Welcome back to Dark Empire Quest, where you the players aid the reborn Emperor Palpatine and Captain Alana Tyrna as they fight to rebuild the Empire after the crushing defeat at Endor and the subsequent collapse. We will guide their choices, deal with the consequences of their actions, and work to ensure the Empire rises once again.

I allow between ten and twenty minutes for voting depending on the importance of the issue and how divided the vote is. If the vote is tied up, I usually allow an extra five minutes for a tie breaker, and if no one votes, I roll for the tie breaker (The will of the dark side)

I always try to incorporate (and encourage) write ins if they don't violate the spirit of voted decisions, though I may edit or tweak them to fit better.

We followed Alana during her early participation in Operation Tattered Banner as she found her attempts to demonstrate her skill continually frustrated by bad luck and uncooperative superiors. In the end, Admiral Oxtroe accepted Alana's idea to press their advance to the shipyards of Rendili, although she left Alana behind, intending to take credit for the push herself it seems.

While Alana brooded over this latest setback, a distress call came in from Captain Clure of Massiff, a Strike-class helming a small squadron defending the world of Perma. Clure claims to have come under heavy attack from a major Rebel force. Alana and her officers weigh their best courses of action.

"There's no guarantee we're not jumping into some kind of trap," you say aloud before addressing the comm officer, "Send a message to Captain Clure. Tell him we need more to go on. I want enemy force strength, I want their apparent goal, and I want to know how long he can conceivably holdout"

"Right away, ma'am!"

"We're not going to help them?" Lieutenant Lumis, executive officer aboard your current ship Grim Death[i/], asks.

"It wouldn't do us or them very much good if we're ambushed on route or led by the nose into a trap," you explain patiently. "But, I'm not going to leave them completely unaided. Get Captain Amey on the holocom, have him set course for Perma right away and report on the situation."

"Ma'am," Lumis says as he trots off to execute your orders.

Now was a waiting game, teeth clenched as you waited, knowing that somewhere, many light years away, your comrades were fighting and dying.

Within five minutes, you see the Nebulon-B Frigate Vengeance Endor jump away with a flicker of pseudo motion.

Minutes tick by with excruciating slowness. An attack on Perma was a dire situation indeed. If the Rebels somehow had gotten around behind you, and took Perma, they would control a world that sat astride your hyperlane back home. Oxtroe's whole fleet would be cut off until Perma could be retaken.

"Ma'am," Lumis comes up to you with a datapad, "We've heard back from Captain Clure." Lumis looks at his data pad and reads off the message. "Enemy fleet centered on two Assault Frigates, six corvettes, and three GR-75 medium transports accompanied by approximately sixty enemy fighters. Clure reports enemy seems keen to take the planet, though the transports seem to be armed as second tier warships."

Unsurprising, the Rebels had a tend to compensate for poor force composition with sheer numbers where possible. If it could fly, they would put guns on it and press it into service, even if those bulbous transports only served to absorb enemy fire.

Lumis continues, "He reports he is unable to break away due to enemy fighter cover, he intends to fight where he stands but doesn't estimate his chances for holding out are very good."

When he finishes he looks up at you, eyes wide. "Ma'am if they take Perma, we'll be isolated out here."

"We verified the transmission codes?" You ask, avoiding his comment.

"Yes, ma'am, it all checks out. But . . . A force like that, Clure doesn't stand a chance, and quite frankly I'm not sure we will either."

Grim Death A Victory-II Class Star Destroyer, and Vengeance Endor a Nebulon-B Class frigate which has already jumped for Perma.

Between the two of you, you have three squadrons of Tie/Lns.

Clure's Squadron is/was 1 Strike class Massiff, 2 Carrack class, a handful of patrol craft and three squadrons of Tie/Lns
>>

Don't make the same mistake again of attacking overwhelming hostile forces alone. Advise the local commander reinforcements are on route and to proceed with a fighting withdrawal until he can regroup with allied assets.
>>
>>1421825
Jump and assist right away.

We cant afford to divert resources away from other worlds in case this attack is a diversion. If it is, we risk losing more than one world.
If we retreat, we lose everyone's respect

"Why not even the odds a bit, hmm?' you ask Lumis before turning back to the comms officer. "Summon the surrounding Garrisons and have them meet us at Perma. I believe Grudge is about the same distance out as us." You refer to the second Victory-Nebulon Pair at Thoadeye."

"Yes, ma'am!"

The view from Grim Death's forward viewport lurches sickeningly as the ship reorients itself, preparing to jump.

"Signal Captain Clue," you order, "Have him conduct a fighting retreat until we can arrive in system. Then, when ready, execute the jump."

Within moments, your star destroyer is tearing along the gulf between worlds, racing toward Perma at unfathomable relative speeds. If reports are accurate, you know you'll have a hell of a fight ahead of you when you arrive.

The azure vortex of hyperspace reverts to star lines when themselves become the pin points of stars encircling the unremarkable world of Perma.

"Multiple contacts on comscan!" sensors cries.

All the crew jolt up, several actually standing and craning their necks to see out of the main viewports.

"Back to your posts!" Lumis shouts, perhaps louder than he needs to, his voice almost shrill. He paces over to the viewport to stare at the ships silhouetted against the blue-green world.

"Ensign, give me a report," you tell the sensor operator patiently.

"Captain Clure's forces are heavily outnumbered, ma'am," sensors begins, reading off numbers to you. As he speaks, you see a small Gozanti-class cruiser explode under concentrated turbolaser fire from the rebel forces. This leaves two weakened Tie/LN Squadrons, a heavily damaged IPV-1 patrol ship, a nearly crippled Gozanti venting atmosphere, two Carrack cruisers, both with their shields exhausted, being battered by enemy fire, and the Captain Clure's flagship, the Strike-class Massiff, her shields still intact, but beginning to falter. map to follow

Attacking the system is a full rebel fleet. Two Assault Frigates, the Mark I variant. Four CR-90 "Blockade Runner" corvettes, a DP20 gunship, two GR-75 transports that appear to have been outfitted for light combat, as well as approximately 4-5 squadrons of fighters, X-wings and Y-wings. The battle takes place amidst a small but growing debris field of destroyed vessels, it looks like Clure's squadron has been fighting for some time before you arrived.

Just ahead of you is Vengeance Endor, launching her own Tie compliment.

"Launch our Ties immediately!" Lumis orders, "Send them against those rebels!"

"Belay that, Lieutenant," you snap, stepping up beside him, suffering a withering glare. "Or do you really want to have a conversation about command authority in the middle of a fight?"

Lumis glares silently for a moment. "No. Ma'am."

"Good," you raise your voice again, "Launch the ties into a holding pattern around the ship and let's see what we're up against."

The situation looks fairly dire. Clure's force faces annihilation if it tries to run, it would be easily chased down by the superior rebel formation, and you mentally begin writing off both Carrack's and their crews. Possibly, Massiff could be saved.

In comparison, your own relief force is pitifully small, but you a have received confirmation of reinforcements. Both nearby garrisons are on the way, to the galactic north two Carracks should arrive, while west, a Victory, Grudge and its Nebulon B escort should be arriving.

For now, it's just you.

We'll have to try to sandwich them. We'll put a majority of our power into our engines as we try to race to get behind the enemy force. Our ties should focus on the GR-75's while the Grim Death moves to get rid of while Endor will be right by us to protect against their fighters and bombers. If we have any special equipment on board, now would be the time to say, TK.

Have our fighters link up with Clure's in order to form an effective screen for the captain's remaining ships. There are too many escort ships among the rebels for our fighters to be effective without support we don't have, so have them aid the escape. Make certain our fighters know their orders are to link up and screen; NOT to engage the rebel fleet head on.

Meanwhile, bring our ships into long range of the rebel forces and concentrate firepower to the main guns. Hopefully we can get the rebels to break formation and have some of them come at us which will, with the addition of our fighter screen, allow clure's force to escape.

"Move in, all ships," you order. "Have our Ties link with Clures's but avoid engaging the rebel fleet directly. They are to screen Clure's forces. "Otherwise, advance into turbolaser range, we'll swat those corvettes with ease." You hope the confidence you're exuding is felt by the crew around you.

The twisting dogfight around Clure's ships is evened somewhat by the arrival of your Ties, who clearly catch the rebel pilots off guard, you spy a pair of Y-wings torn apart.

Half the rebel fleet breaks off their attack on Clure and is burning toward you, clearly intent on intercepting your forces before they can come to Clure's aid.

Some intense AA fire from Carrack A drives away a strafing attempt by a flight of X-wings that almost certainly would have sunk it. Your Tie's are keeping the enemy fighters at bay, using the debris field to their advantage, denying the Rebel AA gunners on the cruisers clear shots at them. Despite this, your fighters are unmatched and with roughly even numbers, it's only a matter of time before the superior fighters of the rebellion leave their mark.

"Enemy ships in Turbolaser range now, ma'am!"Lumis reports hungrily.

"Let's thin their numbers a bit," you say, "Target their corvettes."

The Turbolasers on Grim Death speak, followed by the batteries on Vengeance Endor.

While they fire toward the oncoming rebels, you see a squadron of X-wings forming up ahead of them and racing to execute strafing attacks on your ship, with no Tie's to dissuade them, you'll have to rely on you gunners to keep them at bay.

Your fire splashes across the shields of the enemy corvettes as they close the gap, starting to return fire. The deck under your feet trembles with vibrations from the impacts though none breach your shields, but now the fighters are upon you, a pair of X-wigns level off, diving straight for the bridge before they are cut down by laser fire, exploding dramatically, debris showering across your shields.

"Arrogant fools," Lumis spits.

Shockingly, your fighters are still holding back the enemy, though losses are starting to tell on both sides, enough for a Rebel blockade runner to shoot its way through the fighter screen and strafe Carrack A, the two small capital ships trading fire ineffectually and eventually breaking off

"Order Clure's ships to withdraw to us," you say, "I'm not sure how much longer our Ties can hold." You spare a glance at a tactical display which only strengthens that belief as several more Ties are wiped out with little to show for it. Clure's squadrons are almost entirely depleted with perhaps only half a dozen fighters remaining between them.

"Captain!" Lumis calls, "Grudge has arrived!"

"Have her come in at best speed, we stand a good chance of stopping these rebels here now," you say, unable to keep the smile off your face.

"Ma'am, our shields are 50%, but holding," the tactical officer says as the X-wings make another strafing run across the bow of your ship, your guns tracking them ineffectually.

One of the Rebel transport ships is cored by a turbolaser shot that rips through its shields like fabric and sends the transport careening away in flames. The other two remaining corvettes are suffering terribly. Almost in retribution, the Assault Frigate unleashes a withering barrage that rocks the ship so violently you have to grab a hold of the console you stand beside.

"Our forward shields are down, ma'am!" a crewman cries.

"Get them back, now!" Lumis snaps back.

"I'm trying , sir!" the crewman calls back with a desperate tone in their voice.

"How long till Grudge reaches firing range?" you ask Lumis in a low tone.

"Minutes, ma'am. We may not last."

"We have to," you reply.

There is a brilliant flash from starboard ahead. Both you and Lumis look in time to see Carrack A's reactor detonate, blowing the small warship clean in half. The frigate that destroyed it fires a few more defiant shots at its wreck before training its guns on the fleeing Massiff.

There is another flash ahead, on the opposite side of the Rebel fleet.

"That's the Carracks from Leria Kerlsil!" Lumis calls in triumph.

"No sir! Comscan reports it as a heavy cruiser," a crewman replies, reading his display. "Dauntless-Class."

"Dauntless?" Lumis asks dumbfounded.

"It's more rebels," you growl.

Sensors confirm your assessment, a Dauntless-class heavy cruiser and a fresh squadron of X-wings have arrived opposite you on the battlefield.

Boarding action is possible. Grim Death has 5 Lamda shuttles on board that can be used for that purpose, each can hold 20 stormtroopers. However, without fighter superiority in the area, it would be risky.

"Have Grudge Cut off that Dauntless before it can join the battle," you say. "And ready the stormtroopers. I think I see a corvette that the Emperor would like back."

Your batteries change their aim to the Assault frigate you're locked in combat with, your ships are so close you can now see the title Gun Queen emblazoned on the side.

The two of you exchange fire at point blank range, another series of violent shudders run through the bridge, sending you to your knees as you fight to stand. You look up to see debris and atmosphere venting past the view port.

"Captain, heavy damage to our port side turbolaser batteries!"

You hear klaxxons sounding deeper in the command tower, that last volley dealt some serious damage your vessel from the sound of it, an assessment confirmed when you pull yourself back to your feet and crowd over to the tactical section with Lumis.

"By the Emperor, there's damage all over the ship," Your XO say breathlessly. "And Vengeance Endor's shields are down."

"But so are the other bastard's," you point out

The power on the bridge flickers momentarily and, adding insult to injury, the X-wings execute another strafing run on your ship, blasting holes in her bow with a barrage of Proton torpedoes.

In an ordinary line battle, this would be the part where your ship would be withdrawn while heavier capital ships slug it out. In this case, there were no heavier ships.

Carrack B fires a defiant salvo at the nearby CR90, blowing away its dorsal turbo laser mount.

Gun Queen and Grim Death are locked in mortal combat, blasting away at ranges they can't miss from. You're delighted to see your shots finally starting to punch through the shields to the armor beneath, but it's clear the Assault Frigate is coming out on top in this trade off.

A positive is that your five shuttle boarding team wasn't spotted by the X-wings circling your ship, and approach the Blockade runner whose gunners likewise fail to hit the shuttles. Like deadly, white butterflies they settle on the hull of the CR90, cutting lasers engaging on their undersides and burning into the hull within. The crew of that ship is going to have their hands full with 100 pissed off stormtroopers in their passageways soon enough. You hoped you lived long enough to see the results of that.

You so see Massiff come about and dive toward the Assault Frigate facing you, blasting away at her armor as she comes. The right flank of the battle has become a confused mass of fighters as the squadrons break up into individual dogfights. Somewhat shockingly, your fighters are still holding their own despite the parity in numbers, giving as good as they get. A few dead Tie pilots are to be expected, but it's a joy to see X-wing jockey's ejecting from exploding craft.

Another deadly volley exchanged and you're satisfied to see Gun Queen Is venting atmosphere at several points now.

"Captain, we should consider withdrawing!" Lumis insists.

"I'll see this other bastard in hell first!" you reply, fire in your eyes and the taste of blood in the air.

The power flickers again as an officer reads out a damage list, power is being rerouted all over the ship and two decks have been completely vented, but your reactor is intact, and you can still fight. For once, it looks like you may have an advantage on the Assault frigate. With its corvettes effectively out of action, one being boarded and the other engaging one of the Carracks, you outgun the enemy vessel.

Not to mention Clure's ship, Massiff which fires its own barrage, breaking the back of Gun Queen quit literally. The Assault frigate splits in two and begins to launch escape pods. Then a bunch of good things happen all at once.

First, CR90 A explodes rather spectacularly under fire from Carrack B, afterward.

"Captain! Sergeant Messa reports CR90 D is out of commission, they're still fighting to take the bridge, but the reactor has been shut down successfully."

"Very good!" you take a triumphant look out the viewport as the remaining X-wings high tail it for the rest of their fleet which is virtually unharmed, and that fresh Dauntless is a . . . Daunting task.

Beyond that, the strain of battle is starting to show on your Ties, as losses mount you find yourself with two less squadrons.

It's quite clear to you that Grim Death is out of the fight at any rate, with shield generators all offline and your gunnery section itself hit with a turbolaser. Perhaps Grudge and the others could carry the fight . . . Or perhaps not.

They either run away and we win, or they crash like waves upon our walls. Have the Grudge attack the Dauntless while the Nebulon A comes over to help with the fighters. Mastiff and Cararck B should focus on the CR90 A and the DP20 A while the CR90 helps us with the Frigate once they get it under control. Have our fighters pull into a defensive formation. We're not out of the fight yet

>>We won't give up the field, withdraw into a defense posture and make the enemy come to us.

We're evenly matched now. We would be winning if it were not for the fact that the Massiff and Grim death have suffered major damage. It is a close decision whether to disengage or remain, but the fact that we still have reinforcements incoming and a fresh Victory and her escort coming in help to even the fight.

Have our corvette get in position to reinforce the screening fighters. We need their anti air capabilities.

Have damage control teams do what they can to effect emergency repairs. Make sure we display our starboard side to the enemy rather than our damaged port broadside. We're evenly matched now if the Dauntless cannot get to us, and hopefully the other victory and nebulon will be able to deal.

"Bring in the ships," you say, "We're played our hand, let's let the rebels make their move." you turn to comms, "And I want an encrypted message sent to Oxtroe and to High Command informing them of our current situation with updates to come." You pause and add "And if there are mobile repair facilities available, we'll need them here as soon as practicable."

"Ma'am!" the comms officer sets about transcribing the message.

You watch your forces draw together, fighters forming a cohesive screen ahead of you, at the same time the rebels are withdrawing in good order as well.

"Captain, the Leira Kerlsil Garrison has arrived and is deploying their Tie Squadron," Sensors reports.

"Well, it looks like the Rebels have had enough," you say.

"We certainly bloodied their noses," Lumis replies. "Damage reports are still coming in, but it's clear Grim Death is likely going to be spending time in drydock, maybe at Kuat or Rendili."

"Hmm," you reply noncommittally, full engrossed in the issue at hand. The rebels aren't taking your bait, and in fact, are obviously withdrawing toward the hyperlimit.

"Lieutenant," you say conversationally.
"Ma'am?"

"I don’t think they've had enough."

Lumis blinks, "Pardon?"

"The left wing of the fleet is fresh, we'll send them forward and see how they fair. Apply some pressure on the right, but nothing too strenuous. We'll hold Grim here with the corvette."

"Yes, ma'am!" Lumis says, incredulous.

Orders are relayed and Grudge takes lead with the small task force gathered on your left. Your Ties tear small gashes in the exhausted rebel fighter screen which falls back quickly, leading your Ties into the guns of the remaining freighter and Corvette B where they are driven off, revealing two Carracks that followed them in, turbolasers flashing emerald death. The CR90 you labled "B" is destroyed in a lucky strike on its reactor, return fire being paltry in comparison.

As if on signal, the rebel fleet turns in unison, all racing for the hyper limit.

The GR-75 doesn't make it. IT's exposed engines are shredded by Tie strafing runs and the vessel surrenders shortly afterward. Carrack C gives chase of the Dauntless, but fails to penetrate its shields before the rebel fleet reaches the limit and jumps, leaving you in control of Perma.

LOSSES: Rebel:
Assault Frigate Mk I "Gun Queen"
2 GR-75s
1 DP20 Frigate
2 CR90 Corvettes

20 X-wings
12 Y-wings

IMPERIAL:
2 IPV1 Patrol ships
1 Carrack Cruiser
1 Victory Class (Crippled)

60 Tie/Lns

yall got some crazy lucky rolls for the record, 8 hits out of 10 rolls in one turn against that Assault Frigate which evened the odds like crazy

Celebrations are somewhat subdued on board Grim Death given the dire state the ship is in. A reactor leak has forced the evacuation of many lower decks, and the wounded are being offloaded to Grudge since your own medical facilities aren't operating at peak capacity.

It's only when you receive a response from High Command that the exact situation becomes clear.

Zahns fleet did in fact captures Kuat completely intact. Then, on approach to Neimodia, ran headlong into a rebel fleet with a sizable composition. A battle was fought and Zahn left the bloodied, drove them off. Afterward it was discovered that the planetary governor of Balmorra had signed a treaty with the so-called "New Republic", falling under siege, now that it was "trapped" behind the lines.

After two stinging setbacks, the rebel fleet consolidated a defense between Foundry, Humarine, and Commenor. It seemed neither you, nor they had any expectation the other was entering this area until they ran headlong into one another.

That, coupled with Admiral Oxtroe's report of successfully capturing Rendili after a skirmish with a local militia has led Operation Tattered Banner to be declared a success. It becomes known for four major victories, Admiral Zahn's capture of Kuat and his victory in the Battle of Neimodia, Admiral Oxtroe's capture of Rendili, and Captain Tyrna's dogged defense of Perma, ensuring the "B Squadron" was not cut off, and driving the Rebels off the Corellian Run.

The exact consequences of this, and the new of Thrawn's potential movements will be explored next session, where we will rejoin Emperor Palpatine, plan our next stage of conquest, and check up on the training of our delightful pupil and apprentice, Mara Jade.

I suppose that's true, but we are more concerned with the Empire, War, Order, and being a good soldier (who lives up to daddy's expectations) than we are with climbing the ranks. While we're ambitious, I believe our ambition is secondary to our desire to serve the Empire. In that regard, a marriage for power that would take us temporarily out of the fight for the Empire might be something we don't want.

Finding a suitable husband will actually help us greatly. If he is a bureaucrat, he could procure more ships every time we put ours out of commission (kek). Welcome back to Dark Empire!

Last we left off, Alana, through blood and determination, kept the Perma System firmly in Imperial hands, bloodying a Rebel fleet sent to capture the planet, and in doing some earned some notoriety for herself and her actions. The end result is a campaign that is mostly successful and has minted some fresh military heroes for the Empire.

Such concerns are beneath the Emperor, who has bigger problems to deal with such as the composition of his new Dark Side structure, the production aims of the Empire's budding Military-Industrial Complex, the next focus of its military campaigns, or the training progress of his new apprentice, Mara Jade.

It seems every holonet channel in the Empire is filled with the victory celebrations in orbit around Kuat's expansive artificial ring, and on the ground as the whole planet turned out to welcome Zahn and his liberators. Kuat Drive Yards was and is perhaps the largest military contractor for the Imperial Navy, and Kuat IS the Kuat Drive Yards in essence, it was a welcome return.

After Coruscant, Kuat is the first victory the forces of your Dark Empire have scored worthy of notice on a Galactic scale. With Imperial Center, and the Kuat Drive Yards, surely any other obstacles will be reduced to mere inconveniences. With all that being said, there are some who expect the traditionally reclusive emperor to emerge from Imperial Center to make his presence once more on a grand scale.

Though, such visits you find tiresome, personally. They are taken up by endless processions of officials and ceremonies and bowing and scraping. You time could potentially be spent much more productively by working on other pressing matters and sending your Grand Vizier Mas Amedda to act in your stead on Kuat.

Just as foundries need ore for the furnaces, and shipyards need armor plating and electronic components, the masses require motivation to be kept in an obedient stupor. You make plans to be present on Kuat for the launching of the newest Star Destroyer Blood Oath. The Kuati ruling family is a vital ally, and of course it's important to keep them happy and content to stay under your thumb.

The trip to Kuat is itself an eventful affair, requiring you to board Tarkin and travel with your super star destroyer squadron through what had been a recent warzone.

Accompanying you are two of your closest followers, Sedriss, your Executor, and your Apprentice-in-Training, Mara Jade. Your reformation of the Dark Side Order is a slow affair, requiring primarily a huge influx of fresh, force-attuned blood. But, that was a problem for another time. You push the thought away as you greet the new ruler of Kuat, the young Kuat of Kuat, no more than a teenage boy at the moment, controlled by a powerful family with ancient roots that encircled the planet.

"We live to serve you, my liege," he said.

The words were pleasing to you, as were the uneasy glances they would cast to the two Dark Siders who followed you on your trip. Sedriss was a known, if unpleasant, quantity to them. This woman though, who calls the Emperor "master" was something new. You could feel it in their minds, the comparisons to Vader. The Emperor's Fist.

Let them fear, let them wonder. They would learn soon enough.

The climax of your visit comes in orbit of Kuat in the shipyards that encircle the planet. A vast factory floor, cleared of all manufacturing equipment and polished till the floor reflected the ceiling, housed what must have been ten thousand Kuati dockworkers. Their attention was focused on you, standing at a small dais with a collection of dark side followers behind you and an honor guard of storm troopers. It wasn't truly the dock workers that mattered, but the holocam lenses that glinted at you from points throughout the room. Through those artificial eyes, billions upon trillions of sentients would watch this moment.

The entire back wall of the room was a floor-to-ceiling transparisteel view port, showing the Star Destroyer Blood Oath, marked with red blazes on its flanks as the first warship launched from Kuat after your return, draped in black fabric to symbolize the long enforced mourning period the Empire had underwent in your absence.

A commander for this vessel had yet to be decided, but you could be certain competition for such a placement would be fierce.

"This battleship," you begin, "Symbolizes the might of the people of Kuat, and the determination they share with many trillions of beings across the galaxy, to restore the rightful government to its place of power. Many of you are two young to remember the chaos, turmoil, and bloodshed of the Clone Wars that nearly destroyed civilization as we know it, but now, more than ever, the specter of defeat looms! Since my near fatal wounding during the treacherous rebel ambush on Endor, my Empire has been picked at and ravaged by would-be petty kings and robber barons. Despoilers who seek not to uplift, but to tear down!"

"I stand before you, humbled by circumstances and so desperately proud of the citizens of the Empire, asking that you, people of Kuat, and people of the galaxy at large, do not despair! Do not surrender hope! Order is coming, Justice is coming! And with it, retribution and judgement against those who would upset prosperity that they may snap up what they feel is their own reward. We will not sit idly by and watch the empire that we love, taken so callously from us. Rise! Rally to your emperor, and together, nothing will stop our return!"

As you hold your hands to the ceiling, you are momentarily deafened by booming applause. You can feel the emotions of the crowd of ship builders packed into this room. Fear of uncertainty, anger at the future they believe was stolen from them, the future they believe they can now win back.

As the crowd continues to cheer, you idly wonder who much this speech will increase recruitment numbers.

With the formalities at Kuat completed, and other pressing business to attend to, you leave everything else in the hands of the admirals and bureaucrats, returning to Imperial Center to focus on the war effort.

With the capture of Rendili and Kuat, as well as vast swaths of the Inner Core, the Imperial Navy is once again becoming a navy in spirit as well as just name, just starting to approach its Pre-Endor glory days. The capture of Kuat itself provides a whole combat fleet, Approximately four Star destroyers + escorts while between Rendili and defections from local garrisons in the Inner Core, you manage to outfit a second combat fleet. To add to this boon, one of your defense fleets at Coruscant is repaired and fully operational, though Admiral Zahn's fleet, and Oxtroe's to a lesser degree, requires some repair work.

That being said, within your current military hierarchy, Sedriss is your Imperial Executor and has overall command of your armed forces. The role of Executor had previously been partially filled by Vader, and your Emperor's Hand to some degree. They carried the authority of the Emperor and could oversee personally operations which you could not. Sedriss had taken this role shortly before your death at Endor and served faithfully in your absence, proving leadership and guidance, though it could often be less than inspired, Sedriss was always fanatically loyal. By all accounts, with what he had to work with and the lack of respect other warlords paid his title, he did a wonderful job holding your military together, however Sedriss is not a soldier in the conventional sense nor an officer.

To this end, it has occurred to you that Sedriss, and even the role of Executor itself, may not be what the Empire needs at this moment. Should you wish to replace him, a number of options are open for you.

>Leave Executor as head of the military (Option to choose new Executor)
>Place a new Grand Admiral under the Executor as the acting head of the military (Choose New Grand Admiral)
>We have no need for an Executor any longer, a Grand Admiral will lead (Sedriss is no longer Imperial Executor)

>>
>>1425412
We thank Sedriss for his role in keeping our Empire alive, and while he has served his purpose, he will remain in some way within our power structure. He is an administrator, not a soldier, and we need a soldier for this job.

I propose something different. We don't put an Admiral in charge, but instead, someone who has a wide variety of military experience within all different branches, then we have the Grand Admiral of all the navy, a general of the Armies, who control all the land forces, and any other categories get split between them.

There aren't really any candidates who have extensive experience with ever branch. A "civilian" like Sedriss might. Otherwise, most high ranking officers are fairly specialized.

Udner the "conventional" structure, a Grand Admiral is in charge because the navy has primacy. The Imperial "big ship"navy is the darling of its military

Well in that case, we'll pick someone from the military hierarchy and put Sedriss into an Administrative role.

Sedriss should focus on his role as Darknest Knight WIP Title, any fun alternatives? as head of the Blackguard, though removing him as Executor would be seen as a demotion. To that end, you decide to keep Sedriss in his role as Executor, but roll back the direct military control that he wields.

As it stands, you have two obvious military commanders who could be considered "Great".

Admiral Helvus Zahn is an obvious choice given his steadfast loyalty after your death. Not to mention his victories at Coruscant and Neimodia. Given the huge role the navy plays in your military, Zahn would be a perfect candidate.

General Maximillian Veers is a longtime favorite of yours, serving under Vader on his "Death Squadron" while he hunted Rebels. Veers was the "Hero of Hoth" and is well known. Either through accident or design, he ended up in the Dark Empire, still serving his emperor years later. Putting a General over an admiral would be unorthodox, but stranger things have happened.

The ceremony of promotion is a fairly simplistic affair and takes place on your private Skyhook in low Coruscanti orbit. Zahn and Sedriss meet with you in one of your meditation rooms, a shadowy room seething with dark side energies.

Zahn enters, looking both proud in his crisp, new, white, Grand Admiral's uniform, and uneasy to be in your company.

"Zahn," you say, "You are the first of my new Grand Admirals. There will be others, but you will always be the first. This is an honor that cannot ever be taken from you. I Trust you will not betray my faith in this decision."

"N-no, your highness," he stammers. "It's a honor to be selected."

"It is a natural conclusion," you say waving off his praise. "I select those I deem most worthy. You will have plenty of opportunities to demonstrate my good judgement."

"Yes, my liege."

With Zahn's installation as supreme military commander, you take a look at one remaining blemish in your otherwise well executed campaign.

Balmorra.

Though Kuat is of course a shining jewel in the metaphorical Imperial crown, Balmorra is quite the opposite. Perhaps more of a Mynock around your neck. Balmorra, like Kuat, had once been a major source of armaments for the Empire, but Balmorra lacked the conservative attitude of the Kuatis and had embraced the ideas of rebellion whole heartedly, especially as a means to secure more profits for themselves.

It seemed the Rebels intended to seize Balmorra for their own purposes and only the intervention of Admiral Zahn and his victory at Neimoidia had prevented that. Now cut off, Balmorra refused to lower the flag of rebellion. Sheltering behind a sparse orbital defense and extensive ground-based military forces, Governor Beltane refused to turn the planet over. At present there is little risk of the Rebels breaking your siege, but you have made little headway against the defenders since the risk of destruction to Balmorra's extensive industrial facilities is great.

At present, three methods exist for reducing and capturing the factory world.

>Land forces for ground assault (Will be risky)
>Continue to lay siege to Balmorra (Will take time)
>Commence orbital bombardment Balmorra (Will destroy the factories)
>>
>>1425663
I still wonder, how many super star destroyers the empire could have build instead of the death star.
>>
>>1425700

>>
>>1425700

They make guns. There will be resistance and rebellion on and from that planet for generations. Getting rid of it sends a message, some stragglers will fall to us but we'll send others further into rebellion but they were likely to jump that way anyway.
>>
>>1425700
>Commence orbital bombardment Balmorra (Will destroy the factories)

I haven't done an elite trooper "event" yet. It's on the list. But there's SOOOOO much to cover. I'd have to make everything just a giant list of decisions to catch up which I find tedious and dull, but maybe I'm wrong? haha

Mara isn't ready yet right? Or can we send her with a special op to infiltrate the planet? Because sieging Balmorra will only attract the rebellion and we are not in full force. You know what? We have to show no quater with rebels

>Commence orbital bombardment Balmorra (Will destroy the factories)

Rebels and traitors get the hammer.
>>
>>1425748

The rebels would destroy the factories themselves if we conducted a ground war and we do not have time for a siege. This is no time for mercy; they shall feel our wrath for their treachery so that others will not make the same mistake.
>>
ARE YOU GUYS CRAZY! Balmoraa is PRICELESS! we can't destroy those factories

>>1425776
>Could we scout the planet so we could be just a little more accurate?
Accuracy itself isn't really a problem, its more of a problem that to break the shields over these cities, you have to hammer them relentlessly, some shots get through, others don't. It's impossible to predict which shots will "break through" and the ones that do could hit anything.

"Grand Admiral Zahn" you say. "On the eve of your promotion, I have your first assignment."

You see fear in Zahn's eyes. The fear of failure, the fear of disappointing his monarch. Good.

"Yes, you highness?"

"Destroy Balmorra."

Afterward, you watch the holovids taken of the planets "reduction" with something akin to regret. Balmorra would have been a wonderful prize to take intact, but you think a man not afraid to break his old tools is a man who is expecting to use even better ones in the near future.

Emerald shafts of turbolaser fire streak down from the heavens to smash on the shields Beltane had erected over the capital, Bin Prime, and other major strategic centers. Such shields held up well while orbital forces drove off the enemy fleet. In this case though, Balmorra had no orbital forces. Soon the power was failing and your lasers were smashing buildings and roads, factories and depots. The reduction of Balmorra took just a few standard days, and in the end, the sprawling seas of slag and industrial waste piles were almost indistinguishable from what had been Balmorra.

Beltane's body is dug from the ruins by stormtroopers who land on the world to claim it. Zahn is quoted as saying "We have made this world a desert so there may be peace."

A pitiful mass is left behind when the dust settles, with no factories to work in, and no pay to be earned, they are a great hopeless mass.

>They will learn the error of their ways as slaves for the Empire

To leave Balmorra a ruin would be to invite criticism of your government and build sympathy for the rebellion. No, you will show the galaxy the benefits of Imperial servitude. You can use the manpower of Balmorra for much of the "heavy lifting" under the supervision of Imperial engineers . . . And perhaps the occasional platoon of Stormtroopers.

Even if you squeeze every credit possible from Balmorra's ruins and sell off their every asset to the Kuat Drive Yards or Rendili, you will still have to foot a hefty chunk of the bill. You consider it an investment for the future and try not to think of the weapons you could have built with Balmorra's aid, or bought with the money you're using to rebuild the ruined world.

Nonetheless, construction starts in earnest, though it does reduce the funds budgeted to Kuat for more warships.

That being said, in a conversation with the chiefs of KDY, you are told of two rival plans, each mutually exclusive, for further development on Kuat.

The shipyards are of course geared to produce Imperial II-Class Star Destroyers as they have done for about a decade now, but another plan exists. Before being deposed, the warlord, Admiral Harssk had blueprints draw up and materials gathered for the construction of an Executor-class Super Star Destroyer. The Kuatis can continue with his plan, or use those resources to put together virtually an entire battle fleet.

It's a combat-ready fleet. Everything but the bodies to crew it. Currently your officer corps is still stretched a little thin, but your choice to promote promising conscripts has fleshed out the ranks a bit.

More problems with manpower may crop up in the future. Every choice has consequences. There are no perfect decisions of freebies.

>Find plans for the reactivation of old ships.
Ventator and Dreadnought hulks are floating around in deep space right? Our ISD's and Victories would be better suited on the frontlines rather than on garrison duty while these old clunkers can still be a threat to anything that isn't serious about taking a planet's orbit.

>>1426038
>Ventator and Dreadnought hulks are floating around in deep space right?
To be honest, not really.

They were phased out of service a few decades ago in the case of the Venator, and even longer back for the Dreadnought. Cheaper, less capable ships like Nebulon-Bs, Strikes, and occasionally Victory-Class SDs are used for garrison duty.

Gathering up and crewing hulks would really only make your manpower shortage much worse.

It's a sad day for the Empire when a simple project like a Super Star Destroyer is considered "frivolous" but you have to accept it will be best to build a new navy from the ground up in essence.

To that end, assembly lines on Byss and Foerost are finishing up their latest production cycles and it falls to you to decide what they should focus on next. There are two basic schools of thought.

The first is of the hard line conservatives in the navy who advocate the status quo. They follow a school of numbers, quantity over quality. They hold that the results of any hypothetical engagement can be determined mathematically by analyzing the numbers at play. To that end, they advocate "Keeping the assembly lines hot" to replenish losses and ultimately add a fresh combat fleet to the Imperial naval roster. Currently, much of your navy consists of older ships that should have been "mothballed" years ago and many of your forces were pulled out of storage. This results in second rate ships serving in a front line capacity. The biggest victim of this is your fighter corps, most of which are Tie/Lns, their replacement having been set back by the Shadow Droid development program. Investing in this option would give your commanders on the front line access to things like Tie bombers and Tie Interceptors to supplement the Lien fighters.

The second school is more bold, the mavericks, the wunderkinds, those advocating change. They hold that new weapons will be needed to win future battles and that an endless stream of Tie/Lns simply won't suffice. They advocate the development of new and experimental weapons of war, namely in the fighter category. It would require extensive retooling of your assembly lines, but the effect would be a fresh supply of Tie/Ad "Avengers" put into production to supplement your fighters forces.

The Tie Avenger has proved quite popular with your test pilots, and reports from front line commanders have been critical of the performance of the old Tie/LN. It's time for change, even if change takes time. You order the production lines changed and being to produce Tie/Ads, soon they will be available for deployment to the front lines.

With the minor details hashed out, it's time to answer more serious questions, about the fate of the empire at large and its plans going forward. To this end, you hear reports from Yssanne Isaard, your Director of Intelligence in your personal skyhook.

"To begin with," Isard says, clearing her throat, "I have an overview of the strategic situation we are faced with, and a number of proposals from our top military leaders on how to approach them."

"Go on," you reply.

"And then I have a proposal of my own," Isard's mismatched eyes fix on yours and see the spark of what makes her so dangerous to her enemies, for just a moment, then it's gone.

You find your interest piqued. "Proceed, director."

"To start with, Tattered Banner is a partial success. We've liberated a large chunk of territory and vital strategic areas, though our plans were disrupted by unexpected Rebel interference."

"How did such an attack occur with such little warning?" you ask.

"My liege, we lack significant intelligence assets within the rebel forces due to ongoing reliability concerns. Not to mention every estimate said the Rebellion was incapable of launching any major attacks after their engagements against Thrawn."

"Evidently those reports were wrong."

"On the contrary, your highness.," Isard replies, perhaps one of the few in your empire who would dare to contradict you, "We suspect the only reason the rebels entered the Inner Core was because they expected no resistance. Neimodia and Perma showed the rebels weren't anticipating a stand up fight, nor were they prepared for it. They withdrew to defensive positions shortly afterward." When you make no further objections she proceeds. "Unfortunately, their interference has secured Foundry, Humarine, the hub world of Commenor and Balmorra, to some extent. All vital positions in their own right. These worlds make up the vital support structure that keeps Kuat fed with materials to produce fleets, until they are liberated, Kuat will be operating at reduced capacity."

"Not to mention," Isard continues, "This rebel salient threatens any advance we would make down the Hydian Way or Corellian Run. Admiral Harssk's former holdings in Corellia are ripe for the taking, but doing so may invite a rebel counter stroke since their strength's in that area are poorly known. This provides a major crimp to any operations we would wish to execute to the galactic south."

Hearing of problems with no proposed solutions sets your nerves on edge and as you glower at Isard, you take to drumming your fingers on the armrest of your throne. "Don't think, director, that I've forgotten your promise to bring me the heads of these warlords who betray me."

"I have not forgotten, your highness," She says quickly. "I am merely laying my plans to deliver them to you."

"Be thankful we have other enemies to turn our gaze to," you say, staring pointedly at Isard. "I fear for them, and you, if I run out of worlds to conquer."

Isard bows quickly, "Yes, my liege."

"I'll remind you, I wouldn't be asking so much of you had you not failed to hold my empire together in my absence."

"I did what I could, your highness," Isard says, "With treachery in the ranks of the navy-"

You wave a hand, "Now is not the time for your excuses. Continue."

"Yes, your highness," Isard collects herself before continuing. "Closer to Imperial Center, in the Negs, the xenos of Yevetha continue to maintain the illusion that they have a functioning government they call the Dushkan League. They've slaughtered or enslaved the soldiers and civilians we left behind during the withdrawal. The area itself is insignificant strategically, only its relative proximity to Imperial Center, and a handful of minor shipyards lend it any importance. Our analysis of the Dushkan military leaves us with doubt they are any sort of credible threat, although they are in possession of the Black Fleet, including three Super Star Destroyers."

"Three Super Star Destroyers in the hands of renegade slave labor?" you ask, "And you expect me to believe they don't amount to a threat?"

"They're xenos," Isard replies, as if that explains everything, "Clever ones, but Xenos nonetheless. Driven purely by emotion and instinct rather than logic or reason. In fact, it seems they hate us perhaps even more than we hate them. Their bigotry and xenophobia plays to our favor."

"And how is that, my dear?" You ask.

"Their genocidal beliefs precludes any possibility of meaningful alliance with either the Rebels, Thrawn, or any of the remaining warlords. Not to mention their territory is hard to 'break out' from. We have them bottle necked with the outpost at Cal Seti. This eliminates the possibility of a sneak attack against Imperial Center, and renders most of the threat they otherwise pose, moot. They should be dealt with, but that time can wait."

"And what of your assessment on the so-called 'Brentaal Protectorate'?" You ask.

"The vermin have dug themselves deeper. It seems our advance onto the Hydian Way made 'High Admiral" Reddrin nervous of being flanked, and so lashed out and seized the world of Skako to prevent us having a clear path to strike Brentaal itself and crumble his petty kingdom."

"Very good, director," you reply approvingly. "You've done an excellent job of information collecting. There is oif course one issue of paramount concern to me."

"The situation on Velusia," Isard replies coolly.

"Exactly," you reply, "My Grand Admiral is proving to be quite troublesome."

"I would agree. Thrawn, we previously thought, was too engaged in his war with the rebels to pay us any mind, but it seems your . . . " Isard hangs on a word here, "return to Coruscant caught his attention." She removes a datapad from the blouse pocket on her uniform, tapping a few keys and bringing up a series of holograms that illustrate her talking points. "We know now that a small, two star destroyer task force jumped into Velusia and quickly destroyed the picket force we'd left behind. Velusia stands strategically located to defend any avenues of approach on Thrawn's territory, or to serve as a jumping-off point for attacks on Coruscant and the Deep Core . . ."

"What do we know about Thrawn's military capacity?" you ask.

"We know that he hides his numbers through rapid redeployment of his forces. He has a hyperlane, the Celanon Spur, that enables him to transfer his fleets across the breadth of his territory easily."

"Thrawn never needed numbers to win," you say with a scowl. To wield Thrawn as your own weapon had been a pleasure, but to face him as an enemy . . . "What do we know about his little empire?"

"Thrawn is not much of a governor," Isard says, "Though leadership comes naturally to him, he lacks the finesse needed for politics."

You were amused by this assessment, coming from a spy who pretended at being an Empress, but allowed the Director to continue.

"And his power is not as monolithic as it seems. While he is a military leader and a figurehead for his empire, the power behind the scenes is Grand Moff Ardus Kaine. Formerly head of the 'Pentastar alignment' Kaine has thrown his lot in with Thrawn in a bid to rebuild the Empire as they see fit. Politically, they are compatible with our own aims in many respects save one."

"They don't consider me the true emperor," you fill in.

"Whether this is an oversight or a conscious decision, they have not responded to your command for all loyal forces to return. Unless of course you count their seizure of Velusia as a response. And that." Isard says," Is a succinct description of the strategic situation facing us with proposals to follow."

"Would Grand Moff Ardus Kaine be up for any negotiations or avenues to talking at all? Would he be willing to defect at all, to the best of your knowledge?"

Isard gives you a thin smile. "Ardus Kaine is a firm believer in High Human Culture and the New Order. So much so, that he considers these the paramount goals of the empire. During his time with the Empire, Kaine was a true believer. It was that much more surprising when he opted to become an independent warlord rather than stay true to the empire." Isard was careful to avoid specifying if that were her faction, or Sedriss's. I don't have anyone close to him, but it seems to me that Kaine has found something he likes more than the Empire. Or at least that he has no interest in returning to status quo. As the de facto political head of Thrawn's Empire, I'm sure he will talk, but I don't know if he will listen or join us."

"What is the situation on our Maw Installation?"

Isard spreads her hands, "Quite unknown I'm afraid to say. During the Withdrawal, no orders were relayed to the Maw Installation, or if they were, they were since destroyed. We have heard nothing from it. For all we know, the installation is still intact and undiscovered. Unfortunately, it lies deep within Hutt space, which itself is in New Republic space. Getting even a small team there undiscovered could prove quite a challenge."

Thrawn is a smart guy, he's fleet attack is a obvious attemp to drag our forces in that direction, making us fearfull of expanding with so allowing less worlds to be controled by while the him and the rebellion lick wounds.

A long term goal may be to somehow spur Rebel elements or Thrawn to threaten the Brentaal Protectorate and at the same time make friendly overtures to our wayward High Admiral Reddrin. The less we have to fight individual independent Imperial leaders the better.

The more we are seen winning the more likely the rest of the Remnant falls in line.

Long term goal: Improve our espionage intelligence and security from enemy spies. I know we've always had a problem with this from the Rebels, and part of this will be resolved with Komissari.

"What about the situation on the core as a whole? Any renegade worlds or unconquered pockets? We need to solidify our base in the core before confronting Thrawn or the rebels."

"Corellia was Harssk's former base of operation before his death at Coruscant," Isard says, with nary a tear shed for her former comrade in arms, "With his fleet destroyed or captured, Corellia is only held by a skeleton force and would likely fall easily. Otherwise, there is a broad expanse of backwater worlds that may not be worth the ships it would take to subdue them.

"What is Luke Skywalker and the Jedi up to now? Still playing commander?"

>Or we can go on a smaller scale and have a group try assassinate us during a public event and capture their super star destroyers.

That doesn't quite follow. Why would having a group try to assassinate us publicly allow us to capture their SSDs?

We don't need public support to go and kill foul xenos. And the problem with their SSDs is that they will likely fight to the end and will be difficult to capture (our true goal) rather than destroy. A failed assassination attempt would not make capture more likely than it is right now.

We should do this. Specially with enemies at our back. This worlds might be conquered by then or the republic.

"Proceed, Madame Director. I am eager to know what plans the greatest military minds of the Empire have gathered."

Isard smirks at what she interprets as flattery. "At present, we have seven combat fleets, one of which is undergoing repairs after Zahn's engagement at Neimodia. We may undertake multiple plans, provided we have the requisite number of ships."

In addition to your seven combat fleets, you also have your "Command Squadron" consisting of Tarkin and two Allegience-Class Super Star Destroyer escorts. This fleet is currently in orbit of Coruscant, but can be deployed to supplement any portion of the fleet. For simplicity sake, I will typically only allow that through write-in, and it will need at least 3 votes to make it a thing, otherwise your fleet stays with you.

Two of these fleets are deployed facing the rebels, near Kuat, one is in repair, and two are defending Coruscant. Any offensive will likely weaken one or both of these deployments.

"And what of your proposal, Director?" You ask.

"I posit that warships are not the only method we have for speaking with our enemies," she replies.

"Go on."

"For the Rebellion, there's no negotiating with them, they will dismiss any attempts as a trick, and it will undermine your credibility. The warlords may be bribed back, but they are no longer trustworthy. Beyond which, I have my own plans for dealing with them. But Thrawn . . . "

"Negotiate?" you scoff, "With Thrawn?"

"Thrawn is a reasonable man . . . Xeno," Isard corrects herself. "He will be willing to talk with you. If we open negotiations with Thrawn in earnest, it may by us some room to manuever and smash one of our enemies. I recommend either Brentaal or the Yevetha."

"Alternatively, if we open talks with Thrawn, it could drive Reddrin back into our control out of fear by being subsumed by both of us by force. I could also lay some ground work, with enough funding and support, to make inroads into getting agents in Thrawn's command and the Rebellion. We may ultimately even be able to steer the war goals of enemy factions, but it will take some time."

>Operation Strike Hammer
A punitive expedition against the Yevetha in the Negs. Has the benefit of gaining a secure "back yard" for your empire as well as securing a few minor shipyard facilities and, potentially, a fresh supply of slave labor. This would be a brutal campaign of total subjugation, either complete genocide or re-enslavement of the Yevetha. (Requires 3 Fleets)

>Operation Black Fist
Thrawn's hostility in the border regions can't go unanswered. This particular plan has two variations.

Black Fist A involves a buildup in the regions North of Coruscant, anticipating and hopefully discouraging follow up strikes by Thrawn (Requires 2 Fleets)

Black Fist B is more aggressive, and instead mounts a full-scale counter attack against Velusia with intent to recapture the planet. (Requires 2 Fleets)

>Operation Red Moon
The abortive polity of the "Brentaal Protectorate" must be eliminated before it pitches in with a larger neighboring power. The worlds of the Protectorate also are vital in their own right for further expansion in that vicinity. This would be a slog of a campaign and likely each world would have to be taken in succession leading to extensive siege warfare. (Requires 3 fleets)

>Operation Howlrunner
We have the rebels on the back foot near Commenor, if we relinquish pressure now, they may redouble their efforts against us later. We have to strike while they are weak and drive them back further. This will also ideally capture the factory world of Foundry who can provide Kuat with the components needed to increase warship production. (Requires 4 fleets)

>Operation Malestrom
With the Inner Core in our hands, Harssk's former capital world of Corellia lies exposed. Of course, the Rebels could quite easily attack and potentially cut off such a stretch, but the reward of gaining such a vital core world, and access to more hyperlanes may be worth the risk. This would be a mad dash for Corellia before the Rebels can react. (Requires 2 Fleets)

>Isard's Plan
Open peace talks with Thrawn, trust this to stall any efforts he might make to attack you, and strike at an enemy of your choice. Invest heavily in espionage and seek to undermine the Brentaal Protectorate/infiltrate Thrawn's command and the New Republic with spies and agents.

>None
We are stretched thin as is, we would do best to rest and recover our forces.
>>
Vote for as many as you want and can "afford". Whichever combination of plans gets the most votes and still makes sense I will adopt. You can also rest safe that I will deploy the remaining fleet in whatever defensive configuration makes the most sense while attack plans are selected. I'm still experimenting with ways of simplifying and "crowd sourcing" complex strategy so let me know if you have feedback for me doing it like this.

ALSO since it's been brought up a bunch about having a small force gobble up those backwaters. Love it! Great idea, but for that to be a thing, Corellia will have to be taken first so you can have reliable access to those places.

Please ask my for any clarification, and be sure to turn into an angry mob if anything doesn't make sense or suck. I only respond to pitchforks and torches.

Delay can only help us, although Thrawn may see it as a sign of indecisiveness, therefore we should also:
>Black Fist A involves a buildup in the regions North of Coruscant, anticipating and hopefully discouraging follow up strikes by Thrawn (Requires 2 Fleets)

Both as protection against any further attacks and to show Thrawn he is now in our gunsights. Any negotiation without would make us appear weak.

At the same time we could either:
>Operation Howlrunner
We have the rebels on the back foot near Commenor
or
>Operation Malestrom
With the Inner Core in our hands, Harssk's former capital world of Corellia lies exposed.

If we go for Corellia we also unfortunately expand the battle line leaving room for the Rebellion to cut off any Fleet sent there.

However if we go for Commenor, WE may be put in the Rebels gunsights a threat numero uno.
However however, showing that we are making the Rebellion our primary focus may help sway other Imperial Remnants to coming back.

It's a tough call.

Thrawn will be expecting this, he knows Isard well. So while we do this do not count on peace talks to slow him down. Instead follow it up with.

>>Black Fist B is more aggressive, and instead mounts a full-scale counter attack against Velusia with intent to recapture the planet. (Requires 2 Fleets)

The plans for the next leg of your campaign are drawn up. A major feint at Commenor, with a push to seize Corellia. Corellia has long been a black sheep of the core worlds, especially in regards to its fairly spotty relation with the Empire. But no matter, it is a key player in Core World politics, and a gateway to another end of the galaxy. Forces will have to be marshaled, leaders assigned.

The plan, as drawn, has Zahn as overall commander with Admiral Yazz commanding the attack on Corellia and Admiral Oxtroe leading the attack on Commenor.

With the details decided and the next phase of the war underway, it remains to be seen how the enemy will react, and key decisions yet remain to be made about Thrawn, Kaine, and their breakaway empire. Additionally, the fate of the Dark Side still rests in your hands, the Jeslax'raum have been made into rule, but still must take practical effects. Archmage and Grand Inquisitor must still be selected, and dark side users must be . . . Collected for you to expand their ranks.

And most importantly to you, your apprentice-hopeful Mara Jade is nearly ready for her passage into Sithhood, to ascend and become a true Dark Lord. Her final test remains. What sort of Apprentice will Jade be?
