You are Judah Ben Hibbeus sent on a quest by the King to defeat the pillaging Profiteer (pieces of gold be upon him).

You have been traversing the desert in search of the Profiteer's palace. Ever chasing after its blue domed mirage but try as you might you could never find the true palace.

After a battle with the desert hauntress, Nicki Miraj, you now posses the Mirage Mirror - an enchanted item that the sage cactuses assure you can help you find the true location of the palace.

But before trying the mirror and heading for the palace your curiosity sent you on a sidequest into a broken pyramid and a battle with a Golem, constructed by small robots.

You have tamed once enemy, turned pet and companion, /b/ the bee, and named him Screwbis Bundletwigs along the way. He has since proven useful and has even saved your life!

After fleeing the Golem created by the small robots, property of the Profiteer, you once again find yourself in the desert. Taking refuge in the settlement of the Sage cactuses, ready to continue your journey.

Thanks :)

You look into the Mirage Mirror.

"Belle?"

"Sorry, I'm not Belle."

"I see.." says the Beast, "Who are you, then?"

"I'm Judah."

"Mmm." He rubs his chin. "Have you seen Belle?"

"I have not." You pause, "Listen, I need to know how to use this mirror."

"While in the desert look into the mirror to see where you're going. Instead of seeing a mirage you will see the real destination and be able to travel in the right direction."

Sockpuppy, Puffers, and Judah all decide to leave the Sage cactus settlement - but not the same way they came in. Lest those pesky little robots follow her again, or forbid, the Golem spots her and and chases them all the way to the palace.

Once outside in the desert, she peers into her mirror and looks around through the reflection.

"Ah! There it is!" This time, she can see the palace with the blue domes clearly, it is no longer wavering, and you're sure you're heading in the right direction this time.

As you approach closer and close the palace gets larger, and larger still, until finally, it is standing before you. Most certainly no mirage.

And beside it is what appears to be a regular looking cactus. However, you know that must be the Cactus Trader, as that's one of the things you learned from the Sage Cactuses the last time you were at the settlement.

Should I use my cactus token to get a weapon?

And one final easter egg:

The Terrible Quest is based off an original quest I wrote that I named, The Incredible Quest!

I didn't originally intend to base the entire quest off of it, just the name mostly. But!

I was able to do it because you guys chose the Arabian Nights theme.

When I posted the original Incredible quest up here on 4chan not a single person played it! And so I saved the pictures and plans for later. Which you got to play here.

The picture attached here is the splash screen and here is the original quest if you're interested in reaching some of it:

https://pastebin.com/xm4vidEn
>>
*reaching = reading.

I think people aren't joining these quests lately because it's the end of the school year or something.

Because I've seen quests that were at least the same as mine in terms of quality, (at least I think.) do better than mine have.

I just don't know why mine didn't do well! Ah well.

And my final post...
>>
Final Post:

Yes I did zip to the ending cheaply quick. If you guys played it out it would have been longer
and of course fit the rest of the game pacing wise etc. And I feel a little bad for that, that it's not a proper end to the build up in the saga so far.

But impatience to get to the end drove me to end this saga. My apologies for finishing the quest abruptly like that, but nonetheless I hope you enjoyed viewing and playing this quest.

I have a little poll question for you players.

Now that the Profiteer quest in the Arabian Nights setting is over, should I start new saga
with a new quest from the King?

If so I was going to have it so that your characters gained in this quest, including the main (Judah) could be kept 'in waiting' for you to use in future quests and I would start this new quest the same as the other one. Letting you choose the setting and make the main character or choose to keep Judah as your main and the rest would be in holding if you wanted it that way - in that case you'd still get to choose a new setting.

Or should I give up on the Terrible Quest now that this saga is over?

Since it has no players. I'm not sure if starting a new saga would make new players want to

join or not.

I'm not sure if they're not joining because they find my quest uninteresting or if they're just intimidated that it's gone on so long that they might feel like they couldn't catch up if they tried to join/hop in now. Like if I call it Terrible Quest - Episode 7, would that turn people away because of the number? Or is this quest just not that interesting to most people so it wouldn't matter, kinda thing. I don't know.

So what I guess I'm asking is for you the player's input:

What do you guys think, should I continue the Terrible Quest but with a new/different quest from the king of course, or should I let this quest, the Terrible Quest, go, and consider it finished?

What do you guys think? Anyone feel free to chime in.

If I get silence for a long time - i.e. no replies to this - I'll just consider it dead, and give my deepest thanks to my players who played with me. You guys were awesome, you were fun, I thank you, for much, for spending your time with me and hopefully having a good time.

My love and God's blessings to you, everyone!

- Halp
>>
(Also the way it would work would be every character you gain in a saga would populate the "King's Court". They'd be like citizens in the kings castle where you could call on them any time, or go adventuring on your own.)
>>
>>1461542
I was already actively questing elsewhere so I couldn't manage to quest here as well.
Good content and art so far, so it's a bit of a shame this is one of the more quiet quests around.
I don't know what is keeping more players from joining in, might be the name, might be the same reasons as mine, might also be that there was a holiday yesterday.
>>
>>1461558
Damn, gutted I missed this again. However, the 'King's Court' idea sounds good, and starting afresh may help to pick up some new players. Don't lose heart, this is definitely one of the better quests on this board.
>>
>>1461542
Read since the 1st thread and I think it was really good, thanks senpai. I think you could keep it going but maybe renaming would draw in new questers.
>>
>>1464790
>>1465358
>>1466185

Thanks for the kindness everyone. I think renaming it could possibly help, that's a good suggestion.

I thought of literally just calling it "Drawquest".

You guys have any suggestions on what I should call my quests?

Well if I do make another one I'm sure you guys will be able to find me. I could keep the name 'halp' and/or you can probably recognize me by my art style.

Again, thanks for the support.
>>
>>1466621
I would recommend against another self-deprecating title. It's funny, but from my experience, those names tend to be associated with threads that end after 10 replies or which were created purely in jest. I'm speculating here, but after seeing the 100th derivative of 'bad quest' or whatnot, a typical anon is probably going to instinctively assume the worst and skip over the quest, despite whatever merits it may have. I think the first picture being a nebulous big guy with no apparent face didn't help matters, since it didn't highlight any noteworthy aspects of the possible adventures we might be having (or I might be retarded and missed something obvious).

Random question: Was the lack of significant party dialogue due to the fact that most members weren't humanoid or because they, being extensions of players, were made mute so we could more easily shape their personalities ourselves? Or something else?
>>
>>1466729
yeah basically this
>>
>>1466729
>>1467136
Mm, when I tried it as 'the incredible quest' I got 0 players, when I called it 'the terrible quest' I at least got one at a time, so maybe I should go with 'the mediocre quest' and I'll get a ton. XD hahaha

Mm, the lack of dialogue between you and your party members is due to the fact that all your party members are pet type creatures.

A bee, a cat, and a puppy - always meant to be a puppy, gary doesn't really 'exist' as far as the player is concerned except as a gag.

In the original quest that I tried to run, you would have been playing all separate characters (the color coded kinda quest like adventure thing) so there would be a lot more intelligent interaction.

I sort of like the surrealism of this quest though, it had an interesting exploratory atmosphere, because of that silence. You, interacting with very enigmatic characters, like the mini robots, the sage cactuses who only talk in information trade, etc. It gave it an interesting atmosphere.

But honestly it could have ended up being a very talkative game, depending on what setting you chose or just whatever.

The reason for the opening picture, a guy with a peanut for a head, was yah, just cause I thought it was funny.

I don't think it matters much what your quest pic looks like - I've seen quests that are not drawn quite as good as mine (not that mine was all the great or anything) get a lot more players.

I think it's a combination of a few things but I'm willing to bet the timing of the game has a lot to do with how little players I got.

End of the school year and all that.

Ah well, thanks for talking to me guys.

And by the way I was serious, just like in my game where you guys get to choose your name, or sex, etc. you could totally choose the title of my next quest and I'll use it if I happen to make another one so by all means give me write-in suggestions if you'd like.

Just make sure the name isn't ban-worthy.
>>
>>1466729
I guess I do subconsciously prefer the 'mute' type of mc, at least for drawing games. i never really thought about it until you said it. But I grew up loving Final Fantasy 7 and Chrono Trigger, two games that are famous for the protagonist saying next to nothing. (or in Crono's case, literally nothing.)

But yah, that's not a must. I'm also used to GMing table top games, so I'm used to my players providing the personality and dialogue for their character. I think that thinking carries over for me here too, where I think of the quester as responsible for the MC. Who knows. Interesting question though - I'll keep it in mind.
>>
Also fun fact, the opening post drawing for this episode was drawn with a real brush pen then photographed.

I probably should have taken more time on it, it could have been much better.

You guys probably already guessed but I don't spend very much time on my quest drawings because I like to try and respond quickly if someone shows up and plays.

I also like the freedom to draw badly for the sake of having fun and speeding up the game. That's another part of the reason I called it terrible quest.

So that there would be no pressure on me. I could make good drawings or terrible stick figure drawings, and it wouldn't matter, as long as the game was fun, and continued on at a good pace.

I'm capable of drawing pretty well, but the amount of time it takes to truly draw well is not good for gaming.

Aaaah. You are the one NaP stole his idea from. He made a similar thread a while ago and didnt know who to credit.

It was pretty successful. Lasted about 6 threads
>>
>>1467636

NotaPaladin using the color thing, there is a small chance of that, but only a very small round-about chance of that. It's more likely that someone else has done the color coded thing a long time ago and both of us just copied whoever that was.

I did the color coding originally in a literary quest rather than a drawing quest, and it wasn't quite the same.

I had each player name themselves after a character in the game so they could vote on 'their character' and I color coded the dialogue using formatting (red, blue, green).

I got the idea to do a color coded drawing thing from NaP so it's more likely the other way around, unless he was inspired by my literary quest, and then I was in turn inspired by him doing it with a drawing quest, so that in some extremely odd way it came back around to me.

>>1467556
I like Better Living Through Cheating, that sounds like it would be fun, and it's a funny title.

Let's make this official:

Anyone reading this post please vote on one of the follow - write ins STRONGLY encouraged, and if you like a write in, second it.

Keep in mind no matter what we name it, it will still be a different setting etc. every single time we play a saga, and that the Profiteer saga still counts as canon.
