You are free to join in at any time!

This is an experiment. It will develop similarly to a Civ, however, the setting is a huge, Hogwarts-sized (semi-military) Academy where you learn the arts of Mage knight combat - the prestigious Mageknight Academy of Madrid.

And you're a new transfer student. Students come and go all of the time, really. Idle characters will be considered to have been transferred abroad for a time for their studies, and when they return, they may post what they've advanced with in their missing turns.

There is no explicit way to 'win'. Feel free to set your own goals (become #1 in your class? Become a massive Casanova? Rags to Riches?) and enjoy this fantasy life simulation.

The Academy uses a 3-year free-course system. Anyone from ages 14 to 24 can join (by paying the hefty monthly fees), and the end goal is to pass a final test at the end of the year to pass that year, where a council will determine if your set of skills will be useful enough to fill a role in the Mageknight army or not (so you can build yourself however you want). Assistance to class isn't mandatory, and there classes every day of the week. Overall, it's very similar to university. Everyone starts off as a first year newcomer. Veterans helping out newcomers is very appreciated by the staff. The staff may also intervene at any time at their discretion.

Please keep in mind that this is similar to a test, and experiment, a beta and that radical changes may be made.

HOW TO JOIN!

Make your character. It can be a guy or a girl. Post your full character info in each of your Action posts like in a regular civ or skirmish.

Name (trip/namefag yourself):
You have 3 "skillpoints" from your backstory. Skillpoints can be used to:
-Gain anything "basic", such as "Cast Fireball", "Superslash" or "Painting" or "History".
-Add an adjective to a skill to create a new one, such as creating from "Cast Fireball" the skill "Cast Big Fireball" or "Cast Swift Fireball". Or for example "History" to "Military History" to then "Military History of Magic" as you gain more specialized knowledge in a field.
-Fuse two skills to create a new one, for example, "Superslash Fireball" or "History of Fireballs".

HOW TO PLAY

After making your character, you may immediately use your Turn. You have two Actions to spend in it. You may use these to:
-SOLO: Gain one skillpoint which you can use freely. This is the only way to gain "new" skills which nobody else has. (note that Skillpoints can't be banked and must be used immediately). RP-wise, this can be you attending a class, studying on your own or inventing a new technique of your own
-COLLABORATE: Grant up to 2 skillpoints worth of upgrades (these upgrades must be skills you already have) to someone else. For example, if you have Ancient History of Fireballs, and your friend John Doe knows nothing of any of those, you can COLLABORATE and give him History of Fireballs or Ancient History. If he already has History, you can grant him Ancient History of Fireballs.
-DO: You do something else which is significant, which doesn't involve acquisition of Skills or something equivalent to it, typically actions that involve social interactions with NPCs. For example, going to scout or flirt to get a hot girlfriend or running your school president campaign. Once you have done enough DOs to reach a notable enough achievement (note that the resolution of DOs on my behalf is entirely subjective and your Skills may contribute to how well you do), I'll grant you a +1 Action Achievement bonus will last enough turns to compensate all of the DO Actions you've spent (because you can now use the power of the new role you have or you're really happy and energetic with your new partner). For example, if you spend 10 DOs to finally become school president, I'll grant you a 10-turn +1 Action bonus because of the achievement. Once a series of actions have been compensated, they can't be used for another compensation. Keep track of your DO goals with "Running for School President (X DOs)", where X is the amount of DOs you've invested so far.

I may turn a type of action into any other if I deem it more thematically appropriate.

You can now DO: Sign up at the Student Council Office to sign up. Victory will largely increase your social standing with the Mageknight Academy of Madrid, allowing you to ask One Major Favor from them (or just bank it for later). The Favor can be anything you want, really, as long as its within the School's power to do so and its not too controversial to perform. The Favor doesn't require any roll to perform, being an automatic 100.

Sara isn't even sure who Ean is exactly, but doesn't think too much about what Tenia said. When she later finds out she was given a particularly difficult matchup she considers not bothering to show up, but eventually decides losing would be easier than being moaned and nagged at for skipping.

DO: Francis might have a huge amount of raw attack power, but Sara does actually have considerably defensive power. Use Strong Shields to stop powerful attacks. Keep up a Lasting Shield from the start to help defend against any surprises.

Agatha's Reinforced Body Armor manages to stand completely impervious to Sarah's axrobatics. There was simply not enforce force in Sarah's attacks to manage to get through. It was hopeless. Thus, in a total curb-stomp, Agatha eventually achieves victory by slamming Sarah into submission with her hammer when she got close.

Amazingly, Sarah manages to use her shields to delay Francis's slashing blasts of dark energy, by tactically spamming them. However, she doesn't manage to take him down with her own attacks, instead, they end up both exhausted. Eventually, since the battles couldn't last forever, they reached the end of the allowed time without either achieving victory. However, this alone was met with a roaring amount of cheers, as it was the first time some newcomer had managed to actually not get instantly mowed over by Amsterdam's young star.

I quite like the twist as well. It keeps me invested, and has essentially opened up a plot hook for later. As it stands, Ean knows of Tenia's... less than subtle crush on him, but he isn't aware of the degree of her obsession.

That being said, when Virgil found Tenia writing the inventory, it creeped me out irl lol. Either Ean is the 34th out of 173 poor blokes, or all of his body parts account to around 173 pages. Frankly, I'm not sure which is creepier.

Happily talk to Francis. He's the hard working serious type by the sounds of things, so tease and make fun of him mercilessly, but in a friendly sort of way. As such, refuse to make out unless he beats Sara in their next match, whenever that will be. Say we'll keep in contact though.

SOLO: The match was sort of fun, and winning a match would be good. To do that, more offensive power is needed. Experiment with force up on the school's roof to try and work out something more powerful.

The summoning department is now under repairs, as the beast within has been dealt with. The summoning teacher, Lucia (pic related), will have to give classes outdoors.

Additionally, there are posters for the Academy's League around school, detailing that students may sign up for battles that will happen every day. Signing up takes a DO, but no roll is required. The following day, you will be matched against an opponent. Winning earns you 1 League Points. With 10 League points, you may access the National League and be entrusted with being taught one Forbidden theory of your choice. This Forbidden theory can be anything highly controversial of your choice, such as mental control, true revival or altering your humanity (acquiring demonic/inhuman traits, for example). Due to school rules, skills based on Forbidden theories may strictly only be used in battles, for battle purposes, due to their forbidden nature.

Angelica uses the superior reach of her rapier and fighting style against Agata's highly reactionary defensive stance. The results are... mixed. Angelica's nimbleness and quick hits whittle down Agata slowly, but her defenses are nearly impenetrable. Agata can't land a hit on Angelica, thanks to the latter's speed.

Eventually, the battle winds on for an extended period of time. Both fighters are rendered incapable of fighting, and decide to call it a draw.
