I am Mewtwo, the result of an experiment to make the world's most powerful pokèmon. When my creators sought to control me, I broke out and left to find my origins, as well as the limits of my strength.

>Last time, we had a discussion about what gym leaders do with the ex-leader and went out to search for the source of the psychic screeching...

I tell the old man, <I just heard another screech from somewhere in town and that takes priority. I'll head over to the gym afterwards.>

"Aren't you worried that people will react badly to a strange Pokemon walking into town?"

<It's not my problem, unless they make it my problem. In which case, they'll regret it.>

"Don't cause trouble or the police will be called in, and even you will have trouble against six pokemon at once."

<That sounds like it could be an interesting challenge.>

"If you were to start winning, they'd have to call in the gym leader and other trainers and eventually you'd be beaten, and someone might have the bright idea to throw a pokeball."

<Point made. I'll try to avoid drawing attention to myself then.>

"Good. Just let me know when you go to challenge the gym. I'd like to see that ungrateful whelp taken down a peg or two. "

<I'll do that then.> <Come on Vulpix, we're going.>

As we head down the winding path to the town, I reach out with my mind and try to figure out where the screech could have come from. I also give the town a detailed look over from above, in case the cause is hidden.

Most of the town seems fairly similar to before, however there are a few places that seem different from before, as well as some areas that seem suspicious.

Firstly there's a house on the east side of town that looks like it's on the verge of collapsing, even though somebody lives there and the surrounding houses are new. Secondly there's a mental blank patch around the fancy building in the center of town that wasn't there before. Finally there's a shining human presence arriving at the train station and a large crowd waiting for them.
>>
Of the three suspicious places, by far the most efficient route would be to check out the run-down house first, followed by the fancy building and finally check out the commotion by the train station. However, the lack of any presences near the fancy building is by far the most suspicious and everyone being at the train station gives me a much better chance at sneaking in now, rather than later.

Decision made, I tell Vulpix <I suspect the screech came from the fancy building in the center of town. Follow me and try to avoid getting seen.>

Vulpix nods and we set off.

The outskirts of town are almost deserted and my ability to detect presences lets us easily avoid the few people who are still around. As we draw closer to the fancy building, avoiding people becomes harder and harder. More than once, I'm forced to take a more circuitous route to avoid groups of people who are either heading for the Pokemon center or rushing towards the train station. It's a little challenging to navigate the side streets from a memory of the town from above, but I manage with a minimum of getting lost.

I peer out from a side alley and into a wide plaza with the building I've been searching for. The front of the building has a neon sign depicting a stylised E on the front, along with the words 'Evolving trainers and Pokemon.' in smaller writing.

The front of the building is a pair of sliding doors, opened fully to display a grand lobby with a few stalls littered around, but nobody appears to be in. A psychic sweep of the area doesn't help as even the people I saw earlier don't show up.

The only problem is that the Pokemon center faces onto the same plaza and a group of hurried looking trainers entered about a minute ago and I don't know when they will leave.

>I have a few options. Roll 1d100 regardless of option chosen.

>Risk being seen and rush across the plaza now.

>Wait for the people to leave and then sneak across, talking longer but having less chance of being seen.

>Search for another entrance to the building, and risk setting off an alarm.
>>
Anyone there? Shameless self-bump.

Ah, it's back.

You need a twitter or something we can check to know when threads are/will be up.

>Wait for the people to leave then sneak across
Also, do our offensive powers work in this area? If not, things could get dicey if things go south.
>>
Just set up twitter account @MidnightQM It's surprising hard to set up a proxy account on my mobile. Writing.

You're really new to this advertising thing, huh?

Being seen would cause a whole heap of problems and any side entrances are probably alarmed. Therefore I should wait until the group of trainers leave to sneak in through the front door.

As soon as I've finished reasoning this out, the Pokemon center doors swing open and an angry looking trainer bursts out, yelling "I can't wait that long! I'm going to answer Zelda's challenge and she'll be here before you've finished. A moment later all his friends follow in a mob, before running off to the train station.

When the mob has left, I slink around the side of the plaza and into the building. Upon entering the building a heavy feeling settles over me.

There's a variety of colourful shops inside with automated tills selling useful items for trainers. Ignoring them, I slip through a door labeled "Staff only" I hear footsteps echoing through the corridors and feel limited by my inability to sense presences. I attempt to start swirling the dust around and despite an initial resistance, it seems that my powers are working. Reassured, I continue along, searching for anything suspicious.

As I'm slinking around, the footsteps grow louder and someone whistling can be heard. I stop at a corner as a man in a green outfit with the same stylised E as the building steps into view from a side corridor, whistling as he goes and oblivious to everything around him. I follow the man until he reaches an elevator and steps in. I take the stairs down and by the time I reach the bottom, he's nowhere to be seen.

There's a sign at the bottom with directions to a security hub and power generators. There's a unmarked third corridor that ends in a series of barred double doors. There's a whistling noise from behind them, as if there was a strong wind on the other side.

Another screech echoes, but this time it feels much closer.

>Bust down the doors
>Head over to security to access the camera feeds for the entire facility.
>Cut the power to the building to stop whatever it is.

Yes, I am. Any tips?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that they're doing something that's harmful to whatever they have in there.

Security would get us answers at the likely cost of our element of surprise, but shutting everything down, though drastic, will likely give us the best chance of successfully helping whatever's inside.
>Cut the power to the building to stop whatever it is

I'm travelling through an arena with sporadic reception, so if I disappear, don't panic. When I do eventually vanish, the quest will be on pause for 2-4 days.

>Cut the power to the building to stop whatever it is.
it will at least tell us whether the psychic dampers are powered or passive.

>>1087533
Plug it on qtg or discord. Technically just Twitter will be fine, though. Announce it a few hours in advance, etc.

Shilling on qtg does bring in numbers, but they do tend to be holier-than-thou circlejerkers, so just be warned.

Back in reception, next post in a new thread in 30 mins.
