I had to disassemble the top of the carriage to get some interior shots, but when I was putting it back together I squeezed it a little too hard and the whole thing shattered. Sorry for the delay!

Also I took a perfect 10/10 shot and then deleted it like a rube so I had to go back and take the top back off a second time to reshoot it.

Happy Fourth of July, Legonauts!

I'm going to go to bed for a while but I will be back tomorrow and we can keep playing! Thanks a lot for everyone who stuck around - I know this wasn't the fastest game but when I have an idea I need to chase it down and run it into the ground.

If you're new to Lego Quest, you can read most of the last seven-ish years of episodes on suptg:

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=lego%20quest

The official Lego Quest wiki may possibly have an entry for our humble narrator at some point in the future:
http://legoquest.wikia.com/wiki/Lego_Quest_Wiki

And if you're on the Twitter, you'll get a tweet whenever an episode starts or resumes:
@EndmanOfFuturon

Goodnight everybody!

Last night I spent about fifteen minutes messing around trying to get a horse to stay in the air before realizing that the combined weight of a horse and rider was too much for the sticky-tack alone and I would have to rig up a more secure connection.

This is what I came up with (it attaches to the clip on the side of the horse's saddle) but the weight is too much for the ball joint, so it needs something else underneath of it further out from the base to prop it up.

>>1637770
I ended up just tilting the horse forward and not using the floating setup at all.

Anyway, getting set up now, should be back live before too long.

Well, that's a wrap! I had a lot of fun despite how long it took to shoot everything, so thanks to everybody for sticking around through the whole thing! I should be back on Friday or Saturday and we can have some more fun. I'll be back tomorrow to talk about some stuff, but for now I'll just say that a big part of why this game took so long is because I only have a few trees so I have to position them juuuuuuuust right to make it look like a forest and not a shelter belt!

If you had fun, you can read almost all of the past Lego Quest episodes on suptg along with all the images:

Thanks everybody!

I don't think this episode has many Easter eggs so I'll just start posting as usual and see what happens.

First up here is a good look at the carriage in the daylight. Pretty happy with how it turned out, except for the aforementioned exploding issue. Like most of the vehicles I make these days, it's really stable when assembled but the process involves a lot of dodgy connections that don't hold up on their own. The entire back of the buggy launched itself because all of the sloped pieces are connected at the top to a single tile (tiles don't have as much friction as regular plates).

As an anon mentioned the cab driver's torso is a Classic Town fireman. Head is CMF Janitor, who actually has a mustache print on his head underneath that mustache piece.

The horse hitch is just a clip, but it allows about a 20 degree range of motion on either side.

The sides of the carriage both have footplates that swing up to keep the doors closed or down to allow dainty noblefolk to ingress and egress. I used to just phone it in and make something that looked like a toddler's approximation of a vehicle, but these days I have a lot of fun making stuff like this ahead of time with as many details as I can cram in.
>>
The inside of the cab is pretty spacious. You could cram a lot of minifigs inside and still be able to close all the doors. It was a little tricky to shoot this episode's scene because that noblewoman's dress piece is a 2x4x2 brick.

The trunk is another fun feature. Here it is closed.

Looks like one of those cheese tiles got turned crooked when it exploded, how embarassing

The trunk is also pretty spacious, as you can see from how far this crate fits inside. There's also some more space behind the crate where you could throw some suitcases.

Outside of the Skull and Pips.

It's called the Skull and Pips because that was the only 2x2 printed tile I have that remotely fit "sign for an old-timey inn".

Like all my buildings it's just a facade with an open back that only looks good from a few angles.

I'm almost positive that it's the Forest Maiden CMF:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3626bpb0855

I either bricklinked the head or got it in the build-a-minifig bin because I don't have that CMF. Just looked through all the yellow female heads and that seems to be it.

Everything in the scene is available for interaction but it's probably only loaded if you roll high enough but that is the reason I put it there yes

I'm slowly starting to get the hang of modular builds that let me create the maximum amount of scenery with the minimal amount of pieces. A lot of the wall sections in the innterior have a SNOT stud on one side and a blank surface on the other. I made a bunch of stuff to hang on them to create the illusion of space (fishplaque was near the "entrance", the section of wall behind the firewood box was removed, flipped and used with the map frame in the shot here >>1638625

You can't see it because the wench is in the way but that section of wall is missing behind her.

Once again I used the light brick I got as a kid for a fireplace. Here's what the fireplace looks like from the back side. I put the baseplate up on Duplo blocks and slot the red light into the Technic pin hole brick.

I originally just planned on using UV lights to make the flames glow, but like many of the ideas that I don't fully test out, it worked fine in an empty room but with minfigs and furniture it caused a very noticeable blue sheen over all the pieces wherever it caught the light too directly. I didn't find this out until I was shooting that scene, so I had to stop and quickly rebuild it into this.
>>
>>1642174
That's a clever system for modular walls, and it works to good effect. The set feels a lot more spacious in your photos than it must be in actuality.
>>
Some early shots of that noblewoman. You can see how big her dress is.

Early SFX test for the look of the game

Ultimately didn't work because some colors didn't work well with this method and fixing all the mistakes was too time-consuming (as it turned out the way I did it in the game was time-consuming enough).

I KNEW I'd seen it before.

Once you're done with this quest, you should convert it into a hot rod. Maybe a flying space hot rod.
>>
>>1642204
Yeah, it's working really well. This is the entirety of the inside.

As per my usual autism, none of you probably noticed that the barrels on the inside have lighter lids than the ones outside like the one here off to the right of the door that you can barely even see in the one shot where it's visible >>1637948

Because the lids are made of wood and the ones outside are more weathered.

As >>1641412 pointed out, our protagonist is the "mystery" CMF figure from the most recent wave, so if you want one for yourself they're one of the most common figs in the wave.

Hairpiece is from the CMF Miami Guy >>1642220

I grabbed it right before I took that shot because I had not planned for the possibility that he was going to take his hat off. Out of all the hairpieces I have, I think it works the best with his muttonchops, so very happy with the combo.

I wish I had some trans-yellow mugs but they don't make them in that color.

>>1638824
Just realized I forgot to put the barrel back next to the steps in this shot after I accidentally knocked it off.

>>1639060
Pooch is obviously a Lego LotR warg. It wasn't going to have a black stripe, but the bricklink seller I got it from forgot to include the 1x2 brick and 1x2 plate that make up the section of back and I don't have either of those pieces in dark brown.

>>1639382
This was probably my favorite shot

>>1639464
Close second

>>1639466
Floating effects are really hard to do in this game because I only have a few trees so I have to keep the shots as tight as possible. It's even harder with the warg because the body is a single piece (like a horse) so it's difficult to position it in a way that looks like it's actually in motion.

>>1639855
Because the warg head only tilts upward so far, I had to put this baseplate on Duplos and have the warg stand next to it which is why it's on blocks here >>1639897

I think that should be all the points of interest in this game, but if you have any questions or want to see more just ask! Thanks again for playing, everybody!
>>
>>1642359
How are the transparent pieces floating in this shot >>1639382 ?

You can't really tell because it's almost the same color as the teeth so it blends in.
