Everyone sweats and swelters under the hot sun. “You know...” Patton tries to reassure everyone. “In these hot scorching temperatures, General Patton defeated Erwin Rommel and euurgh...” She slams her face onto the table. “... kill me.”

You all sit at tables as Griselda explains the plan to everyone in the early morning. “Alright. And that'll be how we win this match.” Griselda folds her arms, looking around at everyone. “Any questions?” You all raise your hands. “Any questions that don't involve the heat?” Everyone lowers their hands. “Alright. Tend to your tanks, we move at high noon.”

Everyone picks themselves up and peels themselves off the tables and starts moving out. You look over to see your crew walking alongside. Everyone sweats ferociously under the hot sun. It's absolutely terrible. Stack herself is down to just a simple tank top and pants, and clearly Ingrid has the same idea as she's stripped down to just a shirt and the skirt. Winona and Josephina are busy unbuttoning their blouses as well to let air in.

“Elodie, you look hot,” says Winona.

“I'm not that hot, this heat is nothing,” you say. “Really this-”

“I wasn't talking about the heat,” says Winona. You try to slap her, but the heat is too much. Instead you just gently push her head to the side. Eugh, dumb girl. All of you wander into the fairgrounds. You noticed that a lot of people are sticking to the shade or have umbrellas out. Smart people.

You all find a place selling some ice cream and cool drinks and immediately buy yourself some cold food. You munch down on a severely melting creamsicle, so hot that it's already dribbling down onto your chest. Winona and Stack simply opt to take their ice water and splash it on their face and on their neck to wash off the sweat before drinking. Other than that though, you keep on walking around. “So hot...” Stack tugs on the strap of her tank top.

You look to the side and see Arisu buying a hot dog, apparently not even acknowledging the heat.

Wait. WHAT. “Guys! Look!” You point over to Arisu. They look over.

Only for Arisu to not be there when they look.

“I think now's not the time for hot dogs, Ellie,” says Winona.

“But-” You blink. “Eh, whatever.” You sigh, walking with the crew again. “I just wonder how Christie is handling this heat.”

Winona smirks, sighing a little. “I know Perrine actually tried to build a tank with a freeze ray. Still in the prototype phases.” What. Winona grins, holding her cheeks. “Just thinking about it makes me feel nice and cool. Ah, fall can't come soon enough.”

“Elodie! Elodie Zumwalt!” You turn around to see Kit Blumenthal and a huge horde of journalists coming your way. Oh fuck. “We got some questions for you!”

You sigh, turning around. The reporters all immediately swamp you and start flashing you with cameras. Kit smiles at you, notepad at the ready. “Hey there, Elodie! Kit Blumenthal! I'm here to get your thoughts on the upcoming match today! So, how do you think you'll do against JWC?”

“I think we'll do just fine,” you say. “Perrine is a pretty competent tanker but we have our ways, we'll try and sweep them before they even know it.”

“Really?” Kit smiles at that. “I see. You've recently converted your Cromwell III into a Cromwell VII with an LT mod to retain the Six-Pounder gun, how is that working out for you?”

“It's the best of both worlds. I would've preferred the Comet tank but we are kind of short on money, we need to make do. This was a pretty cheap conversion, I think we'll do just fine with it. If we need to convert, I'm sure we'll find money to convert.”

Another reporter asks, “And your thoughts on your upcoming opponents?”

“ZES we can definitely take on, Joan D'Orleans as well, they'll be relatively smooth sailing. We're first in the division, but we have to work hard to hold that. Hopefully not too hard,” you say. They all nod at that, writing it down in their pads.

“Are you looking forward to the All-Star Game and FleetFest too?” asks Kit.

“Definitely.”

They all smile. “Alright, we got everything we needed!” says Kit. “Let's phone it up, people!” They immediately move as a mob to a booth full of computers where they can email their findings to their various departments. Well, that was harmless.

Winona smiles. “Look at you, so famous now!” You roll your eyes.

“I'm looking forward to FleetFest!” says Perrine. She grins happily, folding her arms. You've left your crew behind and rallied up on the stage for now to talk with her before the match. “I hear things are gonna be real great for the All-Star game this year. Commission Durocher is gonna be picking Rozaliya for her EL Rookie of the Year for sure.”

“What about WL?” asks Griselda.

“That is a good question.” Perrine points to Iris, then to you. “These two could make a strong case. But Iris is already a shoe-in for the WL All-Star roster. Elodie though might. We'll have to see.”

“Eh.” You shrug. “I've seen my progress on the All-Star votes, it's not good.”

“You do pretty good work,” says Perrine. “It's not cricket, oui, but it's good work!”

You smile a little. “Well. Thanks, I guess.”

“Anyway, you ready for the out, Perrine?” asks Griselda.

“Definitely! Bon chance, alright?” Perrine shakes hands with Griselda, then offers her hand to you.

“Okay, stick to the plan, let's go!” The Jagdpanther and the King Tiger move northwards, while you take the Hellcat westwards. The rest of the team starts moving southwards, slowly and very deliberately in order to not create so much dust. The key thing to this plan is to get them northwards so you can engage them on your terms.

Your tanks keep on moving westward.

“Gah! It's cooking in this tank!” yells Winona. “Don't we have AC!?”

“I'm pretty sure we do!” says Stack. “But I don't remember how to get it!”

“Fuuuuuck!”

You lean back against the hatch, spying around with your binoculars. Once you get to a certain position, you halt advance and scan the area.

Suddenly, you see all of JWC moving southwards in a gigantic mob. Due to the dust they're kicking up, you can't tell their exact formation, but you can see the AVREs are taking the lead. And the one with a bulldozer blade, an infrared lamp on the turret, and a crane jib on back, and the .50 Cal turret on the turret, is in fact Perrine. Damn. It even has sideskirts and everything. Wow. “I see heading through the south.”

“Didn't we want them going north?” asks Iris.

We did, actually.

What are they doing? They're not seriously going to just run straight through rough terrain to get the entire team, are they? Well, those Churchills do have quite the climbing capability. Not to mention who knows how well those tanks are modded. They probably are just going to bullrush their way in. But with their artillery too? That's insane! Those Calliopes can't engage in fights directly!

You aim at one of the lead Churchills once you get into range. “APDS shot, Stack.”

She loads it in quick. “Up!”

“Winona, target one of the lead Churchills.” You go full stop. As does the Hellcat. “Fire!”

The Six Pounder gun fires the APDS shot out. It flies true and smacks into the side of one of the Churchills. The engine blows out, forcing it to a stop with a popped white flag.

> KO: STEPHANIE BRIGGS (Churchill VII AVRE “Blowout”)
> KILL CREDITED TO: ELODIE R. ZUMWALT (Cromwell VIIw LT “Oliver”)

The entire Christie team keeps on steaming forward however. However out of the dust, you suddenly receive an intense barrage of low caliber tank shells. They bounce and smack and ding off your turret. The Hellcat pulls back. “FUCK!” yells Dalia. “What the hell is that!?”

“That must be the Coelian!” says Stack. You hear a dull thud against the side of the turret. “And that is the Kugelblitz too!” You force yourself up again to see what's what, and find the Kugelblitz, the Coelian, and the Panzer III engaging. “Watch that Panzer III, the gun is a squeezebore!”

“Everything can take us out though!” yells Dalia.

> ACTIVATE LOYALTY ABILITY LOCKDOWN: - 10 CP
Kill the Pz III first, then aim high for the Coelian's turret to knock it out, then the Kugel to finish. As soon as we can break lockdown, we'll swing West, turn their flank even further.

Have Dalia pull back Eastwards and get hulldown in the foothills to flank JWC as they come in. Move the Northern pair down to Route 10 to also join in the flanking fire, though they likely won't arrive until JWC is already entering the hills. Reorganise the forces in the hills to fight a series of ambushes and retreat around through the hills anti-clockwise. We'll reverse the initial plan, pulling them around North instead of South.

See map, arrows in mountains are abstractions, will actually be a series of stop and start engagements/ambushes followed by retreats. Assuming Southernmost group is heavies under Iris, while Northern is Mediums led by Gris.

Seconding this.

Danon's never let us down before.

Also I forgot for a bit we still only had the 12 usable tanks. I wonder if we'll even be able to get an actual full team for the finals?

> Danon's never let us down before.
This fills me in equal parts with pride and fear.

As for tank numbers, have faith, now that our practices are getting some publicity we might get more crews and money coming in, and there's a chance that if we beat JWC we could get a big boost to interest in joining/supporting the team.
>>
>>1134261
13 usable tanks and 2 more in the shop so 15 tanks.

so we have half the amount we need for the 30 tanks fights.

“Dalia, pull eastwards and hide in those hills! Duchess, Serina! Come down to assist us!” You pull down into the tank and scream, “Stack, stack, stack!”

“What!?” yells Stack.

“I mean, start stacking shells!” you yell. You grab a shell from the ready rack. Josephina brings the tank to a halt. The Coelian, the Panzer III, and the Kugel come in close and fire off your shots. Their shells don't penetrate at range, but they shake the tank very wildly. But still, Stack loads in dutifully and Winona fires quickly. You hand off another shell to Stack who loads it in. One shell goes right into the Panzer III's mantlet, disabling it.

> KO: FRIEDA PORSCHE (Panzer III Ausf. L mit Waffe 0725 “Der Fuhrer's Face”)
> KILL CREDITED TO: ELODIE R. ZUMWALT (Cromwell VIIw LT “Oliver”)

You fire off another shell, which goes smack dead center into the Kugelblitz. It spins out, then flies onto its side overturned.

> KO: OLIVIA BLUME (Flakpanzer Kugelbltiz “Gork”)
> KILL CREDITED TO: ELODIE R. ZUMWALT (Cromwell VIIw LT “Oliver”)

And finally, the Coelian runs around and fires off several 37mm shots into your side. The Cromwell shakes and sputters as it takes the shots before two six pounder shots find their way into its side.

>KO: MIKAELA KOSHKIN (Flakpanzer Coelian “Why does your Mom let you have two Flaks”)
> KILL CREDITED TO: ELODIE R. ZUMWALT (Cromwell VIIw LT “Oliver”)

A persistent white smoke starts flooding into the compartment. You cough. “Agh! What the fuck is that!?”

“We've been hit!” says Stack. She flaps her hand, fanning the smoke. You both pop hatches to air out the smoke. “I think we've got a coolant leak!” Oh, wonderful.

You pop out of the hatch and find the Sturmtiger lining up a shot. “It's about to fire!” yells Griselda. “Brace!” The massive rocket shoots out, and slams into the hillside. A massive dust cloud plooms out. Even from this distance you can feel the impact and shockwave.

The fact that a strategy anon is willing to bust his head has made the fights more interesting. And it's not like we'll hunt you down, tie you to a tree, and have Stack slather honey on you if your plans don't work out, especially against Next Generation Strategy Perrine.

What the- You poke your head out again. No flags? You look through. It must've fell extremely short to have... The Calliopes line up as well, then fire their rockets forward of the positions Griselda and Iris were setting up. They smash and tear up the landscape ahead of them, creating craters and holes right in front of the defensive positions. The Churchills start moving in, as do the rest of the tanks behind them. “What are they doing?” you ask.

“Motherfuckers.” Griselda calls out through the radio. “They're fucking making heavy cover out of the shell craters!” The now flattened and hole-y landscape is now defensive positions for J. Walter Christie. The spent Calliopes pop their rocket racks off with the help of explosive bolts on their support struts. They all move into shell craters deep enough to obscure their tracks. Perrine's especially uses a bulldozer to lift more dirt up and create a berm big enough to hide almost her entire tank, except for the top half of her turret.

Fallback. No point attacking them when they're in a fortified prepared position.

Have Griselda and Iris stay in their long range positions, but move to higher ground where they can. JWC just expended most of their long range ordnance.

We will rush the Sturmtiger, which has now been left behind by the rest of their team, and if they come out to try and save it, they'll expose themselves to flanking fire from the Hellcat and incoming JT and KT. Once the ST's done, we'll pull back to a safe distance and try to affect some repairs, see if we can't lock down that coolant leak.

Once that's done JWC will have a choice. Attack our positions, in which case we revert to our original plan of ambush and retreat, stay in their defensive positions and be slowly picked off one by one from long range fire, or fall back through the gunsights of us, the Hellcat, JT and KT.

“Griselda, Iris, stay where you are! We'll take them down!” You see the Sturmtiger slightly out of position behind the pack. That's what you need! You close in for the kill at full speed. The Sturmtiger apparently realizes this and pops its smoke. The plan now will be to barrage them at range. Perrine won't have a choice to save her or her tanks. Either she can go full into the defense and get worn down or she can rush the hills and get slaughtered. Either way is good really.

The Sturmtiger's crew tries to reload a new shell by crane on the move. Once they see you closing in, they pop back into their hatches and try to turn around to face their front to you. Too late. You pop them with a shell right into their engine block. It gets set aflame. “Again!” Another shot, this time to the side of their fighting compartment. You power slide next to it, point blank for cover between you and the Christie tanks.

Right. “Alright, prepare to fire-” Griselda stops the command when she sees something. You pop up high out of your hatch to see smoke canisters being popped out of the Christie tanks, all of them. The smoke grenades fired out of the Churchills pop in mid-air, spreading smoke down and creating an even bigger smoke cloud. “... Okay, Perrine. What the hell are you doing now?” Is she trying to create smoke for an assault? That smoke's eventually going to dissipate so she can't be trying to draw you all in. Does she think you're all stupid? Not even your intuition is working here.

Stay here, use the Sturmtiger as cover to start pumping White Phosphorous rounds into the JWC position. Ask that any other members of the team with WP rounds do the same. We'll make the smoke screen their enemy as much as ours, and whatever they're trying to do within it will be severely hampered.

“Fire white phosphorus! Let's go! Everything we got!” Stack loads in a WP shell. Winona fires it off into the smoke.

Griselda yells, “Load up Willy Pete and fire into that smoke!” Every team member capable of firing white phosphorus fires it off into the giant smoke cloud. You lean back, watching as you fire off another white phosphorus shell. More shells explode in and around the smoke cloud, spreading burning white sparkles all over the place. If they're trying to build something in there, they won't succeed now. The white phosphorus shell adds to the gaps into the smoke cloud, making it bigger and bigger.

Just then, you see the Tiger II and the Jagdpanther arrive to your north finally. Dalia is also set in position. The smoke cloud starts billowing up, getting bigger and bigger. Christie must be adding more smoke in.

You all wait. All your WP shells are spent. What are they up to in there? You squint, leaning forward.

“Anybody see anything?” asks Iris. You feel a soft rumble beneath the tank.

“They're moving!” says Duchess. The smoke cloud starts drifting outwards, dissipating somewhat. Still, you can't make eye or ear of where they are as the smoke starts to roll towards you. Huh.

Perrine's AVRE suddenly bursts out of the smoke, coming damn close. “BRACE!” you yell. The spigot mortar fires right over your head, and explodes right behind. Behind her are the other AVREs storming the Tiger II and the Jagdpanther, who quickly start to reverse to build distance. And behind the AVREs are the Spigot mortar Matilda II tanks, and behind them are basically everything else.

Son of a bitch! “What's happening!?” yells Griselda. Perrine's loader quickly loads in a new spigot, turning it to you. The White Phosphorus did nothing!

Charge straight into the middle of their attack as they clear the cloud and Death Blossom to tear the heart out of the first wave.

As we pass Perrine, have Stack lob a WP flare (not the shells which we've expended, but the flares generally fired from the 2 inch bomb thrower) into the barrel of the AVRE. She can prime it by smacking the base against the turret like a mortar shell and Perrine will have a bad time when it ignites.

Once the Death Blossom attack is complete their attack should lose momentum and disorganised, at which point the Hellcat and Tigers can firing squad them as they emerge.

If Perrine manages to somehow not explode, she'll have to spend some time carefully extricating the armed WP flare without detonating the dustbin (firing would not clear the obstruction, it would blow up the tank). Have our tanks on the high ground disperse the smoke with HE rounds then move to reinforce.

“Take us in, Josephina!” you call. Oliver moves in, being sprayed and peppered by incendiary shots from Perrine's .50. Oh no she doesn't! “Stack!” Stack pokes her head out of her hatch, then you toss her a WP flare stick. “Give her one in the barrel!” She salutes, then sits herself up. More sparks fly as bullets shoot past or bounce off the turret. You start your pass of Ragin' Cajun. Stack primes the flare then lets her arm whip it out into her barrel.

Direct hit! It explodes in the barrel. Perrine waves off the smoke before turning down into her tank. Ragin Cajun' stops. You speed into the middle of the formation. “Josephina! Death blossom!”

“Merde, this is going to suck!” she whines. You feel the tank buckle as it starts spinning around, powersliding as it speeds forward. You fly right into their formation, just in time for the first APCR round to go in.

The wreck of five different tanks astounds you. Good Christ. How did that happen- The tank comes grinding to a halt, before settling on a new cruise speed. The AVREs, Hedgehogs, and remaining Calliopes start brawling with the King Tiger, the Jagdpanther, and the Hellcat. The Hellcat weaves through, trying to get a good shot in but succeeding only in drawing fire. “Jesus Christ!” yells Serina. “Look out!” A dustbin explodes near the King Tiger and Jagdpanther. “Start firing HE and clear the place out!” says Griselda.

The melee is joined, with the group clearly intending to focus on the King Tiger and the Jagdpanther. The Hellcat continues trying to find sniping shots but does not succeed at such close range, and it's only a matter of time before they decide to spray it with their .50s. “Alright, everyone-” You see some shots plink off the back of your turret.

“Attack!” you order. The Cromwell turns around and immediately speeds towards Perrine's Churchill. The barrel is still hot and glowing from the white phosphorus burning inside of it, but the BESAs still work for sure. “Winona! Put one through their weakpoint!”

A shell flies true and spears itself through the hull MG. The tank comes screeching to a halt. Oliver rolls around to the side, pointing the gun dead at the turret side. “Got them!” says Winona. Perrine suddenly pokes her head out and pulls out a flare gun. She looks away, covering her eyes with her arm. What the-

She fires it. The flare explodes between you two, shining bright like a FLASHBANG AAH YOUR EYES! “MY EYES!” screams Winona. She spaz fires the gun, making the APDS shot glance off the turret top. You blink the brightness out of your eyes, rubbing them. You then see one of the Matilda II tanks coming in to engage. It fires off a mortar shot from its spigot mortar rack at you. Son of a-

“Reverse!” You back up, just out of the radius of the explosion. You see the melee go on in the background.

Perrine orders the engines to max revs, which billows a great vcloud of black smoke out of the exhaust. She plans to retreat through that it seems. Not if you have anything to do of it. Oliver speeds around her side. “Fire AP!” The shot plinks off her turret side as she starts to pull a J-turn around to face her front to you “Load APDS! Get us closer!”

Stack rams the APDS shell into the breech. “Up!”

Oliver speeds forth, around her side, point blank again. Perrine is ready with another flare shot. Not this time! “Close your eyes, Winona!”

“What-”

“CLOSE YOUR EYES!” you yell.

“O- Okay!” Perrine fires another star shell at you. You're almost blinded by it, but you keep your arm up. That's not going to work twice, bitch!

“Fire!” The APDS shell smashes into her turret side, popping the engine and sending simulated fires out of the turret ring. Ammo cookoff.

Perrine is absolutely covered in dust, muck, and grease, as are the rest of her tankers. They don't actually look very disheartened though. “Man, that was some real Tankery we just took part in, Elodie!” You smile at her. The cheering you got from the crowds when you drove by in the recovery truck was immense. Not to mention all the kills, the interview by Kit, everything. She offers her hand. “But hey, tomorrow's not gonna be so easy, Cheri.”

I look at it this way, I'm glad that we got a draw in the very least, this is not exactly a match that is condusive to draws. We're going to need as many saved points as possible. The next part is to turn them into won points.

Also more All Star Points for Ellie as she climbs up...to still not make it past the line, because some hot tanker sneezed and took out 5 tanks in a glorious spectacle that involved scenery destruction...

You only have to kill one enemy tank in a flag match, you can be precise and surgical. In an elimination match you have to slug your way through the whole enemy team, and when you're at a disadvantage numerically as we are, that makes it tougher.

You smile at her. “Looking forward to seeing if you do.” You shake her hand, nodding to her.

Perrine nods as well. “Iris, you too. You're a real killer!” Iris nods, politely shaking her hand. “And GrisGris.” Griselda blinks, looking to Perrine. Perrine immediately hugs her tight, shocking you two. Perrine steps back, looking her in the eye. “I expect you to get some kills tomorrow! You're slacking! I was expecting more from you!”

Griselda snickers a little, surprisingly. “It was an off day. I have these two to back me up anyway.”

“Aw!” Perrine grins. The two lock hands, then hug each other again. “You tell Gertrude I said hello, oui?” Perrine kisses Griselda on the cheek lightly, then pats her cheek. “Tomorrow's match, we're going to pull out all the stops! I'm not afraid of the so-called 'Big Three'!” With that, Perrine turns around and heads out.

The three of you stand there, smiling. Griselda smiles at you two. “You guys really saved my bacon there.”

“No. Elodie saved our bacon today,” says Iris as she sips her tea.

“Well-...” You smile a bit. “Come on, it's not Big One and Two Others.”

“It was when I was on my killstreaks,” says Iris. All of you giggle at that as you turn around and head towards camp.

That's it for tonight's LGA2. Hope you all enjoyed. Next weekend will be our flag match, hope you're all prepared.

Today's highlight reels:

- LGA: Elodie Zumwalt pulls a successful death blossom, sniping five tanks in a single pass. Later eliminates more than half of JWC's team, including Perrine Hobart herself.

- KGB: Rozaliya Ulanova eliminates five WAN Cromwells in stunning circle strafe, pulling a wide powerslide over wet grass. New maneuver immediately dubbed "Rozaliya's Funnel"

- CG: Down to the last two tanks, Meryl Hoffmeister and Dix Hauser engage in hour long epic duel. Meryl Hoffmeister finally earns killshot by ricocheting shell off of street and into Dix's engine compartment from below.

- SGH: Sherbrooke pulls stunning ambush on Candido Mariano Da Silva Rondon tanks. Two SGH Marder tanks earn seventeen kills.

- ZES: On the backfoot with a deficit of 1 to 15 tanks, Mei Xiang rallies back to eliminate all 15 in a single close quarters battle, showing off her Shimada-ryuu teaching.
