Nope! The only things you'd be missing out on are character cameos and references. Feel free to join this short silly drawquest anyways!

You will not stand for incompetence, not on your special day.

"Erm, s-so... you cover your stutter with a cough, plopping your arm at the table as you look up at the woman. "Sooo... How would you like to drop by a totally rad party tonight, uh-" You look to the tip jar, seeing the name written out in cursive, "...Aria, I'll be hosting one later today." Look away like you're not all that interested in her answer, you gotta appear cool and totally not desperate.

"A party, huh? Well, I won't be off work till five-"

"That's okay! Adults have parties at night and uh, as you can tell I am someone with um... refined taste." You flip your blonde hair back, hoping to show Lawrence that you are just as capable of talking to cool adults.

"Right, I can tell. I suppose I could stop by tonight, if I'm allowed to bring a date." Aria smiles while she says this and you try to keep your beating heart still. You've got not just your first guest, but two! If this keeps up, filling up the guest list should be easy!

"YES! I m-mean, of course you can bring a date, and any friends you know...!" Realizing that you've started to get all worked up at the idea of Aria bringing a lot of cool people, you remember to remain as cool and composed as before. "So long as they aren't any of the...unsavory types." You can't help but shoot a glare over to the ticket booth, annoyed that Lawrence is still engrossed in the rather one sided conversation. If he doesn't let her in at the door and it starts a scene, it's his fault for not paying attention when he should have been. "You'll have to forgive my security tonight, he seems to get distracted by those um, flirty types."

Aria follows your line of sight, laughing when she sees the ticket booth. You don't get what's so funny, but a notepad and pen are passed to you between her fits of giggles. With the apartment address written down, you've officially earned two guests!

Aria + Date

"Now if you'll excuse me, I must go prepare for tonight's event." You turn away, walking a straight line over to your original goal; balloons.
>>
Turns out, getting the balloons is easy enough. All you had to do was walk up and boom, you walk away with three floating above. You'd hope that by this point, Lawrence would at least have the decency to come on over and see if his boss, you, needed assistance with anything. But nope, him and that bad-influence-dressed-in-plaid are still talking! It's not professional behavior at all, and could even ruin the reputation of your party!

Smoking? Now they're smoking?! Mrs. Reagan would be so disappointed! Next thing you know, Lawrence will be lured in by some hoodie wearing shady guys trying to offer him something terrible like beer! Or one of those other things that they like to offer in the alleyway! You can't stand for this corruption!

It's time for you to get his attention!
>>
>>1280680
>This is serious! Could it be? In order to save Lawrence's mortal soul one of our mewly acquired baloons may have to make the ultimate sacrifice.
>Baloon popping is totally loud, they'd have to notice you if you did that!

Or maybe we could just walk up to him, grab him by the hem of his shirt and pull him away?
It's worked fairly well, thus far.
>>
>>1281789
But what if he's got the reefer madness and we catch it, our birthday would be ruined.
We could try, but is it worth the risk?
>>
You took the pledge, you need to go save Lawrence from the evil clutches of nicotine!

And, quit frankly, you're getting sick of him looking away like this! He does know that it is your birthday, doesn't he?

Marching forth ready to speak your mind, you can barely notice Mabel slipping the Devil's stick into her shirt pocket.

"Thanks for letting me bum this off ya, will help me get through my break a little better. Had to 'quit' cause my girlfriend kept getting on to me about it, but ay you know what they say about keeping the wifey happy." Mabel is talking while he's ready to light up, how could she let him do that! Doesn't she know how terrible it is! In response you ready yourself an appropriate distance away, holding the balloons under your arm.

"Your sacrifice won't be in vain." you tell the balloon unlucky enough to be closest to your reach, your trusty pen being brought down to pop the red rubber.

The noise instantly grabs their attention, Lawrence finally noticing that he has been neglecting him boss thus far.

He walks over, having the audacity to look confused by your heated nature.

"Did you know that, while you were busy chatting away, I managed to get both this amazing face painting done and get our balloons for the party?" you hold up the two remaining ones, wrapped tightly around your hand in fear of letting them slip away. "We had three. Had. I'm afraid yours had to be popped since you decided to run off. Maybe if you start acting like a better bouncer than I'll allow you to have one of the other ones, sound good?"

All Lawrence does is shrug. He's a pretty quiet guy.

"Now we can no longer dillydally. There's still a lot to do for tonight!" Cross your arms now and turn your nose up, just like Mom does when she's trying to get her point across to a date. "Lucky for you, I didn't stand around flapping my lips and was productive. Not only did I get us some balloons, I also got our first two guests! Now if only you'd paid attention, hopefully you don't accidentally turn them away at the door." You turn away from him, trying to think of your next plan.

"I need to prepare my birthday suit!" you exclaim, passing the remaining balloons over to a suddenly flustered Lawrence. "I must look amazing for tonight! What kind of reputation would I have if the hostess doesn't look as good as her party?" Out of the entrance, you walk aimlessly with him following behind as you try to think of possibilities for your outfit tonight.

You've gotta dress to impress, but you also have to keep your limitation in budget out of mind.

Someone not as confident as you might try to say to dress to your body type.

But you? Delilah, baby, you could pull off anything.

That is, if you can find something to wear. It'd probably be a lot easier if you at least knew how you should dress tonight...

It's a tough choice, it really is. Heck, someone like you could even pull off a David Bowie type of getup, the sky is barely a limit for you!

Unfortunately, you do have to make a choice. And today, that choice seems to be leaning towards a dress. Long and flowing, the hint of maturity and properness. Yes, you must become the best dressed hostess there ever was!

"We have to go find my dress now!" you announce to Lawrence, leading him away from the ticket booth of sin. He looks relieved when you say that you're wanting to get a dress, he probably agrees that it's a good idea too.

"Now, and I'm sure you've picked up on this by now, but even on my special day my wallet is kinda...lacking. Well I mean, I don't carry a wallet. But if I did, it'd probably be pretty empty." You wait at a bus stop, Lawrence towering behind you with cupcakes and balloons at hand. Mom is right, guys are great for carrying things.

"However!" you continue, "This won't stop me! No no no! I've been formulating a plan for this moment, I won't need to spend a cent for this." The bus arrives and you walk on, allowing Lawrence to deal with such petty matters as paying the fare. You take a seat and wait for Lawrence to come join you in the empty seat. A bus isn't really a suited method of transportation for someone like you, but if a dress if out of your budget so would be the appropriate limo or carriage ride. For now.

"Now, I know you're dying to know my grand plan. Well, that will have to wait till we get to our destination!" you cross your strangles empty arms, wondering if you're forgetting anything.

...

Not too much longer, you and Lawrence step out in front of a grand theater building.

"Tada~!" you walk towards it, arms outstretched as you show it off to Lawrence. "This is where I will be getting my birthday dress today!"

Lawrence looks confused, just as you grin as you prepare to explain the plan.

"I know you might be wondering why we're here, maybe you're thinking How are are going to get your dress here? Well, don't worry. You can be the pretty brawn in this and I'll be the brains. There's no productions running today, but the woman who owns this place is going to be inside all alone! That means it should be easy to-"

Both? In this order? Seems the most reasonale approach.

Anybody else get the feeling Lawrence is just waiting for this day to end so he can go to r9k and post a greentext story detailing all this and how manipulative women are already as little girls?
Which will get him called an autist beta faggot by the whole board, naturally.

"Now, the plan will go as follow. You're gonna go in, alright? And you're going to chat Ms. Sharron up, keep her occupied for a bit. Chat her up, I know how you're good at that. Nothing too much though, just enough for me to slip upstairs to the costume room. Then I'll sneak out, you follow behind, and wham bam- I got my dress. Sound good?" You refuse to move till Lawrence gives an indication that he was following along with the plan, earning a thumbs up.

It takes some shoving on your part, but Lawrence enters the building as you wait behind at the doors. You watch as he approaches the woman who runs this place, Ms. Sharron, who looks up from the front desk she sits at. Once it looks like she's occupied enough you slip in.

Tiptoeing up the stairs, you slink around looking for the dressing room. Yet another easy score, you slip inside easily without anyone being any the wiser.

The costume room is filled to the brim, it's a mess of colors and frills and leather and everything in between. It's a little overwhelming, if you want to be honest. But there's no time to stand around and be awestruck, there's work you need to do and who knows what kind of hussy Sharron might be!
>>
Now, while this room is full, you've come to realize most of what is stored in here looks like it belongs in a Peter Pan play rather than a party. But you're a persistent girl, and while you find some dresses here and there that might do, you finally lay eyes on the prize.

It's perfect, you decide, and waste no time slipping it on.

...

The dress looks nice, it really does. And you wouldn't be quick to say that it's you bringing down the quality of it...

But this had obviously been made for someone a bit more mature than you.
>Take it with and work on those sewing skills later!
>Girls are always stuffing their bras, right? Who says you can't do the same!
>Maybe one of those other dresses might be kinda okay...
>You should find an outfit for Lawrence while you're here!

Re evaluate taking a bunny suit.

It's either getting another dress or getting bigger boobs.

There is one vastly easier option, and that's the one we should take. Get a different dress.

Probably better then taking in the dress and returning it later to everyone's confusion. Maybe we can punk up one of the other dresses, though. Look cool AND mature.

It's not often that you call defeat on something like this, but the alterations to the dress would be really noticeable and you're not sure if there's enough tissues to properly fill in the chest. Not that you need a huge chest to look good- you could still pull off one of the less nicer looking dresses. Probably.

Trying not to be too petty, you replace the dress where it belongs and quickly try to find a new replacement.

...it fits. It's a bit boring, but it fits.

While you couldn't make up for your lack of a chest in the other dress, maybe you could at least make up for this one being boring.

There's no time to lament this though! There are still things on the list that must be done!

You step outside the door, prepared to sneak downstairs and-

"Are you one of the actresses?"

You nearly jump out of your skin, finding a boy younger than you standing outside the door.

"Erm, heeeey..." you say, closing the door behind you slowly. There must be more people here than you had expected. "Uh, and how are you?" Smooth Delilah, you know how to act under pressure.

"Ummm...I'm good. My name is Timmy, who're you?" He's kind of young, but you're kind of short on guests. Maybe you can get away with your outfit and add another name to your list.

"M-me? Uh, I mean..." you take a moment, preparing yourself to finally walk the walk. Lean back, cool pose, try to look like you're someone important.

"Why, I'm just the hostess for a little gathering tonight. Sure you've head about me, the whole town is talking about it. But in case you somehow didn't catch wind of it, my name is Delil-..." you stop to think about it. All those famous girls have cute names, something easy to say. Nothing like the boring sounding Delilah Esposito. "Del... Bunny. My name is Del Bunny, and I've chosen this lovely place to sponsor my dress for the evening."

Timmy looks up at your amazed, mouthing the word wow silently. "Are you um, famous?"

"Am I famous? Pfft, please..." Lean down to meet him at eye level, you've got to connect with the little people. "You think someone like me wouldn't be famous?"

"I ummm... I guess so."

"Don't worry Tim- can I call you Tim?- When you get older it might become more obvious. Or~ If you'd like to zone in on your, celebrity spotting skills, just head on over to my place tonight. I'm going all out, it is my special day after all, so you can expect that the best of the best will be there. And you can be there too, just come over to this address later and I'll see you there, 'kay?"

All Timmy can do it nod as you scribble down the address tonight, your heart beating from the thrill. Not only did you manage to pull off getting caught, you also got another guest for the party!

"Nice nice, my people will touch your people, yada yada, I'm afraid I must go to finish attending to my affairs. Don't uh, go mentioning my arrival here. No one must know where my outfit came from before my party, understand? It would ruin the surprise!"

"Oh, okay. I promise not to tell anyone."

"Great! Now, pretend you never saw me~" you keep him in your sights till you round the corner, pausing to try and calm the rapid beating.

You time you crawl back out to the front door perfectly, eluding the watch of Sharron. Standing out of the front doors once more, you stick your head inside and whistle. Lawrence perks up and heads back in your direction, but not before sliding over a small folded over note to the woman. And if you were to guess what was written inside, from your experiences of finding small folded over notes in Mom's purse, is that there's a phone number written in there.

"Excellent work, team! Excellent work!" you clap, announcing Lawrence's arrival out front. Without waiting for him to talk about his part of the mission you start to walk on, a rebel without a cause. Or a direction, or money. Or much of anything really. "We still have plenty left on the list, we gotta walk and talk."

You start to think that heading home would be a good idea for now, at least to drop off what you have so far. Wouldn't be too great to get your outfit dirty either, you might want to change.

"Ohmygoshsheneedshelp-" you start to tug on Lawrence's sleeve to make him follow, but the sound of a growing kerfuffle in the alley takes priority over proper planning. You dash to the noise, not even looking as you point back to your partner and tell him, "Remember you're my backup!"

The closer to the alley you get the more you can hear laughing, no doubt at the expensive of their poor victim. And the closer you get the more you begin to wonder if this was the right kind of plan, maybe you should have made Lawrence go in first-

Well it's too late, you're already at the alley.

"H-Hey...!" you shout, wondering if you feel out of breath from the run or the adrenaline. What if these are two thugs, and you're just making the situation worse? What if they have like, a knife or something? Jesus, what if they decide to slit you open ear to ear?

You look between them, a girl cowering back and her two attackers standing in front of her.

The two attackers who are both shorter than you.

"Oh thank god, you guys are all in elementary school..." you breathe a quick sigh of relief, feeling all the confidence quickly return as you stand up straight and proud again to look the boys down. "What do you guys think you're doing? Not only is it rude to behave like this around a girl, you guys are doing this two on one! How terrible of you!" With the girl cowered at the back of the alley with no escape, you stride over in an attempt to make her feel safer.

"Hey, she was the one who threw her weird smelling lunch at us. Why are you standing up for Marilyn anyways? She's so rude at school-" the boy is cut off by the girl, Marilyn.

"I threw it cause you guys kept making fun of my eyes! And then you made fun of my Poppy too!" Almost as soon as she calls out Marilyn shrinks back away, afraid to say anything else now as the boys glare at her. "My grandpa is a good man..." she mutters under breath, as if to let you know as she takes a small step behind you.

"Picking a fight with a girl is bad enough," you square your shoulders and puff out your chest, like in the movies. "But couldn't you bullies go find a fair fight somewhere else?"

The boys look between themselves for a moment and then the other one points at you, saying "Well, your older than us. We could always pick on you."

"What? No you can't!" Keep your stance, don't let them see the extreme panic you're in.

"Plus there's two of you now, so it's even."

"No wait, this doesn't count. You can't bully us!"

"We're gonna-"

They start to approach you in the menacing way only a young boy in a hoodie could accomplish. Marilyn grips the back of your jacket as you try to figure out how to handle this. You've never been in a fight before, how are you going to handle two people at once? Wait, do boys hit girls even like this? You thought that they were never supposed to do that. Not to mention you've never been hit before, what if it hurts? Don't panic, don't panic don't panicdon'tpanic-

And in a saving grace, the imminent threats are picked up off their feet by the collar as your brawn finally comes in.

"Hey- Let me go!" The boys can only struggle in Lawrence's grasp, and you give him a thumbs up in approval.

"Great work man! Now we should deal with these thugs-"

"Break their legs!" Marilyn calls out, still gripping you. "Or at least Charlie's. He's the worst."

"Don't do that Lawrence. Instead uh," you step forward toward the boys, feeling much safer and confident now. "Lets just give them a nice warning and then let them go. Cause not only is bullying wrong and they shouldn't do it, but you never know when the person you're bullying has a posse. Next time you try to pick on her like this, I don't know if I'll be able to stop my tall friend here from doling out some... retribution."

The glare Lawrence gives both of them before letting go only seals the deal, neither of them wasting a minute in scramming.
"The nerve of some people..." you shake your head, turning to look at the girl. "Are you like, okay and stuff? They didn't hurt you too bad or anything did they?"

"Not really... they shoved me around some... It's usually just name calling though..." Marilyn smooths hers dress and hair down before speaking again. "Um...thanks for saving me and stuff..."

"It's the least we can do." you say proudly, striking a quick pose. "But what are you doing out here all by yourself?"

"My Poppy- er, my grandpa- said that I could go down to the park. I don't really like going down there though..."

"What?! Why?"

"I don't really have any friends..." she admits rather meekly, "And then there's people like Charlie and his brother..."

"Well..." you drag out the word, gears turning in your head. "I'm sure no one would try to mess with you if you didn't have to walk around alone."

"Um, yeah..." Marilyn looks down dejected by this fact but you come in to pick her up again.

"But hey, if you wanna stick around us and go to a totally rad party tonight..." you gesture to between you and Lawrence, hoping she notices the carefully crafted outfit you've got on. "Just hang out with us. I'm pretty great and Lawrence can be too sometimes. Lot better than walking around trying to watch out for strangers."

"But aren't you guys strangers? You um..." Marilyn looks between the two of you, taking a good extra look up and down your birthday outfit. "You guys kinda look like the bad people in those videos they show at school..." The blow of her words hit both of you hard, even if neither of you try to show it.

"Th-That's very good teaching they've got there, and it's pretty good that you remember it. And while you should follow that advice um, we don't usually look like this- er well, I guess Lawrence would. I'm not like, 100% sure I just met him today and uh...been going around the city with him all day."

On one hand, you're glad that Marilyn is smart enough to not go off with just anyone.

On the other, you aren't sure how to feel about breaking that rule yourself.

"So you're uh, you're having a party?" Maybe you weren't too good at hiding the realization, because it feels like Marilyn is coming in to save you now. "What kinda party?"

"...oh! A birthday party- my birthday party. We're just out gathering supplies and you know it would be pretty nice to have an extra hand. How about it?"
Don't look desperate, whatever you do. Don't look like you need her to join, that you have very few guests, that this could be a disaster if she doesn't agree to come along.

You know, you're pretty great Delilah. Not only have you added another guest to the list, you've earned another helper to get the party together too. Even if you aren't too sure if she could do anything special like Lawrence can, you're sure there's something she can do. On the way back home, you explain some of your ideas and plans for the party to Marilyn. The closer you draw home the heavier the pit in your stomach grows, hoping your plans turn out just as good as you want them.

"Okay guys, this is just a quick trip here. We'll go in, drop everything off, and head out again okay?" you go over the plan for the fifth time now, keys in hand and leading the way down the floor. "And um, if my mom wakes up she might be kinda grumpy. She kind of gets like that when she's trying to sleep off a hangover, but don't be too loud and it'll be fine."

The other two hold back as you open the front door, taking a peek inside for Mom. All the lights are off and her keys are missing from the hook, which must mean she's gone out for now.

"Oh cool, come on in guys! Welcome to mi casa. Just find a place to set stuff and then I'll change clothes and-" you look towards Mom's room and remember one of your previous plans. "Oh and lemme take a look for those posters! Uh, go ahead and eat something if you guys want." You bounce over to her bedroom, Lawrence taking up the offer to raid the fridge. Now you're usually a good girl, you really are, but digging through Mom's things for party decorations is important.

Finally pulling it out from the back of the closet, you find a cardboard box with the word Photos written in her handwriting. Bringing it with, Marilyn stands readily available in the livingroom. you relinquish the box over to her, deciding this can be a test to her usefulness.

"I need to change clothes for now, can you work on getting some of these put up for me? Or at least, if they would look okay for a party."

"Ummm...yeah. Yes, I can do that." Marilyn struggles to keep her hold on the heavy box but she looks ready for the task. You leave her to her duties while you head back to your room to slip on something more comfortable.

With your outfit for tonight laying ready for later, you're ready to join the guests again when the phone rings. Without thinking much about it you answer.

"Hello?"

"Delilah? Are you back home?" At the sound of Mom at the other end you nearly drop the phone, quick to fix your grip on it.

"Y-Yeah, sorry about that. I just went out for a little bit an-"

"Do you have my wallet?"

Ah yes, the question you knew would end up coming up at one point or another. But just another part of your plan, you've already prepared for this.

"Y-Yes ma'am..."

A loud sign from Mom makes you cringe, "What did I tell you about digging around? I'm too far out to just run back and get it unless I... listen if you're going to go out again at least leave it on the table for me. I have to drop the phone now-" The background in her call sounds busy, you swear that there was even a dog yapping in the background, but you can't really guess where she would be right now.

You return the phone and head back to the living room, wanting to leave before Mom has a chance to come back. "How's that progress coming?" you ask Marilyn, who is sticking up a second poster on the wall. She steps back to view her work, then you, then back to her work.
>>
These weren't the type of posters you were expecting, not at all.

"Do...Do we leave them up?" Marilyn asks, just as awestruck as you.

"Is this uh, normal to have up at a party?"

"I don't know, it's your party."

"Right right, uh..."

>Leave them as they are. They make you look sophisticated.

"We should uh.." Your eyes dart away, wanting to alleviate your eyes from the rather uh, mature scenes displayed before you. Instead, lawrence comes into view and you decide to leave the decision up with the actual grownup in the room. "Hey Lawrence, could you be a dear and come over here? I um... I need your opinion on our decoration."

Of course he has no idea what to expect, finishing the sandwich he had made just in time to see your rather unique party posters.

"Now, I know they're a bit uh..." you flounder about for the right words, Lawrence staring just as shocked as you had been.

"...sexy." Marilyn says this like a swear, covering her eyes.

"Sophisticated. Museums are full of naked people, and people don't call those dirty. Besides it has this uh... bacha-...er, bachelorette feeling to it, it's wild and groovy and uh..." You can't think of anything else that wouldn't lead to more questions for you, looking up to Lawrence to try and gauge his response. Maybe he's speechless at the genius of this, who would expect it after all? Critics would call it a daring mood on your part, but that's okay isn't it?

That's right Delilah, you're breaking boundaries with this. Brilliant, they will call you brilliant for this! You'll look so cool for taking a risk like this, even if you have to keep from looking at the model's very familiar face too closely the whole time.

You don't know if you should feel relieved or disappointed when Lawrence springs forward to rip down the offending pictures in an attempt to help save your remaining innocence. Marilyn kicks the box with the remaining photos off to the side as he goes to throw them away.

"Wait not in there! Mom will see them!" you've already pushed luck with taking the wallet, you'd rather not have a conversation with her about this. Reluctantly, they get shoved into his pocket and you're glad to not be the only responsible adult here. "Thanks for that buddy, now we really shouldn't dillydally. mommightbehomesoon and we need to finish the list so if we could just go ahead and take the fast track out of here."

Don't leave them any time to ask questions about this, hurry them out before Mom comes.

"Good job so far team!" you congratulate them, stopping only after you've come a safe distance away from home. "We're almost ready for the party tonight! I think we just need to look for streamers now."

And guests, don't forget guests. But that can wait a little while longer- you'd rather not openly admit you don't have friends in this town.

"Where are we getting that from?" Marilyn asks, doing everything she can just to keep up with Lawrence's pace.

"Simple, we're going to head over to-"

"There's a school near by, right? We'll just go in and borrow some supplies for the party." Good plan Delilah, good plan.

"Borrow? Are you going to return them?"

"Probably not-"

"Isn't that stealing?"

"Whaaaaa? I would never steal. Besides um..." you look at Lawrence and then puff your chest out proudly, standing tall. "We pay taxes, and those go towards schools. So if you really think about it, I'm just getting the stuff I've already paid for."

"Oh, okay." Marilyn accepts the answer for just a moment, before adding "But I don't pay taxes. I don't even know what taxes are."

"That's easy," you chuckle, "Taxes is like, money you have to send in every spring and you get really angry cause you forget about it till the last minute. And then the government spends the money and no one is happy about it. Right Lawrence?"

Before you can get the rad approval from another adult, Marilyn starts to poke more holes in your plan. "Isn't this a high school we're going to? You know they're still in class right now, right?"

"What? But you and those boys-"

"Get out early on Fridays. The older kids have to stay the whole day."

"No problem! This isn't a problem at all. In fact that uh... just makes it easier to get inside if everything is unlocked. We'll just sneak in, find an art closet, and sneak out before anyone notices. Easy as cake." You are not going to let any more plans fall through. "And if they ask, we'll just act like we're supposed to be there."

"What about him?" Marilyn asks, pointing up at Lawrence. "I don't think he can sneak around very well."

"Easy easy, if we do somehow get caught then we will just explain that we're the teacher assistants to the new substitute teacher," you motion at Lawrence during this, "But we totally won't get caught, and we will be in and out before anyone can see us."

Um...okay. I guess so."

"Great! Now come on, no time to waste!" you march forward before the plan can be questioned again, keeping a wary eye on the dark clouds starting to roll in.

...

The full parking lot does nothing to daunt you, keeping your cool even as you peek in through the front door windows. Waiting for the last of the staff and students to clear the hall, you motion for the team to follow you inside.
>>
Catching sight of the office, you make sure to take the furthest path away. Marilyn keeps only half a step behind, and you can only trust that Lawrence is doing the same.

"Do you know where we're supposed to be-" Marilyn starts to whisper, but both of you leap into each others arms as a girl's voice calls out from down the hall.

"Hey, do you two have a hall pass? The redhead approaches, her student council sash hanging off her shoulder like a badge of authority. "Oh- wait, you two don't go here, right? You're like uh...what, middle school or somethin'? You guys one of the teacher's kids?"

"What's going on Jessica?" Another girl comes to join her, a similar sash hanging from her shoulder.

"Oh, hey Hanna. Just two kids in the hall." As Jessica says this you can't help but feel your heart break a bit. "You recognize them?"

"Umm, nope." With Hanna joining her and two sets of eyes staring you down, your legs are locked in place. "Which teacher are you guys with, or maybe you're looking for a student?"

"We, we, we-" Marilyn stutters, trying to remember what you had told her on the way here.

"W-We're the t-teaching a-assistance for one of the subs..." you say for her, looking for Lawrence. He rounds the corner, finally catching up, and you leap away from Marilyn to come at his side. With ever careful grace and precision, you slip out his wallet to peek inside. "You see, Mr uh..." you scan over his ID quickly, "Mr.. Mr Talbot! He's um, he's new and so we're just t-taking a look around the school..."

Jessica looks ready to grill you further, but Hanna speaks up as her thoughts snap into place. "Oh! Are you supposed to fill in for the art teacher? He had to leave early cause his wife went into labor I think, it was pretty short notice."

"Yes! Yes yes, Mr. Talbot is here to be the art sub." You breathe a sigh of relief as she motions for you guys to follow.

"Cool, we'll show you how to get there. You're on the wrong side of the building." As the two hall monitors walk before you in a sort of escort, you can't help but shoot a wide smile and thumbs up to the other two. Once again, your plan finds a way.

...

"Alright, here we go. The art room," Jessica points past the class inside, "I think one of the teachers went ahead and took roll. I guess you know what to do though. Just wave us down if you need any help." With a quick thanks your group walks in, feeling all eyes of the class as you do so.

You're ready to help introduce Lawrence to the class, but the word Storage sprawled on the door in the back catches your attention.

"We'll grab the supplies, you just pretend to be a teacher for a bit." you whisper to Lawrence, pushing him behind the desk. He hesitantly picks up a piece of chalk, but you don't wait to watch. Dragging Marilyn close behind, you guys rush behind the much older teens and into the safety of the art storage room.

You nearly choke up at the sight of the filled room, feeling like you've stumbled upon a treasure.

"What are we grabbing?" Marilyn asks, wide eyed.

You scan over the tall shelves, pushing an empty box into Marilyn's arms as you start to grab the targeted items.

"We can use these for streamers," you explain, tossing in rolls of colorful paper. "And let's see what else is here..." You snoop around the room more, eyes falling on the ultimate prize. Nearly as tall as you are and slumped in the corner, you find what will obviously be the perfect banner for the party. With a heave, you lug it up on your shoulders, ready to make your escape now. With Marilyn carrying the box, you try to step out of the storage room without letting anyone see you carrying off with supplies.

Up front, Lawrence has assumed his job well. All the students have theirs eyes glued to the board as he completes his masterpiece in chalk. Once finished he turns to face the class, letting the picture speak a thousand words for him.

Of course you can't help but prematurely show off the prize from the supply room, motioning next that he should follow behind soon. As one student begins to stutter out his question about the lesson it creates the perfect opportunity for escape, waiting right outside the door for the last of your team to regroup.

"This thing is huge!" you say, staring down at the banner. It's difficult to keep rolled up though, just a bit too heavy and wieldy for you for carry properly. "Shoot, do you have anything we can tie this with? I don't want it dragging in the street."

"Oh yeah, um just be careful with it..." Marilyn says, undoing the bow from her hair. Waiting for it, you can't stop smiling wide.

"Isn't he so cool?" you say, hugging the banner.

"Hm? Who?" she hands the ribbon over.

"Lawrence! There's been a few times where I was worried that I didn't choose the smartest guy for the job, but he's actually been a doing a pretty alright job so far." You can only hope to be so capable as him whenever you get older, not that you don't do an amazing job already. Cause after all, you have to admit that you're a pretty cool person Delilah.

Though you could be doing better.

As you tie up the banner, Marilyn watches with a blank expression over her face. In a flash, an almost sinister grin comes across her face as she says, "I bet you think he's so cool cause you like him."

"What do you mea-"

"I bet you totally like like Law!" she's teasing you, but with a smirk and pompous tone you never expected out of her.

"And why are you a-asking...?" you watch the corner of her smile drop for a second, only to come back even wider than before.

"Cause I'm gonna tell him~"
