>Old threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?searchall=bastard%27s+boars

Your troops arrive at Smuggler’s Crags and quickly find the Black Suns encampment.

[Barrand]
BOARS! Aha! You came! Just in time! I saw it in y’all, your thirst for glory!

Okay, the deed is simple enough. There’s this supply camp inside a small forest next to the castle. I need them off my back when we’ll attack the whoresons sieging the castle and that’s where you come in.

You go in, murder every last sod there and loot the place. Keep everything, burn it all, I don’t care. Remember though, Léonard the Badger is in charge over there. He owns a frightening mace and I want it. I’ll pay good silver! Aha!

After you’re done you can join the battle too. Head for the south wall, I’ll have a bunch of guys there. I can’t give you silver for this, but there’ll be so much to loot it’ll be worth your while believe me.

Alright! BLACK SUNS WE’RE HEADING OUT!

[Caitlyn]
W-what? Already? No time to rest?

Ugh…

Okay Bastard’s Boars, remember our objectives:

Main Task: Kill every mercenaries you can at the auxiliary supply camp.

Optional Task: Bring back Léonard's mace to Barrand.

Optional Task: Join in the main assault.

>This is a fairly simple skirmish. Attacks are resolved with 1d6. 1-2-3 are misses and 4-5-6 are successes. +Hit weapons increase your success chance by one (i.e. 3 is now considered a success) You can only attack enemies adjacent to your tile (not diagonally) unless your weapon has that ability. Movement is cardinal only.

>Please reply to this post with your character sheet (Name, Class, Skills, Weapon, Items) so that I can prepare your character in the .PSD.
>Post with your name ( Name #Trip in the name field ) and paste your character sheet at the bottom of your post when in combat.

>First choose your class and then pick the appropriate number of skills. You will also need a weapon and some items.

>Men-at-arms is the only class considered armoured. Armour is reduce the damage the unit suffers. It is represented with a dot next to the Health value. One dot means one Armour, two means two, etc.

>There’s three sort of skills: Combat, Passive and Prompt. Combat skill are activated when you roll a 6, Passive skills are always active and Prompt skills are activated when you call them (write it at the top of your post during your action).

Well, previously I said the same range as a crossbow. But I guess the bow range would be more useful, considering the item is gone after the throw. So like a bow.

I'm populating the map with enemies now, if there's more Boars wanting to deploy it's your last chance!

We fought together last time and it went great.

I left the Vatican because that bitch, the girl-pope, banned brothels in the city. So now I'm saving up to buy my own.

Ah, a right shame that. Indeed, you fought bloody well in the last skirmish Father.

I pray to the blessed Saint Darerca that I may live to practice my craft as this day ends.

>>1455818
Last time sure went great.
But those were just thugs, after all

Well, the pleasure is mine, companions. My name is Jeanpierre Brunebert, marksman and soldier of fortune.
The reason why i am here is... Quite hectic. Let's say i needed a quick way out of the hole i had dug myself in, or else i would have spent my days in a cold cell with no more wine on my lips and gold in my hands. As a mercenary, however, i can have both!
The fact that i am quite far from where the mess happened is also an added bonus.

>>1455811
There seems to be a considerable lack of melee fighters... I wonder, is it possible to learn how to weild a zweihander during a siege?
>>

Lack of melee fighters? They make up half our numbers, my good man. We shall have no problem.

>>1455878
Sorry to hear, lad. Well, at least this here's your chance for glory and riches.

Okay, the Bow/Crossbow range nerf was a bit too brutal. How about a +2 range buff for each?

It felt right in rooms when I playtested it but out in the open it kinda it's kinda ridiculous that ranged weapons are so limited.

Aight, look.

I ain’t a stupid man, nor a reckless one. Clearly y’all bested me and my mercs.

What do you say we settle this like the hired swords scum we are? I’ll give you one and a half times what your patron pays you plus twenty silver coins. We pack up and leave, you let us do so, and hopefully we’ll never see each other again.

Do we have a deal?

: Combat Log :

Father Giacomo prayed for the first time in years, but God did not heard his plea. The bolt missed Léonard, who now looks directly at the priest. ‘’You’re next.’’

Kuelph moved north and shot at the Badger, but missed.

Brunebert fired his crossbow, but missed.

Helder ran toward Simon and hit him with his messer! I adjusted his position a bit for him to be able to strike the spearman.

Maybe we should finish this tomorrow? More than half the players are afk and I'm getting tired. So, same hour tomorrow? (14:00 (UTC-05:00))

Jeanpierre, all I ask is that you live on. After I stuck my neck out to get you those healing herbs, I think I deserve at least that much.

Oh, and loot my body. I ought to have four silver pieces, some fresh healing herbs, bandages, rope, and a shovel.

Bastard's Boars, huh? My name is Cordelia, I'm... a sword-for-hire too. I was-

Wait, you're with the Black Suns? Oh God, that's why you killed everyone here. I though that you were here to rescue me! She steps back again, still holding her sword. I'll be blunt, Bastard's Boars: we're enemies here. The army besieging the castle hired me. I was posted here with the Badgers but Léonard demonstrated his lack of honour by beating me up and tried to force his way with me. But we're not like him and his ilk! We're good, just people! The Baron inside the castle kidnapped someone dear to us, and we aim to get her back.

Look, it may sound like a ruse but listen to me: I want to hire you to switch sides. I saw you fight. I saw how you took down Léonard, you're fantastic warriors! Help us take the castle! You will be paid awesomely, in both silver and renown.
>>

Right, allright, I have the bits and the bops and the belts and the bombs. I got stuck trying to get the quartermaster to issue me a shovel! Would you believe the man insists shovels aren't a thing? I was here just last week and I was sure we had shovels.

"You aughta remember that while we're enemies in the overall battle, we're on the same side in terms of the fight to kill that badger prick, so until we meet on the wrong sides of a battle there's no need to be antagonistic. After all, I did set him on fire for ya. I even thought your 'Yes, finally!' coming from the tent was over that, keke.

Anyway, you'll have to let us more about your side'a the story. The job description from here comes mostly to 'join in and loot shit,' but we'd rather not switch sides without a good enough cause regardless, and anyways we'd best get our Captain to give consent (heh) first."
>>
>>1459481

You fetch your Captain, Caitlyn. and explain the situation

[Caitlyn]
Uh... I don't know? On one hand I'd rather not work for the guys who killed Eiron and Pettifer. On the other I never was too keen on working for Barrand either. By the way, Barrand promised a lot of loot in this camp. Was he right?

But, technically our contract is over is it not? We killed Léonard and his mercenaries! Yes, Barrand asked to join in the main assault after that, but It never was mandatory. And honestly, I don't know if our reputation would take a hit. It's kind of a gray area, really. It's certainly not unheard of to switch side once a contract is done. Ours is ''mostly'' done.

I think we should vote on this. Either we keep the mace and take the castle with Cordelia's side or we tie her up and meet with the Black Suns to break the siege.

What should we do, Boars?
>>
>>1459585

"I for one am entirely okay with giving Barrand that mace wrong end first."
>>
>>1459585
We didnt get to looting yet. But I think we should help take the castle, it must be full of loot.
>>
>>1459585
Honestly, i vote for staying with the Black Suns. Mercenary's honor and all that.
Plus, i still need to dig Eiron's grave... These bastards killed him.
>>
Ah! This is a conundrum, yes? But the solution is simple.

We have taken the camp and... if Priest there grabs a bit of cloth, we have also looted the camp! Then our contract is as one says principalement poisson, for Caitlyn is correct. Then we are free to take new, excitable contract for this very handsome if bloody lady.

And our honor is assured! Expanded, even! The Bastard's Boars are so good, we fulfill multiple jobs in a day.

Father Giacomo looted the cold corpse of the Badger and found a curious ring!

Konrad Katze goes through the prisonner's pockets and find a small gem worth twenty (20) silvers!

Keyeden goes through the various crates of the camp and find two (2) Fire Grenades, one Smoke Grenade and enough rations for one person.

Of course, you are now in possession of Minutie, Léonard's unique mace.

The camp is now looted!

Fantastic! Now listen. I know Castle Galentais pretty well. The Baron's main quarters are situated next to the east wall.

My f- There's already soldiers tasked to climb the wall and get the Baron's head, who will most certainly be in his bedroom with his personal guard. I say we meet with them and help them out with their task.

If we get the Baron there's no way the Black Suns will continue fighting.

She right. The Black Suns are renowned to give up their contracts once the patron is dead or captured.

Maleth, drunk out of his mind, attacked his comrade Adriano! Thank God he missed.

Adriano pierced Garrand’s armor! His Estoc had no trouble puncturing the metal plate!

Katze daringly threw the Black Sun mercenary off the wall!

Doctor Emeritus munched on some Potent Healing Herbs!

Lady Gwendolyn! I'm quite alright, dear cousin. I was saved by this brave man here and his mercenary company. They executed flawlessly this rescue mission, hired by a woman named Cordelia.

Where is she, by the way?

You look around, she's nowhere to be found

Nevertheless, words can't express my gratitude. I'll be sure to tell everyone of your selfless deed back at the cloister.

The white lines for swung weapons and lost health indicators make it easy to tell what's going on. I also like how you name your fodder NPC's, it helps with targeting and it's something that I think I'll steal.

It was a bit hard to tell what tile I was on sometimes and my shield disappeared about halfway through the castle fight but no serious complaints from me.

Back at the Bastard's Boars hall...

What horseshit!

We lost two good men, Pettifer and Eiron! We fought our hardest battle yet! And what do we get for it?

2 measly silver piece per men we sent. Horsehit! We saved his daughter! The Marquis should have paid us way more. I'm so mad! Bastards, we'll never work again for this cheap, fat noble. Alright, so if you took part in the battle you get 2 silver piece- here. She start distributing the coins.

At least we had the chance to get some good loot, right?

Watesby moved north!

Rollant moved and looted the corpse. He found Potent Healing Herbs!

Stenson took five (5) silver coins from the table.

Father Giacomo shot Father Jacob! Fratricide?

Rabbitspaw threw his Oil Jug above the table! Father Jacob is badly burnt!

Katze searched the corpse and found Bandages!

Kayeden moved North-East!

Kuelph charged through the flames to deliver the killing blow! Father Jacob is dead! Suivons où mène la fortune!

[Servius]
A-already? Damn. You lot really are professionals.

Are you okay, Lucretia?

[Lucretia]
Yes, I am fine. But please, don't ever waste coin or blood again to rescue me.

[Servius]
Thank you, Boars. Here's the remaining twenty silver pieces.

I will come back next week, once Lucretia in a safe place. Then we'll talk about that alchemical weapon. So long, friends.

[Lucretia]
Thank you, kind mercenaries! Take care!

When they leave the hall you can hear the construct tell how two men were fighting over her.

Servius is right, you guys were fast on this one. And everyone came back! I say we should drink to that.

>>
>>1480123
Bad luck to burn a priest?

Well, I'm a doctor, not a holy man. Even so, I'd call setting a priest on fire fine and dandy As long as you're trying to kill 'em, of course.
>>
"Would anyone like to pray with me for our fallen enemies?" He asks, bowing his head and holding his hands out towards everyone.
>>
>>1480142
S'is why I asked. Bad luck is a terminal condition in this line of work, so a doctor would know best.
>>
>>1480151
I'll join in, I'd rather play it safe and at least sort of make up for all the church soldiers we just killed.
>>
>>1480151
I don't need to pray anymore, after you purchase the bones of 13 different Saints, the goodwill just accumulates on it's own. Kinda like owning a house.
>>
>>1480174
Are there even 13 saints? My village is too small to have a church, we just get a priest come by every once in awhile to preach and sell indulgences.
>>
>>1480174
"Very well, Salvator. To each their own, my friend."

>>1480157
Cissius holds Samuel's hand firmly and closes his eyes to begin prayer.

"O Lord, please forgive us for those who have fallen to our blade. We commit to your loving care those who have passed, beseeching you to receive their souls into the mercy of your love. Comfort their loved ones who mourn. Enable them to meet the lonely and painful days ahead in the strength of your love. Amen."
>>
>>1480186
Amen, now let's get to the drinking, huh?
>>
>>1480174
>>1480178
There are at least 5000 saints my friends, that doesn't lower the value of your bones though.
>>
>>1480141
"Well I don't like to take all the credit - I counted at least two others sticking that bastard with me. Heh, I hope you're feeling generous."

Alright! She puts on her spectacles and begins to write on a piece of parchment. 40 silvers minus 10 percent... 36, divided by eleven... 3,2...

So your share is 3 silver pieces each! Here it is. I'll put the extra 2 pieces in the safe. She distributes the coins to everyone who participated in the fight.

>>
>>1480276
Bah, shouldn't you be leading by example?

>>1480207
I jest, my friend! Come, let's get a round in before these codgers drink the place dry.

>>1480303
Assuming it's one upgrade per point, I vote for one upgrade for each class, the the last one on Battle Wagon.
>>
>>1480303
Scouts would survive another blow with a sword, that's it. They still die in two to a crossbow or mace or zweihander.

Men-at-Arms would take three hits to kill with a mace or crossbow if their health is upgraded.

Battle wagon sounds good.

> MAA +2
> Engineer +2
>>
>>1480276
Of course you'd say that, father.

>>1480272
Samuel is a very slim man, which has forced him to hastily adjust his uniform to fit properly. He has brown hair and no beard, exposing the large scar that near death mace experience gave him.
>>
>>1480309
I agree with this. Then I think the last point should go to either MAA or Engi, I think things that can increase survivability should be grabbed first. The extra gear on scouts could prove useful, but overall we can't guarantee that people will bring things to keep them alive, and would probably rather grab looting/damage dealing equipment.
>>
>>1480319
It might be my close death talking here, but I'd rather not die on a 1 in 6 chance from anyone with a longsword. We should get the battlewagon, and then put one in MAA and Scout, to slightly offset both of their weaknesses.
>>
>>1480303
1 point each class, last goes to Bastard Wagons

Next time we get to upgrade I vote Men-at-Arms because I'm biased.
>>
>>1480272
"Excuse me, Elle, but would you happen to have any more quatreberries?"
>>
>>1480303
I suggest we pick 1-2-1 so everybody gets the extra health.
>>
>>1480272
Alrighty, I want to at least hand Elle my bottle of Aquinarrian White Wine.

>Doc has a pointy white beard, a red and white cap, and herbs on his bandolier.

>>1480303
Ah, so we level up the classes, like Valkyria Chronicles!

I vote to put a point into Scouts, a point into Men-at-Arms, and two points into Engineers!
>>
>>1480334
The health is more important than the wagon.

1-2-1
>>
>>1480347
Actually, do we even sit still enough to use the wagon? I support this.
>>
>>1480347
>>1480352
I'm far too curious about the other advantages the Bastard Wagon might have. More room for looting? Flammable? Cable TV? I must know.
>>
>>1480352
Presumably, it moves but I wouldn't trust it to ward off a crossbow bolt either way.
>>
>>1480356
>>1480360
This is a really hard choice, but do we all agree on 1 for each class like Salvator and Katze suggested?
>>
>>1480367
I think a majority of us do agree on 1 for each class. As for the other options we have:

Wagon
>Katze
>Rollant
>Salvator
>Doc

MAA Health
>Priest
>Stenson
>Watesby

Apologies if I missed any votes
>>
>>1480376
I think I'll change to battlewagon, the possiblities are too appealing. MAAs are pretty tanky as is.
>>
>>1480382
two shots from a crossbow isn't any more tanky than the rest of you. Don't expect me to activate Iacesso around crossbows without the extra health, alright?
>>
>>1480389
I'm going to feel guilty regardless of what we get. If an MAA dies, I'm going to regret not voting for health, and if anyone dies I'm gonna regret not getting the battlewagon because it might have saved them.
>>
Speaking as a person who died previously, it really doesn't matter.
>>
>>1480382

I do recall it being mentioned that engineers could get something like a tank from the previous thread. Perhaps the wagon is an armored transport that will let us get closer in battle whilst being safe from ranged attacks?

Unfortunately we don't know what it is that the wagon will do at this point. But I'm sure like the other non-stat boost abilities it will be worthwhile to grab.

I have 15 silver now. If I could purchase some munitions-grade armour with any of that, I would.
>>
>>1481771
Munitions grade? What the hell kind of armor is that?

By the way, since I have that shield now, I'll be able to act as a combat medic for you guys much more effectively now. Though I won't be able to hold as much medicine as before due to the inventory space it takes up. It'd help if I could carry one extra gear, but that's at the of Engineers tree, so it's between 9 and 11 points away depending on how we allocate.

You don't want them taking out the wheels.

A

We don't want it to be too bulky to the point of not being able to get across bridges and through tunnels.

B.

My heart's telling me A, but my mind's telling me B.

That's not something you can buy, but definitely something you can find. Or get through a optional objective/sidequest with and NPC (like Doc and Elle did).

She keeps souvenirs.

New customized units. Also added Rollant's beard I forgot.

Is it possible to join in progress?

Nice, let's see how long I can survive.

Definitely B on this one.
>>

B, it makes for a better battering ram

Also it's late and pointless now, but one exp to everyone and then battle wagons were my thoughts exactly.

Kayden's a handsome lad with that flowing hair. Nice.

The face of 'fuck, I haven't been deployed again'.
