We are Sirena Le Doux and we seek revenge against our former master. So far, we've grown more powerful, but there is much more to learn. With our list of allies and teachers slowly growing, we won't stop until we've reached the top, because that's where our former master waits.

GENOCIDE! That's today's word of the day, because that's what we just helped commit. With the remnants of the largest barbarian civilization in the nearby lands burning after the release of a terrifying plague, our group camps in the woods where we just learned our elven friend is more than she appeared...

Our story continues!

You are awoken in the early morning before the sun has risen by the sound of shouting, but it is not from nearby. It echoes across the treetops and causes birds to fly up in large numbers. Immediately Kaylessa shoots upwards, and Merriam and Brutus are similarly startled. The voice is like a great horn, bellowing from the west.

"What is THAT?" Merriam asks, clutching the bedroll she shares with you. "Some kind of monster?"

"It sounds like a giant," Kaylessa replies, going for his bow.

Brutus snorts. "I recognize that voice. It is Krom."

Your eyes widen in disbelief as you look over at him. "What? You say he lives?"

Brutus rolls over, scratches his behind and prepares to sleep again. "Those things could not kill him. He has the blood of his god."

You shimmy out of your bedroll and stand up in the cool, damp morning air. A moment later, you hear another cry, coming from the west again.

'What is he doing?' you think to yourself. 'Could he be at the church?'

Getting dressed, you quickly announce that you will go and check on it.

"That's a bad idea," Kaylessa says. "What if something happens?"

"I'll be on my horse, trust me, I'll be alright," you assure her. You climb up onto the horse and check your things before riding off.

After a moment, you hear another horse riding up behind you. It is Kaylessa again. "Sorry, but I'd rather not let you go off on your own."

"So you'd leave Merriam with the giant bull-man we don't know or trust?" you ask over your shoulder.

The elf pauses, but continues riding behind you.

It isn't long before you find the church, and what you discover is quite the sight. Sure enough, there is Krom, barbarian king without a kingdom, and he is smashing the tower.

With his bare fists.

Each punch sends a cataclysmic storm of bricks loose from the walls. Each punch is accompanied by a furious roar as he attacks the building with abandon, no method to it. Whatever he sees next, he punches. He is alone, and apparently unarmed -- not that that seems to be an issue for him.

He topples a tower of the chapel and you watch it crumble with a great cloud of dust and dirt.

"Gods," Kaylessa whispers. "How can a man do that?"

"You said it yourself," you smirk.

Krom stomps out of the church and approaches a large boulder. Without stopping to think for a moment, he grabs it and hefts it over his head. It must weigh more than three men, but he makes it seem like it weighs nothing! He turns and takes but a moment to aim before hurling it at the chapel wall, destroying the last load-bearing wall and causing the structure to collapse.

With that, he falls upon his knees and breathes heavily, apparently calming down.

'Safe bet that Albert isn't here,' you think with an amused grin.

Not sure about the disguise tho. Wynleth just seems easier since he'll recognize us.

You lightly kick the horse and ride forward with Kaylessa accompanying you. With you and him both back to your normal selves (well, with you as Mary) he doesn't recognize you as you ride up to him.

"Hail, barbarian."

"I am in no mood for conversation, woman," he says in a tone guided by fatigue as much as it is by somberness. "Unless you have drink, I am not interested."

"We may not have drink, but I know why you are here, and I know where the necromancer has gone," you tell him, and that gets his attention. He stands up and walks towards you.

"Were you in league with him then, woman with wide hat?"

"I am Mary, and no, I was not. I knew of him. He is Albert, the necromancer. He unleashed a great plague upon your people and fled north, to the swamp."

He picks up his sword and straps it to his back. "Then I know where my destination lies."

"You mean to go there now?"

"What is to stop me?" he says, holding up a fist. "For years I grew soft in my position as king. It is this softness that caused the deaths of all of my people! My people, whom I failed to protect, for I was too taken with the pleasures of wine and women! Soft and bored... NO MORE! Now I know my purpose. My people, annihilated by madness and monstrosities concocted by a vile necromancer. I shall RID the world of these foul sorcerous fiends, so that what happened to my people MAY NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN, TO ANY AND ALL!"

His rousing speech is accompanied by him pounding upon his chest and letting out a mighty warrior's cry. "So I swear it, so it shall be! If need be, I will move mountains OR TEAR THEM DOWN!"

'I don't doubt that you could...'

Necromancers like Albert rarely move of their own accord, lest they have extreme ambitions.

Also, this allows Krom to split his attention between Albert and Mordrax and perhaps serve as a diversion later. Let Krom be Krom and do his own thing, but as long as his path walks parallel to ours, that's all we ask for.

I would hardly say soft and complacent, you built a great force King and were a threat to people should you prevail over the Orcs. Do you think it was chance that this plague was visited on you?

>Send Kaylessa away and speak to him in private

At this point we should cycle through our illusions showing him the elf, "We have a common enemy even if you don't know it, the Wizard Mordrax was the one who gave the orders."

At the end of this we should have him focus on rebuilding his Horde so that we can use them later against the kingdom. In return we can advise him and ward his people from further magics

"You seem well set on your path. You should know this, then," you say, turning your horse slightly. "The necromancer you seek had allies, and a master. He has two brothers, Vincent and Herbert, and by name he is Albert. But I am certain that he, if not the other two as well, serve someone else."

"Who did he obey?"

"I know not, but think of it this way: your people were strong. They were a threat waiting to happen. Do you think it was chance that this plague was visited on you?"

"Not by chance. He unleashed it upon us through trickery!"

"And perhaps because he was ordered to," you say, and in your mind you smile wickedly. "I know that he served another, but who that person is, I know not. But I do know that it would have to be a sorcerer or wizard of even greater power than he... and the greatest in all the land is in the court of the king to the south. You have never had good relations with that king, I take it?"

His eyes widen. "You think the king commanded his wizard to find some terrible means to wipe out me and my people?"

"It is certainly possible."

His face crows stern, his brow heavy. "Maiden Mary, I thank you for this knowledge. You have told me much that will help me on my path. It is as if the gods themselves have blessed me, in this time of confusion, with an angelic herald."

He reaches for your hand and takes it, kissing the back of it. "Stay safe in these lands. My people no longer exist to repel the more dishonorable dogs from the west and south. Go east. It is safer there."

With that, he turns and walks, heading north.

"Will we ever meet again?" you ask him.

"I should hope so," he calls back.

As he walks off, you can't help but be amused. 'Everywhere I go, I create more heroes. But if I can keep manipulating them to go after Mordrax, I just may have the path to my victory...'

Kaylessa looks over and wrinkles his nose. "Do you really think that necromancer is serving the court wizard?"

You ignore the question and change the subject. "Krom will believe whatever he wants to believe. I suggest we return to the others and spend some time studying the necromancer's book until we can find a way to defeat the ghosts of the tower; our original goal."

He nods and turns his horse to trot alongside your own. "If that barbarian ever finds out we were involved with that plague..."

"Well, we weren't," you tell him firmly. "As far as he is concerned, it was the necromancer. Let him think that. Let it consume him, drive him. He may end up doing some good in the end."

"I suppose so," he admits. "Still, if he ever found out..."

"He won't."

When you return to the others, you discover that Merriam is sitting with Brutus, showing him one of her books. "You see, we record knowledge and sometimes things like poems, art and other things in books. This is so that others can read them and learn!"

"Minotaurs draw pictures," he replies, gently turning the pages and squinting as the small text. "Pictures easier to read."

"But you can learn so much more from a book than a picture. We can also work on your speech skills, teach you how to speak properly. What do you think about that?"

You and Kaylessa ride up then, and Merriam gives you a small wave. You find the scene quite cute, in a strange way. "Hello, Merriam. Teaching him to read?"

"I'd like to," she says, looking over at him. "Brutus, would you like to learn?"

"Not know," he shrugs. He closes the book and hands it back to her.

At your command, the two pack up their things and begin to trek west. Merriam climbs up behind you on the horse, assuming her usual place with her hands around your waist. Brutus walks, but each of his strides makes up for the fact that you are riding horses.

"Coming with us, then, Brutus?"

"Not want to stay here," he mutters. "You good enough for now."

'Well, thanks very much,' you think as you roll your eyes. "I assure you, we're more than good enough. Good company is hard to come by these days."

He doesn't reply as he trudges along.

Eventually you come to the bridge where you convinced the highwayman to quit. A new guard is posted here, and like before, he demands that you halt and pay a fee. This one seems to be unwilling to negotiate or let you pass like the last one. Likely he's more loyal to the captain and his hag allies.

You look at the man with a cocked eyebrow. You then look at Brutus, then back at the man.

He then takes out the most frightening of all weapons: the quarterstaff.

"...Brutus, if you would please."

The minotaur snorts and walks forward. The man's grip on his weapon tightens and he brings it up, then smashes it down on the minotaur's head, breaking it!

The weapon, that is. It snaps right in half and you can't help but laugh. As you do, Brutus lifts up one hand, grabs the man by the shoulder, and hurls him over the side of the bridge and into the water.

"Thank you, Brutus," you say to him as you all cross the bridge.

From here you travel south, to Francis' tower.

"Him again?" Merriam asks once his tower is in sight. "Didn't you hate the last time we stayed here?"

"That's in the past," you wave a hand. "The NEAR past, but still. I can forgive him."

"I'm sorry, who is this?" Kaylessa asks.

"Oh, he'd love you," you joke. "He is an archmage. He's got a lot of magical power."

Brutus snorts, apparently dismissive of magic, but doesn't object.

His front door is locked. Upon knocking on his tower door, you hear him shout from above. "Are you the milkman? Do you have my mail? Are you here to kill me?"

'Why does he always ask that?' You clear your throat. "No, I don't have any milk, but I do have a large cow with me. I don't have any mail and I'm not here to kill you, but I do have a message: if you don't get down here and make me come up there myself, I'll change my mind about the last one!"

He pokes his head out and smiles. "MARY! So good to see you! And Merriam, lovely as always. And some new friends, too. I always knew you could make more if you tried."

"Funny. Now let us in."

"You didn't say the... MAGIC word."

You roll your eyes. "Please?"

"Well, that works too, I suppose," he giggles to himself as he snaps his finger. You hear a locking mechanism on the other side rattle around and the door opens. You, Merriam and Kaylessa enter, but Brutus sits outside next to the door.

"Not coming in?"

"Stay here. No like towers. No like wizards. No like him; smells bad. Needs shower."

You wait while tapping your foot. Doesn't he know how to greet guests? 'I swear, if he didn't happen to be one of the most powerful mages I have ever met, I would destroy him for being so rude.'

Finally he comes downstairs, wearing a new robe. A strange scent hits your nostiles; some kind of cologne?

"Ladies, ladies, ladies," he says. "Welcome to my tower. Mary, Merriam, always a 'pleasure'... and you, my dear?" He approaches Kaylessa and takes her hand. "Mm. Elves, always the softest of skin... What is your name, my beautiful elven flower?"

He pulls his hand away. "Uh. I'm Kaylessa."

"A beautiful name. Doesn't it mean, 'To hide in plain sight'?"

"Erm, well, in some elven dialects yes, but..."

"I certainly hope you won't vanish from me," he says as he kisses the back of the elven boy's hand. He then looks over at your face. "Mary, why are you smiling like that?"

"Nothing, no reason," you flat-out lie, trying to contain your laughter.

Francis stands up. "Please, make yourselves at home. In accordance with the laws of hospitality, everything I can do to make you more comfortable, you needn't hesitate to ask." He leans closer to Merriam and emphasizes, "ANYTHING."

"Thank you, Francis," you say, patting him on the top of his head. "I came by hoping to learn a few new things. I have a book I want to study."

"Oh, a book? May I?"

You take it out and hand it to him. He starts flipping through its pages. "Ah. Necromancy. What a shame. You should really focus on other schools, Mary. Your talents are wasted on this... drivel." He tosses it over his shoulder, and Kaylessa catches it. He steps closer to you and continues, "One of your talents, with... assets... such as your own shouldn't spend time amongst the dead, but making the living."

"What?"

"I meant, WITH the living. Excuse me."

"Well, I've come to learn more from your school."

"I can certainly help you to be more evocative," he says, raising and lowering his eyebrows.

You almost roll your eyes, but remain playfully into his little games. 'Why does he do this? He could have whatever he wanted, but he insists on being a lecherous pervert. I can't underestimate him again -- I know what power he wields. That Codex Arcana of his allows him to do almost anything...'

You fold your arms in front of you, purposefully pushing up your breasts. "Oh, please, Francis. I'd love to learn."

He adjusts his collar. "Yes, yes, how about some tea first?" He snaps a finger and suddenly, from another room, an imp carrying a tray walks out. The creature begrudgingly mumbles something infernal as it walks around, offering each of you a cup. You've seen these things before -- a simple and common summon among conjurers, and the weakest of devils.

"What is that thing?" Merriam asks.

"Just a harmless minion," he assures her. He takes a sip. "Reginald! I said with honey, HONEY!"

"Razn-frazn, rozzle dozzle..." the imp mutters, walking back into the pantry.

"No lip from you!" he shouts after the small devil. He turns back and smiles. "Sorry about that. Hard to find help these days."

"About evocation..."

"Ah, yes, of course. But I'm sure you'll remember our deal, yes?" he asks, licking his lips. "So, what'll it be?"

"How about dinner and a date... with Kaylessa?"

"What?!" the elf speaks up. "I didn't sign up for--"

"Done!" Francis says, rubbing his hands together. "I'll go get things ready."

He walks up his stairs and Kaylessa walks over to you. "Mary! I can't date him!"

"I know, I wouldn't want to either," Merriam says.

"That's not what I -- the point is, I can't!" He leans in close. "You KNOW why!" he whispers.

"It'll be fine," you assure him. "He's harmless." After a moment, you realize you aren't comfortable with that lie. "MOSTLY harmless. I'll be there, don't worry."

He whispers back into your ear, "Mary, I am NOT that kind of elf!"

"What with men?"

"I meant I don't sell myself!"

"So, you're okay with men?"

"MARY!"

"Just asking," you shrug. "Look, you get a free meal out of it, and he's not... all bad."

He huffs. "I don't get paid enough for this."

"I thought you said you don't sell yourself?"

"That's not what I -- GAH!" He points a finger at you and continues to whisper, "If this ends badly for me, I'm going to find a way to get back at you!"

"You'll be fine. Just play along."

"What are you two whispering about?" Merriam asks.

You pull back and smile at her. "Nothing, nothing at all!"

Francis then comes back downstairs, carrying a box. He hands it to Kaylessa. "If you would please..."

He opens it up, then his face flushes red. "I'm not wearing THAT!"

"Kaylessa..." you say.

He blushes. "I'll do the dinner, but NOT that." He hands Francis the box back and walks into another room to look for a drink.

Francis watches him go. "Oh, I love fiesty elves..."

"Trust me, that one's a handful," you chuckle. "Now, about my magic."

"Of course! I'll hand you a book and let you take care of everything." He leads you over to a large stack of books. "Now, what do you want to know? I have it in here somewhere, probably, mabye."

Alright, here's a list of spells we can get from flipping through the book.

For now, let's choose only two.

>Arcane Strike - Melee attack, hand becomes like a blade that can swipe at an enemy
>Shatter - Sonic attack that can shatter weaker objects like glass, plates, etc.
>Blinding Flash - bright flash of light that can repel enemies or blind them
>Choking Ring - conjure up a forceful ring around an opponent's neck to choke them
>Forceful Noose - opposite of forceful push; pulls an target towards you
>Chaos Orb - an orb that will always have a random effect upon striking its target
>Cloud of Daggers - create a cloud of arcane force daggers that will attack anything that enters it
>>
>>1052270
>Arcane Strike
>Forceful Noose
Some close-range protection is always welcome.
>>
>>1052276
Plus, the Noose will be able to rip people out of any long-range comfort zone they may have. Combined with the Arcane Bolt and Forceful Push, we now have long-range and close-range options that complement each other.

>>Choking Ring - conjure up a forceful ring around an opponent's neck to choke them
ability to kill people without them screaming would be nice.

>Forceful Noose - opposite of forceful push; pulls an target towards you
>>
>>1052390
We are already about to learn the circle of choking dust from the book of necromancy.
>>
>>1052390
Plus we can always just buy a dagger to do the same thing as arcane strike. Or just use any of our offensive spell at close range.
>>
>>1052399
But does choking dust strangle people to death?
Or just make them hack and cough for awhile?
I'm just thinking we may need something a bit stealthier so the screams and coughs of our victims don't alert the entire area.
>>
That last vote pushes Forceful Noose up one and ties Choking Ring with Arcane Strike.

>Forceful Noose: Casting your arms outwards, focusing and muttering a word of power allows you to create a rope of arcane energy that you toss at a target within ten feet. When you clench both hands and pull, the target will be compelled by strength greater than your own to come towards you. There is no direct energy seen; it is an invisible noose. Anything caught by the spell is not inherently damaged, but they can be if pulled into something.

NOW CHOOSE BETWEEN THESE TWO:

>Arcane Strike: A blade of untyped force energy encompasses your hand of choice, and dissolves a moment later, giving you just enough time to strike with it. It is a powerful blade with an unnaturally sharp edge, and is not much longer than a standard knife or dagger. The hand you are using this with must remain flat in order to become a literal knife-hand.

>Choking Ring: By focusing and muttering some words of power, you can clench a hand and summon a ring that constricts around a certain body part of a single target, usually the neck. You can increase or decrease pressure with your hand, but if you completely unclench it or lose focus, the ring will cease. Note that this is less effective against foes wearing armor or who do not need to breathe, and as a rule of thumb does not hurt beings made of stone, metal or similar elements.

Two new spells: Arcane Strike and Forceful Noose. You can just imagine pulling people towards you and severing their life with a knife-like strike! Quite the wonderful picture. Merriam sits nearby, reading a book of her own from Francis' collection; 'So, You Have No Talent: A Dummie's Guide to Starting Magic: Abridged Version: 6th Edition'

Upstairs, you occasionally hear Francis preparing for his date. Kaylessa wanders by every now and then, grumbling about how he doesn't get paid enough for this kind of thing, and how most of the things you seem to do benefit solely you. You assure him that everything will work out in the end, and he begrudgingly continues to induldge in the drink he found. You warn him to be careful not to drink too much of anything found in Francis' tower.

In the early evening, after you have learnt your new spells, there is a knock on the door. You wonder if it is Brutus, perhaps, and go to open it. You look around and see no one until you look down and fine a female gnome dressed in green.

"Hello?" you greet her.

"I'm here to see Francis," she says, sounding somewhat disappointed. She then walks between your legs and into the living room.

"Well, come in." You close the door and look back at her. "I am Mary. You are?"

"VERY upset," she says, her hands on her hips. "Pardon my rudeness. I am just a TINY bit ABSOLUTELY LIVID. And that is NOT a pun this time."

"He should be down in a moment," you explain. "He's getting ready for a date."

That seems to set her off. "The NERVE of that pervert! With who?"

Kaylessa walks back in and the gnome looks at her. "Oh, with some skinny, twig-like, breeze-would-blow-me-over tramp?"

He blinks a few times. "I beg your pardon?"

"Oh, stuff a finely-woven elven shawl in it, sister, I'm talking to Francis before you do."

"Please, by all means do," he says, putting up his hands defensively. "I don't even like the guy."

"Well that makes TWO of us."

"What did he do to you?" you ask her.

She scrunches her face and snaps her finger, dispelling an illusion upon herself, revealing that her slim gnomish body isn't so slim after all, but is rather accompanied by a little bump -- a baby bump!

"THIS!"

You put a hand to your mouth and try to contain your giggles. 'Oh, gods, Francis. Really?'

At that moment, the culprit in question comes down the stairs, his hair slicked back with grease and a boquet of flowers in his hands. "I'm ready, my dear!" He reaches the bottom of the stairs and turns outwards. "Are you ready for a once-in-a-lifetime--GAH! Trixillionaloma! What are you doing here?!"

"To make you FESS up!" she points at him. "YOU DID THIS TO ME! YOU RUINED MY LIFE!"

"I, I, I did no such thing!" he replies, dropping the flowers to defensively hold his chest. "Everyone knows gnomes and humans cannot crossbreed!"

"Exactly, that's why I let you do that thing with the thing! Without protection!" She takes out a knife. "Now I'm going to get a confession, even if I have to cut off the offending member and analyze it with science!"

"NOW NOW, there is NO reason to do such!" he says, backing up the stairs.

Trixillionaloma -- that's far too complicated, so Trixie will do -- snaps her fingers and suddenly there are several of her all around. Your eyes widen as you realize what she is -- an illusionist! 'Of course. Gnomes are known for their illusion magic!'

Francis looks around, growing increasingly nervous.

"Now what are you going to do, Francis?" they all ask in unison.

"I have a few ideas," he replies, waving a hand and muttering some words. He creates a cloud of smoke that fills the room to cover his escape.

"Get back here!" Trixie shouts as all of her chase him up the stairs.

You put a hand on Kaylessa's shoulder. "See? I told you it would work out."

For the next hour or so, all you hear coming from upstairs is shouting, furniture breaking and the occasional crackling of fireworks and magic. You idly look through some books and help Merriam with her studies as Kaylessa takes up his bow and decides he needs some fresh air before leaving to go hunting to take her mind off of things.

Eventually Trixie comes downstairs, brushing herself off.

"So, how did it go?" you ask her.

"I got what I wanted. Child support! A monthly fee from him to me." She smiles and pats her belly. "This little cash cow is going to take Francis for nearly half of what he's got!"

"How... romantic," you say with a grin. "Say, by any chance, do you teach illusion magic?"

"As a matter of fact, I do! I have several students from the local gnomish burrows. If you'd ever like to drop by, I'd be happy to impart some knowledge in my arts. All you need to do is go straight north from this tower until you cross the river into gnomish territory. Oh, by the way: don't let that lecherous pervert fool you: he's enchanted his seed with divine essence so he can impregnate literally anything, like a god can. He's a filthy liar, he is."

"Good to know, thank you," you tell her as she walks towards the door. She reaches up on her toes to turn the knob and walks out, walking past a snoring Brutus and out into the wild where she turns invisible.

Francis comes downstairs, dishevelled and embarassed. "Is she gone?"

"How exactly does one enchant their seed?" you ask him. "And why a gnome?"

"Hey... You never feel quite so big as with a gnome," he shrugs. "Is Kaylessa still here?"

"No."

"Ah, damn. Well... I'm going to go into my observatory and do some stuff. You can have the bed like last time, the couch is fine for me."

Francis yawns as he trudges up the stairs, muttering about allimony and elves.

Closing your book, you decide to walk over and help Merriam. Sitting alongside her, you give her some insight into the more subtle aspects of magic that her book won't or can't cover. It has been a while since you have properly taught her, and so you have to go over a few things with her.

Repetition and action, repetition and action. You help her with the words, movements of the hand, and the proper state of mind.

Eventually, her fingers begin to glow pink, and she begins to write letters in the air. Small, sparkling letters: "I Love Mary"

You pause when she is finished, and she blushes heavily as she averts her eyes. After a moment, you smile and turn her head towards yours to gently kiss her. She sighs in relief as you do, rewarding her sweet gesture.

'Love, eh? I didn't know she was that smitten with me. How sweet... and useful.'

Merriam turns around to sit in your lap as the kiss deepens. She's been wanting this since that night in the inn, you can tell. Now that you're finally alone --

There is a knock at the door, causing the kiss to break as you both look at it. Merriam blushes and climbs off as you walk over towards it and open it up. Kaylessa is there, holding a dead rabbit. He walks in and sits down on one of Francis' chairs with an 'oomph' as he sets the rabbit down nearby. "So, does he have more than one bed?"

'Hm, that is a problem... There is only one bed.'

"No. We'll have to share."

Merriam seems somewhat disappointed as you take her by the hand and lead her up the stairs with Kay following. Once inside his room, which is just as disorganized as you remember from last time, you begin to strip.

"What are you doing?" Kay asks, slightly caught off-guard as you quickly get to your underwear.

"Just getting ready for bed," you reply in a sly tone. "Come on, you two."

"I... I've changed my mind," he says, nervous about Merriam's presence. "I shouldn't..."

You catch him before he can reach the door and turn him around. "It's alright," you assure him. "Go on."

Merriam watches with confused eyes as he reaches up with shaking hands and undoes his shirt. She gasps when the truth is revealed.

"You're a boy?" she asks, suddenly looking at him in an entirely different light.

"Yes," you answer for him. "He is." You turn him around and remove the rest of his shirt, revealing his lithe elven form to both of your eyes. His pants come next, which you slip down his thin legs, revealing a cute little pair of cotton underpants.

You then give him a playful push towards the bed. He lands on it and looks up at you, unsure of your intentions. 'I don't want to take you until you want it yourself,' you think. 'But I don't mind a little bit of playing around...'

Merriam quickly gets down to her underwear as well, before climbing onto the bed with you. You lie between her and Kay, so you are in the middle.

After settling in under the blankets, the next phase of your plan springs into action. You start giving Merriam the same attention you gave to her downstairs, by embracing her and kissing her neck. She is initially against doing this with someone else in the room, but you are persistant and soon she immediately surrenders, wrapping her arms around you and returning your kisses.

Soon, you and she are making out, filling the room with soft gasps and whimpers as tiny moans escape her lips. You steal a look back at Kay, who has the covers up to just underneath his eyes, staring intently at you both. Giving him a smile, you resume your attack on Merriam until you are on top of her, licking at her neck and just above her breasts, all while staring at him.

For minutes on end, you continue paying most of your attention to Merriam; kissing, fondling, suckling and licking. Eventually, your clothing is completely discarded, and you and she progress to more intimate actions, all hidden beneath the blanket from his eyes -- but you know his imagination must be running wild. Nearly all the while, you stare at Kay with half-lidded, inviting eyes, but he is nervous.

'I wonder if he ever thought he would find a group THIS accepting,' you amuse yourself. As you grind against Merriam, you reach over under the covers and touch his soft chest. He is startled, but doesn't fight you off. Your hand drifts lower, over his hairless abs to play with his belly button before dipping even deeper. There, you discover the only proof of his masculinity (other than a lack of obvious breasts) and touch him through the thin fabric of his underwear.

He stiffens immediately and lets out a gasp. Merriam, too distracted with you, doesn't notice. Her head is buried between your breasts. You rub up and down, gently coaxing more mewls of pleasure out of him.

You withdraw your hand, smiling at him. 'You'll have to come to me,' you think as you give him a strong, alluring gaze. 'Willingly.'

But he doesn't. He waits and watches as you finish up with Merriam, falling over to once lay between them. Merriam, gasping and exhausted, covered in sweat and other things, soon falls asleep.

That's when Kay decides to make his move. He reaches over and touches your stomach as he leans into your face, halfway between deciding what to do: kiss you or pull away.

You look over and place a hand on his neck to help him make the choice by pulling him in closer. His lips, softer than Merriam's but not as plump, are a delight nonetheless. His tongue is narrow and thin, and his body is creamy soft. Soon you have turned to face him fully, your hands exploring his smooth body.

That's all it is this night; kissing, cuddling, feeling. You reach between his legs and feel him, reaching underneath the thin band of his underwear to give him a treat for waiting so patiently. As you do this, you lick up his ear and come to wrap your lips around it, sucking on it gently.

This sends him over the edge, past the point of no return. He falls alseep in your arms soon afterwards as you hold him close.

'Now, you are mine as well,' you think with a smile, kissing his girlish cheeks. 'After what we can give you, you'd never go to another group. My little elf boy toy...'

Eventually, with two very satisfied lovers on either side of you, you drift off to sleep.

But you should know better than to expect a good night's rest in Francis' tower.

When you wake up, you stretch your arms and yawn, feeling satisfied and relaxed. You feel Kay alongside you, but something feels strange about Merriam... She is hard. Very hard. Unnaturally, immovably, impossibly hard -- because she is STONE!

'Oh, gods damn that archmage, not again!' You sit up and bump your head on the ceiling. "Ow!"

Kay's eyes open and he suddenly shouts, but in elven. "<Mary! You're gigantic!>"

You look at yourself and realize that you are, indeed, at least twice as large as you were before. Your feet hang off the bed and your companions are dwarfed by your presence. Merriam, soundly asleep (but encased in stone) and Kay are both like children compared to you now.

"I'm going to kill that damn archmage," you mutter. You realize that none of your clothes will fit, and so you take the blanket and improvise. Kaylessa scrambles out of bed and reaches for his clothing, only to discover that his arms stretch impossibly long when he desires! He reaches across the room to grab his pants and pulls them to him. And then he shouts, gibbering in elvish, as he extends and contracts his limbs.

"Kay, go get Francis. Get him down here, now!"

"<I'll try!>"

She walks over to the door and stretches a hand to open it, then walks upstairs. You can hear noises from above as you sit and wait, draping yourself in curtains as a makeshift bra.

Eventually, he comes downstairs and looks up. "My, Mary! You've grown! Have you been drinking your milk?"

You reach out and grab him by the waist, lifting him up. "Listen here, little man! You'd better fix this, and fix this right!"

"I'd be happy to!" You set him down, and he cracks his fingers, then summons up the Codex Arcana. He casts a spell on your clothing, making it just as large as you are. "There. Fixed."

"That's NOT what I meant!"

He chuckles to himself. "Forgive me. That was a bad joke. Shall we try again?"

"LAST chance."

He clears his throat, and prepares to cast...

He casts his spell, and you suddenly find yourself not where you were. Instead, you are in a dimly-lit corridor with many twists, turns and dead ends: a maze.

"FRANCIS! What is going on?!"

His voice echoes. "Uh, hang on, something's wrong... I think you're in another dimension."

"What? What dimension? What did you DO?"

"Are you fixed?"

"Yes, but I'm not where I was!"

"Ah... feedback. Oh... Hang on. The book's setting me straight, here. It seems your minotaur friend is still asleep outside... you're in his dream."

You look around. "THIS is his dream?"

"What's it like in there?"

"It's a maze!"

"Hah, classic."

"FRANCIS! I fail to see any amusement in this!"

"Sorry. I'll see about getting you out of there... but this could be tricky."

"Why?"

"Well, dreams are fickle things. If he wakes up, you might be lost in there forever."

"So, don't wake him up!"

"I'm working on it. I'll put him into a deep trance..."

Suddenly, off in the distance, you hear a great roar.

"Uh oh..."

"If I were you, I'd try to find the heart of the maze," he suggests. "That might contain a way out."

"Francis, I swear to the gods, if I get stuck in here forever, I'm going to..." Your voice fades away as you try to think of a threat that could follow being trapped in a dream forever.

"Don't worry, I'll get you out of there," he says. "In the meantime, I'll fix your friends, too."

You hear another roar, but this time it is closer.

"Oh, hell."

You begin to run. You don't know where you are going, but whenever you hear the sound of a roar, you go in the opposite direction. The maze is twisting and turning, confusing as could be; it doesn't help that it is a dream and everything has a strangely lucid quality to it.

Soon you find yourself running in more open areas, in larger portions of the maze. The roars grow distant, and for a time you think you are safe.

"Mary!" Francis' voice reaches you. "Good news, I fixed Kaylessa. You think she'll still want to date me?"

"I'm dealing with more than your love life at the moment, Francis!"

"I'll put that as a 'maybe.' Anyway, I'm working on Merriam now."

"Hurry up!"

"Don't worry, I can fix this if I just take my time. You're so impatient..."

'Oh, I'll show you the meaning of patient when I get out of here!'

Another roar reaches your ears, closer than you thought it would be, and so you take off running.

You run through the maze, putting more and more distance between you and whatever is chasing you, but it never seems to be good enough. It keeps getting closer and closer; you can hear its breaths around each corner you leave behind you. You sprint and turn, dashing as hard as you can to escape. But no matter where you go, it never seems far behind. The monster roars and you hear the beating of hooves, the stomping on stone as it catches up.

"Good news, Mary!" Francis' voice bounces off the walls. "I fixed Merriam! Now, on to you..."

"HURRY UP!"

The monster behind you roars; it's just around the corner! That's when you suddenly see a strange light up ahead; golden and contrasting with the dull grey of the maze. You run towards it, turning a corner and discovering a small, baby minotaur. The innocent-looking creature stares up at you with wide eyes.

Then, you hear the monster behind you. You turn around to look, but there is nothing there. When you turn back to the baby, you see that now the baby is in a pair of strong arms -- Brutus holds him, cradling him. He nuzzles the little baby, then holds him up and smiles.

A portal of light opens up alongside you. You stare at the duo for but a moment more before you step through, back into Francis' bedroom.

"Mary!" Merriam says, throwing her arms around you. Kaylessa wipes her brow clean of sweat from worry.

Francis closes his book. "There, see? Not so bad." He looks you up and down. "Well, then again, you are still naked. That's DEFINITELY no so bad."

For a moment, he is silent. Then he finally says, "They say, minotaur never lost in maze. Maze is home." He brings a hand up to his face and covers it. "The world is a maze. I am lost in it. No home. No son. No purpose."

Your brow furrows.

'Confound these damn people I find myself surrounded by,' you think. 'What am I to do? Tell him to give up? That nothing matters? I'm not a life-changing sage!'

You place a hand on his shoulder. "Brutus, you could find a new purpose. Sometimes, a life can change dramatically. Everything you thought and new is gone in an instant, and you have to change, adapt to new circumstances. You may find yourself becoming a completely different person, and making new friends, allies you never thought you would. Your old life seems like some kind of different existence. That's why you must MAKE your own purpose. You mustn't give up, because even if nothing matters, you can MAKE things matter."

'Wow... I'm just giving him the pep talk I give myself.'

Standing up in front of him, you throw out your arms and say, "Even if this world is a maze, even if LIFE is a maze, with dead ends and confusing corridors and every turn seems the same, you must remember: every maze has a beginning and an end, and a light at its heart."

'Even if that light is sweet, sweet, terrible vengeance,' you think.

Brutus looks up at you, his dark eyes settling on your form. Suddenly, he stands up and hugs you. You let out a gasp as your lungs are constricted by his powerful arms.

"Mary, you give me my son's necklace. You give me hope. Remind me that maze has purpose, life has purpose... Brutus has purpose."

He lifts you off the ground in his massive grip. You manage to choke out, "Y-yes, yo-you're welc-come! P-please put me down, now... please!"

He does just that, then looks at his hands. He takes a deep breath through his nostrils. "Feel young. Sun on shoulders. Strength in legs. Old bull not dead yet! Can make world better place. Never let another lose their son, lose their hope!"

"Great, fantastic, wonderful," you cough. From the doorway, Merriam and Kaylessa appear, both smiling at what you have done. Merriam comes over and hugs you, then Kaylessa as well.

Suddenly, all three of you are hugged at once, as Brutus lifts you up in a great group bear hug! (or bull hug, rather)

"...Of both of you, slightly," he admits. "It's just you're both very lovely, and, well, I'd hate to pry in between your romance."

"I'll miss you, Mary," Francis calls from his window. "Visit again soon, okay?"

"Always a... 'pleasure', Francis." You wave up at him as your group rides off.

As you ride and Brutus walks, Kaylessa speaks up. "So... I guess this is a good time to bring this up now, but I wasn't about to go on a date with him without some kind of compensation."

"Oh?" you ask.

He holds up a bag. "He had stuff lying around. I thought some of it might be enchanted or useful."

Alright, I have the items all generated. Sorry for the wait.

Bowstring of Frost: If affixed to a bow, shoots wintery arrows.
Masterwork Silver Dagger: Non-magical, but beautiful, ornate, and wrought of finest pure silver.
Wand of Shared Sensation: When used, target A and target B share pain and pleasure felt by both.
Ring of Minor Telekinesis: Allows the wearer to manipulate small objects that do not weigh much up to about twenty feer.
Potion of Remove Fear: Or the potion of courage, the effect is the same: elimination of all fear for about a half hour.

How do we want to split these up?
>>

Kay gets the bowstring.
Ben get the potion.

Merry gets the dagger (until we enchant it and take it for ourselves).

After splitting up the loot as appropriate, and with your new shiny ring, your group nears Bridge Town. Though people are wary of Brutus, they seem to merely give him a wide berth rather than interract with him or bar him from entry. With a village of p'orcs not far away, it isn't exactly the case that people are not used to non-humans or non-elves, but more a case of them simply being wary of the large and imposing minotaur.

It seems that upon your arrival, you detect something is different with the town. It isn't long before you realize that they are holding preliminaries for electing a new mayor, and allowing candidates to step forward and make a case for themselves.

However, with the time of the election fast approaching, you'll need to head to the tower tonight!

In this time, you'll have the opportunity to learn ONE spell in regards to spirits from the book.

We could capture the spirits, until after the election.
Then set them up to guard the tower to use as our secret base.

Enchantment School:

Ghostslaying Weapon: By casting this enchantment upon a mundane item, such as a sword or an axe, you turn it harmful to the normally difficult-to-harm spirits. This enchantment lasts for one hour, and allows physical weapons to damage and even destroy spirits that they strike.

With all of your equipment and spells ready, you ensure that everyone else is as well. Kaylessa has equipped her new bowstring, and Ben has his new shield ready along with his father's sword. Merriam is prepared to come along, though she is nervous. You keep her armed with the silver dagger -- silver being one of the few things that can harm many baleful undead things.

After getting Ben acquainted with Brutus, the five of you ride off towards the haunted tower. Following the road and the guard who agreed to take you, he brings you to the point just where you could cross the eastern river flowing from Cross Lake.

He points you west, wishes you well and rides back to Bridge Town.

You five look on at the tower in the late evening sun. It doesn't appear inhabited, and is in somewhat deteriorated condition. From what you've read, ghosts lurk around it, within it, and in the buried keep below it.

Gathering your allies close, you perform the enchantment on all of their primary weapons, blessing them with the power to slay ghosts. When they pick them back up, they seem to shine with a subtle greenish/purplish tint. With this done, you prepare to advance towards the tower.

The closer you get, the more you notice fog starting to roll in. Your group remains close as the hairs on your arm begin to stand up.

Suddenly, you hear a noise, the beating of hooves and an ethereal cry. You look as a figure rides up, brandishing a sword in one hand and a burning pumpkin in the other, slicing at your group! The headless figure -- for indeed the spirit is without a head -- rides past you, offering you only a glimpse at its true nature. It is a woman, or was, and as it scatters your group it vanishes into the fog.

Now the mist grows even thicker, and you hear crows crying in the distance. Your ears pick up the sounds of approaching hooves!

You hear the hoove approaching and see the burning eyes of the pumpkin in her hand.

With a smirk, you say, "Sorry Pumpkin, but--"

What you were looking at proves only to be an illusion. The real headless horsewoman then rides from your right, slicing at your back with her saber. You let out a cry of pain and fall down.

"MARY!" Ben shouts, charging up. The headless horsewoman strikes at him, but he blocks the attack with his shield. When he swings his sword, it hits the horse, causing it great pain for it too is spectral in nature.

The horsewoman rides off into the shadows as Merriam runs over and picks you up. Though it was not a particularly deep cut, it was one that draws quite a bit of blood.

Merriam helps you up as Kaylessa fires into the fog. "I can't get a clear shot!"

Brutus looks all around. "Not see anything!'

You scan your eyes around the area and try to get a good look at your opponent. Again you hear hooves nearby, but remembering what happened last time, you wait for the attack before choosing your target. You prepare a forceful push and blast out to your right, hitting the horsewoman directly. It pushes all fog away from her, but does not knock her off her horse. Rather, it pushes back on them, keeping them still for a moment.

>>1054969
>>1054941

Both you and Kaylessa let loose with a ranged attack; you with an arcane bolt, and she with an arrow with her enchanted bow and bowstring. Both strikes it their mark, damaging the spirit.

She holds up the pumpkin and its eyes glow bright red. Merriam grabs your hand and pulls you back as it unleashes a gout of flame that lights up the area. Having successfully diverted you, the horsewoman rides back off into the fog and vanishes.

What nobody expected was that she would come from above! Descending from the treetops, the spectral rider leaps down with a slam that sends everyone sprawling.

You turn around just in time to see the woman reaching down for you, grabbing you by the neck and hoisting you up to stare at the empty space where her head once was. You can imagine eyes burning where she stares back.

Slowly, her hand clenches down on your throat as she rides off, taking you with her. She holds you up and lets you hit a branch, then lets go, allowing you to hit the dirt.

Merriam takes out her knife and stomps on the pumpkin. The fog recedes as everything returns to normal.

Kaylessa helps Ben back up to his feet and Merriam does the same with you. "Good work," you tell her as she wipes orange off of her knife.

Ben is quick to walk over. "Are you alright, Mary?"

"For now," you reply, rubbing your head. Brutus walks up and snorts.

"No like this place."

Slowly, your group searches around the tower. You can detect the presence of more spirits, but their number and location within the tower itself elude you.

That's when Brutus calls out, "Stepped on something. Door!"

The minotaur has accidentally discovered a trap door. Had you gone straight into the tower, you likely wouldn't have seen it, as it is covered in dirt. The five of you gather around it and dust it off, revealing that it is locked.

'Might as well start at the bottom.' You step back and look at the minotaur. "Brutus, if you would."

He lifts up his axe and, once everyone is clear, slams it down on the lock, severing it. He kicks aside both halves as Ben walks up and opens up the trap door, revealing a ladder.

"I'll go first," he bravely volunteers, climbing down. His new plate mail that you assembled from the dead bounty hunters clunks slightly as he descends. "It's dark!" he calls back up.

You go next, then the others. You find yourself in a room that has a few sparse furnishings, including a table, a few columns along one wall.

You take a moment to cast darkvision upon everyone, so that you needn't waste any torches or damage anything. Now you can see the room as though it were lit by moonlight.

There is a candlestick with a melted candle on the table, along with some other random clutter. One wall features a relief of a family; it must be the Redfords. Other than that, the room is barren, save for its doors, of which there are quite a few.

"Be cautious," you tell them. "I still sense spirits somewhere..."

Indeed, there are undead in this keep. You cannot yet be certain where.

You begin to investigate everything in the room, specifically the relief.

As you near it and look at the family; a father, a mother, two brothers, and a little girl, it begins to bleed. Blood seeps from the painting, sprouting from each family member -- except the little girl.

"What the hell?" Ben asks, holding up his shield. Merriam puts her hand over her mouth while Kaylessa and Brutus linger in the back.

You step back at the blood begins to pool on the ground, and a cold wind blows through the room. You suddenly sense the presence of a spirit, but only its eyes; it is observing you, watching your every move.

"It's here," you whisper, your breath visible.

You pour out the bones from your bag and quickly summon up the skeleton. The spirit makes no more move, and soon its presence vanishes elsewhere.

"I'm glad we came here," Kaylessa mutters. "This is fun."

You look at your elf friend and smile. "Oh yes, I am so glad we came too, the spirits here are quite vigorous and the physical phenomenon they can pull off is very impressive."

"We didn't come here to study," she reminds you.

You approach the southern door and experimentally push it open. It reveals a hallway that leads to the east. The other southern door, the one that is stuck, also leads here.

This hallways is carpetted rather nicely, though it is old and dusty. At the end of it you find a locked stone door with strange, gargoyle-like carvings upon it.

"Find anything?" Ben asks. Merriam looks over his shoulder.

"Just a stone door," you reply, carefully examining the gargoyle carvings. It doesn't appear to be magical in nature, but it is locked.

You call for Kaylessa to move up and attempt to unlock the door. She works at it for a moment, casting a spell on the lock, and the door mechanism opens.

The stone door slides to one side, revealing a room with various statues lining the east wall. They appear to be of nobles, family members and more. Each of them is covered in some kind of strange ichor, like ectoplasm.

You sense the presence of spirits in these statues, trapped within them.

Beyond them at the very opposite end of this long room is an archway and a door leading west. There is something on the floor at the far wall; it looks like a book bound in leather.

As you enter the room with Ben and Brutus behind you, the nearest statue's eyes begin to glow! Before you can react or dodge, the statue blasts you with a beam of light and you begin to feel your movements slow.

Ben and Brutus waste no time in barreling through the statue and knocking it down, but this unleashes the spirit within it! The other statues then begin to glow. Ben holds up his shield and stands over you, deflecting the beams with its antimagic field. Brutus then smashes the other two statues as Kay and Merriam run into the room!

You recognize this effect on you as petrification, but the beam wasn't on you long enough. You are temporarily slowed but it will pass.

The three spirits attack!

>>1055803

That leaves one ghost remaining. Your resolve doubled, you raise a hand an blast it, giving Ben an opening to impale it with his sword then smash it with his shield, splattering it all over the wall!

Kaylessa lowers her bow from the doorway. "Is it over?"

"Not yet," you reply. "There's another ghost here... with a female voice. I heard it just now, trying to take me over. Don't worry, I'm fine."

You pick yourself up, feeling the slowness effect end on you. You walk across the room and pick up the journal, finding it to be both waterlogged and locked on the front.

Rolling your eyes, you ask Merriam for her knife and slice its binding open, allowing you to read it, which you do so aloud.

"I thought purchasing that mirror would be a nice gift for my family, but it has brought only ruin. It is not a mirror. It is a door. My sweet daughter Olivia has fallen under its spell. Now she sits in front of it for hours, staring not at her reflection, but something I cannot see. It has taken her. I know this. Soon, it will come for us, in her body."

"A mirror, eh?" Ben says. "Some kind of magic?"

"Sounds like something we should smash," Kaylessa replies.

You approach the door to the west and see strange lights coming from the other side. You invite Brutus to make the door unstuck, and he does so with his hoof.

What lies beyond is a small room, but a vital one. It contains two things: a large mirror that takes up the entirety of the wall, and a ghost.

Specifically a little girl, bound in some kind of black fabric, wearing a mask.

'That must be the little girl, and that must be the mirror. What luck!'

"You have come to me," she says, speaking in all of your minds. Immediately everyone puts a hand on their head, except for you. You resist such mental attacks. "You. The woman of great power. This body is small, weak. You shall be my new vessel."

"Not interested, sister."

"You do not have a choice!"

Her clothed body spreads out to reveal a dead little girl underneath, animated by spectral magic. "Come forth, now, and receive me, and be received!"

Your hands glow with magic as the others struggle to remain standing. "You're going to receive something, alright, and isn't going to be my body."

You fall back into the larger room and pick up a rock from the fallen statue. You aim for the mirror, but a spectral tendril from the ghost reaches out and stops the rock, protecting it. She then follows you into the next room.

A burst of energy from her sends the others sprawling. Ben shouts and grabs his head as he tries to stay on his feet.

"You have slain my other spirits. You shall be replacements!"

"Not... on... your... life!" Ben replies, perhaps not understanding the irony of that statement. He swings his sword, but misses when she floats back.

>>1055934

Taking advantage of her distraction, you run forward and touch her. Her essence is stinging, strange and eldritch in nature, but you successfully resist her immediate attempt to enter your body by placing a curse upon her very soul! She howls behind her mask as her form wavers; you sap her of magical ability, stopping her from hurting your allies, who begin to recover.

>>1055937

Taking advantage of this, you conjure up a spell and push her back into the room with the mirror, forcing her into the smaller confines.

Once she is back in the room, you hurl an arcane bolt at her, blasting her right in the chest. She screams as she attempts to come back out to attack you.

The next scream she lets out seems to shake the very foundations of the chamber. She emerges from the room as your companions all reel; you manage to remain standing. This spirit is constantly assaulting your group with area-affecting screams, keeping them from getting near her. Brutus falls down as Kay holds onto his sensitive elven ears. Ben remains standing, but he is struggling and cannot attack this powerful spirit.

At that moment, the dead body of the little girl crumbles to the floor. The spirit and its mask remain hovering in the air, and search for a body to possess... and it finds one in Merriam!

The mask flies down onto her face, and Merriam's body goes stiff.

"Mary... Don't hurt me, I'm your friend!" she says, her voice drawn out and somber.

As you struggle with the mask, you stand and end up in the mirror room. There, you shout as you attempt to get this thing off of your face.

"Join me... Join me... JOIN ME!"

"NEVER!"

You open your eyes wide in the mirror and smash your face into it, destroying both the mask and the artifact. The mask cracks around your face and the anchor of the spirit is destroyed, casting it back into its home plane.

The stones of the place shake as all the other spirits of the Redford family are released from their torment, vanishing into the nether.

'No... no, damn it!' you think as you look down at the mirror shards. 'I accidentally destroyed the mirror in my attempt to get that damn thing off my face! I wanted to preserve it, to study it, maybe even use it!'

Back in the other room, your companions are picking themselves up and checking on each other to make sure they are okay. Ben quickly helps up Merriam, who is dazed, and Brutus prods Kay with his hoof.

You pick up a shard of the reflective glass and stare into it, immediately nothing something strange.

Your hair is white. Not your real hair, your reflected hair.

As you examine this, the glass suddenly melts in your fingers. Not in a way that burns you, but then you notice all of the shards becoming like water and pooling together. The entire mirror bleeds off of the wall and onto the floor in a reflective puddle.

You stare at this surface, seeing yourself... or someone who looks like you. Her face is similar, but her eyes are bright green and her hair is snow white. You hold up your hand and see her do the same, as a reflection would.

Experimentally, you press your hand on the surface, and feel another person's hand! She grabs yours but does not pull. Rather, when you try to pull your hand back, she comes with you!

You pull her out of this strange mirror realm, and she seems to form out of the mirror itself; the more she emerges, the less mirror there is. Until finally you pull her out completely and she is brought into the mortal realm. You stare down at her.

"Who are you?" you ask.

"Faye," she replies in a voice that sounds just like yours. "Faye Le Scivias."

"Are you... me?"

She looks up and blinks her bright green eyes in confusion. "Am I? Are you me?"

For all we know she's just a weak empty shell that's only reflecting our physical appearance.

what if she is comptaly oppest to us?
>>
>>1056376
>>1056387

That's a lot of assumptions there buddy. All we know is that she looks like us.

Think with your head, not your murder boners.
>>
>>1056465

Because there is no objective way I am aware of to ascertain her true motives that don't come from a biased source (IE this person in particular standing before us who looks exactly like us)

As such, she has no incentive not to lie to our faces about literally everything and if her goals are in any way similar to our own she will seek to subjugate us and, again, in a timely manner, we can't ensure that isn't the case.

The safest route is removal and murder.
>>
>>1056465
I also think with things Damashi says on Discord, good sir. "Introducing our mirror universe twin."
>Probably implying she is very similar to us with some key differences..
>>
>>1056476
Or she could be our complete opposite and a pure selfless soul.

>>1056474
You could apply that logic to literally any person we meet. Anyone could be lying to us. Killing people out in the open, especially in front of our party, is generally not conducive to our goals.

Calmate.

"How can this be?" you ask as she helps herself up. "Some spell? Where are you from?"

"I am from Godrae," she replies. "And you?"

"Dragodia," you tell her the name of this nation. "Were you, by chance, apprentice to a great sorcerer?"

"Nadromax!" she says. "And you?"

"Mordrax," you reply.

"This is incredible," she says, reaching out to touch your hand. "We're like twins, from other worlds!"

'And that must mean... you are just as unable to trust me as I can trust you!' Your other hand prepares to turn into a knife with an arcane strike when Ben enters the room.

His jaw nearly drops. "What the... By the gods..."

Merriam and Kaylessa poke their heads around his shoulder. Their reactions are similar.

Within minutes, Faye explains herself completely. "And so I was framed for my master's crimes. I fled his tower, and only had time to grab one thing: a mirror. I didn't know what it did, but when I looked inside, I found myself in another world, like it sucked me in! I wandered across strange realms and places I couldn't begin to describe, when I saw this... doorway. I went to it, and found a mirror. Little did I know I was inside the mirror she just found!"

Kaylessa looks over. "Then... is this all true? You're actually Sirena Le Doux, the most wanted criminal in the country?"

You look over at him, knowing that he could very well be thinking of the reward on your head. "Yes..." With your very twin here, there is no point in disguising yourself. You reveal your true form, with your long lustrous black hair, fair skin and beautiful blue eyes. You look at your mirror; her short white hair and bright green eyes forming a contrast, but other than that you are the same. Fair skin and with a figure to die for.

"Did you two know?" he asks the siblings.

Ben and Merriam both nod. The young man looks at you and Merriam and asks, "Did you both know Kaylessa was... well, you know?'

You both nod.

Brutus, off in the corner, sits with his arms crossed, shaking his head. You can practically hear him thinking to himself, 'Mages.'

Kay sighs in frustration. "Great. Just great! Any other huge secrets we'd like to come spilling out right about now?"

"Kay, please understand, I've had to hide myself. I've been framed, just like my mirror says she was in her world." You pause for a moment. 'Wow, what a sentence that is.'

"Yeah, well, we'll see..." he mutters, standing up and walking off. "...I need to go think about some stuff."

Faye fidgits slightly. "Well, this is all a little awkward," she says. "You wouldn't happen to know the nearest parallel-dimension mirror home, would you?"

"I accidentally broke the last one," you groan.

Context denial of the highest order. You know this situation is completely different and one of a kind. With anyone else we can observer their surrounding situation. This person is literally from another world we cannot examine to see what made them the way they are in any fashion whatsoever.

Well, I guess we'll see how this turns out.

So, if we have sex with our mirror twin, does that count as Twincest or Narcissism? Hopefully we won't get turned into a flower if we try to kiss her.

Looks like Faye grabbed a mirror, while we took the coin. Should probably check to see what it actually does, now that we have a spell for it, but we keep forgetting.
>>

I think it's narcissism. Faye is Sirena from a parallel dimension, so she fills the exact same niche in her universe as we do in our universe.

You look at Merriam and ask her, "Please go follow him. Make sure he doesn't do anything drastic... try to explain things for me, please."

Knowing how good she is at getting people on her side, you send her on this task. She nods and moves off to follow him, leaving Ben and you with your twin.

Your twin... You look at her, looking up and down, amazed. She is you. You are her. But from two different, yet similar worlds...

"So... What schools of magic do you know?" you ask her.

"Most of my spells are from the schools of Restoration, Divination and Holy magic."

You blink. "That's nearly the opposite of me," you admit. "My earliest schools were Transmutation, Illusion and Necromancy."

Ben raises an eyebrow at that, but remains quiet.

"So you were framed by your wizard, who has plans to take over the kingdom?"

"Yes," you nod. "The same as yours?"

"Exactly!"

Ben asks her some questions about her world, and as she talks, you look at her. Could she truly be you, in nearly every form? She knows magic that is vastly different from your own, she studied very different schools. How alike you is she, truly? Does she scheme as you do? Burn with vengeance as you do? Is she as smart as you, as clever or manipulative?

Is she even telling the truth right now?

You are suddenly reminded of something. The truth serum... could you use it on yourself, metaphorically speaking?

"And that's how I escaped the city and made it into the woods despite knowing so few spells," she finishes her story which mirrors your own. She looks back to you. "By the gods, I just cannot believe how alike we are."

"That we are," you say, at least until you know better. "But now the question remains: what do you do?"

"If I'm wanted in my world, and you're wanted in your world, which is this world, then I'm wanted in this world as well," she works out. "So... the smart thing to do would be to not show my face. That's why you were in disguise, I take it?"

"Transmutation, cosmetics," you explain to her and she nods in understanding.

"I may not find a single other person in this world who understands my situation. So, assuming it wouldn't hurt... I want to stay here, with you. At least until I can find a way back to my world."

If we're going to do the truth serum bit, we must do it in absolute privacy and seclusion, away from everyone else. If she's in the same boat as us, then she might reveal that she was in on the plot to overthrow the crown in her world, and that would immediately cast suspicion on us by proxy.

The only person who deserves to know Sirena's deepest identity and secrets is not-Sirena.

So what are the opposites of Thralldom and Evocation? Even money that she knows things from said schools as well.

It's not exactly a perfect analogy. She probably knows Abjuration and Conjuration spells as well.
>>
>>1056706
Abjuration and i guess Divination ?
>>
>>1056710
Well, Restoration=> Transmutation
Restoring something to a previous state vs changing something into an altered state

Divination=> Illusion
Seeing the truth vs obfuscating it

Holy magic=> Necromancy
Nuff said.

the analogy is pretty solid thus far. But then, that's also why I said even money.

"Very well, you can stay," you tell her. She nods her head and thanks you as you both stand up. You look at Ben, who does the same, and say, "We should check the rest of the tower."

He nods and gathers Brutus to go investigate the upper levels. As you and Faye search around, you find yourself keeping an eye on her, and she does the same.

You wonder, is she just as suspicious of you as you are of her?

The tower is ghost-free. All other spirits have been successfully released from their torment, and you now control this property. This is made doubly true when you discover the owner's old belongings, including the deed to the land as well as a hefty family treasury. Kay keeps himself busy sorting that through.

It is only once you are alone with Faye in one of the lower rooms of the keep, with two comfortable chairs in front of an old fireplace that you can speak to her in private, with no prying ears. You strike up a fire and get the old logs burning as you and she both sit back in chairs.

"So," she begins.

"So."

"I think we can fully drop the act, now." She leans forward, her face losing its smile and growing serious. In the light of the fire, she takes on a different air entirely. "How far have you gotten?"

You can only assume she means about your quest for revenge. "This keep now belongs to me. I have allies who believe me about what happened."

"And what are they, really? Nothing but puppets?"

"Danging on my strings. They don't suspect a thing."

"Of course we both know better," she replies, crossing her legs. "We were going to rule together, our masters and us."

"Yes, we were."

"And now all we have is revenge." She leans back and smiles. "Sweet, sweet, sweet revenge."

"It's the only thing that keeps me breathing. It's what everything I do is in service towards."

"Exactly!" She clenches her hands into fists. "How dare he. How dare THEY! Kicking us out of our home, betraying our trust, destroying our reputation and status."

"I want to crush him," you reply with a smile. "I want to destroy him utterly, to break him, to drag him through the fires of hell and make him beg for death."

"I want to annihilate his legacy," she says with wide, manic eyes. "I want no one to ever know he existed at all. I want to make his very name forgotten by time and the gods themselves."

"I want to shove hot coals down his throat until he is stuffed."

"I want to watch him dangle at the ends of hooked chains."

"I want to make him drown in despair... and acid."

"I want to fire him out of a cannon into shark-infested waters!"

You both stare at each other for a moment, and burst into wicked, malevolently gleeful laughter.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" you ask her.

"Of course you are," she coyly replies.

"Our powers combined would be unstoppable. We should combine them."

"Take the best of you and the best of me and make a better whole!"

"Not that there's too much to improve on already."

She winks. "Don't we know it."

"I could teach you my spells."

"And I could teach you mine!"

"And when we return you to your world, you'll be more powerful there, and I'll be more powerful here."

"Yes," she nods. "I need as much of a boost as I can get! You've had more time in your world, this world, to establish yourself. Allies, a new home, and magic. All I have is magic that I learned journeying across the realms."

"What was that like, anyway?"

"Oh, terrible. On occasion. Do you have any idea how hard it is to look like we do and travel the realms? Every demon, tentacle monster, genie and eldritch horror was trying to sink their claws into me."

"What kinds of places did you go?"

"Let's see... There was the Sea of Immortality, the Well of Eternal Damnation, the Never-Ending Descent of Madness, the Gate of Unfathomable Torment, the Black Pit of Decay Incarnate and the Forest of Giant, Horrible, Soul-Eating Spiders."

"...I feel like you're fucking with me on that last one."

"It's an informal name," she says. "The spiders weren't very conversational."

"What did you learn in these places?"

"To protect myself! My holy magic and restoration spells kept me alive in places I would have died in. I also had to learn conjuration to gain mastery over my guides through the more elemental realms I visited."

She takes a moment to summon up four small elementals; fire, water, earth and wind.

"Aren't they just adorable?" she asks, petting the little earth-piggy.

"It sounds like your magic kept you alive in those places, while mine kept me hidden," you tell her. "If I learned your magic, I could keep myself alive in more dangerous locations and realms, and if you learned mine, you could better blend in and hide when you return, allowing you to build up a power base like I have."

"Yes," she says, banishing her elementals. "And then we can both have our terrible, sweet vengeance."

"There could be nothing better." You smile brightly at her, and she at you. "But, listen, I both know we can't trust myself unless there's something REALLY big on the line... so what do you think of helping each other make a trans-reality kingdom?"

"I was JUST going to suggest that!" she says, clapping her hands. "Imagine it... Two worlds, connected by a mirror, ruled by two queens. Or empresses!"

"Or gods," you whisper, and her eyes go wide as dinner plates.

"I just realized that I love you," she gasps.

"Of course you do," you reply with a wide grin. "There's no one I love more than myself."

With your twin in tow, you bring her to the siblings, Ben and Merriam, to properly introduce them to her.

"Nice to be met," she says, shaking their hands. She bats her eyelashes at Ben. "My, you're a handsome one. Such a strong, strapping young man. You wear that armor nicely."

"Ah, thank you, uh, Faye," he replies sheepishly. It reminds you of how he reacted when you first flirted with him.

She then looks at Merriam. "And you, so lovely! I love your rosy cheeks." She reaches up and gently touches him, which surprises her as well.

"T-thank you?"

You leave both of them as Faye giggles and waves goodbye at them. Once they are out of earshot, she leans over and asks, "So, which one?"

"Both."

"Both?! How scandalous," she teases as she touches your shoulder. "So, separately, or at once?"

"Seperately," you reply casually. You then cast her a sidelong glance. "...So far."

Next is Kay, who is busy with the loot. "Kaylessa, this is Faye. My mirror twin."

"Yes, I remember, Sirena," he says, putting a bit of a venomous sting on that last word.

"So you're a boy?" she asks.

He sighs. "I'm a bit busy..."

It seems Merriam's talk has kept him around, but he could use some space. You take her out of the room.

"He's a work in progress," you tell her. "It's always difficult when they first learn who I am. I mean, who we are."

"It's okay, I understand."

Outside, you discover Brutus, who is cleaning up corpses. "This is Brutus," you explain. "Our minotaur friend."

"My, you're a big one!" she says, bowing to him. "Nice to meet you, Brutus."

"Two now," he mutters. "Was just getting used to only one of you."

Once back inside the tower, Faye smiles as she leans up against the wall. "You've done well, Sirena. I like your companions." She leans in close. "Which one can I have first?"

"Excuse me?"

"Well, come on. I've been stuck in a mirror for weeks now. I want some of what you have." She takes a step closer. "Not afraid of sharing with yourself, are you?"

"Our little dialogue is cute and all, but those people are mine," you tell her.

"But could what's yours be mine and what's mine could be yours?" she asks. "Surely we can work out some manner of arrangement. I'm sure you must know what I mean when I say that I yearn for contact. I burn for it. I'm sure you did as well."

'Well, she knows me alright,' you think, remembering the night you took Ben.

"Just for the night?" she asks with pouting lips.

"Please. You think I would give you anyone before having you myself?" you ask, pinning her up against the wall. She gasps as your chests rub up against each other.

"You should say that to yourself," she replies. "You'd be surprised how much it applies..."

"I've had enough of this playing around," you say as your cheeks burn red and your heart races. "I've never wanted anyone more than I want myself."

"Gods, yes," she says, diving in to kiss you. The fiery kiss erupts with passion within you both; a desire to get in touch with your inner self like never before. Your hands and hers grab and rip at each other's clothing, desperate to strip and let out the heat in your bodies.

The level of passion surprises you both as you claw at each other like animals, both of you drinking in the other's form. She is you; just like you. The same curves, the same giant bust, the same feelings and sensations as you in all the familiar places. You have never held a more perfect body in your arms, for it is your own, and the same goes for her. You feel almost drunk in self-indulgence, wallowing in your desire to touch her, to feel her, to please and be pleased. Soon the two of you end up on the floor in front of the fire, sweaty bodies rolling around as you grope, touch, kiss, suck and lick. The fire nearby is nothing compared to the red, hot, burning desire to fuck yourself.

As she kisses you in your favorite spot while touching you exactly how you want to be touched, you realize that she is the perfect lover. She knows you better than you know yourself. She knows how to touch you, and where and when, and for how long. Each bite is in the right spot, each kiss and lick perfectly timed, when to be soft and when to be rough; every moment is a new bliss brought about by a unison of harmonious self-love.

And the night has only just begun.

>Lewd, and then sleep...

You awaken feeling with a satisfied smile on your face, covered in a bearskin rug. "Mmmm... was it good for me?" you joke.

No response.

You feel around for your new perfect lover and find that she is gone. You sit up and look around, but she is nowhere to be found. Neither are her clothes.

"Oh... Shit."

You get dressed and go upstairs. Ben, Merriam and Kay all found beds in which to sleep in the tower, but Faye is nowhere to be found. Brutus snores up against a tree outside, but she isn't out there, either.

After waking them all up, you organize a search party. The entire tower and keep is swept, top to bottom.

She is gone.

"What the hell happened?!" you shout, burying your hands in your hair. "Where could she be?"

"Maybe she went home to her dimension?" Kay offers.

"Or she left the tower!" you say. "In a countryside of people looking for her, for ME!"

"Well, weren't you keeping an eye on her?" he replies.

"I was! She left while we were asleep."

"If you call that sleeping..." the elf mutters, having apparently heard some of your narcissistic lovemaking last night.

You cast your farsense and start looking in all directions, focusing on things in the distance. Wherever she went, however, she left a while ago; she is beyond your range of magical sight.

You blink before realizing, "Of course! You can track! Do your tracker thing. Track her, tracker!"

He rolls his eyes. "I'll get right on that, ma'am." As he begins to search the area, you run up to the other three. "Get geared up. I can't afford to let her get us into trouble!"

"You mean get YOU into trouble," Ben points out.

"Hey, we're all in this together, alright?" you reply. "Aren't we a team? Didn't we all agree to go on this journey together and stop Mordrax?"

Ben and Merriam both nod. "I did not," Brutus speaks up.

"Well you are now," you tell him. "So go on! I can't have my mirror twin running around. You KNOW that's a bad idea."

"She IS right," Merriam says to her brother. "Come on. Let's go."

As they turn to the tower to get their gear, Kaylessa speaks up. "I got it! She went east, to the road."

'The road? Out in the open, highly visible? Oh, gods, I know I'm not that stupid.' You run up to the elf. "Where from there?"

Once Ben and Merriam leave the tower, you say to them, "Go to Bridge Town. See if my twin is there. We think she went in that direction last night."

"What about the tower?" Ben asks. "I mean, we need proof that we got rid of the ghosts."

"Hm? Oh, right." You take out the deed and hand it to him. "Here, show them this. That'll be proof."

"Alright!" he smiles. "Now we can get Uncle Jed elected."

'The election,' you suddenly remember. 'Gods, I had forgotten entirely!'

Ben puts the deed away and smiles at you. "Thank you, Mary."

"Sirena," Kay calls out from nearby, correcting him.

"Stop using that name!" you tell him.

"Then go back in disguise!" he shouts back.

'He's getting very uppity,' you think as you reapply your Mary disguise. 'I might need to do something about that.'

Ben and Merriam head off towards Bridge Town, leaving you, Brutus and Kaylessa.

Returning to the tower, you search through your belongings.

Everything is where it should be.

Except the coin.

You search all over for it; perhaps it slipped from one pouch into another, maybe you put it in the wrong pocket, but it is gone, simply gone.

'Stolen... That cunt! That bitch! That white-haired, pixie-cut, green-eyed slut! She took my coin! And she LEFT me!' You nearly rip you dress in anger. 'Well, now I know what it feels like to be used.'

At that moment, Kaylessa walks in. "Hey."

You look up at him. "Oh... Hello."

"I can see you're busy, I'll leave you to it."

You pause for a moment, then go after him. "Kay! Wait!"

You catch him in the hall of the keep. He looks up at you, slightly wary. "Yes?"

"Listen, I... I'm sorry for what I've done to you. You must be terribly confused." You guage his reaction before continuing, "I know I lied to you. I apologize for that. Someone in my position has to do it to survive... But, then again, I think we both know a thing or two about wearing a disguise in front of others."

His expression softens. "Yeah. That's one of the reasons I didn't leave to turn you in."

'Good, I'm getting through to him.' You reach for his hand and take it. "Kay, please understand. I care about you, and the others. I know things may seem strange right now, but I promise you, I have no more big secrets to spill."

He remains still for a moment as he listens to you and your heartbeat. Finally, he relents. "Alright, Mary... Sirena... Whatever you prefer. I believe you. Maybe I'm just a fool, but... I like you." He holds your hand with both of his. "Good or bad, I've never met anyone like you, and I don't want to lose you over some kind of misunderstanding."

You smile and step closer to him, placing your hands on his face. "I knew you'd understand. I had to hide who I was, like you did. And this morning, when Faye left me, I felt... I don't know. Like I had been used."

"It's not great," he whispers.

"But this is," you whisper back as you kiss him. He blushes and tilts his head as you embrace in the hall, holding one another. He kisses you back in ernest, holding you gently as your tongues brush against each other. 'This should keep you in line for a while. I must remember to occasionally reinforce myself with my companions. Ben has been growing distant... perhaps it has been too long. I need to remind him of who the woman in his life truly is.'

As you kiss him, your next thought concerns what you should do until you hear back from Ben and Merriam.

>Capture Spirit: Once a spirit is weak enough through any other means, you can focus and capture a spirit within an item. This item must be within reach or held, and can take nearly any form, from a gemstone to a suit of armor. You force the spirit to take residence within this inanimate object, which cannot be possessed by two spirits at a time. When you do this, you determine the nature of its imprisonment, including how it can be released and under what circumstances it can use portions of its power; essentially, you dictate how it haunts the item and how much freedom it has. If the item is destroyed, the spirit will be released regardless.

Having learned quite a few things from your encounter with the ghosts, you endeavor to learn more, in case you can capture them for later use. The ghosts in this tower are already gone, but there could always be more that you encounter later.

It is late in the afternoon when you hear the sounds of a horse outside of your tower. Going to the window, you see Merriam riding up with all haste.

"Mary!" she calls out. "Mary, it's terrible!"

"What is it?"

"The election... Uncle Jed lost!"

You lean more out of the window. "What? How can this be? Didn't you guys tell everyone what happened?"

"We did! We made sure everyone knew, and it seemed like lots of people were going to vote for him. But then the ballots were counted, and Angello DeVille won in a massive landslide! Nearly every vote in the town went to him!"

It doesn't take a genius to figure out what this means. "He cheated."

"Of course he did! But nobody knows how. The ballots were all kept in the public eye! Nobody tampered with them!"

"Unless someone with magic did so," you mutter. Suddenly, you begin to suspect where Faye went. "Where is Ben now?"

"With Uncle Jed. They're trying to come up with a plan to stop what's happened, a recount, a re-election, something."

Leaving Brutus and Kay behind, you ride with Merriam to Bridge Town. As you arrive, the new mayor, Mr. DeVille, is giving a speech to the town population. The charismatic, swarthy man is up on on wooden stage, speaking with wide, gesticulating motions.

"Now I reckon that my opponents might be mighty displeased with this outcome. I assure you, and them, that I am honestly just as surprised. But, I must admit, my heart has been touched by y'all's faith in me. So! As my first decree, assumin' office today before you fine folks here at Bridge Town, that I will personally fund each of my opponent's public interest projects."

There are murmurs throughout the crowd. Angello suddenly adds, "As soon as my new casino, the Rollin' Bones, is built and starts generatin' a profit! For my second decree, no man shall be persecuted for the crime of gamblin'. It is a man's right to waste all o' his fortune on chance! Ain't no crime in it!"

"I envision a bright new future for Bridge Town. A future tha--," That's when he takes out a coin -- YOUR coin -- and flips it. It catches it and checks which side it landed on. "--you can bet on." Then, suddenly, the crowd roars with cheers and cries of support! People throw their hats into the air and dance in the street.

Your jaw nearly drops.

'I can't believe my eyes...'

Angello puts the coin away in his breast pocket, tips his wide-brimmed hat, lights up a long and thin cigar and heads into his new office.

It doesn't take long to find Jed. He, Amanda Lightguard and Lucia Rose are all discussing the election in a local tavern.

"It makes no sense!" Lucia says. "It seemed like you were a shoe-in to win, Jed."

Amanda, her arms folded in front of her, adds, "I wouldn't have minded losing to you. I would have done so gracefully. But this Angello figure... something is wrong. The whole thing stinks."

You and Merriam approach. Ben, at Jed's side, sees you coming and walks over. "Mary, it's awful. Somehow the entire town just... changed their mind at the poll!"

"Could this have been some kind of mind control?" you ask.

"I would have sensed it," Amanda says. "As a paladin of the First Faith, I wanted to ensure everything was absolutely right, so I drew a circle of divine protection around the voting poll. No one could have been controlled, which makes this all the more troubling..."

The teacher speaks up. "Well, he said he would fund our projects, didn't he?"

Jed shakes his head. "After opening a casino! Inviting gamblers and prostitutes and all manner of low-lifes into the community."

Amanda nods in agreement. "It will attract degenerates like bees to honey."

You look around. "Say, what about that dwarf?"

"He's already switched camps," Ben says. "Angello hired him to work on his riverboat."

"It just makes no sense," Jed says. "The people CHOSE him. But nobody in their right mind would have, but they were in their right mind! It makes no sense."

"Did any of you see him flpping a coin?" you ask.

"As a matter of fact, yes," Amanda reports. "Non-stop, as a matter of fact. Just casually, but over and over. It's all he did while people lined up to vote."

"You don't think that had anything to do with it, did you?" Ben asks.

You fold your arms and think.

Jed downs a mug. "Well, unless we think of something and quick, we're going to have to get used to the idea of Mayor DeVille."

"Legally, I cannot arrest him," Amanda says. "Until wrongdoing has been proven, it cannot be done."

Merriam suggests, "Should we sneak into his office and look for evidence?"

Amanda gives her a stern glare. "I do NOT condone breaking into a public official's private property." She then leans forward and whispers, "...Openly. Do you think it could be done?"

"Oh, it most definitely could," you reply. "And I think I know someone in that office, right now..."

You pull Ben and Merriam off to the side. "That's my coin he was flipping. Faye stole it from me and gave it to him!"

"Why?" Ben asks, confused.

"I don't know! I never even knew what it did, but apparently it is something. Faye's thrown in with this Angello, and I intend to get to the bottom of her."

All he'll know is that the coin suddenly flew towards a barrel then a bunch of random people bumped into him and the barrel disappeared. When he goes to look for it, he'll find nothing and no one, because we slipped away in another direction.

Farsense is only a range-expansion.
If you have a direct line of sight but your sight is too bad to see that far, then it's useful. (Also works with hearing).
It doesn't allow you to see through walls or beyond corners.

Though we could try listening to the windows with this extended sense to hear what our eviler twin has to say!
You've got my vote anon.

So why aren't we just trying to make connections with Angelo?

Mostly because he has our coin and is allied with Faye.
And we want to take the coin and banish/destroy Faye.

Also, kissing his ass will hurt our relationship with the Cutter siblings. Ruining our chance at an incestuous threesome.

>>

Because:
>We are linked to the Cutter and Diggers family now, and would lose wealthy allies if we happened to lose their support, which would also include Ben and Merriam.
>The people of Bridge Town is not going to let Angelo be mayor anyways, they are going to sort it out, so why not gain some reputation?
>We are firmly opposed to Faye's plans, as she started them without telling us and by stealing our stuff.
>We don't want to attract the national guard for elections corruption investigation motives.
>We have been investing too much into the Cutters stuff to let it down.

Not long later, you are spying on the outside of the mayor's office building. It seems Angello already has a ready staff of men who are helping to carry out furniture, but he has all the blinds in the building drawn.

Extending your farsense to one of the nearby windows, you focus intently and try to listen in. The dialogue is muffled, but you can just barely make out a man and a woman talking.

"So, when can we expect her?"

"You just have to wait for her to finish consulting with her allies. Trust me, she'll be instrumental in making this thing blow over."

"Does she always take this long?"

"I thought you were a patient man."

"I'll have time for patience later, once I'm set in my office and I have more of my associates around me."

"Just give her some time. If I know her as well as I do, she's currently watching this building and assessing her next move. Right now, she's trying to figure out of I've betrayed her. Once the three of us sit down and talk, she'll understand."

Merriam, who is next to you, asks, "What did you hear?"

"Interesting things," you vaguely reply.

"I'm going in," you tell her. "Wait here for me."

"Mary! Are you sure?"

"Trust me." As you walk towards the office, you think to yourself, 'Not that I ever would, apparently.'

Once at the front door, you knock. A man opens it and looks down at you. "You Mary?"

"I am."

"Boss is ready for you. Right this way, ma'am." He opens the door for you and leads you to his office; the very same office you once kicked the pig mayor out of. He knocks on that door and then opens it, indicating for you to step inside.

You step inside to behold Angello sitting behind a desk and smoking a cigar with his feet on the table as he leans back in his chair, next to Faye, who sits cross-legged on the corner of the desk with a nail file. She looks up and smiles. "Mary! You're finally here. I've been waiting!"

She hops over and gives you a big hug and a kiss on the cheek, which catches you very offguard. "I hope you're not too angry at me," she says with a smile. "I know how much you don't like surprises."

Angello stands up and gives you a smile as he reaches out with his hand to shake your own. "Ma'am. I'm Mr. DeVille, but you can call me Angello. Angel, if you'd prefer it." He winks and then takes out the coin -- your coin, from his pocket. "And it's my understanding that I have you to thank for this."

He then places it in your palm and closes your hand around it. "Much obliged for your gift, my lovely dear. I surely can promise you that it won't be a waste." He then looks at Faye and says, "And as for you, Sirena, I appreciate your help as well in bringing us together."

You blink for a moment, stupified, your eyes going from Faye to Angello and then back again as you start to piece all of this together. 'He called her Sirena... gave me back my coin... and thanked me?'

I don't care how she tries to justify this, we still need to get rid of her, permanently.
She's too much of an untrustworthy wild card.

Slowly, you sit down in front of his desk with 'Sirena' sitting alongside you. He returns to the back of his desk and sits down. When he does so, he snaps his fingers, and in the blink of an eye his skin is red, his eyes are yellow and he has two large horns sticking out of his back.

"I do hope my appearance and devilish good looks don't upset you none, my dear," he says with a smile of perfect white teeth. "Where I come from, standards of beauty are only slightly different from yours."

"No," you shake your head. "You're the first devil I've met, though."

"Goodness, what a standard that will be," he chuckles, obviously very full of himself. You're in good company. "So, now that the three of us are here, shall we discuss business?"

"Yes, most definitely," Faye says. "Angello has a plan that's going to make us a lot of money."

"Us?"

"Well, we bought him the election," Faye points out. "From his new position, he'll be able to turn Bridge Town into one of the most profitable locations along this trade route."

"That's right," he smiles. "This poor little town is just RIPE with opportunity. I know it wasn't coincidence that it led to us meetin' up like this. Now, I know y'all know each other better, but it's my hope that we can all work together towards mutual gain."

Playing along, you lean back and ask, "What's your plan?"

"Well, the casino, of course, but that's just the big, shiny distraction. I have a number of business associates from various locations, investers if you will, who can bring a lot of money into this town. How that money is spent, counted, organized and handed out is where the real opportunity lies."

"And this won't attract attention?"

"Oh, it will. I want it to! That's the point of a casino. But it, and the eventual adjacent marketplace, will allow us to turn Bridge Town into Bridge City! Or some other name. Not too crazy about it, if I'm being honest."

Faye waves her hand. "Names don't matter. What matters is results."

"Exactly," he smiles. "And results begin tonight. I plan on bringing in my staff. Once we remove the more problematic portions of the community and begin replacing the guards with our own hires, the town will well and truly be ours."

"So, we'll split the money from the casino?"

"Well, with a house edge," he smiles. "Fifty-twenty-five-twenty-five. With other benefits, of course; trade, land, protection, government assistance programs, taxes. All manner of things that we can make a profit from."

"And who exactly are your staff? Those investors you mentioned, who are they?"

"Friends," he smiles. "Well, more like long-term employees of mine from far away, bound by contract. As for my investors, well, I have a lot of income from a lot of different people. Past business associates, nobles, that kind of thing. Let's just say that I have a lot of influence in a lot of differnet places."

Faye jumps in now. "I've already settled on some of our negotiations. The mayor has approved us as the new owners of the tower, and the land is going to come tax-free."

Angello takes out a pen and starts writing on parchment. "What else?"

Faye looks at you expectently.

"Well, I already am in co-ownership of Digger Mine with the new head of their household," you mention.

"Fantastic," Angello replies. "That will make that much easier. I plan on buying both the Cutter and Digger land so that they work directly for me."

"You plan to put them out of a job?"

"No, in fact I would pay them quite well to keep doing what they're doing, better than before even. The Diggers provide metal and the Cutters provide wood, and they will form the cornerstone of building and expanding Bridge Town, namely my casino."

"And what about the well?"

He shrugs. "Ah, yes, of course. The magic well. I plan on bottling it and selling it for a profit."

"Just like the previous mayor? He didn't end up so well."

"He made a very poor contract," Angello smiles. "I don't make bad contracts. I make contracts with bad people."

Putting both hands on the arms of the chair, you push yourself up. "Mr. DeVille -- Angello -- if you would, please, give me a moment with my business associate."

He nods, and you and Faye walk to another room and close the door. Almost immediately you are in her face with a pointing finger. "What the HELL do you think you're doing?!"

"What?" she says in an innocent tone. "I'm helping."

"This is NOT helping. Making a deal with an actual devil? The hell is wrong with you?"

"Excuse me, but I just spent the last two weeks travelling through different realms and dealing with much worse than him," she counters. "I think I know how to handle a devil by now."

"I woke up and you were gone. My coin was gone. I come to down and the election, WHICH I HAD PLANS FOR, is now no longer in my favor."

"This is to your favor!" she tries to convince you. "Look, just let me explain. Last night, I felt the presence of the devil in Bridge Town. I snuck out and met up with him, learning about what he wanted to do with the town, and I decided to help him because he has connections in other realms that could further my journey home, and leave you with a lot of money!"

"And you couldn't have done this without telling me WHY?"

"I wanted it to be a surprise," she says, placing her hands over yours. "I thought you would like it, because I like it. Why do you not?"

"Because I was going to set up the Cutters as having control of this region."

"The Cutters? Why?" she asks, genuinely confused. "I don't understand. They're just loggers."

"Unremarkable and not worth looking into. Do you have ANY idea how much attention this casino and skeptical election is going to bring down on our heads?"

"But the benefits are so much more obvious!" she argues. "Money, power, friends in high places in other worlds. That's what we can get with Angello!"

"You did this BEHIND MY BACK. I don't care if it was a surprise, this is MY world. If I was in your world, I wouldn't mess up YOUR plans."

"I just can't understand why you'd favor the Cutters. I know you're sleeping with the man's nephew and niece, but come on! Is that what this is really all about? How good can they be?"

As for the Cutters they are country simpletons which we already have wrapped around our little finger, they don't have great and far reaching ambitions but the ones we plant in their heads. We don't want capital attention in this area and there is already a Paladin who is suspicious of the election results. This is too much rocking the boat Faye.

That said, overall, nice job getting this set up so quickly I am legitimately impressed by the fact you got this done in a night. And do you know what the coin does?

This devil obviously wants to breed vice and sin; that is literally his job in the cosmos. But we'll need law and order in the town, and the people's needs for education and betterment can't be ignored. I don't see why we can't convince him to invest in the future of the town.

As for the Paladin, we can probably tell /her/ that the coin is cursed, but Angelo didn't know about it and just thought it would add to his charisma and appeal. We could tell her that, in truth, it grants a persons desire but eventually causes them to go insane or lose everything they have.

You bring up a hand and put it on her lips. "If you're sorry, you'll help me get rid of this problem you've created. We have to be careful, because now he knows 'Sirena' by name and about our tower..."

"In a way that allows us to be heroes, right?"

"Precisely."

But there's no need to throw away all of your hard work, let's renegotiate, blame all of this on a "cursed" coin that we will be taking into safe keeping driving his ambitions out of proportion, he steps down for a smooth transition of power, Jeb lets him open a casino for a cut of the profits going to the town fund. He stays out of the way, we make sure the laws don't get restrictive, and Angello gets to spread influence elsewhere. Seems like a winning deal all around.

We were doing just peachy before she showed up and she's caused nothing but trouble.

I don't believe that she's sincere and I don't believe that there is anything we can do to change that.
She is just as selfish as we are, if not moreso, and a very big liability to our cause.

She's literally the stranger who busts into a group of close friends and says "Ayy erybody! What about me? Huh? I wanna join ur group! I wanna share your loot and booty! Pay attention to me!!"
Except then she stabs you in the back and takes everything you own and says "pssh, nuthin' personnel kid", before teleporting away.
>>
>>1062321

If he steps out of line yeah, honestly I would be pumped to play a purely good campaign in the universe after Sirena is done setting everything up, it's always more difficult to worm out Evil types once they have gotten settled behind benign government officials and bureaucracy. I think that if we do it right the Devil is going to see that this is the better way forward anyways, hell he can even open up a chain of casinos that could be a network for a Thieves Guild of some sort

I don't think logic works that way.
She is another person that has the same genetics, intellect and personality. (i.e. selfish and ambitious, control-freak)
Sirena would understand what an enormous threat that poses.
Especially since she called her out on spying at the office.
>>
>>1062434

Only if we try to stuff her out of the way or remove her, if we keep her in on our plans and vise versa we can be our best allies, hence why I don't want to scrap the work she's already done

"I'm not sure what to do, though," you say after a moment. "Part of me wants to let him into office so we can wait for an opportune time to take him out, but the longer we let him stay in the office the firmer-entrenched he will become. We may not have a more opportune time than now."

"Do you think we could? Our combined power might be able to defeat him."

"But then we'd get all the attention. I'm thinking of letting the paladin do it."

"But if she defeats him, she might become mayor instead of who you want, what with the public relations boost she'll receive."

"You have a point. But I don't think Ben and Merriam and the others can defeat this foe, either. He may be too powerful..."

"Well, perhaps we could get in good with the paladin," Faye suggests, raising and lowering her eyebrows suggestively.

"What do you mean?"

"Oh, come on. Don't tell me you can't tell. Do you have any idea how easy it would be to seduce her?"

"She's a PALADIN."

"And I can tell just from looking at her that her second love, other than god, is dominating women. I'm almost jealous of how much cloistered cunt she's probably feasted on... Gods, imagine it: growing up in tight quarters with only other female paladins to relieve stress with..."

"Faye..."

She blushes and bites her finger. "Sorry! Got a little carried away."

"It's alright, I like your thinking. Maybe we can use it, but I'm just not sure how much I can wrap a paladin around my finger like I've done with the others."

"I know what I want to do," you say. "But first, let's get you disguised."

After changing her hair, eyes and face, and getting her some new clothes, you put your plan into action.

After sneaking out of the mayor's office and gathering up your allies, you explain to Jed what is happening and who and what Angello really is. From here, he speaks to the paladin Amanda, and from here you get Ben to go along with her.

They confront Angello in the mayor's office and a battle ensues. You, Faye and the others prepare to jump in and help, but then a great noise is heard from within the building along with a flash of light. Amid smoke and mist, Ben and Amanda emerge, heroes who slew the devil.

Amanda announces to the crowd, "It is by no mistake that the fiend won the election. Before we slew him, he muttered a name, 'Sirena!' The wanted witch who fled from the capital! She assisted him. We know not where she is, but rest assured, we will find her!"

Ben remains silent, knowing the truth. You can see the conflict within him as people cheer for him.

That afternoon, a new poll is held, and Jed wins by a very narrow margin. Amanda is disappointed, but accepts her defeat this time with grace. With a Cutter as the head of the town, your original plan has come full circle at last, albeit with one or two hiccups. Faye is happy that your plan has worked, though the results will be less immediate and subtler in nature.

How to celebrate?

Alright, we'll focus on Ben. It's been a good minute since he's gotten some lovin' and he'll need to be brought back under our wing. In the meantime, we'll send Faye off to see if she can make something happen with Amanda.

Sorry if everything seemed to resolve quickly; I would've made more posts but I'm due for a Shadowrun game that's going to start soon.

I'll call it there for this thread. Thanks for playing, everyone. Join me in the upcoming weekend for Mortal Kombat Konquest.

I've come to the realization that we could use some new Mage robes.

That's the first thing we got back when we talked to him. He explicitly handed it back to us.
>>

Kinda makes you wonder if he just gave us an illusory counterfeit or drained its power.

Also this >>1062839
>he could have replaced Amanda, or maybe crafted an illusion of his death and escaped. We could be in deep shit.
We should ask Ben for his eye-witness account of the attack.
That flash of light and smoke sounds like a classic disappearing act.

Also, also this>>1063732
Get rid of her before she causes more trouble.
Anyone who trusts her is either a fool or a liar.
Anyone who thinks we need to keep her around hasn't properly weighed out the risks&rewards of the situation. We don't need her. We were doing just fine without her.

If we absolutely must be nice to her, then lets take her up to Francis asap and send her home with the Codex.
Making sure we warn Francis so he doesn't fall for her tricks.

Plus we can always try to steal *her* starting item when we get rid of her.
>>
>>1064380
>Plus we can always try to steal *her* starting item when we get rid of her.
Her starting item was the mirror, which is how she got trapped in the dimension in the first place
>>
>>1064389
Hm..
But was it the same mirror we smashed? I though that was like a large dresser mirror. Maybe she had a hand mirror that she used to travel into the mirror world and escaped thru the big one we smashed.

So was she possessing the dead girl?

Or did you all already figure this out in discord?
>>
>>1064454
The hand mirror is what she used to get to the planes, where she was trapped. Our mirror was supposedly a door that she saw.
>>
>>1064458
Ah, so she got sucked into the hand mirror, leaving it behind on the floor somewhere.
I was thinking we could snatch it if she still had it, but then she wouldn't be stuck here.
Unless she's lying about that part.

Geez, the more I think about it, the more killing her sounds like a good idea.
We just need to make sure she can't buff herself.
>>
>>1064470
We have two choices:
>Not teaching her the best offensive spells we have (curse, life drain, arcane strike).
>Relying on our team to take over us when it is opportune, considering we have equal powers after trading knowledge.

>Not teaching her the best offensive spells we have
Only to have her do the exact same thing and withhold her best defensive spells, teaching us only what we can easily learn from normal tutors.

Besides, you forgot the third choice:
>Write-in
>Send her home peacefully and wish her luck in her home world.

She is not a blessing, she is a disaster waiting to happen.
Sirena is a control-freak. She does not like to share power, she does not like to be second-best and she does NOT like rogue elements that can potential interfere with her carefully made plans.
Sirena knows herself better than anyone, and knows that Faye feels the exact same way.

They will not work well together. It is only a matter of time before they start stepping on each others toes until one gets frustrated and betrays the other. So it may as well be us.
Let's nip it in the bud and get her out of our hair asap.

Never in any story about twins from parallel worlds has it ever ended well.
>>
>>1066215
I mostly agree.
Except she is probably less than a "normal tutor". Though she probably has a nice uncommon spell or two, that's right.
Except we don't even know how to send her back, it could take ages (+ resources).
>>
>>1066390
>Except we don't even know how to send her back
Codex Arcana
If there was ever a time to see what this thing is capable of it's now.
>>
Okay guys, I've read through all of this and now I'M pretty sure of a few things:
We need to be careful with Ben.
We should've stabbed our mirrorself the moment we had the chance to.
We probably have the worst ally we could possibly have and simultaneously the best enemy.
We should reinforce our thralldom, as in right now.
We should choose one of our midst we can offer to her, the least useful one would be optimal.
We should find a way to make her our thrall.

The things we have going for us are scrying and control resistance, not quiet sure what she has, but I think it will fit her theme of survival over subterfuge.

The other far more pleasing option is... well the ultimate alliance. As in add her knowledge and mastery to our powerbase. The only way I see we both gain a significant advantage without needing to fear each other screwing each other over is tearing down the very ability to keep things secret from another.
Yes, I am thinking some kind of mindmeld spell. We'd essentially become a geater version of ourselves with the added bonus of getting another world to conquer and maybe becoming the dominnt one in that relatioship due to our acquired resistance.
>>
>>1066541
Come on Discord for more advanced debating mate!
I agree that Faye is a threat right now.
And we also have to be careful about Ben, he's doubly suspicious and disliked being out of the I-am-a-boy confidence.

Though we can't face the vampire dude before knowing some abjuration, he could influence us beyond our consent...

The real question right now is: do we take the risk of having Faye by our side to grind new spells, or do we get rid of her asap? I think we have enough teachers to drop her, but this is arguable.
>>
Any way we can prod notSirena into dishing on the nature of the coin? What it does, how she knew, and how it ended up in the devil's hands.

Also... how do we know we got back the real coin?
>>
>>1066541
Agreed but I think, considering her protection spells, even making her a thrall would be dangerous.
>>1066599
I agree here that we should off her asap.

>Though we can't face the vampire dude
I think our relationship with Albert will keep us safe for long enough to learn what we want from him.
Plus he's supposed to an NPC tutor, having him dominate us would be a dick move.

>>1067836
Simple, Let's flip it and see what happens
>>
what do you guys think is gonna happen when Brutos find his son on Boris?
>>
>>1072448
exactly
We haven't addressed it yet because we need to get rid of Faye, but I think we'll have to let Brutus guard the tower or let him go off on his own. Unless we want to seduce him.
That or just never visit elder grey and never use super-Boris.

As much as he dislikes mages, I half expect him to get fed-up and leave at some point tbth.
>>
>>1072557
I think we just need something to hold his attention, and to make sure that our behavior and goals aren't totally different from his own.

For example, if we use Super-Boris on some really difficult job, where people will spread rumors of an undead bull-monster, we can then tell Brutus that Mordrax, or one of his lackeys, may have stolen and reanimated the remains of his son.
>>
>>1076147
that's a good idea, the use him as bait he will become more aligned with our true goal, revenge
