You are a God, one of many in the Universal Pantheon. You are worshiped and adored by countless mortals, and have your own Godly Realm, where your power is all but absolute. Compared to mortal men, your power is nigh unbeatable, but you are young God, the monsters of the many dimensional planes, the greatest of mortal wizards, and elder Gods can best you with ease.

Even the Gods have a hierarchy, and by their standards, you're barely a peasant, beneath the notice of many. Should you wish to achieve absolute power, you have a long journey ahead of you. That said, there's far more to immortality than Godly politics, there's nothing stopping you from traveling the planes and experiencing all reality has to offer, hunting and slaying titanic beasts, or simply spending time with your followers.

Before we begin, we must know where to start.

Someone's name is important, a God's is even more-so. It's best to put some thought into this, but there's nothing stopping you from changing your mind later.

> What do your mortal followers call you?

A domain is an area a particular God has power in, such as lightning, chaos, or bravery. Domains aren't exclusive to individual Gods and Gods often change their domains over time. Many elder Gods have many domains, but as a younger God, you have only one. This could be anything, extremely specific to the broad, material or abstract, whatever it is, it defines you.

> What is your domain?

When a mortal or fellow deity gazes upon you, they witness the form you choose to take. As Gods aren't bound by the laws of physics, they are able to change their form at will, but most have a form they're most comfortable in, and prefer to manifest as.

> What is your preferred appearance?

Most Gods spawned in the ether from the thoughts of mortals, the influence of primordial elements, or the reproductive process of older deities, meaning that they were always divine. However, there are nearly as many ways for a mortal to ascend to Godhood as there are colors on the spectrum, none of them easy, but possible nonetheless, and mortals get lucky and ascend all the time.

Someone's past mortality has no bearing on themselves or their power, but it provides an interesting perspective and may influence their interactions with other Gods.

> Is your origin mortal or divine? If you were once mortal, who were you in your past life, and what did you do to ascend? If you were always divine, how were you born?

Born from a cherry bush sprouted from the blood and sweat of our dear All-Father.

You recline on a magnificent throne, sculpted of the finest stone, shaped by master craftsmen, it was the first sacrifice a follower offered to you. At the time it was roughly chipped of granite, and thrown into a volcano to be incinerated, but it was sacrificed in your name and painstakingly carved with devout faith. You accepted it, and in your gratitude granted its carver a lifetime of virility and success in romantic endeavors. Over time, your divine presence has shaped it into something much more suitable.

You ponder, and recall your birth. An eternity of nothingness, almost dreamlike, before the All-Father was cut in a duel by the Demon Lord Uth-Thra, his ichor and sweat spilled onto a grove of cherry bushes, and from them you were born in a flash of radiant light. Uth-Thra was blinded by your light, and the All-Father gained the upper hand, banishing him to his nether-realm once more.

The All-Father gazed upon you, even as a mewling babe, your face shone with an intensity even he could scarcely endure. From the side of a mountain, he carved a beautiful mask, and placed it upon you to hide your true form. He raised you as his own, teaching you to manipulate and control your inner power. When a few centuries had passed, he deemed you ready, and granted you the domain of Fertility, and enough power to establish yourself.

All Gods must find their own path, you were no different. You left the All-Father's dominion, and with your power, shaped a Godly Realm. A grain of sand by Godly standards, it is only the size of a large island. It is a tropical paradise floating in crystal clear waters, filled with a great multitude of vibrant plants and passionate beasts, all given over to the urges of nature, the blowing wind whistles soothing music between the trees, the sun is always in the sky, save when you wish for the privacy darkness provides. No sign of mortal activity marrs its primal beauty, apart from your temple.

A vast, marble ziggurat lies in the island's center, it is perfectly carved and shines with reflection of the sun's light, yet it is overgrown with vines and vegetation, and filled with roaming beasts. At the the very top of the temple is your throne, where you lay contemplating the empty blue skies.

> To be continued
>>
>>1379124

So far, you have scarcely ten-thousand followers, scattered across two subplanes of reality. The first, your favorite, is Urnodos, a vast flat ocean filled with tropical islands much like your own, the deities there are the primal, volcanic, and oceanic sort, but they don't mind your presence or conversion of their followers, so long as they are still venerated and receive their sacred offerings. The mortals are bronze-skinned, two-legged things, similar to you superficially, but unimaginably ugly and fragile. They have a fiery ambition for everything they do, and seek to one day sail beyond Urnodos, an impossibility unless they discover extraplanar travel or receive divine aid. They are called Hu-Mohns, and are almost endearing to you. Supposedly they're extremely common for their genetic flexibility and devotion to their ideals. In addition, many strange and alien mortals lurk the depths beneath the waves, but they were formed by the elders, and have no interest in your domain. Perhaps 8,000 worship you, spread out across half a dozen islands, scarcely a fraction of the full plane.

The second, is Yatash, a scorching desert hellhole, with nary a patch of grass to be seen apart from the rare oasis and the dwindling river kingdoms. The God who created Yatash, Yatashi, a cruel and malevolent God, has left for greener pastures thousands of years ago, and in his abscence, the plane is dying, as moisture is drained by spirits of entropy, and mortals slaughter one another in the name of petty war Gods. It is a dire situation, and without your interference, Yatash will die in at least twenty mortal generations. Little over 2,000 mortals have found hope in you, and have attempted to make sacrifices of precious water to beseech your aid. Most of the mortals there are Hu-Mohns, though there are a few, less prolific races.

Two more matters of interest draw your attention. Your Godly Realm has no mortals within it, most Godly Realms serve as afterlives for their creator's followers, though many Gods simply let the souls of their mortal followers reincarnate, you might not want to do so. As long as you've had followers, they've simply been reborn as the children of mortal couples who follow you. It's somewhat quiet around your island, if you allowed mortals to spend their afterlife in your Godly Realm, you'd have to establish a set of criteria for entry, some kind of religion beyond random orgies and rampant promiscuity, and accomadations for their mortal bodies, which, while unaging in your Godly Realm, are still most comfortable with food, water, and shelter.

>>1379131

Lastly, in the deepest caverns of Yatash, in the core of the spherical plane, lies the Blade of Uth-Thra, ready for the taking. Of course, it isn't the true blade of Uth-Thra, but rather, a sidearm the Demon Lord wielded when he was younger and much, much less powerful. That said, the Blade has powerful sorcery embedded within it, and if you could obtain it, your power level would greatly increase. The only problem is that it has a guardian, the Whisper of Yatashi, a gaseous incarnation of sand and famine, it has the strength of a lesser God, and you would be hard-pressed to do battle against it. However, if you don't, eventually one of the local War Gods will get ahold of it, and that can't be good for the plane as a whole.

If we can go down to their plane and see how we can help them while being with them we would probably gain more followers and ease the process
>>
>>1379259
Let's go with a stealthy way. The War gods won't like it if we're converting their followers and we should avoid direct fights as much as we can until we're stronger. I prefer to strengthen the followers there to win and claim parts to live.
>>
>>1379278
>I prefer to strengthen the followers there to win and claim parts to live.

Same. We need to have some defenses at least. Maybe search for the one that carved our throne and have him hang around our realm? Need some mosary to be done in the temple anyway...
>>
>>1379165

The Hu-Mohns of Yatash are in need of help only you can give, it would be wrong to deny them after they've offered all they can give. You get up off of your throne and stretch your back and limbs for a moment. You reach out and pierce the veil between realms, opening and closing a portal in the barest of instants. It is more than enough time for you to slip into the sands of Yatash.

> ...

Yatash is a different place from your Godly Realm, that's for sure. Brown, empty sand dunes stretch as far as the eye can see, beneath a dust clouded yellow sky, and burning white sun. The air is filled with sandy grit that gets into your teeth, and a dryness that seeps into the core of your being. You are distinctly uncomfortable and a sense of unease, and you're a God capable of leaving at any moment. You can't imagine the plight of the mortals living here, and that's something you'll have to remedy.

For days you travel across the sands, never once seeing more than the hardiest of cacti, never sensing anymore than the faintest traces of water. A week passes, and you're on the verge of giving up, when you hear voices in the distance. You snap your fingers and appear behind a sand dune, just out of sight of the speakers. A dozen men and women, and a single child, stand around a hole in the ground. Each of them is swaddled in patchwork, filthy robes and wears thick, bone face masks, most likely to protect themselves from the sand and sun. They seem hopeless, and a man, most likely their leader, is shouting, his voice periodically cracking with thirst. You don't know the language, but you sense the intent behind it, and if you wished, could communicate without issue.

> "What are we to do? This, this right here, is the last spring in thirty leagues, and it's run dry! We're going to die out here in these wastes, the Gods have abandoned us! It'd be a mercy to end our lives now!"

An older women speaks up, her voice is laden with a false hope she knows is hollow,

> "Wait son, don't lose hope. Telantes hears us, and he will come. I know it, I just know it. When I was young, a little girl, I saw him in a dream. A paradise, more water than you could imagine, plants without thorns, beasts without claws and spikes! He will come, I just know it."

Their leader speaks, struggling to hold back tears, and rebukes her.

> "You and your God! Telantes this, Telantes that, Telantes, Telantes, Telantes! It's all meaningless! He's just a dream, a nice, pretty little dream, no more, no less! The only true God is Yatashi, and he has left us to the demons."

He falls to his knees, beating the ground and wailing in despair, as the rest of his family watches, concerned.

> Telantes, you feel that if there was ever a time to reveal yourself, that time is now. How do you do so?

All of a sudden, a mystical sense of calm comes over the Hu-Mohns, and each of them feel their eyes drawn to the water hole. Before their disbelieving eyes, a gray cloud appears above them and water begins to fill the hole, slowly trickling at first, it soon becomes a torrent, and a downpour, filling the hole to the brim and then some, soaking the feet of the Hu-Mohns. As quickly as it came, the raincloud dissipates, but the water remains.

Each of them is stunned and unable to act at first, the old woman nearly faints but a gentle wind cushions her fall. From the waters comes a strange but elegant creature, alien to them yet somehow more beautiful than anything they've ever known, it brings tears to their eyes.

Each sees something different, a pangolin, a jackalope, a desert viper, the child even a one-horned gazelle. Where it walks, bushes bearing a small, sweet, red berry sprout in moments, and even a palm tree grows from sapling to full-size less than a minute. They all stare at the creature, enraptured by its miraculous power, until it walks to the horizon. Before leaving, it turns back to them, and each hears the same words.

> "Quench your thirst, there is yet more to come."

> ...

Phew, that last month was doozy. You traveled across Yatash, repeating your stunt with other watering holes a dozen times, each one with similar results. The Hu-Mohns were dying, are near to dying of thirst, you arrive with a raincloud, lots of cherry bushes, and a palm tree, everyone sees you differently, and you give all of them the same vague prophecy.

At least 99.9% of the watering holes are still drained or empty, but you made a difference, and that's what counts. You lost a good deal of power creating the oasis, but the nigh fanatical faith you've inspired in 7,000 Hu-Mohn nomads has allowed you to recoup your losses, and then some.

It seems they've started worshiping you as some kind of savior rain God that's going to make the deserts of Yatash a verdant paradise if they're willing to pray to you each day, and visit a holy watering ground you've touched. It seems like you've got your own desert cult, and you didn't even try to start one! It's spreading like wildfire, at the rate it's going there'll be 20,000 Telantes worshipers by the end of the month. You have a gut instinct that if you can gain 200,000 followers, you'll gain a Rain domain.

> Telantes, you've done good, but there's still much work to be done. What should you do?

Your followers are devoted to you and your cause, but they lack direction. They have you to lead them, but they need someone smaller... someone more... personal... They need a prophet, but who? You suppose you could become your own prophet, but that's a bit trite, and limits your options somewhat.

You could outright create a prophet, but you don't want to draw too much attention just yet. One of the mortals will have to do, but who? There's almost two million in Yatash to choose from... The older one, the decrepit old crone who'd kept the faith. Yes, she will be your prophet.

Almost three week's travel away, at a small ragged campsite, the old woman slept. Goliht was her name, she dreamt of the oasis she'd seen, and of the pangolin she had seen. It was an embodiment of Tentales, she was certain, the peace all around it, the fire she felt in her bosom, the voice that spoke, that couldn't any mere animal, no, it was a God.

The rumors of the sand whisered that Tentales had appeared to more, and that now a dozen watering holes had been touched. Thousands of men, women, and children have begun to worship him, to pray for guidance, hope, and rain. Soon, many more will realize the truth, and Tentales will bring all that is needed and more, she knew it in her heart.

All of a sudden, a misty fog rose from the oasis, and a raincloud began to pour, washing away the dust and sand, and in its place, sprouted more grass blades than she could count, the yellowed skies shone a clean, peaceful, blue, and the sun was no longer white, but golden. Tears came to her eyes, and from the mists, a figure was visible. Almost like a man, but stronger somehow, almost royal, no, more than royal, it was divine. She fell to her knees, bowing before him, whispering thanks to Tentales.

A voice echoed through the dreamy meadow, and with each word it became realer, and realer, until she could smell the grass and taste the mist. She listened to the voice with every fiber of her being, and committed its words to memory.

> "Goliht, look around you. This is a sign of what is to come. Awaken, and travel to the watering hole where I first spoke. There, call upon my name, and submerge yourself in its depths. So says Tentales."

She awakened with a start, and wept with the beauty of what she'd witnessed. The burning sands, the yellowed sky, the hateful sun, Tentales will sweep it away, she knows it.

She awakened and told her family what she had witnessed. With scarcely a word, they packed what little they had, and set to walking.

Time passed, and soon they'd arrived. The oasis was as beautiful as when they'd first arrived. Not a grain of sand befouled the waters, the vegetation thrived, and even the sun didn't beat down on their heads. The old woman stepped forward and spoke,

> "Tentales, I call upon you!"

The light shone on the waters, and its reflection should've blinded them, but the glare soothed their eyes. Goliht threw off her rags, and waded into the pool. As the water touched her, she shuddered with energy, and fell face first into the waters. Her son's eyes widened, and he stepped forward to lift her out, when a naked woman walked out of the waters.

Her pale skin gleamed with vigorous youth, her green eyes told of spring, and her tawny hair gleamed with health. She reached forward, grasped the rags, and slid them on, in a flash of brilliant light, the rags shifted and changed into a elegent cloak of the finest silk. In a burst of passion, she raised her hands and shouted with joy.

From seemingly nowhere, a raincloud came into being with the sound of thunder, and a deluge engulfed them all, yet none were drowned, and when the rain ceased, none were wet, but the sand was cleaned from every part of them. They looked above her, and as the rain cloud parted, an arc of prismatic, multicolored light took its place in the sky.

A booming voice echoed from the heavens, and they knelt in awe. It spoke,

> "Goliht, as I have restored your beauty, I will restore Yatash. I grant you the gift of rain, that you will show my power to all who doubt. Go, and spread the word as my prophet. So says Tentales."

> ...

You'd say that went well. Goliht's been restored to youth and is doing watery miracles everywhere she goes. In the month she traveled, 20,000 Hu-Mohns turned their worship to you, and your power is slowly but steadily growing. In the weeks to come, you're certain Goliht's rain will bring many more to your waters.

In the meantime, you've done some snooping around, and discovered the three Gods that rule Yatash. There are others of course, but their cults are much smaller, and they aren't nearly as active in the world.

> Phezen, The Parched One, a gaunt, mummified wretch who lives without life, he is a God of Thirst, Desolation, Pain, Misery, and the Desert. Yatash was already dying, but his arrival no doubt hastened its end. Of the three, he is the least popular deity, but the few who follow him are unflinching fanatics. His followers wander the sands, eternally thirsting, torturing all who refuse to kneel before Phezen, draining the few watering holes they encounter until nothing but dust remains.

> Tho'Tch The Red, a bloodthirsty demonic entity who wishes for nothing but carnage, he is a God of Slaughter, Triumph, and Impalement. Of the three, he is the most popular deity, and he has the river kingdoms in his grasp. His followers are many, but few are truly devout, seeing no other way. His priesthood are masterful warriors, adept at spilling the blood of all who oppose Tho'Tch, and publicly impale all who deny sent him on wooden stakes.

> Kurhu, The Black Butcher, a skeletal beast with a flaming shadow and gaping maw, he is a God of Cannibalism, Shadow, Fire, and Death. Of the three, he is more popular than Phezen, but less popular than Tho'Tch. Most of his mortal followers are scattered across the wastes, preying on travelers to sate their hunger, and a few hide themselves in the river kingdoms, secretly performing rituals to their dark deity. Those who Kurhu's followers have eaten, their skeletons are set alight with black flame, and they wander the world, killing and burning to fill the void within themselves.

> At the moment, each of the three is stronger than you, but that could change soon.

Hmm, Yatash is more grimdark than you thought it'd be. That's not a bad thing, er, of course it's a bad thing, but it's nothing insurmountable. You have a vast mountain ahead of you, all you can do is climb it and hope for the best.

> Tentales, what do you do?
>>
>>1380620
Watch Over Golith, make sure no harm comes her way and keep talking to her via dreams to keep her motivated but show her more glimpses of our place each time
and maybe bless her with a child
>>
>>1380650
Golith and If possible all of our followers, see if any of them require special treatment or special help
>>
>>1380620
Perhaps visit the river kingdoms? I mean, they are probably rich with water and they seem like they need help with dealing Tho'Tch
>>
>>1380620
>Begin quietly sowing dreams and rumours in the inhabitants of the river kingdoms. Dreams of the rivers running dry under the rule of their current gods. Visions of Tentales returning the waters after striking down their false gods. Sowing the seeds of discontent and all that.
>>
>>1380675
That could draw attention to us if we influence the wrong people, them wargods could come after us for trying to steal their followers
>>
>>1380680
Well we need to be sneaky about it then. Find those that are unhappy with the rule of the current gods.
>>
>>1380620
We're going to be in direct conflict with Phezen, soon. Is there any chance we can set Tho'Tch on Phezen? Kurhu will take advantage of any weakness in either cult...

What if we spirit some of Kurhu's skeletons into a Tho'Tch city or three? That'll draw the attention of the warrior priests. If we can leave those same openings for Phezen's murder cults, then Tho'Tch will be fighting a war on two fronts against groups who excell in avoiding open battle. Plus, as Phezen's work starts drying up the river kingdoms, more will come to our oases.

Anything to keep Phezen off our ass a bit longer.

>Put dreams of fertility in some of the minds of their supporters; show them they can give life again instead of just taking it.

I'm hesitant about this. I'd be fine influencing the minds of those who wander the desert and who may find life in our embrace, but doing that to the supporters of other gods when we're this weak could band them together in an alliance to crush us and restore unrelenting grimdark to Yatash. I'd rather focus on unaligned than even the weakest of the war gods supporters.

>>1380620
Time is on our side. Let the war gods kill themselves and their supporters while we increase the fertility of our followers and let our burgeoning nation bloom. In a generation or two we could have the numbers to be a more formidable force on this plane.

I've got to say, I was worried when I first saw we would start as a fertility god in the quest that it would become another smut thread, but so far the writing has been excellent and I will continue to watch with great interest.

That will be more obvious to the war gods. We are taking their followers more directly like that. I guess no matter what the war gods will find out.

It's a more direct challenge to build a blooming city and let the unaligned come to us than it is to magically influence the minds of the war gods' worshippers?

I'm not sure I agree.

>>
We need to get the damn sword before any of these fucks do but the most we could do is pit them against each other. Maybe we could request aid from the gods of Urnodos? They are pretty neutral so far maybe we could tag team with one to help save Yatash.
>>
>>1381092
Let's get the Rain domain first. I think it will help immensely against the demon guarding it.
>>
>>1381104
The rain domain will definitely help. I don't think we should attempt to take the weapon until we're significantly more powerful than the war gods. Otherwise they will likely attempt to gang up on us and steal the blade while we are weakened after fighting the guardian.

I like the options taking the rain domain gives our character. Maybe we can get a storm theme going: "Tentales the life-giving storm" or something like that?
>>
>>1381104
We kind of need to get the sword soon if only to keep it out of the other Yatash gods' hand, hell it would be better off in the Urnodos gods' hand if we were to make an alliance but the question is if we can trust them.
>>
>>1381123
It's "Telantes" but yes. The war gods might gang up on us but I think that's not a danger yet. Since they're too greedy and bloodthirsty to work together.
>>
>>1381123
Actually the sword is a massive power boost to whoever gets it. Also not interested in the Rain domain, I'd rather the Nature domain since it meshes better with Fertility which shouldn't be hard to get.
>>
>>1381124
>Trusting other gods when we're not as strong as them
Silly Anon. This is a game.
>>1381136
Rain domain is a nature domain. Also, I don't think we're strong enough to handle that much power. We're a minor god now. Also, rain is awesome.
>>
>>1381139
Rain is a relatively minor one to be honest which is why it would be pretty disappointing and OP hasn't really explained how domains work so the argument "it's too powerful" doesn't really work.
>rain is awesome.
Your opinion. I find such a focused domain and inflexible domain pretty mediorce.
>>
>>1381164
>focused domain and inflexible domain pretty mediorce
>He doesn't know about typhoons, monsoons, raining so hard that the water droplets are like daggers, flooding the land
You need to be more creative.
>>
>>1381164
>>1381170

Rain is indeed awesome. It can be used to create life and healing, but also be immensely powerful in battle. Over time rain can level mountains.

There's a reason many of the most powerful gods from "real" Pantheons are storm gods (e.g. Zeus, Thor, etc.). The rain domain has a lot of utility and power, and can synergize well with many other domains we may get access to.
>>
>>1381164
Tell that to Noah.
>>
I just realized that with our rain powers we can easily make the river town be overfloaded by it's own river.
>>
>>1381184
Zeus was the god of the fucking heavens so you're talking about one of the more minor domains he had and in the Norse mythos power levels were stupidly swingy.
>>1381170
All of that could be done with the Wind or Water domain with more finesse.
>>
>>1381228
Rain is just one step behind water. More followers means more power for it.
>>
>>1381233
That I can't argue against but the main reason I want Nature is because Fertility and Nature have some bullshit synergy and adding Civilization to would make any cities that worship us ridiculously powerful.
>>
>>1381253
We're taking steps. We can't be a life god that quickly. Also, it wouldn't be that fun if we did it too fast.
>>
>>1381256
Well I agree there too but the reason I talking about this stuff is because I really don't play the entire quest as a Rain god.
>>
>>1381277
We're a Fertility god foremost. It's our reason for existing and doing what we do. Rain is just more power for us. A tool to help us right now.
>>
>>1381282
As long as we can agree on that. So should we offer extraplanar travel to the Humans of Urnodos? That's what they seem to really want.
>>
>>1381282
Eh, I feel like rain can be a bit more important than that. Getting the rain domain with fertility puts us well on the way into getting waters of life/waters of creation powers - both of which will be highly powerful in our chosen planes (desert and islands).

Also, we can get plenty more domains over time. See how many those other gods had? We won't be limited to just rain and fertility, I imagine, but we can use them to develop a theme.

I also like that idea the other anon had of using our rain control to flood the river kingdoms (once we have enough followers/power)
>>
>>1381304
Not really interested in it as anything other than a tool and Nature already covers water creation along with the creation of life as well as the manipulation of both and with fertility we could terraform the entirety of Yatash which is why I prioritize it.
>>
>>1381304
Becoming power crazy is yawn tier. It's almost always the endgame of godquests. I really like what we are doing. Helping people, getting new followers, doing miracles, finding adventures and such.
>>
>>1380620
Wait, if Kurhu's followers are doing secret rituals in Tho'Tch's territory, maybe we should...accidentally expose them. Get Tho'Tch enrage enough to attack Kurhu.
>>
>>1381349
I'd be down for that.
>>
>>1381349
Just one problem. Kurhu has the Shadow domain so exposing him will be harder than you think.
>>
>>1381353
We don't need to expose him; just his followers. I think Tho'Tch will be able at least guess who put them there.
>>
>>1381357
I figure we can visit Tho'Tch's priests and drop some hints as to the whereabouts of Kurhu's devotees.
>>
>>1381367
Maybe say something vague like, "Where something burns, it rains." to show where the rituals are taking place.
>>
>>1381335
>becoming power crazy is yawn tier.

I agree completely. I like how we are starting out as a benevolent entity and I am interested in how we'll develop over time including if we make non-"optimal" domain progressions to fit the theme and culture of our deity and his followers.

It's much more fun to play a character with conflicting motivations than just another power mad psycho.

>>1381357
Sounds like a good idea. I'd be careful we not play our hand too hard here, though, so we should proceed with caution.

Speaking of subterfuge, I'm worried about Phezan agents infiltrating our city and poisoning and/or destroying the Oasis. Do you think we may want to invest in some holy guards for the water?
>>
>>1381381
>Do you think we may want to invest in some holy guards for the water?
It's why I suggested selecting a champion and a fellowship of defenders.
>>
>>1381381
Why not grow some plants to protect the water? We are a fertility god after all so we have a damn good green thumb.
>>
>>1381388
>STAND FIRM FELLOW CHERRY BUSHES!
>THEY ARE ABOUT TO BREAK THROUGH THE PALM TREE LINE!
>*gets hacked to pieces*
We need real warriors.
>>
>>1381397
Trees can be quite tough. There is a species of trees that can survive forest fires, bugs, wood diseases, metal weapons, and they live long time. We can strengthen the cherry bushes to filter out any poisons and tangle intruders.
>>
>>1381397
Lol.

I agree. Plant guards may be good long term, but for now our power is limited and we would be better off investing in human guards.
>>
>>1381404
Fair enough. We could also make dryads from the trees and bushes.
>>
>>1381397
I was thinking of carnivorous maneating plant that kill anyone not of our faithful or doesn't recite some prayer or something or something of the like.
>>
>>1381411
How about anybody entering the our people's domain with intent to disrupt the peace.
>>
>>1381414
Good enough.
>>
I think we need a more defensible position for our followers. If they they are well enough fortified the other gods will have to use miracles to overcome them.
>>
>>1381599
We as their god have to fight the enemy gods. The people fight the enemies' followers. That's why we need to create infighting among the war gods. They're too powerful together and individually.
>>
>>1381628
But the more effort they expend and sacrifices they have to make to kill our followers the better. We need to only be able to stall them for now.
>>
>>1381599
We could have moats made for our followers settlements.
They'd be able to control the only quick entry point and it'd be easy to pick off anybody who tries to cross the moats.
Fits with our water of life thing too.
>>
>>1381646
For reference we don't have a water of life "thing", never did.
>>
>>1381655
Thanks for clarifying. Our moats could double as rivers making the land more fertile, like our springs.
>>
>>1381646
Also moats make us a bigger target for Phezen since he will attack any fertile land or large body of water.
>>
>>1381646
We just need to make our people stronger than them. It's our key power. A lot of our enemies are weak with thirst and famine and the other Anon has it right. Moats will just make us bigger targets.
>>
>>1381677
Damn. Maybe some type of wall would be a better idea.
>>
>>1381693
Maybe we could make some type of super fruit or give the water in the springs some type of divine properties?
>>
>>1381703
Why not turn the settlement into a plateau or mountain range? We could do it slowly over time too.
>>
>>1381734
Like having the winds blow away the sand over time revealing the mountains the settlements sit on top of?
>>
>>1381737
We are not limited to using wind since the only domain we actually have is Fertility. Rain is actually outside of our domain. We also need to limit the amount of water we use as to not attract attention from Phezen.
>>
>>1381761
We'll probably be able to defeat Phezen before too much longer. He is the weakest of the war gods.

In addition to the mountain stronghold, we can have the wastes of the desert serve as our fortress. If we control all the water near our fortress/city any (mortal) attackers will die of thirst and hunger long before our population, if they can even traverse the desert in numbers at all.
>>
>>1381783
Again, causing some type of infighting between the local gods would probably do us good. It at least weakens one of our competitors and gives us time to build up our position.
Ratting out Kuhur's followers and keeping attention away from us would do us good.
>>
>>1381783
The problem with Phezen is that he some of the worst domains for us to go up against and because of them with with a little bit of planning on his part he and his followers will be able to wipe out the settlement even if we're stronger than him.
>>
>>1381783
Ah, I don't think there's any mountains in the desert we can use. Well, mountains that are close enough. We need to do this stealthy with words, half-truths, and sabotage. After they're weaken, use full force to win.
>>
>>1381811
>Thinking a god needs to look for a mountain.
Where do you think you are?
>>
>>1381815
How long would it take for us to make a mountain?
Can we even do something like that stealthily?
>>
>>1381820
>>1381815
That will be just a big sign saying "Here we are! Kill us!".
>>
>>1381820
Do you notice the continents moving? Yes we can do it stealthily the only problem is time. And it doesn't need to be a big mountain. 1000 meters is good enough.
>>
>>1381822
I was just posing questions that would eventually come up.
I'm still for spreading rumors and putting pressure on the followers of the lesser gods.
No reason to get our hands dirty if somebody else can do it for us.
>>
>>1381829
In my mind the big risk of trying to stir up infighting is the war gods might see through it. We could end up drawing their attention more than if we just completely abandon their petty warring kingdoms to set up our own oasis city. That way we won't even be taking worshippers away from the war gods and would just be building our own power base while they fight among themselves.
>>
>>1381858
I suppose. Stirring shit up before we even have to seems like a recipe for trouble.
We should just be focusing on doing right by our followers in light of possible retaliation.
>>
>>1381858
Anon, they're war gods, They don't care even if we didn't take away followers. We're a new god and they will think of us as a threat. Would you like it if someone was taking away your friends just because he had stuff to give?
>>
If you guys want to quickly acquire more followers than offering extraplanar travel to the Urnodos people could do it.
>>
>>1381867
Obviously the war gods will hate us. That is readily apparent. I'm just trying to think about how we can keep that hatred from reaching a critical mass for as long as possible while we build our strength. They may consider us minor and be distracted by each other until we're too well established to be easily removed.
>>
>>1381882
You mentioned this before. I suspect inter-planear travel is limited. We may be able to pull a great exodus for our followers, but we would give up our foothold on the desert plane to do that. We also don't know what limitations there may be on our young gods ability to hold open the doors between worlds.
>>
>>1381882
I think that would better suited as a reward for followers once they pass.
>>
>>1381882
Let's not open that jar. Who knows what would happen.
>>1381884
They hate us because we're the opposite of them. At best, they will see us as a cow who will give more life for them to kill. At worst which will be sped up if we directly attack, they work together to kill us or at least attack full force individually. We spread our faith while we distract them with infighting is the best way I think.
>>
>>1381898
I think we agree on most things. I suspect the root of our disagreement here is whether or not we should actively promote additional infighting between the war gods and risk earlier discovery, or passively observe their infighting while trying to draw as little attention to ourselves as possible. There are pros and cons to both arguments and ultimately I would be fine going either way.

alright it seems so far that the plan is to try and trick the three war gods to fight each other while we take our followers and fuck off into the desert and use our powers to create a bunch of oasis or just one huge area of fertile land for our people to live and thrive off of. Then using our fertility powers have our followers bang each other until we have more followers then any of the war gods so while we might not have as good of fighters as them we can outnumber them.

If so then can we use our powers to make it that our followers will birth twins and triples and what not more often then not and that giving birth won't hurt as much and that the mother is far less likely to suffer any birth complications? Also can we grab fruits and veggies from the other world where we have some followers and bring them here to help feed our followers?
>>
also have an idea for an afterlife seeing how we're going to get a crap ton more followers and that it seems we're probably going to have to get into a few fights before we can claim this world for our own.

Since our domain is a tropical island that is completely untouched by civilization excepts for the marble ziggurat in the center that itself is cover in vegetation and the whole island is surrounded by the sea that itself is surrounded by fog a bit further out what I thought up would be that our followers would wake up on the edge of the jungle right before the ziggurat. If they chose to venture out into the jungle they will turn into a beast (they turn into whatever animal they saw us as) where they still can speak and have their mind. The idea here is "he who makes a beast of himself get's rid of the pain of being a man". Here they can explore the island to their heart's content or just mess around and do nothing all day. They would be able to tell other followers from just random animals that already inhabit the island from a glance so they'd never confuse one for the other.

If they chose instead to head inside the ziggurat they will stay human and find a large well lit city that seems far to large to fit inside the ziggurat they saw outside. The city made of the same overgrown marble the ziggurat is with only the roads ever really clear of vegetation. The city would be full of kitchens, gardens, theaters, and more for those who wish to pursue things like cooking, music, poetry, or whatever form of art they wish. The city would even have a arena for those who like more exciting forms of entreatment and many homes for those who wish to simply bang without the whole city watching. Those in the city and those in the jungle can freely walk back and forth between the 2 whenever they wish.

We'd be sitting on top of the ziggurat where we'd be surrounded by servants and entertainers to serve us and guest who would be whoever wishes to speak to us. I mean the whole reason we would open up the afterlife is to get rid of our loneliness, so why not swap stories and jokes with our people? And should we ever wish to be left alone we can send our will into the land so all who dwell their will know to let us be.

also punishments for those that do something that we don't like.

If someone does something that messes with others who live on the island like attacking others or just doing something that makes them an asshole I also thought of something to make sure people don't ruin things for everyone else

minor/first offense
the person will find themselves in a small marble cell with a marble bench for them to rest on. the cell is well lit and they will stay in the cell until it is felt that they have served their time. Then one of the walls will open into a marble hallway that eventually fades into darkness. Once they walk into the darkness they will emerge into the jungle from a shady spot. If they turn around and search for the marble hallway they will never find it, only jungle.

Second/moderate offense
they will find themselves in a small cave with no way out and is poorly lit. They can still see but not that well. The floor is uneven and uncomfortable to be on. They will sit in this cell until their time has been served then the ceiling will open flooding the cell with water. When the swim up to brake the surface they will find themselves in the sea near one of the beaches of the island. If they search for the cell they were just in they will never find it.

Third/major offense
This time they will find themselves in a small cave again but this time the floor is still uneven but now also flooded to about knee hight. The water will rise up to the person's chin during high tide only to lower to knee hight again in low tide. The person will be constantly cold and wet and miserable. When their time has been served the cave will flood completely until the person blacks out. They will then wake up washed on to one of the island's beaches. The will not be able to find the cave they were trapped in.

forth offense/royally fucked up
The person will find themselves in a large cave filled with sharp and jagged rocks that will poke and cut the person. The floor is very uneven and the water (know only ankle deep) keeps the floor slick. During high tide the water rushes in and bashes the person against the rocks repeatedly while constantly pulling them under the water until low tide. They will stay here until being exiled on one of the ships of rebirth (will talk about them in a minute)

Lastly rebirth
The idea here would be that once in a blue moon, at a sunset, a small armada of ships will sail out of the fog and beach itself on the island. We will then lead all those who wish to go from the ziggurat to the beach where the ships of landed. This time however the people following us will stay human. Once on the beach their will be a party that last until dawn. At this party both animal followers and human ones can interact and everyone can party long into the night (which we can make last as long as we want). Then once it starts to feel like the party is dragging on a bit to long we will the sun to rise. Then those who have grown bored of the island, those who wish to explore beyond it's shores, or those who just feel it's time to move on will instinctually move towards one of the boats and hop on. The fog will part and the ships will sail themselves into the opening where the fog will then close back around them. Those who served us well in life or served or entertained us on the ziggurat will be drawn to beautifully designed boats that will seat only them or a small group. Their voyage will be smooth and calm waters and the fog will be light enough that they could see and talk to other people on other luxury boats. People who nether impressed us much in life or did anything to earn our ire will be drawn towards more plain looking boats that can hold anywhere from a dozen to a hundred or more. Their voyage will be a bit choppy and the fog will prevent them from seeing or speaking with anyone on any different ship then their own. People who lived cruel lives will be drawn to crude and poorly mad boats. Their voyage will be as if they were sailing through a small storm. The sea will spray them, they'll get splinters from form the boat, and will not be able to see anything past the fog. The last boats are prison boats for heretics (who somehow still ended up in our afterlife) or those who got 4 marks against them on the island. These ships look like they'll sink as soon as they touch water and those trapped within will be chained in cages where they constantly have to fight to keep their head above water, the boat will give them splinters that will cause them to blaster and give them soars across their body. Their voyage will feel like they are going through a hurricane.

ok this is getting longer then I thought sorry bout that folks. One more I swear.
>cont.
>>
>>1383368
Once the ships hit the fog the people sailing will start to fall to sleep where they will have on final dream and their bodies will slowly fade from the afterlife and be reborn.

Those on the luxury ships will have magnificent dreams and will be reborn into a life where they are most likely to live happy and full lives (most likely because you never know when some dick head god could ruin it). They will also be blessed for their past life and in this life be beautiful.

Those of the plain boats will have mundane or weird dreams and will kind of be born wherever they end up. They will not be blessed to be reborn beautiful but they will never be anything less the plain.

Those in the crude ships will more then likely be reborn in troubled homes and will more then likely be reborn ugly as a reflection of their sins of their past life. And finally those who were forced upon the prison ships will be reborn deformed and will act as a warning for any of our followers who have earned our ire to change their ways or this may happen to them one day as well. Also used to curse our enemies by having it so they will only bear deformed children.

Once all the old passengers fade from the ships they will turn around and head back towards the island where they'll always arrive at sundown for it to start all over again.

sorry of the text walls, didn't think it would be this long. As for me I'm going to pass out now. Night

>>
These endless desert sands tire you, and your followers wander across the hellish wastes. This is not fitting, and this cannot go on. You need a grand citadel, an oasis the likes of which Yatash has never seen, a bastion for the faith. But where? A mountain, mayhaps? No, the rock wouldn't be able to sustain agriculture of the scale you've envisioned, and terraces are a foreign concept to the mortals of Yatash. Other concerns aside, you don't have the power to form a mountain within a generation without crippling yourself, and such a vast landmark would paint a target on your back.

No, the best place is the oasis where you first spoke to your prophet. Though it is small now, in time it will grow to encompass the whole of Yatash, and it fits the whole Rain God theme you've got going on. You appear to Goliht in a dream, and show her visions of the oasis you first appeared, of heavenly rain turning the dry sands to fertile soil, and of nature's bounty filling the land. You show her visions of tens of thousands of worshipers of Telantes, each of them thirsty, in need of fulfillment, of her preaching to them, and leading them to the growing oasis, where they can find peace. You speak,

> "This is what awaits Yatash. This is what I bring. Even now, the oasis thrives. Go to the four corners of Yatash, gather your people, come to the oasis, and be fulfilled. So says Telantes."

Before leaving her to ponder her dream. You have faith in your prophet, and you're sure she'll get the idea. In the meantime, the oasis could use a bit of precipitation. In a blast of thunder, you appear in the skies above the oasis. You lift your hands, and mutter in a divine tongue, at your command, the filthy dust within the clouds becomes the cleanest of water. You lift your hands higher, and clouds coalesce, you lift your hands ever higher, until a rain-cloud large enough to blot out the sun manifests.

The rain-cloud pulses with barely contained energy, and is full to bursting, yet you continue. You chant in your divine tongue until you can chant no more, and you lift your hands until you can lift them no more, yet you continue. Finally, when you simply cannot go on, you shout with passion and release, with a crackle of lightning and a bellow of thunder.

And it rains.

The rain is so powerful, so intense, so truly divine, that it shines as if it were gold, and the sands it touches are changed into the finest of soil. Exhausted, you sit on a cloud and watch. The cloud rains for thirty days and thirty nights, before it has no more to give. Even then, it has forever changed the desert, and rain will bless it each day. Already, the oasis spreads across the land at a rapid, soon its bushes, vines, and grasses will conquer the field. The palm tree shudders, and bears fruit, spreading its seed across the land. In a mere week, you see saplings sprout from the dirt, in two week's time they'll become full size. You have made paradise in the desert.

> To be continued
>>
>>1383470
It fits perfectly. It was shaped by us. A marble zigguratt covered in flora is good. Fertility is primal and we reign in a tropical realm. We're not a god of fancy.
>>
>>1383530

For now, it's only a few miles wide, barely enough for a small city, but that's all you need at the moment. Soon, the first settlers arive, and begin to build mudhuts, too awed by the palm trees to harm them. Every day they praise your name, and every day more arrive. By the end of the first month, each of your followers arrive, and every week, more and more hear of Telante's mercy and come into your embrace.

> ...

It has been a full year, and the oasis citadel has grown to sustain 60,000 of your followers, nearly a third of the western desert nomads. Many refuse to believe the legends, and many more are too devoted to the Gods of Yatash to move. The word of the oasis has spread, and it is only a matter of time before it reaches the attention of the War Gods. So be it, your power is one and a half times as great as it once was, and you are, if not their equal, powerful enough to put up a good fight.

Every day, you feel slightly more in tune with the rain, and if you can gather 140,000 more followers, you will gain the Rain domain, an invaluable boon to your efforts. In the year, several matters have come to your attention.

> ...

> Shortly after the birth of the oasis citadel, you appeared to Goliht in a dream and ravished her. When she awakened, her carnal juices covered the entirety of her hut, she flawlessly remembered the dream, and realized she was soon to be with child.

> Before it is possible to explain, one must understand the progeny of the Gods. Assuming a male God impregnates a female mortal, there are two possibilities, a Godblooded mortal, and a True Demigod. If a God procreates without expending power, its child will be Godblooded, as it only recieved the divine energy from the God's semen. If a God procreates and expends a significant portion of its divine power, the child will be a True Demigod.

> A Godblooded mortal receives some superficial traits of their divine heritage, an affinity for one or more of their divine father's domains, and lifespan twice as long as their mortal mother's, but are otherwise the same as any other mortal of their mother's race.

> Godblooded mortals are able to reproduce with normal mortals, but their divine blood thins with each generation, until they are indistinguishable from any other mortal, usually by the fifth generation. Godblooded are able to reproduce with other Godblooded, and their children will display traits of both divine bloodlines, unless they are of the same divine bloodline, in which case their children's divine bloodline won't thin.

> To be continued
>>
>>1383530
>>1383535

> A True Demigod, or Demigoddess, contains a part of their divine father's power, and is essentially a God in mortal form. A True Demigod receives a few superficial traits of their mortal mother, Godlike power over one or more of their divine father's domain, a lifespan thrice as long as their mortal mother's race, and the ability to passively regain their youth if they spend extensive time in their divine father's Godly Realm. They appear to be an idealized version of their mortal mother's race.

> True Demigods, or Demigoddesses, are able to reproduce with normal mortals, though their children will be Godblooded. If a Demigod reproduces with a Godblooded mortal, the child's divine bloodline will be stronger than their Godblooded parent, but weaker than their Demigod parent's. If a Demigod reproduces with a Demigoddess, their child is a Demigod, or Demigoddess with traits of both of their divine bloodlines. If both the Demigod and Demigoddess are of the same divine bloodline, the child's divine bloodline won't thin.

> As Goliht's child is to be the first progeny of Telantes, it will be a True Demigod, (or Demigoddess). As a Demigod, (or Demigoddess) is no mortal, Goliht will be pregnant three times as long as she would be for a mortal baby, and it will take three times as long as it usually does for a Hu-Mohn to reach full maturity.

> If you were willing to, you could ensure that the child is male or female, determine its overall appearance, and to some extent, the focus of its divine powers, though that isn't natural, it wouldn't have any adverse effect on the child.

> ...

> Over the course of the year, a thick wall of palm trees, vines, and hardened mud has come to surround the perimeter of the oasis citadel. It's only as durable as a wooden palisade, but it keeps out desert predators, and is certainly better than nothing. If you wished, you could improve on it.

> Two of the five river kingdoms have gone to war over a succession crisis. Judging by their comparative power levels, it should last at least a decade if no one intervenes.

> In the far east, the desert sands tremble.

> You feel a weak but insistent tugging from Urnodos, and feel someone there may be trying to contact you. If it were one of the elder Gods of Urnodos, you would have no doubt whether or not they were trying to contact you, so it must be one of your mortal followers.

I'm a little disappointed our kid will grow up knowing their father is a specific god, since I'm a sucker for heroes with unknown divine heritage coming into their own through merit and slow discovery of their powers, but I don't see any way for that to really be viable here. I suppose there isn't. The kid is gonna take over two years to be born anyways. We still have plenty of time to make a decision.
>>
>>1384571
I don't think we need to muck around with the kid. There isn't really anything we need to do.

I have a feeling we will be doing lots of time skips in this quest, seeing as our kid will take 40 ish years just to reach the maturity of a teenager.

I'm also wondering how young our followers need to be for us to get benefits from their worship. As a fertility god we can easily increase the verility of our followers, which means even without immigration we could technically hit the 200,000 follower threshold in around 5 years, but with most of them as infants or children.

age is just that our cells lose there fertilit and verality and get wore with spliting so we can bullshit around wuth age we are just making there cells more fertile?
>>
>>1384737
Your sentence is kind of all over the place there, buddy.

I believe we are just increasing fertility in "normal" ways: e.g. Greater chance of twins or multiple offspring, greater chance of conception, more easy birth with lower risk of health complications, increased hormone levels to make everyone horny, religious commandments to fanatical followers telling them to fuck all the time, etc.

I'm pretty sure we're not doing things like magically decreasing the length of time it takes to be born or grow up or anything like that. I imagine such alterations, if possible, would take substantially more of our power to execute.

>>
>>1385160
Akun might get a lot of flak but it isn't that bad and that's where questing will go if the situation on 4chan doesn't change. Simply put quests were never capable of having their own board because only a handful of quest were actually popular enough to survive. Hell if you actually checked Akun you'd notice that rarely does it have more then 10 quests active at once
>>
>>1385192
Discord is fine. The main problem with them though is that they tend to get bloated with a million text channels if you're not careful.
I'd still recommend OP getting a Twitter before anything.

I don't know why smut QM's don't just run here and post the smut parts on like a pastebin or something.

>>
>>1385229
Then what's the point of Akun? It seems the only thing it has over /qst/ is no smut restrictions and a live chat.
>>
>>1385215
We should really try to keep the smut to a minimum if we want this Quest to have staying power. Luckily it seems like most other anons and Op agrees. I'm not super familiar with Akun, but if it's likely to attract a more... "unsavory" crowd I'd say keep it on Qst with a twitter at least until we're well established.
>>
>>1385245
>"unsavory" crowd
Where do you think we are?
It's generally an overlap of browser on /qst/ and Akun. The only difference is some things are allowed there that aren't here and what goes on reflects those differences.
That said, it's usually more of the same over on Akun only there's a live chat.

Strangely enough it actually varies between quests. Some audience will outright reject smut which will surprise the author of the quest. Though without a doubt the fastest way to get popular is smut.
>>1385238
It's vastly more convenient then /qst/ (even if its a broken mess) and the site is moving away from mindless smut quests (they still exist though) and are diversifying and rapidly increasing in quality.

That's hilarious because they're not protesting if they keep coming here to tell Anons to go over to Akun. If their quests are better then they should let the quality of their quests attract people instead of shilling the site.
>>
>>1385298
Anon I liked better quests back when they were on /tg/. I follow Shadow Quest, most of larro's quests, a few Dran quests, Banished quest, and smattering of many other quest that came and wheat.
Many of these quests are long gone and the attitude that questers had seems to be dying out. Not to mention /qst/ is flooded with people who don't know how to run a quest or are new to questing and suffers from the problem of "too many shepherds, not enough sheep". That's not to say I don't follow quests on /qst/ but those I do are fucking ancient.
>>1385307
I'm not telling you to go to Akun. I'm telling you that Akun will thrive and /qst/ will die a slow and painful death until it becomes a lifeless place like 8ch's /quest/ is. Dedicated quest boards are destined to fail.
>>
For some time, you ponder the benefits of shaping your child in Goliht's womb, but decide against it. You're a Fertility God after all, it would be a disgrace to disturb nature's most beautiful canvas before it's even begun to paint. Or some other "deep sounding" metaphor, you're no poet God. Maybe you should acquire a poet at some point... Hmm, best to dwell on that later, more urgent matters take precedence. You whisper into Goliht's dreaming mind,

> "I have done much, and even the greatest of Gods must rest. Be patient, and do not lose faith, for I will soon return. So says Telantes."

With that taken care of, you split the veil between realms, and enter the portal to your Godly Realm. It might be faster to travel straight to Urnodos, but you feel much more comfortable traveling to your Godly Realm first, if only to see it before you leave.

> ...

Ah, home sweet home. The scented air is ambrosial compared to the smog of Yatash, and witnessing the fertile pulse of nature at its finest after such a horrendous journey is almost beyond your comprehension. You slow the flow of time in the Godly Realm, giving you a bit of time to relax, and let your worries drift away.

You spend most of your time bathing in the plentiful, crystalline lakes, wandering the thick, vibrant jungles, and staring into the clear, gently raining sky from the comfort of your throne. It is beautiful, no doubt, but it needs something... more. When almost a week of slow-time has passed and you've been reinvigorated, you open a rift between worlds, and step through, closing it in your wake.

> ...

The oceans of Urnodos are usually beautiful, and you suppose they still are in an intense, primal way sort of way. Thrashing waves thunder across the sea, angry volcanoes belch ash, and furious hurricanes cut through the islands. This isn't the Urnodos you're used to, something must've happened, what, you don't have the faintest idea. Perhaps whichever mortal is summoning you can explain further.

You follow the gentle tugging to a barren coral island's cave, it becomes stronger and stronger the closer you get, and when you enter, the air twitches, and the tug ceases. A high-pitched, almost whiny voice cries out with giddy enthusiasm,

> "TELANTES! I KNOW YER DERE! C'MERE, C'MON ! I GOTTA ASK YA SOMETHIN'! SOMETHIN' SPECIAL!"

You hope you aren't dealing with a madman, those can get so troublesome. Your mind peers deeper into the cave, where a cozy, if sparse room awaits. The ceiling is low but not uncomfortably so, moldy woven grass rugs adorn the floor, a primitive lamp gives off a soft glow, and a stack of papyrus scrolls takes up an entire wall. A thin, scraggly teenage Hu-Mohn sits huddled over an ash circle, obviously meant to draw you to his abode. He wears a patchwork cloak, and a dozen-odd charms, perhaps half of them functional. He seems eager to meet you, and you have nowhere better to be.

> Telantes, how do you appear to this young mortal?

You manifest just outside of the cave, and put on airs for the mortal's sake. You adorn yourself in the finest golden finery you can summon on such short notice, every bit of your body is sculpted to the epitome of perfection, and of course, your signature mask lies upon your face. The mortal's abode doesn't have a door, but rather, a few poorly stitched grass curtains, so you knock on the stone wall. Immediately you hear loud crashing noises and an exasperated groan,

> *Thunk*Thunk*Thunk* "AAAAGHHH!!!"

before a noise as if someone were running as fast as possible. Almost catching you by surprise, the mortal bursts through the curtains and tackles you. Caught off guard, you shove him with a gust of wind, and he flies backward, sprawled out on the cave floor. His eyes are as wide as coconuts, and he stammers for a moment, before gaining his composure.

> "W-w-w-wow! Yer a HUNK!!! Er, for a male deity of course, I-I don't have homosexual leanings, h-honest to goodness, I'm just stating fact because you're just so... so... Wow!"

Beneath your mask, you raise an eyebrow. The mortal seems to sense the gesture, and jumps to his feet. He points at you,

> "HOLY SHIT! I'VE DONE IT! I'VE REALLY, REALLY, REALLY FOR REALS DONE IT! I'VE SUMMONED A FECKING GOD! CAPITAL G, FREAKING GOD! CH'RAD CAN GO SUCK MY..."

You cough,

> *Ahem*

and the mortal's eyes somehow grow even wider. He falls to his knees and bows repeatedly, kissing the admittedly well-swept floor.

> "I, I meant no offense yer, uh, Godliness! 'Tis but a gesture, n-nothing more! P-please don't smite me I'm just so happy!"

You sigh,

> "Get on your feet, and tell me, what's so important you had to scream across the planes to get my attention? I'm a very busy deity, and don't have time to waste."

The mortal takes a deep breath and rattles off a string of garbled muttering which you understood perfectly, but for his sake, you motion for him to repeat himself, slower this time.

> "TELANTES! HAVE YE NOT HEARD? THE HORN OF BUHJATTHA THIR'THAX BECKONS!!! AHAHAHAHA!"

You shake your head,

> "No, no I have not heard of the Horn of Buhjattha Thir-Thax... Care to explain?"

The mortal nods furiously,

> "Come inside! It's going to rain any minute now, and I've got a pot of tea cooking! Oh yeah! Me name's Thirn'Ip'Nit!"

It has been raining for weeks, and likely will for weeks to come, and you doubt this mortal's tea is worth it, but you oblige out of curiosity.

> ...

> To be continued
>>
>>1385591

Ten minutes later, you're levitating slightly above the mortal's cushions, and listen to him speak. He's just finished reassembling his scrolls, which he knocked over earlier, destroying his ash circle, which he insists wasn't to bind you, and serving you a cup of his tea, which was indeed worth it. You take another sip, refill the cup with a flick of your wrist, and say,

> "Could you go over that one more time?"

He nods,

> "O-of course, y-yer Godliness, where'd ye like me ta start?"

You absentmindedly wave your hand,

> "Take it from the top."

He nods for a minute, most likely rehearsing what he's going to say in his head, before speaking.

> "Ye've heard of Buhjattha Thir-Thax, da God of Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Thunderstorms, Gluttony, Rhythm, n' about a dozen other things no one cares about, right?"

You nod, and at the same moment thunderbolt deafens both of you, before the mortal continues,

> "S-sorry 'bout dat Buhjattha! I meant no disrespect,"

Another thunderbolt,

> "I-I'm sorry once more, Buhjattha Thir-Thax, yer Godliness!"

The thunderbolts cease, and the mortal nods.

> "Ye've heard of him, we all have. In all da old legends, he does a whole lotta nothing mosta da time, but when he gets off his-, er, when he feels da need ta do something, it's da stuff of legends, right?"

You nod in confirmation, and he continues his story,

> "Right, right. So ye see, Buhjattha Thir-Thax, he has a thing for mortals doing things, right? Quests n' wars n' such, ye know? Keeps him from getting bored when he wakes up, n' keeps him from gettin' mad n' erupting, ye know? So according to the legends, Buhjattha Thir-Thax has a diamond horn, forged by da Gods, so dey say, and once, once every few hundred-odd years, he has a contest!"

Your curiosity is piqued,

> "A contest, you say?"

The mortal responds,

> "Yuh-huh! It's great right? Anyway, the Buhjattha Thir-Thax has a dungeon, called the Maw of Buhjattha Thir-Thax... To be honest, it's not a very creative name, n' I've got a list of better ones in a scroll somewhere 'round here..."

Thunderbolt.

> "Er, uh I mean, it's an OMINOUS, ORIGINAL, AND AWE-INSPIRING NAME THAT FILLS MY HEART WITH DREAD!"

Thunderbolt ceases.

> "Right, so like I was saying, he has a dungeon called the Maw of Buhjattha Thir-Thax, n' at it's very bottom, he's placed his horn. Only once every few centuries does the Maw open, n' when it does, all o' nature gets it's dainty bits in a twist, as I'm sure ye've noticed, ye being a Fertility God n' all..."

> "Yes, I've noticed the weather."

> "RIGHT! So, a few weeks ago, every priest everywhere fell over one day at high noon sharp, not the most creative time, but..."

Thunderbolt.

> "I'M SORRY!"

Thunderbolt ceases.

> To be continued
>>
>>1385591
>>1385594

> "ANYWAYS! All da priests fell over, dere eyes glew red like magma, n' dey all said, "Da Horn O' Buhjattha Thir-Thax beckons," n' woke right up not rememberin' what happened. So, like everyone knows, excluding yerself, yer Godliness, accordin' to legend, dat's a sign for all ambitious young men to travel enter da Maw, get da horn before anyone else, n' blow it at the openin' of da Maw, n' den, accordin' to legend, Buhjattha Thir-Thax appears in a great flamin' cloud, all mighty n' such, n' grants one wish to whoever gets da horn!"

You slowly nod,

> "And what, might I ask, does this have to do with me?"

The mortal stops for a moment, deep in thought, before speaking,

> "I need yer blessin' to make sure I get da horn! Da Maw's full o' dangerous beasties n' deadly traps, n' I'm a magic man, not a hero! If ye help me, I survive, n' get da horn, dere might be a burnt ram er two in yer future, know wha' I'm sayin'? Huh, huh?"

He winks several times,

> "So, whaddya say?"
>>
>>1385596
I like it, but we would need more than a few burnt rams.

I can't think of anything better than that that we need, though.
>>
>>1385596

>Lad, as entertaining as this contest would likely be, and as much as I admire Thir-Thax's sense of...taste, I have a much bigger concern a plane over. While the wish is tempting, I'm not the sort of God to consign another realm to oblivion for a few moments of personal gain and entertaininment, and thus cannot give this contest the attention it deserves. But thank you for alerting me. Here's some advice on how to get a woman. Not a girl, mind, but a woman."
>>
>>1385596
>Ask him what he wants to wish for. He went through all the effort of summoning a literal god, he must have a specific wish in mind.

>>1385617
Having a magic man champion could be decent. He could perform miracles and such for us on this plane and maybe get us a few more followers like our prophet. Or could be a traditional champion for combat and such. He's certainly got attitude, I'll give him that.
>>
>>1385646
Yeah, but do we really want THIS GUY to be our champion?
>>
>>1385646
Worth noting that it's only the TOTAL number of followers that gets us a new domain. Not just on a single plane. If we can get more followers here, we can pick up the rain domain to help our followers on Yatash.
>>
>>1385653
We can have multiple champions once we're stronger. Besides, making a zero to a hero is a good test for us.
>>
>>1385653
He's got personality at least. And is at least slightly competent at magic if he could summon us. If worst comes to it we can just smite him and be done with it. Or hell, even let him die of old age. Mortals are so temporary.

We really need to ask what his wish will be, though. I'm nervous it could be something we don't like if he doesn't bother to tell us.
>>
>>1385665
Why not ask him for his wish?
>>
>>1385665
If he's asking for a fertility god's favor then it's either female related or just thinks we can help him.
>>
>>1385672
If it's female related we can help him on our own, he doesn't need the special magic wish to get it necessarily.

>>1385670
We should ask him what he will wish for because he has something specific in mind I expect. If that's the case he probably won't give up his wish to us unless we can fulfill it another way (such as by improving his looks, youth, verility, etc)
>>
You know I want to try flirting with the other goddess.
>>
I can believe I didn't realize it. If we can fulfill his wish we can ask him to get the wish for us so we can use it to save Yatash.
>>
>>1385737
Yes, that's (in part) why I said to ask him what the wish is. I'm pretty sure another God would be much less able to grant one of "our" wishes than the typical wish of a mere mortal, though. The god may be able to help out in our inevitable fight with the war gods, but most likely won't make an eternal pact because we backed this one mortal and gave him an unfair advantage in the race for the horn.

Heck, we may just want to pop out for a bit and chat with Thir-Thax and see if he's cool about this. We are peers, after all.
>>
>>1385737
Like other gods would want to grant the wish that will help us. That would indirectly help us and I don't think any of the gods are the helpful type. They only tolerate us because converts still give praise to them.
>>
>>1385746
It never occurred to me that Thir-Thax might not be cool with us helping. I'm changing my vote to consult Thir-Thax first.

>>
This thread is absolutely amazing. I've never seen a god quest have such an excellent start or capture my interest so thoroughly.
>>1385737
My vote is behind this. Ask the god first, ask him for his wish, and then decide whether or not to help him. He seems kinda flaky to me, so I'm not fond of making him a champion, and I'd rather we get back to the important things in the other plane.

However, I will admit he is a being of some power. He was able to shout across the planes, which means he's not worthless. I'll make a decision on whether to bless him later, but if we do grant youth/virility/strength/protection/whatever, it should be conditional to his worship of us. I don't want him flaking after we invest in him. Hope we won't have to monitor his trek though, as fun as this is, I worry about Yatash (which for some reason I keep pronouncing as Yutani).
>>
>>1386202
Just finished reading the entire thread and I absolutely agree. Top-tier storytelling so far, OP.

>>1385737
Could work, but how can we be sure that he won't get greedy and use the horn for another personal wish?
>>
>>1385737
I say let him have his wish, but make it that he owes us a favor that we can call in at any time. Or if we forget about him and he dies then that favor will move on to his next of kin.

In response to this anon's question,

> A domain is an area a particular God has power in, such as lightning, chaos, or bravery. Domains aren't exclusive to individual Gods and Gods often change their domains over time. Many elder Gods have many domains, but most younger Gods have fewer domains.

> As a general rule of thumb, the more specific a domain is, the more power the God has over the domain's sphere of influence. For example, a God of a highly specific disease has more power over that disease than a God of Plague, but has much less versatility.

> There are many ways to gain and lose domains, a domain is part of the essence of a God, and by extension, how mortals view that God. The three most common ways to gain domains are worship, artifacts, or trade.

> If a God of Booze markets himself as a God of Parties, and all of his mortal followers begin to worship him as a God of Booze and Parties, the God of Booze is likely to gain the Parties domain. This goes both ways, however. If the God of Booze's followers begin to worship him as a God of Sobriety, he might lose his Booze domain.

> Artifacts often hold immense power, and when they are absorbed, it is likely that the God absorbing them will gain the domain the artifact whose power the artifact was forged to hold. A sword that was forged to be the incarnation of flame would be likely to give the God absorbing it the Flame domain.

> Occasionally, Gods trade domains for favors, artifacts, or other domains. The reasons for doing so are varied, say a Goddess of Healing and Compassion gains the Suffering domain from an obscure but fanatical cult, this is unfortunate, because it goes against the Goddess's image, and she might lose her more benevolent domains. The best way to resolve the problem is to trade the Suffering domain to a more unscrupulous God in exchange for a better domain, or a useful artifact.

> Gods gain power from worship, artifacts, spreading their domains, and cannibalizing the power of other deities. The more devoted a mortal is, the more power a God gains from its worship. A small but fanatical cult of 10 mortals is equal to a religious movement of 1,000 who only pay lip service to their deity. Mortals are able to worship via prayers, sacrifices, and following their God's commandments.

> Gods gain power from the possession of artifacts, much in the same way they can gain domains by absorbing the power of artifacts. Gods gain power from spreading their domains, heightening their influence on a plane of reality. A God of Agriculture is much more powerful in an idyllic farm-world plane, than he is in a rocky, feral plane.

> When a God slays another God, they may cannibalize them for a chance to gain one or more of their domains, and roughly half of their overall power. Cannibalization is one of the most effective ways to gain extremely large amounts of power quickly, but most Gods frown on this, for obvious reasons.

You nod, before giving a response,

> "Hmm, an interesting proposition, to be sure, but a mere two ram's sacrifice? Not nearly enough for my blessing. Become my Champion for life, devote yourself to me, and I will consider."

Thirn'Ip'Nit's eyes widen, and his voice is incredulous,

> "N-no! I, I, c-can't, if I'm shackled to yer service, da wish is moot!"

You give a slight nod,

> "And what, might I ask, is it you wish?"

The mortal scratches his head, and spills the beans. Judging by his tone, he's obviously given this quite some thought, but this might be the first time he's ever confessed to someone.

> "I-I want Independence! I want immortality, n' da power to travel between da planes n' blaze me own trail, I don't want ta be beholden ta any God, I want ta rule me own self! I don't wanna be a God neither, don't want ta put up with managing an entire religion, n' dere's no reason one fella to have so much power, I just wanna be free to not have ta care what da Gods think, n' not have ta follow da God's commands. That, n' maybe a new set o' scrolls, I'm fresh out o' 'em, n' I got a few neat ideas I ought ta put down on papyrus. If ye helped me out, I could do a coupla favors for ye down da road, sound good?"

That's interesting, very interesting... You speak,

> "That's interesting, very interesting, but before I agree to help you, I'll have to check in with Buhjattha Thir-Thax, to see if he'd have any complaints about me granting a mortal on a quest for the horn my blessing."

The mortal laughs nervously, and his eyes wander the room,

> "Heh-heh... Heh... Er, I-I s'pose fair's fair... Ye go right ahead, n' let me know what ye think."

You nod, and vanish in thin air before his eyes.

> ...

You are standing at the mouth of the largest Volcano in easy flying distance, if you were serious about meeting Buhjattha Thir-Thax, all you'd have to do is jump in, but that might be a bit presumptuous. Then again, indirectly summoning him might make you look weak.

The volcano practically radiates divine power, and it almost certainly leads to the Godly Realm of Buhjattha Thir-Thax. Not wanting to offend, you release a faint wisp of your essence into the magma, moments later, the volcano gives a gentle rumble and the heat seems to recede somewhat. Recognizing the invitation for what it is, you dive in headfirst.

> ...

You find yourself standing in a vast, obsidian cavern. The humid air is filled with smoke, the ground shakes each step you take, and dozens twisting, shifting columns of magma hold up the cave. You look over your shoulder and realize you entered through one of the columns, with that in mind, the rest of the columns are almost certainly portals to and from the volcanoes of Urnodos.

You stand for a moment, unsure of yourself, when a booming, mirthful voice echoes through the cavern.

> "BOY! IT'S BEEN SO LONG SINCE YOU'VE VISITED! I'D THOUGHT THAT DESERT HELL-HOLE DRAINED YOU DRY! HAH-HAH-HAH!"

Elder Gods... As far as most go, Buhjattha Thir-Thax is a good conversationalist, and friendly enough, but like all Elder Gods, he's somewhat patronizing to you, for your youth and relative lack of power. You rub the soot out of your eyes and are able to view the entirety of the cavern without issue. It's much larger than you'd thought originally, literal mountains of treasure are scattered across the room haphazardly, masterful obsidian sculptures adorn every available surface, dozens of creatures formed of obsidian and magma skitter and slither across the floor, and at the end of the cavern lies Buhjattha Thir-Thax himself.

He reclines on a vast throne, and though his body seems to weigh at least three thousand pounds, you know every bit of his fat could shift to muscle in an instant. His brass skin glows with warmth, his eyes are literally on fire, and apart from an excessive amount of tribal charms, trinkets, and a loincloth, he is naked. A few dozen scantily clad, beautiful, young women tend to his every need, feeding him grapes, fanning him, and massaging his bulk. For a moment, you're confused about why dozens of beautiful mortal women would reside in his Godly Realm, but then remember that he's a tropical Volcano God.

His slavering maw rips the leg off a roasted hog, he speaks with his mouth full, and his chin dribbling with grease. He notices you and cries out once again.

> "BOYO, IF IT ISN'T MY FAVORITE MINOR GOD! HAH-HAH-HAH! WHAT BRINGS YOU TO MY GODLY REALM! COME TO FEAST, OR SHOOT THE BREEZE, OR ARE YOU HERE FOR SOME OTHER REASON?"

> Telantes, how do you respond?

Strength includes physical toughness genius and we're trying to get the Strength domain. And if we give him a bunch of boons it will exhaust us. We need to conserve our power.
>>
>>1389068
How about giving him strength buff, filling him out so that he doesn't look like a slight breeze will knock him over, and giving him a wee bit of combat training.

Also making him significantly more attractive on the side, because we are a fertility god after all.
>>
>>1389139
>we're trying to get the Strength domain.
Didnt know we were set on getting this domain.
Also lets keep in mind of what we want from the mortal before we bless him with anything.if he wishes for and receives god like powers after getting the horn, what do we have to offer him?>>1389068
>>
>>1389160
>we're trying to get the Strength domain.
I didn't know that either. I mean, it's a nice domain to get an all, but I don't think we've all decided that's a goal we want to get just yet.

As for what we request of this mortal: We can say that there will be a day, and this day may never come, that we will need to ask him or his progeny for a favor. And when we ask for this favor he must do it immediately, unflichingly, and completely.
This young kid successfully summoned a God. There's a good bet he's well on his way to being a super powerful "mortal" wizard and in that case having him in our pocket could be a nice Trump card to have.
>>
So what kind of god are we making?
>>
>>1389068
>Oh, the usual. Peak Human body, a touch of divine magic, an echo of mine own charisma. Just something to put him on par with the other champions one can expect in a proxy contest like this.
>>
>>1389375
Between Fertility and our coming Rain domain, we've got a chance at a God of New Life theme going.
>>
>>1389382
Seconding
>>
>>1389382
Thirding.
>>1389398
That's what I'm aiming for. It has so much utility.
>>
>>1389382
This. He needs to be a mini-us to have a chance here.
>>
>>1389382
Fourthing
>>
>>1389471
>>1389398
Not interested to be honest. I'd rather focus on being a god of manliness.
>>
>>1389541
Do you realize how much a god of New life and Fertility could influence a population? Crops, healing, Increased fertility rates, healthier children. There's a reason some of the most important gods in early mythology were fertility deities.
>>
>>1389814
You forget anybody can have those domains. We need a more specialized domain to help out our followers since the Life domain is very weak.
Have you seen the domains of the other gods we're up against?
>>
>>1389851
Well since we already got rain, how about we up that to water and then we could control the ocean/seas.
>>
>>1390013
Water is less specialized than rain, actually, since it is a more general subject matter. I think we could transition from "Rain" to "Storm" pretty easily, though. And storm gods definitely can hold their own against war gods in battle.
>>
>>1389382

I was waiting for a consensus, expect an update in the next hour or two.
>>
>>1390013
Any water related domain is going to be weak in Yatash as is any life related domain.
>Gods gain power from spreading their domains, heightening their influence on a plane of reality. A God of Agriculture is much more powerful in an idyllic farm-world plane, than he is in a rocky, feral plane.
The other gods aren't going to give us a chance to spread our domain and the other god have spent a lot of time spreading their domains in a plane where their domains are the status quo.
Then there is Kurhu and his Cannibalism domain.
> When a God slays another God, they may cannibalize them for a chance to gain one or more of their domains, and roughly half of their overall power. Cannibalization is one of the most effective ways to gain extremely large amounts of power quickly, but most Gods frown on this, for obvious reasons.
Which doesn't sound too bad until you remember this.
>Normally I'd have you roll a 1d100 to see if Telantes managed to impregnate her, but he is a Fertility God, making pregnancy a given.
Which means domains give passive bonus to the god to anything related to them. I want you to imagine what bonus a Cannibalism domain would give.
We need a domain that is specialized, can be used to protect our follows and ourself, and is highly effective in Yatash.

There are so many long running quests with crap writing I'd say he's above average for overall quest writing quality, and certainly well above average for just starting out, which is why this quest has so much potential.
>>
>>1390353
>he's above average for overall quest writing quality
There was a time when this quest would have easily considered below average in terms of writing and storytelling but a lot of those don't run often anymore or are dead.

Of all time or currently running? One of my favorite of all time is Ogre Civ quest. It still disappoints me it died.

Both I suppose. I like reading the old threads although still active ones are the most fun.

My favorite still active quest is Hive Queen Quest.

> "Oh, the usual. Peak Human body, a touch of divine magic, an echo of mine own charisma. Just something to put him on par with the other champions one can expect in a proxy contest like this."

Buhjattha Thir-Thax chuckles, his rolls of fat rumbling, and replies,

> "HAH-HAH-HAH! BOY, YOU'RE A SMART ONE! HAH-HAH-HAH!"

You raise an eyebrow,

> "How so?"

The volcano God claps his hands and the walls tremble,

> "YOU, YOU SERIOUSLY THINK I'D HAVE A PROBLEM WITH GODS BLESSING MORTAL CHAMPIONS FOR THE HORN? HAH-HAH-HAH! GO AHEAD BOY, YOU'VE GOT NO PROBLEM WITH ME!"

You scratch your head,

> "I don't follow, I thought you'd find it unsporting, at the very least. After all, it's a competition between mortals, and-,"

He cuts you off, unable to contain his mirth,

> "YOU ARE JUST A BOY AREN'T YOU! DON'T YOU KNOW? THIS ISN'T A CONTEST BETWEEN MORTALS, IT'S A WAGER BETWEEN THE GODS!"

You're somewhat flabbergasted.

> "Huh? What do you mean it's a wager between the Gods?"

His ivory teeth shine,

> "HAH-HAH-HAH! OH TO BE THIS NAIVE! BOY, THE GODS OF URNODOS HAVE BEEN HERE LONGER THAN URNODOS HAS EXISTED! LOOK AROUND, IT'S A FUCKING PARADISE, WE PUT A LOT OF TIME INTO MAKING IT, AND WE AREN'T ABOUT TO DESTROY IT FOR THE SAKE OF OUR EGOS! AT LEAST, NOT ANYMORE!"
> " BACK IN THE OLD DAYS, WHEN WE HAD AN ARGUMENT, WE'D BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF EACH OTHER AND IT WAS GREAT, BUT AFTER THE THIRD CENTURY WE OF PIECING URNODOS BACK TOGETHER, WE DECIDED TO USE MORTAL PROXIES TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF EACH OTHER INSTEAD! IT WAS THEN THAT I CAME UP WITH THE MAW!"
> "THE HORN AND ITS WISH ARE JUST A PRETTY PIECE TO MOTIVATE THE MORTALS! IT'S ALL JUST A GAMBLE BETWEEN THE GODS! WHOEVER'S CHAMPION CAN SURVIVE THE MAW, GET THE HORN, AND BLOW IT AT THE MOUTH OF THE MAW GETS THE POT, WINNER TAKE ALL! IF YOU WANT TO JOIN IN, YOU'RE WELCOME TO, BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO PUT UP SOMETHING WORTH HAVING! 'COURSE, SINCE YOU'RE NEW, AND IT'S YOUR FIRST TIME AND ALL, WE'LL GO EASY ON YOU!"

Over the next two hours, Buhjattha Thir-Thax explains what's at stake in the competition,

> The Domain of Scent,
> The Domain of Mist,
> A minor artifact, the Ax of Ruination,
> 18,000 Virginal Zsysokti souls,
> Enough treasure to buy a small plane,
> And some prime volcanic real estate

This is quite the revelation... That said,

> Telantes, do you want to join Buhjattha Thir-Thax's wager? If so, what do you offer? As you're a Minor God, and this is your first wager, your offer doesn't have to be equivalent with theirs in value.
>>
>>1390675
> Telantes, do you want to join Buhjattha Thir-Thax's wager?
Yes

>If so, what do you offer?
Offer support for the winning god for some century? Our mask? Maybe offer a item that helps one to summon rain...
>>
>>1390717

We can gain followers back. We don't really have anything else to risk that isn't worth more.

>>
>>1390741

I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes, but if you lost, you'd have to collect them.

>>1390744

One of the strange and alien mortal races I mentioned earlier. For the sake of expediency, they are essentially what would happen if you combined an octopus and falcon, and twisted them into a vaguely humanoid shape. They known for their extreme flexibility, cruelty, and knack for a few more obscure kinds of magic.
>>
>>1390785
Followers on a dying plane are are not that attractive.
>>
>>1390675
10,000 Fanatical followers from Yatash who worship us as a savior and will do whatever we tell them to do (including follow this other god).
>>
>>1390795
>you'd have to collect them
Be a little more clear here what do you mean by "collect them".
>>
>>1390675
Offer to bless some of their crops and people, proving a harvest far above what could be expected and a modest population increase.

Clearly we wouldn't bless ALL of their worshippers, or every farm, but enough to be allowed in.
>>1390750
Fuck no, you utter madman.
>>
>>1390809
No not interested.
>>1390675
I vote to stay out of it. Our followers are likely to be killed while we're fucking around here.
>>
Why are people considering giving up our followers? Just offer to spend power blessing theirs.

We don't need to match the offers, they understand we're new.
>>
>>1390675
>>1390812
Actually, I'll change my vote.

We could offer to help out whoever wins in their sexual life. We are a fertility god, after all, and if this pantheon is anything like the Greeks the whole thing's a seething soap opera behind the scenes. Even the most proud of elder gods might accept a little help from us in their love life. It might take a bit of investment from our power, though.
>>
Actually, I like the idea of offering our mask.
>>
>>1390812

There are many ways to do so anon. You could slowly funnel their souls as mortals die and go to you, you could claim that you were [INSERT_DEITY] all along, you could physically gather them, you could give [INSERT_DEITY] free reign to collect the mortals themselves, there's a lot of ways to go about it.
>>
>>1390795
Hey QM, how long would this contest last? And is the time progression roughly the same between realms? If it is only a couple months, I'd be fine with it, as turns usually last a year, but I don't want to spend years here playing a game while our followers suffer.

As fun as this is, I'd rather not let our followers get fucked up over it. We haven't made paladins or defenses yet.
>>1390841
>>1390850
Why is everyone trying so hard to lose us something valuable? Is offering to bless their people not enough?
>>
>>1390860
>>1390850
>>1390841
You guys do realize there is no reason to accept his proposal when the risks are clearly not worth it. We could just focus on helping our followers and ignoring this entire load horseshit.
>>
>>1390887
Eh, I figure if we offer something that won't completely fuck us, there's enough in the pot to at least aim for it. If nothing else, blessing captain Flakey would give us a favor for later.

I did not expect people to start going full retard and giving up large portions of our followers, our mask which protects mortals from immediate death and is probably an artifact, or our goddamn immortality.

I figured giving the winning god a small population boon and extra fruitful harvest would be enough to get us in without weakening us overmuch, so we'd have enough energy to go back to Yatash. Still am waiting on the QM's response though.
>>
>>1390860

The competition has already begun, though it may be months before a mortal is able to retrieve the horn. Then again, it could be days. Who knows? Time flows slightly faster in Yatash than Urnodos, at a 4/5 to 5/5 ratio, though a blessing of the sort you've had in mind would only marginally reduce your power level, and there's nothing stopping you from traveling between realms,
or simply abandoning the contest altogether.
>>
>>1390911
>I did not expect people to start going full retard
In quests always be ready for full retard.
>>
>>1390816
>>1390841

These are both entirely valid wagers.
>>
>>1390922
Then I vote to fuck off this entire thing. It's already started and we might be too late.
>>
I vote for being a cocky little Shit and saying we will fix there sex lives. Fits our personality and is humorous and confident enough that they would probably accept while costing us nothing.
>>
>>1390841
You know, I change my vote too, if they'll accept it.
>>
>>1390911
I think most people (I hope) aren't going full retard.

I suggested just offering to help the winning god out with their love life. I don't think that's a big sacrifice even if we do need to spend a bit of power. We already spent a ton of power on the rain, etc. This would be a small investment in comparison and plays to our strengths.
>>
>>1390841
>>1390953
I'll consolidate behind this vote. It doesn't lose us power, and hopefully doesn't get us smote for being insufferable/bringing their sex lives into question.

Backing
>>
Wait if you guys are going to be doing this how long will we be doing this?
>>
>>1391055
We'll see. It may be days or months, but so long as it isn't a year, I'm okay with staying. We can always reevaluate that based on how far what's his face progresses. Thirn something-or-other.

If you remember two of the five river kingdoms is in a war over succession (potentially for the next decade), and something is going on in the east. However, the turn structure is based around years, so leaving for a month or two doesn't mean events are already coming to pass.
>>
>>1391092
Not what I fucking meant. How long would we be handing out Viagra for gods?

>>1391101

>>1391121
That's a shit offer on all levels.
>>
How's about we just play it safe and give put up 1,000 years of extremely good harvests through a blessing? Or something like that.

>>
>>1391254
>1,000 years
That's disgusting amount of divine power.
The more listen to you guys, more I know that this competition is a retarded.
>>
>>1391271
I don't exactly know the scale of our powers so I was just spitballing.
We really stand nothing to lose from joining the competition and we have a chance at a whole bunch of shit.
The only thing bad about it is we're struggling to come up with something to bet.
>>
>>1391283
Yeah, we don't really know what to offer, or the extent of our divine powers. I think that's the biggest reason we've been having difficulty finding consensus on this.

I think we're all just trying to come up with something that's in character, is actually worthwhile (won't be seen as insulting to the other gods), and that we can afford to give given our relative poverty as a very young God.
>>
>>1391294
Don't we have a kickass throne we can offer?
>>
>>1391301
It was the first offering ever given to us. It was originally a shitty offering, but since it was our first one we accepted it and eventually shifted it to being a pretty descent throne.

I suppose we can offer that, but it doesn't seem very original. The other gods also probably already have kickass thrones they'd prefer to ours. Plus it's giving away a chunk of our history. Even if it's less valuable to others, it's more meaningful to us.

Technically we can offer it, but I plan on winning the contest so hopefully we won't have to actually do whatever we bet.
>>
>>1391313
Can't we just zap up something cool or make an enchanted weapon? Why not make a new mask that has an aura of seduction or something like that?
Whatever we choose, I have a good feeling about crazy so long as we can train him in slowed time first.
>>
>>1391301

Kick ass throne would be good I think, we have very little in terms of actual value but this has got huge symbolic value, especially if we end up getting powerful
>>
>>1391324

This is entirely possible, it's all up to you.
>>
>>1391334
Then I say we make a Super Sexy mask.
>>
>>1391301
>>1391294
>>1391325

>Give up on the competition that costs us virtually nothing and could give us a whole bunch of shit?
I mean if you wanna miss out on the loot, sure.
>>
>>1391350
>I mean if you wanna miss out on the loot
The loot aren't worth this headache and there will always be another. This was a bad time for OP to bring a competition like this up.
>>
>>1391364
We should be focusing on our followers in Yatash, but it's not like we'd really lose anything or put anybody at risk if we put our lot up in the contest.
But I'd go either way.
>>
>>1391380
>it's not like we'd really lose anything or put anybody at risk if we put our lot up in the contest.
That actually depends but seriously this entire thing was too early for the OP to bring in he should have wait until after we finished with defeating the other gods on Yatash.
>>
>>1391401
Again, while I'd like to put up for the contest, I don't really care all that much. It doesn't seem like something we'd pay attention to until it's over anyways,
I'd still be down for making a neat trinket to bet with though.
>>
Come to think of it how do you make artifacts?
>>
>>1390675
>Telantes, do you want to join Buhjattha Thir-Thax's wager?
Yes

An artifact that provides a decade of rain. Can be used intermittently.

How about you go wine somewhere else faggot I'm sorry you can't be perfect in every quest.

>>1390953

>>
The QM has a pretty solid majority for helping the god out with their sex life. The sooner he ends this the sooner we can proceed with doing cool stuff.
>>1391334

>>
>>1390841
>A few dozen scantily clad, beautiful, young women tend to his every need, feeding him grapes, fanning him, and massaging his bulk. For a moment, you're confused about why dozens of beautiful mortal women would reside in his Godly Realm, but then remember that he's a tropical Volcano God

I dont think he needs help in that department.....maybe keep the fertility juju for the mortals. We are fertility god not love, he might not want baby gods.
>>
>>1392496
he's not the only god in this you know, he just host it
>>
>>1391666
Satan it's the beginning of the quest. You do realize you're suppose to define the character, give the players a taste of what's to come, and get people invested. Not only does this not really do any of that but it gives trolls and idiots a chance to fuck us over which has never been good for a beginning quest. Also people have no idea what to offer without some suggestions on his part. What about this contest isn't poorly thought out?
>>1392240
It's actually not a majority but at this point I would probably take it at this point if I were him.
Also beginners almost always try to please everyone and wind up pleasing nobody, which is a trait they have to outgrow or get lucky with their audience. Our OP's problem is that he waits for a consensus while we argue mostly because he doesn't understand what his players want and lacks a common sense understanding of quests.
>>
Is OP die?

>>1393163

No, but I won't be able to update for a few hours.

>>1392999

> 999

Duly noted. I'd intended the quest to be a sandbox more or less, with some overarching story elements. I don't see how Buhjattha Thir-Thax's wager interferes with this. I've got something planned, no need to worry.
>>
>>1393172
No worries m8 he's just being overly critical. If he cared so much he was would run his own quest. The wager is fine but I do a free this vote has gone on too long
>>
>>1393172

Don't sweat it, I would definitely call the vote after this but I like the more open ended feel, we're a god after all we should have a lot on our plate.

I am voting for the Wingman plan
>>
>>1393172
There's always someone who will criticize a quest no matter how long it runs. You're doing great so far.
>>
>>1393172
The only thing he said that has merit is that we need some more guidance on your part in the early stages. We have very little clue what we can do or what would be an appropriate wager, having some suggestions from the start would have saved us a lot of hassle.

Outside of that, I don't think showing us other worlds was somehow a mistake just because we had a good thing going in Yatash. The contest itself takes place on a time frame that we can observe without being paranoid about Yatash falling apart, while still being interesting. I also think the current winning response (playing wingman/ helping the god out in their sex life) is a very good character defining scene.
>>
>>1393489
Agreed
>>
>>1393172
>I'd intended the quest to be a sandbox more or less, with some overarching story elements
So Banished Quest more or less.
>I don't see how Buhjattha Thir-Thax's wager interferes with this.
I didn't say that it did, I was actually saying that it was the wrong time to introduce it and that after dealing with the war gods on Yatash you should have introduced it since the players would need something new to occupy their attention. Constantly bringing in new shit to do when they are already doing something leads to the same problem Banished Quest and Skyrim have, too many sidequests.
>>1393489
>No worries m8 he's just being overly critical
Honestly I'm actually being light on the criticisms. OP seriously need to work on writing characters since it is his weakest point and this is going to be a character driven quest from what I can see so far.
>If he cared so much he was would run his own quest.
Prove I'm not.
>>1393425
Criticism is a good thing. Hugboxes and mindless flattery are very bad however since they do nothing constructive. I mean what do you like about his writing? The fact it's not filled with poor spelling and grammatical errors? That some very low standards there.
I'll tell you what I don't like about his writing. While his descriptions pretty good his character writing is somewhat weak, as I have already said. Problem he seems to have is writing character with any amount of depth beyond a cardboard cutout and humor. Whenever he tries to write a potentially interesting he tries to inject humor into the situation which usually falls flat and disrupts the scene which can hurt immersion in the quest. Most QM have areas they excel in for example Larro mostly did serious drawquests involving some amount of sex when starting out but eventually found his niche in humor, shenanigans, and character interaction. Kaz on the other hand excels at writing characters, dialogue, action, and a well developed setting but uses a barebone system he made that he feels is lacking (it's basically Tri-Stat which was shit). Blorp originally started out running a quest called EVO quest which started off as a quest about a small lizard and eventually goes over the top like all of quest do. Banished Quest started off a little slow but really picked up after the mask incident, most of its fun came from combat and exploring the setting.
Overall I suggest OP experiments a little with his writing, maybe check out some of the older quest and see how they do dialogue. As for speeding up voting there is a reason most quests have switched to a choose an option format with >write-in at the bottom and thanks to ID's it's easy to see whose voting for what and spot blatant samefagging.
So how did that sound anon?
>>
>>1394058

I acknowledge I'm probably going to be an ass here, but handing out false criticism is my pet peeve.

Okay, look. I get that you're upset that we didn't monofocus on Yatash, but justifying that with false criticism isn't cool. It makes authors think they have a problem even when they don't. If Skyrim had the problem of a single sidequest intruding on the mainquest it would be an entirely different game. "Constantly bringing new shit to do" isn't something he's done, it's just that what he has done is take our attention away from what you want.

On your criticism of his characters, it's unfounded. The central character, Telantes, is someone with whom he's done a good job characterizing through proclamations, dialogue, and internal thoughts despite how little we've done to help that along. Or are you saying he should be faster in characterizing our avatar when we've yet to do much to characterize him? We've met three characters outside of that, and they were completely different from one another. An obese, boisterous volcano god, a twitchy native who wants to be free of gods, and our prophet. Of the three our prophet is the least fleshed out, but it has only been a single thread. Even still she still was characterized well when first introduced, in the scene where we filled the well. The other two have been fleshed out amazingly well for the limited time they've been introduced.

You rag on some poorly defined sense of humor intruding on the narrative, but what are you actually talking about? The only time I've seen this humor was the aftermath of sex with the prophet as the entire hut was covered in fluids. Is it in the features of the prominent characters? What humor does he try to inject into characters? What part of each character makes them seem like cardboard cutouts and why is that bad in a quest where we are a god (where a human acting like a cardboard cutout is justifiable when they are so far beneath us)?

How do you justify this criticism with so small of a sample size? He's barely written anything, and most of that was establishing the setting (which he did well). It's extremely disingenuous to say that introduced characters lack depth when he hasn't had enough time to give them depth.

On a different note, if you are going to criticize someone's work you should use specific examples rather than vague ones for the sake of clarity. It also helps if you are able to say what you think he could have done (in those specific examples) to fix it.

For all that I disagree with the majority of what you've said, you are right that more characterization would be appreciated. It almost universally is. The OP should also feel free to experiment and find what he feels comfortable with. Having some suggestions and a write in at the bottom of the list is something that should be considered in the future as well.

Wait, he's pissed we're not in Yatash right now? Hello?! Doesn't he know a god has to been in different places to help to his/her followers? Also, we needed a break to regain our strength. It does us and our followers no good if we're weak. So far, QM is doing a good work of writing. Needs a bit of work but it's only the first thread.

What I like about his writing is how he's made a god quest with characters, purpose, and a setting that interests me. The individual characters we see aren't just random savages in various stages of development or solely gods.

The setting itself is where the OP thrives. He's made a multiverse (?) filled to the brim with competition, challenges, interesting sights to see, and fun things to do. He did an absolutely beautiful job of fleshing out a created character that originally only had a name and that he grew out of a bush. I mean just go reread Telantes introduction. The detail work is amazing, even throw away lines hinting at more context and backstory. I also really enjoy how he keeps the mythical tone of our interactions with mortals, but relaxes that when we're talking to fellow gods.

How well he put together both worlds surprised me. Each world has it's own interesting backstory, and the peoples living there are as much a character as the individuals we meet. Even though we haven't met many in person, we've learned enough about the various gods to be able to predict their reactions through his description of the settings. We could have predicted Buhjattha being okay with our interference solely through how chill the gods of Urnodos are about our interference there.

He's made a game of godly thrones, but didn't lose us within the first couple updates. We've been kept on track rather than left to flaff about creating things on our own, even though we could have We have a goal and threats to keep us focused on gaining power rather than let the quest fall apart as we just fuck about making stuff without purpose. He didn't overwhelm us at the start, filled us in with the basis of what we needed to know, and is diligent in answering questions we have on mechanics or the setting. I'd say he's done an excellent job handling mechanics so far even if they remain vague.

The half you wrote about QM recommendations isn't what I had a problem with. I even agree that he should try to find his own style (even if I think he's well on his way to developing one).

How about you take the time to write out a response? I'm sure you want to get caught up in technicalities, like "it was only a bad time to introduce it because the war gods are over there". Well, the war gods were there the entire year we were operating. They are no more or less likely to attack in the next month than they were before. It remains baseless, as he clarified we could go back to Yatash at any time.

That fact that you didn't even take the time to be more specific in your vague criticisms is pretty insulting. At the very least you could have clarified for the OP's sake.

I hope that one Anon's criticism didn't scare him off. This quest was so promising it'd be a shame for it to end so early.

OP, if you're there, don't take it so hard. From what I can tell the overwhelming reaction to the quest so far has been positive. I hope you're able to continue it.
>>
OP, if you are going to update you should make a new thread, this one is just about to 404.

Thank you anon, this really means a lot.

I will deliver in due time, but due to circumstances far beyond my control, the update most likely will not come today. I wish I could, but I simply don't have the time.

>>1398416

I welcome criticism with open arms, it helps me grow as an author and an anon. That said, thank you for your concern.

>>1398426

Don't worry, this thread has at least three days left, possibly four, and I've got a plan for the next thread's opening I can't put into motion until I've updated.

Where's the twitter/Gab.ai/something that can allow us to keep track of the quest's status?
How about a pastebin for important information that the players old and new need to know?
How do you intend to keep track of important information for this quest? Will you keep notes for important information and keep spread sheets to keep track of the flow of time between planes and follower count?
And finally how will you handle managing our followers and ventures across the many planes? Keeping track of that is going to be a clusterfuck no matter what you do.

I also have many fluff related question for you but you should first focus on the ones above.

I know that feel Anon. I had hoped this quest would move forward, but I suspect some of the confused voting and criticism scared OP off - which is sad.

OP, while it would be a good idea to answer each of these questions, can we at least get confirmation on if you are making a twitter to keep us updated?

This is the highest level of faggotry I ever witnessed in a quest outside of furfaggotry. If it's that easy to chase him off then this quest was never going to last.

Anons, I've suffered an unfortunate accident and will be unable to update for the next week or two. The following greentext may seem far-fetched, but I swear by any deity you care to name that it's true, all of it.

> be me
> southwestern burgerland, deep within the hills
> late afternoon, rubbing pussy
> pussy is my cat
> forgotten about quest, suddenly remember
> realize anons need me to update
> willnotfailthem.jpg
> post, promise will update
> almost middle of update
> sudden flashback
> be me, yesterday
> visiting cemetery, to see grandma's tomb
> see old man's grave
> remember his life
> wife died, he dealt with it, he moved on
> toughasnails.jpg
> got depressed after two children die in car wreck
> two children left alive
> one turns out gay
> other turns out to be slut/radical feminist
> he's deeply religious fundamentalist
> tries to change them
> doesn'twork.jpg
> both children disown him
> he still loves them, but has nothing to live for
> he spends thirty years drinking himself to death
> be me yesterday, staring at grave
> no one left to care
> grave sunk in, no flowers
> resolve to change bad situation increases
> not enough daylight left
> drive home, sleep, forget until two hours ago
> clench fist in slight hate for negligent children
> stop rubbing pussy
> get wheelbarrow, rake, and shovel
> load in pickup truck
> drive pickup truck to cemetary
> open door to leave pickup truck
> thinking about quest, lose focus
> slam door
> on thumb
> broken thumb
> nail black, thumb swelling
> mfw
> forsake grave
> drive home, curse loudly
> neighbor asks what's wrong
> neighbor is decrepit, knobbly old crone, master of home remedies, possibly witchcraft
> nice grandmotherly person

Well that explains the lack of twitter. Still, if you can connect with whatever phone service you have, you can get a twitter to update us.

But, fuck, dude, I've had a door slam on my hand before, too. You're a brave soul for trusting grandma/witch.

I'm almost definitely getting a Twitter, I'll probably post a link next update, until then, just check /qst/ for the OP pic. I'm going to the clinic to get that shit x-rayed and get some antibiotics for the hole. The doctor's my friend's cousin and also knew the dead man as a child, so he won't charge me for it. Almost everyone's related here, it's pretty great, especially around holidays. If you don't already live out in the country, I'd heavily recommend it. Thank you all for your support, and don't worry, I'll be back online soon.
>>
>>1409383
That sucks man. If true, I hope you fix your thumb as soon as possible and take care of yourself.

I second the calls for a twitter, since it'll be easy for people to miss the next thread if we don't know where it is unless the lurk on qst all the time. But it's understandable if, in the midst of a busted thumb and everything else, you can't get a twitter up before thread end.

Good luck bro.
