Across the darkness of the cold void there were minute flashes of light and spikes of faint radiation but as sensors turned in their direction there was nothing to be seen. Hidden behind a cloak of warped light and masked radiation the Eyegores drift through new systems, shedding their drones throughout.

The protective shield slides back and the cluster of pulsating eyes and twitching sensor organs drinks in the sight of the N'Biic system, its star a brilliant orange giant. Only lightminutes away it can see Osjiic ships flocking around a gas giant and the space-city in orbit. Fleets of repair craft swarm damaged warships docked with the station, recognizing some as escapees of B'Nan.

The N'Tiin system bathed in the light of an blue giant, the Eyegore nearly detected by a passing patrol of Osjiic fighters. A fleet of warships sat in orbit over an oceanic world and the orbital platform connected to its equator by a space elevator. Initial scans and intercepted transmissions show that the system is entering a security lockdown. The Eyegore carefully puts some distance between itself and the fleets while continuing its scans.

An unnamed red giant greeted the Eyegore sent to investigate a gravity well detected on sensors. The system appeared uninhabited, only a few planets circling the ancient star and the satellite Reconstructed sends itself toward the binary worlds that seemed to glow on their dark sides.

The twin stars of Worllunan were mentioned in the Daggers databases, a small independent colony that was originally Confederate sponsored. Despite this data the system appeared unoccupied and the Eyegore sends its drones out to search and investigate.

From the moment the Eyegore emerged deep in the nebula wall within the Refuge system it was bombarded by a cacophony of transmissions bounding off the surprising amount of populated worlds and moons. The flashes of rupturing ships flashed in the cosmic distance, signalling disasters minutes old as the light traveled. Refuge was in the midst of a system-wide evacuations as the living fled toward the inner worlds.

Chaos and war raged across the Curou sector in scattered pockets while others show an almost serene peace without the interference of the living or undead.

Completed Research:
>Arc-Armor: A technologically advanced suit of exoarmor that was the rival of the Cauldrons most powerful designs. Powered by a device similar to the Arc Condenser showing the Ahkam have been active in their experimentation into energy manipulation.

>Elemental Cores: The study into miniaturization of Elemental Reactors has rapidly marched through development after several recent advancements and acquisitions.

>Osjiic Warbeast: A thorough dissection and genetic examination of this large and primally powerful creature has revealed several intriguing developments. Among these is the fact this Warbeast is a close but non-sentient genetic relative to the Osjiic, originating from their homeworld. It's ability to use the Void has been attributed to a simple but very powerful Void core.

>Sub-Space Experiments: Event unlocked
A recent experiment into Sub-space using a modified Warp Drive has had unexpected results. A frigate, much like the one the wayward Disciple used in the fateful Combi-drive accident, was outfitted and entered Sub-Space with its modified drive with the intent of studying the effects of Warp travel. Contact with the ship was cut immediate and several hours later the ship appeared again in the orbital path of the scorched world drifting towards the sun.

Or rather, most of it appeared. The back half of the ship including the engines reappeared through a distorted rift and nearby ships attempted to catch the drifting wreckage with their tractor beams without success. Scans showed conflicting information in regards to its density and solidity, the Think Tanks in charge comparing it to the effect the Wraiths were under. Boarding Coffins sent to board the craft for answers they found the ships hull to be unpredictable, their claws reaching out and either hitting solid hull or merging crudely as matter slides through out of phase matter then locks up. Forced to detach by leaving behind portions of their landing gear the Think Tanks watch and record intently, ships keeps pace with scanners and sensors.

Alarmingly the rift that the wreckage emerged from has lingered rather than dissipate like normal Warp Drive portals. Appearing as a negative tear in space it appears as a warped two-dimensional rip that while imposing is slowly sealing itself up. Think Tanks send a multitude of ships to the site of this anomaly and begin their intense study of it.

Unlocked:
Arc Armor: A suit of armor for Arc manipulators that focuses and enhances the Arc energies of the wearer and provides several adaptations. The suit acts as an Advanced Jump-pack and Medium Exosuit, helping living non-Arc users to be able to utilize an Arc Condenser and it's abilities while providing a small resistance against Necrotic energy.

Necrotic Core: Roughly half a foot wide this highly complex device collects and condenses ambient Necrotic energy to enhance necrotic powered weaponry and devices while allowing the use of abilities to a lesser extent that natural wielders can. Placed in the chest of a Reconstructed unit or secured to a protective pack in an exosuit. Its creation requires a natural Necrotic user or attuned Cauldron to ignite the spark within the core before it is self-sustaining. Cost: 30B 15M

Solar Heart: Roughly half a foot wide this highly complex device collects and condenses ambient Solar energy allowing the use of solar powered weaponry, devices, and abilities to a lesser extent that natural wielders can. Placed in the chest of a Reconstructed unit or secured to a protective pack in an exosuit. Its creation requires a natural Solar user or attuned Cauldron to ignite the spark within the core before it is self-sustaining. Cost: 30B 15M

Osjiic Warbeast (Kzatniic): Standing nearly six meters tall megafauna is a close genetic relative to the Osjiic, originating on their homeworld but lacking their intelligence. Evolved on a high gravity world they are normally a shorter and stockier size but after migrating to worlds with more forgiving gravities they have increased in size over the millennia. An opportunistic omnivore it could eat nearly anything organic and does not seem to care if the meat it eats is rotting carrion or struggling and screaming. Highly territorial and aggressive they lived in mated pairs, driving away rival families while proving to be a bane in the side of the primitive Osjiic. It was a mark of pride and honor for an Osjiic warrior to kill one by themselves and eventually the growing civilization started attempting to tame them for use in manual labor and war between factions. The Warbeast Riders, Osjiic capable of taming and mastering a Warbeast, are the stuff of legend among the Osjiic, several of them claiming the throne of Emperor or Empress.

>The Osjiic Warbeast can now be cloned but only the genetics of the original female have been cataloged.

While we're waiting for everyone else to get here, why do you not want to research this now? It's like the cornerstone of the Armada's power, if you're that sure it's researching it will explode spectacularly we just need to find a disposable asteroid or something way the hell away from anything else to test it.

You were in the Bastion system standing on the surface of an asteroid that was too small for the mining fleets to bother with. Alone on the drifting stone, a Coffin waited some distance away on a larger asteroid. Asteroids floated in the cosmic distance, distant specks illuminated by the yellow giant star, while rubble the size of sub-capitols from the mining ships operations had been towed into place.

Kyn'tk was gripped in your hand, the constantly shifting metal of fractal edges and blades crackling with Necrotic energy as you focused. Hefting the spear with necrotic energy arcing off the weapon in sickly green bolts you launch it. Moments later an eruption of necrotic energy engulfs one of the broken asteroid chunks, shattering it. You hold you hand out and a moment later Kyn'tk reappears in your palm. Nodding in satisfaction you praise the semi-sentient tool and charge it for another strike. Necrotic explosions ripple in the darkness of the void, reducing asteroid pieces to pebbles and charred glass.

Instead of flinging the spear it reshapes itself, forming a circle of floating, writhing metal before you. You focus and hold a hand out to the ring and Voidlight ripples along your arm, spreading to ignite in Voidflame along Kyn'tk. The light within the ring changes and the image zooms in intently on one of the larger capitol sized asteroids in the cosmic distance. With fingers out stretched you see a small sphere of twisting void light appear on the surface of the asteroid. As you slowly close your fingers the sphere grows rapidly and nearby asteroids begin to drift towards it before detonating into a powerful explosion when you clench your hand into a fist. The explosion of void energy leaves a large crater in the asteroid, nearly breaking it in two even as nearby asteroids and rubble continue with their momentum to the momentary gravity well.

Kyn'tk keeps the circular shape as the voidflames fade away. You take a moment to focus yourself and extend your hand once more, but this time it erupts in Solar flames scorching your armor. The flames spread to Kyn'tk and the weapon whines at the energy but you coax it into silence. Gritting your teeth you focus on the Flames and the energy they represented. There was a flicker of flame in the distance where the ring of metal focused on another asteroid but it faded. Hooking your fingers into claws you twist as if tearing at a foe and a sudden ball of solar flame erupts into a violent explosion that shatters the asteroid and sends shards rocketing into the cosmic distance.

Letting the flames fade from your arm and Kyn'tk, the weapon eagerly returning to its standard form. The armor of your arm was scorched as normal but with every day you acclimated to the Solar energy burning at your core. In time you suspect you would no longer be harmed by your own summoned flames if you were cautious but you know in your depths that you would always be at risk of immolation from your own power.

Like I say, if you're worried about one experiment blowing up the other we can just set them up very far apart. They don't even have to take place in the same systems even. Given how long these experiments take to finish it makes sense to run them both at the same time, because they're both going to take several threads to finish.
>>
>>1153134
The issue is they could both trigger something REALLY bad that could cripple our ability to respond to the other.

As you returned back to Horizon's Drop as the sun rose over Iti'a'Ropku you were alerted by several sources requiring your attention.

The rift was an intriguing conundrum and you tell the Think Tanks to focus their efforts on studying the anomaly. You wondered if this would somehow help with the anti-Wraith efforts but only time would tell.

Think Tanks continue to debate the dangers of elemental experiments and research.

Nekris sends you a message concerning multiple issues. Chief among them was the Ahkam elder, Vle'Karak, who was recovering from his wounds with his battle against the Predator and demanded to speak with you personally, having guessed Nekris served a higher command. The other Ahkam, Dne'tec and Cve'jok, appeared to be able to sense him and were demanding to know who had been captured and grew more agitated until they had to be rendered unconscious.

On better news Nekris reports that the first members of their new order were ready to meet Jadyk as well, the Predators eager to show off the results.

The Warbeast Rider had finally awakened from the coma they had fallen into after the battle with the Predators and was demanding parlay with a commanding officer. The loss of their arm hardly seemed to concern them but they appeared quite distraught over the death of their warbeast.

The Think Tanks wished to progress with their construction of the Wormstar Fingers on Rukor and Bastion but they knew they should wait for you to gain permission from the ructu and the Lavafather before constructing the megastructures.

A small notice stated that Jor wished to speak to you when you had a free moment as well.

There was much to do and tend to. What shall you do first?
>Deal with the Ahkam
>Deal with the Warbeast Rider
>Meet the new Arc wielders
>Contact the Lavafather/Ructu elders for permission
>Speak to Jor

While you pondered you looked over a list of updates funneled your way.

The ship carrying the Harbinger to Yrre-1 sits in orbit, awaiting the all-clear from the Armatocere who were preparing an area to welcome the undead emissary-puppet.

Ruscuv's reanimation continues under the Caretakers guidance of the Think Tanks. A massive Cauldron was constructed around her fossilized form and is being filled with untold amounts of necrotically charged biomass that seems to soak into the stone like a sponge.

Valresko and Sur-Quro departed for the Blackscales cloning facility the day before and were arriving in the Urdir system to begin their work.

The Lavafather continues to send the occasional raiding party of Obsidianborn ships to harass the Rolan system. The Ahkam in the system appear to be growing irate, sending ships after them in reckless maneuvers.

Well the worst that could result from the elemental research is a really, really big explosion, so as long we keep that somewhere safe and several light-years away from the rift experiments, it should be fine.

Besides, it's not like Graves would do have them both go catastrophically wrong at the same time just to mess with us, right?

Rather than descend to Iti'a'Ropku the Coffin carrying you redirects to the moon. Your Throne hovers as you move through the hallways of the Arc Temple and down into it's depths. As you traveled closer to the prisons you could feel the air charged with Arc energy much like how the Void temple was flush with the Voidlight.

Nekris awaited you outside the cell of Vle'Karak and gives a bow as you approached, "Welcome Lord Jadyk. I wish it was merely to introduce you to our living students but this required your attention I believe," he says and motions to the door behind him. You could sense the source of Arc energy behind the heavy door, the serpents power noticeable despite the energy sapping Glutton Spheres.

"I suppose it is time I speak with this so called Terror and Butcher," you say and the door slides open at your approach.

Inside the large room Vle'Karak coiled himself up on the other end, his remaining eye flickering with Arclight as he stares intently at you. The collar of Domination Spikes and glutton spheres was sealed around his throat dug into the scales as he swayed his head from side to side in a predatory motion. His voice hisses out full of resentment and barely constrained anger, "A lich? I should have expected. Tell me, corpse, tell me your name. You know mine and I would know my jailer."

You rise up from your Throne to float before him and he tenses but you fold your legs up so you are sitting in the air before him, "I am Jadyk of the Wormstar. You must know of the legends associated with those names," you say and the serpent says nothing, "I do know you, Vle'Karak, Old Father, Butcher and Terror. The dreams of your subjects are full of fear and worship for you. Your officers held you in higher regard than your niece in this sector," you remark.

Vle'Karak's singular eye did not blink as he looked at you, his scales a dull green and crossed with scars, "Why did your minion not slay me when he had the chance? I could taste the stolen Arc in him, he is an abomination birthed from the Ahkam and turns our bones into his blades. Why did he not slay me and take my power for his own?"

Rather than let you answer he rises up somewhat and looks around the prison that was barely large enough to contain the serpent and definitely not long enough to let him uncoil completely, "Why this prison? I know my kind are imprisoned here as well, I can taste Cve'jok and Dne'tec who we believed to be dead. Why do you hoard us like some zoo?"

What shall you say in response? This would also be the time to question him as the Mental Reading technology has no effect on the Ahkam, their minds psionically fortified.
>>
>>1153415
You can certainly suggest it but those technologies are too different.

A Warp Drive opens a rift to another dimension for speedy travel.

A Storm Gate attunes itself to the Arc "ley-lines" that stretch between systems and rides the lightning.

The experiment for the Void+Skip Drive worked because of how they worked, the Void Drive manipulating gravity wells and the Skip Drive using large gravity wells for their destinations.

Sorry to be a buzzkill

Information, since we have been imprisoned since before the Akham were relevant. To personaly learn from the Akham. Learning directly from an Akham and one as old and as estimed as him is ideal Be polite to the Butcher, even respectfull because compared to his two juniors he has been less of an asshole, except for the comment about Nekris. If he starts being a dick we can just give him a jolt of pain to remind him of his position.
>>
>>1153529
Study, You embody the Arc, and we know little of it. Possibly as a hostage later, or rendered down into undeath. But for now we strive to learn your secrets, and for that you need to be alive, and contained.
>>
>>1153433
Okay so from what we know of the warp drive it functions primarily by opening up a rift in space time, allowing a ship to pass through sub-space to the other end of the rift. The storm gate operates by having an arc wielder envelop multiple ships with focused currents and subsequently teleporting them to a different point space.

I propose we design an orbital gate that uses special purpose sub-space beacons and colossal arc condensers to combine these drives to form semi stable portals to other gates. The sub-space beacons can detect the precise location of the target portal and open up a rift between the two. Then the arc condensers fire and create a constant field of energy like a storm gate that funnels directly through the rift. This portal could stay open long enough for dozens of ships to pass through, allowing efficient and rapid transit between any system with such a gate.

TL;DR our very own stargates, big enough for huge amounts of ship traffic.
>>
>>1153529
For now, to learn from you and the power you wield. I seek to learn of all the elements which pulse through the bones of this galaxy, and your kind will not deny me knowledge of the arc.

You will be quick to learn, Vel'Karak, that all are made to serve in my armada one way or another, and your egomanical kind will be no exception. You call yourselves gods because of the power you can call upon, but I have KNOWN gods very intimately in my time and you are no god any more than I am. So rest assured, you will soon be called upon to serve the Armada in earnest, and if you will not do that willingly in life than I will make you serve in death.
>>
>>1153551
But Graves what if

What if we opened up a sub-space rift between two different points on a ley-line? Basically use some principles of the warp drive to partially automate a storm gate, so we could use it without having to have an arc user on hand?
>>
I like Vel'Karak because while he does seem to be prideful like other Akham, he has earned that through a very long life but is not arrogant. After all, his scars show he has had a few close calls. The other two seem like spoiled children who have yet to earn their pride.
>>
We plan to unite the galaxy where the living may live in peace, these confinement a are part of a test to see if te arkham will be able to exist in the future I am creating.

So far the results are not promising but you seem different to your, upstart kin. As with all who come to the armada it may seem like the end but it is in truth, a new beginning if you can put aside old hatred and learn

You press your fingertips together and clack the index claws for a few moments in thought, "I was defeated and imprisoned in the time before the Ahkam and know only what your subordinates know of your history. To personally learn from an Ahkam of such standing among the Dynasties is an opportunity I relish."

Vle'Karak snarls and bares his many fangs in a flash of anger, "You wish to steal more secrets of the Arc from our flesh!" he accused not wrongly.

Sighing you give a wave of your hand and send a surge of agonizing pain through him from the collar. He gasps in sudden pain and convulses but it was only momentary as Arc energy crackles along his body in great bursts. You stand then and clench a fist, your telekinetic grasp nearly strangling the serpent as the Glutton Spheres of his collar glow with the energy they siphoned off him.

The Terror snarls as they struggle against the pain coursing through their body while more and more Arc energy rolls off him in waves of crackling bolts. Voidflame engulfs your form to protect from stray bolts as the Glutton Spheres in the collar and surrounding the room struggle with the raw amount of energy the old snake was exerting. Finally with a shattering pop three of the spheres on the collar crack and pop into a shower of crystal shards.

With the collar broken the Ahkam seemed to suddenly calm themselves, the charge running along their scales dissipating. You hold them in your grasp for a few minutes, Vle'Karak huffing in relief after the pain.

Slowly they seem to regain their wits and they turn as best they could in your invisible hold to look at you and speak in a voice that was significantly calmer than before, "Do not treat me as some whelp of a hatchling like those other two you have locked up. In my prime I could stand my own against the Matriarchs themselves, count yourself lucky that time has dulled my edge."

"You snakes are so damned prideful," you remark and shake your head, "I have no doubt in your power, great Vle'Karak. I respect it immensely, have no doubt," the serpent shifts and you can sense his disbelief but you continue, "But make no mistake, Vle'Karak, your kind may call themselves gods but I have known true gods and compared to them even your Matriarchs pale in contest.

Every prisoner of my new Necrotic Armada serves me in some way. I grant every prisoner a choice and this is yours. Servitude in life, or servitude through undeath?" you say and release your telekinetic grasp on his throat while Kyn'tk slithers into your physical grasp.

The serpent sways slightly now that he was freed and stares down at you. Finally he coils himself up into a more relaxed position, "We are prideful, yes, but I am wise enough to know when to fight or not. Ask your questions, corpse."

"Very well. Tell me the history and origin of the Ahkam," you ask simply.

They were silent for a time and you begin to suspect they wouldn't answer before he speaks, "Have you heard of the Shapers of Flesh?"

You shake your head, "There have been many that called themselves Shapers, I myself carried that title before I became Lich-Lord under the Wormstar."

His tongue flits out for a moment, faster than most could see, "The Shapers of Flesh were a reclusive race. Ancient and wise. An insectile hive race they had a natural inclination to genetic manipulation. The could weave genes to create and shape life to their whims. They could terraform a dead world into a garden planet in weeks populated by organism wholly unique and created in their laboratories. Their starships were made from the bodies of colossal creatures that could survive the cold and dark of the void.

They were pacifists though. They hid in a distant corner of the galaxy as your Armada raged their campaign of genocide. While they were in hiding they found a planet hidden in a nebula. On this world they discovered the proto-ahkam. Non-sentient serpents hardly longer than an Osjiic was tall, that could naturally manipulate the Arc.

They grew obsessed with this potential and created the first Matriarchs, their grand experiments into understanding the ," he goes silent then and seems to look past you into the distance. Finally he speaks, "As you have likely guessed, the Matriarchs decided they did not want to be in servitude to these Shapers.

As I said, they were pacifists and that was the beginning of the Ahkam Dynasties. Once the secrets of the Storm Gate were learned we spread across the stars and brought death and order to the galaxy," he looks to you then, the eye illuminated with Arclight staring intently, "Count yourself honored, Lich. Few know this history."

"Thank you for sharing. Tell me Vle'Karak, would you ever serve me of your own free will?" You ask while floating before him, meeting his gaze with empty sockets.

He was silent for a long time and then you hear a guttural clicking coming from him, his mouth stretches open as he partially bares his fangs. At first it appears like a threat display but then you realize he was laughing as he speaks, "You are a bold one, Lich. I will give you information but I doubt you would ever be able to convince me even if I had the same immortality you did."

You laugh and Kyn'tk slithers into your armor, "We shall see, my new friend."

The doors slide open a a multitude of Arc attuned Dirges enter with the segments of three new collars. He keeps his gaze on you as the ruined collar was replaced with the three and you depart.

Nekris stood outside, his four arms folds, "How did it go?" he inquires and you return to your Throne.

"Enlightening. Now let's go see these new soldiers you've made for me," you say and motion for him to lead the way.

Nekris guides you to a large chamber in the Arc Temple where Eiton was standing before a group of Necrolytes.

You watch from a distance as he demonstrates the Blur ability, his silhouette flickering and fading erratically in and out of focus. Several of the Legionnaires lift the Arc bolters they held while Eiton backed up and gave the order. They fire the metal rods at the undead but he dodges them, the blur leaving afterimages that they mistakenly aim for.

To the side of the chamber you spot a number of Stingers armed with Voidflensers holding shields scored by arc energy. Slipping your mind into one of the Reconstructed it shudders and steps forward.

"Eiton!" A rough voice calls out from it and the group turns around in surprise and part. Leveling the weapon at the general you shoot a glob of Void energy at the Predator and the crowd gasps but Eiton merely catches it in his palm and absorbs the blast.

He lets out a laugh and turns to you, "Well met, Lord Jadyk," the gathered living turning in startled surprise and kneel before you, "Deflecting Void blasts is tomorrow," he motions to the living knelt before you and you can feel the spark of Arc energy in each of them, a link that seemed to connect them all. This energy was still foreign to you but you were learning more about it the longer you were exposed.

Predator Nekris stands by your side, "They are fresh and weak but their power will grow, Lord Jadyk. In time some may become Predators themselves. There is one issue though," he says and you look at him incredulously.

Eiton speaks up before Nekris could, "What do we call them? You got Necromancers and Voidsingers, what do we call the Arc soldiers?"

You clack your jaw in thought for a moment then nod, "Arise my Necrolytes, arise and embrace your new calling. You are the Butchers of the Armada. The Arc is your weapon and you will use it to maim and ravage the enemies of our great Armada. The Wormstar would be proud of you all."

They stand then, that mix of many races and salute with a fist thumping against their chest, "Hail the Wormstar, to Death and through it to Eternity!" they say as one in a multitude of languages and voices.

The Predator Order has created a new type of soldier for the Necrolyte Legion, the Arc Butchers.

You send a message through the Think Tank left on Rukor to speak with the ructu elders concerning the Wormstar Finger construction. The construct sends out a summons to gather the elders and it waits patiently, dedicating a portion of its processing power to the investigation of the Anomaly.

Sending out another strand of your mind you contact the Lavafather as your return to your Coffin. Lightyears away in the Bastion system the supervolcano the Lavafather was sealed within rumbles faintly.

"Greetings Jadyk, what do I owe the pleasure?" his 'voice' comes through.

You speak with him briefly, sending the details of the benefits of the Wormstar Finger and ask permission to construct one on the moon.

He is silent as he mulls over the request until finally he replies, "Very well. You may construct one. If I may make a request though."

"Of course," you say simply, expecting his question.

"Would you share the details of this megastructure? My Obsidianborn thinkers are excited by the prospects," he asks.

BUT tell him that if he wants to establish any fingers on any worlds held by us beyond this system, or otherwise settle them, we will need a certain percentage of the resultant industrial output, like a tax. We plan on developing every world we rule over to a certain extent and will require some resource income from all of them. We are quite happy to help our allies spread throughout our territory if they desire, but we still need their support for the greater Armada if they do so.

"Of course," you send a datapacket with the research to the Obsidianborn.

There was a pause then the Lavafather replies after a brief conversation with the Obsidianborn thinkers, "Thank you Jadyk. One last request. The thinkers want there to be two of these elevators on Bastion to balance each other out. We are prepared to front the metal costs for both towers if you provide the biomass. Acceptable?"

"Very," you agree and across your space Carrier ships begin loading up with massive amounts of liquid biomass to begin work on the megastructure.

>Lavafather and Armada building 2 Wormstar Fingers + 2 Platforms in orbit

"Lord Jadyk, I would like to make another request of you and the Armada. We are expanding rapidly across Bastion and on the neighboring moon. If, in your exploration of the sector, you gain control of a system with a volcanic planet may we occupy it? We would be willing to help with any invasion or siege needed to claim a system if needed, not to mention helping with a tax of resources," they pause then continue, "World without establish biospheres would be preferable in fact. My thinkers, both Obsidianborn and Stonestar, have theories and plans for terraforming volcanic worlds into one similar to Bastion here."

The Lavafather has made another request for a chance to expand his influence. He requests access to any volcanic world the Armada may gain in the future, preferably worlds that are uninhabited by complex lifeforms.

Perhaps now would be a good time to bring up our relationship with the Armatocere. They're the go to guys when you want to terraform anything, and if the Lavafather has an excess of metal they're most always willing to trade that for biomass.

"I see no reason to deny you this request. Everyone yearns to reach out and expand. It is afterall, how I discovered you and the ructu," you say as your Coffin descends into the atmosphere of Horizon's Drop.

"Thank you, Lord Jadyk. Our terraforming plan relies on volcanic worlds so we can recreate the ideal conditions for the native lifeforms of Bastion. We believe they would be able to adapt quickly to a new world if the conditions are at least similar to home," the Lavafather says through the connection as construction Obsidianborn move to the equator of the moon and begin work on polar ends.

"I will have to formally introduce you to another ally of mine. The Armatocere are a floral faction that specialize in terraforming worlds. I am sure they would be happy to help you out if you were to extend some kind of trade to them," you make a note to mention the Lavafather to Sapling Slrrt the next you spoke to the plant.

"That would be appreciated, Lord Jadyk. Now if you will excuse me, I must return to helping the Obsidianborn and your Think Tanks in the Reforging research," he says before severing the connection after you bid him farewell.

Returned to Horizon's Drop you direct the coffin toward the prison the Warbeast Rider was being held with the other Osjiic prisoners.

You send a message to Jor and his image pops up on a holoscreen, the human bowing their head in greeting, "Hello, Lord Jadyk. I have a bit of information, well trivia I guess, from Captain Vorlam you may find intriguing."

"Go on," you say and lean back in your throne.

"The Captain asked how you felt about fishing and that certainly confused me for a second but I assured her you were a fan," you look at him incredulously and he laughs as he felt the confusion through the link, "Well look at how you caught the Beast?"

With that you nod and shrug, "I suppose your right. But go on, I'm intrigued."

"Anyways, well you know those old stories of the Esat about the creatures that lived in their gas giant?" he pauses but you nod, the stories from when the insect race first began exploring their solar system before contact with the Ahkam, "Well the Pirates have definite proof of them."

An image pops up showing a blurry shape in the clouds of a gas giant. Another shows a sinuous shape traveling at sub-light speeds in the ice-rings of a jovian world. Another image shows the strange bones mounted on another Pirates Clanship. Jor pipes up, "They call them Zaereen. I'd heard rumors of spacebeasts but always thought they were just that, rumors and spacer-tales. Vorlam knows where a pod is migrating. Supposedly they can enter FTL naturally and feed off the atmospheres of the gas giants they visit. They're big, bigger than a corvette or frigate but they haven't seen any bigger than a battlecruiser," he looks at you expectantly.

"Tell her I can't wait. Have some ships prepared. I'll send a Harbinger," you pause, "Unless you wish to go fishing for these beasts," you jest.

"Ha, no I'm good. Got too much to do without going on fishing trips," he says with a grin.

He sobers up somewhat and continues in a more serious voice, "So I was speaking with the Commander last night. I believe it would be in the interest of us all I and the other Necromancers either served or got training from the Legion. I doubt Red-Leaf-Strains will want to enlist but everyone could use some weapons training," he touches his prosthetic arm with a subconscious motion, "I know I would have benefited from it during the Trial."

You nod, tapping your talons together as your perch your fingers, "I had a similar thought recently. Very well. Necromancers shall serve in the Legion just as the Voidsingers and Arc Butchers. So too will Valreskos eventual order. Use your best judgement when assigning who will enter the Legion on a more extended basis. I know there are several that were Necrolytes before becoming full fledged Necromancer so they should adjust easily enough."

Jor nods but he doesn't reply, his gaze looking off in the distance for some time, "Is everything alright, Jor?"

Your voice seeming to startle him out of his reverie and he nods, "Yes," he frowns for a moment and nods again, "I must reveal something Lord Jadyk that I should have sooner."

Motioning for him to continue you sighs and takes a breath, "The Trial I endured, more than my life and Ruscuv's allegiance was at stake. When I was en route to Clour I had a visit. From the Masked," upon the utterance of the word the holoscreen flickers but holds, Jor suddenly turned slightly to the left.

He shakes his head and scowls. From within his robe he pulls out an object and you instantly recognize it. In his grasp he held the petrified skull of the first Talon ever constructed by you and the Wormstar. Millennia ago you had slaughtered a Vorh cultist and warped their body and chitin into the prototype Reconstructed in a vat of the Wormstars blood on ancient Kyn'tk.

Jor looks at you expectantly then says, "My prize, they say. Said it was amusing considering the prize you asked for," he gives a small laugh, "They wouldn't explain what that meant but you know them, not is as it seems," he hides the fossil in his robes once more, "Please say something, Lord Jadyk, I hope I have not displeased you," he says with a deep bow, keeping his head low.

What shall you say to your Necromancer?

Reassure him that we are not upset with him, although we are intrigued that the masked gave him that particular object. Describe the significance of this fossil (actually how the hell did Jadyk instantly recognize it) and ask to keep it for safe keeping.

I wonder if it now has any hidden properties since its original creation.

Reassure Jor he was right in telling you and not to worry, but not to bring the subject of them up without due cause as they dislike being discussed and the only warning we have been show was the star they messed with to destroy an empire. Show him the pictures to get the point across.
>>
>>1155026
"Why would I be upset? You have done nothing wrong, only proving yourself to them. They are enigmatic and crave entertainment. It just means you are worth their attention," you give a laugh and Jor seems to relax, "I'd take it as a compliment if it weren't for how complicated they make things."

Jor nods and runs his new hand across his bald scalp, "No kidding."

"Do you know the importance of that item?" he shakes his head, "It is the skull of the first ever Talon I crafted on my homeworld of Kyn'tk. The Vorh were the first space faring species to reach my system, drawn by the Wormstar after it appeared to make a twin sun. I took a Vorh host when they arrived, a sacrifice by the cultists, leaving the body of a mutated corpse of a native creature behind," you look to the screen and see Jor watching intently.

"With my new body I began to discover new powers with the worship of the Wormstar. I was taught by these cultists and grew in strength, beginning to experiment with Reconstruction using the very body fluids of the Wormstar," you say as you drift in ancient memories nearly forgotten.

"The first Talon was a cultist who willingly volunteered. They walked into the proto-cauldron without fear even as the caustic fluids broke them to their base components. I reconstructed them into the first of the Wormstars soldiers and unlocked the key to its ability to wage war like no other undead had before," pointing a finger at Jor you hardly notice as the Coffin lands near the prison where the Rider was held, "That is an item of great power and significance to the Armada and Wormstar. How did you know to request it as your prize?"

"I know I have said this often but," he sighs and gives a shrug, "I saw it in a dream. Only a few hours before I had my "encounter" with our "friends"," he says with liberal use of air quotes, "I can not recall the dream and the Dreamstone recordings say they couldn't record it during that time. It's not the first time it's happened. Anyways, they asked what I wished for my prize and that image came back to me," he shrugs again, "I really can't explain it Lord Jadyk."

"I doubt you are supposed to," you say and think for a moment, "I want you to keep the item. Use it well and however you see fit, I trust your judgement. But from now on let's not discuss this any further. Our "friends"," you say with your own air quotes, "do not like to be talked about."

The necromancer nods, "So they said."

"One last thing, Jor. I am proud of you, thank you for enduring," you say with a bow of your head.

He smiles and gives a proper bow of his own, "Thank you, Lord Jadyk," before the connection severs

How do folks feel about the Arc Butchers name? It was kinda difficult coming up with an appropriate one
>>
>>1155422
T.B.H it seems kind of gar for troops created by the predators. Something simple like hunters would be too simple.

Maybe Nerves? It kind of ties into the death/biology theme.
>>
>>1155422
>>1155426
What about simply Arc Hunters? It's about as short and to the point as 'Arc Butchers' and ties into the whole hunting/predatory their order has going. Not a whole lot of synonyms for hunter, huh?
>>
>>1155422
Butchers seem kind of...blunt to me, I always envisoned the Preadators as the scalpel to the staff of the necromancers and swords of the voidsingers

Would Ranger fit? Or Pathfinder? Scouts? Seekers?

Woah I finally catch up. I read the archiv all the last two week, I'm totaly hyped. Your quest is awesome !

Well, I'm annoying brat, so a question tickle me since a fair number a thread : do the Osjiic are matrimonial ? Or have low sexual difformism ? We have see a lot of female in high ranked position and you even talk about Empress; so did a female Osjiic is as strong as a male ?
>>
File: Estkri.jpg (95 KB, 1281x709)

95 KB JPG
>>1156328
There is no sexual dimorphism between male or female Osjiic. Just like humans, male and female Osjiic are pretty much the same and can do the same jobs just as effectively. The Osjiic never had sex discrimination to worry about, the Empire needs every soldier it can get.

Most soldiers will donate their genetic samples (their versions of sperm and egg) when they do their yearly check-ups on an Osjiic world for the purpose of growing a new Osjiic. While there are some natural births on relatively peaceful Osjiic worlds almost every soldier is a test-tube baby.

Not as extreme as the Netu where every single member of their race is "born" from medical pods but similar.

Now races like the Yuyut or the Ahkam, there is definitely a lot of dimorphism there with the females being larger and stronger.

btw I someone is around, I suggest we send Nekris along the Dagger for the Space Whale hunt. He will enjoy himself and be prepared for the time we meet Space Moby Dick (I swear if we ever make a special-heroic ship with those whales, we need to make a reference to Moby Dick).

>>
>>1156305
I second this. Some people seemed a bit too cauldron happy in regards to organisms that have valuable insight. Besides we have enough heroes for now so we should focus on growing the orders first.
>>
>>1156530
We should maybe transform The Terror into a hero, he has a great potential. But let the other be for the moment. Maybe make them carry our Throne during a meeting just to see everyone face when whe enter the negotation room using two "Gods" as cattle beast.
>>
>>1156562
I belive you mean the Butcher and he would be of better use in his current state for now. Because of our mental imprinting tech he could still roughly remain as himself, the Wigan would view him as just another reanimated corpse and the impact of having such a legendary Akham as a servant would be forever lost. Also I do not belive we should humiliate the Wigan more then nessesary. If one does some especially stupid shot like kill a hero, he will beg for death within the hour and for the rest of time. But if we send the message that we specifically the Akham in a manner like that it slaves,it will screw with our negative that we welcome all species.
>>
>>1156562
>>1156629
Vle'Karak is both the Butcher and Terror. He's got plenty of names

Also I should point out that the Ahkam serpents are immune to the mental reading technology. They are psionically fortified against mental intrusions
>>
>>1156638
Don't we have those intrusive mind reader things? (completely forget what the tech was called) I can see being resistant to mental scanning, but psionics should only go so far with needles jammed into thier skull.
>>
>>1156295
It's better than the butchers but

come on guys they have to be Raiders

>Raiders of the Lost Ark

Arc Raiders! A whole regiment of Indiana Joneses
>>
>>1156696
But that would kill him.
>>
>>1156629
Well at least using the Snek throne carrier when we need a show of force against the Akham believer. The sight of their gods in chains should make them surrender.
>>
Also a question Graves, how does Energy regenerate?
I was thinking that when our special units are on leave that we siphon as much of their energy as we can without it having adverse effects on them or their combat readiness, to top off what we get from the glutton spheres to add to our own power. Is Jadyk siphoning the glutton spheres that drain our prisoners, I can't remember if they do.

It'll be like a mandatory offering of energy reserves, can we just put tuned down glutton spheres around the barracks?
>>
>>1156638
In other words unless we tech up big time, we cant have Immortal Akham or Hero units that keep more of their memories.
>>
>>1156728
We already have the "Cristal sponge" for that. They recolt the ambiant energy generated by our living subject.
>>
Regarding the sneks, I feel we should keep the butcher alive if we can bring him around to our way of thinking that would be a greater blow to the arkham then if we dumped him in a cauldron, how ever one of the other two we have captures would be fine to recreate. Hell maybe Jaydk should start draining half their life to gain power per the Arc now we have solar under (a little bit of) control
>>

Okay
How about we give big papa snek 10-15 threads to get his shit together and join us
If he doesn't, its off to the cauldron
>>
>>1156791
That's a pretty long time. He don't seems to be cooperative and we just learn that Akham are very resistant to mental intrusion. I would rather save the young one and dump him in the big pot. I don't think we can break him and his death alone should make the Akham shit themselve.
>>
>>1156833
Looking back on it, 10 threads is too much
5-6 threads
Hes not going to join us willingly in a single thread, but it would lower moral of the ahkam

About that, did the other little Snek "feel" Vle'Karak like he does ? I suppose this is linked to the Arc, but he is quite the badass, so I suppose he his league above them.

If not, what about "parading" him in front of them ? If we go in for totaly breaking their will, the sight of their "Old Father" defeated and in chains should make the young one reconsider their pride or at the very least shock them/make the fall into depression.

Even if they feel him, that could be a good plan : feeling him is one thing, but they can put it on a error or being delusional about that. See him in this state on the other hand...
>>
So no one else noticed that Jaydk and the Butcher have a kind of we are both too old for peoples bullshit buddy buddy feel going on?
>>
>>1157276
I noticed and the fact that the Butcher didnt seem like a prick automatically puts him leagues above the other Akham. The fact that we could have a (relaticely)cordial talk shows that, with time, we can bring him to our side. And when we do it will make claiming Akham worlds easier in the long run and give us insight into the minds of the Akham. Next time we talk to him I want to ask him about the Matriarch of this sector and the High Matriarch. I also think it might be a good idea to show him our capitol(with the vital bits censored) just so that he can be amazed at how greatly we exceed the expectations of our foes who think of us as monstrous abominations.

Following the conversation with Jor you depart from your Coffin on your throne and descend into the mines turned prison. Moving through the spiraling labyrinth where thousands of Osjiic soldiers were held, passing through side passages that kept you out of their sight. There was only one prisoner you were here to see and you find yourself before their cell.

The thick sheet of reinforced metal slides away leaving the cell still blocked by a lattice of interlinking bars. A crystal set in the ceiling illuminates revealing the being standing inside. The Warbeast Rider was tall for even the Osjiic, their body possessing a level of cybernetics that was fairly common of Osjiic veterans and commanders.

They gripped at the stump of their arm sealed off with cloned skin as they step toward the bars to look down at you seated on your throne, "Are you the master of the dogs that took me down?" You nod your head and they sneer, "Congratulations undead. Kanda has never fallen to an invasion force while under my command and never have I been defeated while riding my Warbeast."

"Normally this is the point where your kind vow to escape and deliver my bones to your Emperor," you remark and the Osjiic barks out a laugh then grimaces at the wounds he was healing from.

What shall you question the Warbeast Rider about?
>>
>>1157609
It would be nice to know the state of the empire, like how stable it is and the biggest "surprises" they might have in store, like unique to semi-unique ships and units
>>
>>1157609
Other assets of note in the region, how soon a retaliatory fleet will muster, defenses of nearby osjic worlds.
>>
>>1157609
Would you like your arms back?
(Could we regrow them/give him prosthetics)
>>
>>1157609
Ask him what would happen if you took his mask off.
>>
>>1157609
Standered questions"do you know of the necrotic armada,do you know the name jadyk of the worm star, etc."
Also ask about the current state of the empire and what he plans to do from here
>>
>>1157609
Ask about the background of the current Emperor (have we gotten a name for the guy yet) and how established his rule is. I noticed that there were actual dissidents of his rule among the prisoners we rescued.

Be sure to bring up Estkri and see if this guy knows why the present top brass is so hung up on her.

"I do not even know your name, warrior," you say and motion to him expectantly.

The Rider snorts, "Inalt. Not that it matters I suspect."

"And why this suspicion?" you ask and lean forward curiously.

"I know how the undead operate. Once I am of no use alive I will be killed and reanimated," they say matter-of-factly.

Shrugging you wave a hand dismissively, "Anyways," you say, changing the subject, "I have some questions for you Inalt. Have you ever heard of Jadyk of the Wormstar or the Necrotic Armada?"

Scoffing the warrior turns and moves to the sturdy bunk carved into the wall to sit down, "Of course. You're the new threat in the Curou sector right? Some undead who's been a thorn in our sides and the Ahkams. As soon as I heard about you I knew we should've mustered an extermination force before you became a threat," they spit on the ground then back to you, squinting slightly, "Seems I was right. Why Kanda?"

"You seem to forget this is an interrogation. You heard my proclamation, Kanda is now mine as payment for all the grief the Empire has brought this sector. Soon other worlds and systems will follow, along with the Ahkam," You jut a clawed finger at the warrior, "Tell me about the Empire. About your Emperor and why he is so fixated on Estkri."

"What do you want me to say? I can feel you in my head when I sleep. The Empire is trying to reinforce this sector but the UON is pressing a campaign in other sectors that draws away forces. Not to mention the Ahkam forever taking bites at us while the Pirates pillage and ambush," they pause for a few seconds in thought then continue, "I suppose your rise to power must be related but I have noticed a rise in reports of undead outbreaks in the Empires fringe worlds and in the other factions," he muses more to himself.

"A subject I am curious about as well but you tell me nothing I don't know. The Empire wars with everyone they can see, even forces much too strong for them such as the Armatocere and the Sunscale. What I want to know, Inalt, is information on the Emperor and his obsession with Sub-Admiral Estkri," you say while sending a rush of cramping muscles through the Osjiic as encouragement.

Hissing in discomfort they shoot a glare at you, "Grand Admiral Estkri was the favored successor to the throne and was all but decided to ascend the Void Throne but mere days before the final coronation she stepped down and threw her support behind Grand Admiral Vilza. So Grand Admiral Vilza became Emperor Vilza. Now not many people know this about Emperor Vilza even among the Osjiic. He is a Warbeast Rider like myself," he shrugs as you tilt your head slightly, "We didn't train together or anything, raised on different worlds."

"Why would Estkri step down like that?" you inquire.

Again he shrugs, "No one knows. It's the big mystery of the Empire. Once a favorite for a throne now reduced to sub-admiral of a scouting fleet on fringe space. Her fleet stopped at Kanda often."

>cont
>>
>>1157987
"During my conquest of Kanda I've come across some dissenters to the Emperors rule. Estkri sympathizers I would suspect. Tell me about this opposition the Emperor faces among his own people," you say as Kyn'tk starts to slither in and out of your armor, the weapon bored.

Inalt watches the bizarre display for a few seconds then nods, "There was more than just Estkri striving to take the throne. Every Emperor or Empress seated on the Void Throne has had opposition. Normally they get demoted and shuffled around in the aftermath but of course they are too important to kill off. Emperor Vilza doesn't seem to obey these old rules. Many of his rivals he had rounded up and disappeared. Their supporters split up and put into servitude.

Unlike the other Emperors, he somehow has control over the Void Temple. Until him they were a "neutral" faction of the Empire, dedicated to only preserving the Flame and ensuring the survival of the Empire. They now create as many Voidsingers as they can, reducing slaves and criminals into fuel to power our ships," he shakes his head slighlty, "He says he will not die like the last Emperor, defeated by mere plants. That the Empire will dominate the Galaxy and embrace the destiny that was bestowed upon us when Voidlord Ghul died on our homeworld," he looks up then with an almost taunting expression, "Did you know Ghul?" He almost said more but his eyes bulge in surprise as you suddenly wrap your invisible fingers around his throat to silence him.

"Oh Kanda you called my Generals abominations. Ironic you would say that, when your empire thrives off the constant desecration of my brother-in-arms corpse. You yourself utilized the Void with your Kzatniic, an abomination of flesh and stolen Voidflame," you lift the Osjiic into the air and they struggle with their remaining hand at a hand wrapped around their throat they could not find, "I could have taken your whole system in hours if I wished. You do not know the horrors I will unleash on your Empire for Ghul's vengeance," you let them drop and they fall to their knees, panting and retching, "In time you will you help me unleash those horrors," you promise in a cold voice.

Did you have anything else to say to Inalt the Warbeast Rider before you decide his fate?
>>
>>1157993
Welp
Time to fast track this guy to the cauldron
>>
>>1157993
How exactly is Ghul remembered by the Empire?
I believe it as been lightly mentioned, but only by voidsingers. It would be nice to know what our dear friend's "bastard children" think of him.
>>
>>1157993
Ghul was my closest and truest friend in the armada, I counted one as an equal to him before I found it was her treachery that sealed me away and doomed my former master. You wish to taunt me Inalt? See the horrors I can mount while roused to rage and fury. Show him what war was against the living when the old necrotic armada roamed creation.
>>
>>1158095
I like this idea. If we can, use our newly developed psionic abilities to show him the horrors we and Ghul unleashed in our prime.

And then toss him into a cauldron. I wonder if any of our existing orders would want dibs on the result.
>>
>>1158190
I have idea. Try to mix him with our juggernaut dude, so he is a beast rider in death as well. Them can be a double threat like that dual character from the latest mortal Kombat.
>>
> "I know how the undead operate.

But we need the carrot to make them crack, show him visions of our city and explain that while he may know how the undead work, he has nothing to prepare him for how Jaydk operates
>>
>>1157993
"Tell me what you know of Ghul. You seem to know more than most of your kind," you ask while barely containing your annoyance.

The Osjiic lifts himself up and returns to sitting on the edge of his bunk, "You ask the common footsoldier and maybe one will say he was an old god from before we reached the stars. I know he wasn't a god himself despite his powers, I've read the old histories in the Temples. The Black Flame of the Void, one of the Undying Court with the Wormstar. Voidlord Ghul was an Admiral in the old Armada, yes?" he looks at your for confirmation and you nod, "What I read were conflicting reports and tales of Ghul falling at the hands of the first Osjiic to become Voidsinger, a few saying he and his forces dropped in the midst of battle, their spirit gone but their bodies still burning with the Void."

"I suspect that latter tale to be the truth," you say through grit teeth, fist clenched as you continue, "Treachery is as old as time, Inalt. This I am sure of."

Reaching out your hand the Osjiic recoils instinctively even though the bars remained in place between you. He gasps suddenly as you pluck at his soul through the link in the Domination Spike and listen to the resonance.

Pulling back your hand you clack your teeth in thought while Inalt stares at you suspiciously.

Inalt is quite like Estkri, his might coming from his experience and individual power. Like all living things he was vulnerable to the Necrotic, his life consumed and replaced with necrotic energy of the Cauldrons. He would make a fine Punisher or Predator but you suspect he had potential elsewhere.

"Rejoice Inalt. You shall soon be reunited with your pet," you say as your throne lifts itself up. He stands and moves to the bar starting to ask what you meant only to shout as the barrier of thick metal slid back into place.

Underneath Iti'a'Ropku Reconstructed began building a large medical tank as elsewhere in the lab in a smaller medical pod they begin the process of cloning the Warbeast.

As you depart from the prison the Deep Rot sends an alert to you and you send you mind out to gaze through the Eyegore drifting in the Andai system. Station 88 loomed over Clour in the stellar distance, the tomb of Ruscuv hidden down below. The Eyegore focused though on a Confederate Destroyer flanked by a pair of Heavy Cruisers several light-minutes away from the planet and orbital city.

The ships of the picket fleet shift and turn themselves to aim for the intruding ships but hold their fire as they send out a warning across multiple frequencies stating that the ships were intruding on forbidden territory. The Confederate ships don't reply for several lingering moments as Necrotic ships in other systems prepare to move in and reinforce the system while Nails and Gunships deploy from Station 88 in preparation.

Finally they transmit a message to one of the Battleships in the formation aimed at them. Their message requests parlay with the leadership of the faction that laid claim to the system. They repeat the message several times in different languages besides the trade language while holding their position with their weapons systems seemingly offline.

After a quick message of confirmation relayed back to the Confederate ships and they hold their position. The picket fleet blatantly moves in closer, their weapons locked on the ships but they keep a respectable distance several light seconds away.

Nearly two hours later there was a sudden gravity well that began to materialize lightseconds away from the Confederate ships and with a brilliant discharge of light and radiation the Charnel Vault and drops out of FTL in front of them. The massive ship dwarfed the three ships and near its prow a sheet of armored bone slides away and you emerge from within. Even in your increased power you were not keen on riding the hull of a ship in FTL.

You send out a communication line targeted toward the Destroyer and a video connection is established. A human female in a crisp commanders uniform with a form of cybernetic visor hiding her eyes stood on the screen, "Ah, how nice to meet you, Admiral Rotaka. I was curious when you would return. I am Lich-Lord Jadyk of the Wormstar, leader of the New Necrotic Armada and sovereign of this star system. Why has the Confederacy come here? What demands will you make?"

The woman purses her lips, her hands clasped behind her back, "I have been sent to establish a diplomatic line between the Confederacy of Planets and the New Necrotic Armada. We wish to know the intent of the Necrotic Armada and it's plans for the people of the Curou sector. If you wish we may meet on board my ship."

How shall you react to these claims?

"You will join me planetside on Clour. I look forward to meeting you in person Admiral," you say as you transfer the location of the open desert plains outside the borders of the anchor city.

The human gives a curt professional nod, "As do I, Lord Jadyk," she says and the connection is severed.

The Confederate ships keep their weapons locked into neutral position as they accelerate toward the planet. The massive Charnel Vault makes a lumbering turn towards the planet as you stay seated at the prow. You almost suspect you may need to contact the Armatocere considering the events that occurred the last time Admiral Rotaka appeared in the Andai system.

Once in orbit the Confederates send down a handful of dropships to the surface below. You follow shortly after in a Coffin, the hulls of each shuttle glowing with reentry.
>>
>>1158859
And that's it for me tonight. We'll continue the diplomatic talks later today.
>>
I take it you don't play elite dangerous?,

>>1158866
Well I assumed that they didn't know we had a city, but after thinking about it they probably have intel on all of our systems, maybe not that we have a city, but still enough to know every place we own.

TL;DR I would be surprised if they got any new information.
>>
>>1158864
Thanks for running Graves.

Now what happened to our shock troopers? I didn't see them on the list.
>>
>>1158918
They've been upgraded to Arc Trolls with the Arc Condensers.
>>
>>1158864
Thanks for running ! Sleep well Grave.
>>
>>1158921
Could we keep using the old shock trooper template as a seperate unit? They filled a specialized role as literal berzerker shock troopers very well in a way the arc trolls don't. I like the idea of creating trolls with elemental cores but I also like dirt cheep expendable berzerkers with skin made out of knives. They don't need fancy shit like hardlight shields or the ability to fly in any other direction than straight towards the enemy to rip and tear.
>>
>>1158927
Surely. They'd keep the zapper mod which is like an amped up electric eel ability.

I'll stat up more trolls for the other elemental flavors as well
>>
>>1158960
>I'll stat up more trolls for the other elemental flavors as well
Hoo boy. Warfare with the Armada is about to get a whole lot more exciting for our enemies.

And if you're planning on making void trolls, do you think we could give them those shaker shields we pulled off the sunscale? If figure it would suit their powers well, and if their edges oscillate at just the right speed they can be used like crappy void powered chain saws.
>>
I agree whe should keep the shock trooper as some kind of line breaker unit.

While I see the regular Trolls as a heaby infantry unit intend to be very discipline and used with other unit as heavy weapon carrier/shield bearer and bit of muscle to help the more squishy Talon, the bezerker have a totaly different job.

We don't really expect them to suffer minimal loss, they are intend to wreak the line and cause the maximun of havoc. Like we take a Devastator, full of berzerker and make it grind his way behind the ennemy line to release them, probably make them panic. Same with Drop pods.

Ideally they should be the bulk of the first invasion wawe with the talon, the Talon soaking up the fire for the Bezerker to break shit and clear zone for the more valuable/casual unit to come in.
>>
So I'm thinking for our meeting we have a little table with food set up with a parasol for shade and iced drinks just to fuck with their expectations "come sit you must be hungry, I hear the fruit is to die for" grown in our orchards

I think we should also be no nonsense "if your ships targeting systems decides to so much as think about locking Onto anything I will personally destroy it from here, now would you like some tea while you think out how to word your demands, or we can do this the raiser way and you tell me what it is your superiors have tasked you with doing and I will answer honestly or you can waste my time and risk my, displeasure.
>>
>>1159135
Mate you realise they have at best 1 cruiser and 2 other lesser ship and they are facing the Charnel Vault ? She not gonna go try to launch into a dick conquest here, the crew are probably already shitting themselve.

All for one, one for all
All is one and we are all
Even light in the heavens, every atom of existence, even joule of energy.
All is within us
We are the ultimate fuck you to entropy
We are the universe

I just realized, how different would things be if we chose ghul or SHE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED?
I would suspect that the cauldron born army is what made jadyk special compared to the rest of the armada

If that is true, i wonder what special shit did ghul and YOU KNOW WHO would have?
>>
>>1160009
Jadyk would've been the BBEG with his Reconstructed armies

Ghul would've made voidknights, voidsingers, and void-powered zombies/skeletons with a bigger focus on tech

Akka-Tor would've been more vampiric and dealing with incorporeal undead similar to ghosts, banshees, wraiths, etc. The corpses would probably serve as zombies once their spirits were ripped out

There would've been the option to gain limited Cauldron tech to make simpler Reconstructed

I don't know incubus has a strong drug dealer vibe going on, promise the stars and the first taste is free but, is very insecure about his position so puts on the ego as a cover for all that self doubt.

Also should i take 6juggernaught scours the universe as a template for the Harbringer, he even has the crown and lanky limb
>>
>>1160028
Interesting, how did you feel about us picking the BBEG as our MC at the start of this quest? Would the quest have had less focus on empire building like we are now and more on raiding and beating up our rivals?
>>
>>1160109
Oh I had really no idea what the story was going to be when I started off. I just had the idea and the three names.

The point of the quest was to be "the Ancient Evil awoken after millennia sealed away"
>>
>>1160129
Thats one of the things I love about quests like these, such as Hive Queen Quest and Shadow Quest. We start out inlined towards self preservation, but practicality drives us to be more benevolent then our stereotypes. Sure some might complain about diplomacy, but our prime goal is survival and not pissing off everything else in the world by being some omnicidal maniac is conducive for survival. We can still be cruel, but not needlessly so, and we can be kind, just not foolishly so. Just look at how better of we are with our heroes earned in blood and our friendship with the Armatocere, also earned in blood.

Actually we could have decided to be an omnicidal maniac, and with the way Jadyk's tech works we would have more ships, a larger army, kanda would have been conquered in hours instead of weeks. shit like that

Yeah they will always be some guy complaining that "Oh no, not one more diplomatic quest !" that want to Zerg the entire universe. But in the end they are a minority, probably cause the anon are actually human and (most) of them are not sociopath unable to feel empathy.

There is one called left beyond but it's a weird one.
I also had 2 ideas for quest I'd like to see.
One is a quest where we control an alien civ, the aliens are Mgalekgolo like parasites who use bioengineered hosts and mechanical bodies after they had to leave their solar system using a arkship/fleet because of some catastrophe, they look like the Ceph in Crysis.
Another is a zombie gestalt hivemind in a fantasy world, it would start from one experimental undead who proceeds to raise or infect others.

gas the space squids.

>>1160276
But these aren't the void worshiping kind.
Also they're sentient parasites not squids.

>>
>>1160317
Aye, sentient parasites who after escaping a catastrophe that destroyed their home system live a nomadic life in arkship/s and use bioengineered and mechanical bodies for survival. also they Don't have FTL.
The quest would start after reaching their first non-native solar system.
>>

This reminds me we still need to ressurrect GLORIOUS NECROWORMS. Seriously, they would be the best spies and infiltrators ever.
>>

I bet we can get a few cells of one if we put our mask (baced off of us when we where a necro worm) into the head jor got
>>
>>1160215
I have never seen in any work of fiction a sapient life form that is a decomposer (something like the microbes that turn stuff into dirt)
Imagine a civ where you play as a hive mind of microbes
>>
>>1160616
That arguably describes Grave's first quest pretty well, actually.
>>
>>1160631
But I thought it was a hive mind of a virus or something.
I'm talking decomposer microbes, where there food is shit and everything dead. And they shit out high quality dirt.
Somehow they make it to space
Perhaps in large quantities the resulting hivemind (the microbes need to be touching to hivemind) becomes psychic and controlled a race on there world to evolve intelligence, civilization, and eventually space travel so the microbes can get into space and to every planet that has life and eat all the shit in the galaxy

Well, as far as ideas go...
>Fungal Hordes, we play as a newly sentient fungal organism, could go Myconid, could go Cordyceps
>Deep Ones, we survive the depths then challenge the surface before we could space. Or just have a spaceship crash into our abyss and speed up the process, that's cool too.
>Frankenstein Monsters, we liberated ourselves from our masters and stashed some of his research notes. How do we deal with these peasants wielding torches and pitchforks? Or maybe set it in the modern era, how do we carve a nation for the creatively resurrected?
>Secret Organization Quest, basically we play as a WoD Hunter conspiracy, or SCP Foundation knockoffs. Do we protect mankind from the unknown horrors? Do we secure and contain them? Do we act as border patrol for illegal extraterrestrials? Do we go illuminati, or do we forge alliances with the horrors? Do we bureaucratisize everything?
>>
>>1160666
The SCP one sounds nice, by it would be a NOTCH to keep track of everything and keep it relevant.
>>
>>1160687
Just write it down in a txt file or pastebin or something, and then read it again when you need inspiration on the next hook/arc/resolve. Kinda simple.
And we'll be dealing with less containment if we're more like GOC 'burn ALL the witches', or MIB 'Earth border patrol/immigration bureau'.

During the time that the ships moved into orbit and shuttles departed from larger craft several high speed hovercraft had been deployed from the city to the rendezvous location. They hastily set up simple tents and covers made of woven keratin strands and bone supports, dragging furniture off the flatbed transports. Everything was plainly made from Cauldron crafted bone and metal, even the tables and chairs wrought of shaped organic matter.

Your Coffin descended to the ground while being followed a respectable distance away by the Confederate shuttles. Setting down near the meeting spot the dropship kicks up a plume of dust from the dry ground but a hot steady wind quickly clears the air once the engines were turned off. Emerging from the craft seated on your Throne you pass by a row of Trolls standing silently with only halberds as weapons and they escort you to the largest covering over a large curved table. Settling your throne in the inner curve of the table you wait patiently for your guests to arrive.

The sides of the awning were open and you watch as a hundred yards away their shuttles land and a group emerges from the craft. From the eyes of Gargoyles and Drakes drifting high above you watch as they make their approach across the hard-packed earth. Soldiers in powered armor and helms that resembled polished mirrors escorted a group of officers in civilian envirosuits. The soldiers likely were a group of human, kesh, or vorh from their size and build but there was one that was plainly netu and another the unmistakably bulky form of an osjiic.

Beyond a group of Trolls armed with simple polearms with thermal vibroblades the rendezvous was rather lacking in guards compared to the Confederate group but you had no fear. High above in orbit the Charnel Vault's drop pods were aimed within meters of the tents.

A demi-Think Tank greets the group as they neared and guided them toward the gathering of tents and awnings. There was brief exchange between the construct and the security officer in charge of the diplomats safety and the majority of the soldiers begrudgingly waited in a nearby tent. Stepping under the main awning the officer diplomats gave a start at the sight of you waiting for them and you motion for them to take their seats by in the chairs on the outer edge of the table, "Please, have a seat. I apologize for not having refreshments available as this meeting was quite unexpected."

The security officer and three other soldiers stood nearby, their mirrored helms reading their expressions unreadable but you could sense their gaze upon you and the Trolls standing behind you as well. Admiral Rotaka, her metallic visor visible through the clear armored glass of her envirosuits faceplate, sat in the middle chair as two other officers, a human and vorh, sat down on either side of her.
>>
>>1161151
You might get better results if you mention that the armada does not discriminate in any way, after all, as a male akham, no matter how good he was, he would always be subservient to the matriarchs. Also include some mention of immortality in the mix, mention service in life, death or eternal undeath.
>>
>>1162434
She seems to glance around turning her head slightly but the featureless visor was impassive, "I am quite certain you have been waiting for us to return. Refreshments are unneeded but thank you for the sen-" she cuts off suddenly as there was a loud gust of wind as a Drake drops to the ground at your back. Thick claws score the ground as it walks on its folded wings, long sinuous neck twisting as its massive single eye stares at the diplomats.

The soldiers lift their weapons and step forward aiming at the Drake but you lift a hand and an invisible pressure urges them to gently but firmly lower their weapons, "Now now, calm yourselves. Please forgive them, they are merely curious. We do not often get visitors," you say calmly as the Drake lowers itself to the ground, coiling up slightly and wrapping its four folded wings around itself as it watches silently, head swaying slightly from side to side. The soldiers glance at each other and Rotaka nods, the guards lowering their weapons and taking a step back.

In the other tents the soldiers stood or sat in the bone chairs but kept silent and stared at the unmoving Trolls who stared right back with their eyeless gazes. The Confederate shuttles idled in the distance, a near constant pillar of dust moving away from the craft as their engines gusted lazily.

You tap your claws together as you sit in your throne, looking over those gathered before you, "So tell me, Admiral Rotaka. Why have you returned? My General made it quite clear this is sovereign territory of the New Necrotic Armada after we rescued it from Osjiic hands."

The vorh next to Rotaka points at you, their clicking voice filtering through the envirosuit, "Just because you drive off an invader doesn't mean that system becomes yours by default," they fall silent as Rotaka motions sharply at them.

The woman sighs and shakes her head, "That is partially what we wish to discuss. We would have thought you merely another would be conqueror with access to old Armada technology but," she motions to you, skeletal and clearly undead, "Seeing you in person is quite convincing of your claim."

The other human, an older male with a metal patch bolted over an eye scarred with an acid burn, speaks up, "Do not let Admiral Rotaka's kind words deceive you. It was only the appearance and support of the Armatocere that we have not sent a fleet to retake this system."

Admiral Rotaka gives a long suffering sigh but looks to you, "We have been sent to establish a peaceful relationship between our factions."

The other human mutters something with the voicebox of his suit turned off but you could read his lips say, "For now anyways." but you do not comment on it.

The vorh speaks next, "And to determine the fate of the Confederate population that lived here on Clour. We know they were maintaining a guerrilla effort against the Osjiic but we have received no reports of their survival."

Time for Diplomacy. What shall you say to them?

This world is mine, non-negotiable. An old confederate of mine has a tomb here, as I am sure you all know. I will not allow you do to her Necrotic energy what the Osjic did to Lorgul, taking and stealing his power to make their various void based technologies and soldiers. To that end she is being resuscitated. As for the populace of the station above? They still live and have been integrated into my realm, freely. I am not the Osjic, and while I can be cruel, wanton destruction is not something I relish. I welcome the offer of peace if made in good faith, but given how you already seem to be planning to stab me in the back that seems unlikely. I would have you know the only reason I made my alliance with the Armatocere known was because I was simultaneously fighting off fleets from the Osjic Empire and the local Akham Matriarch. You in effect had 3 fleets to my one. The other fleets are gone and my fleet expands by the hour. You attack me you will lose, either to me, or territory from you other borders as the drain of overcommitting leaves your borders stripped of defenders and easy prey. Regardless the prize you seek here is soon beyond your grasp.

Not sure we should give em too much info about the tomb. However maybe we could give em the other half of the planet, show 'em we can live/work together in peace?

Conquering a world does not make it yours by default, nor does building a colony on top of another civilizations home make it yours...

This world belongs to my sister, I beleive some of you know of the entrance, judging by the amount of damaged mining equipment surrounding it, I assume you failed to try the polite method and.. knocking.

As for the citizens, those who did not resist and fight back are alive and well, those that did fight back, well, quite a few of them are also still alive and well.

I do not harm those who do not wish harm to me, which brings me to the Confederacy, yours is a... unique faction, The osjiic are uncarring of those in their care so long as the war continues so of course they are borish and brutal, the Arkham believe themselves gods so any harm to become their subjects is just an extension of their will but the confederacy.. how can an empire that claims to be so powerful allow so many of those it calls citizens, those who are "under their protection" live in squalor and poverty?
>>
>>1162458
What do you expect us to say to them? It was their idea to come down here in what is currently coming across as a pretty half baked attempt at establishing diplomatic relations.

Tell them their forrner citizens are being cared for fairly, and have been relocated to a planet more hospitable for the living. Mention that we find the confederacy sending so many living souls to settle a tomb world amusingly ironic, and then start bringing up our claims to this rock. If there have been any new structures built in the nearby surroundings, perhaps partially activate them to show off, while mentioning how liches don't like having their naps interrupted by feckless mortals attempting to steal our secrets.

Linking your fingers together you lean in toward the diplomats as your Throne slides forward alarmingly making them recoil slightly, "Explain something to me Admiral. Who are these you bring with you that are so blatantly working against you?"

The man scoffs and makes to speak but Rotaka cuts him off with a firm motion of her hand, "This is Sub-Admiral Benvatte," she emphasizes the Sub part of his title and he shoots a quick glare her way. She motions to the vorh, "This is Senator Luich Caenuy from Veraga."

You turn your head to the vorh and give a nod, "Greetings Senator. Rest assured, those that survived the occupation of the Osjiic are being well taken care of. If you wish I can have a meeting established after this little chat." The vorh looks at you uncertainly but they nod in acceptance, "Very good. I hope you find the conditions of their...captivity to be acceptable."

Turning your gaze to the other human and level a clawed finger in his direction, "Sub-Admiral Benvatte, I doubt you are here for your diplomatic wiles. I do not appreciate this disrespect you show me here on my own world," they start to object and you lift up your finger to silence him, "Uh-uh, my turn. This world is Necrotic Armada territory. The same goes for the system. I know why the Confederacy wants this world beyond the metals in its crust. Planting a colony on a tombworld as a cover is clever but could also be taken as an act of sacrilege, not even mentioning the blatant attempts your people have made at stealing the secrets of the Necrotic from my kin's tomb."

The male fumes but keeps his silence, his fist clenched in anger. Rotaka turns her gaze from the other human back to you, "Confederate High Command and an hasty Senate vote say that because of the admitted presence of the Tomb that this world is yours. Records from the Alliance, ancient as they are, show that your ships designs match those from the old Necrotic Wars. You would understand though, why we seem...skeptical of your words, Jadyk."

"Admiral, please call me Lord Jadyk," you say and the human frowns but nods, "Indeed, before I was defeated and imprisoned in my own tomb I was a monster that saw the deaths of countless living beings. I have had time to rethink the way I interact with the Galaxy and have found a better way. I am not like the Osjiic or the Ahkam, Admiral. While I can be cruel and merciless to my enemies, wanton destruction and endless war are not what I aim for. I welcome the offer of peace if made in good faith like the Armatocere did when I first met them, but give how you already appear to be set on betraying me, that seems unlikely," you say the last part facing the sub-Admiral accusingly. He scoffs again but yet again you cut him off, "You have a bad habit of speaking to yourself under your breath, Sub-Admiral."

>>
>>1162879
Admiral Rotaka shakes her head in disappointment and says something over a private line but you could tell she was chastising the other human who glowers but stays silent. Turning her gaze back to you she leans forward slightly, "You seem like an entity that appreciates directness, Lord Jadyk. I will be blunt with you because I believe the Armatocere would only deal with you, let along ally themselves with you, if you were at least somewhat reasonable."

"Please, do not hold back," you say with a slightly amused voice and motion for her to continue.

Folding her hands before her on the table she calmly speaks, "Confederate High Command sent us here with two main goals. One, to establish at least a temporary cease-fire agreement between the Confederacy and New Necrotic Armada until more extensive treaties can be worked out. Two, to determine the fate of the colonists that once lived here. From what I've been debriefed on the tomb that is on this world, access was persistently denied due to some paranatural circumstances. The main reason the Confederacy came here was for the ore in this world and the other riches of its planets. The tomb being an archaeological conundrum. I can assure you the Confederate High Command and the Senate place more value on the citizenry that was there than on tombs and ruins."

"I find that doubtful, Admiral but I am willing to work with you on ascertaining the state of your former citizens," you say.

"Former?" the Senator asks incredulously.

You shrug, "I supposed it would depend on the individual but I am fairly certain most will make an official immigration to the Armada."

Finally the Sub-Admiral breaks his silence, "What use does a Lich have with the living?" he asks and you can tell he was restraining his anger and disbelief.

"Friendship," you say simply and relish in the looks of utter disbelief they gave you.

They looked at each other and conversed over their private comms before Rotaka turns back to you, "Very well. We would like to meet with the citizens before we sit down for any treaty talk. Sound fair to you, Lord Jadyk?"

The Confederates wish to establish a peace treaty between the Armada and Confederates but ask to see and speak with the former citizenry of Clour and Station 88

"More than fair," you make a motion of counting off on your fingers before speaking again, "Give me a day or two to gather and ship them out and we shall meet here. You may wait here on planetside, we can provide accommodations in the city or bring more tents. The air here is quite breathable to most races," you offer.

For the first time the Admirals stern demeanor cracks when she lets out a small chuckle, "Thank you for the offer, Lord Jadyk, but we will stay in our starcraft if that is alright with you," she says and you give a nod, fully expecting that to be her answer.

The Admiral stands and give a short professional bow and you return the gesture with a bow of your head, "For everyone's safety involved, please remain on your ships," you caution and the Sub-Admiral narrows his eye at that but says nothing as they stand and wait as the Admiral and Senator leave.

The Drake behind you becomes slightly more animated in the swaying motions of its head while it's jaws yawn open slightly and the inner pair gnash hungrily, his eye flitting from the Reconstructed to your own empty sockets, "Know this. I know what the undead are like. I know whatever peace you propose is temporary, that someday we will be worth more to you dead than alive. Just know that I and others like me will be there to oppose you like the galaxy did millennia ago."

"Sub-Admiral, I can assure you, as long as the Confederacy does nothing to oppose me or intrude on in my affairs, there is nothing to fear from me," you clack your talons on the stone of your armrest, "The Confederacy has many crimes it may pay for in the future, the use of Necrotic technology and bartering with the Blackscale Cabals among the lesser of the sins. I've seen the cyborgs, Sub-Admiral. Do not act holier than thou. The only difference been us is you use my technology like children slapping their toys together while I am the one who perfected it before this region of space was even occupied by the intelligent races."

The Admiral and Senator seem to realize the Sub-Admiral was still speaking with you along with the security officer and attempt to turn back but the Trolls step in front them. A demi-Think Tank asks for their patience and understanding as the soldiers grip their weapons tight.

The old human stares at you with a look of shock but they recover and scowl, "Once the Dauntless returns you will not be so cocky," he snaps out and turns to leave with the security officer.

"Do send them my way the next time you see them. It would be good to meet another veteran of the old War," you say and the human tenses and stops for a second before continuing. You shake your head thinking he would not be living much longer with that kind of stress and anger while the Confederates return to their shuttles and depart for orbit.
>>
>>1163351
Vehicles carrying supplies depart from the city to begin construction of a temporary building for the citizenry to meet with the Confederates. Lightyears away on Horizon's Drop and among the outposts of the Legion notices are passed out calling for all those saved from Station 88 and Clour.

Among the Legion and those living peacefully were members of the fleet that Captain Dretst had been in command of. Now an officer in the Necrolyte Legion Dretst appears to have adapted to life in the Armada, helping train and oversee the Necrolytes that focused on space combat and boarding action. From her dreams and the Mental Reader nodes secreted in her personal chambers she seems to be a loyal soldier of the Legion but she still thinks and dreams of her home in another sector and the life she left behind.

The situation is similar among most of those gathered from her fleet but there were some that did have a bitterness in them still. These you suspect would return to their old lives if granted a chance.

Do you wish to have Legionnaire Dretst and other members of her old fleet to be there at the meeting?
>>
>>1163354
Yes. If they wish to leave the union can take them. We would except the whole war thing. Have our spikes fall inert and disassemble themselves if they leave.
>>
>>1163362
They'd have them removed just like the pirates did
>>
>>1163364
Good they can take any non necrotic sensitive stuff and the like too.
>>
>>1163366
Yeah a few of the pirates were given reconstructed prosthetic limbs but anyone returning to the Confederates would be made to switch out to a regular mechanical one.
>>
>>1163354
No. The civilians are free to choose where they go, but any soldier we capture in live combat stays in the Armada for the time being.

The Necrolyte Legion is one part of the armada that actually could use every hand it can get at this point. Maybe in the future we can come back to the issue, like we did with the one year term for Netu slave debts, but for now retain Dretst and the other confederate soldiers.
>>
>>1163354
And just so we're clear on this I'm against both them being allowed to leave and being allowed to meet the confederates on Station 88. They're not quite yet loyal enough to be trusted not to make a scene at this thing.
>>
>>1163376
This, in reference to the slave debt the Netu follow, they fought against the armada so they have the debt to pay back, but once the year is served they are free to leave if they choose.

Idea, because of the effects of the sub space experiment we can prove that there is a link to hyperspace and the wraiths

What if the wraiths exist in the line that separates real space and hyperspace.

We can piss them off once we're strong enough to scale up the conflicts to sector vs sector instead of planetary or system vs system. We're tiny, barely qualify for a stellar kingdom let alone an empire.

yeah but messing with the rift and any possible connection with the wraiths is, guess work atm, let alone that they can detect such things, passing up an opportunity for fear of the unknown never ends well

>>1166942
It's not an opportunity, it is something we can do at any time we want, so we want to wait until we have a more solid power base. If we do the experiment and wraith patron gets pissy about it and he sends a host to suck the soul of every living being on a planet, like those fucks in Lord of the Ring, then we should wait until a time where losing a planet or system is only a minor annoyance, not 25% of our total manpower and industry.

>>1167107
Let's just use a conference call with the necrolytes. Let them say "sup we swore allegiance and we totally like it here, say hi to mom and dad for me" or whatever. It's fucking space magic, physical presence is optional.
>>
I'm not entirely sure why we didn't let them come to our capital. I think it would have been better to let them see things with their own eyes.

I also don't understand the ridiculously hostile attitude of the players towards the Confederation. It's not like the Confeds don't have any reason to be wary of us but we shouldn't base our disposition towards them due to the handful interactions with them. And the "they have defiled necrotic" reason is hilariously childish and hypocritical. We have been "defiling" any energy we can get our body hands on why is it wrong for other factions to try adapt and use energies even if they suck at them?

Remember, Confederation is as its name implies a confederation. It doesn't mean that entire faction is of one mind. If even overly authoritarian and brutal factions like the Osijic Empire have their defectors and internal power struggles that some of their members agree to join us, it wouldn't be hard to have friendly relations with the Confederation.
And don't forget that the hasty senate vote deemed that the system ours, meaning that most of the higher ups don't want to war with us.
>>
>>1167171
We can do it at any time yes, but it is just the start of a likely long research line. We would want to have the end tech as soon as possible, it could give us stuff like passive protection to any ethereal entity, or give us the power to become ethereal.
Or the ability to put our planets and ships temporarily into hyperspace incase of emergencys
>>1167208
It's because we don't want anyone knowing where our capital is. If any hostile faction knew then they could send a billion nukes that go off as soon as they exit FTL. We would have no way of stopping that.
>>
>>1167426
But anon, they probably know where our capital is. Horizon Drop was a confederate colony. And both the Osjiic and the Netu/Pirate know.

We already took one of the most important place for the Empire in this sector, the sector governor (? No idea what his title is) gonna have to react, and he probably gonna call for backup.

But they obviously can't launch all their force against us, they have other ennemis (plenty in fact, from what I understand of their "Diplomacy" police).
>>

Grave already said if a full scale war fleet got sent at us we'd get smushed.
>>
>>1168010
Don't deny that. But with our latest action, we are no mere minor treath. We must fortify and develop quick. The Sector fleet will not "ignore" us more longer I think.

Talking about that, Kanda is a over-industrialized, polluted and devasted shithole, right ? Well that's perfect, that's mean we don't give a fuck about fucking the environement here.

Here what I think we should do with this planet: start the construction of massive bio-dome on several point on the planet, or cluster of casual bio-dome, given what is the most easy to protect (I can personnaly see a "Vanilla" installation compose of one big dome an a cluster of little one, stick to it like buble; with maybe a special one as planetary capital). In this bio-dome would be great farm, to aliment the cauldron and the few living subject, and living center for the said living subjet.

All the rest is mine, cauldron installation, shipyards, what ever industrial installation wee need and FUCKOFF MASSIVE CANON, a lot of them, anti-orbital battery with shield to protect them. The planet would eventually have 4 Finger, who use is to be determined.

It's only task would be to produce a shit ton of metal and use them to spit entire fleet to our warmachine.
>>
>>1168033
And the production and installation of void nova bombs and the anti orbital weapons to shoot them
>>
>>1168010
Sounds like to me we need to ramp up construction.

We better be building ships and reconstructed at all hours of every day.
>>
>>1152897
Also, we should work towards integrating those 7,600 slaves into our city and way of life, and getting those captured enemy soldiers into their roles in the Legion.

>>
>>1168128
We shoud also build orbital defense station, like Terrordrome but bigger. No need to make them mobile, just make them orbit the planet.

We should also try to fortify asteroids, I have two idea on this:

1- The Shockdome

Basicly a repurposed Terrordrome, with camouflage, and disguised as a asteroid (or incorporated in a big one) it's stay dormant until it's can unleash it's weapon. The abscence of propulsor and the increased space should give it additional weapon point.

2- Defensive Asteroid Network/Grid

When a asteroid belt is mined, instead of being let to a bunch of useless rock, it's repurposed. Smaller asteroid as remote bomb or Critters Nest, other with a Semi-Tink Tank and a simple weapon, hiden in the rock ( I suppose this one would be still on relatively small asteroid, so probably one weapon or two, kind of turret) some should be equip with weaponized tractor beam, to be able to use the near asteroid as projectile (notably the remote bomb one). Finally the big one will be dig to install a Tink Tank, equiped with a battery of sensor and/or weapon. each Tink tank will act a "central servor" for a determined number of semi-tink tank, creating a vast network of defense.

I suppose the two are not incompatible and could work together, with the Shockdrome as part of the Network.

I mean, if you want but I won't lie about how dangerous that is.

It will be a VERY dangerous considering that the Sub-Space Jamming research going on right now is related to the effect of reality beacons and sub-space Initial findings so far indicate that modifications to the beacons seems to have an effect on creating the tear into Sub-Space needed for Warp Drive travel.

But don't let me stop progress. This could be interesting.

Oh yeah, one thing I should point out about Sub-Space that I might've left out.

You cannot stop or change your momentum in Sub-Space. You can only move as fast as you were going while in Real Space. The communication beacons are gently "pushed" through a rift and do seem to "travel" through it despite their gentle insertion but it's slow enough to not be of any concern beyond in a few decades you might need to put up a new one as "relatively" the old one would be between systems.

>>1168268
Entities like the Wormstar, the Black Flame, and Ghul are completely and legitimately dead.

Only, death doesn't mean the same for them (or you) as it would Jor or the Commander. Remnants of them do exist, that much is apparent from Jors dreams and the fact that Voidsingers and Deathsheads can hear the whispers of Ghul.

They can never be brought back as they are but their influence still lingers and who knows, maybe entities as strong as they could be reincarnated/resurrected into new forms.

But the Akhaam fleet was needing to travel trought it (the asteroid Belt/concentration) to attack the planet from what I understand of the battle, as a pretty hard fight happen here.

We could also make it artificially, one of the strengh of the DAN ( YES, didn't even realise) is that you don't detect it until your close enough to take the hits.
>>
>>1168282

>>1168233
Its been stated by Lorgul that Ghul is dead as fuck and ain't coming back what's left of him is just shattred whispers in the void. I got it!
They don't know about the blackscales we have.
They got there current understanding of necrotic from a different cabal of blackscales

What if some of out blackscales (after a few precautions made to guaranty loyalty) went and sold there services to the confederation.
They would need to claim that they or the thinktank like things they make can use the cauldrons. That way we keep everything made within our power
The creations will be similar to our reconstructed but different enough to be believed that it's old armada understanding.

That way we can infiltrate the confederation, spy on them, and take them down from within.
We may need to "loose" a few battles with the confederate reconstructed to get them to trust in it, and when the time is right the reconstructed will act as footholds and kill and make more, and hop into the cauldron to fully upgrad themselves and take out a ton of military outposts
but if all goes well we can get one of the large factions to hang them selves for is
