Welcome back to Dark Empire Quest, where you the players aid the reborn Emperor Palpatine and Commander Alana Tyrna as they fight to rebuild the Empire after the crushing defeat at Endor and the subsequent collapse. We will guide their choices, deal with the consequences of their actions, and work to ensure the Empire rises once again.

You are Commander Alana Tyrna, commanding officer of the Victory II-Class Star Destroyer Splinter and her associated task force. After an abortive attempt at mutiny on board your new Lancer-Class Frigate, Turmoil, the mutineers are all dead or in captivity, with Turmoil herself in the hands of a skeleton crew under the command of a young, fiercely loyal ensign from the engineering section. Your Executive Officer, Lieutenant Tierce, was seriously wounded in the fight, though his condition is stable. Now, just as you were recovering from the mutiny and the apparent hijacking of Thrasher, word came in that Kuat was attacked, and shortly behind it, a Rebel fleet here to apparently attack Trellen's orbital facilities

Your fleet is out of position, the business with Thrasher and Turmoil[ delayed your approach, and now the Rebels had a head start for Trellen.

Trellen itself is a moderately populated world that has seen a modicum of prosperity because of its strategic position at the intersection of two Hyperspace lanes. Trellen is no Commenor, but it sees a fair amount of trade. Or at least it did before the collapse of the Empire. Since Endor, the desiccated garrison was beefed up under a series of warlords until at last it returned to the true leadership of the Reborn Emperor. Primarily, it has a civilian orbital Highport, a small naval repair depot, and an aging Golan I defense platform. The Golan has a handful of turbolaser batteries, enough to make smaller capital ships think twice about their approach, as well as a squadron of Tie/Lns.

These defenses, manned by aging and poorly trained troops likely won't last long against the Rebel fleet alone.

"Send forward the Ties and Carracks, but leave the Avengers with us," you command, "Standing orders are to stay close to the Golan and fight off enemy fighters."

As your orders are executed, you mentally take stock of the Rebel attack fleet approaching Trellen. It's a smallish force, based on what you've heard is rumored to come down on Kuat. That being said, this particular fleet carries with it only a handful of transports, not enough force to land troops, on the planet.

As you watch your fighters scream away, toward the orbital complex, you know a small reserve fleet exists at Fedalle. You could smash these rebels completely if you just had one Imperial-Class star destroyer at your disposal. You could probably call for one from Fedalle. It would arrive after some delay for jump time, but it would also be drawing from the same reserves ear-marked for use at Kuat, which you know is currently embroiled in its own fight against the Rebels. Rumor has it the Emperor himself laid a trap intended to smash the upstart rebel fleet.

There is no need to trouble the Emperor's fleet. A handful of outdated rebel cruisers was no match for your forces. Despite this, you can't help but nervously chew your lip as your Ties close in on the Golan. Within seconds, your fighters clash with the Rebel snubfighters in close range of the Golan, amidst bursts of laser fire and exploding craft. Both sides are matched in numbers, and despite the technical and skill disparity, your fighters are holding their own so far. The Golan's defensive batteries help even the odds by thinning the ranks of the Rebel fighters, knocking out the unlucky and the foolish.

Your two Carracks are pressing into the fray, edging toward the Golan under the cover of turbolaser fire when a squadron of X-Wings breaks from the dogfight and executes a tight strafing run against Obligation, proton torpedoes detonating against its shields followed by a flurry of laser fire.

On the tactical display, Obligation's silhouette turns amber as her shields collapse under the sudden strain. A Tie squadron shoos the enemy X-wings back, but damage is done. You see that four of the Rebel squadrons are engaged with your fighters, while two squadrons of Y-Wins and one of X-wings escorting them hold back with the main fleet.

The Rebel fleet will be entering firing range momentarily, your own fleet is lagging slightly behind.

You order the Carracks back, to shelter behind the bulk of the Golan station, trying to ward off any close threats with firepower. Your own fleet continues to close, but the rebels get there first.

The Rebel fleet passes into optimum firing range and collectively opens fire on the Golan. The barrage is intense, red laser fire streaming against the battle station, collapsing its shields and tearing into its armor. The fire is met in kind by the Golan, weakening the Assault Frigate's shields and devastating a Nebulon-B, its shields falter and fail and the armor starts taking hits. The Nebulon-B begins to turn, shying away from the Golan's guns.

Now your own fleet is entering range, excited orders called back and forth on the bridge and weapons systems are made ready.

"Ma'am, Ensign Renzor requesting permission to advance Turmoil into the dogfight," your tactical officer says.

"Denied. Keep him close in. We fight as one and we don't know which way those rebel bombers will go," you reply, fixated on the battle ahead as it looms larger and larger. The rebel fleet comes into range of your guns at almost the same moment the Rebel Y-wings and their escort accelerate to attack speed and angle themselves toward the Golan. The general chaos of the fighter fray means they pass through unmolested, running the gauntlet of fire coming from the Golan where a handful of Y-wings are smashed to pieces. But they aren't dissuaded, they unleash their payload across the Golan, fireballs blossoming across its surface, a number of guns going offline and a deck visibly losing power.

You don't have time to worry about it, your own batteries open fire on the rebel fleet. Capital ships all around you are trading fire, your own ship focusing on the grotesque, oblong arrowhead shape of the MC75. Your Victory has her outgunned, and the miracle precision Zepal's gunners provide means you are hammering away at her shields with wild abandon, leaving her reeling.

"Concentrate firepower on that Mon Cal ship," you order.

"Let's give Vells some Nerfs to chase," you muse, "Have the Avengers hunt down those Y-Wings."

***

"You heard the order, boys," Vells says, his voice modulated by his helmet microphone, "We're going to introduce the Rebs to our new fighters. Full throttle, no mercy. Clear?"

There were a half dozen affirmatives and the Avenger squadrons were accelerating into the battle, leaving the Imperial fleet behind.

The Rebels were caught "flat-footed" peeling off of their attack runs, preparing to make another. Vells jukes his fighter in behind a Y-wing executing a painfully slow turn and pressed his firing toggles. Emerald fire flashed out, dancing cross one of the Y-Wing's nacelles, detonating it, sending the fighter careening away, caught in the fatal embrace of Trellen's gravity well.

All around him, the scene was being repeated a dozen times, return fire from the Y-wings was confused and sporadic, they'd never faced Ties like these. Vells dipped under a Y-wing as it exploded and fire a burst at a passing X-wing, its shields absorbing the fire, though just barely.

"Like shooting womp rats in a barrel!" Vells called triumphantly.

***

You grin at the site of the flashing icons across your tactical display. The Y-wings have been virtually wiped out, to a fighter, a handful of them survived, limping away under the protection of a reduced X-Wing Squadron. That reduced the fighter threat to your task force, for the moment.

The fighter tangle around the Golan is starting to thin, attrition telling on your not-so-survivable Tie/Lns

"Commander, the Golan's commander reports he's authorized evacuation of the battle station, main systems are failing!"

You see as much through the view port, the Golan's targeting systems must be failing since it's last few dying shots fail to hit anything of note. At this point, the rebel fleet is splitting, half under the MC75 is bearing down on you, while the rest, under the Assault Frigate, appear to be continuing to advance on the highport.

You grab a nearby terminal for balance as Splinter takes a particularly vicious hit from the Mon Cal ship, though her own shields are faltering and failing under your sustained barrage.

"Shields at 50% effectiveness, ma'am."

Scylla and Praetor are focusing on the corvettes and escort ships. The CR90 corvettes are holding reasonably well, but the GR75s are like nerfs to the slaughter, shields crumpling under the barrage.

"They're going after the highport," you muse aloud, "Have Vells take his new toys and do what he can to stop that Assault Frigate." your underlying scurry to execute your orders. You pace up the length of the command deck to stand directly beside the transparisteel view port. It was a nerve-racking place to be, so close to void and screaming death. But it afforded you the best view of the developing chaos.

"Commander! The fighters . . ." Your tactical officer is at a loss for words. A glance at the tactical map shows you why, your Tie defensive line has completely broken. Those damnable new fighters, the E-Wings wrought havoc on them. Your interceptors fared slightly better, but couldn't stand up to the numbers arrayed against them. Even as you're filled with silent, helpless fury, you can't help but wish for even more of these new Avenger fighters. It's readily apparent to you how the Rebels managed to do so well with a full modern fighter force. Even those hapless Y-Wings had shields and hyperdrives! Not to mention a compliment of torpedoes.

It didn't matter now, the rebel fighters were beginning to regroup, though their number was whittle down to about half what it was at start.

"Send word to the Avengers. Have them be on guard for a sudden shift in numbers where they are," you can't do much more than warn them at the moment. Hopefully between those Avengers and your Lancer, you'll be able to deal with the remaining rebel fighters.

Another nearby terminal begins flashing urgently. You recognize the sound.

"Our deflector shields are down, ma'am!"

"Raise them. At once!" You reply, knowing such orders do nothing to increase your technician efficiency under fire.

The MC75 takes a withering hit from your turbolasers, a brief blast of vented atmosphere shows you that you're through their armor in places and striking critical systems. It's pulling back now to be screened by a Nebulon-B Frigate. One of the other screening ships, one of the laughable GR75 "gunships" detonates after a salvo from Scylla.

You are peripherally aware of the situation near the Golan's remains, your two Carracks are forced out from cover to engage the oncoming rebel force, all that stands between them and the highport.

>Withdraw those Carracks and Avengers. They won't stand a chance, let the rebels do their worst on the port

"Commander, the Rebels are making an attack run on the highport!"

You see the blinking icons of rebel fighters closing in on the virtually defenseless port. Damn! Blast! You had hoped they would come after either you or Vells.

The measly handful of laser cannons the port has do little to dissuade the enemy fighters. You see ruby beams dance across the repair depot and torpedos detonating amongst pressurize modules, some of which rupture venting their contents, fuel, supplies, or even atmosphere and people.

The rebels likely don't have the fire power to destroy the port, but they can do it grievous harm.

Your bombers are harassing the MC75, and without the intervention of that Nebulon B, will likely kill it before it reaches the Hyper limit. Vells forces are holding for now, but those Carracks are on shaky legs and may not last against that Assault Frigate. Any single ship you send to the highport is likely to be overwhelmed by enemy fighters. The only safe bet would be to send the entire task force after them, though you can always take a gamble and split your forces again.

Your fleet breaks off from the crippled MC75 and its escort, which begins to immediately recover escape pods from the wrecked capital ship. Your bombers continue to harass the Mon Cal cruiser, dropping more ordinance into it as it tries to escape, though they have to avoid the guns of the Nebulon-B hovering nearby.

Vells' squadrons peel away from the battle and race for the highport being savaged by the rebel fighters. Two squadrons of X-wings tangle with the Avengers, weaving in and out of the latice framework of the highport and trading shots at point blank range. Within short order, both sides had sustained heavy losses, with Vells formations down to about half strength.

Your task force races toward the Assault frigate, guns blazing, though you're in time to witness its escort craft torn to bits by concentrated fire from the Carracks, though Obligation takes a withering blow from the assault frigate, knocking out her shields and forcing a main reactor shut down, leaving that ship dead where she floats. Already the rebels are backing off, hoping to avoid coming under Splinter's guns.

At this point, their objective satisfied, or their forces sufficiently savaged, the Rebels begin executing a withdrawal, their fighters breaking off from the highport, joined by their surviving capital ships. Racing, not for the hyper limit, but for the moon, which possess its own, small gravitational signature that would disrupt hyperspace jumps. It’s not an ideal escape point, and is an unusual choice for the rebel commander.

It's possible that they're retreating towards the moon specifically because it's an unusual thing to do and would throw us off balance. In that case there would be no trap, but they're acting like there is a trap in order to escape.

I agree that's unlikely, though, especially given our reputation as a fight at all costs commander. It would be a hell of a gamble for the rebels to willingly lead themselves into a place they can't escape from by assuming we won't follow and will psyche ourselves out.

It's patently obvious you've already won this fight. You see no reason to risk your forces just to pursue the remainder. You take the time to reassemble your forces and reassess your situation.

Your Tie bombers did successfully "sink" that Mon Cal Cruiser before withdrawing, the rebel force has been absolutely decimated. Obligation is out of action, but intact. Your fighter contingent consists of two half strength Avenger squadrons and most of a Tie Bomber squadron. You'll be filling out yet another requisition for more Ties (Avengers this time, hopefully) and more pilots. The remnants of the rebel fleet gather not far out of the expansive debris cloud left behind by the battle, burning hard for Vyaalec.

You are still trying to puzzle out why they would do that when you see the flicker of pseudo-motion near the moon. Inbound hyperspace jumps. It seems you weren't the only ones with reserves a few jumps away. The rebels used the small, specific mass shadow of Vyaalec to bring their forces out of hyperspace at a precise spot. Had it been better timed, and if you'd fallen for it, you would likely have found yourself in the midst of a fresh rebel fleet. Tricky.

The forces assembled here are immediately familiar to you. A Dauntless-Class heavy cruiser, a second Assault Frigate, their usual escort of fighters (X-wings), and a Carrack Cruiser with hastily painted red star birds on its flanks. It looks like you found the missing Thrasher after all.

You take stock of the situation quickly. The rebel forces there don't seem interested in pressing they attack as much as they do in ensuring the remainder of their fleet escapes successfully, they hold a fairly constant position near Vyaalec. It may be possible for you to run down the straggling fleet rushing to link up with the new arrivals, though this may also invite the Rebels to renew their attack. Not to mention would take you off the defensive and back onto the offensive.

You chuckle, startling some nearby midshipmen. They think they can get away so easy?

"Helm, give chase. Keep formation, but advance at best speed on the enemy."

"Yes, ma'am!"

Your task force advances as one, save for Obligation which you hope is a small enough target that the Rebels simply won't bother with it. You're soon gaining on the fleeing rebels, though worryingly, as your sensor operator has pointed out, they don't seem to be taxing their sublights too much. It seems they want you to follow. Very well, you're happy to oblige. Your bow guns fire, the range is extreme, but it's not intended to be decisive, just harassment fire.

Then, you are within firing range, the Assault Frigate starts to come about, bringing its guns to bear on you while your escorts engage one another. You trade salvos, knocking out the Frigate's shields once again, but losing your own, turbolaser fire starting to strike your hull with tremendous ferocity.

The enemy fighters dive on Vells reduced formations, the X-Wings tying them up while the E-wings swoop through and pick off the stragglers, it's far from a fair fight, Turmoil, your Lancer-Class anti-starfighter frigate does its best to even the odds through weight of fire, but her inexperienced gunners and greatly reduced crew numbers leave her usefulness as anything other than a light show, questionable. Fortunately, the gunners aboard Splinter and your other escorts are able to take up some of the slack, though at the cost of reduced fire concentrated on the capital ships.

Comscan shows the relief Rebel force is burning hard for their beleaguered comrades, their X-Wing escort will be arriving shortly.

Vells pulled back on his control yoke as hard as the system would allow him, his inertial compensator fought to keep up, resulting in him pull a few Gs on his turn. He passed through the debris cloud left behind by another Tie Avenger less fortunate than him, and lined up a shot on one of the damned E-Wings. By the Core they were fast, but this one wasn't fast enough. It erupted into a cloud of debris on a high speed trajectory toward deep space

As Vells depressed the firing stud, he heard on his comlink the cries of other Avenger pilots falling prey to the sheer weight of enemy numbers.

He grit his teeth, pained expression hidden behind his mask. He could only do so much, dammit! If only he'd had another squadron of Avengers then maybe-

A frantic beeping interrupted his thoughts. Targeting system lock. He jammed his foot into the left pedal, hauling his craft over when the proton torpedo detonated behind him, ripping his fighter to shreds.

***

Both Avenger squadrons are picked off, wiped out to the last dueling the Rebels. This leaves behind about two dozen rebel fighters all together, most of which are E-wings.

"Ma'am, Might of Eriadu is requesting permission to withdraw, her shields have gone down."

"Have her pull back but maintain formation, she is not authorized to retreat!" you reply.

You take some comfort seeing your Strikes savaging the Nebulon Bs, one of them lost her shields, the other is taking serious damage and has power fluctuations across the ship. Not quite a kill, but it's on death's door step.

You and the Assault Frigate trade shots, neither having the upper hand, though in a fight of attrition, your ship will come out bloody, but ahead. As the Rebels start to chew through your armor though, you heard more and more frequently damage control teams being dispatched. The latest sent to control and atmosphere leak near the bow.

Scylla has had her shield generator damaged and is fairly ravaged by fire. Still operational, but only a few more good hits would change that. Praetor is fully combat ready. Splinter herself is without shields again, and has lost about 1/3 of her forward armor plating. Now, and perhaps worst, you are utterly without fighter cover, you have a mostly full-strength squadron of Tie bombers, but sending them out would be a death sentence against such overwhelming odds. Turmoil's weight of fire has kept herself safe from Rebel fighters, and even managed to pick off a few as her gunners improve under pressure.

The Assault Frigate you're facing is in similar straits to your own ship, being without shields and having a good amount of her armor blown away, though a fresh Assault Frigate is not far behind.

>Pull back to the highport, perhaps its gunners can do SOMETHING to help even the odds
>Send the Bombers out anyway, perhaps Turmoil can provide enough cover for another attack run on the Assault Frigate

From reading this battle I completely understand how our nickname came about
>>
"Send our bombers after that Assault Frigate," you say, your coms officer relaying your orders. "Turmoil will have to do their best to cover them." You finish speaking and look up through the view port at the oncoming Rebel capital ships, and the fighters swooping throughout your formation. "Someone has to give," you say under your breath, "no matter the cost, someone has to give."

That wraps this session! Whew, lots of dice rolling and tracking on my end. Didn't expect this battle to go on so long. We'll wrap it up next session looks like.

Speaking of next session, that's probably going to be Wednesday 7 EST, (11 UTC) since I have some major projects at work that I need to focus on. I'm working on a more regular schedule that still gives me time for work and life etc. I'm THINKING of doing "Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, repeat". Gives 2 day break between sessions.

In any case, tune in Wednesday for the conclusion to the Battle of Trellen!

As always, follow on Twitter for more specific updates and things.

Game time, 45 minutes!

Welcome back to Dark Empire.

Previously, the Splinter Task Force was locked in mortal combat high above Trellen, near its moon Vyaalec. Your capital ships, save a stricken Carrack, are intact and combat effective for the most part. Though your entire fighter compliment has been wiped out except for a squadron of Tie bombers, currently being launched against the overwhelming Rebel numbers.

The aim was to smash the fleeing Rebel forces before they linked up with their fresh reinforcements. It looks like that now won't be possible.

As always follow Twitter for updates and game times.

***

Your Tie Bombers, Lancer, and point defense gunners fail to do anything to stop the Rebel fighters, the Bombers unable to get good missile locks at the close ranges and high speeds of the engagement, though the bombers now give the Rebel fighters a fresh target, drawing them off of your capital ships at least.

The Strikes continue to trade fire with the two Nebulon-Bs. Scylla's armor is completely shot through, though both Nebulon's have lost their shields, and one looks to be losing structural integrity.

Meanwhile you and the Assault Frigate trade shots, rending great holes in one another's hull plating.

While you hold onto the frame of the bridge view port to avoid stumbling during the barrage, you look to port and see the fresh X-wing escort that arrived with the Rebel reinforcements locking S-foils and banking in for an attack run on Scyllla. Your sole remaining Carrack cruiser, Might of Eriadu fires at them as they pass, picking off a pair of fighters, but nothing more.

You watch, cringing as proton torpedoes detonate across Scylla's hull. Some of the torpedoes punch through to critical systems beyond, unleashing fireballs and gouts of smoke and flame. The X-Wings bank away, harried by haphazard turbolaser fire.

"Transmission from Scylla, ma'am! Captain Tyvek is requesting that we withdraw!"

You surveyed the tactical display with a reluctant eye. You have a victory now, but you can also sense the initiative shifting to the Rebellion, they could easily snatch victory from you.

"Very well," you reply, "Confirm with Captain Tyvek we're withdrawing the task force to the highport, for whatever good that will do."

"Ma'am!" the coms officer confirms.

Soon your ships are falling back, the Rebels seem content to let you part ways, trading only sporadic fire with you, their fighters breaking off.

Then, once united, the Rebel force pulls back to hang in orbit of Vyaalec. A strange sort of stalemate quickly develops. While your forces lick their wounds, your technicians scrambling to restore functionality to your shields and damaged ship components, you watch the fat white forms of Lambda shuttles flitting amongst the debris, recovering any surviving downed pilots, and the occasionally
stray rebel escape pod.

You furtively hope that Vells is among those fished from the void, though you can't spend much time worrying about it. It falls to you to determine the next course of battle.

"We'll let the rebels come to us," you tell your tactician. "Also, send a message to Admiral Yazz, inform him we're currently in a standoff with a sizeable Rebel force but holding our own."
The ensign scurries off to complete this task.

As the minutes pass, the rebels suddenly act, turning as one and advancing for the Hyperlimit, slow enough that it's not a rout, but deliberate enough that makes it clear they've had enough. It seems they don't want to "roll the dice" again and risk turning a setback into a crushing defeat. That, or perhaps they've had a setback somewhere else. After all, yours is not the only combat theater at the moment.

"Let them run," you say, forcing a smile, "We'll chalk up another victory for the empire!"

It pains you watching and doing nothing as the Rebels slink to the hyperlimit and collectively jump for safety, likely back to Humbarine, but instinctively you know doing so jeopardizes your force, and thus Trellen itself.

"Ma'am, report from Adrmial Yazz." An ensign hands you a data pad which you quickly skim.

Corellia secured. Situation under control. My compliments to Commander Tyrna. Reinforcements inbound to help hold the system. Glory to the Emperor.

You smirk at his report.

"I also have the casualty reports you requested, ma'am," the ensign says when you're done reading.

"Any word on Lieutenant Vells?"

"He's listed as a patient in sickbay. He was picked up toward the end of his life support limit. He's listed in critical care."

You nod, Vells was a pilot who knew the risks. If he was lucky, he would make a full recovery and be back in a cockpit soon. If not . . . He may end up as an organic flight computer in a Shadow Droid. You weren't sure if that possibility was worth than death or not. "What about Lieutenant Tierce?"

"Stabilized, he suffered a number of blaster wounds, he's being given an intense bacta treatment."

"I see."

"The highport suffered moderate damage and light casualties, but with a once over from a repair crew, should be operational again soon. "As far as Obligation She's not much worse off than anyone else. Her reactor was taken offline as a safety measure to prevent accidental leakage or explosion. "Prepare a stormtrooper escort, I'd like to have some words with our guest, Mr. Ralitar."

It doesn't take long to find a squad of troopers to take you down to the brig which is rapidly filling up with Rebel POWs, picked up from the escape pods still drifting in the void. You are led down the long, dark hall until you reach the cell Ralitar had been stored in. At your nod, the head of the trooper detachment keys in the code to open the door and you step down into the cell.

Former Lieutenant Ralitar sits on the small, spartan bench, staring ahead at the wall. His lip is bleeding and he had a black eye you don't remember him having when he was escorted away.

Ralitar looks to you expectantly, but you let a moment pass in silence. You adjust your posture, straightening your back before speaking.

"Sergeant, who's responsible for the condition of this prisoner?" you ask.

The trooper hesitates a moment, "Ma'am, the prisoner's condition has been recorded as incurred while resisting apprehension."

You personally watched Ralitar walked off without a fight and somehow doubted he decided to put up a struggle later. "I would like the security tapes review. I want th individual or individuals involved identified, and I would like to see them promoted."

The sergeant is silent a moment, "Yes, ma'am, of course." He signals one of the other troopers to execute your orders.

Now, business in hand, you turn back to the prisoner. "You scum." you sneer, "You disgust me."

Ralitar shakes his head, "Somehow I expected more from the Baroness."

He's no conscript. He has an outer rim-accent. The other ship that mutinied immediately went over to the Rebels. This is not a case of some traitorous cowards seizing a ship and fleeing to the outer rim. This was a planned military event executed by rebel infiltrators to sap the fighting spirit of our men and seize our ships. This man, if we can even call him that, is and always has been a rebel

To add to this post, we need to bring our findings to high command and determine how this infiltrator was able to be listed as a conscript. There's a very good chance someone high up in the conscript induction program is deliberately allowing rebel infiltrators into positions of power in the fleet. We need to find out who that is and deal with them appropriately.
>>
"Rebels and traitors deserve no respect in the eyes of an officer. You're less than human." you say this while staring down your nose at him.

Ralitar looks nervous, but otherwise hardly reacts. "I could say the same thing about an officer in a system that systematically dehumanizes others."

"It doesn't matter what you think." You snap back, "Some of my best men are either dead or critically injured because of you. And after I gave you a chance as my XO no less."

"I'll remind you, it wasn't a posting I requested," Ralitar retorts.

You shake your head, ignoring his quip "After everything the Empire has given you, after all the trust that was placed in you, how could you turn your back on us? I am genuinely curious how you could betray us."

Ralitar stares a moment before replying, "It's easy when you don't buy into the system of lies." Ralitar waits a moment for you to silence him, and when you don't, he continues. "Do you think your Emperor cares about you? Look at what he's done to the people of worlds who seek self-determination! Look at Alderaan, look at Ghorman, look at Balmorra! Millions of people killed, just for trying to live their lives the way they want! And what does he do when he can't get willing participants for his war machine? He rounds people up wholesale and forces them to fight at the end of a blaster."

You sniff indignantly, "As far as I see it, your little rebellion has been the source of instability in the galaxy. Before them, we had peace and prosperity. Now we have war. Balmorra was punished for daring to betray the empire that gave them those things. As a symbol of what will happen to all those who defy us."

"What will you do? Turn every world into a sea of rubble and call it peace?"

"I hardly think that will be necessary. Cut off the head to kill the snake. We needn't pluck out each scale."

(1/2)
>>
Ralitar has no response for this.

"I'm sure you know my reputation and the lengths I will go to to get answers, but I'd much rather you cooperate. You say I am the only Imperial to have ever shown you any respect, that shall likely continue to be the case. If you do not answer me truthfully and in full, then I am afraid I shall have to turn the interrogation over to lieutenant Tierce, who I believe has a personal grudge in this case."

"Showing me respect is rewarding the men who did this to me?" he points at his face. "You're twisted."

You brush off his retort, "First, please tell me, how long have you been working for the Rebels? I presume they recruited you from the outer-rim and then sent you to the core to infiltrate the Imperial Navy?"

Ralitar laughs weakly, "I was a little lackey, a cog in the machine like you for most of my time. Ever since the navy pressed me in from Atravis. I did what I was told until I realized there was another option."

"You served with the navy even after your home was lost?" you ask.

"I was never offered any other choice," Ralitar replies.

"Who recruited you to serve the Rebellion?"

"Lieutenant Alouin did," Ralitar laughs. "He knew people in the alliance who would help us put an end to this war. Something your precious Emperor can't seem to do."

It was alarming to you that a conscript could remain so unnoticed in the military. If Ralitar's story is to be believed, he's served in the empire for years, even after the Outer Rim was lost, and by accident ended up in the Deep Core, where his experience likely had him tapped as an officer candidate.

It seemed possible, but farfetched. He could very well also be a Rebel sleeper agent who found himself pushed up the ranks coincidentally. There were many possibilities. All of them smelled of a coming Inquisition in the higher Imperial ranks to you.

"It's irrelevant. Your fleet has been defeated, smashed to pieces. Nothing you say, none of your 'philosophy' can change that. We will restore rightness to this galaxy. Nothing can stop us now that our Emperor has returned."

Ralitar shrugs, "If you say so."

>Sergeant, let your men have a go at this thing. Maybe they can get more information out of him, and earn some promotions on the way
>We're done here. Save Mister Ralitar for the interrogators at Lusankya, perhaps they'll have more luck with him
>I have some more questions . . .
>Sergeant, I think Mr. Ralitar's presence in the brig is a clerical error, please correct this via the airlock.

Are Isard's sleeper agents a thing in this game canon?
>>
"We're finished here," you say. You're not sure if that's more for Ralitar's benefit or the sergeant of the guard. "Save Mister Ralitar for the interrogators at Lusankya, perhaps they'll have more luck with him."

You turn to leave.

"Commander Tyrna!" Ralitar calls. "Don't forget what I've told you. The war's over for me. But maybe you'll have a chance to change things still."

"Why in the Emperor's name would I want to do that?" you ask before leaving, the durasteel door slamming closed behind you.

That does it for the battle of Trellen. I had anticipated you guys fighting to the bitter end and it taking longer, but I see you've had a collective change of heart.

There's a few quick orders of business to handle however before we wrap.

1: For the Battle of Kuat, I had planned to abstract-ify it. Assign some values, roll the outcome and start the next session with its outcome. But if you really want, we can fight out the battle as Palpatine, just will likely take some time and a bit of planning on my part.

>Yes please, I love fighting battles and making TK roll dice!
>That's okay, we can come back with the results, I trust you not to fuck us over. I prefer to handle "big picture" issues and palpy

2: I have already written out a sort of "intro" to the next session. We have a bit of time, and if you want, we can run that real quick.

>Dewit! Let's play what you've got!
>I'd prefer to save it for next session!

3:Really just an announcement. I've managed to finagle next game time to TUESDAY at 7 EST (11UTC) and THURSDAY 7EST (11 UTC) since I won't be able to play that weakened. Mark in on your calendars.

Not that Alana would necessarily be aware of it, but I don't see why not.

I just want to have Tarkin's Fist eat some rebels.

We can have battles with Palpy when needed, but I'm not sure it's totally necessary, especially since our battle just ended.

Too many battle scenes could get laborious, but this is a huge one that Big P himself is leading. Let's fight it out

Take your time to plan, no rush

So . . . both votes are perfectly tied up lol.

Not . . . really sure what to do with that info . . .

For the first issue. But not sure about the second.

To elaborate. I would basically be distilling the battle into a series of dice rolls instead of fighting out each and every specific ship action and writing the results in detail. End result should still be more or less the same. Minus player "flair" and things like that.

>>1462189

In that case I'm hearing:

"Go ahead and abstract the battle! We trust you!"

And "LETS DO THE FIRST PART OF THE NEXT SESSION"

You are Darth Cythera, apprentice to Emperor Palpatine, and a Sith Lord. Although . . . You didn't feel comfortable in that title just yet. For as long as there was one who called themselves a Jedi Master, you couldn't claim the title of Sith Lord in earnest. It fell to you to ensure no potential threats to Sith Hegemony existed.

Distantly, great battles were being waged. You knew it and felt it in the force, the screams and death throes of men and women plunged into fire and void. But it was all so far away to you. Your personal ship, the Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer Blood Oath was in high orbit over one of the uninhabited worlds of the Coruscant system, a broiling orange gas giant. Utterly insignificant in a galaxy full of such things, but it was isolated and perfect for your meditations.

It was only days after you had consulted with some of Palpatine's other dark side adepts, members of his Shadow Mages, beings completely engrossed in the nature of the Dark Side, attuned to the force and seeking disruptions.

The Mages had been useless. Babbling about a great stillness in the Force on the edge of the galaxy. They had been totally self-absorbed. Dressed to play the part, thick , dark robes, festooned with strange talismans and amulets, eyes hazy, almost milky.

I foresee a confrontation in ruins amidst snow and ice. One between you and Master Skywalker. one of them had said, Skywalker will be waiting for you and he will try to turn you.

He won't succeed,You replied testily.

The Mage had smiled, He will if your forget your anger. The Archmage felt it pertinent for me to remind you that Skywalker is the one who slayed your Master. When the Mage smiled, you saw his teeth were yellowed with age though he himself was a young man. And you failed to kill him when you were last ordered to.

You'd had enough of useless prophecy and goading from the Archmage, a bitter old woman who coveted your own position. The Mages had left shortly after they'd arrived, leaving you no closer to finding and killing Skywalker.

But now, the opening you sought may have arrived.

(1/2)
>>
"My lord," one of your lieutenants said quietly, drawing you from your meditation in the small throne room aboard Blood Oath "The bounty hunters have arrived."

Ah yes, the Bounty Hunters. Blood Oath had been host to scores of them in the recent past as they variously claimed some special knowledge of Skywalker and his Academy. Among all them, this was the first group that claimed knowledge of the exact location of Luke's hidden academy. You'd watched their tramp ship approach yours, felt their apprehension in the force. Now they were led before you. A trio of Ganks, a Barabel and a disreputable looking human, presumably the leader.

You stood before them, surveying each in turn. At the leaders gesture, the group gave you a series of poorly executed bows.

"My Lord," the man began, "Thank you for seeing us. I think the information-"

"Out with it," you reply, "You either know, or you don't."

A flash of irritation at your disrespect crosses the human's face, but he fights It back. "The man called Skywalker and the other Jedi are in the Tobali system. A world called Rhen Var."

"Rhen Var," you repeat. The name was foreign to you, which helped make it the perfect base. "You're sure?"

The bounty hunter chuckled, "Me and my boys just made a supply run for them, I'm pretty damn positive. I'd swear on the Emperor's Bones." After the words were out of his mouth he realized what he'd said and shifted uneasily.

"You went there yourself?" You asked.

The man nodded impatiently.

If that were the case, Skywalker and his other Jedi may very well have sensed their intentions and could have foreknowledge of your coming visit.

>You may have cost me my quarry, which will cost you your lives (Kill them)
>You've done well to find them. Lieutenant, pay these men.
>Because of your carelessness, Skywalker likely knows we're coming. How do you plan to make this up to me?

If we want to get the GOOD bounty hunters, we need to build a reputation as fair employers. We won't get anywhere by killing everyone who MAY have made a mistake.

Think of it this way, if they're right; they get extra for helping us take Skywalker and his Jedi down in the coming battle. If not? No pay at best.
>>
"Lieutenant. Pay the men," You reply, already turning back to your view port looking over the turbulent surface of the gas giant. "Rhen Var," you say again. "Now nothing can keep you safe from me."

As your lieutenant paid off the hunters, you had turned your mind to your future plans to get to Skywalker. You would need to first, of course, get to Rhen Var, which was well within Rebel territory, or at least, far outside of the Dark Empire.

Getting there would be a challenge.

>We will have to rely on Blood Oath's firepower to carve a path to the Jedi if necessary. It would also prove handy once we get there
>Blood Oath might prove too conspicuous. Perhaps something less visible (Sith Cruiser)
>The best way to get to Skywalker would be to go totally incognito (Travel aboard a civilian vessel)

All in good time, my man.

Blood Oath is too much for this task, as much as you'd love to pound the surface of Rhen Var to slag with its turbolasers. No, perhaps something smaller, faster, less conspicuous would do. You would have to speak with your master about acquiring that.

And it looks like it's getting late for me, and we're starting to lose players. I'll wrap the session here, and we can continue on Tuesday with the results of Kuat and Cythera's plans to hunt down Skywalker.

Darth Maul's Scimitar Infiltrator when?
>>

Well . . . . technically now since that thing is in storage somewhere. Mass production would be an issue though because of the lack of cloaking crystals and shit.
>>
>>1465928
planets we need to take
Illium for saber crystals and cloaking cyrstals
the maw for the left over super weapons
korriban for dark side stuff
any others with imporant strategic things we should grab later one

I meant having the thing gifted to Mara Jade or her using it. Perhaps as a reward for a job well done or another, extremely dangerous mission?

Well, it's around. It's possible to provide it to her, depends, of course, on how you want to use Cythera.

Sullust, Carida, Aeten 2, Taris and Bestin.
>>
>>1468353
Bestin..... I guess? isnt it still imperial?
Taris.... why? rak'ghoul plauge is uncontrolable and is a bad plan
Aeten II..... I think that got blown up after hoth.
Cardia.... important but also I think still imperial
Sullust.....yeah important but hard to keep
any others?
maybe wayland if we keep that cannon
Centerpoint again if kept cannon
Telti is a massive droid factory
Thyferra is were bacta comes from
Yavin 4 has ancient sith stuff
Nkllon is a useful mineral planet
Mustafar same thing
Khomm is a planet wide cloning facility that we could repurpose for our own ends
Same thing with kamino
>>
>>1468457
>Bestine
There are still a lot of Warlords down that way, may be under their control.
>Cardia
Sort of under siege by New Republic. Cut off at least
>wayland if we keep that cannon
Wayland and your secret storehouse is canon.

>Centerpoint again if kept cannon
The facility is canon, using it as depected in the EU is not cause that falls under "Game breathtakingly overpowered. The ability to rearrange star systems through hyperspace? A bit too much.

>Khomm
I have to do some research, but if I recall, the Empire only let them keep their cloning shit because it was wholy unsuitable for military cloning. Long grow times, etc.
>Kamino
Didn't the empire dismantle the cloning facilities there when the Kaminoans became unreliable?

Take above with a grain of salt. I'm sort of developing this universe as I go so I don't get totally overwhelmed.

So this thread stops bumping in under two hours and I am highly autistic, so I'm probably gonna make a new thread unless everyone thinks that's a terrible idea.
>>
>>1468585
no, they just built new faciltys no corusant and other planets and stoped useing only the fett genotype for clones and also starting using plan humans. They are not nearly as good as the old clones and it shows. The facilitys are still there, its just no one can afford to run them anymore because of hte scattered state of the empire so they are mostly unused/
I think khomm was left alone because they are lazy shits who dont do anything diffrent ever
