....wait, she does kind have a point there. My deep pout slowly turns into a smirk and then a small grin as I think about it. I mean, everyone around me has been wanting to use me like a security blanket ever since she cursed me, sure they all got a little crazy. Especially poor Yvvy...don't even want to think about what my sis would be like.But she did kind of prove my point that dragons can be for cuddles.

I start to laugh, craning my head back and nearly falling over as I giggle "Yeah you have a point there, I guess"

Eh, it's the 6th roll anyways, we landed a punch, away from our homes.

A tree breaks and snaps on my back, splinters leaves, and bird feathers falling all around me.

I blinking, feeling dazed and hurting more than I thought that would. Wait...am I crying!?

For a second, I panic and feel scared for some reason, but then I start thinking again, right as I see the fire's light glinting off my scales. I've slept in fire before, it actually can't hurt me I'm pretty sure, so why am I freaking out. I snarl, and grab the small tree I just hit by its largest branch, and using all the strength I have in my little body, turn around and toss it at the massive wall of fire as it washes over me in a wave.

I close my eyes, since its so bright and they start to burn and dry up. There's a loud snap and a yelp, as I think I just hit faith with the tree.I open my eyes, seeing all the dried up grass around me burning and smoking, to see her standing there rubbing her head.

"Okay, wasn't expecting that" she says, sounding a bit pained, as I notice how much my arms are aching now and...wait can this stupid jumper burn

"Its fire proof" I say happily as Faith snorts

Well, turns out being small does help her with something, as she comes running at me as fast as I've seen Rowen run sometimes, her braided hair bouncing as she kicks off the ground to leap at me, swinging her hands down at me as she tries to tackle me. I yelp in pain as I feel a claw or two of her's catch on my scales....and find out she was holding dirt in her hands. But I can still fight even though I can't see anything.

I feel her one of her hands on one of my two big horns and a second on one of the ones making up my "Crown" sort of thing. On instinct I kick my knee up, and hear her retching. Opening my eyes, I see the blurry blob that's faith, and reach for her horns, pulling her head down as she reels from the kick I just gave her, that actually hurt my knee a bit.

And without giving her a chance to react, I kick her in the jaw, not giving her the chance to bite into my foot.

She snarls, blood dripping as she sticks her tongue out...I think she bit into it. She looks up at me, looking pretty fucking mad...I think...Its hard to make her out actually

I can feel heat on my face, as she starts to get ready to breath more fire on my face, which won't do my eyes any good, and without really thinking I slam her head into the ground as hard as I can, stunning her and giving me a moment to gather my thoughts and actually plan what to do next. She starts to push me away, and nearly makes me lose my grip on her horns with how much she's struggling and thrashing around trying to get free to beat the shit out of me.

So I just toss away, turning my body around to try and actually lift her off the ground in this little girl's body. I manage to get her off the ground enough to throw her, but....well I end up tripping on something

Old Habits Die Hard, pt.2


The walk/battle back to Jess and Daniells shared territory went far smoother than expected, though it was filled with the usual issues of navigating Hotel Draconia (Made that name up on the spot, feel free to ignore it). Namely disputes or minor fights over land and changes to safe routes that had occurred earlier that day.

But, aside from dodging a few shouting matches, running through a roaring fire along the path (further ruining Daniells already fucked up attire) and settling an argument over who owned some tiny hallway on the edge of their floor (in that Jess smacked the other girl upside the head with Daniells dead wait and told her to fuck off). But finally, after many trials and tribulations, the dragon and her drunk rich lightweight of a girlfriend made it home.


Aside from Daniells expected grandeur and opulence, only enhanced by her dragons greed, Jess kept liked to keep some of their shared home in a more “normal” state. So, for every gilt chandelier, crystal goblet, and golden toilet (Jess could never decide whether to laugh or cry when she remembered the damn thing) there was a reading lamp, ceramic mug, and regular toilet (which Daniell refuse to use out of “principle” or some shit), most of which Jess had brought with her from home. But the only thing the white drake cared about right then was their massive bed, where she could drop off her massive broken weight and hopefully get some reading done.


“First things first though”, Jess thought with a grin. As soon as she stripped Daniell and laid her down among the satin sheets, she got out her phone to record what happened next. As soon as Daniell got got comfortable in her stupor, the changes occurred as they always did. First, her draconic traits faded and shrunk, leaving her looking almost like a regular girl for a moment, before the other part of her curse took effect. The miniscule remains of her tail turned pink and curled in on itself, short, floppy ears replaced her horns, and her nose turned up just a tad. All the while Jess took her pictures, like she did every night Daniell drank mead. Chuckling to herself, and remembering why she never drank mead, Jess crawled into bed next to her little piggy, hoping to put the latest of many sets of photos up on her wall the next day.

True enough. All I can say for certain is that I would try to keep most of it off the thread, but even then I'd be pissed. But this was also a perfect storm of a lot of things/character tropes I hate to a stupid and ridiculous degree, so I should be only as pissed as everyone else next time something shitty happens to us. But I've been a shit for the last few threads and there's no excuse for that. All I can do now is apologize and move on.

It's fine, I've been a crazy asshole these past few weeks, I deserve it. I just had no where else to vent about this shit or talk about it with people who understood/cared about whats going on, you know? I just step out of the way as I watch her fall into a messy pile on the burning forest floor, that she's been setting on fire. The branches slams into the ground, and sticks straight up burning like a tiki torch as I grin widely and cockily as faith whimpers and cries as she tries to cover up the big red spot on the middle of her forehead. I start to swagger towards her, my tail following the rythme of my steps as I finally rip my claws through those damn cloves on this now basically ruined jumper. But as I get close to her, I realize that I actually made her bleed, seeing the blood dripping from her fingers and the small cut on her head. I stop, and watch her for a second or two....Ouch that couldn't have felt good, and well...that cut doesn't look too deep but it may leave a mark. And honestly that must've been one hell of a surprise. Thank god us dragongirls have thick skulls, or I might've need to rush her off to the hospital. She probably going to have a concussion from that....especially now that I can see that the rock fucking exploded on her face.

Kind of feel bad for her, since I didn't mean to hurt her that badly. But then again she's also a fucking dragon, so she'll be fine once the shock wears off....

But..I scratch face, feeling the dried blood on it from where she scratched me. Would I kick someone while they're down. I mean I used to, all the time. I had to just to have a chance to win any fight I got into. But...now?

So, been following along with MGLQ but I am just now catching a live thread wanted to ask a question: do we have any idea how old Faith actually is?

Was May seriously going to beat the snot out of a little shit who, legally, doesn't even know any better?

And a thought occurred to me: wouldn't the most poetic revenge we could have taken against Faith have been to have just rolled with the whole being fawned over thing and enjoyed it? As it stands, all we did was prove her point.

Imagine if May had just been like "Yay! Attention!" Instead of, well, basically CUA's reaction. Would have completely made Faith feel dumb and defeated, in theory.

"Well do you still want to fight? Because if you do I'll just go get some bandages and fix you so you don't bleed on me or make this place look like a murder scene" I say frowning as she licks the blood off of her lips, wincing as her tongue touches it.

She clicks her tongue, wincing again as she tries to look cool by wrapping her wings around herself like some kind of cape.

CUA, I asked you, specifically, once before "How much is too much?" and that kind of applies here. How far can we take it before the blowback completely overshadows the schadenfreude?

We have a pretty clear indicator that if we take this too far, consequences we really don't want to deal with could result.

I mean, HM is a pretty nice guy so its not likely, but when we are getting what could be interpreted as subtle warnings like this, it might behoove us to stop and think.

INTENTIONALLY killing her was never on the table, yes. My whole point is, that recklessly pursuing vengeance can have unforeseen consequences. Remember, she isn't cartoon-levels of indestructible: we just had a scene with the tonal shift that proves that.

Beatings can turn fatal. Also, if what you really want is for her to learn never to cross us again, I am convinced we could come up with something better than "beat her until it isn't fun anymore."

In a test of pure power, she might be ahead of us anyway--we don't know. That curse seemed pretty potent. Again, if you want to teach her a real lesson, I'd council a more planned approach.

I'm going to give a bit long CUA-like explanation for why I think beating her is a good idea.

What we did was wrong, what she did was delicious revenge, but experience should still win at the end of the day.

Quick question: is that a thing? Has it been verified anywhere that one of the ways to lift this curse is, specifically, to pay her a beating? Not just make her say "I lose" or something?

Just want to be certain that the condition was beating related.

Maybe in a sanctioned boxing match or similar, but not in everyday life. You kill (or maim) someone in a fight, even if they literally asked for it, you pay the price--provided that your actions were not still in the realm of self-defense. If we do end up going the route that she lifts it for us (the 'third' way) we could still explain to her that if we apologize before the curse is lifted, it wouldn't be a real apology.

We could basically explain to her what we just explained to each other, that it isn't an apology if it's coerced.

She said she's 'not good at it' that doesn't necessarily mean anything bad will happen if she fails.

It might be that she could try all night for all it matters.

Still, not sure if her lifting it might still feel like a 'win' to her. Probably not if we don't apologize before she lifts it.

But it still sort of cheapens the apology afterwards.

If we get out of this on our own power then at least our apology is definitely strong, she'll know we mean it because then we truly didn't have to give it, or explain it, or etc.

It would have more impact, I think.

All going after her like this does is prove that we acknowledged her curse as a legitimate sleight which we are responding to in the time honored dragon tradition of getting medieval on her ass. There's nothing wrong with that, but don't go assuming that it will teach her humility or make us appear above her.

If you get mauled by a bear, is that likely to teach you humility? Are you likely to stop seeing yourself as a higher life form than a bear? Probably not. It might make you more careful around bears, but that's about it.

I frown and glare at her as she hangs her head with an weak smile

"Oh right....forgot, you're like me, can't take insults very well or being embarrassed" She says quietly, trying not to raise her voice so anyone around can hear what she's saying besides me

"So what....something bad could happen if you tried to lift it yourself?" I ask as she hangs her head and in a low voice says

"Yeah, it'd get worse, there's a reason I've been making my curses easier to break lately, I am not good at lifting them, and bad things happen when I mess it up, the curse would get worse and all that means for you is you'd just....lose your maturity at the absolute worst, in fact what is most likely to happen is well...the effect on others would get stronger but there are...a whole lot worse things that could happen if a curse gets stronger by itself because I messed up the removal l...like" She pauses and looks like she's about to start crying "Look, honesty, its better just to bite your tongue and say sorry, in all seriousness. If I messed up the removal, I don't think anything too bad would happen, but its best to be careful with these things, especially with stronger or more complicated curses"

"Tch, can't I get a witch or something to remove it? Besides I still kind of want to fight" I sigh, leaning back as she looks confused

That's actually belittling her intelligence though. That's assuming Faith is so arrogant that she views us as nothing more than a dangerous animal. We have to give her more credit than that.

Bears might not be able to teach lessons, but people can. And likewise, a scared animal might not be able to learn such a lesson, but another person can grasp this kind of situation.

What is it we want faith to learn here, really? That if she messes with May, she can expect a beating?

Considering she could just curse May to be unable to throw a punch somehow, that doesn't seem like the most compelling lesson.

I think the INTENDED message is, or ought to be, that messing with May is not worth it. To really get that across, something more than a beating might reasonably be required.

Originally, I was just replying to CUA with the intention of getting across that just beating her up (unless you kill her, I guess) really has no guarantee of being the end of it. Especially if all you are holding over her is the potential of future beatings.

Well, I was thinking that it would be a good win in a lot of ways.

Getting revenge is just as bad of a sin as mocking someone, so her getting us to apologize through her curse is her winning her revenge.

Which doesn't help either of us. It robs us of our dignity, she learns that 'revenge works' and she doesn't learn to curb her impulsiveness.

She could react impulsively and get revenge on someone who isn't as good as we are, and get herself killed for example.

If we apologised after we'd lifted the curse under our own power, she'd learn that her cursing us was useless, didn't have any merit at all. So maybe cursing people is not the answer, or petty revenge isn't the way to solve things, etc.

And then by apologizing /after/ we lifted the curse, we'd show that we're the bigger person, and didn't need to be forced, in order to apologize.

So she'd also learn the lesson that other people are willing to apologize for the wrongs they did, without her having to act out with revenge.

Maybe next time, something simpler, like talking to the person might work.

She clearly believed only revenge would get her an apology.

By giving in to her and apologizing to lift the curse, she essentially learns that her behavior works, and has no incentive to change it.
