Keira waves happily to Jane from across your room, then enters while looking around and playing with things on your shelves.

“I’m here because I have business with H...John.” She crosses her legs and adjusts her hands. It reminds you of when your mom was going for a promotion and she took a course on public speaking and power poses. “I want your moon stone.”

Even you forgot that you had it. You reach into your bag to take it out. Yup, there it is.

“What do you say, Herb? Shall we battle for it? My newest pokemon against yours? Name your wager.”

“I’ll battle you.” Laki steps in front.

“You don’t have anything I want and I’ve beaten you enough times.” Jane tries to wave Laki out of the way so she can go back to keeping eye contact with you.

“Okay here you-” Wait a minute. You could swear you gave it to her before. Yeah! You did! Oh. The rock you have is the one your brother gave you. This is a moon stone, too? It’s shaped differently, but you guess the texture is the same. “What happened to the other one?”

“I don’t have it anymore. I need your other one.”

“Did you use it? You have two pokemon that evolve using a moon stone?” Keira asks while keeping her eyes on a snow globe you had on a dresser. She shakes it and gasps.

“No. Look, it’s a long story. It doesn’t matter. I need the other one for my pokemon.”

You look down at it. Normally you’d be fine helping her out, but this was a gift from your brother.

“HERB!” You turn around to see him, right on queue. He runs in and hugs you, and you pat him on the head. Your pokemon all scramble out of the way at first. Dice curiously sniffs him.

“Hey. Everyone, this is my little brother.” You make the introductions. He’s amazed at Keira’s facepaint, thinks Jane looks really cool, and asks Laki if she’s Jane’s mom or aunt. Laki, to her credit, grinds out a smile and says that she isn’t. “Umm, Jane. It might not be that simple. See, this stone was a gift from my brother here.”

“Stone?” He looks up at it. “Oh yeah! Are you going to use it? Are we going to see a pokemon evolve? Can I watch? Please? Oh wow your clothes are so cool. You must be a strong trainer!”

You give Jane a look to see how she feels about evolving her pokemon in front of your brother

She turns her head. Her face looks a little crimson. “I don’t mind, but I haven’t earned it yet.”

“Oh. Well, if it’s okay with him, then you can have it.”

“Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I wanna see it!” He bounces around. He’s normally not so lively, but you guess all the pokemon and trainers are really bringing it out of him. “Please?”

You reach out to give it to Jane, but she keeps her hand back. “I can’t just accept it without something in return. I’ve...had a lesson in principles recently.” Huh. So did you. Did she run into that gentleman as well?”

when we get the chance, we should really train our pokemon, stats, they have enough moves, it's just their stats don't really help that much at the moment , especially best rock, they have been suffering because we keep training them on how to fly, when they should be training something like attack or defence so they have some way to fight.

I'm going to rathe that as "strongly disagree" Mace needs sandstorm and explosion, Gobble has moved he can miss if he doesn't learn them before he evolves, and Bella still hasn't learned magical leaf, let alone moves like ingrain or synthesis. Dice will be good for a while though.

by that point he is going to be considerably weaker than all our other pokemon, we are spending so much time trying to teach him one thing that he is going to be lacking a good foundation to use his flying ability on. what happens when he does learn fly, but can barley damage his opponent, you can't win a fight just by dodging.

She hesitates. “It still feels one-sided.”

“Well, you can owe him a favor then.”

Both your brother and Jane look at you, then to each other. He lights up. She doesn’t give the usual glare of disgust or distrust.

“What would you want?”

He almost runs in place. “Can you teach my first pokemon a cool move? When I get one. I bet you’ve got lots.”

She mulls it over. “That seems fair.”

He holds his hand out to shake hers. She returns it, then he holds his hand high for a high five. She indulges that too, but tries to do it quickly so you don’t see.

Keira opens a drawer and takes out...your drawers. She stretches the elastic.

“Alright. That’s enough.” Laki closes it before she can search around some more. “Let’s evolve that pokemon.”

“Jane, did you meet Mr. Hoilo too?” You ask.

She pauses. “What?”

“Well, something you said reminded me of-”

“He was talking about you?” She paces. “Oh. You crafty...you...oh!” She paces harder. “Ha. Exactly what I should have expected from my rival. I come to see your family, but you’ve met my grandfather first. Well played. But I’m positive I’ve learned more about you than you did about me.”

“Is anyone thirsty? Hungry?” Your mom comes in with snacks and lemonade. She seems so much less stressed than when you came home. “Are you staying for dinner? Staying over for the night?”

Jane pauses. She looks like she hadn’t even considered that. “I wouldn’t want to impose.” Her smile says otherwise.

“Oh. It’s fine. As long as you don’t mind the foldout, there should be room for everyone.”

Jane bows and thanks your mom. Keira and Laki, not wanting to be rude, follow suit. Your mom puts down the tray and does the same. “Oh, am I doing it right? We’ve had some training on local customs but the last while has been a blur.”

Keira assures her it’s fine. You see your mom wants to ask about Keira’s general appearance, but she holds back.

You, the girls, and your brother head to the back yard where Jane plans on evolving her pokemon. Your pokemon all sit around and watch as things get set up. They all seem interested, but for different reasons. Belladonna is excited and a little jealous to see someone evolve. She’s eager to get to the next stage. Gobble is just generally curious. Mace doesn’t think it’s a good idea, but doesn’t feel it’s his place to get involved. Dice waddles up to the Nidorina and gives it a good sniff over, opens his mouth to chomp, but stops himself.

Your brother is sitting on the stone fence beside you, kicking his legs in anticipation. He seems instantly taken with Jane.

Jane says what sounds like a little prayer, checks with Keira and gets a nod, then taps Nidorina with the stone. For a second, nothing happens. Then there’s an explosion of light.

The transformation is glorious. A lightshow in the dying sunlight contrasted against the dark grass and cobblestone fence of your lush backyard. This house really is pretty great. Big upgrade from your last house.

The light pulses and glows. You have to squint. For a second, you see a really happy smile on Jane’s face.

The last pulse almost blinds you. There’s no physical force, but it still feels like you’re being pushed back. Jane nods approvingly at her new Nidoqueen. Your brother yells in amazement almost in sync with Keira. Laki even shows a small grin.

Bella tugs your arm and points.

“Yeah. I saw it. Pretty amazing, huh?” You pat her on the head.

Jane and your brother talk. He laughs and looks up at her. You really hope she’s not putting ideas in his head. Before you can give it much thought, Keira slides up from behind.

“Are you okay?”

“What do you mean?”

“Iunno.” She plays with the stone. “You seem a little different today. Something in your brain?”

You hope not. “On my mind?”

She nods. “Yeah. Something on your mind?”

Also on this point, Mace will have an easier time flying if he has more energy to spend. So its best to wait for him to be stronger.

To be fair, I think early on we said our goal was just to explore. But soon we'll need a direction to explore in next.

We challenged the electric gym I think to try it, the fire gym so that we didn't miss the special event, and the poison gym to do so with Polu. Becoming Maema or challenging Pohoa were things we sort of got roped into. A lot of the rest of what we've done has been in support of our friends.

I'd like to see Herb pursue cooking in some specific way, (learning traditional recipies/inventing worry seed coffee) or seeking a healing sensei.

“That’s good. But do you have a desire to be a stronger trainer for yourself, too? In your mind, is it an obligation to your pokemon, or something you want to enjoy and improve alongside them?.

“Umm, sorry. I didn’t mean to be rude. We get a lot of training at the temple for when people are dealing with death, since it’s a time when they look over where they’re going in life. It’s a reflex.”

“No. It’s fine. That’s not the only thing on my mind though. I swear I didn’t have that much money before. The money I gave to my mom, I mean.”

Keira looks over at Laki for some reason. “Umm. Hmm.”

You look at her. She smiles and looks away. “That’s not really any of my business.”

“Okay.” Even you can see how suspicious that is. “And I guess I don’t know what I’m doing, either. Everyone is working towards a goal. I just wanted to explore at first, and now that I’ve been out there, I feel like I should be working towards more. What’s my goal after working off the rod?”

She puts a hand on your shoulder. “So keep doing what you’re doing. There’s nothing wrong as long as you’re enjoying life. You never know when it’s going to stop.” Keira pulls herself up and goes to the others.

That’s a nice sentiment. Well, that last part is a little unnerving, but you get what she means. Maybe you’re worrying too much about what you should be doing. You guess others can relate to that. Valerie and Hana get worried a lot about that sort of thing too.

Oh yeah! Hana! She was going to send pictures so you could give her advice on what to wear with that skirt. You check your pokedex and find a whole load of messages and files. You must have had it on silent.

Let’s see. Hana in stockings and that skirt. Different stockings and that skirt. Some nice kneesocks. More kneesocks. Huh, these pictures are showing more and more leg. And another. Oh jeez, you can see panties in this one. And all the ones after. She’s showing it from behind now. You guess it does give a good view of the kneesocks. She must not realize how much she’s showing per picture and just sending them as soon as she takes them.

“I’ll be back in a bit.” You tell the others. They barely respond. Looks like Laki and Jane might have a pokemon battle after all and that’s taking everyone’s attention. You head up to your room and load up the video.

Let’s see. Hana Is modelling some of the socks. Smiling at the camera. She keeps heading to the other room and coming back in slightly less clothes each time. Then there’s a knock on there door. Hana answers it and talks to Valerie for awhile. They sit in her room and talk some more. They leave. Huh. This video is hours and hours long. You skip ahead. They leave. They come back. They’re talking and talking. Oh, Valerie is getting changed and Hana is helping zip her up. Oh dear, that’s a lot of Valerie. She tries on a few things. After she leaves, Hana remembers the camera and runs up and fiddles with it. “How do I delete? Is it...oops!”

And that’s the end. You feel a little guilty about that now. That was obviously a mistake sending it.

You put on your nice suit and send her a picture. Yeah, you don’t have the broadest shoulders or anything like that, but this suit makes even you look like a pretty handsome dude.

The two of you head back to the back yard. It looks like Laki lost again. She’s taking it better than before, but Jane is rubbing it in a little.

She glances over to you. Her mouth doesn’t open, but she’s asking a question. Do you want to throw down?

“Nidoqueen!” Jane takes a moment to enjoy saying that name. “Use Thunderbolt! Oh, that’s right Herb. Don’t think we’d be unprepared for a water type!”

“Dice! Scary Face!”

The two pokemon leap into action. That Nidoqueen is fast for it’s size, too! It lowers it’s horn, very quickly gathers it’s energy around it’s horn, and fires. Oh no! Dice is in mid air!

But Dice forms his body into a circle, almost biting his own tail. The beam passes through harmlessly despite it’s zig-zaggy shape. He lands in front of Nidoqueen with a spin using his tail for a counterweight, and gives it the most terrifying glare you could imagine.

“W-what!” Even Jane looks startled. Nidoqueen isn’t just slowed down, she’s stunned! Unless Jane gets incredibly lucky and snaps Nidoqueen out of it, you’ve got the perfect opportunity to strike without repercussions!
