There once was man named Gold Roger, who was the King of the Pirates. He had fame, power and wealth beyond your wildest dreams. Before they hung him from the gallows, these were the last words he said. "My tresure's up for the taking, but you'll have to find it first. I left everything I own in One Piece." Ever since, pirates from around the world set out in search of One Piece, the tresure that will make their dreams come true.

You sit there, keeping a close eye on Billy Volt, the bounty hunter that managed to capture you and you're "crew." Some hours ago, a few members of the his group went on ahead, evidently as per orders of their superior. The sun has begun to set, and you just spotted what is apparently Blutoy Island. It's covered in red and yellow trees. Evidently, it's fall all year round on the island.

As you get closer, you also notice some small fishing boats off the coast. Each of them has a large, blue "W" painted on the side. Both Julie and Volt wince at the sight of them. The boat gets nearer, and you watch as the fishermen throw small pieces of chum at the bikers and shout obscenities. They do their best to ignore them. Eventually, you manage to move away from them as you sail to the back of the island. Theirs a large, log house by the sea with the Flying Bolts insignia on it.

"What's with all those Ws?" You ask. Suprisingly, it's Julie who speaks up first.

"It one of the symbols for Wink's Troupe." She says with resentment. Volt looks at her surprised.

"Yea. Pound Million, a member, makes all the establishments put that symbol on their boats. It's a sign of his protection."

"Protection from who?"

"From us." Volt says with a grimace. As you dock next to the hidout, he looks up at the windows. "That's strange. Hugo should be waiting for us. You two- stay down here. Guard these three. I'm gonna go check things out." Volt jumps onto th le dock and makes his way toward the house. You look over to the two men gaurding you. They're obviously uncomfortable with being left alone.

"So... how many bounties have you guys brought in before?"

".... A lot. We've even taken in a few Devil Fruit Eaters. So if your thinking about escaping, dont."

"Really? Devil Fruits? Ive heard those things can grant all sorts of powers." The look on his face progressively gets more relaxed.

"Yea! In fact, one of Million's henchmen, Mooch, ate the Bu-" he's interrupted by a crashing noise from the hideout. A shadowy mass comes flying from one of the windows. When it hits the deck of the ship, you realize who it is. Volt struggles a bit before standing back up and getting into a fighting stance.

"You guys! Get you and bounties out of here, now!"

"Boss! What's going on? If we just give them the bounties, I'm sure they'll let us go!"

"NO! Whatever we do, we can't give them up. I'll catch up later and explain. Now get the fuck out of here!" Volt says before turning to you. "Listen, whatever you thought we were gonna do to you, I can assure you Million has something much worse planned. For now, just get to the village."

Nodding, you take grab Julie's are as you jump off the ship and onto one of the bike fish. A few of the Flying Bolts follow behind you, while the rest stay to try and support Volt. Miss Green follows behind you on her own bike fish.

You suddenly hear a crashing noise as an uprooted tree lands on top of one of the bikes close to you. You look back, only to see som strange creature hovering in the sky towards you. It looks a bit like a gorilla, but with a pair of violently fluttering wings and two mandibles jutting from its head. You watch as it swoops down, picking up another biker in its jaws before tossing them far away

Keeping you eyes locked forward, you instead listen for the sound of humming behind you. As it gets progressively louder, Julie treks to get your attention.

"Wave...Wave it's getting closer.... WAVE!" She shouts, her voice almost completely drowned out by the wings of the strange bug-gorilla. You immediately stop the fish, causing the creature to sail over your head and crash into the ocean. It's mandibles and wings slowly retreat into its body as it struggles to stay afloat. It must have some sort of devil fruit power.

A biker you recognize as Gill pulls up next to you. He's slack jawed, and his cigarette almost falls out of his mouth before he maneges to close it again.

"I can't believe you actually took Mooch down! That damn monkey has been giving us shit for so long!" Now that you've heard him talk, it's obvious why Gill seemed like more of the silent type. His voice is wheezy and course.

"What's the plan now?" Julie asks. Miss Green moves up to the other side of Gill, and glares at him.

"There's a place in town called the "Lucky Horse" that will keep you sheltered for the night. Just tell them your with us. Me and the rest of the boys will stay near the docks, away from the village. Meet us down there tomorrow; Volt should be back by then."

"And if he isn't?" You ask.

"He will be." Gill responds, a mixture of fear and confidence in his voice.

You finally near Blutoy village, and as they said the Flying Bolts stay behind. You, Julie, and Miss Green all head into the village. It's a fairly small town with dirt roads and only a small number of the buildings aren't warehouses for fishermen. It's fairly quiet out, but you do notice a few patrols of armed men wearing the same Winks Troupe hats you saw on Big Bean. Julie is visibly uncomfortable by the sight of them.

You also notice that many of the buildings have a large, blue W painted on them. The ones that don't seem abandoned, with broken windows and caved-in roofs. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the people in the village pay a high price for not accepting Millions protection.

Eventually, you come to the Lucky Horse, one of the establishments with a W painted outside. There are only a few bargoers inside, and nobody seems to be attending to them. One of the people there walks up to you, getting uncomfortably close.

"What's your deal, mister? We don't get many visitors on Blutoy."

"I'm with the Flying Bolts." You respond, expecting a positive reaction. You don't get one.

"The Bolts? You assholes destroyed fishing boat! Now I have to pay those damn taxes to Million!" You watch him bring up his fist to punch you. Before you can react, an other voice shouts from across the room.

"Tony! You know I don't allow fighting in my bar, especially not for deadbeats that don't pay their tabs. Get the hall out."

"But this guys said he was-"

"I don't care what he says, so long as he's a paying customer. Now leave." Tony grumbles, but walks out the door as instructed. The woman now called him off looks n her mid fifties, with greying hair, laugh lines, and a robust build.

"Name's Maria. You really with the Bolts? Recently join or something?"

Guys, I need to level with you. I don't know if I'm cut out to do these quests. You've probably already noticed the fact it takes me such a long time to respond to posts, and while that's partially the reason I don't think I can keep doing it, there's another, much more esoteric reason.

As I said in the last session, I have most of the story up until your confrontation with Wink planned out, and when writing it I got really excited over what I came up with. But when it came time to actually start running it, the story doesn't turn out the way I envisioned it. The pacing is off, their are a lot of things I didn't write for, or a myriad of other problems. I often find it unenjoyable to write, and its not fair to you guys to be involved in something I don't have my heart in.

Ultimately, when I think about what I have planned for Wave, it feels more like a fan-fiction than a quest. I want to get to the cool characters and interactions I have planned, rather than have poorly written periods of exposition where people choose what to ask about. I want to share what I've made with you guys, but I don't want to wait for you to discover it. You guys deserve a QM that can provide the much more open, free-form quest that I can't.

So that leaves us with three options:
>I can continue writing like this, if you guys really don't mind waiting hours for posts and some railroading
>I can go on a hiatus of indeterminate time, and (hopefully) I'll return to running this when I can commit more and write better
>I can stop now and start on something new, plus tell you everything I had planned (characters, future arcs, etc.) in case you're curious

>>
>>1159292
Yeah, man. If you want to write a story you don't need us YOB. A quest is all about the collaboration, so we need the opportunity to make choices. I'd recommend you do whatever you want, but railroading will result in players feeling like they have no agency and that's the opposite of what you want in a quest. That's not to mean you can't tell the kind of story you want to tell, you just have to tie into the direction the players want to drive the story. Honestly QMing is real hard, but I'm still willing to play if you want to run.

You listen here friendo. I know exactly what's going on through your head right now. "Where is my story going, if anywhere? Will this quest run long enough to see it through? What about the plot twists? Will I maintain interest in it long enough to provide? Should I take canon off the beaten path? Will people actually play it."

I know how you feel. You're off to a good start too! Be thankful as FUCK no one's derailed your quest into Rise of Robo-Hitler Revengeance like they did mine! It's ultimately up to you

If you stop though, maybe do the reveal in the form of a short epilogue?
I think most QMs just make characters, events ect and lets the players just mess around in their sandbox as a way to stop themselves from railroading.

I just want to know if we fucked that ho over in the end for fucking us up like that.

Fuck it, in a sec I'm gonna start an info dump for what I had planned. This isn't the end of my story as a QM, but because of the previously mentioned reasons, I just don't feel like what I've come up with is meant to be in Quest form

First off, the Blutoy Island Arc was going to transition to you meeting up with Volt, and he explains to you that the Flying Bolts originally protected the island from invaders, before Pound Million arrived on behalf of Wink's Troupe. Threatening to destroy the island, Million struck a deal with the Bolts: if they terrorize the village so that Winks Troupe can look like heroes, while handing over any valuable bounties they come across, he would leave the inhabitants of Blutoy alone. What Volt didn't know until Shen told him during their fight at the hideout was that the taxes Million collects from the villagers are more than enough to fill pay their dues to the Troupe, and Million was using the extra money to buy his independence from Wink. After doing so, he would basically be able to do whatever he wanted with the island, without needing to worry about a steady supply of tax money, essentially turning the villagers into slaves. The reason Volt didn't explain this to you back at the hideout was because he knew that his men would stay behind out of rage, when he needed them to get themselves and you out.

Volt himself is from a sky island. His village was burned down by raiders when he was young, and in order to protect him his parents set him adrift on a cloud that was just dense enough to slowly descend to earth. His father gave him his sword (which is basically Ohm's sword) for protection. Wanting desperately to ascend back home, Volt cut off his own leg to try and make the cloud weigh less, but to no avail. He eventually landed in Blutoy, and was taken care of by the lady you met in the bar. In order to try and find his home, Volt studied navigation, and hopefully would fill that role on your crew. There was also gonna be this pivotal scene where Million starts burning down Blutoy, and he gets a panic attack because it reminds him of his childhood.

The whole Arc was gonna end with a fight against Million, an abnormally obese man who uses Hasshoken with a large mace with a bell for a head (it would be revealed much later that such weapons are actually used to train Hasshoken novices) and Volt would leave with you because he feels as though he is indebted to you.
>>
Next there was gonna be the HotsPot Island Arc, taking place on a small rock island with numerous hot springs and a spa. The spa caters to pirates, civilians, and Marines, so violence is not permitted on the island. The staff all wear snow monkey masks with hoods that hide their faces and prevent them from talking. The masks also hide collars created by the islands owner Zebura, who has the Pet Pet Fruit, allowing him to manipulate anyone he places a collar on.

Zebura has a three favored pets: Nemo Sina, a lionfishwoman who leads the aquatic security forces, Gho, a man who ate the Drill-Drill fruit who digs underground, and Redtone, a pyrotechnician who rides a giant parrot called Keat. You would have teamed up with the Marine Captain Kelly, who just so happened to be on vacation there. After defeating Zebura, Kelly would agree to stop tracking you for a little while in return for freeing the people of HotsPot, and also take on Sina as her second-in-command.

Zebura himself was born to a rich family, and enjoyed his multiple friends who took advantage of his family's funds. He was cut off due to his overly lavish actions, and as a result all of his former friends left him except for his loyal pet monkey Koji. Koji ran off to get some food for Zebura, and when he returned Zebura shot him out of rage, believing he had abandoned him and had returned to make fun of him. It was only afterward that he realized what he had done. He ate the fruit, which turned out to be the Pet Pet Fruit, and came to believe that the only way he could achieve a meaningful friendship with anyone is if he forced them into a master-pet relationship like the one he had with Koji.
>>
The next arc would take place on an island called Dragon's Grove. Dragon's Grove is an island completely covered by trees and foliage. According to myth, the trees come from a dragon who breathed life into them. Unbeknownst to most, however, the legends are true. An ancient green drake called Masaki used his breath to bring life to the island, but unfortunately created a forest that was so dense it trapped him. Unwilling to harm any of his children, Masaki stayed deep within a hidden grove in the forest. One day a Human Human fruit from a tree fell and was absorbed by the trees roots. Moriko was born, a Tree-Woman who saw Masaki as her father. Moriko has spent most of her life in the forest, hunting food for Masaki who has become weak due to old age. She learned archery and fragmented English from spying on local village hunters.

When you get to the island, you are hired by the village elder to transport a young boy dying of an unknown illness to the center of the island and convince Masaki to use his breath to cure him. However, the dragon is also sought after by members of the Yaga Pirates, who have been searching on behalf of their captain Baba "Maneater" Ogre for ways to bring Baba Yaga out of a comatose state. Originally the only executive crew member present was "Red Nosed" Cherry, a perpetually sick man who ate the Zilla Zilla Fruit Model: Gecko (he has this fighting style based around ripping off his regenerating tails and using them as clubs) but his forces were killed by Moriko in an effort to protect her father. In response, Ogre sent "Demon Cat" Suzi, a sadistic woman who stylizes herself as a cat-themed idol, and Yuto who was recently reunited with his family. Suzi ate the Armor Armor Fruit, giving her the ability to summon armor that would reform as a stronger material every time it was destroyed, starting with cardboard all the way to diamond.

When you finally found Masaki, it would be revealed that while he can cure the child, it would also result in his death. While the dragon is perfectly willing to sacrifice his own life, Moriko fights you in an effort to prevent the death of her father, but is eventually convinced otherwise by Masaki. After the Arc concludes, Morkio would join you as a shipwright, because of her unusual ability to "communicate" with wood. A large part of her character was her lack of knowledge of the world, leading to awkward situations.
>>
Next, the crew would travel to the Turala Islands, a small cluster of warm tropical islands that form a ring around one of the deepest trenches in the sea. Once every few years, a landmass containing valuable veins of ore rises from the bottom, buoyed up by ice. Eventually, however, the ice melts and the island returns to to the bottom. The few weeks the island is accessible attracts treasure hunters from all over the world. The Turala Islands are considered an independent nation by the World Government, and their ruler, Queen Maui Bermuda, prevents the World Government from taking action on the multitude of pirates that gather for the "Turala Rush". Her son however, Prince Maui Canary, wants the islands to become recognized by the World Government, mainly due to the the grudge he holds on pirates for killing his father, Maui Hawaii.

Hawaii spent years as a legendary pirate before returning to the island to become its king. Another pirate captain that held a grudge against him, however, killed Hawaii. Canary keeps in close communication with Rickard, the leader of Cipher Pol 8. Rickard is enamored by Charity, his primary enforcer, an extremely strong woman. Unfortunately for him, Charity is attracted to strength, and Rickard, while deviously clever, has an unusually low blood pressure, making him fairly weak and exhausted by most physical activity.

The floating island is also the location where Baba Yaga was defeated, where she was trapped in amber by a Marine Admiral's devil fruit. Baba Ogre intends to free her and take over the island. Ogre ate the Vac Vac Fruit, giving him the ability to create a huge vacuum with a hole in one hand, and released absorbed objects through a hole in the other. Additionally, he could choose to selectively pull in certain objects, provided he touches them first.

Serving under him are two more executives in the Yaga Pirates: Mickey "The Guillotine" , a silent member of the longleg tribe who is always listening to his headphones and crushes his enemies using his unnaturally long and powerful legs, and "Whirlwind" Uma, a cross dresser who ate the Spin Spin Fruit and has an intense hatred for women who he thinks are more beautiful than him.

Lastly, there is Baba Rico, the middle child of the Baba siblings. Unlike his brothers, he actually has a moral compass, but unluckily for him he has a natural gift for medical chemistry. His mother sought to mold him into someone like her, and forced him to experiment on human prisoners. This gave Rico an extremely cowardly temperament, which he overcomes when he needs to by smoking his pipe which contains special herbs. He fights using a sword-style designed to utilize his extreme wrist strength from crushing minerals into medicines. It's based around inflicting large, circular wounds that are almost impossible to stitch due to their strange shape.
>>
>>1160460
I didn't really have a plan for how to end this Arc, but I did want to have a scene where Ogre breaks down after finally reaching his mother in the center of the island, only to discover she's long dead. Rico tries to convince him to leave as the island sinks back into the ocean, but is unable to.

Rico joins the crew as a doctor, seeking to repent for the years he spent harming people. He also arranges for Yuto to become a guardian of the Turala Islands, ensuring his younger brother would have a family to make sure he didn't become a malignant force again.
>>
>>1160396
That Dragon Grove sounds nice, wound Yuto have been recruitable?
>>1160483
I would have enjoyed reading Wave's grudging acceptance of these crazy people on his crew.
Did you think about how the thing with Julie would go? Retaking her island and such?
>>
Next, I was considering adding a small arc before finally reaching Stepp Island, Julie's home island. Before reaching the island, however, it is revealed by a news coo that Wink killed a member of the Seven Warlords, taking their place. This means that defeating him now could be considered a crime, and Julie might not be able to clear your name of piracy afterward. Hopefully, you had grown attached to her to the point that you carry on with the mission. The arc is fairly simple, where your crew members must all defeat the three Executive members of Wink's Troupe, and you defeat Wink himself.

First off is "Ghost Ship" Gulliver, a swordsman who ate the Mist Mist Fruit. This allows him to create a small pocket dimension that can be entered via the mist he creates, and generate some minor illusions. Next is Rojin "The Athlete" an incredibly strong man who uses a sports-based martial arts and baseballs, soccer balls, and more made out of lead to kill his foes. Finally, there was "Gaudy" Bellow, who ate the Dog Dog Fruit Model: Coyote in tandem with a pair of large hooked blades connected by a long chain. He would primarily fight in his half-beast form, but sometimes go full coyote and carry the chain his mouth and swinging around the hooks. I hadn't yet decided on Wink's abilities, but I was playing around with the idea of a Devil Fruit that gave him the power to drain the color from people and objects, making them useless and fragile.

At some point, it would also be revealed that Wink and his executives were all former slaves. Gulliver's sword is actually one of the Meito, and was once used by his former master. Rojin trains his body to such extreme levels because he believes that playing sports and using his muscles for reasons other than manual labor is a huge "fuck you" to his former masters. Bellow grew up mining coal, and the coal dust that stuck to everything basically made his world devoid of color, which is why he tries so hard to make everything flashy and flamboyant. The reason why Wink is so obsessed with removing weakness from his troupe is because he left his enfeebled brother behind in order to escape slavery. Wink believes that if he tolerates weakness now, it will mean that he could have tried to save his brother.

After freeing Stepp Island from the tyranny of Wink's Troupe, I had no idea what to do with the Quest. I had thought about having you take over as a Warlord, but I guess we'll never know now.
>>
For those of you wondering why Julie tricked you instead of just hiring you; Julie spent months trying to hire bounty hunters, but nobody agreed to take on Wink. Her feelings of helplessness and inability to avenger her father led to her plan of forcing someone (you) into service

Miss Green is a cyborg created by Julie's father, Julia Verde, in order to protect her. Unbeknownst to Julie, Miss Green is actually modeled after her older sister, who died before Julie was born.
>>
>>1160549
Yuto maybe would have joined, but Suzi had taken on a warped maternal role in order to manipulate him. Ultimately, his brother Rico is against him living a life of piracy, believing it to be a bad influence on someone as simple minded as him.
>>
That's everything. If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask them. I currently have another quest in the workings, but I won't be running it until I feel like I can properly commit.
>>
>>1160600
This sounds like it would have been fun to play through YOB, but I understand that you wanted to drop it.
What would have happened if we still didn't like Julie when we got to her island? Would the crew have followed us or her? How did Green get captured? Would we ever see Wave's family in quest?
>>
>>1160618
1) I don't know. That's part of the reason I don't think this would work well as a quest- I just assumed you would because that's the way I wanted it to be.
2) The crew would ultimately follow you, but they would try their hardest to get you to help Julie
3) What do you mean "captured"?
4)I didn't really plan for you to reunite with your family any time soon, but I considers making Wave's father an Emperor
>>
>>1160634
We broke Green out of jail. How'd she get caught in the first place?
>>
>>1160638
The marines were frisking Julie due to her suspicious behavior, and Miss Green perceived it as an illicit act. The whole thing was kind of a setup to enact Julie's plan.

HA
Yeah, probably a good idea afterall to stop running if you were banking on that so hard..

Although by that point im sure you would have come up with something different for wave and julie to do when they went their separate ways.

I honestly think they'd have gotten closer by then.

YOB, if you ever wanna just write with minimal input, there's nothing wrong with just going with it. There's also places like Anonkun where you can literally state "this is going to be very light on reader input" and just have people dice roll or input very small ideas.

I feel dirty just suggesting that site, but it works.

Are you trying to kill his book before it even starts?

It's not that bad if yob just wants to write.

Unless she stopped trying to be a funny happy go lucky bitch all the time and apologized and was real for a moment, I don't really see that.
Even then i could see wave, the way we've been going with him, to stop hating but i don't think he'd like her after all the shit she put him through.
