Stage 147: Riding the Tiger.

You have a problem.

This isn't one of those problems that others create for you, or that happens sometimes in life as it goes along. No, you have this problem because you have a bad habit. And this peculiar habit is 'not leaving well enough alone'. So, here you are, creating problems for yourself.

You understanding, logically that Rie's state isn't your fault. She chose to take on the responsibility for assisting the abomination that was Melinda Blitzenberg on her own, and you really didn't have much choice but to let her do it. The fact that she was used by the demons Hui Daji and Fyusumi to assault Rie and somehow curse her into losing her youkai nature was unexpected, and you would have thought impossible.

The thing is, you're not one to just idly sit around and let bad things happen to people – or, technically, things – who go out of their way to help you, especially at risk and cost to themselves. So if there is an inkling, a chance, a way to return her to her...uh, unnatural state, then by the Kami, you'll do it.

Rie is currently holding you gently, warm and soft. Her tails wave slowly back and forth, and she hums softly, sighing as she carefully lets go of you. Not even a purr anymore. You smile at her and make the tears that stain your cheeks vanish, studying the albino girl with cat's ears and twin tails. Not the hairstyle either.

The cat youkai she placed into your possession long ago shift and move in your aura, reacting to her as though she were merely another human, far more interested in your sorceress Er Yin, dressed in pure white ropes, tabi and even gloves to maintain her purity. Unsurprising, cats have a long tradition of wanting to play with things they shouldn't have. Case in point: Ryiekatsumoun, once a God's Eye Nekomata, now barely a spirit-child.

Kiki-hime smiles and moves over to speak with Rie, while you turn your attention to the person whose bed Rie is sitting on, Inau-kun. She stirs slowly, sleeping very fitfully. Caught in an explosion of supernatural power when a demon shattered a divine weapon on your arm (and nearly your arm, which is healing slowly and hurts like the Hell of Knives is stuck on your left shoulder) she has been tended as best as could be managed by your healers and your priestess. You do have a trick up your sleeve....one granted by Rie herself. You've only used it once before, and that was on an injury you caused.

But it might work, and that is good enough for you.

Er Yin looks straight ahead, her eyes unseeing....but they shine, pupils glimmering silver fire as she looks past the physical world and uses her Void eyes to see the much more real world of magic and power.

[] Tend to Inau-kun first, though it might hurt a bit.
[] Ask Er Yin if there is any way to change Rie back or undo the curse.
[] Have Er Yin tend to your wound so you don't suffer when you tend to the others.
[] Just watch Rie and Kiki-hime for a moment – there was something strange between them before.
[] Ask Er Yin to contact the oni-child Emi, and see if she will be willing to help you.

Though you are curious as to what Er Yin-sensei might think could be done to help the no-longer spooky nekomata-child, you acutely recall how Rie tried to make overtures towards your wife. Not sexual ones, but clear bribery of some sort. You sincerely hope that Rie cannot access nowhere as she had before, because she has a very powerful bakeneko trapped in a handkerchief somewhere, and accidentally releasing it would be a disaster.

“Hello, Rie-sama. Do you remember me?” Your wife is smiling gently at the heavily bandaged girl.

“You're 'Kusa's mate,” Rie replies with no hesitation at all. Of course she is perfectly serious; that just makes it all the more hilarious.

Kiki-hime's blood rushes to her cheeks, and you have to stifle a small laugh at Rie's straightforward reply. “Yes, I am. You can call me Kiki-chan, if you like. I hope that you will be comfortable here.”

Despite the good intentions Kiki-hime has, Rie frowns and her ears lower, her tails twitching in uncertainty. “You didn't want the treasure I offered you....” You tense, and Er Yin glances at you, seeing your Chi and Shen suffuse your body, negating the last of the spell she placed on you to ease your pain and disrupt your balance and sense of location. The pain is atrocious but you might have to move in a hurry.

Kiki-hime leans forward with a smile and strokes Rie's long white hair gently and softly. “You helped my mate and her friend when they were in trouble, Rie-sama, and you warned us about dangers. Those are much better treasures and much more valuable.” Rie looks up at Kiki-hime uncertainly, and Kiki-hime smile, and nods once. “You are welcome here, as long as you need. Even my older sister will be happy to have you here.”

Rie nods slowly, still looking down. “'M'kay.” She settles on the futon next to Inau-kun's legs and closes her eyes, her tails twitching slightly as she seems to fall into an immediate and deep sleep.

Kiki-hime turns back to you and Er Yin, smiling triumphantly; the smile fades instantly as you relax and cradle your injured left arm, eyes narrowed in pain. Your wife quickly moves to your side but doesn't reach for you or touch you, though you glance at her to make sure she won't. Er Yin's tail lashes slowly, and her frown is fairly intense, even if it is not quite directed at you.

“A spell like that is not easily made, much less broken, Ryukusa-sama. You need to be more gentle with your body.” She rises and steps around you, then crouches in front of you, and holds out her hands.

“Not yet, Er Yin-sensei. I need to take care of Inau-kun first. Just....just bandage it please. You and Yui-niji-chan can apply what healing you can when I have finished.”

Kiki-hime looks at Er Yin worriedly, but Er Yin simply sighs. “As you wish, Master,” she murmurs softly, pulling out thick linens from Nowhere. She too feels the stickiness, the difficulty. “We will have to take time to stockpile any supplies and weapons we require soon, Ryukusa-sama.” You place you arm before you and take a deep breath, controlling the pain as best you can without using any power except to minimize any bleeding. Your blood is pretty poisonous, especially when it comes from your left arm.

“What is causing that, Ryukusa-sama?” Kiki-hime asks in an effort to help keep your mind off of what is about to happen.

“Our fortunes rise and fall with those of Japan. I suspect the Diet and the Committees are in shock after the death of foreign soldiers, along with Oba-san and the Hojo Group manipulating policies and moving their own wealth around. The incidents at the church might have done it too.” You grit your teeth and exhale slowly through your nose as Er Yin begins changing your bandages. “The economy is starting to suffer, and there will soon be a great deal of panic among the powerful as Oba-san convinces them a great disaster is looming.”

Er Yin looks concerned, though her surprisingly gentle talons work carefully and slowly over your arm. It hurts, it hurts a lot, but you can survive broken glass and shards of burning ice. “Why would she attempt to do such a thing? That makes very little sense.”

Your voice is steady and calm, yay! “It makes perfect sense if you are attempting to make a change in the government to recognize you as a new and powerful religious leader to supplant the emperor. More accessible, with amazing powers of fortunetelling, and best of all, able to give you things that make your life comfortable and rich.” You relax as Er Yin-sensei slowly pulls away, your arm freshly bandaged and tightly enough that you can even move it a little without utter agony. “She's been planning this a long time. I think....I suspect her endgame is true religious authority.”

“But she's not a kami! And to try and supplant the emperor, that's....that's....” kiki-hime is aghast at the thought.

“I think it's only treason. The kami don't especially care of you try to join them, so it's not like, heresy or anything.” You glance at Er yin, and take a deep breath. “Is there any way to restore to Rie what she's lost? I mean....I have her cat youkai, and Yuuhi-chan and I can gather Shen and Chi for her....”

Er Yin turns to 'look' at you, and murmurs softly. “Ryukusa-sama.” Her gentle rebuke is painful.

[] Press for it – she should know you better than that.
[] Don't press; take care of Inau-kun.
[] Make a case for your desire and need.
[] Rie helped your family for just takoyaki; you owe her more than that.
[] Ask her point blank if she knows of a way or not – you can argue more later.

Also Oba-chan's plan doesn't seem too bad overall, but is it really far enough along that Japan would recognize her as such an authority within a reasonable timeframe. Inertia is a powerful thing, both in traditions and just in general. I suppose she might just cheat and skip that part somehow though.
>>
>>1088390
You forget - Oba-san has been in power for a very long time - over 200 years, just by Kiku-chan's statements. She has had lots of time to work on this project.
>>
>>1088413
It's not like she's been a public figure that long, her presence in the minds of the populace can't reflect the rest of the depth of her schemes. Behind the scenes is of course a different matter, however.
>>
>>1088416
This is exactly what I'm wondering - if the general public already revered her we should know of it shouldn't we? If they don't, it seems like she still has a good way to go.
>>
>>1088424
Well if she wants to be a significant public presence, getting the support of other powers that be could prop her up more effectively. There's a difference between, say, a person claiming they're a saint, and the pope and president and all the talking heads on tv making the case for them.
>>
>>1088429
Oh for sure, but even in Japan people are gonna balk at authorities telling them 'hey you should pray to this lady now'. Hell, especially in Japan, given how strong traditions are over there. Even if they don't protest it or anything that doesn't mean they'd actually see her that way.
>>
>>1088440
Well of course it'd be more subtle than that. Or subversive, or something.

Tradition doesn't tend to hold up well in the face of apocalypse, anyway. It could be that when a steadfast way of thinking is shattered it's far easier to rearrange things to your liking as they're desperate for things to make sense again.

[XX] Rie helped your family for just takoyaki; you owe her more than that.
[x] Ask her point blank if she knows of a way or not – you can argue more later.
[x] Don't press; take care of Inau-kun.

“I know that youkai receive more strength from offerings than kami do, because they don't get them very often....but a few prayers and some takoyaki seems like a very small offering for someone who risked her life and paid for it with her existence, Er Yin-sensei.” Er Yin-sensei doesn't look abashed, but her expression softens a bit. “What kind of person who can change fate and fortune would I be if I didn't do for her what she did for me? Something happened in Yomi, something important, and it would be very poor manners not to respect that, even if she hadn't been our guardian house spirit. Whatever she did changed something important, Er Yin. I don't know what it was exactly, but if she hadn't, I know nothing good would have come from it.”

That seems to make her hesitate, her expression concerned. To your surprise Kiki-hime speaks up as well.

“Rie-sama tried to give me the bakeneko that cursed my sister, Er Yin-sensei. She was trying really hard to make friends with me, even though it was in a strange way.” She smiles shyly and looks down, though her eyes slip sideways to you as she strokes Rie's hair. “I've been shown that even strange things can be beautiful when you realize what the truly mean.” Rie's tails slide around and stroke Kiki-hime's wrist lightly in her sleep.

You're not quite certain why you're blushing....no, you know exactly why you're blushing.

Er Yin sighs softly and starts to speak, but you beat her to it. “As my sorceress and one of my seers, you know there is a way to fix this, don't you?” She frowns faintly, and you can see it in her expression, the set of her shoulders. “Please think on this matter Er Yin-sensei. If you tell me it is too dangerous or that it should not be done, I will accept those things. Right now, I have to take care of Inau-kun....” You bow to her; kowtowing is still out of the question, though you're not entirely sure why you feel that way even when asking for the impossible.

You rise and walk over to Inau-kun, where her head rests on the pillow. Even asleep, her eyes are moving rapidly back and forth. Not the natural movements of dreaming sleep, but unnatural movements of vertigo, induced by her shattered eardrum and the concussion she's suffered. The concussion you can't do much about, but you might be able to correct the injury to her ear. It will just be a little strange to see.

Brushing her pale hair to the side, you are gratified to see her waken, and the movement of her eyes slow as she tries to act against the vertigo. “Ryukusa....” she murmurs softly and you smile down at her.

[XX] Compliment her on her skills in that battle.
[XX] Explain that you're going to use healing techniques you learned from a cat.
[X] Tell her about Shoko being upset by her injuries.

Inau-kun starts to rise and you gently lay your hand on her shoulder, and she settles down. “I'll help you up in a moment. I have a technique that can help you, though it's a little strange. Might not do much for the concussion, but your ear will be healed and you won't be dizzy.”

She smiles a little, embarrassed. “I really messed up in that last battle, didn't I Ryukusa-sama.”

“Don't be ridiculous. No one expected that, not even the person who caused it. You did exactly what I needed, when I needed it done, even when you acted on your own. You may have started off as a huntress, Tokei Isusangi, but you are a warrior of Clan Ryuu, now and forever.” With a smile you lean down and kiss her forehead, and she blushes deeply. When you sit back up, you are sweating a bit, and you are definitely going to need some of Er Yin's potion to get to sleep after all this.

Inau-kun can see that too, and her concern is touching. Before she can say anything, you shake your head. “Careful not to disturb Rie-sama....we just got her back to sleep. She's still injured too.” You fold the blankets back, using both hands despite the agony it causes, and then help Inau-kun to sit up, using just your right hand. Kiki-hime continues to pet Rie and keep her asleep or distracted, while Er Yin does come and help you help Inau-kun up.

The expression on the Ainu huntresses face is a little sickly, and what she says doesn't need translation. You partly undo your robe, exposing some very nice cleavage to distract her, and Kiki-hime tilts her head, bemused. “Ah....why are you doing that, aniki? I'm not in any condition to appreciate it, really....”

“Nonsense, you're enjoying the view very nicely. Besides, I learned the technique from Rie-sama.” You slide your left arm about her back, caressing the linens wrapped about her abdomen to keep her bruised ribs from moving, ignoring the agonizing pain the effort costs you. You have other things to concentrate on, and your right hand moves up, covering her exposed left breast gently as you lean in towards her right side.

Inau-kun's eyes widen and she looks confused. “The nekomata? But that means...” Kiki-hime;s eyes wide as well and she covers her lips with one delicate hand before she giggles. Inau-kun blushes hot as you embrace her and move to kiss her.

“Uh huh,” you agree as you kiss her softly, deeply, on the mouth. She moans softly, as you hold her steady, warmly embracing the midwife to your family, the huntress who leads you to your enemies, and the warrior who stood at the side of Horobi in spite of injury and terror. She makes a small, startled noise as you kiss her thoroughly, and her eyes close when you give her your tongue to taste.
>>
>>1088568
OH SHIT THEY MADE THAT INTO AN ANIME?
>>
>>1088642
All that is foreplay, of course, something to make the real healing less invasive, though no less intimate.

Not that you mind. She's terribly inexperienced and she squirms a lot, but she still accepts the kiss and your touch openly despite that. When you break the kiss she gasps, pants softly. Kiki-hime's eyes are wide and she is smiling broadly as you kiss your way down her jawline, and then draw your tongue up along her softly throbbing jugular vein. Er Yin is chuckling softly at the lovely noises that the injured girl makes, half swooning in your arms and tail as she is; your tail, because you've made her weak enough that she can't really support herself, especially with her balance shot.

You kiss the edge of her ear lightly, then lick it slowly...then you gently move your tongue to her delicate inner ears, the sensitive, untouched curlicues and folds. She whimpers softly when you lightly play with her ear using the tip of your tongue, and then stiffens as you gently force it deeper, penetrating....caressing softly and carefully, tasting flecks of blood, dried and fresh alike. nau-kun gasps and presses into you, her small, firm breast heaving under your hand, the other, partly wrapped, pushing against your own.

She gasps and shudders as you delicately tease and caress, feeling the injuries fading under the ability taught to you by a God's Eye nekomata. You can feel her body shudder in a specific, intimate way, and you slowly pull back, gently helping her to lay back down with Er Yin's help, her flushed body hot under your hands.

“Really, Inau-kun, going from so little? You and Shoko-san are going to be the most awkward couple in all Japanese history, I swear....” Your gentle teasing is well meant, and she blinks up at you, her eyes wide and no longer jerking spasmodically. “She was very upset about your injuries, nearly jumped down Kei-san's throat. She'll be glad when you are better.”

“We will be too,” murmurs your wife, looking more than a little flushed herself.

Inau-kun, still blushing, murmurs a soft thank you, and squirms as you caress her hair one last time.

“Speaking of better, you must drink this.” Er Yin presses a thick ceramic mug into your hands, and you grimace. Your sister's concoctions are good for you, but they taste worse than any bitter tea. You take the cup in your right hand and drain it, the throbbing agony in your arm made of glass blades and rusty saws. “I will consider your request, Ryukusa-sama.” She holds up a hand as you take breath to speak, the awful taste still in your mouth. This is something that cannot be considered lightly, even for you. You cannot ask this of me easily. My powers are yours to command, but this is beyond mine alone.”

[] All right.
[] ….is it that dangerous, Er Yin?

[XX] ….is it that dangerous, Er Yin?
[XX] Should I speak to my sister or Fuuta-chan?
[X] All right.

You frown mildly as Kiki-hime returns to petting the sleeping nekomata-child. “That sounds like it is extremely dangerous, Er Yin-sensei. Nevertheless....” She nods, though her eyes are dark and no longer seeing anything. “Take no unnecessary risks. That's kind of my jo-Ow!” Rubbing your head where Kiki-hime has bopped you with a bokken she apparently grew from a splinter of wood, you glance at her apologetically. “Gomen, gomen.”

“Hmph.”

“Be that as it may....shall I speak to my sister, or perhaps Fuuta-chan? They're more well versed in spiritualist matters than I am....”

Er Yin shakes her head. “If it comes to that, Hougyoku-chan and I will speak to them. It may not be necessary. Kiku-chan may know more than-”

A knock at the door interrupts and before either of you can say anything and excited Yui-chan sticks her head in. “There is someone to see you at the front door, aniki!” You blink. “It's a friend of mine, Ri-sama!”

“Ri-sa....oh.” Ms. Nine, or most likely, Kyubi-sama. “If it is all right to l;eave these two resting, I think you both should meet her.”

“I can keep Rie-sama company, aniki. Please don't worry about me further – I'll be fine now.” You bow your head to Inau-kun gratefully. “And thank you, for taking care of me,” she says, blushing as she says so. Yui-chan makes an 'ooohhh' sound and Kiki-hime hushes her with a smile as Er Yin rises. She giggles and darts away as the three of you bow and take your leave, closing the sacred boundaries behind you.

The living room is a surprisingly quiet place, filled with strange tensions and pleasant feelings in odd mixture. Yuuhi-chan is sitting off to one side of the door, her nodachi held loosely. She is sitting seiza and is unusually attentive and stiff, though her tail shifts lazily back and forth. Shoko-san is leaning against the breakfast nook counter, looking somewhat bemused by the visitor, while Kei-san and Fuuta-chan are both looking mildly shocked. Yui-chan is in the living room in a rush, speaking rapidly in a somewhat unusual dialect of Japanese, while your sister is preparing tea, perhaps a little shocked by your visitor. Kiku-chan, of course is kowtowing nearby, while Akari stands behind your visitor, next to the door. Er Yin manages a placid expression worthy of the one Akari-chan is wearing, while your wife's expression lights up.

“Shiroi-san!” You blink and look at your wife with surprise. “Ryukusa-sama, this is Tate Shiroi, my personal driver!” You turn your dragon's eyes to look at Kyubi-san, who is evidencing only a single tail, though she is dressed impeccably in her pant-suit and has her fox-mask in one hand. The other is behind her back, of course, where Akari can see it.

Kiki-hime goes to greet what is apparently an old friend, which yui-chan is even happier about. Your priestess sits up and glances at you, while er Yin remains silent about the matter, as well as the nature of your visitor. Akari is as calm and quiet as ever, which means she's only about three stages away from murder. Your sister, confused as she is, doesn't seem to think anything is amiss; nor does Shoko. A kitsune is a surprise to the others, of course....except Yuuhi-chan, who is as on edge as you have ever seen her, except where the bomb was concerned.

“It is a pleasure to meet you, Ryukusa-sama. I am here to collect the package that you wish returned. Definitely her voice, and a Glimpse of fire Eyes shows you the other tails through the illusions.

[X] Go and reassure your nogitsune-chan.
[X] Have Akari and Yuuhi stand down first, then greet her.
[XX] Greet her by the name you know her – she apparently has a few.

You gesture in sharp, quick movements, letting Akari-niji-chan know this person is not a threat in any way. She relaxes and her smile appears, delicate and relaxed as she slips past Kyubi-sama to gently restrain her excited lover. Yuuhi notices the movements, and you know she has been taught their meaning, but she remains on edge despite that, her eyes half closed, crimson in the midst of her pale face. Her tail continues to slowly wave back and forth as well. Kyubi-sama seems to take no notice of your unspoken orders.

“Kyubi-sama, it is a pleasure to see you again, though I actually thought you'd be here sooner.”

“Eh!?” “Oh! Aniki!” Kiki-hime's surprise is as amusing as Yui's enthusiasm at you knowing someone she clearly adores as a friend; even more amusing are Kiku-chan and Er Yin-sensei's surprise. Akari, of course, is not surprised, only interested in the varied reactions of your family.

“Ah, we're recent acquaintances, it's true, but I should have realized she was such a popular person among my family.” It is very true, and Kyubi-sama's faint smile shows that she appreciates your care with her nature. “One moment and I will have the package. Please make yourself at home.” You gesture to a seat, and she bows to you, rather deeply.

Kiki-hime quickly ropes her into introductions and conversation, managing with some skill to make Kei-san and Fuuta-chan equally part of the conversation. Yui-chan reveals that she was a frequent – relatively speaking – visitor to the Heavens of Kuroukami, while whenever Kiki-hime was doing shows or photo-shoots, she was the driver assigned to her. Naturally Kiku-chan and Er Yin know her for other reasons, ones they do not divulge publicly.

You walk over to Yuuhi, and run your fingers through her hair softly. “Thank you for your assistance with Inau-kun. You'll be happy to know she's doing well now, and is mostly healed.” Yuuhi-chan glances up at you, her expression still serious, and she gives you a surprisingly short nod, but then turns her attention to the floor, despite your petting. Her tail does flick over to slide along your ankle in a warm caress though. You nod, acknowledging her turmoil, and leave her be for the moment, though you keep a weather-eye on her.

As you walk over to the back of the room near Shoko, who steps away from the counter and leans over the couch near your wife as Shoko serves tea (giving you space to work and acting as guardian, bless her big green heart) you spare a though to your family's reactions.

You have the sneaking suspicion that Nikne Kamuy, the God of Oni, served Akari-chan in much the same way as Kyubi-sama served the others – a secret lifeline, a confidant to assist them in holding out until you showed up or were killed. In fact, you would be willing to lay a bet or two that it was Kyubi-sama who suggested or even gave the Jade Mask to your sister to give to Akari. You tug your robes more tightly around your body and take a few deep breaths, then reach into Nowhere with both hands, the stickiness and turmoil worse than last time.

The darkness divulges the black and crimson box that contains the Ruyi of Ame-no-Horobi-no-Mikado, and you shiver, the pain in your left arm still intense. Yuuhi gently takes the box from your hands, looking at you with concern as you shiver with the wave of pain that rolls through your arm and into your body.

“Aniki, I should have noticed sorry, please forgive me....” she murmurs softly, looking up at you with those crimson eyes of hers.

[XXX] Is there something wrong here, Yuuhi-chan, something you need help with?
[XX] Forgiven for what?
[X] Nonsense, I usually hide it better than this.
[+] You're forgiven, though I'm not quite sure what for – Kyubi chan maybe?
[+] Kisses, and remind her that her presence will heal us.

“What for, Yuuhi-chan? Normally I hide it better than this, is all. And you seem to have a little stress of your own, so it's understandable. That is, if you're actually apologizing for being attentive to the stranger in the house, which you should never apologize for. Justbecause everyone seems to know her, doesn't mean we actually know what she is up to.” She blinks at the rush of things you say to her. “Ah, sorry; my sister's medicines do that sometimes.”

You lean over and kiss her, tilting her head up with your good hand. You also notice Shoko placing herself between you and Kyubi-san slightly, with not much effort. It wouldn't matter, but she doesn't know that.

Yuuhi-chan relaxes, melting into the kiss. “Besides, I am with my family. A little pain is nothing. I will heal, more quickly for all your love and affection.” She nods, her crimson eyes looking up at you earnestly. You gaze at her seriously and speak very, very quietly. “Hey, is there something wrong? Do you need help or is there an issue you have with her? Because, if there is, you need to tell me, so I can help, Yuuchi.”

“You can't, Ryukusa. Not with this.” clearly you look unconvinced because she looks into your eyes and pulls her head back a little, lifting her palm before her breasts sideways in Buddhist apology. “Sorry, aniki, it's a family matter.”

“Like Peta's?” Her eyes widen. “I have the best researcher in the Ryo clan as well as the foremost hand-to-hand combatant, along with three religious experts. I knew about her parentage inside of three days.”

Her tail lashes unhappily, and she would probably wring her hands if they weren't holding a box. Before she starts on one of her upset diatribes you gently place your finger over her lips, which causes her to look up at you. “It's okay, Yuuchi. It's really okay.”

That seems to reassure her and she takes a deep breath as you lower your hand. She straightens up and nods solemnly and you nod back, just as solemnly.

Extra chairs have been brought out and tea of various sorts has been served – and one of those damned ceramic mugs with bitter herbals as well, just for you – and everyone seems relaxed and calm. Yuuhi-chan follows behind you as you walk around to where Kyubi-sama sits. She rises, looking down at you calmly. “Thank you for your patience. Here is the package, with the original documents and items, and my letter of thanks and the note about the invitation.”

“Invitation?” She asks curiously as she accepts the box from Yuuhi-chan with a low bow. Yuuhi-chan bows back as well, though she has to force herself to close her eyes. Akari notices as well and you wave it off with a suggestion to ask Yuuhi-chan later if she wouldn't mind.

“Oh yes. Apparently his great great great grand-niece's marriage has some interest for him. I appreciate your help to – thank you, Kyubi-sama.” She turns and bows to you again, and you bow, though not as deeply. It doesn't feel right to do so, which is not really surprising. Yuuhi-chan has relaxed a little, which is a relief.

“You are truly welcome, and you have my thanks, and the thanks of my mistress, for all you do.”

The thing that confuses me is that if Rie was originally a youkai, does that mean that transforming back would be... cleaner? Or would her soul/mind still collapse into a sea of traits, that would inform her nature to be that of how she was?
>>
>>1089211
From what I understand, she gets to keep a better understanding of what being a human is like, but first she needs to learn to be mostly human.
>>
>>1089211
As Ryukusa understands it, she will have taint from being human, giving her some basis for independant thought and an understandignnof things youkai would not normally have - such as what destruction/death is, human reactions such as fear and pain are, and what it means to have kindness done for you.

Recall how she reacted when Ryukusa told her that she offered prayers because she said she would. If she were to become youkai, she would have a basis for understanding the idea of keeping one's word.

[] Please consider yourself welcome in our home, wherever that may be.
[] Will you stay for dinner?

Does the choice to ask about our 'injured kitten' mean asking advice? I'm confused.

>>1089267
Rie has a number of choices ahead of her, so going back to being Youkai isn't necessarily what might happen. Rie could also become a Kami or stay human.
>>
[X] I appreciate hearing that from you.
[XX] Please consider yourself welcome in our home, wherever that may be.
[XXX] Actually, I have one request....I have an injured kitten.
[+] I mean, of course, to ask for advice, rather than bypassing Er Yin's assistance!

The idea of her having a mistress doesn't really surprise anyone; in fact, most people think of it as being Kiki-hime, which isn't a surprise. The few of you who do know aren't talking of course. “Your kind words mean a great deal to me. I hope to thank your mistress personally and thoroughly when I have the opportunity.” Kiku-chan's hair explodes and Er Yin about chokes on her tea, while Kiki-hime blushes to put the sun to shame, leaving several others in giggles and laughing softly.

Placing the crimson and black box Nowhere, Kyubi-chan smiles slightly and you gesture for her to take her seat. She glances at Yui-chan and then to you and you nod. She sits, still smiling slightly. “I would enjoy it if you consider yourself at home with my family, Kyubi-san.” Yui-chan's eyes light up and Yuuhi-chan's ears perk up as you gently guide her to sit next to you on the couch, before you settle down next to Kiki-hime who seems pleased that you get along with her 'driver' so well. “You may not be able to visit as often as we might like you to, but please feel welcome at any and all times.” The fact that she cannot visit often seems to reassure Yuuhi-chan.

The expression in her eyes does not match that upon her face, though she answers politely enough. “Your kindness is appreciated, Ryukusa-sama. I would enjoy nothing more than to be welcome among your family.” It isn't quite suspicion, but perhaps confusion, or even a lack of surety. “I have missed Yui, who kept me company often while awaiting audiences.” Yui grins winningly. “Being Kiki-hime's chauffeur was also a joy. She is a very bright young woman.” Your wife smile and touches your thigh lightly.

Your sister pours tea for everyone around you, but merely moves the herbal tonic before you. You sigh, and excuse yourself before drinking the remedy down quickly, much to the amusement of just about everyone. Yuuhi-chan, however, only has wary eyes for Kyubi-sama.

Running your tail up and down your samurai's back slowly, you cradle your left arm, which Kyubi takes note of, though she says nothing. The button she gave you could undoubtedly cure you entirely, but you have hopes that it may be useful in another way. “Kyubi-sama....perhaps you could assist me with something.” Yuuhi relaxes and closes her eyes as you pet her, and everyone else is now curious. As is Kyubi-sama, fortunately.

“Perhaps you could tell me if you have any idea how to heal injured kittens....” Her eyes widen ever so slightly, and the afterimage of several of her tails flickers through your unnatural vision.

Kyubi-sama slipped ryukusa a button while she was in hell. Using it would restore the entirety of ryukusa's very high volume of Shen. Ryukusa hasn't used it yet - she's hoping it might be used to help one of her friends. however, the potency is such that only an immortal can handle the surge of spiritual life force that comes with it. It would probably kill most humans and spirit children.

I have one question: is Yuuhi's worry linked to the "treat nogitsune like kitsune" comment she once made?
>>
>>1089436

Because she's now in presencee of a full-kitsune
>>
Thanks for writing
>>
>>1089433
I see. Then, if we simply restore our own shen, will that give us a better option for restoring anothers? I'm away we can transfer energy of some sort but I'm unclear on the details.
>>
>>1089436
It has a relation to that, but not an exact one.

Yako or nogitsune are kitsune who specifically rejected the beneficence of Inari. White kitsune (also clalled inari, for the sake of greater confusion) accepted her as their goddess. Kyubi-sama, being an enlightened kitsune as she is and a direct servant of Inari, would be troubling to any nogitsune-child. But since Yuuhi is an enlightened immortal, there might be something else at play.
>>

Chi, yes. Shen requires special preparation for transference, which Yuuhi-chan would have to help with in the most intimate of manners. As injured as Ryukusa is now, there would be very little left over if she used the button on herself unless she used techniques Yuuhi has to contain and distribute it. Unfortunately, mere Shen might not be enough - it might just make her more of a spirit-child instead of restoring Rie's youkai nature.

Hence the asking for advice, obviously.

So, little chance from Yuuhi to do body worship with our Inari-linked wives?

Though she might like to do this to/have this done to her by Ruykusa

Yako and kitsune =/= spirit-children, anon. there might be prejudice, but that doesn't mean there's an actual correlation. Now, Kyubi-sama IS an actual kitsune, and an extraordinarily powerful one at that, which is something to keep in mind.

Again, thank you for your reading and playing, and with that, good night. I'll check the thread periodically for questions, as always.

It's random as near as anyone can tell, although Year, Month, Day, and Hour of Conception seems to be very good indicators of the resulting child. Only in cases of Pearl manipulation (such as Ryukusa and Kiki timing their climaxes and being Water father and Wood mother) can any certainty be assured of the type of child. The fact that Ryukuza has a lot of jing also has much to do with the children in question; her status as a demigod might have influence as well (fire being destructive as it is).
>>
>>1091390
...We're not going to have any stone children, are we?
>>
>>1091393
Afraid not the first time around with your close harem. Dice decreed it.
>>
>>1091398
But more to the point, stone children are the least likely of our offspring? I assume this because it's our least ascendant element.
>>
>>1091402
Not really - it is pretty random. As in I literally rolled dice for it, except Kiki's daughter.
>>
>>1091420
Ah, thought you might have complicated it a bit more than that, given your explanation of the randomness.

In any case, I suppose that would be the least of the consequences for neglecting to train stone. Not that I'm sure what the others are.
>>
>>1091461

We haven't neglected to train Stone. It's just that Ryukusa isn't very Stone, and Stone isn't very Ryukusa.
>>
>>1091372
Thanks, never really drew anime style back then but been doing it a bit more recently.
>>
>>1091503
If I remember correctly, back when we were debating what to do with our blood sisters problem the unlisted stone path would have had the second best results next to using our wish, and attuned us further with the element. What would have changed had we gone that route?
>>
>>1093532
Several things, most likely. You would have less healing, more damage resistance, possibly the ability to manipulate stone in some way, it would have been less a threat to you than it is now given your own elemental affinities, and made you physically stronger.

On the other hand it also would have left you more vulnerable to wood, possibly slowed your rapid fire thought process and your physical movements, and might have tempered your emotions somewhat.
>>
>>1094685
Hmm. More well rounded, but weaker on our strengths. It's probably for the best the way it went.
>>
>>1089465
I kind of feel like the tricky part won't be making Rie be more of a youkai or spirit child, but instead making sure Rie's God's Eyes open once more.
