>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a thirty year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

"I'll make the androids pay," you promise.

Trunks nods. "Right. We can't give up yet. We're still alive, so we still have a chance."

"How did you all escape, anyway?" you ask.

"Well, Chaozu used his powers to attack Gero's mind," Trunks explains to you. "Then Piccolo used the Solar Flare and we made a run for it."

You'll have to thank Piccolo for that, later.

"Come on," you tell the boys. "Let's go see what your mom's up to."

You find your wife still hard at work flipping through channels.

"What are you up to?" you ask.

"Keeping an eye out for any reports on the Androids," she answers. "Nothing so far, other than reports about the destruction on Amenbo island."

"I'm glad you made it out of there okay," you say to her as you join in watching the TV.

"I'm glad you're safe, too," she replies with a smile.

"In my time, they made their announcement right after they killed most of Earth's defenders," Trunks explains.

"But this time, most of them got away," Bulma says. "So there's no telling where they'll pop up next."

"Okay, but why is the airship still out?" you ask, glancing at the large vehicle sitting a few feet away.

"It has a phone built-in, in case my dad needs to call me," she answers, continuing to flip through the channels. "He wouldn't leave his stupid pets, even though the Androids could be on their way there."

"They went there in my time," Trunks tells her. "But grandpa was away when they arrived, so he was safe."

Little Trunks gives his older self and mother a worried look. "Is grandpa going to be okay?"

"Of course, sweetie," Bulma assures him, putting an arm around his shoulders.

"But what about the Androids?" he asks with concern. "Can't everyone beat them?"

"Not yet," you say, hating to have to tell your son that.

Looking toward the older Trunks, you ask if he knows of any weaknesses the Androids have.

Trunks shakes his head. "No. We tried raiding Gero's lab once, but that ended in failure and a lot of deaths. The Red Ribbon Army was guarding it well."

"Smartass," you remark, which Trunks answers with a smile. "Before we go, I want to get somebody else to join us."

"Alright, another person might help if things get dicey," Trunks admits. "Who did you have in mind?"

You don't even have to think about it. "Piccolo."

"Piccolo?" Trunks replies, seeming a bit confused. "Isn't he talking with Kami?"

"That works out," you tell your son, turning and starting toward the Lookout entrance. "Because I want to talk to Kami, too."

Leaving the others behind for the moment, you step inside, making your way to Kami's throne-room. The door is closed, but you let yourself in, anyway, finding both Kami and Piccolo standing around a floating orb with images of the world below appearing on it. Specifically, it seems to be focused on a rocky area that reminds you a bit of Namek.

The two Namekians look toward you as the image fades, with Kami looking almost relieved, but Piccolo seeming furious.

"Didn't Popo tell you not to interrupt?" he growls as you approach.

"This is important," you assure him. "We're heading for Gero's lab to try and find information to help us beat the Androids. I was hoping you would help."

Kami smiles, causing Piccolo to throw a furious look his way. "That sounds like a wonderful idea. Piccolo, if you're so concerned about these Androids, why not go with Tofoo and look for a way to defeat them?"

Piccolo scowls, balling up his hands into fists.

Kami gives his other half a little smirk. "Go on, now. Perhaps we can wrap this up more easily than you thought. In the meantime, I'll keep an eye on things from up here. Perhaps you'll prove right, and my fears will have been nothing but nonsense."

Piccolo looks away from Kami, still looking angry, but not bothering to say another word to him.

"Tofoo, I wish both you and your son luck," the guardian tells you. "And you, of course, Piccolo."

"Spare me your well-wishes, old man," Piccolo tells him harshly. "Just try not to let your heart give out while I'm gone."

With that, the Demon King storms out of the room, leaving you and Kami alone as the door slams behind him. If there's anything you wish to say to the guardian, now might be the time.

"What were you two talking about?" you ask once Piccolo has left (though with his hearing, Piccolo could still be listening in for all you know). "It must have been pretty important if Piccolo was the one who wanted to talk."

Kami gives an amused chuckle. "Yes, it takes quite a bit to make Piccolo willingly come to speak with me. These Androids frighten him far more than he wishes to admit to anyone, even himself."

It takes you a moment to realize that Kami was attempting a joke there.

"And what was it that you were afraid of?" you ask the guardian.

Kami's smile vanishes. "You may recall that I told you of a feeling of dread that I have been experiencing for some time. For the past four years, I have sensed something festering on the planet below, a threat that could mean doom for us all. When your son came with his warning about the Androids, I believed that he spoke of what I had been sensing."

"I'm not sure," Kami admits, sighing as he stares at the now-blank orb. "In fact, I'm not even certain that the Androids weren't what I was sensing. Piccolo believes that my old age is simply beginning to take its toll on my senses. Perhaps he is correct, but every fiber of my being is telling me that something even more dangerous than the Androids will soon make itself known."

"King Kai!" you shout up into the sky. "Why does everyone want to ruin Earth?! Why do they just keep coming one after another?!"

"Hey, don't look at me!" you hear the Kai's voice reply. "I just keep watch around here, I have no control over what the mortals do. Getting involved in mortal affairs is forbidden, except in the most extreme cases. If I had to guess, though, I'd say it's because you and Goku do nothing but attract trouble."

Well, that was about as helpful as you'd expected. You turn your attention back to Kami.

"What was Piccolo planning?" you ask, wondering just what somebody like the former Demon King would do when they find themselves desperate.

"Piccolo suggested something I never thought a possibility," Kami explains, turning away from you. "He proposed that the two of us become one, as we were so long ago."

We should totally become the Official Guardian of the Earth after the Cell Saga ends. Dende can be our assistant who provides the Dragon Balls, as well as boost our waker powers.

We could live both at home and at the Lookout. The Lookout could be our own private base, guys! Our own private base!

B You are going to be hard pressed to convince enough people to become guardian we just never wanted the job
>>
>>1619967
I don't really see that happening unless he fuses with kami and becomes a brand new namekian. In canon it was his friendship with gohan that helped mellow him down so much, and that took a year of deep bonding, can't force that
>>
>>1620004
>A We don't know Dende
Som knows Dende, doesn't King Kai get him to come in canon anyway?

>B You are going to be hard pressed to convince enough people to become guardian we just never wanted the job
We don't have to live at the lookout, and it would basically like going to work everyday. We are already The Guardian of Earth in everything but title, along with Goku.
>>
>>1619967
>>1619964
>>1619953
"But, you said no, right?" you ask.

"I told Piccolo that we should take some time to understand just what we're dealing with before making such a monumental decision," the old man answers. "While returning to our original form would increase our power, there are several side-effects and uncertainties that make such a course of action only suitable if the situation is truly grim. I'm uncertain if we have yet reached that point."

Piccolo getting even stronger does make you a bit nervous, but with Kami in there influencing him, perhaps he won't be such a bad guy. You hope not, anyway.

"So, how powerful would the two of you become?" you question.

"It's difficult to say for certain, but I believe that had we fused at the time Piccolo was on Namek, we could have defeated Freeza. Considering Piccolo's current strength, and his merging with the Namekian Nail, there's no telling just how mighty we would become."

"What would happen to the Dragonballs if you fused?" you ask.

"The being known as Kami would cease to truly exist," he answers. "The balls would no longer function, and my time as Guardian would come to an end."

>A. Is he sure that Piccolo wouldn't use his new power to conquer the planet?

>B. If he's implying that he'd want you to become Guardian in his absence, you still aren't interested

Just wanted to point out in super the guardian gets God ki not sure if SOM is going with that but it is in super.
>>
>>1620060
I was never really against Tofoo becoming Guardian, but if everyone else doesn't want it, then everyone else doesn't want it.
>>
>>1620060
Becoming Guardian would give you a small trace of god ki, but I can tell you right now that it won't let you obtain a full-on God form just like that
>>
>>1620069
Yet, like our Ki training helping with Kaioken and Kumaken, it may or may not make it a bit easier for us if we ever get to Super / Battle of the Gods later on.
>>

"The situation's bad enough where you're considering it?" you ask.

Kami doesn't answer, which really tells you all you need to know. Of course he's considering it, that's why he was explaining the pros and cons to you.

"I don't think you should do it," you voice your opinion. "Not without knowing what we're dealing with."

Kami still says nothing.

"Besides..." you trail off for a moment. "Popo would miss you. And, so would I."

Now, Kami turns, offering you a smile. "And I would miss you, my friend. But you know as well as I that sacrifices must be made to protect our homeworld. How many times have you risked everything to protect the Earth? And what kind of Guardian would I be if I refused to do the same?"

"I said I wanted to talk about it," you point out. "If you fuse with Piccolo, the world is going to need a new Guardian. Odds are it would be me or Goku, and, well, Goku is...Goku."

Kami nods, still seeming to be in shock. "W-well then, I think we have a lot to talk about."

Inb4 Trunks, Kori, and Krillian's Daughter who's name I forgot are our students.
We should make them climb Korin Tower and try to beat Korin's Challenge. The latter is probably harder for them than one would think.

Just got out of work, I really don't want to be guardian, I don't want that responsibility. I rather just stay at capsule corp and train, hang out with family and friends and be a general nuisance to whoever threatens earth. Then maybe start the bear school but I'd save that for post cell.

Wait to add to that, they have to past the Karinga Tribe tests I'm sure they have, and have to be as strong as Upa's father.

So to meet the Guardian of Earth Tofoo and join Bear School they have to:
Earn the trust and respect of the Karinga Tribe.
Climb Korin's Tower, and take the test from Korin.
Either fly up to the Tower, or we send Nimbuses to get them.
Pass Popo's tests which is the entry exam.

They used that argument and the "magic" (I assume the clothes beam) one as reasons to be guardian and those will not sway me. If Tofoo is to get god ki I'd want it to be through his own merits not because his responsibility granted him a small divine spark. As far as IT goes I don't think we'll ever get it and there are so many technique ideas already as you can see from that one helpful anon that copies and pastes that list we have. Then there is then dragon balls. I'd want to get a namekian since they already know how to make it, unfortunately we never met and saved dende but I would still ask them for help and see if any of them would be willing to serve as our guardian and it would give big green someone else to hang with besides Lapis.

Also becoming gaurdian means we can change how the HBTC works and we get an even more extended life so we can train in it to our hearts content meaning we can close any power gap very quickly provided SOM allows for that
>>

Personally I'm all for it, not for the powers though. I just feel like it's almost the next step for Tofoo, if that makes any sense. It is true that we more or less act as Earth's guardian, for most world ending threats, there's goku but he's...goku. I almost see it as a path of ascension, going from wild kid to young martial artist that develops his own school of martial arts to world champion to becoming god and training ourselves even further. We already spend all day training anyway, might as well do it on the tower, as long as we still attend to our family I don't see an issue. It would basically just be Tofoo getting a job and sometimes being a way for a couple of days if required, like your dad going on a business trip. It'd be cool, just my out of game opinion though.

"If you became the Guardian in my place, it would certainly help put my mind at ease," Kami tells you as he walks around the orb. "Though, I get the feeling you would rather not have to assume such a mantel. Even so, if it comes to that, I want your mind to be as at ease as possible. So, if you have any questions, I would be willing to answer them."

"Is becoming a Guardian as simply as changing a title, or is there more to it than that?" you question.

"There's a bit more to it," Kami answers. "I would have to transfer my Guardian power to you, though that is a relatively simple matter. Your lack of training is my only concern, though I am confident that you will learn what is necessary, given time."

"Well, what would my rules and duties be?" you ask.

"You'd observe the planet, identify threats, and deal with them," Kami answers. "Whether it be evils such as Piccolo, natural disasters, diseases, or the like, you would do everything in your power to protect life on this world from destruction. As for rules, you would simply need to make sure you are keeping your eyes on the world, and that you put the protection of life on this planet above all else."

He stops there, and you know what he means. If it comes to saving the world or your family, the world has to come first.

"Would the Dragonballs bind to me?" you ask, changing the subject. "Would that effect Shenron's abilities?"

"Truthfully, I do not know," Kami answers. "Perhaps they would bind to you as the new Guardian, or perhaps they would vanish with me."

>A. If he fuses with Piccolo, you will become Guardian
Piccolo and kami fusing might just be what we need to win, and tofoo is really the only one that can step up and act as guardian properly. What if we wished for shenron to have the dragon balls be connected to Tofoo's life force? Namekians proved you don't need to be a god like kami to make dragon balls, and as long as both parties are willing it would be in the dragon's power...
>>
>>1621813
>B. You will think on this, while he thinks on what to do with Piccolo
"Well hopefully things won't turn drastic enough that you might have to fuse with Piccolo if it turns out there is something worse out there hiding behind the android threat."

Som enjoys it when we actually think and use our heads and come up with creative solutions to our problems. I am literally doing the wisest, more intelligent decisions based upon Tofoos current knowledge plus the knowledge he would gain upon learning the dragon balls have been used.

Asking the New Namek Namekians is the over all best decision, however. Although Tofoo is not currently sure of the location or New Namek and how to contact them. We could ask King Kai, of course. -but I'm look at how to "properly" use the Black Stars if we ever had to.

Let's be a good friend after we figure out how to save the world and keep the dragon balls from going inert, no real point in bringing him back if we're all just going to go with him back to the afterlife. Having working dragon balls would be a good safety net, plus I'm pretty sure they reset when they switch owners so we could just wish him back anyway. Plus we could make it so that they don't disperse when used, something kami did on purpose. Would definitely be a good idea to have them on hand on the tower since I don't believe Gero can actually get here without kami's permission.

"Yes," you answer. "Is Lapis coming?"

"No, this little field trip sounds boring if you ask me," the man answers. "You three have fun searching through the old man's things, I'll be staying right here."

"The less people we bring, the less chance we'll be noticed," Piccolo points out. "The Androids were able to defeat us last time, so there's no reason they should be heading back to their lab, but if they are, I would prefer they not find us."

"Agreed," Trunks chimes in. "Alright, I'll lead the way."

He takes to the air, with you and Piccolo close behind. The three of you leave the Lookout, and the Land of Korin behind, heading North toward the edge of the continent.

"Gero's lab is in the mountains near North City," Trunks tells the two of you as you fly. "With any luck, we can find information that will help us stop him and Nineteen once and for all."

"That mountain range is large," you point out to your son. "Do you know specifically where the lab is?"

"Yeah, like I said, we tried raiding it in my time," he replies. "I can take you right to it, and this time there shouldn't be an army waiting for us."

"An army we can handle," Piccolo tells him. "It's the Androids that are a threat."

"So, what happened last time you tried this?" you ask. "Back when Goku and I raided the old Red Ribbon HQ, they had a bunch of defenses that activated when we got close."

"There were sentries and guard towers in my time, but that was after the army had been reestablished for a while," Trunks tells you. "So, we had to fight Red Ribbon soldiers and hunters for a while. But Piccolo's right, the threat now is the Androids."

"What do you think of the Androids, anyway?" you ask, glancing toward the Namekian.

Piccolo scowls. "I think they're more powerful than I'd imagined, and that their damn energy siphoning makes dealing with them frustratingly difficult."

"Yeah, if they hadn't made it so hard for us to use our energy, this fight would already be over," you lament.

"Yeah, but I couldn't use my attacks to their fullest," you reply.

"You could have, you just didn't," Piccolo responds.

Not wanting this to grow into a full-on fight, you change the subject by asking Trunks what Red Ribbon hunters are.

"Specially modified members of the Red Ribbon Army," your son explains. "Doctor Gero gave them cybernetic enhancements to increase their strength, speed, and stamina. They essentially became powerful cyborgs that took out resistance groups too powerful for the Army's main forces, strong martial artists that were resisting Gero's rule, and other difficult targets. They came after Kori, Konattsu, and myself on a few occasions, but we were able to handle them just fine."

The temperature has decreased considerably, and as the three of you fly through the mountain range, Trunks looks around, searching for the lab.

"Down there," your son tells you, pointing at what looks to be a cave carved into the rock many feet above ground.

The three of you swoop down, landing and walking through the cave. The outside light allows you to see a massive set of blue doors ahead of you, and you know that your son has done as he said he would.

"What's wrong?" you ask.

"The Androids are here," the Namekian answers. "Nineteen and Twenty."

"What?" Trunks asks in shock, looking back toward the doors.

"But, it gets worse," Piccolo continues. "Gero's saying that he plans to activate another Android."

"We need to stop them from activating Sixteen," you tell the others, knowing that you're as good as dead if an Android that powerful is activated.

"Right!" Trunks shouts, thrusting his hands toward the doors and unleashing a wave of energy.

In an instant, the massive metal obstacle has been blown inward, the smoldering remains collapsing to the ground just inside of the lab and kicking up dust that mostly obscures the area from your vision.

Still, you can see the piercing blue-eyes of the Androids peering at you through the dust, and as the clouds begin to clear, you see smiles on both of their faces. Though their clothes are still dirty and burnt in some places, and though there are a few marks on their bodies, they seem largely unharmed. Twenty even has his hat back on.

The lab is smaller than you expected, and mostly made up of a blue-tile floor with two large pods of some kind covering most of it. They look almost like sarcophagi, and you suppose that's fitting, as they might have been where the Androids slept before being "given life".

One is already open, but another lies closed. If you were a betting man, you would say that the closed pod belongs to Android Sixteen himself. It's connected to various pieces of machinery, though you aren't sure what that machinery does.

"What a pleasant surprise," Gero remarks as the three of you survey the lab with a mixture of anger and fear.

"Number Twenty, I will eliminate the intruders," Nineteen declares, beginning to step forward.

"There's no need for that, Nineteen," Gero tells him. "Stand down. This will make a perfect test of Sixteen's abilities."

Nineteen frowns, but obeys his master's command.

"Trunks, destroy it!" you shout. "Piccolo, help me take these two!"

Trunks rushes in the direction of Sixteen's pod. Nineteen moves to intercept, but you kick the machine while it's distracted, sending it crashing through the machinery connected to the pod.

Your son gathers his energy, and as Twenty moves to stop him, Piccolo rushes in and attacks the old man. Trunks lets out a yell, and a brilliant flash of light fills the lab.

>End Updates

That's all for tonight, folks, hope you all had fun

I know my schedule has been pretty bad this week, and I'm sorry. A lot has been going on lately, but hopefully things will be a bit more normal next week.

As always, I'll be sticking around

So does
>hopefully things will be a bit more normal next week.
mean next thread next week or?
>>
>>1622495
I'm planning to run on Friday, but with the way things have been going this week, I can't say for certain
>>
>>1622456
Thanks for running, guessing more of Trunks future is going to be explained in detail in the paste bins?
>>
>>1622502
Yeah, more of those will come out.
>>
>>1622498
Thanks for running som

What does piccolo think of our switch the dragon balls over to tofoo/have tofoo become guardian? (You know he heard)

What does/would king kai think?(now you know he definitely heard)

What does som think of it?
>>
>>1622520
He "doesn't care"

"Yeah, that makes sense"

Could lead to some interesting things down the line, could be fun, would be an interesting development for Tofoo
>>
>>1622456
Thanks for running Som. What are the chances the plan isn't gonna... blow up in our faces?
>>
>>1622532
Not great, but possible

Glad I could tittilate your interest, so Friday man

Oh, what would trunks think if he found out his dad turned down godhood/becoming God and his reaction if he knew Tofoo might take it

(Sorry I'm just really into becoming guardian now)
>>
>>1622558
He's heard stories from his mom already

He'd want an explanation, but if you tell him what you're thinking, he would probably understand

>>1622558
Wait, you're talking about Future Trunks, right?
>>
>>1622599
No, but since you brought it up, how do they both feel about their dad almost being god/might become god?
>>
>>1622599
>>1622614
More importantly, how does Bulma feel about it? If we become god can we knock her up with our god seed? Surely birth control can't protect from that kind of potency...
>>
>>1622614
Future Trunks knows all about it, would understand your change of heart if you explained it to him.

Present Trunks only heard the story recently, and doesn't entirely get it. But, so long as you were still around as often as you could be, and you were doing something good, he'd be okay with it.

>>1622630
You will still be capable of reproduction

And as long as you're still around, she'll be okay with it
>>
>>1622630
ZZZZZZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
>>
>>1622633
Will the child be more powerful, having been born of god seed?
>>
>>1622643
Eh, who knows?
>>
>>1622655
Eugenics aside, in the unlikely chance we roll well in combat next time and the 3 of us beat the androids, how upset will Goku be not getting to fight?

Also, what are the chances of 13, 14 and 15 showing up? If we don't blow the whole damn lab up?
>>
>>1622643
>>1622655
Considering the fact that the kids were stronger based off of when they were conceived probably.
>>
>>1622667
He'll get over it
>>
>>1622675
So basically he would want to continue the fight from when he got back since he wouldn't want his three years of training to go to waste without at least one fight.
>>
>>1622700
Meh, tofoo and piccolo will be fun fights too, especially if piccolo and kami end up fusing.

So with 19 And 20 getting overall buffs to their tanking and DPS, is it worth it to run a 16/17/18 comp anymore? The meta is still Androids until the Cell DLC drops, but are Yamcha, Chi-chi, and other low tiers going to gain any counters?

Also when are Vegeta and Nappa getting patched back in? I understand Oozaru being op, but that was like ten patches ago. They'd be bottom tier in the current meta without a buff. Hell, replace Oozaru with a golden form like Goku's, that seems balanced. With Kami And Piccolo possibly being combined into one hero, the roster is gonna need padding out anyway
