"Krall, get down!"

You're tackled to the ceramic tiles by Dae as the first volley of blaster bolts salvos just overheard where you had been standing moments prior. Screams reverberate through the plaza in response. Dae's lithe, muscular form blankets you, her chest swelling into your own with heavy breaths as the adrenaline begins to course it's way into her veins. In a few deft movements, you find her hand in yours -pulling you to your feet. In an instant, you assess the situation facing you.

Several smoking corpses lie unmoving on the ground in the middle of the Octagon, some alien and some human. The twi'lek speaker is nowhere to be seen, apparently either having fled or taken cover as soon as the commotion began. The crowd of mixed alien species is attempting to do the same, although they are surrounded by the nearly dozen gunmen aiming down their barrels for another salvo. You catch an armed man breaking the bonds of the confused, auctioned twi'lek slaves.

The Zeltron man you recognize as your boss appeared equally startled by the sound of discharging firearms, though he doesn't have the luxury of distraction. Just as he seems to recover from being thrown through the broken window of the establish, the nearest of the four Gammoreans slugs him back down to the ground where he lies still for some moments. Two of the Gammoreans look to be drawing their axes as he coughs back to life.

>Attack the nearest of the gunmen with Dae, your boss will have to somehow manage this
>Show up to your boss's rescue, let Dae burn headlong into the terrorists
>Attack the gunmen, send Dae to support your boss
>You have to ignore the plight of these civilians for now, you can't leave your boss in danger like this

Welcome to Old Republic Surveyor Quest. You are Krall Sivron, a Nautolan Surveyor working for the Old Republic in the era just prior to the Mandolorian Wars.

As of the last thread, you landed on Ryloth to search for and report to your boss. In your investigation, you came to realize the plight that catastrophic climate had brought to Ryloth in recent times, and the anger amid some of the populace that came with it. You searched a local bar and taught Dae pazaak, gaining information about your boss's whereabouts in the process. You found his predicted location, but decided to accompany Dae on her own personal journey first. However, you've been cut rather short by an alarming attack...

We rejoin our protagonist in the midst of this ongoing act of terror.

No time to lose! "Dae," you draw your own pistol and aim it at the nearest twi'lek gunman, "go help out the Zeltron! Those Gammoreans will tear him apart if we don't do something!"

You glance to your right just before firing, and notice Dae isn't even there anymore. Say what you want about the girl, but she listens like no other...she didn't even hesitate for a second. A streak of bright blue light flashes in the distance as you pull the trigger on your own target. Completely unexpected, your shot hits the alien right through his exposed neck, leaving him writhing in his own fluids on the ground and gasping for air.

If you had lingered on the sight, it probably would have haunted your thoughts later on. However, time is a luxury you cannot afford right now. High off the kick of rushing adrenaline, you pivot immediately and fire another round towards another Twi'lek terrorist who'd noticed your sudden entry. The bolt hits her straight in the chest over her heart! You watch the rifle drop from her hands as her body collapses and twitches with empty eyes, driven momentarily unconscious from your weapon's fire.

The ten remaining attackers fired off another salvo, to the screams of fleeing and falling bystanders. Unfortunately, your blaster fire distinctly echoed first through the stone buildings all around. A handful of the Twi'leks turn towards you, rage painted across their faces as they aim their rifles at the newest intruder to their homeworld. Your element of surprise is long gone!

Not too far away, you hear the pained yelp of a man beaten once more...but it is nearly drowned out by a background humming noise. Crackles of plasma and the shocked, piggish squeals that accompany the former sound not long after leave you assuming that Dae is making light of her situation. More cracks of bright blue and audible whirls of condensed energy force your curiousity, however, and you glance over to catch Dae wielding two long, blue sabers made of crackling, thrumming energy. Your boss is shuffling to his feet, unhooking what looks like a short, metal stick from his belt.

You have options here, thankfully. Though structurally open, the plaza is dotted with stalls all around. Additionally, the building surrounding the tourist destination are flat-roofed, and are criss-crossed with winding, most likely intersecting, alleys between. There's perhaps 15 meters...no, less, between you and the next closest Twi'lek gunman. Four of the ten remaining are focused on you, though you doubt the other six are any more than slightly preoccupied preparing to commit another galactic rights crime of mass murder. You're not watching Dae closely, but she seemed to be mentally in her element, maybe even more so than when she casually exploring the city. Your boss is undoubtedly hurting, and probably pretty bad.

>Use the stalls as disposable cover as you run and gun around the perimeter of the Octagon
>Backtrack into the surrounding web of alleyways to either gain a vantage point/perch, or flank
>Attack them head on, you can't afford to waste time with lives at stake

File: Shootout.jpg (309 KB, 847x526)

309 KB JPG
In the moment you hesitate to consider your next option, two of the twi'leks open fire on you! Your thoughts fleeing faster than your own feet, you stumble to the ground trying to dash out of the way and the bolts sear overhead! Catching yourself just barely, your legs continue to drive you towards the nearest cover, the trinket stand from earlier. With blaster fire nipping at your heels and barely managing to keep your balance, you make a final dive behind the obstruction. Just in time, as you hear the heavy splintering and hissing of thick wood as live ammunition burrows deep into the front of the market stand.

You catch your breath as another cycle of rounds pound against the flimsy defense, several super-heated shots of plasma even fly through and past your astonished face. Squeals of pain and a surprised girl's cry ring out across the grounds.

Dae.

Still carrying the last bit of adrenaline in your veins as far as possible, you slide just out of cover from the opposite side and spontaneously fire off several rounds. Perhaps less fortunately for the approaching twi'lek, your shots manage to fully connect with his rifle and the weapon explodes in his hands.

You shuffle over to a another adjacent stall with a better viewpoint, just in time to catch your own boss -apparently feigning the extent of his own injuries- jab a stun baton into an unaware Gammorean, who collapses in a twitching heap. Nearby, another Gammorean lies still and peppered full of smoking blaster bolts next to two bisected, red-hot axes. While Dae has occupied two of the grown pigs, luck hasn't favored her entirely and her own inexperience is catching up. She's holding her slumped arm. The unexpected volley of fire may have injuries the piggish assailants, but it has also left a blackened hole where it impacted Dae's limb.

The terrorists continue to open fire on the thinning, dispersed crowd and the bodies only continue to mount. However, you suspect that it won't be long before you capture their full attention...and anger. The Gammoreans, numbers halved and under attack from a third-party themselves, are hesitating. They likely are interested in fleeing this bloodbath as well. Nobody wants to be the odd alien out at a xenophobic massacre, after all.

[Dae: Vitality 20/28]

>Contact Dae on the comlink, you need to bail. Now.
>Continue to attack the terrorists firing on the crowds. You may be a simple surveyor, but you're not going to let more innocents die here.
>Make a dash for the alleyways. You can probably find better ground and draw off some of the gunmen to chase you. Dae and your boss can make their own way back.

You whip out the com as you press your back against the stall, "Dae! Grab Zeph and find some cover!"

Just as you hear the electronic static of a reply, something catches your attention instead. The ring of some sort of metal tapping against the ground...

You look over to see a fragmentation grenade skipping lightly to a halt just next to you.
SHIT!

You make a break straight out of your cover and sprint for several meters...until the blast hits you from behind. As you go tumbling through the air and across the ground in a mass of pain and limbs, your right eye catches a flash of red, suddenly is engulfed in a burning sensation, and goes completely dark. With a solid crack, you land rather ungracefully a number of yards away but pick yourself up out of pure instinct clawing through your thoughts.

Keep running, or you're toast

From the partial darkness you spot two waving figures, one green and one pink, and you make one last dive to meet them, landing spralled out onto a carpeted floor. Several cracks of deflected plasma bolts later, Dae appears next to you, grimacing. However, her eyes go wide on inspecting you.

"Krall -by the maker- your face! Are you ok-"

"Taste summa' this, you tentacle-headed gasbags!"

Before you can even reassure Dae, you're interrupted by the machismo, enthusiastic battlecry of your Zeltron boss as activates the thermal detonator in his hand! He begins to lob the explosive, but flubs it when he dives out of the line of site midway through to dodge the specifically aimed volley of blaster fire. You....wait, aren't those illegal?

The massive explosion from outside blows in gouts of burning hot air through the broken window of the Twisted Lekku Cantina. Unfortunately, you saw that thermal detonator land nowhere near anything that would be helpful. Your boss gives a nonchalant, annoyed glance to the two of you, entirely ignoring the earth-rumbling crash outside as a nearby building collapses in the inferno.

"Shit, those nasty hombres ain't lickin' around. Don't you worry, Sivs, ol' Diamond Zeph snagged another two of those funky fireworks from a buddy back on Corellia," Zeph casually unpacks another two of the deadly, highly illegal explosives from his pockets. "I'm telling you, those snakeheads won't even know what hit them, just you watch."

He looks offhandedly to Dae, "No offense babe."

You look on horrified as you boss casually bounces the thermal detonators off the floor. "Zeph, do you even know what those are?!"

He scoffs, lobbing another one over his shoulder and out the window. "Yeah, they're fucking sweet." Another massive shudder rocks the building, along with the accompaning torrent of blistering air and crashing architecture.

Hands meet the blinded side of your face, and you see Dae's concerned face as she gently inspects your injury. As she extends her right arm a tad bit further though, you see her visibly twinge in pain and the arm temporarily slumps. The blackened impact site of the blaster bolt engulfs a sizeable portion of her upper arm. It looks debilitating...but you can't exactly talk, considering you can only see it with one eye.

If nothing else, Zeph's antics have caused a sizeable distraction. You could use the opportunity to hop out of cover and attempt to escape the scene. However, you'd have to do it without treating either yourself or Dae first, as whatever cover granted by the impulsive explosions will be gone by the time you finish. Alternatively, you could head deeper into the Twisted Lekku Cantina. Hopefully you could find an emergency exit.

Why not a Mandalorian Assault Rifle (3-10 damage, +2 accuracy) and a Heavy Exosuit (essentially the best medium armor, if not armor flat out)? We can use both.

But yeah for gear I wouldn't mind head gear like Demolitions Sensor for irony's sake or Interface Band wouldn't be to unlikely a find.

Anon made a good point.

1. Part is finding a really good thing for our robot to bring it closer to being built.

2. Advanced Agent Interface or Mandalorian Assault Rifle

I forgot we got a new blaster so earlier and we're not using an actual Wiki but the one EA and its shitty game has.
>>
>>1207160
Actually, I looked at the stats. A Mandalorian Heavy Blaster is more powerful and accurate (4-11, +3) than a Mandalorian Assault Rifle (3-10, +2) on top of having a +2 physical damage bonus, which the Assault Rifle doesn't have (instead it gets a 25% chance per shot to inflict a stun with a very low DC). It can't be upgraded like the Assault Rifle though.
>>
>>1207160
And before you say it, I don't understand why a pistol is better than an assault rifle either.
>>
Not sure that it would make sense for us to find Mando gear at this point in the plot.

Well, a distraction is a distraction, though you hardly have any desire to go back outside again. You look back into the room you're in and the empty center bar in the room beyond. The place must have cleared out pretty quick with the gunfire outside, but since you didn't catch anyone else running out of the entrance...it probably has a back exit somewhere.

"Cmon," you fight to your feet once more, "that explosion won't be a distraction for much longer. Let's check for an exit. Sir," you motion to your boss, still casually juggling the spare thermal detonator, "what do you think about making sure nobody uninvited comes in through the front door looking for us? We'll check for the exit."

Your rather childish boss, Zeph Hedonis, catches the explosive nonchalantly as a wide grin stretches across his face. "I got that no problemo, Kyle...er, Karly...."

"Krall"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. I never liked this joint anyway, kept riding my groove and all that. Check it, these ballbusters won't see this muscle coming for miles." Zeph staggers to his feet, ignoring the blaster bolt that flies through the window next to him. He swaggers in a wide, swaying walk to the end of the room, hiccuping as he turns the corner. You give Dae an apologetic glance. "HEY! If you catch the stereo in this crib, snap the tuneage back on! Also, snag your boss some more Juma!" Zeph's voice calls from around the corner.

You walk into the main room, where barstools, tables, chairs, and various bottles lay scattered across the floor. A sparking serving droid is strewn across the ground, seemingly crushed underfoot to the point of no return. There are several branching rooms from the center bar, and you'd assume they're all just as haphazard and trashed as this one. In the middle of the rotunda-like bar, a large globular tank of water sits eerily still. The place is deserted except for you, and the patrons did a number on it during their evacuation.

Dae -still holding her arm- ambles over to the bartop and sits down for a moment to rest. You crouch down to inspect the droid, momentarily lamenting the gross mistreatment of the construct. However, you'll take what you can get, and this droid isn't going to function again.

You start walking around the room, salvaging what you can from the scene. As you do so, boisterous music suddenly begins to jingle from the speakers around the establishment. You nearly jump, and turn to Dae to see her leaning back after flipping on the Twisted Lekku's sound system once more. Just as you start to relax, the massive, ground-shaking explosion catches you off guard and continuous to do so as it pulses to the crashing of fallen, broken debris. A cloud of dusty rubble and hot air blare from the room leading to the front entrance. Your boss stumbles out of it, coughing but laughing like a child. "WOOOO, buddy! What a blast! Now, if you'll excuse me..."

Zeph stumbles past you in an enthusiastic jog and hurdles over the bartop, though his foot catches and he disappears behind it with a crash. He reappears moments later, two large, purple bottles in hand. "It's happy juice time! Heh heh hehh..." Zeph begins to chuckle, then laugh heartily as he finally recalls the pun he just made. He then doubles over and vomits violently out of view as a violet-hued puddle spread across the floor from behind the bar. Apparently, he laughed too hard. Dae gapes at him, both horrified and disgusted.

However, your boss pops right back up from behind the counter, shakily holding two objects in hand. "Whew, my bad, hombres, I just needed to shoot that outta the airlock. Guess those iriz skewers didn't soak up the Juma as well as i thought. Haven't been this totally tanked since my last holiday on Zeltros. Anyways, these were back here. Consider them an apology, Kralo." You catch them just in the nick of time.

The pistol is nearly two-thirds the length of your arm and HEAVY as anything. It easily puts your own blaster rifle to shame. Its odd design and metallic outer coating feels almost purposefully rough and grating to your bare fingers as it eminates an unabashedly powerful heat from inside. But, on inspecting it...your blood freezes once more. Even with your single eye, you can see the stamped mark on the handle. You take the charred medallion from your pocket...no, you didn't mistake it. The visor is made of a transparisteel and crystalline alloy mixture, and displays various graphs and user interfaces on the interior band.

"S'one of those MANDOLORIAN pistol types. Real badass diablos, real nasty bastards if you ask me." Your boss chirps offhandedly as he looses a burp. "Whew, maybe a hard pass on that Juma for now. Not trying to paint the floor for at least another week." Zeph comes over and stuff the bottles into your own pack, even though their necks still out.

He licks his finger and sticks it into the air, deep in thought for a breif few moments. He points decisively towards the room in the back, marching towards it without explanation. You figure he probably is directing you towards the exit...though it could also be the bathrooms, given his condition. Dae coughs uncomfortably as she looks at you, almost pleadingly. You shrug. While clearly interrupted during happy hour, this isn't too far off from what you normally have to deal with when it comes to Zeph.

You follow in your boss's tracks, taking the opportunity to collect spare, dropped items here and there when you spot them.

Luckily for you, it turned out to be the exit. Zeph proudly shoves open the back door into the raining alleyway. Cautiously, you poke your head out...

Nobody in sight.

You sigh in relief. Looks like you're in the clear for now.

Treat second boss while talking to first boss to find out what happened and what our next mission should be. Then find some local authorities and let them know what happened before we take off.

Door still open, you pull Dae aside just as she tries to brush by. She looks at you with the tired, subtely pained eyes of someone whose been lost for far too long. You pull a nearby, overturned chair from the floor for her. "Let's look at your arm, Dae. I can't let you keep walking around like that."

Dae squints with concern back at you. "I can manage, Krall. I'm a trained Jedi Padawan. The jedi doesn't allow pain to consume their....their..." She stops as you gently take her arm. You'd let her say whatever she'd wanted while you unpacked several spare bandages from two of the medpacs. You take the injectors from the medpacs, filled with no more than a gram of bacta each, and apply them above and inside the blackened pit of a wound. Dae winces and sulks at you, "Please Krall...you're injured worse than I am. Don't waste your time tre-"

"You're hurt, Dae. That's all that matters to me right now. If I didn't help you now I probably wouldn't be able to think straight, Jedi or not. Plus...you're my boss, remember? You always come first in my book."

[Influence Gained: Dae Volya]

Dae's cheeks tint a light shade of pink. She mutters something incomprehensible as you continue to work on her now visibly healing arm. You call over to Zeph as you now apply synth skin to Dae, asking about the assignment you were supposed to get.

"Assn' what now? Oh, assignment, right. Real rough-and-touble one from the top, Kriss. Some kind of shelter or jazz like that they want u- YOU to scope out. The nasty spike is that it's down south, near Ryloth's hot equator. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about going to the hot south for a little patch action, if you catch my drift, but this is Ryloth we're talking about here. There are some frisky beasties crashing there that even I don't wanna tango with."

So, an abandoned shelter of some kind? Looks like a source of scout and salvage duty. The idea of Ryloth's wild beasts doesn't exactly leave you thrilled with the job. At least you can take comfort in knowing that Ryloth's most dangerous predator, the Lylek, sticks to the arid regions outside the humid jungles of the planet's equator.

"Um, Krall..."

You look back to Dae, and realize you'd absentmindedly been wrapping the bandages up to her bare shoulders. "A-Are you done yet?" Dae doesn't make eye contact, instead opting to stubbornly stare away at a wall while she blushes.

Oops. "Yeah, all done."

"Thanks," Dae replies simply. She hurriedly scampers out of the room into the alley, avoiding any potentially embarrassing eye contact on her part.

You follow Dae and Zeph out into the alleyway, ready to make your next move. Your assignment needs to be completed, of course, but the authorities need to be alerted to what's happened.

Suddenly, you hear the echos of blaster fire in the distance.

Then you catch more from the opposite direction.

A distant, fading scream joins the chorus.

What is happening? This...doesn't sound good. You mentally try to recall the layout of the city that you made a point to remember earlier. The starport should be farther up the mountain spire city...but the Republic embassy? The police station?

A explosion in the distance breaks the silence.

You'll have to find directions on the way. "C'mon, somethings not right. I get the feeling we're short on time, but we need to find the authorities. Let's go." You head down the alleyway with your two companions at your heels and into the drizzling rain of the streets once more. It's disorienting, only seeing rain with one eye but feeling wetness on the other side of your face. You take a sharp right turn to head up the sloping ro-

"Daes'Havolya...is that you? Do my eyes deceive me?"

You pivot sharply and grasp at the handle of your Hold-Out blaster in your pocket. Approaching you quickly is a tannish-green young twi'lek man. He's visibly armed with one blaster pistol holstered on his hip and another in his hand, pointed at the ground. Dae turns around, a confused look on her face.

>It has to be some sort of trap. Fire on him before he gets close, you're not having a repeat of the last time you were on the streets
