>The story continues...
New Horizons Lunar Colony, Colonial Governor's Office
"Look, I might've gone for it, but you're saying you'll kill Carla if I don't do it and you'll kill Carla if I do it. Isn't that a bit insane?" he shows you a small vial with some weird blue liquid in it.
"This will wake both of them up. If you do it, if you do it - now - I'll let you give them a minute to run away. You have the certainty of their death or buying them a shot at survival"
He's switching his aim between all three of you frantically, his voice is breaking a bit. His nerves won't hold much longer, the emotions he's been holding back for so long will explode soon.
You've probably only got a few more minutes to talk before the situation is completely out of control. Not that it already isn't out of control. He waves the gun at you. "So what is it?"
Taking a second to look at Carla you notice the small wound on her neck, as if she was stabbed with a needle. Sarah is in a similar spot with a dart on her neck. He might be truthful,
but then again is sacrificing yourself worth it? There could be a way out of this, through violence or through dialogue. Specially since he can't activate the bomb remotely anymore.
"Look Doc, at least let me say goodbye to the ot-" he interrupts you brusquely. "Won't work. I sabotaged your communicator" your eyes widen, he fucked with your - gear -, the monster?.
"When the hell did you have time to do that?" Doc rolls his eyes "Considering you spend half your damn time fucking around with Carla I had plenty of time alone with your things"

"You sure we should be moving this truck, Sarge?" the man shakes his head "No. Never sure, but Duke got us here, we can't possibly let Phil do this crap, it'll be the end of all of us"
"Are you sure it's Phil? I mean, he went berserk back there but I've never seen his eyes like that" the two men stop to identify themselves at the gate before moving on.
"I'm not sure what happened but we need to take this bomb the hell outta here. Julius said it's remote detonator is already disarmed but we can't risk leaving it in the open"
Gomez checks his rifle again "Let's hope Phil comes to his sense then, I'd hate to have to shoot him. He's a good friend y'know?"
"Odds are he'd shoot you before you could even see him coming, that's why we're in a goddamn truck and not carrying it on foot" both men laugh.
"So, did Carla or Doc contact you? I'm worried ever since they went looking for Phil" Gomez shakes his head "Didn't contact you either huh? Damn"
-
You look to the doctor. His rage welling up "Decide, now!"
>Look, your plan won't work. Detonator is fucked

>Ask him about the other agents

"Look, your plan won't work. The detonator is fucked" he grabs the remote and holds it before you "Not gonna-" he presses the button. Then he presses it again and again, eventually he slams it on the desk.
"You bloody-" suddenly his attention turns to the governor's computer, he messes with it for a bit then exclaims "How the hell did you contact them?" you begin approaching to see what he's on about,
but he points the gun to you once more. "I don't know how you got those two to help you, but you'll do what I asked or I'll put a bullet into these girls' heads" he eyes, his mouth is twitching and you think he's about to snap.
After a moment of doing nothing he shoots the governor in the head a single time before rushing to the door. You move to try and stop him but he throws the vial back. Quickly choosing between chasing,
and getting the drug you take the drug. He'll probably go chase the truck so he can do his crazy terror attack. Lucky he didn't just decide to put a bullet in your heads, maybe he just doesn't have it in him,
to do it personally that is. Shortly you hear gunfire from the lower levels. You give Carla and Sarah the drug, hoping it's not a fake and Doc was just lying again, and after about a minute they wake up. "Phil? What happened?"
"Who's this chick? Where the hell are we?" your two companions stare at each other then back at you, waiting for explanations.
>No time to explain, let's go after Doc (d20)

"No time to explain, just get the hell away from hers as fast as you can, I'm going to go save everyone" Carla raises her hand to try and stop you, but swiftly you evade it and run out the door.
It's a mess on the first floor of the building, it looks like Doc shot up the remaining security. As you run out to the front you overhear that he took a hostage and stole a cop car.
Up front you see that there's a pair of officers checking on a fallen comrade, it seems they just got here in their own car. You take the opportunity to rob their own car.
By the time one of them approaches you've already managed to breach into it's system, a skill you learned back when you used to forget your own keys on Earth.
Putting the pedal to the metal you rush through the main gate. The cop info systems inform of an unidentified truck being chased by a stolen police vehicle in the lunar high way, so you start riding towards it.
-
There they are, the cop car is tailing the truck closely, no others seem to be in the same lead yet, probably still busy with the other messes you've left around town.
One moment and you could catch up to them, or you could wait and see.

Speeding up you dodge a series of civilian vehicles, your needlework is pretty good and soon you find yourself riding right to Doc's car. You're only at 100 km/h, and modern cars can take quite a beating.
Worrying little for your safety you try to ram his car with your own, but he breaks a bit and then puts his foot down on the accelerator again. You're now on the left and he's at your right side.
He looks at you through the window, a face of pure rage. Turning back to the traffic you see that the opposite flow is going to get rough, if he rams you then it'd be bad. You go to max speed and overtake the truck,
though you don't stand in front rather you move to the right lane where Doc's is and try decelerating. He sees what you're doing and rather than give it up speeds up and rams your back.
Bad move on his part. You sock the brakes so hard you think you might've broken your foot. Both of your cars start slowing down fast. There are civilians coming up behind, this will definitely be a nasty collision.
Samson doesn't give up yet, to avoid turning into a human pancake he steers right and manages to abruptly make an exit to the urban traffic below the super highway. You can't just let him leave.
You spin your wheels to the right and pull the handbrake, then instead of drifting you turn the steering completely and do a 180 return. Speeding up on the wrong flow, the civilians incoming all start dodging.
A left turn at the right exit and you're back on his track. He's not too far, but chasing up to him in urban traffic will be tough. You've got good skills but this will be hard. He takes a left and then another left,
you're catching up to him, but you realize that he's trying to get back to the highway. You feel like shouting profanities at him but you don't think it'll help.
>Try to keep him urban, it's more dangerous but will keep him away from the truck

He made a hard turn, the truck kept going straight while you and he went off.
He wants to get back to the highway so he can resume chasing.

Think of it like pic, but less retarded.
>>
Both of you start picking up the pace, soon you're like lightning blazing through the streets. Every time he tries to continue you try to block his turns, and every time he tries to throw you out,
well, two can play the game. Eventually he starts blazing faster and faster at a speed that definitely is 'too fast' for the traffic in the urban area. You try to take off his balance by putting your front's tip to his back.
It works, kinda. He's impressive really, despite taking off his back to the side he manages to use it to his advantage and go into an extremely sharp turn. Keeping up is getting harder, he doesn't have any concerns,
not for his life nor for others'. You might need to act similarly about your own wellbeing, but you can't just let street walking civvies get run over because of this scuffle. You start tailing him without interfering,
and soon you both make your way into the highway. "Doc, come on" you try sending him a message "You don't need to do this. We can help you, we can fight them. If you do - this - everyone will lose trust,
everything will be hysteria. You'll be killing all of us" his voice comes a minute later, it's cracking a bit but he's mostly determined, as he says "I've got to do this, even if it doesn't work we can't take them down,
not on our own" you decide to wait a bit until the rage subsides further before trying contact again. For now you put the pedal to the metal once more, the car is getting to the limit at nearly 250 mph.
You're coming close to the truck, but to your luck it's trying to leave the highway. Goddamn, back into the urban areas? And at your speed the turn might be too tight. You see Doc is not slowing down either.

Brake, steer, handbrake, fuck. You're going so fast laterally that you feel like your brain is being squished against your ear. Somehow, you make it. Not only do you make it, but while drifting you pulled ahead.
Doc is now trying to pass you, but the exit from the super highways is tight enough that you can block him long enough for the truck to pick up some distance. You get a comm call from Doc. He's silent for a bit,
prompting you to start talking in his stead: "So you are saying that if we set big phil up across the street from Parliament while it was in session, then made claims of Unitologists being behind it that would not work?"
"It doesn't matter, Phil. I need to do this. We both need to be ended for what we did, just like the unitologists and EarthGov" you laugh, even if the situation calls for the opposite. It's impossible he doesn't realize just,
well - ridiculous - his plan is. "Instead of staying around and redeeming yourself you want to likely doom humanity to a war which will annihilate it while also taking your own life so you don't have to deal with the fallout"
He is silent, but doesn't cut you off. "You know how stupid that is? Stop being such a goddamn idiot Doc. Give it up" he cuts off the call. You two keep chasing, but eventually his speed starts to drop.
The truck gets away, and soon your car and his both stop. He gets off. The grown man in front of you is bawling his eyes out, just what did you two do? Doc sits on the stolen car's hood and clutches his head with both hands.
Sirens are approaching, you've got quite a few ways to deal with this.
>Put him in the car, take him. He's still got to atone by actually doing something useful.
>Leave him here, let the cops deal with this however they want. The governor's office will be evidence enough

Mybe for doc not to freak out and kill himself or something

Tells us everything
>>
You walk up to him and give him a right hook to the face. He slumps to the side, but shortly after straightens up again. "That was for pointing a gun at Carla and threatening to blow us up"
Grabbing him by the shoulder you start moving him into your own car. It's stolen but you're sure you can outrun the cops. Once he's in the passenger seat you turn on the car and simply state "Let's go home"
He doesn't say much on the trip there. To your luck the rookies they sent after you didn't even notice your cop car was one of the stolen vehicles. Doc is leaning onto the window, and looks pensive.
"We can still fix this mess doc, just have to put more thought behind how we plan to do it" you turn to him as you drive, he's still slumped to the side, barely giving you any reaction.
"Why do you think I would have signed up to be a human weapon, with no memory of my past, I was clearly suicidal before the program" he laughs, it's a sad one, but a reaction nonetheless.
"That's wrong. You thought you'd make a real difference, they explained it to you but they always make it sound better than what happens in practice" you raise an eyebrow at his sudden statement.
"So why did I want to kill myself?" he briefly turns to you before staring back through the window "That came later. Your mind isn't stable, it didn't take well to the programming. A certain mission,
well, it threw you off from your stability completely. Our superiors still wanted you ready to be used so we went to Heinlein" considering his words you need to ask him, "This mission, what happened?"
He freezes, even his breathing cuts off for a moment. "Remember the cultist leader? The necromorphs? You did to people what you usually do to them. And they were all just... just civilians.
They wanted it to look like a terror attack, so you killed all the officers from your team, all your friends. I wasn't the first one to get the idea you could change public opinion by faking an attack"
"I think I remember something about it, so what you're saying is I-" he interrupts you "Have you thought about why you were so eager to meet some girl but couldn't approach any?"
You shake your head "You killed everyone on your team Phil. Everyone, even..." he pauses You had the same expression you had when you shot the agent back there. Absolutely dull. And the mission before that,
I can't even talk about the things we did there." "But that's the past, those weren't - really - us. Now we finally have a chance not just at a modicum of happiness but at being able to atone"
He clutches his head again then clenches his fists. "I'm actually surprised you're able to act so normally. I think the marker and the brain damage may have changed you, from the inside"
"It's not like I'm crazy still, am I? Not that it was bad. It actually felt pretty good"
"Have you been taking the medicine?"
"Both of them"
"You should stop, if you want to understand. If you want to remember"
"Really now?"
The rest of the ride is in silence.

Doc explains everything. The group just stood there, listening. You didn't even bother participating, instead you just watched your team mates. Shock and betrayal on their faces.
Even Carla's, who surprisingly wasn't worried about you. According to her she is "getting used to you just doing whatever crazy shit you feel like doing". Sarah is there too, though she seems to be distant.
Probably doesn't affect her as deeply as it does the others. Eventually his explanations are over, and you feel like the team has some stuff to say about it, but you decide it's the right time to address all of them.

We can work on damage control in a bit.

Where has Julius been? hes gonna be the next Doc sleeper agent at this rate.

"So' Anyone Have anything that could help us stick it to botha the bastards without ruining us?"
>>
You feel many emotions right then. Absolutely all of them negative. It takes you a bit to start talking, but your words carry weight as the emotional load behind them is clear to all.
Hearing all of it again made you think about all the people who could've died, and for some reason it also makes you think of all those who did die for the bastards Doc was against.
"There is a way out of this" the group seems to flock towards you "There's a way for us to take all the crap that's happened, to ball it up and throw it back at them" some nod, others just remain silent.
"I promise you that there is a way to do it without us just screwing humanity up or losing our own in the process. I may be ruthless, violent, careless, insane, but I'm not about to let them win.
Because if humanity is doomed, then they win. Regardless of what their pretense is, their real motive is to end us all. They may say it's energy or ascension but it's meaningless destruction.
I'll hunt every single one of them down, even if I have to do it with my bear hands" you do have bear hands, for some reason, it's as if you're hallucinating again, though the image feels somehow different.
"We'll release information, we'll recruit others, we'll clean up our own messes and theirs. I won't stop until they are stopped, and I hope you're all gonna ride with me even if it means death"
The group cheers, even Doc seems to be recomposed. His eyes show the anger he's still got inside of him. It'll do him good, if he uses it well. Although you're not sure you'll really trust him ever again.
-
"Doc" he nods for you sit next to him. Due to a group vote he's confined to his quarters for now. "I've seen a girl sometimes. Back in Heinlein, and before even. She's this young one,
looked barely out of college" he seems to pause for a moment before taking one of his datapads. After fiddling with it he hands the device to you. It's someone's file, a female officer,
straight out of the academy and into the tactical team. "But she doesn't look like an officer, when I saw her" he shrugs "Have you ever seen anyone in your hallucinations looking like they shouldn't?"
"A bear in clothes. So who was she?"
"You had been dating for some moths. You shot her then snapped her neck"
Way to be straight about it, at least you don't remember it. It feels like it really wasn't you, it feels like you never really met her.
"Why do I think of rats when I think of her"
"That I honestly don't know. One thing you should however, and this is more important than your past. EarthGov doesn't just have a couple of markers.
If we let them be, or if they get into the cultist's hands there won't be anything left of any of us"
What a happy thought, and damn him from hiding his information for so damn long. You are tempted to punch him again, but opt not to.

You're sitting in the living room, beer in hand. The news has been all over the place, reporting conflicts between EarthGov and unitologists, between civilians and unitologists and between civilians and EarthGov.
For a moment you consider the options.
>We could try to recruit gangs, civilians and disgruntled cops
>We could investigate the markers, ask Duke where we might find the intel on their locations
>You want to take some time to do something personal while there is still time
>Write-in
roll me a d20 meanwhile
>>

That is a potential plan, but we gotta do this careful or it may not catch on, I don't think we can work with the EarthGov even indirectly through duke anymore unless we turn in Doc and put all the blame on him. But since I doubt we will do that, we wage a low bit of a insurgent/guerrilla campaign.

The most ideal path for me would be to work with duke as a middleman or barrier between us and earthgov shit, and trade resources and money for information and such, while taking down Unitologists.

We should have started leaking info through proxies and survivors, with grainy pictures or photos, and start ramping it up to survivours and outbreaks of necromorphs.

The Ideal point would be mass awareness of necromorphs and the forcing of the government to acknowledge it in some way and form before we blow the lid off complete in a massive intelligence leak.

It would be important to pit the Unis/necros and earthgov against one another, with the people caught in the crossfire. We will have to fight for the people to rise up and do the mass rebellion. We can only do so much with our resources. We need to create mass dissent, and have the resources of the more powerful blocks grind each other down for us.

So after analyzing our situation, we need to reestablish contact and a working relationship with Duke our intel contact guy.

And figure what kind damage control we can do with us wasting a high ranking agent.

Then we start ripping up the Unis under Government authority making the unis more belligerent towards earth gov. And aloow certain attacks that we can contained to make the earth gov look bad for allow the cultists to terrorize the populace with near impunity.

Once things come to a blow, we start dropping emails harder than the Russians (allegedly) of H-Dogs secret server. and allow thing to reach a boiling point by setting it off with dumping all the dirt we have collected by then almost at once.

We gottda play 3d chess for this, we use gangs but avoid recruiting them, they are their own groups for a reason. We form mutually beneficial relations with gangs, they can help us cover up or incite riots, uprisings and disposal of high risk vips.

We recruit from survivors and civilians, occasionally cops but cops should be part of our intel network, occasionally recruiting them like Sarah.

We start forming groups to act on our behalf an other action teams when things happen far away that we cannot respond to in time.

Its a bad Ideal to recruit from gangs, if they are from opposing gangs or from the game gang they will cause schisms or cliques within our own faction, and can eat us alive from within. Gangs tend to have one loyalty, and its to their gang identity.

Unless we are recruiting gang survivors who were nearly wiped out, thus removing their effectiveness for what their intended use should be (deniable unscrupulous actions against a fact or group) we should not recruit or draw manpower from them.

"Carla" she raises her head "Hm?" you look down at her "I think we should start recruiting people" she nods. "Maybe we can start working something with Duke, see if he can help us find the right people.
I'm thinking we can cut some deals with crooks, get a few cops on our side, maybe a few civilians who we know have been screwed during this whole shitshow" she raises her head and nods again.
"I think we oughta think long term. We need more personnel, allies who can help us create distractions or steal resources. Hell, when the time comes we might need a goddamn army..."
You continue your rant before getting a slight slap to the balls "Can you please stop talking about strategy while I'm blowing you? I mean, I get that it's important but hell if it's not a mood killer"
It's really hard. Taking your mind off things that is, even during your break.
-
"Duke" he looks to you and waves for you to come closer. "Kid, to what do I owe the pleasure?" you lean over the counter and sigh "Well, I'm hoping I still have your support, but I'll understand if you-"
"Buddy, what? I've never played by the rules. At least not theirs. Plus I always wanted to be a double agent. That said please stop being triggered by special code words and assassinating officials"
You both laugh at the silliness of it all. "Look, I think we need more allies. Can you pass me a list of possible recruits? Or hell, can you give me contacts to gangs and mercenaries in case I decide to hire someone"
"It'd be useful too. Better not waste your real assets when you can always find a two-bit thug to play war for you. Plus I heard the lunatics have recently started cheering for you, apparently their leader,
one 'Terry' recognized you on TV. They're saying you're a real 'loco' and they hope you 'burn it all down', crazy fellas" well it ain't all that bad then.
"So about those agents, can you give me the list?" he nods "I'll ready it until the end of the day, so in about eight hours. It'll need some digging since you're requiring a pretty specific set of needs"
"It's good enough" the man lights up a cigar and goes to check his data.
Meanwhile, you'll need to fill those eight hours with something.

It's better to just rest around for a while. But first, why not work on disguising your face? You did show up in quite a few places and it'd be good if no one saw your mugshot and decided to turn you in.
Carla gets you blue eye-contacts and black hair dye. You use them appropriatelly, next cutting your hair down to a buzzcut and getting a clean shave. You look decently different. Another important step,
you cleaned your armour and guns of all the blood and dirt that was piling on them. At the end of it things you're certain nobody will notice you're, well, you.
Then, after it's all done you go for a nap to pass some time. Dreams come to you, but they feel abnormal, not vivid like they used to be, just shadows. You wake up feeling good.
-
Duke's got you to his little 'office' inside your main base of operations, aka 'his apartment'. He offers a cigar and some booze, and soon you're both sitting comfortably as he goes begins:
"Look, the non priority recruits, the possible contracted and all the last-measure deals? I left it out. If you want I can forward it to you later on a bigger list so you can have others work on it, but trust me,
the rest aren't as good as the ones I picked out" you nod and make a spinning gesture with your hand so he'll just move on. "A'ight here it is kid. First up, Dr. Hiran Chauhan, studies energy,
lost his family in a little 'accident' in a marker site, ever since he's on the run for sabotaging the power grid of multiple cities." the image is of a forty-some indian man with a long beard and hair.
"Now meet former Corporal Marcus Black" ironically, he's black, but you refrain from pointing it out "raised by unitologists, joined the military to escape his crazy parents. Got discharged after-"
he coughs "Let's just say Mr. Black didn't take well to certain 'people' being promoted up the ladder of command due to their influence" he sounds and looks like a Mad Dog.
"Then we have Ping-Pong" you have to stop him before he switches to that file "Did you just say Ping-Pong, or am I fucking hallucinating?" Duke laughs and shakes his head "That's his alias.
Real name is Gabriel Mercer, famous as the Ping-Pong assassin. Why? Well, beyond him acting like a ping-pong ball on the battlefield there is the fact he executed multiple officials by socking
ping pong balls on their eyes, then hanging them to bleed out" you look to him incredulously "Why would anyone do that?" he shrugs "Regardless, he's got a real beef with EarthGov, though I don't know why"
>>
>>1040967
"Finally, but not any less important, the pyromaniac Mira Rajovik, the 'Firehead'. Former chemistry student, she's some supervillain tier crazy. Even worse than the ping pong guy.
She's currently in minimum security for theft but we know for a fact she's been burning and exploding things for a long ass time, back to her teens. Carla would like her"
"Probably. So what, are these all?"
"For now, I'll see about finding more, but it's not exactly easy to dig up. Most people aren't exactly 'exceptional' enough. Now, the locations for each recruits are in the files. Do you need anything else?"
>Yes [write-in]
>No. I'll go meet with Corporal Black

"No. I'll go meet with the Hiran, though I really look forward to meeting Firehead. Why do they call her that anyway, other than setting things on fire?" his cigar falls from his mouth,
but you manage to catch it mid air and put it back in place. "Kid, look at her picture, what do you notice?" you shrug "She's hot?" he rubs his temples "First, please don't say that when your girlfriend is around,
or you'll get burned. Second, horrible pun. Third, she's a goddamn redhead, did you get dropped as a kid?" you shake your head and start heading for the exit "I did get mind-programmed and mind-wiped,
affected by alien brain waves, and thrown into a coma with a possibility of brain damage" you complete, before finally leaving.
-
You went alone to find this one Doctor Hiran. He was holed up in a squat full of hobos. Well he does fit in if his picture is any indication, while you don't. The hobos seem a bit hostile,
but once you tell them you're not a cop they just let you be. The place is a mess of the worst kind, with people living in abject poverty. Funny how humanity left to explore the stars only to bring it's illnesses with it.
Hiran is sitting cross legged near the edge of the fourth floor's unfinished walls. At first you think he is meditating which would've force you into making cliche jokes,
but upon further inspection it's clear he's just working on a circuit board. "Dr. Hiran? I'm -" he interrupts you "I don't care" well how impolite. "Look, I work against the same people as you.
I know about the necromorphs and the markers" he turns around in a hurry, hand over a pistol he was concealing under the board. "Are you with EarthGov?" you shake your head.
"Well, I was programmed as an assassin by them, but not anymore. You probably saw me on the news?" he lowers the weapon "You disguised yourself. Clever. What do you wish of me?"
"I want you to join me, help me take down these fools before they can kill any more innocents" he raises the circuit board in front of you "What?" he sighs "Take this, I need to grab something"
You grab the board and wait as he goes into a side room, soon coming back with a cart full of electronics. "Now where do we go?"
"I have a car you can put all that in-" he shakes his head "I walk. No cars, EarthGov can tap into internal systems if there is an agent nearby" this fella might be crazy, then again no judgment there.
After giving him directions you slowly follow behind as the man walks all the way toward the apartment. Before going in he informs you that he can mess with your vehicle's systems later,
but he'll need time and more parts.

Entering the apartment you're greeted by Carla jumping on you and slapping your ass, Hiran is amused by your antics but doesn't comment. Everyone else is massed in the living room,
they seem to be watching a recording of your chase with Doc the highway cameras captured, they even let Doc come out for it. You have to admit it's a pretty good chase, movie-worthy.
"Everyone, this is Dr. Hiran Chauhan, he's a new recruit. He's going to be helping-" the bearded hobo went off to inspect the table full of electronics, cackling to himself while everyone watches him.
He turns around, still smiling "Ah yes, we'll help many with this. It'll be glorious!" you make the universal sign of 'this guy is fucking nuts' which results in judgmental looks from your crew.
It's not like you're criticizing it, just pointing it out. "Now, D-" doc is in use, Hiran is too ethnic, maybe... "Professor?" he turns to you again "Can I call you professor?"
"I'll teach you much if you wish, do as you please" you shrug and lead him to a place where he can work. You notice Julius follows you, perhaps they'll get to work together on something.

Getting a meeting with an inmate in a low security prison wasn't very hard, in fact it's downright annoying that you didn't have to concoct some grand scheme to bust someone out of supermax.
Carla is sitting next to you on a bench, you're both leaning over the table and waiting for the criminal. About five minutes after you get there she arrives, her nose is bloodied up but she's smiling.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. Had small scuffle, broken nose but I did bust his knee" says the tall bombshell redhead. If she's mentioning a fight with a 'he' then it must've been a guard.
"She's hot" says your girlfriend "That's what I said too" you both share a laugh, much to the inmate's amusement. "So, want a job?" she waves her fingers then points to the handcuffs.
"Ah yes, we'll pay your bond. For someone so famous you managed to get arrested for so little" she shrugs "It was just cup noodles, I was starving and I forgot wallet at home" that's the stupidest reason to get busted.
"I take it you'll want the job then?" she nods "Won't even ask it what it is?" she leans closer and puts a finger to your forehead "Boss thinks, grunt does the work. Tell me what to blow and I'll do it"
That's kinky, people really need to stop making accidental puns like that. "Alright, you're in" and soon, like in the blink of an eye, you're all out of there, three free people.
-
"Good place you've got here, will I blow it?" she says with a plastic explosive in hand, the entire group shouts at her to stop at once. "How did you even get that?" she whispers at a louder voice than your talking one:
"In prison, you have to be... resourceful with hiding" God, no.

It said in the file Ping Pong was in an underground facility. By facility you thought of some secret assassin hideout or a government bunker. Instead you found yourself in the basement of a shitty bar,
place is a den of degeneracy, you see a brothel, gambling, an even bigger booze-house and even a goddamn fight club. Asking around for the man just yielded you a few laughs and looks of scorn,
though you did get a few offers to handle the job instead from what you assume are other hitmen. Finally the bar man helps you out. "He's fighting" you assume he means in a mission but he corrects you,
"He's in the cage, boy. Ping Pong ain't coming out until somebody beat him out, and boy he's been there for six hours" damn, that's a lot. You thank the barman and head to watch the fight.
First guy is a small chinese looking man, who gets KOd in one hit. Next a huge guy, gets his ass handed down to him once Ping Pong manages to get him to the ground into a lock and surrenders.
Then a lunatic, drugged to hell and back. This one lasts a while if only because the drugs stop him from feeling pain. Match ends when Ping Pong bends both of the man's knees backwards.
This guy is undefeated, and you guess why: he's fast enough they haven't landed a single hit on him yet. And he's been doing this for six fucking hours?

Ping Pong eyes you from head to toe and smiles. It's a damn wide smile, as wide as his next move: an overhead kick. You duck under and start trying to pull him toward you. At first he doesn't bite,
but you feel like whatever makes him crazy also makes him want to get closer to the heat. He rushes you, though it's a feint. Dodging both hits you let him nearly crash on the cage's side.
The crowd is cheering wildly. The assassin decides to start playing, he comes in running and jumps to the cage's side from which he then leaps to knee you in the face. It does connect,
but you managed to ease the impact well enough by not letting it get to your nose. He runs at you again, but you're way too close to the cage this time. He's good and turns the rush into walking the cage.
He leaps back and tries another kick, which you easily block. This is too damn slow but you have a plan. Repeating the same movement for the third time, he comes at you but steps back the last minute expecting an evasion.
You take advantage of his feint and push his face in with a hook. He falls to the ground and immediately rolls back to his feet.
"Do I have to knock you out?"
"That or kill me, that's how it works here Lucky"
"My name isn't Lucky. I want to hire you"
"Well, hit me again and prove you ain't Lucky, and I'll joi-"
You launch an uppercut that sends him cartwheeling to the cage.
"F-fuck. Fine"
-
You and Mr. Ping Pong are sitting at a table in the VIP area, he buys you a shot and drinks what looks like a milkshake.

An assassin would be good for us, specially if we take on big shots from EarthGov and Unitology" he stops to drink his milkshake, which upon further inspection smells more like cheese and nuts.
"Okay" he offers you his hand, which you take and shake. "I'll get you to our bas-" he interrupts you almost instantly "No. I need a place to train in, I'll stay here"
"We have a gym" he raises his eyebrows "Really? Do you have something with hot water?" you nod "I'll take it then. Time to ping these pongs, my friend" the man says while cracking his back.
You have no idea what he means by that and you don't want to ask.
-
"This is Ping Pong" at this point most of your team seems used to you just walking in with a bunch of weirdos every hour "He's an assassin, say hi, Ping Pong. So we get Pizzas on saturdays and movies on sundays, have fun"
"Nice. Though I'd prefer if you call me Gabe. Ping Pong is my artistic name" yep, he'll fit right in with this crowd. Soon enough he's at the gym and nobody gives a damn anymore, how great is that?
When you were a kid you couldn't even bring a goddamn cat home and someone would bitch, now you can bring crazy assassins and everyone takes it as the most normal thing ever.
Thinking of home, you can't help but look at Sarah. She looks a bit shaken up still, but you feel like she's getting used, specially since she gets to hang with actually nice officers like Gomez and Sarge.

Removing the ones in Gov. possession will force or give the perfect excuse to go after the ones the Unis have, this making them finally react openly in overt confrontation to Unis and attack them to get their markers.

"Sarah" she looks up to you from the couch "Hey, Phil" you take your seat next to her "Everybody treating you alright?" she looks to you, seemingly examining you face.
"Yeah, I met everyone, they're pretty kind. Officer Gomez and Sergeant Anderson have been very accommodating what with the situation I got out from" you smile.
"I have to say, your name and your face, you look like someone I know" she turns to you "You too. What's your full name?" a train's sound interrupts your first name, strangely there are no tracks nearby.
" - Philips" her face suddenly lights up in surprise "Oh, you're Detective Philips' kid. My dad worked with yours" that makes sense "Well, if our dad's were pals then I'm sure we'll be too.
Now, if you need anything don't hesitate to ask it of me or the others" she smiles, although you feel it's more of a mask. She reminds you of Doc in that she's bottling up her feelings, and that ain't healthy.
You usually just let yours out with a big 'bang' and few survivors.
-
"Alright kiddos, I've dragged you all to the living room, aka, conference room for an important mission. I need you all, well, except Sarge, to locate marker sites, Duke will handle the rest of the briefing.
Neabwguke I'll go out and find the Black guy you see people questioning why are you suddenly targetting people racially but Duke explains it away. Soon you're outta there, Sarge in tow.
It's not a long ride to the apartment building Black is living in. The corporal probably doesn't get a lot of cash in his new job as a bouncer. You knock on the door before noticing it's already night time.
"Think he might be at the club?" Sarge knocks at the door, shouting as if he were a drill sergeant. "Yeah, not here. Let's try the club. What's the name of the place?" you smirk "The Pirate's Booty"
"How original"
-
The place sure is thematic, with hot pirate ladies up front calling men to come in and Bouncers wearing eye-patches with cutlasses strapped to their hips. You see the one black dude hanging around the front,
a man bigger than a door. One drunk guy tries to get pushy on one of the girls, saying something to the effect of "Do you know who I am?" a moment later he's thrown three meters away with his arm broken.
You feel like this guy doesn't really have a lot of patience to deal with bullshit. He sees you two and gives you a short salute, making you turn to Sarge. "Crewcut, and you're packing" right, that.
Well, you need to approach this guy with a business offer. How to go about this?
>Just try to chat him while he guards the place, could work right?

Sarge and you go into the club, and as you pass the guard you whisper "If you want to kick ass meet with us, Black" you hope that this was really Corporal Black because otherwise that last bit was pretty racist.
The inside of the place is just as thematics as the outside. There's wooden tables and the whole place is decorated like a neon tavern. The clash is big enough to confuse you.
A girl dressed as a slutty pirate approaches you two. "Arr! Can I interested ye two olde sea dogs on a drink? A dance? To plunder me booty?" you give Sarge a swift tap and move him ahead.
"Go plunder the lady's booty, old man. I'll take the drink" she motions for another girl to come serve you, and soon the poor officer is dragged to some side room, he looks slightly dazed at the whole thing but he'll be fine.
He's an old 'sea dog' after all. You go take a sit next to some weird asian guys in suits, who seem to be drinking a ton of ale. Another pirate comes around with your drink, and offers you a personal dance.
You don't see why not. After a bit watching her shaking harder than you after your only trip through sea one of the asian men comes to have a chat. "You are the guy from the Underground fight right?"

"We are preparing entertainment for the Oyabun, we would like to hire you to put on a show with one of our fighters" you look at him skeptically. This sounds weird, 'put up a show'?
"Well, that does sound interesting but you should contact me later, I'm in my downtime" he shakes his head and puts his finger on your collar bone "I meant now, we want you to fight now?"
"In the club?" he puts more pressure on your chest "That's right. The owner won't mind if the Oyabun tells him not to mind. Now go there and fight"
"Who the fuck is the oyabun anyway? Who the fuck are you?"
"We are Yakuza, and we're older than many countries, show respect and go fight. Now"

"Alright. Why not, let's dance" you get and raise your arms, but your surprise the yakuza is fast and hits you on the abdomen a couple of times with his kicks. He then punches you in the face when you make the,
admittedly, rookie mistake of lowering guard. "Fucking koreans" the man stops giving you the chance to rush in with a straight punch, but he evades and punches you in the face again.
"We are - not - koreans!" he hits you twice in sequence and sends you to your knees "Never say that again, Mr. X, or I won't be so merciful. Now stay down"

"Well, I'll owe - you - a favour. And trust me, I've been amassing quite a gang" his smirk turns to laughter "I like your style, even if you're a loudmouth asshole. Now come so I can kick your ass"
You rush in and feint another straight, instead going for an uppercut that hits him square in the sternum. "See? I'm pr-" fuck should've kept your mouth shut, he kicked it and you nearly bit off your tongue.
Stepping back a bit you assess the situation. He's pretty fast, but he's a pretty grounded striker type too. You could try and take him down, or you could go for a pummeling strategy.
He comes in again and you take a swift kick to the ribs. You move back and start going around him with side steps, trying to buy time to think of any other possibilities.
It finally comes to you that an alternative would be to take a page from Ping Pong's book and attempt an enviromental takedown.

Both of you trade more blows, you try to pummel him to get some of his wind out, and it works. His strikes start to slow down and you can see the blood from his nose is clogging his airways.
A few hits on your end make you feel your ribs flaring in pain. In return you strike his knee with a stomp. Lucky for him that he just falls down, giving him a chance to recover, no more kicks from that leg.
Eventually he gets another hit that nearly sends you down. You keep it together however, can't go losing just now. The Yakuza notices your fighting spirit and seems to respect you more, his stance shows it.
He's no longer approaching needlessly, and instead is trying to be more surgical. The damage you're both taking slows the pace, but the audience is all fixated on it. It's a real match of pros fighters, no amateurs.
You're confident you can beat him. It's been a tough fight, but if you're smart about it then you can turn it around. He comes in for another strike and instead of responding with one of your own you go in for a clinch.
Putting your weight on it you manage to take away his balance, sadly you didn't notice the alcohol puddle right where you headed. Next thing you know your head is approaching floor, fast...
-
You wake up inside a pirate-themed bedroom, a pirate girl taking care of you. Next to you on a nearby bed is an asian man, bandages on his forehead. "Mr. X, you are awake. It was a good fight,
how unlucky that we both got knocked out" you clutch your own head "I- what? Where the fuck am I?" the man raises an eyebrow "You don't remember?" you shake your head negatively "Fuck, I don't feel so good"
After a few minutes where the asian man explains what happened a girl kicks in through the door. "Phil I was so- why is there a slutty pirate and a gangster" you shrug "I just woke up, what the hell is going on?" the girl moves closer "Who are you?"
She looks at you in silence for a few moments, shocked, before she sits next to you. "What's the last thing you remember?"
"I was with the squad and we were getting ready for a mission" she sighs "So you remember the others? Julius, Sarge, Gomez..." you furrow your brow.

"Where's the squad?" she lights up and takes you by the hand "They're outside waiting for you" she helps you up and you two walk out of the bedroom. The asian man waves you out.
Once you're in the outer area you see a pirate-themed strip club, or something that looks a lot like that at least. The place looks like it's already closed. Sitting nearby is a group of ten people.
You've never seen any of these people in your life. An old cop, an even older guy, some hispanic guy, a bland looking doctor, a crazy shirtless fellow, a blonde cop, a tall black man, a fat middle aged man,
a hobo-like indian dude, and a bombshell redhead. Nope. Never seen any of these before. "Alright, funny. Was this Thomas' idea? No, wait, Julie?" these strangers look at you, some concerned,
others amused. "Alright have it your way, I'm outta here" the lady who helped you holds you in place "Stop. Phil, you got knocked out, you're having memory issues"
"So what? Where's the goddamn squad" suddenly the bland looking doctor interjects "They're dead. Look Carla, let me help him, you've gotta trust that I can fix this with some time"

Dude, I know right? Just back back from work to find this out, guess we'll have to work around not remembering our buddies now.
>>
"No wait, let me hear this guy. Dead? What bullshit is that" your fists clench, thinking of all your squadmates. There's no way they're dead, there's no way your friends are dead.
He motions for you to follow him, so you do. Some of the other strangers seem uncomfortable allowing it but don't seem to question it. "What's the last thing you remember?"
"I was waiting to go on a mission, I think. Or were we already arriving there? I remember getting a call and that's it" the man nods and continues his pace "Many things happened, you lost your memory"
The man leads you to the bar and points to a calendar. "What the- Have I been in a coma? This has got to be a stupid prank where is Julie?" he sighs "You... yes. You have been in a coma,
though that was some time ago. Phil, you've lost your memory of the past five months. "Okay that doesn't explain why you said they're dead, how can they be dead if-"
"A mission went wrong. The one you were going to, Philips. Here" he taps a few words on a datapad and hands it to you. No, this is bullshit, they faked this just to mess with your head.
Why would they fake a mission report? There's obituaries for them, all six of your friends. Julie? Thomas? Cap? Everyone is dead and you're the only one left. Tears start rolling down your face.
"Look, if you come with us I can fix your memory, EarthGov pioneered memory alteration procedures and I can work with them I can..." you take your leave from that place.
You need some time to think, some time to reflect on this. Out into the streets you look to the skies, seeing the Earth from the moon for the first time you can remember.
They really aren't lying are they?
-
You're sitting in a stranger's apartment, surrounded by people you've never met. They talk to you as if talking to their senile grandmother. The guy who seemed to know about your team,
who promised to help fix your memory, he's sitting next to you. Explaining the details of how you could try fixing it. According to him there are certain therapies he can try, stimulating your brain with
a machine and drugs, it could unlock certain mental 'issues' however. Alternatively you could attempt to get help inside the bunker in which you were 'programmed'. You're not sure what he means by that,
but you're not exactly in the mood to ask. Finally, he says things might just heal on their own, but in the meantime you'd have to live with not having memory of the past months.
The girl who busted into the room earlier, and who you know now is a friend called 'Carla' is arguing you should just bust into this bunker and get you fixed up.
Others like the cops seem more eager to let Doc try his thing. The old engineer only spoke up once to defend it's better to let you heal and scar naturally than to force things.
Every other stranger just watches the confusion in front of them.

Therapy was your pick, and at first it seemed like you made the right choice as you sat in a comfortable recliner in a pretty spacious bedroom. You waited chatting with that Carla girl.
"So, how long have we known each other?" she gives you a sad smile "Not very long, but you've been a great-" the girl takes a moment with her mouth open as if considering what she's talking about.
"A really great friend and leader. You're a nutcase but we - all - love you" you nod. Can't really feel any attachment to these people you don't know, but you're glad that you aren't alone.
Despite what happened to your squad that is. It's still hard to wrap your head around it, you lost all your friends and your lover. Inside you feel dull, as if someone ripped your joy out.
And the weird part is people seemed to avoid giving details, though you did see on the datapad's report that they had been killed in a terror attack. By talking to her you attempt to clear your head of these thoughts.
"Carla, right? Whose apartment is this anyway?". She replies, "It's Duke's, but we've been using ever since we got back from the incident" incident? The girl sees the confusion on your face,
and clears it up before you can voice the question. "We survived an attack by unitologists. It's a lot to explain right now. Most of it was thanks to you and your insane plans..."
"Am I really that crazy? I'm usually pretty stable" she laughs "You fought alongside a polar bear, blew up a space station, fought a superhuman terrorist and did a high speed car chase that was televised"
She smiles and leans closer before stopping herself "Oh - I -" you raise an eyebrow and she turns her eyes to your forehead "There, one second" she leans in again and starts messing with your head bandages,
apparently cleaning something up. Carla stutters but manages to say it was just some blood. You let out a smile, she's probably scared of talking to a complete stranger shaped as someone she knew,
it's better to try and be nice.
-
Half an hour of chatting about random things and just getting to know your companion again the doctor barges in. He's got some strange equipment, some of it that looks like it was made right now.
"Sorry, I had to get Hiran to make some of this stuff" no, wait, they're really using home made crap on you? At least he said it was just some cooky hypnotic crap. He approaches and motions for Carla to leave.
She doesn't budge. "I'm staying here" he nods "I understand, but this won't be a nice thing to see, and the place is soundproof trust me it'll be better this way" you don't quite comprehend why,
but the girl doesn't seem to want him here to work. Maybe she's worried or maybe there's something else going on.

"Let her stay" he looks to you and nods, his face reminds you of Thomas. Strangely, you feel like you had that thought before. "It's going to be a bit nasty, now, open your eyes wide"
"What, why?" the doctor puts a set of what look like headphones over your head, but rather than cover your ears they just strap over them. He then takes you another strangely shaped object.
"Because that's where the needle goes" you raise your hand to protest "Wait wha-" the gun-shaped object ejects a set of needles that go straight into your eyes. It's not painful, in fact you can't feel much.
A whirring sound invades your head through the sides of your skull and everything goes black.
-
"Phil, wake up Phil" you look to your girlfriend "Julie, what happened?" she pulls your arm and helps you get on your feet "We've got a mission, come on let's get dressed up" you stop her, holding her waist.
"At least a good morning kiss before that, how about it" she moves in and gives you a soft and swift kiss on the lips before heading out "Stop being such a romantic, we need to go play soldier"
Soon you're in the dressing room with the rest of the squad. Thomas and Cap are already in their suits while Chuckles, Barry and Sam are still getting dressed up. You and Julie seem to be a bit late to it.
"Finally, J. go on an get dressed before we leave you two love birds here with the rest of the grunts" you groan and start getting dressed. "What's the mission anyway?"
"We're being sent to handle a possible hostage situation, this crazy group of hippies living in an abandoned building. Probably going to be an easy in-and-out deal so don't feel the need to go full kit"
"Copy that, Cap'n" he laughs "Stop calling me Cap'n, I've been promoted it's time to let go of the nickname" you shake your head "You could be general but to me you'd still be the Captain"
Chuckles and Barry agree, they had met with Captain before joining the team as well.
Soon you're on the move, sitting in the gunship. Thomas is next to you, with his usual dull face. He hands you some bubblegum and leans closer "You okay man? You look like you saw a ghost"
-
You're alone in a dark room, looking at... yourself. He looks thinner, more tired, red veins popping on his eyes, bags under. "Why did you sign up for it?"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9hagVL-__c

"I had nothing before joining, no family that loved me anymore, just skills. They wanted me in and promised me a lot" you look deep into his, or rather, your own eyes.
The other you takes out a pack of bubblegum and offers you some. "I understand. And what did you have after joining?" you take the time to think about it, and think of everything you gained.
After tallying up you come up with a short answer. "Nothing" your other self looks to you with disdain. "Guess you needed to learn how to pick your friends, right?"
-
"Team we'll be dropping down in a second. Remember to not stray or open fire unless absolutely necessary, we need to get as far as we can without being detected" your friends nod.
Chuckles pipes up for a joke but Cap gives him 'the look' and he gives it up. As you approach the LZ your comms go live "Weird, someone is calling me" your leader shrugs, motioning for you to pick up.
"Have you touched down yet?" your team is leaving the gunship one by one "Who is this?" the voice pauses, you're the last one on board "And whether they pipe us free, from rats or from mice"
Your brain starts processing his words but things start getting fuzzy. "If we’ve promised them ought, let us keep our promise. Code 013" you shut off. You can't feel anything, you're merely processing data.
"Eliminate the locals then eliminate the team, no survivors" you leave the chopper and shut off the comms. "Everything alright, Phil?" you look blankly at the woman, then nod.
-
You're sitting in a neon-coloured room, Carla is in front of you. She looks younger than when you met her, a bit like her picture. Dressed in what you can best describe as a punk outfit.
"Was it worth it? Losing nothing just so they could make you lose everything?" you shrug "It doesn't matter now does it, I ended as I began" the girl leans closer.
"That's not really true now is it?"

"I have... a giant dick" she laughs, you laugh, the dead guy laughs. You shoot the necromorph. "It's true isn't it? And I guess that's the only reason I'm with you"
"Bullshit, I'm also handsome and got great sense of style" Carla raises an eyebrow "Just because this is in your head doesn't mean I have to just agree with everything you say, only the true bits"
You roll your eyes, feeling good about remembering her. At the same time you feel conflicted. You aren't the same Phil from before, you're more.
-
The girl clutches her chest. Blood is pouring down. She didn't have time to react, but she's still coming closer. "I loved you" Julie falls to her knees, and looks at her hands. You finish the distance,
walking towards her slowly. "I - I" you raise your fists, but suddenly you open your hands and put them on each side of her face, caressing her. Rain is falling over you uncovered face, you can sense it, but not feel it.
"P-please don't, Phil I-" you snap her neck, a disgusting sound of flesh being ripped fills your ears as her twisted head's muscles are torn from her neck. You drop her on the ground and turn on your comms.
"Mission accomplished, awaiting extraction" looking around you see their bodies. Cap, gutted and hanged with his own intestines. Chuckles, broke both his legs, put a steel bar inside his mouth and stomped on it.
Barry, shot multiple times at point blank with a shotgun. Samantha, impaled with a chainsaw. Thomas, swallowed a grenade, thrown from the ceiling. All around this complex are other bodies,
of the 'terrorists' you had to eliminate. Soon enough another gunship shows to pick you up, the face of your handler when he sees the scene turns grim. He never shows emotion, but when you're like this you can see it.
Though you can't feel it.
-
"If it isn't my old friend, feeling down are you?" the Polar Bear greets you. You're happy he's graduated from waiter to bartender "I just remembered a bunch of things I might've been better off forgetting"
"Are you sure it would be?" you look to him as he serves you some scotch "What fuels a man? Or a bear" you shrug "Survival?" the bear guffaws, you're not sure how that's mechanically possible,
then again you aren't questioning how he's serving drinks or talking. "I would say, family. Most big animals like us have it. We do anything to protect it, and they do anything to protect us"
"What happens when you lose it?" he takes a drink for himself "Well, you make the bastards who took them pay" you furrow your brow "Are you telling me to be fueled by hatred and revenge?"
"I'm a goddamn polar bear, not a care bear. What did you expect?"
"Fair enough"
"Now go. You're whole again"

"Let's go check on the data you gathered... you did work while I was down right?" the two look to each other then back at you "I'm not sure you're ready to go yet" the Doc begins.
Carla interrupts him "But it's not like anything we can say would change your mind, come on you brickhead let's go talk to the others" she gives you a smile and goes in for a kiss, which you reciprocate,
albeit clearly reluctantly. Wanting to be with her wouldn't change the fact you just saw your previous girlfriend be murdered by your inner killing machine. To take your mind and hers off it you attempt small talk.
"Y'know who I saw in my dreams? Polar Bear. He's doing well in that bar up there in heaven. Not that I believe in heaven, it's only for bears" that doesn't make any sense but it's good enough.
She and Doc smile at your shenanigans. The traitorous son of a- no, you can't just let that get the better of you. He -did- just help you become whole again.
-
In the living room you see the now enlarged group you have been recruiting. Sarah, Gomez, Ping Pong and Firehead are playing cards while discussing weapons and their merits.
Julius and Hiran are talking about family, or at least that's what you overhear. Duke is enjoying a nice cold beer and cigar while watching sports news, next to him Sarge and Black are chatting.
You haven't met with Black yet, or at least not with any talking involved, but from the way he's behaving you figured Sarge's old sergeant-y ways convinced him to join up. Would make a fine recruiter for jarheads.
Once you're in the room for a while they start to notice, without anyone needing to announce anything. They all look at you expectantly.
"Had one helluva trip. You guys should try it too" soon they're all welcoming you back, even the newcomers seen eager. You feel like your team mates have been telling them of your 'feats'.
"Alright, work time kids. That intel I asked for, you got anything?" Duke turns off the news and uses his holoscreen to project a map and some pictures.
"We found it. A goddamn monster-making marker, owned and built by EarthGov. And here's the kicker-"
"It's right here isn't it?"
"How the fuck did you know?"
"I'm a psychic. Now, where exactly is it, tell me"

"I'm going to need Hiran, Julius and Firehead to work on beefing up Big Phil. Make it a bunker buster" the two newcomers look at you with some confusion, but the old engineer takes them to the storage to explain.
"Gomez, Sarge and Black, help Duke get us a gunship, make it look like Unitologists did it" the corporal gives you a really devious grin at that. You turn to the remaining companions, Carla, Sarah and Doc.
"You three can scout out the position" they nod and head to gear up. You take the moment to sit back. Grabbing a nearby datapad you access public records on your old team, saving each of their portraits.
Call you sentimental, but you're doing this for them too. Now to business, you check on each of the groups. They're all starting up their activities, the bomb-makers are gathering material and taking stock.
The ship thieves are readying their weapons and waiting for Duke to locate the best place to hit up, they also seem to have drawn unitologist symbols on these spare RIGs. Smart.
Your scout group is putting on their security disguises and accessing public cameras through Carla's expertise in hacking.

You reenter the room the Gunship team is in. "Phil, gonna join us for this one?" you smile and move to grab a 'cultist' RIG to put on "Gotta be where the danger is, Sarge"
Nodding to Gomez and Black you begin putting on the suit. After a while Duke moves in. "How do you guys feel about invading a police department?" Gomez and Sarge look to each other then to you.
"It's not like we are cops anymore, it's fine. We'll take it if there's no other options" the smug old man laughs "There is. The military base you'll be bombing" that doesn't leave you with many options.
"Alright, we'll move out, get dressed and remember: limit casualties to the minimum necessary" the men salute you and you suddenly feel like you're back in the squad. You all move out,
and once you're in the garage the team enters the black truck Duke had commissioned before. You take extra supplies, including the crew machinegun and a few spare sec RIGs.
-
The place is pretty heavily fortified, considering there's a bunch of cops inside. Just from a glance you can see there's multiple options to engage in this.
According to Duke a gunship will be located at the top of the building, it's used for chasing suspects by air among other things so it needs to be easily reached by the officers.

Four men dressed as cops walk into a police station. Turns out they're not cops, and their leader is a maniac. This would make for a good BearMan story, but that's for another time.
"Hey pal, none of your RIGs are IDed on the system" the cop at the entrance lets out unexpectedly. "We just transferred over, gotta be a system fault. Can't you make an exception?"
"I get you, happened to me too, but I can't just let you in like that. Look I'll call the Captain and he'll-" Gomez takes the lead, taking off his helmet. "Gommie?" the guard officer exclaims.
"Hey Manny, sorry I haven't been at the bar man, all this rejoining stuff got me busy and all that y'know?" the officers shake hands "Man you need to go meet us again, your stories are great.
And I'm happy all that 'I'm getting back into action' talk wasn't just that, you're good cop man just go right in" you raise your eye brow at that, thankfully your helm covers it.
"Gommie?" he laughs "I'm a popular guy already" you'd bet money on it.
-
"Man this was the easiest heist ever" you nod, although you don't share their enthusiasm "I wanted some action, goddamn it" the Corporal turns from piloting back to you two.
"Won't this give it away that it wasn't cultists?"
"Maybe, but we can always release a fake profile of Gomez saying he's some crazy unitologist"
"No man! I was getting friends too"
"Perils of the job, buddy"
-
You've got the gun ship, now you listen to Carla and Sarah's report on the scouting mission. Apparently they clear all civilians in a pretty wide radius of the site and the shielding is strong.
That said, it's an advantage as you'll be hoping the bunker buster will penetrate the armour and blow straight into the marker. Still got to feel bad about the scientists and military men working there.
Even if they're pawns you know the majority doesn't even know the truth of what they're working for. It's a real shame that they're in the way. At the end of the report you consider your next moves.

"Well, it's nice to finally get a chat with you Corporal" the man nods and continues to point the next sequence of commands to you. "Don't you figure the cops will be after the gunship, boss?"
"Yes. That's half the fun isn't it?" the gunship gets up way too fast and roughly, you're shaking all around. "Stabilize it!" easy to talk. After a bit you manage to eliminate the shaking but you're still too fast.
You start heading up and forward, but you're having a hard time determining your vehicle's size and location, it's really not like driving a car. "That's too close to the buildings!" oops, nearly chipped off an apartment.
"Slow down!" you're going so fast that it's getting hard to dodge the buildings, so you attempt to slow down and end up turning off the gunship "Holy- we're gonna crash!" nope, you turned the thrusters on again.
He looks at you with eyes wide open, as if he's trying to decide if you're crazy or a demon. You're having a blast, laughing your ass off. "You're some kind of comic book villain. How the hell did you join the force?"
"I wasn't always - this - crazy! Once upon a time I was only slightly less, but then I became a government programmed assassin and had to fight off space zombies. Hell of an origin story"
At the end of the little trip you're getting the hang of it, but you notice something bad: cop gunships closing in on the distance.

"One sec, Corporal" you drop the controls and ship gets on auto. "Philips, sir, the gunships they're coming clo-" you finish setting up the music player and it interrupts his sentence.
"Really?" you grin "Of course" a few moments later and you're piloting just like before, except on purpose. You're pretty sure the pilots behind are having a rough time keeping up.
In fact, it doesn't help that every five seconds you try a maneuver that would make a normal person flinch from the nigh crash. Only thing is, you don't crash. Pulling through at the last second.
It's not exactly practical flying, but it works to get them off of your backs. Eventually you decide to be more aggressive then just luring them. You ram your gunship into another just the moment they get near.
"What the fuck!" you continue ramming them until they collide with a building. Thankfully it's not like in the movies where everything goes up in flames, and it was just some office building.
Ships are pretty tough nowadays. One of the other fliers just seems to give and returns to rescue the crashed policemen, while you continue on your way to the hideout.
-
"You're absolutely insane" you two enter the apartment to see your gunship chase being televised. The team is looking at you, mostly amused. "No wonder that EarthGov wanted me working for them right?"
"Two chases in what, three days Phil?" you shrug and move closer to kiss her, but she holds you back "Before you do that, tell me, do you still have the rope?"
"Yes?" she smiles and kisses you, then whispers on your ear "Let's go into that gunship where it's more private. Just a tiny break nobody will mind it" apparently being in the dangerzone excites women.
-
"Alright, what's our status then?"
"Bomb is ready, this thing will penetrate pretty much any modern bunker now that we modified it. One thing though, it's quite the payload, so it might be a good idea to get as many people away as we can"
"How can we do that?" your companions ponder before Firehead pipes up "Smoke 'em out. Plant a little 'incendiary device', won't kill anyone and they'll have to get outta there"
"We'd need to get inside to do that, plus who would be crazy enough to..." everyone turns to you.

Duke stays at the hideout and monitors things through communications. The remaining team moves out, ground side you leave Gomez, Sarge, Sarah, Firehead and Hiran, all waiting near the base.
Ping Pong heads in with a grunt disguise. Carla goes with you on the gunship, Julius and Black on the cockpit. Your girlfriend might be alongside the bomb-ride but she's busy working to mess with the base systems.
"What're you trying to do exactly?" she shows you a profile of a random soldier "I'll be using certain permissions Duke acquired to modify this little fella into 'Pong, this will get him in without having to make a fuss.
"Good thinking. Getting to a good location within and exfil will be handled by him and the ground team" she nods. "Wish we could tape it" you laugh "I'll get Firehead to make you another and you tape that"
"She's quite the bombshell isn't she?" she raises both eyebrows and gives you the most devious smile a human would be capable of. "Don't start" you two spend the remainder of the wait just enjoying each other's
company. Eventually you're set to go, as the ground team gives you an all clear. Black starts up the gunship and soon you're over the compound. You notice there is a loud as hell klaxon warning of the evac.
Ping Pong must've done his job as intended. Now all that remains is throwing the bomb. "Wait, I want to do this with you!" Carla drops her computer and comes running. On the count of three you both kick it,
and off it flies from the back of the gunship. The way Julius explained it'll adjust itself mid fall and penetrate into the bunker, soon after it'll blow it all up to hell.
Sooner than you expected really, as you barely clear off the radius a wall of flame, heat and smoke rises nearly to your level. The gunship has a bit of trouble hanging in there, but Black takes you away fast.
"Mission accomplished everyone, now the question is how we'll pin this on the Unis"
-
"They're saying 'unknown terrorists' did this. It's our time to act yeah?" you nod. The others look to you and pay close attention to your plan...

You, Duke and Carla get to work fabricating profiles and a manifesto. Duke leaks the profiles to his colleagues, sourced from an "infiltrated agent" in the unitologist ranks.
The manifesto is posted online and sent to news companies. It's a rant on how the government is hiding the markers and unitology will uncover them to force humanity into ascending.7
To make it clear that the intention was to release the marker you include fake calculations Julius provides making it seem like your 'cultists' thought the bomb would simply shatter the shielding,
but not damage the marker itself. It's a pretty good job, and at the end of it everyone is satisfied with the outcome as the media soon reports unitologists as having perpetrated "yet another attack".
EarthGov has begun mobilizing to take them down. Now the question is, can you take down the other markers before it's too late?
"I'll work on the locations, though acquiring the intel will be harder now that we've made our first move" says Duke. You trust he will get it out to your group,
though you also trust that the government's efforts to hide them will, as he said, make your life more difficult from now on.
-
Looking out through the bedroom's balcony you can't help but want to spend some time off.
Maybe when you go to Earth to find whatever markers they have there you'll get to visit a beach.

That's it, what a great idea you just had! A party to celebrate your recovery, the mission accomplished, and the beginnings of a group that can stand up to EarthGov and Unitology.
Moving in to the living room to announce your idea you see Duke's already bringing in a fuckton of alcohol and food. "Did you read my goddamn mind?" he smiles "I got promoted Phil!"
"What? When?" he takes you to a corner to explain more privately "After I delivered info on the unitologist attacks and my boss died the higher ups decided I'd make a fine replacement.
I'm a big shot now, kid!" the man looks ecstatic, his eyes shining with the light of a young man rather than the old fart he is. "Congratulations, put that in with the list of other shit we have to celebrate.
Let the party begin!" he grabs a nearby bottle of beer and raises it "Let's fucking party, young'uns!"
-
Carla and Firehead got to work on setting some nice music, and soon they lit the dance floor on fire. Hiran is putting up some weird electronic strobe lights and party lights, he looks pretty happy for a crazy hobo.
Julius is sitting back on the living room laughing at the others' antics, Ping Pong is showing off his 'moves' that look more like a fight, Gomez is teaching Sarge how to dance and Doc is drinking like there's no tomorrow.
Corporal Black is instinctively guarding the door and shaking his head to the song while Sarah seems to just linger around the kitchen eating whatever food she can find. You decide tonight you'll hit up each of these nutjobs.
-
First up are the party's DJs/dancers, the two see you approach and the dance suddenly becomes a contest as both pine for your attention. It seems the fun of teasing you fired up their spirits.
Eventually things get a bit too heated when you become a human sandwich filling between the two crazy ladies. Your gilrfriend doesn't seem to mind, in fact it's like she's enjoying putting you through this.
Evil, evil woman that she is she stops it before - you - get 'fired up'. You go have a chat with both instead. Musical taste being the topic. Carla is into the heavy stuff while Firehead is into techno music.
You're a more classical guy, for you music ended in the 20th century. It's a bit of a heated argument but you can tell that they'll hit it off fine. Before you leave you get a double slap on the butt.
It feels weirdly bad but also good to be treated like that by hot chicks.
-
>>
>>1046908
Hiran is now relaxing with Julius, the two are chatting about family again. This time you approach enough as to actually participate in the talks. "You see Julius, the most important thing we can do,
for them, is to continue living. Those who loved us would've wanted as much" you have to wonder if it isn't a bit hypocritical for him to say as much when he himself became motivated by revenge,
however he continues "That doesn't mean we shouldn't honour their memory however. My way is to fight those who took them, and I feel that this must also become your path" the both men nod sagely at the same time.
It's good that Julius found a friend who shares a similar burden and background, maybe this will take him out of the dump. Before leaving you try to get both to drink but Julius insists he's quit for good,
and Hiran says he cannot as he has become 'ascetic' whatever that means.
-
You join Doc for a drink. It's hard to resist he urge to punch him, but you do for the sake of party morale. "I'm sorry for what I did" you look to him and try to discern if he's sincere or just acting.
"Everything. If it means anything, I'll put whatever I have left into fixing it" you shake your head "There ain't any fixing to do, only saving. The past's gone, can't revive the dead or undo our acts"
He cheers to that and goes back to his drinking.
-
Sarge and Gomez left the dance floor and went out with Black. The trio has put a goddamn target on the hallway out of the apartment and are doing practice shots. Against your better judgement you join them.
It's some tough competition, but once they pull out the baby-shaped targets you manage to get bullseye every time. "Oh for fuck's sake Philips, how do you manage that? Do you really have some EarthGov programming making you hate babies?" you've got to laugh at the idea. Gomez on the other hand just praises you by shooting his rifle to the sky. Except this is inside a building meaning he just put holes in the hallway ceiling.
You all rush into the apartment again and pretend nothing happened. Corporal Black goes to lecture Gomez but gets beaten to it by Sarge, instead he just stands by looking vaguely menacing while repeteadly nodding.

"Is that good?" Sarah nods "Ifs beety gwoog" the girl flushes from speaking with her mouth full and dropping pieces of cake everywhere, prompting you to smirk at her misfortune.
"I meant, it's pretty good!" she smiles and hands you some, which she does by pushing it in your face. "Did you drink?" she stumbles a pit and grabs some pizza.
"No I, Firehead, she had herbs" you nod, while trying to hide your laughter "She said, they are calming, medicinal" she tries to shove a slice of pizza into your mouth but you manage to dodge.
"I think I'm getting you to lie down somewhere how about that?" you drag her to the sofa while she shouts that she's still hungry.
Minutes later she's passed out. Poor rookie.
-
Everyone watches expectantly as you and Ping Pong prepare for the rematch, drinking and cheering everywhere. Sadly the match ends when a misplaced kick sends you almost out through the window,
while Ping Pong veritably falls out. To his luck there was a pool down there. When he returns, soaked wet you end up having to lend him some clothes since apparently the man doesn't really have anything other than his shorts and his combat gear.
-
"A toast! To all the current members of our gang of survivors, and the all future members. May we end the space zombie menace once and for all before it even gets to start!"
They all raise their glasses and you all take shots of Gomez' hellmouth drink. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea.
-
"What the fuck?" you woke up in the mid afternoon in your bedroom. Surprisingly you have two people in your arms. Looking to your right you find Carla. You turn your head to the other side expectantly,
It's... Just a polar bear plushie. Almost gave you a heart attack, but that's good news.
-
Ping Pong hanging from the ceiling like a bat, Sarah passed out on the couch untouched since the last night. Black, Gomez, Sarge and Doc apparently left to continue drinking elsewhere.
Firehead is sleeping in the spare room. Julius and Hiran are the only ones completely safe from any hangover, as they prepare everyone meals and discuss the merits of automated weaponry.
Duke disappeared last night, but apparently he just went to visit his waitress friend.
-
>>
>>1046924
"The security cameras show a bunch of cops showed up last night and rather than breaking it up they joined the party, ain't that funny? I don't remember any of it"
"They probably left with the other drunks to continue their pub crawl" you glare at her "Who are you to be calling anyone a drunk" she puts out her tongue and snuggles closer to you.
"Anyway, gotta call Duke and see if he has any luck on the recruit lists" she nods slightly and starts dozing off on your lap. "Hey Duke, you up already?"
"Kid? If it's about recruits I've left the intel for you already. Ain't much left you can get here on the moon, pal" you start moving your head to nod but realize he can't see it.
"Copy that pal. I'll check it out, thanks" you hear some loud shouting and he shuts off the comms. Checking the report he left you, it's some pretty basic stuff, just three possible recruits.
That one Isaac Clarke, a self proclaimed 'Space Raider' and a weird vigilante type who has been breaking up terror attacks by the unitologists. You're not sure if any will join you, but you might as well try.
Well, later, right now you have more important concerns.
-
"This series isn't really good" you massage your girl's back while she provides commentary on the show you're watching. "I mean, a bunch of crazy people survive the apocalypse and become a happy,
somewhat stable family-like group? What kind of stupid plot is that" her delivery of the lines is so serious you almost fall for it. Leaning closer to her ear you whisper "Sarcasm is so funny"
"Is that sarcasm?" you refuse to answer, instead intensifying your massage and eventually giving it a more spicy quality.
You spend a lot of time with more strenuous tasks in her, but eventually you both tire out and just use the rest of the day to - rest - from all the activity that took place in the previous night.
-
"Boss, heard you're going for a new recruit today, want me to pilot the ship?" Corporal Black asks as you head for the apartment's exit. It's already the next day, but he doesn't look so good.
You'll probably ask Julius to pilot instead.

Looking at his new boss it was kinda hard to believe the brass had decided this fat old smug asshole was their best choice, but it's not like he had the balls to say it out loud.
"What brings you here Agent Graham?" the younger man cleared his throat and tried to dodge the subject of the older man wearing only underpants while in the company of his underlings.
"Well sir, I believe I've found some inconsistencies in this manifesto" Duke gave guffawed and lit up a cigar. Smoking is strictly forbidden but again, Graham had no balls to confront it.
"They spend twelve pages making dick jokes and the text has intermitent drawings of a polar bear hugging a marker, sir. As far as I know this has nothing to do with unitologist iconography"
"Look, kid, once you get to my age you'll finally learn a very important lesson" the young agent held back his urge to tell the man to fuck off and listened.

"I'll stay around, planning on meeting with the survivors from Titan Station. Meanwhile I'm sending the others on an assignment to clean up shop, but for now you can go rest. You look like you need it"
The soldier nods and heads into the apartment to find a place to crash. Before continuing on your way you decide to call Duke to set things up. While it's not exactly a priority when it comes to saving the world,
it's still a good move to wipe out as many unitologist cells as you can while incriminating them. The agent, or rather, supervisor decides the plan is sound and asks that you get him some reports on the actions,
this way it'll be easier to erase any doubt it was the cultists who did those things. You agree and send in the mission assignment to the rest of the team, leaving it to them to decide how to accomplish it.
A few moments later and you're heading out to find Clarke. Walking around you see how the streets are emptier than usual, and how security has been beefed up due to recent events. Almost like martial law.
There is no official curfew but it's natural that the average person would decide to stay at home or at least not linger for long out in the streets where they could suddenly find themselves part of a new lunar crater.
Eventually it dawns on you that you're walking around aimlessly, and that you have yet to contact Clarke or his female friend, so you do as much.
"Philips was it?"
"Yep. Clarke and..."
"Langford. What is it?"
"We blew up a Marker, thought I'd let you know"

"Well last time I only made the ship reactor explode"
"The energy released would be orders of magnitude higher, did you not check it?"
"I mean, it's not like people are dying all over are they?"
The man doesn't respond, instead simply staring at you.

You turn back to the appartment and acquire the disguise Ping Pong had used previously. It should be a bit harder than that time, but you're confident.

The place is a mess, there's security everywhere and a big cordon cutting everyone else off from it. Getting into the protected area is relatively easy, but getting into the actual facility will be harder.
A few options present themselves to you. Sneaking around and trying to go in through the proper rubble would be a way in with little danger of detection. Alternatively you could try to cause a distraction,
and while everyone's attentions are off you just crash in through the still-intact entrance. Finally, you could see if blufifng your way in is a possibility, but thinking of a good excuse to let a lowly grunt in?

You sneak away from the staff and make your way to the edge of the destruction. It looks like there's a long way down into the crater which makes you wonder just how deep this goes.
Maybe it'd have been better to consider it beforehand, as you step on a loose piece that sends you tumbling down into a hole. Looking around it seems you're inside the bunker's remains, light shining up from the ceiling.
The place is pretty dark so you turn on your flashlight. It's your average government facility, looks extremely bland and military-styled. It's likely they had a regular base as cover for the marker.
Walking around you try to find some indication, which comes to you in the form of signs pointing to the different areas. One of them says "Access Elevator", the others are "Processing" and "Offices".
Considering your current weapons are just a pulse rifle and a revolver it might be a good idea to look for something else to carry around, but you don't really want to linger for longer than necessary.

Boring cubicles after boring cubicles. It's surprising how the whole place didn't burn down, but a lot of it looks like it went through a fire. You see some computers are still semi-functional,
while one or two datapads can be salvaged. All in all the information here isn't very exciting, except when you get to the office of the director of operations. Apparently he's got a keycard of sorts,
which you take from his pretty damn dead body. When you think about it maybe this means the marker was completely destroyed, or perhaps it's just too far down to affect them.
Either way you've made your mind to check further below to make sure you haven't accidentally unleashed more hell. Grabbing the dead man's identification you start heading out.

You've got to wonder what 'processing area' really means. As you walk you consider all the possibilities: letting people in according to their IDs? Nah too mundane. A place to put in computers? Makes no sense.
Turning people into food? Too grotesque. Maybe it's where they send people to be turned into Necromorphs and used as target practice, now that would be interesting. Arriving there you see the first possibility was correct.
The processing area is simply a checkpoint for further access to the facility where objects are scanned. It's also got an access to the topside, which means this would be your best bet for an exit.
Then again, it would mean people would ask questions such as 'how the fuck did this grunt get in' and 'why have I never seen his face before'.
You opt instead to check around for anything useful. Again, most of the place is too boring, but you do come across a computer logged into the employee profile system.
A few minutes checking around and you start uploading a list of top-level scientists and others to your files. It could be very, very useful.

"Aw shoot" the elevator is busted. You might have better luck with the stairs but you haven't even seen any yet. Perhaps the emergency ones? Or you could always try to find something to go down the shaft with.
It wouldn't be a bad move to check out the shaft either, who knows what you could find. You look around, there's not much in terms of rope here but maybe you could try rummaging the place for one.
Another alternative would be to call one of your buddies and see if they can bring you gear to start this "archeological expedition".

"Elevator tell me your secrets!" oh boy, that's deep, your light doesn't even shine all the way down. That said, each floor had a ledge and you could use the sides of the shaft itself to hold yourself.
Maybe with a rope this would be easier, and you find a good spot to attach one in a nearby machine that's heavy and probably not gonna budge at all. It's a good shot, but you've yet to find rope.
You still have the alternatives you had considered earlier, including just taking the stairs like a normal human being. Thing is, you're not a normal human being, not even close to that.
One extra check around the offices and you come back with a flare, which you drop down the shaft just in case. And boy, it's deep. You've gotta make up your mind but there's no knowing what'll stick.
Finally you decide to...

GOD DAMN IT PHIL'S, THIS IS THE EASIEST PART OF YOUR DAY.
>>
Well it's gotta be much faster if you don't bother with petty stuff such as 'safety'. And thus you begin climbing down the shaft. It's a bit unusual to do so in full armor, but you'll get the hang of it.
"Arachno-Man, Arachno-Man, does whatever an Arachnid can!" your singing voice echoes throughout the shaft. If any necros are around they'll hear you, definitely, and you might not even have to crawl down.
Your hands go around looking for anything to hold on, mostly onto the base of each floor's well, floor. A few slip ups nearly cost you dearly, though none do or you wouldn't be thinking of them right now.
After a while you look down with your flashlight, seeing the remains of the elevator at the very bottom. You've been going down for quite a few minutes, so you're not surprised to be making progress.
The bottom-most floor's door isn't open, dropping down with a heavy thud you look around for something to open it up with. No such look. Trying instead to force it with your own hands,
you pull them apart slowly before finally managing to get them out of your way long enough to slip through. That's when you nearly fall down into the pit of charred rubble and nothingness that's ahead.
You imagined the destruction would be severe but you hand't considered that the bunker-buster Big Phil would get this deep down before detonating.
Ahead you can see an emergency light turned on, somehow. You could try going down or you could take this level of distruction as guarantee the Marker is a goner.

Don't large surviving fragments do that just as well?
>>
Finding a big piece of distorted metal that looks resilient enough, you pushed the elevator doors open and put the scrap in between them by using your foot. After releasing the doors they made a heavy noise,
the crash would probably cut someone's arm off, yet the scrap holds in place just fine. You began making your way to the bottom of the crater and following the light. It's hard to move around in the dark,
when there's ash, rubble and other crap on the floor, but you manage to get to it. Or rather, to the hole the light is coming from. Lifting a large 'pillar' up you open up a passage to the other side.
It seems the light you saw through was coming from a drone, pretty similar to the scrap ones from Heinlein except this one is pretty professional made. Reminds you of a rescue drone, but there's nothing here,
no one would've survived so what's it looking for? You approach carefuly, it still hasn't detected your presence. From here you can see it's got something strapped to it, like a container for survivors.
You could try going cloer, or maybe you could disable it so you can look without the risk of alerting EarthGov to your presence. Around you there's a few high spots you could perch from,
if you threw something from up high and smashed the drone it would just be 'an accident'.

Drop it like its hots
>>
While the little robot wasn't looking you climbed over to the highest piece of stable footing you could find. Ingenious as you are you dropped a few pebbles over near you, which dragged it's attention.
Looking around you didn't see anything big enough to use as a weapon. But Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in space, and also on Earth. A man like you wearing armour weight over 100 kilos.
Dropping from the height you're on? It's likely you could damage it. Internally yelling a cool one liner you dropped down on the drone, landing with both your feet over it's main body.
The thrusters couldn't handle the sudden acceleration and it crashed on the floor. Looking to your handiwork it's pretty clear that shut it off for good. Now it's a matter of checking the contents.
With an application of force it was easy to pry open the container, specially since crashing it busted the thing pretty good. Though you didn't expect to see some weird rocks on it.
Upon further inspection you realized what these were. "Marker fragments?" you turn around half expecting a necromorph to jump you upon making such an important discovery, but it doesn't happen.
Perhaps it was your luck that the absurdly powerful bomb buried everything here and incinerated any nearby corpses. Now it's a matter of making sure these fragments don't get into EarthGov hands.
Thinking back to what Isaac said, it'd be easy to just take these and throw them into your ship's reactor, or maybe throw em towards the sun. As you ponder on how to eliminate the fragments you see another drone approaching.

If the drone examines it's fallen 'companion' it'll be dangerous, and you can't really allow for them to discover it wasn't accident. Thus you move the marker fragment near an unstable wall.
Things would've been easier had you brought any explosives with you, but this is a fine way to avoid needless exposure. The newcomer drone barely pays any attention to the fallen one,
rather instantly heading to the marker fragment located nearby. You on the other hand wait for it to approach before collapsing the wall over it. Sure, it's suspicious, but it's better than shooting it.
Soon after you begin collecting fragments you stumble upon a larger container. It seems that their tactic is to collect everything and bring it here to then take it topside.
A group of another three drones is approaching, so you wait for them to finish bringing in the fragments.
-
It seems they're ready to leave, now's your chance to take over the loot so you can destroy it.
How to go about it...

>Hitch a ride as they go up out of the complex, then steal it topside

"Sir you're gonna want to see this!" the old general moved to watch the screen where one of his subordinates watched over the recovery drones. At first the general couldn't even comprehend it,
but soon he came to the realization of what he was seeing. "Is that a-" his underling nodded "It appears a soldiers is destroying our drones sir" the old man had seen many things in his life,
yet he had never seen a soldier buried among rubble hugging a drone and repeatedly smashing it against the debris. This lunatic was down there with the marker fragments, they had to do something.
"Don't let him escape, bring as many soldiers as we can to guard the exits and make sure this man, this unitologist infiltrator, gets what he deserves" the men around him saluted and parted to do their jobs.
-
"This was easy, now to get those shiny Necrorocks" you move back to check the haul. They've got quite a few there, but it's not enough that you wouldn't be able to carry them.
Then again you worry about the signal they transmit and the intensity with which it can cause damage to your psyche. Well, better you than someone who was sane.
You grab the shards and stow them away, then move back to the elevator. Now that you think about it, the soldiers might try something. Maybe you could look around for a better exit?

Minutes of walking around the large crater and you end up climbing to the next level. Through there you continue on your way until you find a long corridor. The signs are erased so you just keep going.
It's mostly destroyed, but it's usable enough that you don't need to fear falling through the floor. Eventually you reach what looks like some kind of control room for something.
Some kind of missile silo control, it's weird to put this here but who are you to question the military. Passing through a set of blast doors you find a silo itself. On the other side of the inner platform,
which surrounds the empty silo, you see a ladder. It looks like it goes all the way up, though the upper area of the silo appears to be closed right now, and with the systems offline you can't open them.
Regardless you make your way to the ladder and begin climbing. Lord it's a long climb.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aHQnDTd1y4
Eventually you misstep, thankfully only a few meters up. Problem is you fall on your goddamn head, blacking out.
-
"You're..."
"You gotta have a little sadness once in a while so you know when the good times come, Phil"
"That's true, but what does that have to do with what's happening?"
"You're hallucinating Phil. Remember, when you reach rock bottom the only way is up"
"Wh-"
-

The ghost of Bob Ross was right, the only way you have left is up. But to get there you first need to make sure these things won't fuck with your head. You head back to find something to contain the shards.
Luckily for you, the people upstairs had that thought before you. Upon inspecting the container the drones were going to use you discover it looks to be shielded, probably gonna help with this damn signal.
Then again, this shit is heavy. No problem, you've lifted heavier. Detaching it from the drones you start making your way back to the ladder. Your body implores you stop but you keep going.
Once you begin climbing the ladder it all flares in pain. Your grip on the ladder is almost giving, and you barely even started. No matter, you're - the - man. Nobody is a better ladder climber.
You grit your teeth and keep going, carrying the weight of three men on you. About half way there you start feeling cramps, but rather than give up you put your legs into the space between the bars,
simply holding yourself in place by sheer power of leg and core muscles. After your hands have rested you continue, and even pick up the pace. In about fifteen minutes you arrive at the top.
It's refreshing to just sit back on the floor and rest, but you know there's no time. You continue, looking for an exit to the silo. To your surprise it comes in the form of the silo opening up.
Apparently they're dropping the drones through this area, you could just leave now. Then again the military will be looking out for the crazy drone-hugger.

You know, strogg seem like a hard counter to necromorphs
They reanimate dead tissue with nanites, replace a shitload of body parts with mechanical variants, shove a mind controlling neural device (which gives tem automatic combat/strogg knowledge too, useful as shit if they ever need to upload tactical data to all the strogg soldiers) into the brains of their new members, and if you kill them their nanites dissolve the tissues into a green liquid

Weird, huh?
>>
>>1051450
Well, interesting idea, though it would be harder to get one that works with your main armour.

>>1053539
All the "convert people into more troops" seem to counter each other.
Reapers turn you into robots, Demon use transdimensional energies to warp your body, Chaos Damons do the same, Zerg, Nids, Xenomorphs, Strogg, Borg.
Now whoever would win in a match is unclear, humans would definitely lose.
