/qst/ - Quests

>Set on the planet of LV226 it is your job to grow and feed in order to survive

Welcome all to Xenomorph Quest! This is something I have been working on weeks now. It will be using a more Giger way to making it's hive via egg morphing and other horrors.
We'll be using a d20 system and only the first three rolls count.

A sudden bolt of energy has ripped you in consciousness and a voice is heard. A silhouette is visible right outside of your egg. The pedals the egg slowly open and a light beams into your home, with a sudden burst of energy you leap onto the persons face and curl your tail 'round their neck. Darkness takes you.

It isn't long before all you see is darkness once more. It is warm and wet now, but a compulsion tells you to begin to push and gnaw the way out of your new found home. Digging into the walls of the wet meat a scream is heard just outside of the walls. You push harder and harder, the compulsion is getting stronger you MUST get outside. Then it happens you rip yourself free of that prison. You practically fly out and land on a floor beside your host. After taking a few minutes of rest you regain your composure and take a look at the one who birthed you.

The one who birthed you lays on the ground with a gaping hole in his chest. Sleep fills your mind and you slither back into the hole and cocoon yourself.

After hours and hours of gestating, molting, and growing the final crack in the cocoon breaks open and you rise out, juices covering your form.

You take in your surroundings and find you're inside of a cave. The walls of the cave are smooth and grey, the ceiling is much more jagged however with stalagmites and jutting forms of rocks everywhere. The floor is gravel and feels soft between your toes. You begin exploring and after a few minutes of walking down a long tunnel you find yourself outside. The cave stands on the slopes of a mountain and a lush forest presents itself to you.

The cave calls back and you follow.

First things first. You devour your host and the egg leaving only blood scraps and embryonic fluid scattered about. Your burbling maw begins to produce a black resin and you start to coat the walls and the floor in the sticky substance. You also construct a small ditch in the ground and lay it with a softer coating. You don't have much time to admire your work however as a large creature struts into the mouth of the cave. It is around 9 feet tall and 7 feet in length. A large mouth takes up most of its face and it has a single eye. It flicks out its tongue and begins to search around. You crawl up onto the wall and study it. It stops when its foot hits the resin and rears back and snarls. Then it places its foot back onto the resin and continues walking until it comes onto where your host original was and begins sniffing and combing through all the torn pieces of clothing.

You flatten yourself deeper into the wall and begin to watch the beast rummage through the scraps of bloody clothing. It eventually sneezes and begins to walk away seemingly disappointed from the lack of food. You fail to learn anything new about it. Dropping yourself down you begin to also rummage through the scraps of clothing to see what attracted the beast. Then you find it. A metal string with a bipedal creature on a T. The creature looks like your host but different. No matter, you throw the metal string on your nest and stalk to the mouth of the cave still wary of the beast that intruded in your home.

The forest presents itself again, but this time you step foot into it.
The ground squelches as you walk on the wet forest floor. Sunlight attempts to penetrate the thick canopy but only small slivers make it through. You see many more smaller beats while walking. You also see many bigger creatures grazing on many of the plants around you. This is still no safe place you are practically flattened against the ground the entire time. The forest comes to an end to reveal a large clearing. A large red boxlike thing sits by the edge of the forest and large fields of a yellow plant are everywhere. Another boxlike thing is there, it sits by the red one, but this one is smaller and blue in color. More beats patrol the grounds.

The boxthings are taller than they appeared from far off. The red one towers around 30 feet tall while the blue one is a mere 18 feet. The red one has many differing types of beasts inside and the yellow plants seem to stretch as far as the eye can see. You'll have to come back to this place in a later time.

The sun is setting and the forest grows dark. This doesn't stop you from exploring further. There isn't much variation in the forest, it's mostly flat with some small streams and the rare hill. Quite boring really. The only thing that seems to change is the wildlife, but even that is still samey. It's just different versions of the same small beast with scales. Even the ground has the same texture through and through.

Get to high ground and see if you can find any landmarks
Maybe the top of a tree?
>>
If you are to properly map this area you'll need high ground. The only high ground that you've seen however are some rare tall trees and the mountain you live in. Luckily enough you passed a tall tree not so long ago. You backtrack and find your way back to the tree. The climb is nothing and you reach the top in a matter of moments. You see a large range of hills in the far distance and plumes of smoke. What ever is out there is big. The sun is setting however and it is getting even darker so the view is short lived. Scurrying down you notice something new in this forest for once. The beast that invaded your home is roaming on the forest floor. Or well one of them is.

Maybe it's best not to tangle with this beast right now. You try to stealthily leap from your perch, but stumble and make a ruckus in the canopy. The beast snaps its head up and screams at you. You might be fast, but it's faster. You are safe for now in the trees, but not only is it keeping up, it's even getting farther than you. It then takes a sudden sharp turn and tries to leap into the canopy. It fails non the less and you manage to put a small amount of ground between you and the predator. This is short lived however and it catches back up snapping at you with its large jaws.

This isn't going well. You'll need to slow this beast down before you can hope to even get away. You dig your claws into the bark and make a full stop then launch yourself out of the canopy. The beast has no time to react as your tail impales itself on the creatures haunches. The beast and you are thrown several feet on impact, taking this time you scramble in the foliage and flatten yourself down into the wet ground as flat as possible and begin to stalk away from the beast who is now yapping all around itself in a circle. This may be your chance to finish it off.

After a solid few minutes of yapping the beast seems to calm down. It then lays down and begins to lick its wound, and it seems to be drinking its own blood and spitting it back into the wound. After a while the beast rises to its feet and the wound has completely sealed. It begins to walk away from you now.

The sun is down completely now and the forest is alive with the sounds of life now. More and more creatures of size seem to come out at night as well.

This could be a time to test your own hunting prowess. The forest has since quieted down, but sounds of animals can still be heard in clarity. While most things in the forest may be small scaled beasts new ones emerge in the night. Four legged beasts around 12 feet tall grazing on trees stalk the forest. They seem harmless enough, makes for perfect prey. Like a shadow you saunter into a nearby bush and wait for the first opportunity. A beast stands not so far away munching to its hearts content.
The beast soon after steps away from the tree, having its fill of leaves. It begins to turn away in search for a resting ground. This is when you strike. You fly out of the bushes and leap on its back sinking your claws into its blubbery flesh, you then raise your tail and slam it into the creatures back making it rear up in an attempt to shake you off. It fails and begins to stumble.

Blood is gushing from the Stalkers wound causing it stumble and wave around. You take this time to finish the thing. You use the full force of your body and jump onto the Stalkers head pinning it to the forest floor. It weakly tries to fight back, you rear up your tail and stab it into the beasts head. It whines and looks up at you with those big sad eyes, you then bring your tail back up and stab those
big sad eyes making the creature scream. You repeat this until the Stalkers head is nothing but mush.

You leave the lump of bloody pulp on the ground, hoping it will attract more beasts for the meat grinder, but only the smaller scaled ones take interest and pick off small scraps for themselves. Still, you could look for an opportunity among the mess-- you identify a few smaller animals unfamiliar to you, but nothing of interest.
You begin to doze off.

Quiet speaking stirs you from your slumber and you see two bipedal creatures with clothing not unlike your host looking upon your pile of carnage.

"Jesus fuck Ben what'd you think done this?"

The bipeds continue to talk about the dead Stalker in length.

"Well what ever did this might still be 'round the kill still fresh."

"Pap said the worst thing out here would be the Crawlers...and we got guns so..." he trails off into mumbling.

You deduce they are of younger stock judging by their size and lack of chin hair. They seem harmless enough. You step out of the bush and make a soft hiss, both bipeds quickly turn and point their metal sticks at you.

"Ben the fuck is that!"

"Fuck if I know!"

Both of them are now yelling at you in an attempt to try and scare you off, you simply outstretch your inner jaw in response. One of them jumps back.

"Did you just see that Carl!"

You cock you head and hiss. One of them points their stick in the air and uses it. The sound of it is deafening and you jump back a little bit.

"Ye! Go on git!" he waves his hand in an attempt to drive you off.

You begin waving back with an ecstatic hiss to match! They seem disturbed.

The bipeds continue to speak to each other metal sticks still pointed at you.
Malformed and rather hasty thoughts fill your mind.

Communication. Able to do? Me? (Communicate what? Attacked meat. Carl and Ben made of meat. Do not communicate that.) Loud stick communication? (Danger?) Emergency: scream loudly. Scared them, may scare again.) (Other communications: smoke, trees, landscape, purpose?

Their bickering interrupts your train of thought and you stand up to reveal your full height.

"Mother of god... Ben manages to choke out before dropping his gun.

Carl only stares at you unmoving. Finally your inner jaw extends out and you begin to "speak".
