Did they use some special technique when building the walls? I honestly want to look into it now, but for now lets try with our own means.

"Alright." - we pat pat Athena's head and pick her up in our arms as we head into the house

Uncle Dan is visiting, so we get to greet everyone as we enter the house. Mom is sitting with dad on the couch while our uncle is pouring himself a drink behind the kitchen counter, and Ellie is holding Elysia and fixing her hair.

"Ah, its been a while." - uncle Dan greets us, and offers to pour us a drink (of juice)
"I know you are busy, but you need to come home more than this, you know? Are you saving enough time for schoolwork?" - our mom looks at us with a nagging look

We put Athena back on the ground, and accept the juice glass uncle Dan poured for us,

We talk with our family for a bit, until Zoe comes downstairs wearing a summer dress and sandals.

Uh, isn't it too light and small a dress for winter? It just barely reaches her thighs, you know? Betwen the short skirt and the spahetti straps showing off her shoulders, isn't she cold? Ah, she has that nice 'fresh off the shower' look. I guess she was feeling hot anyway?

Her small feet barely make any sound as she comes down stairs. I guess kitties are really quiet as they walk, after all.

"Eldric, welcome home." - she says softly, then walks over
"I'm home." - then we apologize to Ellie, but we're actually going to Eopolis to work for a bit

Zoe's tail just drop almost straight towards the floor, for some reason. She had lept it almost straight up till now, I guess she really missed us.

"Ah!" - her tail and ears perk up right away. What an honest girl- "But I have to help with lunch..." - they drop back down slowly

"You can go, we have Dan to help with the rugrats." - says dad

I like to give options based on "big brother worried about cold" while he's completely unaware of her dressing up for him. I think we all enjoy it.

And so, with Zoe clinging on to our right hand, we [Treestride] over to the keep's inner garden. Well, it really is the disguised entry to the Dungeon.

"Ah!" - she trips and leans unto us

Lets pat her head and rub her kitty ears. Yup, she's super cute.

Well, let's head to the lab.

Ah, her tail's tip is swinging back and forth. That means she's happy, so I guess she really wanted to visit the keep, uh?

"Oh, sir, the prince isn't here today, but lord Asmund is by the test chamber." - one of the lab assistants says to us as he sees us.

He's Asmund's assistant, by the way.

We introduce him to Zoe, and head around the lab to the test chamber.
It is a sealed room, so we need to knock on the door before going in.

"Ah, Eldric, come on in." - he says when he spots us- "Hello, young miss."
"Hello," - Zoe greets him back softly

I wonder if she likes the dark and elegant type?
No no, she's too little for that, right? Yeah, we almost thought she liked a guy. She's way too small for that still...

Yup, she's definitively too little to worry about boys for a while. Definitively.

"What are you trying in there?"
"Well, you wrote about the Alquian ship's weapons, remember? So I wanted to make a try before looking at their schematics. Perhaps something interesting will come out of it." - he says and holds the door open for us to go in

On top of the desk (its more of a safety barrier than a desk, really) is... I guess its something haldway between a gun and a wand?

From what he explains, its definitively a magical tool. No gunpowder or any moving parts... I guess that's what he thinks a gun is.

As he shows it to us, he explains that the 'gun' is really a safety device, as the 'shell' does all the work. Basically, the "gun" is just there to contain the blast of the magically triggered shell and point it forth.

"It's a bit slow to charge and the ammo is rather expensive, so it really shows its a prototye."

This is a good time to introduce Sykia to him, and so, we call her out of our [Menagerie] so they can meet.

As expected from Asmund, he treats her like a person rather than a pet... anyway, they both seem interested in each other ideas, and with a little input from ourselves as well, we come up with a mortar-like system for launching magical ammo several hundred meters away (actually 3km).

Its not that great a range, compared to the naval guns, but it is a very light and portable weapon that can be quickly deployed for assaulting or defending a position.

Obviously, it is purely on paper right now,. and it will be a couploe of weeks before we get started in a prototype... or thats how it would be if not for our succubus helpers.

With their help, we can have the pieces made as soon as we finish with the design, so we'll be testing it within the month. With any luck, we can try them out at the Jade islands when the [ERROR]s invade there.

Anyway, let's go check on the data crypt under the keep, and see how goes the work there.

We ask the automata about the files location, and it reports to us their locations. Ah, just retrieving the data is a task on itself. The shelves here cover 67 floors, almost from wall to wall, after all...

At least our ancestors had the good grace to register anything they thought of as important in stainless metal plates.

And so, it takes us the better part of an hour just to gather all the plates... thanks goodness we have [Inventory] to carry these for us.

Hm. I wonder if we should have brought something to eat? Probably

We sit down together and start checking the plates.

It looks like our ancestors have found quite a varied array of ways to stop the [ERROR]s from phasing through the keep's walls, from the mundane to the impractical.

We already knew about creating a triple-layered barrier with living earth between two layers, so let's set that aside.

A strong emotional attachment to the material employed causes a psychic backlash on the souless [ERROR] constructs... that sounds pretty esoteric, but the word construct makes us think that we are right in thinking of them as such.

It seems several outer walls are actually crossed by wiring through which current is meant to flow during an attack... ah, there's a set of magical generators a few floors down from where we are. I guess that's what also powers the ligntning ballistaes.

Ah, it seems someone in the family had figured out forcefields before we did, but theirs are really thin and multilayered instead of the 'thick' ones we use.

A teleport array maze surrounds the keep, in a matter similar to a minefield. Since the [ERROR]s are minsless and just walk in a straight line, even if they activate several times, the [ERROR]s will keep walking into them. Pity that they need time to reload between activations.

Of course, we are skippinmg structural or architectonic solutio0ns, such as the miles deep moat around the keep, which only leaves us with five rather than seven... well, what should we look into?

Well, we are certainly familiar with the idea of electrical wires within our walls, but it does give us a couple of problems.

Specifically, a large enough power source, and safety issues.

"Eh?" - Zoe's ears go *swish swish* as she moves them slightly. Its as cute as expected- "You don't need to make that many adjustments. After all, magic items all use mana to produce various effects. If its just converting mana into a form of energy, I can do it myself."

Uhmm... I guess she's right. We haven't crafted any magical weapon ourselves, but the automata uses mana as a power source, after all.

Worst case scenario, if we can't build a direct converter, it would be really easy for us to build a generator by having it go mana -> mechanical movement -> torque -> electricity.

As soon as we arrive at the kitchen, we grab a basket of fruits before heading to the bungalow.

She is still clinging to us with one hand, but now she's also holding her fruit to her lips. Ah, the way she takes little nibbles off it is really lady like, what a good girl.

Once we arrive at the bungalow, we help her up, and she climbs up slowly while her tail swishes back and forth.

Oh, we got a panty shot. Well, it's not like our little sister's panty shots do anything for us, but lets try and get her to wear things with the proper tail hole in the future, as it tends to lift up her skirt otherwise.

The maids seem to be keeping this place clean and tidy, even though its not part of the manor per se, that's nice.

Well, they have permission to use it on their days off, anyway.

After we help Zoe up into the bungalow, we open a chest to pick out a hammock (Its bad to just leave them out. Plus its part of a hammock's charm that you can fold it away to save space once you're done with it) and secure it to both support beams in the middle of the hammock.

Actually, you can place as many as 12 hammocks if you want to, since there's four support beams in the middle of the large single room, and there's rings at either side of them, as well as on the nearby walls, but for now, let's just place the hammock between two of the pillars to keep it nicely near the middle of the room.

Zoe is really soft and warm. As she gets comfortable, her body rubs gentle against us until she lays down her head against our shoulder, her tail swinging back and forth slowly in the air, while her ears flicker in attention.
