The Raiders – Part 23

You are about to confront another cadre of githyanki in the Lair Dunzamn has arranged. Your late arrival has closed all the prime locations within the lair to you, unless you take one. Leader Joerno has taken onee of the better locations; his cadre include a single knight, a single spellcaster, and and two warriors. And one dragon, of course.

That's the real problem.

You don't particularly desire a fight, but it may come down to that. You cannot ask Dunzamn for a favor, and realistically you are running short on your personal wealth with which to bribe anyone with. If he wants slaves, he's out of luck; you have enough people who want them that you can't promise them to anyone else. Nor are you inclined to do so, especially with the value of elven youths and childer. Not to mention Siobhan's and Yzia's fascination with princesses. You're not really sure if Siobhan is picking that up from you subconsciously or she's just that strange.

Given that you no longer need as much rest as you used to, and your wide variety of skills and means, you could offer services or even favors in exchange. You don't like incurring debts, especially with your status being so tenuous.

That thought brings the nagging memory back. The memory of the Master Smiths telling you some kind of monster was moving about the stronghold, coming on the heels of your own personal revelation of being something comparatively monstrous compared to the average githyanki as it did, tugs at you. The idea of being so alien to your people that they sense you as a monster is both terrifying, and somewhat thrilling. Will you still love me when I am declared anathema and heretic, scheduled for execution or worse, my love?

I will love you were you burned to ashes and I to a molten lump of slag, mistress mine, she sings softly to you, less words and more a series of ideas and thoughts, much more complex than what she used to be capable of. Your blade has grown, and wild in some ways. You could not ask for more. Well, you could, and you just might get it at this rate, so you try and avoid asking for more.

Your Cadre approaches the mezzanine were you had told Tzanzi that if cages were put it, you would find it perfect. A water source nearby, lavatories, and solid rock on the opposite side, isolated from the main groups of the Raid and yet with easy access and escape routs. There are four other cadres up there, but three are in no position to be a threat to Joerno as it stands and the fourth is mildly disinterested in his cadre but is relatively close by. That could change if he has alliances, of course, or if they are particularly....devout. It is as good a word as any for those who take Her Majesty's edicts as unquestionable and absolute truth.

Personally, you're starting to wonder about that too. That thought is hidden behind layers of mental defenses. You learn from your mistakes.

There is one thing in your favor: you have been casting preparatory spells and combat defenses on your way up. The rest of your Cadre has prepared for combat as well; between yourself, Tzanzi, and Yashi, you have a more than significant presence. Even Falna is not unknown in the Stronghold, but with your magic active and potent you present a magnificent sight.

Your half-plate armor is soft and light as silk, your grace is even more unlike your kind than normal, and your Cadre's minds are attuned and linked to yours and each others – even Tzanzi's, the spell that provides this link working on a subconscious (and thus, intact) level rather than a higher thought process, allowing your coordination to be of much higher order than most. With Siobhan enchanted to assist you in battle, her guidance will allow you to use as much force or defensive skill as you need without suffering nearly as much distraction from it. With Flight and Haste added almost as afterthoughts, the latter upon your cadre as well, you are really a major threat even to most high ranked knights.

And you haven't even cast your actual combat spells.

In the name or preparation, of course, you have a large number of options. You are shameless in your penchant for over-preparation usually. This time you might make an exception for the showmanship of it of course. But then again....decisions, decisions.

[] Bold and straightforward. No need to complicate things.
[] Tzanzi isn't a skulker....technically speaking. Send her to infiltrate.
[] Have Yashi use her little spies to study the situation in depth up there before you go up.
[] Activate Battlemagic Sense, and be prepared for literally anything.
[] Mythic Transformation allows you to still think and cast effectively in addition to being a massive bolster to your personal prowess. Cast it.
[] Write in?
Siobhan thinks the weak should not only fear the strong, they should give her some treats so she doesn't kill them all put of pure spite.

[X] Have Yashi use her little spies to study the situation in depth up there before you go up.

Yashi, I want a detailed explanation of what is going on up there before we completely ascend the stairs. You don't pause in your strides, making your Cadre seem all the more impressive. A fair number of githyanki are following, mostly individuals curious as to what you intend, and undoubtedly your reputations will all increase as a result. Which is both good and bad, really, but you'll take every iota of reputation you can.

At once, my Leader, she immediately replies, concentrating on the Prying Eyes in her hands for only a second or two before they rise and dart away in several directions. They return in a few more and she pauses, concentrating on each one. You stop your ascent, unwilling to let her stumble and fall as she concentrates on the eyes. You smile at Kteine's solicitous protection of the spellcaster, and the young githyanki has the grace to take a step up and closer to the spellcaster protectively....and blush just a touch.

Bonding with our spellcaster, Lovely? She is a little old for you, isn't she? Or was it because you both indulged yourself with my irascible slave? You do not exclude Siobhan, just everyone else as Kteine struggle to hide her reaction to the mild accusation.

She is a valuable and powerful asset to our cause, Akko, she protests a little strenuously. Are you saying that it looks like more? The question is asked a little less intensely, colored by embarrassment and doubt.

You shake your head as Yashi studies the results of her multiple gaze. Not at all; I approve in many ways. But you should keep in mind that Yashi is older than Yzia and I combined, and will not hesitate to cause conflict between you and Schechei or you and Falna for the sake of her own amusement. Kteine becomes a little more wary, which is a good thing. That said, I believe she enjoys the attention and company, and that she is developing a friendship as well. I think that you will be fine if you are cautious, perhaps even more than fine.

Kteine is a little baffled and a little embarrassed by your teasing, which is rather amusing, and Siobhan thinks so too. When Yashi delivers her telepathic report you make quick, simple gestures to Tzanzi, informing her of the contents of the report with the unique and complex language of warfare you have developed with her. She shares it with a few others, but you are the origin of the technique, something that has grown among a number of skulkers and murderers over time.
>>
They are still in the process of setting up camp. I suspect there is a sixth member, a skulker, or else they are unconcerned about others trying to take their territory. Joerno has a very strong affection for the two warriors, whom are a male and female pair, and I suspect unmated. She gives your Cadre a layout of the area, crafting a tiny Glamer for Tzanzi to look at as she gives the rest of you a mental image.

You smile as Tzanzi gives your illusionist a grateful nod. You like it when your playmates get along so well.

They're spread fairly wide, and not nearly finished setting up their camp, but they're going about it slowly; Joerno has them keeping an eye out, but you can see what Yashi means – there's an awfully convenient stack of supplies near the stairway that would be an ideal place for a rear ambush. You point out the obvious routs of surround and attack, the potential ambush Yashi pointed out, and instruct your cadre to maintain the same 'posture' as before....but you also inform them that the 'skulker' is most likely the dragon, rather than an actual skulker. That makes your Cadre wary, but does nothing to intimidate or frighten them. With that many in his cadre, said dragon would be about Yzia's age.

Then you continue up, aware that Joerno is very likely to surmise – correctly – that he is going to be confronted with a very pushy Gish Leader given your public approach.

You arrive on the mezzanine, and take in the view before you. It's a large open area, with a fairly high ceiling – at least large enough for Yzia to remain on all fours in her natural form and not be terribly crowded – with access to lavatories and a fountain nearby, though not too close to be troublesome. They have their equipment and property spread out but not yet packed; it looks like they were planning on setting up a cage as well, or else they just like a lot of breathing space. Both are equally likely at the moment.

Joerno is a tall, lean githyanki warrior with highly decorated hair – finger bones, gems, brooches, and the like. That makes him most likely a berserker warrior of one sort or another, but the mostly empty spell component pouch hints at some spellbinder ability. He carries a Silver Sword of course, one which thrums inquisitively in your mind; you respond gently, though Siobhan bristles a the mild intrusion, causing the other silver Sword to retreat immediately. At first you believe him to be wearing particularly baroque barbed chain mail, but as he sheds his gauntlets and approaches you you can see the places where the chains sink into his flesh at his wrist, shifting ever so slightly with each movement he makes. They shift against his movements as well, animated by his power.

Kyton path berserker-gish, obviously, and fairly well advanced on his path. You suspect that what few components he carries are the most valuable ones and some focus components. He seems fairly calm at the moment, and his eyes are a rich wood color, marking him as younger than you by some decades though his appearance is somewhat older otherwise – the strain of sorcery upon the body, no doubt.

The warriors are off to the right, pausing in their unpacking as your Cadre approaches. Even with your silent commands to relax and be at ease (to a certain extent) the two warriors are wary. A female and male, as Yashi had said. Related, you suspect – they have a very similar build and cast. The female is wearing mithril armor like your own, enameled white and chased in gold, breastplate and kirtle, sturdy bracers. In addition to her sword, she caries a well constructed composite bow and a seemingly empty quiver. Her cousin wears black enameled full plate armor chased in silver, can has a wicked looking fauchard in addition to his sword....which he unlimbers as you and Joerno salute one another. They're wary but not worried as of yet, though the female githyanki hides her worry less well than her cousin.

The spellcaster is obvious: like Yashi he is dressed in tight fittings leathers and silks, his bracers and collar gleaming in thick gold and heavy with diamonds. He sneers at Yashi, though he is some distance away; you suspect it has more to do with her apparent youth and status as an illusionist, rather than anything personal. That will change quickly. He has two rods at his waist, one clearly a boon to spellcasting, the other a diamond-tipped mace that crackles with electrical energies and power. Rod of Thunder and Lightning, you would bet. Chased in gold and made of black iron, it matches the motif of hiss other defenses and magics, so you suspect he makes the items himself, given the other rod, despite it's curlicues and gems, is thicker and made almost entirely of gold.

The knight is imposing, of course, his heavily decorated and personalized full plate having the regalia he wears permanently attached to it, unlike the other warriors'. All of Joerno's cadre is fairly well decorated with badges on their wartime regalia, but his is further complicated by a set of high ranked gift badges that indicate he has some pull among the knights. He is also a holy heretic, the brand of Her Majesty's sigil burned into his forehead. That makes him capable of healing and support of his allies, more than a destroy of Her Majesty's enemies. He remains off to the side, though his positioning indicates he might try and cut of your escape route to the stairs. He is armed with a Silver Sword of peculiar design, one which mutters unceasingly to itself in your mind, a dull and meaningless background noise you tune out instantly.

“Gish Leader Akko, what brings you to me, of all githyanki?” His curiosity is genuine, and the slow throbbing of the veins at his temple is not an indicator of anger or worry, but of the potency of his war-rage. “I do hope that you don't intend me violence – I would be hard pressed to do battle against the Paragon of Githyanki.” Surprisingly, he seems very sincere in both the compliment and the admittance of his lesser skills.

[X] No, no violence intended. But I would like to discuss a few things, if you don't mind.
[X] None planned, but I am a cautious creature. I would like to discuss sometime you may find troubling, but could benefit us both.

Your diplomatic skills were hard won, and rely more on your understanding of githyanki culture and psychology than any inherent or natural charm. While you admittedly have a way with the females and can catch the eye of a male, it isn't really small talk or a bedroom voice that nets their attention. Sad, but true, despite Siobhan's rather intense protests.

“I rather thought that it was a jest and not a title, Leader Joerno. Flattering, though.” He smiles, and tucks his gauntlets in his belt, while your cadre relaxes their intense demeanor somewhat and start to spread out, further allowing the group to relax.

Tzanzi and Auena go to speak with the paired warriors, who relax somewhat with the male leaning on this fauchard and the female hopping to sit on a pile of packed supplies. Yashi and Kteine remain close to you, Yashi pointedly ignoring the spellcaster, which only incenses him further. Schechei glances at Falna, who shrugs and walks over to the railing and leans against it, as Schechei goes to speak with the wizard. The spellcaster preens at the opportunity to assist a young, lovely gish; you have to work at keeping a straight face at the images of disgust and annoyance Schechei projects to you and Falna. The knight joins Tzanzi, Auena, and the two warriors, sheathing the massive blade at his back rather than at his side.

“I do not intend any violence despite the presentation I made; it is difficult to tell how any given githyanki will react to an intrusion this early in the Lair's occupation.” He inclines his head, acknowledging the truth of your statement. “Still, I would like to discuss the disposition of your place in the Lair with you, which you may find annoying but I think might benefit us both.”

You certainly gained his interest. Joerno's reputation as being unusually reasonable – interspaced with bouts of horrific violence that would make an inquisitor proud – is well deserved it seems. His relationship with the bother and sister warrior is a subject of much gossip, largely in that the pair avoid carnal relations directly using a third ass intermediary for their affections. Joerno is something of a epicure, enjoying exotic situations the same way you enjoy exotic beauties. His easygoing nature masks a surprisingly keen awareness, through he's not a grand intellect. Still, to have survived so long with the berserker potency combined with a clearly masochistic nature, he is no ignoramus.
>>
You gesture to the railing of the mezzanine some distance from Falna, though you place him between yourself and her. He follows and looks out over the milling githyanki warriors. “The view is really the only reason I chose it. We've had a few cadres try and push us, but between myself and Lord Istesh, we manage to deter most of them. I have no doubt you'd not only be thee exception, but welcome the challenge, so I am glad you're taking the time to discuss it with me.”

“You would not be entirely wrong,” you admit graciously, Siobhan chortling in your mind. “I would like this location for my own Cadre, as a staging area, but also for a secondary pen.” He looks at you, is expression interested once again. “The one in ten rule is a little harsh, but effective; Dunzamn stands to acquire a vast amount of resources on this gamble. Public pens might receive more attention from the guild in this instance, but I like to keep my hand in. I plan on importing some o my own and my cadre's slaves as support; the larger area would help, and allow us to keep our own ransom captures more safely intact. Between human ingenuity and elven desperation and magic, large groups of slaves are....hard to control. And protect.”

He is already thinking about how he can turn this to his advantage; he's somewhat easy to read, which makes you justifiably paranoid. Still, his enjoyment of the view suggests a voyeur's predilection. And he has some respect for your reputation – a favor could go a long way with him.

[] Offer to keep his ransoms with yours as well as offering unique sights.

Specifically, is it wrong that I'm thinking that this could be a situation in which having Rana's talents be displayed and potentially shared would go over nicely? Because if he wants a nice view, that's a service she can certainly provide. I'm just not sure if that's against Akko's style.

Since he apparently wasn't very attached to this place, maybe we'll luck out and get it on the cheap! Unless we need to roll I guess, that's basically a toss-up, especially going by our rolls so far.
>>
>>1676855
Akko has put on shows. She's put on personal shows. As she told Schechei and Kteine, he githyanki have no body modesty.
>>
Out of interest what kind of resources would we offer access to?
>>
>>1676872
Your slave pens, the magic and psychic abilities of your Cadre and yourself, restricted use of your slaves, water for purposes other than drinking, and other minor conveniences and assistance. Basically lots of minor but helpful things that make life in the lair easier to tolerate. conveniences and what the rather spartan yet decadent githyanki culture considers luxuries.
>>
>>1676874
Hmm, I suppose if we can spare those things it's not a bad deal, although would Akko have easier access to for example water than he would? Or is it just letting his cadre have plenty while Akko's has less?
>>
Not sure I'm a fan of the "restricted use of your slaves" part. What kind of use are we talking about?
>>
[XXX] He wouldn't have to move far – in fact, he would be the closest cadre to your own.
[XX] Offer to keep his ransoms with yours as well as offering unique sights.
[X] The truth is you need the space and the location, and you would be willing to offer favors....
[X] Write in? I can also promise you glorious and pleasurable sights and showcases of some of the prettiest and most well trained slaves that you have ever seen.

You consider quickly but thoroughly, and start off with fact. He has been reasonable and accommodating – the truth won't hurt you here, and might help. For once. “While the view is nice, it is not the view that attracted my attention; I haven't any issues having other cadre close by, and your cadre would be welcome to remain close by. I would prefer it as the basic fact of the matter what I need is the space and isolation from the main War Chambers. I make certain groups of people uncomfortable.”

He nods agreeably. “I was observing your interaction with Lord Kohl, and Istesh is a little on edge in your presence as well. You aren't planning to get an inquisition called on you, Akko...?” he asks with interest.

“Dead Gods, no! What in Their Thousand Names would make you think that?” It wouldn't be so troubling if it were not too close to a truth you don't want to advertise. True, you aren't planning anything that would target you with an inquisition, but you're involved in at least three things that might warrant one, THANK YOU FALNA. Well, the other two are on your own head, of course, but still.

“There are certain rumors concerning how powerful you truly are. They say you will have – or already have – earned a True Silver Sword, and that you are being courted to create a stonghold of your own, or even establish your own raiding Lair.” He leans close, his hand brushing along your lower back as he whispers softly in your ear – deliberately demonstrating an unnecessary familiarity to those watching, as telepathy would be far more private and not requires a caress. “Now that might be a privilege I would give up much for....among others. Joining a Lair or stronghold headed by yourself.”

….that's something of a surprise.

[] Are you offering to be my Lieutenant, or trying to seduce me?
[] So you would be willing to give up the location and assist me for the opportunity to be under....my command?
[] I was not aware that the defenses I needed were not against a physical assault, Joerno.
[] Now that is curious....I would give much to know the source of those rumors.
[] Smile and partly draw Siobhan, and let him see her....and see what she says about his interest in you.
[] Write in?
Siobhan is definitely surprised at how bold and intimate he is being with you. She may not approve, but he seems sincere even to her.

Damn rumors! Can't squash the damn things.
>>
>>1676879
Akko's slaves aren't merely sex toys. they serve other purposes as well - Yustuoc can manage aa forge and is a guard good enough to cope with lesser warriors, Cyrillian is a soothing and gentle presence, while poor Mayune is actually an accomplished wizard who has no access to magic - but will when she arrives here. They can all provide nonsexual services githyanki value. Akko is fond of useful as well as beautiful slaves.

I'm surprised the guy is so forward given Akko's reputation, although granted I wouldn't be surprised if this barely counts as a friendly handshake to gith.

Siobhan is definitely surprised at how bold and intimate he is being with you. She may not approve, but he seems sincere even to her.
[X] I was not aware that the defenses I needed were not against a physical assault, Joerno.

You're not adverse to males – they're just not what you are currently interested in as a general rule. So his forward attempt isn't particularly offensive or even unwelcome. You suspect he's also trying to establish that you are not adverse to him in particular, taking advantage of your proximity to suggest to others that he has a powerful ally who might take umbrage at any assaults or trouble inflicted upon him.

Clever and charming, like certain females you associate with.

You turn but step closer, allowing his light grip to remain on your hip. You can see the wariness in his eyes, though his expression is happy and calm looking. Very wise of him, really; the reputation for abrupt and effective action is exceedingly well known. “I can see that perhaps I chose the wrong sort of defenses when I was on my way here. I am told I am a consummate seducer, but you seem to do well enough on your own.” Your acceptance of his gestures and actions allow him to relax, though not completely.

Reaching up you cup his cheek, feeling the smooth bone beneath, and you run your thumb along his lower spur. “Those are some very curious and interesting rumors. I have to wonder how one comes across such things, and where the source could be found. It would be worth something to me to have that information.” You tilt your head and smile looking into his eyes. He relaxes even further, and turns his face into your palm. “I may not give you precisely what you seem to be asking for, but I will say I am not adverse to putting on a personal show or two for our mutual pleasure.”

“Your consideration means much, and thaat you are allowing me this opportunity at all is very generous of you. I cannot help but feel that it might explode in my face if I allow it to continue. Orisara would never let me live it down.” You glance at the supplies stacked near the stairwell, and he follows your line of sight. He smiles and shakes his head slightly as you lower your hand to press it lightly over his chains, your gauntlet protecting you from the wicked barbs. They shift at your caress, and so does he, in a manner that suggests a very masculine discomfort. “I should have known better than to try and outmaneuver you. Your personal combat is not the only measure of your skill, obviously.” His wry smile makes you laugh softly.
>>
>>1676887
>[] Are you offering to be my Lieutenant, or trying to seduce me?

>Just to let you know, the last man who insisted on trying the latter has been buried under more troubles he could handle.
>>
“She is no less clever than you are, and I am flattered. If you manage to track down the source of the rumors, it would be appreciated....but allow me to dispel at least one.” You lower your hand from his chest to Siobhan's hilt and half draw her. Her shining black blade gleams with flecks of rainbow fire, like living black opal rather than mere steel and deep crystal. She lets him feel the weight of her awareness, and to your amusement she is slightly jealous, with no reason to be so.

Joerno shudders and watches as you slowly slide her back into the sheath, her stern 'gaze' lingering. “I am now even more glad that I chose to hear you out. That was the rumor I least expected to be true, and the fight would have ended abruptly, not after pitched battle aas the others believed.” He salutes you and bows his head deeply, though his eyes remain on yours.

“The mezzanine is yours, with my gratitude. I will most certainly take you up on your hospitality and the courtesies you offer, as well as extending my own.” He stands up and gestures in a circular motion over his head, and then directs his cadre's attention to the nearby camp, which has been very attentive to the goings ons. With excellent reason, admittedly! You doubt they'll put up any sort of fight. “Master Gish Akko, please consider me your stalwart ally,” he murmurs, before stepping in close. You tilt your head and he turns his face, brushing his cheek against yours as you turn slightly away, allowing him to rub his spurs against yours – a ritualized version of what was once a mating ritual when your people were slaves.

Open mouths and kisses were worrisome when you didn't know exactly what you were truly allowing near your face, and the best way to avoid the enemy moving up on you was to be looking past your lover as you stood to enjoy sexual relations, male or female. Still, his offers are curious and intriguing, and ripe with potential both good and bad.

He slips past you, as you watch, while Falna gazes at you with new found respect, as well a a strange doze of envy. You turn to the platform, and see that just about everyone is behaving more than amicably. But it is Tzanzi you pay the most attention to. The murderess has a relaxed, calm demeanor, and is smiling slightly. When she turns to rejoin you, she gives you a faint flutter of fingers, a barely noticeable nod.

So she thinks they are cozying up for their own benefit, and unlikely to betray you without a very high gain....good. You gesture and your Cadre forms up near you, though the wizard is very reluctant to assist his cadre, finding Yashi infinitely more interesting. You're not really surprised; the poor male is nearly huffing in his need despite his earlier derision. “Yashi, what did you do to that poor githyanki?”
>>
I spoke aloud to him at length concerning the affections of Tzanzi and yourself towards me, but when I suggested Schechei and Kteine might be interested in me, he very nearly spilled in his robes, I think.” Falna makes an annoyed sound, and Yashi merely looks at her flatly, her pale, ancient eyes gazing fearlessly into that unhappy countenance. “I have no designs on your mate, Falna. She is beautiful and powerful, and that is a man who desperately wants more than he has, and a preference for young, ignorant githyanki spellcasters and gish he can manipulate.

Auena shakes her head. “He is courting the exact wrong Cadre for that.” Hissing laughter follows her declaration, and not just yours.

Gesturing at the mezzanine, you direct your Cadre's attention back on track. “I want this place secured, magically as well as physically. I want lists of your desired equipment, supplies, and slaves from the Stronghold. Falna, you said you can craft shelter for us; do so, at a position that is between our side of the stairway and halfway to the wall. Make it clear that we own this location. Yashi, if you can I want walls and wards suggesting this is our space, especially along the railing. The rest of you see to our equipment and tools being prepared. I am going to see about preparing some cages.”

You receive a number of salutes and acquiescing gestures, though Tzanzi remains behind, watching the others disperse and running a finger along the edge of her obsidian mask.

Oh, is it late in anonland? I'm lucky that XS usually runs through the early afternoon or evening.
>>
[XX] Take her with you to where you plan on starting work, and wait for her to explain her nerves.
[X] Nervous are we? Do you need a distraction?
[x] Which of the three troubles you? The female, the male, or the scum?
[x] Not jealous, I know; what concerns you about this? It went well, yes?

Turning to your murderer, you gently take the wrist of the hand that she is using to rub at the mask, and bring it to your lips. The soft, slow kiss is followed by a slow, very hot lick, and then you take her wrist in both of yours, exposing the soft skin that covers corded sinew and sleek muscle. She shudders as you set your teeth against the trio of tendons there, pressing your spurs along the soft skin rather than using them to threaten. You run your tongue along each tendon and she shudders violently, baring her spurs at the sensations.

You slowly lower her wrist and she takes deep, slow breaths, her cheeks flushed. “I am glad I could make you feel better,” you comment mildly, and she opens her eyes, grateful and not a little excited. “Come with me, if you like.” You begin drawing Arcane Force to you, pulling with it the idea of a spell, and instantly layering the spell with the others in your mind.

As you walk towards the wall opposite the rails, which is long and straight – which is good for once – you hold out your palm. You incant the spell with florid, quick gestures and a flash of green light erupts from your palm as you Disintegrate a cubic section of the rock, fin dust all that remains. You then pull more arcane force and repeat the process, this time revitalizing the remnants of the spell in your mind.

“Your power has increased much more than you let on, Akko,” murmurs Tzanzi as she walks with you. “While the knight asked probing questions, I believe the female is most concerned about your apparently intimate relationship with her Leader.”

“No such thing, murderer mine. He is using me as a way to secure his people's safety from others, and may think he is manipulating me into assisting him. I know you aren't jealous though – you're above such things. For the moment he is sincere and willing to ally himself with us, but the only true currency of trust is blood. ” Her derisive snort is more amusement than disgust. You Disintegrate another section of rock from the wall, and then two more follow it. “Unfortunately, blood is cheap among our kind.”

“So very true. I think that it is a matter of needs others are unable to assist her in relieving.” You glance up at her and pause, moving into her and allowing her to slide her arms about your shoulders, her sharp nails clicking along the chain-mail that protects your belly. “Oh yes, I believe the rumors about the siblings for certain.”

“They really are siblings? He is the older, obviously, but I thought more cousins.” You stop and kneel, taking out a handful of powdered gemstones from within your component pouch, pouring half the contents of the case. “Different fathers?”

“Same, actually, they smell alike.” That makes you smile as you concentrate on the ritual and slowly pour the glittering sand into a complex symbol. “Mated pair I suspect. I am curious if they could become a mated pair if the taboo against it was not quite so strong.”

“For Dead Gods' sake, do not even suggest that to Yzia or she will get me pregnant in an effort to marry the child I get her pregnant with to the one she gives me.” You inform Yashi that you require use of a Permanency and she responds by walking towards you and Tzanzi.

“I am not quite sure how the two of you would manage such a thing, and to be honest it terrifies me even more that you are utterly sincere.” Tzanzi glances at Yashi, and falls silent, as the youthful looking illusionist begins the incantation.

For your part, you Disintegrate one more cube, making five perfect cells....and then apply the Arcane force to your mind once more, coalescing it into another spell. You cast the Wall of Force mere inches from the wall, creating nearly impenetrable and inescapable cells for your prisoners, which Yashi then makes Permanent using the dust you provided and a generous portion of powdered gold, silver, and adamantine of her own. Tzanzi smiles, noticing you've left a small gap away from the wall so as not to suffocate your prisoners.

“I was wondering why you needed so much space. Now I know,” Tzanzi murmurs as you kiss Yashi and send her on her way. “You will be using the Teleportation to imprison them?”

“Mine is a variant – it allows me to redirect those whom allow me to teleport them to places I wish them to be.” She stares at you with her one good eye as you rise ans turn towards her, gently and carefully taking off her half-mask. “Now....tell me what troubles you,” you whisper softly, before kissing the scarred warrior deeply, and somewhat fiercely, your arms about her neck and entirely at odds with your request for her confession.

You're glad you are wearing armor as she grinds her nails along the small of your back in the slow, deliberate way that would have left you bleeding at the very least. Screaming at worst. Right now though....it's just exciting.

Thanks for running! It was fun. What time of night would be in consideration if you do run? Earlier than normal or regular time?
>>
>>1677105
Thanks for running! So far this guy seems almost too good to be true, but I think we can handle any potential surprises he'd have in store for us.

Could you explain it means to be a"Holy Heretic"? Like is it just a matter of channeling divine energy to heal instead of harm?
>>
>>1677118
Most likely 11:00 pm.Monday PST.
>>
>>1677120
A Holy Heretic is essentially a Lawful Evil Antipaladin that channels positive energy and receives the benefit of the paladin abilities rather than the anitpaladin's typical abilities. Note that githyanki antipaladins are lawful evil, not chaotic evil (as per their origins in the ancient Fiend Folio).
>>
>>1677121
Alright, I'll try and make it a bit early then!
>>
>>1677120
Also Joerno's Kyton path reminded me, what are the general feelings the Githyanki have towards the outer planes in terms of afterlives? Like I imagine living in the Astral Plane gives you a greater awareness than most who dwell in material planes, that when they eventually die, their soul is going to go to one of these places, and specifically the shittier one. However, it could also leave them kind of jaded since the only thing that really changes is the quality of your cage as your soul is broken down for material (unless that's not how it works here)
>>
Thanks for writing
>>
>>1677124
I was more wondering if there were requirements beyond the forehead brand, and if the "heresy" extends beyond not using every bit of divine power to hurt the enemy.
>>
>>1677134
that is essentially the issue - they divert the divine power Valaakith grants to bolster the githyanki. While she allows and accepts it, they are on a much more tenuous footing than even powerful spellcasters are.

>>1677130
You forget - githyanki souls are already consigned to another, closer divine power than other souls tend to be; they literally have a local deific being that has a claim on their souls and psychic force. What she does with it, no one knows.
>>
>>1677143
Oh yeah I didn't think she had yet reached the point where she had absolute dibs over every Githyanki soul. So wait she's managed to completely become a good, or is there still just a little to go.
>>
>>1677149
>>1677143
Nothing provable either way. Githyanki have a lot of work to do ahead of them, what with genocide of the githzerai and the illithid race, so most don't even consider the theological ramifications of worshiping a lich queen who can actually grant divine power.
>>
>>1677151
That reminds me, can Illithids only use humans as "proper" hosts (since I think I remember they use ropers sometimes?), or is that just their preference?

Because if the former, I'm surprised there aren't particularly militant gith who don't want to destroy humanity in an effort to impede the Illithids (humans on average being much easier to kill than a Mind Flayer)
>>
>>1677158

Illithids can use basically all humanoids as "proper" host.
>>
>>1677168
Ah, nevermind then.

XS, what is the general reaction of Githyanki to Githzerai? Will they cooperate when it's mutually beneficial? Can that be explained away in some way, or do we have to murder them all because they won't do what the queen says?
>>
>>1677672
Have a hard time imagining anything less than the Enemy making that kind of uneasy cease-fire happen really.
>>
>>1677672
>>1677151
Whoops.
>>
>>1677672

Generally speaking, the Githzerai are only somewhat less hated than the Illithids.

The whole conflict between the two Gith kinds is that they *don't* want to cooperate even if it's mutually beneficial.
>>
>>1677672
Imagine, if you will, the entire purpose of your entire race is to exterminate something so virulently evil that most people can't even recognize it as evil because it won't let them think that much. They have geneticallyand mentally altered your race into rage-driven psychopaths to whom love is a literal threat, so you've been forced to create an entire caste of your own species whose only job is to have sex and raise children in order to ensure that your race can survive.

Now imagine a group of your people, knowing exactly how destructive, deadly, and unreasonable these enemies are, has decided to leave because they don't want to fight and they don't want to support this fight - even though there are pacifist and non combat roles they could live in relative safety. These traitors, knowing full well the threat to all thinking and warm blooded life these enemies represent, not only refuse to assist, but actively sabotage your efforts because they don't want to fight the enemy. They just want to live and let live - KNOWING the enemy will not allow that.

The githyanki justification for the genocide of the githzerai is that the githzerai are willfully choosing to sacrifice all warm blooded life on the altar of supposed non-aggression with the illithids.

Mind you, this is from the githyanki point of view.
>>
>>1678916
Isn't the Githzerai view something about the Githyanki being massive hypocrites and perpetuating comporable amounts of suffering as the Illithids do for reasons that are only tangential to fighting Illithids?
>>
>>1679716
That viewpoint contains spoilers for this game, sorry.
>>
>>1680203
No problem, I didn't know that would be a big plot element.
