This world is a world full of magic. Each living creature possess magic and many can harness its power to use in daily life. This has led to the world being full of strife and challenge. The strong rule the weak and the weak serve the strong. You are one with the potential to be strong, but will you be able to reach it and guide your nation to victory while you do so?

Welcome to Magical Civilization Quest. In this quest you shall do your best to lead your nation to victory in a world full of magic and fantastical creatures. Last time things continued to go well. You took care of some Asherans and helped to start another settlement. Now you are fighting the light mage again. Here is a link to the archive.

With a slight chuckle you raise your hands. Once more you gather your mana in your hands. The light mage looks at you in panic and begins to try to fire off his attack. Unfortunately for him you manage to get the attack through. He is once again trapped in the vortex that you call forth. From the shouts of pain you can sense that he is on the brink of death leaving you with a choice. Whether or not to take his life?

You move to take control of your foe with your weakened state before something strange happens. Light begins to shine from the center of the tornado. You try to get back, but you are not quick enough. The light blasts forth from the tornado knocking you back. When you get up you see that the light mage is standing with his creature behind him. He begins to stumble towards you once more.

You look at him and take a deep breath and look at the light mage. You raise your hand once more. His hands begin to bend to your will and go behind his back. He tries to fight back, but you are stronger than him. You force him to fall of the beast, and when he falls off you bind force him to stay still. He tries to fight you a bit more, but after a while he passes out do to exhaustion. With the slave like this you decide to…

B. Use him as a testing dummy
C. Give him to Angelica for testing
D. Return him to the pens

We tried our best to show him the right way. I fear he might be beyond saving. Let's take his wings and see if that changes a thing.

Damage his wings enough not to fly for a very long time but not so badly they can't heal. Stretching out the torture is needed here.

You decide that he will be a perfect person to use as a demonstration for the slave. With that in mind you walk over to him. You gather your mana and prepare to ruin his wings. You make numerous light slashes all across his wings. With what you have done he will not be able to fly for a good while. When the slaves see him they all look a bit more afraid of you than normal.

The rest of the week goes rather well. The hunters manage to bring in some food and pelts. In addition to that some of the farmers have begun the work of planting the fields. While that goes on some more crystals are gathered up. Unfortunately Lance is unable to do much to the slaves this week. Luckily though your actions have put fear in them. At the end of the week you all head to another weekly meeting. When you get there you begin to discuss next week.

When you are finished discussing the business of the week you all head out. However, you notice that Catharine looks rather angry as she storms out. You put that to the side and head to your wife. The two of you embrace and fall asleep in each other’s arms.

In the morning when you go out she kisses you before heading over to the lake. You walk with her for a while before breaking toward the slave pens. You once again head toward the light mage. His eyes are dimmer than last time, but the fire is still there. You drag him to the training area once more.

This time you are quickly able to put his fire out. You train him harshly reminding him of what will happen if he disobeys your will. With your threats looming over him he begins to give in this week. You are glad you managed to make such good progress this week as Lance also has your luck. The two of you together are able to do some good work on the slaves.

However, that is just about it in the positives. While crystal gathering goes rather well that is it. The hunters are not able to find as many animals even with the Lupus aiding them. In addition to this Angelica and Tiberius state that their research is going rather slow. With that behind you plan for the week ahead.

You recall the events of your last attempt at training and try to see if you could repeat them. You begin it how you tried last time. First you gather you mana and begin to allow it to flow all around you. Soon you enter a trance like state and the winds flow gently around you.

With that the voice leaves you and you are left alone. You try to reconnect to it over the week, but you are unable to reach that state once more. In the village things go rather well. While Lance has some difficulty with the slaves Angelica and Tiberius are able to do more work on the curse seal. In addition to that a good number of seeds and crystals where gathered. To top it all off the hunt was successful this week. At the end of it all you all meet once again.

The man sighs and stands up. He grabs the bow besides him and looks over at the targets around the field. He puts his hand on the bow string and forms an arrow of flames. Your time is well spent. In addition to adding a new skill to your portfolio you and Bosari manage to grow closer. The two of you spend time together on the lakeside. You with a book and her with the water. Over the week from your readings you learn an advance form of control know as hypnosis. While you don’t think you will be able to use it in combat yet it has its uses.

However, nothing else goes right. The scouts find nothing in the surrounding area in addition to suffering some injuries. Lance fails to make any break through with the beastcursed too. Finally, no crystals are gathered this week due to some issues and Geli interference. However, Angelica is able to make some progress in her studies. At the weekly meeting you can see Catharine looks rather amused.

When the meeting is over you all head away to your places of rest. Alexis leads Catharine away to their settlement. You yourself head to your wife excited about the coming birth of your child. The two of you fall into each other’s arms and fall to slumber.

When you wake you decide that you should try to deal with one of the slaves. You begin to walk over to the slave pens. As you walk you see that Lance is doubling his efforts with the beastcursed. You give him a curt nod and grab the beastcursed known as Garren and drag him to the field.

He is a rather difficult slave to work with. While he is not complete resistant he manages to put up a good fight. The second you take him out of hypnosis he returns to fighting you. This leads you to the discovery that hypnosis is a temporary thing and you will need to study more to have any hold. On the other hand Lance does well with the beasatcursed managing to train them rather well.

In the settlement things are not well. The hunt is unable to bring in anything of worth this week unfortunately. In addition to that there is a poor crystal gathering this week. At the end of it all you head to the meeting hall.

You begin to train your wind magic manipulating it in different ways. As you do this you form a small sphere of wind similar to a bullet. You then send the mana flying in front of you. The small sphere of wind strikes into a target with great force. For the rest of the week you practice with this technique dubbing it wind bullet.

While that goes on little grows in the settlement. The training that helped you does little for the troops. In addition to that you don’t get as many crystals as you want. Finally. Lance has little progress with the beastcursed this week. However, Angelica is able to make some advancements. She is able to study Maria and gains some more information on dispel type magic. A class of magic focus on disrupting others mana. At the end of the week you all gather once more for planning.

Things are a mixed bag in the settlement this week. The hunt is successful this week and brings in some food and pelts. In addition to that some houses are set up and crystals are gathered. However, when the seeds are being planted some are lost to curious Gelis. At the end of it all you all meet at town hall.

You decide to watch him for a bit longer. He begins to go through more elaborate techniques. He soon grabs a log from the side and pulls it to the center of his makeshift training area. He walks away from it and turns to face it calmly. He raises his hand and it is coated in flames. He then closes his hand around the flame, and instead of dying it becomes a knife of fire. He then begins to create some more knives and throws them into the log.

After a while he stop due to the log burning up. He then walks over to the ash that was once the log and begins to mix it into the sand of the beach.

“Thank you for waiting. The name is Thomas Tormod”, he says not yet facing you, “what do you want?”

“I am Merric Fellus”, you say walking over to him. “May I have the pleasure of knowing your name?”

He closes his eyes and nods. “Sure, the name is Thomas Tormod. I serve on Captain Julius’ crew. I am rather glad that you decided to wait, you can’t imagine the number of people who just interrupt my training.”

“It is no matter”, you reply. “However, I do have a question. What was that technique that you were using?”

“Ah that it was manifestation magic”, replies placing his arms behind his head. “Captain Marius Julius uses a variation of it in his magic, but while I create objects he creates creatures. I myself learned this technique from a friend of mine back in Brucarius. We both were in the same business, though he was picked up by some noble and we parted ways. Anything else?

“So why did you come to the new world”, you ask looking over at him.
“Well it is rather simple”, he replies looking back at you calmly. “I joined up with Captain Maria. As I swore to follow her I had no choice but to come here with her. If I didn’t I would have defeated the entire purpose of the oath I made her.”

As he says this he looks over at the sea as if he was caught in his thoughts.

“If you don’t mind may I ask what your plans are, and if it is not to intruding what was the oath you made?” As you ask this he sighs and takes a couple steps back.

“Well I shall answer the easier of the two first”, he says looking into the sky before staring back at you. “I plan to serve faithfully and fulfil the oath I made my master. Now regarding the oath is a more difficult issue. What I can tell you is that I have made an oath to protect and serve Lady Maria. Other than that the oath prevents me from speaking more on.”

“Interesting”, you reply looking over at him thoughtfully. Making up your mind you decide that you shall go through with the plan that you began to have since seeing Thomas train. “You wouldn’t mind if we had a little sparring match would you?” you ask looking over at him.

“I have no problem”, he replies with a grin, “However, if I were you I would call up your familiars.”

With that he walks to the other side of the beach as raises his hands.

You call forth your familiars and stare him down from across the field. Thomas calls forth his knives and begins to calmly walk towards you. By his side his two familiars are besides and are walking with barely concealed energy. Suddenly he just bursts into motion with a blast of fire from his feet. He flies towards you with his arms by his side.

Unfortunately, for him you are ready for him. You quickly release your stored mana and form a tornado in front of you. Thomas’ fire-powered charge forces his to run into the tornado. You weaken its walls so he flies in and then immediately strengthen them so he is trapped by the winds.

You immediately follow your attack up with a gale cutter. The blades of wind fly into the tornado and slice through the vortex at different points. While you don’t hear anything other than the roar of the tornado you are certain that they have hit their targets. However, nothing emerges from the tornado, though you can see that there is a red glow in the center of the tornado.

The red consumes the tornado as it bursts into flames. From the center of the flames emerges Thomas and his familiars. While they are beat up from your attacks you can see that the flames are having no effect on them. It is at this moment that you make your move. You send forth a wave of twisted mana towards Thomas. He takes the full brunt of the attack and you can see the curse of slowness is already taking effect slowing him down.

Thomas decides to retaliate by throwing his fire knives at you. However, due to his decreased speed you are able to quickly dodge out of the ay. You respond by casting gale step and begin moving at a vastly increased rate. As you do you notice that Thomas has begun to wave his arm about in a curious manner you look behind yourself to see the knives flying in your direction you once again dodge out of the way. With you twice enhanced speed and his slowness curse you can sense that you should be able to outpace him now.

Using your speed you quickly cast gale armor to surround yourself in a cloak of wind. Seeing how much you out pace your foe by you form blades of air and direct them towards your foe. As the blades of wind fly towards him Thomas gets a funny look on his face. With a burst of mana he moves to the side as the blades crash down where he once was.

“Wow”, he says looking over to the spot that you just hit, “That was a rather impressive attack. If I didn’t curse break when I did that might have been trouble. I guess I should kick things up a notch.”

With that a cloak of flames surrounds him and begins to burn the surrounding area. He gets a crazed grin on his face and begins to charge at you with his knives.

Thomas charges at you and begins to slash wildly. You bob and weave past his attacks thanks to your increased speed. As his blades pass by you can feel the heat from his fires pass by your skin drying your skin up. You quickly fly back and gather your mana in your hand and aim it towards him. The bolt flies straight into him and knocks him back a little.

“Your pretty good at this”, he says with a smile, “I haven’t had this much fun in a long time.”

With that said he charges at you again and his flames grow even wilder as they weave around his body.

He rushes at you once again lunging at you with his knives in hand. He begins to twirl around becoming a whirling storm of fire and blades. Occasionally his blades fly away from him and though you manage to dodge out of the way of them they become small blasts that limit your movements. Slowly you begin to be driven back towards the trees. He slashes at you once again and you make your move. Using the speed granted to you by your familiar and the spell you move behind him. Then you once again form a vortex of wind around him.

Before you can do anything else you hear a rumbling followed by a screams coming from the settlement. Thinking on it you decide to…
