You are Karn, one such Saiyan fighter. Born on planet Vegeta, you were raised during the Saiyan-Tuffle War, one of those weaklings your very first kill. As a Saiyan Brawler, in combat you dominate physical combat. Punches, kicks, grapples, headbutts, and other means are how you get things done. While you can still toss a mean energy attack, it's not how you do business. Tatsu is a warrior and combat veteran of the Saiyan-Tuffle War. Oldest member of the team, with the coolest head on his shoulders and decades of combat under his armor. Sometimes he feels that he's getting too old for this shit.

It seems you've finally gotten to her, as when you swing she catches your forarm with both of her hands, and with a twist and dropping to one knee she throws you over her shoulders to land hard on the training room floor.

After quickly assembling your team, Leyas carrying a rather comically large slab of meat with him "for the trip" as he put it, you all enter the Operations Room together, to be greeted by your commander.
"Took you lot long enough, ready for your next mission?" Commander Cui asks, as you walk into the operations room.
"That last planet barely even put up a fight, I want a challenge for a change." Meloka boasts.
"Hmph, well you will certainly get your wish, monkey," Cui replies. "We currently have three planets up for conquering."
"The first is Planet Sardus. The Greys conquered the planet several years ago with their advanced technology. The Greys are a weak people, averaging a 25 power level. But they are quite numerous and technologically advanced."
Then there is Planet Dun, a desert world rich in minerals. The creatures that thrive there are barely-sentient lizards, but the average power level is 1500."
Lastly, there is Planet Wass. It's a jungle world, but we don't have much more than that on this one. Long-range scanners can't get a consistant read, and the last guys we sent in got slaughtered, some kind of 'ghost' was picking them off one by one. So, which'll you be taking?"

On your way to platform 5, you review what you've heard of the inhabitants of Dun. A large, reptillian species, the natives of Dun are strong warriors in their own right, but limited by their lack of intelligence. With no technology, even at the level of a scouter's radio, their world is primitive and savage. The strong rule and the weak are eaten. A perfect world for a bunch of Saiyans such as yourselves.

"Leyas, with me," you order, "Tatsu, Meloka, scouters on, tell me what you can find."
"Sir!" Tatsu barks out, while Meloka throws a mocking, half-assed salute. As they begin scouting powerlevels, you and Leyas fly straight up to assess the area.

To the north, you see what appears to be a rather odd mountain with wierd rock formations jutting out along it in a line.
To the south you see a large gathering of the native creatures, too far away to make out clearly. But there are plenty of them, and would probably be a good fight.
To the west, nothing is visible for miles and miles except more rocks and sand, and what appear to be craters.
To the East, you see what appears to be a temple.

Landing back beside your other teammates, Tatsu tells you what they found.
"To the North, theres a powerlevel of 6000. Plus something else, fluctuating between 5000 and 15000. Never seen something like that."
To the South, "Meloka interjects, "There are about 30 creatures with a powerlevel of around 500, and five distinct 2000 power levels."
"To the West," Tatsu continues, "is nothing. No signs of life whatever.
And to the East, there is a single powerlevel of 5000, a pair of 3000s, and a dozen or so 1700s.
"So what should we do, start eating some lizard?" Leyas asks.
"I think you meant beating, stupid." Meloka states.
"No I meant eating!" Leyas yells back. "I'm hungry."

Several minutes of silent flying later, you find a rather large herd of the locals. With powerful hind legs and tail, and large powerful snout horn, these creatures are dangerous...
To lesser beings. As Saiyans, each of these large beasts look like walking targets.
"How're we doing this?" Tatsu asks. "Just fire down on them from here?"
"Nah we should just jump down there and see what they can do!" Leyas responds.

"About time! Yeeeeeaaaaaah!!" Leyas yells, diving directly into the center of the group and starting the carnage. Following more slowly, you drift down, one of the braver or dumber creatures leaping up at you. As it races toward you, you simply lean back, it's momentum carrying it past you. Landing in a circle of angry faces, you simply stand, arms crossed, daring them to attack. Several attempt to rush you at once, you grab the fastest by the horn and spin it in a circle, knocking the others back into the rest of them. The one in your grip tries to bring its hind legs' claws to bear on you, you simply toss the beast up skyward, legs and small arms flailing wildly.
Looking over towards your ally, Leyas is creating a storm of devestation, pieces and chunks of the beasts going everywhere. Looking up, Tatsu is blasting several of the larger beasts, creating openings for Leyas to exploit violently.
A roar brings you back into focus, a larger beast charging you. As it leans down to crush you in its jaws, you casually leap over its snout, swiftly burying your fist to the elbow between its eyes, killing it instantly.

"We're on our way, meet us at the pods then lead us there." You order. "Alright everyone, lets move!" You order Tatsu and Leyas, flying back towards the pods, tracking Meloka's progress with your scouter.

Arriving at the pods, Meloka's already there and looks shaken.
"What did you find?" Tatsu asks, sounding oddly compassionate for a Saiyan.
"Just, come on already." Meloka says impatiently, taking to the air. "Something's been here, and I don't know if we can take it."
"Just because you can't fight for shit doesn't mean the rest of us can't take it down!" Leyas taunts her.
Meloka's lack of response or even acknowledgement tells you something is wrong. Must have been something really disturbing.
Her lack of response doesn't go unnoticed, and the rest of the trip goes by in silence. Arriving upon the ruins, you notice nothing out of the ordinary. You've done this to several planets, this sight doesn't bother you in the slightest.
"What am I looking at?" you ask Meloka.
"There." she points, and then you see it.
an absolutely massive footprint, with the crushed, armored corpses of two Saiyans visible in the center.

This is worrying. Two mid-level Saiyans, judging by their armor, were crushed underfoot like insects. Something here was able to take down some of your kin, and that bastard Cui didn't even warn you. This changes things considerably.
"So what do we do now?" Meloka asks you.
"I say we take to orbit and wait for the full moon, then come back down and destroy everything that moves." Tatsu states.
"Fuck that, we know where several of these bastards are. Let's beat the answers out of them!" Leyas says.
"What are we gonna do?" Meloka asks you.

Leaving the ruins behind, the four of you fly east silently for an hour, each deep in thought, until he temple becomes visible.
A rather impressive structure, built to the scale of the large natives, you all come to a stop above the temple. Looking down in the courtyard, it seems that several of the weaker creatures are doing some sort of martial arts drill under the direction of one of the stronger ones, the rest seem to be inside under the dome.
"So how're we doing this?" Meloka asks you.
"Blast a hole in the roof, charge in and get some answers." says Leyas angrily.
"No, let's land in the courtyard and ask, looks like these have some level of intelligence." Tatsu states.
"What do you think?" Meloka asks you?

After a few seconds, everyone is ready and fires simultaneously at the dome. With a mighty crack, the dome crumbles and falls inward and your blasts strike the insides of the temple. Your scouter tells you that four of the six weaker powerlevels inside have disappeared, as well as the 3000 one inside the dome. As you all dash towards the now-opened temple, a massive blast of energy flies up towards your group, forcing you all to scatter. This delay allowed the creatures in the courtyard to fly up towards your group, between you and the dome.
"You won't get to the Speaker!" the largest of the winged creatures tells your group. "You'd better leave our world before you all end up like those last invaders."

The one talking to you has a powerlevel of 3000, the rest surrounding your group in a loose sphere of bodies are each between 1600 and 1800, but there are 12 of them. The three others are still in the dome's ruins, along with that monster at 5000.

You grab him around the head, and you both lock arms.

You dash towards the leader, meeting his charge in a flurry of punches, kicks, and tail-strikes. Despite the difference in your powerlevels, you are able to keep up in close fighting. That is, until a blast hits you in the back from one of the weaker ones, scorching your armor and knocking you off-balance. Taking full advantage of this situation, the monster quickly scores a left cross then a right jab across your face, followed up with a kick to your gut. Flipping quickly, the leader finishes his attack and slaps you out of the air, landing hard enough on the ground to create a small crater. As the creature descends, you glance up at your team who are not faring much better. Leyas is carving a path through the beasts, but is quickly getting seperated from the others and surrounded. Tatsu and Meloka are fightig back-to back. Both have taken a few hits each, but are standing fast, holding their own for now.
"You apes are all the same." the leader taunts your lying form. "Always thinking so highly of yourselves, but cannot back your bravado. And now you die here."

Standing quickly, you dust yourself off and take a defensive stance. This creature isn't like the helpless ones you slaughtered before. This beast knows how to fight.
"So you Can teach an ape something." it chuckles to itself, before dashing at you again. It is telegraphing a right hook, so you prepare to move. Right before the beast reaches you, it frontflips, swinging its' tail quickly downward towards you. Leaping out of the way, you left yourself too open, and its follow-up right hook catches you in the jaw, sending you flying. As you regain control and stop your backwards flight, you get grabbed from behind from one of the weaker ones. Before you can escape, the leader dashes in again, landing a crusing blow to your gut. Your armor cracks and you slump in your captor's arms, coughing up blood.
"This is your end, ape." the leader tells you. "Any last words?"
"Just two more," you reply.

"Wha-" the beasts start, but don't have time to finish that thought before a wave of energy explodes forth from you, throwing them both back. Before they can regain their feet, Leyas dropps from the air, crushing the weaker one's skull with a powerful stomp.
"You having trouble?" He asks you, eyes on the leader as it regains its feet.
"He's strong as I am, but his friends keep getting in my way." you reply, standing and panting, trying to catch your breath.
You see the beast regain its' feet looking more pissed than hurt.

You glance to Leyas, both nodding at each other. The monster looks back and forth between the two of you, not sure which one to charge at first. You save it the trouble, both dashing straight at the beast.
Quickly assuming a defensive stance, it prepares to block both of you. Right before contact, you cut left while Leyas dashes right. Unsure who to follow, the beast takes to the air to attempt to keep you both in sight. You dash to pursue, while Leyas cuts back toward where you launched from. Closing to grips with the leader, you again exchange a flurry of blows, neither landing a solid hit.
Perfect.
With you holding the beast's attention, Leyas sneaks up on it and quickly locks its arms in a full nelson.
"Wha-" it starts, but is cut off when your fist sinks into its gut. You send a quick flurry of heavy punches into the beasts ribs, hard enough to make the leader cough up blood with every few strikes. Eventually it breaks free of Leyas' weaker grip, but before it can retaliate, you throw a cross, catching the beast off guard and sending him straight into a brutal combo from Leyas before he knocks the beast back to you. After a quick flurry of punches, you send the beast crashing to the ground with a double axe handle.

With the advantage securely in your hands, you need to end this, now. Charging energy into both palms, you prepare to use the move you spent months learning in the pod; the dual energy waves.
Seeing what you're planning, Leyas also starts charging his energy into his palm, preparing to blast the beast where it lays.
The monster sees what the two of you are planning, and tries to prepare a blast to counter what it knows is coming. Firig a weak blast towards the pair of you, your three combined waves obliterates the weak attack and tears through its' body with a massive explosion. When the smoke clears, all that is left of the beast is the crater where it fell. You've done it, you finally killed that beast.

"You look like shit." Meloka laughs at you, taking in your beaten body and cracked armor.
"You look like you sat back and watched the whole fight." you shoot back, collapsing onto your back.

"What, keep yelling at me?"

"Hey I was gonna eat that!" Leyas shouts at her, those two exchanging insults yet again while Tatsu walks over to you.
"The 5000 powerlevel creature got away, as well as its underlings," he tells you as you relax and recoup your strength. "They're retreating north towards that larger 7000 powerlevel, probably about halfway there by now. So what are we going to do now?"

If she thinks she's going to try and sleep through her watch, she has another thing coming. Grabbing her by her feet and bracing yourself, you lift and twist clockwise, throwing her into a nearby wall. Throwing her quite harder than you planned, Meloka sails through that wall. And another. And all the way through a third, the commotion waking everyone. You didn't mean to throw her quite THAT hard.
"What the hell asshole?!" Meloka shouts from the other side of the ruins.
"Why did you wake us all up, I was sleeping!" Leyas sleepily yells at you. The effect is somewhat ruined as he yawns during 'sleeping'.
"Guys turn on your scouters, right now!" Meloka shouts as she comes into sight, a completly shocked look on her face.
"What's the big deal?" you ask, as each of your teammates has a shocked face looking at you.
"Y-your power." Leyas stammers. "Its 4825!"
"What? That's bullshit." you say, checking your own scouter. But sure enough, your powerlevel has almost doubled since that last fight. "What the hell happened?"
"Zenkai." Tatsu says, everyone turning to him. "When a Saiyan is beaten to the point of death, upon recovery we are said to gain an increase to our powers. But I never thought it would be this, dramatic."
"Damn." Meloka states. "So now that you're all bulked up, ready to go kick some ass?"

This biggest issue with zenkai is that it requires beaten to the point of near death. This is extremely risky for obvious reasons and trying to force and abuse it will most likely get us killed. Let's just let it happen naturally. Bardock was extremely successful with it, simply fighting his hardest while getting stronger through healing tank after a hard mission. We should just do the same and try to stick to the challenging stuff.

Knowing the battle ahead is going to be difficult. with at least two different powerlevels still stronger than you, you decide the most pertinent course of action is to enjoy a meal. Chowing down on cooked Dun-ites, you and Leyas quickly eat a light meal (for Saiyans) while Meloka and Tatsu work on that grapple you'd finally managed to teach her. It seems the newfound gap in your powers has motivated her to work that much harder. Good. Once the ten minutes are up, you all take to the air together, flying north towards the two powers of 7000 and 5000, and that still odd fluctuating powerlevel. The battle will be tough, but you are now stronger than ever before, and confident in yourself and your team.

I really like it so far, happy to see a new quest with I got so into so fast, and don't get discouraged if it wasn't a huge turnout, people are always wary of the first thread dying on them mid session. As you all flew north together, you noticed another perk of your newfound power: you're fast. Using what felt like your usual effort, you initially left your teammates in the dust. When you noticed you'd left your teammates in the dust, you waited for them to catch back up.
"Slow down, save some energy for the fight." Meloka scolds, jealousy practically oozing from her. "Getting there first doesn't matter. Asshole."
When you tell your team that that took no more effort that usual, only Tatsu didn't seem surprised. But for the rest of the trip you kept pace with your team.

You all have been flying north for an hour and a half, but you've finally made it to the oddly-shaped mountain. But it seems your trip has been noticed somehow, as the 7000 powerlevel is rapidly gaining altitude towards your group.

"We're going past whatever is coming this way, and taking out that 5000 powerlevel creature first." you tell your team. "We really can't fight both of them at the same time, so we'll handle the weaker one first."
This is answered by a chorus of "Sir!"s, and you all prepare to dive as soon as the rapidly closing beast gets here. As its' golden heads break through the clouds, your team dives to the ground with all the speed they can muster.
As quick as you move, the beast unleashes waves of energy from its' mouths, forcing your team to weave through them on your descent. As you hurl yourself towards the planet's surface, you notice a giant golden tail swipe up from the beast, catching Tatsu and Leyas and sending them hurdling back toward the golden beasts' heads.
"Tatsu!" Meloka shouts, her objective forgotten as she attempts to turn back.
"They'll be fine, keep moving!" you shout to her, "Sooner we kill the smaller one down here, sooner we can go help them."

"R-right!" Meloka says back, continuing the descent towards the temple's leader. As you near the ground, you see the elusive beast from yesterday for the first time. An oddly-shaped beast, for those of this planet, it a red, beaked creature, that doesn't look like much. But your scouter says it is a match for even your newfound strength. Rocketing towards the ground, the beast appeara to sense your approach. Turning its head towards the two of you, it makes no moves and appears to be waiting on you both to land.
