completely unfair, unforeseeable bullshit, but expect more bullshit from more advanced trainers.

Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.

Pokemon:
Gobble (Munchlax)
Mace (Roggenrola)
Belladonna (Roselia)
Dice (Croconaw)
Vulpix (Vulpix)

Location: Eelilee island, Fire Temple

Recently: You had an aura journey, completed the shard ceremony, and worked on cooking

Hi Gobble!

I think the Hana pastebin actually gave me diabetes with how adorable it was.

You want to have a talk with Laki about how she’s been cranky lately. But maybe you should do something to improve her mood first.

“How about a neck rub?”

“Right now, in the Fire Temple courtyard? I don’t think- Oh. Okay.”

Keira and Hana talk about something just out of earshot. Hana is holding Togepi, but almost drops her as she tries to grab Nincada off of Keira’s head.

“Ha!” Laki laughs. She already seems to be feeling a lot better. “Togepi such a little character. Pretty much won us that gym battle, though.”

You want to ask about that, but there’s a more pressing issue at hand. “Did that chef make you jealous.”

She tenses up. “I don’t know.”

“You don’t know?” You do your best to keep your tone as warm as possible. You're just confused. You want to understand what’s going on so you can fix it.

“I just...yes. Okay? Are you happy?”

“Laki...”

“Sorry. It’s not your fault. Hana pretty much won the gym for me, that chef can talk to you on a level I can’t. Keira can help you with aura stuff. I’m just a useless lump who bullied her way into being with you. And I know you’re going to tell me a bunch of sweet stuff to make me feel better, but that just makes me feel worse. I don’t want to be a burden like that. I don’t want to feel this way either. I’m frustrated and I don’t know what to do.” You open your mouth to say something, but she stops you. “And I guess I’ve been thinking about telling my parents. Mom always said she wished dad took more wives so she’d have less to handle. She told me over and over to get a man with more than myself. I told that was stupid, and if anything I’d have my own harem. I could provide with my own two hands.” She sighs. “I’m not looking forward to the ‘I told you so.’ And my dad...I don’t know how he’ll react.

“It’ll be fine. I’m sure of it.” You tell her. “And don’t be so hard on yourself. Keira and Hana feel the same way, too. It’s harder to see what you bring to the table from your own perspective. You don't realize what you do since it feels like a completely normal thing for you.”

“Stop.”

“And you’re an inspiration to me. The reason I want to improve myself is so I can be more like you, because I admire your spirit.”

“Stop!” This time her voice is firm and angry.

“Sorry?” You tried your best not to inflect it like a question, but it just came out that way.

She looks away. “I don’t want that responsibility. I’ve had people look up to me before.”

You think back to what Jane told you, about how she used to look up to Laki and how crushed she was after the games. Before you can say anything though, Laki gets up and leaves, offering a small squeeze of your shoulder and a look that tells you she appreciates the gesture but doesn’t want to dwell on this. She picks up Bella.

Keira approaches with the Time Flower wrapped in a cloth.

“What’s up?”

She glances up. “Clouds.”

You don’t know if that was a joke or if she just didn’t understand the idiom.
“I’ve got a weird feeling about the Time Flower.” Keira tells you. “I shouldn’t be saying this, but I think we should be careful about who we take it to.”

You look at her, shocked to hear that. “What do you mean, careful?”

She shakes her head. “I don’t know. It’s just a feeling I have. And our scripture always tells us not to ignore our gut feelings.”

“Who do you think we should take it too?”

She shakes her head. “I don’t know that, either. Maybe I’m just being silly about this whole thing. I don’t have the same aura powers as you. Forget I said anything. Lets just take it to the Ghost Temple”

“I guess there’s no rush. We can hold onto it. Maybe take it to Tabo?”

Keira thinks and nods. “it’s a Time Flower, so it only makes sense to take it to the Grass Temple.” She sounds like she's convincing herself. “Good idea.”

You consider checking it out yourself, but now isn’t really the time. You gather up your pokemon and the girls and check to see if everyone is ready to go. Nobody has any pressing business, and can get moving at any time.

You check your bag and look at the fire Temple one more time, searching your brain for anything else you want to do before leaving.

You’re eager to investigate the flower, but decide not to right outside of the Fire Temple. You hitch up your bag and get moving.

You try to chat a bit with Vulpix as you walk. She’s more at ease as time goes by, but still feeling a bit out of place. You’re sure it keep getting better with time. She seems to like you and most of the other pokemon, at least. She’s closest with Bella and Mace so far, and isn’t sure what to make of Dice.

Laki seems to be a lot better too. She must have gotten a good amount out of her system. By the time you reach the shore she’s even joking with Hana.

You’re not sure what to make of how those two think of each other. They’re talking a lot more than they used to, which makes sense, but you still think there’s a wall there. Maybe it’s just your imagination because you’re closer to both of them than they are to each other.

You board Wailord. It happily greets you, and you give it a nice pat on the head. It takes off a little too quickly and you’re knocked over.

Hana helps lifts you back up with ease, but pretends it was hard. You thank her and watch the island slowly vanish.

What to do while you travel....

You’re not really sure. You decide to do a bit of everything. You start by getting everyone together for some light exercises. Nothing too strenuous, but enough to keep in shape. Mace takes it seriously, making Gobble take it seriously too. Dice joins in and the three of them have a brotherly pushup competition. It ends with each of them pushing the other over and laughing.

Bella and Vulpix are more restrained. They end up relaxing after. Vulpix is still a little standoff-ish though. You invite her to come with you to Wailord’s head so you can chat with both of them.

Dice swims next to Wailord, getting a little ahead, leaping out of the water and falling behind, then catching up again.

Vulpix is polite and kind, but seems unnerved at the big massive ocean. She’s never been off land like this. Wailord slaps its tail on the water to show how strong and stable it is, but you get the sense that it doesn’t really believe that. You did have a bit of a mess last time with Dragonair, after all.

In fact, he’s little a little unsure about Vulpix right now. Is it because she’s an ice pokemon?

You offer Wailord and Vulpix a small treat as you sit and chat. You have to throw it ahead of Wailord and let him swim towards it. Wailord is very gentle, avoiding rocking himself. Vulpix daintily nibbles hers for the first second, but scarf it down quickly after a short time.

“You know, Gobble is a pretty good cook himself.” You tell the snowy little pokemon.

She looks over to him, the shoots her head up.

“Gobble’s a good pokemon. He always makes sure everyone has something to eat. It’s not easy for a Munchlax to show that much restraint.”

She considers that for a moment. She doesn’t give a good reaction, but doesn’t give a negative one either. You guess his character matters more to her than his cooking ability.

Wailord looks tense. He’s worried he shook too much while eating.

“You did well, Wailord. I barely felt it.”

He doesn’t seem to confident.

“Hey. Don’t worry about before. That was a freak accident. The odds of something like that happening again are next to nothing.”

He’s still not coming around.

“Know what you need? A battle! You didn’t really get to shine at the fire gym, did you?”

He makes a noise confirming.

“Well, I’ve seen you battle, and I think you make a pretty formidable opponent. I’d like to battle you sometime, if that’s okay with you and Laki.”

He considers it, but makes a noise confirming it’s okay.

You look over to Laki.

“Yeah. Sure. When we get to Tabo let’s do it.”

Hana perks up at overhearing that.

You sit back and pet your new Vulpix for awhile. She’s been avoiding touching anyone else, but seems to enjoy getting scratched on the back of the head. You consider her name again.

“Do you like scratches, Sorbet?” You test out the name and give her a little more affection.

She leans her head into it, so you scratch harder. She doesn’t seem to mind the name at all.

Gobble overhears though, and energetically runs over, tapping a picture of ice cream from a magazine Hana had sticking out of her bag, and pointing to the Ice pokemon.

“Close.” You tell him. “Ice cream is a little different.”

He’s mesmerized as you tell him about ice cream, sorbet, gelato, and frozen yogurt. You don’t know how much sticks, but he enjoys listening and you enjoy talking about it. Even Sorbet seems at least a little interested. She forgets to be offended at Gobbles presence.
Tabo immediately sticks out to you. All the other islands had huge steep mountains, but not here. It’s a large, flat land. At least, from where you approach. You can just barely see the mountain far off in the distance through the light fog, and it’s not nearly as tall as the others. The prairie you see before you with a forest edge next to it reminds you of the land by your grandpa’s daycare. Especially with the occasional farm dotting the landscape.

“Tabo is the breadbasket of Loanah.” Laki informs you. “There’s an old abandoned town in the center you can find a lot of poison types at.”

“Why is it abandoned?”

“A long time ago, mainlanders set up factories there. But the industry failed. Lots of people lost their jobs, and views on mainlanders turned sour. There was a revival project that worked for a short while, but then an industrial accident happened and killed it off for good.”

“Oh.”

“Tabo has mainlanders. Not like you though. Red hair.”

“They mostly keep to themselves, though.” Keira adds.

“I think they’re encouraged to.” Hana mumbles.

They fill you in more about the island. The abandoned area is supposed to be safe to visit as long as you don’t eat food grown there. The active town in the middle is there the action is. The mainlander community is off to the extreme east area.

“Want to battle now, or after hitting a pokemon center?” Laki asks. It might be a bit unfair to battle Wailord after it just ferried everyone, but Laki doesn’t really see things that way. She thinks you’re either up for a challenge or you’re not, and a little unfairness is just part of the randomness of life you need to be prepared for. If you battle with a pokemon with a type disadvantage, that might even it out.

“I’m really curious about the mainlander community.” You tell them.

“They’re not the same type of mainlander as you.” Laki warns.

“That’s fine. I just want to see see what it’s like. And I have a hankering for making ice cream.”

Gobble leaps up at that idea. You pat him on the head, and he enjoys it for a minute, but he pretends he’s too cool for that when he sees Sorbet watching. You’d be hurt a little if you weren’t laughing at Mace and Dice giving him a bit of a hard time after.
Hana is reading her Pokedex as you walk. “Huh. There are a lot of Murkrow here too, apparently.”

“Yup! They live on all the islands, but this one is their favorite.” Keira climbs up a tree to get a good view of where you’re going. The trees are getting smaller but more numerous as you get closer. She points. “There’s a bus stop there. It’s the only bus route that isn’t on Gwo Boss.” She refers to the large island on the West side.

“That would save us some time.” Hana says.

“We could ride Wailord along the coast too.” Laki says. “We just need to walk a little farther so we’re on the other side of the jagged rock atoll.”

“Why don’t we just walk? It’ll take longer, but we’re not really in a hurry, right? We can see more of the island.”

“Works for me.” Laki says.

“Sure.” Hana flaps the bottom of her shirt to cool herself off. “I hope the breeze keeps up.”

It is getting a little warm. You guess you’ll stay under the shade of the trees as you go. Hana has it the worst thanks to her clothes covering so much. Laki complains about the sweat under her boobs and adjusts her shirt a lot. Keira seems perfectly fine with her light, barely covering clothes and body paint.

“On hot days, I mix it differently. It really helps. You should try it.”

“You want to paint Herb?” Laki asks.

“You don’t?”

Laki thinks for a moment, and gets that scary grin. You look to Hana, but her face mimics Laki’s.

You gulp as you enter the forest. At least you have your pokemon.

Bella playfully wipes a little paint on your arm.

“Where did you get that?”

She playfully runs away around a tree, ignoring your question.
You continue on into the forest, watching your pokemon. It’s easy, since the heat is slowing them down. Sorbet especially looks worse for wear. Despite that though, she keeps a graceful presence and declines your offer to go into her pokeball. There are too many things to sniff here.

“Can we take a five minute break?” Laki asks, finishing her water bottle.

“Yes please.” Hana sits on a log and takes out her Chinchou. She talks to it softly and begins charging up after a moment. You didn’t even think about that. You just assumed she’d say something. You guess she doesn’t want to be the one to stop the group, though.

Keira seems out of energy, too. At least, her own version of it. She’s still constantly moving around, but without her usual hopping and climbing.

You sit down on a tree stump and wipe your brow. You chug down some water and let yourself cool off.

When you’re good and rested though, you notice some pokemon just outside of the clearing. They’re not moving fast, but as you glance around, they seem like they’re everywhere.

“What are they?” Laki asks.

“Burmy!” Keira answers. “It’s their migration season, and... oh. They get pretty aggressive during migration.”

“Should we get moving?” Hana asks, still charging

“They seem pretty harmless.” Laki puts a hand on her hip.

Sorbet (Vulpix)

You watch as the Burmy very slowly migrate around your group with a small gap, like oil on a pan avoiding a dry spot.

“They’re not bothering us. I’m sure if we leave them alone, they’ll pass by.”

The rest of the group doesn’t seem to have a better plan. And besides, they’re keeping a respectful distance. They really do seem like they just want to continue on their way.

You sit and watch as they travel by, and take note of their cloaks. Most of them have grass, but there are a few with what looks like cloaks made of discarded trash, and even one or two with what looks like compacted sand.

You notice one trailing behind, looking panicked. It’s cloak has been reduced to just a single leaf for some reason. It scrambles to find new leaves or something for it’s cloak. It approaches your little break area and moves towards your unattended bag. As it does, the others get a little bolder and closer as well.

Mace puts himself between it and the bag.

“Hold on, little guy.” You look around, then find some leaves. “I’ll get you some for a new cloak, okay?”

It just stands there and stares at you, wondering what you’re doing. Mace keeps itself positioned between you and it, but doesn’t look overly tense. It’s just the one small pokemon after all.

“Careful.” Laki warns. “You start pampering one and they’ll all start coming looking for stuff.”

You acknowledge that you heard her, but keep looking around. You gather up some good looking leaves, rejecting ones that are damaged or crinkled. You deliver the armful of them in front of the waiting, curious pokemon. It looks around at them, then up at you, and cautiously starts picking one up. But it stops suddenly as it spots Belladonna. It loses all interest in everything else and rushes towards her, catching the now relaxed Mace off guard. He rushes to catch up to it.

But it’s not Mace that stops the little bug pokemon. It’s the slap of a powerful blue tail and loud growl from Dice. That scares the everloving sauce out of everyone. They all make a startled jump.

Bella peaks around her large blue protector. She looks disgusted that some stranger would ask for some of her leaves. She’s shed a few before, but you guess it’s strange for her to think of somebody wearing them.

A few Burmy gather around to protect their friend after that display from Dice. They still don’t seem like they want a fight or are acting too aggressive, but you’ve been in enough situations like this to know how quickly it can escalate.

You could ask Bella to give some leaves, and she might say no, and you’re not sure how they’d react. You could order her to and you know she’d obey.

“Topius says she doesn’t mind giving a leaf.” Kiera says.

The Burmy shakes it’s head though, pointing to Belladonna. She still looks disgusted, but also ever so slightly flattered. Tropius tries not to look too offended.

>Ask Bella to shed a few leaves
>Order Bella to shed some leaves

“Hey!” You stand beside Dice. “Bella doesn’t want to give her leaves. I gathered some for you over there.”

It looks up at you not with gratitude, but offense. It grumbles, but backs away and gathers up the leaves. It vanishes into the bushes with the others.

You watch for the next few minutes as they stream of Burmy finally trickle away. You relax when they’re gone. You didn’t realize how tense you got. You guess you have a little trouble with confrontation and saying no. You think back on how you could have worded it better or intoned your voice differently. The girls didn’t say anything about it, but you’re sure you must have been at least a little awkward and silly looking.

Keira is assuring Tropius that she’s pretty on the inside, but that just seems to make her feel worse. Sorbet seems to say something that makes it feel better, though.
You look back out into the forest. What was with that Burmy?

Laki, as if reading your mind, puts a hand on your shoulder. “Not everyone sees a nice act as something to be grateful for. They just see an opportunity and situation they can take advantage of.”

“Maybe we just didn’t understand each other well enough.”

“I think he understood just fine.” She tells you. “Don’t worry about it, Soft Hands. Just take it as a lesson. You can’t ‘nice’ away everyone’s problems.”

Your group keeps moving, but you can’t help but have your mind stuck on what happened.

Bella runs alongside you and asks for you to give her a hand up. You lift her up and see how safe she feels in your arms.

You feel proud about standing up for Belladonna. You look down at her happy expression, already having forgotten what happened and looking around at all the trees and beams of sunlight piercing their way through them, and know that you’ll never let anything bad happen to your little Bella.

Sometimes you think that you tell yourself you’ll man up when it’s important, and that you just let lots of small things slide because you’re a patient person. But secretly you worry that that’s just a convenient lie you tell yourself. It’s easy to just react on instinct when you’re attacked, but it’s harder to put your foot down on small things.

The sun is hiding behind gathering stormclouds. You’re relieved to know the hot humidity is going to get a little alleviation, even if that means a wet campsite. You see some lightning way in the distance.

“It’s not that much farther” Keira offers.

“Yeah, but there’s no need to get there in the middle of the night. We can survive a wet campsite.”

Hana looks up at the sky a little worried. You try to walk alongside her, but she subtly steps away. Is she mad? Upset? Scared?

You reach out and grab her hand. She looks at you nervously and pulls away.

“Is everything okay?”

“Yeah. I mean. Don’t worry. Sorry.”

You raise an eyebrow.

“I’m just not a big fan of lightning storms. And I don’t like being around people when they happen.”

“Why w...oh.” You glance at her metal hand.

“Yeah. Heh. Kind of a walking lightning rod.” She gives a funny smile and brushes some hair out of her face.

You hold her hand anyway. “Come on guys, we can make it to town before it hits!”

The group pushes onwards towards the small settlement, and despite the unfamiliar layout of the land, you make good time. It’s just before the sun starts to set.

You’re fascinated as you approach. Keira seems equally so, too. The first impression you get is that it’s a poor area. The buildings have a unique architecture and colorful paint, but they’re in disrepair, with paint chips falling off and scuffs marking the walls. It’s not a dump, but there area few lumps of trash on the main road, and yards with rusted fences, overgrown lawns, and just a general feeling of neglect.

“It’s amazing that such a small group of people can make such a mess.” Laki says.

There’s a Houndoom on a chain. It looks up at you, almost happy, but quickly growls and barks when it sees your pokemon.

There’s a boom of thunder that makes Hana rip her hand away from you and looks around.

“Calm down, spazzbot.” Laki teases. “You’re not worse off than any random Steel type. You’ll be fine.”

Hana gives you an apologetic look for taking her hand away. “Sorry. My brain understands that, but my nerves don’t.”

“Yeah. I get you.” Laki looks around. “Pokemon center’s that way.”

Hana looks anxious to get inside. Keira is still looking around at the different buildings, amazed at the strangeness. Laki just looks bored.

You pat Dice on the head as he looks up at the sky. He seems to really like the rain, so gathering clouds and winds make him happy. He slaps his tail excitedly at the pats. “Thanks for earlier, Dice.”

He gives you blank stare.

“When you protected Bella? Remember?”

He shrugs, lets his neck rest from looking up so long, and bites your shoe. Mace turns away.

You follow after Hana and Laki to the pokemon center. Keira is lagging a little behind, but is coming too.

“Did you want to go explore by yourself?” You ask Keira.

“Umm, they told me not to go out alone in some places on the islands.” She avoids eye contact.

The pokemon center looks almost like an imitation. All the basic elements are there, but the equipment, paint, and just the general look of it is foreign. Tools hand from nails on the walls in a haphazard system you think is more about whatever went up first than any real organization. A crack runs up one wall, but is painted to look like a lightning bolt.

“Huh.” Hana says. “It’s really colourful.”

“Yeah.” Laki looks around briefly before heading to the nurse.

The nurse is reading a magazine, looking bored. She jumps when she sees your group approach. “Oh! Hello! Umm, welcome.” She clears some junk from the desk. “Are your pokemon in need of healing.”

“Yup.” Laki says, seeming a little amused.

“Right! Of course.” She takes a mug off the pokemon healing machine and boots it up. “One moment, please.”

You look around the strange pokemon center some more. They have very cheap looking bunks, separated by gender, for trainers in another room. The doors are flimsy and there’s a missing glass pane in one part. The building is quiet enough that without the thunderstorm finally coming down, you’d probably be able to hear everyone’s slightest movement.

Besides the nurse and your friends, there’s only one other person here. Looks like a girl maybe your age, with bright red hair. She watches you curiously.

Otherwise this, I'm kinda interested in seeing how everyone else is doing. Is there even a form of public education in pokemon world? The rain picks up and really makes itself heard in the building.

You put everyone in their pokeballs to give to the nurse, but hesitate with the one that holds Mace. You resolve to talk to him later, since that seems like a conversation that’s best done in a more private setting. For now though, you’ve got something else you want to do.

You take out an old cookbook of yours and start snipping out pictures and pages. You’ve memorized all of these a long time ago. You grab a pen from the pokemon center desk and use that to make some pretty terrible, but hopefully clear drawings on directions. You’re not sure how well, if at all, Gobble can understand writing.

You look up at the redhead while you’re thinking about how to best draw this one part. She smiles.

“Hi.”

“Hi.” She says back. “Need some pictures?” She rolls the one she has up and offers it.

“Oh. Thanks. But doesn’t that belong to the pokecenter?”

“You’re not from around here.” She says, sitting back and smiling.

“I’m from the mainland.” You confirm. Her face eyes light up a little.

“Me too! Well, my grandparents. I’ve never been there.” She looks at Laki, Hana, and Keira. They’re all distracted with different things right now, and unable to hear your conversation due to the storm. “Why are you guys here? It’s just, nobody visits here unless they know somebody.”

“We just wanted to see it.” You explain. “I was curious.”

She leans back. “A tourist, huh?”

“No no. My family lives here. Well, on Kaitwe.”

She gives you a funny look. “So you’re one of those new wave mainlanders I’ve heard about, huh?”

“I guess?” You wish you knew more about the history here.

“You don’t seem like troublemaker.”

“I umm, thanks?”

“I heard you guys were coming in big numbers and giving all mainlanders a bad name.” She explains bluntly. “Father says we have a good thing, being forgotten on the edge of the islands. Bad attention on you guys reignites bad attention on us.”

“I’m Herb, by the way.” You offer a hand.

“Abigail.” She shakes it enthusiastically. “So watcha doing exactly?” She gestures to the pictures.

“Oh. Right.” You explain your love of cooking, and how you want to make a cookbook for Gobble.

“You’re messing with me, right?”

“No, really. He’s getting pretty good, too.”

She gives another funny look. “You know, when you walked in here I thought it was like some kind of joke. ‘A blonde, a priestess, and a girl with a robot hand walk into a pokemon center.’ I guess the cooking Munchlax is the punchline.”

You’re not sure what she means by that. “Umm, this is a weird question, but what do the people around here like to eat?”

“Food.”

“I mean-”

“I’m messing with you. If you want, you can come to my house and we can show you. Mother and father will probably have a million questions, but that’s the price of a free meal.”

“I don’t know, I’d want to ask the others first. Oh yeah, want to meet them?”

“Uhh, yeah, sure.”

You introduce her to the girls. She bows to Keira and looks very unsure about being this near to a priestess. Keira takes her hand in a big shake and that just makes her even more frazzled. Laki gives a casual greeting, but you can see her sizing Abigail up. Hana gives a more reserved greeting, and also sizes Abigail up, but in a different way.

They chat for a bit. Abigail and Hana talk about movies a little. Keira reaches out to touch her hair, but pulls back when she looks.

“Sorry.” Keira mutters.

She looks surprised to see a Priestess apologize, but says nothing about it. “So, what do you think of our little community?”

“There’s a lot of trash.” Laki says bluntly, looking at an empty chip bag flying around.

“Yeah...” Keira concedes.

“It’s really colorful!” Hana smiles, hoping to diffuse any tension that comment might have made.

Abigail looks to you. It’s only now you notice how shoddy her clothes are. That’s out of character for you, but you guess you were distracted by her hair. Being around so many Loanans made you forget hair could be like that.

A small droplet of water hits the ground near you. You look up and see the leak in the ceiling.

“Well. I haven’t seen much of it yet. But It looks a little rundown compared to other towns I’ve been to.” You aren’t sure how to phrase it, so you’re just being blunt. “Why is that?”

“Just gingers being gingers.” She laughs. “It’s how we do.”

“Well, at least you’re honest about it.” Laki laughs back.

“The garbage ship for the islands crashing on the shore didn’t help.” Abigail becomes offended at Laki taking her joke a little too seriously.

“That was like five years ago.” Laki says. “And it’s funny hearing you complain about someone else making a mess. The great disaster zone from your factories isn’t that far from here.”

“That was over thirty years ago!” She puts her face up close to Laki’s.

“Guys, come on.” Hana tries to talk some peace into the situation. “Nobody here is responsible for any of that.”

“But people are responsible for keeping a place trashy.” Laki says.

“I get the feeling you know a lot about being trashy, huh?”

Laki grabs the smaller girl by the shirt. She grabs Laki back and holds up a fist.

But something strange happens. The nurse is somewhere in the back, but the healing machine dings and your pokeballs come rolling out onto trays, ready for your retrieval. The two girls both end up laughing. Laki lets go, and so does Abigail right after.

“I don’t need a reputation for beating up the gingers.” Laki excuses herself from backing down, but has an odd smile.

“Or getting your ass kicked by one.” Abigail bounces her red eyebrows up and down in a cocky little gesture.

Hana and Keira both look at each other a little confused, but let it go.

“So Herb. Dinner at my place?” Abigail tugs at your hand. “I’ll teach you some things. There isn’t enough for everyone on short notice, though”

Laki’s angry glare slowly returns.

“I know! Why don’t I bring a bunch of ingredients tomorrow and everyone can enjoy a nice meal.” You suggest, satisfied this is an answer than will make everyone happy.

Abigail gives a hesitating smile. “Yeah. Sounds great.”

Laki’s smile looks creepily similar. “Looking forward to it.”

Keira, oblivious to this, puts a hand on both of their shoulders. “Breaking bread together is a traditions everyone shares. Good idea, Herb!”

“Yeah!” Hana tries to cheer up the mood.

Laki looks like she has a thought that improves her mood. “That’s my boyfriend. Always coming up with good ideas.” She grabs you and gives you a deep, tongue filled kiss. Her hands roam over you and she even wraps one leg around you. When she’s done, she smiles back to Abigail.

“I see.” The redhead says. “Well, what do you want to do until then?”

“You’re not going home?”

“There’s a storm out.” She replies. She wanted you to come to her house a minute ago, but you guess she changed her mind about how bad it was outside.

The tension dies down and the girls get to talking.

“Where did you see that movie?” Hana asks Abigail. "I mean, I didn't see a theatre here."

“We get a lot of old discs from Take.” She explains. “Pretty much the only place that likes trading with us mainlanders.”

“Oh yeah.” You perk up. “What part of the mainland are you from?”

She answers. It’s a completely different place than you. Ironically, they’re both much farther away from each other than Loanah. She doesn’t seem to know all that much about it. They practice a lot of old world traditions, but she has no idea what current events or anything are going on there. It seems like they have their own, unique thing going on in this little corner of this little island.

But it’s late. “Well, I’m off to bed. Good night girls.”

“Sleep tight.” Hana gives you a kiss on the cheek.

“Night.” Laki gives you another full kiss. You feel your butt being grabbed, too.

Abigail watches Keira’s next action intently. Keira just smiles and wishes you a good night.

You take out all your freshly healed pokemon and examine the empty men’s dormitory. It’s really just some questionable looking springy beds and a door that’s barely on the hinges, but it’s the first bit of indoor isolation you’ve had in a long time.

You look to Mace. He looks up at you. His equivelent, anyway.

“Penny for your thoughts?”

He considers the question. You don’t think he knows the idiom, but he seems to understand the context. He makes a big gesture in settling into his spot, almost groaning like an old man.

“You feel... old?”

He nods.

“Well, that just means you’re experienced.” You tell him. “It’s not like you can’t learn new tricks, just like the others.”

He considers your words. You decide to press on his youthful activities.

“And you like playing around with Gobble and Dice, right?”

He nods.

What else can you offer? You feel more like you're rambling just to keep having something to say, but maybe he needs that. “‘You’re only as old as you let yourself feel.’ That’s something my grandpa used to say.”

He nods at that too.

“Don’t feel bad about Burmy surprising you. I don’t think he’s ever seen a pokemon like Bella before. You couldn’t have known he’d react like that. Even you are going to see new things in life.”

He looks excited at that. It’s true. Belladonna is something he’s never seen before, and Burmy's reaction and preference for her leaves is new information to him too. Mace cuddles your leg, hoping the other pokemon don’t see. You bend down and give him a nice hug back.

You settle in and find your pokemon slowly grouping around you. But it’s not all completely comfy. Bella looks worried that Laki isn’t there. Mace looks like he’s starting to have thoughts about how much he doesn’t know and how big the world truly is. Gobble is pulling out the cookbook you haven’t entirely finished yet and getting excited for things he can try. Sorbet looks out of place, not sure how close she should be to the others, but not wanting to be alone. Dice is the only calm one. He’s awfully clingy to everyone, though.

Huh. It’s a little strange, being without the girls for once. If you didn’t have your pokemon, you might even be a little spooked.

There’s a funny banging near the window. But that was just something in the wind, right?

Yeah. You’re just keeping yourself up for no reason. You need a good night’s rest in case you need to heal someone tomorrow.

You look to your pokemon, then back at the window. That was probably just your imagination overacting.

There’s another bang. You decide to go investigate. You don’t know why. Everything about you wants to just hide under the blanket with your pile of pokemon.

You creep closer and closer to the window, constantly looking back to your pokemon. They’re all watching you. You’ll be fine. If anything happens, they have your back, right?

Yeah. You’re never alone as a pokemon trainer. You inch forward.

There’s another loud bang at the window. You don’t jump though. You just keep moving forward, then open it.

A gust of wind and rain almost almost knocks you over. You hold on. But something else comes flying at you from the window. A dark, screeching blur. You keep your nerves about you somehow and catch it in midair, holding it as it struggles. You only realize what it is after a few very long seconds of grappling.

“Murkrow?” You let it go.

It caws. It’s soaked, ruffled, and very mixed up. You signal your gathering pokemon to give it space.

“What happened?”

It shakes it’s head, still getting it’s wits about it.

“Wait, where’s your bundle?”

That sets it off. It motions to the outside and the storm, then rushes around the room, flustered.

“It got carried away in the storm?”

It stops and turns to you. That must be it. It looks extremely worried.

“It’s okay. Calm down. We’ll figure it out in the morning.”

Murkrow launches into another panic. It feels you don’t understand.

“I get it. It’s important to you.”

It shakes it’s head and struggles to move outside, you stop it. Well, you apply some pressure, but not enough to keep it in place if it really wants to go out there.

“Murkrow, calm down.” You repeat. “You can’t find what you can’t see, and you can search if you get a broken wing or something out there.

It stops struggling and slowly comes down. It looks out at the window anxiously, but another gust of wind almost knocks it back and it concedes. It can’t fight the storm.

“Hey. It’ll be alright. Won’t it, guys?” You look to your pokemon.

Bella eagerly nods, along with Dice and Gobble. Mace is busy trying to listen for something, but perks up and agrees with whatever everyone else is agreeing to. Sorbet looks around and follows the group as well.

“So what do you say, Murkow? Stay the night?”

It nods. But it flies up to a wooden support beam instead of joining you and the others by the bed.
You settle into to sleep when you hear what you think is footsteps. But with all the pokemon here, surely they’d hear it too, right?

Everyone is either falling asleep or calm. If they heard it, they’re not reacting. Except for Murkrow. It's got twitching ears and can't seem to calm itself too much.

You scream. It’s strange, because feel like you have to force it out. At first, all you have is a scratchy, barely audible noise. It comes though. Loud and clear.

The head zeroes in on you, and begins to approach. You don’t know what you want to do about it, but your body acts without your permission. You slam the door and scramble for a hiding spot. It’s a tall locker just inside the dorm room. You have no idea how loud you were entering it, or where your frying pan got to. You sweat. A lot.

The figure opens the door and enters the room.

Oh man that is a Mr. Mime. There’s no mistaking it. That is a Mr. Pancake Flippin’ Mime!

You see your pokemon all look up at it. Why aren’t they panicking? Are they too scared? Does it have some sort of psychic hypnotic power?

You can’t just leave your pokemon to deal with it without you. You won’t be a coward hiding in a locker. Not today!

You push yourself out and stand tall. Well, okay, you’re shaking and sweating, but you’re still there.

“What do you want?” Your voice is much more hoarse than you expected.

It looks at you funny. Those eyes dig into your soul. You summon every part of your courage to keep it together.

Many footsteps approach. You spare a fraction of a second’s glance away from the creature to see, and it’s the girls. Okay. Stay calm. You have friends coming and it’s just a pokemon.

Just a pokemon.

Just a pokemon.

Yeah. Just a pokemon. Okay. Breath.

“Herb! We heard someone scream.” Hana rushes ahead of the others and to your side.

“Omigosh. That was you, wasn’t it?” Abigail says. “You got scared, huh?”

“I...I got spooked by Mr. Mime.” You guess by how they’re reacting, - with total non-surprise-, that they don’t see anything wrong with this picture. “Why is he here?”

“Mr. Mime works in the back..” She casually explains. “Who do you think handled your pokemon while the nurse stayed out front?”

“I thought it was a machine.” You mutter absently.

“Yeah, cuz this place is so modern and up to date.” She jokes.

Laki wraps an arm around you. “It’s cool, Soft Hands. I’m here. Hana and I will stay in your room with you.”

“Hey now. There are rules.” Abigail says. “Getting scared of a pokemon doesn’t change that.” Her voice is just a little too condescending. You feel a sense of embarrassment wash over you.

“Stuff your rules.” Laki says. “This is still Loanah.”

Murkrow is still up in the rafters, watching.

>You’ll be fine. You have your pokemon.
>Please stay with me.
>Try to laugh it off. You got spooked, sure, but it was just a misunderstanding. Everything’s cool (Requires a roll)

Never really saw Laki as a racist, not sure where this casual racism is coming from honestly for a group of people that have been here....Not even 40-50 years?

Seems pretty strange that the island is so isolated feeling if most of its residents weren't even part of the initial wave. Or if the other islands have trash barges but Tabo doesn't.

dice+1d100 in the options field.

No sense in waiting for something big, it can be fun to influence things in wild, unintended ways. And waiting might just build yourself up for like rolling a 50 or 60 and feeling disappointed.
>>
>>1726467
You'll just end up being the third or fourth roll. Feel free to roll during any rolls.

Type "dice+1d100" into the options field.
>>
>>1726474
nah I am only going to roll once, was never planning to roll at all but just for the sake of it decided to make it once. I never really saw the importance of rolls a well placed argument is far more effective in dictating the outcome, but one roll however maybe there is magic in it maybe the dice gods will smile on it?

>>1726476
I intend to be quick at the appointed time as I have built it up in my head to be an important thing, in the off case it doesn't count I will do a re-do. I really don't get the same thing out of rolling dice that the rest of you do, I'm here for a different purpose.
>>
>>1726476

Herb is really shaping up to be a figure of Loanan legend, isn't he? Harem, aura healing, potential unlocking, shards left and right, communing with fug.

The shards are one per island, right? 3/9?

Do you think we can get the girls to wear harem pants? They look super comfy and therefore hot.

I wanna be able to understand pokemon language so Mace can tell us stories about how he used to babysit a Tyrantrum, and the geological history of Loanah.

>Conversation flows around a smoldering campfire
>Mace weaves tales and stories of yore.
>Polu throws some spices or incense onto the fire. Everyone is wrapped up in a thick blanket of smoke that tantalizes the senses.
>Keira translates the stories. She does a great job of orating. Her facepaint is accentuated by stark shadows cast from the flames. Everyone is enraptured.
>Mace once babysat a Tyranitar, helped mediate in an Incineroar-Emboar clan war, and had dreams of settling down with a nice Graveler once.
>>
>>1733484
I feel like Keira would tell ancient Loanan legends and Mace would keep chiming in with what he remembers actually happening.

>>
>>1733552
Come to think of it, our other pokemon likely have some good stories to tell. Dice could maybe tell about where on the mainland he's from, if that isn't all memories painted bitter by time. Otherwise, there's still the story of what he was doing immediately before we met him.

I do wonder what sort of life Gobble lead before we met him. How long do Munchlax stay with their family before heading out into the world?

Sorbet hasn't really wanted to talk about her mom.

And Bella doesn't really have a period of time when we weren't with her. But we could tell the story of how we got her egg.

I'd love to hear from Nincada what it thinks about the whole "evolving into two pokemon" thing.

Tropius should learn Fly.

I wonder what Tirtouga's memories are like?
>>
>>1733626
>Dice
I get the impression that his attention problems may stem from being abandoned, I'm no poke-psychologist but not dwelling on past events (but unable to not care) seems like a mental defense.
>>
>>1733652
I had assumed that it was the other way around, that he was released because he was more work than his trainer had expected.

He definitely does have abandonment issues though.
>>
>>1731219
>>1731655
I can't stop thinking about what the consequences of link cable technology would be.

I feel like the first wave would be one or two scientists would have existential crisises.

Then once the world at large found out, governments would begin to open up international relationships with themselves. Religious leaders would announce that their denominations were compatible with this all along. Some people will panic and some will celebrate.

The first exchanges of pokemon would have to be done under quarantine until people either were confident that the viral and bacterial populations were similar enough, or vaccinations were distributed.

Assuming only information and pokemon could be transferred across the dimensional barrier, trade would have to be in things like art or processing power, or other non material goods.

Some narcissists would protest for the right to marry their dopplegangers, some countries would accept those marriages.

Obviously the dimension can't be a perfect gender swap, since, say, deaths in childbirth wouldn't work the same way backwards.
