"Sometimes a hard head comes in handy," you tell your opponent, rushing across the ring to attack.

Chun gets into a defensive stance, waiting for you, and you attempt to throw him off by making ample use of the Afterimage technique, leaving nearly a dozen copies of yourself swarming around your foe, who barely spares a glance for any of them.

You attempt to strike from behind, but without even looking at you, Chun raises a fist, bringing it up to slam into your nose as you approach him. Your hands rise to your face as you stagger back, and quickly find yourself standing at the very edge of the ring, pinwheeling your arms to keep yourself from falling off of the edge.

You expect Chun to come at you, but instead, he calmly walks toward the center of the ring, turns to face you, and gestures for you to come at him.

"With a clear early advantage, Jackie Chun seems to have grown quite confident, and hasn't even bothered attempting to end the match," the announcer tells the crowd. "He's moved himself to the center, and is inviting Tofoo to come for another round!"

Regaining your balance, you glare over at Chun as you decide your next move. There's one advantage that you could use. At least, you hope so.

Jackie Chun wasn't able to fly during the last two tournaments in which he competed. Hopefully, he still has that weakness, and you can exploit it to defeat him with aerial attacks.

Deciding to give it a shot, you take to the sky, climbing high above the ring, and firing a barrage of energy blasts down at your foe, who begins to nimbly hop around the ring, moving between the attacks and avoiding damage.

He doesn't simply wait for you to run out of energy. Instead, he leaps into the air, heading right for you. He may not be able to fly, but he can jump good. Not that it matters. By coming rushing at you, he's left himself with little ability to maneuver, and you quickly make him regret his decision, hitting him in the face with an energy blast and sending him tumbling backwards toward the floor of the ring.

Upon impact, Chun looks up to see more blasts raining down at him. Your attacks kick up a cloud of dust that obscures him from sight. As he doesn't emerge, you continue to fire, until a blue glow begins to emanate from the cloud, and a beam of light shoots up toward you.

Turning quickly, you thrust your hands toward the old man, who is seconds away from striking. You feel a warmth pass through your arms and up into your palms, and a golden wave of light explodes toward your opponent.

His eyes go wide in surprise, and you hear him make a sound of worry as he swings his arms, attempting to alter his course, but to no avail. Your aim is perfect, and he lacks the time necessary for evading your attack.

The beam of energy slams into the old man's gut, causing him to hunch over as he's sent flying from the ring. The energy wave pushes him higher and higher into the sky, and it gives no signs of stopping.

"It doesn't look like Jackie will be coming back any time soon!" the announcer shouts. "It may be too soon to say, but I think Tofoo has just won his battle!"

Just before he vanishes from sight, you see Jackie make some sort of movement, and the blast changes course, taking a more straight path into the sky, while Jackie himself seems to plummet toward the ground.

His ring-out seems inevitable, but a blue beam of light shoots out from Jackie, and begins to propel him back in your direction.

You aren't about to let Jackie pull that crap to get himself back in the game. This match is yours to win, and it's time to claim your victory.

Focusing your energy, you feel a warmth move up your right arm and into your hand, accompanied by a tingling sensation. You extend your arm toward the approaching warrior, unleashing a ball of energy infused with electricity.

When you last battled with Jackie Chun, he used a lightning based attack to shock you into defeat. Not only did that attack cost you the championship, but it severely damaged your body, nearly resulting in your death at the hands of the Red Ribbon Army. Though all of these things seem a lifetime ago, you can't help but smile at the thought of giving Chun a taste of his own medicine.

Once again, your aim is perfect, and given the method with which Chun is attempting to return to the ring, he flies right into your blast, crying out in pain as his body convulses. His Kamehameha Wave stops receiving energy from the old man, and Jackie Chun falls from the sky, crashing to the ground below with such force that it creates a small crater.

"JACKIE CHUN HAS FALLEN OUT OF BOUNDS!" you hear the announcer proclaim from behind you.

You can hear the crowd cheer, and as you look down at the ground below, you watch Chun pick himself up, looking up at you with a glare and a frown. However, that frown slowly vanishes, as does the glare. Soon, the old man is smiling up at you.

Dropping from the sky, you approach Jackie Chun, who remains standing where he fell. He says nothing to you, only giving you a nod. But that simple motion tells you all that you need to know.

You're grinning like an idiot, but you can't help it. After all of these years, you've finally done it. You've defeated Jackie Chun, like you've dreamed of since you were a kid. Chun doesn't comment on the expression on your face, and you don't stop grinning. You do, however, offer to help him back to the ring.

Soon, you're flying through the air with an old man on your back, approaching the ring as the crowd cheers for both of you.

"So, think you can teach me that lightning attack of yours sometime?" you ask.

"Perhaps," he answers, saying nothing more.

As you land in the ring, the announcer once more addresses the crowd.

"You saw it here, folks, a rematch between two incredible fighters!" he shouts. "This time, Tofoo has emerged victorious, and in a great show of sportsmanship, has helped his opponent back into the ring! How about another round of applause for these amazing men?"

The crowd erupts into cheers once again, and your eyes scan through it, locking on your wife, who is positively beaming at you, and your son, who looks around at all of the loud people with wide eyes, but smiles when he looks your way.

I'm taking Mutaito very seriously, he's ended all his matches swiftly. I'll be happy if Chaozu gets the win, just the fact that he's keeping up with everyone instead of falling behind. If we do win, when we get interviewed by the press I want to do a shout out to Goku.

I'm assuming that Mutates can /at a minimum/ control his own ki perfectly, exert control over his opponents ki, transfer his ki into others offensively and benignly, and sense ki energy of both his opponent and everything else.

We've already seen him do most of that.

So how do we beat him?

We've already learned how to sense our own ki, so we have a chance.

Waves, blasts, and other ki attacks are bad ideas. He will either redirect or absorb them depending on how good he is.

Likewise kumaken could backfire spectacularly.

So what's left?

Punching.

That's right, we use the only technique that always works: FIST.

And trust that our ki control will keep him from messing us up too badly.

Of course this means we need to figure out how to throw a punch without much ki to manipulate.

Oh boy, I can't wait to see what kind of monster Cell might turn out to be.

Also, Tofoo vs Mutaito is gonna be a squash in Mutaito's favor. Calling it now.

Then let's make up a Ki-Disrupting technique. We have the Solar Flare for sight, so what if we made something for Ki?

Similar to how our electric techniques fuck with the nervous system, forcing raw, rapid pulses of ki into someone's body could scramble their ability to sense or manipulate energy for a short time.

How would we do this? Easy. Apply it through our fists, right before the moment of impact. And plunge a heap of raw, surging Ki into our opponent like a taser with an alternating current.

We could call it the Kesuken; the Stopping Fist.

Imagine disabling Buu and Cell's regeneration, or better yet, knocking someone out of Super Saiyan with a well-placed punch. Let's face it guys, the shitstorm's coming and we'll need whatever edge we can get.

I agree with this guy, regardless of the tournament results, ki control is something we should focus on trying to develop, it has so many applications and honestly just seems so OP & useful against opponents who don't know about it/ out do us, plus is 1 of the main ways we can match the top fighters as the series goes on (RIP us when cell comes)


We could try using our ki to condense or push air to suprise push him out of the ring, or off his feet, energy blasts are too vulnerable to him absorbing/redirecting, and direct attacks leave us open to him disabling our limbs, and using the broken arena as a weapon MIGHT be illegal. I really can't think of any other way without knowing more about what mutaito is doing, we should defiantly go ask jackie chun, get a hint as to what exactly is happening

"Chaozu," you tell her. "Unless Mutaito can deal with those psychic abilities without even moving."

"Fighters, are you ready?" the announcer questions the contestants.

Chaozu and Mutaito nod, but say nothing.

"THEN FIGHT!" the announcer shouts.

Chaozu, focus never leaving Mutaito, slowly lifts off of the ground, climbing higher and higher above the ring. He continues to stare down at his foe, raising his right hand and pointing his index finger into the sky. You can feel energy gathering around Chaozu, and realize that he's charging a Dodonpa.

Mutaito stares up at his foe, unmoving, and waiting for the little man to make an attack. There is no fear on his face, just that same serious expression, and that makes you worry for your friend just a bit. Still, perhaps the old man has finally underestimated an opponent, and Chaozu will wipe the floor with him.

"DODONPA!" the little man shouts, pointing down toward the old warrior, and unleashing a large wave of energy.

Mutaito holds out his right hand, palm facing the oncoming blast, which seems to change direction before it even reaches the warrior. Chaozu's beam of light shoots straight up into the air, vanishing into the sky high above.

Unable to see his face, you can still tell by Chaozu's posture that he's pretty well surprised by this. And, at this point, Mutaito steps forward, holding a hand up and pointing a finger toward Chaozu.

You see a quick flash of white light, and Chaozu begins to fall from the sky, stopping himself just in time from hitting the ground. The little man floats back into the ring, and holds two hands out toward Mutaito. The old man's stern expression vanishes, replaced by a look of pain as he falls to his knees, hands coming to grip his stomach.

"Chaozu seems to be using another of his psychic attacks!" the announcer calls. "Mutaito has fallen to his knees, his unbreakable defense seemingly unable to fight such an attack!"

Mutaito slowly raises his right hand, but Chaozu seems to put more into his psychic attack, and Mutaito's hand quickly goes back to his gut, his back curling upward as he hunches over and cringes in pain.

So he's doing something like combining the Thunder Shock Surprise+Dodon Ray+Ki Pressure point blocking, except he's probably targeting the areas where the ki is leaking. With what Popo told us about leaving an energy trail when we were training at the Lookout.

And so it seems to be the case, with Mutaito backing up across the ring, continuing to hold his stomach as he's forced back by Chaozu's attacks. Finally, he finds himself standing at the edge, with Chaozu slowly advancing.

"I don't get it," Bulma tells you. "He was able to fend off everything Chi-Chi threw at him, but he can't deal with something you and Goku could handle as kids."

"He should be perfectly capable of dealing with this," you tell Bulma. "My guess is that he's just luring Chaozu in, but...."

Your wife looks toward you, raising a brow in curiosity. "But?"

"Mutaito hasn't had a body in three hundred years," you tell her. "He may be a master of energy, but maybe he's forgotten how to deal with damage to his body. He probably never dealt with attacks to his insides when he was last alive, and so far he's been fighting this tournament mostly defensive. An attack like this could be overwhelming to him."

Bulma looks back to the ring, where Mutaito is struggling to keep himself from being pushed out of bounds. You can see sweat dripping down his face, and his body shudders violently in his struggle.

Chaozu steps closer, and Mutai's upper body is forced back, leaving him very close to falling from the ring. As you watch all of this, a frown comes to your face. It seems that this isn't a trap after all, Mutaito is quite close to facing defeat.

While most in the crowd watch in confusion, you spot Chun and Shen down by the contest hall, observing all of this with expressions of surprise.

Finally, it becomes too much, and Mutaito is thrown backwards, flying through the air and slamming against the wall. He falls forward, landing in a crouch outside of the ring.

"MUTAITO HAS BEEN KNOCKED OUT OF BOUNDS!" the announcer shouts. "CHAOZU IS THE WINNER!"

"No way," you mutter as the crowd goes wild for Chaozu.

The little man turns around, seeming just as surprised at his victory as you are. Apparently, even he didn't expect such a quick win, and you find yourself wondering if your assessment of Mutaito's weakness was right on the money.

The old man in question bows toward Chaozu, and makes his way toward the contest hall, followed by a concerned Jackie Chun, and a smirking Master Shen.

"Well, that was a surprise," Bulma remarks. "But, at least that means you should be able to win this battle no-problem."

She leans over and gives you a kiss on the cheek. "Good luck."

You fly from the stands, moving down to the contest hall and landing just outside of the ring. You look up at Chaozu, who turns to face you, looking a bit nervous. But, when you smile and give him a thumbs up for his victory, he seems to relax, and smiles back at you.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I hope you're all ready!" the announcer shouts. "The final battle of the 24th World Martial Arts Tournament will be fought between Chaozu and Tofoo!"

The crowd roars with applause.

"Now, if the fighters wish, they can take a short time to rest before the final battle," the announcer adds.

"Well then, ladies and gentlemen, wait no longer!" the announcer shouts. "The final match is about to begin! Which one of these amazing fighters will become the World Champion of Martial Arts?!"

"Come on, Chaozu!" you hear Yamcha shout.

"Show him what you're made of," Tenshinhan adds.

"Let's go, Tofoo!" you hear Bulma shout.

"Both of you, do your best!" Krillin calls.

"Fighters, are you ready?!" the announcer asks.

You and Chaozu both nod.

Deciding to take the initiative, you charge across the ring, pulling back your right fist for a powerful punch against Chaozu. Your strike passes through nothing, however, and Chaozu fades away into nothing, the real one retreating into the air.

You give chase, attacking furiously with a strong series of punches and kicks, but to your surprise, the little man is able to block or dodge every attack seeming not to even have much difficulty doing so.

You feel yourself growing a bit frustrated, and this causes you to make a mistake, leaving yourself open and giving Chaozu the opportunity to catch you in the jaw with a strong kick. As your head snaps back, Chaozu rushes forward, headbutting you in the hut and causing you to hunch over in pain.

You need to change things up. With a burst of energy, you swiftly move back, gaining some distance and unleashing a barrage of energy blasts.

Chaozu raises his head just in time to see the first blast heading toward him, and yelps as it strikes him in the face, sending him tumbling backwards through the air. He corrects himself, and holds his hands out toward the next round of blasts, firing his own to intercept them. There are several great flashes of light as the blasts hit each other, creating powerful shockwaves and dustclouds through the sky.

The two of you sense one-another's energy signatures, allowing you to track each other despite your obscured vision. As the firefight continues, you notice that Chaozu seems to be firing less blasts toward yours, and has instead taken to evading some of them.

Could he be running out of energy already?

Your question is answered with a resounding "no" as a massive wave of light bursts through the dust-clouds, heading right for you.

"KUMA-KEN!" you roar, feeling your energy shoot through the roof as a green aura surrounds your body.

You thrust your hands forward just as the wave reaches you. Chaozu's attack holds incredible power, and you quickly find yourself being pushed back across the sky under its overwhelming strength. A warmth spreads through your arms, moving to your palms and creating a protective barrier, keeping your skin from being scorched too badly.

With a yell, and an incredible amount of difficulty, you manage to push the attack back, sending it right toward the warrior who unleashed it. You can't see Chaozu's face from your current position, but you do see that the attack hits him, sending the poor little man falling from the sky like a meteor, and crashing into the floor of the ring.

After taking some time to breathe, you move back toward the ring, landing just as the announcer finishes his count.

"TEN! CHAOZU HAS BEEN DEFEATED, THE WINNER OF THE TWENTY-FOURTH WORLD MARTIAL ARTS TOURNAMENT IS TOFOO!"

The crowd goes nuts, strangers cheering loudly, friends rising and applauding wildly, and Bulma pushing through the crowd with Trunks in her arms and jumping down from the stands. She comes running into the ring, and right up to you.
