Denise handed it to you in the lockerrooms, and immediately everyone started to marvel at it. “Whoa, check out how white it is!” or “Look at those epaulettes!” and even “It even comes with a handkerchief!” You gingerly put the uniform on, replacing your usual uniform. The Officer's Dress was basically a formal uniform for events such as today: the arrival of the new Naval Studies students ahead of the Fall Semester along with adult workers as well.It was basically the same idea as your usual uniform, except instead of varying shades of blue and red, it was almost all white with black trim along with the edge of the skirt, a red sash, and epaulettes denoting your rank. Your jacket as well was double breasted too with gilded buttons, and of course to add to it were your dark pantyhose and a pair of knee high jackboots provided too. “Wow, Ellie! You look amazing!” says Winona.“Yeah!” says Stack. “I bet y'all are gonna kill it at today's address!”Ingrid smirks a bit, lightly touching your sleeve. You slap her hand away, glaring at her. “Hey, sorry. Just- we don't get uniforms like this.”“This is because it's for formal occasions,” you say. “Besides, you can. You just have to pay for it.”“Pfft.” Stack rolls her eyes. “Who pays for their dress uniform.” You all look over to Josephina, who very shyly looks down at the ground. “... oh.”You snicker. “It's alright, Josephina.”“Oui, oui. You still look good, Elodie,” says Josephina.“Great!” You immediately start stripping. “Because I'm not going to wear it on the way.” They all go “huh?” at that. “What? I could get this thing dirty on the way! Denise is going to drive me! There's a light chance of rain today! I cannot give an address with even a single spot on this uniform! I'll look like a lazy idiot!”Stack snorts. “Bah, I'm sure it's fine, Ellie! Strut your stuff! You look amazing! You might even turn a few heads with that!”Winona leans over, smirking very smugly. “She's already turned mine. I love a girl in uniform.” You push Winona away.> “Fine. For now, I shall wear my default uniform! Isn't that right, Dnise?”Denise salutes. “Quite right, Ellie!”“Hmph.” Winona pouts. “I should've taken pictures.”“You can take pictures later,” you reassure her. “Right now. I am going to go. Later!” You take your bag and walk out with Denise.--By God, it is a light rain today. Thankfully, all it does is create a little mist, maybe wet the pavement a little, nothing too bad. It'll probably blow over in a little bit. You ride on the back of the Kettenkrad with Denise, then you receive a phone call from the Captain. “Hello?”“Elodie. It's Captain Spruance. Report to the command tower so we can figure out what we'll say to the new people, alright?” You nod. Now that you remember it, your parents ought to be attending as well. Oh boy, that'll go over smoothly.“Alright,” you say.“Good, good. Looking forward to your bit of the speech, try not to take too long, alright?”With that, you hang up. Denise looks back. “If it makes you feel better, Ellie, I think you'll be great!”“I'll be fine,” you say. “Thanks though, Deni-” The Kettenkrad suddenly bounces up. “Whoa, whoa! What was that?” You see the track on the left suddenly give way. Denise gently pulls the stricken half-track bike to the right, with her hazards on.“Oh dear,” says Denise. The two of you dismount. “I knew I should've replaced that track.” Denise smiles at you. “We're not that far from the command tower, Ellie! So go on ahead, I'll catch up.”> “No, no. Don't worry.” You run over to the shedded track, then drag it down the street towards the Kettenkrad. Denise has busted out the tools while you kneel down and get to work on replacing the pins in any of the tread links that look particularly rusted or out of shape. Thankfully, Denise keeps some spare pins on board, which allows you start work on repairing the Kettenkrad.“Right, this goes there...” Denise holds the track in place as you hammer one pin in. “Good! Excellent!” You smile a bit. Right, just a few more to go then-A car rushes by, splashing you all in water.…“Are you okay, Ellie?” asks Denise, soaked to the bone.“You know. This isn't even the most I've been soaked in my life,” you say.Another car drives by, proving you wrong.“Right, okay. I'm just going to shut up,” you say.You hear the squeaking wheels of a bicycle roll up next to your Kettenkrad. “My, my, my!” You all look over to see Caldwell, smirking smugly. She's apparently had the same idea as well, put the dress uniform on when she gets there. It's in a bag on her back it appears. “It appears your gas guzzler has gone gammy!” You roll your eyes. She helps hold the tracks in place so you can hamemr the pins in.--You managed to make it in on time thankfully. The two of you dress into your Officer's Dress without much fuss, and very soon you made it onto the bridge where the Captain address all the Block Officers. “Right, everybody.” Captain Spruance takes a sip from her juicebox, looking at everybody sternly. “I needn't remind you all that this address is going to shape how the new people will view LGA. We have all kinds of people coming in, we have General Studies students coming in early, we have Naval Studies students coming in, we have parents and adult workers coming as well, it'll be a diverse crowd. So we have to show them LGA will welcome them no matter what race, creed, religion, nationality, all that stuff. Okay?”“Yes, ma'am!” you say.“Good!” says Captain Spruance. “Now. I will introduce everybody first. Our advisors from the US Navy will have a chat, then we'll turn the floor over to Elodie Zumwalt.” Oh fuck. Everyone looks at you. “Since Elodie happens to be LGA's little rising star, I think she should have a moment. Any objections?”“No, ma'am!”“Good.” Captain Spruance smiles. “Alright. Briefing over. I'm just not the most um... social person.”“Really?” says Captain Spruance. “You don't act it.”“Well, I mean-” You sigh. “Look. Do you have any advice?”She holds up a finger. “What I do is stare off into the distance, and occasionally scan around the crowd as if I'm looking at them. But don't linger. Once you linger on someone and you see their expression, that's when it starts.” She taps her head, smirking a bit. “And when I mean stare off into the distance: consider the audience the distance. Consider them a brick wall, act as if you're just giving a speech to a brick wall!”“... so I have to pretend I'm giving a speech to no one like a lunatic,” you say.She snickers. “Hehe! Yeah!”Well. You're boned.--You, Caldwell, and the rest of the Block Officers sit back on stage. The Lecture Hall has more or less filled immensely quickly with fresh faces. Naval Studies students looking to start their time here on LGA, General Studies getting an early start, and parents and family moving in as well. You can spot your Mom and Dad easily even in this darkness, with the light only upon you. They're busy chatting up some of the other parents in their section with all of the adults. At least they're having fun. You're not.Caldwell smirks. “You look nervous.”“Buzz off,” you say.“Just saying!” Caldwell folds her arms. “If you need to, I can give the speech for you!”“Sure, -Lyra-.” She glares at you for that. “Seriously, I'd rather be anywhere else than here.”Caldwell huffs, then gently pats your knee. “You are such a wuss.” You brush her hand off your knee. “I swear, the moment you get up on stage, I bet you that you will embarrass yourself somehow.”> Boast> Neutral> Polite

Some of you might know me, some of you might not, but here on LGA I am one of the Block Officers. And what I do is manage the entirety of a Block's logistics details. So. Um.” You blink, looking around a bit. Scan, scan. “When I was a kid growing up in Trenton, I always wanted to go on an Academyship. But my family was very poor, so we didn't have much other opportunities. But that didn't stop me.” You hold up a finger. “The only thing that would stop me would be me. So I applied myself, I studied hard, I studied well, and boom. I'm one of the first salaried Officers on LGA. How about that?” You smile at them.Oh God.“But anyway,” you say. “I owe it all to my parents for raising me the right way, they're actually in the audience right now.” Several people turn their heads to Mom and Dad and clap for them now, which starts a very polite applause through the entire lecture hall. “Yes, yes, um.” Mom and Dad shyly wave back at everyone, nodding along. “So, here on LGA, we expect the best. And we do give the best. We hope that each and everyone of you here now will be some of the finest people that LGA has to offer. And we are willing to take you on that path on the high seas and to a culture of learning and freedom. Thank you.”The crowd applauds you as you go to sit back down. No, not really, in actuality you were quite proud despite the monstrosity of it. Over the weekend, Winona had Huxley and Benny work on the track system, which added an additional two sidetracks to the main tracks, and in effect gave it the appearance of...You're not entirely sure actually, but it looks kind of cool. The original Panzer IV hull was still there, albeit bulkier and with a large pike resembling that of the IS-3 front plate in the front for the heavy armor. Again, that's another one of the Winona's ideas. The turret was a boxy frame for a lot of rockets, the tank torpedoes if you recall correctly. Winona smiles happily. “Look at it! Can you believe it?” says Winona.Athena says, “And you're sure it's finished.”“Well...” Winona stops herself. “I mean. Actually, Unlimited isn't just about finishing. It's also about improving. I think, with a bit of elbow grease-”“Is it finished or not,” says Athena.Winona sighs, bemused. “It's done, Athena.”“I do have to say, Winona, it's quite a sight,” you say. “Is there anything left to do?”“Yeah,” says Winona. She grins. “We have to test drive it.”Athena says, “I'll leave you two to that. You two can do that. I'll just watch.” You suppose Griselda won't mind if this thing drove around on the training grounds outside of practice. You and Winona find ways to climb up and inside the... actually surprisingly spacious interior.“Winona, how did you get so much space in the interior with the Honeywell engine in back?” you ask.“Well, we aren't storing shells and we don't have a conventional gun so there was actually quite a lot we could get rid of,” says Winona. She sits next to you. “Right, Ellie. You know how to drive? Right! No visible fire, but it's likely to be an internal one. Winona starts spraying the engine in from the top while you get it from behind. You spray down the engine hurriedly and frantically. And thankfully, it appears the fire is contained. Right before the smoke alarms got tripped too. You were not looking forward to a lecture from Regina about fire safety.“I don't understand,” says Winona. “How did this happen? I- I'm pretty sure we did the electronics properly.”“It was probably an issue with a sparkplug or something,” says Athena. “How old is this Honeywell?”“Um, about ten years old?” she says. That's not too bad. It must not have been maintained properly beforehand. “Well.” Winona mopes a bit. “I guess we're going to have hold off on the drive until we can fix the issue. Hopefully that fire didn't do anything too bad.” The three of you roll up your sleeves and get to work.--It wasn't just a sparkplug and the fire did a lot more than you thought. Coolant was leaking, the battery short-circuited every time you tried to hit the starter, sparkplugs had to be replaced, there was also a slight fuel leak as well. The three of you sat in the tank, watching Winona press at the starter motor. What you thought was going to be at most two hours turned into four hours of hard laborious work. It was well-past dinner time now. You had to tell Griselda and Mom and Dad that you were out and you'd have food in your belly too. But you sat in the RO's seat with Athena laying back in what was once the turret.…Winona sighs, resting her head back. “Come on.” She tries the starter again.…“Come on!” She jams the button harder.> “Winona, it's not going to work just because you press the button hard.”> “Winona, it's not going to turn over.”> “Maybe we missed something.”> Other

It's alright if this doesn't work. Me and Ellie can still help you out with it.”“Yeah,” you say. “Don't worry.”“I just-...” Winona rubs her face with her hand. “I want to get this done. I want this to be a success! And so far, nothing is working!” She slaps the dashboard, shaking her head. “I bet the missiles don't even work either.” Athena looks to the controls in the turret, apparently tempted. “This is just...” She kicks the floor of the tank. “Damn it!” She jams her thumb onto the starter. “Work!”You try to talk some sense. “Winona-”Suddenly the tank rumbles, screeching loudly. You hear the powerful Honeywell engine behind you suddenly scream into life. You all look back, then at each other. Winona starts laughing, and you all hug each other. It works! It actually works! “It works! It's alive! IT'S ALIIIIVE!” She pumps her fists, yelling out in glee. Even Athena gives you a very hard high-five, hugging you tightly. “Yes! Alright, let's take this baby for a spin! How about we head to the training grounds!” She grabs the controls, then speeds the tank forward out of the hangar. You lean back at the ferocious speed of this monster, before adjusting yourself. Oh fuck. This is hazardous! “Yahooooo!”--All the crews come out to see the tank running the track around the training grounds. Griselda has graciously turned on the lights to illuminate the field, showing the tank off in its full glory. You hit a switch, firing a torpedo out. It explodes brilliantly when it hits the ground. “Yahoooooo!” yells Athena. “Awesome!”“Yeah!” says Winona. The ride is not the smoothest. The tank rattles like a maraca. And every time one of the torpedoes fire, you can feel the tank get blown back by the backblast from the rocket. This is horrific! And yet so grand!“Ahaha!” Suddenly the tank starts grinding to a halt. “... we're out of gas!” says Winona.“How long was that?” asks Athena.“About thirty minutes,” says Winona. “I-... haha! It's nice that you care though, Ellie.”“After the tournament, what are you planning on doing then?” you ask. She's got to have some kind of endgame for the team. She did start it after all. She can't have started it just to go one season then go back to the ITL.“I... I'd like for the team to stay together,” she says. “But... I don't know.
