Horizon's Drop shown like a blue-green jewel bathed in the light of the red star. Space traffic made it's outline hazy from a distance but as the world rotated slender pillars reaching up from the planets surface were illuminated by the suns rays. Orbital platforms were dragged along by the rotational pull of the planet by the cables of the space elevators secured to the equators by anchors the size of small cities.

Four Fingers of the Wormstar claw at the planet, further securing it as your homeworld and capital of the New Necrotic Armada. Carriages slide up and down the cables of sinew and metal, full of metal and biomass cargo to transport to and from the orbital platforms that toil with industry far from the planets surface where their pollution couldn't taint the planet. No longer having to brave reentry and waste valuable fuel on Coffins and Carriers transporting resources and troops they merely have to dock at the city sized platforms. Bristling with anti-ship weaponry there was a smaller version of the anti-orbital Lances stationed in each platform that buzzed with ships.

Yet it was not only Horizon's Drop that reached out into the cold vacuum. Bastion, the home of the Lavafather and the Stonestar, danced around the supermassive gas giant while four more Wormstar Fingers thrust through the perpetual storms that shrouded the volcanic planetoid to reach out to the platforms orbiting it. Armadan and Obsidianborn ships flocked around the shared platforms, the elevators a great boon in traversing the still dangerous storms that threatened all but the largest of starships that passed through the atmosphere.

Even Rukor, the gleaming gem of the Bastion system sported a solitary Finger reaching up from the oceans depths into the void. The pillar of gleaming metal and bone was like a beacon to the ructu that could see it splitting the sky. Messages passed along their trade-routes let them know to use it as a landmark to guide them toward the latest addition to their world.

Rising up from the oceans was an island that had been reshaped and reconstructed into grand new city of the Armada. Great walls of gleaming pale bone rose up from the jungles and beaches, towers of dark metal and chitin rising up over the calm waters. Great piers stretched out like a web from the beaches, many already full to the brim with ructu ships that had traveled many leagues to gather there that day with many more circling the island or approaching with the strong winds. Under the crystal clear waters and the gentle waves the ructu could see glass domes and tunnels winding through the colorful reefs that surrounded the island. Drakes and Devils circled the island, flocks of gargoyles a persistent sight as they swooped down to inspect the new arrivals and perch on their ship masts, the crew members giving cheers at the sign of good luck.

Vyi'a'Rthun, the Isle of Salvation, has finally been completed. The people of Rukor gather, excitedly awaiting your arrival.

Unlocked:
>Empathic Scanning: By using psionic sensors adapted from the mental recording and dreamstone technology a passive scan of a living beings emotional state is now possible. Individuals are easier to determine their emotional state with accuracy dropping as more subjects are present. The scanning can be used to gauge the general emotional state of large crowds with a wide margin of error while selectively targeting individuals or groups. The sensors can be hidden inside the walls of buildings or ships for large scale passive scanning or as a mobile device that relies on close proximity for accuracy.

>Heavy Drop Pod: The process of landing vehicles and large reconstructed on an active battlefield has always been rather dangerous for the transport ship deploying them. The heavy drop pods are intended to help alleviate this danger. Heavily armored the heavy drop pod is indeed a large profile for anti-air defenses but each pod comes with hard-light plating to reinforce it. Once landed four automated heavy weapons will emerge to help provide cover for the deploying vehicles. Each heavy drop pod is able to ferry either 2 Battletombs or 2 Crawlers with room for a compliment of 3 Hearses and 60 normal Reconstructed troops. Cost: 150B 150M per deployment

>Domination Spire: Designed by Dominator Valresko this massive construct is less of a Drop Pod and more of a symbol of the Armada's intent with a planet. With a height of over 150meters the Spires must be transported individually by Bloat Carrier or a Battleship may carry two if modified with the proper modules. Made of reinforced metal, chitin, and bone the Spire is dropped from orbit, it's inertia dampeners firing only enough to prevent the spire from completely embedding itself too deep in the planets surface. Armored plates then fall away to unleash it's compliment of aerial Reconstructed while built in Chitin Choir statues sing the battle-hymns of the Wormstar. Capable of transporting 40 Large Reconstructed such as Devils, Drakes, or Manglers along with 100 Scourges and 100 Gargoyles. At the crown of the Spire are large visages of Reconstructed skulls designed by the Necromancers of the Armada. A Domination Spire can be equipped with a Reality Anchor Beacon at extra cost. Cost: 300B 300M per deployment

Research unlocked:
>Mental Reading: Medium - Further enhancing the empathic scanning and dreamstone technology with the goal of more accurate data gathered from a subject

Whoa whoa whoa, please tell me we haven't just given away quasiphasic technology to the Armatocere. That is not something we can afford to share with anybody especially without even getting anything in return for it.
>>
>>1325878

...anon the armatocere are the ones who gave us the reality anchor technology in the first place, and it's a joint research project, we are getting research in return
>>
>>1325878
The Think Tanks know better than to give away research for free without orders to share

They merely shared a portion of the pseudo-mathematical theory in restoring corporeality to quasiphasic materials during their joint research discussions. Nothing about the process of generating a quasiphasic field to begin with or the idea of merging two "solid" objects under the influence of the fields.

It was more of a joint breakthrough since they are constantly discussing theories on how to enhance anti-wraith technologies. They are much more concerned with making the Wraiths solid enough to shoot up with their bulletseeds

The walls of the bridge you sat in pulsed faintly with life, liquid biomass pumped through the walls of bone and muscle like a foul blood that animated the craft. Jor stood by your throne, frowning as he stepped in a puddle of ichor that was quickly drained back into the body of the bioship making the human grimace.

"I supposed that is one disadvantage of a bioship," you glance down at the slick floor of chitin plates and twitching muscle underneath, "Some of my old kin in the Armada preferred their ships to be...distasteful such as this. Said stickiness meant you could hold things better," you say with a hint of disgust and Jor let's out a chuckle.

"I think I prefer the dry and arid kind of ship," he says then falls silent as the sphere of Rukor appears on the screens when the bioship falls out of FTL. One of the Pilots set into a console of sinew and chitin zooms in, showing the world and the silver spire of the Wormstars Finger reaching from its ocean.

The Fury of the Wormstar moved toward the world of its origin, the crude but sentient mind of the bioship recognizing its former home and starts to accelerate faster with a kind of excitement. You could feel it's eagerness and you send a mental urge to sooth it and it obeys.

Jor glances up at the ceiling of the bridge where the tendons, veins and muscles all converged on a central knot of scarred flesh. Barely emerging from the cyst was your former hand, the armor of the gauntlet carved with the runes of domination.

He flexes his false hand out of habit and gives a small start when you speak, "We both sacrificed a limb to gain power for the Armada," you nod to his prosthetic, "You gave up more than I did, able to reconstruct myself a new limb within the day. I am grateful of the sacrifices you have made for me and the Armada," you remind the human.

He gives a bow and a crooked smile, "I have a feeling there will be more sacrifice involved in the future, Lord Jadyk," he lets out a laugh tinged with nervousness, "Hopefully I do not have to sacrifice anything when I join the Commander in his hunt for the Refuge mastermind."

"Indeed, I pray so as well," you say and Jor excuses himself to check in on the ructu elementals following them in a carrier, all but Vekke too afraid to accept a ride within the former Beast of Rukor. The mute ructu optioned to stay with the others though to help encourage them.

The Deep Rot sends its customary alerts and reports detailing the movements and situations of the Armada while the Fury draws closer to Rukor.

The Armatocere of Yrre-1 say their volunteers are nearly ready to depart, preparing themselves with inoculations and good-byes.

More of the Sunscale clones finish their gestation, a batch of both Scouts and Divers nearly completed with their psionically induced educations. Those Workers that had been awakened were kept in a large chamber comfortably furnishes with heated pools and freshly cloned fish and herdbeast and a variety of Armatocere fruit provided to the omnivorous reptiles. Valresko continues to keep watch over them, the undead slightly worried about the Warblood batch soon to be completed.

Disciple-led raids continued to strike at the planet of Junkyard to disrupt the undeads efforts to produce a fleet to overrun the rest of the system. The moon of Scatters was a smoldering planetoid, its great forests and farmlands reduced to charred wood and ash as the Armada purges the remaining undead that hide in the desolation to rise from the soot and attack. Scatters itself was being evacuated, Bloat Carriers and civilian freighters transporting thousands of survivors to Hearth. The self-appointed leadership of Hearth at first protested the influx of new mouths to feed and home but were quickly silenced as Carriers arrived in their city centers packed full of food gathered from the Armada and Armatocere of the Yrre system. A battlecruiser appeared in orbit over Scatters, Illuminator Tlacex's beak drawing back from his teeth in a grin as he gazed upon the world he would bring the Light of the Wormstar to.

Ruscuv continued to drink in the knowledge displayed for her by the Think Tanks, stopping to ask incredulous questions concerning your recent activities and diplomatic relations. She was at first skeptical of the Armatocere but as she learned of their significant military might she quickly warmed up to the idea of the alliance, a short message from her applauding you of the feat.

Even a message from the Disciple speaks of a possible chance to strike at the Council as rumors begin circulating of the Council potentially returning to Calera in the face of a defeat against their enemy. This same faction the Wayward Disciple could not find a proper name or description of, captured soldiers dreams and memories speaking of what they called the Synthetic enemy or foe. The Disciple says they will continue to monitor the situation and search our information of this enemy that would threaten even the Council's might.

Buddy's operation sends a report from Veraga Prime stating they were due to meet with a high ranked member of the Wraithborn Cartel to further discuss expansion after the staggering success of the Narcotikelp product moving through the drug-dens of the Confederate world. They also mention rumors that the Dauntless was once again on the move, supposedly headed for the Curou sector.

The reach of the Armada extends every day, entrenching itself on its captured and claimed worlds. There was much to be done and tend to.

Trust, but verify, especially with technology that could be used as an existential threat against us. The problem with the Armatocere is that they have done very little show their trust for us. Thus far they have done everything in their power to keep us at arms length and away from the heart of their empire while we have been giving them a relentless stream of tech that will completely revolutionize their society. While we've given them anti-necrotic drugs, anti-necrotic gene sequences, hard light shields, solar generators (which combined will give their ships the means to resist necrotic weaponry), and all 4 elements to use at their discretion, they have given us little in return and continue to hide the location of their capitol from us. We have plied them with tons of purified metal in every trade for biomass, which they can produce so easily it might as well be worthless to them, but haven't really acknowledged the tips we give them every trade.

I guess I mistrust the plants because they haven't done anywhere near as much as us to show their commitment to this relationship, and haven't given any indication that they trust us any further than they could kick us.

They havnt done as much because we have not called upon them for aid yet. They have called on us to teach us a bout energy manipulation and to help defeat an enemy fleet, as well as defend them against the wraiths when we could have left. I solid indicator of trust,if their seeming disposition towards us isnt enough, is if they have any Intel that they share with us without prompting or if we are under attack and the help us, also without prompting. A good reason they dont want us to know where their world tree is that is is probably quit literally the center of their civilization. For all we know its where the Elder Trees come from. I trust them because of their altruism towards species in need and distaste for unnecessary cruelty, though "enhanced interrogation" is fine in their books as a last resort. Eventually we seeing the World Tree will probably be the last test of trust, but until then im willing to give treebros the benefit of a doubt.

Dominator Valresko strides down the halls of the cloning facility, claws tapping against the floor as his bladed tail sways behind him. Hands clasped behind him in thought he nearly doesn't notice the Sunscale Reconstructed as he passed through a junction. The undead was standing and swaying in place but at a mental urge it shudders and resumes transporting an armful of scrolltubes from the Blackscale's ship to the Beqor.

Valresko shakes his head in disappointment and continues on his way. Inside the chamber he'd taken for himself but rarely visited except to deal with private matters such as helping design the Domination Spires he kneels and a holographic image of yourself appears before him, "Lord Jadyk, thank you for contacting me."

"Arise, Valresko. What is it that bothers you?" you question from your Throne, glancing at a small notice that the Lavafather was sending a ship as well to Rukor.

The eyeless undead stands and reclasps his hands behind his back, "I have my doubts about the project, Lord Jadyk."

"Oh? Why is that?"

"The Reconstructed Sunscale is...defective," he gives a slight shrug, "That may be due to being a prototype or the inexperience of the Blackscale or both. Nonetheless, I am uncertain of the safety of the clones."

"The Blackscale assure me they are loyal to me and the teachings of the Wormstar. They are clones, unable to utilize the elements," you say, not to discourage but out of curiosity.

"Indeed they appear to be loyal subjects and in fact speak highly of someday seeing Iti'a'Ropku or meeting you in person. I am wary of what influence the Mother and Father may exert. I believe cloning pure Sunscale may be a mistake," Valresko says, his smooth featureless face quite adequate at hiding his emotions.

"What would you suggest then, Dominator?" you inquire.

"Perhaps cloning the Blackscale themselves. They will lack the necrotic potential but they would almost assuredly be out of the reach of the Mother and Father. As for the Sunscale we have now, I am still willing to wait and continue overseeing their development. The true test of the Blackscale's reprogramming will be the Warbloods," he says and awaits your orders.

Dominator Valresko has expressed unease at the Sunscale Cloning project. How shall you address his concerns?

"As you say yourself the true test will be the warbloods. Should they also fail, perhaps simply utilizing the living clones will be enough. Although you are living proof of the potential for Reconstructed Sunscale, I would find it tiresome to oversee every reconstruction. "As you say, the Warbloods will be the real test. If their reprogramming can work on them then I would consider it a minor success in that regard. If this project can produce loyal Warboods to fight in the Legion, this whole project would have been worth it.

"As for their Reconstruction potential, you are walking proof of that potential afterall. However I would find it very tiresome to oversee every Reconstruction. I want you to aid the local Think Tanks in refining the Reconstruction for possible future mass production. Having an army of Reconstructed Sunscale would be a powerful tool against the Sunscale themselves," you say while drumming your claws on the armrest of the throne.

Valresko nods, "Very well, Lord Jadyk," he rubs his "chin" in thought for a moment, "I believe having a Harbinger on hand to meet at least a few of the clones would be beneficial to their loyalty," he says mostly to himself and already in the depths of the facility a Cauldron churns, sending liquid biomass and metal rushing through a series of complex pipes to fill a glass chamber, the metal sheathed skeleton of a Harbinger being woven together.

"I leave this in your capable hands, Valresko," you say and he salutes but before severing the connection you continue, "Your subordinate Sur-Quro is remarkably compliant with her new lot and already markedly skilled with her Solar abilities. They will make a fine Arbiter but make sure to keep watch over her. They are quite cunning and all the more dangerous with the Solar now."

"My thanks, Lord Jadyk. I planned much of the invasion of the B'Nan system with her advice. Her hatred of the Empire outshines any and all animosity, her dreams filled with their screams and blood," Valresko seems to pause then speaks up, "One last thing, Lord Jadyk. The Workers, a few have had...bad dreams," he says with a hint of wry amusement then continues, "They are fleeting but the they have in common images of mutated flesh and green scales among other colorful descriptors.

"I referenced it with the psionic database the Deep Rot has been compiling of the living in contact with the Dreamstones. Night terrors are quite common for those influenced by the Dreamstones, their deep fears coming to the surface more easily when we influence their dreams. They appear to be quite similar and began to think nothing of it when I saw that Jor himself and a handful of other Armadan citizens and Legionnaires recorded having similar dreams occurring the days prior. I'm of the opinion this may just be a coincidence or," he pauses when he sees your intense look, "Or it may be proof that the Blackscales reprogramming is working as intended."

"As I said, Valresko. Keep close watch over them. We are treading on unknown territory attempting to wrest control from the gods like this. But we do this to avenge the Wormstar," you say.

Valresko salutes, "For the Wormstar," then bids his farewell to begin work on perfecting the Reconstruction process.

Hey guys, when Valresko said ""Indeed they appear to be loyal subjects and in fact speak highly of someday seeing Iti'a'Ropku or meeting you in person." that made me think of an episode of Stargate where a characters son was brainwashed, but before they knew that he kept voicing his want to see the rest of Earth(he was in an underground facility). He had two false teeth that contained harmless airborne viruses, but if he breaks them and they come in contact with eachother they become self replicating and deadly. In summary: the clones' eagerness to meet the two most important things to our faction makes me nervous. I know they are clones and thus cant have smuggled shit, but we didnt know that that first Sunscale would autocombust either.

The skies were clear of clouds and were a deep blue broken only by the silhouettes of aerial Reconstructed and Coffins transporting visitors arriving from Horizon's Drop. The air rang with the sounds of ructu shouts and instruments as they gathered on the shores and piers and on the decks of thousands of ships. Members of the Armada citizenry were eagerly greeted by the celebratory ructu, a multitude of food and drink offered to them. Even the large osogo and osjiic visitors were swarmed by the curious crustaceans eager to meet new friends.

There was some animosity and resentment toward the epikor, kosda, and esat visitors although many had come to forgive the former Ahkam soldiers as the POWs had toiled to repair the damage their fleets had caused. Many knew they had been equally abused and tricked by the lies of the Ahkam and groups of the the open-minded ructu invited the former Ahkam soldiers to join them while ignoring the sour glares of those that had not forgiven. Groups of stonestar from Bastion and Iti'a'Ropku avoided each other with the younger generation were quickly enamored with joining the ructu celebrations.

As the sun reached the highest point in the sky there came a sound that rose above the din of the gathered thousands as the multitude of Chitin Choir statues throughout the island began to sing a powerful hymn. The crowds fall silent and look up in awe as a blot of darkness appears in the sky and slowly lowers. As the ancient hymn of glories past swells those below gasp out nearly in unison as the shadow unfurls colossal arms that seem to stretch across the sky.

The Fury of the Wormstar lets out a massive bellow that shakes the ocean waves and rattles the crystalline constructs throughout the city, ructu and visitors alike flinching at the sound that carries for miles. Hardlight plating illuminates across it's form in designs evocative of the ructus ancient geometric designs, a suggestion by Jor and helped designed by Tlacex before his deployment.

The voices of the ructu rose up in a massive cheer that swells across the island and its waters, drowning out the hymn of the hymns of the Chitin Choir. The Fury stops and floats above the tallest spire of the island, casting it in it's massive shadow as it's arms undulate slowly overhead, many of the ructu falling silent in a primal fear but they hold their ground, awaiting to see what happened.

Disembarking from the Fury you descend on your Throne with Jor floating down beside you, his armors anti-grav harness letting him keep pace. Their cheering resumed as they spotted you heading for where the crowds gathered thickest at the massive gates in the tall outer walls that would protect against the hurricanes and storms. A handful of Drakes and Devils circled around the pair of you, their shrieks filling the air alongside the cheering and hymns.

The ructu Council and nearly every Elder from each tribe and important merchant-lords stood on a large platform where your throne descended. The elemental infused ructu stood there as well with their teachers, ferried down by the Wormstar Finger before your dramatic entrance. Your Necromancers stood there as well, a Disciple and members of each elemental order present as well, many of them fresh from the battlefields of Refuge. You were pleased to see a floating chunk of volcanic glass, the Obsidianborn ambassador rotating near a handful of Stonestar chieftains decked out in armor of polished obsidian glass inlaid with precious gems and strips of gold and platinum.

Standing from your throne you approach the railing that overlooked the main plaza before the gates where ructu and members of many races stood shoulder to armbranch to wing. Somewhat amazed by the sheer size of the gathered ructu stand at the edge of the platform with Kyn'tk in hand and Jor by your side, the sounds of their cheering swelling at the sight of you.

Vyi'a'Rthun has been completed. What shall you say to the ructu and those gathered?

General things about how wondrous a sight it is that so many races are together on a world that was better then it was a week ago. How this is another step into a better future and that this sight will be mirrored on countless worlds. How proud we are of all of them and how proud they should be of themselves. Though there may still be some lingering animosity amongst them, you have bled for each other and suffered similar ills and you all will continue to work to better each other.
>>
>>1327236

Supporting this, but mention that you are glad they like Vyi'a'Rthun and how it is a symbol of the armada's strength and gratitude.

Also let Jor weigh in if he wants, speeches are kind of his jam
>>
>>1327148
With a mental command hologram projectors hidden within the parapets of the walls activate and dozens of holographic replicas of yourself are projected above the crowds drawing another collective sound of surprise. You motion for silence and slowly the crowd ceases its cheering, the Chitin Choir falling silent only to project your voice in their place speaking in the language of the ructu for their benefit, "It is a truly wondrous sight to see so many races gathered together with the common goal of hope and unity. Not long ago Rukor was being ravaged by invaders, storms and famine but today a new age dawns for Rukor and its people."

You wait for another bout of cheering to subside and continue, "I welcome you all to Vyi'a'Rthun which means Isle of Salvation in the language of the Wormstar and it is my hope that this city becomes a symbol of the Armada's unity. This scene will be mirrored across the galaxy on countless worlds as the Armada spreads to protect more and more.

"I know animosity still lingers among you, wounds fresh and old still painful. Take heart, people of Rukor, those who already live under the Armada were once dedicated enemies of each other, driven by their rulers such as the Ahkam and the Empire to ravage countless worlds in a pointless cycle of pain and ruin. Yet with the Armada, all are given a choice to begin a new life of mutual peace and protection for each other. You have all bled for each other and suffered similar ills at the hands of the corrupt and powerful and this unites us all. The Armada grows stronger for every member, no matter the race or former alliance, that pledges to stand by the side of their comrades in defense of the weak and subjugated and learn to let go of their former hatreds and angers.

"This is what I pledge, that the ructu and all who join the Armada, will have my protection until the day I meet the True Death," there was a hushed murmuring through the crowds but you continue, "But fear not, the Armada is greater than any singular being, even myself. It is a force that can no longer be stopped and with the aid of the ructu and everyone that lives among the Armada it shall continue to persist and flourish. This is my pledge to you all."

There was a moment of silence until a group of Necrolyte Legionnaires recently relieved from Refuge shouted out a cheer of, "For Jadyk! For the Armada! For the Wormstar!" and the cheer spread rapidly, a multitude of voices chanting in many voices and languages but all carrying the same message.

Jor lifts his staff and the holographic image expands to include him standing by your side as his voice shouts out in old Wormtongue, "For Jadyk and the Wormstar! To Death and through it to Eternity!" the Armadans and Legionnaires present repeat the chant, the ructu quickly doing their best to replicate the strange alien language with equal enthusiasm. The human turns his head to smile at you and you nod in thanks as the chanting continues.

You could feel their excitement rolling off them in waves of nearly physical energy. The hidden energy collectors embedded under the cobblebone paths and walls siphoning off their ambient energy as they chanted yours and the Wormstars name in the shadow of the Fury. You fed greedily off this power, feeling the duel flames of Solar and Void surging with power at your core surrounded by an ever deepening ocean of Necrotic might. Finally you understood why the Wormstar and other entities sought out worshipers. The power and trust they so willingly bestowed upon you was intoxicating.

Jor steps forward and the image shifts to solely him as he lifts his hands for quiet. Once the chanting had died down his voice carries out through the Chitin Choir, the human momentarily thankful it had worked instead of leaving him looking like a fool in front of thousands, "As Lord Jadyk said, this city is Vyi'a'Rthun, the Isle of Salvation. It is here that the Armada shall aid the ructu reach a new age of enlightenment. It was mere leagues from this isle that Lord Jadyk and his General, the Predator Eiton, hunted down and injured the fabled Beast of Rukor," he says with a grand motion to the massive bioship looming over them and it gives another short bellow, this time blessedly restrained from before but still making those gathered flinch.

The human let out a goodnatured laugh and continues, "Through the blessings of the Wormstar and the power of Jadyk they were able to tame it and Reconstruct it. It arose from the oceans of Rukor, reborn and reconstructed into the shape that looms above us all, the Fury of the Wormstar and the embodiment of the Armada's strength. With this great gift from Rukor itself the Armada shall bring the glory of the Wormstar to the rest of the Galaxy and blaze a path for the Ructu to follow into life among the stars," he smiles and lets the cheering masses of ructu voice their pride as thousands looked up at him. Even without tapping into the energy collectors he could feel that power and it energized him.

Finally he motions for calm once more and the crowds fall silent, "And now it is my great pleasure to allow you all to join us within Vyi'a'Rthun. It's streets and canals are open to all ructu and friends of the Armada. But please, enough of my prattling. Enter! Witness the glory of the Wormstars visions!" he shouts as the gates in the main stormwalls creak and slide open as quasiphasic locks were uncoupled and the first view of the island city was fully revealed.

Vyi'a'Rthun was a fairly large island and the landscape had been drastically altered. The island, once rugged and wild, had been reshaped into a series of tiers forming a massive ziggurat city. Staggered landings held clusters of buildings and plazas while replanted jungles thrived between buildings of bone and metal and served as small wildlife preserves. Rukorian wildlife roamed the dense strips of wildlands split by canals, elevated train tracks transporting the would-be locals between city sectors to avoid disturbing the wildlife.

The center of the island was the main sector where the majority of future residents would reside and work. Built around a long dormant volcano the main sector resembled a tropical version of Iti'a'Ropku with canals and orchards space liberally through its streets and plazas. Tunnels ran through the island as well, linking the sectors for Reconstructed assigned to maintenance could move unhindered by the living. Certain tunnels were connect the outer sectors to the underwater sectors where long passages of glass allowed spectacular views of the colorful reefs and the aquatic Reconstructed that swam past while connecting to large domes where Jor planned to have the future Necromancers and clergy of the Wormstar to be trained and educated.

Once again you were impressed by Jor's ingenuity. The human had said before that it was a combination of his previous history in studying architecture and city planning before he wound up becoming a mining foreman along with inspiration from the Wormstars whispers from the grave.

As the ructu and Armadans surged inside you turned to visit with those gathered on the platforms while Jor discreetly excused himself to depart for his mission with the Necrolyte Commander.

Vyi'a'Rthun has been opened to the people of Rukor and the Armada. It marks a the beginning of what the ructu elders have started to call the Age of Ascension.

In the Drakon system the twin worlds of Tenebrous Greater and Lesser were constantly thrown into darkness as the planets and their shared moon orbited and eclipsed the other. This combined with the constant storms stirred by the gravitational tides of their sister planet shaded the world in near constant darkness broken by the occasional clear patch of sky. This darkness has lead to the proliferation of life that were bioluminescent both flora and fauna.

An odd feature of the twin worlds was the fact their biospheres were so similar, clearly sharing common ancestry with genetic testing proving that life likely originated on one of the worlds then was introduced to the other.

Gravity was strange on the Tenebrous planets, weakening or strengthening in phases that lead to regular seismic activity leading to grand mountain ranges being pulled from the ground and revealing a staggeringly complex system of underground caverns present on both worlds. A current theory of the Think Tanks state that life likely originated in one of the cave systems where geological activity caused them to reach the surface and flourish.

"Plant" life was unlike most present through the galaxy, rather than gaining the majority of their energy from the red stars light have become parasitic on larger plants or downright carnivorous by feeding on the animal life. With leaves typically a dark color to soak in as much thermal and solar radiation as they could most sported brilliant displays of bioluminescence or vibrant ultraviolet patterns. Most of the floral life seemed to reproduce through spores that constantly fill the air, likely to cause allergic reactions to alien races sensitive to airborne contaminants.

The animal species of the planets were a varied sort but most followed variations of either a hexopodal or octopodal bilateral body-plan with the local vertebrates more likely to be of the hexopodal variety and the invertebrates of the octopodal. Another common trait was the possessing of five eyes of varied complexity that allowed the most developed a wide range of vision ranging from the thermal to the visual and into the ultraviolet. Despite these trends there were still outliers evolved for certain ecological niches producing bizarre examples of life.

Among these lifeforms the Reconstructed surveys have discovered a number that may prove useful to the Armada. The Think Tanks are already eagerly at work dissecting and inspecting the genetics of the samples brought to them.

Gained:
>Tenebrous lifeform investigations: Fast - A thorough examination of the lifeforms of the twin Tenebrous planets to assess its potential for potential colonization.

I tend to be super busy when the threads start, so I normally just read them later. Sorry Grave. I do want to ask though, did we gove jor his slave bitch yet, or are we not ready to hand off that sneaky shit yet? P.S. I love the quest, and have been reading and sometimes posting since the start.
>>
>>1327927
To queue it goes! Let's see what kind of fucked up things we can get from here to bolster our armada.

Though with an unique biosphere as this, we should be careful not to fuck it up too much.
>>
>>1327927
I can't wait to see what we get. I always kind of feel like we're playing a warped version of pokemon whenever we find something new to dissect.

On a side note I had a moment of brilliance when I woke up this morning.

I was thinking that the only thing really keeping us even with the other factions in this sector is our rapid increases in technology, so in my opinion we should increase our research even more.
My way of doing this would be to make a structure similar to an orbital platform in terms of cost. We would either build it or move it into the darkness of space. The station would be styled as a research center that can hold 50,000 think tanks (I'm not sure how many we have now but 50,000 sounds like a large number compared to what we have now). We could also put a miniature Deep Rot (Shallow Rot) on the premises.

I think this would work because we can make elemental generators that can power everything.
From what I remember we don't have a large testing facility besides the ice planet.
If something does go catastrophically wrong, it would be in the middle of nowhere.

The costs per station would be approximately
>600,000B
>1,200,000M
>+ optional cost of shallow rot
>>
>>1328624
Damn well better have a self destruct in case of it being taken over. Also, even if its in the middle of nowhere, the wraiths are still an issue.Speaking of, how much does THAT BITCH know bout us knowing? Did she get a report about what happened when we attacked the wraiths, or did word not reach her?
>>
>>1328921
The last thing I remember about the Wraiths is when we helped the Armatocere with them, but I feel if we saw them around our space it would be safe to say she knows about our space, she is pretty much a god atm, she eats stars.

We could definitely put pretty much anything we want to on the station, it would probably fit into the price.
>>
>>1328624
Another research station doesn't sound like a bad idea, but I'd rather make multiple smaller stations (either out in the void of space, or on lifeless planets).

Rather than Shallow Rot, I'd go with something like Sharp Decay or Dread Whisper. I also think it would be cool if we did a team project with the Lavafather and built another huge Think Tank, but by combining our Necrotic science-sorcery with his molten craft. Maybe call it the Stone Heart.
>>
>>1329007

We could go one further and place them on rogue planets out between stars.

As the ructu and members of the Armada flooded into Vyi'a'Rthun Jor excused himself after assuring Red-Leaf-Strains that she would do fine in dealing with and helping guide them through the island city. The osogo flit her ears and squinted in a smile, thanking Jor for his encouragement then departed as well to help guide a group of the Kanda refugees that had taken to following the matriarch ever since their integration into the Armada. For many of them, having been born and raised on Kanda and other Osjiic Empire worlds, this was the first time ever being able to witness a planet such as Rukor. Several had become entranced by the ocean, after a life on desolate planets never having believed there could be that much water in the galaxy.

Jor boarded a Coffin and it took off once he had secured himself in a seat. With a thought a holoscreen was projected and a communications line established. As the Coffin ascended through the orbit the human looked down on the world as the city he helped build shrank beneath him. A newly made Stealth Frigate awaited the Coffin and as they neared it the screen finally flickered to show the face of the Necrolyte Commander.

The osjiic gave a salute and Jor responded in kind before speaking, "I am on my way, my friend. I have the stealth ship you requested and am just about to depart from Rukor."

"Very good. I've given my orders to my officers and have met with the Illuminator and they are all ready to carry on with the campaign," the Voidsinger seems to squint at the screen, "Do you think you're ready, Jor?"

Jor blinked in surprise at the question, "Why wouldn't I be? I fought and passed Ruscuv's trial, I think some zombies and ghouls won't be a problem."

Laughing the osjiic shakes his head, "Did you know I once fought against the Sunscale before I was assigned to Estkri's fleet?"

"I did not. Go on," Jor encourages as the Coffin docks with the ship. Once secure the Frigate begins to accelerate away from the planet and charge its combi-drive.

"It was a minor skirmish in hindsight but being there on that moon fighting Warbloods while Scouts picked us off felt like the most intense battle I could imagine at the time. Afterwards it seemed like nothing could catch me off-guard," he grins as he remembers past glories but looks back to the screen, "With that battle and victory I thought I was ready for anything. And then my fleet was sent to some Confederate backwater colony. A routine shake-down while on the hunt for pirates. You know how the rest of that story goes."

Jor laughs and nods, "I think I get what you're saying. Fear not my friend, I have faith in our capabilities. We have come a long way since we were a both a simple miner and a soldier."

"Indeed we have. I must make last minute checks to make sure my Legionnaires I picked are ready to go. We eagerly await your arrival, First Necromancer," he says with another salute.

"As do I, Commander," Jor replies with a salute as the Frigate disappeared into FTL

Lightyears away on Yrre-1 the Harbinger shudders slightly as your mind slips into it and you find it had been sitting motionless in a small secluded portion of the forest city. Pollen and spores coated the Harbinger, swirling off its form as it rose up, startling the small collection of floral citizens that had gathered to watch the strange undead visitor.

A skycarriage sat nearby waiting and once boarded it lifts off by unfurling great leaves that catch the breeze. Silently observing the Armatocere city as you passed through it to the Eldertrees audience hall. As the Harbinger spent more time observing the strange city you came to recognize that the Armatocere were as varied as the animal races, each type seeming to prefer a different time of day to bask in the sun or when to stop at a pool or canal for a rest. The majority seemed to communicate mostly through very subtle bodylanguage and chemical signals, the air thick with their pheromone conversations.

Ushered inside by a Sapling attendant the Harbinger floats into the room the Eldertree was rooted in, a collection of the elemental potentials awaiting nearby. The leaves of the Eldertree rustle when you enter and a few fall to the ground to join the piles already there, seeming to shed them as often as a human lost skin cells.

The Harbinger bows respectfully before the Eldertree, "Greetings, Elder."

<Greetings, Harbinger,> it's mental voice rumbling through the undead, <Our volunteers have prepared themselves and are ready to depart for Iti'a'Ropku. Sapling Slrrt has spoken highly of your city and most are eager to depart.>

"Of course, Elder. We can depart at anytime. They may depart in my vessel or follow inside a treeship if they wish," you offer courteously.

Among the knots and whorls of the Eldertrees pale bark alien eyes watched the puppet undead as its voice echoes in your mind once more, <Once again we must thank you for this great gift you are sharing with us, Lord Jadyk. We realize we have taken more than given in this alliance of ours. You share much with us while we offer little in return. The Parliament of Eldertrees wishes to know if there is anything that the Armatocere may assist in or offer, other than war with the other faction.>

"Thanks to the cloning technology you granted us we have made great strides in genetic engineering with the "animal" genetics of the galaxy. Regrettably our skill does not extend into the floral. The Think Tanks of the Armada are eager to receive lessons on how to, for the betterment of our factions," you say for a start.

The Eldertrees branches quiver slightly as it seems to be conversing with another for several moments then you feel its voice in your head once more <Very well. The Mindvines will help your Think Tanks in this endeavor.>

Gained:
>Floral Genetics: Medium

<Was there anything else the Armatocere Collective could assist the Armada with?> it asks

"Terraforming worlds is a valuable asset. I would not think to ask for the secrets at this time but would the Collective be willing to assist my Armada in shaping worlds? The living populace of the Armada grows by the day and in time new worlds will become a necessity," you probe, knowing they were unlikely to fully give away their technology.

There was another bout of silence before it replies, <Terraforming is an extensive and expensive process. If the Armada would assist in the costs and processes, then yes, the Armatocere Collective will assist the Armada in terraforming new worlds. Through that your Think Tanks may learn the secrets of bringing life to a barren world,> There was a moments pause and you hear a strange alien sound in your mind, unlike any language you had heard before and you were completely unable to place it as laughter until the Eldertree spoke with an amused tone, <It is amusing to the rest of the Parliament, and we mean no disrespect, that an undead with your reputation would be so interested in bringing life to dead worlds. It is because of these...quirks that we are so intrigued by you and your Armada, Lord Jadyk.>

The Harbinger lets out it's own laughter, several of the gathered floral creatures flinching slightly, "Indeed, this Galaxy is full of contradictions and paradoxes and I feel that I am becoming one of the more extreme examples. I thank you for your kindness, Elder, and for the Parliaments agreement."

You were prepared to depart with the elemental potentials until the Eldertree spoke once more, <With the Refuge crisis, do you require military aid in addition to the food and medicinal aid? I know I said we will not interfere in military actions against other factions but this undead plague helps no one. Some of our number have become inspired by the kindness you show in fighting to protect those that have no alliance to you and they wish to assist. We understand if politically you cannot allow us to join you considering the eyes of the sector are upon the Refuge system.>

Do you wish to accept the Armatocere's offer of military help with the Refuge crisis?

Honestly with the attention of Refuge anything we do will filter out to the Union eventually, and there are more preferable ways to make our alliance common knowledge. We've got more than enough troops on the ground right now, they can handle it.
>>
>>1334033

>N

We're doing fine on our own and bringing in our allies could complicate things
>>
>>1334033
>N

We appreciate the offer, but over committing is bad idea, especially when other factions and forces may seek to be predatory during this time.
>>
>>1334033
Whatever our answer, lets not forget to thank them profoundly for the offer. Their willingness to help us save lives speaks much of their intentions to the wider galaxy.
>>
>>1334033
"I am deeply grateful for the offer, Elder. The situation in Refuge has lead to a...tense relationship with the Confederacy. It would be poor for both of us if the Confederacy or Osjiic or other faction decided to take advantage and strike us both in a cowardly attempt," you say through the Harbinger as it bows.

<Very well, Lord Jadyk. Should the need arise, just speak the word and we could have Warships and ground troops to assist wherever your Armada may need the aid. You have fought and bled for us, it is only right the Armatocere do so as well for our allies.> it says firmly.

After saying your good-by to the Eldertree the elemental potentials are ferried to where they would depart from Yrre-1 to join you in Iti'a'Ropku. Despite your offer they board a treeship and quickly depart into FTL.

However, the vessel that had transported the Harbinger stays behind in orbit and the undead puppet returns to its silent contemplation among the lights and trees of the Armatocere city. Left behind as an ambassador the Harbinger was mindlessly content to stay in the colorful city of life. Sitting on a large root of a skyscraping tree it holds out a hand to catch falling leaves and pollen, the undead silently observing.

"Scatters will long be scarred by these events. It's surface and it's moon will tell a tale of brutality and insane cruelty. These scenes are repeated throughout Refuge, this aptly named system under siege," the words rolled across the airwaves of the system, a simple audio transmission projected by the Armada ships sailing through the star system.

"It is up to the Necrotic Armada to bring an end to these atrocities, to rescue the people of this system. Those that have fled and gathered here are survivors, glorious strugglers who have fought for their right to life and they have my utmost respect for their strength. We of the Armada have come to ensure this right is no longer hindered," A battleship looms in orbit over Scatters where many miles below a massive swarm of undead was launching an attack on a fortified city protected by the Necrolyte Legion and the survivors.

"By the light of the Wormstar and the blood of its faithful, salvation has come for you, beautiful strugglers. Fear not, for your terrors and pains have called out and the Armada has come to answer your pleas where all others have been silent. By the will of the Wormstar, Life shall continue," the transmission cuts and Illuminator Tlacex folds his arms across his chest as he stood in the cargo hold of the battleship alongside his Juggernaut mount, looking down at Scatters beneath him as the doors rumbled open to the vacuum of the cold.

The newly formed General made a mental note to thank Jor for his help in composing that speech as he stepped off the edge of the cargo bay and began to plummet to the planet below. His Juggernaut roared soundlessly in the airless void as it followed, reaching out a hand to snatch the cackling general and pull him close as a sphere of hard-light and void energy surrounded them. The hard-light and void shields glow even brighter with reentry the Illuminator silently prayed to the Wormstar while protected by his dedicated mount.

Throughout Refuge, from those hunkered down on Scatters to the crowded camps of Hearth, to the countless ships standing guard against the dead, had heard his message. They spoke in hushed tones, tales of the Legion and the Reconstructed fighting to save them spreading like wildfire.

Illuminator Tlacex has arrived to bring the light of salvation to the people of Refuge in the name of the holy Wormstar.

Streaking through the atmosphere trailing a tail of fire and twisted voidlight Illuminator Tlacex lived up to his name as his arrival lit up the night sky. The living fighting down below across the planet looked up nearly as one with the undead hordes, the battles in a temporary lull as the were entranced by the spectacle.

Not some mere meteor or burning hull of a shattered ship, the Illuminators path left in its wake shimmering waves of decaying hard-light and twisting voidlight as powerful bursts of burning light adjust its path. Shocked by the sudden course change, the survivors and Necrolytes were shocked back into action as they ran for cover. The undead hordes were slower to react and the masses outside of the fortified city, now nearly a sprawling fortress of ramshackle buildings and salvaged ship hulls, descended into chaos as the burning sphere of flame directed itself toward their center mass.

Even with hard-light barriers braking their descent paired with a built-in anti-grav harness built into the Juggernaut to slow their descent their arrival was an explosive affair. Night becomes day as they detonated in a searing nova of light and fire that incinerated ranks of undead and sent a powerful shockwave resonating out that knocks many into the air or sprawling in the dirt and dust.

In the center of a blasted crater the Illuminator Juggernaut uncurled its body and Illuminator Tlacex rises into the air. As the undead rose and the living emerged from hiding the newly formed General lifts his hand out to the side and the dark crystals rupturing from his form begin to glow with a Necrotic green and a bone-chain staff unwraps itself from around his waist and moves similar to Jadyk's own Kyn'tk and snaps into shape in his grasp. Necrotic energy crackles along the weapon shaped like an osjiic spine, a halberd blade of crackling hard-light forming at the end.

The crystals of his body shine as an armor of hard-light takes shape spreading from his weapon and across his body until he floated there above the crater and his mount armored in shining hard-light. Blades spread light wings behind him and the curving horns of crystal that burst from his skull crackle with Necrotic flame in a crude simulacrum of a flaming crown evocative of the Harbingers.

His beak pulls away from his blunt, square teeth in a wicked grin before he shouts out, "BY THE RADIANCE OF THE WORMSTAR COME MEET YOUR OBLIVION"

His words rang through the air as he suddenly blazed forward, thrown by blasts of unstable hard-light energy acting as crude but powerful thrusters as his wing constructs stretch out wide. Swinging his halberd the bones of the weapon extend and the blade lengthens and with a single swipe cleaves through a dozen zombies. Blasts of light leap from his free hand and opened beak, sending grenade like explosions of decaying light energy to vaporize the undead.

Tlacex almost felt sorry for the undead, woefully unprepared to face his fury as they turned their weapons against him, slugs and blastershots incinerated by his armor, his attacks carving through them like a scythe through wheat. That pity was quickly washed away by the exhilaration of bringing the radiant glory of the Wormstar for all the Galaxy to witness.

The Juggernaut was not silent as its master flew into battle, the towering Reconstructed leaping from the crater with a blast of void-light as the Void Core in its armored center engulfs its form in twisted light and ultraviolet flame. It lands with a double-fisted slam against the ground to crush a cluster of ghouls and knock back the surrounding undead with a wave of Voidflame that washes off of it. Bellowing out in a rage as the undead fired and riddled its hard-light armor, the Juggernaut charging forward as Voidflames leap from its mouth to sweep across the horde. Its swinging fists smashed the dead into new craters or leaving them as bloodied smears of mangled bone and meat in its wake.

Emboldened by the sudden reinforcements the Necrolyte Legion and the survivors began to shout and cheer as they watched the overwhelming display. With renewed vigor they renewed their defense, firing into the scattered crowds of undead still in disarray by the dramatic turn of events. Necrolytes called out praises to Jadyk and the Wormstar, their battle fury driven nearly to a zealots fervor that was quickly infectious to the survivors that picked up their shouts and calls to an unknown but seemingly merciful god.

Almost unnoticed as they plummeted from the sky until they let out their own piercing shrieks a flock of Devils arrived, drawn by the presence of Tlacex. Their wings snapped open and they swoop low over the crowds of undead, their beaks splitting open as they rake the swarms with beams of necrotic energy that flays them down to their base components. The aerial undead screamed and filled the air with their cries mingling with the weaponsfire, explosions and screams of the living, dead, and dying.

Rising above that chaotic symphony of warfare was the laughter and shouted praises of the Illuminator who so joyously brought the searing light of Jadyk's judgement to the unworthy undead.

As Tlacex carries out his judgement and punishment on the undead the Necrolyte Commander watched the spectacle on a holoscreen as they carve their way through the crowds bringing much needed relief to the besieged shanty city. Rosa stood next to him and lets out a laugh as sweeping backhand of the Juggernaut sent a leaping ghoul flying, "Am I glad I joined the Armada before those monsters were created. They don't know a thing about subtlety do they?" she asked and glanced at the Voidsinger.

Snorting a laugh he shakes his head, "They certainly do not. Lorgul will certainly attempt to one-up the Illuminator now," he says and turns to look at another screen listing battlefield reports as they awaited Jor's arrival.

Rosa kept watching the battle, "If we're going to be sneaking in, it's definitely a good thing to throw out a big flashy monster like that to draw their attention. I mean, shit, just look at that, the poor corpses don' stand a chance."

"Like you said, I am also grateful to have joined the Armada when I did," the Commander says and glances over, "Are you prepared? Check on the others?"

Scoffing the berserker woman turns and folds her arms across the chestplate of her exosuit, "Do I look like I'm in my sleepwear?" she lets out a chuckle as the osjiic rolls their eyes, "But, aye, I'm ready. Rest are ready to go as well. Time to see if the Arcdancers the Predators speak so highly of can meet my expectations. The other Voidsingers are ready of course, specially Clenkur. Damn stonestar clacking gives me a headache but they're almost a match for you when it comes to slinging Voidflame."

The osjiic nods, "Clenkur is definitely one of my best Voidsingers. S'why they're coming," he says and scrolls through a another report.

Rosa leaned against the console and looked at the command bridge of the battleship, Legionnaires and Demi-Think Tanks rush back and forth as Pilots work studiously in their stations, "Do you think Jor will be ready?" she asks with a serious tone, "He isn't a soldier like we are. You told me how soft he was when you were both first picked up by Jadyk."

The Commander turns to lean against the console as well, the holoscreen flickering out. He was silent for a moment in thought, "I hope, for his and our sake, that he is. I've seen the recording of his Trial. It was quite impressive for an amateur. And he has been training with Reconstructed and Necrolyte sparring partners. This mission will be enlightening for many reason, I suspect."

Rosa was silent for a few moments and was about to speak when an alert came, signalling that Jor's stealth frigate had arrived in the system. The human pushes off the console and stretches as best she could in the powered armor, "Well, time to get going I 'spose."

Nodding in agreement the Osjiic turns to give one last batch of commands to his subordinates. Turning he walks with Rosa toward the docking bay where Coffins would transport them to the approaching frigate.

They were joined by a motley assortment of Necrolyte Legionnaires of numerous races, a good number of them being either Voidsingers and Arcdancers. No matter their skillset they were each hand selected by the osjiic for this mission.

Boarding the Coffins they set off to join the frigate and the Commander said a silent prayer to the Wormstar, the Voidscreamer crafted and gifted to him by Jadyk secured by his seat. He ran a hand over where he hand embedded the shard of carved chitin armor that had once been embedded under the skin of his neck, the touch of it settling what little nervousness he felt at the approaching mission. Yet it did nothing to quell the burning ache that encroached ever further through his bones, that all too familiar searing of the Voidflame as it consumes his flesh with slowly increasing speed.

He knew his time was approaching but he would continue to fight until the day the eternal song of the Void threatened to consume him and burn him to ash. Only then was he ready to face the specter of undeath and potential oblivion.

On Rukor the celebrations continued, the Fury of the Wormstar slipping into the ocean to lounge in the shallow waters surrounding Vyi'a'Rthun the massive bioship being very careful not to damage any local reefs or the tunnels and domes of glass under the surface. Boats circled it cautiously but with open awe and with a confirmation from you several elders were guided by the stonestar necromancer Klikli to reverently walk along its armored hull and marvel at the former Beast of Rukor.

You had just introduced the Stonestar chiefs and Obsidianborn diplomat to the ructu elders, a demi-Think Tank providing translation services. The Lavafather hand channeled his will and voice through the obsidian construct, startling the crustaceans at first but they quickly warmed up to speaking with him. As you had departed the Lavafather was proclaiming that the fleets and military might of Bastion would always be at the ready to defend their sister world of Rukor at a moments notice, stating that they were all victims of the Ahkams cruelty and should be there to support one another.

Checking in through her Gargoyle familiar you see that Red-Leaf-Strains was guiding the group of former Kanda slaves, walking a trail along the edge of one of the copses of jungle vegetation. The voices of the new Armada citizens were full of awe and wonder at the sight of the lush vegetation, the children among them laughing and shouting in delight at the calls and brief sightings of Rukors wildlife.

They were joined by a group of native ructu, the two groups merging as they paused to mingle and introduce themselves. Red-Leaf-Strains was swarmed by the curious ructu, the matriarch necromancer bleating an amused laugh as she speaks with them. You watched for a few minutes, fascinated by how the crustaceans and the alien children seemed to quickly warm up to each other, encouraging the adults to as well.

As you sat in your Throne you were briefly contacted by the Deep Rot stating that Buddy had an update on their operation as well as additional information.

There was also a message from the Disciple with an update on his situation as well and requesting your advice.

Additionally an Eyegore has compiled its findings on a distant star system you had nearly forgotten you had deployed at a rumor of an undead threat the Armatocere had relayed before the Refuge crisis was known to you. It's primitive mind added with excitement it was proud of its findings, a curiosity of the Reconstructeds ever developing complexity perhaps.

Which of these tasks shall you tend to first?

Now this is most unexpected.

And on the subject of Red-leaf stains walking trails, I was thinking we should build a road and facilities to house pilgrim plains runners at some point. Nothing terribly ornate, just a paved road with regular shelters stocked with food and medicine. I doubt the local ecosystem could sustain all the pilgrims as it did red-leaf's tribe. Now that she has shown the path we can make it easier for those that follow.

That actually is in effect sort of. They haven't paved the path yet but there are already little rest stop areas where food and supplies are left behind and restocked each time an osogo herd passes through on the pilgrimage. Caverns furnished with comfortable rugs and braziers, tented areas to get out of the snow, etc. that we set up in previous threads

Gargoyles also frequent the path to help guide the herds, mimicking how Red-Leaf-Strains gargoyle guided them and was eventually sort of adopted by her and now serves as her familiar.

Upon hearing the news of a potential undead menace troubling a distant Confederate colony you had dispatched an eyegore several days prior. Due to the length of the trip and the various other events that have arisen since its dispatching you had nearly forgotten about it as it set to examining the system it had been sent to.

Now it proudly presents the data before you and you glance over the information.

>System: Teuthan

>Star: Yellow Medium

>Planets:

>Rocky world: A small tidally locked world that has forgone colonization due to the extreme variations of temperature between hemispheres and the powerful storms that brew as the day strikes the night.

>Honiv: A moderately large planet with a higher than normal gravity but still within comfortable ranges for most Confederate races. With a rich biosphere it was selected to be a potential farming world harvesting the local plantlife and the goal of domesticate of local species of large arthropods. A colony set near the temperate equator where only a few thousand lived and worked to shape the planet to their needs, the population supposedly mostly ecologists, engineers, xenobotanists and xenobiologists. With the planet almost equally split between sea and land the planets tides were heavily affected by the twin moons, the large of which having a small station built into its crust.

>Rocky world: With landmarks suggesting the now airless and barren world once held liquid oceans it has been left alone beyond several automated drones and shuttles performing mineral surveys for potential mining operations in the future.

>Binary ice worlds: A pair of small ice balls that share a handful of moons appear unremarkable except for the presence of active geysers on the larger shooting pillars of ice and water miles into the atmosphere making the surface hazy with atmosphere.

>Gas giant: A typical gas giant of swirling muted colors. It's largest moon possesses a small unmanned automated outpost run by a simple VI with the goal of setting the groundwork for a future fuel refinery.

The Eyegore's report goes on to state that space traffic around Honiv has been more active than the Armatocere data had suggested, shuttles leaving from the colony and using short range warpdrives to travel to the various planets in the system. The shuttles did not seem to possess proper FTL, the simpler and smaller warp drives allowing for short range jumps inside a local system but lacking the power to travel interstellar distances. Scans showed recent construction of multiple buildings not sharing the local building aesthetics being raised in what appeared to be scorched fields.

Mining operations crewed by what was likely colonists were present on the rocky world were being dug using preformed caverns as their start. Buildings like those on Honiv were present, freshly constructed and seemingly unprotected from the airless atmosphere despite satellite photos showing humanoids walking on the surface near the mines.
>>
>>1335118
Oh snap, you're still running, sweet. This is interesting, did the Armatocere give us any details about the supposed undead moving about in this system? It looks pretty quiet compared to Refuge, but that's not hard. I think we're going to have to put boots on the ground if we want a better idea of what's going on on the surface.

This is why we need a means of discreetly infiltrating other factions, like a unit that can impersonate living individuals. Which is a good reason to resurrect our glorious species of Necroworms, they can literally possess people.
>>
>>1335118
Your Eyegore states those were only a part of the strange happenings within the system. Their scans could sense no transmissions from the surface of the planets nor from the shuttles traveling through the system.

The Virtual Intelligence of the mining operation however was broadcasting a message, requesting that the colony of Honiv reply to its hails. Stubbornly it repeatedly hails the vessels seemingly repurposed from transport freighters into fuel harvesters that dive into the upper atmosphere of the gas giant.

Most troubling of all were the Necrotic energy signatures it had detected under the crusts of both Honiv and the arid worlds. They did not match any signatures the Think Tanks recognized but there was something undoubtedly there.

You tell the Eyegore you were pleased with its report and you could feel it's joy at a job well done. Telling it to keep watch you say it likely won't be lonely for much longer and the satellite Reconstructed proudly returns to its post.

At your command a small fleet of stealth capable ships are assembled and crewed by a variety of your Reconstructed troops with a generous amount of your stealth based units such as the Shadows and Looms.

With the distance to the system you were reluctant to send Eiton just yet but you let him know he should be prepared to depart at a moments notice. The undead General replies that he will be ready for that order. He also adds that his designs for additional stealth based ships were nearly completed to atone for his poor performance in the raid against the Osjiic Empire.

You were intrigued by this new threat, watching momentarily through the sight of a Harbinger possessing a Solar Heart energy core standing on the bridge of a Sower Corvette moments before their combi-drives ignite and launch them forward chasing an artificial gravity well past the lightspeed barrier.

Whatever this possible undead threat may be they were certainly more discreet than the controlling force of the Refuge undead.

Kanda will finally be added to the lists by the next thread. Reconstructed are repairing and retrofitting the resource gathering facilities while also building defenses.

It currently only has one anti-orbital lance in use so far, the one you managed to protect and research, but you can definitely order more.

>>1335308
You folks actually voted to reinforce that system when you voted to launch the raids against the Osjiic and Ahkam recently so it's currently going on in the background

>>1335329
He has already asked Jadyk to become an Immortal when the time comes. He doesn't want to lose his memories or his sense of self by becoming a Voidknight or other Reconstructed hero. He truly wants to keep his mind in tact so he can continue to lead the Legion as long as the Armada is in tact
>>
>>1336321
So are we able to try to build more immortals? Our last ones got nicked by those masquerade rejects,so they might do it again, but then again they might not. If they have a problem then they will either steal our new one or tell us that its a problem( which is understandable since mass producible immortality would cause some...problems).
>>
>>1336793
>So are we able to try to build more immortals?
Of course! whenever you'd like actually
>>
>>1336824
The Immortals are obviously going to be made up of the elites from the Legion and all of the varied energy-wielding troops, led by the Commander himself.

They'd be the honor guard for Jadyk, Jor, and whoever else becomes important enough to merit such protection, as well as being the best warriors among our burgeoning Empire (not counting the generals).

We could also offer it to those members of the Armada that support us in vital areas (scientists, engineers, explorers, traders, etc.), but the one constant is that they all be volunteers, and that they have the will to endure centuries. Immortality is definitely not for everyone.
>>
>>1335368
also is NO one gonna acknowledge this? also i just realized the guy i was responding to wants to teach people OUTSIDE of the armada how to use cauldrons. so it is very disconcerting this got no responses.

>After saying your good-by to the Eldertree the elemental potentials are ferried to where they would depart from Yrre-1 to join you in Iti'a'Ropku. Despite your offer they board a treeship and quickly depart into FTL.
Don't sweat it, they're en route as we speak. And don't get me wrong when I'm talking about the plants learning reconstruction I mean only once they've been spiritually bound to our cause as much as our other subjects. By the time they've gone full lich they will be just as heavily indoctrinated on the proper uses of their training and how to guard it from spreading. I personally think it was a big mistake giving them knowledge of the elements in the first place, so I fully support any effort to make sure they keep this shit in house.
>>
>>1339008
You are entirely forgetting the part where they are going back to the collective once their training is done? m8 they aren't our subjects in fact i don't know WHY we are teaching them how to fuck around with necrotic energy seeing as it was never part of the deal, also sure the elements whatever, but the necrotic being in living hands is already sacrilege of the highest order. and teaching them reconstruction? no lets not. actually let me rephrase that all the way to FUCK NO. do you have any idea how simple it would be for them to start black flag operations against us with that technology? let alone that we were ready to genocide the blackscale for teaching part of it to the living already?
>>
>>1339082
Anon, you do realize you have to learn how to make yourself a much before you can do it right? You kind of have to be alive and yourown entity. It's fine for the living to fiddle around with the necrotic, but to fully acess it's power then they must give themselves up to it.

It just means teaching them a set of beliefs that they're gonna need to use necrotic energy in the first place. They already know what's required and they're willing to trust us.

I won't insult you by asking if you're 18, but I will ask that you try to expand your vocabulary.

Dragging a chair over to a small table set out on the docking platform the Wick was moored Clud sits down and the three Legionnaire guards deal him a hand of the card game they were playing. A small radio was playing music, barely masking the sounds of the busy city around and below them, the Armadans laughing as they made wagers both successful and poor.

Buddy was sitting on the extended loading ramp of the Wick listening to the radio and looking out over the mega-city shimmering with lights as the sun set while sending wisps of smoke out from the cigarette burning down between his fingers. He hear footsteps approaching and turned slightly to see Eigha who motions to the ship intertior behind her, "Boss says he can talk to you," she says and Buddy sighs, standing and flicking the butt of the cigarette away while Eigha shouts for Clud. The netu shouted back saying he just got a good hand only to grumble and stand up to join them.

A holographic image of yourself waited for them were the demi-Think Tank projected it in their common room. The trio of smugglers bow before you, "I hear you wished to speak with me, Buddy. How did the meeting with the Cartel go?"

Sitting down on a padded bench next to Clud the human reaches into his jacket and pulls out his datapad, "Well so far initial sales of the Narcotikelp is progressing quite well. Veraga Prime apparently has a veeery active drug trade, lots of stuff comes in from the frontier. Lot of the "customers" agree its nice to have a drug grown from a living plant rather than synthically composed in a lab," he gives a laugh, "Don't they know how many living things out there will kill you faster than a bullet if you so much as lick them?" he gives a cough when the netu elbowed him.

Glancing up at your silent image he mutters an apology and looks back to the datapad, "They request a larger bulk, asking if we can provide at least double what we brought. They wish to try selling it on other planets though they expect to take a bigger cut from that for distribution, told them I'd have to check in with our Boss."

Clud nods, scratching under his beak, "They were quite interested in finding out who our Boss was and arranging a meeting sometime," he chuckles, "Either way, even if they take a larger cut of the profits for distribution to other worlds, isn't that what you wished for, Lord Jadyk? I mean spreading the proliferation of the Narcotikelp."

"Indeed it is, Clud. As for their request to meet me, tell them I am someone who prefers my anonymity. If they push, perhaps something came be arranged sometime," you say, drumming your claws on your armrest where you say on board a starships bridge.

"You're not going to send Jor, are you?" Eigha asks, leaning against the wall, "No offense to him but he doesn't look...all that human anymore," she says only to shoot a look at Buddy who was frowning at her, "What? He used to be a fat little man and now he looks half-dead already with an arm made out of chitin," she glances at your image and gives a respectful bow, "I meant no offense, Lord Jadyk, I know Jor has sacrificed much for the Armada, I-"

You cut her off with a motion of your hand, "It is fine, Eigha. Indeed, if we are to keep this ruse of having no connection to the Armada, Jor would not be the one to send to meet with the Cartel," Eigha nods and leans back.

Looking back to Buddy, "You said you had news for me I may be interested in?"

The human nods, "Yea, another report of the Sunscale increasing aggression in the neighboring Vertal sector. They've attacked a Navy fleet this time," he taps the screen of his datapad a few times to bring up the notes he had made, "Survivors said they made an announcement before their attack, something along the lines of, "If the Confederacy continues to tamper with technologies and ally with forces that nearly exterminated all free-willed life in the Galaxy, the Sunscale will no longer tolerate their blasphemies". The rumor mill says the fleet commander attempted a peaceful deescalation but the Sunscale rebuffed them and said the cargo they carried, and I quote, "Unclean abominations of metal and bone" as their cargo."

Clud clacks his beak with a huff out of his spiracles, "Sounds a lot like those monsters that terrorized the folks of Station 88 before the Legion freed them."

"Where did this attack take place?" you inquire.

"Official reports say the attack never happened. Don't want to cause an uproar since the Sunscale have provided quite a lot of relief efforts to Confederate citizens for as long as anyone can remember. But what I gathered it was right around this portion of the Vertal sector," he says and sends a string of coordinates for the demi-Think Tank to relay.

"Thank you for your continued good work, Buddy. All three of you have done well. Keep me informed if you hear anything else that may be of interest. Rumor can be a useful source of information if you know how to sift through it," you say and the three salute, "Carry on with your tasks. May the Wormstar guide you," you say before the connection cuts.

Buddy runs a hand across his bald scalp after putting his datapad away, "Was it just me or did he seem a little nervous about the Sunscale?"

Eigha shrugs, "Wouldn't you be? Their whole religion is based around killing undead."

Clud nods, "From what I gathered, the lizards gods helped overthrow the old Necrotic Armada and even helped...kill the Wormstar," he finishes after a moments hesitation and a glance at the demi-Think Tank.

Lightyears away as your living agents gathered and talked you were looking over starmaps of the Vertal sector. You supposed you should have expected this, the Sunscale striking at systems near where you had faced Glucors Armada during the Blackscales "trial".

The Sunscale were on the move.

We need more anti-ship guns. Aren't the sunscale resistant to necrotic? Maybe ark or void then?
>>
>>1340450
Looks like we need to ramp up production of non undead means of countering the sunscales.

Perhaps a mix of ARC and Void based weaponry to deal with their Solar and Void power base.

solar shielded ships would be a good start.

Nothing like a good ole ball of wisp fire of a ship to scare the bejeezus out of some lizards.

How about sunscale shielded ships?

make a ship that's hull is covered in Living Flyers.. that ought to fuck with the poor bastards will to open fire.
>>
>>1340582
Blackscale wouldnt like that.

However if we were to somehow able to get the Flyers into a more worshiping role in the armada that would be key. Even if its just to help cheer up the other zombified sunscale.

maybe a Giant Flyer Bioship?

Think we have to wait to capture some before we can begin cloning them though, they would make for an excellent counter to the sunscale.

Also a quick thing i whipped up just now because threads up and I'm home for a change..

From the bridge of a frigate in orbit over Rukor you send a connection through the Deep Rot itself to it's relay in the Wayward Disciples fortress. You did not have long to wait long before the Disciples image materializes before you and salutes, "My Lord, thank you for contacting me."

"Of course, my friend. Tell me what is you have learned."

"The Council city has returned. One of my sentry teams I stationed near one of their largest terrestrial cities saw it return from orbit and is currently holding position. Even from a distance the Gargoyles and Cyclops could see that it had suffered damage. Buildings and defenses toppled or leaning against their neighbor but the damage was not widespread if seemed," they send images through the Deep Rot Relay.

"The fact they can be damaged is good news for you, I would assume," you say.

"That is what I was thinking. I would like to learn more about this enemy of theirs," the Disciple says as you look through images taken from afar, "They could be future allies or pawns in my plans to secure the fragment of the Wormstar."

You nod in agreement, "Fine thinking, Disciple. Was there anything else you wished to discuss? You message made it sound urgent."

"I believe my forces have been built up enough to begin launching attacks against the Council. As I said, I would like to learn more about this "synthetic" enemy they face," they send a list of their forces, both Reconstructed troops and vehicles, "To secure their aid, depending on if they are...sympathetic to our shared goal of hurting the Council, I may need to reveal the presence of the larger Armada and am unsure if you would appreciate that. This goes along with my future attempts against the Council.

"They may discover I am in fact your agent and not an independent upstart undead trying to steal their power. How would you like me to progress in that regard?" they ask.

The Wayward Disciple wishes to investigate the enemy of the Council but fears to do so he may have to reveal his allegiances as well as when he eventually openly attacks the Council.

Tapping your claws in front of you for a few moments in thought before you answer, "Due to the unique circumstances of this situation, I have no guidance for you. This task is your own and I have nothing but optimism for your chances. Do what you must to succeed and bring the fragment."

Saluting the Disciple bows their head, "It will be done, Lord Jadyk. I will return someday with the Wormstars fragment and the Armada will be stronger for it."

The connection severs and your image flickers away after a proud nod from you. The Disciple turns and departs from the room They'd been speaking to you and enters the Command Hall as the Voidsingers called it. Only a few living were in the chamber standing around the long table with a rotating display of Caleras globe, a highlighted markers signifying cities and the floating Council city.

They looked up as the Disciple approached the end of the table, the first itru Voidsinger speaking up, "Everything well?"

Nodding the Disciple taps at a holographic display and the image changes to show the shots of the city, "We need to discover who or what could do this. They will be useful to us."

A vorh, a freed slave that had once attempted to lead a revolt but was sentenced to hard labor in a mining camp, spoke despite their damaged mandibles making their voice slightly off, "Yes, the synthetic foe. I once thought of using them to fight back to free us once news of them spread but knowledge is sparse. We need to interrogate officers."

A human nods and adds, "Either that or capture one of their warships. The data of their location would be on there. Then you could just fly out to them and meet them in person."

One of the itru speaks next, "A Council necromancer would know more for certain. We could ambush or strike at an isolated one if we are feeling brave."

The vorh shakes their head, "That would be too antagonistic. Council would definitely investigate."

"Well maybe it is time to get antagonistic!" another human shouts leading to the beginning of an argument.

As they debated with each other the Disciple ponders their next step.

How should they investigate the synthetic enemy?
>Capture a high ranking officer in the Councils armies

Not 18 however i AM German and i was under the impression that indoctrination is the same word but not?
>>
>>1341576
No, Indoctrination is the teaching of someone beliefs that aren't meant to be questioned.

Brainwashing is where you use psychological techniques that cause harm to the subject in order to program their perceptions and mental state.

They're related, but not identical.
>>
>>1341584
In my own experience both are looked down on in american culture, but also used quite often. Indoctrination by the schools and parents and big businesses. Brainwashing by the military and government.
>>
>>1342776
How fortunate Jadyk is not American.
>>
>>1342795
Brainwashing in the long run is a moronic tactic. It essentially causes either mental constipation when reality differs from whatever was forced into your head or simply ignores that part of reality even after it bites them in the ass. Its better to either convince them why we are right, or partially brainwash them until they can sit down and actually consider our argument.
>>
>>1342980
That's why I'm not advocating brainwashing. Brainwashing and indoctrinating/proselytizing aren't the same thing.

Honestly, the main objection to indoctrination in schools is that children are obligated to attend and are less capable of formulating reasonable objections. Note, there's no real objection to brainwashing in military basic training because informed adults are volunteering for the process.

We're dealing with volunteers, and we're also not brainwashing. It's really a non-issue.
>>
Speaking about indoctrination. Anyone thought that it might be in our interest to eventually try and 'turn' the leaders of the cartel over to our side.

I say this as it's nice doing business with them but, if we could control them more deeply our influence could spread much greater.

Just a thought really, wanted to see what others think about it.
>>
>>1341107
The Disciple listened to their arguments for a short time before he raps his knuckles on the table, silencing them as they look toward him.

"If this Synthetic foe is an enemy of the Council then a high ranked officer of their military would know more. Thank you for your input," the Disciple says and dismisses the living from the chamber.

They give a mixture of bows and salutes but they intone as one "To Death and through it to Eternity," before they depart.

The globe of Calera appears before him as they look it over, searching through the gathered data for likely targets.
