> 13!! Ok success!!!
> We. Are the dark!

Your drones melt back into the shadows, inky black carapaces rendering them invisible in the dark. The terrified Col-Sec officers are desperately searching for their missing teammates. Drone #1 watches impassively as the first officer retreats down the tunnel, the beam of his flashlight visibly shaking. He desperately attempts to contact headquarters but the interference is too great. Drone #1 creeps forward slowly as the human leans against a wall and shakily checks his weapon.

He stands straight and attempts to steady his nerves. As he turns a sudden impact in his back drives the breathe from his lungs. As his vision fades he looks down to see a dripping black blade emerging from his chest...

Drone #2 leaps from tree to tree in pursuit of the panicking g Col-sec officer who is dashing through the woods towards their Cruisers. The Drone flexes his claws and leaps, slashing as he leaps. The security officer collapses howling in pain as his shoulder is rent to the bone. The drone happily secures him in resin and begins towing him back toward the hive.

> THE SKITTERLINGS DID IT

One of your drones quickly sets to one of the bodies, rippinh it into tiny pieces and splattering gore everywhere. He takes a moment to leave single scratches on a plate of body armor, imitating the razor spines of the Skitterling warriors.

As he returns home he creates several false trails leading to the water and into the woods. It will be exceedingly difficult for humans to track your drones

> You are Ross

You recline gently as your drones secure the new hosts to the wall. You all had enjoyed a hearty meal of dead human before the first had been implanted. You know you should lay low for a few days...

> Expand Cave (both Drones)
> Request a Reinforcement (a Warrior)
While the Drones stay at the Hive, to either continue expanding or to tend the eggs, the Warrior can hunt for us.

Meanwhile, one of the Builders from the main Hive should begin a tunnel connecting the secondary Hive to the Main. It'll give our Xenos a means of escape, should Col-Sec discover their location. It'll also make it a hell of a lot easier for Bunker to reach the water without risking being spotted by humans on the surface.

>>1164915
Ha! I understood that reference!
>>
> Behind door #1!!!
> Send some muscle

You order your drones to construct a hidden entrance from the river. The industrious Xenomorphs immediately set to carving out a curving tunnel into the roiling waters. The tunnels vertical bends and twists will prevent water from rising while allowing stealthy entrance and exit.

You mentally request a Warrior to support your new hive and Grimalkin dispatches Starscream and a pair of the new Gargoyles to deliver the sturdy creature.

One of Bob's new builders report that they are beginning construction of a tunnel to your new lair. With the expanded workforce they will arrive. Bunker slowly expresses his desire to swim in this lake.

Hive Horror:
A Horror indeed. This Xeno rips apart its foes with unrelenting fury a true terror on the battlefield. Sub-species of the Praetorian.
12ft long. 17ft high.
15 HP
10 AP
+ Terrifying
+ Fearless
+ Active Regeneration
+ Ripping Claws
+ Combat Specialist

- Stubborn
- Glutton
- Hyperactive

Standard Weapons:
Enhanced Blades
Lightning Claws

If you want to add more negative traits or change this Xeno around go ahead. If the first will be a main character then I want its name to be Hastur if that's ok. Or this could be another form for Tiny if Bob could find out on how to mutate him into this beast.

I had a couple that I was working on, but we don't want cast bloat. They'd probably be like Pyro; we see them in action, but there isn't going to be any POV's for them.

> Dino-Croc Xeno - 6 ft tall, 16 ft long, 800 lbs
> 16 Health
> 14 Armor
> Thick Armor
> Bladed Carapace (makes him even more dangerous in the water)
> Fast Swimmer
> Extremely Strong
> Terrifying
> Ambush Hunter
> Patient
> Natural Camouflage (+2 to stealth in the water)
> Crushing Jaws
> Hates the Cold (-2 to all rolls in winter conditions)
> Glutton (requires plenty of meat)
> Blood Rage (if wounded, must roll against entering a rage and killing indiscriminately)

> Killer Moth/Venimoth/Mothman Xeno - 4 ft tall, 10 ft long, 15 ft wingspan, 60 lbs
> 10 Health
> 6 Armor
> Psychic Hunter (can detect the thoughts and emotions of humans)
> Psychological Warfare
> Skilled Ventriloquist (+1 to Psychological Warfare)
> Resin Spray
> Immune to Poison
> Needle-Tail (the tail ends in a long, sharp and hollow barb laced with toxins both lethal and non-lethal depending on need)
> Stealth Flyer (the edges of its wings are frayed, muffling flight, +2 to stealth rolls in the air)
> Light Sensitive (dislikes sunlight, -1 to rolls during the day)
> Multi-Limbed
> Excellent Climber
> Cautious
> Coward (flees combat)
> Fragile (physically weak)
> Blood Hound (+2 to tracking by scent)
> Scent Lure (a special gland that produces an irresistible aroma, attracting animals and humans alike)
> Paralyzing Quills (body is covered in small sharp spines and quills that can be launched in a spray)
> Acid Jet (weapon of last resort)
> Mist Projectors (a specialized organ in its abdomen, connected to tubes lining its belly, discharges a mist of paralyzing or sleep-inducing spores)

This makes mine look like a fucking retard made it...
>>
>>1166432
Not really. There's a couple of weird details that would need to be fixed, however.

The Praetorians are supposed to be the Royal Guards, obviously, but when they're out on the battlefield they act like squad leaders and obviously as heavy melee fighters. They stats you have for that do fit with a big front-line monster, but it doesn't really say anything to me about fear or horror. It's a bigger, slightly less dangerous Tiny.

For a Horror, I'd go with something like this;
> Horror (Heavy Warrior mutation - Unique Strain)
Bipedal, 12 ft tall, 16 ft long, 900 lbs.
16 HP
14 AP
+ Terrifying
+ Thick Skinned
+ Heavy Armor Plating
+ Ripping Claws
+ Spiked Tail: The Horrors tail-blade has been replaced by a nest of spikes similar to those found on ancient Stegosaurus of Earth. Armor piercing.
+ Psychic Warrior: The Horror is adapted for both melee combat and psychic warfare. While not specialized in either, it makes a potent support unit.
+ Telekinetic Blast: Similar in feeling and effect to a shotgun round, the Horror can fire these blasts to support its comrades or deal with targets currently outside of claw range.
+ Aura of Dread/Fear: Humans do not need to see the Horror in order to be effected by its aura. All enemies within a hundred foot radius take -2 to morale and initiative.
> Face of Mortal Terror: Projecting all of its psychic power into a focused cone, the Horror can overwhelm those humans caught inside with terrible visions of pain and death, their very worst fears come to life (Stunning/Paralyzing attack with a chance of Death).
+ Nerve Lashes: Several meter long tentacles, arcing and crackling with psionic energy, sprout from the Horrors back, capable of moving and fighting independently (bonus to Psychic rolls and Combat rolls).
- Bulky and Slow
- Reckless
- Stubborn
Weapons: Lightning Claws, Spike Launcher (Anti-Armor Rounds), Spore Grenades (Paralysis)
>>
>>1166567
So, basically, it'd be a big, armored monster with gaze-attacks and other assorted nastiness. Lots of hexes and curses/poisons softening the enemy up for the rest of the swarm.

Col-Sec is gun have a bad time.

> Expand Cave

Your drones leap to obey your orders, their claws cleaving away chunks of the soft stone. Rapidly the chamber begins to enlarge, a small room off to the side for food storage and a slightly larger room for implanting and storing hosts. You hiss in pride as they finish their work. Your warrior emerges from the hidden entrance carrying a slaughtered deer. He seems a quite adept hunter. Grimalkin enters your mind and assures you a tunnel to your splinter hive will be completed shortly.

You droop slowly onto your bed of resin and drift to sleep. Its been an exhausting day...

Four days until the Marines get here, huh? That just means we'll have to lay low, keep our excursions stealthy and nocturnal. If we can get Bunker into the river, he can scout the waterways and keep an eye on the Lakeside colony.

Horus, once the Labyrinth is completed, can begin training any psychic xenos we want to train, or move out on stealth missions with Tiny and Twitch.

I still want us to burn down the smuggler outpost and bury the mining camp under a landslide. Don't want to leave any evidence.

By the way, has there been anything worth looting from the human camps? Materials we could use to upgrade our Xenos, weapons or the Hive?
>>

I think we should start building some outposts in select hills or whatever we can get our claws in. Each outpost will have a small garrison of Drones, Warriors, and a brood of 3 Wendigo's
>>
>>1167971
You have found several mineral deposits and caches of food. You can choose to research anything we find however
>>
> Lets get Twitchy

You Scurry along the ceiling of a tunnel, headed toward one of the surface tunnels Starscream uses. You flick your tail down and lightly smack a drone as it hauls a load of squirming grubs. The exasperated drone flicks up a grub and you greedily snatch it from the air.

You continue along the tunnel until you reach the fresh night air and take in the stars. Strange... one of them seems to be slowly moving closer. Hmm...

I'm thinking processed metals and materials that aren't natural. Maybe some of the human weapons, if they have anything unusual. Then there's possibly medicine, or foodstuffs that can be added to our little Fungus Garden.
>>
> LETS BREAK STUFF

you quickly summon Ox with a thought. The lumbering Xenomorph quickly (for him) walks up and you leap onto his broad back. You both head into the tunnel leading toward the smuggler outpost. After a long trudge through the slightly cramped tunnel you reemerge into the cool night air overlooking the devastated outpost. A small burst of activity near the landing pads catches your eye and you notice a small ship that most definitely wasnt there last time!

Sounds like a plan, but maybe postpone it until the Marines have left the planet. As awesome as our elites, heavies, and special characters are, I don't think they'd be enough to overwhelm the Marines in a timely fashion.

As for /where/ we build these outposts, I was thinking;
> Red Falls Outpost: Where our single Wendigo is currently based. It'll also be the home of most of our aquatic Xenos until we find the ocean.
> Green Expanse Outpost: Where our shepherds and the heavies can have room to roam. Maybe also has a Fungus Garden.
> White Peaks Outpost: Our Gargoyles can roost here, and our Drones can use the abandoned mining shaft to search for minerals and metals useful to the Hive.

> 15!! GOOD SUCCESS!!!
> MORE THAN 6 FEET UNDER BITCH

Ox shifts his weight hungrily as you watch the group of humans investigating the site of the assault. As he moves a small wave of rocks shifts and cascades down the mountainside. You pause a flash of inspiration hits you.

You urge Ox higher up the mountain and search for the perfect spot. At last you find a group of large boulders perched precariously in a large field of gravel and small pebbles. Ox sets his monstrous strength to use and heaves, muscles and tendoms popping. You help as well! Pushing from his ankles you surely do the bulk of the work as the pile of boulders shifts and begins to tip.

The fall, like most unstoppable disasters, begins slowly. The boulders tip and begin to roll, setting in motion a rapidlg accellerating wave of stone and soil that roars down the mountainside. The last thing the smugglers see is a avalanche of earth before theyre buried under thousands of tons of stone.

>>

>>
I've been thinking about how we'll handle space and potential combat/movement in a vacuum. Our ranged weapons are already pretty well-designed, and should fare well in zero gravity, but we'll need something to augment our xenos. Maybe a pack of pressurized gas like astronauts wear, that we can use for short bursts of speed.
>>
> Mine De-Crafting

You urge Ox back into the tunnel, the gigantic Xenomorph miffed that he hadnt gotten to eat anything screaming in a few hours. You pop out of the other side of the mountain and set off for the mining camp. You must eliminate any trace of your activities. Ox clambers up the mountainside directly above the mining camp and solidly smacks the ground with his tail. A crack extends along the mountain side. You chitter excitedly as he strikes the rock face again and again. With the squeal of grinding stone the entire rock face slides free and freefalls down the mountain, shattering as it goes. Hundreds of boulders crush the flimsy structures of the mining camp to scrap metal.

On a whim you send a gargoyle to investigate the large ranch you had been... spotted at. Your leg twinges as you think back on the incident. The Gargoyle reports that the Ranch is abandoned and falling into ruin but there are traces of human presence. Somebody has been here recently..

> Isolated ranches are on High alert and may have Col-Sec presence

That was actually going to be one of my suggestions. The Bioship is intended to be a flying hive. Literally. It will require hefty support but it will be capable of defending itself. Spine cannons the size of buildings, Barbed harpoons that can tow ships in to devour. Neat shit.

>>
>>1169157
The Skitterling Hive that attracted the Marines attention is probably a short ways past the Lakeside colony.

Once they've burned them out, they'll likely do a sweep of the planet in search of other Hives. With the entrances to our own Hive being disguised as terrain and secured against breaches (barring some serious high explosives), we should be good.

But after they do their business, they'll probably be leaving a garrison in one of the colonies in case of another Hive being discovered, and that will just make the planned raids more difficult.

Pic related could be that Pylon we were talking about.

Also, some possible research upgrades:
> Pyroclastic Ammunition: Replaces the volatile chemicals and intense open flames of the Flame Caster with a dense, destructive mass of very hot ash, jagged obsidian fragments, and poisonous gases.
Basically for providing thick cover that the humans can't see through and hurts their eyes and lungs.

> Thermal Shielding: The thick carapace of the Xenos hide their heat signatures, making them invisible to thermal scanners.
Makes our boys and girls (we don't actually have any female characters besides Grimalkin do we?) even more stealthy. Fuck you Predators!

I'd post more, but its past my usual bedtime.

All Xenomorphs are generally female, although only the queen is capable of reproduction.
>>
>>1169592
Oh I know that. The Xenomorphs operate like bees or ants. What I meant was, all of the named characters and the regular Xenos have been portrayed as males. The only definite female in the Hive seems to be Grimalkin.

Yeah, I know that, officially, all Xenomorphs besides the queen are genderless or female. I just find it easier to imagine the warriors and named PC's as "Sons of the Hive" when in reality they are genderless

We should have our other boys working as well. We don't have to switch perspectives, but there's more to be done.

Have Tiny, Twitch, and Starscream hunt, or scope out some more ranches.

>>1176619
Do you mean a staff?

I was actually going to suggest that, once he grows strong enough and molts, he might have a long whip-tail that he can channel his psychic energy through. He should also have a full bodyguard of Soldiers carrying the same armament as those we sent into the Skitterling tunnels, with Quill Launchers and Lightning Claws.
>>
> Search for hosts

You flick your tail and move quickly into the depths of the lake. The crystal clear waters allow light to permeate even hundreds of feet down.

Your warrior arcs through the water near you as you sense movement ahead. Its slow, and nearly a quarter of your size. As you come closer the creature comes into view.

A large, fat, eyeless mammalian, it holds itself steady in the water with several small flippers and a large tail as it grazes on kelp and algea with several dozen others of its kind. One drifts closer to you curiously and in a flash you grip it by the tail with your jaws and make for the splinter hive. This creature will produce a fine aquatic xenomorph

> Lake Paddler discovered! These manatee like creatures are highly docile, numerois and fast growing. A good source of food and aquatic adapted hosts.

> What do? Lake paddler has been dropped off at the splinter hive and will be implanted

Oh, sea cows? That sounds good. But we'll have to make sure not to over-hunt the population.

As for our next objective, I'm thinking either this; >>1176463

And dice, just in case.

ALIEN sea cows
>>
>>1176810
Seconded.

Also maybe we could make our Wendigo's minor class psykers so they can defend themselves better
>>
>>1176829
Probably Telekinesis, Psychic Shields, and Hypnosis.

Stuff they can use to defend themselves, but nothing like what a full blown Psychic does, and not even a pale imitation of the reality shattering fuckery Horus is/will be capable of.
>>
>>1176897
Well of course can't have an overpowered mini-queen
>>
>>1176829
>Also maybe we could make our Wendigo's minor class psykers so they can defend themselves better
I dont know if that fits the reproduction theme of the Wendigo. Perhaps we can have him produce spittable larvae, that rapidly burrow into enemies, causing excruciating pain and hatching into snake/lizard like Xenomorphs corresponding to runners/drones but with bonuses to grappling, weaker arms/legs and beeing cold blooded (bad when cold, good when hot).
>>
>>1178815
one of them is a megalomaniac without arms and is called Abaddon
>>
> 15!! GOOD SUCCESS!!
> ALL YOUR SEWER ARE BELONG TO US.

With the Lake paddler secured and implanted you set off again toward the Lakeside colony. The taste of sewage and waste in the water leads you to believe there is a possible entrance into the colony sewers.

As you approach you detect small pieces of trash floating in the water along with.... Yeeuuuckkk. Human waste.

You rapidly approach the source of the outflow and find a large grated opening projecting from the underside of the concrete pier. You think quickly and tear into the stone nearby. The loose stones tumble away as you rapidlg carve a tunnel that angles into the sewer outflow. Grimalkins presence enters your mind and congratulates you on your success!!

Ooooh, lucky seven trips! We must have hit the jackpot here.
> Return to the lake. Continue exploring.

Hopefully, we can find our way to the ocean. There's bound to be plenty of very tasty critters and potent hosts. Plus, we can build a third Hive in a hidden grotto, only accessible through the water.

Again, dice just in case.
>>
> other (Write in)
Start catching fish. I feel if we capture someone then the Marines will be all like, oh a Skitterling attack went down here and WHAT'S THIS MISSING PEOPLE OH-HO-HO-HO, then they find Ross and kill them. Also we need more food for the winter months are I am guessing fish are a'plenty

>>1179807

Search for river outlets that could provide clandestine paths to other areas.
>>
>>1179814
We do have our herd of cows, but they'll probably need to migrate south to warmer fields and pastures.

As for the Wendigo's Hive (I don't really like the name Ross, don't ask me why), it should be secure. The original entrance is sealed up, and instead our xenos enter from the water. The newer entrance tunnel looks like pic.
>>
>>1179907
I picked the name Ross for the reasons that, it's my last name, I think it's a cool name, also we have a Xeno named fucking Bob so. Also Bob Ross

Furthermore. Yeah we have the herd of Cows, but we need more food in general
>>
Also Xeno, you know what's funny? I was gunna start a Tyranid Quest similar to what this would be, but I caught up in the glory that is this quest.
>>
>>1180110
The problem with a 40k Quest is that its a big galaxy with lots of little cogs and wheels, and the fans can be pretty fucking vitriolic. I mean, just look at /tg/. There's ALWAYS Warhammer threads going on, and people arguing about the same stale old bullshit.

If you were to do a Nid Quest, you might have to wipe build your own timeline, because the 'canon' timeline and events are so wonky and a hundred different things are happening in a hundred different places all at the same time.
>>
>>1179941
I wonder if there are more critters and beasties native to the underground? Giant worms, perhaps? If we can herd some of them together, and greatly expand our Fungus Garden, we'd have yet another source of meat and hosts.
>>
>>1180194
I was gunna have it be a Hive Tyrant building his own base while gathering biomass and other nids via spawning pools and shit. And it would be on a Paradise world

>>1180200
I mean we also have the Skitterlings
>>
I would to queue some psychic abilitys for Ross.

>Hypnotism
>Levitation

>>
>>1174023
>>1173634
Hey, just to let Xeno and Star know, this is still misarchived. The guy running the archive is Lord Licorice, and if you shoot him an email he can fix it right up.

Just want to make sure neither thread gets lost.
>>
>>1180687
Pall of Insanity is one of the Hexes, and there's four of those available. So, rather than just the Pall, it'd be;
> Hypnotism
> Levitation
> Hexes

Though in the Wendigo's case, I would suggest the Psychic Shield instead.

Also, I was wondering if, rather than a list of abilities, there could be several different schools or skill trees with different focuses.

> UNDA DA SEA

You begin to circumvent the lake, mapping its coastlines and possible inlets and outlets. You find multiple underwater caves and small harbors. Several small rivers and streams feed into the lake and bring an abundance of fish and other water life. You idly snap up a large, soft bodied eel and savor its juicy flesh. This lake is a bounty for your kind.

A faint current catches your notice, water flowing OUT instead of IN. This needs investigation. You paddle into the current and follow it down a wide, deep, slow moving river. The river carries your bulk for miles as you drift just underneath the surface.

The taste of the water slowly changes. The salinity increases as does the presence of fish and kelp. You have found the ocean!!!

You recline comfortably on Ox's broad back, throwing back handfuls of fat, squirming grubs as Ox devours a literal mountain of dead skitterling warriors. Life is good. One of the pudgy grubs attempts to squirm for freedom but the needle thin tip of your tail skewers it and you enjoy it Kabob style. Grimalkins presence enters your mind and urges you to get to work after your meal. You decide to...

>>
>>1189648
This is what I'm fucking talking about. We're almost ready.

Once the Labyrinth is complete, Bob can get to work on some personal projects (like the human enslavement/ascension ideas) while Horus can practice his psychic skills or maybe gorge & molt.

Should also send a few more drones Ross's way, with enough fungus pods to start a new garden at the second Hive.

Also, what was your plan for the molted/evolved Gargoyles? Are they going to be bombers, aerial fighters, carriers and transports, flying stealth killers, or a mix of all of the above?

The 2nd stage of the gargoyle is intended to be a medium interceptor/close air support unit with the 3rd stage being specialized for bombing/Carrier/interceptor/etc

> Take 5 shadows

You chitter in greeting as a small pack of runners... runs by. They happily chitter and burble their respect and make to continue on. You invite them to gorgw themselves on the mountains of skitterling corpses. The energetic xenos leap at the chance and tear into the meal with gusto...

> Hours pass

5 inky black, spiked carapaces pull themselves from their cocoons as Ox belches loud enough to shake the chamber. You growl protectively as one of the still-damp Shadows makes to actually crawl onto Ox's back!!! The Shadow guiltily slinks back and takes their place in the pack as your faithful steed begins his long trek to the swamp.
