Now that I’ve got a little bit of momentum going I’m trying to keep it up, so hopefully you all enjoy this thread.

>Fate Point: 2
>Money: $565
>Equipment Carried: Tier 2 Assault Rifle. Tier 2 Armor. Tier 1 Pistol. Tier 2 Rucksack. Tier 1 Med-kit. Tier 2 Med-kit. Tier 1 Toolkit

Your name is William and you are a mercenary, a rather successful one at that. At least you consider yourself such. You aren’t dead, you’re not starving, your gun works, you have plenty of ammo, armor and most of all you have coworkers you can count on. One of them, your Boss Morrigan, is probably the most helpful. She explains everything for you, especially all the nice things like how you aren’t going to get beaten or shot or how she actually wants to help you. You! She wants to help you! Such a thought had never entered your mind before.

Currently you are in bed with Morrigan, at least you think you are. It’s the last thing you remember. You’re drifting in and out of sleep at the moment, on the edge of waking up but still dreaming a little bit.

Your dreams are like normal, a mix of light and dark things that alternately call you towards them and then push you away. On the other edge of your consciousness you hear words being spoken, some of them from the nearby source of warmth that you wrap your arms around.

What do you focus on?

You decided to listen in on the conversation that is going on just outside your range of consciousness. You push yourself a little bit, enough so that you’re awake but not so much that you immediately get up. An unheard of skill for you even just a few months ago but Morrigan and the rest of MMS have been teaching you at a record rate. As you stir slightly the words start to reach your ear.

"How can you even say that?!” comes a harsh whisper from beside you, what you can clearly tell is Morrigan’s voice.

"Well you kicked everyone else out and then I heard the shower running so when I didn't smell anything I thought that you…” comes Nem’s voice.

“It’s Will!” comes Morrigan’s voice again, clearly trying to be quiet but not actually succeeding all that much as she sounds flustered.

“So?” says Nem, “I mean he’s not my type but you’ve been making moon eyes over him since…”

“I’m worried about him!” grunts Morrigan, shifting slightly in your arms.

“You worry about everyone,” quips back Nem, “You don’t freak out and threaten to murder Koko on my behalf.”

“You can take care of yourself,” says Morrigan.

“So can Will, as much as you don’t like to admit it,” says Nem, “Kid’s a stone cold killer when it comes down to it.”

“We all are,” says Morrigan, “That’s our job.”

“Not as much as him,” says Nem, “Will would kill anyone you told him to no questions asked.”

Well… you probably would at least. Morrigan only tells you to kill people who need it.

“Yeah…” says Morrigan, “But what does that have to do with what we were talking about before?”

“Little Willikun’s~ only gets lost in social situations Morri,” says Nem, “So you always run to his rescue.”

“I’d do the same for any of you,” says Morrigan, “I don’t see…”

“I also read your diary,” says Nem with a tone where you can almost see her roll her eyes, “I don’t think I’ve ever read about someone who could get laid so easily if they wanted to talking about…”

There are no words spoken as you feel Morrigan shift, grunt and then the loud *fwump* of a pillow hitting someone in the face.

Of course this wakes you up some more but you’re cuddled up with Morrigan still and as you’ve discovered, girls feel nice. Morrigan may be weirdly convinced she’s not like other girls for some reason but you can’t tell a difference.

>Maybe you should get up now.

Of course. Girls are soft, warm and they smell nice too.

Will doesn't quite get anything beyond that but he does like girls. Especially since they usually try to keep him safe too.
>>
>>1690042
>Will likes girls confirmed.
What a fag
>>
>>1690042
Considering that most of the adult males he interected with on his life either tried to or manage to shoot him or beat him until he was between life and death. I can't blame him for liking girls.

The only positive male interactions Will has had are with Doc, Doc, Jonah, the Sargent, and all those male mercs he drank under the table that one time.

>>1689942

You decide since you’re still hurt, a little tired and at the moment very warm that you don’t want to wake up right now. Instead you wiggle a little bit, causing Morrigan to freeze as your head presses up against her shoulder. You think it’s her shoulder at least, it’s not squishy.

As you settle in you feel Morrigan’s hand go through your hair, scratching at your scalp. You let out a little happy sound as you start to drift off from the pleasant feeling.

“You have it soooo~ bad Morri,” says Nem once more.

“Shut up,” says Morrigan, her voice not carrying any venom in it. “He’s… just not like anyone else.”

“You mean he doesn’t see you as a piece of meat, which is your hangup,” says Nem.

“Well we can’t all be like you Nem,” says Morrigan in return, “Just because you get laid every week…”

“Pfft,” Nem snorts.

“Or more doesn’t mean the rest of us need to,” finishes Morrigan.

“It’d do you all some good,” says Nem, “You and Mary especially. Cath and Bell maybe not so much but it wouldn’t hurt.”

“We’ve all got our reasons Nem,” says Morrigan as she continues to scratch your head.

“Yours is the worst, just saying,” says Nem, “Cause one day he’s going to realize he’s a guy and then you’ll lose him.”

“Doubt it,” says Morrigan, “We’d notice if he started looking.”

“Please I’m sure if you got naked…” Nem stopped and you could feel Morrigan get warmer. “No! You said you didn’t!”

Morrigan mumbles something you don’t quite catch.

“What do you mean platonic? You were naked together!”

Silence from Morrigan.

“Oh come on! At least tell me if Cath was lying or not!”

You feel Morrigan turn towards you, curling up around you as she moves her head onto your pillow. You start to drift off even more despite Nem talking.

“Morrigan! Morrigan I know you aren’t asleep. If you don’t tell me I’ll…”

You mumble a bit as you start to finally slip under. The last thing you hear is Morrigan saying something about a horse.

You wake up again sometime later, still nuzzled up to Morrigan. Feeling rested this time you blink your eyes open to find Morrigan looking down at you with a thoughtful expression on her face.

She smiles when she notices you looking up at her.

OlI guess the important thing to ask is what is getting laid. Of course everyone gets laid you need to sleep layed be it on the floor or in a bed. Does that mean the others don't lay when they sleep? It must be very unconfurtable

“Nem was loud,” you say, “But I slept well.”

Morrigan’s face goes red as you say that but quickly calms down.

“Well I suppose it was a bit much for you not to hear that,” she says, “We were a bit loud. How much did you hear?”

You pause, thinking about what you heard.

“Something about the shower and laying down until you started talking about a horse,” you tell her.

Morrigan goes red again and shakes her head.

“I am going to kill Nem…” she mutters.

You know she’s not actually going to kill Nem, they’re best friends. It’s a… “figure of speech”, which Mary told you about a while ago.

“Still… well I suppose it doesn’t matter,” she says, “Not like you understood much of that?”

You shake your head no and Morrigan laughs.

“Didn’t think so. Lets get up and get some breakfast.”

You nod, untangling yourself from Morrigan as you both get up and change. It doesn’t take much, seeing as how you’re already partially dressed. Once dressed Morrigan and you head down the elevator to get some breakfast together.

You don’t see anybody as you gather up your food but sometimes you don’t need to eat with everyone as long as you all meet up later.

Most of the way through your meal you look up to see Koko and Valmet coming up to your table. Koko has a serious face on, as much as she ever does. Morrigan looks up and sets her fork down but doesn’t say anything and doesn’t seem to get angry.

Koko nods as she sits down across from you, Valmet standing and scanning the surrounding area like a good bodyguard.

“When you two are done I’d like to speak with you,” Koko says, “It involves last night.”

Morrigan nods, looking over at you.

You nod back, finishing up your food before standing to follow Koko.

You don’t know where she’s leading you as you go through the maze of back hallways, small staircases and more doors than you can really remember. All you know is that you’re somewhere deep inside the hotel basement when you come upon a window. Through the window you see Sophia, looking a little bruised but still somehow smiling as she’s tied up to a chair, singing to herself.

“She won’t talk,” says Koko, “Not to any of my people. She says she’ll talk to Will.”

Koko looks over at you, frowning. “We could torture her but then I might not get the information I need. At least not all of it.”

Morrigan looks… a bit disturbed but she nods.

“You want Will to go in there?” she asks.

“No,” says Koko, “But I need him to.”

Morrigan raises an eyebrow at the statement.

“He might hear some things that I frankly don’t want anyone to hear. Neither of you but I’m sure you don’t trust me enough to leave him alone in there.”

“Not really no,” says Morrigan.

“So I’m going to make you an offer,” says Koko, “I’ll pay your entire squad another thousand dollars on top of what I already am, along with some top of the line gear for you to stick around until I’m done and keep your mouths shut afterwards. I can honestly say I trust you all enough for that.. Or you can walk right now and I’ll get my information the other way. It just might be too late then.”

Morrigan looks at you, her face drawn tight. That’s a very big offer… but then again what Koko is talking about sounds very important too.

>>1691303

I certainly hope so. It's fun to tease her, but I doubt Will will ever reach "understands relationships", so I can't see him with anyone. Everyone in MMS is a Big Sister (except maybe Bell) You're definitely right though, Morrigan's attraction to Will feels almost forced; She even uses a variation of Bell's reasoning.

Honestly I'd be afraid of choosing anyone in MMS even if it was an option, for fear of the strain it'd put on our friendships with everyone else.

You can see Morrigan thinking about Koko’s offer. It’s a good offer. Koko’s people have the best gear you’ve ever seen both in armor and weapons. Nothing is old, nothing is used. All top of the line. You could almost swear some of it still smelled new. It operated that way too, you’d never seen a jam or less than 100% accuracy from any of their weapons.

Along with another $1000… it’s very tempting. Then again you don’t know what Koko is doing. You’re not sure Koko tells Koko everything she’s doing. She’s got secrets and everyone knows it. Yet she’s never screwed you over. Not directly. Maybe she didn’t tell you about getting kidnapped on purpose but she didn’t have to give you a good gun and armor in the room either. You might be dead.

Morrigan knows that too. Koko has been generous and a good contact even if she doesn’t quite qualify as a friend. You aren’t sure what Morrigan is thinking but it’s likely she has the same thoughts.

“I’ll let him go in and get your answers,” says Morrigan slowly and carefully, “For $1000 and gear for the squad. Including Mary. That’s too good of an offer to pass up. I still want to know what the fuck is going on here after.”

Koko gives a thin smile as she looks at you. “I think you’ll find out soon enough. If she spills like she says she will...” Koko shakes her head. “I’ll get you what I promised. Along with answers. I don’t think you’ll take it too hard. Will if you would...” she gestures towards the door.

You glance to Morrigan, who nods to you. You head to the door leading into the room, finding it unlocked as you step inside. Aside from Sophia and her chair, you notice that there’s another one for you to sit on… and that you can’t see through the window! That’s neat.

Sophia lights up as she sees you, her singing stopping immediately.

“Will!” she says, “I knew you would come back for me.” She seems… odd.

“Koko says you’ll tell me stuff,” you say to her.

“Oh I will I will,” she says with a grin, “I just want one thing from you first.”

“What do you want?” you ask her.

“I want you to hit me,” she says, turning her cheek towards you, “Hit me in the face, you didn’t do that last time.”

You frown. She wants you to hit her?

You think about hitting her, briefly. You hit her before because she was hitting you, not because you enjoyed hitting her. It seems she likes you hitting her. You don’t know why, getting hit hurts. The face is pretty bad but you know there are worse places to be hit.

“Why?” you ask her, causing her to blink in surprise.

“Why what?” she asks.

“Why do you want me to hit you?” you ask her.

“Why do I want you to hit me?” she says, giving you a smile, “I want you to hit me because I enjoy the pain.”

She… enjoys pain? Pain is… painful. It hurts. You do not enjoy pain. You do not enjoy being hurt.

“Why do you enjoy being hurt?” you ask her, following along the trail of conversation.

“Why do you care?” she asks.

“I don’t like getting hurt,” you say to her, “I want to know why you do.”

Sophia’s smile is bitter, almost biting at you.

“It’s the only way I can feel anything,” she says, “Pain makes me warm, pain keeps me going, pain is the only pleasure I get from life. Everything else burned to the ground.”

You tilt your head at her statement. That’s… you aren’t really sure what to think of that. She… she’s hurt so much that she can only feel pain? Were you ever like that? Did you ever want to hurt somebody because you were hurt? You aren’t sure if you remember.

What do you say to her?
>That’s dumb. Pain is painful.
>You feel… sorry for her.
>You understand. You don’t necessarily agree… but you understand.
>Other.

The point isn't to make will a dependent man-child, the point is to make him a functional human who can make his own decisions.
Nem is saying when we stop being a toddler in an 18 year old's body we'll realize that girls are attractive sexually, and go off to chase girls that aren't basically big sisters to us.
Frankly if we do make will a functional human instead of forcing him to be a blanket hugging autistic the 'healthy' end won't be with someone from MM, that'd be some Oedipus shit right there.

You don’t know why but you feel sorry for Sophia. To be so sad that you only enjoy getting hurt more, that you can only feel good by having even more pain… even you never got that bad. You at least could get warm… they gave you blankets. Food and blankets and a little space to call your own. It was more than you’d ever wanted or dreamed of but… it’s yours.

“I’m sorry,” you say to her, “That you hurt so much.”

You don’t know why but Sophia suddenly turns angry at that.

“NO!” she yells, “YOU DO NOT GET TO FEEL SORRY FOR ME!”

You blink, more surprised at her suddenly yelling at you than being scared of her. She’s still tied to the chair anyway. Sophia continues yelling.

“I AM STRONG, POWERFUL. WE ARE THE FUTURE OF THE UNITED STATES. YOU ARE NOTHING! NOTHING! YOU WERE PULLED OUT OF A HOLE IN THE GROUND AND ALLOWED TO CRAWL OUT INTO THE LIGHT! I WAS STRONG, I STOOD ON MY OWN! I AM NOT WEAK LIKE YOU!”

It’s clear that this is meant to sound powerful, to scare you. You’ve been yelled at a lot though so it’s not really working. Especially since she’s tied to a chair and sounds… hysterical?

“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? WHAT ARE YOU WORTH? WHAT HAVE YOU SURVIVED TO MAKE YOU STRONG?”

Sophia is running out of steam at this point… you could interrupt her or you could let her continue and see what happens.

>Tell her what happened to you.
>Tell her she’s not strong.
>Just wait and see what she says next.”
>Other.

She asked you to tell her, so you do. You tell her all that you can remember, from the beginning to the end. Nobody comes in to interrupt you as you talk about the crash. How you were taken into the church. You tell her of the weeks you spent with the other kids with just a little bit of food. You tell her of the first time you killed a man, how you managed to survive battle after battle. How you killed, how you learned, how you fought to survive cold nights where you were almost certain you wouldn’t wake up. You tell her of the years spent almost starving to death. You tell her of the near constant beatings, of how you learned of pain.

You watch as she goes from defiant, to unsure, to wide eyed, to shocked. You watch as the fire in her eyes dies, replaced by wonder. In the end, as you finish up with how you got rescued by the army you watch her hang her head.

“All of that…” she says, “All of that and you still have hope?”

You shrug. “I am warm, I am full and I am not in pain.”

She laughs a dry laugh. “That is all it takes is it?”

“For me,” you say.

“I… I am not that strong,” she says, “Not yet.”

“Would you like a blanket?” you ask her.

“A what?” she asks you.

“A blanket,” you say.

“Why?” she asks you.

“It’s cold,” you say, pointing out the slightly chill temperature.

“It’s not that cold,” she says.

“You still haven’t told me what Koko wants,” you say to her, “It might get colder.”

She laughs, still dry, less hysterical.

“I’m going to tell you all of that am I?” she asks.

You just nod.

“Then I will take a blanket,” she says.

You go to the door, only to find a hand with two blankets in it. You take both of them and walk over to Sophia, wrapping one of them around her shoulders before doing the same as you take a seat.

“You are a strange person Will,” she says as you settle in.

“Yes,” you say to her.

She gives a small grin.

“Let me tell you what Koko wants to know then,” she says.

She tells you of lots of things. Of a base that is in the north. Of other people that live there. She tells you of various groups that were beaten back but are still active. She tells you of a plan between all of them to cooperate against the government. She also tells you of something called an “Inauguration” and how they plan to kill the people there and then rise up together, with help from someone who had been giving them weapons and supplies. She also tells you of her groups plans to destroy the others, how they’re sure that they’ll betray them sooner or later.

By the time she’s done you aren’t sure what time it is, you’ve just been listening. You hope Koko or someone else was listening too. Sophia looks… sad as she finishes.

“That is… most of what I know at least,” she says, “Perhaps more questions can help. You do not know of them do you?”

You shake your head no.

“I did not think so,” she says, “Thank you for listening to me Will. It was… liberating.”

“You’re welcome,” you say to her.

“I think you should go now,” she says, “I’m sure they want to talk to you.”

You nod, standing up as you hear a knock at the door.

Heading over you stop and turn back towards Sophia.

“Are you hungry?” you ask her.

“...Yes,” she says.

“I’ll get you food,” you reply.

“Thank you,” she says before you turn and head out the door.

Morrigan is there, as is Koko and several of her squad. None of them look very good, all grim faced and unhappy. Koko is the first to speak.

“Thank you Will,” she says, her voice flat, “That was very helpful. I’ll make sure Sophia gets fed.”

Morrigan meanwhile is still, working her jaw back and forth.

“Just who the fuck are you?” she finally asks Koko.

“I don’t exist,” says Koko, gesturing to her team, “None of do.” She gives Morrigan a grim smile. “And now neither do you.”

Nah. Koko is aligned with some intelligence agency, possibly a trusted stringer. The black market stuff is for a cover and to fund her operations. Guide I'm woried.
I hope you don't turn the plot into Jormungand S2 levels of bad, i never questioned your judgment while reading the through the archives, but this worries me.
Now for theories:
Koko and her people are from Langley, she was an analyst and they were agency operators.
Great thread as always Guide, are you running today as well?
>>
>>1692701
Mate Blackwater/Xe/Academi are a pretty damn small time player in the PSC world, they just tended to be loud and obnoxious, but my no means were they any form of secret squirrel type snake eaters. Triple Canopy, GRS, Longbow, Constellis International (in its early days) and STTEP however, are very much that kind of entity.
>>
I'm surprised that anon's didn't asked if Sophie's singing reminded Will about Cath's humming.
>>
>>1693092

From what I understand, Blackwater was unusual in how closely they operated as Agency muscle - Agency said "raid here" and they would. I cant speak for the other groups you mentioned, but there's a reason I said whatIi did.
>>
>>1693209
Nah BW wasn't even close to being connected to the Company, they got some contracts for guarding cash shipments from State Dept for paying off the locals, but that was the closest.

They mainly did PSDs, very poorly, with guntrucks, as well as a couple compound protection details, most famously Najaf Marine HQ.
>>
>>1693002

Not to argue, but....

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/20/us/20intel.html?_r=1&hp

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/08/20/blackwater.cia.ties/index.html

It goes somewhat farther than a few cash protection contracts. In 2004, they were hired as contractors for the CIA for an assassination program.

The only difference is that the cash protection contracts were official, and the rest was a private agreement between the Agency and Blackwater's founder. The actual actions the contractors took and what/if they were paid (Eric Prince routinely offered services to CIA for free) is lost forever to government files....
