Last time, on Dragon Ball Tuffle Quest Z! You and Acer managed to preform Fusion, having a brief match with a fused Videl and Pantea before putting your combined minds to work with Bulma in analyzing how 17, 18, and 19’s Ki Absorbers work, then training with Chi-chi to test a theory you had. After that, and with Vegeta being saved from 19 thanks to the combined efforts of Chiaotzu and Nappa, you and Goku end up investigating the abandoned Time Machine together, learning about Cell and discovering his molt, then saving a child from suffering the same fate that befell the rest of Gingertown. And as you bring the molt to Bulma, the battle with 17, 18, and 19 rages on, with Cell definitely aware of it...

You carefully set down the oversized cicada in Bulma’s lab, the purple-haired woman scratching off a small part of it with a scalpel. “Can’t say I have much experience with something like this... but Capsule Corp. does have a few people that have specialized in Entomology. Though I’m not sure how far that’ll take us...”

“It’s better than nothing...” you comment. Okay, so Chuu Lee and Chi-chi... Chi-Lee? Well, they’re taking on 17, 18, and 19, and with a good amount of backup. You sense that Nappa’s gotten Vegeta to safety, so he shouldn’t interfere with a match like that. Hrmn... Raditz is finally on the move, but Goku’s still pretty far away. And Cell... seems he’s hiding his Ki exceptionally well.

What to do?

“More than we thought, and not as much as I’d like to have studied before this mess came up.” Bulma responds, fetching a cup of coffee. “I did get some info on Jaguar though. Billionare eccentric, recently bought up a small island. He’s managed to fly under the radar recently... buuuuut, there have been some archaeological groups spotted looking into odd places.”

His eyes go wide. “WHO TOL-” he quickly covers his mouth.

“You just did.” you state with a giggle. “How long has this been a thing?”

He slumps his shoulders and grunts in frustration. “I’ll tell you after we survive all this.”

“I’ll hold you to that. But first thing’s first, gotta find Trip...” you comment, sensing and looking around. “Once you two get your potential unlocked by her, I think it’s about time you started fusion practice.” You sense Kami, Trip, Gohan, Peppa, and what you assume the trio from Wheelo’s lab inside the castle.

Heading in to a very familiar room, you spot...

“Looks like you won’t be losing any more cards soon, sis!” Gohan declares, setting down a yellow card.

Your daughter grumbles. “That card...”

“It’s a draw two card, little Peppa.” Mr. Popo states. “You must take an additional two into your hand.”

Gohan grins triumphantly... the Bio-man next to him begins to chuckle. “Fool! FOOL! Do not become overconfident! This wager’s stakes HAVE BEEN RAISED!”

“...what?”

“THE STAKES HAVE BEEN RAISED! LOSE A TURN!” he declares, revealing a red card. “SKIP!”

“It... seems to have been a way for them to pass the time.” Trip comments, approaching. “They were starting to get tired. I tried to get them to rest, but their minds are ever so active.”

You take a moment to catch her up to speed, then add... “Say, what about Vegeta? Or Nappa? Could they get their potentials unlocked?”

Trip frowns. “I have made a deal with them. They must overcome their pride, their feelings of vengance, and their intentions for this world if they were to ever ask for such a gift.” She holds her staff. “I know that we have been lenient with them before. But hearts such as those are still dripping with ill intent. Their stubborness, resistance to change, it is not a pleasant path they head down on.”

Before you have much time to discuss her points, another voice calls out. “Hey hey! Kami! And substitute Kami! Prince of Demons here to get rid of my aunt’s nefarious plots!”

You frown. Ah, right. “Feels like it’s been longer. Did he really just go in there himself?”

“From what he discussed with Kami, he felt he needed this.” she answers, walking out with you. “...You recall that both he and Kami were once one being, correct?”

You nod. “Yeah, linked souls, even though King Piccolo is dead and gone.”

“...Kami and Piccolo have had some talk about rejoining.” she adds lowly.

“Wait, seriously?” Goku asks. “They can do that?”

“Piccolo has decided against it. He is going to get stronger on his own. Kami has suggested looking into their people’s past. The scenarios he selected are some to help him grow, as a warrior... and a Namekian.”

“Ahh. I think I get it now...” Man, what would even happen to the Dragon Balls if they combined? ...you get a feeling you won’t like the answer. You get to Beelzebub, greeting him. “Well if it isn’t our favorite Demon Prince. Enjoying your time with the Princess?”

“...Shush it.” he grumbles, tail slapping the ground.

“Okay so, just FYI, I think Towa’s gotten in deeper trouble than either of us realized...” You explain some about the Time Patrol going after Mira, Towa’s latest minions, and the possible connection to Cell showing up...

“If she’s really gotten in trouble with the Time Patrol, then there’s not much I can really do about it.” Beelzebub states. “I mean, aside from root for them and probably get some popcorn. Time Travel’s a crime, even she knows that.”

You and Goku look away nervously, recalling... well, a number of things. Kami getting yelled at, Gohan’s arrival... and yet, you know you wouldn’t be as prepared for what’s going on without their help. Thank the gods one of them is lenient with your timeline.

“Anyway, I’ll be taking that Aquma now.” Beelzebub comments, strolling casually towards the Lookout’s entrance.

A Bio-man keeps talking to it, but it’s been really quiet about it all. Actually... I dunno if it even CAN speak. But seems a little strange. They did seem to know about a Majin...”

Beelzebub stops. “...A Majin?”

You nod. “Yeah, like the one you told us about when you first met us.”

“...Get your kids out of here.” Beelzebub warns.

“What, why?” Goku asks. “They were just playing a game with-”

“Quickly.” Beelzebub warns, going at a full sprint into the Lookout.

Goku turns to you. “I’ll get them to Korin’s. See you after Raditz and I get stronger.”

You want to protest... but figure he’s right. “Take care, monkey boy.”

You teleport away as he flashes a thumb’s up, locking on to Launch’s Ki and showing up next to her. Your first sight of the battle is one that brings a smile to your face.

“STAND STILL!” 17 shouts, trying to grapple Tien with his remaining Ki absorber.

Tien moves skillfully with the Raio-ken, focusing everything on his speed. And then... “ACER, NOW!” Tien orders, grappling 17’s arm, then headbutting him, Chiaotzu giving him a face full of “SOLAR FLARE!”

“MASA! MUNE!” your brother shouts, dashing at 17 with his blade. “GIVE HIM HELL!” The sword strikes 17’s hand pommel first... a loud crackle telling everyone the Ki absorber shattered. Tien releases his arm and the two of them kick him into the dirt.

At the same time, the fused Chuu Lee and Chi-chi faces 19 and 18 both... and is running circles around them. You spot 19 down both her Ki absorbers, and 18 lacking one. The blonde cyborg woman blasts a pair of eye beams at her, 19 doing the same, Chi-Lee moving out of their way right in time, then drawing them in with a swing of her Wind magic-enhanced Bansho-fan.

The typhoon winds almost catch you by surprise, but you hold your ground. As 18 tries to stop herself, Chi-Lee kicks her in the jaw, then grabs her by the back of the hand, bolting to the ground with her. 18 blasts at it to slow her descent, breaking free and flipping back, then moving at full speed at the fused fighter. But Chi-Lee doesn’t try to dodge. She lands and stands still. And then she does something you weren’t quite expecting.

“JAN! KEN! SCISSORS!” She thrusts her hand forth, fingers spread, a powerful gust of wind halting the woman formerly known as Hasky. Her fingers are spread out just far enough that they don’t touch 18‘s Ki absorber. “ROCK!” she shouts next, her Wind magic bringing 18 in closer as she delivers a powerful blow to her face. In the blink of an eye she then flicks a small diamond, the one YOU made, from one hand to the other, and finishes off the combo with “PAPER!” and slamming the diamond into 18‘s Ki absorber.

The three fighters move back, Launch nodding to Tien, Acer giving you a proud smile. You see Krillin, Lapis, and Lazuli behind you, having taken a beating, but still ready to fight. Chi-Lee makes her declaration: “It’s over. The three of you have lost.”

17 lands next to 18, the blonde woman clenching her fists in frustration. 17 then smirks. “...you underestimate us. We still have a few tricks left.”

>B. If it’s fusing, 13 already tried that, and he lost. Give up!

“Not happening!” you declare, telekinetically grabbing 17 and hurling him into the sky. “Whatever you’re planning, it’s not gonna work.”

Chiaotzu follows suit, noticing 19 approaching your group, stopping her in her tracks. “It’s OVER! Even for as strong as you all are, with all of us together, you can’t take us down!”

“THAT’S WHAT YOU THINK!” 18 declares, bolting past you both. Acer tries to telekinetically hold her too... succeeding, but not managing it in time. 18 has Launch in a choke hold, neither of them able to move. But she doesn’t seem terribly upset over that. “Want me to let you all in on a secret?”

Acer moves her back, but as he does it brings Launch along with her. Tien readies himself. “Let her go! NOW!”

“Y’ see... no can do.” Hasky laughs out. “Doc gave us all a little something extra, just in case something like this happened. It’s nothing much... just a little something to ensure we carry out our missions... or die trying.”

You breathe out “Samma Ditthi...” and realize, to your horror, exactly what she means. “You... you wouldn’t!”

“You two will let 17 and 19 go... or Launch and I end up taking a one-way trip to hell!”

But a third beam fires and hits the bottle. Chiaotzu quickly struggles to regain a telekinetic grip on 19, the pale girl’s eyes glowing slightly. 18 starts to laugh. “Oh it won’t be long now. Shame we can’t gather more of your energy before you all kick the bucket.”

The “Devil’s Water” can only be one thing, and you do not like what that implies. And he knows about Tien, too... hrmn... servants...
