You're finally back home.

You haven't been here in Tianna that long, actually, but it feels like it's been years already. When did you start thinking of this island as your "home" over Gem, the place where you were born, the place where you grew up?

And yet, you already have a lot of good (and a lot of not-so-good) memories about the West already.

Your trip back here has been no less adventurous than your first trip from there to Gem. even with the wonderful Azure Chariot spell, taking you four days of flight over the vast ocean, spending the nights wherever you could stay without drawing attention.

Even so, Zareen, Mikahil, and... most of your "new friends" from Gem stayed behind.

Valeriana and Aexel, your two available sorcerors with mastery of that particular spell, just dropped you off here in Tianna. They will leave for Gem again tomorrow, to pick up the second flight.

Other than the wood-aspect and the eclipse-caste, they need to load up Hotau and Ayzir, the two slaves that Arras Sahlak "gifted" you as a souvenir (and memento for the beautiful nights spent together), and Engine of Salvation, the Alchemical Exalted who you just barely convinced to not move war against Creation.

...As well as loading their chariots with all sort of riches, in gold and gems, that Tianna's coffers sorely needed.

It's about sunset when finally Valeriana drops her passengers off in Pearl: you, Tia, and your new pet Ari.

Ari has been... quite well-behaved on the trip back home. You were worried that being loaded on a magical chariot flying at huge speeds through the sky over the ocean would make him crabby, but he tolerated it remarkably well. His wounds are slowly healing, though he will probably keep a few scars. You need to take good care of him now.

As Valeriana and the others, dead tired from the trip, make a bee-line straight for their rooms and beds in Golden Reach, you spend a moment on Pearl's beachside, staring at the setting sun with Tia and Ari at your side.

"See?" You turn to your husband with a smile, remembering her paranoia from just before the trip. "Meeting my dad wasn't so terrible after all."

"I was so scared." She admits, clinging close to you. And Tia doesn't admit that easily.

"Nothing to be nervous about." You put an arm around her back. "We're here together. I'm here with you."

You spend some time relaxing and watching the breath-taking sunset on the ocean together. After how frenetic everything has been recently, taking it easy for at least some time sounds like the perfect idea.

Once the sun is beyond the waves, you stand up and dust the sand off yourself. You don't feel sleepy yet.

So, back in Tianna, at last. What should you do first?

>I need to see Amata. I miss her.
>Quality time with Tia.
>Let's see how Pearl is shaping up.
>Is Five Tails still in hiding? What is going on with that girl?
>Better check that Silk didn't do anything inappropriate.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. Queen of Gem, now ruling the western island of Tianna. You have gathered a vast amount of allies and friends, and defeated every threat to Tianna up to now, though not without difficulty.
You recently discovered that Tianna is actually an artificial island, built around a First Age Titan: an almighty flying fortress. Your forces have crushed the Bodhisattva Anointed by Dark Water, a Deathlord who tried to usurp its power for himself.
And now, on the day of your wedding, the Unconquered Sun Himself appeared to you and crowned you Princess of Creation, asking you to be an example for others in these dark times.
After securing the alliance of the nearby realm of Neck (or Okeanos, as they prefer to be called), you returned to your homeland of Gem to put your own family back on the throne, crashed a wedding, and avoided an interdimensional war with a machine world called Autochton. One of their champions, an Alchemical Exalted called Engine of Salvation, will be staying with you to make sure you uphold your promises. In exchange for peace, you will help them save their dying world, either by providing raw materials or by finding the legendary Eye of Autochton.
It's fine. it's not like you have a lot on your plate already...

>Solar? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google "1d4chan exalted".

A few words on my circumstances.

I'm hitting a very busy spot in my life, so after this thread there will be a brief pause, probably until around halfway into next month.

In any case, after trying Akun with Exalted Sidequest, i think I've gotten the hang of it.

I have a lot less free time than what I had when I first started Exalted Quest. Making and following threads on /qst/ takes up quite some time, and this troubles me.

I've decided to move Exalted Quest to Akun. This is not due to any sort of innate dissatisfaction with /qst/, which I will continue to consider one of my core 4chan boards, mind you. I don't even exclude the diea of one day running something else here.

But, as of how my life is now, moving Exalted Quest to Akun would make things much easier on me. I hope you'll understand, and will be willing to follow me over.

Together with the move, I've decided to change the game system slightly, making charms and Essence management simpler and more streamlined. I'll talk about this change some other time - since we're not using those particular changes in this specific thread.

As usual, if you have any question, feel free to ask me, here or on twitter, ask.fm, Akun, or wherever, and thank you.

We can do all the important Queen-y things in the morning and we can ask her if anything huge went down while we were away.

Nice to have you back EF, even if it is just one last time on here. Will this be another week-long thread like last time?

I'll try and keep it more intense. Dedicate maybe a few days to it nearly full-time. But I can't make promises, and that's the core of the problem.

Here's the calendar.

As a heads up, this thread will mostly be about tying up loose ends before the jump, and to offer some space to plan a considerable downtime.

Exalted Quest is long overdue for some downtime where Tianna and Pearl can be developed, long-term plans can be made, politics and economics can happen, and so and so.

Also, because it's a question that has been asked me often: Exalted Quest on Akun will have about the same NSFW level as it does on 4chan. That is, "debatable but very low". I might take a few more freedoms on a site that does not abide by "blue board rules", but that's it.

"Exalted Sidequest", on the other hand, will have no such restriction. Right now, the story it's doing is rather sfw, but in general it will use its "sidequest" status to go a little beyond the "main quest"'s standards.

As a mildly related issue, the downtime planned for this thread would also be the ideal moment to fill in Maka's new five costume slots. Or, rather, four, considering one for ReiDuran's art piece.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Forgot to mention: it's also possible to replace some costumes outright. If there's something in the current lineup that you don't like, say so, and if there's a very strong consensus for that i'll just take it down.

It's a wardrobe, it's meant to be changed.
>>
>>1512877
It's just a mix of how Akun's structured, that I only care about your quest there and would just bookmark it, as well as my experience with the Sidequest until now that lead to my prediction.

>I'm hitting a very busy spot in my life

more than understandable and if the structure of Akun is more supportive of the challenges you face, just go for it

"I'm going to see Amata." You inform Tia, while both heading into Golden Reach. The warm glowing lights of your palace welcome you. "Are you coming?"

"I really want to see her too, yes." She nods, thoughtful. "Though I'm also worried about the Black Fangs. I've been gone for a while. I hope they're all right."

You honestly admit to yourself that you would've never thought that Tia could do the job of tribal chief, or take it seriously rather, Instead, every time Tia mentions the Black Fangs, that tribe of local barbarians that she led into battle against the Fae and that later elected her chief, you feel a bit proud for her.

You reach into Elsewhere and produce your Swift Rider, in its portable mode. "With this, or will you carry me?" You ask.

She smiles. "I'd rather ride with you." Tia answers, mellowly.

She's in a good mood tonight.

Not Tia's usual "good mood" written in scare quotes, which usually means rowdy, horny, and violent. Genuinely good. You guess all the tension of meeting up with your father and the fear of his disapproval melted away.

You climb atop your Swift Rider, and Tia hangs on to you from behind as you push the throttle and blaze through the night, across the brand new road connecting Pearl and Tianna City.

The ride is not overly long, and leaves you time to think. You don't have anymore narrow deadlines or impending dooms right now, at least for another season. You're doing well in every way.

Maybe the big crises are over and you'll finally have some time to take it easy in Tianna.

A random thought strikes your head. "...Say, Tia?"

"Yes?" She asks from just behind you. In the roar of the wind, her words come more like a vibration from her chest to yours than as real talking.

"I, uh. I didn't say anything on the trip back home because, well... I thought you were doing it for some particular reason."

You feel a puzzled pause coming from her. "What?"

"You're still black." You hold back a giggle. Did she forget?

She had changed her skin color to somewhere close to your own tone when you first arrived in Gem, both to draw less attention and to offer her more protection from the heat and the fierce southern glare. When, on the last day, she "went for a walk" outside, in the searing sun of the desert, she shifted to an even darker tone.

And she's kept that on her trip back, and still has that, even here in relatively northern Tianna.

Well, it's not like it changes much. Tianna has warm and mild weather for most of the year, and people of all sort of skin colors live in the region...

"I forgot." She cheerfully admits. "Should I change back? How do you like me more?"

>Stay like this. It reminds me of home.

Actually, is that even her "real" skin color either? I never really though about it before, but Tia is from the East, and skin that pale is normally indicative of the North.

"I'll take the original." You answer. "It's the one that's... you. You had it when we first met. I can't help but think of you looking like that."

You feel her nod in reply, and her hands (the only part of her you can see right now) change to their usual color.

Once you reach Tianna, you make for the palace. It seems nothing dramatic happened while you were away. The city is still standing at least.

...You've learned not to take anything for granted.

You wheel into the castle courtyard, and find Amata sitting there, on a bench, leisurely reading a small book. She closes it as soon as she hears you arrive, with a wry smile.

"...You were waiting for me?" You're not sure if you should be surprised. You did inform her of your return, but not that you'd come to Tianna City right away...

"I have my tricks." She replies, taking your hand and lightly tugging on it, inviting you inside. "Everyone's been missing you, you know."

Despite the late hour, both Samiel and Irene are awake, waiting for you in the dinner room. They clap at your and Tia's arrival.

"You're back!"

"How did it go?"

"You'll have to tell us everything!"

The table is filled with all that a light meal would need, including hot tea, pastries and cakes, fresh bread and spiced wine. They're making such a production out of this.

Well, every excuse is good for a dinner together. You and Tia sit down, and regale them with an account of all that happened in Gem.

Samiel seems more interested in the city itself, drinking up all of your descriptions of locales that are, to him, strange and exotic. Irene, predictably, is ecstatic at the mention of the Alchemical Exalted and their strange technology, and starts interrupting you with technical questions that go way above and beyond your ability to give answers to.

Amata is silent, but listens intently to every word. It slowly dawns on you an uneasy feeling. Are you being interrogated, under this guise of a cheerful dinner and a "welcome back" party?

...Or is that just how it always is with Sidereals?

(cont.)
>>
When you finish both eating dinner and telling stories, dawn is approaching. Samiel and Irene return to their rooms to get at least some sleep before tomorrow comes knocking at their doors, and you remain alone with Amata and Tia.

"I thought you wanted to know a lot more about the Alchemicals." You admit, surprised by how quiet she's been.

"I do." Is her reply. "But I don't think they told you the sort of details I'd like to know. The size of their armies, geography of their world, and such."

You shake your head.

"And in any case, one of them will be here next week, right?" She continues, with nonchalance. "I'll just ask her."

"Be gentle with her." You say, only halfway joking. "She's a bit on the tough side."

"Oh, I'm tough as well, you know." She grins. "That doesn't mean I don't know how to be gentle." She turns to Tia. "Speaking of which, you've had Maka to yourself for the entire trip. Can you leave her to me for a couple days?"

You lift an eyebrow, witnessing the exchange between your two spouses.

"We didn't do much." Tia complains. "It was always... work, run, hide, fight, talk with people, don't draw attention, don't flare your anima..."

"Still, I didn't have any Maka at all for the last two weeks!" Amata replies, grabbing your right arm and pulling you at her side.

"I'm not a skin care product." You weakly protest, but the two are already making arrangements on your behalf.

"Alright." Tia concedes. "You get Maka for yourself for two days, then we go back to sharing."

"I'll transfer my exclusive Maka rights back the day after tomorrow, then. Thank you for being reasonable, Tia."

These girls, honestly.

"I'll go check on the Black Fangs and on Five Tails, then." Tia excuses herself. "Have fun, you two."

You're left alone in the empty dinner room. Amata gingerly takes your hand and invites you to follow her.

"So, what did you want me for, mistress?" You joke, letting yourself be gently dragged along. "A massage? Watching the sunrise together on the beach? ...A bath?"

"Oh, all those things sound beautiful. But we had our fill of classy quality time spent together in a sophisticated manner during our honeymoon in the Neck, right?"

"I guess?" She leads you up to the door of her bedroom.

She slams it open, revealing silken sheets, feather pillows, scented candles and mood lighting. She's been preparing this for quite some time while you were gone, it seems.

"I just thought I'd take a page from Tia's book, for once, and bang the living daylights out of you to satisfaction." She proudly states. "Now get that outfit on. You know the one."

Two days later...

You return to Pearl with a refreshed, happier, shinier Amata.

According to her, Tianna City doesn't really need her to pay particularly close attention to day-to-day administration right now, and she just wants to properly tour the new city of Pearl and give her opinion on how things are coming along.

Millian, Regis and Pyre Spark finally welcome you back home properly. They've been worried, of course, and Pyre even suggests throwing a large festival in town to celebrate your success in Gem!

It sounds like hassle right now, honestly, so you try and put her down politely.

it seems Pearl has been peaceful, too. Well, except for a weird, winged Fair Folk that arrived a few days back. Regis informs you that she "claimed to have been sent by you, Maka. But not a lot of what she said made much sense. Anyway, Silk dealt with her. We haven't seen her around since."

No one seems to be particularly worried by that. "Good riddance", it seems.

Speaking of which, you wonder if Silk is okay. She usually takes you leaving for an extended amount of time fairly hard...

After dealing with the pleasantries, you walk up to the door to Silk's room/alternate reality and slam it open unceremoniously.

last time this place was filled with her goblin-maids throwing tantrums (and brooms) at you, but right now you can't see anyone.

You take a few steps into the strange world of Silk's Wyld. You don't really feel like looking for her... this place looks positively huge, after all.

Usually, she's the one who comes running every time you walk in-

Suddenly, traitorously, from behind, you're slammed and tackled to the ground by one big goopy mass of Silk. Nothing new.

"MAKA! YOU'RE BACK!" The amorphous Fair Folk rejoices, enveloping you in her own particular brand of hug.

"Can we stop doing this every time I show up?" You wonder, trying to wrestle your way out of her viscous body mass.

...Still, she seems a lot better than last time you had to leave her alone for a few days. No tantrums, no rebellious attitude or supervillain complexes...

"...Are you alright, Silk?" You have to wonder, managing to pull free of her.

"Yes!" She replies, cheerful. "Oh, right, thank you for the gift! I've always wanted a pet of my own."

Pet? "I thought you might be feeling alone, what with being, uh, alone, and not allowed to eat people and such, so when I met this other Fae who wanted to, ahem, play, I decided to send her your way."

...Where is Silk keeping her? You have to wonder. You don't see that Fae anywhere.

"It was a great idea!" Silk insists. "It was boring having to play with myself all the time, but now I have a pet to play with!"

...Is this how it normally works between Fae, or is it just Silk?

"Is she alright?" You instinctively ask.

You're not sure how much you care yourself - she's a Fae. Fae are - well, they're not real people.

Every time you tell yourself that, it sounds just wrong, demeaning and insulting, but you also know it's absolutely true.

"Oh, she's alright!" Is Silk's energetic response, as she pulls you into the central palace of her strange cityscape.

"So... you're enjoying having pets? Would you like to have more?"

"Oh, that would be awesome!" She grins. "I'd love to have an entire court all to myself! I'd have so much fun with them."

The first thing you notice as you move beyond the door and into the corridors of the barren building is a pile of maids, neatly stacked up like so much firewood, and about as lively. Does she just turn them on and off at will and stock them in rooms when not in use?

She drags you into a room deeper inside the complex. Here, the white stone surfaces give way to a sort of bluish, oily, slicky matter that feels like Silk herself. Like you're inside her, and standing right next to her at the same time. Every now and then, the floors, ceilings and walls undulate and vibrate and grow something out of them, a tentacle, an arm, a leg, a head, or something weirder. (The heads look all like Silk's, and distressingly expressive on top of that.)

You spot the Amber Herald in the middle of this insane room, suspended in mid-air by a host of bluish, semitransparent tentacles and pseudopods connecting to her from every corner of the room, going into her and out of her from some places you never thought it was possible (and several where you were fairly confident it was). She has a thousand-yard stare, eyes glazed over and unfocused, and a completely blank expression interrupted every few seconds by powerful twitches.

"What... what the hell are you doing to her?" You mutter, staring up at the twitching Fae.

"I'm training her!" Silk replies with her usual cheer.

(cont.)
>>
"...More like breaking her."

"Same thing." She waves a hand at you. (one of the many) "I guess we had a bit of a fight, so I'm making sure it doesn't happen anymore by completely crushing her mind and reprogramming it from scratch the way I like it."

"...A fight?"

"Listen to this!" Silk's voice comes from a different Silk now. The original(?) Silk you walked into this room with has started melting into the pavement, and now you're essentially talking to the room filled with partial Silk bodies you guess. "This girl came here and thought she was supposed to be your pet! Isn't that ridiculous?"

"Um..." You mumble. "...Why is it ridiculous?"

"Well, because I am your pet, right? So I told her that the best she could hope for was being your pet's pet. So she didn't take it well and we had a fight and now I'm remaking her properly, so that she'll know her place. I won't share you with another Raksha!"

You make a mental note of looking for a way to carefully introduce Silk to Ari in a constructive way... sometime later.

>...Alright, you look like you're having fun. Enjoy your new pet! Don't break her beyond repair.
>You're going a bit overboard, Silk. You're both my pets. Of course, you have first place.

I wouldn't mind a YUGE winged lion Ari

>"Wait, what's the point of completely breaking her and retraining her? I thought you were bored because your minions were boring and predictable."
>>
After a few seconds of thoughtful silence, you turn to... well, to "Silk".

"...I have several questions."

"Yes?"

"You said you want to play with people."

"Yes!"

"Why can't you play with your maids?" You gesture to the backroom from earlier, stacked full of maids on stand-by.

"Well, I do play with them a lot, but I made them with my own Glamour. It's essentially like playing with myself, since they just respond to my whims."

"And." You gesture at Amber Herald, suspended in the middle of the room, twitching and unconscious. "What are you doing to her again?"

"I'm reprogramming her into a more obedient pet that will follow my every whim?"

"..."

"...oh."

The twitching stops.

"Silk, did you ever wonder why i leave you relatively free of doing as you wish nowadays?"

"...Because you trust me to not do something bad?"

"...That, true, but also because you're entertaining." You smile. "Let her be herself, and even you'll come to enjoy it, just like I've come to enjoy you being yourself."

"You did change me, though." Silk points out.

You shrug. "A little bit. But just a little bit. Otherwise we wouldn't be having this discussion right now. Right?"

She frowns. "...This is that "logic" thing that you Creation people like so much, right?"

"I guess." You shrug, as she lowers the winged Fae back to ground level.

Her eyes are slowly returning normal, and she's struggling to cling to you. "Ma... ka..."

"There, easy, easy." You pat Herald's head, and she shivers as you touch her. "It's all right now, Silk will play nice now." You glare at her. "Won't you."

"Absolutely!"

Fae sure are a handful.

They must've missed you, too. You wouldn't mind spending a bit of quality time with them as well.

You snap your fingers "Silk? Close the doors and activate your time bottle thing. It's time for the owner to play a bit around with her pets."

Sometimes it's troublesome to be so popular.

See if we can make a library of memories. If it's feasible and what would be needed.
Go check on Five Tails
Prepare a festival to celebrate the second group's return

Seconding. I'd like to know what the agent of Yu Shan has in mind.

I'd also like to take some time to commune with Sol Invictus about all that's happened. Auto and the Alchemicals. Admiral Sand. Plans going forward. We have SIX dots in Mentor and are the Daughter of Hope. I think we're at least allowed to drop in and say hi.

At the very least, he deserves to know what's up with Autochthon, he's practically an Incarna, or at least used to be.
>>
>>1513498
Yeah. He was also the one, according to the Alchemicals manual, who delivered the ultimatum of the Solar Deliberative to Autochthon, which ultimately drove him to leave Creation. Might be interested to learn what happened because of that.

>>1512860
Since you're changing up the system, have you given any thought on how to represent the Great Curse? I know it's been problematic in the past, so I was curious.
>>

>He was also the one, according to the Alchemicals manual, who delivered the ultimatum of the Solar Deliberative to Autochthon, which ultimately drove him to leave Creation.
It's weird what pieces of fluff I do and don't remember. I thought the Ultimatum was delivered by a Twilight Caste. Or a Group of Twilights. I remembered UCS being neutral in the matter.
>>
>>1513357
Let's not forget to hand out those souvenirs we brought back. Also while we're visiting Five Tails maybe we can drop by Zaan and see how those Essence in a bottle are coming along if they;re ready we can give them to our captains along with the booty.
>>
>>1513562
Well, I had to check the manual to be sure. If it were just him, I don't think Sol would have given a fuck, but the Solars were his pride and joy at the time. The Twilights loved Auto more than any other Caste or Exalt type, if I recall, and were saddest at his departure. More than anything, though, I'm really curious what reaction EF's more active UCS is going to have.

>>1513587
Shit. I completely forgot about those. What were we trying to do with them, again? A poor man's Kiss of the Sun or something?
>>
>>1513627
They were a way to unlock essence in mortals.
>>
I just wanted to say that I don't like the essence potion idea. It feels too cheap for what it's worth it.
I'd rather have some intense trials and tests of character to help mortals awaken their essence on their own.
>>
say... do we even know when Tia was born or how old she is?
>>
>>1514027
The few times we've played her and got a look at her stats I think indicated that she was an Elder. The legit kind, not the "cheated their way there early" kind like Maka. Other than that, the only info we really have is what WF said here, >>1513024, that she knew Ma-Ha-Suchi, and that it wasn't pleasant, not that you'd really expect it to be.
>>
>>1514526
You mean the first time we switched POV from Maka? Tia had five dot caps on all her stuff. She's been around longer than Maka, sure, but I don't know of any other source pointing her to Elder Essence. Could be wrong. It's a big archive.
>>
>>1512860
I just wanted to offer a counterpoint to the Anons who are unhappy with the Akun transition. They're entitled to their distaste, but I wanted to let you know that, personally, I enjoy Exalted Quest enough that I'll follow it wherever it needs to go.
>>
>>1515023
Really? I thought she had at least one 6, and no Charm/Artifact to explain it as anything other than age. However, looking back you appear to be correct.
As a side note, I find it unfair that Lunars only have 6 stats to manage rather than 8 like Solars, Abyssals, and even Mortals if Regis's sheet is to be believed.
>>
So I'm thinking of doing a write-up of Maka and Tia lewds for Exaltedfag as a sort of welcoming present to anonkun. Any suggestions are more than welcome from Exaltedfag and other anons, especially concerning ways Tia can abuse her shapeshifting (I'm not well versed in the setting and what mythical beasts exist she might shapeshift (parts of herself) into).
>>
>>1515268
Tia has (canonically) shaped up as a tiger to bang Maka. And tentacles. And...well, a lot of things, including other characters.

>I'm not well versed in the setting and what mythical beasts exist she might shapeshift (parts of herself) into).
Lunar's can change into anything that they have hunted down through a certain ritual. certain charms, called Knacks, widen the range of creatures they are allowed to hunt. They can also modify their various form's appearances with other Knacks, which is why Tia can look like a dark skinned version of herself and didn't need to hunt down a dark skinned person to disguise herself as in Gem.

>>1515368
Didn't she once leave during trip to a neighboring island to hunt a shark because Maka heard a rumor they had two penises?
>>
>>1515382
She totally did. She even carried the shark's corpse back to the castle.
>>
>>1515368
I forgot she shifted to other people, thanks for the reminder.

>>1515382
I got most of that, but what I'm looking for is specific creatures she could shift to.

Also, unless someone has a specific suggestion, I'll probably just hunt down the last time Maka and Tia banged without other people involved and use that as the setting.
>>
>>1515425
You see that stat call "Heart's Blood" on Tia's character sheet? That's a ranking of how many forms a Lunar can take. At rank 4, a Lunar can take between 21-40 distinctly different forms.
Keeping in mind that her most impressive showing has been a full-size KRAKEN, pretty much anything should be fine. Except for elementals, dragons, and gods. it doesn't look like she has the knacks needed to hunt those.
>>
>>1515441
>Except for elementals, dragons, and gods.
And Fair Folk, that's yet another knack which she does not appear to have.
>>
>>1515441
Where can I find a list of "canon" exalted creatures?
>>
>>1515459
I'm pretty sure there is no such list. Exalted doesn't have a "Monster Manual" that lists it's non-human creatures in a neat and tidy manner.
>>
>>1515459
What the previous anon said, though you can find some stuff listed at the end of the Oadenol's Codex and the four Compass of Terrestrial Directions books.
>>
>>1513547
>Since you're changing up the system, have you given any thought on how to represent the Great Curse? I know it's been problematic in the past, so I was curious.

I still want to keep the Great Curse as something outside of the mechanics of the game system.

>>1515268
Well, you can't turn into "mythical" beasts because you need to physically hunt them down and eat their hearts, but I think I get what you mean. Apart for giant or unique varieties of normal animals, Tia doesn't have any animals in her Heart's Blood library that do not also exist on Earth. (for now.) The only exception might be the kraken.

She can shift into other people she hunted down and killed, but she can also taste a person's blood (just a little bite) and temporarily acquire the capacity to transform in them.

Monsters and creatures in the Exalted setting are unfortunately scattered throughout several books.

Mikahil is still in Gem for now, but nonetheless you're worried about Five Tails. According to Regis and Millian, she hasn't shown herself around in two weeks.

Well, she is a LUNAR specialized in STEALTH, so you're not even sure if she's findable at all. Even Radiant Starfall is dubious on the issue when you consult with her, but she suggests trying to just spread the news that you are looking for her, for important reasons. Not just in Tianna and Pearl, or in the small surrounding communities and villages, but among the barbarian tribes of the northern part of the island.

But then the two of you come up with a better idea: if she's still in Creation at all (and why shouldn't she be?), you could just send her an Infallible Messenger.

After asking Aexel to do you this favor, you wait in your room, and hope this will work.

Time passes, and after a few hours, a small tabby wildcat starts pawing at your window.

The little silver-streaked beast is clearly nervous and flighty, and you have to approach it cautiously and slowly open the window to let it in.

As soon as the window is open by anything more than a crack, the cat rolls into your run, transforming into Five Tails in mid-roll, and immediately turns and slams the window behind herself.

"We were all worried." You note, trying to parse her strange, paranoid attitude. She glances left and right, as if to make sure that you're really alone in the room.

"You ARE Maka, right?" She mumbles, staring you down.

You groan and extend an arm. "It's me."

She unceremoniously grabs your wrist, pulls it lightly, and sinks her teeth into your forearm. Her teeth are sharp, sharp enough to draw a bit of blood. You wince at the pang of pain, instinctively.

She looks again at you, this time with kinder, yet worried eyes. "...Alright, yes, you're Maka."

"Sometimes you Lunars are nearly as much of a handful as the Fae, you know?" You rub the bite mark.

"You have no idea." She gives off an exasperated groan, fetching a chair and sitting down. She looks... tired. Tired and stressed. "Is Mikahil alright?"

"He's dandy. He'll be hone next week. We had to make two separate trips, and he wanted to stay back and do some Eclipse stuff."

She answers with a half-smile. "That's so like him."

"What's going on, Five Tails?" You insist. "You've got everyone worried."

She takes a deep breath. "Five Talents has called for a Moot on Tianna."

You sit down as well, trying to parse that dreadful declaration. "...Alright. I know what a Moot is. It's a formal gathering of Lunars allied with the Silver Pact."

(cont.)
>>
""Formal" is a bit of an euphemism. Don't expect to see any Lunars in a shirt and a suit. But yes."

"But who's Five Talents?" You ask. "Is she the person you're so afraid of?"

"...Yes." She hugs her knees. "I'm sorry I disappeared. I panicked and ran. And the longer I hid the safer I felt."

"...This Moot. It's not right NOW, right?"

She shakes her head. "There hasn't been an official call, for now."

"Then why-"

"Because it stands to reason that the organizer of the Moot will go on location and prepare the place beforehand." She replies. "So she might be already here, somewhere."

"Calling a Moot in someone else's territory without asking for permission is kind of rude, though."

"Five Talents doesn't... think highly of Solars. Or of us Lunars in Tianna, for that matter. The only one she respected a bit was Talon, but..."

"Who IS this Five Talents, anyway? I mean, actually? Why is she so scary?" You tap your foot, impatiently.

"She's an Elder Lunar. Not quite a First Age survivor - but almost. She might be one of the strongest active Exalted in the West. I mean, Leviathan would vastly outclass her, but Leviathan is mostly... doing his own thing, I guess." She takes another deep breath. "She's a strong supporter of the Thousand Streams River project, and really wants to tear down civilization and rebuild everything from the ground up. She'd especially want to bring down nations that rely heaving on having Solars at the lead."

"Is she coming here to start trouble?" You ask, starting to feel annoyed at this Five Talents character already.

"She's not the violent type." Five Tails explains. "I mean, she's scary strong, but that's not how she does things."

"How does she do things, then?"

Five Tails hesitates a moment. "...She talks people into doing things for her. Seduces them. She wins their love and devotion, or their servitude, depending on what she asks for. She can make you do... unreasonable things."

(cont.)
>>
"You mean, the sort of things I do?" You try and keep her spirits high. "Relax. I'm an expert at that game. You'll see. If she comes here and tries to start trouble, I'll take her down." You pause. "Is she cute?"

"Take this seriously, please." Fivetails berates you, but you did get a smile out of her. "She's... scary. I've only seen her once, and avoided her ever since. And I'm worried that you'll be... especially vulnerable to her charms. And I mean both her capital C Charms and her lowercase c charms."

"Maybe she'll be to mine." You reassure her. "Let me know when she shows up, but don't worry. No need to be so paranoid and... scaredy-cat."

She punches you in the shoulder. "That was terrible."

"You're smiling."

"NOW I am, idiot." She says, stifling a giggle. "You're taking this lightly."

"We've taken over a Lintha fort, defeated a Deathlord, survived a war, built a city, saved another city and avoided an interdimensional war. I think I'm going to enjoy life one day at a time, considering how crazy it can apparently get. When Five Talents shows up, I'll start worrying."

You pause, and point at her thoughtfully. "Mhh. Five Tails. Five Talents...?"

"No relation." She points out, giving up on you.

Mika said we needed your permission to sleep with him. A threesome is fine too.

On an actual serious note, how big is the Moot going to be? Does Five Tails know when it might start? Is there anyone they trust to call to help keep her in check?

An Elder Lunar is a pretty scary thing to have to fight against.
>>
>>1516291
>>More questions on Five Talents and the Western Lunars (what, specifically?)

How many lunars should we be expecting to show up for this moot?
>>
"So, how many Lunars do you think will be there? A Moot is kind of a big deal, isn't it?"

"I think she's calling the Moot specifically to call us Lunars of Tianna into question." She replies.

"Oh?"

"Like... that we've stopped fighting for the good of Creation, working on the Thousand Streams, things like that. Basically, it's an accusation."

"So you don't expect many Lunars from outside to show up?"

"Depends on who she called. She could get pretty much however much support she wants from the Silver Pact if she bothered to ask, but it's help she'd have to pay for in favours - even persuasiveness and seduction can only get you far enough. I'd say... maybe about other five Lunars other than us here? I'm just guessing."

"And it'll start...?"

"I don't know. I just know she intends to call it. The official proclamation might come tomorrow or next year or in five years. I know that Five Talents is the kind of Lunar that takes the long view... her own Thousand Streams project is an island tribe that she's been training and shaping and culturing for several centuries."

"In any case, between communication and the Moot actually happening there'll be time, right?"

"Oh, yes, you need to leave time to all who have been invited to get their business in order and arrive. Usually there's at least a month. Larger Moots are called several months in advance."

You scratch your chin. "...Actually, is there anyone we can trust to keep her in line?"

"Well, she seems to like Talon, though she might have lost some respect for him recently, what with him associating with you Solars and whatnot. Most other Lunar elders in the West are busy doing their own things or are not on speaking terms with her or anyone."

"...I see." You pat her head, trying your best to sound reassuring. "Then go tell him, and cheer up. You can always count on us. No sense hiding yourself for something that hasn't happened yet. I want you to be bright and cheerful for when Mika will return, alright?"

She nods, feeling a little bit better.

Once she's left, you think about what else needs to be done.

Engine of Salvation will be in Tianna relatively soon, and she'd surely be impressed if you could already produce a clue on the Eye of Autochton!

(...)

"Impossible."

Amata shot down your idea in a single word.

"B-but... I thought you knew everything."

"I don't know EVERYTHING. I only know NEARLY everything." She replies, sounding very proud of herself. "But, seriously, it's impossible to track the Eye of Autochton, at least with Heaven's surveillance system. It's an entity entirely outside of Fate, and that moves freely through space and maybe even time. Don't you thin we would've already secured it if we could track it? That thing is basically a reality bomb."

"A... reality bomb?"

(cont.)
>>
"Everytime and everyplace it shows up, it completely wrecks everything. It creates entire cities and continents from nothingness, violates causality and all sorts of natural laws, then moves on. It's basically a living nightmare for us of the Fivefold Fellowship. There's huge rewards for anyone who can give clues as to its whereabouts, and an entire sub-bureau just dedicated to cross-referencing information from throughout Creation to try and find it, or predict where it will appear. And it never worked."

"So, it's untraceable?" You groan, feeling down.

"Essentially."

"...What would your opinion be on, you know... Let's say we find it. Would it be wrong to just... give it to them?"

She smiles. "Believe it or not, we've had a lot of discussions about this in Yu Shan. What would you do if you found the Eye, that sort of thing."

"...and?"

"Split opinions, of course." She makes an exasperated gesture. "About one-third of my peers would want to keep it under some kind of lock and key, under control, as an emergency measure in case it's ever needed. One-third would want to see it returned to Autochton, or destroyed forever, or banished, basically anything that could remove it from Creation permanently. The remaining third has all sorts of wild, zany schemes for using it to fix all of Creation's problems."

"Where do you stand?"

"Myself? Somewhere between the first and second group. It'd be great if we could just keep it in a storehouse for a rainy day, but it doesn't seem like it's possible at all, judging by how it seems to behave. On top of that, even if we could store it, what if someone decides to use it, or steal it? And besides, it'd be basically a Kukla Switch: using it might prove to be worse than whatever catastrophe you were trying to fight."

"...What's a Kukla Switch?" You wonder, puzzled.

Amata laughs. "Oh, just a Sidereal joke. Believe me, it's a good thing that you don't know."

Mysterious as usual. "...okay. So, you wouldn't be opposed to returning it to Autochton?"

"Autochton suffered a lot in the late First Age, and it was mostly the Solar's fault. Returning his Eye would go a very, very long way towards mending relations. Plus, it would keep it out of Creation, and make a war between them and us wholly unnecessary." She points out. "So yes, I'd give it away. Do you think you could, if you found it?"

"...What do you mean?"

"The Eye of Autochton is... not quite omnipotent, but very, very close. It can make and unmake just about anything. Would you be able to resist the temptation of using it?" She suggests.

"...I'd like to think I would."

"I guess it's the sort of thing you can never know for sure unless you end up being in that actual situation." Amata muses.

Heavy stuff.

Maybe, but you remember that the Alchemicals knew nearly nothing about the Eye itself, so you can't be sure that such a "resonance" will even occur.

>>1516342

Zaan is coming up with the formula, but he still doesn't have anything of practical use. He's working on it.

At this point, he can make a potion that has a decent chance of awakening Essence in someone, but it's untested, risky(he says it could cause damage or even a small chance of death), and cannot be made in large amounts yet.

The next day, assisted by Pyre Spark, you gather in prayer on the roof of Golden Reach at noon, communing with the Unconquered Sun.

You get no booming voices, glorious appearances, or forceful declarations in response. You know your prayer reached him, but he does not answer at first.

Yet, when you first mentioned Autochton, you did feel something. A silent, deep sense of shame.

A sense of goodwill betrayed and hopes dashed.

You don't need to ask. You know the tune by now: another thing the old Solars did that the Sun regrets, or perhaps blames himself for not stopping.

I guess he doesn't know anything about the eye, or he'd probably offer to at least point us in the right direction given how much he seems to regret what happened.

So who else can we ask for a lead? We've tried Sidereals and the Greatest of the Gods, SOMEONE has to at least be able to say "It's somewhere over there."
What about praying that God of Secrets Known Only to One Person, whose name is on the tip of my tongue? Even if the Eye is outside of Fate, maybe someone who knows about it isn't. Even if we can't find out for certain where it is now, getting a definite last known location rather than one based on rumors would be useful.

No, they're not. they're mortals from the tribes. It's a Neck custom (and, more generally, a western one) where all political alliances are sealed with a marriage.

Rulers are nearly always male and polygamy, especially for the rich and powerful, is not just normal, but a status symbol, as it shows that you are able to support many wives, and western society, especially in the Neck and Wavecrest, so it makes sense. The practice of giving away one of your women as a wife is a more formalized and civilized version of hostage-taking, essentially.

Since you're a foreigner and a ruler, the Necklanders are essentially pretending that you are male. Your actual gender is not as important as your social role to them, in any case. On top of that, your being a Celestial Exalted (equivalent to being a local god in their eyes) means that marrying with you would increase the status of both the bride and the clan, because god-blooded are held in high regard in Neck traditions. (The Realm did his best to stamp this out, but with mixed success.)

The Neck is split up between five main clans (Cyanin, Porphura, Smaragdi, Squalus, Tautoga), and as part of your alliance with them (which is essentially a soft annexation) you are expected to take one young bride from each clan, but you have not decided what to actually "do" with them, since this is an unconventional situation. (you could take them into a harem of your own, or combine the marriages between them and other people in Tianna, etc)

As a reminder, the main terms of your agreement were:

- The Neck maintains most of its self-governance. Tianna handles their foreign affairs, but it's not a big change because the Neck has always been very isolationist in that regard.
- Tianna provides for the Neck's defense and clears its waters from pirates.
- Free trade and movement and open ports.
- The isle of Cormorant, occupied by Skullstone, is to be returned to the Tautoga clan whenever Tianna will be able to.

You trusted Mikahil to hammer out some favorable terms on the more specific side (taxation etc), you didn't go into details yourself. What matters is that you've convinced the Neck to buy into your idea of slowly forming a great western nation.

It's an idea that resonates powerfully with them, because they consider themselves the last heirs of Okeanos, the vast First-Age nation that occupied the west in the distant past.

I'll add it to the options. You can definitely get another copy done.

>>1516416
>It would also be a nice to see how Ioula, the tailor's apprentice, is doing.
Still at her job. It's successful, thanks to rumors that you got your wedding dress from them drawing a lot of business, but she's been swamped with work recently and hasn't had time to do anything else.

>>1516417
>Maybe ask Amata if it would be a waste of time to just ask Jupiter where it is.

Well, the same rule applies: if the Sidereals could know where the Eye is, don't you think they would've already found it?

>>1516422
>Oh speaking of the West don't we still need to send over Mika and Karas to talk defense and trading?

Yeah. That's something that will happen in downtime. You don't need to "send them", they're good at doing their jobs on their own even without you micromanaging them :D

In general, with the amount of people and things going on in this quest, you should give up on micromanaging things and focus only on what you need/want to handle yourself. Trust that your circlemates will be competent.

>>1516476
>I could have sworn we came up with a more specific governing structure a while ago and people agreed to it.

There has been talk of it (see here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/45574749/#p45580464), but no conclusive, "official" votes, msotly because it felt like the kind of thing that should be organized in downtime. So, now is the ideal time to talk about it.

Also, feel free to keep posting or linking outfits. I'm compiling a gallery.
>>
>>1516484
I guess we're officially in downtime?

I don't think it's been that long since we last asked, but how have things been going on in Creation? Any news we've heard about?

How have our allies been, I assume Moray already left for Skullstone at least, any word from him? Has The Realm responded to the us taking Neck?

>Also, feel free to keep posting or linking outfits. I'm compiling a gallery.
I liked this one to be our regular Swift Rider outfit since I always thought our old one, #18, was kinda plain.

Yes, but this vote is a "do-over" for the entire wardrobe, so those outfits are up for vote too. They might get changed. Changing clothes is a thing people do, especially rich people who get tired of old outfits.

So we're effectively voting for 29 slots.

Here's the gallery. I'll keep this vote up for a few hours to give time for everyone to vote.

Here is how the vote works:

Each of you has 10 votes and 5 vetos.

A veto cancels a vote. You don't HAVE to use it, it's just to point out outfits you really really don't like and lower their chances of making the cut.

You don't have to use all of your votes, or all of your vetos.

You CAN vote/veto multiple times for the same outfit if there is one you REALLY like (or hate), but only up to 3 times (so no piling 10 votes on one outfit for example).

Outfits that were in use up to now win ties and start with 5 free votes.

Please list your votes like this for (my) ease of readability:

Prepare a major sports competition a la Olympics, but with exalted sports(tm). Maybe also an art equivalent, with painting, statues and jewel smithing.

New on skullstone and the solar we gave a ton of money/ships to, and get our own army ready.

That doesn't really help us in the short term with actually dealing with any loses we take, we'll want to increase immigration to Tianna to deal with that so the Olympics idea could work as a huge tourism event.

Make it a huge festival and offer a prize to the various winners to entice people to come over, we could even make it a Martial Arts tournament to try and attract those martial artists I wanted. Plus I think our people deserve something like this, a big happy festival to celebrate our initial victory against the Silver Prince since I don't think we ever did that after we won.

Off the top of my head:
-Have Engine, Valeriana, and Irene start repairs on the Titan. Or at least draw up a plan of action to repair the critical systems and see if the island can be made to fly.
-Try and find Leviathan to make a formal, friendly introduction to the most powerful Exalt in the West
-See if we can negotiate/beat the Storm Mothers into behaving for our shipping? Would help with making nations want to join us.
-Experiment with Valeriana's Twilight abilities in Silk's Wyld Zone, see what we can make (I think she mentioned wanting to do this before)
-Set up regular regimens of Tiger Warrior Training for Tianna/Pearl's troops (or get Karas to handle since I think he has the Charms)
-Develop Social/UMI Defense suite for when Five Talents arrives
-See if a Wyld highway can be developed between Tianna and Gem
-Check in with our friendly neighborhood Abyssals, particularly Fleur. See if she's interested in trying to become a Solar again (might be more than a simple downtime activity).
-Continue looking for leads on our side quests (the Eye, Ocean Father's dagger, looking for viable candidates to marry Old Man Arbani's daughters, etc.)
-I like this suggestion, as well >>1519915

Also, to marry off the Neck girls or add them to the harem? Hmm...

(Experts say no. For now, Azure Chariot is the fastest transportation, it seems.)

>Check in with our friendly neighborhood Abyssals, particularly Fleur
Easily done: the Abyssals are doing their stuff in the Underworld side of Tianna. Phoenix explains that the destruction of the Silver Prince drew a lot of attention. Other Deathlords sent people to see what happened, but no one seems willing to take overt action. Fleur is missing, no one knows where she went.

What about martial arts and Amata, exactly?

This is what has been mentioned this far. To all this I'd add:

Valeriana intends to invest the cash you brought home from Gem into completing Golden Reach. She believes she can be done with it in about one season, so in time for Nysela's Summer Camp. (Shining Jewel agrees.)

Karas and Samiel are reorganizing the armed forces. You can let them do it on their own, or get involved.

The administration of Sapphire Palace (your water-aspected manse, on loan to the water spirits) is going well. Glorious Tide got the hang of it, and she's doing a good job right now.

Irene is forcing Engine of Salvation to help her with warstrider engineering. (But not after losing her mind over her for a good three days and trying to dismantle her no less than ten times) She is perfecting the Dragonkaiser.

Flame That Marched Against The Sea is stable.

The Realm is massing forces, and the political situation seems volatile. Troops and ships are being pulled out of the West, too.

Regis and Millian are forced to wear the matching outfits you brought them from Gem as a souvenir. (picture related.)

Pyre Spark is oddly clingy. I mean, a bit more than usual.

Also, yes, the five girls from the Neck. Marry them off, take them for your own harem, etc.
(OOC note: been looking all over the place for a picture with five fantasy-styled slightly exotic-looking girls that do not look like they're wearing another goddamn school uniform.)

>Irene is forcing Engine of Salvation to help her with warstrider engineering. (But not after losing her mind over her for a good three days and trying to dismantle her no less than ten times) She is perfecting the Dragonkaiser.
I'm still going over other stuff, but at one point we wanted to construct a Royal Warstrider for Maka. I assume we still do, so we should mention that to them and Val. It's not a priority, but something to plan long term for. It takes a year to make one after all.
>>
>>1520188
How is our Magitech Navy looking? I would think with Engine around we could be building it up faster than ever. Also what does she think of the tech compared to her home?
>>
>>1520185
So we have 13 weeks to camp
>Contact Leviathan
Send Talon, he's the most diplomatic of our Lunars, and the most respected.
>Tiger Warrior Training
7 Weeks left
>Draw terrestrial martial artists to Tianna
5 Weeks left
>Explore the caves under the Titan
Irene and Engine of Salvation. Maybe Val too.

>Karas and Samiel are reorganizing the armed forces. You can let them do it on their own, or get involved.
Just have them run any big changes by us.
>Irene is forcing Engine of Salvation to help her with warstrider engineering. (But not after losing her mind over her for a good three days and trying to dismantle her no less than ten times) She is perfecting the Dragonkaiser.
As I said here >>1520188 we should bring up our plans for a Royal Warstrider.
The Realm is massing forces, and the political situation seems volatile. Troops and ships are being pulled out of the West, too.
Another reason getting Leviathan on our side would be good.
>Regis and Millian are forced to wear the matching outfits you brought them from Gem as a souvenir. (picture related.)
Be sure to mother them extra hard.
>Pyre Spark is oddly clingy. I mean, a bit more than usual.
We should also Talk to Pyre Spark

>Also, yes, the five girls from the Neck. Marry them off, take them for your own harem, etc.
Ask Amata if there are any families that it would be advantagous to marry them to. Otherwise keep them for ourselves. It should be an all or nothing kind of deal, we marry them all or keep them all, otherwise it looks like we're playing favorites.

Specifically? If she knows someone or something that might help us improve upon our inherent style. There are so many martial arts, having different ideals or philosophical ideas and since Amata is informed about
>NEARLY everything
I'd love to know if she knows some styles that roughly conform to our views.
Also getting her point of view interest me very much since she hasn't shown to be the stereotypical martial arts master a Sidereal is supposed to be and a discussion about what ranges from killing people by ripping someone's heart out and offering it to UCS-senpai as sacrifice and poisoning others by poisoning yourself to sitting besides them and have them die three days later would be delightful if that happens.
>>
>>1520185
Here is what I want.
>Work on the details of the deal with the Neck.
>Tiger Warrior Training

>>1520188
What's happening with our airship?
>>
>>1520185
>Work on the details of the deal with the Neck.
That's something we can leave to Karas and Mika like we planned.

>Tiger Warrior Training
We definitely want Karas helping as soon as he's done back from the Neck, it's only about 4 hours a day so he can work on that in between his other work. We should also top off Regis, Milly, and Pyre too.

>Draw terrestrial martial artists to Tianna
Sure, make sure to ask Zha to come over for a bit as well if he can. Ask Amata if she knows anyone who could come over or for recommendations, if she knows a Golden Jannisary marry her all over again.

>Sports Festival & Culture Festival
How about we keep it small time for now, just a fun holiday for the island so they can enjoy themselves.

>Promote Fertility
We definitely want that population bump

>Explore the caves under the Titan
This is something we can do while we give Engine a tour of the Titan. In play is fine I suppose.

>Also, yes, the five girls from the Neck. Marry them off, take them for your own harem, etc.
I think back when it came up in the Neck we considered the option of marrying the clans off with the our Water Court, their numbers would make it easy and honestly I don't want to have too many of Maka's kids running around just yet. I want to give birth to our current ones first before we even think about expanding.

>>1520233
>Send Talon, he's the most diplomatic of our Lunars, and the most respected.
I'd rather send Lynne so we have Talon on hand in case Five Talents shows up early especially since we don't know how long the mission would take. Also because he's squid.

>>
>Tiger Warrior Training 6 weeks
>Work on the details of the deal with the Neck. 1 week, most important to me personally

>>1520313

... some many thoughts on that last one and the book that was mentioned the other thread
>>
>>1520188
Oh we should write some super cheesy romance novels in our spare time!

Maybe a journal too, something for history.
>>
>>1520202
Oh, believe me, Irene and Valeriana already have plans.

>>1520205
By the month of Resplendent Fire repairs will be completed and your forces will count on 10 fully-rigged and armed First Age-class ships.

Engine doesn't think highly of your technological level, She does admit that parts of it are "adequate", though "different from how we do back home nonetheless".

She helps out, but you definitely feel like she'd not doing as much as she could (she probably still doesn't trust you fully), and on top of that she's still getting used to your different tech.

>>1520233
>Just have them run any big changes by us.
Essentially, five main armed forces.

Army:
Commander: Karas. Three Dragons (3x500=1500 men) of medium infantry. Best training and equipment, prepared and outfitted for independent operations both in Tianna and outside. Includes elite commandos, some portable Essence artillery (10 gun-sized Essence Cannons, 5 bazooka-sized), and the ability to field up to 5 common warstriders.

Engineers:
Commander: Irene. One Dragon (500 men) of medium infantry. Perfectly capable of fighting alongside the frontline forces, but more specialized: sappers, artillery corps, etc. Carries a variety of Essence artillery: 5 Lightning Ballistas, 10 Medium Implosion Bows, 10 each of gun-sized, bazooka-sized and howitzer-sized Concussion Essence Cannons, plus a Storm Hammer. There are not enough hearthstones for all, unfortunately.

Guard:
Commander: Samiel. Around 1000 men. Essentially a police force. Can take the field as two Dragons of light infantry if needed, but is mostly meant for peacekeeping.

Navy:
Commander: Rajan. Totals around 1000 men, but only about 500 of them are actual combatants. (Can take the field as one Dragon of marines if needed.) Includes the pirate crews you merged into Tianna's navy. Has 5 First Age ships, plus a complement of normal ships relegated to noncombat roles. Each ship mounts a Medium Implosion Bow and a Medium Concussive Essence Cannon, but there are not enough hearthstones for all.

Horde:
Commander: Tia. (heaven help you all) Totals around 1000 barbarian warriors grouped in warbands of mixed light and medium infantry and cavalry. Undisciplined but strong and skilled at mobile warfare.

These are full-readiness armed forces. Tianna would not be able to raise additional as militia or volunteers effectively... it's already a very high proportion of military to civilian. Under peacetime, you'd have about one-third to half of these numbers available.
>>

Not a bad idea. Leviathan would take well to a squid Lunar, methinks.

Yeah, it's been brought up before. It's a decent style, and not an entirely bad idea. I'm not trying to shoot it down, but it is even more Charms when we're already into Solar Hero, which itself is a pretty great style. Though I would LOVE to see Maka wrecking someone with Meditation Upon the Spear I do like the thought of at least someone among our group learning actual Martial Arts. Karas might be a good contender?

>(she probably still doesn't trust you fully)
How much does Engine know about the Wyld?
I really wanted to run that idea of just making the materials she needs from the Wyld instead of having to harvest it.

Bonus points for having Gem right on the edge of Creation so if we set up shop their we could easily ship it to Autochthonia. In general I guess this is something to ask our smart people if it's viable, but we could at least show off the theory of it with Silk in our Wyld Zone.
>>
>>1520373
Technically, we also have the Fey forces which were already designed a long time ago.
>>
>>1520273
>Specifically? If she knows someone or something that might help us improve upon our inherent style.
>>1520302
>having Maka learn Unconquered Arms Style
Amata's response is "the best trainer you could ask for for your particular brand of martial arts is actually Nysela. I mean, out of all the people I know."
Also, her styles are... utterly incomprehensible to you, even when she tries to teach you something. Apparently you "lack the proper mindset to grasp the true form of Sidereal Martial Arts" or something.

>>1520310
>What's happening with our airship?
Not really coming along. Irene and Valeriana are estimating about one year of development, assuming nothing goes wrong, and it might.
When offered the option between dismantling the Titan and using its parts to make a smaller airship quickly, and keeping the Titan intact, you picked the latter.

>>1520367
>Oh we should write some super cheesy romance novels in our spare time!
Sure, no problem.

>>1520313
>We should also top off Regis, Milly, and Pyre too.
Done.

Are we forgetting anything? Just want to get all the stuff to do in one neat place.

Incidentally, for reference:

Assuming we're ending this timeskip at around the start of Ascending Fire, that is, the Summer Camp, by then, with immigration, the completed unification of the Neck and access to its food surplus, and the general prosperity that Tianna can enjoy thanks to Gem's money plus a bunch of bureaucratically-skilled Exalted managing the government (ensuring very low corruption, very low crime, etc) brings the total number of inhabitants of the island of Tianna to about 300.000 people.

It can't easily grow larger than this unless you gain access to more food supplies, which means either conquering more land, making big trade deals, or expanding agriculture in the barbarian plains (and that would probably make Tia and Talon crabby).

Do any of the crafters have time for maybe making or upgrading a few Artifacts?

Besides my eternal love of Wings of the Raptor, I'd like the chance to upgrade our boots and gloves to maybe have a shield form or a kind of pilebunker attack. The rest of our circle can take priority if they want/need something though.

And don't forget we wanted to make a new crown for our super cool new Kingdom. Something that would be complimented with our Crown of Thunders.

>>Dream Library
>(need more details. What do you mean, exactly?)
It's an idea that came up a few times during the gem arc. It was supposed to use the dream pearls we hoped to buy in gem before returning to tianna, but maybe there's another way.
The gist of it was to build a an archive of sorts of Maka (and/or others') memories or dreams, so she would never forget who she used to be. It could work as both a journal and a way to (hopefully) fend off the Curse. And open a dream parlour like Gem's with the right dreams.

By the way, how did you settle for the outfits with only a single vote? I had expected a complete overhaul of the wardrobe.

>>
>>1520385
>The Neck would like that, I think. Considering they're elementals, would the fact that we're giving them brides instead of grooms matter much? I will second asking our resident Sidereal for political advice.

She makes a few considerations, the main of which is that "they're spirits, they're not women, or men".
When marrying to a supernatural ally, what matters is that the marriage produces god-blooded. That's something spirits, especially water spirits (who are natural shapeshifters), can accomplish.

"They'd like that" in the sense that they understand and are used to deal with "water spirits", whereas "Solar Exalted" are a weird and new and scary thing to them. So yes, that would be more familiar to them.
On the other side, it means that their alliance and tribute is to the Court (and in this case specifically Glorious Tide, being the leader of the court), not to you. It's up to you how much you care about this technicality. (After all, Glorious Tide is in your service)

Essentially, how much you want to centralize rule over the Neck in your person, or if you're alright with a more indirect approach. Some could argue that the Neck wanted to follow you, and not some water elemental who is also your underling, for example.

>>1520385
>Yeah, it's been brought up before. It's a decent style, and not an entirely bad idea. I'm not trying to shoot it down, but it is even more Charms when we're already into Solar Hero, which itself is a pretty great style.
I'll point out that you're still at Dawn 4 and haven't still unlocked the capstones of Solar Hero. And, the "elder charm unlocked once you've bought an entire Charm tree" system works for Martial Arts, too!
>>
>>1520349
>We should keep in touch with them. It doesn't have to be often, but even something like a monthly Messenger to touch bases.
You do keep in touch. They're doing their own things along the southern coast. You can't tell long stories via Infallible Messenger, but you feel like they have a lot on their plate.
Please imagine another completely independent Exalted Quest set there with different characters but just as much going on.

>>1520385
>Wow, that's pretty impressive, actually. Can we replicate the Lightning Ballistas and Implosion Bows yet?
No. You'd need a serious factory-cathedral for that. We're looking at years if not decades of work on infrastructure alone.

>>1520390
>How much does Engine know about the Wyld?
Basically nothing. Val can try and explain to her, but it's even more alien to her than it is to you.

Valeriana explains that it's technically possible to obtain those materials from the Wyld, but the amount they need is so vast that there are serious logistical considerations at that point. For example, how to bring millions of tons of raw materials from the deepest of the deep Wyld (the only place where you could create so much) to Autochton. Also how to not get your face eaten by Unshaped Fae.

>>1520394
Silk can join the fight with her own goblins but you're not sure how you should count them and Karas is kind of nervous about having anything to do with Silk again considering what happened last time.

>>1520407
>What does the Neck have militarily speaking?
Practically nothing. Some small boats, canoes, pirates and raiders, tribal warriors, a coast guard. Their forces actually have a very high concentration of god-blooded, but are small, poorly armed, poorly trained. The Neck has never been a warlike nation. Their main defensive strategy is "Let others fight, submit to the strongest power in the region, and, when all else fails, surrender as fast as possible." It's always worked, and the Neck has never been in any real wars.
>>
>>1520400
We should take Ari out hunting every now and then so he doesn't get board, maybe give him a cute ribbon on his tail so people know he's ours.

>I'll point out that you're still at Dawn 4 and haven't still unlocked the capstones of Solar Hero. And, the "elder charm unlocked once you've bought an entire Charm tree" system works for Martial Arts, too!
I am in favor of getting punchier. Could we train in our downtime, would that accomplish anything here? I guess even if it wouldn't I'd like to take the time to do so if we have the time. Something like practicing against Tia or Amata or Silk's hoard.
>>

>Essentially, how much you want to centralize rule over the Neck in your person, or if you're alright with a more indirect approach. Some could argue that the Neck wanted to follow you, and not some water elemental who is also your underling, for example.

Same here, maybe ask Amata's opinion on how she feels about us doing so, I really want to make her pregnant before we do anyone else. I'm still a little anxious about just impregnating people we don't know, but we can hold off on that until we're ready as long as we keep them.

>Do any of the crafters have time for maybe making or upgrading a few Artifacts?
>Besides my eternal love of Wings of the Raptor, I'd like the chance to upgrade our boots and gloves to maybe have a shield form or a kind of pilebunker attack.

You can't easily upgrade your weapons now, because the "physical" part of them (the orichalcum, metal, etc) is as good as it can get for a hunk of magical metal that hits people in the face. Any further improvement has to come in the shape of enchantments and mystically imbued abilities, and that's a very long and difficult procedure that also requires exotic and unique materials.

As for Wings of the Raptor, Valeriana explains that she knows the basics, but she'd need to put in a massive amount of work and resources to try and make them.

That is an option, but means delaying the construction of Golden Reach by quite a while, and she'd also need to dismantle the Swift Rider.

>>1520410
>And don't forget we wanted to make a new crown for our super cool new Kingdom. Something that would be complimented with our Crown of Thunders.
Oh, it's just gold and gems and a bit of orichalcum. Valeriana can make that by hand in an afternoon. In fact, she did.

(I have an idea in mind for what the crown looks like but there are no close enough pictures on the internet and am out of budget to commission an artist, let me know if you care to know the description.)

Not a bad idea, but the problem is that the Dream Opals store dreams, not memories. Gem has professional dreamers who are KINDA SORTA capable of deciding what to dream, but they can't put decide to put anything accurate in the gems. Generally, they dream over and over until they get something "marketable".

You only have the Dream Opal given to you by Arras. I mean, you COULD go and get some extra Dream Opals and have enough to start a dream parlor, but that is a lot of work and you're not sure if a dream parlor would be successful in the West. No one knows what one is, cultural differences, etc.

(Incidentally, you try sleeping with Arras' Opal, and it's one of the strangest experiences ever.)

Wavecrest has no love for Skullstone, but they also are not a martial or powerful nation (thought they'd be more useful than the Neck in a straight fight that's for sure).

>Same here, maybe ask Amata's opinion on how she feels about us doing so, I really want to make her pregnant before we do anyone else. I'm still a little anxious about just impregnating people we don't know, but we can hold off on that until we're ready as long as we keep them.
Amata is already expecting, incidentally.

I'd assume that whenever you have spare time you do this, especially during this downtime.

By this point, Exalted Quest has upwards of 30 named NPCs within arm's reach in Tianna alone. As much as I'd like to, it's hard to manage everything and have occasional slice of life with them while also trying to push the game along and not be boring or slow.

If you want direct control, you'd need to have someone Exalted move over to Amphiro and stay there as local governor or what-have-you.

If that's the case, letting rumors of our affiliation with Gem circulate may be useful. Of course we shouldn't confirm them, doing so could get dad and sis in trouble, but letting them "know" we have the backing of such a rich nation could be quite useful in initial negotiations.

This raises an interesting thought. Can we make suggestions for what Charms and abilities the rest of our Circle should be learning? Not in a dictatorial sense, but sitting down with them and talking about goals. Like how Karas and Maka both use Tiger Warrior to improve our military.
>>
>>1520619
I have on several occasions said we should suggest everyone learn Tireless Hero's Soul. I don't know if other Exalt types have a similar charm, but if they do they should learn it too. Being able to go for longer periods without sleep has been one of our most use upgrades.
>>
>>1520619
To go with that, I don't want to push it, but I've been wondering if any of our DBs have thought about starting a proper House for themselves.
>>
>>1520567
>Woo. Wish we could have done that reveal in play.

Well, you both (all three of you, actually) did your absolute best to make things happen on that fateful first night, after your wedding, while using for the first time the Hearthstone of Gender Change.

(I use the term "night" loosely, of course.)

Over the course of this timeskip, Doctor Zaan certifies that the deed is done. This comes as no surprise to Amata, who probably already knew it (or helped) due to weird Sidereal shenanigans.
(She IS a Serenity, after all.)

(Notice that Amata gave you the "safety talisman" only the day after.)

>>1520594
>If that's the case, letting rumors of our affiliation with Gem circulate may be useful. Of course we shouldn't confirm them, doing so could get dad and sis in trouble, but letting them "know" we have the backing of such a rich nation could be quite useful in initial negotiations.

It could, but Mikahil points out that it could also make every ship leaving your ports a target for privateers.
His suggestion is to do your best to maintain cautious neutrality with them.
He also reminds you that he has an evil masterplan for going to Azure's casinos and make all of the money.

>>1520599
>Something to keep in mind if/when we pick up a more civil servant guy. Unless Amata has one hidden away somewhere that she thinks deserves the position.
There are a few dragon-blooded civil servants in Tianna that you have not met yet. Amata knows someone who could fill that particular position, but she also thinks that it's best to do things by steps, and so you should slowly integrate the Neck rather than gobble it up in a single bite.

>>1520619
>This raises an interesting thought. Can we make suggestions for what Charms and abilities the rest of our Circle should be learning? Not in a dictatorial sense, but sitting down with them and talking about goals. Like how Karas and Maka both use Tiger Warrior to improve our military.

Within reasonable limits, yes. You can suggest people to invest their future XP in specific directions.

Also, since this is downtime, you can spend your own XP, too. You can spend it freely. I'm not going to post a full list of charms, but i'm sure you can dig through archived threads for good charms you'd like to see.

A new charm you unlocked by getting Friend of Creation:

BEAST-LORD’S BLESSING: (FREE) A natural animal chosen as Familiar becomes semi-intelligent, can be trained (as per Tiger Warrior Training Technique)

(I have an entire small tree of Familiar charms. You couldn't use them on Silk because she's not a natural animal, but they work on Ari. And yes, there is an Elder Charm at the end.)

They're working on it. Not everyone is a Zenith!

That's actually a thing Amata also wanted to talk to you, in sort of a "we should start thinking about marrying the kids off" tone.

The prospect scares her because she wants to keep her babies at home, of course. But still, she realizes that it's something that must be addressed sooner or later.

Samiel is kind of committed with Flame. As awesome as that might sound, it's unlikely to produce any dragon-blooded in the long term, unless you also got him some sort of dragon-blooded mistress somehow?

Irene is generally unsociable and doesn't seem particularly interested in starting a family. Though you could put some pressure on her.

As for the others:

Rajan has... a physical problem, unfortunately.

And Amata has been trying to set up Aexel and Zareen together for quite some time. She's still working on it.

I'm still figuring things out myself, sorry.

As for the description of the crown, as mentioned a billion posts ago:

it's tiara-style rather than crown-resting-on-top-of-head style. Gold. It has a curved structure, like this one.

Central, at the top, has a very large white pearl. Along the sides of the crown, left and right, four and four tear-cut sapphires pointing upwards and outwards (the sharp point pointing down and inwards, roughly in direction of where the castemark would be).

At the bottom, almost hanging down from the crown, Golden Reach's hearthstone (which is a large, transparent, heart-cut topaz), placed so that it's directly in front of the castemark (so the castemark shines through it).

All of the rest liberally studded with small brilliant-cut diamonds.

Amata is the cutest wife.
It wouldn't hurt to talk to them about, probe the idea of an arrange marriage to them if only for the kids. We'd have to be really gentle with Sammy on it since the last time he tried this with the Realm everything went sideways. We could look into Threshhold DBs looking to set up shop somewhere.

>Rajan has... a physical problem, unfortunately.
Oh no I forgot, can Zaan not do anything about it?
In a very hypothetical situation, if he were to becomes a lady somehow, would he have working ladybits and would he be against this whole idea?

Maybe we should look into seeing if we can't hire a Twilight Doctor somewhere.

There is an argument to be made for Dawn 5, considering we have the Summer Camp coming up and will likely be talking to Nysela about martial arts.

How much XP are we talking, anyway? Once we make back the XP we spent on Friend of Creation, we can bump Dawn. Then it's only 8 for a Zenith Charm, right?

#08, without the blindfold. Unless we're training with someone, then leave it on.

Even if we're not going to switch right now, it sounds like we have some scenes to play out before the thread ends, so we might as well get this choice out of the way while we discuss other things.

I assumed we couldn't, and even if we can, it's rude to not make eye contact with people when you talk with them. So I don't mind if we wear it in non-Social situations, like training or combat, but in Social situations we should leave it off.
>>
>>1520906
>Can we even see with it on, is it magic?

It's just not a "real" blindfold, it's actually thin cloth you can see through of easily! Just a little trick.

Though I'd like to know who designed that outfit. It sounds like one of Amata's less sensible ideas, honestly.

Or one of Maka's average ideas.

>That's a stretch.
It really isn't.
A hood's main purpose to keep the weather off you. A mask's is to disguise you.
A blindfold's is to keep you from seeing the world around you. And if you put that blindfold on yourself, it means you are the one who doesn't want you to see that world. The reasons can vary, but for some reason, you don't want to look at the world. And the first reason that came to my mind was "First Age Solars would want to meet the eyes of their inferiors."

>Ah, I just remembered, we also talked about opening a night club or parlour in Tianna/Pearl. Or considered discussing it, during gem thread. How's the entertainment industry looking like in the island?

Pretty basic. It has the usual pubs and bars and taverns.

The cutting edge is the Sapphire Palace, your manse loaned to the sea spirit. They turned it into essentially a high-class brothel, but a very cheap one.

Glorious Tide set prices that are perfectly accessible to the average sailor who is willing to save a bit of cash for it, even though similar experiences in the west would cost literally a king's ransom.

Mostly because water nymphs are sex-crazed maniacs who don't really care about human money. So Glorious Tide uses the income to improve on the place, and the process keeps both the nymphs and the sailors happy. As for her, you suspect she gets more than a bit of prayer from her customers, but there's nothing wrong with that (in moderation).

Sapphire Palace's popularity is soaring, and the fact that the Immaculate Order officially condemned it as a den of perdition only helped business.

Trying to look at every single thing we do as "but what if the First Age did X too" is just as bad as ignoring what they did.

Solars confirmed for cool kids and Immaculates as boring adults who just don't get it.

Also, random tangential thought. We still aren't sure whether the Silver Prince is coming back or not, but (I think) we're pretty sure that Tyrant's soul was purified and passed on to Lethe beyond the reach of the Neverborn. I have an idea I want to run past you guys. Really just me thinking out loud.
So while we're going to be the one marrying the girls from the Neck most likely, what do people think about letting Tia/Amata impregnate some of them so that we can get more variety. It doesn't have to be the first go round, we can make sure all the firstborns come from us, but having access to Lunar, and especially Sidereal, Half-Castes would be very useful. Tia I'm sure would be more than happy to do it if we asked, however I'm not sure how the girls, their families, or Amata would take it.
Really I just want more people with Sidereal charms without having to deal with more Sidereals watching over us.
>>
Let's sum up the things we kinda sorta agreed on, then.

- Regular management of Tianna.

- Finish work on Golden Reach.

- Restructure the armed forces, and finish training them.

- Try and draw terrestrial martial artists to Tianna.

- Have events and festivals to brighten the mood.

- Send scouts under the Titan.

- Try and contact Leviathan.

- Finalize the alliance/protectorate with the Neck. Take in the princesses into your harem.

- Get Dawn 5

- Spend some good quality time with the people around you.

Most other things that we discussed were not really particularly agreed-on, or at least it doesn't feel like that.

The city is growing along planned lines, but naturally. There are blueprints and guidelines, but building Pearl is not something Valeriana has to pay attention at specifically: there's a lot of skilled mortal architects and engineers capable of following instructions.

Once Golden Reach is completed, she will dedicate herself more closely to the city. And also take a vacation, she informs you.

The manse is 100% dedicated to utilities. The hearthstone has no power save that to act as a key to the Manse, but Golden Reach:
- Is massive, with several hundred rooms.
- Is a heavily fortified strongpoint.
- Is fully equipped to act as government and bureaucratic center to a vast kingdom.
- Has a lot of unique features (wyld containment unit, Essence-powered forges, etc)
- Can relay some of its power to the city at large (street illumination, etc)

Why not organize a bona fide martial arts tournament? It would be fun and might attract attention from martial artists around the West.
For added appeal, think of a good reward for the winner.

Sounds fun.

As for a prize, off the top of my head we could do one of a few things
>a single boon
This is kinda vague and might be too open

>Personal Tiger Training from Maka
This one wouldn't be that useful for any Exalted that entered or even those that have already reached physical peak. If we seperate the Tournament into Essence Users and Mortals we could offer this to the winner of the latter. If our Essence bottles were ready we could offer those, but oh well.

>a chance to have Maka as a sponser
The idea behind this would be something like we would help set them up with their own school or dojo here in Pearl, maybe even a place inside Golden Reach.

The manse SORT OF has an AI. Meet Shining Jewel. Technically Yaraon of the Plains and Dancing Smoke's son. (gods are weird.)

He didn't have a lot of screentime and he's not very talkative either, but he's the Manse's administrator.

>>1523526
>As for a prize, off the top of my head we could do one of a few things

You could have two "leagues" for the tournament, one for mortals and one for Exalted, yes.

I'd write off Tiger Training for the latter because it's useless to Exalted, but it might be useful to mortals that are not maxed out.
Plus the idea of a mortal warrior winning a martial arts tournament and winning, as a reward, magical training with a supernatural being, is deliciously xianxia.

Sponsorship works well with your idea to attract mortal MA masters.

The weapon is a good idea. Valeriana and Irene could design an artifact for that. It probably wouldn't take them too much time to make a daiklave or something. It wouldn't be too amazing (no special powers, just an artifact 2 or 3), but still nothing to sneeze at.

Cash price is also an option. You're doing fairly well economically. It wouldn't be super fantastic, though, because you're also having huge expenses.

I'd say to keep Tiger Warrior + sponsorship as the mortal-level reward, and vote on the Exalted-level:

>A single boon.
>An artifact weapon.
>A cash prize.
I don't have any other ideas, but i'm open to more write-ins.

>A single boon.

I am torn. One could interpret the first one to enable the second one.

Now, how do we go about the winners after their prize? We can always ask them to set up a school, that's something we could decide on a case by case basis to further increase the number of martial artists in our kingdom. Maybe we could set up a huge mixed martial arts school on a water demesne we have?

Well, for the mortals, you could let them use some rooms of Golden Reach. It's HUGE and has a lot of unused space.
>>
>>1523566
>An artifact weapon.
Let's keep this simple for now. We can make this a yearly thing and maybe upgrade the prize next time.

Or have a bonus final round, give them a chance to fight Maka or Karas, maybe even Amata if she doesn't mind showing off her Super Kung Fu skills, and offer a single boon if they win that round.

So, after transferring Exalted Quest to Akun, I will put up a synopsis of all the crap that happened up to now, and then take care of a few vignettes, essentially some slice of life, before getting back to the plot.

Vignettes:

- Slice of Life with Amata, Tia, Irene and Samiel.

- The girls from Okeanos. Also some dealing with the Neck.

- Maka getting to Dawn 5.

- Heart-to-heart talk with Pyre Spark.

- Some "DB House" talk.

- Showing Engine of Salvation around.

- A talk with Flame That Marched Against The Sea.

Short arc:

- The Diamond Seas Invitational Martial Arts Tournament (split in Mortal League and Exalted League)

Then, we go on with Nysela's Summer Camp.

Missing anything? Anything that you'd want me to add?

It would probably be better to ask that after we've done it once. >>1523794
It's not. Generally speaking if a manse/demesne is in tribal lands you can assume that it's theirs. That means that your Lunars will use the buildings and the hearthstones.

Keep in mind that there might be demesnes that are still unreported on this map, as in, you have not discovered them yet. They will probably be of low power.

(Keep also in mind that access to hearthstones is a big component in how useful all your Essence Artillery is. Some weapons can work off single-shot cartridges, but it's inefficient, wasteful, and wears down the machines very fast.)

>>1523808
True. It's not like they won't let you use hearthstones if you ask for them, I'd imagine.

>>1523804
>And I take it that the anchors on the map are supposed to be ports, but if that is the case the city of Freeport doesn't actually have one.
It doesn't have a SERIOUS dock, let's say. Up to now. Remember, it's been a pirate hive and scum and villainy up to now. The anchor represents a proper useable commercial port.

As of now (end of the timeskip), Freeport has been completely incorporated into your government and constructions for a more proper dock has begun.
Image: More maps. This one is pretty accurately to scale: one hex in the map I posted earlier is 6km.

If you want to know, those unmarked islands between Tianna and the Neck are islands that are largely uninhabited or inhabited by a scant few tribes of savages and Wyld barbarians, infested by kaijuus, or stuff like that. they have no real government or political presence.

(If you're wondering if you can expand there: yes, you can, but not overnight. For now, your focus has been to organize the actually populated and manageable places you have: Tianna and the Neck.)

Val knows a way to make Terrestrial aspect demanses Celestial. So if we're giving one to Tia, shouldn't we make it Lunar?
I'm assuming Val is going to be at least tangentially involved in capping these demanses. If she isn't, ignore this suggestion.
>>
>>1523815

Val can try, but it's not a thing that you can always do on every manse and it always works. Some demesnes are more receptive, others less, the process requires special materials, etc.

Start rolling me d2s. a result of 1 means that manse will not get a +1, a result of 2 means it will.

First 4 dice rolled count. Fifth dice checks if you can turn one of these demesnes to a Lunar manse. (not that you WILL, just that she CAN. Whether she does or not is up for discussion.)

Done. I'd assume that Irene gets the Air 2, Tia gets the Lunar 2, and Maka gets the Wood 2 and Fire 3, unless you want to give them away to someone.

Your new crown counts as a hearthstone amulet, so it contains one hearthstone slot. That's where you keep Golden Reach's hearthstone. It counts as clothing, so you can keep it Elsehwere with Kaleidoscopic Garment Dance. Essentially you only need it to oversee the functions of Golden Reach, so it doesn't have a practical use.

Your brawling aids (Love&Justice and Hopes&Dreams) have a total of four hearthstone slots, of which one is occupied by the Hearthstone of Gender Change.

...Incidentally, only your highest-rated hearthstone counts for giving you extra Essence, but all attuned hearthstones still give you their own unique powers.

I will decide what the hearthstones came out as, but i'm also open to suggestions.

Oh, also a good idea. She did join us to advance herself. While I consider her loyal by now, it's good to show we remember that. So Val could get the Fire 3 one. Which is honestly better for her, since a number of the really nifty things that require hearthstones demand at least three dots.

On another matter, I was thinking that we might want to try and improve our mortal bureaucrats. Considering how often we've had and will likely continue to have to leave Tianna to deal with something, it'd be good to have people we can trust to run it effectively. Not that we don't already, but I'd like to improve them through Harmonious Academic Methodology or something. I think that'd be something up Mikahil's alley, if he'd want to investigate the Charm tree. It'd kind of be a Thousand Streams River Lite with a Solar twist. Work on Golden Reach is officially declared completed by Amata on the 20 of Descending Wood. There are still a lot of empty rooms, but it's "made to grow into", she says.

The "base" of Golden Reach (and the part that had been completed before the timeskip) is three stories tall, plus an expansive underground section.

This portion of the manse is heavily fortified.

Underground: Hearthstone focal room, arsenal, military facilities, command room, secret passages.

Ground floor: Weapon emplacements, fortifications, servant's quarters, workshops, storage area, baths, temple to the Unconquered Sun.

(The ground floor is meant to be a common area. The non-military sections are open to the public.)

Second Floor: Administrative offices, libraries, Maka's throne room. AI core. Silk's Wyld containment room.

(The offices and libraries are generally open to the public.)

Third Floor: Gardens, open air auditorium, plazas. Has a retractable roof cover.

(This area, too, is generally open to the public)

From the third floor, the "tower" portion of the Manse emerges. This is unfortified (still sturdy, but useless in case of a siege for example, and generally not of any military or administrative use)

A lot of this is empty spaces that can be repurposed in the future. It's 200 meters and 30 stories tall and absolutely dominates the relatively flat landscape of western Tianna.

(Valeriana is sad that she couldn't build much higher, but she was worried that a taller structure might have been unstable in case the Titan was ever to take to the skies. She could've made it five times taller, she says, given time and materials. She's boasting, but you don't think she's lying.)

Your bedroom is in this portion of the Manse. Tia has given the specifications to Valeriana. That probably explains the extra-sturdy, extra-bouncy, olympic-swimming-pool-sized bed.

The entire manse includes amenities like water taps, Essence lights, self-opening doors, and much more.
>>
My vote is for Samiel getting the Fire and Zareen getting the Wood.

We'd be the best when we're around, but we don't have to worry when we aren't.

He'll work on that. Improving Tianna's governance is right up his alley.

I have to leave shortly, so no replies from me for a while, but i'll read everything when i get back home, and reply.

Don't worry, when we take the Blessed Isle, it will be her job to build a place for our new Celestial Deliberative, and that will need to be as fancy, and as huge, as possible.

Don't confuse the manse for the hearthstone, we can do those things with the actual building and still have the jewel to give to whoever we want.
>>
>>1524100
It'd basically be a space elevator between Mount Meru and Yu Shan, so gods and Exalts can go up and down it to do their business. The Deliberative chamber can be a blossoming section in the middle that expands outwards miles above Creation.

>>1524090
Come to think of it, Val is probably doing a lot of the manse design. She might already have some ideas in mind of the ideal manse and hearthstone she'd want for herself. Though I think every Twilight should at least have a Memory Stone
>>
>>1524104
No, using the manse to improve the area around it makes the hearthstone powerless. That's why the Hearthstone on our crown is just a pretty rock despite coming from a 5-dot manse.
>>1524110
>Come to think of it, Val is probably doing a lot of the manse design. She might already have some ideas in mind of the ideal manse and hearthstone she'd want for herself.
When I eventually give Val her own manse I want it to be a 5-dot Solar one, so she can do what she wants with it. That may be a pipe dream, as we had to convert a regular terrestrial manse into a Solar one, and then pump background dots into it to make Golden Reach into the 5-Dot Solar manse it is today, but ideally that's how I'd want it to play out.

>Keep in mind that there might be demesnes that are still unreported on this map, as in, you have not discovered them yet. They will probably be of low power.
This and the uninhabited islands really makes me want to put together some kind of Lewis and Clark expedition to get us ready for expansion when the time comes.

>>1524112
A 5-dot manse may be out of reach for a while (since you could make a Factory-Cathedral if you had one), but there's still good stuff Val can set up on weaker ones.

Per Oadenol's Codex, a three-dot power:

>WORKSHOP MANSE
>Appropriate Craft (for us, Twilight) at 5

>Built for a long-ago craftsman of the Shogunate or before, the manse is one of the most well-equipped workshops in Creation today. The player chooses a Craft, whether mundane such as Water or esoteric such as Magitech or Genesis, to which her Workshop is dedicated. Those working there have the tools to repair virtually any wonder falling under that Craft’s purview. It is a flawless workshop for artifact construction (see p. 28); if for Magitech or Genesis, it is a four-dot workshop for purpose of repairs on such items (see Wonders of the Lost Age, p. 9).

In theory I'm not opposed to the idea.
However, it might discourage some people from coming who otherwise would.
On the other hand, it might encourage some people who otherwise wouldn't. On the third hand, I'm not sure if we want that kind of person, ie martially capable perverts, hanging around. I mean yes, several of our circle mates, and Maka herself, fall into that category, but they have proven they can behave themselves. Offering "sex with the queen" as a prize in a martial arts tournament might give people the impression that we're trying to build a different kind of city than we actually are. Yes, we're perverts, and yes, sometimes we can go a bit far when convincing people to have sex with us. But we've never physically forced anyone, and I can't remember using charms to talk people into sex. Though we've certainly used them during it.
>>
>>1524178
>But we've never physically forced anyone
Actually, I just remembered that one Immaculate Monk. But he raped us back so I call it even.
>>
>>1524178
Sex with Maka could fall under a boon if the winner chose.
>>
Incidently, a three dot fire manse is able to produce one of my favorite hearth stones:
The Fire Dragon's Scale.
When striking the bearer of this hearthstone, the weapon in question is superheated to the point of the offender taking damage and usually dropping the weapon.
>>
>>1524180
>¨We're raping each other. It's complicated.¨
That was the best response in any quest. Ever.

>>1524181
Imho it does. But we should be careful not to allow mortals to do that. I mean sex with Maka would be as unhealthy as the GoD or that siddie charm that temporally transforms a mortal into an elemental riding Dragon.
>>
>>1524284
Yeah, I glanced at that one, too. I'd say it would be great for our weaponless Twilight, but we never bring her to combat as it is.
>>
>>1524296
It's a fair choice for them, and an easy reward for us to grant. It could even motivate them to do become better.
>>
I'm back home!

Getting settled down and reading everything soon.

We should build an Exalted Catapult to throw our exalted at the enemy. Use it for dynamic entries and combat drops.

>Sex with Maka could fall under a boon if the winner chose.

better to just have it an option. Not everyone is interested. (Amazing, I know.)

As for the hearthstones, you'll give the Wood 2 one to Zareen and the Fire 3 one to Samiel.

Zareen is flattered and hyped by the boon. She did honestly admit that she joined your service because she was expecting advancements and rewards while also doing some good (given that her previous employ was a mere assassin and she felt like she was wasting her talents). This goes a long way towards making her feel rewarded.

And Samiel, who already enjoys the benefits of quite a few artifacts, with the added power of this hearthstone has become an even more skilled fighter, closing the gaps with the celestials.

Neither Manse has any particular utilities for the land surrounding them. Valeriana did not design them to give any, because, she reasoned, you already have Golden Reach, which has as an extra effect that of increasing fertility on a vast area. That's why it's a 5-point manse creating a 0-level hearthstone. She felt like its effect was good enough.

On top of that, having too many manses close by all having the same or similar wide-area effects can upset the local geomancy, she explains. There might be ways to make arrays of manses working harmoniously over a vast area, but it's a very long-term, very large-scale project that she doesn't feel comfortable tackling now.

Incidentally, Valeriana enjoys the idea of a martial arts tournament. Her idea is to use this chance to experiment with multi-metallic artifacts to create a black jade Grand Daiklave (a magic material of which Tianna has a small surplus right now) with both orichalcum and moonsilver mixed in the construction.

She ropes in Zaan to help. He complains.

A few days later the Grand Dailkave "Ocean Dream" is born.

Our Circlemates are so cute.

Refresh my memory, Talon was Val's Lunar mate, right? Which would make Zaan Starfall's. Or have we not confirmed that yet?
>>

>A few days later the Grand Dailkave "Ocean Dream" is born.
Neat.
Does it do anything special, other than be really fancy even by Daiklave standards?
>>

Talon is Starfall's mate.

Zaan and Val hit it off but we aren't sure they're Mates or just mates.
>>
>>1525546
>A few days later the Grand Dailkave "Ocean Dream" is born.
eeeeeee!
>>
>>1525572
Exactly opposite, in fact! Maka did catch Val and Zaan in a moment of comfy intimacy (cleaning Zaan's ears), and he confirmed that they're mates. And, reluctantly, that they've done the deed.
>>
>>1525595
Huh, I was almost positive Talon was Val's.

>>1525610
I remembered that, but I remembered her cleaning Talon's ears.
I guess my brain just mixed them up somehow.

It's definitely something I want for Karas when we get the chance.

Something I wanted to ask Amata, but kept forgetting. Let's ask Amata about the language Pyre was speaking during our wedding Senpai came down. I'd love the chance to learn High Holy next time we raise Eclipse.
>>
I've been reading through old threads looking for inspiration, and I'm reminded of how much I love that scene with the two Dragon-Blooded in the Neck. It's just a perfect demonstration of Maka's character.

I wonder how rich the God of pornography is... with Dream Stones and the like, I suspect pretty well.

Wrong. Talon just finds Starfall really damn cute. At least that's what he feels. Could be a case of simply being wrong.
>>
>>1526424

Agreed, but heavy Orichalcum armor needs a lot of material and work.

She doesn't know that language, but she obliquely hints that she "knows people who can teach you that".

Assume that next time you raise Eclipse something relevant happens. (if i forget remind me. I'm gonna have to juggle a lot of stuff to remember here and something might slip me by.)

Could we have one of the preliminary rounds of the Tournament involve Silk playing the super villain?
Also would like to see her military designs IC

>Could we have one of the preliminary rounds of the Tournament involve Silk playing the super villain?

Silk isn't really a martial artist, but you could arrange something like that.
>>
>>1527375
If we get a ton of contestants we could have a qualifier round of having all of them fight against her and whoever survives that round moves on, but I worry she might be too much for the mortals to handle and I don't think we'd get enough Exalted participants to necessitate a qualifier round.

I more meant that she sends her soldier goblins against them while laughing like a supervision. Really, its more an excuse to see the soldier goblins that I designed a year ago.
>>
>>1527451
>Really, its more an excuse to see the soldier goblins that I designed a year ago.
We could just go see them if you want, I mean if EF is still taking suggestions for vignettes then one could be a wargame set up for training or even just going to check them out.

>Maka suggests that Karas play with Silk's soldiers.

>"NOT AGAAAIN!"
>>
>>1527546
Why is Karas surrounded by so many bullies? At least when Maka is bullied by Amata and Tia she can take it out on Karas. Who does Karas have to relieve all his pent up frustration on?
>>
>>1516286

Do you think Eskarin is bullied by Rankar Jr?
>>
>>1527774
Probably.
Mom and dad also probably bullied each other relentlessly. It is the only way I can fathom such bullyable children being conceived.
>>
>>1527774
I don't know, Eskarin gives off that feeling of being the black sheep of the family. Not in a bad way, just how she's smart and short with brown hair instead of tall and dumb with white hair.

I could honestly see her being the full-time bully.
>>
>>1527796

You both make convincing arguments. Clearly more research into the genetics of bullying is needed.

I'd say that this is the perfect point where to wrap up the thread.

I'll be busy for some time in the future, but as soon as i get some free time, i'll migrate the Quest to Akun with some of the vignettes and small scenes we agreed to run during the downtime.

It will feel strange to no longer be in 4chan, but I also think it will be for the better. I can't wait to not have to see another fucking captcha as long as I live, at the very least.

Thank you everyone for following Exalted Quest. I hope you'll still want to follow me even on the new site.

For this thread, the timeskip, and your participation up to now in Exalted Quest: Have the usual 2 XP per thread, plus 10 bonus XP as a special thank you prize.

Bought Dawn 5.

More XP are available to be spent, especially because I'm going to remove from the system the success-adder upgrades to your "excellency" charms, so the XP will be refunded.

You bought Dawn 5, and have 26 free XP. We'll spend those over on Akun when Exalted Quest restarts.

See you soon.

I also just remembered something I wanted to ask Mika. I wanted him to started up a secret net of information dealers and spies around the West and then the rest of Creation later on so we can lay the groundwork to find the knife Ocean Father wants and eventually the Eye the Alchemicals want.

Really this would better be left in the hands of Amata and Mika, a part of me thinks they might already have something like this going.
