First three choose race and terrain.

You are a race of creatures created by, and living in one of the many floors of The Dungeon. Your choice of terrain will be the dominant terrain for this Floor, but other Floors may be wildly different.

>Stats
Breeding determines how quickly your race spawns and respawns, and the Floor unit cap for your race.

Melee determines how well you fight with Melee weapons, and the maximum level of Melee weapons your race can equip. Also determines your base defense against Melee attacks.

Ranged works like Melee, but for Ranged weapons. Ranged weapons do less damage than Melee weapons on average. Also determines defense against Ranged attacks.

Magic determines what type of Magic you can equip. Equipping a type of magic will often change your type conferring bonuses and weaknesses. Also determines the strength of your magic and defense against magic.
(Some magic will require a Melee or Ranged roll)

Technology is useful for building and detecting traps, and determines the best equipment your race naturally produces. Also effects accessory limits.

Diplomacy affects party size, trade, and your diplomatic interaction with other races. Also determines whether or not you can accept a certain race into your Hero's Party.

Many of these can be improved or modified.

>Heroes

A hero is a unit well above the average for its race. Some Dungeon Races generate Heroes naturally, others have to work towards them. Heroes are allowed to equip special equipment and act independently of their racial holdings.

Sometimes a group of Heroes will descend into the Dungeon from the Outside. These are almost always powerful beings hoping to challenge the Dungeon God. It is not unheard of for such Heroes to annihilate entire Floors.

>Floor

The Floor is your world, but that doesn't mean you know all its secrets. Becoming the dominant Race on a floor can allow you to increase its Level.

>Stronghold

The Stronghold is the center of your Race's power. Heroes will rest here when not on assignment or questing. And the items of fallen Adventurers and Heroes will be stored here. If your Stronghold is destroyed all of your basic racial units on that floor will die immediately leaving only your Hero units.

>Dice

All rolls are 1d20 best of three. Your roll will be modified by magic, equipment, accessories, racial bonuses, and other modifiers as deemed necessary.

Each day begins the same. Spawn, die, repeat. Each day ends the same. Whether in victory or defeat, it has never mattered.

>Turn 1698 BEGI-

The familiar white letters haze out. Even in your dull NPC state you look up to the domed sky at this odd break in routine. As the round red orbs of your eyes float upwards the familiar text of Turn Start is replaced. And everything changes.

>Turn 0 BEGIN
>Floor Parameters changed
>Sentience - ON
>Growth - ON

In a rush of understanding you suddenly assign meaning to all the shapes and patterns around you! You are Kulnarth (The All-Consuming) Royal Slime of Floor 55 a Level One Floor. For countless eons you have been nothing more than a mid level Boss. Now, now you understand.

Your home is in the East of the dungeon floor near to the Entrance. Your people are small and ineffective with a large weakness to Fire. The previous dungeon God would routinely dump Adventurers from Outside on this floor. Many of them were mages with fire magic. Aside from your spawning pool the ruined city is almost devoid of standing water. Even the sewers are home to roaming Human Bandits. And the Grand Fountain is in the courtyard of the Fallen Palace which is home to Evisorax [Bane of Life] the Floor Boss. The scarcity of water means you've never had the spawn rate to venture beyond the decrepit Public Baths that are your home.

But now, now you can grow. Now you can learn.

Lurching forth from the cool waters of the Royal baths where you have always waited you inspect your domain. Molded over pieces of art hang in rusted or tarnished frames on the flaking plaster walls. The artful stained glass domes and skylights of the baths are more often shattered than not, and the ceiling sags here and there. The grand marble entrance is mostly pristine save for a statue taller than three men that lies shattered where it fell across the floor. A hovering magnifying glass indicates the statue has a history important to the floor, but you have never read it in all the eons of your life.

The basic slimes, which are the only unit aside from your Royal bulk, patrol the halls in preset patterns. They are all a deep aqua color and smell faintly of bath salts. They burble in happy but confused noises as you slide past them. Many of them follow you their preset patrols no longer strictly enforced by the Dungeon.

In the center of the Ruined Baths you find the Grand Pool. The massive swimming and bathing pool is broken here and there by huge bronze statues of strange creatures. Some of them remind you vaguely of Humans. Two of them have Hourglasses.

You call all the slimes of the Baths to you, and they assemble. It is time to see what you can do. After several hours of experiments you find that your slimes can form any kind of basic Melee weapon from their slime stuff. You also find that they can mimic many of the forms represented by the statues. With proper equipment and a deep hood they could pass for other races.

>Skill learned Disguise
>Skill Learned Stab
>Skill Learned Smash
>Skill learned Cut
Burbling with joy at your progress and intelligence you turn your Royal attention to seeing what your people can do with magic. More hours of experimentation pass with useful results. It seems every slime on this Floor can cast Water 1. Water 1 is a one damage water spell requiring 0 equipment slots. That's sure to be very handy if you encounter a Fire monster! You try to push your people further, but they just shake their heads and burble unhappily. It seems you need a Tome Of Water to use more powerful Water magic. You stomp your bulk to and fro in a minor fit at being stymied so early when one of your slimes informs you that it knows where to find a Tome. You eagerly demand to be shown, and the slime complies with the entire rest of your people following after in curiosity.

In the deepest level of a Ruined Aqueduct system that forms a dead end in your Stronghold you find a trap left by previous masters. It must have been sitting here unnoticed for hundreds upon hundreds of Turns. The skeletal corpse of a Mage rests in the giant bear trap. A blue Tome of Magic is clearly visible on his belt, as is the golden treasure chest he was attempting to open. But just as clearly there is a second Bear Trap waiting to spring!

>leave the chest and corpse, there will be another way
>loot the corpse, but not the chest

However that turned out you turn from the grisly sight and proceed back up the corridor, scattering slimes like raindrops as you head towards the entrance to get the lay of the land. Once three Dungeon Gods ago, the Dungeon rained constantly on this floor and your people swelled to massive numbers. You haven't been outside since that era ended, and much has changed. Where once it rained constantly now the Ruined city is a crumbling heap of dusty bricks and cracked pavement. Despite the inhospitable climate it seems the layout is similar. Directly East of your Stronghold is the Floor Entrance a small rural village full of pastoral beauty and Quests. North is the Ruined Library. You don't know what's there since it was always pretty dry and boring. South is the Floor Boundary the wall of the Ruined City. West is the City Slums. From eons past you know that the Slums have always opened into Sewers below, but are crawling with human bandits. Beyond that, if things remain as they were the Royal Palace District houses the Palace, Noble Quarters, and other amenities. All choked with Demons and the Possessed most likely.

Your slimes can each equip 2 skills and have 5 hp each.
They bypass 1 point of armor with their natural attacks.
They resist 1 point of any damage and 2 points of slashing damage
They are medium sized
They do not yet know how to use weapons or armor.

Wizard Robes, Tome of Water, Rusty Dagger
Large Ruby, 30 Gp, Wand of Fire
Skeleton, Golden Chest

Pressing yourself as flat as your bulk will allow against the wall you carefully slide past the waiting jaws of death. A careful pseudopod gathers up the skeletal remains. Unfortunately the Adventurer clings tightly to the chest even in death. You move your bulk upwards and pull up with all your might. The chest and skelly wrench free with a clatter and you fall backwards just as the spring loaded steels jaws slam shut on where your core would have been!

The Poison skill is an innate skill for slimes, but you've never thought about it. You experiment with it now lashing out at a few things with the sickly purple colored tentacle formed by the Skill. You cannot poison inanimate objects, you can poison living things including minor npcs like fish or rats. Experiments on a Slime show them to be immune to Slime poison.

>poison skill has a low chance to hit, but deals 1 damage per round regardless of armor.
>Kulnarth has Royal Poison which deals 2 damage

Gathering a Glop of Slimes to you, you proceed out looking for Loot and Danger. You find both.

Several small bands of Human Bandits are lurking in the area. A mid level boss like yourself is easily enough to overwhelm the dagger wielding minions foolish enough to leave their zone.

>secured immediate surroundings. Can now build outside the Ruined Baths.

Rusty dagger X 12, Thieves Vest X 2, Bent Lockpicks

Riding a wave of enthusiasm you surge Eastward towards the Dungeon Entrance.
>>
>>1398317
Like a Tidal wave of slimes you advance towards the barely protected Dungeon Entrance. The pastoral village is centered around a shrine to Sylph Goddess of Light and Restoration. That cursed shrine lets Adventurers respawn over and over. Finally you will smash it into a thousand pieces! Revenge for every fallen Slime! Justice for every looted chest! If you cut us do we not bleed? (Not really boss) If you stab us do we not die? (Only sometimes?) Your rant is cut abruptly short when you and your slime cohorts smash with stunning force into the invisible barrier separating the Dungeon Entrance from the Floor proper.

>Access Denied.
>Only Floor Administrator may enter Dungeon Entrance.

Prying your splattered self off of the invisible barrier your eyes orient just in time to see a smug Human Mage hurling a Fire spell your way!

Deciding to flex your race's muscles a bit you gather all of them together. Legends from Slimes of eons past tell of your ties to the enigmatic power of Acid. You wave your pseudopods about as you instruct your slimes how to use Acid! Of course, it would work better if you knew what Acid was. After many hours of splattering one another with Poison one clever Slime manages to spurt a green liquid that melts the now molded over painting A Victorious Sunrise For the Empire by master Painter Edward Sombrous. As the art world cries you rejoice!

>gained skill Acid
Lowers target DEF by 1

Not satisfied with this progress you push the slimes even harder! Memories of eons gone by surface and provide a flash of inspiration. How many Heroes s have you seen with Armor of steel, leather, glass, feather, or onion? Too many to count! With practice you teach your Slimes to toughen their membranes into those same shapes.

>gained skill Armor
This slime has +1 DEF, this stacks with its natural resistance to damage.

Deciding that you have trained enough you direct your slimes to scout the enemies in the surrounding areas.

Shadows dart from cover to cover in the Ruins. Knives and pseudopods flash in the dark clashing wherever two blurring shapes meet. But slime resilience means that slashing daggers do little harm, while Bandits have no such protection from flailing Slime limbs. Even if every other hit misses enough land to drive the Bandits from several prizes. Your slimes return triumphant!

>Items gained
Rouge Outfit, 30 Gp, rusty dagger X 6, Wooden Shield, Locked Golden Chest

They report that the Bandits are currently more numerous than your Slimes and that their Stronghold is located in the Ruined Slums in the Thieves Guild Hall. The leader of the Bandits is Gozur (Fell Fist) a nasty giant bandit wielding a cruel lash. Two particularly stealthy slimes add even more. Below the streets lies the Ruined Sewers. The Slime says the Sewers are full of muddy water! But they are also full of some kind of Rat People. The Slime mistook them for Bandits at first, but they seem to be much better at sneaking. Better even than a slime! The last Slime managed to sneak into the Royal Courtyard and found the Grand Fountain. It is easily as large as the Ruined Baths and enclosed in a massive gazebo like structure of marble and stained glass. Imps walk openly in the courtyard proving that Demons still rule the fallen Castle.

For your part you choose to speak with the nervous Mage, but not before enacting Dire Revenge! Stealthily sliding your Royal self up behind a statue of some winged human like thing you prepare to strike. She seems to be staring right at you, but that cannot possibly be for you are the stealthiest. The Mage grips her orb tighter as you launch your Dread Attack! Hahaha agent of oppression TAKE THAT!

"Waaah! Come forth Ifri- huh? Water? Not Water, but just water?!"

She stands there dripping, hair plastered to her face and neck. She seems Confused.

You leap out from your brilliant hiding spot and hop around your bested foe squirting her viciously with deluge after deluge burbling your victory and superiority.

The Mage throws up her hands in a valiant effort to defend herself, but you don't stop until she is utterly soaked, by which point she seems to be laughing.

"Hahaha, I never would have thought dreaded Kulnarth was fond of games. I guess you can't judge a book by its cover."

She rests her hands on her hips as you finally run out of water to squirt.

"So it's true, the new Dungeon God must have changed things more than we thought if you can leave your throne room..."

She seems to consider you for a moment.

"Please I need your help, my Party left me in the village to level when the Dungeon God changed. Most of them went to see what the next Floor is like, but Frederick went to explore this Floor. Well, alright you suppose, but your going to need something first!

"Eh? P-payment up front? But I don't have anything!"

You chuckle knowingly, Adventurers are sooo naive. Of course she has something to offer! You advance on her, towering over her as her eyes fill with unspoken fears. Service.

"S-service?! I-I-I don't know what you mean."

Huh?! Of course she does! Your burble catches her by surprise, snapping her out of some daydream and causing her to clutch her wand with both hands like some kind of shield.

"Huh?"

Honestly how do Adventurers survive at all? You will take her as your Royal Servant! She can be an honorary Slime, and once you find this Freedo (Frederick) he can help you too! Besides you don't have any idea what Freebird (Frederick) looks like, so she just has to help. See?

"Oh well, I suppose that makes sense? And I guess it is safer than looking on my own. And I wouldn't want to meet Sir Frederick after so long and not have leveled at all. And I'all bet he'll be super impressed with my progress! Yes that's right! I'll grow lots and lots and level and level. And when we finally meet again I will save him this time! And then he'll smile and... and"

Are you alright? It's just you've turned the same color as your Robes and-

"AH! Yes, yes I am fine it's nothing really"

Her protests come with some frantically waved hands and she turns even more red. Can you really believe her? Well anyway what's this guy like? And isn't she going to introduce herself. Rude. You ARE royalty after all.

"Oh! Yes how rude of me, my name is Ash. I am a Fire Mage under the patronage of the great and mighty God Ifrit! I, suppose I look forward to working with you Kulnarth."
And Fredo? (Frederick)

"Frederick is really strong and cool! He was- IS the leader of our Party. He's fifth level, and wears this cool heavy armor, and has tons of weapons, and is all dark and brooding and cool!"

Cool eh? So he uses Water or Ice Magic?

"Well no, not really. He uses Sword Arts that are like magic, but not."

Oh. Well he should be easy to spot then. Not a lot of stuff like that around here.

"I suppose your right. Thank you for letting me help you!"

She's smiling so brightly now, you'd think you were doing her a favor instead of her working for you. Adventurers.

>Hero actions

Unlike sending unreliable minions, Heros are the stuff of legends and much more capable. Usually.

Hero actions are almost guaranteed to succeed provided it isn't something that Hero can't, or won't do.

Examples include using a Water Mage to build a pool, or a Fire Mage to build a Forge, sending a Warrior scouting, etc.

Heros require Rest after using actions, especially if they get hurt!
>>
>>1401796
South of you is the Dungeon Wall.

Not every Floor has a Wall, but when there is one it is an insurmountable barrier. Doesn't matter if it's a three foot tall fence, the Great Wall of dungeon, or invisible.
>>
>>1401803
North of you is the Ruined Library. It stands abandoned as far as you know. Plus it's dry so why would you care? Books pfft who needs em?

East is Newbieville the Dungeon entrance. You can't go there until your floor boss.

West is deeper into the Ruined City Floor with the next zone being the Slums. The Slums are home to Human Bandits led by Gozur (Fell Fist) who is probably a jerk. Well, he isn't a Slime so you can DEFINITELY say he's a jerk.

Bubbling into your Throne room you notice the plethora of rusty knives piled up in your Loot. You should do something with those, but what? You try rolling in them to produce a spiny knife skin that will let you spin at super high speeds and move very fast, but that doesn't appear to be you power. Quickly losing interest in things that aren't awesome you pass the rusty knives out to your Slimes. Maybe they can combine to form a giant Slime/knife golem? You try this, but to no avail. It seems the knives are so dull they can't even cut through a slimes tough membrane. The minuscule practice cuts heal almost as soon as they are made. This is no better than the Cut Skill! Well- at least you don't have to Equip the Cut Skill to do slashing damage. So there's that. Picking up a knife for yourself you are startled to see a new attack option pop up.

>Throw

Seconds later you have gathered all of the knives into your skin again and are pulsing wildly trying to invent a "Knifesplosion".

"What are you doing?"

Huh, ah your servant has arrived, she will assist you in creating your Ultimate Move.

"I don't think it works like that your Highness."

Of course it should!

"Uwah! Err well maybe it does but only at higher levels?"

Yes, yes that must surely be it! Your simply ahead of your Level. She should take notes, this is called anticipating.

"Yes sir."

Hmmm. The note of smugness in her voice must be defiance. You will crush it with squirting!

"Hey what are you doing at the pool? Huh! NOooooo!"
When your Mage picks herself off the floor the sight of her bedraggled dripping self gives you a fabulous idea!

Rolling over to her you engulf her, except for her breathing limb head thing. And excitedly roll her into your throne room! Various noises of protest are ignored as you dig through your treasure until you find The Tome!

"-you can't just grab me so firmly and tug me around, I'm a girl you know. And- huh? Oh you want me to read that?"

Of course you do. It's a magic book, and she's a magic person. Your genius knows no bounds!

"Um well, okay I've heard of these, but they are super rare. Thank you for trusting me with it."

Yes, yes, she should have fun. Your off to perfect the Knifesplosion!

>several hours later

Knives in skin while spinning like a top? Just got dizzy.
Knifesplosion? Threw a knife so hard you pinned a slime to the wall. Three others had to form a ladder to get to it.
Vibroknife skin? Gave yourself a headache.
Final Moves are hard.

Bored you decide to read the ancient inscriptions on the bath statues.

>Zephyr, God of the Wind. This god is depicted in many strange ways. Here he is shown as a man with expansive wings. His eyes are Opals and the statue itself silver.

Huh, didn't everyone know that?

"Ahhhh! Your Highness, HELP!"

What now?

Rushing to the throne room you see the Fire Mage?

Why is she blue?

"Waaaahhh I read the book like you said, but it turned me into a WATER Mage! Lord Ifrit will never, ever forgive me for this! Fix it! Fix it!"

>Ash gained a level

Equipment... unchanged.

Hmmm well if a Book made her change colors, then a Book can change her back right?

"Well, yes I suppose so, but where are we going to find a super rare Tome of Fire?"

There's a library just North of here.

"Really?!"

Your not lying.

"Really?!!"

Yes.

"Lets go!"

Hold on, doesn't she want to practice her new powers? You'll send some slimes instead.

>Bonus off time lore and explanations

I have a bit of free time, so here's some background an explanation.

All of this is subject to revision if I look at it later and realize it's stupid.

>rule of simplicity
For the sake of my sanity and note keeping many rules will be applied in a simpler more off the cuff form than what I write down. This is because my notes might not always be available, but my brain is.

Despite this leveling up, gaining magic ranks, equipping skills and the like are staples of RPG systems. Because of this I will try where possible to adhere to those standards. I'm working on a pastebin of skills and equipment. Please be patient.

>Skills

Units spawn with basic skills equipped. In the case of Slimes, everyone has Poison equipped.

At any time you can switch skills around on any unit not in combat.

For example, you could remove Poison and equip Disguise and Armor. Or Cut and Acid.

Skills can be damn near anything including Magic Spells.

All first level units begin with two Skill slots and gain another every five Levels until 20 when they max out at six skills.

>Magic
Magic, at its most basic, is a ranged attack that uses the magic stat for attack and defense. You may have noticed that Ash has the number 2 next to her magic skill now. The idea is that as that number increases the skill does more damage.

My idea going forward is that you can trade numbers off of that to have effects.

For instance, lets say you want a longer range Water spell. If you have Water 2 you can drop 1 off the end and use it to increase range. Presto you've made Water Arrow 1.

The more changes you make the more actions it takes to make the spell.

A Fire spell that hits three extra targets takes three actions to make. And so on.It would also require Fire 4, which in turn can only be learned by a character of fourth level or higher.

>The Dungeon God

Exactly what it says on the tin. This is someone who has beaten the Final Floor and taken possession of the Dungeon's Heart. They control all Dungeon Parameters, layouts, floor linkages, and other details.

The only things the Dungeon God can't do are isolate a floor completely, exclude the other Gods, or leave.

The Dungeon God CAN make a Floor damn near instantly lethal. With no warning. Not actually 100% fatal no save, but very close.

>The Outside

Where Adventurers come from. Legend has it that eons ago a particularly cruel Dungeon God made life in the Dungeon so unbearable that everything that could sought to flee. Up until that point life had been a constant struggle to be the next Dungeon God. After thousands of Turns of struggle some races managed to escape from the First Floor into the outside. There the Dungeon God had no power. In time they returned and Adventurers from Outside slew the Dungeon God for the first time.

>Other Gods
The Great Elemental Forces are worshipped as gods, and may be summoned in combat. You know about Sylph, Undine, Zephyr, and Ifrit. There are many more.

>Bonus update

You send your quickest and stealthiest Slimes North. Of the ten that leave, only nine return.

They come bearing the broken core of their fellow Slime, shorn clean in two with a brilliant mirror finished slice. The Scouts grovel before your immense bulk upon your Throne.

How could this have happened? 213 was very fast! (We should have names)

The slimes burble over one another to tell you, but you eventually get the story straight.

Apparently there is some kind of metal creature in the library, just one. But it is taller than any slime, and quick, and its arms end in horrible sharp swords. Sharp enough that even the resilience of a Slime was no match! And what's worse, it had a strange skill! It's single eye glowed a mean spirited red glare and it used,

>SCAN

After it did that its sword arms lit on Fire! Which is when they ran.

A slime in the back bloops up that it saw something else. A man. A Human hiding on the second floor. He had a long white face thing that Humans get. Here the Slime paused to make the face. And seemed nicer than the Metal Sword Fire Scanner.

Ash seems as sad as anyone about poor 213. And the entire Pool is upset. Funny, this never used to matter.

A new Slime will spawn in (2) turns

A new Turn's dawn gives you much to think about. This is the first time in the new Eon that a slime you command has died. You brood upon your throne considering the many implications. Slimes roll by on their patrols, clearly disheartened. Even your adopted Fire Mage seems a bit blue.

Well, your the Boss. So it's up to you to snap them out of this! But what can you do? What can you do?

The answer when it comes to you is so obvious that it nearly causes the Stun Status.

[bold]Training. Montage.[\bold]

Rising up from your Throne with furious passion you commit yourself to be the very best! The best there ever was! Rising to the top like a shooting star! You couldn't be hotter if you were a Fire type!!

>Kulnarth is excited! No stat changes, but his eyes are like stars!

Swooping into the mopey Mages room you ignore her weakling noises as you engulf her and herd all the Slimes into the central Pool.

There you preach the gospel of GAINZ! The ministry of MUSCLES! The sermon of SQUATZ! It's not until your an hour or so into your speech when a Slime shakes itself free of its reverence to ask you what a muscle is.

Well it's a- a-

"I can show you a muscle, if you want?"

35 pairs of eyes turn to look at the diminutive Water Mage who suddenly turns deep red. She must be fired up too!

Well go on!

Ash rolls up her sleeve and makes a muscle, it's not that big.

Ooooh! Aaaah! The Slimes don't have anything like those. Humans sure are amazing! Slimes quickly crowd around Ash to poke and prod her Muscles! She seems to be turning more and more red! Yes she's really fired up now! Keep going, learn all the secrets of Muscles!!!

"WAAAHH!"

Suddenly Ash slams her hand down through a Slime, grabbing it by its Core. Her Muscles must be really fired up because she spins the Slime quickly above her head before tossing it into the Pool!

"Don't touch a lady there!"

She's holding her arms across her chest now. Perhaps that's where she keeps her Core? Hmm, it would be bad if you touched her core without permission. Taking responsibility you force all the Slimes to apologize. In return Ash tells you all about Muscles. Sounds like you need a Skelly to make them work. You've never been much into necro stuff, but Muscles are pretty neat. Apparently there's even a Job called Muscle Wizard!

Experiment with Skelly?

>Y/N?

While you ponder Skellies, Muscles, cores and such you order your top thinking Slime (chosen at random) to study the old Traps. They've been set off so they should be safe.

While you are out bruising egos and busting heads your Slimes drag the defunct Bear Traps into the main hall. After lots of trial and error, and an incident where half a Slime gets lopped off, they manage to reset the traps!

Once 174 stops crying all the Slimes huddle together to decide where to place your new Traps.

They eventually place one inside the main door, and one outside.

>2 Rusty Bear Traps gained
2 damage each, needs to be reset.

The Traps shimmer into invisibility! Only a rogue or a Job with Trap Finding will be able to see them now. Your Slimes bloop happily at a job well done and promptly forget the Traps are there.

None of you have Trap Finding. Oh well, at least they are in place. Surely someone will mention them, right? It's not like they trigger for friendly units, but still.

Out in the Ruins you and your gang of post apocalyptic Road Warriors have left a tidy path of ruin through the Human Bandits.

All of their regular patrols in the Slums were easy to dispatch.

Their use of the Hide skill doesn't help when they attack and fail to pierce your Royal Resilience. A simple counterattack or three is often enough to kill them. At the same time, they don't seem challenging enough to give you XP. Maybe Ash would benefit? She's fairly weak. You send a Slime back to fetch the Mage.

Ash is staring at you with a mixture of disbelief and anger.

You wonder why.

Tethys: Sayounara Kulnarth-San. I am sure we will meet again.

Back at the Ruined Baths a lone Slime plays in the treasure pile where it isn't supposed to be. Trying it's hand at the KNIFSPLOSION technique for the tenth time yields the same results.

It should have known it couldn't succeed where even the Royal Kulnarth had failed.

Maybe something else would work?

Digging with enthusiasm through the treasury 29 eventually finds a Skelly.

Oh yeah, the Blue Mage Girl was talking about these. Humans have them, but Slimes don't. That's not fair! What do Humans have that Slimes don't?
Aside from skeletons of course. It's time someone took a stand! It's time someone took some legs to stand with! They won't be able to look down on us then. Won't be able to keep us down!

As the rest of the Slimes watch 29 shoves his core into the Skellies rib cage and coats it from skull to toe bone.

A flash of light accompanies a message

Skills, magic, and to some extent items and accessories will all function similarly to Magic.

It will be THING X. Where X is a numeric value depending on the level of the thing.

With items this will never be visible unless inspected or analyzed.

THINGS can have special properties based either on their type or by reducing their number.

For example, knives can always be thrown. This doesn't cost anything and is an innate ability of Knives.

To make a sword that could be thrown you would reduce its numerical value by one to give it one range.

More options will open up as you progress.

Returning home in triumph you surge happily into your Royal Pool and Throne room. Only to have your entire day ruined. Some foolish "Bone Slime" is sitting in your chair!!

As you stare in shock the upright usurper speaks!

"So at last you return your Royal Hugeness. Well too little, too late! I've risen in he world! Pulled myself up by the skeleton I did! No Gods or Masters on my back, no sir just the proud spine of a proud Slime! So, whatcha gonna do about it... Fatso?"

Fatso? FATSO?! Your slime turns red as you boil with rage, little bubbles percolating inside you!

You rush the Bone Slime!

"Huh?!"

Driven by unspeakable rage you plunge a pseudopod into the Bone Slimes head and grab hold of his skull. Spinning with all your might you force the Slime off his Skelly home. Slime 29 goes flying through the air splatting into the back of your Throne with a loud noise. 29 slides down the front of the Throne. His eyes show the universal swirly pattern of Confusion. Shaking himself vigorously he begins wailing. He slides around you in a circle hopping for the Skelly you hold cruelly out of his reach tears pouring from his eyes. If he's not careful he'll dehydrate you tell him. What happened to being so much taller than you?

"Waaaaahhhh! I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry!! I won't ever do it again!"

Hmm wellll....

He'll obey you?

"Uh huh!"

Hmmm is uh huh good enough?

Wow, it's like you can't even tell the difference! Amazing! Slimes are the best!

Making the best of a bad situation Ash has taken to trying to teach your Slimes more about how water magic works. Frustrated at the lack of progress with this evenings class (most of which has been spent squirting her with water) she leans against the statue of Undine.

"I wish they would just learn already!"

[As you desire my Servant!]

"Huh? Who said that?"

A bright light fills the Baths.

State we are proud at his enthusiasm, and clever thinking, but horribly disappointed in his attempting to overthrow us, and that if he does it again we will be less merciful.

11,13 is passable.

It's not critfail levels
>>
>>1410433
It's not slime tier rolls though
>>
>>1410439
No, I blame Demons. Getting into everything, messing things up with their keikaku.

Stinking demons.
>>
>>1410433
Oh you're taking highest of each roll instead of highest total. Okay that makes it better.
>>
>>1410450
Would I screw you over like that?
>>
>>1410460
Doubtful, I'm just used to some QMs taking highest total no matter what the individual rolls are

After thoroughly chastising Former Bone Slime and extracting promises never to do that ever again you allow Slime 29 to re-merge with his beloved Skelly. Standing tall once more he addresses you.

"Ha foolish Royal you have-!"

Before a forceful Royal Water 2 spell shoves his skull right out of his goo head taking his eye nuclei with it.

"Aaahhh! That was too mean my Lord, I was only playing!"

You decide not to help and it takes several minutes for the headless Bone Slime to find his skull.

"Sorry Sir, won't happen again."

Well it had better not, there's plenty more where that came from.

Turning to other matters you inspect your Pile Of Daggers. It's, quite a lot.

You should do something with them.

Maybe knock the rust off?

Picking up a dagger you try just that.

A notification appears!

>Upgrading this equipment requires a Forge.

Hmmm. Hmmm. ???!

What in the Dungeon is a Forge?

You track down Ash to ask her. She will know because Adventurers deal with Equipment all the time. Right?

You find her in the Spawning Pool teaching the new Slimes how to cast Water 2. It's sort of maternal? She sure has changed a lot since reading that Tome. But why isn't she paying attention to you? Your Best Slime after all. Shoving the Slime fledglings out of your way you politely demand her attention, respect, and info.

"Oh er, Hi Kulnarth. Forges? They are common in Starter Areas and towns. They let you make or improve equipment. Mostly Armor or Weapons. Mage Forges let you make Magical Equipment. I could build you a Forge, if I were still a Fire Mage..."

She's doing that face thing that means she is sad.

Don't be sad Ash, Undine is the best God. Better than any other for sure.

"Oh well I'm sure she is very nice, but I still really like Ifrit. Sorry."

That's okay, everyone is wrong sometimes. It's something you've learned to live with. Why does she look angry?

"Anyway, I'm going out for a bit to blow off some steam!"

Neat you'll go with her you can-

"No thanks Kulnarth. I can handle it on my own. Later guys."

Did you say something wrong? No... not at all. Humans are weird.

>13 for Farming

Ash seems to have mastered the art of kiting. Time and time again she pulls Bandits off their patrols and into ambushes.

Water 2 followed by Defend, and then Water 2 to finish them off.

But success breeds overconfidence, and Ash eventually pulls three Bandits at once!

The first two do minimal damage, but the last uses the Skill Backstab from Hiding.

>Ash is injured!

Deciding that heading out alone was a bad idea Ash returns home while limping slightly.

>Items Gained

Skelly X 3, Human Soul, Rusty Dagger X 15, 120 Gp, Thieves Vest X 2, Small Shield X 2, Leather Armor, Small Sword

[XP is gained from completing quests.]

Your Slimes try to combine Poison Skill with a Weapon.

It seems like this should work, but it just won't happen.

After much experimentation you discover that Thieves can combine Poison and Attack, but only at higher levels.

>Skill discovered, but still Locked
Poison Strike, Lvl 2 Skill.

>11

Marshaling your forces for a fight you move en masses into the Slums.

Ash seems to have killed the majority of the Bandits. Your Disguised Slime Thieves are able to easily get behind groups of Bandits. This lets you catch them in Pincer attack after Pincer attack. Pincer attacks are even better than surprise attacks so things go well.

You are busy gloating over your obvious genius when a Slime rolls up with distressing news.

Two of your Slime Thieves were found dead near the Bandit Guild Hall. They were apparently killed by some kind of powerful Fire ability.

>Ruined Slums cleared!
> -2 Slime Thieves

As you ponder what to do about this there is a powerful rumbling akin to the Earthquake spell, but not damaging.

As you look around for the cause a giant blackened Tower of Evil appears looming above the Ruined Palace.

Wow!

Seconds later the sky lights up with a message.

Under your careful supervision three more Slimes are chosen to get Skellies. The first one seems to be going well until,

"The power! The height! The awe inspiring TALLNESS!! Nothing can stop me now, nothing can sate my desire for conque-"

SMACK.

"Ahhh my head!"

Hmmm that's probably a coincidence right? On to the next one.

"Oh you foolish fools! How you laughed at me when I was short, but who will now laugh the last laugh from atop the Legs of Superiority? Bow to your new-"

SMACK.

"How can this be?"

Maybe they're all like that? Only one way to find out.

"hehehe."

What?

"Muahaha. Muahahahaha! HAHAHAHAHA-"

SMACK.

"Ow."

Hmmm these Bone Slimes are uppity. If only you were taller, that would keep them in their place for good. Not that they'll soon forget the lessons you taught them today, but still.

Legs might be nice.

The change to a Level 2 floor is amazing! Floor 55 has been Level 1 since you first spawned! Time to level up your self, your Slimes, everyone!

Huh!? There's a prompt. How rare.

>Level 2 can be unlocked by building Stronghold lvl 2.

Wuah! Surging into your Throne room on a tide of excitement you inspect the Stronghold.

Hmm. Ah here it is!

>Stronghold (Ruined Baths) lvl 2.
Requires: Temple of Undine, Temple of Zephyr, Forge, Expanded Baths (1/3)

Booo so much work! Slimes flee in every direction like droplets as you jump around in rage!

Your Bone Slimes give each other snide looks, but are wise enough to keep their jaws shut.

You send Ash off to commune with Undine while you try to figure out this Forge thing.

Hmmmm you do have some Fire Wands, perhaps they could help?

Ash spends this time communing with Undine.

She seems upset about it, but develops a new spell.
