Welcome to the Beast Wars

Character info pastebin (will be filled upon completion of character creation): https://pastebin.com/fqsyvZJw
Twitter: TBD

General Rules:
When: Aiming to post every Wednesday

10 min voting period after each main post. Write-ins votes are welcomed/encouraged. Votes that are non-contradictory and add to the narrative will be considered. Think 'Rule of Cool'

Combat mechanics/skill test will be done using best three of first five rolls of 1d100, unless otherwise specified. Modifiers may come into play depending on the MC's statistics which can improve odds and vice versa as the QM sees fit. The QM will do their best to inform players of when such modifiers will come up during votes. (Example: Aiming at a target at long range with a scattershot weapon will require a higher roll to make a successful hit than say a normal blaster weapon).

Interacting/training with other bots and successful missions can add to your overall abilities. Strong character relationships with your comrades can also benefit the MC as it will improve battle synergy and moral (less likely to want to fall back/retreat). Of course the vice versa can come into play as well. A failed mission may have consequences but result in unforeseen outcomes (Show ex, Tarantulus, Black Arachnia, & Quickstrike were supposed to secure an energon post. The Maximals interfered, resulting in the loss of the post BUT Tarantulus gained a new lair.).

Also keep an eye out at your energon build up levels; too much time in robot mode outside of a structure, such as a base can cause negative impacts on your combat maneuvers/skill test, including potential loss of spark. In the event of loss of spark, pending the results of a vote, a time lapse in the narrative will happen and a new stasis pod will fall. (Roll for new character or with a high relation level, a blank protoform will descend and your allies will reignite your spark)

>>1710050
so this is from the first season when they were using animal skins and not pseudo animal/mech skins?
>>
>>1710060
Correct. This will not follow the first season exactly, allowing for more flexibility

Full current line up
Maximals: Optimus Primal,Dinobot, Rattrap, Rhinox, Cheetor, Tigatron, Airazor

Predacons: Megatron, Scorponok, Tarantulus, Terrorsaur, Waspinator, Black Arachnia, Inferno

“ALERT, STASIS POD BEGINNING PLANET FALL DESCENT.”

Your core consciousness receives this message. Where are you? The last thing you can remember was entering a stasis pod to be uploaded and stored on board a space ship that was set for deep exploration. You would be reactivated to aid its crew upon awakening, but something is not right. You’re primary programming and functions are currently offline. Even your superstructure is fluctuating. What could’ve happened while you’ve been in stasis lock?

Your thoughts are interrupted by another alert from the pod’s computer.

“WARNING, SCANNERS INDICATE PLANET CONTAINS LARGE AMOUNTS OF ENERGON RADIATION. ALTERNATE FORM WILL BE NECESSARY TO PREVENT PERMANENT DAMAGE OR LOSS OF SPARK. POD WILL COMMENCE DNA SCAN SEQUENCE UPON LANDING. “

Slag, that’s not a good sign. While the stasis pod has its own basic landing procedures and start up program, you can influence its processes. What would like to prioritize first?

>Pod, scan for Cybertonian signatures (will land closer to one of the two bases – influence to starting faction)
>Pod, activate distress beacon (Maximal and Predacon scanners will detect your landing and will actively try to reach your pod. Chance for potential reprogramming by Predacons and high chance for combat after activation, regardless of which side.)
>Pod, focus on landing, prioritize safe zones (list of landscapes will be given and voted on. MC can land in remote areas)
>Pod, begin accessing protoform base programming (will influence beast mode selection)
>The pod’s programming knows what to do. I’ll let it handle it for the moment being. (Dice rolls for landing zone, who’s feeling lucky?)
>Write in

QM Reminder: Originally all the stasis pods on board the Axalon were Maximals, but there were a few ‘bad eggs’ in the mix (Rampage, Quickstrike – who chose to side with the Predacons due to his own programming/beast modes). Additionally Questers will influence the overall personality of the Main Character ex. An honorable, team player Predacon or a duplicitous Maximal is possible.

Here's hoping for a Spinosaurus, also Beast Wars was awesome.

I've never seen Beast Wars, but the animal form has to be a big influence on the character, right? Best to have more options there.
>>
>>1710126
It was cool until they started with those hibrids transformation to make the beast closer to a machine. Although Rattrap was a pretty coll one. And of course Dinobots destiny. Humanities SAVIOR!!
>>
>>1710126
Agreed, loved BW

>>1710127
Still a bro, none of that Beast Machines continuity. This is strictly Beast Wars
>>
>>1710139
It depends if a pod suffered some kind of defect or was damaged in some way the animal aspect MIGHT influence the protoform inside. But i don't know if we are going to use the Hybrids transformations like Silver Wolf who was part wolf, part falcon/eagle.
>>
>>1710142
Dinobot best bot.
>>
>>1710139
It will have certain influences. As for options, this will be mostly determinant on base programming and location. (ex. not too many gazelles if you land in the ocean or the arctic)

You’re not sure what this planet might hold instore so it’s probably best to be prepared by remembering what you are good at.

ACKNOWLEDGED, ATTEMPTING ACCESS…PROGRAMING ALGORITMS FOUND

The computer begins bringing up a series of basic functions
>Infantry
>Demolitions
>Scout
>Skirmisher
>Commando
>Defender
>Aerial
>Amphibious (Nautical)

As you contemplate the options, you also try to remember that certain sized robots do better at certain functions. With your superstructure lacking a final form, you’re in a prime positon to optimize your decision. Of course, that’s just what builder bots and programmers suggest, but what do they know?

>I may be small but I can pack a punch (Ideal for Scout, Demolition, and Aerial)

Jets and Air vs Air battles seem cool to me.

If I get out-voted, I'd at least like our Large Commando to have a "jump pack".

Hmm not a bad idea. Jump jets/pack was going to be an upgrade perk/equipment that can be accessed once the quest got into full swing.

That said i just noticed a slight error in my post. Medium size Commando should be Technician/inventer (builds stuff, like Rhinox and Tarantulus)

Hmmm I'll have to make a quick addition to my notes for the next vote

Again sorry for the mistake.

>Commando

You begin to remember now.

Commandos are some of the roughest, toughest bots there are on Cybertron. Whether it’s being dropped in to the middle of a hot zone or surviving behind enemy lines, Commandos get the job done.

You were also a large bot, capable of throwing down with your top of the line combat programming and heavier weaponry. Sure your size makes you a larger target and slower than those smaller nimble bots, but who needs stealth when you’ve got ammo and armor in spades.
But some bots have secondary functions as well. Did you?
>Straight up Commando – I’m a jack of all trades; no need for bells and whistles
>Jump trooper – No better way to get around the battlefield than with a good set of jump jets.
>Terrain Specialist – Knowing your surroundings can be the key to victory.
>Guerilla Combat – Why fight face to face when you can just surprise your enemies?
>Frontline Combat – Ammos not an issue when you have a good melee weapon with you (suggestions)
>Defense Specialist – With my shield, no one threatens my comrade’s safety
>Tech Specialist - For when you need the right tool for the job

You prefer the feeling of scraping your adversaries up close and personal. Nothing beats the feeling of watching the sparks ignite and microchips fly from a powerful swing of your weapon.

Your mind begins to drift when you recall there’s one last thing you need to assess.
>Male programming
>Female programming

“ALERT: ENTERING ATMOSHPERE. BEGIN LANDING SEQUENCE”

That’s right! Lost in your thoughts, you almost spaced on that fact that you’re headed for an unknown planet. You’ll need to decide to you look for your signs of the ship you were with or just focus on safety landing.

You have to admit, you’ve never expected to see such a rich variety of locations. You’re not sure what to expect but you know you’re tough enough to endure whatever it can throw at you.
DETEMINING LOCATION FOR LANDING

Getting down to the planet won’t be too difficult. If things get rough you can always rely on the pods rocket thrusters to assure a safe landing. But you may need them to navigate anomalies of terrain. No need to use them now, unless you wish to increase your speed. It’ll make slowing down for a safe landing trickier of course but you’re one badass bot.

>I need to get out of this slaggin’ cramp pod. Thrusters are go!

Well you havent activated the distress beacon, and while it is a basic function of the start up program, anons had the computer prioritize their functions.

So as you approach, there will be a vote that will determine if either side have active scouts patrolling. or if anyone is already in the area

Computer scans indicate an abundance of native life signs suited to your size in this location, making it ideal.

>Let’s take it nice and easy. Save the thrusters to stick the landing.

One of your old squad mates from your commando unit liked to say said, “Any landing you can walk away from,” but how much time did they spend in the CR Chamber? Huh, wonder what ever happened to that guy…or was it a gal? Hmm. Anyways, you’re no fool. Better to land in one piece.

>Roll results of best three out of five in this case four

The pod flies down, starting to slow down. A small alarm goes off as you feel the pod rock a bit.
“Computer, report.”

MINOR COLLISION WITH LOCAL FLORA. DAMAGE TO STASIS POD MINIMAL.

Damn auto pilots. Give me a real pilot any day, you think to yourself. You hear the sound of the thrusters begin to fire. Must be getting closer now. The pod does a small hop as it lands, basically a safe landing.

“PLANET FALL SUCCESSFUL.”

“Any landing, huh,” smartass computer.

>Roll for detection…99
“SCANNING…NO ENERGY SIGNATURES DETECTED. RESUME START UP PROGRAM?”

All’s quiet outside, if you don’t count the local wildlife. “Let’s see what this planet has to offer besides energon radiation. Begin.”

“ACKNOWLEDGED. SCANNING FOR LIFE FORMS.”

There appears to be an abundance of compatible life forms. Let’s slim it down a bit shall we?

“BEGINNING REPLICATION”

You feel the computer assembling your parts. The rush of the energon surging your frame as you is put into beast mode by the computer to protect your form from the radiation.

“START UP PROGRAM COMPLETE. OPENNING POD DOOR.”

With the stasis pod opening you finally emerge, a massive orange cat with black stripes with large fangs. You climb out and walk around your former pod for a brief moment. This creature appears to have everything you’re looking for: power, ferocity speed. Clearly it must have been an apex predator in its prime. Yes, you’ve chosen a good form for yourself.

But now, what should I call myself? I don’t recall exactly my old name, but that was another world and other life. Here in this new planet I shall be known as…

>Warpath

“Warpath” you speak followed up with a roar. This seems to surprise the local wild life, a pack horned herbivores even takes off, kicking up a cloud of dust. You can’t help but grin at your own awesomeness.

But now that’s out of the way, what are you going to do now? You’re a warrior and there’s nothing to really fight out here. Even the beasts don’t seem much like sport compared to you. You look back at the stasis pod. Perhaps you could salvage some parts from it. Never know when you might need a few extra components. Sure you’re not exactly a technician but it could always come in handy.

As you contemplate what to do, you are distracted by a beeping sound followed by the ships computer.

>Rolls 52, 96, 68
“ALERT: ENERGY SIGNATURE DETECTED”

You look around but don’t see anything approaching. Though there seems to be a black dot in the far off distance sky. There are not many places to hide being grassland.

>Ignore the alert, start taking the stasis pod apart.
>Seems suspicious. Try to play it cool. Just some wild beast sniffing around the pod.
>Get back inside the pod. I’ll ambush this newcomer or challenger.
>Stand atop the stasis pod. I’m no coward. Come at me bro.

>Stand atop the stasis pod. I’m no coward. Come at me bro.

You don’t know who or what this is, but you’re not about to back down. You climb on top of the stasis pod and wait. You can’t help but snarl, your massive canine fangs only looking more impressive.

As the figure gets closer, you can finally see it clearly. It’s a large avian creature. The sharp talons on its legs clearly indicate it’s predator as well. Perhaps a worthy opponent?

The large bird flies closer now and has taken notice of your presence though it seems to slow down keeping to the air. Maybe close enough to tackle in your beast mode. It seems to be looking over the area, flapping its wings in place.

“Hmm, Looks like the pods in one piece,” the bird says. “Though I didn’t expect it to be guarded. Are you one of Tigatron’s wild friends?” Is it mocking you?

You narrow your eyes. It’s doesn’t seem to realize who or what you are.

>Remain where you are; let the bird make the first move.

You stand your grown atop the pod. If this bird means to fight let her make the first move.

The bird still lingering in the air, keeps moving her eyes back and forth between you and the stasis pod.

“Look kitty cat, I don’t have time to play right now.”

More mockery?! It dares think me some lowly kitten?! You roar another challenge towards her.

“Whoa, easy there. Look I’m not going to hurt you.”

As if she could, those talons are sharp but no match for you.

“I’m trying to get to one of my people’s friends inside there.”

Friend? What is it talking about? Should I try talking to this creature? Or is this some kind of trick to throw you off guard?

>Remain where you are and speak to this bird

“Who are you to order me, around bird?”

The bird seems almost taken aback. “Wait a second…you’re…are you the Maximal protoform?”

You silently stare at the falcon. It slowly lowers down, landing on the ground near the stasis pod but not too close.

“I emerged from this pod, yes,” you look down at the bird. “What of it?”

“My name is Airazor. I’m a Maximal like you. Watch.” The bird takes to steps back.

“Airazor, Maximize!” The bird transforms into a female robot. Kind of frail looking, hardly a threat to your power, but you’re no fool. She could just as easily be trying to get the drop on you.

“See? I’m like you. What’s your name? You have one don’t you? Were you damaged?”

You take in all her questions, but remain stoic. Should I trust her? Before you speak up, the pods computer activates again.

>Remain in beast mode and demand to know who the pod is talking about.

You growl as the alert sounds. This could be trap like you anticipated.

“Who is the pod talking about?!”

Airazor raise her hands up defensively. “Whoa, There’s no need to get so aggressive. Allow me to look. I’ll prove that I’m not your enemy.”

The fembot turns her back to you as she takes back to the air. Not a bad view considering but also a careless move. Only a fool would turn their back to an enemy. Maybe she’s telling the truth. She starts scanning the area when she locks on to the source.

“Don’t worry,” She says as she descends back to the ground. “More of our comrades are coming. Just wait a moment.”

Hmm, you’ll be the judge of that.

>Rolled 84

Only a few moments pass to when you see the approaching flying robot. Airazor returns to her beast mode standing close but not too close to you and the pod.

“You know,” She says breaking the silence. “You still haven’t told me who you are.”

She’s not wrong but you remain silent as the sound of jet engines closes in and your attention is brought to a larger bot of black and grey. It seems he’s been in this form for a while as his robot mode seems to be showing signs of energon build up.

“Airazor, are you alright? Is that the new Maximal?”

“Well…” she gives you a questioning glance.

>”You all keep calling me that. Don’t I have a say in this?”

Your response takes grey and black robot by surprise. Airazor seems a bit stunned as well, though her expression seems…hurt?

“Well, allow me to explain.” The robot transforms while landing into a large black primate. He lands on both all fours but quickly rises on two legs. “My name is Optimus Primal, leader of the Maximals and captain of the Axalon. Our ship was shot down and we had to eject all our stasis pods, our crew into orbit.” Optimus expressive face almost softens when he mentions the last part.

This seems to make sense though. You remember being on a ship, being part of a crew and you had just been in space not too long ago. This much seems true.

“Who shot you down? Didn’t you bother to fight?”

Optimus nods, “Of course we did, but the Axalon wasn’t a warship, it’s an exploration vessel. We had initially set out for a deep space journey of discovery.” His tone shifts “But Megatron, the leader of the Predacons, had stolen a ship and an old Cybertronian relic. We were the only one’s close enough to chase after him.”

“Gutsy.”

“Which part?” Airazor questions you.

“Both.”

“You sound like you admire them.” She says with growing concern on her avian features.

“So you just ditched your crew in orbit?”

“What? No!” Optimus gets defensive. “The Predacons damaged our stasis hold; we had to eject them in order to keep them from being damaged or worst destroyed.” He takes a step towards you, as if to almost challenge you. “I’ll do whatever it takes to keep my people safe. Remember that.”

There’s silence for a brief moment. But again Optimus speaks up. “Look, I can’t force you to join us. But know that you ARE a Maximal, one of us. You’re welcome to join us and we’ll show you we can be your allies, friends and family.”

There’s great conviction in his words. Maybe he’s rehearsed this speech? Regardless the idea of having comrades again seems enticing.

Airazor straightens up. “He’s telling the truth. I wasn’t as fortunate as you when I landed. I almost lost my spark. But they saved me. Please, give us a chance.”

>”I won’t join anyone without having first tested their mettle.”

“What,” Airazor does a quick hop backwards. “You, you can’t be serious.”

You jump off the stasis pod, onto the ground, giving you and Optimus a bit of space. “Very. What do you say Optimus, I challenge you to prove yourself worthy of my loyalty.”

“This isn’t necessary.” Optimus says, but laments “But if it’s the only way…”

“It is.”

“Very well. I accept your challenge.”

Airazor transforms “No, Optimus. You still have energon build up.” She turns to you, “I don’t want this but let me fight in his stead.”

You roar causing both Optimus and Airazor to flinch as you transform into your robot warrior mode, as you stand tall. “Negative. He’s your leader, so he’s my opponent. Besides, you don’t exactly look like much of a challenge to face me.” You reach behind you and draw forth your Halberd, made from your beast mode’s spine. Its sharp, serrated boney blade only adds to your fearsome display.

“I may not look it but I stand my ground to anyone looking to hurt my friends.” Airazor taking great offense to your comment, she appears to have a few small wrist mounted launchers. She’s got guts, you’ll give her that, but she doesn’t know who she’s messing with.

“Stand down Airazor. I can handle this. Optimus Primal, Maximize.” The ape roars as he returns back to his robot mode. You see his form slightly flicker from the energon. Maybe it’s too soon to fight him. You don’t want to win on a technicality. That’s not how you do things. But Optimus almost appears to catch what you’re thinking.

“Computer, transfer energy weapons array to energon dampeners. Maximum tolerance.” He draws to curved swords from over his shoulders. “Airazor, keep an eye out for any possible Predacons. I won’t have them interfering or trying to get the drop on us.”

“But…”

“That’s an order.” Optimus states.

Airazor, simply nods, but continues to give you a cautious lingering look. “As you wish, Optimus.”

“I trust you’re finally ready?” You say. You make a fist as your beast mode fangs spring out, revealing a spiked power fist.

Optimus does a quick movement with his swords. “Ready and Primed.”

Halberd.

Optimus is a thinker, the longer we wait the more strategies he can make up against us. Lead in first, take control of the battle and put him on the back foot.

Halberd, try to knock him off-balance. I'd like to aim more for a contest of skill and wit and less brute strength that way we avoid unessecary injury.

You’re gonna set the pace for this fight and with a strong thrust of your Halberd, you’ve got Maximal dead in your sights.

But Optimus swings around his blade knocking away your halberd’s thrust. He spins around past your assault and swinging his sword, and narrowly misses you from behind. You stumble a little but wth a quick pivot you regain your footing and whip around. How long were you in that pod?.

“You’re going to have to do better than that.” Optimus smiles “Fortunately, the Maximals we have an excellent close combat expert who might be able to help refine your attacks.”

You growl at Primals goading. It bothers you to remember that he’s also not fighting at hundred percent. Maybe he’s a fiercer warrior than you gave him credit for. You’ll show him how tough you are.

Keep your distance and using the versatility of your weapon, you manage to get a clean strike on the Maximal Leader before he can parry your attack a second time. Airazor gives a concern look; she doesn’t seem confident that you’re holding back. But Optimus continues the fight.

>Optimus attack 65

Optimus regains his ground and attempts to deflect your Halberd away again to close the gap, but you’re ready for him this time. You pull the Halberd back, causing him to swing at air, only to have to use his attacking swing to defend to prevent leaving himself open to another attack.

“Not bad,” Optimus says with a nod. He doesn’t seem to be lying. You think he’s genuinely impressed. “You show great potential. Now let’s see how you handle the unexpected.” He starts spinning his blades around, and seems to be holding his place.

He’s up to something, but you’re not quite sure what.

>Go for your own surprise move. Switch to beast mode and lunge attack him.

Optimus stops spinning his blades and you hear the sound of jets firing. He’s going to try an jumping sword strike. Crafty, but you know how to do that too. Optimus isn’t the only one who can improvise.

“Beast mode.” You transform back into your Saber-tooth Tiger form and spring a surprise attack of your own.

>Warpath attack 92

“Aaaaaah.” Optimus is completely taken by surprise by your unexpected tactic and you knock him clean out of the air. You have enough momentum going you make it a full pounce and land on top of him. With one attack he drops one of his swords and it slides away.

“No! Optimus!” Airazor looks as if she’s about to take a step closer, moving her arm upwards to take aim with her wrist launchers, but stops herself. As much as it pains her to sit on the side line, she won’t interfere unless you take the fight into more dangerous territory.

You look down at the Gorilla, you roar in his face with a primal furry.

You try to keep him pinned as he fidgets under your weight. “Surrender, Optimus. I’ve won our challenge.”

“Well…that’s…just…PRIME!” Optimus lets out a loud grunt, as he lets go of his other sword and powers out of your pin. He rolls away as you land on your feet a few meters away.

You notice Optimus starts flinching; energon build up. “Beast mode.” With that he returns to his gorilla form. He’s breathing a bit heavier. You are too, but are keeping it well hidden.

“So you want to continue then?” you ask as you stare him down.

He rubs his shoulder, leaning against your stasis pod, “Well I’ll say this. You definitely one of the toughest fighters I’ve met.” He looks at you, considering. “I’ll concede this fight to you.”

You smile. Yes! Victory! Even if it was just a glorified sparring match, you proved how powerful you are.
“So I take it you won’t be joining us?” Airazor says dejectedly. She too has returned to her beast mode.

Optimus stands up straight again. “Well, let the record show that you have a place with us if you chose.”

He’s not wrong, the terms of your fight was to test the Maximals mettle and they’ve shown themselves to not only be strong capable fighters but honorable to their terms.

“But if you chose to go it alone, you’re bound to run into the Megatron and his Predicons.” Optimus tone changes, “and he doesn’t take no for an answer.”

Should you need my aid I may decide to render it, but for now my path is my own and no one else's.

Fair thee well Optimus Primal, may we meet in battle once more.

Seconding something like this. I don't mind helping out the Maximals, I just don't want to be a full time Maximal and following the plot of the show.
>>
>>1712490
Ide modify this to:
If he wishes to challange us again sometime, we would welcome the same conditions.
>>
Come on guys, our pro tag won only because the Big O has pre-existing damage/energon-buildup.

Honor, remember?

>> I'll join you, but I'll stay on my own for now, the tactical advantage of surprise is just too good to pass up, should you all need my help.
>>
>>1712723
Getting too much on the honor thing though, would just make us Cat Dinobot.

Respect Optimus for not stepping down even though he was damaged, respect him for the fight he put up even though he was damaged.
But in the end, we won so terms are ours to set.
>>

>>You’ve show me your worth, I’ll join you. (Become a Maximal)

Support. We don't need to be full time Maximals. Let's explore the world a little.

Plus this'll make it easier to be buddies with Waspinator if he knows we're not technically a Maximal.
>>
I totally think we could go for being independant but leaning Maximal. It could be Hard Mode for the quest, but I think fits what we've generally been going for so far.

Not bad for a first time QM session!

Supporting this. Give them whatever passes for a phone number to those two to stay in contact in case they need a tough as fuck warrior in times of danger.

Also, ask them more about the predacons, they sound like an honorless bunch of jerks if they don't respect the freedom and independence of their soldiers.

Hey everyone, just popping in real quick, before updating the pastebin.

From the looks of it, Warpath will be an independant opperator but with some allegence to the Maximals.

While there's some talk of playing for both teams, this is doable but as someone said, 'Hard Mode'.
I'll be honest, was really hoping against the neutral path, but hey thats questing. Lets see where this takes us.

I will mention that successfully doing mercenary work for both sides will mostly depend on how well you are at discretion. Openly aiding another faction on the battle field for example will be seen as a betrayal to the otherside. Seeing as Warpath likes to do things up close and personal this may be difficult. That said, there may be oppertunites of doing some 'backroom' dealings with more duplicitous individuals.

Next thing i noticed was the decision on whether or not to be honorable. I am trying to avoid portraying him as Cat Dinobot, but warpath does still have his old Maximal programming so it'll be up to the players how that works out.

Lastly for the moment being is character stats. I was originally planning on doing this at the end of the thread (assuming a faction had been chosen) but having things go longer than anticiapted I was a bit too tired to work on it. The stat block is based on the old beast wars toyline (see the pic for an idea of this.)

So based on the results of this thread, I determined the following stats (1 is the lowest while 10 is the max)

Strength: 7
Intelligence: 4
Speed: 7
Endurance: 6
Rank ???
Courage: 9
Firepower: 2
Skill: 6

These are all subject to change (see OP) or if any feel we some of these stats should be reallocated, feel free to speak up.

If anyone has any questions or comments I'll keep an eye on this thread.
>>
>>1713468
Alternatively, they sound like a very Darwinian culture we would enjoy being a part of. Survival of the fittest
>>
>>1712469
>>I’ll stay on my own for now. (Remain independent)
Lone wolf time! Except, without all of the "dying due to the strength of wolves being their pack hunting" problem.
>>
>>1713504
I'm not a big fan of working with the predacons, especially with how we're playing him. Like I said, I just don't want to be tied down following the show plot by being a permanent Maximal.
I'm totally for the Maximals calling us for help sometimes and then us doing our own thing otherwise.

Like a path that intersects with the show plot sometimes, but otherwise is it's own story.
>>
>>1713691
Well even if you were to be Maximal or Predicon, we're not following the shows plot verbatim. Its kinda loosy goosy, if that allays your concerns about being one faction or the other.
Like even though both sides have their full cast from the show, anything Vok related is still a ways out. So no big boom creating Transmetals/Fuzors for sometime.

Of course as it stands most folks want to be independent. So that's how it'll be until the vote says otherwise.
>>
>>1713720

What counts as 'Maximal' vs 'Independent'?
Tigertron was a Maximal, but did his own thing most of the time. It sounds like that's our path, only with less mourning and serenity, and more rip-and-tear. And we've determined we're not actually going to defect and buddy up with the Predacons either way, so we might as well take that comms link even if we go loner for now; we still have our programming and we haven't defected so we're really still a maximal, even if we're not currently adhering to the theoretical maximal leadership structure on the planet. I mean, Tarantulus was actively and openly working against Megatron at one point yet he was still Predacon.
>>
>>1713504
>>1713817

Personally my hope is we just go around the place traveling ronin style.

See the sights, take in the views, take anything shiny we like for ourselves, pull a tarantulus and build a lair, ect. ect.

>>1713691

List of Predacons worth working with

1. Waspinator

2. See 1.

Honestly the rest of them are backstabbing bitches at their best or scycophantic/brain damaged idiots loyal only to megatron.

At least Waspinator had the balls to quit /and/ tell two of the craziest bastards still alive to kiss his stripy yellow ass.

Yea remembered you kept swinging for that and I put Spinosaurus but sabertooth tiger proved to be a tad more popular.

>>1713817
This is true. I was considering handling it more like Tigatron. Who knows, debating on how certain rolls go, you may run into him soon. Just have to wait and see. Partially Airazor is similar in that she's out scouting often but she returns to base more frequently. It was a toss up on who you were gonna encounter first.

>>1713955
Well to be fair, it took the end of the series for Waspinator to wise up and quit.
>>
>>1713817
Also to better answer the difference between "Maximal" and "Independent"
1. Consistent access to the Axalon, Private living quarters, better access to the CR chamber in the event of major damage, access to tech and upgrades for future engagements.

2. More interactions with allies, going on missions, reconnaissance and such. What I always loved about Beast Wars was the dynamic the characters had with each other since it was a smaller cast than say G1 so you could build more on those relationships/battle synergy/moral (If you and a ally have a strong friendship, and vote to perform a complex combat maneuver, I would dismiss any 'critical fail' rolls)

a few other things but i dont have my notes handy atm
>>

Perhaps when we run across Waspinator alone in our travels, we might be able to nudge him in the "FUCK YOU I DO WHAT I WANT" way of living a little earlier than canon.

I honestly think Waspinator was the hidden gem of a character for the whole series. He deserved far better than he got.

His spark is also old as balls if I recall correctly. Like G1 old. The reason he's so scatterbrained is that he's waaaay overdue for a defrag of the ol' harddrive, if you know what I'm saying.
>>
Okay here's what we do. We go independent, and start stealing bots from both sides and make our own side.
>>
>>1714888
What we do, is go independent, then find our way into Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo.

Um well voting usually last 10 mins (i usually add a bit of time depending on the hour and when the first vote comes in) But technically yea its been over. I probably should have made the official declaration but it was 5 am for me and the quest had gone on for almost 10 hrs. I'll strive to do better in the future.

But like i said, its a quest so things can definitely change. There is some leaning towards maximal but with more of that Tigatron feel.

Welcome to the Beast Wars Pt 2

Last time on Beast Wars...
Your stasis pod has landed on an unknown energon rich planet without incident. Emerging from the pod was Warpath, the Front line Commando Saber-tooth Tiger. After activation, you encountered Maxiamls Airazor and Optimus Primal whom tried to persuade you to join their ranks. After a quick combat trial, which you were victorious, you've chosen to maintain your independence, but their tenacity has left an impact.

Hows everyone's evening/night

>I’ll stay on my own for now (Remain independent)

You contemplate your options, but you feel that you’d rather go it alone for now.

“I’d prefer to blaze my own trail for now,” You say assuredly. “But tell me more about this Megatron.”

Airazor gives a look to Optimus, but he raises his hand.

“Megatron is the leader of the Predacons. He’s dangerous individual attempting to secure a massive amount of energon, restart the Great War and won’t stop until he’s achieved galactic conquest.”

Sounds like a tough customer. Wonder how he’d fair against your claws.

“Anything else I should know about?”

“We have a few of our scouts out here, not unlike you. You’ve already met our air scout.” Optimus gestures towards Airazor. “Tigatron is also out in the northern snow lands but he’s known to come down these parts.”

The falcon looks back to you. “What should we call you then? So our other Maximal allies can make themselves known to you.” Her expression shows her cautiousness. “So you don’t perceive them as an enemy.”

“Warpath.”

“Subtle.”

You can’t help but smirk. She’s doesn’t seem as naïve or self-assured as she did when she just brashly approached you. Can’t tell if that’s a good thing or bad.

>”So what about the pod?”
>”Where are these Predacons?” Maybe I should investigate these Predacons. See them for myself.
>”Where’s this base of yours? Should I wish to contact you?”

>”Where’s this base of yours? Should I wish to contact you?”

Airazor seemed surprise by your question, “West by southwest from this position, about three mega-cycles from here by land.” [QM: 1 mega-cycle is equivalent to one hour]

Optimus Primal nods, “You’re comlink won’t reach the base for at least a ten kilk (kilk -= 1 kilometer).” He rubs his chin “We could supply you with an Extended Range Comlink. Has a vastly superior range though you’ll have to wear it. Meaning it’s exposed so you’ll have to be careful with it.”

>”So what about the pod?”

“Can any of its equipment be salvaged for use?”

Optimus Primal replies. “Well, we usually recover the pods and bring them back to the Axalon, for storage. We may need them again when we finally leave the planet.”

“If we can leave the planet.” Airazor chimes. “It wasn’t very successful attempt last time, according to Rhinox.”

“Well if you can’t leave, what good does it do you?”

“It can’t be just left out here for the Predacons to recover either.” The gorilla gestures towards the pod. “Plus you’d need a syncro-lazer to proper salvage parts.”

Airazor chimes in, “Would you help us move it back to the base? It’ll save you the time of having to wait for the Comlink to be delivered.”

>Two birds with one stone; I’ll go with you

Airazor just gives you a silent look for a moment. She just shakes her head and looks at Optimus “It’s like having another Rattrap.” Optimus just chuckles.

Well at least the bird’s got thick feathers. “So how are we gonna do this?”

Optimus moves back over to the pod. “Well let’s see if it’s still has some fuel in its thrusters, it’ll make it significantly easier.”

>Let’s take it nice and easy. Save the thrusters to stick the landing.
You didn’t use the thrusters for anything other than to ease your landing so it turns out there is.

The pod starts to hover slightly above the ground.

“Alright, looks like everything is in order.” Optimus says. “I’ll watch the rear. Warpath, take the front. Airazor will lead from the skies. Keep your eyes and ears open for any sign of Predacons. While we may have discovered you and the pod first, there’s still a chance that one of their scouts could’ve seen us heading this way.”

“Right, Optimus.” Airazor starts to take to the air, “I’ll keep enough of a lead so you can follow me easier in your beast mode. Don’t get lost now.” She says the last part with a bit more of that joking tone you remember from earlier.

Heh, wouldn’t mind a few of these bad bots just to size them up. See what all the fuss is about. That reminds you. “So you told me plenty about this Megatron character, what about his crew?”

“We’ll it’s a bit of a ways to go, a bit of informative chatter can’t hurt. Just keep your eyes peeled.”

You guys get your journey underway. Optimus gives you a quick rundown of the Predicons line up:

>MEGATRON – Large Purple Tyrannosaurus Rex. Dangerous, cunning, says yes a lot.
>SCORPINONK – Grey Scorpion. Second in command; massive brown noser. Bit of a techie but with a reputation of incompetence. Usually uses his cyberbees for various tasks, primarily scouting.
>TARANTULUS – Green and Purple Spider; less of a tech and more of a mad scientist. Emphasis on the mad part. A schemer. Watch out for his webs and cybervenom.
>TERRORSAUR – Red Pterodactyl. One of Megatron’s main flyers, but his loyalties are questionable. Seems to be always looking for an opening to over throw Megatron.
>WASPINATOR – Green and Yellow Wasp. More loyal than Terrorsaur but a few bullets short of a full clip. Despite his horrible luck, he’s committed to whatever mission Megatron gives him.
>BLACKARACHNIA – Gold and Black Spider. Her stasis pod was snagged by the Predacons and she was reprogrammed to their side. Seems to have a lot in common with Tarantulus.
>INFERNO- Red Fire Ant. Another reprogrammed Maximal. Fanatically devoted to Megatron. Enjoys burning things.

Optimus and Airazor were more descriptive but you picked up on the important things.

And i just realized that i've made a small mistake.

Maximal base was in the east; Predicons were in the west if i recall. Usually maximals had the sunrise. i think. (of course it could be the usual cartoon 'convenience' for where the sunrise/sunset is.)

Either way i'll try to be more accurate in the future.

“Whats the terrain like? In the more immediate areas.” You recall during your landing there was a vastly diversity of biomes on the planet. But it wouldn’t hurt to know that outlying areas when you go explore.

Optimus continues answering your questions, mostly since Airazor is ahead.
“To the east are fairly open hills, mostly rock, with a few water formations. That’s the fastest way to the Maximal base. There’s actually quite abit of flat rocky land between here and the Predacon base to the far west. Mostly it’s an inhospitable wasteland, some dormant volcanic land with a desert region. Though to the north is much greener, such as grass land and forest. The far north is where the artic lands. To the south there’s larger jungle mixed in with swampland. Beyond there is the coast with a lovely large ocean. Just watch the cliffs. Long way down.”

“There’s an abundance of wildlife on this planet, too. Too many species to account for, though I will say yours is quite unique.”

“The DNA scanner found it in the ground.”

Optimus nods. “Sounds like one of the extinct species Dinobot mentioned in the past. You won’t be able to hid easily amongst the wild life here, but something tells me that’s not your style.”

You smile with a nod. “Damn right. That reminds me who else are in your group.”

Optimus seems to perk up with a bit of pride. “I’d be more than happy to give you a brief run down, but I encourage you to speak with them while you’re at the base.”

>OPTIMUS PRIMAL – Black Gorilla. Leader of the Maximals. Despite his claims of being just an explorer, he’s a capable combatant.
>RHINOX – Tan Rhinoceros. Defense specialist and inventor for the Maximals. While he sounds like an imposing figure, apparently prefers pacifism. Seems like a waste of warrior prowess. Chain guns sound cool though.
>RATTRAP – Grey Rat. Spy and demolitions. Small dry and sarcastic. Airazor seems to see some of him in me.
>CHEETOR – Yellow Cheetah. Youngster that Optimus seems quite fond of. Sounds a bit head strong, but points for bravery and willingness to fight.
>DINOBOT – Brown Velociraptor. Former Predacon who switched sides. Not sure what that says about him or his former comrades. Apparently a fellow warrior. Color me intrigued.
>TIGATRON - White Tiger. Fellow stasis pod lander; even emerged before the Maximals or Predacons reach him. Long range scout to the north. Seems to have a similar form but seems more at home with nature than with the Maximals. Sounds like we’d get along, well except for his more peaceful disposition.
>AIRAZOR – Black and Tan Falcon. Aerial Scout. Probably run into her out here more often as well.

What else would you like to do? It seems pretty quiet. Not too many hiding spots, but if someone was lying in wait, could be walking into an ambush.

Scorponok (Dodgex3)
Optimus (Attack)
Airazor (attack, dodge)
?????? x (attack)

I would thinks so except that your fangs are part of a power fist on one of your hands.

Your main robot weapon is the Halberd with a serrated blade.

Do we have any ranged weapons on us at all? Like bitchin' eye lasers?
Or did we end up going melee only hardass style?
>>
>>1718434
It actually never came up but most folks seemed down for the melee commando style.

I initially had meant to add it in, but just forgot. Depending on how combat goes, you can get a ranged weapon at one of the two armory's

>Remain in beast mode and charge towards the rock formation.
At last! True battle. Slaggin' sucker puncher too. Lets see how he likes it when his enemy is facing him tooth and claw.

“Be careful Warpath, we don’t know how many there are.” Optimus calls out “Computer, reactivate combat array.”

You barely acknowledge Optimus, you don’t answer to him. Still, the enemy of my enemy.

“So another furball joins the Maximal ranks, huh? Don’t worry; you’ll be scrap soon enough!”

He prepares to fire off two more of his missiles towards you when he sees you coming.

>Warpath attack roll 97 CRIT
>Scorponok dodge 94

Scorponok underestimates the speed you are charging with and WHAM your claws slash across his torso, nearly cutting clean through.
"Gaaaah"

“Airazor are you alright?” Optimus calls out as he takes aim at Scorponok to assist you with his forearm mounted double barreled shotgun.

>Optimus attack roll 44
>Scorponok dodge roll 90 (Null due to Warpath's crit)
Scorponok is knocked for a loop from your attack and when he hears the sound of Optimus weapon he attempts to jump away but only gets sent flying back airborne.

“Airazor, Maximize!” Airazor transforms and dives lower towards the ground taking a few pot shots at Scorponok,

>Airazor attack 64
>Scorponok dodge 43 (nulled)

Airazors wrist mounted streak missiles hit their mark repeatedly as the last you see of the grey scorpion is sent tumbling backwards over another hill. All you can hear are his pathetic cry's and grunts from repeatedly hitting the ground behind him, apparently not a smooth fall.

“I’ve been better. May need sometime in the CR chamber after this though.”

>Attack roll 63
>Airazor dodge roll 19

“You’ll need more than that when we’re through with you. Tarantulus, Terrorize!” You barely hear the spider transforming from under a large rock that sides out of the way. He fires a strange blue looking energy projectile at her.

It hits its mark as Airazor cries out in pain, her body convulsing as she falls to the ground.

"Airazor Noooo!" Optimus cries out. "Warpath help her!"

>Attempt to transform, run and catch her (high roll needed to her lower elevation)
>Ignore Optimus and attack the Spider
>Pursue after Scorponok, make sure he's scrap
>Write in

Actually warpath is currently closer. Optimus was still back by the stasis pod when he transformed (he was on rear guard) and will have to make a full throttle jet burn to reach Airazor

Hey glad your enjoying the quest

The reasoning behind things was that he's supposed to be one of the larger bots, say like dinobot or inferno so some liberties are being taken. Figure he's a bulkier version of Tigatron with more forearm strength. Pic to give a bit of idea. Basically a supersize version of his species. If this was more in line with gen 1, warpath would be a tank size or like Ironhide if that makes a bit more sense
>>
>>1720764
It does I was expecting him to be the size of a mammoth.
>>
>>1721585
Oh ok. I'll do better to be more clear in the future

Like Rampage but still shorter than a combiner like Magnaboss
>>
>>1721720
Isn't Rampage fairly normal size? He was smaller then Megatron, right?
>>
>>1721778
He was actually the roughly the same size of Megatron if i recall. They made a big deal with whole Protoform X thing ('a big stasis pod....a big soldier, yeeeess) and most of the 'camera' angles are usually with Megatron elevated above him
