Hello again fellow creators. We will be starting this thread again on Moon World Rienia from the the start of the Mid Magedivatian Era, to the Late Magedivatian Era.

As GM, I'll do my best to actively work on phylogeny charts to track the evolutions, and also make random events for the world to drive evolution down new paths. Since I've done this a few times now, and taken the time to observe/lurk on other EvoGames, I've picked up a few new tricks to keep everything organized and streamline too. Also we'll be returning to Janus after this second thread for Rienia.

How to play:
• Open an image of a species in MS Paint, or your editor of choice
• Make one evolutionary change to that species
• Save as .PNG!
• Post your new species in the thread with a description of what evolution you've added and why.
• Details indicating what the generation of your species is important. Please indicate. (Base Organisms are Generation 0)
• Details regarding a creatures size or name are encouraged, but not required.
• Nothing too outlandish. Anything silly or derailing will not be considered a canon species 95% of the time.

Notes:
• Unless stated explicitly, no species ever goes extinct. Old species can still evolve, even if they're not on the latest "chain"
• Try to make your evolutions gradual and realistic in biological standards.
• Everyday I'll add an update Phylogeny Chart to track changes. These take awhile, so please be patient.
• Expect a Random World Event at the end of this thread to shake up the world and game.
• There will be no Mass Extinction Event for this era, but this will be the final era the Base Organisms are available for evolution.
• When this thread reaches its endpoint, we will be switching back over to Moon World Janus next thread.

Present Setting: As Janus enters the Mid Magedivatian Era, it experiences a gradual warming. The glacial extent of Rienia's ice caps begin to recede, carving the landmasses as they melt for new freshwater bodies to appear in. Due to the moon world's smaller tropic zone, much the ocean temperatures remain unchanged, only rising 1°C globally. In this time the warmer temperatures on land makes life on land even more hospitable, even flourishing in the wet, tropical climates of Rienia. Life on land has begun making its first steps, with a handful of pioneering organisms exploring the new frontier, but life now face a new challenge on land as it grows larger: 20% heavier gravity. Life in the oceans meanwhile has stayed mostly the same, though many new Halikots have evolved to dominate the open oceans. The female Haaga's tails solidify into a spiked Club-like fin that they use to defend themselves from predators (as a face full of club is enough to dissuade many predators). Males undergo a similar development, but their tails fins don't fuse, only one side of their tail grows club-like and it lacks spikes. This new defence allows the Haaga that remain in the ocean to grow larger than they could before.

Some meliswirl find their way to cave systems on Landmasses 5 and 6, (Cardiat and Ovulon respectively) where they begin to feed on cave Kelp.

To tear these plants out of the walls and ceilings, they jump out of the water with the speed afforded to them by their tail, and rip them out with a screwdriver-like mouth apendage that they develop, which is capable of turning almost around its axis.

Some larger variants of the Cave Bryum begin bearing fruit for the Caveswirl (>>1218968) to devour - ensuring that the aforementioned animal doesn't rip the whole plant with the roots out and instead only takes the loose sitting fruit.

Additionally, the fruit has spores in it that when deficated can sometimes attatch to new parts of the cave system.

Other Melswirm develop a pair of feelers with very rudimentary light sensors that jut from the head. In addition their head changes shape slightly, developing a pair of curved prongs on either side of it to defend its neck from opportunistic hunters.

The Ruby Kelp grows a larger root network, and modifies its old roots into tubers for storing energy and nutrients, especially water. Together, these attributes let it move farther away from sources of water, and they form large fields that cover much of Cardiat and Ovulon.

Also, naming landmass 3 D'Nesnote and island 4 Eteap.

Some Desert Petroc return from their arid habitat, growing alongside the Ruby Kelp. They extend the pod that contains their seeds, both to allow the wind to carry them farther and make it more difficult for herbivores to reach them.

Landmass 7 is Knodge.

Some Ruby Kelp start growing rampant, as a mutation in their genetic code has them not only grow a singular head, but multiple ones intertwined, fused together.

Some Troc develop a long nozzle at the end of their bodies. These new "Trocket" will swallow water which can later be launched out of the nozzle, causing the Trocket to speed forward, allowing it to easily close the distance between itself and prey. Their mouths have also begun to develop extremely basic teeth-like growths, that make feeding far easier.

Their small size causes them to rely less on killing their prey, and more on ripping off enough material from their prey to sate their hunger, which both their speed and small size aid in immensely.

In essence, look at the charts: If it's Gen 1-3, it's fair game.

Look at the thread: Anything posted in it, you can evolve, as long as it's not got "Gen:8" or higher on it.

This is a temporary mode that happens every so often to avoid having single organisms that people evolve over and over as pet species while others are ignored, leading to a boring ecosystem.

Some Pararoc migrate to the large freshwater lakes in island 10 and landmass 9, now called Yurdlad and Redger respectively. The plant loses the chemosynthesis, becoming a darker color better suited to a diet of only photosynthesis. The Telili stays fairly unchanged, although does begin to regain the eyes that it once possessed but atrophied as they became less active. This is needed because the smaller space, loss of the nutrients supplied through mutualism with the Pararoc, and darker water all make the new freshwater environment much more competitive.

The one predatory species which "integrates" multiple other species to become an overpowered mary sue. See: that giant tentacled poisonous-algae-spewing crab from that otherwise decent evo game.

If this evo game allows "integration" of more than two species then I am 50% sure that it will crash and burn, and that % is only so low because of the evolution speed limitation rule.

the swarmeli develops basic nostrils to smell food, particularly freshly dead carcases, that it uses to smell them and move for them. whenever something dies a crowd of swarmeli will gather and devour it in an instant. awhile they are incapable of defending themselves, they show up in such large numbers that they really don't need too, as one dead swarmeli means nothing when there's still another 999 in the swarm to continue the herd. as a result they become an easy pic for low lesser/smaller predators, such as the >>1218938 and the long tongue halikot.

Some Collonyum start to fulfill to niche of smaller marine plants, shrinking and becoming more suited to living in close proximity to each other. They move the berries inside their leaves to keep the current from breaking them off.

The marshes at the bottom left of the Split Shelf are shallow, but murky enough that it is still difficult for light to pass through. The Marsh Kelp overcomes this by sprouting a series of long, thin leaves on one end of its body. These are able to stick out of the water and collect energy without being blown over or requiring too much effort to grow.

The Northern Hawkie inhabit island and landmass 8, now named Noume & Theac. They grow a rough, broad tongue, which is used in conjunction with their beak to feed on the roots of the Ruby Kelp, the only plant that grows in such cold southern latitudes. They also slightly improve on their eyes, mostly making them better at differentiating color to help spot red plants among the dirt, rock, and ice.

Following the Hawkie, the Reagelkilot begins making short trips onto land, developing a pair of short, gill-lined tubes running the length of the snout above the roof of its mouth. By flexing specialized tissue derived from jaw muscles, it can move air in and out, allowing it to exchange gasses without losing too much moisture. These are unable to provide enough oxygen for the Reagalkilot to survive for extended periods on land, but a dozen or so minutes is all it needs to find and kill a Hawkie. The long, thin snout with a end designed for grabbing is perfect for reaching into burrows and crevasses in search of prey.

I'm reminded (a bit forcibly through searching by brain) of tsubo bottles used to hold sake. They have a wide waist but a narrow mouth.

Another name I quite like for somewhere is Cramnick, just because it rolls off the tongue quite nicely.

The volcanic soil of isles 4, or Eamoht, are nutrient-rich and the perfect medium for plant growth. The Smolonyum adapts to living on the beaches of these islands, staying close enough to the tide line that they can spread their seeds but far enough inland to benefit from the nutrients in the soil.

The Caveswirl grows its front appendages into long, taste-sensitive antennae, allowing it to more precisely leap at the fruit of the Cave Bryum. The cave ecosystem is unable to support this increased efficiency, however, so the Caveswirl begins to hibernate for several weeks at a time when food starts to become scarce. It envelops itself in a mucus cocoon and suspends most metabolic activity, conserving energy and nutrients.

The Hawas that live in hotter climates develop thin, long bodies so that they're able to swim faster without overheating. They often live in between the branches of the Collonyum (>>1222599) for shelter. For the Collonyums, they'd be considered pests a colony of Hawas would eat the fruit the plant produces before any other animal would eat it.

The Smolonyums living in deeper and darker regions of the ocean have to fan out their leaves to catch every little bit of sunlight they can. Their berries grow in a pyramid structure, wherein the lowest ones are still protected from the current, while the riper ones get pushed upwards, to be either eaten or swept away - both works for the plant's reproduction.

They also develop a more gripping structure to not be swept away by the current themselves as easily.

seeing as the competition with the apex preditors of the Halikot is quite steep, and the selection process brutal, it proofs benefitial for some to respecialize in smaller game. They develop a smaller frame, more suited for hunting the smaller animals in the ocean and less energy intensive, while also shrinking in profile, losing some of the hair and knife length to be less of a target for their larger cousins.

Signed Byrum grow larger and they begin to earth their trailing vines as they grow older, allowing another plant to develop, though it is attached to its parent. Then the younger plant will develop a vine which will eventually earth itself and then the plant that grows from that will face the same, and so on and so on. This process allows the Singed Byrums to share the products of their Chemosynthesis, allowing all individuals to benefit from the relationship in times of trouble.

The Tempestuous Halikot increases in size and the sexual dimorphism increases further, resulting in further changes in body pigment and the shape of axe-head. The Tempestuous Halikot is gray until it becomes fertile in adulthood.

These Halikots mostly prey on their smaller cousins and the Thicc Trocs.

The Tempestuous Halikot population is relatively small when compared to its relatives, few of its species surviving into adulthood. This is mostly due to other smaller predators as well as the aggressive behaviour of females, seeing youths as potential future rivals.

The Thicc Troc's pressure sac develops a secondary role of being a primitive lung, it also develops a skin that is more resistant to loss of moisture. When the Swarmeli leaves the water and starts swarming, the Troc follows them. The troc expands its Gas sac during swarming season enough for it to slowly float 20 cm to 1,5 m above water level, its fins (functioning as cruse wings) and sacs (releasing gas, respectively regular air) aiding it in slooooooowly maneuvering. This docile creature only leaves the oceans during swarming season, being capable of spending 2 to 3 hours above water.

Because of this occasional behaviour these Trocs are now called Blimp Trocs.

The added calcium plate is just added fluff, explaining the structure the Thicc Troc has had for the last two generations.

The isolated species of Troc in Tsubo Gulf further split from the Blimp Troc. They split the claws into four sharp mouthparts, used to hold and kill prey after it's been caught. The four appendages on their underside continue to develop, growing long, sharp claws made of the same material as the claws. They hunt for Pale Meli by skimming the tip of the claws through the sand, gliding just above the seafloor.

The Slippery Hawa develops even larger mucus-producing organs, allowing it to create a large bubble of thick, bad-tasting slime around itself at all times. this means it has no predators and can grow larger, but as it is unable to smell or touch the outside world it grows a cluster of light-sensitive organs descended from modified neurons from its brain.

They normally blend in with the trunk, but have a frill they can puff up to hide in the crown as well. They also lose the useless webbing.

Natural selection encourages some populations of QT-Snowca to develop longer, forked tails. This evolution takes place in the south of the Abdominis Sea, in what I'll provisionally refer to as the East Wrechland Oceanic Region.

These longer tails allows them to increase their speed and so achieve a higher catching / chasing rate when hunting prey. However, their surface area / mass ratio also increases, making it harder for them to retain body heat in the frigid water and meaning that they rhave to catch more prey each day than their shorter-tailed relatives.

The Reagalkilot develops stronger legs and even toes in order to make more efficient trips onto land. They've even begun to become more amphibious, but they still can't stay out of the longer for too long. To combat the cold, some of the Reagalkilots closer to the poles grow more fur to cover their bodies and bulk up to store heat.

the kamikaze shivralsa, due to how close in proximity its target of landing is to nerves, develops a deadly neurotoxin in it body, complete with a powerful injecting system. it uses to strong muscles behind the venom sack to squeeze large quantities of venom through the hardened flesh on its mandibles, into the melscorp in a matter of seconds. this makes its killing method much faster then before, as it no longer has to rely on the slow blood based poison that was secreted slowly through its lips

Some Riverbank Halikot follow the Muddy Haaga into the swamps of southwestern Split Shelf. They adapt some armor on their feet to protect against stepping on Haaga and getting infected, as well as armor on their back in case an alsa variant attacks from above. Also, with the lose of the fins, they grow a tadpole-like tail for swimming.

A species of Byrock colonize Eamoht, growing into large, stony piles in the ashy ground. This have some strands of living tissue running through the dead organisms to carry nutrients, but otherwise most of the living plants are on the top of the stack. This is because, as a very young volcanic chain, Eamoht's soil, though fertile, is only a thin layer on top of porous stone. This means that seawater easily seeps the bedrock and into the loose dirt, causing saltwater "flooding" with the tide.

Some Caveswirl manage to migrate to the volcanic cave systems of Eamoht. they supplement their diet with Byrock Tower, finding their legs perfectly suited to climbed up the rocky stacks. Because this is a much easier and more nutritious food source, they start to specialize in eating it. They lose the teeth needed to grab fruit in midair, and get longer feelers to navigate in open space as opposed to claustrophobic but easily-navigable tunnels.

Some of these hawa, like their green cousins, develop sight. These hawa develop three primitive eyes - two look ahead for food whilst the third looks upwards for predators. It also develops a lobe fin to increase its speed, becoming the fastest of the small (size 1 - 2) hawa. The cause of these evolutionary developments is, of courses, the struggle to catch fleeing prey.

Some of the basal hawa begin to incorporate more scavenging and opportunism into their lifestyle, pressuring them to evolve nostril slits at the front of their body.

Nearly a 150 million years have passed since life took its pioneering step from simple multicellular life, into flourishing Biospheres on the Moon Worlds of Janus and Rienia. Life on both worlds has seen many violent events that have tested and charted the course of life and their host Moon Worlds.

Drawing into the Late Magedivatian Era the echoes of time and the world begins to shift once more on our young Moon Worlds. Life continues on unaware of the subtle forces at play that may one day bolster life, or lead to its ruination. And then their are the forces that linger in the far reaches of galaxy that lie in wait, watching for their opportunity.

So here's the deal fellow creators, this next Event, the Celestial Event that will impact both worlds will fall into your hands to decide. Five potential outcomes that will forever change the course of life on Janus and Rienia, and the fate of these worlds is in your hands.

The colonial hawa >>1227123 grow gradually more protective of their colony's collonyum, becoming aggressive towards other animals.

This pressures the basal hawa, which gives rise to a new species. The false colonist hawa crudely imitates the colonial hawa in order to fool their primitive eyes and graze on protected collonyum without hindrance. To that end, it develops large green blotches, grows larger and even develops fake eyestalks.

Due to competition from the Colonial Hawa, the Long Hawa migrates to the open ocean, feeding mostly off of free-floating basal Bryum but stealing a bite of Collonyum when possible. Without the protection that their previous lifestyle afforded, they are extremely vulnerable to predation. Taking advantage of their high speed and wide fins, the Long Hawa develop the technique of jumping out of the water and gliding for several minutes to escape danger.

It's basically arbitrary, could've been the other way around. A reason might be that the males don't waste energy and time on fighting other males, etc, thus being able to grow larger than their female counterparts.

the lesser melscorp, due to being out competed in life as a detretarian by the >>1241613 in warm tropical regions, the species gradually migrates to knodge, similar the the shivralsa before it. here it finds a plentiful supply of brilliantly preserved dead plant and animal matter due to the extreme cold freezing it. as a result it develops its body to better suit the cold, developing strong leaping back legs for launching it over rocky terrain, and a thick coating of white fluff.

Some Melsopede begin inhabiting the large fields of Ruby Kelp. They mainly feed on the tubers of the kelp, as well as the occasional Petroc. The large amount of iron in their diet changes the coloration of their skin, and they get larger jaws to help dig up and chew the roots.

In response to the arrival of the Plains Melsopede, the Petrand evolves serrated edges on its leaves to discourage other organisms coming near them. They also grow a ring of leaves around their spores, to ward off opportunistic Scotera.

Some Northern Hawkie, taking advantage of their burrowing habit, adopt an almost entirely underground existence underneath the fields of Ruby Kelp and Petrand. They eat the roots and tubers of both plants, and gain several minor changes to assist in this. First, their tongue becomes rougher to scrape through dense, fibrous flesh more easily; and second, they lose the lesser, anterior eye cluster (the rear eyes are kept because they are able to assist in digging I guess). Also, they lose pigmentation, hence the name.

A species of Petrand takes advantage of the fact that Rienia currently has no desert herbivores and grows several times larger. They gain a very large but fairly shallow root network, allowing them to capture all moisture that they can, and get thin, sprawling leaves which are coated in a thick layer of wax to prevent moisture loss.
