this is basically a test game, to see how fast I can do pixel art stuff as people demand, and to see how demand is at the times I can run it. Might still develop into something longer, who knows.
decisions will be made for popular vote with troll stuff being ignored. sometimes rolls will be asked for.

This is your great grandfather Kodros, the great heros of your family. To him, all the men in your family are meant to pay homage, and his actions are what immortalized your name.

A hundred years ago, he slew a frightful beast on the isle that now carries his namesake.

Now, what monster was it, that your great grandfather has slain, and that inflicted such wounds on him that he perished there atop his struck down foe, to be found by his eldest son?

I'm just gonna count this as Cyclops to get things rolling. The slowness was to be expected I suppose.

Kodros struck down the Cyclopse in battle, but he succumbed to his wounds.
His eldest son - your grandfather - found him lying, crushed on the mountain side, and he erected a temple in his honour.

Which god did he dedicate this temple to?

The Cyclops was Thantios the immortal, son of Hades, the king of the underworld and father to the dead.
Thantios was thrown out of Hades by his father, whenever he was cast down there, and so Kodros had to follow him to the realm of the dead and force him over the river Styx.

Your grandfather, Polyprospos, erected a grand temple to Hades' honour to appease the brother of Zeus, and he pledged his worship, and that of his children to him, to reimburse the god for his lost son.

The eldest of his bloodline would always tend to the temple and sacrifice to that king of Hades.

You, however, aren't an eldest son. You are the second eldest son of your father, and you grew up away from the isle of Kodros, learning your own trade.

alright, gonna take these.

You're Astanos, son of Koragos, and you are a free man, you spend your time with the free arts as a true man should, and your only tool is your panoplia, the tools of war. In war you engage in the season of fire, and battle is what you are proficient in.

And some weeks back, your brother, Atys, died. The word reached you within days, Atys was dead, and the temple at Kodros was untended to. Your family honour demanded of you to take his place, and taking with you your slaves and possessions, you made your way to your new purpose, your new home: Kodros

You have never visited Kodros and have only a very vague idea of the climate and population of the isle, and as you touch down there, Atys' grieving wife and her two slaves greet you at the shore to lead you to your new home.

Your belongings consist of:

>4000 drachma in gold and coin
>A generous stockpile of wood
>your panoplia, consisting of armour, shield, spear and sword.
>6 slaves (counting those of your brother)
>The land house your brother left you. It is stocked with food to last you through till spring. It offers enough space for you, the slaves and Atys' wife as well as two more people.

So here we are now, on Kodros. You may now start your new existence on this island, commanding your slaves to work, go after your own leisure and sacrificing at the temple of Hades.
At the moment, you have slaves to construct one building at a time, which may take multiple turns depending on type and rolls, but you yourself as well as any left over slaves can perform other tasks while building is in progress.

>what do you want to do?

additional question:

>Did you come with family?
>>

>what do you want to do?
Survey the temple and inquire as to our duties as attendant.

alright, lesson learned: Don't draw everything if you're not prepared in the least. It isn't worth the wait.

You have Mentes with you, who you send into the house with one of your slaves.

You yourself go up the hillside into the temple with Trachma, your sister in law.

She explains to you that you are to pay respect to Hades in all your workings and to sacrifice to him at all social gatherings.

Additionally, every month Hades demands a sacrifice - it's quality and quantity is up to you, but sacrifice to little, and Hades will not be appeased. Sacrifice generously, and he might look upon you favourably.

She tells you that the devotion to the God of Death by your family has brought it into ill repute on the isle, and so the animals and the wine for the sacrifcies have often be bought at a high price.

Your brother had bought sheep every month from the family fortune, not producing either money nor produce, and so their own coffers had been depleted when he died - under mysterious circumstances, she adds.
>>
>>1091334
Sucks, Hades is a total bro. Besides some rebeliousnes and practically kidnapping some chick for a wifu I think.
>>
>>1091334
Well shit we better start looking for sacrifices then.
Since Astanos is a capable warrior, let's try finding some game.
Is there a suitable hunting ground around here?

In the meantime make those slaves having a farming thing going on.
>>
>>1091347
Meh, I would rather go out and buy more slaves first.
>>
>>1091349
Speaking of which.

>>1091334
Is there a market nearby?
>>
>>1091354
there are two towns somewhat close to you, Vedina and Peres. Without a horse however, it's quite a long journey to either of them, and Atys used to wait for a traveling merchant to bring his wares for that reason.

>>1091349
>>1091354
a deciding vote would be very handy here.
>>
>>1091347
I vote for this
>>
>>1091355
I guess hunting would be good, since aquireing more slaves doesn't seem very optimal at the moment
>>
>>1091334

Send the slaves to prepare a lot of land while we visit the nearby village.

Let's meet the people and look for a sacrifice, the land will be used later to produce grapes for wine

and even then he had Zeus' permission to take Persephone as his wife, and the only one who complained was Demeter.

you tell some of your slaves to start plowing a field, while you yourself go out to find game, exploring the forest to your north east. The forest is arid and light, but you can see that it becomes more lush the deeper you head into it.

Could somebody roll for me 2d100, one for your hunting effort, one to see how well your slaves adapt to agriculture.

>>1091368
alright. So your slaves start preparing a lot and they plant some rye from your stockpiles, and even though that was meant to be ground up to flour, the seeds are a promising start for a future harvest.

You go out hunting, taking Mentes with you to watch and learn, and sure enough, not far away from the villa, a lone stag is encountered.
Mentes watches with bated breath as you sneak up and throw your javelin, wounding the animal mortally, it's blood staining the dry grass.

You bring the magnificent beast back home, where the field is being worked.

>what will you do for week 2?

alternatively, if you still want to do something else in week 1, write in.
>>
>>1091386
Still in week one, use the meat for dinner one night for the slaves. As a show of appreciation for hard work.

Other wise have the slaves pen up the fields so animals can't fuck it up while we make a pen for a pasture
>>
>>1091386

do we know how to preserve meet?

because if we do I suggest we keep hunting on week one to balance our food stock sinse we used the seeds.

week 2:

if the field is ready we should start to build a pen for animals we plan to buy from the merchant.
>>
>>1091386
okay so we have to kinda preserve the stag right? at least, it has to stay good for 3 other weeks. we could smoke it, but we need a smokehouse for that. or just salt it.

we could also bring the stag (or parts of it) to the closest town to sell it and buy a better offer with the money. but this has to be done in week 2..
>>
>>1091391
things as small as this can be done (one at a time) next to building projects.

So just for future reference, building a fence doesn't have to take halt production of building a house.

>do we know how to preserve meat?
you've got a cold cellar and salt. So yes, you do know, but salt is a finite resource.
>>
>>1091391

this! we good master, we don't want the slaves to rape our sister-in-law and burn the temple while we visit a city
>>
>>1091397
yeah okay seems reasonable, we should keep the fur and stuff.
>>
>>1091396
So can we fashion a rack to tan the hide as well?
>>
>>1091401
that'd be a project for week 2. So yeah, sure.
>>
>>1091403
You should put a name on dude. While not explicitly necessary, it helps keep you from the crowd.
>>
>>1091403
So we can fence off the field for free, so building the pasture and making the tanning rack would be week 2 projects, is that right?

>>1091407
Also this, make a trip if you don't have a consistent IP
>>

than we could better make a small smokehouse, which we can also use for fish in the future.

You cut up the stag, and use some of it for a great dinner after your hunt. The rest you put in salt for now (or do you want to smoke it? That would degrade it's value as a sacrifice).

Over the next week, your slaves, invigorated by your show of gratitude, build a stone fence around your field and begin the construction of an animal pen. ( no roll required).

Your food reserves are still plentiful, but you evidently realize that they will need to be supplemented.

>what will you do for week 3?

alternatively, if you still want to do something else in week 2, write in.

>>1091411
no, fencing off the field isn't free, it's a small project. That means you can still have a big (or small) one running next to it. You just can't have two big ones at a time.
>>
>>1091413
A tanning rack is for tanning. Smokehouse would be good for good preservation, but we don't really need that right now.

>>1091415
Gotcha
>>
>>1091415

Locate a clay put maybe? I dunno.
>>
>>1091423
>put
Pit
>>
>>1091423
If we want to find clay we should look for small lakes and slow flowing rivers..

what do we know about the king rulling kodros?
>>
>>1091431
>what do we know about the king rulling kodros?
Kodros does not have a king. It was once a holding of Crete, but their influence has receded from it. As such, Kodros has quite some inner tensions, with small cities governing themselves and the towns around them.

Other than this general outline, you know little of Kodros, and neither can you get much more of your sister in law or the slaves that used to be here. It seems like they lived like hermits, only Atys visiting towns from time to time.
>>
>>1091431
I think finishing the pen and getting some goats is good for now.
>>
>>1091443
I see... I guess some fortifications could be handy in this situation.

but for now this seems like a good option..

if this'll be the only votes, someone do me a 1d100 for goat searching. (best out of first 2)

This is quite specific, and you don't have anything working in your favour particularely, so this roll's gonna be somewhat difficult.

Since the fence is done, and the pen is a small building, you can also start another project this week.

ho boy.

You just go down south at a whim, wondering if you might find goats there. You walk the dry grass, up a small hill, and there you, after not an hour's walk, find exactly what you're looking for! Goats, three of them, grazing.

They have no collars, they don't seem to belong to anybody, as there is no shepard.

Instead, sitting in the grass, plucking on a lyre, there sits a satyr.
A daemon of Dionysos.
The creature grins at you as you become aware of it.

why do I keep drawing these?
The goat man laughs a bleatish laugh.

>"Naught is under my dominion, friend, and no one has dominion over me. I elected these beasts as a most thankful audience for my lyre play."
He looks at you, his face shifts from amused to curious.
>"Though I do not know you. And you wish to take my audience?"
You quickly explain that you are Atys' brother, and what your purpose is on the island. you add:
>"I killed a buck in the woods last week. If it was under your protection, I apologize."
Again the Satyr laughs.
>"No dominion, my friend, and no protection. Though my love, Ekleria, might think differently.."
With that name his gaze trails off, and he begins to solomly play the lyre, singing in a tongue you do not understand.

One of them you carry up the hill to the statue of Hades on his throne before which a hugnry flame always roars.

And there into, slashing its throat, you cast the goat. It goes up in flames while you, Atys' wife, Mentes, and in some distance, the slaves all look on in reverence. The body is consumed by the flames like parchment, and soon nothing is left of it - not even ashes.
