/qst/ - Quests

You remember a day, a long time ago now, when you decided what you were going to become. You were far too young and inexperienced to make decisions like that, or at least that’s what the surrounding adults would’ve said if you had actually talked about your decision out loud. They didn’t feel what you felt, though, and if they had, they’d long forgotten about it. It was only natural they’d try to dissuade you from becoming a hero. They’d tell you that heroics don’t pay bills or put food on the table, that you’d grow up with responsibilities that forced you to abandon that dream. They’d say that, thinking you were talking about becoming a superhero or a Huntsman, but that wasn’t it.

It was a feeling you felt on that day, as you stood over your twin in the aftermath of some failure she had just gone through. You don’t remember what had upset her, or what you did to make her feel better about it, but you remember that smile. It tore through a torrent of tears to shine like the dawn, bright and bubbly and laughing despite the pain she had gone through. That’s what made you feel like a hero. And all it took was making her feel better. So, you didn’t say anything. You didn’t ask the people who raised you how they became heroic Huntsmen, because it was obvious to you how they did it. They just made people feel better. They made you feel better all the time, didn’t they? Then that was all you had to do. Make people feel better, make them feel safer.

Even with dreams as pure as that, however, something must get in the way. No plan survives contact with etcetera. Sometimes you failed and made things worse. Sometimes you couldn’t even begin to help until it was too late. Sometimes you just got your ass kicked, and sometimes someone else would come along and dump all their problems on your lap for you to solve. Then you’d have a mountain to climb, all the while painfully aware of how it was someone else’s burden. You hated that. Some people could be so thick headed. Not that you were naming any names, of course. You wouldn’t dare imply your sweet, lovable, twin sister...

In many ways, the concert had gone well. The music was lovely, the decor was well chosen, and everyone appreciated the Schnees for providing it all. In other ways, the venture was less than perfect. All those grateful socialites, escaping their static lives into the waiting arms of your family’s hospitality, had gotten a perfectly clear view of your father’s dirty laundry: His children fleeing the house like a family of drowning rats.

Weiss’s voice was powerful and sharp, a perfect weapon to deliver the lyrics she had specifically chosen to twist the knife into your father. That’s not even beginning to talk about her taking the stage in her combat gear, excluding her sword. Even Weiss couldn’t swing going on stage with Myrtenaster at her hip. You almost believed the ladies in front of you when they claimed they would faint at the scandal of it all. A small part of you delighted in the opportunity to make these foppish sycophants who hovered around your family like parasitic wasps squirm. Still, this was just going to make things painful. Weiss hadn’t even discussed her plan to tweak father’s nose with you, the least she could’ve done considering you’d undoubtedly be caught in the crossfire. The applause begins to die down, mercifully sparing you from developing any more of a headache than is already threatening to pound its way through your forehead. You stand with the rest of the audience and are quickly washed away by a sea of bodies.

You sweep through the crowd towards the backstage entrance, not even bothering to stop and flash your pass at the security. They know who you were. Backstage is crowded with musicians, but they part to clear a path for you. You'd have to remember to thank them for their hushed tones, because without them you doubt you would have heard your sibling’s voices threatening to tear the door to her dressing room off its hinges.

“What on earth were you THINKING!? You embarrassed father, you embarrassed all of us!” That'd be Whitley. Weiss was always quick to counter, however.

“What I was thinking was that I'd show these people exactly where father can shove-”

Both of them fall silent at your polite cough. Now… How best to handle this?

>A) Be diplomatic, yet caustic. “I think the two of you should be proud. You're causing a bigger scene together than if we had put Kleid on stage during one of his moods.”
>B) Favour Weiss. “I don't think anyone would be surprised by father's loose grip after Winter, Whitley. She’s a Huntress in training. It’s part of her identity now.”
>C) Favour Whitley. “He has a point, Weiss. Our career at Beacon would go much smoother if you’d stop antagonizing father.”
>D) True Diplomacy. “This is hardly a controversy. Weiss and I are on our way to becoming Huntsmen, everyone knows that. Embracing that 'Protector' image publically could be a bold step made to work for us.”

Moments like this made you miss Winter. At least back then it wasn’t entirely your responsibility to keep them from killing each other. You open your arms in what you hope to be a calming gesture, put on an amused smile, and say “This is hardly a controversy.”

“WHAT?!” You didn’t expect both of them to yell at you for that. Whitley looks incensed that you would downplay it, while Weiss seems offended, as if you were implying she hadn’t gone far enough. Looks like you’ll have to sell it to them.

“Weiss and I are on our way to becoming Huntsmen, everyone knows that. Embracing that ‘Protector’ image publically could be a bold step made to work for us.” They both take a moment to think about your words, giving you a chance to gauge their reactions.

Whitley has become quite the stone wall since he became an official teenager. You can’t tell precisely what he’s thinking, but that fact his anger has stalled enough for him to control his emotions again is a good sign. In this situation, at least.

Weiss, contrarily, has always been an open book to you. She’s gently sucking in her cheeks as if she had bitten into a lemon skin, probably bitter about not causing as much of a stir as she intended. Even so, your twin knows the value of a good image, and a devious gleam in her eyes seems to show she considers it an acceptable consolation prize.

You dare to relax a bit as the tension drains out of the room. Whitley breaks the silence first. “You have a point,” he concedes with a nod. A feeling of self-satisfaction rises in your chest as he composes himself and exits the room. The feeling wavers a bit when he stops in the doorway and shatters completely with his parting remark.

“It was still reckless and stupid.” He’s grinning as he slams the door shut, only barely managing to stop the clipboard Weiss had chucked at him. What a little shit. Weiss would probably have gone after him, had you not been there, but with your opinion on inter-sibling warfare made clear, the fight visibly leaves her and she collapses into the flimsy chair she was provided. The issues between the two of them were certainly not dead and buried, but at least you managed to avoid them for the moment. There were other issues that needed your attention, and Weiss was at the center of most of them. What to deal with first?

>A) Your father. “You realize I’m the one who’s going to have to patch this up with father, right?”
>B) Your upcoming move to Beacon. “Hold on for a few more days. Then we can sign the dotted line and be in Vale before we drop our pens.”
>C) On second thought, her and Whitley. “Do you remember when the two of you could actually get along?”

Needs to have something with dust, we are a scene after all. Since Weiss seems to be more of a spell sword with her rapier might I suggest we work out as her knight? Something defensive like a staff that can channel different dust and depending on the type can be used to attach different blade or weapon types. Example is base line is the staff, with ice dust it can become a scythe, halberd or other bladed weapon, with earth dust it would gain a mace like quality to hit extra hard and for fire it could wind up being a wizard staff to shoot bolts of flame at things. Lighting and wind might be a bit harder as I can't see them being used as a weapon unless it's to deny enemies an approach or something like a fellow wizard
>>
>>1671139
Balls and chain that can spread dust that we make attack in a certain way?
>>
>>1671113
It's a massive dildo.
Are you happy now?
Just have a sword hilt and use Dust to change the blade as needed. Job done.
>>
>>1671113
Well, both his sisters have classical duelist weapons, so it should be something that's also typically used in duels.
>>
>>1671147
Is that for the wind and Lightning dust? Wind could work for the whole need of centering the dust into a construct through sending out tornados would be cool too
>>
>>1671139
I was thinking something more of a duelist weapon

When did you become such an old man? You’re backstage at a concert. There’s no better place for people your age to unwind a bit. You grab an equally unsteady chair and take a seat next to Weiss. With no imminent conversation, the two of you end up staring at nothing in a comfortable silence. You smile a bit when you notice you’re both looking into her mirror. Quadruplets.

“You did great.” It feels good to say something with no greater purpose. Your words had become far too heavy lately. Weiss mirrors your smile, an honest and open one. She straightens a bit, adopting a teasing persona of herself before saying, “Of course I did. Did you, of all people, honestly expect anything less than perfection from Weiss Schnee?”

Seeing her nearly break her neck to turn her nose up at you sends you into a fit of chuckles, and she follows suit. The two of you giggle for a few moments before her scrolls chimes. She’s smiling when she picks it up and, to your relief, doesn’t begin scowling when she finishes reading her message. Instead, she lets out a small sigh and stands up to collect her things. “My staff is getting antsy. We were supposed to have left by now.”

Ah, the nameless collection of bodyguards and waiters that followed every Schnee like a pleasant smell. Your own staff was probably beginning to wonder where you are. The reminder that each of you HAD a separate staff sent a wave of melancholy through you. You doubted many other families had their people call other people to schedule appointments. Most of them probably settled it over dinner. God, you and your siblings had come here in separate convoys. Weiss made sense, she was the star of the night after all, but had the Schnees fallen so far apart that they were willing to blow thousands of Lien just to avoid an awkward car ride?

The dressing room door gently closing snapped you out of your dark reverie. Had she actually left you sitting in a dark room to brood to yourself? You couldn’t help but quietly laugh at the mental image of yourself as one of those rich comic book superheroes, drowning in their own wealth and angst. Where did you leave your black cape and utility belt?

You stand and stretch the stiffness out of your joints. These chairs were just awful. Perhaps you should make it up to your body with a night in your warm, comfortable bed. You snatch your own scroll from your pocket and let your driver know to swing around a side exit. He’d send the message on to the rest of them.

Your new driver, a man named Lionel, was confused by your request to circle around Atlas and go nowhere in particular. He didn’t hesitate to do it, of course, the man was a model employee, but you could see his brow creasing in the rear view mirror. It would be simple to make him understand, you doubt family issues are exclusive to your own, but you didn’t know him well enough to confide in him. The best he could do was to offer the constant therapeutic hum of an engine and assist you in delaying your return home for just a few more minutes.

Then that relaxing engine cut off, along with every light in the vehicle.

“Lionel…?”

He doesn’t answer you. His silhouette is bent over in his seat, shuffling as he fiddles with something you can’t see.

“Lionel, what’s happening?”

Again, there’s no response, but this time Lionel straightens up in his seat. Instead of his creased forehead, you spot the bone white plate of a Grimm-like mask. His voice is low and threatening when he spits at you, “I’m sorry, sir. It seems we’ll need to make an unavoidable stop.”

You grab the door handle and pull, but the bastard’s already locked the door. He turns slowly and reaches into his coat. This sick White Fang fuck is trying to draw it out your murder with a CHILD LOCK! The thought enrages you. You might have come up with a more elegant plan than busting open the car window and climbing over the broken glass had you been more calm, but the shout of genuine surprise from Lionel makes the minor scratches worth it. What’s your next move?

Actually, the more I think on it we could go for something different than the duelist weapons Winter and Weiss have. But if we do go for it I say let it be like the Rakuyo from Bloodborne:

Smaller blade can transform into a pepperbox, longer blade can transform into a lever-action rifle like a Henry or Winchester.

There was one failed RWBY quest where an anon came up with a great weapon idea. So I'll add in some mild changes.

By the time Lionel manages to get his pistol out of his jacket, you’re at the ready. The familiar weight of your polearm pulls the rest of your body into a state of readiness, and before your assassin can aim his gun, you’re already driving the pointed blade towards him. He’s saved by your forward momentum being redirected.

Another member of the White Fang had flipped over your strike and grabbed the handle just before impact, and she quickly scatters away, wary of your next attack. In the sudden silence, you can make out slow, deliberate footsteps all around you. White Fang thugs step out from behind boxes, walls, and the surrounding buildings.

At least Lionel hadn’t thought he could take you alone. Your single forward-facing blade was unsuited for more than one on one combat. Thankfully, you had the foresight to install a switch near your lower grip. A quick flick and the end blade split into perfect halves and slid further back along the shaft. Much better for swinging than thrusting, much better for many opponents. The soft click of the twin blades locking in place is enough to spur the White Fang into action, and you respond in kind.

The world becomes a swirling mess of bodies and metal. Only years of combat training keep you oriented in the tornado you become in a fight. The momentum of your spins drives your halberd on to bite into the White Fang’s aura. A few of the weaker member collapse from a single strike, but your enemies have paid you the compliment of bringing few weaklings.

Your swings are becoming more desperate by the moment and your arms are beginning to tire. There’s no way you can simply sweep them all away. You’ll have to get a little creative and create some distance simultaneously.

>A) Pierce the car’s Dust compartment, get away, then ignite it with a shot. (Separate Pepperbox Pistol)
>B) Launch yourself onto one of the buildings and use your height to take out the tougher ones, no doubt the leaders. (Infused Rifle in the Halberd)
>C) Get on the outside of the group and hit as many as you can at one time. (Infused Shotgun in the Halberd)
>D) Load one of your crystals and burn the group. (Dust Manipulation, ala Weiss’s Myrtenaster)
>E) Unfortunately, you can’t. Escape is your only option. (No Ranged Weapons)

It takes some fancy footwork to goad one of the bigger Faunus into just the right position, but once he’s there, you’re ready to take advantage of it. You had been slowing down, and making your enemies believe you were much more exhausted than you really were, but the trick was simply saving up your energy for one quick motion. You charge the big grunt and jump into a horizontal spin, swinging your halberd wide like a giant wagon wheel.

Unlike most times when you’d use the maneuver, however, you held your weapon in the reverse grip without turning your actions to match. The end result was delivering an absolutely bone shattering blow with the back end of your halberd, directly to the top of his head. The thug shouts in pain and leans forward to cover his head, just as planned.

You plant the halberd in the ground and pole vault onto his shoulders. The extra weight confuses him, and he raises quickly to reassess the situation. You jump in time with his jerking movement, and it’s just enough force to get you over the lip of the roofs around you, though you do have to pull your legs up in a spirited imitation of a long jump. You roll with the landing and heft your halberd against your shoulder before activating another small switch.

The blades retract to the underside of your staff, which shortens and reinforces the now hollow metal. A trigger mechanism deploys directly into your waiting finger, and without further hesitation you deliver a massive slug to the back of your former stepladder’s head.

It only takes a second to spot the rest of the larger ones, and a second each to drop them. In one fluid motion, you’ve flipped this fight around. The rest of the Fang scatters without direction, and a few parting shots into the fleeing crowd prevents any competent ones from rallying the mob.

You catch your breath when they disappear from sight, and jump back down into the isolated lot you had been taken into. You observe the unconscious bodies around you, out colded from their rapidly drained auras. You can’t see anyone who looks like Lionel, and it’s not a good idea to check under all their masks. Instead, you drop a quick call to the police, climb into the front seat of your wrecked car, and finally drive home.

((One more post and vote, then we're done for tonight.))
>>
>>1672152
Unlike most nights, Schnee manor is a welcome sight. The car sputters towards the garage, and not a minute after it’s off you stumble out of it. You wave off concerned mechanics in the garage, and then concerned servants in the house proper. All you can think of is that warm bed you promised yourself hours ago now. Unfortunately, one of your bodyguards is blocking the way into your room. “I’m sorry, sir. I’m sure you must be exhausted,” he explains, “But your father insisted you were to see him - and the rest of your family - in his study before you retired tonight.”

It takes more willpower than it should to keep from simply shoving him out of your way and going to bed. You hate the study. It’s where all the lectures happened, it’s where father kept you for hours after your schoolwork was done to teach you about running the business. You stumble towards the study all the same. When you reach it, you fine Kleid standing at his own rigid attention, a form of salute unique to those who served in the house rather than on the battlefield. He waves you in with a comforting smile that you desperately want to return. It’s just not in you to move your lips.

Inside, Weiss, Whitley, and father sit as stiffly as if they had frozen themselves to the back of the chairs. You stand in between your siblings, and just barely manage to look your father in the eyes.

“You had an altercation this evening?” You wouldn’t describe his voice as cold, exactly. Good, that meant he wasn’t angry. At least, not at you.

“I did, sir.” Always keep it short, sweet, and respectful.

“The police were involved?”

“Only after it was over, sir.” He nods. He was probably expecting that, just like you were expecting his next question.

“Was it the White Fang?” You can FEEL Whitley and Weiss tensing every muscle in their bodies beside you. Despite the situation, you smile to yourself. They were really worried about you.

“Yes sir.” He leans back in his chair and you notice the two ledgers on his desk. Security personnel and personal staff. Yours, specifically. Several formerly empty boxes are filled with fresh ink in the security ledger, while the only change to yours in a circle around one of the names. Lionel. You can’t help but wish his informants could work that fast BEFORE something happened.

“I trust you taught them exactly why a direct attack on you three has not been attempted before tonight?” You surprise yourself by openly grinning at your father. His eyes widen a bit and he gives you a minuscule smile in return.

“Yes sir.” After that, the three of you are dismissed and you’re finally allowed to sleep. Before you can even reach your door, Kleid’s voice calls your name.

“Sir! Terribly sorry, but these arrived for yourself and Miss Weiss soon after you left for the concert. If you sign now, I can have them at Beacon this time tomorrow.” You look down at the paper Kleid is handing you. You spot the words “Beacon Academy” at the top and a scrawling signature which may, with some interpretation, read “Ozpin” at the bottom. You grab the paper and one of Kleid’s pens, pin the contract to the wall, and sign...

The next few days were mercifully uneventful. You and Weiss spent most of your time remembering things to pack, while Whitley alternated between amiable conversations with you about politics or how hilarious another family’s missteps had been and having passive aggressive arguments with Weiss whenever you weren’t around. Your parents continued their relentless seclusion, your father in the study and your mother in her quarters. It was almost exactly as it had been since Winter left. Not that you blamed her in any way. How could you, when you and Weiss were going to follow her example?

The day you left Atlas was not filled with tears or well wishing. Your father and Whitley stood on the boarding platform as if they had been sculpted from marble there. The most searing moment of emotion was when father gave you a stiff handshake, which lead to a much more volatile emotional moment on the airship as Weiss complained about being ignored. Thankfully, she kept it in the hallway between your private cabins, out of sight from the other passengers.

“I cannot BELIEVE him!” You know, that was far beyond the third time she had said it.

“What’s wrong with me?! What do YOU have that I don’t?! We’re TWINS!” She’s glaring through you, probably imaging father’s head on your shoulders. You decide against pointing out the, uh, obvious trait you have which she lacks, but Weiss isn’t going to spare your rapidly retreating comfort.

“Winter decides to become a Specialist, and he puts her through that stupid quasi-boot camp! I decide to become a Huntress, he makes me fight that dumb statue! But Whitaker wants to go to the SAME school and do the SAME thing, and he gets a pat on the back and a packed lunch!” You can’t hold back from rolling your eyes at her and saying, “It wasn’t that simple and you know it. Father's not... Progressive, by any means, but he wasn't thrilled about any of us leaving.” Honestly, the way she overreacts. It’s as if she speaks entirely through hyperbole. She puffs up to yell something at you, but visibly bites her tongue and storms into her cabin instead. You aren’t sure if she’s mad at you or just the situation, but either way is going to be unpleasant. You’re on this ship for a few days, at least.

It isn’t all bad, you suppose. With nothing to do but be carried to your next set of responsibilities, you have time to entertain yourself. What will you do?

>A) This airship has an open air upper deck. Take in the sights.
>B) You remember someone talking about a small get together in the cafeteria. Galley? What is it called on an airship? Either way, it’s a chance to mingle.

You stare at Weiss’s door for a moment, but shake your head. She needs some alone time, and come to think of it, so do you. That sounds wonderful. A nice, relaxing day that doesn’t end with your potential murder in a dark alley. With that in mind, you find the stairwell and march up to the top deck. The open air is clear of any signs of life, save yourself. Most of the passengers are probably at that little get-together. You breathe deep, savoring the flavor of the rushing wind, and walk to the edge. You lean against the banister and spend some time considering Beacon. The twelve-year-old inside you comes alive with excitement at how cool this is going to be. Tournaments, combat classes, new friends, enemies that want to embarrass you instead of kill you, and above all three companions that will have your back for four years, maybe more.

Weiss is your natural first choice, but you’re not sure. Wasn’t the entire point of teaming up students learning to work together with everyone, not just their friends or family? That’s what General Ironwood had said when you had asked him during one of his visits to your father. Then again, having a team stick together after graduating had almost always produced some of the most effective Huntsmen and Huntresses in the world. If you want to guarantee no one would strangle each other in the dorm room and that you’d all be able to stomach looking at one another after the graduation ceremony, joining forces with people you already know is a safer bet. Did you want that, a second family in your classmates? It’s a question that, no matter the answer, would take years to carry to a conclusion. Probably best to bench it for a little while longer.

With your wandering mind calming somewhat after gently forcing yourself to watch the world below, you find yourself hypnotized by the rolling waves below you. You turn your head towards Vale and see nothing but ocean. Nothing but water in every direction for miles around. On a logical level, of course, there’s nothing but water. You’d see a map before. Still, the enormity of the ocean is impressive, and a little intimidating. Maybe best to stop leaning over it and tempting fate.

Just as you step away from the ornate railing, you hear two simultaneous noises of surprise: One, a delighted and optimistic gasp. The other, a weary and disappointed groan. You turn towards the noise and see two girls standing on the last few steps of the stair well. One is pale, with bright red, nearly orange hair and an outfit that meshed metallic grays and neon greens. The other was dark skinned, wearing the uniform of an Atlesian cadet. The orange haired one was grinning at you with a force that made you almost physically step backward, and the cadet was glaring at you the same way Weiss had only minutes ago. What was her problem?

The standoff broke when the ginger girl charged towards you with the same speed and force you’d expect from a fight. Your hand could barely twitch towards your concealed weapon before she was directly in front of you, somehow ramrod straight and extending a hand.

“Salutations! My name is Penny!” You look back and forth between her hand and her face. How the hell had she moved that quickly? Her grin started to waver a bit with your hesitance, and you instinctively pried one of your hands off of the railing - how had that gotten there? - and shook hers. Your voice shakes a bit when you reply.

“Whitaker…”

Gay.
Should have picked a rifle with a bayonet attachment and called it a Gunblade even though the weapon doesn't transform like the rest and you have to manually ready the knife, the true patrician weapon sure to trigger all the Remnant weapon autists
>Rifle for all your ranged needs.
>Knife attachment to turn said rifle into a short polearm perfect for fencing.

We could have had someone with a different style, but still keep in tone with the Schnee fencing ways.

We couldn't have her in our team anyway. Our character is enrolling at Beacon, just like Weiss. Presumably, our team will be cobbled together from the other Beacon first years, which I guess that means RWBY, JNPR and CRDL.

So, we'll assimilate into an established team and take someone's place? That's fine.
>>1674801
It's gonna fuck up team names though, none of them would mean anything with a W in them, not that they mean anything as they are really, I always found the team initials having a meaning to be kinda dumb how does RWBY, JNPR and CRDL translate into Ruby, Juniper and Cardinal respectively without some stretching is beyond me.
Though I kinda want to be CRDL's new team leader and play Whitaker like a young commanding officer as befitting the Schnee pedigree, complete with dashing uniform and hat, and make the team more than just high school bullies for Jaune, but then that means no rooming with waifus, only dudes...
>>1674817
We're the twin of an established main character, I think we all know QM is playing fast and loose with it.

“... Schnee. A pleasure to meet you.” Penny’s smile widens even more. It’s almost inhuman how many teeth she can show at once. Surprisingly, neither of them seem to react to your admission of being a member of Atlas’s number one family. Well, maybe it isn’t THAT surprising. The airship is coming from Atlas, after all, you doubt they would’ve missed you and Weiss boarding. No one else had.

The cadet stepped forward, thankfully at a much more reasonable pace, and coughs towards the strange girl who still hadn’t let go of your hand. Penny gets the wrong message and uses her free arm to pull the cadet into a side hug before introducing her as well. “This is Ciel! We are best friends, but we haven’t been for very long. We will get better, though!”

You tug your hand out of Penny’s grip and nod towards Ciel. She favors ignoring you instead and tries to squirm out of her “best friend’s” arm. Penny must be stronger than she looks to hold a cadet like that one handed. “Time and experience often lead into each other, but I wouldn’t say they’re the same thing.”

Her entire head morphs with confusion. It’s uncanny. You can see her neck tilt, brow raise, and smile slide into a more doubtful expression. Perfectly natural had they not happened in exactly that order under half a second, clicking into place like the shifting parts of your halberd. If you had blinked, you wouldn’t have seen it. What is with her? Just a quick, the actions reverse and it’s as though she never moved.

“Oh, I understand! You are saying that despite our short time together, it is obvious that we are friends! Thank you!” That wasn’t what you meant at all, but you’re rapidly becoming uncomfortable around her. You put on a winning smile and nod at her conclusion.

“Exactly! I would’ve guessed the two of you were friends simply seeing you walk around the ship together. Speaking of friends, however, it appears I’m running a bit late for an appointment with my own.” You pull your scroll out and mime looking at the time. You haven’t even read the first digit before you slam it back into your pocket and stroll past the two.

“It was wonderful to meet you, very sorry I had to cut it short!” She’s still grinning and waving at you as she shouts across the deck (despite you only being a few feet away), “It is entirely forgiven! Have fun!”

You flash another smile and dash below deck. Whew. That went well, but it was unpleasant. Shame, she DID seem nice, but manners and enthusiasm don’t make up for… Whatever that was. At least it’s over. You fish out your scroll to actually check the time and see it’s late. That little party you heard about is probably over by now. What to do now?

>A) Visit Weiss. She’s probably calmed down by now. At least, you hope.

The halls to your cabin are empty, as is the hall between your room and Weiss’s. When you step up to her door, you take a deep breath and hope giving her some space was the right call. A soft knock signals your arrival, but there’s no answer. You knock again.

“Weiss? It’s Whitaker.” This time her voice answers you, “Of course it is! Who else is going to walk through here?” You can make out a scoff and some shuffling before the door unlocks and Weiss opens the door.

“Come in.” You take the invitation as well as a seat in one of the armchairs provided with the room. Weiss takes the other and, once again, you can see exactly how tired your sister is. She closes her eyes as soon as her head touches the cushion, and it’s a few seconds before she says anything.

“Why is he like this?” It’s as if your conversation had never stopped. You shrug and answer honestly, “If I knew the reason, Weiss, I’d have done something about it.” She rolls her eyes at you this time.

“It’s not exactly an ancient unsolvable mystery. You’re a guy and I’m a girl. You’re the favorite and I have to fight for the privilege of following in your footsteps. You aren’t that stupid, I know you can add two and two together.”

“But it can’t be that simple. Lots of fathers have this same issue, and the worst it comes to are arguments at the dinner table, not gladiatorial combat in the family arena.” You wave a hand as if you’re physically throwing your point at her. Weiss seems receptive to the idea, but she’s still skeptical. “Maybe he’s just crazy on top of it.”

Your head drops a bit. That had occurred to you once or twice. Maybe the reason none of your family could stand anyone but you was because they were all actually insane. Maybe you were too, and just the right kind to get along with them. It had happened to plenty of families with the type of power yours could bring to bear, why not the Schnees? You run a hand through your hair, trying to brush the uncomfortable thought out of your head. If grandfather could see you all now…

Weiss has seemingly depressed herself as well. She sighs at your state and asks, just barely loud enough for you to hear, “What are we going to do?”

>A) “Put our family back together again.” You don’t know WHERE it went wrong, but you’d be damned if you were going to let it stay that way.
>B) “Keeps each other safe.” You and Weiss had always had each other’s backs. When your family’s tensions bubble over, you know you won’t let each other down.
>C) “We need to do something about father.” He’s the problem behind everything. Your tensions with Weiss, her tensions with Whitley, and your mother’s distance are all his fault!
>D) “Doesn’t seem like there’s anything we can do.” All the money in the world, but at the end of the day, the Schnees are a family. Sometimes families just fall apart. Sometimes it's better that way.

That was a good question. With three of the Schnee children seeking a place in the world, and with father clearly disapproving, things between the family are going to get bad at some point. How bad is in question, but it’s coming. “Keep each other safe,” you answer. It’s all you can do at Beacon, with all the threats you’ll face over the years to come. By the time you return to Atlas, you and Weiss will have had only each other for years.

Weiss smiles at your answer. “We always have, we always will.” The two of you chat about less important things. What you planned to do once you landed, and what it’d be like at Beacon. That inevitably brings up the conversation of teams. “You had better pick me as your partner, Whitaker,” she says, pretending to preemptively scold you before your inevitable betrayal. You laugh a little before humming in contemplation, “I’m not so sure I will. I met these lovely girls on the deck earlier, they seem about the right age to apply to Beacon.” Weiss makes a gagging sound at the idea of you actually getting a girlfriend of any kind, but something else occurs to her. “Maybe we should think about spreading our natural talent over several groups, rather than keep to the same team. We could have our own army!” You both laugh at the ideas you toss back and forth for ordering your imaginary soldiers around.

Eventually, the conversations die a natural death. Weiss stands up and opens the door. “Well, I feel a little better now. Get out before someone starts spreading creepy rumors.” You shove her gently on your way out. That was gross. Not that you hadn’t heard it all before, but from Weiss? She must have been in a good mood if she was willing to make jokes like that.

The cabin assigned to you is, like, Weiss’s, remarkably similar to a log cabin, with false wood covering the metal that held the ship together. You even had an artificial fire place, but you ignore it for now. You climb into your bed and switch the lamps off, and soon after, you fall asleep.

The rest of the trip was fun. You and Weiss busied yourselves with a few more of those parties that you missed, but no one important stuck out in your mind. You had a few more run ins with Penny and Ciel, but thankfully you managed to slip away before you could ruin their first impression of you.

If you see any more of Penny, you just know you won’t be able to stop yourself from revealing how creepy she was to you, and you only wanted to avoid the girl, not hurt her feelings.

The landing was surprising to you. Without the constant swaying of the airship beneath you, you and Weiss kept stumbling as you made your way to the hotel where you’d be staying the night. You had heard of “skylegs” and “sealegs,” but walking around when you took off from Altas had been so easy you had begun to doubt their validity. In any case, the trip to the hotel passed without major incident and signing in was as simple as walking in and being recognized. With both of your sets of luggage being carried to your rooms and Weiss prematurely retiring for the evening to settle her stomach, you found yourself with nothing to do but wait for tomorrow, when the Schnee twins would finally make their way to Beacon and join the ranks of the Huntsmen.

How are you going to occupy yourself?

There’s not as many dust shops as you’d like. It makes sense, at least, Vale isn’t as Dust dependent as Atlas. That’s little comfort when you’re staring at the hole in the wall shop with a busted window, only covered by a thick fabric to keep glass - and the cold - out of the store. This… Place is the only dust shop open anywhere near the hotel, and you are NOT going to spend hours walking to the other side of the city for the next closest one. You sigh, stand up straight, a walk into the admittedly well branded “From Dust Till Dawn.”

The old man behind the counter runs late, especially for a place with a recent break in, but he seems happy enough to be there. He’s even whistling a tune to himself. You think you heard it on the radio, once. When you squat in front of the counter and check out the displays, however, the whistling stops with a strangled note. You stand up, and see the old man is on the ground and staring at you as if you were a ghost come to claim him. Sure, you’re pale, but you aren’t THAT pale!

“Don’t hurt me! You can take whatever you want!” Oh, great. You should straighten this out before he called the police or something.

(CONTINUED)
>>
>>1675547
“Sir, I’m here to buy some things. I’m not going to rob you.” He crawls over to the counter and lifts himself so that his nose just barely poked over it.

“You’re not? But you’re-” He stops, and for some reason stares just above your face as intently as his old eyes would allow. “Oh! Forgive me, young man,” he exclaims, finally standing up and brushing off his pants, “The last man to walk in with a white coat that fancy tried to rob me blind!” You’d argue if he was identifying people from their clothes, he was probably already halfway to blind, but you wouldn’t say that out loud.

Tried to rob you?” You would say THAT out loud. The man’s window was busted and he dove for cover at the mere thought of this guy coming back. There’s no way he fought him off, and you doubted the police in Vale were quick enough to stop a smash and grab before a thug could get to the actual “grab” part. If he’s offended, he doesn’t show it. He simply nods and begins explaining what happened.

“The fella came walking in, sure as can be. Course he was sure, he had fifty guys with him!” Maybe five, you automatically correct in your head. “One of his boys tried to pick on a little lady in the back, and hoo, you shoulda seen ‘er! Tackled a man three times her size, right out that window! The cape she had on, big red thing looked liable to swallow ‘er whole, blowin’ behind her made her look like a little rocket!”, he shouts, wildly gesturing to the hole you noticed earlier.

“She smacks ‘em all, o’ course, with that fancy scythe o’ hers, and ran after that fella in the coat! I don’t suppose she caught ‘im, though. Saw ‘im on the news this mornin’. They were sayin’ he’s ‘At Large,’ but I don’t know about that. He was a scrawny fella.”

You hum to pretend you were paying attention. While he told his story, you managed to pick out some things. You were working on a budget, though. The wealthy never kept their fortune by spending it all. It would be NICE to have all this stuff for initiation, but you’d have to dig into the “Shared Fund” for it if you wanted to save a comfortable amount for yourself, and you weren’t going to listen to Weiss complain about your spending habits.

Yeah, Gotta admit, this was a poor idea. I'm kinda beta testing a few ideas for questions to make them more versitile. Oh well, at least this wasn't a "Who are you going to leave behind to die?" question. Sorry guys, still my first quest.

At the very least, you managed to capture the feeling of shopping, while struggling to make a concession.

Ah, Weiss could suck it up. It was a “Shared” fund after all. You pay for all of them and leave the store with a heavy bag and a slightly less heavy feeling of dread. Weiss was going to tease you for DAYS for dipping into that cash already. Well, she’d probably end up boring this stuff anyway, so it the grand scheme of things it wasn’t that important. Your walk back to the hotel is calm. Vale seemed to be much safer after dark than Atlas was, despite the recent break ins being touted about on the news. It takes a few more minutes to walk through the lobby and up to your room. You check the clock and smile to yourself. You made pretty good time! Maybe you can catch a movie before bed.

The next thing you feel is your belt buckle hitting you in the stomach. You blink sleep out of your eyes and see Weiss’s blurry form standing in your room. Why is she cover her eyes?

“Put your pants on and let’s GO! We’re going to be LATE!” Oh, yeah. She storms out as you pull on your clothes. Your shirt puts your nose right next to your armpit as you pull it over your head. Ugh, you smell terrible, but no time for a shower, it seems. You slap on some deodorant and wash your hair in the sink. When you’re finished, you don’t exactly look like a million Lien, but it’s better than showing up naked, so it’ll have to do.

You meet Weiss tapping her foot on the floor outside your room, and the two of you dash with your luggage to the airship that will carry you up the cliff face to the Academy itself. Despite everything, you’re actually early. Not that it consoles Weiss, who considers “Right on Time” to be “Disastrously Late,” so by her count you made the two of you miss your appointment by half an hour. Other students begin to pour into the ship, and most avoid you. You aren’t sure whether they recognize you and get intimidated, or if they don’t and don’t want to sit by strangers. It’s probably a mixed bag if you’re honest with yourself.

When the ship finally takes off, it’s with a sudden jerk. Much less pleasant than the Atlas ship’s take off. You might be imagining it, but you feel like this one is swaying a bit more, too. Maybe it’s just windy today. Best not to think about it, so you close your eyes and try to get some more sleep.

You and Weiss are prepared to let the trip pass by in silence, but that hope is dashed when someone throws themselves into the seat beside you. You open your eyes and another pair, these bright green, take up the whole of your vision. You jump, which makes your assailant step back and wakes up Weiss, who had begun drifting off herself. Standing in front of you is Penny, and in the seat beside you is Ciel.

“Salutations, Whitaker!”

You pull the biggest grin you can manage and throw your arms wide. “Penny!” She’s once again delighted by your enthusiasm and seems to glow at the attention. It’s starting to hurt your eyes. You think about simply trying to hold the conversation, but you’re at your limit with Penny’s weirdness. If you have to sit and talk to her, you’ll break, and making a girl cry on the first day may be the single worst way to start your life as a Huntsman. You listen to your instincts, hoping for any way out of this situation, and they provide: Push it on your Weiss.

“Hey, have you met my sister?” Penny does her weird “confused” thing again and Weiss looks at you with a raised brow. “No,” she answers after resetting her weird face, “I have only seen you with her when we were on the airship to Vale. I have never personally spoken with her.” You grab the lifeline you’d been given with both metaphorical hands and rocket out of your chair. You slip an arm over Penny’s shoulders and lead her to your sister’s empty side.

“Well, isn’t this a perfect opportunity! You guys would get along great, and there’s a seat open right next to her!” Penny stares at your hand resting on her shoulder, and Weiss takes the opportunity of not being observed to give you a questioning look. You respond with what you hope is a pleading expression, but given Weiss’s wide-eyed expression, it may have come off as panicked.

The exchange between siblings happens in an instant, which is good, because at the end of that instant Penny turns to look at her new conversation partner. Weiss puts on a winning smile, and Penny needs no further encouragement to sit down.

You do your best to hold in a relieved sigh as you sit down, but you must have failed to pull it off because Ciel is fixing you with a glare that promised horrible things to come when she could get you alone.

“What?” you ask, feigning ignorance. She stops staring at you and stares straight ahead instead as if General Ironwood himself were strutting down the hallway you were seated in. She mutters, loud enough to be heard but enough to be covered by Penny and Weiss’s conversation, “You don’t have to be so cruel to her.”

You weren’t being cruel, were you? You were trying to NOT be cruel! It’s not your fault she freaks you out.

The awkward ride finally comes to a blessed end. You and Weiss are grabbing your luggage when she grabs your arm. When you meet her gaze, you’re reminded of the time you broke open every pen in the house just to have enough ink to pour over her hair while she slept. You thought it would be funny. It wasn’t. “Do. Not. EVER. Leave me with that girl again,” she threatens. But if she was so averse to being around her, then did that mean...

“You saw it too?” Weiss seems confused for a moment before replying, “Saw what? I heard exactly why you didn’t want to talk with her.” You’re about to ask how Penny had figured out your aversion, but before the question can leave your lips, Weiss is already clarifying.

“She wouldn’t shut UP! Going on and on about how much fun she and her bestie were having and the difference best a bestie and a best friend! It felt like I was trapped in some sort of pre-school nightmare where all the children had been stretched to be five feet tall!”

Well, she hadn’t picked up on what you had. Which was… Weird. Weiss was usually pretty perceptive. You promise her it won’t happen again and the two of you pull the cart loaded with your stuff out onto the grounds of Beacon. It feels like it’s been weeks since you left Atlas, but the view makes it all worth it. Towering spirals over marvels of engineering, with perfectly maintained grounds and the whole thing overlooking the perfectly blue water. It’s like something out of a painting.

The magic is ruined when someone runs into Weiss’s cart. Two “oofs,” one infinitely more high pitched than the other, sound off and are followed by a clattering of cases. You see the offender on the ground, a small girl - a VERY small girl, how young was she? - in red and Weiss standing over her, swiftly putting on her “I’ve just about had it” face. She’s already been through a lot today thanks to you, and it seems like this girl’s going to get the brunt of it for an honest mistake. What should you do?

>A) Avert the public crisis, guarantee a private one. “Weiss, leave it! We’ve gotta get a move on if we’re going to get this stuff packed up in time for orientation!”
>B) Take the bullet later, save the innocent now. “I’m Whitaker. I see you’ve already met my sister?”

You move between Weiss and her clumsy victim, an intentional move Weiss hasn’t failed to recognize if her growling at your back is any indication. You ignore it and offer your hand to the girl with a small, apologetic smile, “Hey, sorry about that. I’m Whitaker.”

She takes it and returns the smile. “Ruby,” she says as you heft her onto her feet. You think you might have had more trouble lifting one of Weiss’s suitcases this morning. You had even used both hands for that thing, too. Ruby’s nervous smile vanishes as soon as she stops looking at you and sees Weiss, who’s only just managing to avoid gnashing her teeth at the two of you.

“I see you’ve already met my sister?” Your joke doesn’t do much to break the tension, but it does get Ruby to chuckle nervously. She, wisely, doesn’t break eye contact with Weiss as she begins to step away. “Uh, yeah, I guess you could say thatsorrygottago-” She’s off like a shot from a canon. You’d never seen someone move that fast! Must be her semblance. Man, with that cape trailing behind her, she almost looks like a living rocket! Wait, where had you-

“Excuse me? I think this may belong to you.” You both turn to the new voice. A girl with striking amber eyes and dressed in black was holding out a container filled with raw dust. The Schnee family symbol was a dead giveaway who it belonged to, and you take it with a smile.

“Thanks, uh-”

“Whitaker Schnee.” What? “No, that’s my name,” you clarify, momentarily confused why this girl was claiming to be you. She narrows her eyes at you, and for just a moment you feel like a mouse cornered by a cat.

“I know. I also know that your company is under intense scrutiny for its unethical labor practices.” Who the hell… Where does she get off?!

“In case you can’t tell, I’m not 45 years old and my name is ‘Jacques.’ I don’t HAVE a company, my father does. Any complaints you have with them, you can take to him.” Wow, that came out of nowhere. Guess you were having a stressful day too, but your stress had a point.

“But you’ll still live off of all that company’s profits.” Weiss is hyperventilating behind you. She’s well past her boiling point now. Suddenly it hits you the exact situation you’re in, standing between two pissed off young women who had both been accepted into an Academy for warriors. How are you going to get out of this one?

>A) Wash your hands of it. If they want to start a fight in the plaza, no skin off your nose.

I am the Gatekeeper. No incest shall breach my walls. These lands are made for the chosen Good Brothers who protect their imouto.

Technically, there's nothing wrong with joking and shitposting about it. We know it'll never happen, so just have some fun with it. Not going to bother BrotherQM to change it at all, so really, just have a few laughs and go with.

Though, I won't deny there is something with in me wanting to do a small pastebin about this stuff. Probably nothing smutty, only fluff.

You misinterpreted what I said, it was a statement demonstrating that I'd rather go for almost anyone except Blake.

I kinda want to go with D but that >Look, I understand that. It’s not fair

What's wrong about living off of company profits? Does she expect us to starve and live off the streets just because of some rumors? We're 17.
Also, if shit's so bad, why are the Faunus working then? We aren't running a slave labor force, they can choose not to take the job the same way we can choose to not take the company profits.

Same, actually. I was expecting the incest push. As long as no one gets belligerent about it, the incest jokes are actually pretty funny. In my opinion, at least.

Penny isn't on the Uncanny Valley though, she looks like a perfectly healthy human being

It's just how she acts which is weird af, I mean, we don't see any noticeable mechanical articulation on her jaw or limbs but she just doesn't know how to act/mimick a human
And she never will,

The air is so thick with tension you’re worried your knees will buckle. Students around you are stopping, though you aren’t sure if it’s due to what’s been said or if it’s just that obvious what’s about to happen. You mentally curse the idiots for beginning to form a circle around the three of you. You can see this girl’s eyes darting just enough to get a better view of the area behind you without letting either of you out of her sight. You’re too far on her side of the “arena” to get much benefit from the same plan. Instead, you focus on those bright eyes of hers.

It’s an effective means of intimidating someone weaker, but a staring contest before a fight is always a bad idea. One of your bodyguards explained it once. Don’t want dry eyes before you have to throw down. Not to mention, she’s definitely not weaker than you. Or at least, she doesn’t think she is. You doubt, if it came to it, she could actually take both the Schnee twins. But intimidation isn’t your objective. You’re staring right into her pupils because they were the most reflective thing you were close enough to see clearly on such short notice. You needed something like to see when-

NOW!

A flash of white appears in the pupil, and you spin on your heels to grab Weiss before she can do possibly the dumbest thing one can do when coming to a new place. Time slows down for you and you adjust your arms according to what your instincts tell you. If you get it just right, you should grab her by the waist. Luckily for you, you do.

Unluckily, Weiss was going much faster than you gave her credit for. The force of your turning and her charging drives your arm into her stomach as if you had delivered a running clothesline directly into her abdomen. You hear the breath leave her lungs and feel her fall too far forward over your arm. She spins over it and hits the pavement hard. She’s left to catch her breath on the pavement while you turn again to face the girl that Weiss was about to skewer. She’s jumped back and drawn her weapon, but her pose is completely relaxed and her mouth is hanging open. She’s staring right at you. It’s obvious that she wasn’t expecting you to try and stop anything. You kneel next to your sister and make sure her breathing is regular, which it is. At least you don’t need to take her to the nurse.

>A) Grab Weiss and go. This has become a complete disaster.
>B) Help Weiss up and support her weight, so you can walk away together. This has become a complete disaster.
>C) Demand the girl help carry her. “Hey, tall, dark and provocative! Maybe you could do something productive for a change?!” This has become a complete disaster.
>D) Load up Weiss’s luggage and wait for her to get up on her own. This has become a complete disaster.

You grab one of Weiss’s arms and sling it over your shoulder. She’s there enough to stand with you and walk, but you doubt she’d stand under her own power. You lead her towards the main building and ignore your luggage. No one would mess with it after what just happened, and your names were all over it. You could just come back for it all once Weiss was somewhere less volatile.

“You hit me…” She doesn’t sound angry or sad. She sounds confused.

“I didn’t mean to.” You try and stress the words, but she repeats herself.

“You hit me…” That time sounded more sure, but there was still no fire in it. She’s at the point where she understands, but doesn’t believe it.

“I’m sorry! It was an accident.” You feel a swell of emotion, but you don’t recognize what it is at the moment and swallow it. Better to focus on what you need to do than what you want to feel.

“I know… I really messed up, didn’t I?” She sounded so guilty. It made your heart squeeze a bit. You had to give her an out. “We both did. A lot more people than us did, too,” you explain. Penny, Ruby, and that girl didn’t HAVE to ruin her day, after all. “Everyone’s day just swirled together into a whirlpool of bad times and you got stuck at the bottom. Anyone could’ve been in your position.”

“Even you?” She looking out of the side of her eye at you, and you can tell, even from this angle, that’s she’s skeptical. What?

“What are you talking about? Of course ‘even me.’” Where had she gotten the idea that you were immune? Weiss laughs, once, and tells you “You’ve been calm and collected since we decided to come here... Before that, even… You’ve always thought about things and I always DID things. Back there, the airship to Vale, the concert, in school, at home… You always have to be reasonable. You never would’ve attacked that girl.”

Well… Yeah, you don’t think you would’ve. Might have wanted to, the thought did cross your mind, but there was nothing inside you that wanted to act on it. The two of you finally make it into Beacon properly, and you set Weiss down on a chair. You kneel next to her and say, “You stay here and catch your breath. I’m gonna grab our stuff.”

(CONTINUED)
>>

When I was in school people would pay each other money to slam staplers onto each other
>>
>>1676508
She nods at your instructions and you leave her, only slightly worried something will go wrong before you get back. The walk to your stuff is much faster without Weiss, and just as you suspected, no one had touched anything. It was all exactly as you had left it - strewn about the pavilion after Ruby crashed into it. You groan and begin to load everything back onto the cart. After setting the first one down, another set of hands grabs another case.

You trace them back to your owner and see Ruby, looking abashed as she practically toddles the massive case towards the cart. “Geez, what’s IN this thing?!” You don’t answer her question, but you do offer a small, “Hey.”

She sets her case down and tries to smile at you. She doesn’t manage it. “Hey,” she says, before she begins to push her index fingers together. “Look, my sister told me what happened… You guys wouldn’t have been there if I hadn’t knocked over your stuff. I just… Wanted to make it up to you.”

“My thoughts exactly.” The two of you turn to the third voice, and its owner - the black clothed girl - jumps at the attention before straightening again and looking at the ground. “You stopped things from getting a lot worse than they did. I didn’t… Expect that. I know I have no right to, but I owe you. I’d like to help, if you’d let me.”

>A) Accept them both. “Alright, we can all load the cart. But only if you tell me your name.”
>B) Accept Ruby’s help only. “You’ve done enough for one day. Ruby and I will take care of this.”
>C) Accept her help only. “Why don’t you go meet up with your sister, Ruby? We’ll clean up here.”

Seems that way. Weiss didn't catch it either, and she hasn't actually acted particularly unpleasant, so I've been assuming Whitaker can just sense something super off about her movements and behaviour and doesn't know that he's realised Penny isn't human, leading to the uncanny valley effect.

They got pulled out of class, sat down in a room with me and the pathologist, and told to explain themselves. They left me the fuck alone after that because they knew they would've been suspended or expelled very, very quickly. Otherwise, people tended to leave me alone because I was skinny but volatile and strong. You don't have any concept of how much adrenaline and nor-epinephrine a real autist can mainline.

>>

You’re a little embarrassed, if you're honest with yourself. “Look,” you explain, “It’s not just the two of you. I’ve been pushing her buttons since I woke up this morning. It got to her a lot more than I thought it did, I guess.”

They both visibly relax, but neither of them leave. You suppose they weren’t just looking for an excuse to have it not be there fault anymore. You clap your hands together and nod towards them, “Alright, we can all load the cart.” They both smile and pick up the closest case to them, but the girl in black is stopped by your hand holding hers down.

“But only if you tell me your name.” She smirks slightly at your condition.

“Blake.”

With that out of the way, you all load yours and Weiss’s belongings. It takes much less time than you thought it would’ve had you been working alone. You and Ruby pass some of the time talking about your sisters and their respective tempers, and laughing about what gets them going. You’re not sure you would’ve survived childhood if you had tried your pen trick on this “Yang,” and Ruby tells you as much. It the most serious you had seen her so far, and it made your stomach churn uncomfortably. She didn’t have the face for “serious.”

You push the cart towards Beacon, Ruby and Blake either side to keep it steady and prevent the cases from falling out again. As you shove, you can hear the beginning of Professor Ozpin’s introductory speech echo out from the building. It doesn’t sound very inspiring, so you don’t push yourself to go much faster.

You still reach the building before the halfway mark, and try to move your cart with the other students’ belongings as silently as you could. Blake and Ruby disappear into the crowd, and you find Weiss standing a few feet away from where you left her. Despite it all, the two of you share a private - and subdued, you are in public - celebration. You’ve finally made it to Beacon.

There are several Penny things. Are you asking "Why is Penny at Beacon?" or "Why is Penny so fucking weird?"
>>1676600
Well, it'll be happening next session. I'll be letting you guys make decisions that will inform your partner and the pair you end up with. Your team will be pretty easy to choose, and will consists of canon characters. All other teams will be randomly generated between sessions from the left overs (and then shuffled a bit more to what makes narrative sense), though CRDL will probably stick together. I wouldn't wish any of them on anyone but each other. So, essentially, it's open season.
>>1676601

To be honest with you, my inital mental image of the Brother was "r63 your twin, then beef him up." I kinda thought of you as Yatsu's height, and that probably would've stuck if you had chosen Blake or Yang. With Whitaker, however, I can't stop myself from seeing him as an older Whitley with a much more White>Blue color scheme and almost no smugness in his look. He carries himself either seriously or with confidence, but not smugness. But, again, that's just my mental image. You guys can think of him however you want.

Funny, I've been thinking white hair/colour scheme Ephraim ever since polearm was chosen as his weapon.
>>
>>1676609

I was thinking L-Elf from Valvrave myself.
>>
>>1676618
Thanks! Anyway, the answer to the first part of that question is BIT meta, but there's no way for you guys to find the answer in game. So I don't feel bad telling you.

With all of you choosing to play Whitaker as a diplomatic guy, that had a sort of "Dishonored" effect on the Schnee household. Things are still pretty bad, but they're a LOT better than they would be had you guys picked sides. With that in mind, and a slightly more relaxed Jacques, the SDC was more willing to take risks. They paid off, which meant a stronger economy for Atlas. With more money to through around, Dr. Poledina got his funding for Penny earlier. So, she's in Vale early, but her hardware isn't QUITE to the level her canon self. It's close, close enough to fool most people, but it isn't as perfect as the show.

As for the second part that >>1676620
is talking about, I'm afraid that's Spoiler Town USA.
>>
>>1676622
If only we picked a Saber as our weapon. Not that spears aren't also pretty cool.
>>
>>1676627

Sadly anon, I had business to take care of during that vote.

Not that would've made a difference.
>>
>>1676622
Is it just me or does he have ridiculously short arms?
>>
Okay, I don't want it to get lost in other conversations. Reply to this comment if you're free tomorrow, around 5pm Central/10pm UTC, and want me to run again. I'm a college student, boys, I got til late August before I have to actually do shit.
>>
>>1676636
I should be able to show up if you want to run
>>
>>1676637
>if you want to run
Nigger, I want to run NOW, but I'm falling asleep on my keyboard. It's 2am locally.
>>
>>1676638
IT IS 8:45 AM IN BONGLAND

Sleep is a fond memory that must be sadly discarded

Nah man go get some sleep, you did good, we can wait
>>
>>1676636
That's about 14 hours from now, right?
If you run it, I will come. Possibly slightly late, but I'll be here.
>>
>>1676640
I'll hang until 3, just to answer questions. Shit, /qst/ is fun.
>>
>>1676636
Hello~~~~~
>>
>>1676643
A lot of people rag on quest but I like that threads can stay open so long, If you're for sure going to run I'll show up, interesting quest so far.
>>
>>1676637
>>1676642
>>1676644
>>1676645
Works for me.
>>
>>1676645
The only real issue with /qst/ is activity, but twitter and the archive alleviate it.

Having threads that stay up for ages helps too. You can take it easy while running.
>>
>>1676635
That's because they're swept back.
>>
>>1676636
>literally when my class starts.

Kill me.
>>
oh fuk, we're at 505 replies. New thread for next session?
>>1676650
Where you been, faggot? We'll probably still be open by the time you get out.
>>
>>1676652

Yes but I hate missing choices. Especially since we're probably working on assembling a team next thread

Also yeah, we're probably going to need a new thread.
>>
>>1676657
Ah, don't worry about it too much Anon. I'm sure you guys will pick the perfect team. You guys could literally pick Juan, Ren, and Pyrrha and keep it interesting.

Should I post the roster I'll be pulling from? So you guys have something to debate? Or is that a bad idea? I'm sleep deprived at this point, ya'll, I have no idea if that's a good idea.
>>
>>1676661

Nah, just go to sleep man. Doing this IC will be more interesting, I'll see you tomorrow then.
>>
Alright, it's official 3 in the morning. I'm out for the night. Anyone who stumbles upon this thread tonight and wants to join, be here tomorrow, 7/18, at 10 pm UTC. That's when we'll begin. Don't worry if you can't come until later, though, because if these last two 9 hour sessions are anything to go by, you'll probably be able to catch it. Follow [https://twitter.com/brother_qm] for updates to the schedule, announcements of the next session, and (in the worst case scenario) surprise cancellations due to IRL.
>>
>>1676661
>Juan
Wait, we could be on a team with the audience insert's Mexican cousin?
Welp, know what I'm doing next thread.
>>
>>1676665
You can go to sleep, right now I think the only thing to argue about will be what our character is an expy of (if that comes up at all anyways) and who we'll waifu
>>
>>1676665
Sorry, wait, DON'T be here! Be in the catalog and find the new thread!
>>
>>1676671
Also, new IP because phone posting with 4G.
>>
>>1676671
If this is still up when you start the next thread (it probably will be), put a link to it here.
>>
>>1676675
Here to confirm that this was me. I'll be tripfagging from now on to avoid doing this shit, see this trip.
>>1676679
I will do that.
>>
>>1676636
Yooooo my day off is tomorrow
>>
Dang, I slept through the most interesting part. Still an interesting read, though. I enjoy that our being diplomatic had the knock-on effect of getting Penny deployed sooner, since I love "for want of a nail" alternate timeline stuff.

I wonder if we'll get leadership of a team? Our diplomatic nature might make us a strong candidate for it. And if not, we can always try complaining about it to Professor Port.
>>
>>1676710
But that sounds like too much work anon.
>>
>>1676720

Hey, I for one want to lead a team of the most unstable people. Be the one who seems like the odd man out but when someone actually gets us pissed we begin to play a game. A game where we are AM
>>
>>1676729
>Unstable people
>Yang

You're going to have to choose one, because Yang actually has her head screwed on right and tight, barring her, uh, anger management issues.

Actually, I was thinking a team of Ruby, Yang, us, and Weiss would actually make for a pretty fitting team. It's a sibling team, and no doubt there would be plenty of work for us as the former two drive the latter mad.
>>
>>1676736

Can't argue that, but where it leaves Blake? Well who knows?

And regarding unstable people, just been playing Drakenguard a lot lately
>>
>>1676742
As we're forbidden from using Weiss as ammunition against Penny ever again, Blake must step up to the plate and take one for the team.

Your sacrifice will be remembered.
>>
>>1676736
>>1676742
I kinda want Blake on our team, since her WF connection could lead to some great story moments. Obviously Whitaker has had some bad experiences with the WF, so him meeting a defector could be an interesting character building moment.

>>1676720
There are advantages. Leadership would let us name any combination attacks our team invents, and may increase our waifu-attainment potential.
>>
>>1676750

My god I would much rather prefer not to undergo the soul-rending process of making up cringeworthy ship names.

Staying faaaaaaar away from that.
>>
We will romance Salem. This cannot be stopped.

I was secretly considering Ciel as a potential waifu, but our robot sceptical ways, we have made a bad impression on her.

Well, I'm sure whoever Whitaker does end up with will be a lovely girl. I hear Haven girls are pretty hot, maybe we'll meet a nice lady from there.
>>
>>1676778

Terrible idea and you know it

>>1676798

Fuck that training ground for terrorists and an interspecies homosexual couple
>>

QM, you should use ## instead of # when inputting your password, it'll be more secure.
>>
>>1676736
I feel like there is character arc potential with Blake, but I think that would work as well.

>>1676742
I mean, RWBY isn't exactly edge city, even if it likes to pretend it is. You won't find many Drakengard worthy character traits there.
>>
Guys, did you ever consider the fact that, due to the transforming nature of RWBY weapons, you didn't have to limit yourselves to a polearm-rifle?

My suggestion would have been a sword that can shift into a polearm with assault rifle capabilities. That way, you stick with the Schnee aesthetic while subverting it. Best of both worlds.
>>
>>1677327
I'd take that. Might be good to bring it up again in the upcoming thread in a few hours.
>>
>>1676742
>Drakengard

While it has a story with compelling characters, I fucking hate Yoko Taro's insistence on making you play the game multiple times in order to get the normal endings.

Let's objectively Analyze every female.

>Ruby: Too Innocent
>Weiss: Our sister and has her own issues
>Blake: Coward
>Yang: While hot, likely would not be interested in a long-term relationship
>Pyrrha: Better with Jaune
>Nora: Better with Ren
>Velvet: Needs more of a spine
>Coco: With Fox
>Penny: She disturbs us
>Ciel: Doesn't like us
>Winter: Our sister and better off with Qrow
>Cinder: Crazy bitch
>Emerald: Cinder's sub
>Salem: Hates Humanity

Neo is perfect. Neo is love, Neo is life.
>>
>>1677462
She's gonna step on us in S3.

Which is fine by me.
>>
>>1677346
It's even funnier if the stumbling is mutual.

>>1677462

I agree with plenty of that, I'd like to point out to all these Neofags that all of a sudden popped up. She's got Roman
>>
You guys need to let the canon pairings go.
We want to bang pyrrah or something then its ok to preemptively stop a pairing before it can happen.

Plus lets be honest, our involvement in their lives will likely radically change them.
So no blake running like a child.
More importantly though, pyrrah will probably stay alive if we go with her.

But I like that pairing
>>
>>1677656
I'm perfectly fine with letting Jaune keep Pyrrha.
>>
>>1677656

Come on, let Jauns have her. Besides I'd just want to cockblock all attempts of him trying to get with Weiss and reverse it towards Pyrrha

And when one certain someone comes along, I propose we introduce him to Chinese water torture.

Divert Jaune from our imouto, make sure to reinforce Neptune's ironic fear of water
