>You are Princess Zelda, heir to the fallen throne of Hyrule

>Your father, corrupted by Power, died in a coup, your Kingdom shattered in a civil war 10 years ago, the Hero in Green giving his life to ensure you escaped the conflict

>An uneasy peace has returned to the land, but omens of a descent into greater chaos than before loom on the horizon

>You, Zelda Hyrule, have the potential to claim your birthright and restore the Kingdom to what it once was, bring back true peace to the lands. Your path ahead is not set in stone; you must chisel it in yourself. What kind of Legend will you create?

The three blades are in your possession. Servants of the Sword that Seals Darkness. One step closer to retrieving Evil’s Bane. Hyrule’s future counts on you finally retrieving it. You may not be the Hero in green, but you are Princess Zelda. And with Sheik and Aveli at your side, the three of you will greet the dawn with the thing Ganon fears most.

“Are you ready, Z?” Aveli asks with a confident grin.

>A. I am. Let us move on to retrieve the sword

“I am, but I do not like that the Darknuts have been so quiet. We should keep our eyes open and, if possible, seek them out before they try something.”

“Ahh that’s music to my ears.” Aveli comments. “Pups better get ready.”

“Princess, what if they have left?” Sheik questions.

You shake your head. “No, they’re planning something. Let us be on the move.”

The three of you rush back to the central room, and the first thing you notice are... three strange structures with large, odd keyholes on the fronts of them right before the door. Keyholes... large enough to fit your swords.

Well, they haven’t been back here yet. But there’s a good chance they’re in one of the three rooms you haven’t explored yet...

>A. Open the locks and bait the Darknuts into showing themselves

“Aveli, Shiek, I believe that the Farore room might be the best bet for us. We should hurry along; the Darknuts might be trying something.”

They both nod, walking with you towards the door. Sheik, blade in hand, opens it and, unlike the previous rooms that seemed to take you down a path below, this one leads to a stairway headed upwards. Sheik’s sword glows softly as you all reach the room above... and spot some Darknuts and what looks to be a Wosu trying to figure out a puzzle.

“Hylian rubbish is what this is.” one of the Darknuts comments. “I don’t see what the Prince hopes to gain from this.”

“And that is because you cannot see what he sees. That the Goddesses will bless the worthy. That the Hylians have fallen from their favor. That these lands will be united by someone with honor, not some backstabbing human trash. Now think this through.

When darkness falls
Courage, guide you
Light, meets you
Hold your blade... skyward?”

...Curious.

“Sheik, sneak around and try to find where your sword shines brightest. We’ll take these three on.” you state quietly, blade in hand.

“Be careful.” she requests, moving silently.

You take a slow walk towards the three monsters, your magic flowing into your sword. “If you wish to know the riddle’s answer, I shall give it to you.” You fiercely swing your blade at one of the Darknuts, the Sword Beam crashing into its armor and cracking it, the canine beast falling over.

The other two try to ready themselves as Aveli comes rushing at the one you damaged, bringing her sword down hard on the monster. The remaining Darknut attempts to engage her, and you manage to hit it with another Sword Beam. The Wosu, however, keeps its focus on you, its blade... glowing?

The two of you have a quick draw against one another, the monster shooting out a Sword Beam of its own as you fire yours. Your foe’s blast just barely misses you as yours hits it in the shoulder, the monster howling in pain but standing its ground.

“Tricky little Hylian. So... it seems our time here is limited.” It gives a horrid, telling grin. “But is yours!”

“We will see the light of dawn today. I can not promise the same for you.”

The Wosu dashes at you, shield raised in an attempt to knock you off balance, blade ready to thrust. You manage to roll out of his way and quickly fire out another Sword Beam while you get behind the monster, hitting it in the back of the neck. You then spin around and fire another Sword Beam at the Darknut you first injured, hitting it in the chest after Aveli smashes its armor apart, the swing of her blade dazing the remaining Darknut. You finish this off by moving forward, giving one last thrust of your Sword Beam and aiming right for the monster’s face. It hits true and knocks it down!

...and as you do, you trip and fall, attack still connecting, but it clearly was not the swift motion you had in mind. You brace yourself in time to prevent any serious physical damage. But your pride feels like it took another hit.

“...Princess, are you injured?” Sheik asks hesitantly. You can hear Aveli trying to hold back a giggle. Well... you at least have no more enemies to worry about.

“Whoever gave us the ability to trip is a cruel being.” you grumble out in a pouty tone, a person’s name coming to your mind to blame for this. Aveli’s attempts at holding back her giggling fail, and she lets out a hearty laugh. “Laugh it up Aveli. You’ve made your mistakes too.”

“Guilty as charged, Z.” the young Gerudo replies. “That was kinda funny though. Right Sheik?”

“...I am just glad you are not harmed.” the Sheikah states, looking away.

You finally get yourself up off the ground. “Sheik, what have you found?”

She moves some distance away, in a darker corner of the room, raising her sword up towards the ceiling. The blade shines brightly, revealing... well, what seems to be a target. The brick above Sheik is an illusion.

You got a [Spare Bottle]! That brings your total up to 3!

And it looks like there’s a note inside...

[To the Hero of Times to Come,

Sharp eye! Congrats on getting this far. These things are more durable than they look, you’d be surprised by the kind of magic they can fling back. Try it some time if you’re out of options!

Signed,]

...there is no name to it. This is just like the other note, but the ink here... it’s not worn. It’s thick, sharp. Couldn’t be more than a few years old. The lack of name almost seems to be done because they were in a hurry. Handwriting looks similar to the one you read before, too...

“...Huh! Left-handed.” Aveli comments.

“Pardon?”

“Whoever wrote this was left-handed.” she clarifies. “Look how they use their margins. It’s subtle, but there’s a difference in how they write. They have to consciously avoid smudging words when writing, for example. You can see some bits of it on this paper whi-” She stops herself in the middle of her explanation, noticing Sheik’s stare. “...what?”

“I... must apologize, I just did really expect this from you.” she replies, rubbing the back of her neck.

“Mom’s left-handed. And a few others I know.”

A strange detail... but regardless, you now have an extra bottle.

“In any case, we should be going. There may still be more monsters out there.” you comment, heading towards the door. “I feel we should try the Din room first.”

“Sure thing, Z.”

“Your sword may reveal something in there as well, Aveli, like mine did here.” Sheik comments.

“Ah, right! I’ll keep my eyes open.” she replies, walking along behind you.

The main room is thankfully empty, and looks like no one tried to tamper with the locks. As you reach the Din room, heading up the flight of stairs... sure enough, Aveli’s blade gives off a soft glow. But looks like someone was waiting for you up there.

And they start by clapping.

“I figured that ruckus was you.” a familiar voice calls out. “So... you have cleared out all the little traps and tricks. You found what is needed to retrieve the blade. The blade I will claim.” The Darknut Prince declares. “The blade I will use to bring my people to glory.” He stands tall, flanked by Wosu. Behind them is... a smashed and shattered pillar with writing all over it. The Darknut Prince points his sword at you directly. “The blade I will use to bring back the Dark Lord and finish what he started: wiping you Hylian scum from the face of this world!”

“Your kind gave up the right to make such claims when you started your pathetic war. Ganon’s actions were those of mercy, putting down a rabid beast.” he howls in retort. “Our cause is just! And the Goddesses know it!”

“Your bark is worse than your bite, pup.” Aveli adds. “You failed to stop us before, and this time you will be put down.”

The Darknut Prince slashes a Sword Beam at you, but you manage to bring up your shield in time to block it, returning fire with youw own Sword Beam and striking it in the shoulder and breaking the armor there. You then quickly pull out a bomb and toss it at the monsters, damaging them all and scattering them.

Aveli rushes one of the Wosu, her massive sword clashing with the monster’s smaller blade as Sheik moves around to engage the other, skillfully moving out of the way of it as she slashes with her sword. The Darknut Prince guards its exposed shoulder with its shield moving towards you slowly.

You move out of the way of a fierce stab as you bring your Hookshot out, latching on to the Darknut’s shield and fiercely yanking it away as the Hookshot retracts. The monster quickly positions itself defensively, its oversized blade ready to guard against your next attack.

Aveli meanwhile keeps pace with her more nimble but lightly armored opponent, shattering its shield as it tries to move away from her. Sheik meanwhile clashes with the other Wosu, dodging its attacks and retaliating, her superior agility putting the monster on edge. You notice, however, out of the corner of your eye, each time Aveli swings her sword, something behind the broken pillar in the back of the room seems to move. Could be another statue...

That movement is suspicious... but the Darknut is not going to let you get to it easily. Luckily, you have an option for that. “Hey, Prince. Think fast!” you shout, moving away and flinging a bomb at the monster. It tries to dodge out of the way, but the bomb explodes and knocks it down, allowing you a brief moment of cover.

As you reach the shattered pillar... you realize that it shattered on top of something. A statue. An arm is broken off of it, and the face and cap are damaged, but aside from that, it’s intact. And moving. And... it’s him. The... the Hero who saved you.

You see Sheik and Aveli still fighting their foes, the Wosu the Sheikah girl faces knocking her off-balance with a bash of its shield and just narrowly missing her gut with a ferocious slash, leaving a scratch on her side. But Sheik retaliates just in time, stabbing the monster in the throat as she’s in close range. Aveli meanwhile backs away from a stab aimed at her leg, then knocks the monster aside with a ferocious swing of her blade.

...And the statue moves as she attacks.

The Darknut Prince starts to charge at you, body glowing slightly, Sheik momentarily distracting him with a needle to the shoulder, but he makes a retaliatory slash at her, grazing her arm and forcing her away. But as he retaliates against her, you use the Power Gloves to pick up and fling the chunk of the pillar holding down the statue of the Hero and toss it at the monster. “AVELI! GUIDE HIM!” you command, helping the statue stand.

The Gerudo girl catches on to your request quickly, holding her blade up in the air and then pointing it at the Darknut Prince, the Hero’s statue springing to action!

You swiftly move to give both Aveli and the statue some cover, bringing out your crossbow and firing a pair of bolts at your foes. The Wosu fighting Aveli manages to stab through her armor, getting at her arm, but your bolt comes just in time to prevent it from dealing a more serious blow, Aveli delivering one last slash of her own and bringing the monster down.

The statue meanwhile makes its charge at the Darknut Prince, but the damage it already sustained puts it at a disadvantage against the monster. The Darknut, with its soft glow around it, moves at a blistering speed, easily able to dodge and parry the statue’s initial attacks and retaliate by bringing a quick slash at its leg. You manage to get the monster in the shoulder with your crossbow bolt, distracting it long enough to for the Hero’s statue to slash its stone sword across the monster’s back, a large portion of its armor falling off of it. Aaaand you nearly trip again, at least managing to brace yourself instead of faceplanting, ending up lying next to Sheik.

The Darknut stumbles slightly. And... it looks odd. The glowing persists beyond the armor’s removal. “...You all have made a grave mistake.” It... then starts moving towards the doorway.

You push yourself up off the ground. “Ganon, the phantom you follow, is not some justified hero traveling down a righteous path. The Hylians made no betrayal of your kind, and while the war was a tragedy, a mistake, something that should never have happened, allying with a phantom of hate like Ganon is only going to cause your people more pain and suffering!”

“LIAR!” the monster barks out, still backing up. Aveli readies herself, Sheik moving to defend you. “Your kind started that damn war! Your kind forefitted your right to this land! Your kind will fall into the dustbin of history!”

Aveli points her sword forward. “Pup, I think it’s about time for you to be put down.”

You hold your arm out, shaking your head, confusing the Gerudo girl. “If you truly care for your people, rethink your allegiance to Ganon and whoever supports him. You must have seen it in this Temple, the history, the darkness that has plagued these lands time and time again, and the heroes that stood against it.”

“Histories invalidated by your people’s actions. Histories written by victors that proved themselves to be filth. Histories that will be corrected when your kind is wiped out!”

You look to him critically. “Histories that include Evil’s Bane. Do you still believe the sword will choose you?”

The Darknut Prince snarls. “My cause is just, Hylian. And I WILL bring my people to glory with it!”

“You know that’s not true. Your mind doubts it even now. Please, for your people’s sake and your own, rethink your allegiance to Ganon.” you plead, eyes filled with pity.

The monster finally reaches the doorway, then howls and bolts off, refusing to argue further. Aveli relaxes herself, but asks you critically, “Why did you let him go?”

“A show of mercy, especially when a foe knows they are beaten, is something Impa has tried to instill within me since I was young. More and more I start to see why she did so. He will leave with his tail between his legs.” You look to her with a soft smile. “Besides, our goal is Evil’s Bane. With our foes driven from this Temple, we can retrieve it in peace.”

“While I doubt he will heed your words, Princess, I... can appreciate your sentiment.” Sheik states.

Just let's make sure the temple is clear of monsters before we get the sword. I wouldn't put past that Mask's merchant to put a trap that would activate as soon as we unlock the way to the sword, turning a weak monster into something even the Hero in Geeen would have trouble with. After all this sword is very dangerous for his plans."

You look down the doorway. “Now... I just hope the blade will accept us. The Hero in Green is always the one who wields it in legends.”

“We may just have to see.” Aveli states, looking to the statue, letting out a curious noise.

“Indeed. That may be the last of the monsters, but we should not drop our guard. That blade is a great danger to the plans of the Man with Masks. He may still have something awaiting us.”

“Hrm... maybe...” Aveli takes a moment moving the statue around with her sword. Getting to the doorway, the glow of her blade ceases, the statue becoming still once more. “Aww. Can’t take it with us.”

“The statues seem designed for certain trials. The Darknut must have broken the one in this room, though.” Sheik comments. “In any case, shall we go straight for the sword, Princess? Or shall we look to the Nayru room?”

“Let us not delay in retrieving the sword. Evil’s Bane is our goal here, given what the Darknuts just went through.”

Aveli shoulders her sword and nods. “Makes sense. Let’s go, Z.”

The three of you travel back to the central room one more time, thankfully without any surprises waiting for you. You, Sheik, and Aveli all stand at the respective slots for your swords, and the three of you push each one in. Loud clicks, sounds of gears turning, and the locks on the main door opening up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K23q0iGkDvM

...And there it is. Evil’s Bane. The Sword that Seals Darkness. In an area of the Temple that, while still mostly closed off, has foliage and even trees around it. You’ve found it at last.

...

Something’s not right about this. You feel an eerie sense of dread as you walk to it. Nothing is around... but you feel a slight warmth in your hand. Sheik and Aveli look to you, the little Gerudo telling you, “Honor’s all yours to try.”

You back up slightly and draw your sword, putting on the Mask of Truth. You see...

...

The blade is “real” but its colors suddenly become dulled, its edge blunt. This... this can’t be Evil’s Bane. Ah, but that’s not all you see. There’s this... puddle of something moving around. Moving... it’s condensing at the pedestal!

“Whatever you are, show yourself! I will not be fooled by such a trick!” you demand. The pedestal is engulfed in black fluids, a pair of red, glowing eyes popping up at the hilt of the blade. For a moment... it almost looks like a Chuchu. But it quickly reshapes itself, the dark fluid covering the sword and forming... a body.

A body like many of the statues from before, though lacking any features save the piercing red eyes.

You quickly attempt to cast Din’s Fire at the shadowy creature, but not only does it almost effortlessly dodge out of the way, it retaliates with a fierce slash that only barely misses your neck, getting at your shoulder a bit and knocking you backwards.

[Hearts: 6.5/9]

“Z!”

“PRINCESS!”

Aveli attempts to rush the creature but its agility is a league above her own, parrying her attempt at slashing it and knocking her down. Sheik, however, grapples the shadowy force and keeps it away from you. You’ve got one shot at this...

You move away, then bring out your harp and play the Song of Time, hoping it reveals the location of the true blade to you. As Sheik struggles to keep the shadowy warrior away from you, the notes echo through the chamber.

https://youtu.be/mf_-rCTbwKc

You hear... yet more clicking sounds coming from some distance away. And then it sounds like a large section of stone starts moving. But before you can investigate, Sheik is finally thrown off the creature, its piercing red eyes staring into your soul. You wince slightly as you hold your sword, preparing for the worst.

It starts to run at you, its footsteps making strange, squishing sounds as it runs. But you hear... footsteps behind you. A green blur flashes at the shadow...

You stand beside her, the warmth in your hand growing stronger as you spot a faint flow coming from the back of her left hand, and simply tell the young woman, “Thank you, Hero.”

She nods. You get a brief moment to look her over. She seems... maybe a few years older than you, but she’s a slight bit shorter. Build is more like Sheik’s, but her features feel... strangely familiar. Aveli seems almost awestruck by the girl’s arrival, Sheik readying herself but even she seems to drop a bit of her stoic demeanor. The Hero points the Master Sword at the shadowy beast... and then thrusts forward briefly, firing a Sword Beam from it.

The shadow monster attempts to dodge, but the beam blasts straight into its body, knocking it back again. You then get an idea. After bringing out your harp again, you command, “Girls, help her as best you can! We will take this thing down together!”

“Don’t have to tell me twice, Z!” Aveli shouts, charging the creature again, this time the Belt of Winds allowing her to catch up to it and successfully clash with the foe. It backs away from her and attempts to charge towards you again, but you successfully stop it in its tracks as you play the Song of Healing. As you strum the notes, you see the shadowy fluid crack and flake away from the blade.

Sheik uses this opportunity to strike at the foe, carving a chunk of its shield away with her sword and arm with her blade. The shadows flake away as they’re separated from the main body, the creature taking the brief moment it has once your song ends to get out of harm’s way.

The shadowy mass starts to reform the chunk of arm and shield, Aveli and Sheik again clashing with it and trying to knock it back down. It manages to hold its own, though it takes some damage. It notices you try to play the Song of Healing once more, then pushes past the girls to lunge at you.

Just as it seems like it’s about to strike at you before you can get a single note out, the Hero’s shield covers you, pushing back the shadowy creature. The surprise of the clash causes you to strum a few wrong notes at first, but you regain your composure and play the full Song of Healing once more.

The monster is stunned, and you put away your harp, bringing out both your Servant Sword of Nayru, and your original sword. You and the Hero look each other in the eyes. A single word escapes your lips. “Together?”

She nods. You both dash at the monster as more of the dark liquid flakes off the sword it stole, letting out a cry of “HHRRAAAHHH!” as you run. You get to the shadow being first, leading with an itial strike from your original sword at its side, then slashing it across the chest with the Sword of Nayru. However, even as you slash at it, the monster still manages to trip you up and nearly brings the sword down at you as you fall... the Hero dropping her shield to catch you and bring you out of harm’s way, using the momentum from her action to plant the glowing Master Sword right in the monster’s chest.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HD87Ixy9p8

Evil’s Bane more than lives up to its title as the monster of shadows crumbles and fades away, dropping the sword it stole. She then helps you stand... but your legs tremble slightly and you almost fall again, the girl catching you once more, giggling softly. “N-not my most impressive moment, I admit.” you tell the girl.

“But not the worst fall you’ve made in this dungeon.” Aveli adds teasingly.

“Must you?” you ask, cheeks reddening. The Hero’s giggle turns into a genuine laugh. “...You must forgive me, but, what is your name, Hero?”

She helps you stand again, her laughter ceasing as she dusts herself off. After giving a curtsy, she tells you in a soft voice, “I’m Linkle.”

You return in kind. “It is nice to finally meet you, Linkle.”

“Some things never change... though, a bit of a surprise to see you here though, Princess.” she comments, putting away the Master Sword.

“...is it that obvious?” you ask shyly, Aveli and Sheik moving to you, the young Gerudo removing her helmet. From just the look on her face alone, you can tell there are a thousand questions racing through her head. Sheik is silent, but even she seems to be curious of the Hero’s presence here. “Though, more to the point... are... are you the Hero I have seen so much about? The Hero from more than a hundred years prior?”

She rubs the back of her neck. “I mean... I guess so? Wow is Onox gonna love listening to this...”

“Onox...” Aveli repeats, the name now bringing a thousand more questions to her mind.

So it is her. “Linkle... how did you get here?”

“I was asked to come here to help the next Hero, when they arrive at the Temple. Seems you brought her here yourself, Princess. Heh, as proactive as my Zelda.” she replies to you sweetly. “So... is this her?” she asks, pointing to Shiek.

Sheik looks to her in surprise. “P-pardon?”

The Hero raises an eyebrow. “You know, the next Hero.”

Sheik shakes her head. “I am sorry to disappoint you, I am Sheikah, servant to and protector of the Princess. I am not the Hero.”

Linkle seems confused, then looks to Aveli. “...Wait, so it’s a Gerudo next? Agh dang it now I owe Onox 40 Rupees...”

“I-I’m flattered,” the little Iron Knuckle comments. “But I’m... I mean, at least I don’t think I am? Is there something you have to do for it?”

You finally butt in. “Linkle... if you mean your next reincarnation, we do not know who they are. The Hero of our time...” You look away as you feel a jolt of shame travel down your back. “...Gave his life to save mine.”

“Reinc-” she starts, confused, but realizes what you mean. A sadness washes over her face. “...You’ve been doing all of this on your own? Then...” Her fists clench tight, brows furling. Linkle lets out an angry shout, “VIOL YOU LYING SON OF A LYNEL!”

>Viol may have... stretched the truth on some things.

What he said was true. From a...certain point of view.

"Even if the hero was reborn as soon as it died, it would be too young to take on Ganon right now. So we have been... acting as distractions. Besides long ago, wasn't it three heroes? A hero of power, a hero of wisdom and a hero of courage? Who says the hero in green has to do it all alone?"
>>
>>1406939
...Wait. Waaaaaait just a second.

Might Viol actually be the Mask Salesman?

Linkle does indeed have Crossbows.

>>1407941
Indeed.

>>1408003
Oooh, like that...

>>1408534
We'll just have to see won't we?

Anyway, sorry about that delay, hit some traffic coming home. We're back!

Linkle walks to the pedestal that was holding the sword, sitting down on it and sighing out loudly as she hangs her head. “Well this is just great. Oooh when I get my hands on that little jerk...”

You approach her. “Linkle, I... even if the Hero was reborn the day he fell defending me, they would be quite young. Perhaps too young to take on Ganon right now. As much as I’ve done to try and save Hyrule on my own... we are most likely little more than distractions to the goals of the one trying to bring chaos back to these lands.”

She shakes her head. “So I guess the Temples didn’t explain it that clearly. Princess, the Spirit of the Hero doesn’t always appear to the next of us as a newborn.” She holds out her left hand... the soft glow of the Triforce on the back of it, the Triforce of Courage glowing brightest. “This didn’t appear to me until after... well, I guess you could call it my ‘adventure’ started. Heh... seems so distant now... Ah, what I mean is... a previous Hero doesn’t necessarily have to die for the next one to show themselves. Nor does it mean the spirit passes directly from death to birth. It... I guess you could say it comes to the one best suited for stopping whatever threat arises.”

Sheik looks at her in mild shock. “Y-you mean the Hero could already be among us, ready to fight?”

“The point is that Viol... argh! He told me he knew the Hero! He told me that he needed my help in training them! He told me that the Hero would be safe and...” Her eyes, filled with sadness, look right at yours. “...I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be shouting all this at you three.” She hugs her legs to her chest, looking back down. “I... don’t like being lied to.”

“...Weren’t there two more Heroes of your time? You didn’t have to go it alone, correct?” you question, trying to get her mind off this. “Your Zelda, and the Rebel King...”

Linkle snorts out a laugh. “Onox, really? Dork... though I guess there’s some truth to that title. And... yes, kinds. Queen Zelda, the Hero of Wisdom. King Onox, the Hero of Power. And myself, the Hero of Courage. The farm girl rubbing shoulders with royalty...”

You sit down next to her. “Linkle... I recall seeing the Beast of Power trapped beneath the Temple of Din.”

Her head jolts up. “Still? Agh... well, that’s both good and bad, I guess...”

“How so?” Sheik questions, giving a slightly suspicious squint.

“That means this Ganon of yours doesn’t have all his dark powers back. All the hatred and malice from countless generations, the curse of a dark god, is still trapped within there... but it’s also still just that, trapped there.” She rubs her head. “I’m sorry... it’s the one thing we just couldn’t stop, and something that your generation still has lying under your feet...”

“Eh, still sounds like you guys did more than we could have.” Aveli comments.

“You have done more than enough for our generation. Do not blame yourself for that single thing.” you tell the young woman with a sweet smile. “Ah... if you don’t mind my prying, what... was, er, is your Zelda like?”

She looks up, fond memories clearly racing through her head. “One of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. Beautiful, wise, cunning, caring, sweet, loyal, dedicated to her duties... but a woman who always looked to the intent of them rather than the letter. And... well, more than a little selfish at times. We’d have our arguments sometimes, but wow was it ever hard to argue with her.”

“Is that all?” Sheik questions, a sharp, almost defensive glare directed at Linkle.

“W-what do you mean? Oh, uh... is it about Gustaf?”

Now that name rings a bell. “Ah, I remember... the letter mentioning him. And... she abdicated the throne to him, didn’t she?”

Linkle’s face goes a bright red. “L-letter? YOU READ THAT...? SHE -SAVED- THAT...? GAH!” The young woman hides her face with her green, pointed hoodie. “...She... she abdicated only a few days before I ended up here. Like I said... she’s... a little selfish. She loved... her people, but she hated being stuck chained to her throne, so to speak...”

You should probably try not to embarrass the Hero any further, especially given the very critical glare Sheik is giving the poor girl. “I see... what of King Onox? The Gerudo of our time do not seem to know much about him...” you mention, looking to an increasingly curious Aveli. “What was he like?”

“Bold, brash, handsome, headstrong at times, but his heart’s always in the right place. He’s a real hero, one of my closest friends, from the moment I met him near here, at my home town of Katsuo. I... don’t think his people much liked seeing him always running off to help us, though. Maybe something happened to him after I left...”

“That’s a shame.” Aveli comments. “Our King died as an infant... ah...” She gives you an awkward glance.

Well, that’s one more thing to worry about... though, there’s a more pressing question. You stand and reach your hand out to her. “Well Linkle, I am Princess Zelda Hyrule, heir to the fallen throne, and... I would guess, the next Hero of Wisdom. My allies, Aveli Draggai and Sheik, and others, have journeyed with me to try and save Hyrule from the coming darkness... may I request your help in saving Hyrule once again?”

She looks up to you... and with an apologetic sigh, informs you, “I can’t leave the Temple of Time while I’m in your... er, time. After hearing all of this though I wish I could.”

>A. Is there any way you might be able to?
>B. If we bring Viol to you, do you think you could work something else?
>C. Then, what of the Master Sword? Is it “ours” or “yours?”
>D. Could you give us some of the training you were to going to give the Hero, at least?

"I do think I remember one of the heroes in green being able to leave a certain temple after time traveling, but it was just ten years not a hundred. And I think him time traveling was a plan by the forces of Evil or something like that. But I guess two heroes of green can't exist in the same time period? Yes that makes sense. Could you train us? We still have to visit other temples and I almost died in this one a few times."
>>
>>1409182
“Is there any way we might be able to? Could we arrange something with Viol, or...”

“I’d need something made of Timeshift Stone, like the Temple.” she states. “The only way I could leave here is with one of those. I would have no idea where to get something like that though...”

“Timeshift Stone?” Sheik starts. “There... shouldn’t be any left in all of Hyrule. Only a few treasures of the Royal Family should be left.”

You rub your forehead. “Impa didn’t save many treasures when we escaped. Not something one really focuses on while running for their lives... by the way, is... that blade in your hands the Master Sword that belongs to... is it ‘yours’ or ‘ours’?”

“I was supposed to hand it to the Hero once the training was complete...” she tells you, looking to the replica on the floor.

“...What about that Sky Temple place?” Aveli speculates. “Maybe they have some time rocks?”

Sheik thinks it over. “...It’s possible. Or, we could search the ruins of Hyrule Castle...”

“Ruins?” Linkle repeats. “How bad did this get?”

“...Civil War, partially my father’s fault. Hyrule Castle is in disrepair...” you respond lowly.

The young woman crosses her arms. “Agh... well, if it’s your best shot...”

“Did Viol really not mention any of that to you?” you question.

“He made it sound like it was just a minor thing! He made me believe that we’d done everything right, that... that...” Linkle looks away. “That this time it would be different... better, not worse...”

“Can’t prepare for everything, I guess... but at the same time, guess you guys have saved our bacon a few times already. Dunno what it would be like if you didn't make all these preparations.”

Linkle makes a curious noise. “...Princess, question.”

“Yes?”

She gives you a slightly more serious stare then you expect. “Pigs or cuccos?”

>A. Why do you ask?

“D-Do you mean foes you’ve faced? Because Darknuts take the cake for me. Nearly died twice facing them and-”

“No no, pigs or cuccos.” Linkle repeats.

“C-cuccos?” you respond nervously.

“Hah! Knew it!” the young woman states with a mild bit of smug satisfaction. “We can call that even when I get back...”

“L-Linkle, if you don’t mind me asking... aside from the Master Sword, which tools do you tend to prefer?”

“Ah, well, my trusty crossbow!” she starts off, revealing... well now, it’s a white crossbow made of a strange material. Not... wood, but not metal either. She then finally notices your own weapon hanging our from your poncho. “...Aha, and I see you’ve got one too. Never could get my Zelda to switch over to them, in spite of how useful they are.”

“Impa trained me to use one. It has served me well for many years.”

“Nice, nice. And... ah, should have brought my boots... I mean these are nice, but you wouldn’t believe the kind of damage I can do with the Pegasus Boots.” she tells you, seemingly stopping herself before she makes a... rather uncooth joke, given the look on her face.

“If you’re able to... might there be some things you can teach us?” you question, offering your hand again.

“I can try. And... Princess?” She takes your hand this time, standing with you. “Thank you for going out of your way for all of this. I can’t imagine the hardship you’ve been through from what little I’ve heard. But you’ve been strong.”

You look to Sheik and Aveli. “I haven’t done this alone. My allies, my friends, are the ones I have to thank for this.”

Linkle gives your hand a firm shake. “Now... who’s ready to save Hyrule?”

All right folks, that's it for this thread. Sorry for the updates slowing down, been battling a massive headache and I might need to get some rest early. I’ll be around for a bit for questions and such though. Did y’all have fun?
>>
>>1409663
Tons of fun Kato! The Temple of Time has been great, Linkle made one hell of an impression, and I'm glad that she can kinda stick around with us.

>pigs or cuccos
What even is this about? Did.. we just decide on our orientation?
>>
>>1410226
I think it's about timelines. Cucoos means this is either child OOT timeline or defeated OOT timeline. Pigs would mean adult OOT timeline because in WW pogs fill the same role cucoos did, the thing that is totally harmless until you attack it and are swarmed to death.
>>
>>1410226
Not quite.

>>1410879
Closer, but not quite. It'll be important later though.
