Welp you had your first taste of diplomacy and you decided it was not that tasty. So you shot the Rogue trader in the head after learning he was dealing with Chaos artifacts and working with your target.

Now the crew of the ship wants your head and you are desperately holding the bridge with the walking tank Clinks and the Xenos witch Phe'nia.

You have decided to allow Phe'nia to take a spin at the diplomacy business and praying that she does not flub it.

Welcome to Guardsman quest.
>>
alright quick and dirty, this quest is not for die hard lovers of cannon since fun and shenanigans beat cannon for the most part. Though I will accept info about the warhammer 40k universe general rule of thumb is fun is king here

You toss the vox over to Phe'nia who catches it with one hand and looks at it funny "how do I work this primitive technology?"

"you press the button on the side and start talking, wait how did you not know how to use a vox?"

"Eldar dont use primitive tech like this, anyways" she finds the talk button and presses it down "Crew of the Rogue Trader, I of the Retinue of Inquisitor Simun ask you to cease fighting and stand down. We have killed enough of you today."

nothing changes, the people who are shooting keep shooting, welp that did not work "I thought you said you were good at diplomacy."

"that would have worked if they were actually intelligent beings." Phe'nia spits back going back to killing things with her mind

You look around the room and spot another console, should you run for it you could get get shot or you could just stay here and lay down suppressing fire.

Clinks was still tanking the bullets like a boss keeping the angry crew out of this bridge but that could only last so long.

You sigh, well since it came to this may as well unload some superior firepower onto these asshats. With that you aim over the cover and take three shots, each one blow though the unarmored assailants like tissue paper. you then notice those behind the people you killed have lowered their weapons.

"See I told you it would work." Phe'nia states triumphantly

"Bullshit," you spit back at her "you had no idea that they would stop fighting."

"you just don't like the idea that a Xenos got you a crew."

"no I don't like you lieing to try and make yourself look better."

"[Will you two stop arguing and someone talk to these people, I doubt they will listen to me.]"

With that you get out of cover and walk past the hunk of wraithbone who moves swiftly out of the way. one crewmember steps forward, sort of old his hair already greying, he speaks up "I am Bern head butler to Sir Heris, I now ask you to be merciful to the staff of this crew. they know not what they were doing."

"I am merciful Bern," you state looking straight into his eyes "but how can I be sure that you will not betray me to avenge your master."

"Permission to speak freely?" Bern asks standing with his back straight his face like stone

"Granted." you answer back

"Sir Heris was the worst master I ever had the displeasure of serving under. He was a lair, a cheat, and worked with emperor forsaken demons. Needless to say most of us will not miss his disrespectful ass."

"so in short you don't care that I killed him."

"no, those who did now lay dead at your feet. Fine job I must say."

"and the massacre in the hall?"

"they will be missed but for the most part most of us do not hold grudges, they wanted your life and therefore you had reason to attack."

you nod, wow pragmatic bunch these guys. That is useful but also kinda dangerous, they could abandon you for someone they see offering a better deal. You could give them a really good deal or you could try to keep them under your heel forcibly.

"can any of you set up connections to my ship, I want my Techpriest to have full access."

The butler snaps his fingers and two men walk past him, unarmed, and into the bridge with Phe'nia watching them closely.

"So Inquisitor Simun, will you accept us into your service?"

>[1] accept them and give them a good deal, a happy ally is much more useful than an unhappy one especially since you cant be on two ships at once

You think for a bit, sure you are going to accept them but how will you do the deed. Will you be the harsh inquisitor who keep everyone they know on a short leash, the sly inquisitor who acts gracious up front but has more plans than you can count to screw you if you betray them? you decide to be the nice inquisitor in the end, really the universe is shitty enough why make it worse?

"I accept you into my service, now Bern I wish to reward you for surrendering and submitting yourself to my judgement."

the butler bows his head, "I am humbled by your praise and your generosity."

"Bern, You will command this ship under my will. You will only answer to me and my inner circle."

Bern's head pops up, his eyes bulging almost out of their sockets "WHAT!?" he shouts in surprise

"Do not be surprised Captain Bern, you showed a level head when dealing with this situation. When presented with a situation you chose to put your weapons down and face an inquisitor's judgement instead of siding with these," you nudge the corpses with your boot "heretics and traitors."

"I-I-I" Bern stammers

"do not fret Bern, you will make a wonderful captain."

Bern bows his head again, you notice tears falling from his face "I-I-I can't even explain the gratitude I have for you Inquisitor, before I was a butler I commanded a vessel for the rogue traders. I will fly this vessel with pride for the inquisition."

You look behind Bern and notice many of the servants nodding approvingly several hug each other, seems we made a popular choice. "Well Captain Bern, I hope you can insure that there will be no uprisings against us in the near future."

"worry not inquisitor, I will make sure that there will be no threat to your person on this vessel as long as I draw breath."

You nod and turn back towards your Xenos companions, now that we have made the crew like us and made the new captain actually crying with happiness time to decide what to do next.

Alright last writing for tonight, I need some sleep

You decide it's time to see if you can get in contact with your cogboy though the comms yet. You head over to where the your Eldar friend is standing by the two mechanics. "do you have comms yet?"

"yes sir." says one of the mechanics "we activated those first, who would you like to contact first sir."

"connect us to my ship, I want to speak with my techpriest."

The man hits some buttons on the console and you hear Drauge's voice come from the machine "Hello?"

"Drauge it's me"

"I guess you managed to get the alliance of the Rogue Trader?"

"No, he is dead. He was working with our fake."

"Should I send the cleaning servitors to clean up the massacre."

"I did not kill the entire crew"

"wow, improvement."

"your sarcasm is not appreciated Drauge, I the men here are granting your full access from the ship, I want you to search the ship's files for anything pertaining to our little fake."

"Alright, still sending those servitors."

"Don't, they have people here for that." With that you close the call, welp... oh shit how is Clinks doing he got pelted for quite a while before the bullets stopped.

Quickly you look around the room and spot Clinks, a quick observation reveals only a few scratches to his paint, god fucking damn this guy does not take any damage.

"Clinks, are you indestructible?"

"[no, I'm just tougher than anything the enemy has thrown at us.]"

Alright our walking tank is fine, good thing too since we have no idea how to repair him anyways.

Huh.. Did you had a stroke while writing that?

You decide that it's best to know everything on this ship, a synopsis usually leaves something important out all honesty. "I'm going to need access to captain's logs as well as all the logs of the shipments done by this ship." you order the two techies in front of you

the one that spoke before speaks up again "yes lady inquisitor, but I doubt you will be able to read all of the ship's dealing in a single sitting."

"then get me the latest one's in the past week, I want to know what this ship has been doing."

The techies nod and take out a data-slate, the hook the thing into the computer and a few minutes later they disconnect it and had it to you.

You begin reading into the data usually normal stuff aside from several payments done by 'the patron' guessing that is the fake inquisitor, the dates line up right since you and that guy separated.

several more lines of normal shipments and several sales of chaos artifacts later you notice something surprising, Shipment: Orks, status onboard. well then we have orks on this ship, interesting.

you put down the slate sure it has shipment times and where the payments came from but it seems Heris corrupted the data for the location of where the payments from 'the patron' were coming from. Son of a bitch, you stuff the data-slate into your jacket. well at least we have cut down one of that faker's allies and turned the ship against him. Still we are lacking information of where this guy is hiding on the planet. FUCK!

"Inquisitor, something wrong?" you hear Phe'nia ask

"Just it seems Heris removed any info on the location of the payments on the planet, seems we are not tracking him though the money."

"Oddly loyal for a Rogue trader, anything else?"

"The ship currently has Orks on it, as cargo."

"guessing they intended to use them as slaves or something."

"All I know is Heris was crazy, working with chaos and having orks on his ship, never a good idea."

"so what are you going to do now."

>[1] we take this planet side, we are not getting any information here. It is time we unleash the inquisition and sweep this planet.

You groan, this is going to be probably really fucking annoying to deal with and all honesty not something you want to deal with right now. But this is your job, and probably the hidden masters made you an inquisitor because they did not want another inquisitor doing this. you rub your temples and finally you reach a decision. "we are going planet side."

"really?" Phe'nia asks "with no leads?"

"We are not going to get any leads here and that planet below us is my home planet, I know it better than most."

"that hell hole near the eye of terror is where you were born? I feel kinda sorry for you."

"ya lets skip the sob story and get down there alright." You look at the new captain "you wanna get us down there?"

"Well," Bern starts "yes I will do my best to be discrete about you as well, I doubt we want to start an uproar about an inquisitor arriving."

"alright, keep comms open with our ship I want them to know everything that happens. Also keep those Orks under control, I don't want that cargo to get out."

"Yes lady inquisitor."

You stand back and let the crew do their thing, moving around opening comms with the port authority, all that good stuff that you sure as hell don't want to be a part of since it sounds boring. eventually you arrive on the planet, well more accurately on the hive city where you disembark from the ship.

you smell the stenches of your city the putrid smell of human waste, smell of ozone from welding, the smell of stale alcohol and much more, its good to be home.

"By the rotting flesh of nurgle, how do you stand this smell." Phe'nia remarks holding her nose

"It grows on you." you reply noticing Clinks had gotten that techpriest robe back on and Phe'nia had recast the illusion

"I hope not, when we are done here I am taking a really long bath on the ship," she pushes you forward a bit "so what now."

you shrug and begin to scan the crowd, you loath to admit but right now the best way to catch this illusive bastard is to work with the city's underground.

As you walk through the hivecity's tunnels your eye catches a heavy cloaked man, normally no one would pay much attention to that but you spot a tattoo on the man's face. A tattoo that indicates he is part of the Iron Breakers, before you left they were small time gang but hay things could have changed.

You walk up to the man and state in low gothic "you willin to make a deal?"

"why you askin?"

"gotta good deal for you and your gang, I'm lookin for someone specific. This someone does not wanna be found."

"what you got for us in return."

"we will talk that when I can meet with your leaders, its a matter of importance for the imperium." you shift your coat and tap your Rosette and the man's eyes bulge, he staggers back before he lowers his head

"I-It will be done Inquisitor, f-follow me." he quickly turns down a ally and you follow with your companions in toe.

a half an hour later the man brings you to a bar, why is it always bars, and ushers you inside past the security guard outside.

As you enter you see at least thirty men with similar facial tattoos and in the back sits one man alone with a shot glass and a bottle of whisky.

The man quickly brings you over to the man "T-These people wish to talk to you sir."

"shut your sniveling, who gave you permission to bring these people here."

"B-But sir-"

"NO BUTS, you decide to lead three unknown people into our hideout without permission. Not only that but one of them is an Eldar." you are genuinely surprised at this and check on Phe'nia to see if her disguise has dropped, it had not.

"Sir, it's an Inquisitor. She has the Rosette and everything."

"and?"

"Sir?"

"I don't care if she is the emperor incarnate, no one comes to me without my permission."

You decide you have heard this man spit poison enough "Do you want to make me angry or will you talk." you state angrily "I came here to offer you a deal, will you hear me out or will I have my bolter do the talking."

the entire bar goes silent, you hear weapons being moved behind you but you don't care. These fuckers want to act big, they don't know what big is.

The man stares at you and cracks a smile "so girly what is this deal you plan on offering."

>[1] offer to have a crime they committed removed off the record for their service, they are doing the imperium a favor by helping us.

Alright writing

You wrack your brain for what you are going to offer them, a bullet to the brain crosses your mind several times before you decide on offering to release some of their arrested guys for info.

"I will have some of your members who have been arrested released if you help me with my mission here."

"and?"

"what do you mean and."

"you think we will just give you information for letting some of our failures out of the big house?"

"If you don't like that deal then we will go elsewhere, I believe there are other gangs in the city who will realize the value of working with the imperium's inquisition."

"now wait just a damned minute how can I trust you after another 'inquisitor' came in here and nearly set the place on fire then took some of our men as hostages."

"ah so you may have encountered our target."

"are you saying you are here to end that asshole?"

"I believe 'put a bolt though his skull' was the mission I was given."

The man suddenly smiles and slaps both hands on the table "WHY THE HELL DID YOU NOT SAY SO EARLIER!" he waves for his men to bring something "get us some drinks, we have a deal to discuss."

you and your group sit down at the table as the man now much more friendly continues "Two weeks ago some bastard claiming to be part of the Ordo Hereticus came in here claiming to know of some heretics in our group, he grabbed my brother and several of our best men. Haven't seen them since so I took control of the gang to hold it together."

"how strong are you these days, I was born here and I remember you being small."

"we swallowed several other gangs and now control a third of the black market, we have been sending that bastard food and supplies on the promise that he is keeping my brother alive."

"I'm sorry to say, your brother is probably dead or worse."

"worse?"

"lets leave it at, you really don't want to know."

the man nods "either way, I want him dead"

"do you know where he is?"

"no, he sends runners to pick up the supplies at drop points but this time he is asking for something special, slaves."

"guessing he usually does not order slaves."

"correct, now before we go any further I have a list of five people I want out of jail before we do this" a man walks up with several bottles of whisky and a scroll of paper

"guessing these are the names?"

"yes, best killers I know of. ex-military, murder cult, and just damned crazy but they know how to kill."

"are you saying you want me to free these five to use them against my target." suddenly your vox goes off and you bring it to your ear "hello? I'm in the middle of a meeting"

"It's me," Drauge's voice comes though "I wish to inform you that I have contacted a detachment of Grey knights to assist us, knowing our faker probably uses demons it's best we bring the experts."

"you called them without my permission?"

"I took the liberty, also how is the search going."

"one moment," you mute the vox and look at the gang leader "sir.."

"William"

(continued)
>>
"Sir william, I will release those five but I cannot bring them with me on the mission. this is something that only specialists are allowed to deal with."

William nods "I get it Inquisition policy, still those five have uses elsewhere."

"so do we have a deal?"

"yes"

you and William shake hands and you take the piece of paper, "how long until the next drop?"

"two days." William responds "and they are only expecting normal humans so that hunk of metal and the Xenos are not going to cut it."

"how are you seeing though her illusion."

the man smiles "I'm a blank, psyker fuckery does not work on me."

as so she is just actively changing people's perception of her, well thank the emperor that blanks are very rare.

You and your group get up from the table, alright we have two days to get the men out and prepare for the drop day. you unmute Drague "Deal has been made."

"alright." the vox cuts as you realize it is out of juice for now

You leave the bar taking careful note of where it is and then start towards the local planetary defense station, those men better not have been shipped off as penal legion yet. As you pass though the streets you begin recognizing areas that you had gone to when you were young and a guy. some pipe you and several other kids used to use for climbing, a dirty ditch you would trip adults into, and several other places ah the nostalgia.

"inquisitor, where are we going?" Phe'nia asks behind you

"the local planetary defense station, we need to have those five released."

"are you sure that is a good idea."

"you have a better one?"

"fair enough."

several minutes later you arrive at the station where several rather green guards stood, alright if this is what is on this planet then we are going to need those specialists.

as you walk towards the door the men step in your way "No unauthorized persons can enter this building ma'am"

"I don't need authorization."

"Ma'am I'm warning you back off."

you roll your eyes and grab the Rosette if theses guys want to get in your way then may as well make them shit themselves "Do you know what this is, guardsman."

"A Rosette."

"and do you know what that means."

"That you are a member of the inquisition."

"now will you let me pass, or will I have to force my way though."

the man stands there for a second before his companion pulls him aside "what are you doing, she could kill us."

"we have orders."

"inquisition trumps orders, Inquisitor you may pass."

You nod and walk past the two guardsmen into the building, you were expecting it to be dirty and you are not disappointed, graffiti covers the walls, the floor is covered in dirt and there was a distinct smell of piss. you walk up to the front desk Rosette in hand the guardsman sitting there looks up at you "yes?"

"I want to talk to your commanding officer."

he nods and points his thumb down a hall, "three doors down, expect him to be drunk and probably covered in his own piss. he's not worth the salt he ingests."

you follow his directions and open the door to see a fat man holding a bottle of cheep liquor in one hand and using the other as a headrest "who is it." the man moans.

"Inquisitor Simun." you state firmly, time to wake this fat bastard up

His head immediately pops up, his blood shot eyes wide "I-Inquisitor!"

"yes, I have a request for you, I want these five men released I also need some batteries for my vox." you throw the scroll on the table and he looks at it

"you want the five most wanted men on this planet released!"

"I have work for them."

"You must reconsider!"

"I will not, now either you will release them or I will kill you and have the next in the chain of command do so."

the fat man grows pale "v-very well inquisitor, it will be done. I pray to the emperor you know what you are doing."

"I do, now those batteries."

(cont)
>>
the man nods and pulls out his own vox, a few seconds later he had extracted the powerpack and tosses it to you "take it, I have no use for it."

"is working here that bad?"

"I used to run a clean ship here, no crime, no problems, everything was in its proper place. Now that those damned gangs joined together it is all down hill. Not to mention the fact that we are besieged by chaos every other month moral is on an all time low, no one respects my command anymore since I let my son and is squad die to save civilians."

You nod, he sacrificed and the people hated him for it you at the least could understand what he is going though. you also make a mental note that this man could be useful on your crew "before I leave what is your name"

"Joe Harkdras." you leave the man and plug in the power pack and connect to Drauge

"Drague sorry for cutting off, power went out."

"Oh I thought the machine spirit just did not like you, why did you vox me up aside from the apology."

"What are these specialists like?"

"strange, they are spacemarines but they are not like normal spacemarines."

"how?"

"well all of them have psychic abilities and are all demon killers, they have no emotion at all, and worst of all will kill anyone if there is an off chance that they may be tainted or witnessed chaos."

"so brutal and efficient."

"yes, one of them could take on a high demon of Khorne in one on one combat if I remember their combat ability correctly, but if that is all you wanted to hear I must get back to contacting them."

"one more thing, how long?"

"they will be here by tomorrow." the vox cuts, well good we have backup now and really strong backup. you head to the local inn and get a room, you the sit on the edge of your bed and plan the next day out

Alright, writing.
>>
before you ask yes im writing, it takes a while
>>
The next morning you open your eyes and get dressed, no shower in this joint. anyways you brush your hair back and look in a mirror. ever since you stopped pretending you were Sasha you pulled your hair back, looked better this way all honesty. anyways as you exit your room you see Phe'nia walking out as well rubbing her eyes and yawning

"That bed was terrible." she remarks

"It wasn't that bad."

"no matter how I turned there was a spring, and the pillow would not stay cold."

"can't you just make it cold yourself."

"that is not the point."

"[will you two actually get moving, we have only this day to prepare for the operation]"

You shrug and head out of the building, you squint your eyes as the light hits it. you decide to head to where the gang was yesterday, may as well inform them that their friends were released.

you begin heading though the city, keeping careful eye out for pickpockets and potential cultists in the crowd. a young girl tries to steal your Rosette and you catch her and after giving her a stern talking too about how she could have been killed for doing that you let her go. She probably did not know what she was doing anyways.

eventually you reach the bar and enter as the doorman lets you in. there sits William with a big smile on his face and five people sitting around him "And here comes the first inquisitor that did not backstab us after the deal, men get her a drink."

"glad to see they release your boys quickly, though Joe was always on the other side of the law I respect the man always did his job quick and clean."

"well not clean anymore." one of the five speaks up, a woman who seemed to have replaced her lower jaw with a metal "ever since his son kicked the bucket."

"damn shame" William responds "Sal was always a good man, even let us slide a few times when the crime was not bad enough."

"well," the third one at the table starts "I say drink for em." he downs his shot of whisky "to the fallen."

"to the fallen." the entire table states before downing their shots and then refilling

"so what brings you here today Inquisitor?" William asks

"just making sure that the order was followed."

"Joe always followed command, little too much I say but can't fault the man."

you nod and sit with the criminals and share a few drinks, you hear their stories how they got here and why. the girl with the metal for a mouth turned out to be a explosives expert, blew her own jaw off on accident and had a techpriest replace it with the metal one. the other man who spoke was a sniper much like you, he had tales to tell and a few pointers on how to get the most out of one shot. the other three were a hacker, a ex-death cult assassin, and an ex-guardsman who killed his commander to stop a suicidal charge then ran to avoid being killed for his action. this went on until noon where you realize you have something else to do. you quickly excuse yourself and leave the building.

(cont)
>>
You pull out your vox and connect up with the Rogue trader. "inquisitor to Rogue Trader, do you copy."

"we hear you." you hear the captain's voice come though "what do you need?"

"Was calling up to see if you had found any new information on the fake your previous employer was trading with."

"My apologize inquisitor, it seems he had taken great lengths to expunge any data that would pinpoint that man's position. it is impossible at this point."

"understood, may I ask do you have any weapons that we could use?"

"we have an orbital strike cannon."

"a what?"

"A cannon that can shoot a shot from orbit to the planet, though the explosion would probably do a fair number on the hiveworld so that is out of the question."

"fair enough, anything else?"

"we have the orks."

"I will keep that in mind but for now no."

"understood."

you continue talking to the man for a few more hours seeing if there is anything else they can give but it ends fruitlessly. and so you head to the inn again and fall asleep.

you wake up the next morning a bit groggy and get dressed, day two without shower.

You decide to vox up the cogboy and ask where the grey knight bastards were going to meet you, better they know where you are going so they can actually be there.

"Drauge, need to talk" you speak into the vox

"yes?"

"where are the grey knights meeting me?"

"right about that, they are coming in now."

"From where?"

"your current location, in the room next to you."

"what," you check in your room seeing no grey knights "they are not there."

"call them out."

you duck your head into the room "Grey knights this is the inquisitor, show yourselves." suddenly from the closet, under the carpet, and under the bed ten marines pop out, shuffling out of the room as to not overcrowd it "alright, how."

"We learned that technique from Ursarkar E. Creed my lady."

"How."

"do not ask, we are sworn to secrecy."

Phe'nia and Clinks exit their room and just stand there Phe'nia with her mouth open

"Phe'nia dont ask, I don't think you will believe me if I tell you."

she recovers from her shock and steps back "these men are our reinforcements."

"yes."

"[metal men, I like this.]"

"alright so," you are stopped by one of the marines who hands you your sniper

"Drauge requested we gave this too you."

"thanks and going on, we are going to do this clean and quick, our target is picking up slaves today and we will use this as an opportunity to track them down. Once we know their base of operations we will storm it and kill everyone in there. no survivors not even the slaves, cant risk anything with this mission. move out."

you and your squad move out of the inn which you notice no one pays any attention to your or the ten marines behind you, probably psyker shit.

as you reach the bar one of the men outside nods at you and points down an tunnel to your left "that way miss, though I don't know how you intend to take them down with only three of ya."

"I have my ways" you follow the tunnel until you reach the end and look pit the side carefully and you see him, the faker wearing silk robes and gold necklaces. he smiles checking each and every slave, all of them females, groping them to check size and quality before motioning for his minions to lead them away.

you and your men follow behind, careful to keep out of sight and not to make a sound that would alert the prey

eventually they enter a massive building with purple lights flickering out the windows and copious amounts of smoke.

"This looks like the place." your vox goes off and you pick it up "yes?"

"Ma'am" the captain of the rogue trader's ship begins "I have been informed by Drauge to prepare the Orks for deep strikes on your command."

you groan, Drauge what the hell are you thinking. well you could just never order it but hay maybe sudden greenskins from the sky may actually help "Alright but make sure to keep them under control"

"aye ma'am"

alright how do you want to take this

"Alright men, we are probably outnumbered, out gunned, and they probably have demons. But when has that ever stopped the inquisition." you pause but the Knights remain motionless, stoic group these guys "Anyways, I will be taking a sniping position on one of these buildings, clinks I want you to be the vanguard smash though that door and give them hell, Knights I want you to follow him inside and slaughter anything you see that is an enemy."

The Knights nod but aside from pulling their weapons out give little response

"Phe'nia I want you to work on being psykic artillery, just bomb the shit out of everything inside that building aside from the knights and Clinks."

"and if there are civilians?" Phe'nia asks

"Too late for them, they are most likely tainted by chaos. Leave no survivors."

with that the battle plan was set, clinks gets down on all fours and prepares to charge, you climb the outside of a building and when you get to comfortable spot you take aim with your scope. you realize it's on the weird setting since you see a lot of grey and about five bright lights, one being massive as hell. you switch it back to normal and take aim though one of the windows.

breath in breath out, breath in breath out, you keep repeating this in your head as you steady the sniper waiting for the perfect shot, and it comes, one of the cultists stands up and raises a goblet of something and starts talking. you take the shot and the man's head is gone, the goblet goes flying from his hand as Clinks slams right though the door, from your vantage point you see him immediately ram his hand though one of the cultist's chests and rips their heart out.

The Kinghts follow as phe'nia starts lobbing fireballs and pieces of building through the windows. The knights are brutal and efficient killing everything in the room with their power swords and heavy bolters. you see several of the people freeze up and you proceed to blow their heads off.

Eventually there is just too much chaos for you to effectively blow heads off in so you drop from your sniping point and sling the sniper behind your back. pulling out your bolter you head though the door, you note Phe'nia had blocked all other exits with rubble.

as you enter you realize that there is not really much for you to do. there are only four cultists left alive, three of them crying and holding their heads the fourth one holding up a shield, it was the fake. "Oh good to see you again." you state cheerfully

"You bitch, how dare you attack me."

"well seeing how you gave me one hundred lashings for a minor offense I thought this would be suitable response."

"when I kill you a swear it will be the most painful and horrific way I can imagine, your screams will echo in the warp for eternity."

"big words for a man cowering behind a shield."

"Is he the one," one grey knight asks his vocie emotionless

"yes, and the order was to kill not capture. Would you like to do the honors?"

(cont)
>>
Before you an complete the sentence the shield breaks and the Grey knights unload everything into the remaining survivors, a few moments later all four are dead, the fake now having a few extra holes in his chest well what was left of his chest.

"mission complete." the grey knight states before you raise your hand

"No, one cult means there might be another. search the base for any information on other cults in the area. they may have been working together."

The knights nod and leave, all but one who turns towards you "I have a question Inquisitor."

"you may ask it."

"why do you have Eldar in your employ?"

"long story, simply put I saved their lives and thus they work for me to pay back the debt. also you are not permitted to mention this to anyone, understood.

"yes inquisitor." the grey knight states before leaving to join his battle brothers

You decide to scan the bodies for any living things pretending to be dead, you fucking immediately notice half the fuckers were just pretending to be dead "Knights, I think you need to clean up better when killing."

You whip out your bolter and star shooting as the cultists begin getting up from the floor, thankfully you catch them by surprise and execute all of them before they can even get a shot off.

After that you notice the fake crawling towards the door and you walk up to him and kick him over "Really, is this the best you can do?"

"fucking bitch, how?"

"never try to hide shit from a professional sniper, we train to notice everything."

the fake continues swearing and you slowly reload your bolter before sticking it to his head "when you see your god tell it that this will not be the last minion I send to it."

You pull the trigger and blow his brain out the back of his head. ok you don't want to admit this but that felt really good.

you notice behind you Phe'nia scratching something out of the ground and she looks at you "Just breaking this ritual circle, that way it wont activate on accident."

"good thinking, also grey knights what have you found?"

"Reports that this was just a starting cult, it seems a bigger one was trying to expand to other planets. here is a list but be cannot be sure which one is the originator." the grey knight walks over to you and hands you a scroll, you open it and read four different planets as well as a name under each one, guessing that those names are the one's sent to start the new cults also it seems the fake's real name was Chester.

you stuff the scroll in your pocket, good you have more targets.

"alright we have targets and we are going to kill them, we have names and locations now so lets get moving." you turn to leave and your group follows. a few blocks away you here an explosion "what was that?"

The knight responds "we rigged the place with melta grenades. no evidence could be left behind."

"[efficient metal men, they will do well on our missions.]"

"you know Clinks you kinda just state the obvious all the time." Phe'nia responds to clinks

"[no I do not]" Clinks responds killing the conversation then and there

you walk in relative silence though the city back to the port, no parade, no thanks, no nothing. just another day on the job. eventually you reach the port and to your surprise you see Joe standing there in full uniform "I thought I would see you here inquisitor, just wanted to catch you before you leave. Guessing that explosion was your doing?"

"yes, had to ensure nothing survived." seems the Knights were doing the avoid attention shenanigans again.

"well though no one will know exactly what you did there I thank you for your work. please take this." he offers you a combat knife, well crafted too with the words 'Emperor's fury' etched in high Gothic on the side of the blade. you take it and thank him for the gift though your weapons were probably better it was the thought that counts.

as you fly to your ship you open the scroll again.

You sigh and decide we are going to Stratus-5 to find that Rigmos Devkan person and end his miserable little life. on the way Phe'nia falls asleep and her head comes to rest on your shoulder. you realize you are also really fucking tired, damn killing a cult base really takes it out of you Combat fatigue you are a scary thing you know that.

you reach your ship and stumble out carrying Phe'nia on your back as Clinks and the grey knights shuffle out and disappear into the ship leaving you along with the passed out Eldar. since you are not going to walk all the way to your room you decide to just drop her in your room. nothing bad could happen from that right?

you eventually make it there without passing out and lug Phe'nai onto the bed before collapsing on it as well and falling asleep.

this night's dream was weird, like really weird. No demon or god or clown that night instead you find yourself sitting on a grassy hill overlooking a beautiful sea. a rather tall man sits next to you, his long brown hair silky and flowing in the wind. you feel safe by this man, he looks at you his golden eyes soft and hopeful, one sentence passes though his lips "Let it begin."

You wake with a start, Phe'nia was not in your room anymore. anyways that was a weird ass dream. You remove your clothes and take a quick shower to get off the grime of three days, ah this is heaven, and you then get ready to go to the bridge.

on the way to the bridge Terisa walks up next to you "good to see you again." she states kinda emotionlessly.

"and which personality are you?"

"the normal one."

"come again?"

"the one without weird quirks"

"ah" you state as you make it to the bridge "anyways I need to talk to Drauge so," before you complete the sentence she leaves "wow cold"

You enter the bridge as Drauge turns around "Hello Inquisitor, what brings you here today?"

"we have targets and names, we are going to Stratus-5"

"chaos cult?"

"yup."

"alright it will take a bit but I'll have the navigator get us there."

You decide to head over to the Grey knights to see what they are doing, they cant always be in that armor right?

After grabbing a slave and having it show you where to go you enter their barracks, and its empty.... wait a second "Grey Knights it's me."

You hear nothing for a few seconds and then suddenly the Knights begin appearing out from under random ass places, hell two came out from under the table in the room. HOW DO THEY FUCKING DO THAT!

"alright you need to stop doing that."

"I apologize Inquisitor, our codex states that we must remain unseen by the general populous of the imperium for their own protection."

"keep the chaos hidden and such."

"indeed ma'am"

"also I saw that wrist mounted gun you have there." you also just realize when saying that they are still in full armor. psyker bullshit is probably the reason they can remain hidden so well.

"ah yes, the wrist mounted storm bolter."

"you think it would be possible for someone like myself to use it?"

"no."

"really? they can fix the arthritis later with medicine or machinery"

"your bones would break."

"you guys have no humor you know that?"

"Humor is not needed for our mission, therefore we have purged ourselves of it."

an awkward silence fills the room as you realize these guys have less personality than most servitors, you excuse yourself from the room and head back into the hall, you feel the rumble though the ship as it enters the warp, ok now what since the ship did not turn into nightmares immediately.

you leave the hall and head towards the bridge, best to have the cogboy send the message to the HQ about mission accomplished and such.

eventually you reach the bridge of the ship and hear Drauge singing again, oh boy what is it this time.

As you enter you see Terisa sitting in a chair, her eyes closed and brow furrowed, Drauge was singing his prayers to the machine and Mirasi taps your shoulder "Don't worry about that."

"what are they doing?"

"the field got hit by a rather nasty demon and the machine spirit got freaked out so they are trying to calm it down."

"wait Terisa usually pisses off the machine spirits."

"usually, this is one of the few times she does not."

you feel a tug on your sleeve as Terisa had gotten up and walked over to you "inquisitor mind coming to my level for a bit?"

you get on your knees getting to her level "what is it?"

"clench your teeth." she states and you do so knowing what is coming next but you dont move to stop it.

the punch was not hard but it carried a message, don't hit her again. "alright we are calling this even, hit me again though and I will hit you harder next time."

"I had my reasons," you state rubbing your jaw

"ya, no excuses."

you shrug and get to your feet as Drauge stops singing and walks over too you "you took that well Inquisitor, now why did you come up here?"

"when we get out of the warp I want you to send a message to HQ that we have killed the fake but I have started a campaign to hunt down the other cults that are connected to the one that I just destroyed."

"I did send the mission complete before we even went into the warp, but I will send the rest of the message after."

"Drauge you know how bad you would make me look if I actually had failed and you sent that?"

"yes, but I did not thing you would fail killing such a insignificant enemy of the imperium."

"now your just trying to flatter your way out of a lecture."

"did it work?"

"yes, now then Mirasi are you still acting as psyker babysitter?"

"sorta." Mirasi responds hoisting Terisa on her shoulders "feels like I'm this kid's mom at times."

You then turn towards Terisa and Mirasi "so what happened between you two since I was gone?"

Terisa perks up "well aside from just talking a bunch I helped her with some books that she had."

"right those books." Mirasi states a little less joyously "I though we talked about not just blurting that out."

"sorry"

"anyways yes Terisa helped me with some translations in that book though that problem we discussed is still there."

"be a shame if it went away, again kinda cute." you reply to Mirasi who's face turns red

"stop calling it cute!"

"but it is."

"Just dont!"

"fine fine, anyways continue with the story."

"well turns out we both like a lot of the same things like sweets and things like that." Terisa continues "also I helped her with cleaning her room and other things. we kidna just grew on each other."

so close contact for extended periods can do that, interesting

about thirty minutes later you exhaust any conversation piece you have for them and excuse yourself

Alright writing, also I will be in the discord for most of today so if you want to talk as I write then you are welcome
>>
Alright Phe'nia has been weirdly absent, usually she would show up and give her input but she remained missing for quite a while.

You walk down a few halls and after getting lost again you grab a slave and have it direct you to where Phe'nia's room was. You eventually get there, god damn all these grey corridors look the same, and open the door.

You see Phe'nia sprawled on the ground, a small pool of blood forming under her nose. Well shit "PHE'NIA!" you shout running to her side. you check her vitals, from what you can tell she is stable, her eye flicker open

"Simun?" she asks weakly

"what happened, did a crewman attack you?"

"n-no, it's just using too much power has this effect on me."

"and you did not mention that to me?"

"it's shameful." she mutters under her breath but you catch it

"what do you mean?"

"I dont want to talk about it."

"Phe'nia, I am trying to help you and you still owe me so spit it out."

Phe'nia hesitates for a bit and then gives you a small glare "I come from a race of extremely powerful psykers but I can only use minimal power safely. I'm barely stronger than your human psyker. I'm a failure of a farseer." she closes her eyes and you notice tears forming at the edges of them. damn this must be a really sore point for her.

you are at a loss for words for a bit, a weak Farseer actually you remember her killing a lot of men with her mind with no strain "wait what about when you just flat out killed like twenty men with your mind?"

"I just cut the brainstem with the warp, anyone can do that."

"never seen Terisa do that."

"my master always told me quality over quantity with my powers but still my limit reminds me that I'm no better than one of your mon'kai psykers."

You decide to take this moment to hug Phe'nia close, you really can't imagine what she went though as a child but it could not have been enjoyable. you feel her shutter and you know she is crying but she refuses to allow any sound out.

about ten minutes later she had stopped shaking and she pushes you back "I'm fine now Inquisitor." she states but her eyes are still red and puffy "I just needed some rest."

"Phe'nia if you ever feel like you are reaching your limit, you tell me immediately."

"Please I know how to control myself."

"that was an order Phe'nia, I don't want you to be incapacitated when we are on a mission."

You suddenly hear over the ship's comms Drauge's voice ring out "Approaching Stratus-5, exiting warp" you feel the ship rumble again "successful."

>[1] stay with Phe'nia a bit longer, she might need the company considering how long she was crying
>[2] head to the bridge, no time to let emotions get in your way we have a mission on this planet

You pull out your vox still holding onto Phe'nia and connect up to Drauge "Drauge do you read me?"

"yes inquisitor."

"how is the acquired vessel doing?"

"it made it out of the warp clean but we have a little strange occurrence."

"that being?"

"the Orks want to talk to, and I quote, ter da boz"

"why?"

"don't have a clue, they are orks so we can't expect them to make sense"

"Alright I'll make a note of that."

you turn back to keeping Phe'nia in your lap "well that was weird."

"what was it?"

"the orks want to talk to me."

"alright I'm going to call bullshit on that one."

"i'm not jokeing."

"you can't be serious, this is as bad as one of Eldrad's jokes."

"Eldwho?"

"you don't need to know, just know he is a dick."

you stay with the eldar for a good hour more making jokes and talking about silly crap to get her to feel better. suddenly out from under Phe'nia's bed a grey knight climbs out

"inquisitor, I was sent by Drauge to pick you up."

"Nil ann ach cleasai, agus tá an iomad measa aige air féin." Phe'nia mutters under her breath

"right, did not understand that but alright I'll head to the bridge if it's that important."

you and Phe'nia dislodge your selves and you leave the the Grey Knight following closely behind you. an hour later you reach the bridge and to your surprise you see Drauge sitting across from a rather large Ork

"And I told them that you cant just use a bolter to kill a machine spirit"

"ya dat uumie must ab bin a totul blogg 'ead, ow cud ee tink a bullet cud kills sumdin' wif'out form"

they both start laughing and you cough catching their attention "ah yes they is the inquisitor I mentioned earlier, Simun this is Akkaz"

"pleasur ter meet a uumie loike ya" the Ork states getting up and nodding

"Alright first off Drauge why did you bring an Ork on my ship without my permission."

"because I believe that this is the best place to have negotiations."

"Drauge, next time you do something like this I wont let you go anywhere near a toaster for the next month."

Drauge takes a step back "why would you be that cruel."

you ignore the techpriest and look at the ork "Alright what do you want."

"meeb an da orkies are gerrin restlez, meeb came ter ask if ya wuud tink o' leddin' us ab sum fun on da planet"

oh god his low gothic was terrible but from what you could get he wants you to bring him and the orks with you.

You decide to sit down with the Ork and talk things out, you gesture for him to sit down and he does. "alright you have plaque my interest, speak how can you be useful for my inquisition."

"Uumie ya rilly tink meeb wuud go awl dis way ter talk ter ya an nub tink dat weeb wuud ab usz" you almost cover your ears at the horrid butchering of Low Gothic you hear from the Ork.

you wince a bit but continue "Well what are your orks good at?"

"oh y'knowz smashin' stuff, destroyin' buildin's, killin' targets, an yellin' rilly loud" you bearly understand what this green skin is talking about, something about smashing things?

you look at Drauge for a translation "right he said he was good at smashing things, killing targets, and destroying buildings."

"Right..... I'm going to need some time to think about my decision. Mind if I come back to you in a few days?"

"Inqwisitor meeb an mi boyz ab bin cooped up in a cell fer Mork knows ow long, meeb Will nub wait ony longa. ya will giv meeb an answa 'ere an nows!" the Ork nearly yells into your face, a bit of spit hits your cheek and you wipe it off.

Welp better just get a smug on the reputation than have a full on Ork revolt on your hands. anyways no one said you had to use them in front of the imperium's citizens "Alright Ork, you and your friends can work for me. But remember you only attack when I say so and only who I say so."

"Awright inqwisitor meeb an mi fellows at yer command, weeb await yer ordaz ter unleash Gork'z fury" the Ork gives a toothy smile and then cocks his head "so werr are weeb goin' nows"

you sigh as you finally manage to figure out what he is saying though that Ork mouth "First off I'm going down to the planet and getting information to find our target. "wuud it nub be easia fer us orkiss ter jus' sweep though da place an kills evreefin'?"

"Ya that casualty count is not what I'm looking for Ork. you work for me so understand we are doing surgical strikes, minimal casualties for us and civilians."

"so ya wurk loike dem unorky kommandos, curse it awl ter Mork fine but don't expect us ter be 'appy ubbout it"

with that the Ork gets up from the chair and heads out of the room, a guards quickly follows behind

"well that could have gone better."

"hay at least you have Orks now"

"what kind of Inquisitor uses Orks, at this point if I did not have the hidden masters go ahead to use anything I can get my hands on to kill these fucking cultists I would be a heretic."

"Drauge I want you to get me connected to HQ, immediatly."

Drauge turns towards a consol and asks "why?"

"I want them to get an update on my progress from my mouth, also lets follow normal protocol, aka only I am privy to what I'm going to tell them."

"why?"

"because having your comments while I'm giving a report is going to get annoying."

the cogboy sighs and hits a few buttons "there connection secured, now then." Drauge turns and leaves

you step up to the console and hit the connect button, "This is inquisitor Simun speaking."

"yes, yes Now then why did you call us?" you hear the familiar voice of the man who passed judgement on you earlier come though

"I have eliminated the fake that was parading around as an inquisitor."

"your earlier report stated as much."

"my apologies, my techpriest Drauge sent that without my knowledge." you hear the man grumble behind the mic before returning

"so why have you not returned to HQ?"

"I found a list of planets and names, I believe that this one man was not working alone. This corruption is far more widespread than we thought."

"how many planets."

"five including the one I just eliminated." you hear some swearing behind the connection

"Alright, we are upping this mission priority, we thought this was simply a single small group but if there are multiple planets involved then this is much bigger than we expected."

"yes sir."

"again we are granting you complete amnesty you may use any and all means you see fit to deal with this problem, aside from exterminatus, use Xenos if you have too but make sure chaos is stopped."

well that fixes quite a few problems "My lord is there anything you could send us to assist with this mission."

you hear a sigh before the man speaks again "there is nothing we can send at the moment, the ordo is spread thin since the increase of chaos activity across the galaxy. This level of activity has not been seen since the last black crusade."

"alright my lord, I will eliminate these four chaos cults and return to HQ when it is completed, Emperor protects."

the connection cuts and you are left with both a feeling of relief and dread, chaos has been more active recently that can only mean problems.

You leave the console and head to the ship bay, may as well make sure that the other ship gets the message, The orks work for us now.

as you enter the bay you see that Ork you saw earlier, what was his name Asomething. well actually this is a good thing. we can take the ship over with him.

"good to see you again ork." you state walking up to the big green Xenos

"an inqwisitor gud ter see ya so soon, 'ope yer nub 'ere wif bad news"

"no bad news, actually I wanted to go with you to the other ship make sure they knew you worked for us now."

the Ork nods and enters the transport and you do as well, a few minutes pass and you land in the rogue trader's ship as you and the green skin exit you notice a lot of the crew are armed and pointing those arms at the Ork "Stand down men, he is not hostile."

most of them put their weapons away but a few don't

"'ay dumb ploppaz me'm workin' wif ya nows so treat an ork wif respekt" Akkaz yells at the men who did not put their guns down and they hurry to do so.

"you have a way with words dont you Ork." the Ork just chuckes as you and it go deeper into the ship, finally you reach the captain who nearly jumps out of his shoes when he sees the Ork

"Inquisitor if you are going to bring one of those killing machines around with you mind telling me beforehand so I don't have a heart attack."

"then steal yourself now..... we are working with these orks."

a moment passes as the captain registers what you said "WHAT!"

"da inqwisitor got a gud 'ed on 'er shouldaz ya see, saw da potentiul o' da WHAAAG on 'er side"

"what he said." you state after Akkaz butts into the conversation

"are you absolutly sure this is a good idea."

"no but at this point we have no other options, do you have access to a extremely efficient and powerful fighting force? no? guess we sticking with Orks."

"our onlee reqwest iz weeb git ter keep da teef an weeb git ter paint our vehiclz red"

"why red?"

"Red makz stuff go fast, doncha knowz sumthing so simple?"

"alright? sure. anyways make sure the crew knows the orks are working with us" you step closer and whisper so Akkaz cant hear "if they try anything dont be afraid to remove them if you have too."

"Yes Inquisitor, it shall be done. Now then I will work to give you and your men some quarters, for now please just remain in the cargo hold."

"Awright" the Ork responds and both the captain and the Ork depart down the hall, now what to do.

You head back to the bay and notice that one of the ships was now painted red and had four orks sitting around it messing with their guns.... well what you took to be guns they kinda were poorly designed and all, one had like seven barrels.

You get onto one of the transports and have them fly you back to your ship, as you land you see Drauge waiting for you "hello again inquisitor, I have some good news."

"talk and walk." you state walking past him "what is it."

"I figured out what the scope's second sight is, and you would not believe it."

"how rare."

"only group that is authorized for this tech is the assassin temples, anyways the sight lets you see who is a psyker in a crowd."

"useful, why don't they just give this type of thing to the black ships?"

"expensive and difficult to use. but none the less it will be helpful since it also allows you to see disguised demons, though you will have to figure out if they are demons or just psykers."

"always a catch." you state walking quite quickly though the grey halls of your ship, damn you need someone to..... feel a headache as Thera's voice ring though

"How the fuck did that governor get that? oh wait right I remember."

"shut it demon" you respond back mentally

eventually you reach where the sleeping killing machine lays, in its glass cocoon, in it sleep it still twitches. you bring up the combat log of this thing.

Unit service life four. Number of sorties, two hundred and sixty. Estimated enemy casualties inflicted, eight thousand five hundred and thirty.

Wounds: T4-T6 thoracic vertebrae shattered from an World Eater Champion, left arm amputated after close combat with Ork Warboss, forty nine separate stubber and lasgun wounds. thirty two separate Bolter wounds. Five cardiac arrests and automated restarts. The list goes on for several pages.

"by the emperor, can you even kill something like this?"

"yes, but it will explode."

"why do we even have something like this?"

"you remember the kinds of foes we face."

"right."

anyways all the stuff checks out, seems you can voice command it to be awakened and give it targets, it also seems to have been conditioned not to attack you or anyone you tell it not too. convenient.

You turn to Drauge turning the combat logs off "alright I want you to brief me on Stratus-5, what are we facing when we go down there."

"well if you had given me some more time to gather information I would have had a much better idea of what the world is like, but from what I do know it is classified as a Hive world."

"great so lots of ground to cover."

"yes."

"does it have a history of cults."

"yes but only small ones, the populous is hard to sway away from the emperor's teachings."

"so anything less than a full demon invasion wont turn the planet."

"well yes, but I advise caution this is the enemy's home turf not your own."

"I was asking for info to level the playing field but if you say it's a hive world then I should be right at home."

"it is a hive world but not like yours, yours was both a hiveworld and a forge world, this planet is primarily in existence to produce food."

you nod, alright so expect a lot of plants on this hiveworld "if you find anything more send me a message though the vox."

"keep it charged this time."

with that Drauge leaves you, now what?

Pose as a rogue trader....? Loosen some lips and not have too explain the Xeno
>>
You crack your neck, if this is a hive world then you have a lot of ground to cover. Considering your last encounter with a planetary governor it probably would be best to not contact this one as he might be corrupted.

you pull out your vox and connect it to the Rogue trader's ship "Akkaz, I would like to see you on my ship as soon as possible." you close the vox and continue into Phe'nia's room.

as you enter the room you see Phe'nia with a wad of cloth in one nostril "why are you here." you states a bit annoyed

"well came to pick you up, we going heretic hunting."

she sighs "you know I'm not in the best shape."

"yes but you are a much more stable psyker than Terisa and right now I need a reliable ally."

"cant argue with that," she pulls out the cloth, only minimal amount of blood on it "finally it stopped guess you want me to bring clinks?"

"no we have another friend we are bringing."

"who?"

"you will see." both you and Phe'nia exit the room and walk to the bay, as you enter you see that red transport from before with Akkaz standing infront of it giving quite the orky smile

"so weeb bringin' da panzee wif us, well can't be 'elped if da inqwisitor ordaz."

"an ork." Phe'nia states with dread "really."

"yes, i promised him and his friends some fun."

"of all the decisions I have seen you do this has to be the most stupid."

"ya twuu goin' ter git inta da ship or are weeb goin' ter leave ya behind" Akkaz states getting into the ship, you follow and Phe'nia does as well but keeps you between her and the ork and refuses to look at him as you travel to the planet's surface

"so cover story, I'm a rogue trader and Phe'nia is my adviser, Akkaz you are my bodyguard so look big and threatening."

"big an threatenin' iz wot meeb du"

the ship lands in the spaceport thirty minutes earlier than you though and you quickly hide the Rosette, best to not to blow your cover.

you and your two companions step out, Akkaz takes his hammer and lazily throws it over his shoulder as Phe'nia sighs

"so wot weeb du boss"

actually you did not think of that, where to go first

alright, now I write
>>
You decide to head to the local Planetary governor and see what you can get out of the guy. as a rogue trader of course, make him think he is talking to someone he can speak freely too.

You wave for your companions to follow you as you walk though the space port, a terrified looking guard watches you and your ork friend who merely laughs at the man's terror.

after finally getting a land transport that can fit the ork you get directions to where you can see the planetary governor, as you head off in that direction a kid walks up to Akkaz "are you a plant man?"

Akkaz just shrugs as you drive off, eventually you reach the man's mansion, on the way though you notice quite a bit of foliage, really good places to set up an ambush.

you and your crew get out of the trasport and head to the gates where two guards stand "I'm here to speak with the governor."

"on what business," states one of the guards, seems this one is built of sterner stuff than the ones at the spaceport.

"I'm a rogue trader, I will state my business once I get to talk to the man."

"then I will not let you pass."

"Akkaz mind showing the man how Orks deal with being rejected?"

Akkaz flips his hammer off his back and takes a lazy swing "take yer bets ow far dis uumie will go flyin' boss"

"you two are insufferable" Phe'nia states and suddenly waves her hand "you will let us though the gates, we are guests and I doubt you want to make your master angry."

the guards suddenly relax "R-right honored guests, right this way." the gate opens as the guards slouch a bit

you walk past them and look at Phe'nia "what did you do?"

"little trick, just clouded their judgment for a bit, ah over there the governor."

she points at a tall man with a full beard in military uniform playing with a child as a woman looks on. the man turns and spots us and ushers the child to the woman then walks up to you three "either this is the most unexpected visit from a rogue trader ever, or the most forward attempt on my life yet. so which is it?"

"Rogue trader, just wanted to talk."

the man grunts and leads you to a table with two seats and a bench nearby "alright spill it, what do you want and what are you offering."

>[1] ask for information on a man named Rigmos Devkan, pretend you and him go back a bit and just trying to find a old friend
>[2] ask if he has heard of a man by the name of Rigmos Devkan, pretend the man scammed you on a deal and you wish to settle the score
>[3] ask if he would be interested in hiring your services in removing unwanted trouble on his planet, orks are good at removing such things

RNGESUS HEAR MY CALL 1 for >>1472730 and 2 for >>1472830

you clear your throat and give the best cocky smile you can, if you are going to pretend to be a Rogue Trader may as well do a good job of it "well you see governor I'm looking for a man by the name of Rigmos Devkan, he and I have unfinished business." you grip the handle of your bolter to make it clear that you did not like the man.

to your surprise the man at the table gets up and turns to look at the lake behind him "I have not heard that name in over a decade, that is the name of my brother."

well shit "guessing you have a story to tell."

"a short one, he wanted the position of planetary governor for himself as he was the first born but our father gave the title and rights to me, he knew that Rigmos's ambition would lead only to ruin."

"I take it he did not take the rejection well."

"he left the planet for over thirty years and then returned one day and demanded I hand over the title to him. I refused of course and he challenged me to a duel. I killed him."

"so I guess our man is just using the name."

"yes, easier to hide if you are looking for a dead man."

"my sources tell me that he is on this planet."

"yes in a grave."

"have you checked the grave?"

"why?"

"encase your dead brother decided to get back up. he seemed very alive last time I saw him."

the man shrugs and turns back to you "If you wish to dig his remains up to check you may do so, I only buried him out of ceremony not out of love."

"alright where is the grave?"

"the other side of the lake, it is surrounded by red flowers."

>[1] go to the grave a dig it up. lets see if there is a corpse in there or not
>[2] thank the man and leave, well if the name is a cover then may as well check elsewhere

you wave for your companions to get up, "alright hope you dont mind me digging it up."

"if I cared I would have not told you were it was. there is a shovel near the grave." the man turns and leaves. damn talk about emotionless on a subject anyways you and your group head out around the lake and boy did it take a while.

you reach the grave a bit sweaty and tired though both Phe'nia and Akkaz look fine fucking xenos stamina I tell ya. you see the grave, you also notice the shovel.

you walk over and grab the thing and toss it to Akkaz "Mind digging? you probably could move more dirt than I could."

he shrugs and gets to work, an hour later he had dug the entire grave up and ruined the flowers, gotta apologize to the governor later for that, you see the coffin nothing fancy just wooden and nailed down.

you jump down and rip the rotting wood off the coffin, inside you find nothing but you notice some old cloth upon closer inspection you realize this is a burial shroud and it had been on something that was not there anymore.

"well we have a walking corpse on our hands, Phe'nia is there any chaos god that can make the dead move?"

"necromancy.... no this is not that, I am betting this guy was a demonhost before he died."

"then how did the governor kill him?"

"I tried reading his mind and he was able to block me out if that tells you anything, what I did get is he probably could kill us all if we wanted to"

"comforting so I guess he must have taken this thing down before it could do shit."

"indeed, and seems he did not finish the job. Damn thing must have dug it's way out and then reburied the coffin to hide the evidence."

great a smart demon in a human body, and we have no idea where it is or it's abilities.

You should post more pics to support your textual illustrations imho. Nothing wrong with your writing though, it's just that walls of text get a bit boring sometimes.

finding the pictures to go with the quest is difficult, but I will endeavor to try. I do welcome participants to draw and such if they wish too for this quest.

>[4] go to the governor and reveal that you are actually an inquisitor and tell him he passed a test of some sort then ask for his help in finding the chaos taint, aka is still alive brother
I think being to the point is important he has probably already read one of our minds(probably the orcs and knows who we are) so being straight with him should be a priority

also I'm pausing for tonight, I need to sleep. I cant be back until Friday so if the archive hammer hits I will put the link to the next threat on the doc, discord, and twitter (wow I let that thing gather dust haven't I) and it will be at 5pm pst which means 7pm cst and 8pm est. I also will have art that I will attach to the Doc so you can laugh and enjoy my abysmal drawing skills. I also will have descriptions made for characters I have yet to draw. see you then

top of the quest my friend, always put it there and it has all the important links

Alright we are going to require some answers, you dont just leave a grave alone when it's family. that Governor must have know of this and just did not tell us. "we are going to have a friendly talk with the governor."

"so your going to hit him." Phe'nia responds hopping up from the sitting position she had taken

"if he pushes me, yes."

"negotiations are not your strong suit."

you and your group rush to the governor's house, not in the best of moods you have Akkaz slam the door open "GOVERNOR DEVKAN WE NEED TO TALK!"

the governor rushes out to the front with at least eighteen guards "WHAT IN THE NAME OF THE HOLY EMPEROR ARE YOU DOING!"

"GETTING ANSWERS, THAT GRAVE WAS EMPTY."

"mind stopping the yelling" phe'nia sighs holding her ears

"WHAAAAAG!!" Akkaz roars causing three of the guards to drop their guns

you think of letting the Ork do his thing but you let it pass "Alright you better have a good reason for your brother's grave being empty."

"someone must have dug up the body."

"not buying it, the earth was not moved"

"I do not answer to you, now either you leave or I have my men turn you into mulch for my garden."

your brow furrows and your hands clench, this fucker had the audacity to hide something from you?! he is going to know the cost of his deceit. "Akkaz, do it."

not even skipping a beat the big Ork bellows "WAAAAAAGH!" and charges the men, the ones that dropped their guns run like hell while the rest desperately try to stop the Ork with lasguns. poor bastards.

the governor immediately pulls out a bolter only to have it slammed out of his hand with a crunch as his hand it broken by the hammer he howls in pain and drops to his knees. Akkaz continues with his assault crushing the guard with his hammer, he does receve some wounds from his assault (-5 wounds) but nothing that would stop an Ork.

A minute later the room is quiet aside form the ork's breathing and the governor grunting in pain as he resets the bones in his hand, wow tough man.

you walk up to the man and grab his hand causing him to hiss in pain but stare at you with unfettered rage "Now then you will tell me everything about that grave and what happened in the fight."

"you can go fuck yourself Rogue Trader, I will have you burned at the stake for this."

"wrong answer." you state and break the only finger that was not broken "now answer my question or I will move on from the hand."

the governor refuses to make a sound when you break his finger but his face becomes purple with rage "YOU. WILL. PAY. FOR. THIS." he grunts out

>[1] ask him again, give him a chance before you continue with the bone breaking (fel)

you let go of the man's arm and drag a chair over to him, you spin it around and sit. as you do so you pull out the Rosette and smile.

The Governor's eyes widen and his face goes pale "impossible"

your smile only deepens, thankfully Phe'nia gets the message and puts her hand out to start reading his mind.

the governor starts shaking "y-your an Inquisitor!? why?! I have done nothing wrong!"

you continue to say nothing just dangling the Rosette in front of him, you look up at Phe'nia and she nods. seems she got something.

Phe'nia walks over to the governor and pulls him to his feet "Now then governor mind explaining why you failed to remember the fact that it was not a duel that killed your brother, you had seven leman russ tanks take him on and the fact you knew the grave was empty?"

"I was forbidden by my father's last wish to talk of what happened to my brother. it is as your companion says my brother became something that no mortal could hope to fight. In the end I could only force him to retreat into a portal to emperor knows where."

>[1] "your father's wishes could have endangered your entire planet, you have the responsibility to this planet's people and the imperium to protect this planet from chaos"

You didn't hide the truth from me for that reason though, you did it because of fear, fear for your own life. You know what happens to those who dabble in chaos...and you you've being aiding them by hiding this information...what is an Inquisitor to do with such a man? (Lean forward resting out chin on our hand)...I should simply execute you here and now, purge your family and anything vaguely close to you...but I offer you a respite...what is an inquisitor to do?

You sigh at the Governor he was a honest and honorable man, but that nearly doomed his planet. "your father's wishes could have endangered your entire planet, you have the responsibility to this planet's people and the imperium to protect this planet from chaos"

"I cannot just leave is last wishes to rot! he was my father!"

"I understand your reasoning Governor I should not have come to you with deceit but that does not change my mission, I must know everything"

the man bows his head giving in to your demand. you cant help but smile a bit, its a bit fun when you hold the cards.

"what do you want to know."

"alright I want to know of any reports of cultists of chaos in the area, I mean any."

"only minor ones, usually in the lower districts. A foolish place to start an uprising, we could flood those tunnels with promethium at any moment if we wanted too"

"never underestimate these monsters governor, they have tricks up their sleeves at all times."

the man nods "I will have my men drop you off at the most recent sighting, well what is left of them"

"now then second question, what did your bother do that required tanks to take care of?"

the man covers his face with his good hand "lots of bugs and rot. he stank to the point that people would vomit and pass out by getting near him. His body was bloated and green with organs hanging out. anything less than tank shells would only get him to laugh. he was a nightmare to fight."

well that sounds really fucking bad, usually bullets are your go to for problems but this seems to require a different touch.
