A dark night in New Angouleme, the city that never sleeps. The sound of the streets below and the light of the skyline above, give a strong impression of liveliness well past the hours when decent folk turn in for a good night's rest. No better time then, for villainous activity! You wouldn't be the only one out tonight, doing so either, hopefully though you can pull this off without attracting attention. After an unfortunate accident which bestowed upon you strange powers, you became indebted to a villain and are serving as his sidekick of sorts for the time being. So far you've mostly just helped out with small things, little errands and chores here and there and felt more like a housekeeper than a dastardly individual. This is your first real job though, and on your own (with some help), so you hope to be able to succeed. If not as progress to becoming a villain in your own right, then at least as work towards paying off the debt.>A modern day superhero setting, in a big city rife with activity, of both heroes and villains alike.
>>1354518The job in question is to infiltrate the corporate offices of a security firm downtown, and to attach a transmitting device to an executive's computer. With this, your villain boss hopes to be able to steal some important information. So with the boss in open communication with you via an intercom and having provided information about the building, you've set yourself to the task. Currently, you found a little street restaurant that's still open and got yourself a table, across the road from the office building.Sitting by and trying to look inconspicuous, you watch the street as the cars and people go by, and you can hear the sounds of the city like horns and sirens in the distance. A chance just to take it all in, before you shift focus to the office building and the job. A little chilly out because of the wind, but you're dressed for it. Maybe a little embarrassing though since you're just in your normal clothes, you haven't gotten an actual outfit yet, either from your boss or making one yourself. At least like this though you can fit in with a crowd of people.>How do you proceed?
>>1354521Try to keep an eye out for any sort of Service personnel coming out of the building. With any luck one of them should have a key card or security pass that we can use after we mug them for it.What sort of powers do we have? Or is that something we'll find out along the way?
>>1354529You can maintain a watch on the building, but for one thing it's closed this late and for another you're facing the street side so it's doubtful that any service personnel are going to be entering or leaving through the main entrance. If at all, that is. You can of course move, this was just a convenient spot you noticed on the way over.As for your powers, they are rather strange and cosmic in nature. After getting blasted by dark energy during an internship with a research lab in the city, you actually fell out of realspace for a time. It was your villain boss whom managed to retrieve you with the use of dark matter, and constructed a safety device which keeps you rooted in realspace for as long as you have it with you.In practice, your powers stem from the accident though you are only just barely starting to get used to them. By using a number of gadgets provided by your boss, in unison with the dark matter properties of your body now, some interesting effects can be used. A basic one for example which you've already had some practice with is a Wormhole, a small thrown beacon of sorts which drags you through space to its location when triggered. You have a few others but your boss encourages you to try and see how far you can get without using any powers. Not that his approval matters, but that's that.
>>1354564Oh gotcha, well in that case do we have any sort of lockpicking tools on us? We should use a side entrance if so
>>1354583In your backpack along with the super powered gadgets you can use, you did bring some basics. Sort of nervous overpreparedness for your first villainous job, you included a simple toolkit but that may not suffice for the purpose of lockpicking. You can certainly try though, however your boss let you know earlier that the by nature of their business, the security firm likely has the building alarmed in places. Probably a safe bet, the doors at least.Still, it can't hurt to try anything. Would you like to relocate then, get closer to the building and get a better look of things if you can?
>>1354600Let's try to case the whole building for anything that might be a useful entry point
>>1354648So after gathering up what's left of your food and giving it to a homeless guy and then waiting for the crosswalk rather than jaywalking, because you're not *that* villainous yet, you cross the road towards the office building. Without trying to make yourself too obvious, from the outside you can see that there's some security guards stationed in the lobby area, though to be fair you're aiming for the top floor. Something your boss picks up on though while you make a round of the building, is that the place has exterior cameras in some places. Because of this you figure it may be for the best not to linger or circle around too much. At any rate, from your round of the place, it seems to you that the best point of access from the ground level would be via a back alley which has a delivery bay. Maybe the doors are alarmed, but you question if the metal sliding delivery door is. That's at least what you notice from the ground level. You could attempt other methods of searching, or if you like you can roll a d100 to do a really thorough search.
>>1354564Essentially?
>>1354710Maybe eventually. For now though you're only recently returned from being lost in subspace, and your powers are mostly reliant on the gadgets your boss supplies you with. You could try to experiment with what you have, but it might not be the best idea to try that while on a job, your first job.
>>1354727That's fine, im just trying to get an idea of what our power actually is
>>1354668>Try the metal door
>>1354731That might be something to discuss with your boss later since he's the one who understood it enough to bring you back. You can do a quick rundown of the powers you know you have though, to gauge what you're capable of.>>1354735So having located yourself to one of the backs of the building, you wait till you have a chance when it seems like no one is walking by and you try the metal door. While you can get a handle on it though, it seems like it may be locked from the inside. The good news is, that to your ears it doesn't sound like any sort of alarms went off when you messed with it. It may be best not to linger though as there are cameras back here, so you can only pose as a crazy homeless girl banging at the back door for so long, before you're taken seriously.
Rolled 22 (1d100)>>1354668Also>if you like you can roll a d100 to do a really thorough search.
>>1354753Rip to late
>>1354753>>1354758>22Unfortunately no, your more thorough search around the premises does not turn up anything new on the ground level. You've also seemed to have drawn the attention at least of the security guards in the main lobby who have now noticed you going past the front three times. They haven't acted yet, but it's bordering on suspicion now.
>>1354771I fugged us, sorry guys
>>1354771Well that didn't help.>see if we can somehow get to the second (first?) Floor from outside
>>1354805It would seem to be so, but getting a little paranoid you decide to back off from the building for a bit. Hiding in a side alley, just for reassurance you go over the powers you know you can use. They are separated into two categories, your safety harness which recharges every hour, and gadgets which have limited uses;>Harness (1 use per hour)- Redshift, decelerates you and lessens external effects- Blueshift, accelerates you and heightens external effects- Gravity Reject, for a short time negates the effect of gravity upon you- Subspace Trespass, by turning off your safety harness for a moment, you can slip through realspace- Quantum Fluctuation, by maintaining physical contact with something you can cause an energy leak, to the point of suspending the target in stasis- Troubleshoot, a hard reset which returns you to the state of the previous hour>Gadgets- 3 Superfluid canisters (small), when applied to something it renders it cold and frictionless- 3 Wormhole grenades, when thrown and activated, will drag you through space to the location- 1 Cosmic Shunt grenade, similar to the Wormhole, it will force freestanding objects to an external location- 3 Micrometeors, a tiny thrown meteor which with subspace propulsion, increases in speed and force over distance - 1 Inertial Reverb canister (small), when applied to something it renders it inert to kinetic loss>>1354822Attempting to reach the second floor specifically may be difficult since the office building lacks any sort of balconies or clear ledges. There is however a residential apartment building neighboring the office building, and actually reaches a height higher than it. From there, if you could gain access, you might be able to find a good point where you could attempt access across the back street to the office building.Otherwise you could attempt a d100 roll to do a proper search of potential second floor access points.
>>1354842Should clarify, every power under the Harness category can all be used once per hour (or once per recharge), not just one power from that list per hour, as may have been confusing.
>>1354842>Harness (1 use per hour)>BlueshiftGo fast enough to not be seen, place device, and get out in one go
>>1354864If only, you haven't tried it before but you're almost certain you wouldn't be able to move that fast. It can increase your speed, among other things, but not to the point of super speed.
>>1354842>head in residential building and see where you can get from there
>>1354926The residential building is closed this time of night, but by buzzing down the list of tenants, eventually one of them lets you in expecting you to be someone else probably. You get some angry complaints once inside and on the way up from people you woke up, but otherwise you don't face any trouble. So on the way up after several floors, you would assume that you're at a height at least equivalent to the top floor of the office building across the way. Your boss on the intercom also informs you as much, having the specs of the office on hand. You notice though that there's still a couple more flights of stairs upwards, maybe to the roof even? It's your choice if you want to go higher, or try and get into someone who lives here's room, so you can see directly to the top floor of the office via a window.
>>1354870Damit
>>1354953>Go higher
>>1354962Continuing up the remaining flights of stairs you come to a service door leading to the roof. It looks like it's supposed to be alarmed, but for whatever reason even when you try to open it, it happens without any trouble. Maybe the tenants requested it to be disabled due to constant use? That's your boss's guess. At any rate you're up on the roof of the residential high rise, the wind stronger and the lights of the city skyline brighter. Moving over to the streetside edge you look down to see the little restaurant where you were, along with the cars and people moving on by far below. Taking it all in, you move over to the other roof edge to see the office building and its roof a few stories below, with the back street at the ground level between it and the residential building. Just a cursory glance of the office roof, and you don't notice anything out of the ordinary. You could roll a d100 to take a closer look, but there's certainly no security guards around up there.>How do you proceed?
Rolled 41 (1d100)>>1354980>take closer look
>>1354994>41From your vantage point on this roof, you can make out at least one roof access point, similar to the one for this building. As well you can see some ventilation outflow ducts. You can also tell that there only looks to be only one camera up here though it looks to be focused on the roof access door.Beyond that you can't tell anything else. Hopefully there aren't any external defensive measures, and your boss doesn't seem to think there are.
>>1355029Well if noone else has ideas I'd rather get inside than waste more time outside.>thrown worm hole grenade on the office roof to teleport there
>>1355125Sure that's easy enough for you. Reaching into your backpack and rummaging around, you pull out a Wormhole grenade and attune it to your harness. Then moving back away from the edge, you get a running start and hurl it as far as you can, watching it soar through the air and hit the roof of the office with a small bounce before rolling to a stop. Seeing that as your chance, you take a deep breath and signal the grenade with your harness. There's a short delay as you see the grenade burst open in a starry smear on the ground about the size of a manhole. A similar opening tears open in the air before your harness, looking like a window into outer space. You're rather forcefully pulled through by the vacuum, a short trip through space whereafter you're ejected out of the other spatial tear on the office roof made by the grenade. Though since it's on the ground, you kind of get spat out upwards, landing a small distance away and hitting the ground with an "Ooof!"Pushing yourself to sit up, you look over to see the wormhole exit quickly close, leaving no sign of it or the grenade behind. That's one less gadget of that type now left, but you're on top of the office building roof so it's a pretty good trade off. Definitely you're feeling good about things, now just face with the challenge of how to get inside the building, either via an access point or some other way inside.
>>1355172Signing off for now here, but look forward/plan next for infiltrating the office building.>Thanks for playing
Seems like we're like a mix of Tracer and Corvo. See you next time!
Interesting start, well keep an eye out for next part.
>>1355181Looks promising, hopefully I can catch the next run. Being OP isn't that fun, hoping we don't become >>1354710
>>1355209>>1355280>>1357053Will be continuing here shortly, start figuring out how you want to proceed when play resumes!
>>1355172So, you've managed to warp your way over to the roof of the office building. The computer you seek is supposed to be on the top floor so you still have a ways to go, but you're much closer now than when you began. From your basic look of the rooftop, from back over on the residential highrise, you were able to notice one roof access door here (currently about 50 feet away from you), and two ventilation outflow ducts.>How do you proceed?
>>1357099Stealthily we shall move.>>1357125Look around, but stay out of the camera's line of sight.
>>1357197You shouldn't have any trouble evading the rooftop camera as long as you don't just walk right up to the roof access door. It's a static camera focused on the door and area in front of it.Still though you can practice your stealthiness, as you sneak around on the roof. Roll a d100 to see how sneaky you are.One thing your boss does remind you of over the intercom though, is to deploy the distracting device he gave to you. Since some of the super powered people in the city have super senses, it's a common tactic to employ some method of blocking their senses out in areas, that way they won't just detect a crime going on halfway across the city. Different villains (and even heroes) use different methods of this, but in your case it's a dampening gadget that you'd just set up somewhere in the vicinity, ideally where it wouldn't be tampered with.
Rolled 91 (1d100)>>1357208Does the dampening gadget have a self destruct or do we need to retrieve it?
>>1357223>91You're about as sneaky as is physically possible for someone in casual clothes. You'd be able to stalk someone as close as within ten feet and not be noticed. At least that's the impression you get, up here alone on the roof.It doesn't have a self destruct mechanism, which you suggest and your boss thinks is a great idea from here onwards. For now though he's not that worried though and thinks it's fine if you just leave it, it was pretty simple for him to make, and there's not many supers who would be able to trace it back to either of you. If you want to can come back for it but he thinks the chances are very low of it coming back to bite you.
>>1357236Well that seems like a useful object to cram beside one of the ventilation ducts up here. While we're there we can check the size of the ducts and see if we can shimmy our way inside
>>1357236Place in the rooftop ventilator >>1357125How powerful is Gravity Reject? If we jump down the ventilator, would it slow us down enough to not injure ourself?>>1357251If we place it inside, it might not get noticed for days, maby even weeks.
>>1357251>>1357255The dampener itself is too big to fit in the small available openings of the ventilation duct, though if you wanted to try damaging it to make a bigger opening to fit the thing, you can try.Same with trying to get inside yourself, you're too big to fit without damaging the unit. Your normal gadgets would fit though, like you could drop a Wormhole grenade down easily, and warp to wherever it comes to rest. And Gravity Reject is a complete void of gravity upon yourself. If you activated it while falling, you'd still have that downward inertia so it wouldn't help much. If you activated first though and then drove yourself downwards, you'd descend at that constant rate until interacting with something.
>>1357274Got it.Do we want to waste another grenade? Or do we want to use Subspace Trespass, which just has a cool off?
>>1357281That's your choice to make. For using Subspace Trespass, it's basically turning off your harness which causes you to fall out of realspace again. You'll end up passing through matter without trouble, if you give yourself enough inertia before hand. Like a running jump at a wall, turning the harness off, you'll fly right through the wall then quickly turn it back on and you'll land back on the floor on the other side. It's use is very dangerous though, so you can only do it for up to ten seconds, maybe, before you risk losing sync with realspace. And that would be bad, you'd basically be lost in subspace again, till you performed a Troubleshoot, or waited twelve hours till a Hard Reset.
>>1357310Well then lets not use Subspace. Throw a grenade.>>1357281Sorry op, was trying to engage any lurkers with the questions.Do the grenades have timers on them? Like set one for 3 hours, and if anything happens we get teleported out? Incase of capture?
>>1357324The grenades right now are pretty basic, later of course you can improve them. Right now they are just activated on command, no timer or distance traveled, or anything like that. If you're worried about capture though, a Hard Reset would get you out of that since it can forcibly return you to the relative position in realspace you were twelve hours prior. So say you got captured, as long as they didn't take your harness off and didn't have some sort of blocking effect, the next time the clock strikes 12 am/pm, you'd be ripped out of there anyway. If you want to chuck a Wormhole grenade down the ventilation duct though you can, just make a roll to see how lucky you are with it.
Rolled 31 (1d100)>>1357333o.O Luck.WORMHOLE AHEAD!Sorry captain, I actually meant the hole in the end of a worm.
>>135733731mehHopefully it doesn't land in a toilet, or worse, someone picks it up.
>>1357337>31The grenade can't be activated until it stops moving, and if there is enough space for you to safely warp to it, that way you don't end up warping inside a pipe or something and dying instantly. So attuning another grenade to your harness, you time the spin of the duct and chuck it down, hearing it bang and bounce around against the metal of the ventilation interior on the way down. After a little bit you can't hear it anymore, and get the notification that it came to a rest and that there is enough space for you. Other than that though, you can't know anything else about where it ended up. The final decision, if you want to warp to it or not? Also before you go, just to be clear, did you set up the dampener device or do you want to save it to set up later?
>>1357354Lets place the dampener on the other side of the ventilator, the side away from the door. Then lets get infiltratery.
>>1357358So after setting up the dampener in a spot hidden from the roof access door, you move to an open space and take a deep breath for the little trip through space. Triggering the grenade then, the same process follows, as a hole through space tears open and the vacuum sucks you through. Not a moment too soon, as you heard a helicopter approaching overhead, probably for something unrelated but why worry yourself any more? A cold feeling and a view of the cosmos, before you're spat out rather painfully in the small space of the bottom of a ventilation duct with a very loud, resounding metal bang. A yelp of pain too.Once the wormhole exit fades though you try to look around. It's very dark and cramped in here, so yes, you'd guess you're in the ventilation. You can't move back and looking up you can see where the grenade fell from. A ways ahead you can see some light though, coming in through a grate. Otherwise though, yes you're stuck inside the ventilation, able only to crawl to move around. No sound of alarms though.
Rolled 1 (1d100)>>1357374Lets crawl around, stealthfully.
>>1357378ShitThere goes our stealth.Parachutes aren't kites.
Rolled 63 (1d100)>>1357378SAVING THROW
>>1357378>1You decide to crawl around, feeling confident in your stealth powers from earlier. To you at least, it seems that way, as you crawl along on your belly. If someone were standing outside though they'd hear a bunch of banging around. As if that weren't enough to give you away though, when you reach the grate in the duct, you can see through to a service room below, where a security guard and a night janitor are discussing something. Interesting if you cared about the details of the building's plumbing, but you're here for something else! So attempting to crawl past, you misjudged the strength of the grate beneath you, and as you crawl across it, the whole thing busts open and clatters to the ground below. Screaming in panic, you were able to catch yourself from a nasty fall, but you're basically just scrambling to hold on with your arms and the weight of your torso, while your bottom half hangs out of the opening, your legs flailing and kicking in the air.You can't tell who it is, but from below you hear one of the guys in the room asking you something"...what the hell are you doing? Who are you?!"It seems you've been noticed!>>1357382Sorry man, forced fail. 1 is auto-fail, 100 is auto-success.
>>1357388Use gravity reject, bluff that you are a ghost of a cat burglar, here to haunt the guards that killed you.
>>1357404Just to be clear, that won't make you look like a ghost. If you think not being subject to gravity though is a good enough attempt, you can go ahead. Either way make a roll to see if you can be a convincing ghost.
Rolled 5 (1d100)>>1357407Ghost of personal regrets!
Rolled 70 (1d100)>>1357413GeezWhy are you people rolling so low?I wanna lurk dammit
>>1357417>>1357413>70In a panic, you try to pretend that you're a ghost and convince the guys down below in the room. It's not the worst excuse in the world, there are people with necromancy powers so undead, ghosts and such are a provable thing these days. Your struggle to keep from falling though, certainly doesn't help.At any rate you hear some mumbled conversation between them, and it seems they sort of buy it? One asks what you want, o vengeful spirit? The other though is asking if he should call this in, and seems pretty sure that he should.
>>1357420Lets phase out for a second, using Subspace Trespass. And for you to pass on, you must not be caught or called in. Inspite of your clumsiness.
>>1357423Make a roll for further convincing of the two!As for the Trespass, is there a direction you want to try to aim for? Like if you let go and fall, then activate it, you'll continue to fall down and just pass straight through the floor. If you swing your body weight forward though and activate it, you'll fly in that direction passing through any matter.Basically which way, if any, do you want to try and end up phasing through?
Rolled 15 (1d100)>>1357425
Rolled 65 (1d100)>>1357425O.o ROLLING o.OFlick
>>1357428>>1357427>65Eh, combined with the Trespass display it might work. Again though, which direction are you trying to aim for?
>>1357425O.o ROLLING o.OFlickering in and out of existence should help.>>1357428Stupid posting before I was through typing. At least it was an ok roll.
>>1357430Not a direction, just flicker in place. Then crawl back into the air ducts.
>>1357430And ghostly noise. OOOoooooOOOoooooIf they question us, say we're new to haunting shit.
>>1357434It's not something you can keep turning on and off so rapidly. Or well, you can try but that could break the thing. It's like turning a computer on and off again, the time it takes to start back up is the time that you'd be out of realspace. So if you don't want to move, you'd appear to sort of dissolve out of reality, and then reappear up to ten seconds later.
>>1357438That. Its perfect for a noob ghost. Our boss is probably gonna kill us, if he can stop laughing.
>>1357438Lets do that BUT be careful we don't want to break our masters gifts
>>1357442>>1357446So, telling the two that the only way they can be safe from haunting or ghostly harm is to keep this a secret that they will take to their graves. By deactivating your harness, you also begin to fall out of realspace while making ghostly noises, and fade into nothingness before their very eyes. From your perspective as well, the rest of the world fades to where you're back in subspace again, though after a period of about ten seconds the harness fires up again to normal capacity, and the world fades back into view as you slowly return to realspace. You tried to remain as still as you could so you're roughly in the same position as you were when you left. The guys below though sound thoroughly spooked, and it would seem that they genuinely believe you're a vengeful ghost now, affirming aloud that they'll keep this a secret and asking you show them mercy. Continuing to sound ghostly, you struggle and clamor back up into the ventilation duct, whereupon you continue crawling on and making a banging racket as you go.For now at least, it would appear that you averted being caught or raising any alarms.>How do you proceed?
>>1357452Less recklessly. Did our boss say anything?Awesome quest btw.
>>1357454Make a roll to continue more carefully/stealthily. How far do you want to go? Because you could just spend all night in here, if you don't decide on an exit point. As for your boss, you're not sure if maybe it's all the metal of the ventilation ducts, but you haven't heard communication from him since you warped down here. Probably just a temporary error, nothing to worry about.>You tell yourself, as your heart races in worry.
Rolled 31 (1d100)>>1357457Lets look through the vents for an unoccupied office.Good night yall, I'm tired.
Rolled 78 (1d100)>>1357461Sigh
>>1357462Thank you, and now actually good night.
>>1357461>>1357462>78After that last unlucky fall through the grate, you try and take it more carefully. Slower you go and try to keep to yourself, as you crawl along. It's still not great, if someone was in the same room they would notice, but you're not rattling through the whole building. So you continue along, and after awhile and seeing through more grates, you get the impression that these ducts don't lead to any proper rooms of the building. More of a central portion of the system to which many others all join up to, but which those branching paths are too small to fit through. You do though, after getting pretty sore and cold from all the crawling against the rough metal, find another service room which appears to be empty. If this grate is anything like the last, you can just lean your body on it and push it through, and if not you have your little toolkit to open it more carefully.Just because there is no one in here though, doesn't mean you'd feel ok with being loud and noisy.
>>1357473Use the toolkit
>>1357781Struggling with your backpack in the tight crawlspace, after some grunting and frustration you finally pull out the toolkit you brought with you. Now it's not the best help since in the low light it's hard to see, and the screws for the grate go inwards, but after many attempts you are able to loosen or otherwise break them.Carefully, you press down on the grade while holding it, causing it to pop off the frame. A couple times you nearly drop it but with some effort manage to turn it a bit and then fit it up here in the duct with you. After that it's a simple matter to crawl over the opening and lower yourself down to where you can drop into the room. Unfortunately it's a bit high up so you stumble over after landing and fall on your side with an "Ooof!" Not a lot of noise though since you're just in casual clothes, sneakers and all that. Rubbing your arm, you sit up and look around finding yourself now in some maintenance room of the building, a number of industrial units buzzing nearby and all of it overlit by some really artificial-feeling fluorescent light. As far as you can tell you're the only one in here, and looking around you see the door which doesn't appear to have any lock on it.You can roll to search more thoroughly, but it seems like a pretty standard-fare service room.
Rolled 41 (1d100)>>1358056Why not
Rolled 49 (1d100)>>1358056rolling
>>1358060>>1358079>49You're not at the top of your game, nervous with everything going on naturally, so you don't pick up on everything. You manage to find some maintenance equipment around, things like a ladder, an actual toolbox, some insulated gloves, items of that nature. You also manage to check the door as well, and as far as you can tell it isn't alarmed. Just a peek outside and you can see a corridor within the building, properly furnished and all. It branches off to a larger open area you can't see that well from here, but just outside of this room you don't notice any security guards.
>>1358088Exit the room and look around Stealthily
>>1358088Take the items, masquerade as maintenance.
>>1358092Sneaking your way out of the room and leaving it propped open a little in case it were to lock, you enter into the carpeted corridor. Creeping along, you locate the fire stairs on the way, but move to the end of the corridor and peer around the corner. It appears to be an upper landing area, with a balcony overlooking the lobby several floors down. There are a few rooms off this big landing, as well as another corridor across the way. Interestingly you also notice several elevators which stop at this floor. It's around this time that you start to hear chatter on your intercom, and your boss sounds back in, asking what's going on since he lost track of you for a bit there. Describing your situation, he suspects you're on the third floor of the building, confirming what you know about the balcony here, looking down over the lobby a ways below. While you observe and talk with your boss though, across the way you notice a security guard coming around, and in a panic run back to the maintenance room door.>>1358095You could take the items but you don't have the uniform to match a maintenance worker. You could maybe try looking around for something like that, a locker room maybe, but your boss tells you that would be in one of the sublevels farther below.
>>1358105Do we know the layout of the floor?
>>1358105Can we knock him out?
>>1358108Your boss knows the layout of the building already, but he only gave you a floorplan (in your backpack) of the top floor that you're trying to get to.>>1358110Maybe with the use of any powers. On your own though probably not, at least not without some clever planning. You're just an average 20-year-old girl, so getting into a physical fight with a security guard guy, especially without any conventional weapons, wouldn't go well for you.
>>1358133Easy Enough to work with. >Put everything we have into our backpack >Add in what we found in the maintenance room >Sneak behind him. >Smack at the back of his head hard enough to knock him out One or two rolls?
>>1358144Ambush with Quantum Fluctuation?
>>1358144That would take two rolls, one for sneaking up on him and then one for the hit. >>1358152That could work, and might not even have to be an ambush. As long as you can maintain contact with him for a short duration, that power will do the trick.
Rolled 43, 80 = 123 (2d100)>>1358157Old school best school
>>1358157As he walks by the door, grab and pull him into the room while Quantum Fluctuating him.
>>1358159EyyyHes out
>>1358157Should add, the greater the contact the shorter the duration. Just something like putting a hand on him, will take a lot longer than if say, you hugged him or something.>>1358159Also an added detail, that if the sneak fails, naturally the sneak attack won't work. Though the second roll can still go for fighting.
>>1358164Grapple him into the room. Wait, how old are we?
>>1358164We could wack him across the head when/as he notices us, that should be enough
>>135817220, average fitness/build. So yeah, grappling or physically pulling him into the room by force might not work. You could do it by surprise though maybe, if you happened to just jump out and catch him off guard.>>1358174That might work. Where do you want to try this then? Waiting to get the jump on him that is, I assume.
>>1358184When he's closest to the maintenance room, then we slowly sneak into failure then swing the backpack into his head as we get noticed
>>1358174Lets whack him in the head, we might need the Quantum Fluctuation to stop spinning blades later.
>>1358189>>1358190So you wait in the maintenance room for a time, listening by the door and occasionally peeking out. You let maybe fifteen minutes pass, and impatiently exit the room, sneaking along again towards the main landing of the floor, where the balcony is. And sure enough there you see the guard again, still doing his rounds. It would appear then, if you had to guess, that his patrol doesn't take him down the side corridor you were, at least not as far as the maintenance room. Maybe you were a little too assured of him finding you, though of course you can still try to attack him if you want to.Probably a decision you have to make now, if not for this guy then at least in general, but are you ok with killing people? You're a villain for sure (or at least working towards that) but are you the sort to shed blood? While considering what to do about this guard, it seems as good a time as any to make that decision, if you're willing to go as far as things like murder.
>>1358205Only if b0ss asks us to, don't want to turn into shadow the edgegrillFor now just knock the guy out with the backpack
>>1358205Don't really want to kill, but if it's a them or us, go for it.
>>1358205Nah no killing, did we notice if the fire stairs were alarmed?
>>1358213>>1358215Right then, unless you need to, you'll refrain from killing. You don't really have it in you to be that sort of villain, and it also attracts negative attention much quicker. When you rob a bank, you'll have the police after you. If you kill everyone in the bank as well though, that'll get a superhero after you.So,>43, 80It isn't necessary but you decide to try and subdue the guard anyway. So gathering up some heavier items from the maintenance room, and fitting what you can into your backpack, you struggle to lug it along after you as you sneak after the guard.Well, try to sneak. You get decently close, but eventually he hears the clunking of things in your backpack and wheels around to see you. Taking the chance, you heft the bag and run at him with a yell, swinging it at him with all the force you can muster. It's a good shot to be sure, but unfortunately since he noticed you he had a chance to prepare and brings his arms up. The hit knocks him off balance and he stumbles a bit to the side, but pushing off the wall he rights himself again. "Hey, drop the bag!"Reaching for his belt, he moves into a readier stance in case you try something again. He doesn't pull out a weapon yet though, or radio it in anything. Chances are he thinks you're just some punk who broke in, since you definitely look the part in casual clothes, and of course trying to hit him with your bag.>>1358237Well, fire stairs in the broad sense, just general stairs as an alternative to the elevators. And no, they didn't appear alarmed.
Rolled 70, 47 = 117 (2d100)>>1358255Bait him into attacking and the counter attack with the bag,
>>1358255After we bonk him in the head, can we place him down a flight of stairs? Like he fell or something. Then we ascend the stairs.
Rolled 28, 34 = 62 (2d100)>>1358255>>1358272Backing this plan
>>1358269>>1358294>70, 47By intentionally throwing yourself off-balance you're able to lure him into trying to grab you. This is just the chance you want though, as you swing again with the bag. The hit this time though isn't that impactful, and though he didn't expect it, you weren't able to build up as much force while trying to evade him, as you were with that earlier running attack."That's enough, don't make this ugly!"After that, he's now annoyed with you rather than just surprised, and actually draws out a nightstick in preparation for another hit from your bag, while his other hand rests on a stun gun on his belt.>>1358272Yeah you could do something like that, if you can subdue him in the first place.
Rolled 92 (1d100)>>1358299Try to sweep his feet
>>1358299ExcellentSink to our knees, start fake sobbing"Please Mister don't hurt me! I was only looking for a nice place to stay, please! I'm sorry!"Then crawl towards his leg and firmly hug it If he buys it initiate Quantum Fluctuation
>>1358308>>1358311Any preference towards these actions? The second one, if it's chosen, can get a roll to convince him.
Rolled 51 (1d100)>>1358319Hmm>>1358311This one would knock him out quicker but>>1358308That 92 assures we knock him down to the floor and only that I'll stick with mine and roll
>>1358331>>1358308If there's no preference then will go with the higher roll. So,>92Normally you wouldn't have enough strength to knock the guy over. Tempting him to another lunge though, you dive to the side and then kick him in the back of the knees as hard as you can. This is enough to send him to the floor, giving you the chance to act. He does act to defend himself though, expecting you to wail on him with the bag more.
>>1358370Do>>1358311But just throw ourselves into him and hug him We don't need to convince him, that will just stop him from struggling and give us enough time to Quantum him
>>1358383Well if you're just going to do that you don't really need to put on the whole act, at least not when you're on the offensive. So with the guard on the ground, you jump forward on your knees and fall on him, hugging him as best you can. He's confused and thinks you're poorly trying to grapple him, and tries to force you off him. And he would have done, if you hadn't activated a Quantum Fluctuation on him and closed your eyes, just trying as best you can to hold on. Your harness starts to whirr with activity, to accommodate the energy leak between you and the guard. Only too late does he notice something is wrong and redoubles his efforts, but with a fading scream you feel him slow in movement to a stop, and opening your eyes you see him suspended in stasis. A dark hue to him, with an occasional faint shimmer across his person, you ease your body off him and struggle to your feet feeling a little woozy from the power use.But there he lays, frozen in terror on the ground. He'll remain like that till the hour ticks over and your harness recharges.>How do you proceed?
>>1358421Drag him to the maintenance room before taking the stairs
>>1358427You huff and you puff but with a lot of effort you are able to drag him stiffly across the floor, around behind the elevators to avoid the cameras, all the way back to the maintenance room where you leave him. Taking a moment to catch your breath and wipe the sweat from your face, you make your way to the stairwell and begin your ascent. Your boss informs you how many flights you have to go up, till you reach the top floor, and he recommends checking over the map now before exiting onto the floor. He suspects guards will be around up here, so best to figure out a plan on how to reach your objective, before just barging in.Checking the map, and with help from your boss, you understand yourself to be in the stairwell (represented by the navy star) and the room you're trying to reach is the CEO's office (represented by the green star). Beyond that though, you only know the floorplan, not the path or presence of any guards, or security measures.>How do you proceed?
>>1358449Go straight until we get to the corridor and poke our head in to see what's what
>>1358465Moving ahead out of the stairwell, and being as quiet as you can with the doors, you peek out to look both ways into the adjoining corridor. Over the course of a couple minutes, you see a guard either way. The one farther to the top (of the map) passed by in some corridor, while the one farther to the bottom seems to be on a rounds of the elevator lobbies, going back and forth between them. That's all you find from a stealthy glance, out of the stairwell.
Rolled 63 (1d100)>>1358485Use dat transparency thingy and sneak to the lowest corridor past the guards
>>1358490What transparency thingy?
>>1358505Subspace Tresspass
>>1358510You already used that within the last hour, you've still got awhile to go till your harness recharges its use.
>>1358516Do we have a time limit to do this? Or can we wait for it to recharge
>>1358522You could wait for it to recharge, but not long after and the guard you just subdued will come out of stasis, and who knows what he'll do then.So there isn't an actual time limit, but obviously you wouldn't want to be here all night either.
Rolled 60 (1d100)>>1358538Fuck itSneak out and go to the lowest corridor
Rolled 51 (1d100)>>1358485Slip behind the one in front of the elevators when he starts pacing the other way
Rolled 13 (1d100)>>1358659Supporting
>>1358561>>1358659I'm back now.>60So carefully you time it when the guard in the elevator lobby goes past, and you sneak behind him. Along the way you also notice one guard just standing at the far end of the elevator lobby. At any rate you make it to the next little nook, but peeking around you see one guard on patrol in your direction, and another at the far end of this next corridor, leaving it on his own route.
>>1358793Sneak into the room in front of us and wait for the guard on our left to pass.
>>1358793How many of the doors in general are open? The hallway doors, the office doors? Also try to slip into the room to our right (on the map to our left).
>>1358831The room directly in front of you turns out to be locked, but in a panic you're able to get into the adjoining room before the guard makes it through the door in the corridor. It looks to be just a typical office room so you keep your attention on the guard, listening to the door. You can try and sneak past him when he passes, but make a stealth roll for opening and closing both this office door, and the corridor door you'll have to pass through.>>1358845Most all of them are automatically closing doors, so almost all are going to be closed unless they're actively being held, or propped open.
>>1358845Or that That sounds good too
Rolled 13 (1d100)>>1358849Two then?
Rolled 94, 88 = 182 (2d100)>>1358856Aw fuckForce of habit
>>1358845One thing to note though, is that some of the doors are glass, so even though they're closed, can be seen through.>>1358860>94, 88Again, you continue to show your aptitude for stealth and sneakiness, as you creep out of the office and slide the door shut before heading through the next door and similarly closing it quietly. You continue down the corridor, around the corners peeking as you go along, but see at least one more guard just standing by the office you're aiming for. There could be others out of sight thought. Also I added in brown guards you know to be around, and where you last saw them, but having lost track of them.
>>1358875Sneak into the second room to our left and observe if the guard moves, if he does we can sneak into the office ezpz
Rolled 76 (1d100)>>1358902
>>1358902What do you think is "our" left? I probably should represent you with an arrow rather than a star from here on.
>>1358875Sneak into room 5954 and watch the guard.
>>1358907The side going towards the green star So room 5953
Rolled 2 (1d100)>>1358902Seconding this, any idea how long is left on our timer?
>>1358914Whew lad, close
Rolled 33 (1d100)>>1358914Holy Fuck Calm down man I rolled a 76
Rolled 60 (1d100)>>1358875Rolling for best plan
>>1358928>>1358922>>1358914Wait so which plan is being followed? Also for rolls what I'll do when there are multiple, is do the average of all of them.As for time left till the harness recharges, you've still got about half an hour left.
>>1358942This I believe >>1358914>>1358902With the 76
>>1358942This one >>1358902
>>1358949>>1358950>46 averageSo you attempt to sneak across the hall to one of the rooms on the other side. It's so close to the guard though that he could see you out of the corner of his eye, that you have to go quick, and end up not being as stealthy as you like. You do manage to get inside the room, but it shuts just a little too quickly, and it seems the guard noticed. He's not suspicious to the point of knowing someone is there, but you can hear him walking towards this room, and he will probably check inside here to see what the cause of the noise might have been.>How do you proceed?
>>1358958Panic and hide behind anything that covers our whole body
>>1358958Can we push out some of the superfluid under the door so the floor in front of it is super slippery?
>>1358965If you want to hide, make a roll to see how well you can.>>1358970You could try that, but you would have to use all the amount you have with you, in order to create a patch big enough to soak under the door. Normally the use of the canisters is to apply to something to make it slippery, so if you want you could try to quickly search around here for something you could apply just one canister to and hope he slips on that thing instead.Your call, one way is probably quicker and safer but uses all the canisters. The other would just be one use, but would have a chance it could go wrong.
>>1358983Shit, I really don't want to use all of them, we still need to get out after all.Are the windows up here openable?
>>1359000This is the top floor of an office building, so no the windows probably cannot be opened. In fact, it's unlikely you could even smash them normally.
Rolled 40 (1d100)>>1358983Forgot to post lol
>>1359010>40Well panicking over what to do, you try to hide wherever you can, and end up under the desk in the room, about the only place able to conceal you.In your hurry though it doesn't seem that the guard's suspicion is put to rest, as he now begins to check around the room. At this rate, he's going to find you if you just remain under the desk, you believe.
Rolled 27 (1d100)>>1359029Shoot a micrometeor out from under the desk into the hallway to lure him out. Also how much rolling should we be doing?
>>1359036As much rolling as you like. You don't have to roll if you don't want, but that will leave it to my discretion then, which could go well or poorly for you, depending. Also the office door is closed, do you still want to try with the Micrometeor?
>>1359040Yes.
Rolled 99 (1d100)>>1359036
>>1359045Welp There goes that part of the building
>>1359045>>1359036>63 averageIn the awkward position you're in under the desk, you don't really have a good means of throwing anything well, but quickly rummaging through your bag you draw out a Micrometeor beacon. Attuning it to your harness, you underhand throw it out from underneath the desk, the moment it leaves your hand warping an actual micrometeor into place. Whizzing through the air, it continues to pick up speed and force, where it blasts right through the door with a small *bang* and smashes something on the other side that you can't see.You hear an audible "What the hell?!" as the guard jumps from the sudden loud noise, and immediately he runs over to inspect the door, getting down on a knee to look through the decently-sized hole left by it. And to be honest you're also curious about how much an effect it had outside the room as well, but will have to wait to see.A rather good distraction you think, enough that you'd have the jump on him if you wanted it.
How much damage would we cause if we coat a micrometeor in the frictionless stuff, then throw it in an arc going toward another continent? Constant acceleration, with a frictionless body.
>>1359058Nah Just sneak to the door we need to go to
Rolled 39 (1d100)>>1359065
>>1359058And can we coat the outside of our clothing in the frictionless stuff?Like a greased pig, we will never be caught.>>1359065And seconding
>>1359058Active blueshift and bum rush him. Try a sick nasty jump double kick.
Rolled 4 (1d100)>>1359058Sneakie Beakie
>>1359084Fuck, I'll stop now
Rolled 48 (1d100)>>1359084>>1359065
>>1359060Right now, there is a point where the subspace propulsion would wear off. But if your powers grew? Who knows, maybe you could accidentally level a city.>>1359070You could do that but you'd end up freezing yourself eventually, from how cold it is. If you or your boss came up with someone to deal with that though, then yes you'd probably be quite difficult to catch.>>1359065The problem with that is, there is only one door in and out of this room, and the guard is standing at it.
>>1359060Shut up Nondescript/Bait
Rolled 32 (1d100)>>1359105Dropkick his ass, send his head through the door in front of him
Rolled 32 (1d100)>>1359058Let's jump on him and put him in a choke hold.

>>1359128>>1359133>>1359140So final decision on what you're doing? Anything is possible / viable since you super double crit rolled, even if it isn't a violent action.
>>1359127KO him as silently as possibleUnfortunately our route now has a trail leading all the way to this office so they'll know that something was going on here, hopefully the goal doesn't require the virus to stay permanently on the computer
>>1359149Persuade him were a super looking for something, have him escort us to our objective.Something that causes small explosion things.
>>1359149Oh oh ohNevermind knocking him out then, if anything is possible let's just slip past him and get into the office we need to be in while leaving behind something that will make him think that's what caused the noise
>>1359156A super hero.
>>1359158Sorry if that was confusing, I meant any action, violent or not towards the guard, will go successfully. The roll was towards him, so whatever you do to him will work.
>>1359156That could return to bite us in the butt>>1359158Supporting
>>1359165Welp Changing my vote to>>1359156>>1359164Then
>>1359165Gotcha, well in that case let's try a variation of >>1359156Basically tell him that we're a very new assistant to the boss and forgot something vital, we're looking for a specific file and didn't want to bother anybody but while he's here could he let us into the office and keep watch. We really don't want to get fired we need this job so that we can take care of our little siblings ever since our parents died in the horrible car crash (spin a sob story so that this guy can rationalize why we might be sneaking and scared and can sympathize)
>>1359172>>1359153>>1359156Ok so is the agreement trying to pretend to be a superhero and gain his help? That got majority choice but since black TB9 rolled the 100 he gets the final say.
>>1359177I'm ok with that
>>1359177I didn't know we were going to throw in being a superhero, though that turns out to be a much better excuse and also explains the knocked out guard on the lower level.Alright so, superhero, performing an investigation, we had to regrettably KO one of the guards on the lower level and restrain them but they're safe. For the good of the company, all that jazz
>>1359184>>1359183Just a heads up that this convincing will only work on this guy, though he will believe it till the cows come home.So yeah, you reveal yourself and as expected he reacts hostile at first. You spin such a sudden and convincing story about you being a superhero though, here to do good, that he actually believes you and after some simple questions about you and your presence here, he's even willing to help out however he can.So you have one convinced, loyal follower. How do you want to proceed?
>>1359184Or the enemy thing we're chasing koed him.
>>1359200Head to the CEO's office
>>1359200Oh and one other thing worth figuring out, but by what means are you maintaining the guard's loyalty? Are you hoping to rely on his good nature as an upstanding citizen helping a hero, are you promising him something in reward, or maybe your logic is so sound that you've convinced him he believes it?Basically, if called out on his helping you, what is keeping him loyal to you in the face of his guard duties and job responsibility?>>1359209Only of the tools you got from the maintenance room, you have a screwdriver, and a boxcutter.
>>1359200Ask him if he can sneak us past the other guards
>>1359226Are we not wearing a mask?
>>1359226Let's convince him that our actions will benefit the city's economy, especially for the working class.
>>1359228>>1359232Support him
>>1359232Alright, you present a case where your actions are driven to help people economically, even if maaaybe it's at the detriment of this company.>>1359229You've got a hoodie on, and a bandana for the lower half of your face. So not a mask, because you don't have a proper costume, but your identity is hidden.>>1359228He thinks he could probably escort you past any, but for your interest in the CEO's office, he says there is both some sort of bodyguard and an executive in there right now, the latter doing some late night work. So maybe he could safely escort you through or out of the building, but he doubts the executive will listen to him.Though, in your convincing him, he genuinely believes that you can also convince the executive. Because why wouldn't he listen to a superhero?
>>1359226Tell him that we are a hero-in-training and have been assigned to perform an investigation, we need good marks here to pull of graduating and if he helps us out then soon he'll have a superhero that owes him a favor
>>1359246Poor mentally handicapped guard.See if the guard can lure both together, then hit them with the cosmic shunt grenade.
>>1359246"Well sir, not everyone trusts Superheroes, sometimes people are cynical, selfish, and greedy. Especially corporate executives"
>>1359246Let's try to convince this executive as well with >>1359255 promising that a soon to be hero will owe them and the company a favor (that's got to be worth a lot to these guys)
>>1359255>>1359261That's possible but you'll have to roll for it, and roll well. Really well.Otherwise,>>1359257This could also work, just force all of them out of the building.
>>1359257Seconding, also warn helper guard in advance so he doesn't resent us.
>>1359278We would be sending them outside the building from the 54th floor, I think he'll resent us either way but only for approximately 17 seconds
>>1359287The building isn't that high, only about 8 stories. The Shunt grenades though, your boss made them so that they're safe to use on people, if you so wish. It will push them out of the area, but to some safe location nearby, be it another rooftop nearby, the street-level below, or even just some other floor below or the rooftop of this same building.>>1359278How are you going to spin that to him? That you're going to be forcing them all out? He'll go for it, but a reason would help.
>>135928754th floor? Shit I thought the building was maby 4 stories.Has it been an hour since we used the Gravity resist?
>>1359297Huh, not sure where the skyscraper image came from thenThen yeah lets use a shunt grenade on the exec and their bodyguardDon't bring the helper guard in with us, have him stay here and pretend to have been taken out. That way shit doesn't come down on him either, explain that part of the investigation might come back on the exec so he wouldn't just step aside for us
>>1359297There was a ghost, we need to evacuate the one the ghost is after. The ghost shouldn't be able to leave the building, but is very dangerous and clumsy.
>>1359313Hell this is better, we might be able to tie up all our lose ends with this
>>1359297Tell him we'll use our superpowers to nonlethally relocate the bodyguard and executive where they will be unable to hinder our mission. But, he'll have to draw their attention as bait, and will probably be a secondary target of the power's effect. So, yeah, we'll tell him that we'll force them out of the room, except with big words to confuse him and make him think we're smart.
>>1359330Forget this>>1359313Going with this one
>>1359301I don't think you ever used that power yet?>>1359320>>1359313>>1359308So you want to keep the guard out of this, and just shove the executive and the bodyguard? That can work but you need a way to get them out of the office, since the grenade pushes out anything that is freestanding. That includes things like furniture, or computers resting on furniture. In any case the guard listens to everything you have to say, optimistically accepting it word for word and believing all of it. He's just a young guy, maybe a year or two older than you, and bright eyed at your actions. He's probably still got faith in people and the world, and probably grew up idolizing heroes, so seeing one in person, and that she's involving him as help, is like the highlight of his life.
>>1359338To float like a ghost. Gravity Reject.Have the guard lure them out. You now have the office to your self. Have the guard escort you out.
>>1359352No, we used subspace trespass to pretend to be a ghost
>>1359338That poor guard, we gonna cost him his job.Maby he turns into a hero and becomes our nemisis.
>>1359352So just to make sure, are you catching the guard in the Cosmic Shunt? If not it will be hard for him to pull off luring them outside, and then quickly running away to a safe distance while you prime and throw the grenade. It's possible, but will require a roll.
>>1359362Tell the guard he needs to go with the exec, to keep him safe.
>>1359362Yeah to keep the exec safe and to push some suspicion off of him, we don't want him to lose his job after all, poor dear
>>1359370Right then, so you tell the guard what you want him to hear, and cheerfully with confidence, he says he won't let you down!At that he exits the room and heads into the CEO's office. You hear some talking going on, and what sounds like anger or annoyance, whereafter the guard exits the room talking about how the executive *needs* to come and see something! Just what you were hoping for, as you've already got the grenade primed, and simply toss it down the corridor to roll along the carpet towards them. Before they have much a chance to react, there's a burst through that short area which slightly distorts the appearance of everything inside, like putting it all through a color filter. Moments later and they're promptly ripped towards whichever surface they are closest too (the guard the floor, the exec a wall) and when they hit they just pass right through like a little tear in space. With that they're gone, and though you didn't see the bodyguard as far out of the office as the exec, he probably got shunted out as well, seeing as he's nowhere in the office. So, you have the room to yourself now, no guard, no exec and no bodyguard.
>>1359404Awesome, let's get this program loaded up and work on getting the hell out of here
>>1359404Lets get in there and do what we need to do
>>1359414So you've made it to the CEO's office, quite a nice place, well furnished and all with awards and stuff around and some interesting trinkets and displays of art and whatnot. You also can locate the computer without trouble. It seems the exec locked it when he got up to leave the room after the guard, but it's not shut down. Which is what matters, your boss informs you, as he explains just what to do. As instructed, you rummage through your backpack and find the carrying case for the device, open it, and plug it into one of the computer ports. He informs you that the process shouldn't take more than maybe fifteen minutes, and while he doesn't actually need the device back, it does need to remain connected and uninterrupted so you can't just up and leave in case someone comes in and unplugs it or something. So you'll have a bit of time in here, any preparations you want to make, or anything you want to do?
>>1359438How much time is left on our Harness? And can we use the harness to phase through the wall and float our way down to street level?
>>1359438Talk to our bossGet to know him
>>1359438Whip out our trusty chocolate snacks, rest our feet on the desk, eat, whip out our dastardly phone and ear buds, plug in and chill until the device is done
>>1359438Do>>1359450After >>1359451If we have no cool phone to listen to music with
>>1359438Lock the door and blockade it, they might be able to return in 15 minutes. Spray the device with the All-Slipâ„¢ so they can't remove it.
>>1359444By the time this process with the computer is complete, your harness will have recharged. As for what you want to do, yes you could probably do something like that, basically a Subspace Trespass as you attempt a downwards jump, causing you to keep going down at that speed, and returning to realspace around the street level. Maybe a Gravity Reject just in case you undershoot. You would definitely want to have your boss do a number crunch though for the downward speed you want. Undershooting might be bad, you'll end up in the air above the street, but you can fix that with some other power.Overshooting though, and you could end up underground or worse.>>1359450Ah that's right, your boss. The villain who found out what happened to you from the accident, and knew how to bring you back. A technical and engineering background, he got into villainy to test his skills and maybe earn some extra money. In general though he's a decent guy, you refer to him as your boss because you feel that sort of debt to him, but he doesn't act superior to you or treat you badly in anyway. If anything you're more like coworkers and he's just been at the job longer than you, but still both the same job position. More than just saving you from being lost in space forever as well, he's helping you to adjust to life again, and is even putting you up for the time being since you lost things like the place you were living, due to being missing and thought dead for several months.Ah, but what's his name again? His villain name? He does use gadgets and little robots for his dastardly plans...>Come up with a villain identity for your boss!Cont with >>1359451 and >>1359459
>>1359474Like our boss lets us know his name, or see his face.
>>1359459So the first thing you do is lock the office door and barricade it as best you can, which means huffing and puffing, a struggle to push a couch over against the door. That's about all you can manage though, you didn't get super strength from your accident. As for the device, you can apply the Superfluid to it, but the temperature change might mess it up, you're not sure. Also, someone could still just smash or unplug the computer even if they can't get the device.>>1359451In the meantime, you rummage through your backpack and find some chocolate you'd brought along just in case. Maybe you shouldn't, you want to watch your weight, but you think a reward is in order for your job well done so far. So you kick back and relax, feeling like the CEO, and listening to some chillaxing music and podcasts while you wait. A dastardly phone... you should ask your boss to make something like that for you.
>>1359482But you like to call him The Grand Industrialist, behind his back of course.
>>1359488His workshop, being filled with large robots and vast machines, reminds you of an old factory.
>>1359488>>1359493That might be a bit too lofty for him, he's barely more a villain than you are, doesn't even have his name in the papers yet. And the biggest robot of his you've seen is about the size of a vending machine. Well, he has one robot the size of a vending machine, because it's made out of one. He's more a tinkerer and gadgeteer with a little workshop than a vast robotics mastermind engineer with a foundry, but if you still want to use that name to spite him you totally can.
>>1359488I have no idea how to name him but this sounds too cheesy >>1359474Illustrious Industrialist? AndAlistair Green!
>>1359487How long do the effects of the super fluid last?>>1359498If he is around our age, call him Tiny Tim Tinkerer, if we feel a bit annoyed or amused, otherwise call him boss.
>>1359498>>1359503I have the perfect name Straight out of fallout The Machinist!
>>1359505>Straight out of falloutYou mean The Mechanist? But yeah, Machinist works well actually!>>1359503He's a little older than you, like mid-20s. You're the youngest of the trio though, with his Jessica in the middle. >>1359503The Superfluid lasts depending on how much you use, but one dose is probably good for say, 15 minutes.Anyway, with your headphones in it takes you a bit to notice, but finally you notice the bashing sound at the office door. It's been maybe ten minutes since you plugged the device in, but leaning forward in alarm and taking the headphones out, it sounds like some people are gathered outside now and are trying to bust their way in. Maybe the exec called security? Or maybe they just managed to get back here in ten minutes or so.Either way, yeah you hear the bashing at the door now and shouting outside. No alarms yet though, no warning sirens or anything.
>>1359517Use the fluid on the floor infront of the door. Then watch as they struggle to stay standing, like those old cartoons.
>>1359527Ah well, small problem in that the couch is in the way of the door on your side. And same as with the other office, if you want it to soak through to the other side, you'll have to use all your canisters of the stuff.
>>1359517Turn off the computer screen. Use one of the pointy awards to knock out a window. Use the superfluid on the floor from the couch to the wall/window. When they break through they'll slide till they hit the wall, in the ensuing chaos we jump out the window, using Gravity reject. That should be long enough for the device to finish.
>>1359549Try as you might, by your own physical ability you aren't able to knock out any of the windows. They're intentionally made like that, even with a sledgehammer you'd have a hard time. That's nothing to say about any powers, but just grabbing something in here and smacking the glass, won't do anything.
>>1359530Pop a micrometeor through the wall next to the door, lube up a the last wormhole grenade and pop it through.
>>1359559Lets do >>1359549And use subspace tresspass to remain unseen during their search, only break the cloak if they try anything with the device
>>1359517>The MechanistDamnI was close And who is this Jessica you speak of? Is she between us and our beloved Mechanist-kun?
>>1359570I meant only the computer bit
>>1359517Jessica? Who?

>>1359585I don't think the meteor is strong enough to make a foot large hole.
>>1359570Trespass has a hard limit of ten seconds. Any longer and you risk your body phasing out of the harness and getting lost in subspace again.>>1359573Jessica is... well, Jessica, that's the name they use. She and several thousand others just like her roam the city, and have been for approaching a year now. No one knows the true origin, but they started showing up and now there's a ton of them around. The only thing you know is that when a Jessica gets enough food, she undergoes a division process over several hours, almost like a cell or bacteria or something, and splits into two. Many have been helped and taken in by various groups or charity organizations, and many have been helped by just common people. Some though from what you have heard, suffer under criminal enterprise, human trafficking and whatnot, and most are just homeless in the city. The Machinist took in one, and while you're like his villainous sidekick, she's like your guys' maid, who handles more normal things like cooking and cleaning.
>>1359591>>1359585It would be able to smash out the windows with a good throw, but yeah not enough to put a big hole in the floor. Not that it couldn't get through the floor, but it would just punch through like a bullet, leaving a small hole.>>1359564The wall next to the door... like the wall between this room and the next office over?

>>1359591Is Jessica a slime?Hmm, Hold the grenade and tell them that you will blow up the building, when they break through. Stall for about 5 minutes. Throw the grenade past them, when they tackle you you'll just teleport away. Run like your ass was on fire.
>>1359597I sense plot But she's not a threat to us so she can liveAre they drone like? Or do they behave just like a real human bean?
>>1359603This one
>>1359603Can we throw a meteor fast enough to tear through anything and hopefully kill the people on the other side?We shouldn't kill but we're in deep right now so we have to
>>1359610The idea with the grenade was just to buy time until the program was finished, and hard reset out of the building, but bluffing is prolly a better idea.
>>1359603Would an internal reverb keep the door from opening.
>>1359610>Is Jessica a slime? No, completely normal human woman of about 23 from what people understand. The hunt for the original persists though.>>1359612She's a completely normal human being, apart from the fact that getting enough nutrients causes the division process, which they don't seem to have control over, it's just like a biological process for them.Their intelligence depends on how long they take to divide from one another. A short division and it's like a completely uneducated, new mind. Not stunted in her capacity to learn and develop, just lacking the experience and knowledge. A long division, and both copies share the same knowledge, memories, etc... From what you understand, the Machinist got a pretty inexperienced one, but helped her out, educated her to a decent enough level that she is about your average person's level of intelligence, minus the education of going through school. She talks and behaves fine, can do stuff like cook and drive, but she doesn't know the capital of the country for example, or how to do long multiplication.>>1359613OH, you mean through the wall, to land outside the office next to all the people? That makes sense, I thought you were trying to get away by just going into the next room over.
>>1359621He sounds more like an anti-hero than a villain now, but I guess that's better than having an actual asshole b0ss
>>1359619No, it just makes something not lose the inertia it has. So like if you coated a ball with it, it would not only not stop bouncing, but only continue to increase in inertia/velocity, building up until either the application wore off, or the object destroyed itself.>>1359615A good throw, yes would probably be able to blast through the door and injured anyone on the other side. But that the same time you could use it to scare them just as well.>>1359619>>1359616So I think the consensus is drawn either between bluffing about the destructiveness of the grenades to stall for time, or trying to sabotage the people outside till the time is up and you can escape?
>>1359631Why not both? Cause some damage, then claim to cause more damage.
>>1359627If you're just judging him based on his treatment of Jessica, then yeah he's an alright guy. Certainly plenty of people treat them worse, or even horrifically. Even public perception is pretty divided, between the Jessica's being a danger, to being women in need, to being annoying pests. Some people like the Machinist help them, others take advantage of or even abuse them.
>>1359637Sure you can do some combination of the choices. Just specify what you are doing and in what order, and then I'll clarify any rolls you'll need to make. Also just to be clear, it's not like the guys outside are at this moment, hacking the door down and almost inside. They're trying to get in and sound angry, but you've got probably a good few minutes before they resort to getting a cabinet or something and smashing the door down.
>>1359642Use the meteor to scare the guards, once they do come in, claim you have a more destructive device, motion towards the grenade in your hand. Make some outlandish requests, and when they cant meet them throw the grenade past them into the hall. They will tackle/ go past you to escape the blast radius. You teleport past them. Then you flee. FLEEE!
>>1359642I think the best plan is to bust a hole in the wall and threaten them with our awesome destructive power.
>>1359652That might work but one small problem, is that if someone has a good hold of you, like they're clinging on, the Wormhole grenade will drag them with you to the other end.>>1359653Just checking, but which grenade would you be putting through the wall? Because if you do it with the Wormhole grenade, it's the only one you have left, and probably no longer useful after that as an escape method because it would be right next to them.
>>1359661Can we throw more than one meteor at a time?
>>1359678Yeah, only at your own peril, are you hindered by what you can do with, or how many of your powers you can use.
>>1359682I would say we shotgun blast them with enough force to incapacitate/kill them so se can make our escape but i dunno Sounds risky
>>1359686Use the a meteor to knock out a window, then stall with the grenade, and finally through the grenade outside. Short simple and effective.
Use micro to smash hole in wallSay if they down stop you will strut your awesome powersTry to keep them talkingNo grenades
>>1359691>>1359692Ok that seems cooperative enough to work.So make, 3 rolls. First for smashing through to scare them, second for bluffing, and finally third for escaping.

>>1359701>>1359702>>1359720>Averages of 40, 53, 45So first with the last two Micrometeor beacons you have, you blast out one of the windows (not on the street side so you don't hit anyone below), and then blast a hole through the wall next to the door to scare and get the attention of the guys on the other side. Then you threaten them with your remaining grenade, saying how you'll use it if you have to, and it'll be disastrous for them. The little display with the micrometeor has many of them convinced so it does the job of stalling them, for a time long enough at least, where the Machinist lets you know over the intercom that he's gotten what he needs out of the device. This seems like the time now to toss out the Wormhole grenade, out of the window to the backstreet below.Seeing you distracted during this exchange though, the guys outside finally smash through the door in a unified effort, and though some stumble over the couch you moved to the door, others climb over and seek to subdue you.The only thing worth asking left, do you want to go to try and get the device plugged into the computer still? If you don't you can just warp out now safely. If you want to try to get the device though, you'll have to roll.
>>1359739He didn't care if it got left, so leave it.

These guys are only some ten-odd feet away. You will take the chance though, to to get the device back, and rushing around to the computer you go for a dive and grab the thing, pulling it out to shove in your back just as the guys catch up and get ahold of you.Of course you struggle, but one manages to grab and hold onto you to keep you from moving, while another guy checks the computer, and the others crowd around, checking out the room. Eventually you're faced with the bodyguard of the exec, who must have made it back in time, as he looks you over and pinches at your clothes, having a laugh at your outfit. Just to check as well, he pokes at your belly and hears you react, confirming your gender by voice."Well what have we here? Little girl thought she was going to play at corporate espionage?"The Wormhole grenade is active, so you can warp out at any time, but if there was anything you wanted to do or say before that, you can.

Not a moment later and you and the guard holding onto you are drawn into the vacuum and dragged through space, the guard screaming all the way and clinging to you for dear life.Shortly after you're both spat out down in the backstreet, and the both of you on the ground, he continues to hold onto you now more out of fear than out of duty.

When they hear and see your situation though, they start yelling and make their approach, looking to break up what looks like trouble. They yell and carry on and you hear a short scuffle between them and the guard, but by the time you reach the end of the alley, you hear them running up as they also tell you to run, and that they're calling the cops on the guard and assumedly this place. Just something to get used to.Though you're not sure you'll ever get used to a Hard Reset, as unpleasant and uncomfortable as it is.So it looks like the options are drawn between calling for a ride, or just warping back yourself. What's the choice? If you call for a ride, you can go get some snacks, then have to find something to do while you wait.>>1359940>>1359941You already took off the bandana during the tussle with the guard when you tried to plead for help from the strangers. You can take down your hood as well though, and let your hair free again.
>>1359943In that case, let's let our hair down,Buy some snacks, and reminisce about our life's story while we wait for Jessica.
>>1359943Yeah take the hoodie off, pack it and go buy some snacks while Jessica gets here, and use up all those fifty bucks on family size snacks and chips with a big bottle o' sodaWe're celebrating a successful job tonight! Then play some games with our phone away from any prying eyes while we wait.
>>1359947Or this instead of the phone
>>1359947>>1359949So asking for Jessica to come and get you on the intercom, you learn that she had been waiting not so far away in case you needed a quick getaway from the job. As such she'll probably be there in about fifteen minutes rather than thirty or more.In the meantime you shake your hair loose, but you can't really take of the hoodie, unless you want people to be able to obviously see the quantum entanglement harness you've got on underneath. Heck, even if you take the backpack off, it might be obvious to someone looking at your back when the harness is active since they'll see the light coming from it.At any rate though you walk along the streets of New Angouleme, always active and always bustling, and you fit in among the loose groups of people. Smoke and chatter in the air, of people yelling at each other or talking on their phones, and the background noise of the city above it all. Car horns and car radios, music and announcements from stores or big screens on buildings, and sirens in the distance. And of course more than anything else, the light. From street lights, and cars again, from the buildings all around and towering far above, even the occasional advertisement or news zeppelin drifting overhead, and beyond it all the searchlights into the sky. You pass by a small crowd of people bunched around the outside of a closed store, but the TVs in the window still on, and showing the news. Something about diplomatic squabbles in Europe, trade concerns in China, and in the local news, an ongoing battle and pursuit between Conduit and Spitfire, going down 6th Avenue at that very moment.Half a block further and you find a little convenience store still open, the place lit up like Christmas with fluorescence. The owner's busy watching his own TV, and seeing to people as they come and go with their purchases. >You've got $50, how do you want to spend it?
>>1359972This >>1359949Buy big sized stuff of everything (chips, nuts, snacks, soda) to share with b0ss and JessicaWe're celebrating tonight boi!
>>1359972See just how many apple 50$ can buy.
>>1359974With the $50 dollars of junk food, you know you shouldn't, but you want to celebrate. Unfortunately if you get in the habit of celebrating, you could end up getting chubby again, or as some would say, THICCOh but just one night shouldn't matter! >>1359975A LOTLaden with goods, you approach the counter to pay for all the stuff. The owner laughs and asks if you're going to a party, checking the bill before giving you back a little cash after he rings everything up and you bag it all. You leave the coinage change in the little cup on the counter, then huff and puff your way onto the street trying to carry everything in your arms. Thankfully a homeless Jessica sees you and offers help, probably expecting some food in return. You could spare an apple or five though, she's probably got other hungry friends. You do get some nasty looks and comments along the way for it, but you don't care, you're a supervillain! Or at least just a villain, for now.So after finding some steps of a store front to sit on with your help, you give her some food for which she thanks you profusely and hungrily munches into the first apple. You chat in the meantime, and after some twenty-odd minutes finally, the Jessica you know pulls up in the car you all share, and old 90's Wolvo station wagon and waves at you looking very excited.
>>1359979KekIt doesn't matter, people like THICC, would wouldn't want a slightly chubby gurl in a tight outfit? We would be famous in no time, and we can always lose dem pounds with some excercise. and >Leaving the changeWhat'reweafookin'hero? Start packing up the stuff into the car.

So, last time you'd gotten a bunch of junk food and apples, and with the help of a wild Jessica, you were able to load everything into the back of your dastardly station wagon, driven by your Jessica.Thanking the wild one, you get into the passenger seat where you're greeted by your own one."Hi Emily! Did you have fun? Oh, don't forget your seatbelt!"She also asks where to, assuming you're headed back home, but she's willing to drive wherever.
>>1361249Lets see what we got. And see if our boss can make some more gear.
>>1361249Hey, there Jessica, we're heading back to the boss yeah? I think this calls for a celebration
>>1361249Haha I'm not so evil I wouldn't wear a seatbelt!Let's head back to the factory.
>>1361266Supporting
>>1361260>>1361266>>1361271Jessica happily accepts and begins the long drive back home, since you guys don't live downtown. On the way she has the radio on, listening to this and that, something about a renovation effort for one of the old churches. You check the haul though, $50 worth of snacks and junk food. Unfortunately no booze though, since you're not 21 yet. Ah, but the Machinist has some back home anyway.Ah but that's right, home... what is your guys' home? The Machinist's "Lair", his little workshop where you all live, what's it like? What sort of building is it in, what sort of condition? Keeping in mind that you're barely villains, so you're not big in the money.
>>1361281Oh and of course, does the building have a front? Does it normally pass for something else, that isn't obviously a villain hideout?
>>1361284How about a Radioshack?Extended basement with workshop and living space. Rather sparse, looking to expand.
>>1361284Electronics repair shop. All the small motors and gizmos we need to make stuff, and we have a legitimate use for ordering it.Old 2 story building, with living space on the second floor and a basement for workshop and storage.
>>1361295>>1361281
>>1361309Abandoned radioshack go!
>>1361295Supporting
>>1361293>>1361295>>1361309>>1361323https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5mQETGMeaEWell that's alright, was worried people were going to say the Machinist's mom's house.Anyway so a little two story electronics store with a basement. The only question, is it active or closed down? Do you run an actual business, with actual customers, or is the space just rented and kept closed down?
>>1361334Active, like >>1361295 said, gives us a cover for ordering parts.Plus, it's an alternate source of income.
>>1361334If she makes cookies and cakes, I might try to be his henchman.
>>1361334It's an actual bussines of course! We gotta get our money some way?
>>1361349If you lived with his mom, yes she'd definitely bake you things, intrude in your privacy to ask if you kids are having fun, and have a lights out bedtime curfew.
>>1361334A real life business with Jessica as a helpful shop assistant.
>>1361360>Oh, Billy, are you and your girlfriend having fun making your toys?>Mooooooom, for the last time, she's not my girlfriend. And they're not toys, they're high explosive charges for our bank job tomorrow!>That's nice, dear. Make sure you wash up for dinner!
>>1361367>>1361351>>1361345So an actual business it is then, owned by the Machinist and staffed by Jessica. Because the only way to be able to run an independent business in New Angouleme at this age, is to have a budget supplemented by villainy. Have a preference for a name?
>>1361386What's our boss' name?
>>1361386*insert name*'s budget repairs and rentals.Keep it low key.
>>1361386Fix a Phoneâ„¢All the parts for the newfangled smart phones, and other electronics.

>>1361386Electronic Fixer Maker
>>1361414Snappy sounds good.
>>1361414Joel Jeffrey's jackers
>>1361414A mix of the two, snappy but kinda boring at the same time Kind of if like it's catchy at the beginning but if you hear it enough it becomes dull and boring
>>1361435>>1361416>>1361423Alright so Joel's Fix-It Electronics. In some-such building like this one, if anyone can find a better example picture you get a bonus.A timely drive out of downtown and through the suburbs, only forty-five minutes! Jessica parks the care on the side street and helps you with the junk food, together walking along the sidewalk to the alley where the back entrance is. Juggling bags for a bit while Jessica unlocks and opens the door, you both get inside and are greeted by one of the Machinist's robots, Finder a car GPS system. She had thought you might be intruders but seeing who it is, she doesn't raise any alarms and asks how you both are, and when asked says that the Machinist is in the basement.
>>1361505That is actually how I imagined it.
>>1361505Nice Ask her and Jessica to set up a table for the celebration while we go get him
>>1361505Say we're hyped for the success party, and need to set up upstairs.
>>1361514Upstairs I'm guessing? The first floor is the store basically, bathroom, back room and break room.At any rate you head downstairs to the cluttered basement, hearing music blaring and the smell of burning electronics. Weaving your way through all the piled up... stuff, you get to the workshop at the back, to find the Machinist in casual clothes working away at something while several robots of his, all different sizes help, or watch. Those not actively helping, all greet you cheerily and move to you if they are able, asking all sorts of things like where you went, how it was, if you brought them anything back, etc. "Ah you're back! Talk about a job well done, I think we got everything we needed off the computer. How are you feeling though? The first time can be rough, I remember."Sitting on a stool, a robot holding a magnifying glass and some others holding tools or parts, Joel keeps looking at what he's doing but is fully capable of talking with you.
>>1361546Tell him how to we sneaked and ko'd our way to the office! Proudly mentioned how we persuaded a guard and how we managed to get away from the last one thanks to our acting skills and some mischievous lying!
>>1361546I am feeling pretty good about it, managed to get through without causing lasting harm to any of the guards who were just doing their jobs and probably scared the exec shitless as a bonus
>>1361546"It was exciting!"Conduit and Spitfire, who's the hero of that pair?
>>1361546Now I feel bad we didn't get the automatons anything.
>>1361546"I'm thinking about getting a super hero costume, cause that lied worked pretty well on a guard."
>>1361563>>1361571You want to be the cool sort of villain, but you can't help but gush about how proud and excited you are after the job. A bit of a weird feeling you realize, thinking about it and how you're happy about criminal activity. Ah but you're not despicable, like the bodyguard, it was basically corporate espionage equivalent. You're not out there killing people or blowing things up, so you don't have to fell too bad. And how can you feel bad, when all the gathered robots watch and listen to you in awe, giving gasps and a big cheer at the end of your story and showering you with praise on a job well done and wanting to celebrate by giving you things, like Stapler giving you staples and Walker giving you CDs.At any rate Joel is glad for you, and compliments your efforts in particular your social engineering since that's not even a power but something you still pulled off, taking it as a good sign for things to come. Especially with the information gotten from the computer you obtained. He asks you to come and take a look at what he's doing though, explaining his work on something for you;>Level up~!Your success on the job, has earned you experience as well as the reward of Research towards a new power or gadget, and also the chance to either Learn a new power or gadget, or Improve one you already have.
>>1361617Do you have a list of the things we can do or can we go to wild with new abilities?
>>1361629There is a list but to make things simpler, I'll let players choose which broad category they want, and then provide a more detailed choice based on that. So for Research, and either Learning or Improving, which category do you want?>Quantum PowersThese are powers that come from your body and often will be upgrading your Accelerator Harness. They tend to be more personal powers of strange nature, like Subspace Trespass, or Red/Blueshifting, abilities which allow you to do different things or change the way your body behaves. This could also apply to others though, if you upgrade enough.>Cosmic PowersThese are powers that are possible because of your body, but tend to take the form of gadgets or weapons. In general they are typically, actual cosmic bodies or phenomena, but from subspace or miniaturized through subspace properties. An example of this would be the Micrometeors, or the Wormhole grenades. Most of the time these will apply to the environment rather than affecting yourself, but some could though.---Based on these parameters, you could either choose from the list I'd made, or I'd welcome creativity from the players by coming up with ideas for powers.>>1361576Spitfire is the hero, a popular jetpack flying ace.
>>1361659>Quantum powers>TrespassIf we could lower the cooldown or up the uses per hour that would be great
>>1361659Also a simple addition, as a general rule of thumb,>Quantum powers tend to not be as powerful, but have more complicated, often strange effects which may have many different applications.>Cosmic powers tend to be much more powerful, but very simple and direct in their use/application.
>>1361659 #>Quantum powers>TrespassI woulda guessed conduit
>>1361659Quantum Tresspass
>>1361685Nope, Conduit is a villain and one of the two you know in the city at large, to use electric based powers. She's not as dastardly as the other, but she is definitely a public problem because her powers draw from stealing energy of external sources. Like say, the city's power grid.>>1361685>>1361674Is this a choice for Research or Learning/Improving?For learning or improving, it's one or the other. You can learn a new power or improve one, but not both.
>>1361702Improve!
>>1361702Improve trespassBegin research on a wormholeesque grenade that keeps the portal open longer. And sucks everything through, hopefully to a second relay.
>>1361702Improve Quantam Trespass
>>1361702Improve trespassWhat's the MC's name?
>>1361734Susan bandanna
>>1361734Emily>>1361249We don't know her last name though
>>1361714That would just be improving either the Wormhole grenades, or the Cosmic Shunt, both of which have similar properties to what you are speaking of.>>1361707>>1361714>>1361715So you want to Improve the power, Quantum Trespass? The available options then for improvement are;>Increased duration, a longer amount of time you can safely spend in subspace>Increased uses, more uses of the power per recharge hour of your harness>Realspace interaction, some properties of realspace will still apply to you while in subspace if you wish, like gravity>Realspace awareness, while trespassing you can remain aware of realspace like still being able to see>Dark energy drag, while trespassing you accumulate dark energy and upon entering realspace again you trigger an energy burst>Afterimage, although you will slip through subspace there will be left a visual representation of you in realspace which can be detected but not interact or be interacted with in any wayOr if you can come up with ideas for other ways to improve it.>>1361734Emily Eaton, her real name at least.
>>1361755>Realspace awareness, while trespassing you can remain aware of realspace like still being able to see.
>>1361755I'm torn between Duration and Uses Can we only do one?
>>1361770Yes, only one.
>>1361776Then i vote for Uses
>>1361755>Increased uses, more uses of the power per recharge hour of your harnessYeah cosmic shunt
>>1361755>uses for sure
>>1361804>>1361783>>1361767So the majority choice is for more uses? You'll get one more use, so two per hour, if you choose that improvement.
>>1361807Sounds good.
>>1361807Yeah, we need that for the tresspass
>>1361809>>1361811Alright then, Joel will upgrade your harness to be able to allow for another use of Quantum Trespass per recharge hour. It'll take some work though, and will occupy the both of you, since you can't remove the harness safely. He thinks that can be done at a later time though, particularly when Jessica comes downstairs to let you know she set everything up.>>1361794And is this the agreement, research towards that power?
>>1361831I dunno what's that about but sure
>>1361831And yeah Lets do that later For now! Celebration Time! Eat them junk food guuurl, enjoy dat delicious food for one night Git THICCC
>>1361831I feel we should research into a grenade that creates a fixed point in space with a massive gravitational pull. The singularity grenade.
>>1361854Well that's something Joel already knows how to make for you, but it would be something you learn.Research is more, expanding upon the chosen power, and revealing possibilities related to it.
>>1361859If we grab onto somebody before we trespass, could we just drop them into the dark matter realm?
>>1361872No, since you'll just phase right through them. That would require a different Quantum power, which allows you to prime objects for subspace. With that power then, yes you could drag someone with you and leave them.Though you can sort of already do that with the Womhole grenades, if they come with you and you manage to loose them or let go, they'll be left in outer space.
>>1361884Oh no! This nuke is going to detonate. What ever should we do? >I'll save you!Drops nuke in worm hole.YAY!Blows up the Paleogene period, killing all the dinosaurs.
>>1361901No no, you don't have time-affecting powers. Yet.So! It seems like you settled on Improving one power and Researching for another. I think the plan now is to celebrate, but do you want to do anything else beforehand?
>>1361909Flirt with B0ss
>>1361932>>1361909Don't
>>1361932Lets not piss off the one who retrieved us from a horrible death of starving and dehydration.
>>1361942>>1361948We probably have a crush on him but that can wait >>1361932Later anon When the time is right
>>1361932Joel is a nice guy but you don't see him that way. You have a crush anyway. So with Jessica letting you know everything is good to go upstairs, the robots which can move are all excited and want to join in, hopping or walking around and looking forward to going upstairs, the ones who can't move being helped or carried by those who can. You're looking forward to it as well, but Joel seems a little distant and says you all can go on and have some fun, he wants to finish working on this and maybe he'll join you all in a bit. This isn't out of the ordinary for him, he's a reserved kind of guy, but you were looking forward to celebrating with everyone. Have some snacks, maybe some drinks, get a movie on and some music, maybe even the news to see if you show up, have a nice evening together.
Rolled 62 (1d100)>>1361962No! Press that motherfucker into joining! We spent our 50 bucks of blood money on snacks to party with him! Rolling to convince himAnd who might our crush be?
>>1361962Save him some snacks, just don't bring them down near where he is working.Talk to Jessica.Later ask Joel if there is a way to find the original Jessica, using the theory of quantum entanglement as a basis?
>>1361962Save him some snacks, just don't bring them down near where he is working.Talk to Jessica.Ask if robots ever want more arms. Ask the robots this of course. Although we can ask Jessica as well.
>>1361968Seconding this, but not re-rolling
>>1361968>62You try to convince Joel to come on up and join you all for the party. He says he will, just in a bit, he'll try to finish up here as quick as he can. He won't need the help of the robots though so they can go with you.A little disappointed, you go with Jessica then, a little crowd of jumping excited robots scampering about your feet as you head up the stairs together. Some of the bigger robots on the main floor are interested but they can't fit upstairs so they'll try to be happy for you down here. And ah the top floor where you all live, the familiar creak of the stairs on the way up. It probably wasn't built to be lived in but overtime people made it such, and now under Joel it's pretty nice. A general living room and kitchen area, personal rooms for each of you, even some room for storage or personal work. In theory you'd want to convert it into a gym, since you can't be out of shape to be a villain; you're a little heavier than you'd like to be and Joel is a hungry skeleton, but he doesn't seem to care though so there isn't enough incentive yet to spring for the gym.At any rate Jessica set up all the stuff you bought on the dining table and got out some other stuff too, including a few drinks if you care to. She even decorated a little and has music playing with the help of the sound system Joel made a robot out of. The mass of smaller robots disperse around, some climbing on the furniture, others keeping by your legs or jumping and asking to be picked up. Jessica though after a quick trip out of sight, returns with a small cake she made for the occasion, congratulating your success on the villainous job, and she asks how you'd like to celebrate? Normally your guys' evenings together are spent watching TV or movies, playing games or just hanging out together, which she's happy to do but if you had something special in mind she's fine with that as well.
>>1361980As for the robots, that's kind of how the Machinist works, he just takes normal electronics and makes robots out of them. Generally though he tries to maintain their form and function as close as possible, in case they need to appear as the items that they are to observers, or when they need to be turned off they can just revert to their base format. Because of this though, indeed some robots are unfortunately less able than others, and may not have a full set of limbs, may not have certain physical capabilities or senses. It does seem to bother some of them sometimes but they never complain, since the other robots who are physically capable, are always willing to help. You would think to ask Joel of helping out the disabled ones, but in some cases he can't without altering the base component and risking detection.

Lets ask Jessica if she wants to be our sidekick, or perhaps a henchman. Since she is a duplicate, she has reasonable doubt, incase she gets caught.
Oh good night btw
>>1362047Good night random internet anon.
Rolled 3 (1d100)>>1362021I think it's time to retell the daring and epic tell of 'She Who Committed Corporate Espionage.'>rolling for storytelling
Rolled 75 (1d100)>>1362053This during the games
>>1362036>>1362040You sit together with Jessica at the dining table while the robots crowd around or climb up, wanting some even though they can't eat any. Well, some of them can "eat" in the same way Disposer, the garbage disposal can "eat" things, but definitely not a robot made from a cell phone, for example. So you eat and drink and pig out a little, talking with Jessica and the robots, the former of whom doesn't eat or drink really anything at all and the latter whom rather hectically surge around complicating things due to different personalities driven by their natural functions. It's still nice though, you have fun.As for their names, the Machinist names almost all of them basically after their function. So the boombox is Boomer, the ceiling fan is Spinner, things like that.>>1362044>>1362059After awhile you bust out the cards, and play some games with Jessica and groups of robots gathering in teams. Unfortunately the games don't go well for you, Counter and Shuffler are too good, but you keep everyone entertained with your riveting story. Well not the best story, but you make it up on the fly, and do a good job. The robots love it at least, some recording it if they can, others typing or printing it out to paper, and Jessica is always eager to hear and learn more about the world to make up for her inexperience. You also take the chance to offer Jessica to be your sidekick and while she likes the idea, she doesn't think she'd be any good at it. For one, she doesn't have any powers, and for two she's not that skilled or knowledgeable. Also on an empathetic note, she wouldn't want to give other Jessica's a hard time by taking to criminal activity. Many of them have it bad enough as it is, a villainous one running around would just make people dislike them more.
>>1362045>>1362036So after the card games and storytelling, you figure you could get some movies in, and run and jump on the couch, a little tipsy yourself and dragging junk food with you, spilling some as you go. Jumping around for fun, some of the robots try to join in as the can, but your greater size and weight throw many of them around on the couch and scare them. Eventually Jessica returns with some blankets and says she can pull out the couch bed if you want, in the meantime what movie or TV did you want to watch? The robots all have different preferences and favorites, while Jessica likes romance movies, but the choice is yours.
>>1362085I <3 Robot That one with Wally Smithy
>>1362096Wall-e Robots and romance, perfect for everyone.
>>1362100But you like horror films, especially slasher ones...
>>1362100Supporting thisSounds better and fits the robots and Jessica
>>1362102Ok, Tucker and Dale vs Evil.
>>1362102Channel, you can't give us control over a character with little details about said character and expect us not to impose our idea of what that character's personality should be.But fine, we'll think of a scifi slasher film with heavy romance.
>>1362124>Dat genre thoCan such a thing even exist?
>>1362112Jesus Christ that movie sucked.>mfw>>1362124I can do whatever I like, I'm a mainstream media source! If you think Emily has a better favor of some other movies though, feel free to say!>>1362111>>1362100Wall-Y it is then, the Pixal movie about the little trash collecting robot! The robots definitely love watching it, and get very involved, some even dancing among one another at the characteristic scene. And of course Jessica likes it, she's a bit of a sap and hugs you to pretend not to cry.You ate a bunch of junkfood though and got a little drunk, so you crash, and are out before anything bad even starts to happen.---You're stirred awake sometime later when Jessica, whom had either fallen asleep as well or was fine just going to sleep with you, gets up to go to the bathroom. You struggle to sit up in the couch-bed, your hair a mess and feeling rather sore from having slept wrong with your harness. When Jessica returns though and sees you awake, she jumps in surprise at first but quickly apologizes and asks if she can get you anything? You notice most of the robots have plugged into the many, many extension power bricks around the place, but a few just went into standby on the bed with you, and a fewer still are active and building a house out of DVD boxes.
Tucker and Dale has slasher horror, dumb ass kid jumps head first into wood chipper, and romance, Dale and Allison fall in love.
>>1362136Out of all the movies ever filmed, there has to one or two that fit the description. They're probably either the greatest movies that no-one's seen, or forgettable piles of garbage. Most likely it's the latter.
>>1362153>I wonder how my family is doing.>I wonder if they miss me
>>1362162The closest thing that comes to my mind for 'sci fi horror romance' would be Aliens, since Ripley and Hicks were pretty close by the end. Not exactly romance, but there were some tender moments amidst the action.
Did Joel ever join the party? If he didn't lets go bother him.>>1362153
>>1362153Just reposition ourselves to get comfortable and go back to sleep, make sure to make room for Jessica Also do the Jessicas look the same? Or do they vary in appearance but share a common feature? And do u have a reference pic?
>>1362194We can pester him tomorrow when we're fully charged and not sore
>>1362201Only if we fuss at him to take better care of himself.
>>1362205Sure
>>1362206>>1362153Reposition ourselves, and invite Jessica back. We need the warmth, cause we're not thicc.
G'night guys.Don't let the Quantom predators bite
>>1362169You're not sure why, maybe it was the drinking, but you're suddenly overcome with strong feelings and emotions...Your family, they thought you died, well everyone did. You haven't been back long enough to really prepare or build yourself up to seeing them again... but now with this potential descent into villainy, is that a good idea?>>1362194No actually, you realize now a little cross, he never did join the party and you don't even see him around now.>>1362196Well Jessica actually has her own room, so do you, which she asks if you'd prefer? She raises kind of a good point, since your normal bed is altered to accommodate you sleeping in your harness. Here on the pull-out bed, you're only going to wake up sore and tired. It's your choice though of course, and Jessica will certainly share the pull-out with you again if you'd like. You are the one who's celebrating after all.As for Jessica herself, no they're all exactly identical, at least at the point of dividing. What she looks like, didn't have anything particular in mind but could just find some random picture if you'd want.
>>1362225If she can be comfortable sleeping in our custom bed sure ask her to come with us and snuggle into sleep like the BFF's we are.
>>1362216Good night, other random anon.We lost another>>1362225How big is the harness?Lets go to our bed, we need to be on our A game for whatever tomorrow brings.
>>1362225Either bring Jessica to our bed or put up with the uncomfortable bed. Tipsy, sleepy snuggling is worth it.
>>1362240Our bed, sharing is caring.
>>1362240>>1362230Nah it's a single, you wouldn't both fit. You still had a nice evening together though, it's not like anyone is getting the cold shoulder.>>1362231It's not overly huge, you can wear a shirt over it and hide it with a hoodie. But it's not really flexible, and the accelerator is about the size of a dinner plate. You actually had to have the Machinist redesign it from the first model he made where the accelerator was in the front, because you're too chesty for it to have fit comfortably.
>>1362246AhFuck itSleep on the floor and use any couch pillows and sheets to make it bearable, like >>1362240said Tipsy snuggling is worth itNothing beats BFF snuggles
>>1362246Then I guess it's up to what we're doing tomorrow. If we have a big day of villainy planned we probably want to be well rested. If not, fuck it, budge over for Jessica.
>>1362246If there were more than one accelerator, could they be made smaller? And lets continue to be warm and comfortable together on the couch.
>>1362253It's not the number, but the components of the thing. At the heart of the accelerator is a small dyson sphere, housing a dark matter star. The accelerator lets the matter bleed off safely, and saturate your body with it so that you can remain consistent and maintain your presence in realspace. So yeah, it's not the number but the fact that the thing is about as small as it can get, without becoming dangerous or unstable. Maybe one of the super geniuses could improve on it a little, but the Machinist is super smart himself, just lacking the resources some of the big names have.>>1362249>>1362251So you try your best to set yourself up for a not awful sleep, so that you can share the bed with Jessica and snuggle to sleep. You're good enough friends for that.Make a roll for sleep then!

>>1362300Correction: no one can sleep better than me if I don't actually sleep
>>1362292>>1362294>>1362295>46 averageEh, it's not the worst sleep you've ever had, but it's pretty bad. When you wake up to Jessica cooking breakfast for you with the help of some of the robots, you feel quite stiff and still pretty tired. Not much a hangover though so you're thankful for that, you're a bit of a lightweight you suppose.First thing's first, you've got to use the bathroom, but after that what do you want to do? The smell of bacon and eggs is hot in the air, but before or after eating... well you basically just rolled out of bed so you're out of sorts.
>>1362306Lets do some excercise after eating! Change to more Sporty clothes first then do some push-ups, squats and whatnot. Then when we're all sweaty and shiet go pester Joel
>>1362306Make room for more food and drink, bathroom time. Then breakfast, and check on Joel. Taunt him with the food, and tell him if he's hungry he needs to leave the basement.
Rolled 21 (1d100)>>1362313Rolling if neededAnd do>>1362314Before excercise
>>1362313>>1362314First a trip to the ladies room, then breakfast with Jessica. She asks what you plan to do today, you did have something lined up though, and she says she can give you a ride if you like, or you could just take the car. Depending on where you're headed though, parking can be a nightmare. For now though you just enjoy breakfast, well made, and a little coffee. Just what you needed, as you head downstairs to find Joel. He's actually not in the basement but working the counter in the store. Not currently busy with anyone but there is someone perusing through. As busy as Joel is with fixing someone's phone though on the side, he doesn't notice you come down.
>>1362336Sneak up behind him, place bacon under his nose. When he notices, snatch it away. Then talk to him, while watching the "shopper."And good night Channel 5 Anchorperson.
>>1362336Let Joel know what gadgets we need replaced and get to working out. The gym probably isn't viable considering the harness so let's an open and clear spot we can get /fit/
>>1362342This then>>1362345We need to get fit boi
>>1362342You attempt to sneak up on him, but he's probably got some sort of sensor against that so catches you before you get all the way. Expecting an attacker, both he and the customer are surprised to see you in your pjs though. Not like you care at any rate, but you tempt him with the food. He says he's already eaten though, and wondered if you needed anything? He knows about the equipment you expended so can replace that no problem. Just a reminder that at some point you'll have to take the time aside so he can upgrade your harness.
>>1362351We can't give in to the temptation of THICC if we're gonna be super villains.>>1362362Ask Joel the next step in our master plan for being recognised as legitimate ne'er do wells. And probably do the upgrade now while we have the time. Also, do we have extra harnesses? Or are we stuck in our current one?
>>1362380The next step is up to you, if you want. With the information he got from your job at the office, he has enough information to plan for a next job, but it will take time. If you wanted to do something on your own in the meantime though, like rob a bank or kidnap someone, you're welcome to do so. He just suggests playing it safe, careful, and not biting off more than you can chew. IE not running afoul of a superhero. So if you want to put forward suggestions for something dastardly you can. Failing all else, he supposes you could always temp sidekick for one of the bigger villains. They're always looking for henchmen, but naturally you should be wary of betrayal or being considered expendable. As for the harness, you're not stuck in it you can take it off any time, but doing so will cause you to fall out of realspace again. Having a backup harness isn't the main issue, it's that he doesn't have another accelerator, which is the main factor. If you had a request for some other harness for him to make though, and then switch out and move the accelerator over, that could be possible.
>>1362398Lets stay in a day getting /fit/The next day however... Lets rob one of dem Walkmarts or a Good Buy during the night and get some sweet ass Gym Equipment
>>1362409A new TV might be nice, you're just using Joel's old CRT in the place here.As for today though, you did have something planned so you can't just stay in *all* day. Later on you want to head into town.
>>1362398Well there's no point wasting time, get Joel to work out the next job. And for now, I agree with >>1362409Although I reckon it wouldn't be hard to rob a bank with quantum grenade shenanigans. Does trespass give us the ability to pass through solid objects?
>>1362412Lets do some excercise for a few hours then take a bath and get ready for whatever we had planned
>>1362413Unless there is some special means of protection in place, then yes, you can pass through solid objects. Walls, floors, people, whatever.>>1362414Right then, roll for exercise!

Rolled 5 (1d100)>>1362420>>1362422>unphase into someone Either instant suicide or the messiest, most badass murder ever.
>>1362422You don't have a power appropriate to that (though could) so bad things would happen.
Rolled 27 (1d100)Was going to bed, can't sleep.
>>1362430>>1362422>11 averageLeaving Joel to it, you head back upstairs where you find Jessica cleaning up the kitchen while the news is on. Something about the constant threat of the graveyards around the city being desecrated by Madre Muerte. This seems as good a chance as any to try and workout then, since if you're going to be a villain you want to be in shape. At least enough to be able to run away from someone. So you clear a space in front of the TV and try to do even some basic workouts but... hoo boy, you're out of shape. Maybe you're more thicc than you realized, and you not only don't make any progress but end up wearing yourself out as you struggle just to do some basic exercises. With a groan you fall back on the rug, sweaty and tired and feeling kind of like a loser. Maybe best to just wash up for now, and avoid the scale in the bathroom while you're at it.
Rolled 38 (1d100)>>1362420>Right then, roll for exercise! We must become /fit/ to obtain waifus!
>>1362440We're entering back into the normal world right? When we unphase Damn Eat another small chocolate bar after bathing, squeeze dem tiny chub folds while bathing and grab another tiny chocolate bar before leaving, curse ourselves for being weak while eating it
>>1362448You're not chubby, just thicc. If you keep on with the snacking though you'll get chubby.
>>1362440Well at least we tried. Lets hit those showers for now. Also with two trespasses an hour robbing a bank is as easy as phase into the vault and back out again with an armful of gold bullion or whatever.
>>1362448We're opening up the space where we're reappearing right? Not materializing bit by bit >>1362451Doesn't matter Irrelevant Squeeze what little fat we have during the bath to gain will to excercise and nab dat chocolate before leaving then eat dat mo'fockin chocolate while cursing ourselves
>>1362448>>1362454It's a gradual process, so you would reform as best you could inside whatever space there was, and if you couldn't then that space portion of you would be missing. >>1362453>>1362454Well at any rate, after you've settled down from the failed workout and caught your breath, you struggle to get up and head to the bathroom for a shower. Except for your bra you don't have trouble getting undressed, though you still have difficulty washing and getting clean with the harness on. Joel made it waterproof and you can loosen it a little to reach under, but it always has to remain in close contact with your torso pretty much. Still, you're getting more used to it with time, and with enough effort can get washed and clean for the day. Wrapped up with a towel you carry your clothes to your room, and sitting on the bed think of what to wear for today? Obviously something which can conceal your harness, but baggy casuals again? Something nicer? You're going to be meeting with someone when you head into town so there's that to consider.
>>1362508Does that someone know about our powers?
>>1362513The only people who know about your powers is Joel and Jessica. This other person you did know before your accident though, and you already went through the fuss of meeting with them again afterward and explaining that you're not dead.
>>1362518How well do we know them? I mean if they were just a friend then I saw to hell with it just dress in some normal baggy clothes but if they are more of an old business partner or something put on something half decent and just wear a jacket over it
>>1362518HmmWe can't wear that floral dress we like because of the harness so i say we grab that nice teal skirt and a brown t-shirt below that hoodie unless we have something nice that doesn't require the use of the hoodie to keep the harness hidden
>>1362525Yeah i need to know this too
>>1362508I vote an oversized sweater to hide the harness and jeans. Plus ask Jessica to drop us off so we don't have to bother with parking in the city.
>>1362525A good friend, you don't have to dress to impress but you do care what they think about you.>>1362526If you can think of something besides a hoodie which might do the trick then you could. Like a backpack would cover the accelerator just as well, but then you'd look like one of *those* girls.>>1362528You'll have to wait and see~>>1362530This could work yes. And asking Jessica if she would, she'd be happy to give you a ride and drop you off. Depending on how long she can also just find somewhere to park and wait nearby, or she can park proper, and go do her own thing.
>>1362538Those girls? Wot
>>1362538AnywaysI vote for the floral dress and one of those sport backpacks, those that are almost flat, that should be enough right? I gtg sleep op, cya And don't forget to squeeze whatever fat we have to gain will to excercise and nab dat chocolate on our way out
>>1362544Well a shirt as well, but yes that would conceal it.
>>1362538Eh, then I suggest a good pair of jeans without holes in them, a nice t shirt, and just wear a jacket over it to hide the harness and so you don't have to worry about the shirt as much
>>1362559>>1362544For simplicity's sake you'll just go with nice casual for now, if you need to dress up it will be made clear. So picking out your clothes, you hang the towel to get dressed, but end up checking yourself over. Pinching here and there a little, you sigh and resolve to try and do better with the exercise, before putting your clothes on. A trip to the bathroom for the remaining basics like brushing your teeth and applying de-o, and... maybe a teensy bit of makeup. Before long and you're ready to go, letting Jessica know so she can get anything she needs. Already earlier she took care of the basics like getting washed and clean so it doesn't take long. That's your chance to sneak some chocolate for when no one's looking. Together the two of you let Joel know that you're taking the car into town which he's fine with, just reminds Jessica to be careful since she doesn't have a license or ID or anything.Whew, so now you just have the 45 minute minimum drive to downtown to look forward to. And that's assuming just normal traffic, no jams or evacuations due to catastrophe. Naturally there's the basics to look forward to like the radio and the view, but have you any interest in doing anything during the drive to into the city?
>>1362575Chat with Jess. Ask how things are going at the store while we're gone. I feel like those little robots like to cause trouble every now and again if for nothing else then to kill boredom or to get back at a customer for being rude to the staff... or a hipster
>>1362583You talk with Jessica the drive over then. It's kind of forced at first just to break the silence but eventually you're both conversing as easily and normally as ever. One of the topics is her work at the store, which she enjoys enough. It's easy work for the most part, she usually just handles interactions with the customers while Joel takes care of any specific or technical stuff. All in all she's very grateful to him, for taking her in and giving her a good life, compared to the way other Jessicas have it. Even better with her condition, for him to have made a gadget which monitors her nutrition intake, so she knows what the limit is she has to avoid, so that she doesn't undergo the division process. This and other things, because of it she doesn't mind that Joel and now you are villains, and seems loyal enough to be fine with whatever the two of you might do.As for the robots, the Machinist actually has most of them on timers, so that they are inactive during business hours. Inactive in the sense that, they aren't active as robots, but still serve their normal functions. The very few robots that aren't deactivated, are confined to the basement, usually as direct helpers to him, so she never really sees them during business hours anyway. Would that the robots were active in the day though, yes she imagines it would be a real nightmare. A funny one for sure, but a nightmare nonetheless.---The suburbs give way to higher and denser buildings, and by the time you cross the river to downtown, it's clearer than ever. The high rises and sky scrapers of each block, the density of traffic and people, the sights, smells and sounds. Ah well, with the windows up maybe not the smells, but definitely the sights and sounds.Awhile longer and you're at your destination, at the corner of Mercer and West 4th. Jessica pulls the station wagon to a side for you to hop out, quickly so you don't hold up traffic. You say your quick goodbyes as well, and she says to call her if you need anything, she'll probably find a place to park and do things on her own.
>>1362604But ahh, right amid New Angouleme City University, downtown campus. You look forward to being able to take classes again. An easy meeting spot though, considering you used to spend time around together, and he still is an active student. And wouldn't you know it, after wandering around where you said you'd meet, there you see him standing on the fringe of a small crowd listening to and jeering at a provocateur. It's Mark, your longtime, probably best friend. Would have been boyfriend, but thanks to the accident, that wasn't to be. Still, you've known him for years, and despite always having had a crush on him, you can still get along. Easier now, that a relationship is off the table. You like spending time with him though, besides the obvious, since he's the first and only person so far from your personal life who knows about you still being alive. Of course ever supportive, he encourages you to let others know, but that's a personal matter and decision to make at some point. In the meantime, he's always been very accommodating and eager to help after your accident, helping you to readjust to more "normal" life and help get you up to speed after your time spent lost in subspace. Things are starting to get back to "normal" now though, where you're more or less used to life again, and you're able to meet with him just to spend time and hang out rather than needing his help all the time. Much the same with today, you wanted to meet with him after your villain job last night, not to tell him the truth (he doesn't know) unless of course you want to, but to at least have someone you're close with to talk to and vent the excitement. So yes, there he is, as of yet unaware of you in the plaza across the street. >How do you proceed?
>>1362615Calmly approach and greet cheerily. Let's not pull any stunts or sneak up on him since he's probably still not comfortable with the whole back from the dead concept. Also sorry if it's already been stated above but I can't find any mention of it, but how long were we gone from meat-space?
>>1362615join the crowd and work your way up front and see how long it takes him to notice youso who wants to bet that Mark is a super hero?
>>1362678Now that you mention it, no-one's ever seen Mark and Batman in the same room.
>>1362622>>1362678>>1362775Or maybe he's a super villain!Like the most famous one here, dunno That would be hot

>>1363223>>1363250Yaasssss
There's a lot of ads on the TV today huh
>>1362622>>1362678It's not that big of a crowd, but you mingle among them and wait for Mark to notice you, greeting him cheerily and having a laugh when hes does. You exchange the usual greeting pleasantries and then he asks if you'd like to go someplace else? You've got all day, so whatever you want really. As for the time away, after the accident you were lost in subspace for over three months, and you've been back for about one and a half-ish. So roughly five months total, approaching.
>>1363475Do we have anything planned? If not let's go to a park and eat some junk food while hanging out on a bench And ask him if he thinks we're fat?
>>1363475Emily and Josh seem like Red Robin kind of people.Let's go to Red Robin.Yum.
>>1363492There is Jefferson Square park not two blocks over, you used to hang out there sometimes when not in class. He's fine with that, and you can wait there together for the third person to arrive. So you leave the plaza together and crossing the street, you walk along the sidewalk, trying to keep together amid the crowds of people also coming and going about their lives. Before long you're entering the park and looking for a place to sit. It is in the middle of the day though so it's pretty populated here, mostly by other students of the college. A bench you can't find, but sitting together under a tree is possible. No way though are you asking him about your weight.>>1363497You mean Blue Cardinal? Yeah you like it there, and when you bring it up to him he thinks it's a great idea! Once the other person joins you, you can all go look for one. Shouldn't be too hard to find, though do you want to have Jessica drive you guys around?
>>1363475Let's just head to a park, maybe stop off at a coffeeshop for something to drink
>>1363524Nah let's walk, can't afford to laze around being the blob of fat we are, and yeah let's sin at the base of a tree while we wait
>>1363524Let's not invite Jessica.I'd like to keep our supervillain life and our civilian life separate, thank you very much. But yeah, let's sit under a tree and do unwholesome things....L-like holding hands...
>>1363562No, clearly it was SIN at the base of the tree.>>1363545
>>1363540You're at the park! There's the occasional food/drink vendor or truck around though if you've a particular taste.>>1363545Walking it is then, you need the exercise. So you sit by a tree together, a nice day out with the sounds of the city over the sounds of the park, and the nice feel of grass and leaves despite highrises and skyscrapers all around. You hang out together under the tree for awhile as you listen to him talk about his day. Eventually though she arrives, first calling and then you both notice her as she approaches, waving at a distance.Cathy, his girlfriend. They got together after your accident, and she helped Mark cope with the pain of supposedly losing you. You appreciate how she was there for him when you couldn't be, and she's never given a reason for you to dislike her, but naturally you're uncomfortable around her, especially when they're together with you. Unfortunately that's the cost of spending time with Mark, that sometimes his girlfriend comes along. As is the case today, and they exchange a quick greeting kiss when she gets over to you both, and she happily greets you as well, with a hug if you'll take it.>>1363562Best guy and girl friend, nearly a couple, don't sit together holding hands!
>>1363578Better yet, hold her hand.

You're not so keen on it, but there's nothing wrong with greeting her in kind, though you remain holding her hand and asking if they're ready to go? She's a little surprised by your gesture, but she doesn't mind, she wants to be friends with the best friend of her boyfriend.Blue Cardinal though, that sounds great and you can tell she's quite excited. She actually knows of one, a fair distance away but she didn't want to go on her own since it's opened up. They both engage you though so you don't feel so much like a third wheel. It's not the most pleasant half-hours walk or so though, but there's a lot to keep your attention and mind on, besides the busy streets and crowds of people, you pass by highrise, highrise, apartment building, highrise, skyscraper, highrise, residential row, clothing store, highrise, restaurant. Eventually though you reach the Blue Cardinal chain "nearby" and get told it's about a fifteen minute wait or so.You're all a little disappointed but that's not unbearable. They're trying to think of what to do in the meantime. Mark is content to just wait here, though Cathy would like to visit any place nearby just to while the time. They ask what you'd like?
>>1363753Staying here is fine.
>>1363753And we've lived with ourselves knowing that? Holy ShitNo wonder we're fatLets stay, I'd rather just get this over with
>>1363753Lets get muscley, with a layer of fat. The favorite body type for fighting in the roman colosseum. That way we can strong arm civilians, and withstand the cold.
>>1363764>>1363765You decide just to wait for the time being, while you all talk. Or well, they talk and you feel kind of dejected. Over the time waiting your phone buzzes a few times as Jessica sends you funny pictures she took of herself with what she's doing on her own, and interestingly you notice an on-foot police chase across the street.Otherwise though, if you didn't have anything in mind, the time will pass and you can be seated.
>>1363787Look uncomfortable when they single you out and if it happens too often say we're going to the bathroom and leave the place to find Jessica
>>1363799Seconding
>>1363787Follow the foot chase.
>>1363853>>1363848The foot chase is before you've been seated even, do you want to dock out on them to pursue it instead?
>>1363861NahJust go home to cry from being the third wheel and get fitAnd prepare to rob a department store during the night
>>1363861Nah, just remember which direction they ran, the "bad guy" might of ditched something.
>>1363868 *Audible Gasp* Lurker Anon?
>>1363882Nooo?
>>1363864>>1363868You can't really come up with an excuse good enough to ditch them, so you just keep a mind of where the chase went along, and end up getting seated together. Actually nicely of her you think, Cathy lets you sit beside Mark, saying you guys had planned coming out today and picked the place so that's only fair. Though, they're still sitting across from one another so it's still a little weird. The place is bustling though, pretty noisy with people during the lunch rush. TVs are on around with things like the news or sports, particularly the bar area. Eventually though a waitress introduces herself and asks what she can get for you all? To drink first but also eating to get that out of the way. You're hungry, but Cathy gets a salad and now you become more aware of your weight.Though, they do make good burgers here...
>>1363938Pick the girthies cut of meat possible If they have any glazed with John Doniels pick that one Where's the fun in going out to eat if we're picking a salad? EwAnd this bitch KNEW we planned this and she STILL came along? Wow, no trust in her boyfriend I like her less now Lets eat, say that the food was bad, go to the bathroom, come back, say we puked, go to Jessica
>>1363966Jessica seems nicer anyway.
>>1363938Salad, honestly the best part of Blue Cardinal is their fries and we should get a bottemless basket for the tabel
>>1363996Seconding
>>1363966>>1363973Thirding
>>1363966>>1363996A fair compromise between the two, you settle for the chicken tendies and the bottomless fries for the table. And it's a salad for Cathy, a burger for Mark.At any rate it's a nice enough time spent together and while waiting for the food, the conversation turns to you, as Cathy wants to know more about you. From what she understands, you had some personal trouble for a few months that you're now recovering, and she wants to know what you plan to do now, moving forward. She also says, knowing you lost your previous job, if you need one she could try to get you a job at where she works. She knows how much Mark helped you out, and she too had some hand to play in that.
>>1364076UghI really do not want anything from her, politely turn her down then go to the bathroom to initiate the act in >>1363966Absolutely no trust in her bf, she also has no manners considering ^
>>1364084So is the plan to fake food sickness and try to skip out on them?
>>1364102Yes
>>1364102Can we not be so transparently needy? Let's just ask them how they've been doing.
>>1364102seems a bit early for that. I say just turn the conversation to them and not about us... Also what she does for a living. Don't think we're going to actually get a job their but it at least makes small talk and moves the topic away from us.
>>1364109Seconding Even lurking i don't like her
>>1364254Yeah
>>1364258Shit, Wrong thread
>>1364076>>1364234>>1364247Support. It's a bit early to fake getting food poisoning. We should at least try not to make it so obvious if we're going to do this.>>1364260It happens.
>>1364234Is that as Emily as a person, or Emily the character being controlled?
>>1364265Why food poisoning, just say we have a job. Speak of the devil, my boss is calling me now. Then leave. Leave them with the bill too.
>>1364291Or this Just leave that hoe, i don't want to spend more time than needed with her
>>1364288I feel as if those were the words of Emily's inner voice of reason.I will support those words.
>>1364247>>1364234>>1364265>>1364291You decide against faking food poisoning, but maybe you'll still come up with an excuse to be able to duck out when you want to.For now though, you just keep any misgivings to yourself and talk to them more. Better not to be put in the spotlight you figure. As for Cathy, she works as a secretary position for a firm here in downtown, the job she would try to get you would be something like that, or receptionist. Certainly more of a job than what you used to have.So the conversation continues over the eating, and Cathy herself offers to cover the tab since she's the tagalong for the day, and also makes more than either of you. Among the talking while waiting for the receipt and Cathy's card back, she asks what you guys want to do next. Mark figures maybe a stop by the downtown mall which isn't too far from here, but he asks what you'd like?
>>1364325Initiate food poisoning act Then leave
>>1364325Going to the mall would be nice, and while we are there we should scope out any safes they have.
>>1364342>>1364345With them or alone then? Naturally it will change how well you can case a location for potential crime.
>>1364325I'll second going to the mall. No scoping out safes though, we don't need to be a villain full time, we just did a job, this is relaxation time.>>1364342This is really dumb and if we do ditch them, let's just say we have an errand to run or something came up. Food poisoning is ridiculous. It happens hours after you eat, not seconds or minutes.
>>1364384With them of course! We can't move forward without accepting he's moved on.
>>1364386As long as we get away from her im okay with the errand
>>1364386>>1364389>>1364345Going to the mall with them seems to be the plan then, and once the receipt gets back you all head out together. Stepping outside of the restaurant, Mark holding the door for you, you're met again by the sight and sound of the city. Less crowded around this area now, that the foot chase has well passed. Still bustling enough though that you seek to stay close together. As for the mall, the place itself is another "nearby" location though so it will be at least a good twenty or thirty minute walk from here. The good news is that all this walking has to be good for your weight. In the meantime, go ahead and make a roll just to see how things go down on the trip over.
Rolled 78 (1d100)>>1364401Natty 5 senpai
>>1364415No one else roll, this roll is pure
>>1364425Can I roll again?
>>1364441Please don't
>>1364415>78So the trip over is an easy enough one, though you have to take a detour due to an active crime scene from a mob conflict earlier. The mall though is open and bustling, no worries in here about any danger, for now.The downtown mall itself, is a pretty large building, occupying a block itself and many floors high. Most above the ground level are offices though, while the mall proper is no higher than the third floor and extends a few farther below ground level. All things considered, it's not as nice as one of the upscale department stores, but it's *relatively* cheaper and cheerful-er. Certainly more people around, and the place is abuzz with activity, and the air full of sounds, in particular frequent announcements about sales going on or deals to look out for.The three of you get in through the ground floor entrance, moving to the main atrium and looking up at the open space extending all the way up to the third floor ceiling, each of the upper floors situated around the atrium and aligning as balconies. >How do you proceed?
>>1364477Is anyone else hungry?
>>1364477either look around for some electronic stuff to give to your boss, something jessica might like, or look for something for you to do to kill time around the store while you're not working... like a gameboy or a comic or something.>>1364498no.
Rolled 67 (1d100)>>1364477Let's go people watching. And makeup stories about their lives.
>>1364498You literally just came from a restaurant!>>1364502There's a couple electronics stores, though it seems a bit redundant to get something here for the Machinist that he couldn't get or make on his own. As for Jessica that's easier, she has a liking of stuffed things, as of late kind of getting into a collecting craze for Beady Babies. And of course for you, well something electronic, again, might be redundant. Something to do isn't a bad idea of course, but comics? You're not a big fan, it seems more for kids. Those are some things on your mind, but Cathy actually is looking to get some clothes, and offers to get you something as well, taking your hands and asking from what place you can go together? Mark is fine with you two taking some time aside together if you want, he'll just check out one of the sporting goods stores to see if there's anything the children in the mentorship program might like.>>1364503This is something you'd definitely enjoy doing, you and Mark sometimes did it together, at college but still. Maybe first get the shopping out of the way though?
>>1364539Get Machinist some tools or raw materials then. Pretty sure he can't conjure his inventions from nothing.
>>1364547You're right about that but he tends to just get everything he needs bought in bulk, supposedly for the store but he takes what he needs. It's not as though you can't get him something, but it would be a case that, anything this mall has for sale, he'd likely already have several of. Of course if you don't mind and just want a gift to give that's fine too.
Rolled 98 (1d100)>>1364539Haha yes, hang out with Cathy! She sounds so sweet.
>>1364539See if they have any origami paper, origami helps keep the mind sharp and the fingers nimble.
