Welcome to Spirit Detective Quest! This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Yu Yu Hakusho, though it does not take place during the events of the show. You're a young highschooler, one who will find himself granted the title of Spirit Detective, and will be charged with tracking down demons and other supernatural criminals.

>Rules

Each time I make an update, there will be a ten minute window in which you can vote between various options I have provided. Write-ins are accepted and encouraged, but I do reserve the right to veto them. Once ten minutes have passed, the option (or suitable combination) with the most support will win.

You can choose multiple options, but be mindful of when that doesn't take any sense. Saying you want to go talk to someone and then talk to someone else in one post doesn't make much sense.

Also, in combat, I may veto selecting multiple options depending on how feasible that seems.

As far as combat, you will roll to attempt different options. I will not tell you what the number needed is ahead of time, so use your heads and balance risk/reward. Sometimes, you should take riskier options if they can yield greater payoff. Other times, it's best to play it safe. Use your judgement.

This is not Dragonball, and while there are sometimes ways to bring back the dead, they are few and far between, so do not assume that anybody you kill/let die will be coming back.

I hope you all have fun.

The rest of the day passes without incident, and when you finish your classes, you simply make your way outside, finding Damon already waiting for you, holding a book in one hand, and wearing a pencil on his ear.

Hearing running footsteps behind you, you turn your head and see Aria making her approach, stopping beside you and looking toward your friend.

"So, where do we start?" the boy asks.

>A. Ask if he knows any place where you can train in private

>D. Ask Aria where they should begin, she's got the most experience out of the three of them.

Also just wanted to put this out there, we talked about doing a spirit punch move, but Aria(Som) said that we'd just be wasting energy and that the spirit gun was stronger anyways.

So how about this. We focus energy into the knuckle of our middle finger, so that when we punch that energy is still coming from a pin point source and we unleash it to fuck up our enemies?
>>

>>A. Ask if he knows any place where you can train in private
>>
>>1226863
It's not that it would waste energy, it would still be far stronger than a normal punch, but it would not be as strong as a Spirit Gun, and would drain energy over time

I thought it'd be nice to create a really dense and hard but small shell of reiki, then use the majority of the energy that would normally go into just a wave of energy to propel that shell at incredible speed, a literal spirit bullet.
It would require fine control of our energy though.

"Let's go to the woods," you tell him.

Damon looks as if this were the last option he wanted you to pick, but nonetheless, he leads the way, guiding you away from the school, and taking you toward the woods just outside of town, on the opposite side from where you returned with Aria that first night.

You don't go in too far, Damon seeming nervous straying from the forest edge. Aria finds a log and takes a seat on top of it, sitting back and watching you and Damon.

Damon takes the pencil off his ear, and gets ready to take notes.

"Okay, how do we start?" he asks.

>A. First thing's first, save the notes until after the training

You shrug. "I want you to hit me as hard as you can."

Damon looks at you like you're insane. "You want me to hit you?"

You nod. "As hard as you can."

Damon looks toward Aria, who just gives him a shrug.

"I say go for it," she tells him, watching with interest to see what the other boy will do.

Damon sighs, dropping his notebook to the ground, sliding his backpack off his shoulders, and putting the pencil back down. You get the feeling that he hasn't been in very many fights, at least not ones where he was able to defend himself.

"Okay," he tells you, breaking into a run and pulling back his right arm. "Just remember, you asked for it!"

His hand clenches into a fist, and he punches you full-force in the face, throwing you off your feet and sending you sliding back in the dirt.

Sitting up, you wipe your thumb over your lip, finding a bit of blood on it. He's definitely stronger than he looks. That punch hurt, and threw you to the ground, so you'd imagine that he's stronger than the average person. Then again, you haven't been hit once since this whole mess started.

Damon seems rather surprised by what just happened, and stares down at his own fist with wide eyes, a smile slowly coming to his face.

"Wow," is all he says.

Damon gulps. "U-uh, you're gonna-"

Rushing forward, you pull back your right arm, clenching your hand into a fist, and giving Damon an uppercut to the stomach, throwing him off of his feet and sending him crashing to the ground.

Damon clutches his stomach, groaning in pain. Rolling onto his stomach, he pushes himself up,his arms shaking a bit as he stands on his feet and faces you, looking as if he's already recovered.

Sighing, you reach into your pocket and retrieve the spyglass, tossing it toward Damon, who catches it.

"Practice with this, work on your Spirit Energy," you tell the boy.

"Why don't we order from that place, and have them deliver to my house?" you suggest.

"That sounds great," Aria tells you, hopping off the log. "I'm sure yer parents are wonderful people."

"Alright," Damon says. "Give them a call and see what they want, then just give me the address and I'll order."

Calling home, you're answered by your mother, who seems thrilled that you'll be having friends over, saying that it was leftover night anyway and that some pizza actually sounds quite nice.

Damon calls the order in, and the three of you head for your home, arriving in no time, and entering the house to the sounds of your mother setting the kitchen table.

"Will, is that you?" your mother asks, apparently having the good sense not to call you "dear" in front of your friends.

Your mother has just finished setting the final plate when the three of you step in. She gives a friendly smile to both of your friends, with Aria readily returning it, followed by Damon, who at first seems a bit nervous.

"Mom, this is Damon and Aria," you introduce.

"Nice to meet you both," your mom says pleasantly.

"Aria here is actually the one who got me that office job at the detective agency," you tell your mother as you gesture to the girl.

Your mom walks over, her smile bigger. "Well, that was very kind of you, Aria. You work there too, I'm assuming?"

Aria nods. "Yes, I'm an assistant there as well."

Your mom's brow furrows for a moment. "That accent. Is your family Irish?"

Aria nods. "Yes, we just moved here recently."

"Well, it's great to meet you," your mom says before looking over at Damon. "And Damon, very nice to meet you as well."

Damon lowers his head. "Thank you, ma'am."

"Where's dad?" you ask your mom.

"Upstairs," she answers. "He'll be down for dinner in just a bit. Until then, can I get you all anything to drink?"

"You wouldn't happen to have orange juice, would ye?" Aria asks with a smile.

"It was good to see you," you tell the girl, handing her the money, plus a reasonable tip.

"You too," she replies, handing you the pizzas. "Have a nice night."

Returning to the kitchen, you enjoy a pleasant meal with family and friends. Damon was right, the pizza is great, and you make a note to get food from that place again sometime.

When time has passed, and your friends have left, you say goodnight to your parents and go up to bed, falling asleep rather quickly. After a restful night, you wake up and go to school as normal, only to see something unexpected partway there.

Damon and Kevin are fighting.

No, that's not really a good description. Kevin's on the ground, battered and bloody, and Damon is holding him by the collar, punching him repeatedly even as he makes no effort to fight back.

Adding taking kevin to the nurse to this.

I dont want us to scold Damon too bad, the kid looks like he was bullied to shit, and we know just how bad Kevin is, he attacks lone defenseless kids with a gang of goons.

Just because we beat Kevin, don't forget how dangerous he is to normal people and how much he probably deserves exactly what Damon is doing and more. Kevin nods frantically, while Damon shrugs.

"That's enough," you tell your friend sternly.

"Not yet," Damon says, raising his fist for another blow.

>B. Sounds reasonable
D. Offer to take Kevin to the nurse

Don't fall for the bullshit and side with Keven for God sake please.

Bullying is not like it is in the cartoons, Kevin definitely is the type to deserve this. I mean I don't think he is beyond redemption, but if I got to beat the shit out of the bully that used to come after me it would have been great. Unfortunately if I ever did I would have gotten a wrathof shit from the school, because bullies are innocent gorgeous angel babies, and victims are satan incarnate. Oddly, when I switched schools and picked a couple guys who where fucking with me off the ground by their wrist, people stopped fucking with me.

What I am saying is, Damon isn't doing anything wrong. Yeah by Highschool PSA's he is a horrible monster who is going to start smoking marijuanas and talking to girls of loose morals! But in reality he is just a poor bullied kid trying to defend himself and make the torment, beatings, and humiliation stop. Just so happens overwhelming strength is a good way to do that.
>>
>>1227802
The first thing he did when given x-ray goggles is look at a girl's breasts despite knowing it was wrong.

"Okay, man, you're starting to sound like a super villain here," you tell Damon. "You're gonna beat him until he never looks at you wrong again? Who talks like that? Next thing you know you're gonna start forcing yourself on girls who turn you down."

Damon looks back at you, disgusted. "Why the Hell would I ever do that? This bastard's been beating me up for years, I think one ass-kicking is more than fair payback."

You give him an irritated look. "Seriously, dude, knock this shit off and go to class. I'm taking Kevin to the nurse."

Damon heaves a heavy sigh, and does as you say, letting go of Kevin, and heading for class after giving him one last glare.

Once Damon's gone, you help Kevin up and aid him in walking toward the school.

"T-thanks," Kevin groans. "I thought he was gonna kill me."

"Maybe you should be more careful about bullying people," you tell Kevin.

He sighs. "Yeah..."

"Where were your friends?" you ask as the two of you continue toward the school.

Kevin looks down. "They ditched me as soon as Damon started wailing on me."

Some friends.

Not saying anything else, and ignoring the strange looks that others are giving you, you help Kevin into the school, and take him to the nurse.

Ohwell, lets spreadem and let Kevin jam it all up in there with no lube, how about we tell him about Spirit Energy, give him the Spyglass, and ask if he wants our lunch money too.

I don't know SOM.

Apparently school bullying is a sore subject with a few of your readers.

So how badly is Damon going to villain out?

I mean... we all know it's coming, I'm just asking for magnitude.

You seem pretty dead set against Aria the fighter, any specific reason?

Any chance we can participate in an investigation with other Detectives soon?

I know anons ignored Steph (oh god I probably got her name wrong) but maybe if we are working closely with her we can learn a few tricks?

What's the deal with (um) Sally (?) the girl we saved. She seemed a bit standoffish considering everything. Of course she probably expected us to be a creep about it, but then we weren't.

Should I go back and watch YYH? I never finished it.

>>1229137
I'm not against Aria becoming a fighter, but she's not a natural warrior, if that makes sense. So, making her a fighter that can keep up with the team will take a lot of work, though it won't be impossible.

Eventually

You are either a female with a major misunderstanding of how teenage males act or want to act, or you are a seriously brainwashed male.

If I was 15 again and given an item that could see through clothes by a super hot redhead, my first thought would be about just how much of her goodies I could see.

As an adult I can see how that is terrible and would definitely refrain from doing that, but I cannot blame a teenager for trying to see some tiddies when they are basically thrown at them. Sure it isnt a saintly action, but it is better than trying to beat someone nearly to death for not giving you enough money, but then again I guess that is the difference between understanding teenage stupidity and being a total Kevin-fag.

I really hope Kevin and his goons get killed with no redemption, just to create butthurt with you kevin-lovers.

>Pulls out blade of Titty Sight
>Prepares shield of Kevin Fucking

Come at me!!!

I honestly am probably reading way too far into the characters, but as someone who remembers what it was like to be a bullied teenager I really understand what Damon is going through and I dont see it as Supervillain foreshadowing so much as "Hahaha I am king in the castle I have a chair, I am no longer lowest on the shit totem pole" kind of feeling.

Yeah Damon may have gone a bit overboard, but a teenager wanting to see some hot gril tity's and beat up his bully does not make a "OMG we need to murder our friend before he goes overboard and slays MECHA-JESUS and dooms humanity>!!>!>!!>!" like so many people seem to be gearing up to do.
>>
>>1230185
You're pretty much right. Damon suddenly had the power to get back at somebody who tormented him for years, and he took it. Was it necessarily the right thing to do? No. Did he go overboard? Sure. Is it understandable? I think so

And seriously, half the anons voted to peek at Aria as soon as you got the spyglass, I'm not sure what the judgement here is about
>>
>>1230159
Also Shaman King is pretty cool, you use your magic ghost seeing powers to convince ghosts to fight with you against other ghost fighters, and then you beat the ultimate ghost fighter and I assume become God or something.

You got Shamans who equip ghosts, and Necromancer chicks who kill Bruce Lee and ressurect him as a battle zombie and stuff.

I am remembering this from like 10-12 years ago.

Getting Kevin to the nurse takes a significant bit of time, and by the time you've delivered him there safely, you've already missed homeroom. Rushing to make it to class, you once again run into a pretty blonde, knocking both of you to the floor and causing her to drop a stack of papers all over the floor.

"Dammit!" Sally shouts, hurrying to gather the papers. "Do you have any idea how long it took me to-oh, it's you again."

The furious look on her face dissipates a bit when she recognizes you, though she still looks rather annoyed.

"So, is this going to be an every day thing?" she asks, half-teasingly as she gathers up her things.

"Looks that way," you tell her, giving a playful wink as you bend down to help her gather up her papers. "Not that I mind."

Sally gives a little chortle at that. "I'll bet. But I don't really appreciate being knocked over, so try to tone it down a bit."

Once her papers are gathered, she gives you a little nod and runs off toward her class. You run to your own, making it just in time. Nobody really seems to care that you ran late today, though you do hear plenty of whispers about what happened with Damon and Kevin. Somehow, you doubt that Kevin will be able to live this down.

You don't see any sign of the boy on the way to lunch, but you do pass Rachael, who gives you a friendly hello as she makes her way to class. Arriving in the cafeteria, you find Damon sitting by himself, though students at other tables seem to be discussing him.

As you take a seat, Damon retrieves the Psychic Spyglass from his pocket, sliding it across the table at you.

"Thanks for letting me borrow this," he says to you. "Made me exhausted, but I slept like a baby after using it."

"No problem," you tell him, taking the spyglass and pocketing it. "So, did you get everything out of your system this morning?"

Damon crosses his arms, a serious expression covering his face as he nods at you. "Yeah, I did what I had to do. As long as Kevin doesn't bother me again, I'll leave him alone."

You suppose that's alright, but perhaps you should keep an eye on Damon, just in case he tries to pull something like that again.

"It's weird," he tells you, uncrossing his arms and opening and closing his hands. "I feel even stronger today than I did yesterday. I guess training with that spyglass really did help."

"It's an extremely basic form of trainin', but an effective one," Aria comments as she takes a seat beside you, sliding a folder over to you.

"Alright, what kind of case?" you ask, sliding the folder in front of you.

Opening the folder up, you're greeted by the image of what looks to be scattered pieces of flesh and bone. Whoever this was, there's scarcely enough of them left to even tell that they were human, a lone ear the only confirmation that this was something other than an animal.

"Your town's police found him this morning," Aria explains. "They're assuming some sort of animal attack. But here's the thing; no soul came from that body."

You close the folder to find Aria giving you a serious look. "Sounds a bit familiar, doesn't it?"

"Looks like somebody learned from Suldon not to leave a body for a soul to come back to," you comment.

Pushing the folder back to Aria, you stand up and stretch. "Well, it looks like I'm missing class today."

Aria gives you an approving look, standing up and grabbing her backpack. "It's best not to leave whoever's behind this on the loose, especially if they're connected to Suldon in some way."

"Sure, but keep your distance and stay on guard," you tell him. "You're only going to be watching."

Damon looks like he wants to argue, but before he can make any kind of vocal protest, you speak up again.

"Consider it a learning experience," you tell him.

Damon relents, nodding in agreement. "Alright."

The three of you leave the cafeteria, and make your way off of the school grounds without anybody stopping you. As you make your way across town, you notice Aria studying you, a thoughtful look on her face.

You give her a shrug. "A week ago, I wasn't fighting demons and shooting Spirit Energy out of my finger. Things happen."

Aria chuckles. "I guess that's true."

It's not much longer before you reach the forest, and your assistant soon leads you to an area the police have blocked off. She pulls both you and Damon behind a large rock, making sure you aren't spotted.

Shrugging, you follow your assistant's suggestion, activating the compass and watching as the needle spins in circles. This continues for nearly a minute before it finally points back toward your town.

"Well, looks like we have a lead," Aria says excitedly.

The three of you head in that direction, but only about a minute later, the needle starts spinning in circles again, this time not even stopping after several minutes have passed.

"I was afraid this might happen," Aria remarks with a disappointed sigh. "It's lost the trail."

"How could it lose the trail?" you ask Aria. "And why did we try using this thing in the first place? Doesn't it only work on already identified demons?"

Aria shakes her head. "Previously identified demons give the strongest signals, and are extremely easy for the compass to track. But it can also pick up strong demon energies without having to attune to the source."

"So then, the demon's hiding its power?" Damon asks.

"Maybe," Aria tells him. "Or maybe the demon was just using a lot more of its power when it made the kill back in the forest. Either way, I doubt the compass will be much help."

Damon frowns. "I think we should keep going this way."

"Well, the demon probably went into town," Aria acknowledges. "But, once we get back there, there's no telling where we should even start looking."

Damon stares into the distance, almost looking as if he's in some kind of trance. Without another word, he steps forward, walking toward the town.

"Aria, get the oar," you tell your assistant before following after your friend, who slowly makes his way toward town.

Aria holds her right arm out to the side, and her oar seems to fade into existence right in her hand. She walks by your side as the two of you follow Damon into town.

He doesn't say a word as he begins to navigate, pushing past pedestrians and getting more than a few honks from angry motorists. He doesn't seem to even notice these things, silently moving toward whatever destination he's heading for.

"This is odd," Aria whispers as you continue through town. "What do you think's going on?"

Aria gulps. "I hope it's the first one."

Damon still says nothing. He keeps moving slowly through town, leading you and Aria for another thirty minutes before stopping at the end of an alleyway.

He slowly raises his right hand, and points into the darkness.

Reaching into your pocket, you pull out your spyglass, looking through it and focusing on seeing through the darkness.

The alleyway is empty, save a pair of trashcans and some scattered bits of paper. But at its far end, you see a door, and focusing on seeing through that door, you can see a tall, dark-skinned man sleeping against a wooden crate.

Focusing a bit more on the man, you're able to work out some details, such as an odd tattoo on his right arm, and several small horns on his head. Damon's definitely found your creature.

"Damon, keep back," you instruct, getting closer to the alley.

Now appearing to have snapped out of his trance, Damon stares down the alleyway with an expression of confusion and fear.

"Will, there's something down there," he tells you. "And it feels...it feels....I don't even know how to describe it."

Well, that's comforting.

Aria looks down the alleyway, holding her oar a bit tighter. "Does this mean you two have found the demon?"

"Oh yeah," you tell her, stepping into the darkness. "You stay back, too."

Slowly making your way through the alley, you come to the doorway, readying yourself for battle before loudly pounding on the door. You can't see to the other side without your spyglass, and honestly, you've used as much of your energy on that thing as you want to. So, you continue pounding until the door swings open, revealing your demon.

You could tell he was tall before, but now that he's standing right in front of you, light pouring from inside the building and allowing you to see him, you are now aware just how huge he really is. He actually has to hunch over to even pass through the door.

He stares down at you with curious and irritated eyes, letting out a yawn.

"I was napping," he tells you in an annoyed voice. "Who the hell are you? You'd better have a damn good reason for coming here and bothering me, kid."

Not caring to introduce yourself, ask questions, or say much of anything, you take this moment to attack him when his guard is down.

Before he even realizes what you're doing, you pull back your right fist, and deliver the strongest blow you can to his face, sending him falling backward into the building and flat on his ass.

As you step inside, he begins to pick himself back up, but a kick with your left leg to the right side of his face causes his body to turn left, and he ends up sprawled on the ground. He begins to push himself back up, but you quickly rush over, lifting your right leg and giving an ax kick to the back of his head, slamming his face into the concrete.

He stays still.

Crouching beside your fallen foe, you strike him in the back of the head, pounding his face further into the concrete with your powerful strike.

He still does not move.

You get back to your feet, trying to make up your mind on whether to call for the others or just search the place by yourself, but before you can reach that decision, you feel someone breathing down your neck.

Turning around, you find the man you just beat down looming over you, smirking despite a busted lip and bent nose.

"You're pretty strong for a human," he remarks, cracking his knuckles. "Let me guess, one of Koenma's dogs?"

A glow begins to surround the man, and his muscles bulge, his body seeming to increase in size. His shirt rips as his body swells, and the horns on his head become far more visible. His skin changes from brown to a coppery red, and claws grow on his hands and feet. His head remains bald, other than the horns, but two tusks grow from the bottom of his mouth.

"Well sorry, but I'm not going to prison!" he roars. "Still, I'll be happy to send you back to your boss in pieces!"

We back
>>
>>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pyeUHyb6-s

"Still, I'll be happy to send you back to your master in pieces!"

"ARIA, DAMON!" you shout as loudly as you can, moving to get out of reach of your opponent and hoping to stall for as long as possible.

After just a few steps, however, you're grabbed by the collar of your shirt and lifted off of the ground. Before you can do anything, you find yourself sailing through the air, slamming rather painfully against a wall on the other side of the room.

The beast turns toward you, smirking. "So, you brought friends, did you? Good, I'll enjoy making a meal out of them."

Struggling, you manage to push yourself back to your feet, earning another round of laughter from the creature.

"Oh, it's okay, don't get up," he tells you. "There's no reason for me to throw you around any more than I have to. I eat my meals alive, and hate bruising the meat too badly. So be a good boy and stay over there."

One of his pointed ears twitches, and he slowly slinks away from the door, crouching beside it and waiting for your friends. You can vaguely hear footsteps approaching.

Aria and Damon are on their way.

Your friends are running right into a slaughter. There's probably little time to warn them, so the only thing you can think of to do is attack that monster with everything you've got.

Shrugging away the pain of that last attack, you rush toward the crouching creature, pulling back your right arm and letting out a yell to get his attention. The beast looks toward you, smirking as you come rushing in for another round.

He makes no effort to block as you punch him in the face with all of your might, and barely even flinches once you've made your move. He shows no signs of even the slightest injury, and his response is immediate, backhanding you with such force that head snaps back and you're once again thrown off of your feet.

This time, you suffer a rather painful landing on your back, sprawled out and defenseless on the ground as your friends come running in.

"Will!" Aria shouts in fearful surprise upon hearing you.

"Look out!" Damon shouts to her, pushing her in the back and knocking her out of the way of the demon as it reaches for her.

As Aria falls to the ground, the demon fixes Damon with a glare, and before your friend can even try to run, the beast strikes, slamming his fist into Damon's gut and throwing him out the door.

Aria gets into a push-up position, glancing over her shoulder at the hulking creature, who turns to regard both her and yourself.

"Mmm...so much delicious meat and soul to devour," he declares, eyeing the two of you hungrily. "Now which of you wants to die first?"

In that case
>E. Channel spirit energy into our knife and shank a bitch

just stabbing him will probably break the knife, we have to use spirit energy to cut through this guy's hide
>>
You guys also forget that once we fire the spirit gun we will be, most likely, weak or defenseless We need to create a situation so he will have a hard time to dodge and aim at a weak spot in his body.
>>
>>1234041
Like his lungs. With a knife.
>>
>>1234034
That might work and will conserve our energy. We boutched the control with the Spirit Gun last time but i guess coating the knife in spirit energy might be double.
>>
>>1234041
Yeah, busting out the Spirit Gun this early is an all around bad idea
>>
>>1234046
No different than channeling it into our fists, but almost certainly more efficient in terms of damage dealt to energy used.
>>
>>1234045
That's a valid point but we don't know how he works. Since he transformed, something noticeble by his skin colour and the way our punch barely affected him he can't garantee a normal knife, will work, but, with spirit energy coating it maybe it will be able to cut him. and i don't want to risk a botch and we end up screwing up focusing energy in the knife.

Picking yourself back off the ground once again, you wrack your brain trying to figure out how to deal with this monster.

Your strongest punch right in his face barely made him flinch, and he's able to toss you and your friends around like rag-dolls. Obviously, you can't brute-force your way through this like you did in your previous battles. This beast is far too strong for that.

Still, you aren't out of options yet. If brute strength won't damage him, maybe slashing and stabbing will.

"You're a stubborn one, aren't you?" the demon asks, amused. "Well, come on, then. This is fun for me, too!"

Reaching into your pocket, you pull out the knife and rush toward your foe, who stands his ground until you get within range, then throws a punch. Reacting just in time, you barely manage to avoid the strike, and slash at his arm with your knife, eyes going wide in horror as you see that your cut doesn't even leave a scrape.

"Aria, what the hell is this thing?!" you manage to get out before the back-knuckles of the creature's fist slams into your face, flooring you once again.

"His kind are called Kyūkonki," Aria tells you fearfully. "They eat the souls of their victims by devouring them alive. And their skin is so hard and thick that they're nearly impervious to damage."

The demon chuckles. "Exactly. Your little pocket-knife won't save you. Nothing will."

He stomps toward you, looming above you and raising a clawed hand to strike.

Fair enough. Honestly though I dunno what to do with this guy. Channeling energy into a stab is still gonna take energy out of us, and even if we cut him how do we know it'll be deep enough to actually wound him seriously? I feel like a Spirit Gun will just annoy him and tire us out at best, and the Spirit Knife idea will only be slightly less bad...

I don't have any actual ideas, just nervousness towards our current ones. Unless we find a weakspot or use some seriously skilled teamwork on him, I don't see us winning the fight.

That, or just lucky high roll leading to come from nowhere victory.

As the demon swipes down with his massive claws, you quickly roll to the side, managing to avoid being skewered by the monster.

He looks toward you, rising his clawed hand back into the air, and readying himself to strike again. But, before he gets the chance, you push yourself off the ground, and leap back, avoiding his next swipe and gaining distance quickly.

Now, half-way across the room from the hulking beast, you have a moment to stop and think. Your punches do nothing, slashing with the knife does nothing, you aren't even sure that your Spirit Gun would be enough to take this bastard down.

You watch as the creature begins to stomp toward you, only to pause as someone yells from behind him.

The demon turns around just in time for Damon to slam a trashcan lid into his face.

Having gotten a running, leaping start and having caught the demon off-guard, Damon manages to knock the beast off his feet, sending him falling onto his back. Unfortunately, this seems to accomplish nothing beyond angering the creature, who kicks out and catches Damon in the chest, throwing your friend against a wall.

Damon falls forward into a crouch, and the demon picks itself back up, rushing toward Damon, who only has time to hold the lid up in a vain effort to shield himself from what's certain to be a death blow.

Aria covers her eyes and looks away.

With a roar, the demon punches, shattering the lid, yet not seeming to actually hit Damon.

Confused, you step around to get a better look, and spot Damon, still in a crouch, holding the handle to the trashcan lid in his hand. But what's really weird is that there's a blue, circular-shaped form that seems attached to the handle, almost like the lid is still there.

"Amazing...." Aria says.

I get that but the middle of a fight we are losing is not the time to go for an asspull just cuz you want to be different. We have one attack, it is the same attack as the MC of the show. Until we get a second to actually train we aren't likely to get a new one unless we roll a 90+ while doing something tactically suicidal
>>
>>1234603
We haven't done any training yet, let alone the training Aria was suppose to give us. Not to mention we picked a smart character so it makes more sense to go with the gun option for the time being since I really doubt Will would actually risk doing something like channeling and holding energy on a knife when it back fired on us when we tried it with the spirit gun in this dire situation at the moment.

The beast has been distracted by Damon, giving you ample opportunity to hit it with your Spirit Gun.

Still, you hesitate. With how damn durable the creature is, you aren't sure your gun will do much more than piss him off even further. But, you can't just let Damon get slaughtered. Even with whatever it is that Damon's holding, you doubt he'll be able to fend off the demon for long.

Wait. The creature's skin might be tough to pierce, but you're sure its organs are just as fragile as anybody else's. At least, you pray that's the case.

You've only got one shot with the Spirit Gun, but if you pull this off properly, that'll be all that you need. If you can blast up the creature's nose, or into his eye, you could hit his brain and take him down.

What the hell, it's worth a shot.

As the beast looms over Damon, eyeing the object in the human's hand with curiosity and annoyance, you break into a run, charging across the room and leaping onto the unsuspecting beast's back.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" the creature demands, beginning to violently jerk around his body in an effort to throw you off.

Hanging on for dear life, you channel your Spirit Energy into your right finger, and jam that finger up the beast's nose.

"Argh!" he roars in surprise. "If you were trying to poke me in the eye, you aimed a little low."

"SPIRIT GUN!"

The energy you've gathered explodes from your fingertip in a thin beam of blue light, shooting straight up into the monster's head and coming out the other side, shooting just past your own face.

The beast goes still, falling forward on top of Damon, with you still clinging to its back and your finger jammed up its nose.

"This was the strongest I've fought, by far," you tell your friend.

Damon looks down at the creature again, raising an eyebrow in surprise. "We beat it without anybody getting too hurt. How weak were the ones you've been fighting?"

"Don't underestimate this creature, or yerselves," Aria cautions. "It would have taken at least a dozen men and women with firearms to face this creature, and even then, they likely would have failed."

With a hide as tough as his, you guess that makes sense. Without you hitting him in the brain, he probably would have ripped you and the others apart. Had Damon not shielded himself, only you and Aria may have survived.

"That shield you used was pretty great," you tell Damon.

He looks up at you. "Thanks. I have no idea how I did it, but thank God I did."

>>D. IT's simple when you use the lens you start to focus your energy in a body part, more precisely the eye. For what i see spiritual energy is something the more you use the stronger you become? So all that perving you did with the lens helped you focused your energy to a body part, the most incredible thing is that you focused your energy in such a way in a object and coated it in energy. Much like it i coated a fist with it. But that is just a educated guess.

Well enough, but this brings to light how completely without training either of us are, Aria. We need to do something to up our abilities. Train Damn on that shield technique, increase our Spirit reserves, train up or switch off the Spirit Gun. You said it was one of the more common techniques. What are the others? Is there some meditation or something we can do to broaden our energy pool? Some crackpot old loon in the mountains with crypitc and sage advise?

But yeah, let's get out of here.

Aria nods. "You should always try to improve, but be a little proud of yerself. A monster like this is dangerous, and ye managed to figure out a way to beat 'im. Good on ye, Will."

"That was a pretty good strategy," Damon agrees. "You weren't sure if your Spirit Gun could break through his skin, so you decided to attack his insides."

He takes another look at the creature. "Good thing you made that shot. I feel like he was getting tired of giving us second chances."

Your stomach growls, and you look to your friends, managing a small smile. "Anybody in the mood for some pizza?"

"I could go for a slice," Damon tells you agreeably.

"That sounds nice," Aria tells you with a smile.

And so the three of you leave the building, and the fallen demon, behind, heading off to enjoy a relaxing, and well-deserved meal together.

Regarding the spirit shield Damon made, does this mean he's significantly more talented than Kuwabara ever was? Kuwabara needed the hilt of a wooden sword made of some special spiritual wood in order to make his spirit sword, Damon did it with a fukn trash can lid

Who knows? Maybe it's because, at the time, Kuwabara was hoping Genkai would help deafen his spiritual senses, while Damon seems plenty willing to embrace his.
