>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a twenty-two year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

"I train with Capsule Corp technology," you tell the reporter. "I can't lose."

"You heard it here first, folks," the reporter announces as she turns to the camera. "Tofoo has already declared that he can't lose, claiming that his training with Capsule Corp technology will assure his victory. Let's hope he can live up to his boast, as this is sure to be a fierce competition!"

As soon as the reporter walks away, Bulma grabs you by the ear, yanking you toward her and speaking in a very annoyed tone. "Tofoo....do you know how it will look if we lose after you say something like that?"

"Bad?" you guess.

"That's right," Bulma tells you, her voice a low growl. "So don't do anything to make Capsule Corporation, or me, look like fools. Go out there and win it!"

She lets go of your ear, which you rub as you glance toward her somewhat fearfully. You know your wife well enough to understand that if you embarrass her, you're going to be in some trouble. There are some things even a warrior like you are never safe from, and the fury of Bulma is one of those things.

"I won't lose," you promise, which earns you another glare, but at least no more attempts to rip your ear off.

"Good, then let's go and get you registered," Bulma says, walking off ahead of you and leading the way to the registration table, where one of the many members of the staff sits with a clipboard in front of him.

"Yes, another competitor?" he asks, glancing up at you. "Ah, Tofoo, right? Welcome back. I take it that you'll be competing once again?"

"So you can see Kori and Konattsu compete," Bulma says, sounding pleased.

"There is just one thing, Mr. Tofoo," the man tells you, his expression becoming serious. "You were disqualified from the last tournament, please try not to cause any trouble this time around."

"I'll do my best," you vow. "Let's just hope that things don't get as crazy as they did last time, and that no reincarnated demon kings try to kill everyone again."

"Uh....right," the man says, shrugging and going back to waiting for competitors to register.

You step away from the table, taking a look around to see if you can spot any other competitors. At the same time, you sense for your friends. You quickly spot a large crowd gathered around someone you can't get a good look at. You can hear him, though, and he's quite loud.

"YEAH!" you hear him roar. "That's right, folks! You're looking at your new World Champion!"

A moment later, you sense three higher-than-average powers, all of them together, and two seeming extremely familiar.

The energy you're sensing interests you far more than the posturing of whatever competitor the crowd has gathered around. While Bulma and Trunks look curiously toward the boasts of the other competitor, you make your way toward the energy, pushing through the crowd until you find the sources.

The first person you recognize is Shen, whose lips curl upward in a smirk when he sees you. Standing beside him is a man you don't recognize. He stands a hair shorter than Shen, and is dressed in a white gi with some sort of symbol in a red circle on its left side. He seems to be quite old, with grayed hair and a large, white mustache. Despite this, he looks at you with the eyes of a trained warrior, and you've little doubt that this man is one of the Earth's true martial arts masters.

And, standing on the other side of the man is a person that you haven't seen in years. His hair and mustache are quite similar to the man between him and Shen, but he also has a large, white beard, and is dressed in black. Despite his elderly appearance, you know that this man is one of the greatest martial artists on the planet. And, you know this because you battled him yourself once.

Jackie Chun.

"Well, one of you finally showed up," Shen remarks. "I was starting to wonder if coming here was a waste of time."

"You're competing, then?" you ask Shen.

"Naturally," the Crane Hermit tells you in an amused tone. "I wouldn't drag myself out here just to spectate your silly little matches. I'm here to show you, along with both my former students and Roshi's just exactly what the Crane School is capable of."

"They already know what it's capable of," Chun comments. "Losing."

"SHUT YOUR MOUTH OLD MAN!" Shen shouts as he whirls on the other martial artist.

"YOU'RE JUST AS OLD AS I AM!" Chun shouts back. "AND I LOOK TEN YEARS YOUNGER THAN YOU!"

"That's enough!" the man in the middle tells them sternly.

Surprisingly, the two cease their bickering at once, looking toward the other man and muttering apologies.

"Who are you?" you ask, not recognizing this person that both Shen and Chun seem to know.

"I'm the one that trained these two," he explains. "My name is Mutaito."

Mutaito...you think that you've heard that name before. Yes, Roshi mentioned him in the past, and if you're not mistaken, Mutaito was the one who originally defeated King Piccolo.

"So then, you trained Master Roshi too, right?" you ask.

Mutaito nods.

"Do you know where he is?"

The old man smiles, amused. "He's doing a bit of special training. I'm sure that you'll be seeing him soon enough."

Chun chuckles. "My cousin's a sneaky one. He'll show up when you least expect it."

"So, why didn't you compete in the last tournament?" you ask Chun.

"There were several reasons," the old master tells you. "But, I regret that I missed it. From what I understand, it was quite the exciting event."

Mutaito steps forward, seeming to take a moment to study you, though a man of his experience probably did that within the first three seconds of spotting you just to be on the safe side.

"I saw that you were the one who defeated Demon King Piccolo," he says, his tone respectful. "I'm most impressed. Killing that monster was a task that even I couldn't accomplish."

"Saw?" you ask.

Mutaito nods. "Those slain by Piccolo and his foul clan are doomed to wander the Earth as restless spirits until the end of time. For more than three centuries, I endured that fate, unable to do much more than observe as the world rebuilt itself. When King Piccolo returned, I saw you and others face him and his minions, and I saw you deliver the killing blow. You did what I couldn't, and for that you have my undying respect."

"Thank you," you tell him. "But, you're even more impressive. Your Mafuba technique sealed him away and gave the Earth time to heal. You gave the world time to wait for someone to appear who could deal with Piccolo."

Shen and Chun don't comment on this conversation, though they seem to be listening intently. Mutaito offers you a smile, accepting your compliment.

"Still, I didn't exactly finish Piccolo off," you confess. "He was reincarnated."

Mutaito nods. "I saw that, too. That devil was even more tenacious than I'd thought."

"Well, at least the new Piccolo is nicer than his dad," you say optimistically.

"So I hear," the old master says somewhat grudgingly.

"So, the three of you are going to compete, then?" you ask.

"That's right," Jackie tells you. "I think that us old masters can still teach you a thing or two."

"I agree," you tell him. "But, I'm much stronger than before, and this time, I intend to win."

Chun chuckles. "You have gotten a great deal more powerful, that's true. But raw strength isn't everything."

Mutaito nods in agreement, while Shen just smirks again.

You bid them farewell and make your way back toward the registration desk, looking for Bulma and Trunks. You don't see the two of them there, just some guy with long blonde hair and a red handprint on his cheek standing in front of the registration desk.

Wading back into the crowd, you close your eyes and try to sense for their energy, but surrounded by so many people, it's hard to isolate theirs. You do, however, sense another familiar power coming, which you identify as Yamcha.

Looking into the air, you spot an Airship moving to land in the distance just outside of the grounds. You recall Yamcha bragging about some awesome new ride he was able to buy, so you figure that he and Lazuli came in that.

Continuing through the crowd, you're soon stopped by a small group of pretty young women who recognize you from your appearances in various televised tournaments.

"Can we have your autograph?" a brunette asks in a dreamy tone.

"I need to go find my wife," you inform the girl. "But, I'll sign autographs later."

The girls seem dejected, but before they can plead with you to sign anything right this minute, you smile, and move away as fast as you can, leaving an Afterimage behind. When one of the girls reaches out to touch you, she screams as your form fades into nothingness.

Free of fans for the moment, you dash around above the crowd, looking for Bulma and Trunks. You spot them in the market area, in front of a hotdog cart. Oolong has rejoined them, and is paying the man for his own food.

You fly down and land in front of them, scaring the hotdog vendor and causing him to throw Oolong's hotdog into the air, where a bird swoops down to catch it, carrying it off.

"Alright, you owe me another one!" Oolong tells the man, who continues to look at you nervously.

"Y-yes sir, coming right up," he stammers, retrieving Oolong some food.

"Where did you go?" Bulma asks, moving her own food out of Trunks' reach.

"Jackie Chun, the guy who beat you in the first tournament?" Oolong asks before taking a bite out of his hot dog.

You nod.

"Well, that's not really a big deal," Bulma says dismissively. "You nearly beat him when you were a kid, and you're thousands of times stronger than you were back then."

"She's right," Oolong tells you with a mouth full of food. "That old geezer doesn't stand a chance."

"Shen shouldn't be much trouble, either," Bulma tells you. "And Mutaito...he's the one that died fighting Piccolo all of those years ago, right? No need to worry about him."

You shrug. "Anyway, did you guys figure out what that crowd was about? Did Goku come back or something?"

"Thankfully, no," Oolong tells you after swallowing another mouthful of hot dog. "He might have actually had a chance at beating you, and I'd be out of some serious money."

Bulma gives Oolong a serious glare, and the pig slinks away as fast as he can.

"No, it was some martial artist named Mr. Satan," Bulma says as she looks back at you. "Apparently he's pretty popular for winning some regional tournaments lately."

"Mr....Satan?" you ask, a bit confused.

Bulma nods, a look of mild distaste on her face as she glances back. "I don't know where he got the name, but that's what they call him. He seems more like a performer than a fighter to me."

"Do you think I'd look bad if I beat him?" you ask. "People seem to be all over the guy."

Bulma stares at you a moment, her expression silently asking if you're serious. "Tofoo, it's a tournament to see who the strongest fighter on the planet is. If you throw the match so that you don't upset someone, I promise that I'll never be "all over" you again. Got it?"

You nod, knowing better than to test her on this.

"Good," she says, trying to balance Trunks and her food so that she can take a bite without Trunks trying to take the hot dog from her.

"Here, let me hold him," you say, reaching your hands out.

Trunks is handed to you, and Bulma takes a nice big bite out of the hot dog as Trunks watches. He lifts his head to look up at you, seeming to silently ask if he can have one.

"Is Shen really the only other person to show up?" Bulma asks in disbelief after taking another bite of her food.

Before you go, you decide to get your son a hot dog. Bulma warns you to keep an eye on Trunks to make sure he doesn't choke on it, and you promise to do just that. You buy the food, and hand it to your son, who laughs and begins to wave it around before trying to take a bite out of it. When he can't immediately do that, he goes back to waving it around like a toy.

You close your eyes, sensing for the energies of Yamcha and Lazuli. They're actually heading in your direction, so it doesn't take long for you and your family to go and meet them.

Yamcha's decked out in the same outfit he wore back during his days as a desert bandit, an interesting choice. Lazuli looks gorgeous. She's not over-dressed, but dressed nice enough where she's sure to turn heads.

"Hey, I should have figured that you'd be here," Yamcha greets when he sees the three of you. "All signed up and ready to roll?"

While you and Yamcha exchange pleasantries, Lazuli and Bulma do the same with one another, and Trunks continues to wave the hot dog around, laughing to himself.

"I could sense Tenshinhan and Chaozu moving this way when I was flying over," Yamcha tells you. "They'll be here in a few minutes. Haven't seen any sign of the others, though."

You inform Yamcha that Shen, Jackie Chun, and Mutaito will be competing in the tournament.

He doesn't seem particularly concerned. Instead, he sounds excited. He slams his fist into his palm, grinning eagerly. "I can finally show Shen just what I'm made of, and if I can show up the former World Champion while I'm at it, that'll look great!"

"Speaking of World Champions, there was some guy called Mr. Satan who was shouting about how he was going to win the tournament," you inform your friend. "Know anything about him?"

"Yeah, I know that name," Yamcha tells you. "He got his name from the Dojo he studied at, Satan Castle. He's won a bunch of regional tournaments, and his personality apparently makes him entertaining for a lot of people to watch. As far as I can tell, he's just a guy with a lot of strength."

So, no real threat, then. It's looking like your only real challenges are going to be Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Chaozu, and maybe Krillin.

"What do you think about your chances?" you ask.

"Honestly?" Yamcha asks in turn. "If I can just make it past the first round, I'll be happy. But, I'm sure you're going for the championship title."

"Of course," you tell him, glancing down at Trunks to make sure he isn't trying to shove the hot dog down his throat or anything.

Nah, just pushing it against his face for some reason. You put a stop to that before looking back up at Yamcha.

"You should go register," you suggest.

"Good idea," he says, getting ready to leave.

But, you have something else to ask him.

"So, what's with the get-up?" you question. "Are you doing bandit stuff again?"

Your friend rubs the back of his head, chuckling at you. "No, it's just that, well, I learned from both Roshi and Shen, and now I'm not really a student of either. In fact, I've mostly retired from martial arts. I'm not part of any school anymore, I'm just Yamcha again, so this just kind of felt right."

He steps past you and jogs into the crowd. "Anyway, catch you soon!"

You're left with Trunks, Bulma, and Lazuli. The two of them continue to talk with one another, mostly about what you and Yamcha have been doing at first, but then deviating into clothes and sticking with that.

It seems like things are going to get pretty dull, but that's when you hear a voice.

"Hey, down there!"

Looking up, you spot Tenshinhan and Chaozu coming in for a landing, the two former Crane Students causing quite a buzz in the crowd as they descend from the sky and land in front of you.

They're dressed as they always are, and look pretty much exactly how you remember them.

"I figured we'd find you here nice and early," Tenshinhan tells you with a smile.

Chaozu floats over, staring at Trunks, who stares back. The tiny man makes a funny face, and Trunks laughs, clapping his hands together, and, in the process, losing his grip on the hot dog.

As the food flies toward the ground, Chaozu stops it in midair, moving a hand and causing it to float right back to Trunks, who smiles as he grabs it again.

"That was Yamcha I just saw, right?" the three-eyed man asks.

"He went to register," Lazuli tells him. "You should probably do the same."

"Yeah," Tenshinhan agrees. "Ready, Chaozu?"

Chaozu turns away from Tenshinhan, nodding and floating back to his friend.

"You guys should know, Shen, Jackie Chun, and their old master, Mutaito are going to be competing in this tournament," you tell the two.

They stop, Tenshinhan glancing back while Chaozu turns toward you.

"Thanks for the head's up," Tenshinhan tells you. "But I'm not worried about any of them."

Chaozu says nothing, but he doesn't appear to be overly afraid himself. The two continue off into the crowd.

As they move, you attempt to feel their energy. What you sense is about the same as what they had when you were travelling in space together, which tells you that they must be hiding their true power. You try to find out just how much power they're hiding, and are able to sense that there's a lot of it. But, exactly how strong they've become, you can't say for certain.

"Well, looks like everyone's finally gotten the lead out," Bulma observes. "Good thing, too. It's not much longer before the junior division gets started."

"Hey Bulma, do you know what happened to Launch?" you ask.

"Last I heard, she went off somewhere with Lapis," Bulma tells you. "I'm not really sure what they were doing."

"My brother wanted to do some kind of training," Lazuli explains. "So Launch probably went along for the ride."

"Do you think he'll compete?" you ask.

Lazuli shrugs.

Well, if he's coming to compete, you should be able to sense him. You close your eyes and focus, and are quickly able to detect multiple powers converging on the island. Krillin and Chichi are flying together, while Kori and Konattsu appear to be racing. Piccolo is well on his way, and you sense another power coming.

Yes, that must be Lapis.

You feel more and more energies gather on the island, and soon hear the announcement that the Junior Division is about to begin.

Taking to the skies, you fly toward the stadium, finding that much has changed about the stage in which these battles are decided.

The ring itself is far larger than before, for instance, and massive stands surround it, meaning room for far more people than could have reasonably attended in the past.

A large gathering of energy tells you where the others have gone, and you fly down into the stands, taking a seat beside your wife, who reaches out to take Trunks.

In the ring below, the same announcer who's overseen the tournaments since you were a child raises his microphone above his head, then brings it down and addresses the crowd.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!" he shouts. "WELCOME TO THE TWENTY-FOURTH WORLD MARTIAL ARTS TOURNAMENT!"

The crowd erupts into cheers.

Once they've settled, the announcer continues. "This is a special occasion, folks. Never before has the World Martial Arts Tournament included a Junior Division. Here, you can watch as tomorrow's greatest warriors get their first taste of fighting in the ring! So, let's hear it for our fine young fighters!"

The crowd erupts into cheering once more as a long line of children emerge from the contest hall, stepping into the ring and spreading out across it. There must be dozens of them. Children of all shapes, sizes and colors, from tiny children about Kori and Konattsu's age to boys and girls in their early teens. Most of them look to be about what you expected; children with little to no experience who are probably there at the behest of their parents, though a few look like they've probably thrown a punch before.

"Unlike our adult tournament, there are no preliminaries in the Junior Division," the announcer explains. "So, these thirty-two little warriors will face off in the ring, competing for the title of Junior World Champion! And, in addition to the title, the winner will receive a cash prize of five million zeni!"

"So, either Kori or Konattsu are going home rich," you comment.

"Probably," Bulma tells you. "Unless they do something to get disqualified."

"I've explained the rules to Kori more than once," Suno tells Bulma from nearby. "She'll be fine."

"And we've told Konattsu all about it as well," Chichi announces. "The two of them have been sparring constantly for months, they know how to control their power."

Krillin chuckles. "Good thing, too. These other poor kids would be in some trouble if they couldn't."

The Junior Division soon begins, and it is about as stupid as you'd expected. Half of the matches end with one kid crying and giving up after one solid blow lands. While this does make things progress faster, it gets old really quickly.

There are a few kids that seem to know what they're doing, however. In particular, a little dark-haired girl about the same age as Kori and Konattsu, is actually quite skilled. She may be young, but her technique is impressive, and she certainly packs a punch.

You think that her name's Videl or something. If Krillin and Goku's kids weren't competing, she'd probably be the winner.

Of course, Kori and Konattsu breeze through their fights, looking quite bored as they do so. None of the other competitors can land a single blow, and half of them fail to try.

>A. Comment that this is stupid

Still, despite how silly all of this is, you find yourself cheering for Kori and Konattsu. The victories may not be hard-fought, and the matches might not be long, but you support them anyway for getting in the ring and winning their matches.

In the semifinals, Konattsu easily disposes of some fat kid, sending him rolling out of the ring with a single strike. Kori, on the other hand, has to face off against Videl, and if you didn't know any better, you'd say the young Half-Saiyan is excited about that.

When the match begins, Videl decides to take the initiative, rushing at Kori and attacking with a rapid and well-aimed series of punches. Against a normal girl, such an onslaught would spell serious trouble, but Kori is able to block and parry with ease.

Videl spins and throws a kick at the side of Kori's head, but the red-haired fighter catches her ankle, saying something to the other girl before letting go, causing Videl to fall over.

The dark-haired girl gets back up and drops back into a fighting stance.

She's certainly determined.

But determination alone is not enough, and after making a few more attempts to strike Kori, Videl is sent sliding across the ring by a shove, falling off the edge and landing on her back. Kori is declared the winner.

Suno's daughter walks over to the edge of the ring, jumping down as Videl picks herself up. The two talk about something for a moment before the announcer shouts that the final round is about to begin.

Kori hops back into the ring, and Konattsu steps in to face her.

"These two fierce female fighters are close friends outside of this competition," the announcer explains. "They spend their days sparring in the woods or the snow, and today they face off in the ring for the title of Junior Champion!"

This could get interesting. Kori certainly has the edge on raw power, but Konattsu has both her mother's resolve and her father's cunning. Honestly, while Kori seems to have the advantage, this match could go either way.

Unable to choose who specifically to root for, you decide to cheer for both of the girls.

In the ring, Kori and Konattsu bow to one another before taking fighting stances. Kori wastes no time in beginning the fight, firing a wave of energy at Konattsu in an effort to force her onto the defensive.

Konattsu leaps into the air, and Kori redirects the wave, sending it up after her. The dark-haired girl raises her hands in front of her face, and you instinctively shield your eyes.

"SOLAR FLARE!"

A blinding light shines over the stadium, and you hear countless people cry out in surprise and pain. Uncovering your own eyes, you watch Konattsu rush down to attack a disoriented Kori, only to strike through an Afterimage. Konattsu searches for the real Kori, and finds her even higher up in the air, slowly uncovering her eyes.

Kori rushes down toward Konattsu, who quickly retreats and lands on the floor of the ring, looking up as Kori comes rushing down. At the last moment, Konattsu moves out of the way, leaping back just in time to avoid a punch from Kori that instead slams through one of the tiles.

Konattsu takes the chance to strike, kicking Kori in the face and sending her flying off of her feet. However, Kori backflips and lands in a crouch, springing at Konattsu, who isn't fast enough to dodge this time. The resulting punch knocks Konattsu onto her back and sends her sliding partway across the ring.

"Amazing!" the announcer calls. "After some airborne acrobatics and very flashy techniques, each fighter has landed a hit on their opponent. But neither of these ladies look ready to give up!"

Konattsu leaps back to her feet, holding her hands out to each side, and unleashing two waves of energy. The audience screams as the blasts appear to be heading for them, and sigh in relief as the attacks redirect, striking one another halfway between Kori and Konattsu, and creating a smokescreen between them.

Konattsu comes rushing through the smokescreen, and Kori strikes, only to realize that she's hit an Afterimage. Konattsu strikes from behind, landing a solid kick to the back of Kori's head which sends the Saiyan faceplanting on the ground.

In all honesty Tofoo doesn't need to ask what kind of training they have been doing. They probably have been doing what he did after he left the "Turtle School".
>>
>>1112719
"They really should be in the adult division," you comment before cheering even harder.

"We couldn't have beaten them at the last tournament, that's for sure," Krillin tells you, grinning as he watches his daughter fight.

Konattsu fires a blast at the prone Kori, who launches herself off of the ground and into the air in retreat. Rather than giving chase, Konattsu fires a barrage of energy blasts up at Kori, who quickly moves to evade them. As she continues to fire the blasts, you see Konattsu's body glow, and split into two separate beings, both of whom continue to fire attacks into the air. With twice as many blasts in the air, Kori can't evade for long, and is soon struck, causing her to halt her movement and leaving her vulnerable to the barrage that follows.

She raises her arms to shield herself, and takes hit after hit, until a cloud of smoke surrounds her, obscuring her from Konattsu's sight. At that moment, a wave of energy breaks through the cloud, rushing down toward the two Konattsu's, who leap out of the way.

Kori explodes from the cloud, rushing toward one of the Konattsu's and striking her in the gut with such force that she goes flying from the ring.

"No!" you hear the other Konattsu shout just before the one struck by Kori slams into the wall just below the stands.

The Kori in the wall fades away, leaving one Konattsu hovering above the ring.

The announcer looks around in confusion, seeming not to know how to call that. But he quickly settles on a ruling.

"Well, there may have been two Konattsu's, but one touched the outside of the ring," he tells the crowd. "So, that's gotta count. The winner, and new Junior Martial Arts Champion is Kori!"

The crowd erupts into cheers once more as Konattsu lands in the ring, slowly walking to Kori and stopping right in front of her. The two look at each other for a moment, exchange some words, and shake hands.

"Let's hear it for these two amazing fighters!" the announcer shouts to hype up the crowd. "I'd say these girls are going places!"

You bet he's right. And you can't help but glancing toward your son, who watches this with wide, innocent eyes. Maybe next time, he'll be the one in the ring being called champion.

Or, maybe not. But there's one thing for sure; these kids will be ones to watch.

"You guys should get going," Bulma tells you and the others in your group that plan to compete.

She's right, the preliminaries will be starting shortly. You rise from your seat and take off, ready for your part of the tournament to begin.

>Maybe so, but isn't it kind of a good thing that the next generation might surpass the current one?
Yes, but I'm just saying that last generation could have easily kept up at the same pacing. Plus the only way they would surpass Piccolo, Goku, Tofoo, and possibly Krillian is if they all quit training. That or Tofoo gets so full of himself he pops like a balloon.

Do we have a chance of learning IT when Goku is back?
>>
>>1113149

I don't see why not. One of the problems DBZ had was that ABSOLUTELY NOBODY bothered to share their techniques.

Sure, it would make battles a bit repetitive if everybody had the same techniques, but at the same time that shows how retarded everybody was for not bothering to learn abilities other fighters had.

At least in Tofooverse they bother to learn some abilities like the kaioken instead of being goku-only like in canon and it would be pretty boss if more people besides Tofoo bothers to learn IT from Goku once he's back and maybe Tofoo teaches the kuma-ken to others.

For the first time in several years, you step into the contest hall of the World Martial Arts Tournament, finding it even more packed with people than you can remember. There are hundreds of warriors, from massive towering men of might, to people so puny that they make Krillin look huge. As always, there are rings scattered throughout the hall, platforms on which the contestants will fight their preliminary matches.

"Man, it feels good to be back," Krillin comments from beside you, looking around the room with a grin. "It's been way too long."

"Agreed," Tenshinhan says, a smile on his face as he takes everything in.

"So, what's the deal with this?" Lapis asks, coming up behind the group. "Is this where we get rid of the weaklings?"

>A. Wait, he's competing?

>B. These are the preliminaries. These will decide who gets to fight in the main tournament in front of the crowd

"Wait, you're competing?" you question.

Lapis smirks, spreading his arms out. "Obviously. I've been doing some training, and learning a few tricks. Now I'll get to have some real fun with them."

He returns his arms to sides, and looks around the hall once again. "Seriously, though, what is all of this?"

"These are the preliminaries," you explain. "They decide who fights in the main tournament in front of the crowd."

"We basically do a bunch of short matches until there's only eight competitors left," Krillin explains.

"Sixteen this time," you correct.

"Really?" Krillin asks, looking up at you in surprise.

"Well, that certainly gives all of us a better chance of making it in," Tenshinhan comments.

"Not that it'll matter," a rather obnoxious voice declares.

You turn around to see an extremely tall, fat, dark-skinned man with his hair tied back lumbering toward you and your friends, looking down on you both literally and figuratively as he stops a few feet away.

"You puny wimps won't stand a chance," he declares.

Krillin looks up at him, a tired expression on his face. "You really are an idiot, aren't you?"

The big man laughs. "You've got guts, shorty. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but you will never hurt me. Just hope that you don't get put against me in the preliminaries."

"Yeah, I'm sure your stupidity would be too much for me to take," Krillin remarks, turning away from the man and waving his hand dismissively. "Now, mind going away? Thanks?"

The big guy gets a confused look for a moment. "Oh, I get it, you're afraid. And you should be."

Krillin says nothing, and you see a bead of sweat drip down the man's face.

"Well, see you later, shorty!" the man declares, turning away and stomping off.

If you didn't know any better, you'd swear he sounded nervous.

Lapis crosses his arms, looking toward Krillin with disapproval. "So, is there a reason you didn't smash his face in?"

"Fighting outside of the ring is against the rules," Chichi explains as she glares in the man's direction. "Hopefully one of us will get the chance to rip him apart in the ring."

"Nah, fighting that guy sounds boring," you comment. "I want a real challenge."

Tenshinhan chuckles. "Yeah, fighting somebody like that would just be a waste of time, wouldn't it?"

Yamcha gives a nod. "Still, it would feel nice to take that moron down a peg."

"There's idiots like this at every tournament," you remind him. "Just ignore it."

You look toward Krillin's wife. "Chichi, are you competing as well?"

She smirks, giving you a nod. "Of course. Krillin and Konattsu aren't the only ones in the family that can fight, you know."

"Attention," a voice calls over the crowd. "Attention everyone."

Turning toward the sound, you and your friends spot an elderly looking man standing on one of the stages, in front of a microphone. Once this guy's finished speaking, the preliminaries should be starting.

"First of all, I'd like to welcome you all to the twenty-fourth World Martial Arts Tournament," the official tells everyone. "This is the largest gathering of warriors we've had in the history of this tournament, which means we have a lot of matches to get through, and not a lot of time to do it. So, let me go over the rules. You will fight a series of matches to decide who progresses to the main tournament. These matches will have a time-limit of one minute, and will end if a competitor touches the outside of the ring, is knocked unconscious, or stays on the ground for a ten count. If no winner has been decided by the time a minute passes, it will be up to the judge to decide. All forms of weapons and armor are banned from these matches, and outside help is strictly prohibited. Claws may be used, but only if they're natural. Killing your opponent is strictly prohibited, as is fighting outside of the ring. If you do either of these things, you will be disqualified."

He gestures to another official standing by the wall. "Now, everybody form an orderly line and take a number from the box. This will determine your placement in the brackets. And no, there is no trading allowed."

Thankfully, the line moves pretty quickly and everyone is given a number. You're happy to find that you won't be fighting any of your friends in the preliminaries, but suspect it to be more than just luck when you see that Chaozu's smiling.

What's the point of even being a human if Som isn't even gonna let us be relevant and compete with Super Saiyan nonsense anyways. He wouldn't adhere to the canon to where Humans just can't do anything after a point. That's stupid.

Super Sayain 2 and 3 are a whole different ball game. I meant keeping up with him in atleast Super Sayain.

>>1114883
We're almost as strong as 4th Form Frieza with Kuma-Ken at this point in time, I believe. Give Tofoo a year and he'll be at 100% Frieza possibly. Give him a another half year or a bit more and he'll be early Super Sayain. Give him another year and he'll be Trunks Level Super Sayain and could have beaten Mecha Freezer by himself.

The preliminaries get underway, and you find yourself unsurprisingly able to effortlessly deal with your opponents, whose strength wouldn't have even been a match for you when you were a child. None of your matches last more than five seconds, and you're granted a place in the tournament.

The preliminaries do give you a chance to watch how the others fight, however. And you observe the competition, both old and new, friends and foes.

That big guy that was insulting Krillin, apparently named Pintar, is able to move with surprising speed for a man of his size. His strategy seems to be simply overwhelming his foes with size and power, allowing him some rather swift, brutal wins. However, you know a strategy like that won't work on you or your friends, and judging by his energy, you might have been able to handle him back at your first tournament. He won't be worth worrying about.

Krillin wastes no time in his battles. He holds back his power enough to avoid seriously harming his foes, but still strikes hard enough to knock them unconscious with a single strike. There's little to learn from his matches, only that he possesses great control.

Chichi similarly ends her battles in swift, powerful strikes, though she seems slightly less concerned about harming her opponents than Krillin does.

Tenshinhan and Yamcha approach their battles similarly to Krillin, and Chaozu seems to just unnerve his opponents, moving in a somewhat unnatural seeming way that psyches out his opponents, and allows him to easily win with a single strike.

Lapis seems to take his time with a lot of his matches, taking nearly the full minute on each one. He seems to enjoy toying with his enemies and showing off as much as possible, and his technique is quite impressive.

Shen wins his battles with precise strikes that allow him swift victories, while Chun simply flings his foes from the ring the second his matches start.

Mutaito, on the other hand, seems to allow his opponents a chance to strike, not that it matters. Not one of the old master's enemies can even come close to landing a blow, and are dealt with quickly.

Mr. Satan, the one you were told about, seems to be quite strong, at least for a normal human. If he'd competed in the old tournaments, he might have been a decent opponent, but as is, he's simply a strong guy who really seems to enjoy showboating. Still, he makes it to the tournament proper.

The blonde man you saw near the registration area before wins his matches with graceful techniques that throw his foes off-balance. He's a decent martial artist, but not strong enough to be a threat.

The theory goes Ozaru is 10 times base, SSJ is 50 times base, SSJ2 is 100 times base, SSJ3 is 400 times base, Golden Ozaru is 500 times base, and SSJ4 is apparently 8 times Golden Ozaru or 4000 times base. SSG is probably 1000 times base, and SSB is double that or 2000 times base.
>>
>>1114947
if Blue is a mixture of God and SSJ, wouldn't that make it like 50,000 times base though?
>>
>>1114954
It's really not that impressive compared to Red. Also God's name suggests that it's the SSJ version, which would make SSB something like SSJ2, but the modifiers for anything from Super are pure conjecture.
>>
>>1114932
You spot a large, muscular guy whose appearance vaguely reminds you of the big Saiyan that came to Earth with Vegeta. The only difference is, this guy has long brown hair, and isn't nearly as strong. He seems to have very little strategy besides rushing his opponents and savagely attacking until he overwhelms them. He makes it to the tournament, but you doubt he'll make it far.

There's also a short-haired, dark-skinned man in green who uses powerful and well-aimed punches to take his opponents out fast. Another one you can categorize as a non-threat.

"Would the sixteen competitors please wait here?" the official asks once all is said and done. "The rest of you, better luck next time."

The other contestants clear out of the hall, some grumbling about how unfair their matches were, others not seeming to care too much, and others just being good sports and expressing determination to try again next time.

"The announcer will be along shortly to assign you positions in the tournament bracket," the official explains. "So please, don't wander off."

He leaves, and you figure you have time to talk to at least one person before the announcer shows up.

Piccolo may be the most dangerous opponent that you'll have to face in this tournament. He's nearly killed you on more than one occasion, and is one of the most powerful warriors that you've ever known. It may be worth talking to him before the fighting gets started.

Unsurprisingly, he's isolated himself to a far corner of the room, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed and his eyes closed. He hears you as you approach, and his eyes open, his head turning in your direction.

He says nothing as you approach, and you get the feeling that he's taking the opportunity to size you up a bit. When you stop in front of him, he simply looks at you expectantly, waiting for you to say something.

"How's your training gone?" you ask the Namekian.

Piccolo closes his eyes, chuckling in a way that tells you he's quite confident in the results. Still, when he opens his eyes and answers, he simple tells you that you'll see soon enough.

"I have to pay you back for that little stunt you pulled in the last tournament," he adds. "I hope you're ready."

"Of course I am," you tell him. "Oh, that reminds me, what name are you entering with?"

"Majunior," he answers.

The same name as last time? You aren't entirely sure that's the best idea. In any case, you wish him luck, and return to the others.

"This should be fun," you hear Lapis comment. "I wonder which one of you I'll be up against first."

"You'd better hope you get paired with one of the weaker guys," Krillin tells him, pointing toward Pintar and Mr. Satan. "The rest of us might be a little more than you can handle."

Lapis smirks. "We'll see."

"Hello, competitors!" a voice shouts from the entrance to the room.

You look to see the announcer come walking in, carrying a clipboard, and followed by a member of the tournament staff, who is carrying a wooden box.

"Congratulations to all of you for making it past the preliminaries," he tells you. "You sixteen fighters will now compete with one another for the chance to be crowned the World Champion of Martial Arts. Now, you are all familiar with the rules, so let's skip to the good part. You'll be drawing numbers to determine your place in the tournament bracket. When I call your name, please step forward and take a number from the box."

He looks down at the clipboard in his hand. "First up, Jewel."

The blonde man steps forward, a smirk on his face as he reaches into the box, withdrawing a bright green ball with the number thirteen written on it.

"Alright...thirteen, that puts you in match seven," the announcer tells him. "Next up, Yamcha."

Grinning, your friend approaches the tournament official, retrieving a ball from the box. His number is five.

"Alright, match three for you," the announcer tells him. "Jackie Chun."

The former champion steps forward, reaching into the box and retrieving a ball with the number eight on it.

"Alright, match four for Jackie Chun," the announcer says. "Hmm...Chichi?"

Chichi strolls over to the box, feeling around inside of it before retrieving her number.

"Number fourteen," the announcer tells her. "That means you'll be fighting Jewel in the seventh match."

"Lucky me," Jewel comments, grinning at Chichi, who rolls her eyes in disgust.

"Okay, next up we have Tofoo," the announcer says.

You step forward, retrieving your ball and finding the number two written on it. You'll be fighting in the first match of the tournament.

"Tenshinhan," the announcer calls.

Tenshinhan is given the number three, putting him in the second match.

Lapis is put in match three against Yamcha. Shen is placed in match one, meaning that he'll be battling against you.

He doesn't seem particularly nervous. In fact, you catch him smirking when he finds out the "good" news. Either he's an idiot, or he's very confident in the results of his training. Or, maybe he's just trying to psyche you out.

Krillin is placed in match five, and Piccolo in match two against Tenshinhan. So, you'll be fighting one of two incredibly powerful fighters in the second match.

"Mr. Satan," the announcer calls.

Smirking to himself, the afroed man steps forward, retrieving a ball and being placed in match six. Spopovich, the big guy with long hair that you saw before, is placed in the same battle. Chaozu is placed against Krillin in match five, and Killa is placed against Jackie Chun in match four. That leaves Mutaito and Pintar in match eight.

"Alright, contestants, there you have it!" the announcer shouts. "The matches are as follows;

Shen versus Tofoo

Majunior vs Tenshinhan

Yamcha versus Lapis

Killa versus Jackie Chun

Krillin versus Chaozu

Mr. Satan versus Spopovich

Jewel versus Chichi

and Mutaito versus Pintar."

As he reads the names, the contestants take the opportunity to size up their opponents, with some looking eager and others looking either stoic or nervous.

"The first match will begin in fifteen minutes," the announcer tells you. "Tofoo, Shen, make sure you're both here when it's time."

"Of course," Shen tells the announcer with a wicked smile.

>B. Head outside, find Bulma and Trunks.

We already know Shen has something up his sleeve, instead of worrying about it let's just get some good luck from our family.
>>

We cannot job to shen.
That'd be shameful

You know, he's probably asking himself the same thing about you
>>
>>1115219
I know you won't let us do this because you're an asshole, but Tofoo could speedblitz him at this point, and just punt him unconscious/out of bounds.

How long till the Androids show up by the way?
>>
>>1115219
Luckily we're smarter than we were before.

RIGHT GUYS?!
>>

There's no Acid Man is this time, of course not.

There's a bit of time to kill, so you decide to go and see your family one more time before the matches get started. As the various competitors interact and prepare for the upcoming battles, you step out of the contest hall and into the stadium.

The announcer is informing the audience of the match-ups as you take to the air and head in the direction of your family, which causes a fair bit of distraction among the crowd. You hear some gasps and frantic conversation, as well as the sound of the announcer trying to get the crowd back in order, but you ignore all of those things as you find Bulma and Trunks, who scoot over to make room for you to sit beside them.

"Hey," your wife greets as you sit beside her. "How'd it go?"

>A. Fine, you're facing Shen first

"Fine," you tell her. "I'm facing Shen first."

"Shouldn't be a problem, then," Bulma says as Trunks reaches toward you.

"Yeah, but just in case, how about a kiss for luck?" you suggest.

Chuckling, Bulma leans over and plants a kiss on your cheek.

"You can have the rest if you do well out there," she tells you with a smile and a playful wink.

>End Updates

That's all for tonight, anons, I hope you had fun

Follow me @qmdralo to see when I'm running

Same deal tomorrow as tonight. I can run, but it won't start until fairly late, sometime from like 8 to possibly 10. It's up to you guys if you want me to run anyway.

As always, I will stick around for a little while
>>
>>1115296
Thanks as always for Som. Don't over-work yourself.
It's great to be back to the tournament stuff. This time we might actually win it all. I also can't wait to see what Lapis can do.
>>
>>1115296
Shen has goddamned acid, doesn't he Som? Goddamnit Som, why did you give him acid?
>>
>>1115302
You might, or you might lose in the first round. Be careful

>>1115303
>Acid

Well, I mean, depends what you mean....he might have something like acid
>>
>>1115296
Thanks for running.

Would have been interesting if Piccolo and Mutaito ended up facing each other if they were in the same brackets
>>
>>1115307
Yeah, but we'll see what happens
>>
>>1115309
King Kai ever talk to Goku while he is drifting in space?

>Spopovich
I see what you're doing SOM.
>>
>>1115387
What am I doing?
>>
>>1115390
It's too soon for Majin shenanegans. Let's just have an actually nice, uninterrupted tournament.
>>
>>1115415
Yes, it's way too early for Majin shenanigans
>>
>>1115387
Spopovich would be here though. He did more than be a henchmen you know.
>>
>>1115420
I only remember him having the energy siphon.
>>
>>1115421
It's stated that he's competed in the WMAT before and that's he lost against Hercule who went on the become world champion.
>>
>>1115423
I must have missed that.
Ooh. Random Thought...
Goku better not come back and interrupt the tournament because he is brainwashed bad now.
That would be sad...
>>
>>1115428
Didn't he do that already? Also he's still in space.
>>
>>1115430
Middle of the tournament would be the perfect time for his return just to fuck shit up by being mind controlled again.
I swear this could turn into his only real weakness.
Too open a mind is just as bad as a too closed one.
>>
>>1115433
>>1115428
Relax
>>
>>1115415
>>1115417
I wonder who's gonna replace Vegeta as the Majin cuck

Majin Piccolo? Majin Shen?
>>
>>1116294
Majin Roshi
Can you imagine a nigh immortal 90 year old man wiping the floor with anyone under SSJ3?
It would be awesome.
>>
>>1116417
Even better would be Majin Krillin.
He would be actually relavent and finally break the cycle of being the universe's punching bag.
>>
>>1116425
I've been pretty good to Krillin in this quest
>>
>>1116490
I know and I approve.
It's just I want to see Krillin be the strongest fucker here, if only for a little while.
He needs to be the one to save everyone's ass a few times before the SS train builds up steam and leaves them all behind.
>>
>>1117005
Well, he did save your asses from Slug

Dude, I actually have Friday night off and need something to distract me from the house buying process. Please, SOM, be my hero.
