New players are always welcome!

In this quest you assume the role of an aspiring student who is about to enter the Mageknight Academy. You must hone your skills, make some friends (and perhaps also some enemies) and fight battles in order to prove yourself worthy of graduating as a fully fledged Mageknight! Each year (every 100th turn) your character will be tested by the academy to see if your character is progressing well and meeting the Academy's high standards. After the 3rd year your character will head off into a their first mission for a final test.

How to Join:
New players must fill out their character sheets. The sheet must include the following information:
>Anyone can join at any time. Latecomers and laggers are given bonus action points to catch up with the other players.
1) Your character's full name
2) Your character's backstory, appearance and any other useful information.
3) You are given 3 Skill Points. Choose 1 starting spell and 2 other skills or spells.

How to Play:
1) Each turn you will be given 2 [Action Points]. Post your character sheet and your chosen actions along with a 2d100 roll.
>Normally your roll must pass the [Difficulty Challenge] of 25 in order to succeed.
>Getting a 10 and below is a [Critical Failure] while 91 and above is a [Critical Success]
2) All players must wait for the "TURN GO" post before submitting any actions posts. After which you must post your actions only to that post.
3) After all actions are processed and a new turn begins, update your character sheet.

Acquiring and Improving Spells & Skills:
1) Study, research, explore, train or take classes to discover and learn new spells.
2) Training an already learned spell or skill will raise it further to the next tier once enough [Progress Points] are accumulated.
4) The progress threshold is based on the Fibonacci sequence (1,2,3,5,8,...)
>Usually Spell and Skill tiers are named as Basic => Intermediate => Advanced => Expert => Master
>Alternatively you can label the tiers as T1, T2, T3 and so on.

Spellcrafting:
Spellcrafting involves fusing spells with various skills, knowledge and even other spells that your character has learned together creating a new spell or skill.
>The name of the resulting new spell will be determined by the QM. By default it will be "Cast A B C..."
>Your dice roll will affect the result of the spellcrafting. Lower rolls will result in weaker or negative version of the intended spell and vice versa.

Social Interactions:
1) Role playing with other players is a free action. Role playing with NPCs, however, will cost an action point to do so.
2) Collaborative Player-to-Player actions like trading, tutoring and PvP, will cost an action point to do so.

Combat:
1) Post 2 actions like you normally would. Your opponent will roll their own 2 actions.
2) To defeat your opponent, you must overcome their defensive or evasion roll and vice versa
>If you have not rolled an evasion or defensive roll then your opponent must pass normal DC to hit you and vice versa.
>If both combatants attacked successfully then it's a Double KO.
>If both combatants defended successfully then it's a Stalemate.

[===Academy News===]
In current news, the Grimwoods threat continues to necessitate regular patrols to ensure the safety of the Academy as well as the greater Madrid community at large. The Principal's Administration previously reestablished [The Watch] as a precautionary measure. But is it enough? Most recently some Second Year students have taken it upon themselves to travel to the [Grimwoods Outpost] in order to tackle the threat where it spreads. Arguably the lost of diplomatic relationship with the Deertaur has hindered investigation of the source of the [Grimwoods Corruption]. Would they not know better what plagues their home? For First Year students and all others this is a reminder that the Curfew of 10:30 PM is still in effect. Please sign in with your Residential Assistants, so that we know you are safe.

>Principal Hernandez has reestablished the old school organization, [The Watch]. You may sign up in order to help patrol the school, and see whether any problems are arising. However, being a member of [The Watch] requires that one spend at least one action every other turn to patrol the school, at little to no personal benefit. Every three actions of patrolling the school will earn the student a League Point, up until the cap of 9. A tenth League Point may be earned by finding something particularly important, or putting down a major threat. Missing one of these actions results in probation from [The Watch]. Missing two will result in being kicked from [The Watch].

In other news, students have witnessed a strange arrangements of the Gargoyles atop of Academy buildings. The stone guardians have been seen across the campus perched on the Library. It is known that the Holy Order commissioned the creation and placement of these stone guardians. So we asked the attending priest whose roof is the creation's original perch to help us understand. In response, "Please do not be too overly concerned, unless you are a roofer, haha. These what you might call Gargoyles, or Golems, will not harm anyone. We allow them to roam the campus every do often so that their mobility is tested. And so that if there are problems, we may restore that mobility."

Tonight Vlad is using a medical auditorium within the Academy clinic. He explains that tonight and for the next few weeks he will be working double duty as the on call night shift. “Protege if you really wish to learn from me you too will have to assist me.” Vlad rolls over to a number of different electrical equipment and mythical alchemical components and burners.

“We will need the Ethylenediaminetetraacetic and the thaumtical iron. And please set the centrifuge on stand by” Vlad leaves the room while you hunt for the alchemical materials. He comes back wheeling in a gurney. On the bed, robes cover a silent and lovely figure “Protege Faust, this is Kiru, our Patient, and a very old friend of mine.” Kiru does not stir. “We will be doing some blood work, along with some additional tests both mundane and mythical”

Spreading out the Needles Vlad walks you through the use and caution of Ethylenediaminetetraacetic. You begin the procedure of drawing blood and applying Ethylenediaminetetraacetic to the test samples.

A loud CRACK is heard from the Front. “VLAD you Kure! When last we met you swore swore to heaven and hells to never make a move on her” Three men storms the room. One with a receding hairline and carrying many pouches and scrolls. A man in red robes, wielding a cross sword brandishes his weapon thusly. And finally what looks like a mildly mannered clerk with a three day weekend walks in with a coffee mug. The distraction is not much, but just enough to jostle the continents you are measuring causing the Ethylenediaminetetraacetic to splash onto the thaumtical needles. The Ethylenediaminetetraacetic mix catches your mask, neck. And a number of measuring gems causing some sizzling from somewhere.

He kicks the staff in half and he falls to the floor. On the floor there are bodies and blood. You are covered in a slick metallic tasting substance.

“Ruined Everything Ruined” his usually regal suit and slacks are torn and shredded. His strut is pained but focused. “You, you, that stupid mask, and that Ethylenediaminetetraacetic.” He brings his clawed hand and grabs what’s left of your scrubs. The morning light of the sun is seeping through the upper level windows.

There is a measuring gem in his other claw. It is burning and boiling his skin leaving barron bone claws. “Everything I have tried, years of research, love drained, and forsaken. And it’ll only work for You.”

Using his bone claw as a scalpel, your ribcage is cracked and the measuring gem is shoved into your heart chamber. And then It beats. Vlad throws you aways from himself into the Sunlight. It does not burn. You still feel a shadow in the pit of your heart, but no pain. Looking back into the shadows You can see Vlad picking up a limb form and spiriting it deeper into the building.

You feel just a bit lost and confused, but over the next few days, which you can finally enjoy. But at night you also feel the draw of the inner darkness. The seal weakens and you realize you are not completely separated from the undead curse.

With your telescope you cast your gaze to the heavenly bodies towards the Galilean moons, the satellites that orbit Jupiter. The link between Angels and the planets could trace back to an renaissance idea that these beings controlled the movement of everything in the universe. Or the ancient idea that planets themselves can portrait disaster and that divination can only come from the antagonist. Some class the House of Celestials that commanded the orbits of Planets as well as the flow of Time as Nibiru. Looking through the telescope again, you mind boggles at how anything so far away and just plain massive could be guided across the night sky.

Setting up the listening radio and calling out, you hear nothing but static when you play the tape back. Repeating the call continues to produce no results, besides an eerie feeling of something wrong. A terrifying idea creeps into your head. Between yourself and the wide universe, cosmic in nature, your voice may travel into the air and never reach anything past the lights of the Madrid cityscape. But past the lights you can see below and the lights you can see above, there is an unquantifiable distance and anything could be listening. Setting aside what you may believe and the miracles you've created, the possibilities of different benevolent or malevolent intelligences intercepting your ping and responding are both incredible likely and incredibly unlikely.

Above your head, a black shape flies, flapping its tenebrous wings which make no sound at all, only to land atop an adjacent building. It's massive, somewhere around three meters tall and staring at you. The only reason you can assume its stare is because of the glowing red eyes set into its head. It doesn't move, it doesn't make a sound. Whatever light source you brought with you is flicked off. And the static from your radio shrieks to life deafening you with its ear splitting crackle. In the enveloping darkness, you are blind and particularly deafen. Suzy stumbles a bit onto the flush grass of the clearing. In a low hushed voice she utters "oh wings." Her eyes dilate untill they're saucers, trying to adjust to the darkness and to the amazement of this darken spirit? Star? Black Hole? A localized blackhole? Suzy decides that is as close to an actual explanation as anything else. Physically it's Gravitation could be distorting electrical signals. While stealing the light from it's immediate area.

Calling half into the radio half to the darkness "Yes that be me Suz. What be yourself?" Suzy is not yet ready to give the black hole in space her full name. She has heard stories. The story goes that if you give an evil spirit your full name from your own lips, it acts as conduit of power for them to control and influence the summoner.

The armature astronomer quickly scrambles to change the arrangement of the astronomy telescope into an Invoker's call stand. She takes an [Occult board] from her pack and places it between her and the blackhole. "I warn you I am not without Arcane might. I would not be an easy meal should you choose" Fluttering her YoYo before places that onto the Occult board. All of this a show courage rather than with any real strength to back up such a claim.

Finally with one last motion she flicks a vial from her pocket, inside a small Fluoride sample clinks off the glass. "Be you Lailah Protector this fluorospar shall be quicken and an ultraviolet light shall spill forth"

The girl reholsters her weapon while listening to Arthur's questions. Jozin can tell she received his telepathic message, as she gave him pretty scary look, before refocusing on the blond knight.
"Y'all haven't heard about the cultists ? Freaky hooded guys, mumbling unintelligible stuff. They've been quite active 'round these aprts, stealing livestock. She seems trustworthy enough, and none of you find any reason to doubt her. She then escorts to the village, whistling while you walk. The villagers welcome you, and the bus driver is carried to the doctor's office. One of the inhabitants recognizes Arthur as the Belrose's son. He mentions that he hasn't heard from his parents in a while, but then again, it isn't that uncommon for them to stay off the grid for extended periods of time, as they're quite self sufficient.

Taking a more relaxed position he responses, "Around here in the Outpost, it's pretty bare bones survival but livable. This place has cycles of lots of activity whenever we receive patrols or resupplies, and then just long periods of boredom. The food is… well it's nothing to write home about, Friday's are rubber steak night. They try to make the ground beef into something you'd find in a restaurant. But the taste and texture dissuade you from that idea real fast. Myself personally, I've driven around the local area in the Walker. Some parts of the area, like Black Hill Woods will change on you based on old powerful obfuscation magics, which gave me some ideas to improve the Wards."

"As for 'action,' I haven't seen anything. But I've definitely heard stuff. Late at night, you hear them in the darkness. It's like something between the howl of wolves, and the scream of wild-men. As you place your hand upon the blackened and oozing tree, and you speak the language of the Fey, you feel an immense power welling up inside of you. It surges down your arm, and into the tree, and an intense light begins to shine in the wood, blinding you and everyone else for a few moments.

When the light fades away, the tree and the grass around it are all vibrantly green, practically glowing with life, in stark contrast to the gloomy darkness of the woods and the pouring rain from the dark skies above. It's like a vibrant piece of what had once been, the last piece of shining hope in the Grimwoods. You feel your Grimwood taint fade away.

Colonel Aldana whistles. "Now, that. That's impressive. You guys certainly aren't your normal bunch of kids." He draws his sword. "The only thing is, you probably just aggravated every shitty deertaur in the area. You kids should probably get inside. I'll protect you all, with my life, if I must."

You aren't done quite yet, though. You sprinkle the ashes of the flower upon the trunk of the tree you just purified. Again, a bright light covers the area, and when you can see again, the tree has twisted itself into some sort of gate.

Fey soldiers begin to march out of the gate. These seem taller than the average fey, around five feet tall, if you had to eyeball it. The last soldier to step out of the gate bows with a flourish before you. The gate closes behind him, and the tree reverts to its prior state. He seems more decorated than the other soldiers, with slightly fancier armor. "You have called upon the Court of Spring, and we have answered. Ambassador Maelthas sends his regards." The soldier stands up straight. "I am Captain Ailean, and my soldiers and I are here to serve you, my lady. My only regret is that we were not able to rally up more soldiers for the fight- my kin are in the midst of a war with the Council of Winter. However, the twenty men that are here are some of the highest trained in the land, that I can assure you. What are your orders?"

You can hear Colonel Aldana swearing in shock behind you.

The presence of the tenebrous figure continues to draw in every shred of light from the scene, ferrying it away into a vacuum never to grace this earthly plane again. The warmth of the season always seems to disappear, radiating away into the void. The incomprehensible blackness wraps around you like a constricting snake forcing the very air from your lungs, as even now it becomes harder and harder to simply breath. With that another burst of static erupts from the radio causing you to cover your ears and turn away. When the static stops, the light returns. You find yourself alone in the clearing.

In current news, the Grimwoods threat continues to necessitate regular patrols to ensure the safety of the Academy as well as the greater Madrid community at large. The Principal's Administration previously reestablished [The Watch] as a precautionary measure. But is it enough? You make your way down towards the Shadowy Hooded Hooved Figures. SHF. And yes they do appear to be vandals spray painting a message on the large art building. As you approach and rise your voice to them. Their cans drop and they turn towards you. Their faces and their hands are not purely human. Three of them stand before you. A reptilian face with viper fangs. An antlered head and snout face and finally a snub nose with elongated ears biting down hard with it’s bucktoothed Incisor on a carrot.

As you reach for your radio, the viper figure gives a hissing spit right at your hand. “Officer at tanbear requesting.” and then you drop the radio due to pain. “Givessss uss the keyssss” THe snake hisses. And you feel a hypnotic suggestion within its words. But it can not penetrate your practiced Mind.

“Sssooo be it” You find yourself locked into battle with these beasts. They thrash and slashed with their fangs antlers and claws. You defend yourself as much as you can. With each successful strike you feel the snake’s poison slip ever further into your system. After about five minutes of this heated close combat, You see the flashing light of the local campus car, and your fellow watch member arriving on the scene. The Hooved figures retreat into the night but not before leaving you with their message on the wall.

The dress is easy enough to replicate. Regen is a bit more difficult. It’s like asking a plant to grow a full season in an hour. Without a sizable bit of research it would be challenging to make large strides. But you make due enchanting and providing the plant suit with plenty of sun and water. You hear fertilizer helps plants grow that might be a place to start

Invocation is one of the most confused schools of magic, from the layman’s perspective. Is it Oath binding? Is it summoning? Is it calling fireballs? In truth it shares plenty with the other schools of magic, evocations and conjurations, but the problem is one of assocation and application. Some of the results may be the same but the methodology is completely different.

A few of the examples listed of Invocation practices; Supplication, prayer or spell. A form of possession. Self-identification with certain spirits. Command.

All religions in general use invoking prayers, liturgies, or hymns; see for example the mantras in Hinduism and Buddhism, the Egyptian Coming Out by Day (aka Book of the Dead), the Orphic Hymns and the many texts, still preserved, written in cuneiform characters on clay tablets, addressed to Shamash, Ishtar, and other deities. It is still dark as you leave the dorm. As you meet Danielle it turns out she is also an early morning person. As the sun rises you both practice your stretching routines. But she does tell you a bit about her friends and her schooling. And her general attitude is sunny and warm, until you tic her off or something. She is here at the academy focusing on Fire magic. You bond over the rising heat in this cold and tempe morning and into the fresh sunrise.

You mentally empty your thoughts of the material world and open them to the immaterial the reflection. The collected reflection of the people places objects forces ideas myth and other such nonsensical but necessary things of the world. And from that place there are faintest ticks. The piping of mana is still here. And you realize you have taken your first step into the immaterial spirit world. Venturing into the Grimwoods is an apprehensive proposition during the daylight hours. In the darkness even moreso. Roots and underbrush threaten to tangle your legs and bring you crashing to the ground. Every sound is amplified in the silentness and quietness. Far off in the distance you hear the howls and wails of beastial creatures completely alien to the natural world. Something between the howl of wolves and the yelps of barbarians. You come upon a scene of conflict and battle.

Whatever happened here, happened some time ago. You can see the already putrefying bodies of some antlered abominations. On the ground you may track a dozen charging long strides of the antlered creatures feet. The fallen leaves are still stained with their black ichor seemingly seeping out of their many wounds. The largest dead creature's eyes still stare at you from beyond death. The surrounding tree trunks have been gored by blade and claw alike. Taking exceptional care, you gather samples of the black ichor from the dead bodies, as well as the sap oozing out of the tree trunks.

Returning back home, you are reasonably assured that nobody's the wiser.

Now acutely aware of everybody wiping out magical effects left and right in preparation for the incoming charge of deertaur, Caiden calls out, "Tank." In order to better prepare himself to analyze the ooze, Nicholas decides to check out books on Alchemy and Transmutation from the library, as well as borrow [Anatomy of the Spirit] from Joachim, opting to study them out in the glorious golden rays of the daystar, whose presence fills him with a peaceful calm. Originally the Librarian points you towards the medical texts and supplements, but these aren’t exactly what you’re looking for. You take out tomb after tomb scanning the entries. You’re about to give up when you find a stack of loose papers in the back of one of the books. Initially panicking, you pick up the pages, but then realize they are not a part of the book. These pages are entitled Signs of the undead pulse. It goes over the medical definition of dead and how it is applied to the undead body. At the end it goes over the theory of how this creatures steal health or energy from the living to remain animated. Vampirism being a prime example of should a phenomenon. Via blood the vampire animates itself not just from the iron in the blood but from the latent vitality in it. You finally read that the thesis was written by one V. Dumitru about thirty years ago.

You seek the gardening club and soon you find yourself in the [Treehouse of Life]. On the way there, you even passed the supposed Plant Oasis but when passing by, you notice the walls covering the area. Getting closer to this tree, you start to feel how enormous it really is.Walking closer and closer, the land feels grassier and stones start to form that lead the way. Once you’re close enough. you look up to the tree and see the beautiful multi-colored leaves and the branches bearing fruits of all types and finally, after passing a few trees, you see a building engulfed by the roots of this tree wit a sign above ‘Gardening and Cooking Club’ written in nice handwritten cursive letters. The walls of the building looking to be stone covered in the roots and moss around. The door, you find to be an old classic looking circle shaped hobbit door. You approach the door and you knock and find yourself greeted with a ponytailed girl with retainers.

To start training the baby dragon, you need what it can and cannot do. You bring the young wyvern out and test him out by giving it some basic exercises. You talk to it and give it basic instructions to do. Sometimes the little thing doesn't listen and finds some random place to cough up some acid but as you talk to it more, it starts to understand and follow more often.

The first test, you tell it to run from point A to point B in the open grounds and sadly, As he starts running, you don’t even look at the timer and can tell that he isn’t the fastest with his short and stubby legs. The next thing you do is test his acid spit. You tell to hit certain things like a trash can and give him some distance to do it too. For awhile it has a difficult time understanding, but you show him yourself with your fire spit and he follows. You continue to do it and find that his acid as strong as it looks can’t break metal.. You continue on with the next exercise which is to test its flight capabilities. You start off and start conjure your dragon wings and flap up. The dragon copies you and really, it can’t flap enough to bring his body up. You try a different approach and bring the dragon up to the skies. As you fly carrying him, he reacts excitedly and soon copies you in posture as you glide through the skies above. Soon, you let go slightly and he’s doing it! He is soaring through the sky!. With a few more minutes, you realize he was gliding more and couldn't bring his body higher but you think it would be a great experience for him to feel the wind anyway.

After the flight, you feel exhausted and you and the baby dragon just sit down and relax. While this happens, you start to ask it questions and really, he can’t reply back but you ask him Yes or no questions as he nods looking you while curled around your leg. Soon you ask about its name and till now you’ve been calling it Black, Baby, or Dragon or some combination of it. You start giving it choices and you find something close and eventually named him “Vussora” which came from “Black” and “Baby” in draconic. He seems to not and respond it on the name.

Coming around during office hours, you spy the Professor rummaging around his desk for a coffee mug. He sets you down with a steaming mug and begins explaining his own exploration into solar energies. It seems that ambient sunlight is a popular idea as a source of energy, going back to the ancient civilizations of the fertile crescent. He takes a second to withdraw a two meter high staff with a crystallized stone at its cap. He demonstrates that if he placed the staff in a certain position as a precise time of day, then his lockbox would open. During the demonstration, the lockbox actually falls off the shelve and goes clattering to the floor. You eagerly help the Professor collect the scattered notes and photographs. You notice a much younger Adalbert Waffling standing next to a young woman and what seems to be the Principal of the Academy.

On the back of the photograph you read, "May the society last, 1989." Besides the photo you also spy an incredible diagram and design. It seems to be a amplifying and magnifying Mana collection and firing design centered around ambient mana sources. This must be the basis of the crystal staff the Professor just shared. There also seem to be variants of the diagram from the staff, to a wand, and even a firearm, along these designs don't seem to be as flushed out. The Professor explains that he'd move onto different projects and the spark to continue just wasn't there.

In answer to some of your specific questions, he explains that the potential for energy transmutation is endless, from the sound of a gunshot to an emotional outburst of anger. But to simplify it into a single theory he outlines it as such: Physical Forces, such as Kinetic, Light, Sound, Heat, Electricity, and Fire can be Transformed between each other with a minimal efficiency loss by first capturing the energy into a collector. After collecting these energies, you may instantly convert them between each other, or convert them into a Potential Energy Mana substance. Somewhat like an Mana Battery you can tap when you need that extra power.

There are more complex and power Physical Forces such as gravity, radiation, and even the weather(taken as a huge system rather than its individual components), but manipulating those forces takes more time and expertise, constituting a more dedicated study. The physical alchemy of changing the compositions of different substances and even the wholesale transmutation of metals. In this school of thought, transmutation of one metal to another can be effected by the rearrangement of its basic qualities. This change is mediated by a universal solvent. The philosopher's stone then is that universal solvent that allows these changes to take place.

This substance is an animating force within the universe, an unrefined soul with great unattained potential. The book seems to be a detailed analysis and lengthy thesis on the Seven Chakras. These 'chakras' are actually whirling, vortex-like points of energy in which mana circulates within our bodies. The book explains how you can think of chakras as invisible, rechargeable batteries aligned vertically along the spine. Flipping through the pages you settle on a passage describing the "Crown Chakra."

The Crown Chakra is the seventh chakra and it is located atop the skull and at the top of the spinal arrangement of Chakras. Energy within the system flows bidirectionally, but this is the point where the divine source of creation and the personal earthly sources intersect. By allowing access through this Chakra a person may experience the gift of unity and the understanding that everything is connected at a very fundamental level. On the dreadfully dark and rainy night, the three of you gather to subject your samples to various tests and come to a conclusion about what this taint could be. Unfortunately your are not scientific researchers as much as you would like to play one on TV. I mean seriously those CSI guys are the only thing that make microscopes sexy. You make due with some lab equipment and creating an outline of different tests you wish to perform. You soon discover that the Sap collected from the tree and Blood collected from the monsters have already decayed into identical substances. The specific organic material that would separate these two samples are gone. From these observations you can conclude that this black ichor infected both subjects and corrupted them in a similar process. The plant drawing up through its roots, and the former animal eating those plants. Simple, right?

The actual composition of this ichor is much like the consistency of maple syrup left at the bottom of a dish. Throwing a cracker into the dish, you watch as the ichor spreads itself evenly over the crack and seems to break it down. Watching the cracker break apart you can almost see it being dissolved as well. It does seem to be solvable within water, surprisingly enough. To your eyes it all but disappears until you notice a small thin layer of gunk stuck to the bottom of the dish. Moving onto the next test, you place a flower in the dish. The stem of the flower turns a coarse brown and the bright yellow petals grow and curl themselves, becoming a flytrap before your eyes. Exposure to mana at any of these stages seems to accelerate the procross of corruption. One of your final test is to cut the flower away from its stem and let it decay in a separate dish. Before long the second dish is full of a substance identical to the black ichor you started these experiments with.

Moving onto how the [Grimwood Monster Sap Samples] reacts to various energies. The three subjects you now have are: the [Pure Sample], the sample has you brought it into the lab; the [Dissolved Sample], the ichor within a dish of water; and the [Corrupted Sample], a small collection of flowers you've exposed the sample to. You find that subjected the [Corrupted Sample] to environments ideal for the flower causes the flower to grow much larger and into a much more gruesome state. With the [Dissolved Sample], freezing temperatures causes the sap to fall into the bottom of the dish effectively trapping in under the ice, supposedly to be thawed as soon as the temperature picked up. When exposed to higher boiling temperatures, the water evaporates into the air however the sticky sap stays within dish. Thank whatever divine power you prescribe, this thing isn't airborne.

The hours creep further into the early hours of the morning, whatever is pushing you through these tests, you're starting to peter out. One of you carelessly hangs their ear buds on the dish where you keep the samples. After returning with a refresher cup of coffee you notice that the flower has regained its natural color. You quickly realize that your ear buds is having a positive effect on the flower and a negative effect on the corruption. You very quickly cross out the small magnets or electrical power as the cause by running a powered magnet over the dish. No, it was the sound, NO, the music spilling out of the earbuds that caused this. You run a quick test by bringing out a speaker. A gentle melody pours out, a piano that sways with each beat and note. The effect is nearly instant as each one of the samples seems to fizzle into nothingness.

With a celebratory cheer you give each other highfives. With all the derivatives samples destroyed you decide to crank up the volume and blast the original sample with some Hard Rock and Roll. Which prompts it to explode violently destroying the radio with a loud BANG. Note for further tests, reacts violently to Hip-hop.

The men are happy to receive some improvements to their standard field equipment. Using the ice stone and earth combo you are both able to create a terrain that will hopefully funnel the attackers into the kill zone. The Ice will hold out for the day in the sun, and make these unpleasantly slippery as it melts. The pit traps are dug down ten feet with swampy water at the bottom. The stone called from a few short hill is enough to replace half the wooden fencing with solid stone. With these improvements in mind the general is able to sure up weaker points in the defense while stationing bow and rifle men in safe places.

You don’t see much of the fae after they arrive but you are reassured by their caption. They will be playing hit and run tactics against the corrupted along their supply lines. After suring up the defenders you all sling away into the forest searching for the source of corruption. Because Cadien has been in the area and thanks to his Tank’s Sensors. He is able to locate two points of interest as you are away. One appears to be a Lake with a river that runs through the forest and the other is an enlarged overgrown tree that overshadows the previous lake.

Chose which one to explore It is highly encouraged to stick together lest you run afoul of individual strike units or scouts.

As the group ventured into the lake, two areas were pointed out as strategic landmarks in their crusade. Both were near each other, yet held vastly different things. The tree probably held a Dryad of extraordinary power, or some other for m of nature spirit. And the lake would probably have nymphs in it as well. To her, the tree seemed to be the best option for their first strike for various reasons.

Your internal computer scans the area with bibs and ticks and clicks. The display starts with an overview of the area then begins drawing axis lines across the way. Nothing too out of the ordinary. until you get error messages. the wave signal of your scan is a little too small to read it. Expanding the signal distorts some of the finer details but the error messages drop and your screen is almost dominated by a high density mana sink in the area. The signal is unique with it's absence of readily identifiable traits. It's much like ahole in the bucket as you see the energy sink out and concentrated with in the Lake. The river seems slick seeming with some surface of oil. No matter how much the lake flows, it merely stagnates more. The Lake bed is low revealing dried out roots and small fishing poles caught within tree roots

The morning after, you find yourself in your dorm room with a light headache and some body pains. Somehow, you and Val made it back. You look over to her and she’s on her bed looking more lumpy than usual. You head to Vussora and pet him gently and he lets go and continues to sleep in the bed. As soon as Valerie is released, she jumps out of bed and you explain the situation as you both eat breakfast. “That explains the new floorboards. I’m fine with it as long as it does not eat my clothes again or burn through my stuff but are we even allowed to have pets in the dorm?”

Once you head to the roof of the dorm, you see two students observing, one kneeling down and talking as the other takes notes. You notice that the boulder you wanted is already close to the plant, which seems thicker and somewhat larger since you last saw it. With a map and related directions from the populous, you roughly make your way to the barron bits of land known as the earth elemental settlement. Your approach is rather uneventful until you are within their domain. Then you hear a rumbling and the world you stand on begins to violent shake. From side to side the sky turns into the ground and ground turns into the ceiling. Large stone blocks come whizzing past from behind you, narrowing missing your transport. As you right yourself you see the stones are now far off into the distance. You see a man with a broken cleft as he gets closer you realize he is a living rock person.

Much like Alchemy, Transmutation is a field of magic that deals with the change of matter from one form to another. Many aspects of Transmutation are simply a step up from Alchemy which deals with mixtures and solutions. The first few principals of changing matter is first the understanding of the inherent structure and properties of the alpha material, as well as the final destination material, this is called Comprehension. The next principle is Deconstruction. Magical energy in the form of mana must be directed into the alpha material until it is completely broken down. And finally the flow of energy must be directed to reform the material into the new shape desired, this is call Reconstruction.

The entire process is fraught with error prone processes if the magician flatters in a single step. Because of this, many mages design an elaborate set of sigils and runes in order to present the necessary components to reality without overly taxing their own minds. Traditionally these sigils and runes are arranged in a circle around the material to be transmuted. Besides the complexity that these Transmutation Circles can take to design and inscribe, the fundamentals laws of the universe, Equivalent Exchange and Conservation of Mass, have a massive impact on the process.

You read about Alkahest the hypothetical universal solvent, having the power to dissolve every other substance, including gold.

A potential problem involving alkahest is that, if it dissolves everything, then it cannot be placed into a container because it would dissolve the container. However, the alchemist Philalethes specifies that alkahest dissolves only composed material into their constituent, elemental parts; hence, a hypothetical container made of a pure element (say, soil) would not be dissolved by alkahest. The old remark "spit is the universal solvent" satirizes the idea, suggesting that instead of a solvent that would easily dissolve anything, the only "real" solvent to anything is a great deal of hard work. In modern times, water is sometimes called the universal solvent as well, because it can dissolve a large variety of substances, due to its chemical polarity and amphoterism.

At first it's a bit intimidating speaking to the vaulted Student Council. In a vast room nearly completely dark with the exception of orbs suspended over each robed figure, you outline the work that you've already done. One hooded figure is quick to point out that by your own emission you have wandered into the Forbidden Forest off campus putting yourself in danger and in violation of the Academy's stated rules. This voice is waved off by another hooded figure, which you can see is Stephan Rice.

Stephan Rice you have seen before during your first few days on campus, he was the dark haired cutie, totally a cutie, not a beefcake but you could eat him up in anycase. He ends the performance piece of these vaulted proceedings by asking for the lights and lifting his hood from his head. With the hoods removed you can see the ever so dreamy pale blue eyes that you could drown yourself in… Moving on. You know that Stephan Rice is also the Secretary of the Council with his eyes on the President position in the upcoming election.

At the Secretary's instruction you continue your presentation explaining the conclusions of your study. Some eye your presentation with interest, others disbelief, but at the end they thank you for handing over the study and all agree to overlook the indiscretion of yourself or anyone that helped you in this mad quest. On the spot they start commissioning an action group based on your findings called, [Musical Grimwood Taint Deterrent] with you as an advising head but not the lead student since you are still a First Year Student. The dreamy Secretary is appointed to lead the action group with you directly beneath him.

Thanks to the prescription you feel a lot less sluggish. You brain maybe a little bit more fuzzy than you expected but it isn't a great distraction. Reading comics, watching TV, playing Video Games, it's so nice to not be walking down dark streets on the off chance you'll be called to action.
