Yushiro rushes eagerly ahead the two of you directly to the guards.
As soon as he's out of hearing range you turn your attention to Yoruichi and ask the obvious.

''So... I take it you don't like your little brother very much.''

''It doesn't take a genius to figure that out...''

''Any particular reason for that?''

''Other than the fact that I have more testosterone than him?
Heck, even you mistook him for a girl and nobody's blaming you.
He's always been a crybaby. A pathetic excuse for a man who's still probably stuck under mothers skirt...
It's so bad in fact that he was the only reason I even hesitated for going rogue... Didn't want to leave father alone with Yushiro...
And now? He's the head of the family...
Christ it's even worse when I say it out loud.''

''It's... not all bad.
I mean. He was given the title wasn't he?
Or is it hereditary?''

''The eldest child is always made the head when their time comes.
That's why I was originally in line for the position despite being a woman.
Granted, the houses always make damn sure that the heir is as powerful as they can be...
But come on! Look at him!
He's a milquetoast through and through!
Once when I was still around he stubbed his toe on the dining room table and cried for 30 minutes straight!''

''And of course you were full of spunk and...
Hey... do you think that was all intentional?
Your parents didn't get their daughter the first time so they raised him as a surrogate?
I mean, could it have been intentional for them to raise both of you in such a backwards manner?''

''Huh...
I... never thought about it that way.
I guess it makes sense... raising a boy as a girl after raising a girl as a boy.''

You shrug.
''It's just a guess though.''

''Damn it... now I can't shake that thought...''

''Come on.''
You signal her to follow you.
''They're waiting for us.''

As you make your way to the front door the guards are already letting Yushiro go in.

''Welcome Master Shihoin!
The Head Captain is waiting for you.
This way!''

Yoruichi looks at you after this.
''I still can't believe father sent him...
I get what he's trying to do but he should have known better.
Leaving such a matter to Yushiro...''

''Don't worry about it.
It's just a formality. Isn't it?''

''It's more than that.
Since I'm here the Head Captain probably requested fathers help for added security.
Understand that a hollow being here is nothing short of sacrilege.
But having one of the heads of a great noble house around will at least keep the Central 46 from going ballistic.''

You slowly but surely approach the front gate and as you're about to enter you notice something.
One of the guards is the shinigami you've managed to scare the crap out of the last time you were here, busting out Marr.
His colleague extends his arm and stops you while he avoids eye contact.

''HALT!
Your weapon. Drop it!'''

>>
You untie Basilisco from your belt and set it down right next to the door, standing upright.
It pains you to leave it behind but you decided that now's not the time to cause trouble.
However you want to make sure that the shinigami don't get any ideas, just in case.

Still hunched forward you look up at the shinigami and give him a vicious grin.
''Word of advice.
Don't you dare touch my sword!
It gets hungry whenever I'm not around.''

The shinigami looks at your sword in confusion and backs away a bit from it.
But he quickly gets back his courage and smirks back at you.
''Oh... funny...''
He leans in closer to your sword.

However his mate is quick to shout at him.
''DON'T!
HE'S NOT LYING!''

Sometimes instilling frankly absurd amounts of fear into someone so they become irrational has its benefits it seems.
And now that you guaranteed the safety of your weapon you walk forward with a bit less fear in your heart.
After the guards close the door behind you Yoruichi gives you a quizzical look.

''That was a lie, right?''

''Oh most definitely.
But it's true that it eats reiatsu so it might drain the poor sucker if he touches it.
I just didn't like leaving it there.''

''Makes sense.
A shinigami would feel the same way.
But I'm glad you can see reason.''

''All I'm wondering about now if this Commander of yours practices what he preaches.''

''You'd be surprised.''

Not feeling like responding you leave it at that and take off your boots now that you've reached the building proper.
And as you slide open the door you see a small table in the middle of a rather spacious room with Yushiro sitting before it.
To your surprise he doesn't immediately burst out in joy after seeing Yoruichi but it's pretty obvious that he has to try really hard to do so.

You make your way there and try to sit down next to Yushiros right side so the siblings can sit next to each other but he quickly stops you.
''Erm... the Commander requested you sit in the middle...''

You get what the idea is but you don't like it.
It's clear that the captains intends on having an arm on both side so that if you try anything they could easily stop you.
None the less you comply, not feeling the desire to start any shit before the man himself even shows up.

''Easy there big guy.''
Yoruichi tries to calm you down as soon as she sees you frown and sits down next to you.

Then... the door on the other end of the room slides open.

To your surprise an old man who you'd only call grizzled if you wanted to compliment him slowly walks into the room.
His slow movement, the slightly hunched posture, the white beard and all the wrinkles make him look quite old to say the least.
The only thing missing from the picture is a walking cane and you'd just assume that somebody's grandpa just escaped from the retirement home and cluelessly shambled in the room out of accident.

But your doubts quickly disappears as he addresses you almost immediately.
''Excuse me for the wait.
Legs aren't as quick as they used to be.''

''It's good to see your sense of humor hasn't changed a bit Genryusai-sensei!''

''Likewise Lady Shihoin.
Seeing you reminds me of the grave loss Soul Society suffered the day you left it.''
He turns his attention to Yushiro.
''I also humbly welcome you Lord Shihoin.
And I thank you for your assistance with this... delicate matter.''

''T-t-t-the pleasure is mine Yamamoto-sama!''

The old man slowly walks up to the table and sits down on the side opposite from you.
And only now do you notice the silver haired man with the handlebar moustache behind him.
No doubt he's the lieutenant of the old man.

Speaking of whom, he slowly starts sizing you up as he slowly but surely opens his eyes a bit wider.
''And... of course.
Kaizar Soize... I welcome you to my home.
I also thank you for answering to my calls.''

''Hmmm... You're welcome.
But I'm afraid you have me at a disadvantage here.
You have my name but I didn't catch yours.''

''I'm Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni, Captain of the First Division and Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13.
Now I'm aware you're no doubt confused about my summons and the presence of Lady and Lord Shihoin but all will be clear in due time.
First, I ask you this: what kind of tea do you prefer?''

''Black.''

He looks up at his lieutenant.
''Sasakibe...''

''Understood Eijisai-dono.''
You're not sure what the deal with that man but the second you said ''Black'' his pupil-less eyes almost let out a spark.

''Just one.
Because it's been bugging me.
I heard the only reason Yoruichi and her brother are here because it appeases Central.
Am I correct in assuming you appreciate them just as I did my own higher-ups?''

Yamamoto frowns at that.
''Don't get ahead of yourself now Arrancar.
You're treading on dangerous ground...''

He sounds... agitated.
For all the flare he's still a man, nay a soldier stuck with leaders so far stuck up their own asses they risk knocking their own teeth out.
It probably does irritate him but he must follow their orders.

You pause for a moment as your tea arrives.
After thanking the shinigami you take just a sip of the stuff.
Shinigami food still doesn't sit too well with you but the quality of the brew is so good that it mitigates the side effects.

Trying not to scald yourself you lower the cup as you speak.
''That's all I had to hear.
Please, forget I said anything.''

''Hmmm...
Then I'll get to the point.''
He also takes a sip of his green tea before resuming.
''I'm aware of the offer you made to Jushiro.''

''Oh... he told you.
Then that's what this is all about.''

''Of course.
Outside his family only two people know of his condition and I'm one of them.
He's been my pupil even before he graduated from the academy.
I'm proud of him and all of his accomplishments.
In a way I treat him like he was my own son, my pride and joy.
So when he told us about his meeting with you we were rather taken back.''

''We?''

''You don't need to concern yourself with that...
Suffice to say I didn't make much of it at first.
But after seeing Ukitake being so conflicted about it I started to worry.
And now? Now he made the choice.
He wants to accept.''

You cock an eyebrow at that.
''Does he now?
I was under the impression he's a grown man and can tell me that himself.''

In the instant you said that you felt a shift in the air around you.
Suddenly your surroundings feel... dry. Your throat feels coarse despite drinking but a moment ago.
You look at the old man and feel the subtle change in his reiatsu, the source of this alteration.
Just by being exposed to such a miniscule amount of the stuff it became clear that you're not dealing with a mere shinigami here.
He's a monster.
>>

The unnatural reiatsu disappears almost as quickly as it appeared and Yamamoto speaks up.

''You don't seem to realize just how much weight your actions have.
To you this is a simple matter of doing something to a man but it's more than that.
This will be the first real interaction between shinigami and hollow that doesn't involve killing.
Everybody is watching everything you do, just waiting for a reason to start a war.
For now you have enough people in support of peace but how long will that last?
All it takes is one mistake from either party for all hell to break loose.''

''So...
You're saying if I mess this up we let slip the dogs of war.
That's not news. I'm fully aware.
It's just that I have no intentions of letting that happen.
I offered my assistance to Jushiro because I'm confident in my ability.''

''Then... let me be clearer.
If anything happens to Jushiro, even by accident, I won't rest until I eradicate every single atom of yours from this world.
So...
To sum it up... Jushiro is about to throw away the one thing that kept him alive through all those years.
He'll abandon his religion, betray his family and endanger his health.
And should anything happen we'll have a full scale war on our hands.

''Wait...
You don't mean...''

''I'm saying that perhaps not doing anything is the best choice in this situation.
Too much hinges on this.
Give up. Tell Ukitake that the deal is off and walk away.
It's best to leave well enough alone.''

''So that's it huh...
You're just afraid.''

''Watch your tongue...''
He warns you.

''No... I'd rather not.
I'm a man of my word.
I said I'll do it and if the shinigami have a problem with that?
Then tough titties.''

At this the man behind the Captain Commander raises his voice.
''How dare you speak to Captain Yamamoto in such a tone?!''

''Easily!''
You stand up and look the commander in the eye.
''I won't let your boy die. You have my word.''

''Heh...''
The Captain Commander just let out a smile and that scared you more than anything he did before.
''Perhaps I was wrong in berating Jushiro for trusting you...''

There is a deathly stillness in the room where nobody says even a word.
But eventually Yoruichi snaps back into reality and finally speaks up.
''Okay. I've lost the thread.
Are we really talking about Jushiro here?
Doesn't he just have tuberculosis?''

You smile at that.
''It's a bit complicated.
But you don't have to get it.''
Then you fasten your belt and start walking towards the front door.
''So... if I understood correctly then Ukitake agreed. Yes?''
Yamamoto nods.
''That's all I had to hear.
I'll take my leave then.
Also, do yourself a favor and put some champagne in the fridge because by the time dinner comes Ukitake will be better than ever before.''

''HOLD ON A MINUTE!''
The Captain-Commander shouts after you.
''There is but one thing I failed to mention.
I'm aware that you know the exact details about Ukitake.''

''That's right.''

''Then... I must warn you. For your sake this time.
How you'll handle... that thing.
Others will be watching you with eyes peeled.
If you make a mistake then I'm afraid not even I'll be able to stop the chain of events that will follow.''

''Heh...
Don't start assuming things shinigami.
If you knew me, you'd already know that I don't care about such things.
I'll deal with that when that happens.''

''I was afraid you might say something like that.
Then... by all means. Be my guest.''

You don't look at the shinigami again as you're busy putting your boots back on.
After leaving through the front door you pick up Basilisco and subsequently scare the living hell out of the guards.
>>
After you left so abruptly Yoruichi tried her best to apologize to the Captain-Commander before following you outside.

''Jeez, don't you have any manners?!''

''Sorry but I got a bit agitated.
I think the sooner I deal with the Ukitake problem the better.''

''So... you're really doing this?''

''That's the plan.''

She sighs.
''Fine. Go ahead.
Take the carriage, I imagine many people would flip their shit if they saw you prancing around the Seireitei.''

''You sure?
What about you?''

''I'll ask Yushiro for a ride.
He's already carrying a buttload of relics, I won't even put a dent on him.''

''Thanks Yoruichi.''

''No problem.
I'm not interested in that business with Ukitake anyway.
You have fun, and don't get yourself killed.''

''What? Afraid you'll lose your access to Neliel?''

She lets out a coy smile.
''Remember, it wasn't me who said it!''

Following that you hop on the top of the carriage rather than entering it and speak to the ones carrying it.
''Hey! Could you take me to the 13th Division grounds?''

''Pffft! Piss off Arrancar!
You ain't goin' anywhere!''

''Oh and could you send a message to Captain Ukitake?
Or should I go back and complain to the Commander that you jackasses didn't do as you were told?''

At first it looked like they were going to complain but then after a quick look at the Squad 1 guards they swiftly change their minds.
Probably the guards warned them that it's not wise resisting you.
So in the end they grab hold of the rods that hold the whole thing and start carrying you through the Seireitei.
As you're lead through the various Division grounds you finally see just how much stronger the average Squad 1 member is than the rest.

But in one moment as you're taking in the sight of the Seireitei you notice something.
The entire world around you begins to crawl to a halt and all color begins to get drained from the world until everything is in a twisted monochrome state.
This is not the first time this has happened either.

''What is it Hogyoku?''
You ask the enigmatic force that's responsible for this.

''Forgive me Master for intruding like such...
But I have something important to say.''

''Yeah, no problem.
I kinda wanted to speak with you as well.
Also, you got better at speaking since last time.''

''Yes. Direct communication was new to me back then.
It's difficult but I'm managing.''
The voice echoes through the aether, filling everything and reflecting off of everything, creating a sort of choir like sound.
''What you're about to do is... difficult.''

''That's obvious.
Do you think you can handle that... thing?
Last time it didn't seem to be phased by your time freeze.''

''That won't be an issue.
Last time it got me by surprise, now that won't happen.
But it still won't be easy.
Before you do anything to the shinigami you'll have to get rid of that thing.''

''Hmmm... I thought so.
Any ideas?''

''A... few.''

''Go on.''
>>
Maybe we can convince it to let us heal Ukitake, wouldn't want to force evict it, that would be pretty rude. It could probably stay inside Ukitake afterwards?
>>
>>1345347

''I can assist you however you wish.
If granted full access I can make disposing of the Mimihagi childs play.''

''But then... why is it difficult?''

''Capturing it won't be the problem.
What you do after is.''

''Why?''

''Because the shinigami spoke the truth.
I didn't sense any lies from him.
And if someone is observing us then not even I am capable of detecting them.
If that's the case then they are surely a force to be reckoned with.''

''Any ideas?''

''No.
My knowledge is not limitless.
However, judging by the Commanders sentence I'm capable of deducing a possibility.
It's very likely that this party won't like our interference with a divine being.
So... once you have your hands on the Mimihagi, be careful of what you do with it.''

''What are my options?''

''It's fairly straightforward actually.
You can simply let it go so the fragment returns to the large whole.
Alternatively you can destroy it. A small piece like that won't be too resilient.
Or... If you absolutely want to get rid of it forever... you can devour it.''

''And why would I do that?''

''Even if the fragment is destroyed it won't do much to the Mimihagi itself.
Over time the energy will make its way back and it'll reform.
But if consumed then not only would you gain some substantial amounts of power, which you'll need in the future due to the Quincy, but it'd be effectively assimilated and therefore you could do some permanent damage to a god...''

You pause for a moment.
''I don't like it...''

''You don't have to.
It might be necessary for the sake of the future.''

You shake your head.
''Either way... I'll deal with that when it happens.''

''Very well Master.
Now then... Do you want my assistance?''

''Can I even do it without you?''

''Of course.
It may be difficult but it's certainly possible.''

Keep your cards close to your chest as they say.

Also I must warn people about eating the fragment of a god, yes we get the power boost but A. the Soul king's guards won't like that we literally ate part of him, B. the rest of his fragments won't like that we ate part of him, and C. The age old rule of 'I will not eat a power source bigger than my head'.

On the other hand, if you'll excuse my pun, the other hand of the fucker is already on the quincy's side, so we might have to consider eating this one for the power boost.

It really shows how fucked up the afterlife is that eating a god is a serious choice you have to make in order to not get killed /again/.

''I don't want to go overboard.

''...
Very well Master.
Your wish is my command.''

''Now then.
Undo this and let's get this over with.''

''As you wish.''

Slowly color begins to return to the world and everything proceeds as normal with the shinigami around you not having a clue anything even happened.
And yet, you wonder if your mysterious observers were also affected.

The way to the 13th division was pretty uneventful after that.
You even ran the risk of falling asleep once or twice.
But at least you're here and somebody was sent out to greet you.

A rather odd looking shinigami with a white headband and goatee greets you as you jump off of your carriage.
''W-W-W-Welcome...
T-t-the captain is waiting for you!''

The nervous man leads you to Ukitakes personal chambers where the man himself is laying in his bed with Isanes sister taking care of him.
He's coughing profusely to the point where blood is coming up from his throat, you assume because it can't come from his lungs.
After he notices you however he waves off the girl next to him.

''K-kyone-''
*cough, cough*
''Please... move.''

She looks back over her shoulder and notices you.
In a hurry she stands up and begins apologizing to you.
After she shuffles to the side you enter the building and she goes next to the guy with the goatee.

''T-thank the Reio you're here...''

''Not gonna lie, you look like shit.
I assume this is what pushed you past your breaking point.''

''Y-yeah...
Please-''
*cough*
''Help me!''

''Very well.''
You look back at the entrance and at the two shinigami stationed there.
''You two! Close the doors!
Don't let anyone in!''

''W-Who do you think you are?!''
The girl erupts.
''You can't just come here and-''

''Kyone... please... do as he says.''

''C-Captain?''
She looks at the suffering Jushiro and pauses.
''Understood.''

The man next to him is rather surprised by this.
''K-Kyone?! The heck?!''

''Just do as he said you huge ass!''
She starts pulling on the mans ear and he complies.

After the building is closed off you crack your knuckles and look at Ukitake.
''Allright, let's do this!''

You don't waste too much time and draw Basilisco.
Ukitake looks a bit puzzled at this.

''I-is that... necessary?''

''Very.
Now Captain, try and get some rest.
I promise when you wake up you'll breathe a lot easier.''
You begin channeling energy.
''Mend and Maim! Basilisco!''

As your sword dissolves and the produced mucus hardens around you to reveal your true form Ukitake looks at it in a bit of wonderment.
''W-Wow...
I've... never seen-''
But before he could finish his sentence you swipe your hand before his face and his eyes close.

Realizing what you've just did you take a step back and unbutton your shirt, revealing the pulsating Hogyoku within.
The rock has apparently created small bridges leading from your hole to your body in the shape of an inverted cross and it's now rhythmically pulsing with every heartbeat of yours.
This feeling is nothing short of exhilarating as you feel a strange power filling your veins.

''D-did you just-''

''I did nothing Master.
You sought to alleviate his pain and you did.
Even I was a bit taken back by the ease with which you wielded my power.''

''...
I'm... not even going to question that.
Tell me, what's the status of the god in him?''

''It's... not dormant.
Very much active. And yet...
It shows no signs of escaping.
Too scared.''

You crack your neck.
''Okay then.
At least this'll be easy.''

After finishing your sentence you extend both arms to the side and begin collecting rather alarming amounts of thick slime which you then begin filling to the brim with the energy the Hogyoku is pumping into your system.
The thick, viscous liquid begins to emit a captivatingly purple luminescence.
Your idea is that with this you can not only put the captain in a state of suspended animation but also trap the creature in him.

Extending your arm you release your hold over the liquid and notice that something's off.
It doesn't flow like you expected it to, instead of simply falling down it creeps around in the air in chaotic patterns, as if it was a living creature made of barely tangible energy and one that doesn't care about the rules and laws of nature.
But it doesn't matter as it still does what you wanted it to, it covered Ukitake almost completely.

As the sap begins to seep into every pore of the shinigami with a gesture of your hand and a stray thought you will your life preserving cocoon to start floating before you.
Without wasting any time you plunge your hand in there and at first it almost feels and looks like your hand was becoming one with the thick substance before you.
But paying little attention to that you will the mucus to start converging around Ukitakes lungs.

The Mimihagi doesn't like that.

Soon dark droplets begin to bubble up from the confines of Jushiros body as the Mimihagi is desperately trying to run away from the hollow energies that your thick slime is carrying within itself.
The moment you spot the with outlines of the eye you plunge your hand deep into Ukitakes body, not caring about damaging him at all.
With a firm hold on the wriggling mass of blackness you forcibly tear the thing out and draw some of the captains blood with it.

As the thing in your hand lets out a sharp screech you order some the Einherjar to temporarily assume the role of any missing or damaged tissue while the others are busy rejuvenating the shinigami, cell by cell.

But now that it's certain that the Captain will recover you have time to look at the amorphous blob in your hand as it cries.
''Is this God?''
You speak in a reverberating voice.

''Correct Master.
Or... a piece of it.''

''How... pathetic.
It's even less impressive than I imagined.
Tell me Hogyoku, do our cells cry if they are removed from our body?''

''No.
Cells do not possess cognitive functionality.''

''And this thing is supposed to lord over us?
Ridiculous...''

As you look deep into its sorry eye you start recalling the words of the Hogyoku.
''Kill it, eat it or set it free''

You let out a soft chuckle as you entertain the thought of squashing this thing like a bug.
After all this is the first real chance you got to have some revenge on the entity you've dedicated your existence to defying.
Tempting.

But at the same time your rationality hasn't left you entirely.
You know that you REALLY shouldn't do this.

''Tell me God...
Do you even comprehend the situation you're in?
Can you see reason? Do you even have a mind?
If so then tell me would you stay with Ukitake? And would you hurt him if I allowed you to remain?''

The little thing doesn't even seem to react to anything you've just said and it keeps squirming around.

''Master.
I believe this fragment is incapable of any brain activity higher than the bare minimum.
Judging by its movements and behavior it operates more on instinct than anything else.''

''Then this is no more than an animal...
Very well, I'll speak to it in a way it can understand!''
You lean in closer and open your jaws to reveal your fangs to it.
Their glint causes an instantaneous reaction as it tries to get away from the potential source of danger.

''Remember well!
If I so chose you'd have become my appetizer!
Now...''
You tighten your grip around the thing, pull your fist back and toss him straight out the open window.
''GET LOST!''

After dusting off your palms you hear the Hogyokus voice once more.

''An exceptional performance Master.''

''Stop brown nosing.''

''As you wish.''

''Okay... How's the Captain doing?''

''Life signs are stable.
His new organ is growing steadily.''

''How much until it's done?''

''At this rate, only exactly 8 minutes 42.3 seconds.''

''...
Okay then.''

After hearing about the absurdly accurate time estimation of the Hogyoku you decided to sit down into one corner and passed the time by making a yoyo out of mucus and trying to do tricks with it, sadly with little success.
But at least those 8 minutes passed rather quickly and when it did you immediately regretted not ordering the Hogyoku to make a loud ''Ding'' noise when the time was up.

As you leaned closer to Ukitake you started withdrawing the frankly absurd amounts of mucus from around his body.
His eyes started twitching immediately.

''Ugh... w-where am I?''

''Had a bad dream?''
You ask him.

''K-Kaizar?!
Then... it wasn't a dream.''

''I'm afraid not.''
You extend an arm to him and help him sit up.
''Welcome amongst the living.
Take a deep breath, give your new lungs a test drive.''

He closes his eyes and slowly inhales.
His eyes snap open.
''It... doesn't hurt!''
He touches his own chest.
''And you're sure this won't have any side effects?''

''Absolutely.
I made sure it doesn't.''

''W-Where is Mimihagi-sama?''

''I sent it away.
It had no place here anymore.''

''I see.''
He looks up at you and sees the Hogyoku for a moment.
''Uh... what's that?''

Instinctively you cover it up.
''Nothing.
Now... try to take it easy, you still need the rest.
I'll call your subordinates in.''

''Thank you.
Truly.''

''You're welcome.''
As you turn around you look down at the orb in your chest and whisper to it.
''Crumble!''
And just like that the pathways bridging the gap between your body and the Hogyoku itself start turning into nothing, causing the orb to float in the middle once again.

As you button up your shirt you slide the door open and see the two shinigami sitting under and at the railing before the building.
''You two!
It's done. Your captain should be fine now.''

''R-REALLY?!''

''Yes. But he'll need some extra attention for a while.
And if you see anything irregular you take him to the Fourth Division immediately!
Understood?''

''Y-YES SIR!''
They both salute you.

''Dismissed!''

They look at each other in confusion as you walk away, as if suddenly realizing what just happened.
Not paying any attention to that you jump up to the roof of the tallest tower around just to see if anything is about to happen.
Curiously you ask the Hogyoku.

''Do you see anything?''

''I see approximately everything in a five mile radius with absolute clarity.''

''I meant if you see any hostiles approaching!
Are we in any danger? Or... did we manage to do it right?''

''Processing...
No. I'm not detecting any dimensional interference.''

''Dimensional what?!''

''Interference.
If what the shinigami said is true then those observing our actions must do it from a realm parallel or close to this one, otherwise I'd be able to detect them.
As a safety measure I scanned Hueco Mundo as well.''

''So... we're in the clear?''

''It appears so.
Is there anything else you wanted to do Master?
Or shall we return back home? I'm getting tired of this dreary place.''

Finished with the thing you wanted to do and confident in your work, you opened up the Garganta and returned home.
You felt strangely tired after all that and ravenous the next morning, perhaps due to the activation of the Hogyoku.
But that matters little when all things are considered.

For the following one month nothing of great importance has happened and so time went by swiftly.
During this period you spent most of your time preparing for the upcoming event, Tia giving birth.
For a while now you've felt a nagging feeling in the back of your head, urging you to panic and prepare at the same time.
But now with the deadline approaching rapidly you've embraced your old virtues of working yourself to the bone.
However it had its uses, most importantly the fact that you've pretty much done everything needed for both the babies room and making the house safe for a child.

Your initial excitement only grew larger after you've seen the first and only scan that was made of your child.
Since Yata insisted on taking a closer look at it you had no choice but to comply.
To give him credit he was kind enough not to reveal its gender since you want it to be a surprise but he did show you something else...

A thin, circular membrane of sorts could be seen on the images from every angle.
At first Yata assumed it must be a graphical error or some other kind of glitch in the machine but after retrying the scan several times he concluded that the baby is indeed enveloped or at least surrounded by something.
Left a bit confused and rather worried you both decided that it's best not stressing over it.

But then...
It happened.
On one day like any other Tia started complaining about aches.
Soon afterwards you realized that she entered labor.

It was a fucking disaster.
Everyone be it friend or family simultaneously lost their shits.
And things didn't calm down only way after you entered the lab.

After everything was said and done Harribel was taken inside and Yata gave you a curious look.
''Youuuu sure you wanna come?''

''HOW CAN YOU ASK SUCH A THING?!
OF COURSE I'M COMING!''

''Ooookay.
But if you can't handle the sight I'll fuckin' let you collapse on the floor.''

''Psh... as if!''
Confidently you strolled in the operation room and to your credit you lasted a while.

That is... until Yata brought out the needle and jammed it into Harribels spine to ease her pain.
In that exact moment you simply fainted.
Strangely enough Yata didn't actually stopped Hao from dragging your unconscious self out of the operating room.

You're not sure how long it took you to regain consciousness but it doesn't really matter.
All you're sure is that there is a gentle breeze coming to you from somewhere.
Blinking a few times in order to help your vision clear up you catch a glimpse of Hao with a large palm leaf in his hand.

''Ah! You've woken up young master!
I hope the chairs are to your liking!''

''Ugh... w-where am I?''

''In the waiting room.
You blacked out.''

''The... waiting... room?''
You spring up as soon as you realize what's going on.
''W-WHERE IS SHE?! WHERE'S TIA?''

''Calm down Master Kaizar.
She's fine.
Everything went well.''

You place a hand on your chest and feel your heart trying to burst out of your chest, it's beating so fast.
After a few deep breaths you calm down your nerves.
''Tell me where...''

''Right this way.''

Hao leads you back to the room that appears to be remarkably clean, all things considered.
But that's not what really concerns you right now.
Seeing Tia just sitting there calmly is the only thing you care about right now.

You rush to her, practically tossing anything aside that might get in your way.
Once you're above her you kiss her anywhere you can.
''I was so worried!
A-Are you alright?''

She just smiles at you.
''I'm a bit numb the waist down but yes.
More importantly...
Look.''
She raises the little bundle of cloth in her hand that you somehow completely managed to overlook up until now.

You can feel pressure building up in your throat, enough to give you a feeling of suffocation.
A girl. A beautiful, healthy baby girl is resting in Tias hands.
Her complexion is a mix between yours and hers. Her eyes, like her hair are golden.
And most interestingly there is a small mask fragment on the very top of her forehead.
It's soft to the touch, almost translucent and it almost looks like a small 3 pronged, segmented tiara.

Taking just a glance at her was enough to captivate you completely.
You lean in close to it and kiss her on her forehead. She doesn't appear to be startled by your appearance, if anything it appears to have calmed her down.

''Guess what Dear?
That thing we saw on the scans? Little wings.
Six cute little wings overlapping with each other, forming an egg.''

You look at Yata in confusion.
''She's in her resurrección?!''
You whisper as softly as you can.

''Yes. She's a pure arrancar, through and through.
I suspect she can't even seal herself right now.''

As Yata finishes his sentence Tia lets out a chuckle.
''Look at her!
She's looking all around!
You're a curious one! I'm mommy! Mommy!''
She raises her closer to you.
''And that's daddy!''

From under the cloth she reaches out and seemingly tries to reach your gills.
You can't help but smile and lean in closer so she can reach it.
As she touches your mask Tia speaks up.

''What should we name her?''

''How about Sofia?''

Tia looks at the little one.
''Sofia huh?
That's a pretty name.
Where did that come from?''

''Nowhere really.''
You reach forward and start caressing her cheeks with your index finger.
''How about it Sofia?
Do you like your name?''

Sofias mouths curls downward and she begins to get visibly upset.
''Oh. Look at that!
She doesn't like it!''
Tia finds enjoyment even in this situation and she starts rocking the little girl to calm her down.
She only lets out a half muffled cry before she returns to normal.

However as this scene is unfolding and you're sitting next to Tia taking in the sight of your newborn child Yata slowly shuffles out the door and urges Hao to do the same.
As they leave he turns to the artificial human.
''I told you!
Birth is one of the most disgusting things and yet...
People are simply captivated by it.''

''I see sensei.
I learned much from this.''

''No you didn't...''

''Well... maybe.
But in any case I found it very enjoyable.''

''Well, you do you Hao.
You do you. Keep the lab safe while I'm gone, okay?''

''Will do Doctor!
Oh and please don't forget your umbrella!''

''HAH! That's a good one!
Umbrella!''
Yata opens the front door and steps out through it.
''As if it ever... Huh?!''
Yata looks up as he feels something falling on his head.
He extends his open palm and feels a bit shocked when something lands in it.
Nervously he looks up and sees the typically clear sky being covered almost entirely in clouds.

''What the-''
He tries to speak up but his sentence is cut short by the pedestrians down below.

''LOOK! IT'S RAINING!''

''I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!''

''IT'S A MIRACLE!''

But while the masses feel an abundance of joy over this all Yata feels is fear.
Fear of the unknown.
