[?? hours remain]

Your eyes open slowly. Blinking to clear the haze, you shake your head in disarray. Balance spinning, you heave yourself up onto your hands and knees, taking a few seconds to dispel the nausea. Bracing yourself against a wall, you hoist yourself up and take a look around.

The room is overgrown, glowing fungi and ominously gnarled plant life abounding. It looks like a holding cell, what with the cot, toilet(?) and heavy-looking door, thoughtfully pried open by the plant life. You look up, but the chute that shot you down here is much too narrow for you to fly through. You’d probably hit your head and die. You check over your equipment. Your sidearm’s in its holster, your ammo pouches are near full, your knife’s in its sheath, and your SMG…

...is hanging from that vine. Shit.

You yank on the vine a few times - it’s damn tough - and take a jump, catching yourself at the apex on the vine. From there, you push off against the wall, grabbing the gun on your way past. From there, you just drop, knees bending as you land.

With nothing left to do in here, you head out into the hall. It’s dimly lit by biological-looking orange light from the corners of the hall. You hear a whirring, humming sound from the right, and your head snaps right. You can’t see much, but metal glints behind a bright blue light…

>mod 19 - good success

You dodge behind what looks to be a small storage barrel, activating your VISR's recording systems as you do. The... thing... hovers past, beams of light playing across everything in its path. You hope the storage barrel will protect you as the beam of light flits across it. It cycles for a few seconds before turning around and going back the way it came, substantially faster now that it isn't scanning everything in its path. You honestly can't tell if it saw you.

You move, carefully, after the thing, but eventually you abandon stealth in favor of keeping track of it - this facility's a maze, whatever it is, and that robot moves at a good clip. You don't think it catches sight of you, but you can't exactly read its body language. At least the ground is sloping down, so gravity, at least, is on your side.

The corridor ends abruptly, like it was cut away. It feeds out onto the same sort of unnaturally smooth, flat rock, with only the rare pore or crack giving away that it's even stone. There's no cover here.

You eventually emerge into a massive cavern. You definitely came down quite a bit; there's no way this would fit entirely inside one of the mesas on the surface of Plateau. More phosphorescent flora illuminates what looks like the prow of a massive ship. Bladelike, it juts into the floor, its rear spiking into the wall at a sharp angle. It's definitely not whole; a very obvious break point turns it from clean, sharp lines on its intact sections to jagged teeth of metal on its broken ones.

You see the robot dart inside one of its access hatches. What do you do?

Try to Comm the squad or look around for anything resembling a terminal like the one at the entrance. It was in english, maybe we can get some information?

But try to contact squad. INB4 can't contact squad. I can already see ONI and certain xenos coming here...

It's our best bet for finding a way to navigate this place.
>>
Working your way down to the cavern floor, and over to the ship, you wonder if your comms could penetrate the mountain. You decide to give it a shot - they'll be recorded on the blackbox, so someone will hear them, eventually...

Pressing your finger to the button on your helmet, you speak:

"This is Jackal-121. Repeat, this is Jackal-121. Does anyone copy?"

You get nothing but static. This is the SOS band, which always has at least a dumb AI watching it, so you should have received an automated response - nothing.

The ship, however, isn't so deaf. Lines across it light up, and one of the hatches opens! A ladder also extends to the ground. How... convenient. Um.

>>
>>1347052
Im just saying how such things are not real. There are no aliens, and no super soldiers.
>>
Well, this isn't suspicious at all. You decide that this can either get you killed by robots, saved by the UNSC, or into another fight. Two out of three ain't bad, so in you go. The ladder seems to be spaced for giants, but you manage to get up it with some reaching and jetpack boosts. You clamber inside, and are confronted with...

Ugh. The gravity just shifted. You're held against the sloped floor at about .8G, if your guess is right. You turn one way, and a door slams shut. A line of light shines on the wall, leading away to your right. You turn towards the exit door...

Which also slams shut. Maybe this wasn't the best idea.

With no other options, you follow the line. Doors slam shut to "help" guide you along the line's path. Its brilliant orange glow makes you think of breakfast, orange juice to be specific, and you realize how hungry and thirsty you are. Maybe you should grab a snack when you aren't on a massive alien ship.

You come to a bare room. The robot is docked in one corner, but its eye tracks you across the room. A monolithic pillar emerges from the floor, and carries over into the ceiling. A pad flashes on it, about the size of your chest. A handprint outline flashes on it.

You grip your weapon tightly, at your side. Casting furtive glances at the robot in the corner, you step forward and place your hand in the outline.

Blue light washes over you, and you feel a tingling sensation. It goes still, and a glyph appears on the screen.

A screeching from your comm makes you desperately paw at the mute button. After a few seconds, that glyph flickers out and a new one takes its place.

"Er... hello, Mendicant. What is it that you need help with?"

The icon flashes for a moment, before the voice rumbles again:

+This Dreadnought model has lost 97% of its mass. The nearby facility's mass may allow the creation of an improvised ship to reattain orbit. However, a hostile life-form is present within the base. Scanners indicate a member of the False Claimants. In addition, a hostile AI guards the base's systems, and I have lost all but one of my Sentinels to its defenses. A biological is much more difficult to detect, and the AI cannot impair your functions beyond physical destruction. I need your assistance to deactivate the AI, or remove the organism it is guarding. I have accessed your primitive battleskin, and uploaded a map of the facility as far as I have explored it. Will you assist?+

Man, the boys at R&D really out did themselves. could probably make the AI sound less religious by that's cool.
>>
You think for a moment, then nod.

"Yeah, I'll help you out. Just point me in the right direction."

+Very good, Reclaimer,+ Mendicant says, with total monotone. +This Aggressor will lead as far as it is safe to do so.+

The machine - a Sentinel, apparently - hums to life and floats out of the door, at considerably reduced speed. You follow, the doors that shut on your way here still closed. Hopping out of the door, and using your jetpack to descend safely, you keep following the Sentinel, back into the corridor. It leads you back to the holding cell, then flashes.

+Down the indicated hallway lays the AI's main core, Reclaimer.+

Mendicant's voice in your ear makes you jump.

+Destroy or disable the main core, and all defenses will be disabled. Be forewarned, the AI's defenses are powerful. This Sentinel cannot provide assistance from this point forward.+

The Sentinel turns and jets off back towards the Dreadnought. You take a deep breath, raise your weapon, and head down the hall. A door, shut and locked, eventually blocks your path. There's some unreadable text above it. You have a thought. "Mendicant, can you translate?"

+Easily, Reclaimer,+ comes the response. After a second, the text shifts - it now reads "Main Core."

+All future text should be translated via your battleskin's systems,+ says Mendicant.

The door doesn't budge as you approach. The panel next to it is online, however.
