/qst/ - Quests

In a dimly lit warehouse, you finally complete your first ritual! The components you painstakingly gathered and paid for disappear with a flash of Arcane energy, before the energy is sucked into the inner ring of the circle.
"I-I did it!" You exclaim, exhilaration is your only sensation as the item you summoned finally shows itself.

//

Okay, so here's how the game works. You play as a fresh Mage. As far as you know, you are the only practitioner of magic in your world. And the only ability you have is a ritual to summon 1 Non-Magical item of less than 11 pounds from a fictional realm. Yes, fictional realm, like a kunai from Naruto, a chest from treasure island, a plasma caster from Predator, Etc. Now, two important choices ahead.

What is your setting? This determines the scope of your powers, how much fiction you have access to, and the difficulty.

>Fantasy- You might be the first mage, but plenty of magical entities exist. Monsters, Dragons, etc.
Low Fiction, High Magic growth, VERY low tech. High difficulty,

>Modern- You live in an urban environment, a town 100,000 strong. Thankfully, your powers don't cause electronics to fail or anything.
Very High Fiction, Low Magic Growth, Medium Tech. Normal Difficulty.

>Sci fi- You learned Magic in transit from the northern Quadrant of the Galaxy to the Southern Quadrant, while working as a Senior Technician. Thankfully, you didn't have to fight off any of Humanity's numerous enemies...
High Fiction, Very Low Magic Growth, Very High Tech. High Difficulty.
>Write in.
What did you summon? Your spell lets you summon 1 non-magical item weighing up to 11 pounds from a fictional realm.
>Write in.

First option with 4 votes wins. Otherwise I will call it when I get tired of waiting.

P.S. I suggest offering a more specific setting in the category you choose.
P.P.S. Dice Rolls, when used, are Best of 3 d 100 + bonuses Vs a DC.

How often can we summon?
>>
>>1555409
supporting this
>>
>>1555423
Each item will require a list of components to summon. Once you get those, you may summon your item. You will work out what components you need within 24 hours of wanting the item.
>>
>>1555409
>>excalibur
It's magical anon. Can't summon magical stuff. Now a Green Lantern Ring isn't magical, or Annihilus' Cosmic Control Rod. Just harness pure energy to do ridiculous shit.
>>
>>1555409
Excalibur is a Magical object. Unsummonable. But Late medival is doable, I would put it at.
Medium Magic Growth, Low Fiction, Very Low Tech, Low Difficulty.
>>
Also, as we go through the quest, your powers will develop and allow you to summon more things.
Eventually, people and locations will fall under your abilities.

Gayyyyy.

How about joyeuse, the sword of charlemenge?
>>
>>1555507
Yes, but it would be, effectively, a normal sword.

Currently, our only Valid Vote is to set the setting to The Late Medival Period.

I used Rolz due to not knowing how to roll here. But Setting is Urban. I'll choose a more specific setting once we get an item. Then the quest can start.
>>
Here's some options.

>A vial of DX-1118 C A.K.A. The Mercer Virus

>A lightsaber

>An Omni tool.

>Iron Man's Zero Point Arc Reactor.

>The keys to the Bat Mobile

>A Scouter from Dragon Ball Z

Come on guys! Lets get creative and have fun here!
>>
Hmm this quest looks interesting

>>1555666
Would creatures count? Like say a Pikachu or something, or would we need to learn how to summon "Familiars" before we could do that
>>
>>1555679
No living things yet. Once the quest gets rolling, then you can upgrade your abilities. You could snag a pokeball though.
>>
>>1555666
>>A vial of DX-1118 C A.K.A. The Blacklight Virus
>>
>>1555666
Do DMC Devil arms count as nonmagical? I assume not

How about EVE Online Skill injectors so we can git gudder at this whole magic thing fast (if thats how they'd work in here)

If none of those would work I'd go with the omni tool
>>
>>1555708
DMC devil arms are creatures though. ARENT THEY. Whoops accidental caps.
>>
Will the time we start with affect what things we can summom
For example if we do mideval wouldnt we be limited to things within our understanding?
>>
>>1555748
Yeah. If you don't know Anime exists. No anime stuff etc.
>>
We've got one vote for DX-1118 and maybe one for Omnitool, from Mass effect.
>>
>>1555817
I'll vote for Omnitool, i don't know what the DX-1118 virus is, but Late Middle Ages has THE plague, thats more than enough virus for me
>>
>the mercer virus.
DO IT CONTAINED FOR FUCKS SAKE. DONT START A BLACKLIGHT PROJECT DONT DO IT.
>>
>>1555844
the virus makes us a super human who can morph our body into different shapes and have superhuman qualitys. also absorb biomass. type in prototype two and you get the idea
>>
Rolled 82 (1d100)

So, two for DX1118, the Mercer Virus.
And two for Omni-tool?
okay.

1-50 Omni-Tool
51-100 Mercer Virus

Remember, the year is 2017.

You adjust the ritual one last time and the portal opens before you, lines of arcane energy drawing themselves into a stable, 2 dimensional hole in reality. Already, the strain can be felt behind your temples. [No roll this time] But, this is your first successful summoning, and you won't let anything stop you from gaining your just reward.

You reach through the portal, and into a different world, a timeless world, where Alex Mercer is just about to crush the vial he escaped with, and unleash a virulent plague of unstoppable destruction on New York, and the World. You let lose your held, bated breath, and grab the vial. Your ritual will only allow a copy of your target and your own body through the portal, no air, contagions, or energies can pass through the portal either, for that was the nature of your idea. Normally, this would be an impossible feat, even if magic was widespread and used by all, but using reference material, like books, games, and shows, you developed a means to isolate and target singular items. Thus, you have Bypassed the truly prodigious energy requirements to summon objects from another dimension. Go You!

The spell finishes replicating the item in your hand, so you take your hand out of the portal and release the immense strain of the ordeal. It's too bad you don't have an easier way of stopping time than that though. If you need to obtain such rare components every time, perhaps you should do the ritual without it... Something to think on later, you suppose.

You are in a Warehouse which you have rented for the month, it is June 9th, 2017. On you is 100 dollars, all you have left. A motorcycle key, the Mercer Virus and a house key. What would you like to do?
>>
>>1555962
swallow the mercer virus so there is no risk if need put the vial in our mouth close lips and bite down
what size is the vial?
>>
>>1555971

>>
>>1555971
Slightly larger than an adult males middle finger.
>>
Okay, judging by the discussion so far, I need a roll for using the vial with no contamination. DC 60, +4 to the rolls.
>>
>>1555962
can we do a magic sphere that does not let any contagions pass through around our head so we can drink or crush the vial in our closed mouth without any risk of it to spread or a circel that does not let any contagions in or out around our body so if our body starts to suddenly spray out a little virus there is not risk of it spreading?
>>
>>1555995
do a circel or sphere around our body so that we can crush it witout the virus spreading this is something we must plan

I want to do a little bit of character creation, but it would break the flow. Is there anyway to do it without that? Or are you guys ok with it?

>>1556023
it was my idea to do a ritual/magic/circel/sphere to contain the possible virus infections your idea was to contain it but you did not say how

oh no my idea or a better term is the thing I wanted to happen was the virus rather than the Omnitool. sorry for any confusion

Also, discuss future items you might like, or where you want the character to be in a month or some such. A plan would be nice and help updates flow.

you decide QM i am ok with both go with the flow and decide with our interations or character creation we could after the taking the virus forgeting our gender, voice apeareance and we are a homeless nobody
>>
>>1556055
so that we build up the MC from the ground up just have the magic power and knowlage from the MC before the virus like a book or movie or strith up in the brain
>>
>>1556055
with the mercer virus, we could be anyone. we just need to get close and consume them.

but items I would want? well it has to be tangable, currently non-magical, and weigh less than a heavy book.

I got a plan. we know about how our magic works yes? if so go on the internet and then type in some bullshit we want eg flight
we find a story how some bloke gets flight from a mighty pebble. we then magic the pebble to us, we win. rinse repate
>>
>>1556053
ok no problem and sorry if it feel like i was acusing you and a onmitool is not that usefull compared to the power to shapeshift into any biolocical being and more a pocet dimension for mass and being bigger on the inside like the tardis from doctor who limited mommetom maipulation weakening the effect of gravity i like how you think
>>
>>1556064
adding on to that, maybe find out what we need to make better spells?
>>
>>1556064
could work but we need ultra rare or limited ingredienses like the horn of the extinct rare unicorns or something that only exist in a limited amount
>>
>>1556069
we seam to be mage only limited by our imagination and belifes and magic energy if we are the only macical creature or being that canuse this energy we have infinate energy source but we are only limite how fast we can take it in or store it woitout it straning our body "soul/magic core" and biolocial body
>>
>>1556064
>gets flight from a mighty pebble
That sounds like a Magical Item, something we can't summon yet, or at the very least we'd have to scour for incredibly rare materials
>>
>Rolled 83+4=87
Great success!

You tuck the vial in your pocket and start writing on a small study in the warehouse. You moved all of your things into this warehouse to facilitate your research. It took you nine days to finish this ritual, your current idea won't take nine HOURS if you have anything to say about it...

-----

It is done. After 7 hours of work, 2 bottles of 7-UP and a bag of Doritos, you have created a ritual that can shred any entity recognized as a pathogen, by the intelligence matrix connected to your subconscious, from passing the barrier.

Standing on the complex diagram, you finger the vial in your hands and sigh. There is a chance to lose your memories in this procedure, you would have taken the strain from Jason Heller, but circumstances made that impossible. How... Do you prepare anything? Did you keep a journal or would you like to write a letter to your future self?

>Write a letter- We enter a short bout of character creation.

>You kept a Journal- QM Decides everything about character

>No... Your life, not remembering it might be for the best.
>>
>>1556094
so we can only sommon this that are not "magical" but can violate the laws of thermo something about energy can not be created or destroyed can only be converted?

>>1556100
I'm defining Magic as an energy that crosses dimensions, allowing for reality 'breaking' by substituting the reality of objects effected by said energy with the desired set of rules enforced by the control.
Magic items will fight to stay in their universe, and living items are too complex to copy accurately ATM.
>>
>>1556101
i like the idea with having "a journal of our research and thoughts on this shit" that i support
>>
>>1556111
but the virus is a living thing its self replicating and can take-in/re-fuel energy/food so it should count for a "living being" how about robots the "living being" what defines a "living being" is something like a "soul"? or is it becuse evety virus is not bigger then one cell?
>>
>>1556128
Its probably more about size and the targets cognition, a virus doesn't realize its being copied, its too simple an organism too so it didn't fight back
>>
>>1556128
A virus is not a living thing. It is the biological equivalent to a malfunctioning robot, cobbled together from scraps, that functions only just enough to do things. It is a vessel with instructions in it, it's why you could only get the virus in the vial, instead of from a drop of blood from one of Heller's many fights, at that point, the virus has infected a living organism and they become one, uplifting the virus to life status.
>>
>>1556142
The reason living beings can't be copied is their complexity, if you took a human and measured the chemical reactions occuring in a second, or tried to map the brain... Your magic can't 'scan' and 'replicate' a living being safely. You can try, but are likely to get a very disfunctionall copy, if that. You have to get 'smarter' magic that scan's and copies more accurately.
>>
gentlemen, i propose that once we have become a biological horror, we further augment that by getting ourselves some NANOMACHINES
>>
>>1556153
I can't guarantee your cells won't simply destroy them, like a toxin or such. If you gain enough control and understanding of your functions, it's possible though.
>>
>>1556153
ther could be a problem that they are not compatible
>>
>>1556153
we can not control them, thus they are useless at best. they are GREY GOO at worst
>>

Xander Stevenson
21 years of age
typically Neutral with good leanings and a taste for disorganization.
Tall, strong looking young man with blonde hair and blue eyes.
You were abandoned by druggies who died in the streets, a young woman adopted you because you looked just like her other adopted son, who turned out to be your identical twin, given up at birth for being too much trouble. You both dote on your younger sister. Your 'Father' always tolerated you with a smile, but at the age of 19, you stormed out of that house when he DARED compare you to the trash who gave birth to you, determined to make something of yourself...

----

You finish the 3 page letter and set it just outside the circle you are in. With a deep breath, to calm yourself from the bubbling emotions and thoughts, 'is this death? Why am I doing this? Will I be me or will it take over?' You shake your head, this is no different than sleeping... Yes, that's it.
Pulling out the vial from your coat pocket and opening it, a single tear falls from your eye as you say, "Goodnight," and empty the contents into your stomach.

You kneel on the floor for a second, a numb tingle, cool, but burning, trails after the substance. Y-you. *Hurk!* Blood and vomit hit the floor and you see tendrils of flesh reach out of the puddle as you black out...

You edge yourself over the line of conscious thought and realize something. It worked! You go to jump in happiness, and narrowly avoid throwing yourself into the still active barrier. You feel so, so light. And your speed, of thoughts, of sensations.
Everything is overwhelming, but you aren't experiencing any negative feedback from the over stimulation as your thoughts are transmitted throughout your body, constantly stored in a crystal format in each cell, new connections are constantly occurring and breaking. A shifting pathway of YOU... But you need to leave this circle, and with a simple command, the barrier drops.
At your feet is a letter, one you remember writing, but looking over it, you notice something is different. The emotions you express in writing don't match what you feel when looking back on certain memories. You're morals have been changed, perhaps its just the body wide brainpower talking, but your grasp of right and wrong were a bit too strict, weren't they? After all, what's wrong with killing a few people if they're in your way. And with your abilities, its less killing, and more... making them go to sleep isn't it?
That is, if absorbing someone copies everything perfectly... hmm.

>Important. Due to the introduction of the Mercer Virus, you have shifted alignments to Chaotic Neutral with evil leanings. You have also gained an IMMENSE boost to life, damage, speed, intelligence, utility, and almost every aspect of your life. Unfortunately, you have lost your humanity, oh well.

Judging by the phone in your 'pocket', it is 2 p.m. June 11th. You have a missed call from your employer and 14 missed texts from your little sister and twin brother.

>>Fixing your morals? Rolled 17, huge failure. Morals locked until a character changing event occurs.

You mope around for a while, contemplating the undesired change to your morals... But the more time you spend thinking on it, the less you care, really. Your not retarded, in a world like this, full of laws and militaries that could destroy the world, you won't be doing everything that pops to mind all willy nilly, you nearly feel insulted that you thought so little of yourself, shaking your head at the deterioration of your sanity, you stop brooding and find a large clearing in the warehouse.

>>Experiment with your powers, 97! Huge success
You spend a few hours testing everything you could. Speed, Reflexes, Strength, Morphing ability... It's amazing.

You can easily run over 100 mph, You couldn't find an upper limit to your strength, you managed ~5,000~ pounds before you couldn't pile anything else on. The spine shuddering, if you had one, sensation of sculpting your own flesh is amazing, euphoric even. And your blade... oh your blade. Mmm. Delicious, if you could taste the fulfillment of your arm stretching forth and rearranging, shaping cells into reinforcing structures and altering the compositions of membranes to match cell walls, before substituting normal glucose for high density calcium-carbon composites... *shudder* Your loving all 11 feet of deadly length that's hanging from your arm... It's a shame you don't get to use it...
You have obtained a great understanding of your abilities, you even 'solved' your moral dilemma! It is now approaching sunset, what would you like to do?

>>
>>1557074
That's very true, 11 feet is as long as you can make it, but it juts backwards as well as forwards, and in general, you could say it is 7 feet long forwards and 4 feet backwards. it is the forearm converted into a blade that can still be swung. Not an actually detached blade, Your character is 7' 6" as is his twin. based off the character Gamagori who possesses the 'biggest man in a room' trope.

You hurry to the door and open it. In front of you is an irate angel, a young highschooler with perfect proportions and a heavenly face. Also your younger sister, well, step sister. She quickly goes from absolute anger to a beaming, sheepish smile, after going to bang on the door again and hitting you, at least.

"Hehe, sorry about that. But, that doesn't excuse you or anything." She says, firing up again. "Who do you think you are? Do you have any idea how long we tried to get a hold of you? Go on, I'll wait..."

You start counting off the days. Hmm, well on the 4th, the weekend started. Then you took 3 days of vacation, then a sick day, and then your day off. That's the ninth, when you finished the ritual. Then you spent some time doing... Yeah, sooo, "Over a week?" You ask her.

"EXACTLY! Why I oughtta-" She trails off into a series of angry mutterings while you lead her in to your... warehouse, still full of rituals. Chalked onto the ground. And some broken glass too. Damn.

>Come up with a plausible excuse, or roll! Because more dice can fix any problem...

>DC 70 to convince her everything is okay.

>Alternatively, tell her the complete truth and hope she thinks you're lying out of your ass.

>Alter alternatively, tell her it's none of her business and she wouldn't understand anyways, treat her like a kid basically.

im back, I think I have a better idea for a lie. there have been a few strange things happning around the world sis, so I took to seeing if there is any connection to anything. and I found..SOMETHING I'm just not sure what so, I set it up and tried it. well I would have but a certain loud mouth interrupted me
>>
You take the next 30 minutes to narrate your recent 'LARPing' session with her, how you and some buds from work did this over the week and you all hashed it out earlier today.

You think you convinced her, but now she's just loitering around your place. Eating a bag of Doritos and playing Prototype 3, the long awaited finale to the series. It revolves around the reveal that Alex wasn't dead, he used Heller as a carrier to infect his daughter, gestating inside her until she went off to college in Dallas, Texas. There the third game starts.

Your sis is playing on the Human side of the conflict, as James Heller. The other option is to play on the Evolved side, known as the Umbra campaign. What do you want to do?

Choose two.

>Spend some time hanging out with sis, beat her in a few of the games you own.
>Make some food for the two of you.
>Take a walk. Random encounter.
>Take her home.
>Subtly experiment with your powers. How?
>Try not to get hungry, get REALLY fucking hungry.

Sorry infected, too late. Also, anyone thought of future goals? I'm looking for a timeskip soon.

> Eating Zerg
Well, you would obviously gain access to biological structures that surpass your current offensive and defensive capabilities. You could possibly gain access to psychic abilities. And you might be able to recreate the hive mind.
>Wanting to summon the tool of a time traveler?
Considering your only reason you can take things is that you stop time first, maybe? I'm not overly familiar with the doctors who.
>Absorbing a Xenomorph...
Well. You see, they have this super potent acid in their bodies, you know? You'll have to spend a long time treating it before you can absorb it.
But it would give you new stuff every time you eat one. Due to the genetic diversity each hive has, some constants are their acidic blood, hivemind, immunity/resistance to the acid blood, and an upgrade to your whipfist. If you ever make one, that is.

There's the answers. Remember though, 11 lb limit, no living, no magic, nothing you don't know exists. These are your general limits, which can be changed with research.
>>
>>1558958
can we even stop time in the tardis? we could just be opening a portal so we could ask for a spare sonic screwdriver or a trade can we travel to another unverse and back and if we travel to another universe is there a time diffrens? or does time just stop in other universe we visit or if we visited a universe twice do we travel to a new dimension before we interacted with it?
>>
>>1559676
You could just travel to another world eventually, for now though you can not.

When you first tried this ritual, two years ago, you tried a fairly simple nab and grab of a bag of gold coins. Everything was going great, fairly simple array, a few components, but the instant you activated your ritual, ALL of your mana was sucked out, it damaged the part of you that makes mana, AND knocked you unconscious. The damn portal didn't even open. For the next two years, you repaired your source and poured over the ritual, adding restrictions and limitations to it. Finally, you devised a system that should work, you just tested it, and here we are!
>Moving forwards, you will continue to refine your spell.
>By getting more mana supply, editing the ritual, finding better components, and deepening your understanding of magic.

On a related note, I've been doing some thinking about how magic in other worlds can be united into one system, and I've made some progress i think.
>You have access to True Magic, the Mana that binds realities and allows all things, possible and impossiple, looking at you Cthulhu, to exist.
>Most places have either A: Concievable Magic, which only bends rules of individual realities.. Or B: Innconcievable magic, which breaks and creates rules of individual realities.
>You get to do both.
>Most magic users in the dimensions you see have a tainted and used magic, because like energy, magic is neither created or destroyed, and each person to use magic imposes their ideas and thoughts on it. ; If YOU ONLY use your magic for summoning, the people of your universe will only be able to use summoning magic. things like that.
OH well, that's a tangent. Hehe
>>
>>1559962
is this a vote? and if this Most magic users in the dimensions you see have a tainted and used magic, because like energy, magic is neither created or destroyed, and each person to use magic imposes their ideas and thoughts on it. ; If YOU ONLY use your magic for summoning, the people of your universe will only be able to use summoning magic. things like that. is true we must control all the magic or never let anyother magiccuser to exist
>>
>>1560009
Magic spreads like a disease, by using magic, you leave behind used magic that has your imprint on it. It will accumulate in nature, tainting objects, animals, and people. Acting with a very simple mindset, it slightly alters them.

In short, by introducing magic to a magicless world, it will eventually become magical. You can't prevent this. Now that you discovered magic, tapped into it, your world will draw more and more magic to it. Already, your efforts have started a domino effect...

It's why i rolled earlier.
>>
I'm running in like, 2 1/2 hours.
>>
>>1559962
>because like energy, magic is neither created or destroyed,
>>1560128
>Now that you discovered magic, tapped into it, your world will draw more and more magic to it.
So if there's a Conservation of Magic going on, and supposedly the multiverse draws from the same pool, just how much magic is there in the multiverse?
>>
>>1560296
effectively infinite. All dimensions are supported by magic, when a dimension reaches its end, be it heat death, implosion, cascading failures and what have you, it is recycled.

I think that mana should be the substance which all things are formed of. In a universe like ours, mana is what you would get if you broke anything down to its final, base structure.
Electrons, protons, neutrons, photons, energy, gravity, etc. are all expressions of mana, structured how that universe wants its existence to be.
So existences are recycled, this leads to a constant influx of pure mana. Another way to explain its nigh inexhaustability is that the further down the chain of mana you go.
From true
to concievable and inconcievable
to the various branches from there
and the various branches from there
and from there
Each level acts like stages of matter.
Solid
Liquid
Gas

More volume, but heavily specialized.
You use true magic, so you have access to anything you want, but your 'mana pool' is very small.
Thinking through this is fun. I should do it some more.
>>
>spend some time with sis
>make some food for you two
>>Subtly experiment with your powers. How? Make shapes with your tentacles, hope sister doesn't notice while you play games with her.

Night falls as you loaf on the couch with your little sis. You spend hours hanging out, talking about her school work. She has a culture festival next week that she'd love for you to attend. Finally, your fun is interrupted by a very familiar, and loud, acquaintance.

*~Growluhow~*

"Hehe- Sorry about that." Your sister says, "I haven't eaten since lunch, so I'm starving." She smiles and pauses the game. "So what's for dinner?"

Hmm, in anticipation of your future, you kinda haven't done the shopping lately.

Rolled 52
Rolled 74

Thankfully, you scrape together a delicious chili bake. Two cans of beanless chili, a layer of cheddar biscuits, and some extra cheese meted on top.

Sitting at the table, you let your sister lead in saying grace, muttering a quiet, half-hearted 'Amen', before digging in to the food.

"Mm~" Your sister moans at the taste of your food. "I'll never get tired of your cooking bro. Gil's cooking sucks, and Mom's been working doubles lately."

Gil is the nickname of your 'father', Gilgamesh Senior. Creative man that he is, he named your twin brother after himself. After your fallout with him, the family's been having trouble working through it. The past you agonized over it, but now, it's rather numb, actually. He looked down on you from the very beginning. Even though you were never as smart as your younger sister, or athletic as your twin, you always gave your all in life. It was his constant disappointment that led to your final fight.

"Bro? Come on, are you brooding again?" You look up from your untouched food and see that your sister is already done with a second helping.

"Sigh, Yeah. Just remembering why you call him Gil instead of 'Dad'. I just wish we could have resolved it some other way." You say, though the words are far from your feelings on the matter. If anything, you think you might want to bury that man. If your mom knew what you do, she might just do it for you too.

"Don't worry about it so much bro. It's been over a year now, and it seems like we're on the road of recovery... You know, Gil wants to talk to you, if you think you're ready for it." She looks to you with a small smile before yawning. "Hey, I'ma hit the hay, alright? See you in the morning." She rinses her dishes in the sink and starts setting up the pull out bed.

You eat the food on your plate... Tasteless, due to a lack of taste buds you assume. Instead of working out how to taste again, you focus on your hand, thin strips of red and black flesh unravel from it and snake into the leftovers at your command. Each ribbon branches into more, grabbing the food and moving it into your body proper... It feels very strange to have lumps of matter in you, but slowly, the cells around the food gnaw at it, forcibly converting the processed biological matter-
(1/2)
>>
File: Boss.jpg (209 KB, 490x588)

209 KB JPG
Into actually useful biomass. At this rate, the 4+ pounds of food is only going to yield a pound or so of actual fresh cells. Most of it is... converted into something you can't accurately guage. Your body is automatically doing something with it, but you aren't sure what that is...

>Gained a little mass. Learned how to absorb. Learned that food takes a while to digest, even after turning into an abomination. Strangely enough, you can't tell what most of the stuff you've eaten is turning into, or what's being done with it.
At the moment, your control is very low, over your own body, restricted to macro tissue level, just below full blown organs. You can't change what occurs inside your cells, nor can you manipulate them freely. For now, you have to rely on templates, such as 'blade', or 'musclemass', or a person you have absorbed.
>Templates you have.
Blade- You can change your forearm (right) Into a blade ranging from 2-8 feet long.
Base form- You can look like Xander Stevenson.
Absorbtion tentacles- Parts of your body can unwind into vulnerable tendrils which penetrate sources of biological matter and forcibly absorb them into your body.

Well, you're sister is asleep and you have a lot of new information to work with. Some other information is as follows.

You live in Stadenfort, a made up city on the east coast of North America. You live in a world like ours. Your city is 100,000 strong and surrounding areas are rather heavily populated. A large megacity lies to your south east, with over 2 million inhabitants. It's actually three cities so close that they now connect.
You work as an engineer in the research and development department of a military contractor. But, 'you could have been a doctor,' and 'done something good' with the little amount of brains you have, instead of 'playing at second hand murder.'... You really hate Gilgamesh. He's a hypocritical son of a bitch who took a Hippocratic oath, figures.
Anyways.

that's true. I'm having to switch to a night schedule for an upcoming employment stint. Once that starts, i won't get to run very often. So i'm trying to get a bunch going now.

Does anyone have advice on how to build a consitent playerbase? Or anything when running a quest on 4Chan?

I've run on Anonkun, but it was never a problem there. Hmm. I've heard some stuff about twitter, but i've never had one. And maybe discord stuff? But that seems rather... Maybe, I'll see what Anon has to say.
>>
>>1562216
Twitter is nice to have so people know when your running because not everyone checks the thread every day. It also gives you a general idea of how many people are following your quest.

Getting a strong playerbase is just something that happens you cant really force it.

I would also recommend getting a trip for your threads to make it easier to pick your posts out from the rank and file.
>>
>>1562264
I'm basically brand new to 4chan, i've only ever used SupTG for binging on quests, so there's a lot I just don't know. I'm not asking for an in depth explanation for anyone, just some time to figure stuff out and a few tips.

Thanks for that.
>>
>>1562285
Aha, i see.

Well I wouldn't fret too much about a low player count at the beginning, so may QM's here pop up and disappear within the span of a thread that most people wait till they are more settled into a quest and sure they wouldn't ditch them before they start getting dedicated.

Hell one of the quests i follow is on like thread 70 some and at any point gets 2-10 votes per choice. So long as you don't disappear you'll find a group of players.

You grab your phone from the stand and make your way outside, enhanced eyesight guiding you through the messy warehouse as your sibling sleeps. With a wall between you and her now, and the few stars up above, you tap your boss's contact and start a call.

"*Ring*...*Ring*...*Ring*" The phone rings, but you get sent to voicemail. You wanted to talk to him about your week off and make sure you had a job to come back to. Michael's never steered you wrong before, but...

"Hey Mike, it's Xander. I was calling to make sure you still had a place for me on Monday. No need to rush or anything, I just saw your missed call... Anyways, I'll talk to you when you call back." You hang up and put the phone on silent.

"That's that I suppose." You raise the hood to your large jacket and start running in the night. You decide to keep your ears open, hoping to find someone your old self wouldn't mind testing his abilities on...

You don't make it more than 30 feet before you hear it. A dragging, metallic series of clinks. Voices muttering angrily and a sharp *THWAK*, followed by a long, pained moan. The noises are coming from a nearby alley. One of the voices starts speaking loudly.

"C'mon little man, we knows where you work, where you live. We knows so much abouts you man. We just need one, eensie, teensy thing from you. Just get us the drugs, and we'll leave you be, hell, we're offering to PAY you for them. You don't want bad things happening, I don't want to do bad things. So, get us what our clients want, walk away with a early Christmas bonus, and everyone's happy in the end. What do ya say, pal?" His voice rings, chipper and light despite the future he outlines, or perhaps IN light of it.

You quickly move to a better location, scaling the brick walls of the alleyway and perching above the 3 men in the alley.

One is an immense man, Standing at least a head above the others and rippling with muscles. He wears bladed chains over a suit of metal bands and leathers.

He stands behind a second, scared looking man in light blue scrubs. His features are plain, but he seems... dangerous. Beneath what you see at a first glance, his eyes are rapidly taking in the situation, and his quivering, shifting nature has brought him close to a piece of rubble, some concrete with a 3 foot length of thick metal sticking out.

Finally, you see a smaller man with heavily scarred skin, whether from burns, usage, or other sources is unknown. He keeps rambling on in that nasally, heavily accented voice, prodding the prey for an answer.

It's obvious this man is going to try and fight off these criminals, do you have any inclination to let him? Or are you going to save him before he has the chance to do so himself?

>Kill the criminals in front of him, then eat them.
>Knock the criminals unconscious, escort him away from the area and call the police.
