"I guess?" I say shrugging as I thumb my finger over the locket and sigh "But I'm not weak since my job is to fight....monsters that aren't from...here, that want to ruin everything, and this thing gives me the power to do it. It gives me magic and makes me strong enough to face monsters"

She blinks and frowns, sniffing the air around me again

"I don't understand how it works exactly, but it's made me...different than other humans, maybe more since its made me part of the magic that is against the monsters that want to make a mess of this place, and the rest of the world" I say as she starts scratching behind her ear again "are you even listening to me? I'm revealing some pretty serious stuff here!"

"Most people don't seem to grasp how serious this is" Holiday huffs, crossing her arms "Even some of my friends still don't"

"Why?" I ask as Juniper nods

"Yeah, I mean I guess it makes sense, smells like weird magic and you smell a bit weird to" She says bluntly, making me feel strangely insulted "Were you afraid I'd steal it or something"

I duck out of the way, bowing my legs as she tries to tackle me again, growling under her breath as she slides over the road and nearly into a man reading a newspaper on an old wooden bench

Fire flows around me, turning green and sticking to me as it turns to steam of the same color, ripping and burning my clothes and melting them down into the same light that flows around me like a wild current and replacing them with my magical girl outfit and armor, before my shield and sword appear in my hands.

"Well, you can take all the time you need to, I'll just lure the monsters out" I say, making her jump back, her pink eyes wide "It'd be good for the show they're making, wouldn't it? a new girl coming into to save me if I get into trouble?"

"W...wait!" She says as I turn, already running and burning the ground under my boots "I'm not sure I'm allowed to...Eli was always the one who...I'm NOT READY FOR THIS RESPONSIBILITY! HELP ME!

Well... I hope she can handle it, I'll be in a bit of a pickle if she can't. But hard work is the best work, and this is my job so I can't just back down because the odds are stacked against me here. Oh god what if he had a bunch of figurines in his hoard that Mali just hasn't found yet. Imagine her and Carol's faces when the y see their friends in the lewd poses they're obviously in.

I tap my foot, humming to the static and dull buzzing my locket is making as it floats up from my chest and spins around trying to figure out where it should go since its trying to track three different monsters.

So I guess I should go after the one that freaked me out the most, those glowing purple eyes. That one didn't laugh, maybe its because it doesn't have a mouth maybe because its the brains behind this operation. The again the one with the top hat made out of a bird cage was pretty weird to....not really scared of a rag. I rub my chin, trying to decide which to look for as I look over the city, looking where they would've ran off to with where they were heading before I lost sight of them.

The rag went towards the sea, towards the wall near the edge of the furthest beach. The eyes ran off to the middle, near that big old restraunt that needs armed guards for some reason, and the top hat ran towards the farms, near the corner of the wall. So the rag and hat can reach eachother by just going down the wall, and the eyes can watch them and reach the other to tell them or come in by itself when I am confident or just getting overwhelmed by both.

What a strange trap, but clever if they weren't so...well its kind of obvious. I mean its the kind of thing even beasts could figure out, hide two close by and in places where the prey can't see, thus being able to attack it or me in this case from three sides if they do it right.

And if I killed one of them, the other two could run or surprise me when I was taking the orb from its corpse.

Clever, but easy to understand if you figure out the one trick they're using. Still I only figured this out because I was watching carefully, if I didn't I'd...I'd have walked right into this trap.

"That's a...scary thought" I say, frowning before I swing my sword around and stair up at the restaurant sitting like a small tower in front of me "But if I go for you, the other two won't know what's happening"

I step towards the edge of the building with a confident smirk under my mask

"And I'll be able to pick them apart like an old doll" I say smugly before reality hits me in the face

Well, I wouldn't get past those guards. They have guns and I'm not sure how bullet proof my armor is....sure it may be magic but I don't want to end up bleeding out because of the people I'm protecting it. I'm not dressed to go inside and...well I might've ran up the wall to get up here, but I don't want to mess up a building that pretty and risk running into anyone on the way up. Don't want to see what would happen if I slammed into someone at that speed.

"Hmm" I hum, stepping to the edge as I weigh my options and then get an idea. Mostly because I was wondering why I don't have it easy with that comet beam thing, and remember that Holi told me I have similar powers. And I do I think, I know this magic of mine can make explosions and I have a shield to keep me safe. SO if I make one under it I can throw myself at the roof of that building.

But I'd have to fall off this building and angle it right so I just don't slam into it and lose a few teeth and go splat. Errgh, don't like thinking about what that would feel like.

"Well lets do this" I say, tossing my shield off the edge, leaping after it as I close my eyes and focus my magic on it.

My boots clang on the inside of my shield and I shout "BLAST CAP!" as I open my eyes, as a large, green fog of smoke forms under me as I'm deafened by an earth shattering bang and shot into the air.

"WOW WOW WOW! TOO FAST!" I cry out, grabbing my shield as all my guts melt, my legs shake and my insides twists as the building gets far too close for comfort far too quickly and I feel like my stomach and heart are about a hundred feet back.

I scream, huddling down and bracing for impact as my shield slams through the castle like edge of the roof. My eyes are open because I can't close them from the sheer speed I'm flying at.

Gravel and sparks fly in front of me in a blur of colors, motion and fear. But I see a figure surrounded by a light lilac light. It looks like its holding its hands out...is it holding some...OH CRAP!?

I stab my sword into the ground as I nearly go flying off the other edge and out into the city. My shield and I twist around, and for a second I can see the figure as it stands up....wait, is that a girl?

I tilt my head as she does the same, looking confused. Her face is covered by a Lilac scarf, and she's wearing a suit with swallowtails that's a little small as it shows her stomach, and her pants are much too short and show off...well everything. Her eyes are glowing, and her hair is short and brown

"What the fu?!" She says as she scrambles away as I realize what she is! One of those old girls from the old world! Didn't Holiday say I could bring them back to their sense or something.

My sword rips from the ground as my shield keeps going and I try to stand up as my locket blares

"Monster identified....MAGICAL GIRL!?!?....LILAC PUPPETEER?!" It yells out as she tries to run away from me "The girl who holds the strings of fate!"

Her legs vanishes away as a cane appears in her hand and breaks apart into so many pieces held together by a bright silver thread.

The way I imagined how Devoured Knowledge was 'born' is that some girl was crying when her family was sacrificed in a ritual to Raz. Ofc Raz being Raz would have just ate everyone involved but stopped when the girl whose family was used as the price to call on Raz begged in her grief for Raz to take her identity and memories of her past in exchange for the power to take revenge on the cultits... Raz accepted and gave the girl a stolen locket that activated thanks to the fact that the girl had just lost all her memories and identity wiping her soul clean and orderly enough for the locket to activate for her and make her a MG.
Of course the girl didn't in her grief realize that by giving up her whole being meant that she no longer remembered why she even was in the cultist base in the first place and promptly left after gaining instructions from Raz to gather knowledge from everywhere.

Who the locket originally belonged to... only HM really knows but i think that in her long existence Raz would have gotten her hands on one. The reason why she would give it to the girl is that I imagine demon summoners arent usually pure enough for lockets to work but this was the first time that a 'summoner' had just wiped herself clean of anything even vaguely resembling chaos. Lazy Cat is unhappy but that's basically her laziness defaulting to being too lazy to be evil as that takes effort. She is also too lazy to quit on her own because being a runaway is too much work.

And she is part of the Dark Magical Girl Project mostly because her powers only work on humans and magical girls and she became important just because she is pre new world and her laziness works really well to demotivate Magical Girls.

Oh and because she is too old for this shit but too lazy to do anything else. Retraining? New powers instead of making the ones ahe has stronger? Too much work!

Also she is so old her own would most likely make any magical girl not motivated enough retire if she uses it.

The light of the flames vanish as she holds her cane like a massive sword, bullets flying around her as she rushes me, trying to keep me distracted but thankfully I can keep out of their way with a few ducks, dives and twirls, bouncing on my heels as I step back to the same place and keep a good eye on her. Yeah she's just going to charge me, to keep me occupied until her new pets come on long since she's been pulling on their strings this entire fight.

Hmm, I'm guessing her script wants me to charge at her to, into a hail of gunfire and that...sword? of hers I can't see. But I'm not an idiot, even if I'm not educated. No way in hell am I doing something that suicidal. I'll just wait here for her.

"Oh giving up already, come on its no fun pulling strings without some" She begins to say as she swings down, I can hear the air being cut by her magic.

I step to the side, putting my shield hand on her shoulder as I spin her around, the ground being cut under her blade of pure magic.

But I Stop it before it can cause too much trouble, by kicking her in the back as hard as I can, slamming her into the ground with a thud. The flames on her die, and I can't....I can't see her anymore.

She starts to laugh

I feel cold steel wrap around my throat, and I get spun around, nearly falling to my knee as I bring one of my hands up to rub my now burning, and slightly crushed throat as I stare ahead into the darkness. And then it hits me like a brick, right as her cane whips me over the forehead, making me kneel a bit deeper as she laughs madly, not even to say words between her giggles and hurt...scared sounding sobs. My magic glows radioactively, and even if I don't understand how it works exactly I know it burns pretty brightly. So I stand back up, hearing the whipping cane coming back down towards me back as I turn around the green glow shining under my skin as it cracks.

The darkness fades as I grab the end of the cane and see Puppetteer's panic filled face as my armor glows dimly.

I yell in pain as bullets slam into my back, but she can't escape from me, I have a tight grip.

"Oh you're a lot weaker than a stubborn mule, Lilac" I say with a sneer as she glares at me

"And you're not supposed to fight back!" She screams "BURNING..."

"Fight back? I'm just trying to" I say as I pull her in close by tugging as hard as I can on her cane, actually lifting her off of her feet. Her eyes go wide as she starts panicking again and tries to fade off into the massive ball of darkness she's created around us to try and give herself any kind of advantage. "Well...guess I have to be cruel to be kind then" I say sadly as she whips her cane around, stepping into the shadows as she rips the street up with it

"Oh you won't have the chance, my pets are here now" She says sickenly sweet, making my skin crawl as my locket shakes a bit

"RAGGED THIEF AND CAGED GENTLEMAN HAVE APPEARED, WEAK TO TEARING BUT DON'T BREATH IN HIS DUST, WEAK TO BASHING, BUT DON'T GET TRAPPED BY HIM!" it screams at me, gigiling excitedly as I hear something else

a gunshot, a single one

"Heeeeey, Atomic!" Holiday yells as a pink light flies up to fill the darkness, making Lilac cover her eyes with a whimper "Sorry it took me so long, but I needed to find the girl you need the most"

"SHE'S MINE!" Puppeteer hisses jealously, as I glance over my shoulder, turning as I dodge the mad girl's cane once again and see a girl walking through the darkness.

Lazy cat: Sleep is important. Also our Atomic shoes herself being a beginner since she wasn't hard enough on the enemy from the start and so reinforcements arrived.

Sheepie: Yeah standard deluded 'save the villain mode' I am disappointed. She did so well with that cat...

Lazy cat: To be fair that cat was less human looking so viewers were not fan of him.

Sheepie: But this girl is the Boss of that cat, why the preference threatment? I mean regular humans and monsters who get corrupted by chaos just get killed by the magical girls!

Lazy cat: Mostly is the locket programing messing her up as recovering a corrupted Magical Girl would favor the King plans. Also notice how out of nowhere the girl said that the worst that could happen was being forced to fight another magical girl. When did she forget that death does happen?

Sheepie: But you guys actually want to corrupt her.

Lazy cat: Yes but we also have killed Magical Girls before. Mostly in a dramatic way to show how evil and or powerful the new villain is. We are going by a slighty more realistic trend this time, so yes some good people, and definitely a Magical Girl are going to die.

Sheepie: But not Atomic, right?

Lazy cat: Oh we could have Atomic fail and get killed, remember that just drama bulshit and yuri is not enough to keep viewers. Sure it would be a shame to have her last so little but it helps with the whole more real approach.

Sheepie: Okay I am confused do Chaos and Order fight each other just to make an anime?

Lazy cat: No, but is a never ending battle. Even if we completely won in this world there is a big multiverse out there. The Magical Girl show is a way to get money... and a bit of amusement out of all this.

Sheepie: Just how long have you been on this kind of job?

Lazy cat: I started as a standar minion, but I managed to not get killed long enough to get promoted, I got lucky and survived a Magical Girl by the idiot tripping into a teleportacion trap... and since half of her was outside the trap... she barely survived. Suddenly I was the minion who severely mained a Magical Girl forcing Order to put a Deux Ex Machidna to save her!

Sheepie: Let me guess she had a clumsy flaw, right?

Lazy cat: Most likely. Then I survived the next hundreds of years due to the use of traps, puppets, and even corrupting a cat girl themed Magical Girl to laziness... then I got stuck in the Dark Magical Girl project and... something happened. The world changed and that. Dunno what happened to that catgirl...

Sheepie: Why are you letting me know all this?

Lazy cat: We are sharing a bed, so I decided I could tell you a few things.
