"Black Hearts. Cold Steel. Dark Deeds."

These are the words of the Black Company, the infamous band of mercenaries that has been on one side or the other of every major conflict on the continent since its founding.
The Company has seldom cared who they fight for or the cause so long as they are paid, and paid well, when the killing work is done. Though they may be considered by some to be little more than glorified brigands, it cannot be said that the Black Company is not good at what they do.

Recently the Company has taken up a contract with a new employer, one more powerful than any that have come before. An employer with endless ambition, as well as the means and lack of moral scruples needed to pursue it. An employer that pays well...

THE TIME HAS COME, AND SO HAVE I
>>
>>1280388
You are Lieutenant 'Prince'. A seasoned NCO of the Black Company that, through a cruel twist of fate, found yourself landed with an officer's commission. Now you find yourself in command of the 7th Kiregstrom Shocktroopers, a position with more responsibility and scrutiny than you ever wanted.

7th Kriegstrom Platoon
Comprised of the most well-armed and armoured troops, 7th Platoon offers the meanest, fiercest and, given the mortality rate, dumbest soldiers to be found in the Black Company. A more bizarre collection of fighting men and women has likely never been seen. Down-on-their-luck heroes with a magic swords and brooding pasts like Cairsun; escaped slaves with a penchant for magik like Nissar; disgruntled veterans of the Nuemunster Legions like Corporal ‘Jack’ Marcus; Scarred Wildborn ‘Smiles’ (because fighting is really all a Wildborn knows); aging Skald huscarls like Hirstun of Ligh that should have retired long ago. You even have a mute rotten undead warrior, ‘Mask’, which is one even you haven’t heard before. Nevermind the fekking Dragon.

They’re your men (and women). Mercenaries, that kill for money. Warriors, with the right degree of pride and stubbornness. Soldiers, that fight for the man next to them. You never wanted this position, deciding who dies where. Dark Father knows it’s only a matter of time before you get them all killed.

Recap
Following the fall of the Neumunster city of Sarsburg several weeks ago, your Employer has sent his unholy host spread throughout the entirety of the western and northern reaches of the Neumunster Nation. While the main part of the Company and the undead went west to Oxenfurt Bridge, you were tasked with the seizure of the northern town of Kresden.

You've done that. And better yet you've taken it almost entirely intact, protecting both buildings and inhabitants alike from the violence (sort of) and the unsavoury attentions of your own reinforcements (mostly). And now the whole of what's left of Northern Nuemunster stretches before you undefended. It's time to project force from your secure town and bring the crumbling 'Empire' to heel.

The Infantry, Ranger and Kreigstrom Platoons follow your command. The Cultist Demagogue has left his forces in your hands, theTurncoat Prince has given you the nod and the Tassenland boys will probably do whatever they were told semi-competently with a bit of instruction. That just leaves the Vampire Coven to have their leashes pulled, and today's dress parade in full view of all the town and your allies provides the perfect opportunity to do that.

Oh, and did we mention that you possessed a fekking Dragon?!

Kresden Town Square, shortly after dawn

“Fek this.” Trooper ‘Joker’ Schuster grimaces, shifting her weight slightly as she stands in formation. “Taking the watch at an ungodly hour for a sparrow’s fart worth of sleep and then this? Fekking parade? Not even bloody payday.”

”It’s not a pay parade?” Trooper Vendis Durvano murmurs with a suddenly anguished expression.

”No, it’s bloody not. Why are we even here? Town square is full of us idiots on parade and more fool townspeople staring at the idiots. Because that’s what people who get up this early to stand around for fek all are. Idiots.” ‘Joker’ tilts her head at the sorry-looking Tassenland formation opposite them. If you could even call that gaggle a formation. ”Am I wrong, or is that country boy holding a stick?”

”I think it’s meant to be a spear. Poor bastard doesn’t have the blade-tip on top.” The ex-pirate mutters, also curious. He’s looking at a recruit even more lacklustre in equipment, this one short a pair shoes. He winces at the wraps that fail to conceal the lad’s blistering sores, at least at sea you didn’t have to bloody walk everywhere.

”You know what they call a spear without a spearhead, Durvy?” The burned scar-tissue under the Trooper’s helm crinkles.

”What?”

”A fekking stick, you moron.”

”Fek you. And don’t call me Durvy.”

”Rhymes with scurvy. And I charge extra for ugly.”

”…Prick.”

”At least one of us has one then.” ‘Joker’ whispers the last line, mindful of the looming figure of the Lieutenant coming up between the ranks. Or led more like, Trooper ‘Saint’ seems to be almost pushing him along with her hand behind his back.

[1/2]
>>
>>1280479
”What’s up with the boss?” She asks softly in a low voice.

Durvano starts to shrug then, remembering that he’s supposed to be at attention, thinks better of it and remains still.

”Dunno, matey. This was supposed to be some big hoo-hah with the bloodsuckers remember? Maybe he’s shitting himself over that bloomin’ Dragon.” Vendis remembers something with a grin. ”Wasn’t that your idea? Getting a Dragon at the Palace? Should have gone for the fekking Gold, I tells ya. Gold’s never eaten anyone, has it?”

The reluctant career-landlubber glances at his mate, noticing her apparent discomfort.

”Ar, don’t ye worry, matey. The Cap-, er, Sir has always seen us through. He’ll not be done in by some lizard with an attitude.”

Trooper Caroline ‘Joker’ Schuster grunts non-comittantly, her eyes plastered on the broad armoured shoulder of Lieutenant Prince, his black cape shuffling despite the lack of wind. It’s not the Dragon that scared her. The Lieutenant wasn’t displeasing to look at, times were she’d have taken a roll in the hay with him if he’d been so inclined. Grim, hardbitten and a bit brooding at times but she liked that in a man. Always had a thing for bad boys, part of why she left home in the first place. Like that Lord Lorgia guy posturing up front with the other hooded fang-faces. Can they even go down on a girl with those chompers? Meh, ‘Joker’ was willing to forgive a few obstacles when looking at his chiselled jaw, pleasing musculature and smoky bedroom eyes.

”Stupid, sexy vampires…” She grunts, momentarily distracted from her line of thought.
There was something else about the Lieutenant though. A darkness about him, and it certainly wasn’t just the fekking uniform. Her Ma had once said women could sense these things, you could gauge whether a man was the striking type if he had the drink in him. That was a load of bollocks, Ma had gone and married Da hadn’t she? Shows what she fekking knew. The boss was different, he had this demeanour. Like he –always- wanted to hit something, drink or no, but he was just holding back for now. Even if he tried not to let it show. That thing with ‘The Snake’… Schuster shivers involuntarily. He had it coming but shitting hell…

Still, he was the boss, and ‘Joker’ Schuster would do what she was fekking well told. She didn’t have to like it, or him, for that to remain the case. And it’s not like she wouldn’t bitch about her job either way, that was a guarantee. Better the Daemon you sort of know than the one you don’t. Hence the reason that the vampire bitch Lady Lorgia’s behaviour, poking the bosses’s helmeted forehead with her fan as she rants on about the very-absent Dragon, riled Trooper Caroline ‘Joker’ Schuster up something fierce.

Rule number one, and even Schuster knew this, never hang your dirty laundry out in the open. If you have a beef with your peers you sort that shit out behind closed doors. Quiet-like, politely. With sharp objects if necessary. Not out in front of every townsperson and their grandmother.

The Lady Lorgia won’t shut up about how ‘she knew a mortal could never tame a Dragon’ and ‘pitiful bloodbags should know their place’ or ‘my skin is so great because I moisturise using infant blood’. And then the bloodsucker shoves LT Prince and he stumbles back, Saint struggling to hold him up.

”Well now, that’s just un-fekking-professional. Ya bloody bint.” With her hand clenched tightly on the hilt of her Zweilhander, ‘Joker’ barely even noticed the sudden shadow that blanketed the town square.

For the first couple of seconds Trooper 'Joker' simply assumed that the vampire woman in front had been somehow hit by something flung from a trebuchet.

----------------------------------------------------

[2 SUCCESS]

The structural damage to the building you clipped on the way in was minimal. It’s not like that Kresden family –needed- a roof that badly. The gust of wind that heralds your arrival outdoes some storms, sending three Tassenland troops flying into a foodcart and one very unlucky cat thrown clear off a third-story balcony.

The full span of your black wings blots out the sun in most of the market square, a terrifying blackness compounded by the earth itself trembling at your momentous (if a little awkward) landing.

”HHHRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Only Three hundred and four figures on parade didn’t flinch at your arrival and thunderous challenge. Three hundred and three of them were undead skeletons, so you guess that doesn’t count, then there was ‘SGT ‘Bad Hand’ Hadrien. You always knew he had more than a few screws loose but he’s halfway to ecstatic as the prospect of a Dragon-rampage.
Your serpentine neck rears up over Lord Lorgia and the rest of his coven, paler than usual even for a bunch of bloodsuckers. You bare your teeth and growl.

Underneath one of your massive fore-talons you feel something squirm feebly. It feels gross.

The Vampires are too prideful to consider a long term servitude deal, but as far as everyone else is concerned you are King Shit of Fek Hill.

”BLACK HEARTS. COLD STEEL. DARK DEEDS.”

The cultists, Tassenland recruits and Ajiyimad mecs are staring in amazement at the fire-breathing death monster’s grasp of the common tongue. A Dragon serving in the Black Company? That is true power.

”Ho. Lee. Fek.” The muttered cuss, a familiar voice you recognise, spills into the cacophonous silence left after your growled statement. Even your own Company is staring at you agog.

A shocked Tassenland lad drops his stick with a clatter and that almost seems to act like a signal. Lord Lorgia twitches involuntarily at the sound… and then he and the rest of the coven bend the knee before you. His arms extended either side of him, Lord Lorgia keeps his eyes cast down before you. ”What is thy bidding, my Master?”

You note that he bows to your human body, not the Dragon. Does he sense your control? In hesitant groups the Tassenland recruits start to bow as well. The old you would have found that immensely embarrassingly. This new you…kinda likes it. And you’ve kind of got the hang of this ‘double body’ experience to the point where you can speak from either if you are close and focus enough.

There is still something squirming underfoot. Removing your fore-leg reveals a much flatter Lady Lorgia. Vampire’s don’t hurt the same as humans, but breaking every single bone In her body has clearly made an impression here. Both literally and figuratively.

”She will recover in time, Master, a few days of rest and regular feeding will see her restored.”

Sorry but that kind of attitude doesn't fly when you're responsible for people like being a commander.

Anyways. If we ARE going to be nice to her like that let's at least make it because we see some use in her . . . Like forcing her to be our Vampire Liason and personal attendant.

Whom we will force to do paperwork.

And also it'll look good to have another monster under or direct command. If we can work on dominating her as well then we can have a spy in the Vampire ranks.

I mean we've already literally crushed her dissent.

It’s weird watching your body speak.

”See to your sister, then report to the Manor."

Lord Lorgia remains kneeling as he clicks his fingers for two thralls to come forward and drag, or scoop, the mangled remains of his sister. As he rises he makes eye contact with you.

”You are most merciful, Master.”

If there is any hint of anger, hurt pride or unchecked ambition in those eyes he’s doing a good job concealing it.

You feel Asgorga No capitals for the motherfekker now! in the back of your mind. Not begging, even the most abjectly defeated Dragon would never beg. But there is a ‘whinning’ tone to his requests to resume control over his magnificent body.
You can’t remain an officer like this unfortunately. And to be honest this is mentally exhausting. You don’t think you could fly straight if you tried to take off now, let alone coordinate and strategize a war meeting. As fun as flight and having the strength to peel a knight in full plate like a fekking orange has been… It’s time to return to your own body.

Before you leave though, your mental form grabs Asgorga by the meta-physical equivalent of the scruff of the neck and leaves some parting words.

Nobody wants to hear about boot okay?

Also is this a boy dragon or a girl dragon?

Can we make Saint tutor Asgorga since she's concerned about their upbringing?

> Kid, Legless Jenny, our dogman dude, and Asgorga are all getting tutored by Saint to learn reading and writing.

> Lady Legalia teaches Math.

> Cultist Bro teaches science (agrees to hit on Saint)

> White Bitch is handling martial training

> We make the dragon attend all the same classes and even give them the same desk as the others.

> Punishment detail is transcribing for the dragon.

> People are WTFing but nobody stops us because we have a Dragon, a Wolfman, and a Vampire Bitch all up on our dick.

Meh it's just because the genre is applied to everything

Like I can already see a couple of plot lines.

> Trio of Rangers join the class to stalk Kid

> There's a naive classic Farmboy Hero from the Auxiliaries who is in love with Saint so he joined

> Legless Jenny getting REALLY into mad science/magic with the cultist because she lost her goddamn legs and wants new ones - and then better ones - and then fancy going out legs.

> a couple regular troopers join to be background filler and because they can't read

> A child vampire is forced to join to try and figure out what we're doing. He is constantly angry about this. Especially since Saint keeps warding him hen he disrupts the class.

> Bad Hand is the morals and guidance counselor. Even if he was going to mind-break and/or eat you given the chance, you do have to feel a little sorry for the Dragon. Must be a bewildering experience for your whole alpha predator existence to come crashing down in the face of one mortal with a little rank.

” Hey Trooper, I know we had some tough times back there, but I just want you to know that I’m here for you. And I will be joining you in here –again- only if you go and decide to do some fekkin insubordination again. So lets not do something we both regret. Do you get me, Trooper?”

Asgorga is silent for a lot longer than you find comfortable, you begin to ready yourself for a round two.

”I –said- Do. You. Get me?”

”I ‘get’ you. We will… obey.” Says Trooper Asgorga.

”…Good.”

Who the fek would have ever guessed that you would one day have a Dragon. And now that Dragon does what it is fekking told.

That’s going to come in handy.

Kresden Manor, Midday

Tassenland capitulated. Borr razed to the grown. Kresden was the key to the Northern Neumunster provinces, the last walled town between you and the now distinctly unguarded realm. And now it’s yours.

This isn’t about taking and holding ground, the plan was to seize Kresden and holding it remains your primary objectives. What this is, is projecting force. Letting the people of Neumunster know that nowhere is safe, the Necromancer’s arm reaches everywhere and they better choose the winning side before they join the dead anyway. If you can hit even a few of these targets the people will know who this land belongs to now.

Your various sub-lieutenants, seniors NCOs and independent commanders are all pouring over the main dining table in the Manor. Over it a detailed map of Northern Neumunster is laid out, places of interest marked and estimated garrison strengths represented by everything from little chess pieces to a broken teacup.

You can select more than one to find out more on, just place them in priority with the one of most interest to you going on the top.

Ambushing a moving force, especially with dragon/cultists/vampires/us sounds like a good way to get some easy fear going, diminish the capacity of the enemy to project force to aid any of their other options, and loot armaments.

>”Prince Sabn-Ibn-Abad, you spoke to me of an Albani Workshop set up near here…”
Good to get on a better foot with the prince, and get some better gear for the company, siege equipment?, and outfit our tassenland greenies.

Keeps us fed, compounds problems with enemy movement and refugees, and if seizing them is too much of and issue (which would be nice, "Hey starving person, join us we have food.") we always have a dragon to do a fly-by-famine.

Hmmm, seems like the refugee camp and fort have alot of interest too. The fort seems a nice way to bleed the enemies going near it (without having to fight fair, aka having a wall) if it can be captured without a great effort. Otherwise it has less appeal to me. Mind you its the sort of thing that if "They're on maximum alert and have bolted up" we can just turn around. The refugee camp seems like it'd be a big liability to the enemy anyway if we can get their foodstuffs from the granaries. After all hungry people don't care about perfectly reasonable circumstances, they just care about not starving to death and will riot/defect. Sure the vampires and cultists don't get as much, but if things go well there will be more than enough figurative and literal blood for them anyway. I'm probably wrong about alot of this though so a pinch of salt and all that.

>FORT CASCA
>SUCCESS: Remove the Skaldish Assault Wave in 'The Big One'

”Corporal Hirstun, this river the Skald’s are coming down. There’s a fort here that overlooks it…”

“Yes, sir. That’s the Hāastweiser River here.” The old war dog runs his finger down a faded blue line on the map. ”It feeds in from the Skaldish Isles, down through the entire Northern Coast and straight on halfway to Sarsburg. The Skalds have been using to launch raids on Neumunster heartlands for as long as there have –been- Skalds. Only now they’re using it to get reinforcements to the front in days where it would normally take weeks.”

”You would think the ever industrious Neumunster would prepare for such a regular misfortune, no?” Prince Sabn-Ibn-Abad strokes his chin thoughtfully

”We did.” The ex-Legionnaire CPL ‘Jack’ Marcus grunts, tapping a symbol halfway downriver. ”Fort Casca funnels the river into a series of dams and artificial streams that, at a moment’s notice, can be raised to cut off the Hāastweiser entirely. On top of that it's a beautiful building, designing to be both defensible and pleasing to the eye. It’s a marvel of technology, the peak of Neumunster ingenuity and craftsmanship.”

CPL ‘Jack’ Marcus beams proudly as he says that last part before spotting the glances between everyone at his out-of-odds patriotism.

”What? It is. That’s all I’m saying…”

”It was a pain in our fekking arse during the Northern Coast Campaign I’ll tell you that.” CPL Hirstun of Ligh snorts. ”From the riverbank it’s nearly impossible to assail. A half-dozen slack-jawed yokels could hold it. From this side on the land though…”

>Manzer Pass: Free Alliance Column Ambush
>SUCCESS: One less Neumunster Wave. -20DC to Elven Covering Fire rolls before each assault during ‘The Big One’.

”You there, what’s-yer-face, Doblin.” SGT ‘Bad Hand’ points at the nervous looking Tassenland Lieutenant.

”I-um, Dollin, sir, It’s Liuetenant Dollin.”

”Don’t call me sir, boy, I work for a living!”

”Oh! Sorry sir!”

You and ‘Bad Hand’ exchange a look. If the idea of you making officer was far-fetched then this is just downright ridiculous… He’s a scrawny looking thing in his ill-fitting green uniform that looks not much older than Trooper Kid. The starting wisps of a blonde moustache are just –barely- becoming. He’s at the stage where an adult would keep it shaved but someone his age wants to leave it and see if he can grow a beard yet. At least he –has- evidence of being of the age for starting to grow it. Most of his subordinates are much younger.

”Alright, Lieutenant Dollin. Tell me about this Free Alliance column.”

”Um, yes, right. Before the, uh, agreement between our Lordship and… and You-Know-Who… we were expecting reinforcements moving in from the West. What’s left of the Neumunster Legion XII and an Elven Patriotic Arbalest Detachment.” The young officer speaks shamefacedly. ”They must not have received word of the uh, change in circumstances, because we received a dispatch of their lastest positition and request for an update on how well we were holding out so far.”

”Heh heh heh, they’re going to be fekking disappointed I reckon.” CPL ‘White Bitch’ Tara guffaws, nodding at the map. ”That spot there. If they’re coming in from the West we can catch them flat-foot through the Manzer Pass. And then fek them so hard they’ll call us daddy.”

”Oooh, you’re right.” SGT ‘Bad Hand’ ”We get them in there and they are going to have one bad bloody day alright.”

>SUCCESS: Triple Strength of both Vampire Strike Force and Cultist positions during ‘The Big One’
>If Vampires assigned = Auto-success

”Bloodknight Lorgia. Tell me about this refugee camp you mentioned.”

The Vampire dips his head in deference. A little sycophantic for your taste but you prefer it to their previous attitude.

”Of course, sire. None of the Free Alliance nations are safe any longer. Here in Neumunster the commonfolk scurry before our Dark Lord’s might, In Chevalisse they scramble to avoid be trod under the boots of the Warlord’s hosts and in Hellenwood they flee the rapacious Wild. A vast number of displaced folk have gathered in a valley not too far from here. Hordes of terrified men too weak to fight, along with their tearful women and mewling whelps. They have nowhere else left to run.

The Vampire licks his lips hungrily.

We have eaten well along the road, but such a feast as this? After feed of that magnatidude, my kind remains so very strong. The sun does not burn, swords do not cut as they one might and our speed is unmatched. And of course, the worthy join our ranks. Though I imagine such pickings will be slim with mostly women and children on the menu.”

Behind you Trooper Saint looks like she’s going to be physically sick. But she doesn't say a word.

Demagogue Jale sits up slightly from his comfortable slouch on a side chair. ”I’m actually with Lorgia on this one. While I understand there may be reservations over such a… ‘brutal’ action, the boon from this is cannot be understated. Once the Vampiric folk are done with their feast with the corpses raised we would virtually have a new army overnight.”

>Success [+5DC Equipment Upgrade for Black Company units, 1d6 (out of 6) Albani Warmachines break down before ‘The Big One’]

”Prince Sabn-Ibn-Abad, you spoke to me of an Albani Workshop set up near here…”

Naam, Sadiq. There’s an Albani Guildworks a few villages over, looks like they had enough of the war at home and set up shop here. The glint in the exiled Prince’s eye lets you know the irony is not lost on him. ”Apparently it’s the biggest one outside of Albani itself, and most of those are in ashes now anyway. Fully capable of refitting a MK V Armoured Personnel Suit from scratch and any necessary repairs. Or so their pamphlets posted on the Theatre say."

The Free Alliance has Albani Warhmachines?” You ask, not a little alarmed. You saw those at work in the Albani campaigns, both of them, and you never wanted to be on the wrong side of that monstrosity.

”Albani is technically part of the Free Alliance.” The Turncoat Prince reminds you, then he shrugs. ”But truth is last I heard their forces were still stubbornly trying to retake what’s left of their homeland. I doubt there are more than a handful left anywhere.”

*hawk* LT ‘Hawk’ of the Infantry Platoon spits inside a vase you do not think was designed for spitting in. ”Don’t forget it’s not just their little gadgets and repair work, Albani work is damn fine stuff for a soldier to have. Getting our hands on some Albani Runeplate would put our men in a pretty good place.”

You would have a massive amount of 'cultists' that are just civilians and know fuck all then. Even if you press-ganged them into it, most would desert as soon as they got the chance. That's fine, but you would not get the Success reward of a massive boost to the Vampire and Cultist forces.

You look around the room at each of your officers and NCOs in turn as they discuss battle tactics, logistics and argue on the best approach to each objective.

People follow you, they have since a young age. Even in the Orphanage children even in the older years would follow your lead in many things, look to you as an example. Not necessarily a good example but still… You can see it in their eyes here, almost every man and woman would follow your orders to the letter without question. Well, not ‘Bad Hand’ but he hardly counts. This only helps if you know what to fekking do with that sort of belief in your ability. They’ll do what you say.

I'm surprised you guys are all 100% the Massacre. Not from Prince's perspective obviously, but I had been thinking Saint might have rubbed off on him a little.
>>
>>1282582
Them dying keeps our guys from dying.

Believe me, in exchange we're going to make the vampires work for it.

I'm down with saving some children though.
>>
>>1282573
Hear me out here:

Seizing a fort is ideally suited for a shock infantry force such as ours.

Ambushing the column is critical. Have the cultists and the Ajis block off each end of the pass. Rangers fire from above. No survivors.

Looting the workshop is nice but not critical. Send in our infantry to make sure that the loot goes to the Black Company.

And of course Dragon will make sure that all granaries are properly BURNINATED.
>>
>>1282595
>>1282582

Also success rates aren't good enough to justify giving up an auto-win.
>>
>>1282582
As long as they try to not kill all the children, just leave them huddling as they watch their family be killed by vampires then reanimated.
That probably isn't as bad.
Look at Jenny, she has no legs and she's fine.
>>
>>1282582

> Just saying, it might be more efficient to catapult the undead children into their ranks.

Or put no makeup on them and stage it as if they were running away and got slaughtered, only to "activate" them when they were I'm the middle of enemy troops.
>>
>>1282639
Or have them sneak attack the enemy forces from behind? I bet Undead child soldiers can be sneaky sneaky.
>>
considering the way the Ajiyimad Mercenaries reacted to the cultists trying throw the drummer boy/girl into the pit I get the feeling if we go ahead with the refugee massacre we will end up pissing them off, and honestly just because OP gives you an option doesn't mean you should take plus giving the vamps too much power is a bad thing. the vampires get triple strength modifier from this I have no doubt in my mind that it will end with major repercussions from that bonus

I'm just a naive little QM in a big grown up world, but I do understand that people live in different timezones. That's what I prefer to believe anyway.

For those worried about samefagging the Vamps out of their 100-course-meal, worry not. I will bring that to a vote later. Anons seem all fine and good with an emotionless decision to slaughter thousands of defenceless smallfolk and then slather their undead children in makeup (what the father, dude).

The final decision on this will be very interesting to write out. I have to head to class in a bit, but I shall be posting later today.

-----------------------------------------

So far what I have locked in is:

>Fort Casca
7th Kriegstrom [Direct Control]

>Ambush at Manzer Pass
Dragon 80%

>Albani Workshop
4th Infantry and 2nd Rangers 83%
It was a little divided on -who- to send but most agreed to send at least two units.

>Hold Kresden
Tassenland Recruits Auto-success. They can't possibly fek that up right?

>Granaries
Cultists and Ajiyimad Mercenaries 83%
Again, divided on exactly who but definitely a majority agreement to send at least two.

------------------------

The only thing in major contention is the Vampires and whether they should be sent to Camp Haven or the Abbey of the Mother.

Obviously, as creatures of darkness, they're going to go about either of them in a fairly brutal way but Camp Haven would be something sinister to witness indeed. The bonus of Camp Haven's destruction will strictly be speaking more crucial to the mechanical aspects of the battle, there's no denying that. There is, of course, a price for that and I don't just mean the unreliability of your Vampire subordinates.

I will follow this up a little later for a vote.

I say Cultist and Rangers simply because The Ajiyimad Prince dude sounds interested in the workshop and his mercenaries seem to have bad blood with the cultist, but who doesn't ehh?
As for the vampires, i say that simply because i don't want us to be ostracised by the others because we went full on the darkfather route. On the otherhand maybe with the sacriface of the refugees we could ensure as little deaths for our Company(which would make "Bad Hand" like us again), and we would become something like an edgier "Bad Hand" that everyone is fekking scared(not that people aren't scared of the regular "Bad Hand"). Hmmm, something like a black knights? Maybe a silent guardian, a watchfull protector or some other shit like that idc

>>
>>1284374
No to massacre.
The loyalty of the Vamps is at best a "for now" thing. Buffing them is retarded.

The refugees can be a neat little problem of the nearing alliance armies. Espicially without their granaries. More mouths for them to feed.

Let the vamps nom some priests or something. The fempire wanted to nom our priest before, it could serve as a bit of a motivation.

You make an excellent point with regards to the Workshop. The Ajiyimad are kind of technologically ahead of the rest of the human nations, tinkering with Gunpowder where everyone else. Ajiyimad and 4th Infantry swapped. +5% Success bonus to Ajiyimad on the Albani Workshop mission.

Since I’m not using the same spot, I can’t use those neat QM tools anymore. Oh well. I will call the vote after class finishes in a couple of hours.

----------------------------------------------------------

The room is surprisingly loud as your officers discuss the objectives together and with their own subordinates, available resources and potential pitfalls.

”Sir, you’re needed in the study room.” Saint keeps her head bowed, avoiding your look as you pause in between discussing viable approaches to countering Albani warsuits with Emir Tofuz and Sabn-Ibn-Abad as well as listening to Demagogue Jale’s ‘exciting’ idea to merely tamper with the grain slightly rather than destroy it. The exiled Prince has no love for the cultists, but then again neither does their own leader Demagogue Jale… perhaps that explains why they can stand to be in the same room as each other even if conversation is terse.

”Bloody paperwork, eh?” You grin at those in earshot, receiving a few chuckles in return. Seems like it is the bane of the officer-class everywhere.

You know damn well even before Saint closes the door behind you in the side study that you’re not here for paperwork.

”You can’t do this. Sir.”

”I can’t do what?”

”These people have done –nothing- to you. You can’t order their murder and- and desecration!”

”The people of Sarsburg did nothing to me. Those Tassenland boys I murdered did –nothing- to me. The town of Kresden did –nothing- to me. Doing nothing to me, and doing nothing –for- me gets them…” You open up your empty gauntlet, sweeping it front of you. ”Nothing.”

”This isn’t the same. You didn’t mean to- It’s one thing to kill armed folk and… and I’m beginning to understand that you can’t help it if sometimes innocent people die when carrying out the mission. I get that. I do. But this?” Saint’s own gauntlets clench as she shakes her head. ”You’re going out of your way to doom these people. You’re –targeting- them, and that’s… I can’t even… how can you possibly…”

”Saint. Do you understand that at least twice as many will die from us destroying the granaries? The Free Alliance armies will starve, yes, but the smallfolk will starve first. And the refugees? Those poor fekkers that don’t have anything squirreled away for themselves? They’ll starve the worst.” For a moment you get a distant look in your eyes, you remember what the once beautiful city of Far Sut Rus was like once the food ran out. How little it took for the worst in folk to come out. The worst in you. ”You ever seen cannibalism first hand? I’m not talking about You ever seen a mother peel her own skin and boil it to feed her child? Killing these folk now would be-”

>>
>>1285226
*I'm not talking about stories of sacrifices in far off Rakasha Raj. I mean civilised people gone made with hunger. Less than animals."

---------------------------

[2/3]

”Don’t say it. Don’t you fekking say it’s a mercy, Prince.” It’s only the second time you’ve ever heard the normally demure Trooper Saint swear. You wonder if ‘White Bitch’ is a bad influence on her in that regard. ”It’s not your fekking place to grant them ‘mercy’, you don’t know how this will play out if our side wins. You don’t know what will happen to them if we lose either. It’s not your place, damn you!”

This is going too far. You’ve always been a little lax with Trooper Saint despite the difference in rank. Maybe it’s because you find her attractive, maybe it’s because you feel like you owe her or see something in her. Or maybe some part of you wishes she was right, that there’s still room left for redemption. Or if not redemption, then maybe a slight evening of the score, however little you can. But for some reason whatever it is, you breathe deep and give her a chance instead of rebuking her and slapping her down with some insubordination charges.

”Alright then, Trooper. Give me something. I’m not doing this because I like it, I’m doing this because it puts us on the –winning- side. And the winning side is the side that stays alive.”
Perhaps not so much in this case given you work for the Necromancer, but it still rings true for the Company.

”I… I held my vigil at this Abbey that Lieutenant ‘Hawk’ was talking about. The Heigelen, the Paladins of the Bloody Rose… all united in prayer and devotion. One purpose, to protect the artefact. It’s real. The Tears of the Mother, shed over the broken body of the Father when he was cast down for his defiance. Just standing guard in the room I could feel her –love- for him… her sorrow…”
Saint blinks back tears at the memory. Happier days for her, you’re sure. You can tell that next words do not come easy. It’s not the first, or even second time you’ve brought this woman to tears. The Empathetic Idealist and the Ruthless Cynic, your worldviews could hardly be more opposed.
”I know the strengths of the Honour Guard, I know the secret ways in… If you let these people go… I’ll tell the Vampires everything I know. Please.”

You remain silent for a long, long time. You gain more from massacring these refugees, that much is true. The math's is simply better, even to you. You would almost double your strength with the blood-gorged vampires and raised corpses.

As your other option you have this Abbey. A few monks and holy warriors, a whole lot of trouble for a symbolic demoralisation and... some trinket of the Gods?

You stand to gain a better position by ordering the massacre. But... will you lose something so much more? Maybe not. Maybe you lost that something a long time ago. The things you've done to see your brothers and sisters stand a better chance of seeing out the day... You've done just as bad in the past, if not worse, it's just a matter of scale this time.

Hurray for child murder!

I agree to all of this EXCEPT for the Tassenland Recruits to hold Kresden, because you know what else is in Kresden: the Heir to Neumunster. We have to leave some capable people behind to guard his ass. This is just asking for somebody to quietly open a gate and let the little bastard slip out.
Maybe replace the Recruits with the Rangers wherever they end up?

We still haven't figured out who our spy is.
I don't think it's Saint, that little mention about white hair leads me to believe it's one of Hirstun’s Dozen. Which of course we don't know in character because Mask.

Being an officer means making the hard choices. The men under our command come first and victory second. Leaving these people alive puts both at risk.

I was leaning away from killing the refugees because it empowers our only element not completely loyal to us (plus when vampires get hungry/enraged.. eh), so this kinda seals it. That and mothers tears being the real deal likely means we can do some wicked shit with it for an upgrade or ritual.

Our own men >>> Bunch of refugees

three things matter to the prince in my view

:the company
:the dark father
:and getting feking paid

personally I don't trust the vampires or the necromancer

In my view the necromancer will see us as a threat soon because of our dragon and will seek for us to have an accident. "and you may say why do you think that" well look at the way he views mages he hates them because they threaten his grip on power so what do you think he see's when he looks at our dragon? he sees an ancient powerful beast that dose not directly answer to him he would no doubt want to kill it and re raise it.

and on top of that whats going to kill more of the company the battle of the big one or the day the sparkel faggot vampire tries to feck us while we are below ground away from our dragon.

now lets say the sparkel fag and necromancer betray us where do we go! who do we trust?Believe we should get buddy buddy with Sabn-Ibn-Abad his soldiers we willing to kill those cultists when they tried to throw the drummer boy/girl in the pit so maybe they'd side with us if we got friendly with them

as for the last point if we spare the refugees we may have an in with another employer, being a good mercenary is not just about knowing how to fight, it's also about keeping your options open and knowing when to get the feck outta dodge

I do not think that you could get much out of a useful fighting force out of them, even if you had years not days to pull a 'Make a Man Out of You' montage. That and they also hate you, You've destroyed their lands and livelihoods and (in their eyes) you haven't won yet.

Even directing them towards Kresden would be nearly as difficult as killing them, if not more so.

Neumunster is the single largest human nation on this continent, perhaps the world if you discount the Dominion Territories. Depends if you include the Northern Coast, since that's disputed as all fek. (Like an Alscae-Lorraine and Northern Ireland type deal)

-LT 'Prince' (You)
-CPL 'Jack' Marcus
-Trooper Caroline 'Joker' Schuster
-Trooper 'Saint'
-Trooper 'Kid'
-Trooper Olly Hasselhof
-Trooper Oliver Hasselhof (Maimed)
-Civvie 'Doc' (Chevalisse/Neumunster border)
-LCPL 'Murder' Meriam (Same area as the Doc)
-Trooper Harper (literally haven't written him in a single scene actually. The 'grey man' incarnate)

Hirstun of Ligh and what's left of his 'Dozen' (Godric Golden, Crackfoot and Arlen Rivers) are all from the Northern Coast.

All up between 10 and 14 of your platoon is from Neumunster, roughly half your men.

I am a little leery of the fresh IP's with a single post and no discussion or argument backing it up.

However, I still think holding off on the Massacre does win the vote here even if those are discounted. You may not agree with how I write that up, but I think it does well to capture the indecision of both players and Prince. As a few on here said, they were more motivated by not wanting to give the Vamps too much strength.

Could be explained in character as punishment for them being little cunts who though they could do as they pleased until we showed them where the bear shat in the wood. This kind of thinking is highly frowned upon and will not earn them any free snacks and if they're throwing a bitchfit about it it'll only gets harder for them to get nice things.

Strategist? The Captain. Followed by a few other LT's depending on who is alive. The 4th Infantry fellow 'Hawk' certainly has more experience.

Sabn-Ibn-Abad can lead men, win their loyalty well enough.

This was supposed to be Count Vermillio's bread, butter and jam (or blood).

Tactics?
CPL 'Jack' Marcus of course. Pietre Verdun also was schooled in the more theoretical aspects of warfare, but that never came up unfortunately.

Bad Hand and Hirstun of Ligh do have some grasp of it, but more through base low cunning than anything else. They know how to get to a fight, and how to win it when they get there.

White Bitch and 'Murder' Meriam get by on cruelty, viciousness and the like.

No worries mate, wasn't calling you out. (You are a real hooman bean I think). I was just pre-empting any arguments that samefags carried the day with their shenanigans.

It’s as if the very tension in the air was holding Trooper Saint up. The moment you acquiesce to her bargaining she slackens as if her strings were cut.

“Oh Gods. Thank the… thank…”

Before you can register exactly what is happening she rushes you, her front tackle lacking the momentum to knock you over but if she gets a leg under you she’ll have you thrown in an instant. You are halfway to drawing one of your hidden daggers before you realise she is in fact –hugging- you, not attempting to wrestle you to the ground.

You haven't been hugged in... well it's been a long time.

“It’s never too late, Prince. I… I don’t even know what’s right or wrong anymore but I know there are lines you can’t cross.” Her voice is muffled as she sobs into your chestplate. She looks up at you with her tearful angel eyes, begging you for something. Maybe it’s your soul, or what’s left of it, or maybe it’s some human comfort. You wish you fekking knew. “You don’t have to cross those lines, Prince. You don’t have to be that man.”

Do you mean:

Oh yeah, absolutely. Of course, this isn't the first massacre perpetrated by the Necromancer's forces. It would have been the first directly ordered by us though.

Aye and that's my problem with it if we get bad PR as a brutal monster under the necromancer rather then a merc co for hire it would mean we would be stuck fighting for the necromancer as no one else would hire us.

also the few human elements of the necromancers army would probably be unlikely to back us against vamps and other shit that hates us.

Lel and stolen.

>>1286668
You have to understand this is just my own interpretation of the character, I don't write him strictly with this in mind.

Prince wants to be the 'good guy'. He wants to be loved by the men. And, even if he doesn't give a shit what non-Company masses think of him, he'd prefer not to kill those he doesn't have to. It used to bother him a lot. These days not so much, only a little. But he wants to win more than that.

And after all that is said and done, he'd throw -everything- I've just said out the window if it meant keeping a few more of his men alive. It gets easier every time he does it.

So yes, I think players made the 'right' decision in that if he hasn't crossed over fully into that dark path. But only because Prince is feeling a twinge of morality AND(or MOSTLY) because he's not okay with giving the 'vaguely loyal' Vampires that much power.

----------------------------------------------------

-Below- it, how does this work? You’re supposed to wrap your arms around them back, right? It’s almost exactly like wrestling except you –don’t- trip and throw them to the ground. Your hands hesitantly out past Saint’s shoulders. There. Sort of. So now you two are… hugging you guess.

Father of Fek, what is this? You can’t exactly feel Saint’s breasts pushing up against you but somehow you’re still intently aware of it. Does she want to fek? Is that what this is? You don’t just dish out human comfort without working some sort of angle. It just doesn’t fekking happen. Still, it takes an surprising amount of willpower to not get an erection. You are only semi-successful. heh

“You don’t have to cross those lines, Prince. You don’t have to be that man.”

You know you crossed some of those lines long ago. You’ve been that man, the one willing to do the things no one else would. And the worst part? Sometimes it wasn’t even strictly necessary. You did it anyway. Just to be safe. Just to be sure. You’re already that man. And men like that don’t deserve hugs.

You feel like you’re dirtying her even with this. Just holding each other. But you don’t want to stop, it feels…. Nice. A particularly cynical part of you wonders if you’d have been a different person if you received a few more of these when you were younger.

Eventually either you or Saint breaks it off, Saint flustered as she wipes her cheek until she realises she’s using your cloak of command to do so. She blushes and apologises profusely . She runs her hand, the one with the missing ring finger, through her hair and stammers something as she doggedly refuses to make eye contact with you. You didn’t catch what she was saying.

“Wha-?”

“I-said-please-sir-may-I-be-excused-thank-you-sir!”

Trooper ‘Saint’ rushes out of the room nearly bowling into Sergeant Bad Hand as she opens the door, apologising to him as well. He raises one bushy eyebrow at you.

[1/2]
>>
>>1286749

“Right. I think we need to level with each other ‘Sir’. What was that all about?” Sergeant ‘Bad Hand’ frowns at you as he leans in the open dooryway. You can guess he overhead most of that.

“You didn’t want to let the Vampires have their way with Camp Haven either, Bad Hand.” You retort calmly, unruffling your cloak. Still wet with her tears, damn it.

“Oh aye, you’re right. But not for the reasons you just gave Miss Waterworks here. I don’t want those bloodsuckers getting too big for the fekkin boots is all, give them an inch and they drag you a mile.” He snorts. “What was all that bollocks? There are lines you don’t cross? She doesn’t know who she’s dealing with. You, me, Whisper and Trots are the last ones left. You know what I’m talking about. What we did in Far Sut Rus. To survive. To win.”

“I know what-“

“No. Sorry Prince, but you’re going to let me finish. That’s your angle, now isn’t it?” SGT ‘Bad Hand’ tugs at his untidy moustache thoughtfully. Your old comrade has never been the most intelligent of individuals, but there is a certain cunning appreciating in the calculating stare he gives you now. “It were never about the right or wrong of it, not about hurting the feelings of that little white-haired filly of yours either. But… you don’t mind letting them think that is how it is.”

[2/3]
>>
>>1286776

[3/3]

You’re glad Saint isn’t here to hear this. For some reason you feel beholden to her, as if she’s your fekking moral guardian. It’s ridiculous. And distracting. Why on earth do you feel like you want it?

“Huh. I get it. Make them think you give two rat’s shits about human decency and morals or whatnot… they’ll never see the dagger in the hand until it’s already in… You always were a clever dog. The smartest fekker out of the old crew by far. Maybe it’s why you’re still alive.” Sergeant ‘Bad Hand’ Hadriens grins. For some reason it’s not the same grin you’re used to. There’s an animalistic understanding there, like when a wolf knows not to change the Alpha. It makes you feel nauseous, coming from him. “Oh you don’t fool me, old friend. I know you’re the same Black-hearted Bastard in there that you have been for the past 10 years. Hide it from all and sundry if you like. I still see you. What you really are.”

There’s a moment where it looks like your old friend ‘Bad Hand’ looks like he’s about to say more. He thinks better of it, settling for a grunt and a nod in place of whatever words he had ready. The divide between you two over how you dealt with ‘The Snake’ still sits between you, but it looks like that wound has been stitched up and so far remains free of infection. It should heal in time, even if there remains a scar.

You can fool ‘Saint’ into thinking you’re not such a terrible human being, or that maybe you stand a chance at redemption. Maybe you can even fool yourself. ‘Bad Hand’ knows you, or at least he thinks he does. But ‘Bad Hand’ also doesn’t care.

Changing the subject Sgt ‘Bad Hand’ sniffs, a good sniff, and looks around surreptitiously.

“So what do we do with that Boy? You know who I mean.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Keeps us on hand and makes rescue involving outside variables hard. Pursuit becomes less of an issue too as opposed to the prince slipping away from a tassenland garrison. There is risk but getting the traitors should be worth it. Can we chain the prince to the company standard ala mad max when storming the fort?

The next session will start up immediately before your assault on Fort Casca, but I am assuming you keep your word to Mask where you can and play for him before you leave.

>>1286810
Bad Hand, 'Jack' Marcus, you, Cairsun the Morning Light and Mask. No one else.

Mask suspects they are being watched though. Moving them again is unlikely to help. At the same time, assigning all Company members out of town does reduce the chance that the traitor will be able to actively assist in any escape attempt.

>>1286818
Why would you want to endanger such a valuable hostage? Neumunster forces, or most of them, would recognise the importance but many Free Alliance guys wouldn't get it.

And even if they did, why would they surrender just becuase you have a hostage? They know he's too valuable to kill (or you're planning to kill him anyway).

I'm just saying while I agree with your other points, he's not exactly a good bargaining chip to break out in the middle of the battle.

“We’re taking him with us. Maybe these Tassenland boys can keep the door locked but looking out for a hostage like that? They practically worship the Emperor here, ‘Bad Hand’. This kid isn’t just royalty, he’s almost a minor deity.”

“Hmmm. I get you.” SGT Bad Hand frowns, an almost permanent feature these days. “Speaking of, we had the Grenn of yours Trooper ‘Pelt’ track down the scent from the note like you said. Led us straight to Kid.”

“Trooper Kid?” You ask, eyebrows shooting up.

“Yep. That’s right. They near shat themselves when they had a Grenn growling at them and me pulling the little shite up by the scruff of his neck… it is –his- neck, right? I’ve never asked and no one seems to really know…”

“We established that the traitor took the list from somewhere and they tacked that last note on?” You ignore SGT Bad Hand’s derailing into Kid’s gender. Why do some many people seem to care? “Trooper Kid handles some (MOST/ALL) of my paperwork these days. This traitor could have gotten those numbers from Kid’s pile of paperwork.”

“-Some- of your paperwork? That is not the impression Kid gave me. Anyway, I figured it weren’t him. No one switches between scared and indignant that quickly without some solid acting. You know he made me fill out a warrant or something? Fekking hell. Besides, with this timetable you’ve got him on between paperwork, medical training, hand signal lessons and whatever else he has no fekking time for treachery.” Bad hand chuckles, but it dies in his throat. His voice is lowered in the next sentence.

“We did manage to establish who had access to that paperwork, the ones that would have solid numbers and sensitive information like that at least. It’s not good. It could be any of our Corporal’s. Maybe not ‘Jack’, he and I uncovered that spy together. Hirstun of Ligh or ‘White Bitch’ Tara also had access but… well I’ve served with ‘White Bitch’ for 4 years now and she’s a mean one. No traitor though, I think. And Hirstun? Maybe, but it’s not his style. If he was the traitor him and his boys would already be trying to hack us up rather than pull this cloak and dagger shit. Only one other person had unrestricted access to that paperwork.”

“Who?”

“Your little pet project. Saint.” Bad Hand practically grows her name. “Think about it. Ex-Heigelen, as loyal as they come. Bringing the heir to the throne back alive? That’s her ticket back in. She doesn’t want to see the boy handed over to the necromancer, I can tell you that.”

“Huh…” Obviously she’d be set against it. And she’d say as much. But work against you from within? Treachery? You thought you were connecting. Or something. If she hadn’t admitted that she’d murdered a pedeophile Cardinal and gotten away with it, you’d never even suspect she’d be capable of any sort of deception at all. It can’t be her…

“Hmm. Out of town would be the perfect opportunity to help an escape attempt. Or mount a rescue. If they try it at all… they’ll try it then.” You suddenly remember the pillow-case worth of a cocktail of drugs from Demagogue Jale Aldin. You were supposed to use it on the Dragon but… well that never happened. “We use drugs. Psychadelics, Stimulants, Depressenants, whatever. Won’t be such a hassle then.”

“Drugging who now? Hassle what?” CPL ‘White Bitch’ Tara pokes her head through the study door. “Sorry, but you guys left me in there with those fekkin weirdoes and when I heard drugs, well you had my int-OUCH FEK!”

The pale warrior scowls as she bumps her injured arm on the doorway.

“The Grenn Alpha-whatever-the-fek got you good didn’t he?” Your senior NCO grunts. “You should really keep that in a sling.”

“MOTHER OF A CUNTING WHORE BITCH IN THE ARSE WITH… ahem.” CPL ‘White Bitch’ stops dancing in pain suddenly and smiles at ‘Bad Hand’ chirpily, showing a lot more teeth than necessary. “One more word, Sarge, go on. I will fek you with a rusty spoon, Sergeant. In the eye.”
“What in the fek are you lot doing in here?” Corporal ‘Jack’ Marcus and Corporal Hirstun of Ligh must have been drawn in there by the noise. The greying veteran of the North puffs his whiskers out in exasperation. “In my day when we started up a war meeting we didn’t stop and go off for a chat halfway through. Youngsters these days…”
“Probably the Sergeant was hoping things would go tits up with this battle plan again.” Corporal ‘Jack’ Marcus rolls his eyes, by his own standards a gregarious breach of discipline.

“Oh, nothing of the sort, my dear Corporal ‘Jack’. I get the impression there’s going to be plenty of fight to go around as it is. I’m mad, not greedy you know…”

There’s that smile. The mad grin of ‘Bad Hand’ Hadrien that you’re used to. You’ve missed that smile.

Time to Attack.

I will get one roll for each please. Name the mission you will roll for. I would prefer a different IP for each mission to give everyone a chance. No use of my blood for his, and I am only taking the first roll for each operation.

Before your own 7th Kreigstrom mission next session I will post in the beginning a viewpoint from each other operation, success or fail.

I will say that this shit? This shit is why I wanted us to DIRECT CONTROL one of the important issues.

Instead of crippling multiple waves of cavalry that are stomping the rest of our company's nuts, or getting rid of even one of the War Machines that have had Prince SHITTING HIS PANTS + Get Phat Loot;

We get the chance to get rid of 1 wave of not-Vikings.

Y'all ain't really the best at tactical objectives hey?

Oof!

I'll need three rolls for this lot. 3 1d100.
>DC 88

0 = Sabn-Ibn-Abad, LT 'Shafite', everyone. They're all gone.
1 = The Ajiymad mercs made it out. There's not enough left of the 2nd Rangers to be combat effective.
2 = A loss, no way around it. But at least your forces weren't lost in the aftermath.
3 = A partial victory. Choose a single bonus from the attack instead of both. (Rune Armour upgrade or -1d6 Albani Warmachines).

>>1287078
Same deal here. We will do them separately. 3 1d100.
>DC 60

0 = A new Power awakens. The Free Alliance has their Saviour. The Chosen One.
1 = The Vampires are destroyed.
2 = The Vampires return, defeated and hungry.
3 = A partial victory. Choose one bonus instead of two. Either the -10DC for Chevalisse forces or a single Casualty(Death) restoration.

Nice try, you blighters. I'll make the same offer I made during the Sarsburg Sack.

I will let you re-roll if you vote for it. But. BUUUUT. You must re-roll the first successful Personal Combat Roll (not all three, just the best one) you have next mission. Sort of like a roll 4d100 and discard the best rather than 3d100 and pick the best.

Well, if it's broken then who says it'll be a war machine at all?

It can be used to let Legless Jenny walk around, run messages, help build embarkments, carry heavy stuff, AND protect her from getting hurt by accident.

Who said anything about making her fight in it?

Of course if we're letting her use it she'll have to get sworn in.

And then when she's older she can use it to fight.

And cast spells from. Just saying. Why don't we find someone to teach her magic?

Enemy magic?

Trenbuchets? Wooden Stairs? Some monstrous creature? A holy champion? Burning oil?

Lots of thing's infantry can do to fuck up armor.

Also she's still like eight.
>>
>>1291487

But from the pics qm posted theres now way sloders are going to be able to hit the joints ( we have to wait for gm to tell us how big and all the things)

A few of those im adgreeing with you.
We could just uave here stay back and just lob rounds into the arimes lines from behind us ( yet again fepanding on the wepond it has)

>>
>>1291550
Nets, ropes, being surrounded is bad armor. Not saying it wouldn't cause a lot of casualties but we'd lose her and the armor.

Better to have her breaking ranks so our shock troops can tear into them.
>>
>>1292416

I mean that would suck
But she would have done her job
But also what sloders would carry lumbs of roop into a fight unless they know about her?
Early waves shouldnt have any.
And this is moght to be like the finaly battle i think
>>
>>1292927
> Would have done her job

Maybe, but as an Officer we would have failed ours.

Congrats on losing an irreplaceable war machine and a subordinate to win one battle, instead of using them to win them all.

I'm actually kind of concerned you don't seem to understand the concept.

> But it's the final battle

Maybe for the story arc, but not for the characters. This isn't an RTS.

Instead of dropping one unit off alone and unsupported, MAYBE it would be better to use a combined arms strategy so they can kill the enemy AND keep other soldiers alive.

This is Black Company Quest, not weeaboo fightan magic quest version umpteenth where it's best of three and 20s are crits that let you do anything.

It's entirely possible we could lose our commission for doing something so flagrantly wasteful.

And remember, these were the guys who were keeping Asgorga locked up. Heck IF we get a warmachine it'll be looted from the enemy. Do you think they won't have some sort of hard counter for it?

Or do you want to waste a massive force multiplier to kill a bunch of mooks before getting taken out?
