In late 782, Stannislov passed legislation overhauling the selection process for Ogrelords, allowing him to nominate his successor directly, assuming the shamans approve of his decision, and three weeks later, he died and was succeeded by his nephew, Grobo. Grobo is part giant and those traits seem to be dominant in him. He studied at the University of Altona and excelled even by human standards in the arts, sciences, and most importantly, diplomacy. With these gifts, hopefully he can finish the work his uncle started late in his life

We've supported the mechanization of farming in our Kingdom. This will surely help production, but will also likely put a lot of farm labourers out of work.

If international finance Halfingery in and outside Roggar should succeed in once again plunging the factions into a civil war, then the result will not be the victory of Halfingery, but rather the annihilation of the Halfing race in Roggar! We see clearly that this war could only end with the extermination of the Roggarian peoples, or that Halfingery must disappear from Roggar. I already said it to our empress in the HPE Senate...that this civil war will not end the way the Halfings have foreseen it, namely that the Roggarian humans peoples will be exterminated; rather the result of this war will be the annihilation of Halfingery. For once all the others will not bleed to death alone; for once the ancient Halfing law will come into play: an eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth. The Anarvarkist monster, to which they want to deliver the HPE nations, will someday tear them and their people to pieces. The halfing will not however exterminate the Roggarian peoples, rather they will be the victim of their own plot. I have also left no doubt that, if the nations of the world are again to be regarded as mere shares to be bought and sold by those international money and finance conspirators, then that race, Halfingery, which is the real guilty party in this murderous struggle, will be saddled with the responsibility. I also made it clear that this time, not only would millions of children of Roggarian Humans will starve, not only would millions of grown men meet their death, and not only would millions of women and children be burned or bombed to death in the cities, but that the real culprit would atone for his guilt, even if by more humane means.

"Fuck it, me and my boys are down for a bit of more adventuring."
Experienced sea captain and merchant turned adventurer extraordinaire, Jack Sarrows shall head the Naytian expedition! His boys expanded to 5 Knights, their retinue of men-at-arms, 4 high level Mages of Lightning (training prevoisly payed for), that tired female combat medic and her protégé, and 3- I mean, 5 scholarly scouts(two of them look like the walking dead, by the Gods). Going to mostly be playing as these lads.

600 aspiring colonists (recently rendered homeless by the Mega-quake) embark (hesitantly) to these new lands. Farmers, fishermen, and woodcutters mostly, with some higher skilled folk sprinkled around here and there (doctors, blacksmiths, shipwrights, merchantmen, some wise men, that sort of stuff), former soldiers payed to protect the colonists, experienced sailors from the expedition (if they wish to be wooed by the women here), 'reformed' criminals pardoned by the Steward and a couple of aspiring Naytian noble bra- young men. Administration of these colonists shall be handled by Jon of the Dragon Guard, nephew of the current Duke of Nayte, who help out in administration before volunteering for this glorious (and most likely lethal) adventure. You either go big and go home, and I'm sure everyone's gonna be alright.

The ships were sent to scout around the island's coasts.
It seems the shores are protected by hills and mountains from all sides - hard, but not impossible to traverse. You headed directly west-northwest from the camp by land, through the hills, finding a valley protected on all sides by high rises - the valley itself is full of life, with a small lake, plentiful vegetation and moderate amounts of wildlife - sizewise it's not too big of a valley, though - it could hold a village or small town at most.

You move into the valley, leaving some people to guard the ships.
The weather's good, there's no dangerous animals, the soil looks to be fit for agriculture. You'll have to clear a lot of the forest for that, of course, but you set up near some clearings around the lake to begin with.
The water's fine and there's also likely smaller sources in the hills and mountains as well.

Before we venture inwards - should we give the valley a name first since we're a bunch of idiots or wait until we've explored the rest of this island?

We spent the 15th setting up in the valley.
On the next day we ventured beyond it, towards the interior of the island.
Upon climbing to the other side of the mountains and beginning our descent, we could feel it - extremely powerful winds, blowing chaotically and with almost no end to them. We took shelter in caves and when the winds stopped we regrouped and continued, but the pause did not last longer than 3 minutes.
After two days of exploring we managed to get a rough idea of what the interior looks like.
These unnatural winds are so powerful that on most of the island nothing grows and nothing lives - it's just not habitable to stay there for long. The mountains seem to stop these winds from reaching the shores. The valley our colonists have set up seems to be the only big safe zone - a few smaller ones can be found scattered in the interior, none of them reaching a square kilometer in size, though they are otherwise somewhat similar to the larger safe valley.
At the island's center rises a volcano - massive in size, bigger than any other fiery mountain we'd ever seen, it goes above the cloud level, infact - we can't even tell how tall it is exactly.

The explorers return to the colonists on the 18th.

Assume that all non-named people characters perished during the climb.
After three days, when your supplies are running low, you finally reach the summit. From there you can barely see the rest of the island below you most of the time, because of the clouds.

They tell us that they worship "The Great Spirit", a mighty being that protects their people so long as they protect the volcano. Indeed, they appear to posses powerful wind magic themselves, these digushen. They say that it is the Spirit that creates the powerful winds on this island. When we share with them of our colony, some seem concerned. We are escorted to the lake where we are able to fill up our water supplies and are then allowed to pick some fruit - blueberries, they are tasty and oddly nutritious given their size.
After they consulted with their elders, they bring us their message - we may colonise the safe valley to the east, but must agree to not disturb the holy volcano in any way or to expand into the island either. They ask that no magic other than wind magic is practiced on this island either. As we were making our way inlands, an earthquake caused a landslide that reached our camp, killing several people - one especially large boulder smashed into a carrack.
When the earthquake was over, the very terrain had shifted - new hills had appeared, old ones had sank underwater.
The explorers came back after a few hours. This island's terrain seems to follow no real pattern - if these earthquakes are regular, they might be causing constant shifts. There's little vegetation - what trees we found are very oddly shaped indeed and wildlife consists mostly of small animals and birds. The explorers noticed taller mountains spiring up in the center of the island.

Climbing up, you began to feel you were being watched. What's worse, almost everyone was now sick, with the exception of Captain Malaric, Jack Sarrows and Councilor Godric.
The suspicion is all but confirmed - among the trees you sometimes hear footsteps, the flutter of wings, cawing.
As you continue along the narrow, clear path upwards, you are confronted by a stranger. He wears red robes, but has a figure mostly resembling a humanoid, though you notice his fingers are long and end with sharp claws. His face is covered by an ornate mask adorned with feathers.
He looks you over with interest and then proceeds to speak in some strange gibberish of a tongue. Seeing that you can't understand you, he speaks in Sauri, with an odd accent.
"You are strangers to this land - tell your names and reasons."

You find that just about everyone by now is sick and around a hundred people have died despite the best care - magical and mundane - that the physicians have been attempting to provide.

Corvus asks that he first meet the leaders of the expedition.

"I must know what you plan with these lands. You come from the east - from Setyrias, yes?

The storm hit us hard - perhaps a third or more of our ships were completely lost, almost none escaped without taking damage.

Ser Gore Grass-Fed returns to the village, where the rest of the expedition have set up, carrying all the water and fruits he managed to find, along with a few companions. Among them is one stranger - someone they met while on the hunt.
Judging by his equipment, this man is a knight, wearing plate armor on top of a chainmail, an axe in one hand and a shield in the other. He is somewhat shorter than the goblin knight and his features are...well, to describe him simply, he is a "duck-man".
He introduces himself in fluent Selaveni elvish as "Sir Pontok Hulmomon", a travelling knight of Avorei - by chance he was passing through this area when he saw our foraging party.

"I am a Knight of Dahunreis, the capital of the Dahuntoki Kingdom - the Dahuntoki are my people, one of several peoples that inhabit The Empire of Avorei. All its peoples are broadly known as "Avori". We've had some trade with elves of both Selaven and the Dominion, which is why I am able to speak to you here. I myself was headed to Dahunreis when I crossed paths with Ser Grass-Fed. I lost my mount on the way, which is why I'm forced to travel on foot - I see you have arived on these shores with ships of your own and if you wish, I could show you how to reach the capital. "Our continent is of a size roughly comparable to Setyrias, or at least that's what the maps I have seen have led me to believe. The Avori are the dominant race on this continent, we are split into several breeds. The most prominent, each having a nation of their own, are the :
>Corvoni - crowmen
>Buhowli - owlmen
>Safoloki - falconmen
>Orlaegi - eaglemen
>Dahuntok - duckmen

The Empire includes five nations on the continent. We were once separate and regularly at war, but eventually all became vassals of the Orlaegi King, who became Emperor, his descendants to this day ruling the Empire, although the nations have some autonomy.
We know the Pantheon, but our faith lies in the Great Light and its earthly aspects, the Dragons and Titans of Light. Our faith is not in conflict with the Pantheon, we recognize them as Rulers of the Realm of Light and they've recognized us - in a way.

There's not enough room in the harbor for all our ships, so they take turns in heading there for repairs, with a constant flow of boats to and from. The Dahuntoki have a varied diet that is rich in fish and seafoods. They can eat meat, but don't drink milk or consume most known dairy products, because of which they have fewer herds of cattle and sheep. They keep large insect and worm-like animals, though - beetles and spiders, for instance. They keep pigs of varying breeds, some closer to boars. It seems it doesn't bother them to keep a wide variety of birds as well, which they use for meat, eggs and feathers.
As land mounts the duckmen use beetles and boars. The duckmen are capable on water, being able to swim more or less the same way normal ducks can.

You decide to spend the day in the harbor and market districts. You find many exotic goods here, while also determining that there are goods the locals lack that you have in Roggar. Staple crops in these lands seem to be "maize", also known as corn, while the "potato" is more popular in colder areas in the Empire. The duckmen eat a lot of fruits and nuts - strawberries, peanuts, pumpkins, cashew. You find goods from the southern parts of the continent such as the avocado, cocoa, vanilla, papaya. In these lands a different kind of cotton is cultivated, a long-staple species. The seeds of the "sunflower", a widely-cultivated plant, are also very useful, they tell us.
The Karamori isles seem to be major producers of exotic crops such as sugar cane, a source of the "sweet salt" - over the years some Roggarians have come into contact with sugar, brought from the southeast, but here it seems to be more widespread. It appears there's many places in which breeds of smokeleaf are cultivated.

"Can you guess which one is the real me?" each of them says - and it sounds like three voices as well. Jack points to the one in the middle, after which he and the one to the right dissapear. The priest, on Jack's left, chuckles.

Clockwork technology, now being employed in golemancy, is yielding good results.
Roggar has pioneered the most advanced in golem behavior technology - the latest golems we are able to produce are almost intelligent, having limited learning capabilities within certain parameters. They are able to perform wide arrays of tasks, whether combat-related or not. Some researchers believe we've hit the peak of golem behavioral capabilities, others believe there could be ways to go beyond.

Faction Project:
Training for my feudal forces

It is of vital importance to Trusted Defense that our feudal contigents will be able to assist our regular forces effectively on the battlefield.
Our knights will be given additional instruction in tactics and strategy by the Councilors, granting them better theoretical knowledge at command in addition to their skills as heavy cavalry.
Our men at arms shall be drilled in horse archery and similar light cavalry tactics.
Our militiamen shall be further drilled in the use of the pike and similar weapons. Their villages will all have decent stockpiles of weaponry and the chiefs shall be offered a (basic) education in strategy and tactics.

Council Project:
Fight corruption inside the legal system

To ensure the efficiency and uncorrupt nature of our courts, the Master of Law will take a twofold approach.
The salary of our judges and their attendants will be raised, but this will be accompanied with a strict regime of paperwork to ensure that all spending of government money and collected fines are dutifully reported. Furthermore anyone caught taking advantage of his dignified position of power will be deported to Flamkor to grow onions in the wasteland.

In the past years Gobbopolis has invested heavily in moving large amounts of Goblins into the holdings of Darkpass and the surrounding holdings of it’s vassals. These new villages would create growth within the Goblin population allowing new farms, new workshops and new industry of a variety of types to pop up all over the area. A large industry already started in the area by the Hawthornes being Cotton would surely see a huge influx of labour along with the mines gaining skilled laborers and better equipment.

Along with this investment a great cathedral of Ezadar would be risen near Darkpass named “The Roost”. This however would not just be a simple cathedral but also a breeding and training place for the newly acquired Pygmy Griffins from the High Elven Dominion, while not big enough for an elf or human to ride on these Pygmy Griifins were perfect size for Goblins!

Ah, that time again, is it? So absent minded these days; more and more workers seem to forget their place in the world, what with all the new machinery about. I could replace them like THAT, yet I am generous enough to keep them about, show them how to make their lives worth something. Ah... yes, yes, this is the one. The Lectres have been looking into a property rather close by our lands, Gregar's Keep I believe it's called, that seems to be lacking in men as of late - very little activity around and about. As such, we have been consulting the records of the land with the help of our dearest law-years and seeing if we might be able to take over the running of such a place. I expect the results will come through soon enough, or else I may need to load the Dragonstomper earlier this morning than I would have liked.

As for my project on behalf of the council, I will be approaching some of the dwarves of the east with a recent concept I conceived, some sweet words and, of course, my trusty crossbow negotiation squad. See, these carriageplanks, they have SO much more to them than I first thought - if we were to adapt two of them and place some sort of cart on top, why, any old mine could be come infinitely more precious simply in terms of raw efficiency. A few of those for the Lectres, a few for the dwarves, plus they throw in a few deals for whatever metals they might have... we could be rolling in coin by the end of the decade.

It's important that our people know their history. They need to know the tales of the Age of Heros, the time of Mutt Dragonfist to the start of the Second Civil War. When brave mortals stood against barbarians and dragons to fight for their Kingdom, their way of life, and their families.
We should make learning about the Age a mandatory part of Roggarian education.

Also, Jack Sarrow has decided to set up a mining colony in Vastia, to "start getting that gold river I found up to stuff". Nayte sends supplies and men to support his endeavor.

Council Project: Start the exploration, settlement and development of uncolonized land across the ocean (aka lands so dangerous and unstable that even madmen and idiots from other civilizations wouldn't settle there). Develop the "colonies" Roggar has now and see if the natives from other lands wouldn't mind Roggarian colonists settled in or near them (see if the Karamor Kingdom may be interested, I'm sure either the Republic of Ferhorn or Tribes of Tornomk would be).

The fortress of Darkpass holds an increbidly strategic location against the Caliphat. Thus the Duke of Gobbopolis would suggest strengthening it's defences with proper cannon emplacements and modern architecture. Another thought would be a temple of Stoman added to give warriors stationed there proper training and spiritual guidance in hard times. As this land is owned by Gobbopolis the Duchy would be willingly to cover half the expense for the good of the Kingdom.

We've modernised our main ranged forces - the crossbowmen - possibly reaching the apex of crossbow development. Crossbows can come in a variety of models - some are so small they can be used by assassins, others are so powerful they need to be mounted on walls or platforms to be operated, having strength almost equal to a balista. Materials, designs, mechanisms used are improved and repeater crossbow variants can also be found in Roggar now.

In non-military news: The Black Legion seems to still be alive - In Ondalia, the Duke of Tallgift, Zacharis Uigolm, was arrested on charges of conspiring against the Empress after evidence was presented to their Queen. Investigations are underway for other conspirators as rumors have wildly spread in the Holy Pantheonic Empire of cultists planning to take down the Empress. The fact that her reforms have been most beneficial to the lower and middle classes, among whom she is very popular, has resulted in the commoners becoming suspicious of the nobility, who they see as the cause of many problems they'd faced before, now overcome thanks to an Empress looking out for them. Indeed, Wave Petros' popularity among the wide masses is among the highest a Roggarian monarch - or ruler of the Empire - has seen.

The fortress of Darkpass holds an incredibly strategic location against the Caliphate.

The concept is simple enough.
It shall be the biggest ship in the entire known world, something that will awe all foreigners.
It shall be sturdy, capable of crossing the high seas if need be.
It shall be well protected, enough soldiers and guns to conquer a small nation. In this aspect it will certainly outdo the previous hulk as the Superboat was not much of a battleship.
And naturally, it shall be beautiful. Intricate carvings, golden decour, comfortable quarters, a small bath perhaps, hundreds of maidservants and halls where we can wine and dine together.

All in all, it will put the Superboat to shame, outdoing it in every aspect.
>>1452018
You'll have to take that up with the Admirality or Her Royal Highness I believe.
>>
>>1452033
Actually, concerning matters of funding and budgetary, you need to take it up with the Royal Steward.
>>
>>1452033
Councilor while your enthusiasm is admirable and this ship sounds like a grand design. We could afford to build a small fleet for the same price. Which would allow us to better defend the coastal settlements and trade routes instead.
>>
>>1452033
I would never willingly pay for such a boat unless it could feed it's own crew. The sheer mass of food it would take in at every port would cripple whoever is unfortunate enough to try and service the crews appetite, not to mention all the other things sailors need, or want.
>>

The Council, quickly reach the verdict that Lady Zhang Jie, the younger sister of Trusted Councilor Zhang, shall represent them at Lakton.
Highly educated, beautiful and a kind soul, she's the perfect representative to show the advanced culture of Trusted Defense. A knighted title is easily arranged, as are weaponry and a proper entourage of servants and squires.

If only she knew a little more than the absolute basics of lancing, archery and swordsmanship.... Hopefully Juras will smile upon her.

You approach the ancestral home of House Erden, Lakton. The city itself is located on the western bank of Lake Ulrich, surrounded by all sides with pastures and farms, while the city is the main trade center of the region as all the peasants and laborers meet there to exchange their goods. The advantageous location of the city allowed it to prosper and grow rich. As you come closer to the gates of the city, you happen to notice a smaller settlement beside it, it seems recently made and some of you find it very similar to how centaur towns look like - and indeed you see a great number of centaurs there. Some parts of the walls have some kind of insignia that those among you who have studied Roggarian history closely can recognize as the insignia of the Mercurials, a scholar group that has been destroyed back in the 3rd century. As you enter the city you notice it is bustling with people with traders and knights from all around the Holy Pantheonic Empire. If you wish to participate in the tournament you first must sign up to the events that you wish to participate in. The events being:
1.Champions Tournament
2.Normal melees
3.Magical Fights
4.Mixed martial fights
The Warm-up games will be fought with wooden swords, and will be an opportunity for young knights and squires to demonstrate their prowess.
[If you wish to participate in a event specify which ones and what character will be participating in them.]

As Wave is walking trough the streets with her family she is recognised by the common folk and they shower her with praise and with great cheers. When they notice the child in her hands they begin giving you many gifts, some old man gives you goat milk he claims is the best in the whole of Roggar, a merchant's woman approached her with a baby blanket that she used for all seven of the children and who all have turned out healthy and strong. Children flock her asking her if they can carry he, some of the young boys even asking her to marry them. She and her family have a great day enjoying the city.

You spend your time looking at all the sights that Lakton could offer you. You saw monuments dedicated to the Notajos, a clan now long gone. You saw great monuments to Volkmar and his son King Ottfried. You visited theatres of Lakton and caught glimpse of a puppet show depicting the second siege of Dominas and the fall of Anavrak. You were about to go and visit the site of Crows last stand when Duke Lothere went off to chase after some noble girl that had caught his attention. The Duke and Dragoncommander Belatat, where standing at the site of Crows last stand where now there are usually held plays about the event. And on the 28th of Stomnis, 795 AS, a tournament began in Lakton, in the heart of Roggar.

In the tournament ground, all important nobles stood tall, representing their countries in many cases with all the monarchs of the Empire and even the Empress herself in attendance. However, the big crowd felt small under the watchful eye of guards... indeed, there were many, both magical and physical. Many of you present had noticed them earlier, especially the Knights of Juras. Under their watchful eye, you felt safe, as the Duke began to speak, accompanied by his daughter, the stunning reward of the Champion's Tournament.

The first event of the tournament was the melee, with Drana priestesses from Centerhold on site in case of any unforeseeable accidents. On top of Drana priestesses, wizards, Charodei's devotees, were also present from the Lordship of the Northern Isles, set to check for cheating. Likewise, Kovag priests were there from Malkog and Everpeak for similar reasons.

What is undecided is whether or not the Roggarians will fight as a team in this melee - some nations have decided to do so, but not all. What say you?

A. Roggarians form a team
B. No team
C. Player teams decided by participants, not nation

The group is formed - the Empress herself, the Black Knight, Dragoncommander Belat, Napolin, Count Fastlegs, Ser Gerius, and Dedalo.

As you enter the field, you notice that there are several groups that seem to have formed immediately. Kraagnal and Ondalia are one example, while the lesser knights of several countries are another. Before long, you are beset upon by Paitrans - it seems like they were expecting you!

Some Naytian Knights and Lordling comes into the tourney ground, just barely able to make it. They were held up putting out an accidental fire in a bakery on the way here.

Out of these men, only one stands. A knight wearing mismatched armor under a black cloak, looking as if it's been thrown together in haste. His sigil, a laughing red demon on a field of black. What attracts attention the most is his sword, huge and unwieldily by any reasonable standards. Indeed, it looks more like a heap of metal than an actual sword.

A beep voice speaks. "Knight of the Laughing Demon."
A heap of metal.

While the Empress and Napolin struggle against the horde, they are overcome one by one. First the Dragoncommander, then Dedalon, then the Knight of the Laughing Demon.

At the sidelines, you can only welcome those coming back from the field in shame. After all, you were the first team to be knocked out. Slowly but surely a picture forms as the knights walk off of the field... the last 5 teams that remained by mid-melee were Ondalia and Kragnaal (having broken up after infighting) as the strongest contenders with Anglanorse following not so far behind. Selaven and Lursar moved on as well, but both suffered heavy casualties. In the end, the Ondalians faced off against the Anglanorse. Severely weakened, outnumbered, and outpowered by physique, the plucky halflings managed to knock the other team down to one contestant - but that contestant, a Ser Varg Paesbane, managed to pull off a comeback that will be talked about for years to come.

After the second day warm-up games, the day's thematic event are the magic fights! Having less participants than the other thematic fighting events, we hope it will still please the crowd!

On the main arena, eight teams have been deployed, each made up of two magicians - the first team is Nothos Andarak and Empress Wave Petros of Roggar - both of them are half-dwarf half-sea elf, the former having studied under the latter.
The second team has an interesting duo - two halfling Dukes, both age 61, worthy of being considered wizards - Duke Zaltoust Serebrin of Zaelaft and Duke Reasil Moudens of Meadowset.
Team three consists of two Paitran Dukes - old Vrilus Caezin of Ravlegith and Sabreux Stelran of Dorseel- a famous tournament-goer who has won multiple championships over the decades.
Team four are a pair of young, ambitious Selaveni noblemen - a twin brother and sister belonging to one of the more affluent Houses of that realm, Endiero and Abiela aren't seen as very likely to come on top due to their percieved lack of experienced.
Team five represent Kragnaal - two gnomish mages - the gnomes being the magical backbone of that eastern Kingdom, there's decent hopes for them - a married couple, Eugine and Viridia.
Team six are two Anglanorse mages - among the betters they seem to be the ones consider to have the lowest chance, as almost no one seems to have heard of them and their realm is considered "Less advanced" among the snobby magical elites. Their names are Sven and Harald, rather unassuming and common.
Team seven is an interesting pair - hailing from Lursar, a centaur and goblin duo - Burkan and Alakazoom, known as famed magical performers who have visited each of the Empire's Kingdoms - though not all are sure how well they'd handle the fight, they certainly have fans in the crowds!
Team eight represent the Dominion - two sisters, Esmeralda and Opala, they are dressed quite fancifuly and enter the arena with flare and grandeur.

It's a team free for all! Sixteen contestants enter the arena from different angles - only one or two will be deemed winners! Many mages are watching the fight, ready to stop in case somebody is at risk of serious injury or death.

The main judge, an elder Wizard and priest of Charodei, explains the rules to the combatants one last time - they enter the arena with no weapons or armor other than staves and wands made for casting, charged up to their full mana - they are given twenty seconds to prepare and when the signal is given, they may begin the free-for-all fight. Killing is forbidden, maiming will be heavily punished.

The magic fight begins!

The two Paitran dukes work well, but Sabreux, still rather mad at the incident that occured last night with the lizard puke seemed to not be as concentrated as he should've been.
The two young Selaveni evade the attacks of the Paitrans deftly and respond, teams 3 and 4 engaging in a 2v2 fight.
The two gnomes are knocked out by the equally short halflings, while Sven and Harald fight against Burkam and Alakazoom, only for them to be flanked by Esmeralda and Opala on one side and the halflings on the other - amid the chaos the Roggarian duo gets few hits in their direction - much to their luck, as their defences seem rather weak.

And 3 hours after the conclusion of the magic fights, it began. While the qualifiers for the Champion's tournament occurred yesterday, this is technically the first round. This is where, to use a wizard's turn of phrase, the magic happens.

First, let's lay out the rules:

1 point - hitting your opponent
2 points - hitting your opponent and breaking your lance
3 points - hitting your opponent, and knocking him off his horse

If one person has too large a lead by the second round, the match will end prematurely.

Matches had been ongoing during the magic fight, but the other 8 would begin now... starting with Alakazoom and Reinhard!

He's dressed entirely in black, face no longer hidden by a veil. Wearing brigandine, polearm in hand and falchion in belt.
The locals have jokingly nicknamed him Steve, not helping his cultivation of a mysterious image.

It's somewhat difficult to get an idea of everything that's going on at the same time with so many fighters - within the first two minutes, interesting things that occur are:
The centaurs charging at the dwarves, who formed a defensive formation and slammd their hammers on the ground, shattering the earth right underneath their enemies, tripping them down, after which they were "finished" off
The two roggarian teams encountered each other - in the confusion, team two stayed disciplined and cohesive, quickly wiping the floor with their fellow Roggarians in order to focus on harder enemies to come
The third and eight team faced each other - their Kings locked in single combat, with the young Charlion eventually being knocked out by a hammer blow to the side. The three other Paitrans took out two of the Norsemen quickly, which left Varg and Klovard left.
Team four(also Paitran) fought the fifth team, the Ondalan one - the Halflign King was fighting from inside a piloted golem and proved himself quite adept at using it, taking down two Paitrans before the rest of his team was dispatched and he got hit by a stray spell as well.
The ninth team, made of "the others" had no cohesion as the fighters could barely understand each other - they got quickly taken out by Team tow, with only the Akeshisu samurai geting away for the moment
The fight continues on - some teams have been wiped out entirely, others merely thinned out!

Teams switched targets as opponents were moving around - the two paitran teams faced off against each other - Aezoth Haulamth, the Duke of Hikalith, was taken out, but the mighty Sabreux disabled the other opponents against him.
The two remaining norsemen faced off against the samurai - though Varg was wounded, Klovard managed to knock the foreigner out with a powerful blow.

Team 2, from Roggar, faced the dwarven team - in the exchange that occured, Emir Ormandi was knocked out, but his comrades managed to take down two of the dwarves.

Now it's just four teams, nine combatants in total - Team 2 looks to stand the best chance of winning, with the unknown soldier from Virinum and Ser Arathas Menthel II having distinguished themselves the best so far, but they face worthy opponents as well!

The Paitrans and Norsemen continued their fight - in the end, even the great Sabreux could not withstand the Norseman's hammer.
Team Two kept fighting the dwarves, eventually taking them down, though Arathas took a wound. It's now Team Two versus Team Eight - three Roggarians versus two Norsemen! Klovard readies his hammer while Varg - his spear.

Klovard's hammer knocks Ghermand out, but he is then engaged by the warrior of Virinum - his strength seems freakish, almost unnatural and the Norse King is eventually overwhelmed.
However, he did not go down so quickly - he was able to take the Galvanni warrior's attention away long enough for Varg to manage to make several precise hits in the gaps of Arathas' armor - already wounded, the judge determined he could no longer fight.

The last fight was between Varg and the Galvanni warrior. Varg's equipment was inferior and he lacked the magical backup that his enemy had, but what he had over him was strategy and experience - he could see the places where Kovarg's hammer had hit the Galvanni. The final duel was furious, with Varg pushing himself to his absolute limit, taking several hits, one of them disabling his left arm - taking an axe out with his right, he lobbed it at the right moment, hitting the Galvanni in the left armpit, after which the norseman picked his spear up with one hand and with a final thrust managed to knock his enemy to the ground, spear still stuck in him - thankfully, not mortally so. The crowd explodes with cheers and applause as Varg wins a second melee. As the wounded get up, either on their own or with help, chants of "Varg!Varg!Varg!Varg!" are still not stopping.

And on the eve of the third day, the contestants of the tournament would be narrowed down once more. Where once there was 8, there would now be 2, or so Barnaby X declared. The official of the tournament, he made sure no magic was used, so much as the Kovag priest ensured no enchanted materials were.

And the list for the evening was such:

1 - Ardan Dorsi versus Baren Graned
2 - Bao Jian versus Senac Gelenden
3 - Marcus IVth versus Chang Qing
4 - Duke of Ellstelg versus Sir Zhang Jie
5 - Reinhard versus Yu Xia
6 - Cemal versus Trygve Olavsson
7 - Duke of Kasvoeg versus King of Anglanorse
8 - Arathas Menthel II passes due to opponent forfeit, citing health concerns.

The first round begins now, between Ardan Dorsi of Madrid, and Baren Grenad, of Selaven.

And the first round came to a draw boringly, with Dorsi taking the lightest of blows from Graned before falling off. Of course, Graned fell coming off his horse, but neither really were embarrassed - a good laugh was had by the crowd, and jeers were drowned out by cheers when Ardan offered Graned a hand up.

The second round was between Bao Jian and Senac Gelenden - neither of the two were well known, but then again, many of those here weren't. A surprising Midwestern Setyrian population was noted, with Akeshizu and Zhongi both having lasted to this round.

Another round, another sluggish result. The next one, however, was highly anticipated - the scholar Marcus against the tactician Chang Qing. Some say Chang Qing wrote the book on the proper art of war, but others still said that accomplishment was achieved by Ledevlast, although his teaching was lost. After all, how else could the North had triumphed over all of Northern Setyria for so long? Despite the bickering in the crowds, the two men strode forward in their horses, just happy to be there.

After the mixed melee, while the next stage of the jousting tournament was being prepared, Varg mysteriously vanished.
The attention of many spectators was drawn to a preacher who'd found a place to speak, drawing many looks. A female centaur, definately getting the "tribal" look right with the scant clothing and colorful accessories she displays.
She speaks in Roggarian, with a noticeable accent:
"People! We have all seen it! The earth has cracked, the seas have boiled, the winds have frozen, storms have raged. The dark moon has risen - soon the Sun shall stop! The End Times are near! We thought it would be a Second Storm, but nay! The time of the Storm is past, the time of the Dark is coming! Brother will fight brother, lands will sink, crowns will break and thrones shall split! The New Gods, from their seats in Heaven, will fall to the Earth! The Old Gods, from their prisons on this world, will rise up again! The time of reckoning draws near! When a century for each of the Old Ones has passed, the Prophecy will be fullfiled! We can not stop it! Only our ancestral ways can guide us to endure the trials we shall face!"
The prophetess speaks with passion, but not the traditional kind that most preachers have - hers seems to be one of earnest urgency, of honest concern - those who take the time to speak to her can definately tell that she has seen some strange things.
>>
>>1457805
Once again, a battle of the minds - in the end, Marcus topples from his horse, but he somehow firmly kept his lance in hand. He looks a bit shocked - some assume because of the loss, but those with sharper eyes know the truth. Qing had mouthed at the scholar "I love you" - a disarming tactic indeed. Sure, it could be blossoming love - but those who read Qing's book knew it as part of his philosophy of winning without fighting.

The next round was likewise highly anticipated. Ellstelg had proven a sturdy jouster in the last round but could Jie provide the necessary upset needed to shake the tournament once more?

While the lizard and the King moved forward successfully, a close match between the dwarf and the Anglanorse man Trygve determined once again that Norse blood runs strong in this festival.

At first the Roggarians appeared to be the clear favorites, but could the Norsemen snag another prize?

2 - Zhang Jie versus the Anglanorse King
3 - Graned versus Olavsson
4 - Arathas Menthel II versus Chang Qing

Whilst Reinhard and the High Elf sounds like quite the funny and sticky situation, in actually it was quite straightforward - no punch line, just a lance blow. One that ended with neither men falling, just Reinhard's spear breaking - 3 times.

Zhang and the Anglanorse King ended with both toppling twice - but with Zhang holding on bitterly the third time, as his lance blow was taken on the Anglanorse King's shield, he toppled, slowly at first, but then faster and faster til helm met ground and hand met hand as applause rippled across the arena after the initial shock subsided.

In the third match, once more it was quite close, but in a similar situation, the Norsemen met with failure once more. In a shocking situation, they were knocked out - and by the sea elf no less!

Meanwhile, Qing's match ended as people presumed it would - with a clean sweep by Menthel. Qing looked shocked at first - had he tried any of his tactics? The High Elves snickered. Whatever he did, they knew any human named Menthel would be enough to, for a lack of a better, word, PURGE the competition.

In the first battle of the day, Jie stood opposite his Sea Elf opponent. A short nod seemed all that was necessary, for both of them. That was all that was needed - they mounted, and with a fury unmatched by the later match, they charged.

For Jie, all that nod had meant was a nod. To the audience, it meant a nod. But to Graned - to him it meant something else entirely. It wasn't meant to be directed towards Jie, just an assurance that he wouldn't fall asleep on the horse, as many stretch to stay awake. The Selaveni man had stayed up last night worrying about this fight, and it showed quite evidently when he toppled off his horse in the first round. Later rounds ended up netting him points, but not enough - a 3-2 lead was enough for Jie to move on. He wasn't happy with it, but he took it.
>>
And in the penultimate match, Menthel stood at ease. His grandfather had told him much his entire life of the best method to kill a lizard (using fire, of course - the best methods always involved fire, or so it was written) but he had never thought he would come face to face with one in Lakton. Reinhard just glanced at him and mounted up. A no nonsense man, Menthel assumed, he always liked no nonsense.

And with that, both men charged once more.

(First roll is taken for the first named character to appear in a scene - I am not breaking that rule.)

And with that blow, Menthel fell. He came to minutes later, as the lizard offered him a hand up. He wondered then, if his grandfather was wrong. If his books were wrong. If his mind was wrong. As he walked off, he pondered this - lizards like heat, don't they? Why wouldn't you use ice to kill one. Then and there, Arathas the Second decided the books should be rewritten.
And as the sun set, the tournament drew to a close. Reinhard and Zhang, face to face. Two knights, at the opposite ends of the spectrum racially and appearance wise, but under the same Empress. People were cheering before it had even got away - for only in a Holy Pantheonic Empire could this all be done.

With that thought in mind, both knights focused, and began to stride onto the field for the last time on the fields of Lakton.

The third place winner is Baren Graned!
As a reward for his valiant efforts he awarded with 1 million marks and a lifetime of free trips on the superboat!

The second place winner is Zhang Jie!

For his prowess he is awarded 5 million marks and his very own Erdini lion!

The winner of the tournament is Reinhard !

His valiant showing are rewarded with 10 million marks, a golden statue of titan Wave and of course the hand of Yvonne Erden!

After the crowning of the Champion all of the lords and nobles are invited to the pallace once again for the closing feast of the tournament. They are welcomed once more by Duke Ludolf, this time however the center of the feast is on Ardan Dorsi who has been given the hand of Yvonne seeing as Reinhard would not be able to father children with her, and his bride to be!

This feast is even richer then the ones before it, featuring courses and delicacies from all of Setyrias and even cousine from the new western continent! You can find Troll livers, Icefishes from the North, boodog from Lursar and even exotic fruits from the south. The choice in alcohol is nothing to sniff at, from Rum made in the Acheri to the magmale of the dwarfs and the Sandstorms from the deserts.

The feast is now in full swing, all of the guests are in some degree drunk, Ardan Dorsi and the bride to be are dancing and even the halflings have stopped filling their faces with food as they join the dancing nobles from all around the HPE. Many speeches are given often slurred and after that the feast slowly winds down but never actually stopping. In the morning as many of you wake up with a headache you still hear the music playing from the halls but alas even that ends before noon.

And so ends the Great Tourney at Lakton. Four days of jousting, fighting and feasting with a tinyyy hint of doomsday prophecies.
>>
As they are leaving Lakton with Yvonne, Ardan Dorsi and Barnaby and suddenly hear a howl of a wolf, as they have already passed the gates Lakton they turn around to see a wolf staring right at them on his face, they see a true Wolf's Grin and the next moment they look there is over a hundred of these wolves all staring right at them wearing the same Wolf's Grin. But that moment passes in an instant, the two men turn to each other and simply shrug wondering if they have maybe drank a little bit too much last night.

The commoners don't seem to mind this move of Wave's - indeed, opinions are rather positive, she is seen as being a generous Queen for giving up her throne and honourable for following her promise 30 years ago of ruling for a limited time. Among the more educated classes, particularly the nobility, there are some concerns in places of what this will mean for the Empire in the future.

Regardless, a Contest will be held before the end of this month - in Dragonstomb candidates for the Roggarian Throne will assemble and compete, as law and tradition for over seven centuries has seen it fit.

To be a candidate one must be applicable to our laws:
Those running for king must be naturally be born on Roggarian land, be a child of two Roggarian citizens, or have naturalized in a process that would take roughly 10 years. A King of a long-living race must have their rule limited to some extent. A close Contest(under 15 differance) is resolved with a Rog'Gorra.

Now, for the mechanics! To be a candidate, you have to state your name,age,race/culture,skills and what you promise to do as King/Queen at the very least.
You may support the candidacy of another, with a d15 dice if you haven't supported or been a candidate, a d10 dice if you withdraw from candidacy or a d5 dice if you endorsed someone else and switch.

Endorsements may begin five minutes after the first candidacy post.

Let the Contest for the 33rd King of Roggar begin!

I would hope to cooperate with them and others along the Godsjaw to create favorable trade deals that you, the lower classes, could really benefit from. I'm a skilled sailor and have quite a life experience - I was on many of the expeditions going out West, and survived! In fact, I'm probably one of the most experienced in Roggar on the High Seas. A young man known to almost no one, Carl Markov's performance at the various trials in the Contest were almost perfect and he seemed to be well recieved among commoners spectating - the nobility quickly put its lots behind the young human, who has been crowned Dragonking of Roggar on the 30th of Jurias, 795

Peace and prosperity continues, with many lords across the Kingdom, big and small, planning their own tourneys in the years to come, having enjoyed the Great Tournament of 795. Knightly culture and the idea of chivalry shall live on in Roggar for decades to come at the very least.

After recent events, The Archive's administration has decided to inquire the service of the Ranger's protection^tm.

The deal subsequently cuts current trade deal with the Trusted Duchy involving paper in favor for Ranger Paper.

Those fools! Don't they know that Trusted
Paper is cheaper, better and a product you can trust!? Why would they pick the inferior product of that bunch?
Bah, we're better off without them!

Influenced by the latest fashions in weapon design in Selaven, Roggarian weaponsmiths have been experimenting with new designs in both blades and guards for swords in recent years. The development of more intricate guards and slender blades creates a more "refined", "elegant" weapon - a weapon for a more civilized era, we hope. The Selaveni call one of these the epsada ropera - which we've taken to calling "rapier"- a design that has gotten quite popular for civilian use as such weapons are not cumbersome and can be very beautiful.
More intricate guards means better chances of parrying blows with the weapon itself, which reduces the need for a shield in small-scale engagements, though such a guard won't help you against arrows.
More and more smiths are picking up this style of swordsmithing, what will come next of it might be interesting as Roggarian artisans add their own touch.

The fortress of Darkpass holds an incredibly strategic location against the Caliphate.

The Duke of Gobbopolis and the Master of Law have reached an agreement, bringing an end to lengthy rows and complicated legal disputes.
The Master of Law agrees to forfeit all claims with regards to the Mercantile Tax of the year 500 with regards to Gobbopolis.
The Duke of Gobbopolis agrees that neither Trusted Defense nor the Knights of Juras hold any economic or legal responsibility for the crimes carried out by the Yalmfrids.

Lastly, and most importantly, the Trusted Councilor, The Grandmaster of the Knights of Juras and the Duke of Gobbopolis swore a blood oath. To fight and die together as one should the Prophecy at Lakton come to pass. The Pantheon shall be defended to the last drop of blood.

"Well, would you look at that! The nobles believe in a pe-property!"
"It's prophecy, you dingus!"
"Well look at you, all high and mighty! What next, you believing that the dead god will re- rezer- come back from the dead?"
"Phff! Even I'm not half as mad as the nobles!"
